Ghost Zone Breakout Au
So! Danny is missing. Maybe it's a Vivisection AU and he ran away, maybe he got trapped by one of his Rogues, either way, Danny is gone and his Rogues are free to spread across the planet.
Walker in particular has an interesting adventure.
After Danny trashed his Prison and broke Wulf out, people realized that it wasn't as impenetrable as he made it out to be. And what's an army of Immortal Criminals to do when given all the time in the world? They test each and every method they can to break in or to escape.
Danny's actions caused a Domino Effect that lead to Walkers Prison being torn apart from both the inside and the outside. He lost his Territory, his Power, and most of his Guards. So he decided to start again in the Mortal Realm.
And he found the perfect New Haunt.
Arkham.
He's never seen such a sorry Prison in his AfterLife (It's an asylum). Criminals breaking in and out every other week, no prisoner staying for longer than a month at most, and nobody is doing anything to fix it.
He needs to remedy this.
So one night, he and his Army of Ghostly Guards attack the Prison. They Overshadow whatever guards are on Duty, take control of the Prison Systems, and Initiate a Total Lockdown.
Walker then sends out a Message.
"People of the Mortal Realm. I an Warden Walker, the new Head of this here little Prison. We have seen how terrible this sorry excuse for a prison is, and decided to take it upon ourselves to fix it. From now on, we will be the Guards of this Arkham. Send your prisoners here, and they will stay here. Try to break in, and you will never leave. Try to force us out, and you will join our undead Ranks. This is not a Negotiation, this is not a Request, this is an Announcement. If you have a problem with this, then I will be happy for personally meet you. I am in need of new employees after all."
After this message, many tried to stop him, but none were successful. He didn't seem to understand that a Prison is meant to hold Prisoners for a determined amount of Time, not forever. Or that it wasn't a Prison in the first place, it was an Asylum to treat the mentally ill.
The Bats could do anything either. Any time they tried to take back the prison, they were beaten back by the Possessed Guards and Ghostly Guards patrolling the grounds. And they didn't want to hurt the Hostages.
They needed a solution, so they got to digging.
Apparently they weren't the only ones who were dealing with Ghost Related Issues. All across the world, powerful Ghosts were claiming large areas of land as their new Haunts, weaker Ghosts were running Rampant in the spaces in between, and JLD was being run ragged as they tried to help wherever they could.
It was a worldwide issue, and they needed to find the Cause.
After a lengthy investigation, they found that all the Ghosts originally came from one Place. A small town in Illinois where they had been trying to break into the Mortal Realm for years, but they had been stopped by another. A Ghost who protected the Mortal Realm from the powerful Spirits of the Dead.
If they had any hope of containing this threat, they needed his help. They needed to find Phantom.

chapter summary: You own a small bakery in Westchester. One day, Logan comes in for an order for the X-Mansion. After that he becomes a regular—something he persistently denies.
word count: 9.5k+
pairing: Logan Howlett x fem!reader
notes: i'm a sucker for baker!reader and logan. though this version of reader is a little bit more extroverted and less 'innocent' than the other baker!reader's i've seen. anyways, this is my entry for @yxtkiwiyxt and @lubdubology's valentine's writing challenge!
i'm not a valentine's girly, maybe because i just find it to be a commercial holiday with no meaning (or maybe because i'm 20 and my only valentine has been my dogs) but i hate chocolate and the holiday so...
warnings/tags: baker!reader, fluff, wrote this with x2 logan in mind, but you can imagine any logan, not proofread

Anytime the X-Mansion had a special occasion, they got baked goods from your bakery—a small shop in Westchester.
The first time Logan met you was by accident, or rather an order given to him by Jean. “It’s Rogue’s birthday. You don’t want her to miss out on havin’ a cake, do ya?”
Logan grumbled under his breath but didn’t argue. He wasn’t in the mood for errands, but Jean had a way of making things sound like a guilt trip, and he wasn’t about to deal with that all day. So, here he was, pushing open the door to some small bakery he’d never been to before. The smell of sugar and vanilla hit him immediately, warm and inviting, but he didn’t care about that—he just wanted to get the cake and get out.
The place wasn’t busy, just a couple of customers sitting at tables, sipping coffee. He stepped up to the counter, glancing at the display case full of pastries, then tapped the little bell once. A moment later, you stepped out from the back, wiping your hands on your apron.
“Hey, sorry about that—oh.” Your eyes flicked up, and you did a quick once-over, taking in the broad-shouldered, grumpy-looking man standing at your counter. “You’re definitely not Jean.”
“Yeah, no kiddin’.” Logan exhaled, already regretting this. “She sent me to pick up a cake for Rogue.”
“Right. The X-Mansion order.” You nodded, disappearing into the back. “Give me a sec.”
Logan drummed his fingers against the counter, glancing around. The place was small but homey, shelves lined with small bags of cookies, muffins, and whatever else people liked to buy on impulse. It smelled good—annoyingly good.
You came back out a few moments later, balancing a cake box in your hands. “Here it is. Vanilla with chocolate frosting, right?”
“Beats me. Jean just said ‘get the damn cake.’”
You huffed a short laugh, setting it down and ringing it up. “Well, let’s hope she ordered what Rogue actually likes.” You gave him a once-over again, tilting your head slightly. “You new around here? Don’t think I’ve seen you before.”
Logan pulled out his wallet, shaking his head. “Been stayin’ at the mansion a while now. Just don’t do bakery runs.”
“Shame. You seem like the type to appreciate a good cinnamon roll.”
He gave you a flat look. “Dunno what that means.”
“It means you’re a grumpy bastard, and grumpy bastards usually like cinnamon rolls.” You smirked, sliding the cake box toward him. “I have a self-proclaimed ability to guess what people like. You’re either cinnamon roll or an apple pie.”
Logan huffed, eyeing you like he couldn’t decide if you were messing with him or just plain strange. “That so?”
“Mm-hmm.” You leaned on the counter, clearly entertained by his skepticism. “And my guesses are usually spot-on.”
Logan crossed his arms. “What if I don’t like either?”
You raised an eyebrow. “Then you’re just lying to yourself.”
He exhaled sharply, shaking his head. “This what you do? Size people up based on pastries?”
“Works better than you’d think.” You tapped the counter lightly. “So, which one is it? Cinnamon roll or apple pie?”
Logan gave you a flat look, then sighed. “Pie.”
You grinned like you’d just won a bet. “Knew it.”
“Tch. Lucky guess.” He grabbed the cake box and turned toward the door, already done with this conversation.
“Uh-huh, sure.” You leaned on the counter, watching him. “Come back when you’re not on a mission, and I’ll prove it.”
He paused, just for a second, then shook his head and walked out. The bell over the door chimed behind him.
“See you later, sugar,” you called after him.
He didn’t look back, but you swore you saw the faintest twitch of amusement before the door swung shut.
---
It had been a few months since the last time Logan had been over to your bakery. Then Scott and Ororo cornered him, telling him that “it was the least he could do for Jubilee.”
“I’m not goin’ to the damn bakery again.” Logan said, crossing his arms over his chest.
Scott sighed, unimpressed. “Logan, come on. It’s just a cake.”
“You say that like it’s a quick in-and-out job,” Logan grumbled. “Last time I went, I got roped into some damn conversation about cinnamon rolls.”
Ororo raised an eyebrow. “And that was… a problem?”
“Yes.”
Scott and Ororo exchanged a look.
“Look, Jean’s busy, and we’re in the middle of planning the party,” Scott said, folding his arms. “All you have to do is pick up the order. That’s it. No small talk, no distractions.”
Logan exhaled sharply. “Fine.”
“That wasn’t so hard, was it?” Scott smirked.
Logan ignored him, grabbed his jacket, and headed out.
---
The bakery smelled just as annoyingly good as last time. Logan stepped inside, tapping the bell on the counter once, hoping you wouldn’t be as chatty this time.
You appeared from the back, wiping your hands on your apron before looking up. The second you saw him, a slow grin spread across your face.
“Well, well. Thought I scared you off for good.”
Logan sighed. “M’just here for the cake.”
“Uh-huh.” You grabbed the order slip from the counter. “Jubilee’s birthday, right?”
He gave a short nod.
You disappeared into the back, and Logan leaned against the counter, arms crossed. The place wasn’t too busy, just a few customers sitting at the tables, chatting over coffee. It was cozy, warm, the kind of place people probably lingered in for hours. Not his thing.
You came back a moment later with a cake box, setting it down in front of him. “Vanilla with strawberry filling. I think she mentioned something about pink being mandatory.”
Logan pulled out his wallet. “You keep track of all your customers’ favorite cakes?”
You shrugged, ringing him up. “Just the regulars.”
He scoffed. “I ain’t a regular.”
“Not yet.” You smirked, handing him his change. “Though, I gotta admit, I’m a little disappointed.”
Logan frowned. “What now?”
“You never came back for me to prove I was right about the pie.”
He rolled his eyes. “Didn’t see a reason to.”
