Podcasts against gender stereotypes (yay!)
I made a post about the way gender essentially doesn't exist in Arcane, but I also wanted to say a few words about two podcasts I've been listening to lately.
In The Sheridan Tapes, I was struck by the way Bill Tyler and his partner, Robert Quincy, became the emotional and caring core of the searchers team. Sam Bailey was also allowed to be vulnerable, his "Heart" episode was soul-piercing, and his power relies mostly on intuition, on feelings. He literally needs an emotional connection for it to work in a certain way.
Kate Sheridan and Maria Sol, on the opposite, felt more like the action members of the team for the most of S2, very determined and tough when needed, holding themselves together at all times.
Things shifted to more neutral in S3 and 4, but S2 had me pleasantly surprised, because the traditional gender roles were sort of reversed but not driven to the extremes (like a lot of movies deal with 'tough women' nowadays). I'm agender so I like when gender stereotypes are treated as non-existent and the authors write people, not "men and women".
It's pretty much the same with Syntax Podcast. There's no clear devision gender roles wise, but I liked how Silas - not Lizzy or Alyx or even the most sociable of the group and the team leader Cassius - became 'the caring one' for the team: despite his stuck up attitude at first (or it just sounded that way to me in the beginning, I'm relistening and it feels way less so now), seemingly being more of an introvert and just 'on his own wavelength', it's Silas' trailer where everyone ends up gathering when they need support, Cass goes to him right away from the very beginning when they want to have some advice or just to discuss anything, any time a team member is having a hard time he makes sure to come up to them and give some reassurance or ask if they need help, and it was him who was making rounds to ensure everyone was ok when they were waiting out a siege. All this, considering that they have a leader, a medic and a security head on the team as well. So it wasn't strictly necessary, but he ended up taking this role all the same, just like he used to care about his mother's wellbeing since childhood after his father died.
Greg, being the "papa bear", also never shows any callousness despite serving in the military for the most of his life. In fact, his supernatural experience story is concentrated on moral support of his fallen comerades families. Moreover, although he tries to act tough like his place in the team demands, he's still allowed to show vulnerability and takes the chance. Same with J - military experience and no toxic masculinity whatsoever (I mean yes there were a few jokes but he was lightheartedly picking on Alyx and paid for this right away XD).
The girls are never damsels in distress and do a lot for the team.
(I don't mention enbies since I'm not aware if we even have any stereotypes going on for us, assigned gender at birth aside? Anyway, there's none of that bullshit either.)
Well, I may mention Greg being "papa bear" and June behaving like a mother hen but these traits aren't toxic, at least in their case. They feel very nice, and actually these two (I'm in denial S3 ending-wise, I have a fix it au in my mind OKAY) act pretty similarly in their care for the team, although they do it in different ways. Plus, I don't mind gender existing at all, only the expectations related to it being perceived as mandatory.
Everyone is written just as people, and they don't shy away from things that traditionally may be attributed to the opposite gender. I love to see - well, technically, hear - this. Please, more.
As a side note: I'd love not to pay attention to such things in general because to me people are just people as is, but in the society I live in every day gender stereotypes are still shoved in everyone's faces. In my country visibly not conforming to them is edging on committing a crime now. Plus gender socialization is still a thing, sadly, so toxic masculinity and femininity still exist and show up often enough, so I have to consider this as well. All this makes pieces of media like Arcane, TST or Syntax all the more enjoyable as they show the world the way I see it and would like it to be in reality.