“Oh, there was a reason.” You leaned on the counter, tilting your head slightly. “You just didn’t wanna admit I was right. Which is why you can’t get the cake until you try a slice of pie.”
Logan narrowed his eyes. “You serious?”
“As a heart attack.” You crossed your arms, matching his stare with a smirk. “One bite. That’s all I’m asking.”
Logan exhaled sharply, glancing at the cake box like it might disappear if he didn’t grab it fast enough. “I don’t got time for this.”
“Oh, but you do.” You were already turning, heading for the back. “Sit tight.”
“Damn it,” he muttered under his breath, but he stayed put.
A minute later, you came back with a small plate, a fork, and a slice of apple pie. You set it down in front of him like you were presenting something sacred. “Here. Try it.”
Logan glanced around, already regretting this. A couple of customers had noticed, though no one was paying too much attention. Still, he felt like he was being set up. “This ain’t poisoned, is it?”
You snorted. “Please. If I wanted to take you out, I’d do it the old-fashioned way.”
“Comfortin’.” He picked up the fork, giving you one last look before taking a bite.
Warm, just the right amount of cinnamon, flaky crust—damn it. He hated when people were right.
You leaned on the counter, waiting expectantly. “Well?”
Logan chewed, swallowed, and grunted. “S’fine.”
Your grin widened. “Fine?”
“Yeah.” He took another bite, mostly out of spite. “Nothin’ special.”
“Oh, now you’re just lying.” You tapped the counter. “Admit it. I was right.”
Logan shoved another piece into his mouth, refusing to say anything.
You laughed, shaking your head. “I’ll take that as a yes.”
He pushed the plate back slightly and reached for the cake. “That enough of a taste test for ya?”
“For now.” You slid the cake toward him, clearly enjoying this way too much. “But next time? You’re trying the cinnamon roll.”
Logan grabbed the box and turned for the door. “Ain’t gonna be a next time.”
“Uh-huh, sure.”
The bell chimed as he stepped outside, but he caught your voice just before the door swung shut.
“See ya, sugar.”
---
The bell over the bakery door chimed as Logan stepped inside, hands shoved into his jacket pockets. He wasn’t entirely sure why he was here. No one sent him this time—no guilt trips from Jean, no nagging from Scott. Just… a damn craving, apparently.
You looked up from behind the counter, eyebrows lifting in surprise before a slow smirk tugged at your lips. “Well, well. Didn’t think I’d see you again so soon.”
Logan grunted, eyes flicking to the display case. “M’just here to pick somethin’ up.”
“Oh, sure. Totally believe that.” You leaned on the counter, chin resting in your palm. “Let me guess—apple pie?”
He exhaled sharply, shaking his head. “You’re way too smug about this.”
“Because I was right.” You straightened up and grabbed a slice of pie from the case, sliding it onto a small plate. “But, you know, since you’re here, might as well test another theory.”
Logan eyed you warily. “What theory?”
Without answering, you turned and grabbed something else, placing it next to the pie—a cinnamon roll, warm and fresh from the oven.
You tapped the counter. “Go on.”
Logan huffed. “I didn’t ask for that.”
“Consider it a challenge.” You smirked. “If you don’t like it, I’ll let you walk out of here without any ‘I told you so’s.’”
He eyed you, then the cinnamon roll, then back at you. “…And if I do?”
“Then I get to gloat forever.”
He shook his head, muttering something under his breath, but grabbed the plate anyway. Pulling out a few bills, he slid them across the counter.
You rang him up, watching as he hesitated before finally tearing off a piece of the cinnamon roll and popping it into his mouth.
His chewing slowed. You caught the slightest flicker of something—not quite annoyance, not quite satisfaction—before he swallowed.
“Well?” You leaned forward, grinning.
Logan picked up his plate. “M’leavin’.”
You laughed. “That good, huh? You know, you could just say ‘thank you’ like a normal person.”
Logan scoffed, tearing off another piece of the cinnamon roll. “Ain’t my style.”
You smirked, resting your elbows on the counter. “Yeah, no kidding. You’re more of the grumble and disappear type.”
He didn’t argue, just kept eating like acknowledging you would give you more reason to gloat. The place wasn’t too busy, which meant you had all the time in the world to mess with him—not exactly the outcome he was hoping for when he walked in.
“So, what’s the verdict?” You tapped your fingers against the counter. “Cinnamon roll or apple pie?”
Logan chewed, swallowed, and exhaled through his nose. “Pie.”
You gasped dramatically. “Wow. Just like that? No hesitation?”
“Nope.” He took another bite.
You shook your head, grinning. “That’s crazy. ’Cause it sure looks like you’re enjoying that cinnamon roll.”
Logan grunted, not meeting your eyes. “S’fine.”
“You said that about the pie, and look where we are now.” You rested your chin in your hand, watching him. “Face it, Logan. You’ve got a sweet tooth.”
“Tch.” He picked up the plate and turned toward the door, clearly done with this conversation.
“Don’t be a stranger, sugar,” you called after him.
He didn’t look back, but you caught the way his shoulders tensed—like he was fighting the urge to respond. The bell chimed as he stepped outside.
You smirked, already looking forward to the next time he walked through that door.
---
Usually, you did just fine lugging the large bag of flour from the crate to the kitchen, but after spending all day on your feet testing new recipes you weren’t exactly at your best.
You faintly heard the bell ring above the front door, and you called out “we’re closed!” before tugging the bag of flour again.
“You’re closed, huh?” A familiar gruff voice cut through the quiet.
You groaned, still struggling with the damn bag of flour. “Yeah, that’s what I said.”
Heavy footsteps approached, and before you could protest, the bag was lifted right out of your grip. You turned to see Logan holding it effortlessly like it weighed nothing.
You huffed. “You know, some people ask before just stepping in and taking over.”
He raised an eyebrow. “You were losin’ that fight.”
“I had it handled.”
“Sure you did.” He carried the bag through the doorway leading to the kitchen.
You followed, arms crossed. “What are you even doing here? You already got your sugar fix for the week.”
Logan set the bag down near the counter and dusted his hands off. “Needed somethin’ to do.”
You blinked. “So, out of all the places, you came here?”
He grunted, looking vaguely annoyed with himself. “Yeah, guess I did.”
You smirked, leaning against the counter. “Startin’ to think you like it here.”
Logan exhaled sharply. “Don’t push it.”
You tapped the counter lightly, still amused. “Well, since you’re here, you want something? Or are you just here to rescue me from my tragic battle with flour?”
Logan glanced around like he was debating whether he’d regret staying longer. Then his eyes landed on a tray of freshly baked cookies on the cooling rack.
You caught his look. “Ah. Now, let me use my special talent here—” You tapped your chin in mock thought. “You seem like a peanut butter guy.”
Logan scoffed. “Now you’re just makin’ stuff up.”
“Oh, am I?” You picked up a peanut butter cookie and held it out. “Go on. Prove me wrong.”
He stared at you, then at the cookie, then back at you. “This a new thing? You testin’ psychic powers on baked goods?”
“Just take the damn cookie, Logan.”
He rolled his eyes but took it, biting off a piece. His chewing slowed just slightly, the way it always did when he didn’t want to admit something was good.
You grinned. “Called it.”
Logan muttered something under his breath but didn’t stop eating.
You leaned on the counter, watching him. “So, what’s the excuse gonna be next time?”
He raised an eyebrow. “Next time?”
“Mhm. You keep coming back, whether it’s for cake, pie, or playing the hero with fifty-pound bags of flour.”
Logan finished the cookie and dusted off his hands. “You assumin’ a lot.”
“Oh, I don’t assume.” You smirked. “I just have a talent for predicting things.”
He shook his head and turned toward the door. “Don’t wait up.”
You grinned. “Bye bye, sugar bear.”
---
The next time Logan showed up, he didn’t say anything at first. Just walked in, hands shoved in his jacket pockets, and stood at the counter like he was already regretting the decision.
You looked up from the register, eyebrows raising. “Back again already?”
“Don’t start.”
You smirked. “Didn’t say anything.”
Logan gave you a look that said he didn’t believe that for a second. His eyes flicked to the display case, scanning over the usual selection. You leaned on the counter, waiting.
“So, what’ll it be?” You tapped your fingers against the counter. “Pie? Cinnamon roll? Maybe a cookie? I know a guy who’s a big fan of peanut butter.”
Logan exhaled, shaking his head. “Just coffee.”
You blinked. “Coffee?”
“Yeah. You got a problem with that?”
You tilted your head slightly. “I just figured if you were gonna show up unprompted, you’d at least pretend you weren’t here just for the free samples.”
He gave you a flat look. “M’not here for free samples.”
“Uh-huh.” You turned, grabbing a mug. “Black?”
“Yeah.”
You poured the coffee and slid it across the counter. Logan took it without a word, lifting it to his lips.
You watched him take a sip, arms crossed. “So, what’s the excuse this time?”
He lowered the mug slightly. “What?”
“You always have an excuse for coming in. First it was Jean, then Scott, then some tragic flour-related emergency.” You smirked. “What is it today? Did someone put you on coffee duty?”