part 1!! part 2!!
(Narrator POV)
Penelope had gathered everyone in her apartment for her usual get-together, but this time, she seemed particularly excited about something. She wouldnât stop grinning, and none of the team could get a straight answer about what they were about to listen to. Spencer would rather be at home with you, since days that you're in Virginia are scarce, but you insisted he hang out with his friends. He sat in Penelopeâs apartment excited for the night to be over so he could return home to you.
âCome on, Babygirl, spill it,â Derek said, giving her an exasperated look. âWhatâs this surprise? Is it a podcast? Audiobook? Something crime-related?â
âOh, it's so much better than that!â Penelope said with a mischievous look in her eye. âItâs music! A new artist Iâm obsessed with. Her name is Y/n Y/l/n and she's so amazing youâre going to love her! Weâre listening to her new album Short nâ Sweet, she only has a performance out for Bed Chem so weâre going to start off with that!â
The fact that she had chosen your album had made Spencer uncharacteristically nervous, and now that Penelope was about to press play on a song about him, his unease was starting to become visible. Spencer stiffened beside Derek, his fingers nervously twitching at his sides. He knew this album very well. Penelope pressed play, and the first beats of âBed Chemâ by you started filling the room. The sultry intro immediately set the tone, and Spencer swallowed hard. He could feel the heat rise in his cheeks. Of all the songs.
I was in a sheer dress the day that we met
We were both in a rush, we talked for a sec
Your friend hit me up so we could connect
And what are the odds? You sent me a textâŠ
Emily raised an eyebrow, intrigued. âOoh, this sounds fun.â JJ nodded along, smiling. âItâs catchy.â But it wasnât long before the lyrics kicked in, and as Spencer listened to the opening lyrics he recalled how you two met:
Flashback
(Y/n POV)
âListen, I know I have all these things to do but I just need time ok? The album needs something, I am not at all ready for it to come out. It's literally all just sad, and there needs to be something else apart from it. Nat, please just a few more months and you can release it no matter what- oh my, i'm so sorry that was totally my fault!â I exclaimed seeing coffee spill all over the coat of the stranger in front of me. My phone fell on the ground between us landing under the books that had slipped from his hand. I look up and am met with big brown eyes that look like chocolate I can just melt in.
The stranger in front of me gasped slightly, looking down at his now coffee-stained coat. "No, no, it's okay!" he reassured me, his voice soft but flustered as he knelt down to gather his fallen books. I crouched quickly, reaching for my phone that had landed just beneath one of his thick textbooks.
âIâm really sorry,â I said again, glancing up at him once again as our hands brushed while reaching for the same book. His eyes met mine, and for a moment, I was struck by how gentle his expression was, despite the mess I had made.
He smiled softly, his eyes crinkling at the edges in a way that made my heart skip a beat. "Really, it's fine," he said, handing me the phone. "Accidents happen." I let out a small, relieved laugh, grateful he wasnât upset. âIâll buy you a new coat or at least pay for the dry cleaning. Seriously, Iâm-â
âYou donât have to do that,â he interrupted, standing up and shaking his head. âItâs just coffee. I can clean it up.â I straightened, still feeling embarrassed. âAt least let me buy you a coffee. You know, to replace the one I spilled.â I offered, hoping to make up for my clumsiness. He looked at me for a moment, considering it, a small smile tugged at the corners of his lips. âAlright. But only if youâll let me grab a seat and hear why youâre so stressed out.â He motioned towards the phone I had been mid-conversation with when we collided. I blinked, surprised by his easy going nature. "Deal," I said, smiling cheekily up at him âBut, uh... I didnât catch your name.â He extended a hand. "Spencer. Spencer Reid."
I shook his hand, feeling the warmth of his touch as I introduced myself. âNice to meet you, Spencer. I'm Y/n.â
Flashback Over
And now the next thing I know, I'm like
Manifest that you're oversized
I digress, got me scrollin' likeÂ
Out of breath, got me goin' like
Who's the cute boy with the white jacket and the thick accent? Like
Ooh, maybe it's all in my head
But I bet we'd have really good bed chem
Spencerâs stomach dropped as the next set of lyrics filled the room. Penelope was still humming along, enjoying the vibe of the song, completely oblivious to the growing nervousness inside of him.ââManifest that you're oversized... Out of breath, got me goin' like...ââ Penelope sang along under her breath. She glanced over at Spencer and caught him staring at the floor, his body stiff.Â
âOh, this oneâs so good! Itâs got that flirty energy.â Derek laughed. âItâs catchy, for sure. I wonder who the song is about though?â He grinned, âBet the dude is feelinâ pretty lucky.â Spencer's breath hitched as the chorus started
How you pick me up, pull me down, turn me 'round, oh, it just makes sense
How you talk so sweet when you're doin' bad things, that's bed (bed) chem (chem)Â
How you're lookin' at me, yeah, I know what that means and I'm obsessedÂ
Are you free next week? I'd bet we'd have really good
Spencerâs mind was racing as the sound of your voice fills the room. He knew everyone was at ease and him being stiff and sweating was putting a spotlight on him. Emily let out a low chuckle as the suggestive lyrics played. âThis girl is something else. I donât know who sheâs singing about, but they must be good.â She raised an eyebrow, half-joking, but Spencer could feel his heart racing.
Come right on me I mean, camaraderieÂ
Said you're not in my timezone, but you wanna beÂ
Where art thou? Why not uponeth me?Â
See it in my mind, let's fulfil the prophecy Ooh (ah)Â
He takes in a sharp breath at the racy lyrics. His pulse quickened, and he shifted uncomfortably in his seat. The team continued to listen, oblivious to the internal panic flooding his body. Each line felt more like a spotlight aimed directly at him. Derek let out a low whistle, eyebrows raising at the suggestive turn in the song. âDamn. This song is getting real interesting.â He laughed at Spencerâs uncomfortable state, completely unaware of the significance behind it.
JJ chuckled, swaying her head to the beat. âI love how bold she is! Whoever this song is about⊠they are very lucky.â Spencerâs hands gripped the edge of his seat, his face heating up. He could feel Emilyâs eyes subtly watching him from across the room. He wasnât sure how much longer he could endure this.
Who's the cute guy with the wide, brown eyes and the big bad, mmm, like?Â
Ooh (ah) I know it sound a bit redundantÂ
But I bet we'd have really good bed chem
As the song ended Spencer let out a breath he wasn't aware he was holding in, thankful that the song was over. âWhat's up, pretty boy? Couldn't handle a pretty girl singing bout bad things?â Derek teased him, throwing an arm around his shoulders, his grin wide. As he was about to respond his phone rang, Spencerâs heart nearly jumped out of his chest when his phone buzzed on the table. The screen lit up with your name and contact photo, one of you smiling brightly. The entire team froze, their eyes slowly shifting from the phone to Spencer, then back to the phone.
Derekâs grin widened even more, his teasing now taking on a new level. âWell, well, well⊠Look who it is.â he said, still keeping his arm draped over Spencerâs shoulder. âIs this the mystery girl you've been so secretive about these past few months?â Penelope's eyes widened in excitement. âOh my gosh, Spencer! Are you going to answer? You have to answer.â JJ leaned in closer, a sly smile tugging at her lips. âThis explains a lot, actually,â she said, glancing from Spencer to the phone, Emily finished her sentence. âEspecially that song.â Spencer shook his head trying to hide his blush as he answered the phone.
âHey Y/nâ
âHey lover, you havin fun?â
âYeah, uh, the night took an interesting turnâŠâ
âOh? How so?â
âYeah, uh so Penelope invited us over and turns out it was a listening party⊠for your albumâŠâ
âOh- that hilarious oh myâ
âYeah and they just heard Bed Chem and they saw you called meâŠâ
âOh my- HAHA thats so funny whatttâ
âYeah, they wanna meet you now.â
âWell good because I've been wanting to meet them! Can you finally introduce us?â
âAlright well I guess itâs time. You're my person, I want you to meet my family.â
âWell I can't wait. What about you invite them to my concert next weekend in DC and we can go to dinner afterwards?â
âSounds perfect, like you, I'll see you at home I love you.â
âLove you too. See ya loverâ
Spencer returned to the group after hanging up, slipping his phone into his pocket. He tried to keep his expression neutral, but the warmth from your call still lingered on his face. As he sat down, the team was waiting for him, grins plastered across their faces, eyes twinkling with mischief. Derek was the first to break the silence, leaning in with a smirk. âSo, pretty boy, you and Y/n Y/l/n, huh? Sounds like sheâs got you all wrapped up in that album.â
Spencer shifted uncomfortably, glancing at the others, who were clearly holding back their laughter. âI didnât know we were having a listening party,â he mumbled, trying to divert the attention. âDidnât know? Or didnât plan on being exposed?â Emily teased, raising an eyebrow. Penelope gasped dramatically, clutching her heart. âI mean, Spencer Reid as a muse for a song about that? Honestly, Iâm living for this.â Spencerâs face flushed deep red. âItâs not exactly like that-â
âOh, come on, Spence!â JJ finally chimed in, laughing. âEven you have to admit itâs a little funny.â Spencer looked down at his hands, a small, shy smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. âOkay... maybe itâs a little funny.â The team erupted into laughter, the tension in the air easing as they continued to tease him, but in a much lighter, more affectionate way. âYou really had us going there, man,â Derek chuckled, shaking his head. âDidnât expect you two.â
Spencer sighed, still smiling despite the embarrassment. âI didnât expect it either... but, you know, Iâm really lucky to have her.â
âAnd clearly, sheâs lucky to have you, too,â Emily added, her teasing softening into something more sincere. âYou two make a great pair.â Spencer looked up at her, grateful for her words. âThanks, Emily.â
âShe uh, invited all of you to her concert next week and dinner afterwards so you guys can finally meet.â A mix of excitement and nervousness in his voice. âShe's been asking for a while but I've been nervous but she's really important to me. I really love her, you guys, and youre my family. It's time for you guys to meet.â He nodded sincerely.Â
Penelope was the first to speak, âOh my god, yes please I wasnât able to get tickets that amazing! And I cannot wait to meet her!â Her voice was laced with excitement. JJ smiled brightly, nudging Spencerâs shoulder playfully. âLook at you! Having a secret girlfriend. I love it. Iâm so happy for you, Spencer!â Emily beamed, her gaze softening. âYou two sound like a perfect match. I canât wait to meet her. Itâs about time you brought someone special around.â Derek raised an eyebrow, a teasing grin forming on his lips. âSo, what are you saying, Reid? Are you going to introduce us to your girlfriend or what? Does she have any friends for me?â Spencer rolled his eyes but couldnât help but smile. âI am not setting you up, but I know youâll love her. Sheâs the sweetest person ever. Just be nice, okay?âÂ
âI canât make any promises,â Derek joked, chuckling. âSeriously, though,â Emily said, her tone turning more sincere. âWeâre really happy for you, Spence. Itâs great to see you so happy.â He nodded, his heart swelling with affection for you and gratitude for his friends. âThanks, guys. I really appreciate it.â
The conversation continued, filled with excitement and anticipation for the upcoming concert. As the banter resumed, Spencer couldnât shake the feeling of joy bubbling within him. He knew that sharing this part of his life with his team was important, and he couldnât wait for you to meet the people who meant so much to him. Later that evening, as he headed home, he found himself smiling at the thought of seeing you. He couldn't wait to show you how much he cared about you and how much he wanted you to be a part of his world.

2 MONTHS BEFORE JACKS ESCAPE
Kim multimedia station.
The place of business was always busy and there was never not anything to be done, Endless reports and stories in need of being written, the podcast teams always chattering about the hottest topics.
KMMs was a journalist's dream â your dream.
You were a known face around the company both online and in person. A pretty foreigner who was damn good at her job and that made you favored by the late CEO Kim. You were always hand picked by him to attend press conferences in his favor. He treated you kindly, allowing you into a large world of business pulling strings to get you the best stories helping youâ a once broke freshly graduated English major climbing up in the world of reporting.
It's only been three months since CEO Kim passed away and the company was changing fast. You were grateful that you weren't a part of the many that were fired and replaced by new faces and AI, and you were now noticing how low the viewers were on podcasts, social media and blogs.
KMM was dying out very slowly and that meant you might go away with it. You were dedicated to your work, and the company that helped you become the person you were today.
And you were willing to do anything to not be forgotten.
Sleeping was not on the agenda right now.
A quick double tap to a cell phone showed an awfully bright screen reading 4:40 am. You had been lying in your bed mind racing while staring at your wall for the past hour and a half.
Jack in the box.
Rolling out the tangled bedsheets and arms you pull on a large T-shirt that'd been discarded a long with the other items of clothing on the floor shuffling towards the desk in the corner of your room. Laptop already open from your previous research when you pull out a pack of cigarettes from your drawer before plunging deep into the web. Your mouse clicks every site as your pen moved furiously taking in all the information you can about said serial killer.
âOn May 14th, 2018 Serial Killer Jack In The Box was finally caught after a murdering spree in Seoul. The killings of ordinary outgoing individuals taken with a quick swipe of a knife and a long torture method.â
"Before his kills Jack likes to taunt his victim. He ironically sends them a Jack in the box to let them know they're next. The next few days said victim lives in constant fear, looking over their shoulder, leading the mostly known outgoing victim to slowly isolate themselves from loved ones in fear of them being hurt, eventually this leads to insomnia and in some cases hallucinations and histera. Then Jack disappears for a while making them think they're finally okay and he's gone until he wasn't."
The scoff that left your lips echoed through the quiet room, breathing out the nicotine smoke from your Cancer stick.
So Jack was an antisocial loser and took out his lack of social skills on people who could.
"No one knows of Jack's real identity. Police have reported that the man has lived many lives and has owned many faces for the past 11 years. Reporters have tried their hardest for the past 4 years to get a one on one interview with the man but unfortunately he refuses to talk only resorting to violence."
A reporter says he went for a handshake and left with two missing fingers.
Another says he watched the man bang his head on the wall hard enough to bleed when he asked the murderer's real name.
A broken arm??
âFuckâ you huff flicking the ash at the butt of your cigarette. You stare at the mugshot photos supplied at the end of the article. Dark wide eyes, shaggy black hair falling over his forehead, the piercings sticking from the bridge of his nose eyebrow and top lip.
The look definitely screams psycho butâŠ. he was kinda hot. It took everything in you not to go and click the endless fanfiction that you stumbled upon.
A pair of warm lips press onto your shoulder causing you to jump. Turning to look over your shoulder at the shirtless sight of Kim Namjoon.
âWe have to be up in four hours, baby, come back to bed.â
You hum into his embrace with a pout stubbing out the cigarette into the pink ashtray beside your computer. âDid you know Jack went through eight lawyers? Until one day he randomly called Kim Seokjin. That high profile guy from the law firm we're partnered with? they must know each otherâ
Though Namjoons attention was not on the words that were leaving your mouth. Hands wander all over your body while placing kisses on your neck, and cheeks.
âHe literally bit the finger of the last reporter clean off. Like do you know how much force you have to put into that? I think he reads too much gothic literââ
Cutting you off with a quick grab of your jaw turning your head to connect his plump lips to own. Pulling away with a cheeky dimpled smirk, âIâm not sure how I feel about you talking about another man.â
âWell you shouldn't feel any type of way because you aren't MY man.â
You squeal when you're lifted up from your chair and throw over a broad shoulder. He huffs when he throws you onto the memory foam comforter, your (his) shirt lifting up your thighs exposing your bare cunt. Immediately his big body was hovering over you as he slightly pressed his body weight onto you.
âGet off you dickâ pushing and smacking his tan shoulders but that did nothing for you at this moment. âWell I'm trying to put it in you.â
He bullies your legs up over his shoulders as he taps his hard piece against the wetness between your thighs. âIf something happens to me during this case I swearâ choking on your words as he slowly but surely presses his thick head into your cunt.
âFuck â may the man himself strike me down.â
Hand reaching to grip your throat smashing your lips together. Luckily your mind left the thoughts of the serial killer , the only thing on your mind right now was Namjoon and his ridiculously large cockm
It wasn't weird for you to obsess over your assignments to the point where it was all you thought about. Everyone does that.
Though this one you couldn't seem to finesse your way out of. Without the help of the late Kim you'd have to pull your own strings to get what you wanted and now that Namjoon was in charge he loved making your life harder.
âY/n.â
Your head snaps up from your laptop hand stalling from moving on your notepad face to face with gorgeously pale Detective Min Yoongi.
âYoonieâ you smile, motioning for him to sit in front of you. He looked different from when you last saw him all the months ago, more tired and cat- like you guessed it was from the heavy responsibilities that came with the position as Chief of Seouls police department
âDid you just call to look at me?â
âSorry it's just been . . a whileâ you push the large Iced Americano towards him as a peace offering. He gladly accepted it with an amused raise of an eyebrow, âYou know I just wait for your call.â
âThe phone works both waysâ you internally wince , you sounded like an estranged father talking to his child.
âWhat do you want?â A frown spread across your face and lips, shutting your laptop. âI can't call an old friend for a friendly coffee date.â
You waited for his answer as he took his time generously drinking from his plastic cup. With a smack of his lips he sat the cup down leaning back with his arms crossed over his chest.
âYou only call me âYoonieâ when you want somethingâ eyes scanning over the scatter of papers and notes taking up your side of the table.
âThis must be seriousâ
Hands going to clasp under your chin you sigh, cutting the bullshit. âThree years ago you were the lead investigator on the Jack in the box case which brought you from rookie detective to Chief of police.â
âI was wondering if you could help old friend out tell me what you know about-â
âNo.â He cuts you off with little to no thought.
âNo? Why not? This isn't our first rodeo Minâ
There were plenty of times Yoongi helped you with stories without a second thought. He'd give you case files, witnesses, and anything you needed but why not now?
âAnybody but himâ
You scoffed at him, irritation rising in your body. âI need this story not anyone else.â
âWell I can't help you, princess.â
âThat's bullshit!â Your voice raises causing a couple people around you to turn their attention towards the two of you. He stood up, chair scraping the floor, slamming a few dollars on the table. âCall me if you need anything else.â
Turning on his heel he leaves you sitting there in your slowly growing rage. You quickly hopped from your seat chasing after him, managing to catch up with his long strides. âYoongi slow down dammitâ
He twirls around grabbing onto you by your arm, âWho gave you this story.
âNamjoon he-â you whine as his grip tightens on your arm as his eyes slit. The angry red scar on his face makes his angry stare look even more intimidating. âYou don't understand how dangerous Jack is. Just because he's behind bars doesn't mean he won't have people on the outside that will whack you for being a nosy reporter.â
He softens his hold, lifting his hand to rub your cold cheek. âIf something happens to you. . .â He shakes his head letting you go.
âSit this one out Y/N I don't want to see you in our precinct mortuary.â with that he walks away disappearing into the crowd.
You sniff doing the walk of shame back to the Café sitting back in your seat with your head in your hands
Detective Min Yoongi.
âExcuse me Maâamâ the blonde barista came over holding a box of blueberry doughnuts which happened to be your favorite. âIt's on the house.. everyone saw your fight with your boyfriend, manager said this might help cheer you up.â
âOh! Thank you but he wasn't my boyfriend, just a work colleague.â You tried to defend yourself but the sympathy in his eyes only grew so you accepted the treat with another thank you. âWhat is your name? I've never seen you here before.â
A soft brightens his pretty face, eyes scrunching slightly adding to the prettiness of his face. âPark Jimin, Maâam.â
MEANWHILE
The buzz of the electrically wired door opening didn't alert the man that stayed deep in the corner of his cell. âLong time no see.â
âWhy now?â the visitor asks, âAfter all this time you choose now.â
He giggled, the haunting sound bouncing off the walls. âDid you bring what I asked forâ
The visitor threw the pictures and the box of cigarettes into the cell. âAnswer my question.â
âIt's been three longgg years.â He finally answered, moving from his corner to pick up the photos. âTell me is she this gorgeous in person?â
âJust for her?â
âAnd I need to stretch my legsâ he laughs louder this time the high pitched sound echoed even through the thick steel door that kept him locked in tight.
Jack was ready to play more games