Logan didn’t answer right away, just took another sip. “No excuse.”
Your smirk faltered slightly. “Huh.”
“What?”
“Nothing.” You shrugged, resting your elbows on the counter. “Just didn’t take you for the type to stop by for no reason.”
He grunted. “Maybe I just wanted coffee.”
“Maybe.” You studied him for a moment. “Or maybe you just wanted to see me.”
Logan huffed. “You’re pushin’ it.”
You grinned. “That wasn’t a no.”
He shook his head, setting the coffee down. “This place always this damn chatty?”
“Only when you’re here.”
Logan exhaled through his nose, but he didn’t argue. You took that as a win.
“Oh, I know somethin’ you can do for me.” You quickly ran into the backroom and grabbed a cooling scone—raspberry lime.
Logan eyed it with mild suspicion as you set it down in front of him. “What’s this?”
“A scone.”
He gave you a flat look. “I can see that.”
You smirked. “Then why’d you ask?”
Logan exhaled sharply, picking it up like it might bite him. “And I’m supposed to do what, exactly?”
“You’re supposed to eat it,” you said, leaning on the counter. “It’s a new recipe. Gotta make sure it’s good before I start selling them.”
His eyes narrowed slightly. “And you don’t got anyone else to taste-test this?”
“Not anyone who’ll give me an honest answer.” You tapped the counter lightly. “Customers are too polite, and the old ladies who come in every Sunday think everything I make is ‘just delightful.’ I need actual feedback.”
Logan looked at the scone like it was some kind of trap. “…It got any weird crap in it?”
“Weird crap?” You blinked. “It’s raspberry and lime. How is that weird?”
He grunted, still skeptical, but took a bite. His chewing slowed slightly, which you’d come to recognize as the telltale sign that he actually liked something but wasn’t about to admit it outright.
You grinned. “Well?”
Logan swallowed, then shrugged. “It’s fine.”
“Wow. High praise.”
He took another bite, shaking his head. “You want feedback or not?”
“Go on, then. Let’s hear it.”
He chewed thoughtfully, eyes flicking toward the ceiling like he was actually considering his words. “Not too sweet. Tart enough to keep it from bein’ boring. Texture’s good.” He paused, taking another bite. “Could use a little more lime.”
You tilted your head. “More lime?”
“Yeah.” He gestured vaguely with the scone. “You got the raspberry down, but the lime’s kinda fightin’ to be noticed.”
You pursed your lips, considering it. “Huh. Okay, I can work with that.”
Logan took another bite, looking vaguely annoyed with himself. “Didn’t expect you to actually listen.”
“I asked for feedback. What kind of baker would I be if I ignored it?” You smirked. “Besides, I already knew it was good—I just wanted to see if you’d admit it.”
He scoffed, setting the half-eaten scone down. “You’re a pain in the ass.”
“And yet, here you are. Again.”
Logan grunted, picking up his coffee. “Don’t make a big deal outta it.”
You grinned, tapping the counter. “No promises, sugar.”
---
The bell above the bakery door chimed, and you barely glanced up from where you were wiping down the counter. “We’re closed,” you called automatically.
“You keep sayin’ that, and yet, here I am,” came a familiar gruff voice.
You looked up, smirking as Logan stood at the counter, hands shoved into his jacket pockets like he was already regretting coming in. “Back again already? Thought you were done giving me a hard time.”
He grunted, eyes flicking toward the display case. “Just get me a coffee.”
You arched an eyebrow but didn’t question it, grabbing a mug and pouring it fresh. As you slid it across the counter, you tapped your fingers against the wood. “You know, most people would just admit they like a place instead of making up excuses to show up.”
Logan wrapped his hands around the mug, not looking at you. “Ain’t an excuse. Just needed coffee.”
“Sure.” You leaned on the counter, watching him. “So, what was it this time? Jean send you? Scott? Or did another bag of flour need rescuing?”
He exhaled sharply through his nose. “No reason.”
That gave you pause. You tilted your head slightly. “Huh.”
Logan frowned. “What?”
“Nothing.” You smirked, clearly amused. “Just didn’t take you for the type to stop by for no reason.”
He gave you a flat look. “You got somethin’ against repeat customers?”
“Oh, no. I love my regulars.” You grinned. “Especially the grumpy ones.”
Logan shook his head, lifting the mug to his lips. He didn’t argue, which only made you more smug.
---
The next time Logan came in, it wasn’t for coffee.
The place was quiet—late enough in the evening that most customers were long gone. You were behind the counter, finishing up some inventory, when the bell chimed.
You looked up, brows lifting. “You know, I could just give you a key at this point.”
Logan ignored that, stepping up to the counter. “What’s good today?”
You gave him an exaggerated gasp. “You’re finally asking for a recommendation? I’m honored.”
He sighed. “Just tell me what’s good.”
You smirked, grabbing a plate and sliding a freshly baked hand pie onto it. “Figured I’d experiment today—blackberry and bourbon.”
Logan picked up the hand pie, giving it a brief once-over before taking a bite. He chewed, swallowed, then gave a short nod. “Not bad.”
You put a hand over your heart. “Wow. Practically a glowing review.”
Logan rolled his eyes, but something about the interaction had softened. He stayed leaning against the counter, glancing at the cooling trays behind you. “So, you always wanted to do this?”
You blinked, caught off guard. “Do what?”
“This.” He gestured vaguely. “The whole bakery thing.”
You shrugged. “Pretty much. Always liked baking, figured I might as well get paid for it.”
Logan hummed in acknowledgment, taking another bite. He didn’t say anything for a while, but he didn’t leave either.
After a few beats of silence, you decided to return the question. “What about you?”
He glanced up. “What about me?”
You leaned on the counter. “You always wanted to be a broody loner who shows up at small businesses unannounced?”
Logan exhaled sharply, shaking his head. “You’re a real pain in the ass, you know that?”
You grinned. “Yeah, but I grow on people.”
“We’ll see about that.”
But he didn’t leave.
---
You had a habit of observing people. It came with the job—regulars had patterns, little quirks that gave away more than they realized.
Logan was no different.
The third or fourth time he came in, you started noticing them. The way his eyes scanned the room the second he stepped inside, like he was cataloging everything. How he never sat with his back to the door. How his shoulders only slightly relaxed after a few minutes, like he was still debating if he should be here at all.
“You’re always on guard.”
Logan, who had just taken a sip of coffee, lowered the mug slightly. “What?”
“You’re always watching everything,” you said, casually wiping down the counter. “Like you’re waiting for something to go wrong.”
Logan’s expression flickered—just for a second. “Force of habit.”
You nodded. “Figured.”
That was it. No prodding, no pushing. Just an acknowledgment.
Logan’s fingers tapped against the side of his mug. “That a problem?”
“Nope.” You smirked. “Just an observation.”
Logan held your gaze for a second longer, then shook his head. “You notice too much.”
“Perks of the job.” You leaned forward slightly. “You know what else I noticed?”
He sighed. “What now?”
“You linger.”
Logan frowned. “The hell does that mean?”
“You stick around longer each time.” You grinned. “Almost like you enjoy being here.”
Logan grunted, grabbing his coffee. “You’re annoyin’.”
“And yet, here you are.”
He didn’t argue.
---
The bell above the bakery door chimed, right on schedule. You smirked to yourself as you wiped your hands on your apron. Logan had been showing up like clockwork now—never admitting it, of course, but his routine spoke for itself.
When you turned around, you were already holding out a plate.
Logan narrowed his eyes. “What’s this?”
You set it on the counter with a flourish. “Leftover peanut butter cookies. Tragic, really. If only someone around here liked them.”
Logan exhaled sharply, shaking his head. “You plannin’ on feedin’ me every time I come in?”
“Would you complain if I was?” You leaned on the counter, raising an eyebrow.
He grumbled something under his breath but grabbed a cookie anyway, biting into it like he was proving a point.
You smirked. “Thought so.”
Logan chewed, swallowed, then gestured toward the plate. “These actually extra?”
You tilted your head. “Does it matter?”
His jaw flexed slightly, like he didn’t know how to respond. Instead of answering, he just grabbed another cookie.
You grinned.
---
It had been a long day. A really long day.
One of the ovens had decided to throw a tantrum, a supplier had screwed up an order, and to top it off, you still had to prep for a catering job in the morning.
You didn’t even look up when the bell chimed. “We’re closed,” you called tiredly, shoving a crate of flour toward the back.
“Yeah, yeah.”
You blinked, glancing up to see Logan standing near the counter, arms crossed.
You huffed. “Starting to think you don’t understand what closed means.”
Logan ignored that, glancing around at the half-prepped trays, the mess of ingredients still covering the counter. “You runnin’ this place by yourself?”
“Yep.” You exhaled, pushing hair out of your face. “Well, mostly. Sometimes I hire help for big orders.”
Logan grunted, then—without a word—walked past the counter, grabbed the flour bag you had been struggling with, and lifted it like it weighed nothing.
You blinked. “Uh—what are you—”
“Where’s it goin’?”