While we're at it. Here's the Radio Adelaide interview!
Transcript under the cut!
Interviewer: What's been going on with me earlier today was I spoke with Dan and Phil, who are on their Terrible Influence tour at the moment. I think they're in Sydney right now. Even though I had to call them on the phone via England, they're going to be on at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre next week, Monday the 16th of December. And these guys, they're a British internet- YouTube- radio hosts. They're critics of games. They're book authors. Dan and Phil, they're currently in Australia having their Terrible Influence tour which lands in Adelaide at the Entertainment Centre next week. And it's attempting to take back what the internet took from them. So it's allegedly a screamingly hilarious live stage show. I have no doubt that it is hilarious. They're older, gayer. Phil's gone blonde evidently and nothing is off limits. Now I was brought to the attention of them by some younger folk, who asked me to ask them some certain questions and throw some sort of slightly strange questions at them. And I haven't got time to include all of those questions. And also I had a call after the interview from one of the duo suggesting that âehh, you might get trolled if you ask a question like that and people misinterpret itâ because I was asking- I believe they've become a couple. I'm not sure if they've got married but they may have got married or they may just be, like, going steady but they're a terrific pair of comic lads. In the- in the vein of Kenny Everett, sort of. They don't have a TV show as such. They were both YouTubers, which means that they had little YouTube shows and then they started guesting on each other's show and then they eventually started doing stuff together. Very interesting lads. And I just really want to play the interview now.
Dan: I've got a mullet now that I'm in Australia because apparently that's what the people do. I just think Australians have more fun. So I wanted to appropriate a bit of the culture while weâre here doing the show.
Phil: I think it's more of a micro mullet, Dan, though. You know, you haven't gone full mullet, it's more of a microâŠ
Dan: It's a mullet without the T. It's just a mull-e.
Interviewer: (laughs) Mull-e. All right. Just with that sort of hard...
Dan: Without the T, yeah.
Interviewer: Hard E on the end. How has your tour been going so far, gentlemen?
Dan: It's been amazing to be in Australia. No offence. We loved having a great time in America. But we're very happy to be in Australia. Although â I know it's summer. Why is it so hot? Nowhere on Earth it should be this warm.
Interviewer: You haven't reached Adelaide yet, have you?
Dan: No, God. Don't tell me it's warmer.
Interviewer: Yes, yes. We're in the middle of a very dry, arid area. Very isolated. A long way from anywhere. But there's only about maybe 30 or 40 tickets left at your gig here.
Dan: We're happy for the people of Adelaide. You know, they're out here in that dry, arid desert. And there's nothing to do but come to the Dan and Phil show. And we love them for that. They're all making responsible financial decisions. So we're very grateful for all the people that are coming to the show.
Phil: And if there's 40 people listening, come hang out with us. It's going to be a fun time.
Dan: Yeah. What else are you doing on that night?
Phil: We're going to be pumping the air con out.
Dan: Yeah, just come to have somewhere cool to sit in the theatre. You know what I mean?
Phil: Yeah.
Interviewer: Are you collecting things from your hangouts that you're going to discuss at the next show? Like before a show, if people hang out with you, give you a piece of artwork or a little letter or a note, something like that. Do you then discuss it in front of the next...
Dan: Oh, a big trendy thing these days. Yeah. Taylor Swift has started this trend of the bracelets that people spell out things on. So people would make like a little bracelet that says Dan or Phil in beads. And the other day I had someone that gave me a bracelet that said Vegemite on it. (Interviewer laughs) And I was like, what the heck? And they said, you don't understand. This is incredibly culturally important. So I was like, okay, thank you. I will cherish this Vegemite bracelet.
Phil: Yeah. I got one that said Koala Daddy. I'm not sure what that meant, but-
Interviewer: Koala Daddy?
Phil: Yeah. I think that's what they were calling me.
Interviewer: Have you actually dipped your tongue into any Vegemite as yet?
Phil: I have. I would have to say it was one of the most horrific experiences of my life. I'm sorry.
Dan: What, Phil, you don't like a yeast-based condiment?
Phil: No.
Dan: How dare you.
Phil: Dan loves it though. He's a bit of aâŠ
Dan: I'm just a yeasty kind of guy.
Interviewer: Yeah. It's kind of up there with Marmite, isn't it?
Phil: It is, but I only eat sweet things, so I couldn't handle it. But Dan was eating his second portion of toast this morning. He loved it.
Interviewer: Yeah, yeah. It's good for you.
Phil: And last time we were in Adelaide, we did a vlog where we explored the town, didn't we? We got some Tim Tams. We did a Tim Tam slam.
Interviewer: Fun!
Dan: Yeah, the national sport.
Interviewer: The national sport, sucking coffee through a Tim Tam.
Dan: Hell yeah.
Phil: I can get down with that.
Interviewer: Yeah yeah. It's a lot of fun to do. You realise that our Premier is the one who started the ball rolling with the social media ban for under 16-year-olds? You're lucky that you're here now at this stage of your career rather than at the beginning of your career because there's a lot of young people who have grown with you who will be able to come and see your show.
Dan: Yeah, absolutely.
Interviewer: Are you relying on them sort of moving forward with you?
Dan: People have been with us for a long time and people tell us some things and it's very disturbing.
Phil: Yeah, we've had some people meet us that are like, I watched you 10 years ago, I'm still watching you now. I've got a whole child now and it's like, what is happening? (Interviewer laughs) Time isnât real.
Interviewer: It's kind of a historic moment. You're probably the first English lads to have linked in to YouTube and the internet and gone off the way that you have.
Dan: No, we were, well, we come from an early generation. Phil has been doing it so long that you couldn't even make a career off YouTube yet. There was no monetisation. He was just doing it out of boredom. That's how terrifying it is.
Phil: I'm a YouTube dinosaur, so yeah, I think definitely I was one of the first ones to do it. And it's crazy that we're still doing it now, 15 years later.
Interviewer: It's basically become a career for you, hasn't it?
Dan: Absolutely. And none of it was planned. It's been a constant, you know, runaway train since day one. And the emergency brakeâs gone off a long time ago.
Interviewer: What kind of experiences are you getting to have in your downtime while you're in Australia this time around?
Dan: Well, I wanted to go to the beach and then Phil said there's a high chance we're going to get eaten by a shark. And I was like, a high chance? I don't know about that. And then we asked a guy and he was like, oh, no, they're out there. I see them every week, so...
Phil: I'm hoping to look into the eyes of a wombat and have an emotional connection.
Dan: A deep spiritual moment, ok.
Phil: My favourite animal.
Interviewer: A wombat?
Phil: Yeah, I love a wombat.
Dan: Underrated.
Interviewer: Do you like the hairy-nosed wombat or just the plain old brown one?
Phil: I'm not sure of the difference. Maybe I need to find that out. Maybe that's going to be my quest in Adelaide.
Dan: You need to meet both and make a decision.
Phil: Yeah I will.
Interviewer: Yeah, if you come face-to-face or nose-to-nose even with a hairy-nosed wombat, he's more likely to roll over and let you cuddle his tummy. The other ones have got a wet nose -
Phil: Okay, good to know.
Interviewer: -and they're a little bit more aggressive.
Phil: Okay.
Dan: Sounds like me.
(Interviewer laughs)
Interviewer: Have the audiences been laughing at all the right spots so far?
Dan: Definitely. And they've been laughing at all the inappropriate spots where they're not supposed to as well. So we'll take it. You either have an audience that laughs all the time, even at inappropriate moments, or a quiet one. And I don't want a quiet one.
Phil: Also, the good thing about our show is we try to give everyone a recap of everything that's happened in the last 15 years. So if you're like, oh, I used to watch Dan and Phil a while ago, you can still come along and you're going to get right up to speed.
Dan: We know that people are dragging their husbands, their mothers, their older sisters to the show. And these people are like, what the heck is going on? So don't worry, we covered the base.
Interviewer: Sounds pretty darn good to me. I hope you have a fantastic time in Adelaide and you continue to enjoy yourselves.
Dan: Thank you.
Interviewer: Ride the wave. Don't worry about sharks.
Phil: Excellent. Well, yeah, we're looking forward to it. Thanks. Nice to speak to you.
Interviewer: You too. Cheers, lads. Dan and Phil.
Phil: Cheers!
Dan: Bye.
Interviewer: They'll be at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre next Monday coming on the 16th. So if you are keen to see them do their thing live on stage, go and join the masses that have already bought their tickets. Get in while you can.