You stared at him. “You do realize you don’t work here, right?”
Logan gave you a flat look. “You askin’ me to leave?”
You hesitated, then sighed. “Corner shelf, second row.”
He carried it over like it was nothing, then turned back expectantly.
You crossed your arms. “What, you lookin’ for a job now?”
Logan snorted. “You couldn’t afford me.”
“Oh, please.” You smirked. “I’d pay you in coffee and pie. You’d be set for life.”
He shook his head but didn’t argue. Instead, he glanced around the kitchen again. “What else?”
You narrowed your eyes. “Are you helping?”
“Tch.” He grabbed another crate before you could protest. “You’re losin’ this fight, just let it happen.”
You watched him work for a moment, a little stunned. You weren’t used to people sticking around just to help. It wasn’t a grand gesture, wasn’t something he was making a big deal out of—it was just Logan, stepping in like it was the most natural thing in the world.
You turned back to your work, shaking your head with a small smile.
“Fine,” you muttered. “But you’re not getting paid.”
Logan grunted. “Figures.”
---
It was late—too late. You should’ve locked up an hour ago, but you were dragging your feet, finishing up inventory while Logan sat at one of the tables with his usual coffee.
You glanced over at him. He had been coming around more, sticking around longer. He never said why, and you never asked. It was just… the way things had settled.
“You always this restless?” you asked, breaking the quiet.
Logan glanced up. “What?”
“You always show up late.” You leaned against the counter. “Ever sleep?”
He scoffed. “Not much.”
You tilted your head slightly. “Because you can’t, or because you don’t want to?”
Something flickered in his expression. He looked down at his coffee, fingers tapping against the side of the mug. “Both.”
You studied him for a moment. “Bad dreams?”
Logan didn’t answer right away. Then, quietly—so quiet you almost missed it—he muttered, “Somethin’ like that.”
You didn’t push. You could’ve asked more, pried for details, but that wasn’t how this worked. Instead, you just nodded.
“I get it,” you said simply.
Logan looked at you, something unreadable in his eyes. “Yeah?”
You shrugged. “Yeah.”
The silence stretched, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. Just… understanding.
Logan took another sip of his coffee, then exhaled. “You should lock up.”
You smirked. “You gonna tell me what to do now?”
He stood, grabbing his jacket. “Don’t need to. You’re already dead on your feet.”
You huffed. “You know, for a guy who claims he doesn’t care, you sure do act like you do.”
Logan pulled his jacket on, not looking at you. “Get some sleep, Y/N.”
You watched as he headed for the door, shaking your head with a small smile.
“Night, sugar bear,” you called after him.
He didn’t look back, but you saw the way his shoulders tensed—like he was fighting the urge to respond.
The bell chimed as the door swung shut.
---
By now, Logan had stopped making excuses for why he kept coming back. He still didn’t admit anything, but you noticed the pattern—how he always came in around closing time, how he lingered longer each visit.
Tonight was no different.
The bell chimed, and you barely looked up from wiping down the espresso machine. “Y’know, if you’re gonna keep doing this, I really should just give you a key.”
Logan grunted, stepping inside. “Don’t need one.”
You smirked. “Because you’d just break in?”
“Somethin’ like that.”
You rolled your eyes, finishing up before leaning on the counter. “So, what’ll it be? Coffee? Something sweet? Or are you just here to loiter?”
Logan didn’t answer right away. He walked over to his usual seat—the one near the window, back to the wall—and sat down with a sigh.
“No coffee,” he muttered.
That was new.
You eyed him. “Rough night?”
He exhaled sharply but didn’t answer. That was answer enough.
Without another word, you grabbed a mug, poured something fresh, and set it on the table in front of him.
“I thought I said no coffee.”
You sat across from him, propping your chin on your hand. “It’s tea.”
Logan frowned at it. “The hell do I look like, some kinda tea-drinkin’—”
“—Just drink it, Logan.”
He huffed but didn’t argue. Took a sip. Grunted.
You smirked. “Good, right?”
“...It’s fine.”
You leaned back, watching him. “You don’t have to talk, you know.”
Logan raised an eyebrow.
You shrugged. “Just saying. If you wanna sit here in broody silence for an hour, I won’t stop you.”
He stared at you for a long moment, something unreadable passing behind his expression. Then, slowly, he leaned back in his chair, sipping his tea.
Neither of you said anything else for a while.
But he stayed.
---
You had dealt with rude customers before. It came with the job—some people were just assholes. But most of the time, they were harmless.
Most of the time.
Tonight, some guy had been giving you a hard time—complaining about his order, getting a little too close, sneering in that way that immediately put you on edge.
“You got a problem with your ears, sweetheart? I said extra caramel—”
“I heard you,” you said, forcing yourself to stay calm. “But that’s not what you ordered.”
The guy scoffed, leaning over the counter. “So now you’re callin’ me a liar?”
Before you could answer, a familiar voice cut through the tension like a knife.
“She ain’t callin’ you anythin’.”
Logan was right there—sudden and solid, standing just slightly in front of you.
The guy turned, sizing Logan up. “And who the hell are you supposed to be?”
Logan didn’t answer. Just held his gaze, silent, still.
You had seen Logan fight before—you knew what he was capable of—but sometimes, it didn’t take claws or violence. Sometimes, it was just him, standing there, making someone realize they’d made a mistake.
The guy swallowed.
“Forget it,” he muttered, grabbing his coffee and leaving without another word.
The door shut behind him, and for a moment, the bakery was silent.
You exhaled. “Well. That was fun.”
Logan turned, looking you over like he was checking for something. “You alright?”
You smirked. “Aww, you care.”
Logan grunted. “Don’t start.”
You crossed your arms. “What, no dramatic one-liner? No ‘stay away from her’ speech?”
“Didn’t need one.”
You shook your head, still smirking. “You’re ridiculous.”
Logan didn’t answer. Just grumbled under his breath and went back to his seat, like nothing had happened.
But you noticed the way he didn’t touch his drink for a while—like he was still too on edge to relax.
---
“You’re actually serious about this.”
Logan stood at the entrance of the farmers’ market, arms crossed, looking very unamused by the whole thing.
You grinned. “Yep.”
“You dragged me here.”
“Oh, please. No one drags you anywhere. You came willingly.”
He grunted but didn’t argue.
You had invited him on a whim, half-expecting him to say no. But to your surprise, he had shown up—grumbling the whole way, sure, but still.
The market was lively—small tents, fresh produce, the smell of roasted coffee and warm pastries in the air. It was a nice change from the usual bakery setting.
Logan, however, looked wildly out of place.
“You look miserable,” you teased, nudging him.
“’Cause I am miserable.”
“You sure? ’Cause I saw you eyeing those smoked meats at the last booth.”
Logan huffed. “That don’t mean I wanna be here.”
You smirked. “Mhm. Keep telling yourself that.”
Still, he stuck close to you as you weaved through the booths. He didn’t complain when you stopped to look at pastries, didn’t roll his eyes too hard when you bought something ridiculous just because it “looked cute.”
At one point, you handed him a fresh apple cider donut.
Logan frowned. “What’s this for?”
“Because you look like you wanna kill someone, and I need you to chill.”
He gave you a look but took a bite anyway.
You grinned. “See? Was that so hard?”
Logan just grumbled around his donut.
You took that as a win.
---
Logan, for the first time in a while, came to your bakery for an order. It was for the Valentine’s Day party at the mansion and Jean and Ororo put him on pickup duty.
It was close to 3 pm when he arrived and the sign on the door was already turned to CLOSED.
He opened the door and walked in, the bell ringing above.
You were behind the counter, carefully arranging a tray of macarons into a pastry box. You glanced up at the sound, then smirked when you saw who it was.
“Ah, my favorite grump. Here for the party order?”
Logan grunted, stepping closer. “Jean and Ro made me do it.”
“Of course they did.” You shut the box and slid it across the counter. “Bunch of heart-shaped macarons, just as requested—raspberry, chocolate, vanilla bean, and peanut butter.”
Logan eyed the box, then flicked his gaze back to you. You looked… different. Dressed up. Not overly fancy, but enough to make him pause. His brows pulled together slightly.
“You got plans or somethin’?”
You tilted your head. “What?”
He gestured vaguely. “You’re dressed up.”
You raised an eyebrow, smirking. “Why, you jealous?”
Logan scoffed. “Ain’t jealous. Just askin’.”
You hummed, clearly entertained. “No date, if that’s what you’re getting at.”
Logan crossed his arms. “Didn’t say nothin’ about a date.”
You grinned. “Mhm. Well, in case you were wondering, Jean invited me to the party.”
His expression flickered—something unreadable for half a second—before he exhaled sharply. “That right?”
“Yep.” You grabbed another small box from behind the counter and handed it to him. “These are yours, by the way.”
Logan frowned slightly, opening the box. Inside were four macarons, but unlike the ones in the party order, these were regular round ones.
“Didn’t think you’d want heart-shaped ones,” you said, watching his reaction.
He stared at them for a moment. “These the same flavors?”