Disclaimer: This is pure indulgence okay. It's my interpretation of the Force, my view of the Jedi after ep 8, and my theory of what happened. P/S: pls read tag for TWs
PPS: If you didnât know yet, Manny did a futuristic Sci-Fi podcast where he voiced a soldier. Theres quite a bit of injury involved.. if you wanna have some auditory aids for his voice and umm.. other stuff. Itâs called Marigold Breach, itâs on Apple Podcast, Spotify, Realm and Youtube. (fork, I sound like an ad. Im not being paid I swear) WC: 1.6k
Never before in the time you were intuned with the Force have you felt so lost. So⊠unbalanced. When normally, tasks and missions were approached in a calm and collected manner, with a clear and peaceful mind, it had since warped into frantic breathing and a thundering heart, engulfed in compromising emotions.
Every sound grated, every jolt of the ship you were flying felt like a quake and you scrambled to keep the small craft stable. You couldn't afford major turbulence, not with him in such a state.
But you went as fast as you could, desperate to get into lightspeed so that all traces of you and your passenger are gone. As far as you could, though you doubt that you would find a corner of the galaxy that could hide you both. They would find you, you know this to be fact. It would only be a matter of time.
Fear threatened to consume you and for once; you were tempted to let it. After what you have seen, after what you have discovered; the teachings of the Jedi no longer seemed as righteous as you once thought it was. You scoffed, feeling stupid. Not once did you ever question your environment or the teachings of the Masters' as you rose through the ranks, from fledgling to Padawan. You took their word as law. After all, they were the Jedi and you wanted to be just like them.
Now, the thought of the Knights you had so venerated left you angry and confused. Hypocrites; all of them. All they wanted was power. Power over the Republic. Power over the Senate. And they had the audacity to condemn those who wanted to keep power for themselves.
Screw them.
xxxx
The planet you randomly chose was amber in colour, ringed with a manageable asteroid belt.
You were never really good at landing. In your impatience, you would misjudge the thrust and would sometimes send the ship careening too fast. And it was always resulted in a bruised chest; and an even bruised ego after the lecture your Master would unleash upon you.
The thought of your Master sent a lance through your heart; but you pushed it away and fought to calm down as you attempted the landing. You had wanted to be gentle, to make it a smooth landing. You managed; barely. The moment you touched down, you were out of the pilot's seat and into the belly of the ship.
He was exactly where you left him on your cot, stomach down. Had you not been so intuned with him, had you not been able to hear his soft breaths, you could have sworn he was dead. He should have been dead.
The memory of what you witness in secret breached your mind. You remembered the shock you had to bite down, the scream you had to swallow when you witness what happened to him.
How could she do that, to her own Padawan.
Shaking your head of the dark thoughts, you pulled out the emergency kit, grabbing saline and gauze and bacta patches into your arms. On your way to him, you also grabbed an IV drip.
The smell of charred flesh turned your stomach and you swallowed to keep nausea at bay as you kneeled by his side. His tunic was in taters, pieces of the material burned and melted onto his skin. Dirt and mud slicked his back, mixing into the red exposed flesh. You choked down a sob. You whispered his name.
A soft groan reached your ears, then a gasp.
"No, no, don't move." You reached for his shoulder, grasping gently, and you could feel the muscles tightening. "Shh⊠I'm here. It's just me."
Recognition smoothed his features and your name escaped his lips before his eyes fluttered open. His hand lifted but before it could reach your face; his body spasmed and he cried out.
"Fuck," You moved quickly, gently peeling his ruined tunic from his body. The moment you made contact; he whimpered. His body shook with the agony and your heart broke once more. "I know⊠I know. I'll be quick, I promise." His back was torn violently, almost shredded, and the worst of the injury was where the wounds connect, overlapped. Burnt muscle was exposed, black and red and oozing blood. Apologies fell from your lips like a prayer, begging for forgiveness for what you are about to do. Then, you flushed a gauze pad with saline and as gently as you could, wiped down the dirt.
You worked as carefully as you could, ignoring his cries and sobs. His body tensed then shook then tensed again every time you touched him. "Almost there. I'm almost done," Your voice cracked, the efforts to hold back tears and nausea proving too much.
As the pile of soiled gauze beside you grew; the blood trickled to a stop and finally, you were able to place the bacta patch on him. "This will help, okay." You told him, but he had long since passed out. You were mostly talking to yourself. "It's going to be over soon."
Once the bacta was on, you sat back and finally let your tears fall. He was unconsciousness, but alive. Thankfully alive. Wiping your face with your sleeves, you stood up and finally initiated ground security protocols.
xxxx
Something was approaching. You looked back and all you see was darkness but you kept running.
Exhaustion weighed down on you. It had been days. Fear slithered in your chest, wrapping around your heart, constricting your lungs. Anger and shame flared inside you, threatening to consume.
A crack of lightning, and a snake lunged at you and your back seared in an unimaginable pain. White hot and blazing. You felt your flesh rip and your vision blacked out. And then, cold. Freezing cold.
You ended and you began.
xxxx
The gasp that tore through your throat hurt like a mudscuffer. You blinked, frozen for a few seconds before feeling came back into your limbs.
The thing about Force dreams was that they don't normally show you the good. Most of the time, it was almost always something dark. But a Jedi is supposed to control their emotions, to release one's self and let go. Selflessness, it was the mark of a true Jedi.
Despite you renouncing the Order, you went through the motions of calming yourself down, or reigning in your emotions.
Itâs been a few days⊠or what felt like a few days. The planet cycle is foreign to you and youâve essentially lost track of time.
You looked over at the other occupant of the ship and sighed heavily. He was twitching as well, in his sleep, something you were familiar with.
You walked over and gently checked on the bacta. It was one of your last supplies but at least it was working. The wound was healing. Scarred⊠but healing. There will be mobility issues and you doubt if he would ever get his full range of motion, much less the ability to swing a saber again. Still, you wouldn't put it past him. He is as stubborn as you are.
You remembered growing up with him, the both of you in the Academy.
He was strong. Both of you were, but unlike you, he was the nail that stuck out. Where you obeyed, and did as you were told, he questioned everything. Where you hid your true emotions, he was not afraid to let it show.
And you were glad for it. Had he not done what he had done, questioned and researched, poked and prodded, you wouldn't have seen the true face of the Jedi Order. You wouldn't have known that they were just as power-hungry and backstabbing as the rest of the pirates in the galaxy. They just covered it under the guise of the greater good.
But in the end, he was also the one who paid the price.
They did not know you stole a ship and followed them. They did not know you saw them string him up and strip him of his lightsaber.
You heard his terrified pleas but they fell on deaf ears when it came to his Master. And yours.
He was a child, barely 20 years old. You both were, but they did not see him anymore. The pupil they once treasured. In their eyes, he needed to be eradicated. Just because he wanted to draw power from a source that was forbidden to them.
The buzz of an activated saber drew your attention to the lightwhip of Master Vernestra and your eyes widened in shock. Surely, she wouldn't, you thought.
But you were wrong.
All it took was one strike and his scream would haunt your nights for a long time.
You waited until they left. You had to. And once you were sure they were no longer around, you rushed to his side. It was then you decided you were not coming back.
The sound of your name pulled you from your anger and you turned to see him watching you.
"You're causing a quake," He remarked, and the chattering of loose metal around you ceased. You took a deep breath and reigned it in.
You scooted closer to him and leaned in close. You took stock of him. He was pale but at least he was lucid. His dark brown eyes were clear, which was another good sign.
"So⊠the favored pupil⊠finally left the nest, huh? Didn't think⊠you had it in you."
And he was teasing you.
And it broke you. You drank him in like a person obsessed, trying to make sense of what you were feeling. Anger, fear, confusion, relief. And something else you couldnât name. But they roiled together inside you making tears pool in your eyes and your lips wobble.
"What⊠What are we going to do?"
His touch on your face and your eyes closed. He was real. He was alive.
"We'll survive." He told you. "We'll survive."

Now that the dust has settled on Suffering Game, I'm gonna need everyone to take a deep breath and listen up for a second.
The final book in the series is next. We probably have over a year to wait for it. That gives everybody plenty of time to adjust your expectations.
The last book is going to encompass two arcs. They can't fit in every single thing. And they shouldn't. Condensing a story that took 81 hours to tell down to seven palatable books, you're going to lose a lot. You have to. It's the nature of the medium.
There are going to be whole Stolen Century cycles that are skipped over. There will be characters that will be cut completely. There are going to be Story and Song battles that took a long time in the show shrunk down to a page or two in the book. There are going to be additions that will stray from the podcast's canon. And there will definitely be omissions that will disappoint some people.
I could go on and on about how the publishing industry works and how the boys don't have carte blanche to make the book as long as want to, but I feel like that's all been said before. Just try to remember that the books were never meant to be a shot-for-shot remake of the podcast. They are their own thing, and we're so lucky that we get to have both.
So adjust your expectations. Have a realistic idea of what the final volume can be and go into it grateful that this story exists and we get to experience it in two forms. You'll enjoy it so much more if you do.

More thoughts on supporting GO S3
I will always be grateful to GO for giving me comfort in troubling times, but now I find it difficult to support a new season of the series that mainly benefits an alleged perpetrator.
Five credible sexual assault allegations against Neil Gaiman and he's still capable of successfuly releasing another project under his name. Season 3 being released helps him to keep his status as a lucrative creator in the entertainment industry and this helps him to conserve the power that has allowed him to get away with it for so long. His PR team has been making a great work burying the news about the allegations and sadly people hyping Good Omens season 3, without mentioning the allegations, inadvertendly helped on this as well.
However, my opinion will not determine the future of the season. We could assume that Amazon has already invested a lot in the production to just abandon it, so the second best thing would be to ask Amazon to fire Gaiman, he could secretly keep working on the series and the scripts were mainly written by him (the actors and everyone involved will voice Gaiman's words, ugh), and the series will be promoted undeniably mentioning him as one of the creators (I'm sorry for the victims having to hear people praising his name everywhere once again :c), but luckily the news about the allegations would also spread further, more people would come to know about the dangers of Gaiman's predatory behaviour and he would see some consequences.
I still think that cancelling the season would be the best case scenario, but firing him resoundingly and making the reasons for his dismissal heard far and wide might be a reasonable middle ground.
This is just my opinion, but I understand that at the end of the day it's an individual decision whether or not to support the third season.
I'm just going to ask everyone to please reflect on the power Gaiman gains from the projects that are released under his name (not just financially).
Thanks to everyone who has spoken up about the SA accusations even if it hurt to learn that someone who helped create such beloved stories ended up doing so much damage as well.
Here there is a great post that presents actions that fans can take in support of firing Gaiman, still having Season 3, and not ignoring that the allegations exist.
(Petitions, extra steps, etc.)
Thanks a lot to the creator of the card!
Update:
It has been confirmed that both Gaiman and his own production company are out of the project, thanks to everyone who supported his dismissal!
The changes made for the GO final serve as a message to the creators and everyone abusing of their power:
If you harm people, it will not be without consequences for you and the things you profit from financially and professionally.
Power to the victims. They were brave enough to share their stories. You will never be forgotten.
Scarlett, K, Claire, Caroline, Julia, Courtnee...
Still sceptical about supporting the victims? I recommend reading:
Staying neutral until Neil Gaiman is convicted by the courts?
Falling Safes (I very much recommend reading this one)
Here there is a great summary of the available sources (Podcasts links, transcripts, etc.): Credits for the round up to Muccamukk.
Thank you to all those who continue to speak out about the allegations and do not let the voices of the victims fall into oblivion.

Happy #AudioDramaSunday wanderers! Looking for a show to fill the void now that the Fringes is over? Well, look no further as today we're shouting out some excellent shows to fall in love with now that our show has concluded! Let's get started!
Starting things off with @souloperatorpod which was created by our very own Marigold, @totcoc0a ! Soul Operator is horror and mystery and ttrpg inspire amazingness. Everything Tot has done with this show sings in the best of ways and @strautmaskreplica's editing is divine
@grottopod is liminal horror about grief and caving with original music and cover songs in each episode and it's absolutely fantastic. Our very own @taytayheyhey is one of the main characters and does amazing work! @athansmusic has ripped my heart out and honestly? Worth it.
@woebegonepod starts as a fictional game and becomes time travel, murder, and cowboys. It also has amazing original music its episodes and while most of it has been just Dylan's voice acting, the VAs he has in the later seasons are wonderful. This show defies genre and I love it
@tellnotalespod has ghosts! And grief! And convoluted science about ghosts and grief! It is the kindest show about ghosts you will ever encounter and has made me cry so much. Leon Egan poured his whole heart into this show and it shows in every facet of it
Would this really be a recommendation list from me if I didn't mention @ethicstownpod ? Imagine if moral quandries carried real world weight and then turn that guilt up to 11 and you have Ethics Town. I adore this show and everything that it has become and I cannot WAIT for S3
It also wouldn't be me without mentioning The Technomancy Project which is another genre mashup in the best of ways it's got horror it's got sci fi it's got magic it's made me cry it's great!
@thekilda is part of the reason that the Fringes happened at all. Seeing this dark fantasy cult stuff podcast from the ground up inspired me to finish writing the Fringes and I'm eternally grateful. It also introduced me to Michelle Kelly's work and then she became Alexandria!
@doyoucopypod is another show about grief (why do I love so many shows about grief?) with horror and fantasy elements and it squeezes my heart in my chest. @delaylays has created one of my favorite series of all time with this show and I know s3 will destroy me
@allatseapod is horror-ish microfiction about being stranded- you guessed it- at sea. Noah Bell's voice acting and writing are both phenomenal and i am desperate to find out how Feb got themself into this mess they're in
@audistorium is an anthology which runs all over the genre-sphere and has some of the best writing and sound design I've ever heard. It's got an episode for every kind of listener and Landon Lemon Whisnant does excellent voice work in it!
@thenightpost has cozy horror vibes and also respect the post office which is something we should all do more. The magic in this world is so intriguing and the characters are so engaging and all of the work in it is wonderful I cannot recommend it more
@hinaypod also falls into cozy horror for me but more along the lines of "Motzie Dapul has a very soothing and cozy voice and OPE NOPE THERES THE HORRORS!" Im very early on still but the weaving of magic and folklore and Filipino culture is fantastic (Also they're crowdfunding for season 3 on ko-fi and you wanna back it soooo bad https://ko-fi.com/hinaypod/goal?g=34)
And finally (for this post at least) we have @camlannpod which is the most hopeful post apocalypse show I've ever encountered. It has Arthurian legends, folklore, mythology, beautiful music, brilliant performances, excellent writing, and Paul Warren, what more could you want?
If you're looking for more from me to fill the void, then you're in luck as @forgedbondspod starts on the 18th!! If you wanna get access to that even sooner, it will be going like for crowdfunder backers and patrons over at patreon.com/pinetreepods on the 14th!
Work and working on Forged Bonds has kept me busy so I haven't had as much podcast listening time but I'm hoping to get back in the swing of listening and Audio Drama Sunday posting again soon!!

Seb speaking about his childhood makes me feel so sad for him đ https://x.com/vbarn3s/status/1868325549015216375?t=CkpQLo4YaMbTa3g_wBop5A&s=19 thank God his mom always made it home and I'm so glad they both are living their best life nowadays, they deserve it after so much shit they went through đ„ș
Oh Sebastian đ„șâ€ïž Oh my gosh, I love this man so much, it's ridiculous. I'll never get enough of hearing him talk about his childhood, but at the same time, it also never stops being heartbreaking, does it? The images of little Sebastian anxiously awaiting his mom's return after work, or going to a school (multiple schools, really) where he didn't know anyone and didn't speak the language, or having to take the train home by himself at 8 or 9 years old. So glad he and his mom stuck together and are still so close to this day â€ïž
My gosh, it just really tugs at the heartstrings, and it also makes me SO incredibly proud of him. Of everything he's accomplished in his life, his drive, of the kind and wonderful person he became despite (or maybe because of) the things he went through as a child... it's really something. He is a very special man, and I am so glad we get to know him a little bit, and so grateful for his openness. It's so important and beautiful, and so is he â€ïž
(I added both audio fragments together, so there's a weird transition in the middle, but anyway)

WIBTA for bringing a fake boyfriend to my friend's party?
to condense as best i can, i (30, transwoman, city of pop. >10million) recently become the mother hen to a brood of wonderful baby queers (8 total, 17-23, boys and girls, all moved for school in the last year or so, most had never set foot in ANY city before). we live on the same floor of an apartment complex, and we've all grown very close over the past months; i help them use the metro, they tell me when they're going on dates and text so i know they got home safe, i cook weekend dinners, and they all slept in my living room for a week when another apartment on the floor was broken into. i think of them as somewhere between friends, younger relatives, or even my own children.
recently, one of the older ones (21) has realized he's also trans and come out to me, and i'm so proud and grateful that i can guide him through his early transition. unfortunately, there's his mother.
he'd first told me her response to his coming out was "better than expected", so i assumed she was tolerant, if not supportive yet. i've since learned she continually misgenders him, thinks this is a "tomboy phase" he'll marry out of someday, and has begun listening to more right-wing podcasts and news sites in order to "hear from both sides".
along with the other 7 kids, i've been invited to stay at the family's farm for his birthday in august, & while he's assured me she won't make a scene with company around, he's implied she has many opinions about my prescense, but said that i shouldn't tone myself down, and that if anything "it would be good for her to learn to be kind to you early, since we're family too now". two of the girls are partners, which the mother knows, but she does not seem to care about this and said that bringing a date was fine.
i have another friend (31) who's much more loudly queer than i am. on top of this, he's heavily tattooed (HUGE taboo here), rides a motorcycle, and is very outspoken and unshakable. i told him about all of this, and he offered to come along as my boyfriend, both to bother this woman, and so i won't be in a tiny (population SEVENTY-THREE!) unfamiliar town alone if anything happens. he's met the kids several times now, they get along well, and the birthday boy has said "that all sounds hysterical. do whatever you want."
my worry here is that the mother is already MUCH worse than he'd first lead me to believe, so i don't know that i can trust the kid's judgment that everything will be fine. i don't care about hurting this woman at all, and both i and my friend have dealt with even nastier people before so i'm not afraid of her, but i DO NOT want to do anything that could put this boy in a difficult position, especially since he'll likely be living with his family every summer until he's finished school, if not longer. i know what i can personally tolerate, but i don't know what he can, especially from a mother.
would i be an asshole to bring my "boyfriend" along? is it best to just go solo? or should i stay away entirely until he's back in the city?
What are these acronyms?
#mod opinion: op you are genuinely a wonderful person and i'm so glad your kids have someone like you#you've set up this safe supportive space and you really care about their well-being and comfort#that's amazing and i'm glad they have someone like you#aita#am i the asshole#reddit