“Yep. One of each.” You leaned on the counter, smirking. “Figured you’d appreciate the peanut butter one the most.”
Logan huffed. “You really don’t let up, huh?”
“Nope.”
He shook his head but didn’t argue. Just shut the box and grabbed the party order. “C’mon. I’ll give you a ride.”
You blinked. “What?”
Logan gestured toward the door. “Party’s at the mansion, ain’t it? You’re goin’, I’m goin’. Might as well save you the trip.”
You smirked, grabbing your coat. “And how exactly are these macarons supposed to survive on a motorcycle?”
Logan gave you a flat look. “I got it handled.”
You chuckled, stepping around the counter. “Alright, sugar bear. Let’s see what you got.”
He grumbled something under his breath but held the door open for you anyway.
You stepped outside, pulling your coat tighter as the cool air hit. Logan followed, already heading toward his bike.
You stopped short, staring at it. “Okay, I gotta ask—where exactly are these macarons supposed to go? You got some hidden pastry compartment I don’t know about?”
Logan shot you a look. “I said I got it handled.”
You crossed your arms. “That’s not an answer.”
He exhaled sharply, then crouched slightly, reaching for the saddlebag attached to the side of his bike. With practiced ease, he unlatched it, revealing a snug, padded compartment inside.
You raised an eyebrow. “That’s… oddly convenient.”
Logan shrugged. “Picked it up a while back. Good for keepin’ shit from gettin’ smashed.”
You smirked. “So, what you’re saying is, this is a dessert-safe motorcycle?”
He grunted, carefully placing the boxes inside. “Sure.”
You shook your head, amused. “You are full of surprises, sugar bear.”
Logan ignored that, straightening up before turning to you. “You ever been on a bike before?”
You hesitated. “…Define ‘been on a bike.’”
His expression flattened. “That a no?”
“Not a no. More like a… not exactly.”
Logan exhaled through his nose. “Great.” He swung a leg over and sat, steadying the bike before nodding toward you. “C’mon.”
You gave him a look. “You’re just assuming I’m gonna get on?”
He raised an eyebrow. “You got another ride?”
You huffed, stepping forward. “Fine, but if we crash, I’m haunting you.”
Logan scoffed. “Yeah, yeah. Foot on the peg, swing your leg over, and don’t make a damn production out of it.”
You did as he said, slightly awkward but managing without embarrassing yourself. Once seated, you hesitated, hands hovering near his back.
“…Where am I supposed to hold?”
Logan didn’t answer right away. Then, without looking back, he reached for your wrists and pulled your arms around his waist. “Here.”
You blinked, caught off guard, but didn’t argue. His body was solid under your hands, radiating warmth even through his jacket.
“This gonna be a problem?” he asked, clearly amused.
You huffed. “Not unless you do something stupid.”
Logan smirked, kicking the bike to life. “Hang on, doll.”
You rolled your eyes but tightened your grip around his waist. The engine rumbled beneath you, the vibration humming through your chest as Logan eased the bike forward. The cool night air bit at your skin, but the warmth of him under your hands made up for it.
As he pulled onto the road, you couldn’t help but squeeze your arms a little tighter. Not out of fear—just instinct. Logan didn’t say anything about it, but you could feel the shift in his posture, the slightest adjustment like he was making sure you were steady.
The ride was smooth, surprisingly so. Logan handled the bike with an ease that made you wonder just how many times he’d done this before. The streets of Westchester blurred past, streetlights casting a golden glow over the pavement.
After a few minutes, you leaned forward slightly. “So, be honest. How often do you use the whole ‘wanna ride?’ line to impress women?”
Logan snorted. “You think I need a line?”
You scoffed. “Wow. That cocky, huh?”
He smirked, though you couldn’t see it. “Ain’t about bein’ cocky, darlin’. Just statin’ facts.”
You shook your head, amused. “Uh-huh. Well, just so you know, I’m only impressed if we get there in one piece.”
Logan huffed. “You doubtin’ my drivin’?”
“I mean, I don’t want to, but I’ve also seen how you drive a car, and—”
“That was one time,” he grumbled.
“And yet, Scott still won’t let you near the X-Jet.”
“One crash, and suddenly nobody trusts ya.”
You laughed, resting your chin lightly against his back. “You’re ridiculous.”
Logan didn’t respond, but you felt his chest rise and fall with a short, quiet chuckle.
The rest of the ride was mostly silent, save for the occasional gust of wind and the steady roar of the engine. It wasn’t bad, you realized. The night air, the open road, the way Logan rode like he belonged there—it was… nice.
After a while, the looming gates of the Xavier Institute came into view. Logan slowed the bike, coasting up the long driveway before finally coming to a stop near the entrance.
As the engine cut off, you let out a breath and loosened your grip. Logan tilted his head slightly. “Not bad for your first time?”
You huffed. “I mean, I survived, so I’d call it a win.”
He smirked. “Told ya I had it handled.”
You slid off the bike, stretching your legs. “Alright, sugar bear. Let’s get these macarons inside before Jean hunts us down.”
Logan grunted but grabbed the boxes from the saddlebag, handing you yours before leading the way inside. The moment you stepped through the doors, the distant sound of music and chatter spilled into the hallway.
You smirked. “Sounds like the party’s in full swing.”
Logan rolled his eyes. “Great.”
You nudged him playfully. “Oh, come on. It won’t kill you to be social for one night.”
He gave you a look. “Wanna bet?”
Before you could respond, a familiar voice cut in.
“There you guys are!”
Jean appeared from around the corner, arms crossed but a knowing smirk on her lips. “Was starting to think you got lost.”
Logan grunted, holding up the pastry box. “Got your damn macarons, didn’t we?”
Jean took them, amused. “And you made it in one piece. I’ll call that a success.” She glanced at you, smirk widening. “Enjoy the ride?”
You crossed your arms, smirking right back. “I mean, I was mildly impressed. Didn’t even have to cling to him for dear life.”
Logan exhaled sharply, shaking his head. “I hate both of ya.”
Jean just laughed. “Come on, you two. Let’s get to the party.”
You followed her down the hall, Logan trailing behind you like he was already regretting every life decision that led him to this moment. The music grew louder as you got closer, and when Jean pushed open the doors to the common room, the full chaos of the Valentine’s party hit you.
Streamers, heart-shaped balloons, and way too much red and pink covered every inch of the space. A long table near the wall was packed with snacks, desserts—including your macarons—and an absolutely massive punch bowl that looked suspiciously spiked.
“Oh, this is festive,” you mused, glancing around.
“Festive’s one word for it,” Logan muttered.
Jean handed off the box of macarons to Ororo, who grinned when she saw you. “Glad you made it!”
“Of course,” you said, smirking. “Wouldn’t miss an excuse to see Logan suffer through social interaction.”
Ororo chuckled. “Well, you’re in luck, because he can’t sneak out this time. Scott already said if he disappears before midnight, he’s getting put on dish duty for the next month.”
You turned to Logan. “I like this rule.”
Logan just grunted. “’S bullshit.”
Jean smirked. “Then you better stick around.”
Ororo pulled you away toward the dessert table before Logan could complain more. “Come on, you have to try some of the punch before Bobby finishes it off.”
I’m pretty sure that’s just straight-up vodka at this point,” you said, eyeing the bowl.
“Exactly.”
You laughed but let her pour you a cup. The party was already in full swing—students dancing, music blasting, people laughing over whatever nonsense was happening near the pool table. It was easy, fun, not a bad way to spend a night.
Logan, however, looked like he wanted to be anywhere else. He had posted up near the bar, arms crossed, sipping a beer while occasionally glaring at anyone who got too close.
You made your way over, drink in hand. “Having fun?”
He gave you a flat look.
You grinned. “That bad, huh?”
He sighed. “Too loud.”
“Aw, poor thing,” you teased, nudging him. “Bet you’d rather be back at the bakery eating peanut butter cookies in broody silence.”
Logan took a sip of his beer. “Damn right.”
You smirked, leaning against the bar. “Well, if you survive the night, maybe I’ll consider rewarding you with some.”
His eyes flicked toward you, something unreadable in his expression. “That so?”
“Maybe.” You took a sip of your drink. “Depends on how grumpy you get.”
Logan scoffed but didn’t argue. Instead, he watched you over the rim of his bottle, like he was figuring something out.
Before either of you could say anything else, Rogue appeared, grinning. “Oh, good, you’re both here.”
You raised an eyebrow. “That’s never a good sign.”
“I need you two for somethin’.”
Logan immediately shook his head. “No.”
Rogue rolled her eyes. “You don’t even know what it is.”
“Don’t need to.”
She ignored him and turned to you. “We’re playin’ Seven Minutes in Heaven.”
You nearly choked on your drink. “You’re what?”
Rogue smirked. “C’mon, it’s tradition. Just pick a name outta the hat.”
Logan was already turning to leave. “Hell no.”
You grabbed his arm before he could make an escape. “Oh, come on, sugar. Don’t be a coward.”
He shot you a look. “I ain’t playin’ some dumbass game.”