Fun facts during the convention about Taz and Jeff (photos, autographs and panel)
- During the photo sessions, Taz would sometimes do a high kick, it was really nice to see that elsewhere than on the show or on his Instagram. Of course, some people asked Jeff stuff about Buggy like poking their clown nose. Someone even brought a pirate flag of Buggy's crew.
-During the panel Jeff talked about Taz's abs, joking about the fact that "he grates cheese directly on them" đ. I did the photo session with Taz just after the panel. I asked him politely for a hug, as I did with Jeff in the morning. Taz accepted and the photographer took the picture. During the hug I felt his six pack đ„”, so afterwards, I teased him by saying that Jeff was right about his abs. And he bursted out laughing.*
-Taz had taken a small break and came back with grapes, that he had given to the fans later, who were waiting in the very long queue for the autographs.
- Taz was so busy with us for the autograph session that he missed the scheduled panel and it has been rescheduled at 5 pm.
(* this is a comment from my own perception. It may sound weird, but I'm not a creep I promise lol. I remnd you that Taz often posts shirtless pictures of him so I'm not investing anything here. If that offends anyone in any way, I apologize.)
- A third actor came to host the panel, I think it was Sachin Sahel, and he was eating, so Taz sat down on the ground to let him sit in his armchair.
- Both Jeff and Taz are SO funny and nice but they were tired, especially Jeff who was jetlagged and repeated that it was why he looked sick. But he was such a joker during the Q and A session. He's a clown in real life too we could say. đ
-Jeff said Taz practiced some dishes and they ate them on set. And Jeff went on saying that there was "no need for him to have a cheesegrater cause he grates the cheese directly on his abs" đ. He said "ladies, he cooks really well". Like, bro acted like he was here to arrange a date or something đ€Ł
-Two times in a row, the questions were for Taz so Jeff asked "should I leave?" đ€Ł and he added "I'm in the cast too" and Taz said he's a sexy clown (AND the entire audience approved). I swear Jeff could be a comic. He said Taz is hot that's why he gets questions, and he played the disappointed guy because the girl had blue hair and though, she asked a question for Taz only lol. Those guys a really good pals.
-At one moment Jeff told that he was still doing "conference call", a comical podcast (you can find it on Spotify.) The third actor said the guys were the hottest guys of the panel. Jeff said "you heard that Superman? " cause Tyler Hoechlin was here and then added" I'm joking don't beat me... 'cause you're Superman"
- I only have a few pictures, unfortunately we were told not to take any while the photo shoots or the autograph sessions. And as a no VIP ticket, I was in the middle row during the panel so my pictures are blurry đą But I had a great day anyway.

"I'm honored to be here, Big fan of your work and i'm very grateful for being here." He smiles and leans a bit back in his seat.

âHello, nice to see you too.â You said shyly as you gave him your Negan funko pop.
âYou collect those?â He was surprised to see you with a Funko pop.
âYes, Iâm secretly a big geek. I have tons of those pops at home.â You admitted shameful.
He shook his head and told you he likes it and was hoping he could see your collection one day. He was secretly a big fan of your work as well and wants to know you better. You agreed on that, you texted him later that day through Instagram, sending him a picture from your geek room at home. You both met up weeks later at your house, giving him a full house tour.

âOh thank you, you look good as well. Iâm y/n.â You both smiled at each other and tried to have a normal conversation but it was more smiling than anything else. She was nervous but so were you. Norman noticed that and helped you guys out, making sure you saw each other more often.
Danai Gurira:

"I think we have, I'm Y/n nice to meet you." You smiled at her and she smiled back at you.
"Nice to meet you too, I'm Danai. I think we will get along just fine." She laughs as she points at the script.
"I think we will, we have too." You knew what she meant and joked back. one of the first jokes in your friendship that will blossom to something even more.

A Soulmate Who Wasn't Meant To Be [8] - Max Verstappen
written by alocon
Note: Name and Part One based on the song A Soulmate Who Wasn't Meant To Be by Jess Benko.
Summary: Mini chapter. When the FIA tries to stop you driving at the next grand prix weekend, the drivers decide to take a drastic, but necessary, turn to stand up for you.
Before you read: Use of Y/N
fc: Blanca Soler
[Previous Part] [Masterlist]
A Soulmate Who Wasn't Meant To Be- - MVÂč x Fem!OC
âSo, question for Y/N.â
You were currently sat in the interviews before the next race, in a press conference with you, Lance, Zhou, Logan and Nico. You had been expecting this question when it came but had not expected it only 3 minutes into the questions.
âWe hear you're under investigation by the FIA, would you like to expand on that and what you are under investigation for?â
âYes,â you sat up in your seat, more than happy to speak. âI have been put under investigation for creating a hostile work environment since 2019. Apparently, I have been acting hostile towards Christian Horner, despite the fact its more like the other way around.â You shrugged.
âRight.â The interviewer shrugged. âAnd how might this affect your driving?â
âWell, pending the results of the investigation, they may, as a punishment, revoke my super licence.â
âSo let me get this straight,â Crofty said, speaking up. âYou're at risk of losing your racing licence because of you allegedly being hostile to the Team Principal of Red Bull Racing since 2019?â
I nodded.
Lance then spoke up. âI think it's suspicious that these rumours suddenly came around just after a podcast episode about some of her treatment at Red Bull and a post of her and Geri together.â He said. âIt seems very strangely timed.â
âAlmost like they're trying to silence her for Christian's actions.â
The drivers in the conference all started defending you, putting a smile on your face. It was sweet to see them all so defensive over you, instantly jumping to your protection without even being asked their opinions.
âIt had been oddly timed.â You said. âAll of a sudden, after me putting in a complaint about Christian Horner to the FIA, I was the one under investigation. I think that it's ridiculous to be honest. I provided evidence - more than enough. And yet I am still the one under fire.â
âI hear a lot of drivers and other staff are supporting you.â Crofty said. âDo you have anything to say to that?â
âYes. I am so grateful for the way that the drivers have treated me, and other staff, both at Mercedes and other teams. I appreciate that they have been defending me to the FIA, and taking a stand with me against the unfair treatment that I have been under by Red Bull and the FIA in the past couple of weeks, and Red Bull since I joined.â
âSo are you still racing this weekend?â
âNo. They've told me I'm not allowed to race until the investigation is over.â you explained, frustrated.
The rest of the press conference went well and, soon, you were back in your drivers room and soon heard the door open. You looked up, seeing the drivers slip into your room. All of them.
âWe're here to take your mind off of all the bullshit going on. So. We have fifa, Uno, monopoly, Mario Kart, we got your switch so you can play animal crossing if you want,â Lando began to list off everything.
You chuckled, smiling sweetly at them at the kind kind actions of going out of their ways to try to cheer you up. So that's what happened. You all sat on the floor talking, playing games, chilling out and discussing how to sort this out when Charles came up with an idea.
âA strike.â
âA what?â You looked at the Monegasque, confused at the sudden outburst.
âWe could go on strike. Refuse to race until Horner is gone and the investigation is dropped.â
There were some cheers from the drivers.
âGuys. What?â You said when you saw the agreements. âYou don't have to do this.â you said.
âLet's vote then.â Charles said. âAll in favour?â 19 hands went up. âAll against?... Then it is decided.â
After some planning, it was in order.
El Plan (2025 Driver's Strike edition)
Step One: Pack our stuff.
You all got to work, packing out bags, everything we needed.
Step Two: Prepare the vehicles.
That went by quickly too.
Step Three: Tell Our Team Principals
You walked into the emergency meeting with George and Toto, sitting down.
âWhat's this about? What's going on?â He asked, confused.
âWe're going on Strike,â George announced.
âYou're doing what?â
âThis wasn't my idea,â you started. âBut one of the drivers suggested a full driver Strike. Because of the investigation.â
George started explaining the details. The plan. Afterwards, there was a moment of silence.
âFair enough,â Toto said. âI wouldn't be able to stop you and to be honest, I don't even want to. I don't want you losing your seat, Y/N. Go wild. Have fun. Call me when you're off strike and keep me updated, yes?â He said. You and George looked at each other, surprised it went so well.
Over in the Red Bull office, it wasn't going as well.
âYou're doing what?â Christian snapped, angrily.
âGoing on strike.â Max leant back in his chair.
âUntil the investigation is dropped, we will not race.â
âThis is insane! What is wrong with you?â He snapped angrily. âYou shouldn't do it if you want your contract renewed, Max.â
âI'm sure there are other teams who would happily take me,â He said standing up, walking straight out the door without another word, being quickly followed by his teammate.
Step Four: Announce the Strike.
âRight, hello,â Crofty said, looking at the camera. âSo, we've got a sudden broadcast request from the drivers so⊠that's what is happening here.â
Bernie spoke up. âWe have no idea what this is about. Take it away.â
Your designated speakers - Charles and Max - stepped up to take the mics.
Max got up his script. âToday, Charles suggested something and we did a vote, getting back unanimous agreement.â
âAll of the drivers on the current Formula One grid will be going on strike. None of us will drive until our demands are met.â Charles paused before speaking again. âDemand Number One: The investigation on the Mercedes-AMG Petronas driver, Y/N L/N, is dropped. The treatment she has received from both Red Bull and the FIA recently, and since 2019, has been absolutely unacceptable. They are trying to silence her and stop her from racing, so if she can not race, we will not race.â He looked at Max, nodding for him to read the next demand.
Max smiled, looking at the camera. âDeman Number Two: Christian Horner is removed as the team principal of Red Bull Racing indefinitely and an investigation is opened on Red Bull, Christian, and the head of the FIA. I should've stood up for the treatment of Y/N back in the day, and I didn't. But I will do it now. The treatment she had endured was something I would never wish on a driver. The constant hours of berating her for doing her job, and blackmailing her by threatening to reveal that she miscarried are unacceptable and they, Christian especially, should be taken into account.â
âWe want to make it clear that this was not the decision or suggestion of Y/N L/N. This was entirely my suggestion, and all of the drivers instantly agreed. Do not send her hate for this. We will ensure that anyone who has attended any races or paid to attend any of the races get compensated somehow, and we will ensure that every single person who has paid to attend the races gets an apology that it has had to go this far. Action will not be taken until we make a drastic move, so this is our drastic move.â Charles then said his final sentence. âNone of us will drive until our demands are met.â Charles repeated again.
-word count: around 1,300-
Hi All!!
Hope you're well. Here is a mini chapter for the Max story. Expect some drivers' strike chapters soon. This is unedited. Love you all x

Mark,
I've been going back through your DTWs and I just listened to the podcast where you talk about your dad. I wanted to give my condolences but also my thanks not only for sharing something so deeply personal and emotional, as well as gratitude for both you and Gene's positive influences on this world. Magic has brought so many people from so many backgrounds such incredible joy, including myself. I'm really grateful that I've had the opportunity to play and experience something made with so much heart and love and I am certain your father is beyond proud of you. Thank you once again for everything you've done and continue to do for the game Mark.
Thanks for listening to it and responding. It means a lot.

I did ask this to another blogger because I respect both of your viewpoints. I like hearing your analysis. I don't mean to send this to you also out of any disrespect.
OK..are Gillian and David really Mulder and Scully? Lack of communication that could clear up how they felt back in the days? He is like a little puppy and she is cold hard fierce who tries to shut off the world so she doesn't get hurt? No wonder they played those characters so well:) Thank goodness that THEY controlled the narrative to this discussion instead of having some kiss ass pompous interviewer trying to get them to truly talk about the tension so that we get "it was moist". Granted, that was a fun answer and brought out an interesting dynamic between the 2, but their frank and honest discussion is more true and loving. I love that D shared in the discussion and didn't take the interviewer seat like he has in the other podcasts. He actually participated in the real conversation and let it somewhat go in some areas naturally. Now, please, D or G, release the video so that we can see those lovely smiles and gazing eyes and, you know it happened, reaching out and touching each other.
I understand that completely, anon-- I used to (and still do) go to each inbox and ask the same question, even ones I'm principally against. Just want to know what they think, y'know?
Release the Gillian cut! XDDDD I don't think there is one; but maybe someone has clips on their phone of the two of them talking that day? That'd be fun.
You have a point, especially in the early days. David and Gillian were such young, green actors that Chris really had to cast for type.
But I WILL add: Half of the very close loved ones in my life are Gillian's (Gen X) generation, and the other half(ish) are David's (Boomer) or older. Each and every person I've talked to has said the same thing about the past: no one, and I mean no one, talked. Ever. Even in functional families; but especially in dysfunctional homes, with fragile mothers-- not without (varying) consequences. Communication was wired around what could be acceptably acknowledged without the whole house of cards tumbling down. Chris Carter slipped that into the themes of his show, too; and no wonder: his own childhood was turbulent, and communication a compoundingly fraught issue.
And I will also add, though I don't know how salient this point is: I have a Gen X mother who took one look at David, one look at Gillian, and a couple looks at their past interviews, and read them like a book. (So much so, that everything they admitted to in the podcast wasn't surprising, just confirming, for me.) I fed her bits of the Fail Better interview afterward, and she was nodding along to their interruptions and admittance that they had a hard time getting along-- she'd called that Gillian likely (accidentally) hurt David's feelings over the years unconsciously; and that DD grated on GA's nerves as much as she on his... and low and behold. But more importantly, she was nodding along to the communication issues section particularly: "Yes, that's how it was."
In short: I think Chris picked the people who could embody his characters' characteristics effortlessly. (But I also know, per his own words, that he cast for chemistry.) So, I agreeÂŹ.
What do you think, anon? :DDDDDD
Edit: Also agree concerning the pompous reporters. It was great to hear them without a third party trying to spin a narrative.

Hi, I love your writing! Iâd love a Travis one shot where heâs a guest on our podcast or weâre one of the sports interviewer after a game and we engage in a lot of flirty banter which ends up with him sliding in our dmâs!
Call Her Daddy?
Request? Yes/No! Description: Having the most famous podcasts on the internet, You have a guest who loves to flirt. Note: Thank you so much! It means the world. Here is your request! Much Love, TherapyCat21
"Hello, I'm Y/n and welcome to call her daddy, on today's episode we have three three-time Super Bowl champion and tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, please welcome, Travis Kelce!" I smiled and looked over at the 6'5 bearded man in the lavender fluffy chair with headphones and a mic.
He smirks before bringing the mic to his mouth "Hello, hello thank you for having me" He smiles at the camera and turns back to face me. He never fails to have a smile on his face.
"So congratulations on your current win, I was grateful to be one of the fans in the stadium watching live this year and it was amazing to witness, how have you felt recently after all the chaos with winning a third Super Bowl?" I ask.
"Uhm it definitely has been chaotic since but things are kind of slowing down now, right now I'm kinda just relaxing and taking a good time off, eating a bunch of junk food before the next season" he chuckles.
I laugh "Hey, I would do the same if I did what you do, what's your favorite junk food?" I questioned "Definitely gotta be spicy nacho Doritos or the chunky chips ahoy cookies. " he smirked
"ooh, those sound good! but the real question is, what drink?" I smirk back. "how bout this, I'll give you the brand and we both try to name the same?" he suggests. I nod in agreement "Okay, I'm down." I tell him.
"Okay so the brand is Fanta" he looks at me with a lazy smirk. I squint my eyes at him before they widen. He claps his hands together in excitement "You know damn well which flavor I'm talkin about! On the count of three, we say it at the same time!" He tells me. I nod
I laugh before sighing "Okay ready?" I questioned, He nods
"1!"
"2!"
"3!"
"GRAPE!"
I jump from my seat laughing, as I settle back in my seat, he leans over and we high five "That's my girl, I knew you'd get it, great minds think alike" he says with a lovesick smile.
I smiled back "This has been awesome, thank you so much for coming on today, I definitely needed this!" I say with the most genuine smile I've had in months. He nods, clasping his hands together "No thank you, It feels good to be interviewed like this, We really have to do this again." he suggests.
I nod over at him "Absolutely, thanks to Travis for making room and coming onto Call Her Daddy today," I look at the camera "Please remember to like and subscribe and remember to check back soon to see who the next guest is next week! Bye everyone!" I wave at the camera before the signal is off.
I look at Travis "Seriously thank you so much for making time and coming on today, it means a lot " I tell him as I stand up from my seat. He stands "No thank you needed, It was refreshing, I needed this"
My social media manager comes over to us "Okay, can we get a picture of you two together to upload for this week's episode?" She questions.
We both nod and shuffle closer together and I finally see how tall he is compared to me, He places himself practically touching sides, throws his arm around my shoulder, and lays his head on the top of mine and we both smile as the picture is captured.
"thank you both so much," she says before walking to upload the picture.
We let go and hang out for a little longer before his manager tells us it's time for him to attend another event. We stand up from the seats we sat back on to talk more and hug each other goodbye.
I finally get back home and decide to take a shower and watch some TV with my cat when I get a notification, I open Instagram to see tons of notifications from the picture of me and Travis my manager posted for the new episode.
I look over to see a new message request, I click and see it's Travis, I smile before clicking the notification to see he tried sending me a message.
"I had an amazing time with you today, I was hoping we could do it again but this time at a nice restaurant at 8 this Friday? Let me know soon!"
I sit in shock before I respond
"Absolutely, here's my number so we can discuss this more (xxx-xxx-xxxx) ;)"