Rogue crossed her arms. “Then you gotta do dish duty for a month.”
Logan clenched his jaw.
You grinned. “I like this rule.”
Logan exhaled sharply, then snatched a name from the hat. He glanced at it, scowled, then crumpled the paper in his fist. “This is stupid.”
Rogue smirked, looking at you. “Your turn.”
You sighed, reaching into the hat. When you unfolded the paper, your eyes widened slightly.
Logan.
You looked up, meeting his gaze. His expression was unreadable, but you caught the slight twitch of his jaw.
Rogue clapped her hands together. “Welp, you know the rules. Closet’s that way.”
You turned to Logan, smirking. “Guess we’re doin’ this.”
He huffed. “Guess so.”
Rogue practically shoved you both toward the closet, grinning. “Have fun, lovebirds.”
The door shut behind you with a click.
You turned to Logan, arms crossed. “So. This is happening.”
He exhaled sharply. “Tch.”
The space wasn’t exactly roomy. You were standing close, close enough to catch the scent of cigar smoke and something warm, familiar.
You smirked. “You look like you’d rather fight Sabretooth again than be in here right now.”
Logan rolled his eyes. “Ain’t far off.”
You chuckled, then leaned back slightly. “Relax, sugar. It’s just a game.”
He studied you for a moment, then shook his head. “You really don’t let up, do ya?”
“Nope.”
Silence stretched between you. There was something… different about being this close, no bar or counter between you, nothing but the dim glow of light filtering under the door.
Your gaze flicked to his lips, just for a second, before you looked back up at his eyes. His expression was unreadable, but there was something else there—something you couldn’t quite place.
You raised an eyebrow. “What’re you thinking?”
Logan exhaled slowly, then smirked. “You really wanna know?”
You tilted your head. “Yeah.”
He leaned in slightly, just enough to make your breath catch.
“…Thinkin’ this is a real stupid game,” he muttered.
You huffed a laugh, shaking your head. “Terrible answer.”
Logan grunted, crossing his arms. “Yeah, well. Ain’t much of a game to begin with.”
You smirked, leaning back against the closet wall. “You know, for someone who acts like he doesn’t give a damn about party games, you sure are committed to standing here in silence.”
Logan shot you a look. “Ain’t like I got a choice.”
“You always got a choice, sugar,” you mused, tilting your head. “Could’ve taken dish duty.”
“Rather be in here than deal with Scott’s bitchin’.”
You chuckled. “That’s fair.”
Silence stretched between you again. The closet wasn’t big, barely enough space for both of you without standing close. Logan stayed where he was, arms crossed, shoulders tense.
You tapped your fingers against the wall, glancing at him. “You ever actually played this before?”
He exhaled sharply. “What, you think I spent my younger years crammed in closets with gigglin’ teenagers?”
You grinned. “I dunno, Logan. You’ve been around a while. Gotta imagine at least one girl managed to talk you into it.”
He huffed. “Ain’t my thing.”
“Yeah, I figured.” You shifted, crossing one leg over the other. “You don’t really seem like the party type. More of a ‘drink alone in a dive bar and pretend you don’t wanna talk to anyone’ kinda guy.”
Logan shot you a dry look. “You got me all figured out, huh?”
You tapped your temple. “I’m observant.”
He didn’t answer, but you caught the slight twitch of amusement at the corner of his mouth.
You let the silence linger for a beat before speaking again. “You know, seven minutes is a long time. You might as well entertain me.”
Logan raised an eyebrow. “Entertain you?”
“Yeah. Tell me something.”
He scoffed. “Ain’t got nothin’ to say.”
“Oh, I doubt that,” you mused. “You just don’t like talking.”
Logan rolled his eyes. “You do enough of that for both of us.”
You pressed a hand to your chest. “You wound me, sugar bear.”
He exhaled sharply. “Don’t call me that.”
“You never complain when I say it outside of a closet.”
“’Cause outside of a closet, I can walk away.”
You smirked. “You sure about that? ’Cause last time I checked, you keep coming back.”
Logan grunted, looking away. “This is the longest seven minutes of my goddamn life.”
“Oh, come on. You’re having fun.”
“The hell I am.”
You chuckled, shaking your head. “Alright, fine. If you’re not gonna talk, I’ll just have to fill the silence myself.”
Logan sighed. “Fantastic.”
You ignored his sarcasm and leaned your head back against the wall. “Alright, let’s see… Did I ever tell you about the time a guy tried to rob me with a butter knife?”
That actually got Logan’s attention. His brows pulled together slightly. “The hell?”
You grinned. “Yeah. Came in one night, all twitchy, pulls a damn butter knife from his sleeve like it was supposed to be intimidating. Told me to empty the register.”
Logan tilted his head. “What’d you do?”
You smirked. “Took the knife out of his hand and gave him a scone.”
Logan stared at you, then shook his head. “You’re ridiculous.”
“I prefer resourceful,” you said, grinning. “Besides, guy was clearly desperate. Didn’t have the heart to kick his ass.”
Logan grunted. “Lucky for him.”
“Lucky for me, too. He actually came back a week later with a real apology. Bought a dozen muffins.”
Logan huffed a quiet laugh, shaking his head. “Only you.”
You shrugged, clearly pleased with yourself. “Hey, you’re the one who said I talk too much. This is what you get. I could also talk about the time my cousin carpooled with—”
Logan cut you off mid-sentence. Not with a glare, not with a grumble—no, this time, he shut you up the only way that was guaranteed to work.
By kissing you.
It was sudden, barely enough time to react before he stepped forward, backing you up until your shoulders hit the wall. His hand came up, palm pressing flat beside your head, caging you in without a single word.
Your breath caught, brain short-circuiting for half a second before instinct kicked in. You kissed him back, fingers curling slightly at your sides like you were debating grabbing onto him.
Logan didn’t rush it—didn’t press too hard, didn’t let it turn into something it wasn’t meant to be. But it was firm, deliberate, enough to make your knees feel just a little weak.
And then, just as suddenly as it started, he pulled back.
The closet felt even smaller than before.
For a few long, charged moments, neither of you said anything. You were still pressed against the wall, Logan still close, his hand still braced by your head. His eyes flicked over your face, scanning for something, though you weren’t sure what.
Your heart was pounding, but you weren’t about to be the one to break first.
So, instead, you smirked, tilting your head slightly. “So… does this mean you’re my valentine now?”
Logan exhaled sharply, shaking his head. “You never let up, do ya?”
“Nope.” Your grin widened. “Not even after being dramatically kissed in a broom closet.”
Logan huffed, but he didn’t move away. He stayed right there, close enough that you could still feel his warmth, still smell the faint trace of whiskey and cigar smoke clinging to his jacket.
You tapped a finger against his chest. “I mean, you did just make a pretty big statement. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you actually like me.”
Logan grunted. “Don’t push it.”
You grinned. “That wasn’t a no.” You reached up, tapping his bottom lip with your finger, “c’mon sugar bear. Would I really be that bad of a valentine?”
Logan exhaled sharply through his nose, eyes flicking between yours. "You’re real pushy, you know that?"
You smirked. "And yet, here you are. In a closet. With me." Your finger was still resting against his lip, and you tapped it lightly, just to mess with him. "So, sugar bear, what’s the verdict?"
Logan caught your wrist before you could do it again, his grip firm but not rough. "That name’s gonna be the death of me."
"You’ll survive." You grinned. "So? Valentine or not?"
Logan didn’t answer right away. He still hadn’t let go of your wrist, his thumb brushing absently against your skin like he hadn’t noticed he was doing it. His gaze flickered down to your lips, then back up, his jaw tightening slightly like he was debating something.
Then, without a word, he let go, stepping back just enough to put space between you.
You arched an eyebrow. "That’s it?"
Logan crossed his arms. "What else you want, a damn serenade?"
"Well, now that you mention it—"
"Not happenin’."
You chuckled, tilting your head. "Alright, fine. No singing. But I’ll take that kiss as a yes."
Logan scoffed. "You assume too much."
"Mm. Do I?" You tapped your chin in mock thought. "You kissed me. Didn’t push me away. Didn’t tell me to shut up. And now you’re looking at me like you’re still considerin’ round two."
Logan’s jaw ticked. "You’re real smug."
"You like it," you shot back easily.
He didn’t confirm or deny it. Just exhaled sharply and ran a hand through his hair.
"Alright," you said, watching him. "Since you clearly can’t admit it, I’ll do it for you. Logan Howlett, the grumpiest man in Westchester, is officially my Valentine."
Logan rolled his eyes. "You’re impossible."
"And yet, here you are," you teased, throwing his own words back at him.
Logan shook his head, but the corner of his mouth twitched—just barely, but you caught it. "You done yet?"
"Not even close." You smirked, reaching for the doorknob. "But I’ll give you a break… for now."
Before you could turn it, Logan caught your wrist again, stopping you.
You raised an eyebrow. "Changed your mind?"
He didn’t answer right away. Just held your gaze for a second longer than necessary before he muttered, low and gruff, "you talk too much."
Then he kissed you again.
This time, there was no hesitation. No half-measures. Just Logan pressing you back against the closet wall, one hand curling around your waist, the other braced beside your head. The kiss was slower this time, deliberate, like he wanted to make sure you wouldn’t talk your way out of it.
Not that you were planning to.
You grinned against his lips, fisting the front of his jacket and pulling him closer. "See?" you murmured. "Told you you liked me."
Logan grunted but didn’t stop kissing you. Didn’t pull away.
Didn’t even argue.

Canon Abby! x reader; apocalypse au!
Synopsis: You and Abby used to be best friends back in the Fireflies, but after her trip to Jackson, she makes it clear she no longer wants to be friends. If anything, she doesn't seem to even like you anymore. However, her actions keep stating otherwise...
Warnings for; Smut, switch Abby! Follows timeline of TLOU2

✦ ───────────────────── ✦
You didn't know Abby Anderson.
At least, not anymore.
Now she was just Issac's top Scar killer, another soldier in the WLF, another person like any other.
You arrived at Soundview Stadium a few months ago with a few other WLF soldiers, your patrol unit finally moving in after guarding a post near the Seraphites Island.
You still remembered the day you first ran into Abby again, surprised to see her returning from the lodge up in Jackson.
You didn't know how high she had climbed in the ranks with Issac then, all you knew then was that your old best friend was standing in front of you, walking with Owen and Mel- and you nearly knocked her over when you ran to give her a hug, burying your face in the crook of her neck, never so glad to smell the familiar scent of pine and vanilla. Abby had been strangely stiff, patting you awkwardly on the back like you hadn't spent nearly two years with her in the Fireflies.
Seeing her gave you hope, hope that you two could talk and make up for lost time, finally have some companionship- but that hope was quickly dashed when Abby made it clear to you that she didn't want that at all.
She had said it later on when you two were alone, your things finally unpacked in the tiny room. You had tried to ask her how she was doing, how Jackson went, if she was alright, but it all fell on deaf ears.
"Listen y/n..."
Abby had said, pausing for a moment, rubbing the back of her neck. It was as if she knew this wasn't a good idea, that the next words were words she couldn't take back.
"I don't think we should be friends, I know we used to be but that was a long time ago- I'm just not the person you used to know."
You had been hurt then, hoping she'd give you more of a reason, but Abby was silent, her once bright blue eyes cold and dim.
If Abby Anderson no longer wanted to be friends, if she wanted to pass by you in the hall like you didn't once know every detail about each other - fine.
Fine by you.

"Y/n?"
You opened your eyes groggily and opened the door to see Nora standing in the threshold.
"Hey, Issac wants you to report to him- says he's got the details for your latest mission"
You smiled, rubbing the sleep out of your eyes.
"Thanks, Nora, I'll be there in a sec"
You threw on some clothes before heading out, making your way up to Issac's office.
"Hey-"
You pushed open the door and saw Abby, Manny, and Issac already waiting for you, and felt your heart drop into your stomach at the sight of her.
"Ahhh, y/n there you are, now we can get started. A rogue group of Seraphites attacked a patrol yesterday down by the Eastbrook area- I want you guys to go in and sweep to make sure they're all gone. Bring any supplies you find back." Issac pointed to the map on the table for emphasis.
"Y/n, I know you haven't been on a mission with these two before but trust me, they're good. I can get your old crew for a different mission another time"
"No problem Issac, I can work with anyone"
"Great," Issac said before continuing, "When you return, we'll start drafting our plans to invade the Seraphites' Island, we can take the boats and see if we can defeat them on home territory."
Your gaze immediately darted to Abby, wondering what she thought of the news, but she only stared stubbornly ahead.
"Grab something to eat and then head out, take the truck, Manny."
"Alright, let's go guys"
Manny left, and you watched Abby leave as well, trailing behind them, sighing inwardly at the day ahead of you. Today's mission was gonna be a long one.
-
"The Seraphites have been growing bold lately"
Manny broke the silence, seemingly oblivious to the tension that lay between you and Abby.
The back of the truck was snug, Manny and Abby on one side, you on the other. Abby was looking anywhere but your face it seemed, and you sat there quietly, pretending like you weren't sneaking glances whenever you got the chance. After all, this was the closest you had been to her in years.
To be fair, you both equally avoided each other at base- she didn't want anything to do with you, so why would you bother with her?
"Yeah well they broke the treaty, if any of them are at Eastbrook we wipe the site and leave"
The air is chilly when you step out, you adjust your jacket and flip the safety off your gun.
"School looks deserted, but best if we just do a patrol of the site just to be sure. Abby, go with her, patrol the inside, I'll do a grounds check first"
Manny walks off, gun in hand, already entering an old school bus parked in front of the school.
"Come on" Abby says, and you follow her as she prys open the front door.
The interior of the school is a mess, the wallpaper of the walls peeling, desks pushed half hazardly into the hall. Sad shreds of streamers hang from the ceiling, every window smashed, the shards glistening on the floor.
You enter a classroom, pushing the door open with your gun.
Your eyes light up at the greenery inside, the schooldesks covered in a bed of moss, ivy hanging from holes in the ceiling.
"It's beautiful-" You say to yourself, bending down to pick up the remainders of the kids' drawings on the ground. You examine one, it's a picture of a house with what looks to be a horse-
"Can you stay focused? We're supposed to be looking for supplies"
Abby's voice cuts sharply through the silence, the only sound the rifling she's causing by searching through the desks.
You sigh and help her, retrieving a roll of bandages and a few packs of old batteries before moving onto the next room.
Abby finds the cafeteria at the end of the hall, and the old shelves of the cafeteria pantry prove to be quite sparse, with nothing but some old bean cans that Abby takes anyway. She's still acting like you don't exist, so you've got a whole lot of time to examine your surroundings.
You hear a creak while searching through the cupboards and pause, listening for footsteps.
"Do you mind moving a little quicker? Maybe your old patrol did things slower, but I'd like to get back to base sometime soo-"
"Shut up!" You whisper harshly, cutting her off.
Abby looks offended, finally training her gaze on yours, but your eyes dart away to the doors of the cafeteria.
"What?"
Abby asks, watching you.
You hear it again, a second creak. You push Abby up against the wall by the lapels of her jacket, her blue eyes wide with surprise. Her gaze darts down to your lips for a second before her arms come up to pull yours off.
"Woah y/n- what are you-"
A loud bang interrupts Abby's next words, the double wooden doors of the cafeteria slamming open as five Seraphites rush in.
"Seraphites!" You yell, dragging Abby down with you to avoid the gunfire.
Abby breaks out of your hold, punching the nearest Seraphite in the face as you shoot the second. The third Seraphite comes running at you, tackling you to the ground, slamming your wrist against the concrete floor. A sharp pain runs through your arm, and you watch as he kicks your gun out of reach. You grapple on the floor together, kicking as he attempts to strangle you, worried about Abby- before a loud gunshot rings out and the Seraphite's body slumps over you.
Abby stands over you, one hand extended. You take it.
The other two Seraphites lay dead on the ground, bodies riddled with bullets. You brush yourself off, but the ache in your arm is making itself more evident.
"Thanks"
Abby hands you your gun but her brows furrow at the way you cradle your left arm gingerly.
"Are you okay?" She asks.
You feign nonchalance as best you can.
"Yeah.. but my arm might not be"
Abby hesitates for a moment, but reaches out and examines your arm. Her touch is soft, a strange contrast to the stoic way she's been acting this whole mission.
"I think medical should check you out" Abby says, clearing her throat. "Come on we should head back to the truck."
Abby steps back and pushes open the doors. You follow her out.
-
Medical let you go with a brace for the minor fraction on your left arm. You felt miserable, first mission back in the field and injured- you wouldn't be cleared to go on another for at least another few weeks.
You sat slumped against a bookshelf in the library, half hazardly reading "City of Thieves" by David Benioff, ignoring the dull ache in your arm. You'd been doing this for at least a week now, hiding out from prying eyes.
"Y/n?"
Your eyebrows raised at the sound of Abby's voice, and even further when she came over, standing awkwardly in front of you.
"How's your arm?"
Abby asked, shifting her weight from foot to foot.
"It's fine, I guess," You replied. "Just reading to pass the time. Medical ordered I "take it easy" for the next two weeks." You rolled your eyes at the last part. The corners of Abby's mouth twitched, as if she was holding back a smile, but you were sure it was a trick of the light.
"That sucks.. what are you reading?"
Much to your surprise, Abby sat down next to you, one muscular arm reaching over your lap to grab your book.
"Hey, City of the Thieves? I'm reading this one right now- no spoilers"
She held up a finger in warning, and you smiled at her attempt to joke.
"Yeah, yeah" You waved her away.
A beat of silence stretches between you, and you work up the courage to break it.
"So.. what did you come here for? We both know it wasn't just to talk about books"
"I.." Abby looked at the floor, picking at the fabric below. "I wanted to apologize for what I said a few months ago.. and how I've been treating you ever since. I'm sorry"
Abby stops to look up at you, and you take the opportunity to study her. Her cheekbones are a little sharper. There's a healing cut across her cheek that hadn't been there before. Her rosy cheeks, full lips, and clear blue eyes- they're the same.
She's still your Abby, somewhere.
But the hurt you felt then, the lack of company you've had, the loneliness you've felt? It's also there, somewhere.
"Why'd you do it then?"
You ask, and Abby's eyes drop back to the floor. She's silent for so long you're sure she's going to just leave, but she answers.
"I thought I'd feel better after I found the guy who killed my dad in Jackson... but, I don't."
You inhale at her admission, eyes searching for hers as she meets your gaze. The softness she finds in yours prompt her to press on,
"I feel like nothing makes me happy anymore, I still wake up every night from reoccuring nightmares about him- and I've pushed a lot of people away because of how angry I feel. Angry that he's left me, angry that killing the one guy I trained for 4 years to fight to avenge him didn't make me feel better, angry that I've fucked up in every relationship with anyone I care about because of it-"
Abby runs her hands through her hair, smoothing down the stray strands of hair in her braid.
"Y/n, I pushed you away because I care about you. I was being fucking stupid back then- and every time after. I wanted to be near you so much but I felt like I didn't deserve it. I'm not a good person. You deserve someone better than me"
Abby hung her head and stood up, ready to accept whatever you had to say.
"That's up to me to decide Abs."
You said softly, and Abby looked up in surprise. She felt both shock and happiness when you hugged her, and for a second she stood still. Was she allowed to have this? To have you, even for a moment?
Abby hesitated for a moment, before burying her face in your hair, pressing you closer to her.
She never wanted to lose you again.
-
The next few weeks passed by in a blur, your arm healing up just fine. You and Abby spent a lot of time together- eating together in mess hall, going for walks around the crop fields- she helped keep your mind off the itch you felt to get back out.
Lately though, Abby had been acting a little strange, spending more time in the gym, off walking Alice or talking to Manny more than she usually did. You assumed it was nothing though, after all, what else could it be?
"Did you hear? Issac's gonna do a large-scale attack on the Seraphites Island, Manny and Abby got instructed to lead the assault with their chosen squads."
You overhear Nora talking to Mel on your way to mess hall, and your eyebrows furrow. You remember Issac talking about invading the Seraphites back when, but Abby hasn't mentioned it to you at all. Before you have more time to think about it further, Abby arrives and hands you a still warm burrito.
"Hey y/n, brought you breakfast"
Abby smiles at you, and you smile back despite the worry at the back of your mind. She would tell you, wouldn't she?
"Wanna go for a walk?" Abby asks, but you shake your head. You're due for a visit to Medical- you hadn't been needing your arm brace and was sure that with a medical note Issac would dispatch you to assignments again.
The Medical Bay turned out to be quite empty, so you're out with the note clutched in your hand in no time.
You head up to Issac's, past the cells holding Seraphites, and knocked politely on the interrogation door. Issac emerged a dew seconds later.
"Y/n? Oh, a medical note"
While Issac read, you inquired about the rumor you'd heard at breakfast, trying your best to seem casual.
"Abby and Manny are leading the squads in the assault on Seraphites Island right? Would I be able to join them?"
Issac looked surprised,
"You'd have to ask them, they get first pick of who they'd like, then I'll form the rest of the squadrons. Why don't you talk to Abby? I'm surprised she didn't ask you already, I told her about it weeks ago."
Issac's words ring in your ears as you make your way down to Abby's room. You knock on her door for a second before you burst in.
Abby's shirt is off, her dark grey tank laid out on the bed. She's in the middle of drying her wet hair when she sees you come in. You can't help but stare- at her abs, at her white bra, at her unbuttoned dark green cargo pants- and ignore the flutter in your stomach.
You wrench your gaze away.
"Y/n?! What's wrong?"
Abby moves towards you, but you put a hand out. Her cheeks flush when she realizes what she's wearing, or the lack thereof, and bends down to grab her shirt.
"I got cleared from Medical! And uh.. Issac told me you and Manny are leading squads for the invasion against the Seraphites?"
You say, addressing the ceiling.
"Oh.." Abby says, trailing off. She slips on her tank top, stalling.
"I.. I only just found out," Abby lies, "I haven't decided who I want for the squadron yet-"
"You just found out?" You say, angry at her blatant lie. "Don't lie, I know Issac asked you weeks ago"
Abby's tone is defensive,
"Did you ask him behind my back?"
"When were you planning to tell me?" You shoot back, "Were you planning to tell me?"
Abby backtracks at your words, rambling. Her hands raise, like she's guilty of a crime.
"I was- I swear I was, I would have asked you to be on the squadron but your arm was still healing and-"
"Why didn't you just tell me? Forget picking me to be on your squadron, I don't care about that- were you just gonna leave and not tell me? Let me wonder if you fucking died or not?"
Abby's eyebrows raise in alarm, realizing her misstep at identifying what was making you so upset. She sits down, wiping her sweaty hands on her cargos.
"No- y/n, I promise I would have told you, I just didn't want to ruin the peace we were building- and honestly I'm sure I'll be fine, I've done tons of patrols-"
You shake your head-
"Be honest. This is just another way of pushing me away, isn't it? Have you been having nightmares again? Why can't you just be honest with me, what's going on?"
Abby's face breaks, the flicker of conflicting emotions clear to you for a moment. She warrs against touching you, but loses the internal battle. She pulls you closer to her position sitting on the edge of the bed, hands caressing the back of your thighs, unsure of if it's reassuring you or her.
"The nightmares... they never stopped." Abby takes a breath before continuing, "And.. Owen's missing, his patrol partner Danny was found dead," Abby explains, "I keep pushing you away because it hurts that I might lose you. What if Owen's dead? What if that was you next? I don't want to lose you."
Your eyes soften at her words,
"Abs, I'm sure Issac's got people out looking for Owen... and you won't lose me. I may not be as seasoned as you are, but I held my own just fine at the Seraphite outpost for months. Besides, if I go with you, you'll be there to watch my back."
You reach out and cradle her face, stepping a little closer, now stood directly between her legs.
Abby hugged you around the waist, hiding her face in your sweater, voice a little muffled.
"Issac said Owen is a traitor- that he killed Danny to protect.. a Seraphite. I told him it wasn't true, that there was no way he'd do that, that if I could just look for him I'd bring him back- but Issac refused. He wouldn't let me look for him."
Abby looks up at you, a mixture of grief and worry plain on her face. A stray tear rolls down her cheek and you brush it away.
"You're all I have left y/n." Abby whispers.
You crumble like putty in her hands, biting your plush lip as you look at her. Abby felt like she was going to explode.
This whole time, Abby's thought the way she felt about you was one-sided. Even when she was busy pretending to no longer care about you, even when she was staring straight head walking past you in the halls, even that damn school during your first mission together- a bit of her always longed for you.
She had tried to chalk it up to the fact she missed her best friend over the years, that she had a stupid girl crush in her teens, but these past few weeks only served to prove her wrong.
So, when you lean into her, Abby can't resist. She feels like she's lost everything- her dad, Owen- and you're all she has left. Can anyone blame her for acting on what she wants, just once?
Abby pulls you into her lap just as your lips crash into hers, both of you reaching for the other.
Butterflies flutter in your stomach as you kiss Abby, her large hands gently pressing you closer at the small of your back, and your hands tangle in her hair.
You can't get enough of her, hands pulling up her shirt, running your fingertips over her midriff as she shivers at your touch.
"Y/n? We don't have to do anything if you don't want to-"
You cut Abby off with a firm kiss as you push her over.
"Abs, I want to. I want you"
Abby grins at your words, and pulls you down into her for another kiss. Her hands guide your hips as you grind down on her, moaning into her mouth.
Abby thinks this is the closest she'll get to heaven, and flips you both over, her body pressed up against yours.
"I'm glad- I've wanted you for so long" Abby says, kissing down your neck, moving your shirt aside for easier access. You moan as she leaves hickies on your chest, her hands already undoing your pants, fingers dipping down into you.
"Oh baby, you're so wet for me"
Abby's voice is huskier than you've ever heard it, and you feel yourself get even wetter at her words. She rubs your clit with her thumb as she slips two fingers in, fucking you at a quick pace.
"Abs-" You choke out, hands reaching for her.
Abby smiles, love clear on her face.
"You sound so pretty y/n"
You pull at Abby's hair and she sucks at your nipples as she fucks you. You're sure there will be hickies all your neck come tomorrow.
"Fuck, Abs I'm gonna-"
"Come for me"
You come, shaking in her arms. Abby sucks her fingers clean, grinning at the brilliant shade of red you turn in response. You pull her in for another kiss before murmuring,
"Your turn"
Abby sheds her cargos, climbing back onto the bed. You slide your fingers through her wet folds, eliciting a sigh from her as you sink two fingers in, curling them to hit her gspot. You're maintaining a regular pace when Abby speaks up,
"That feels so good- but can you add another?"
You blink, but smirk as you obey her request. You speed up your pace, three fingers disappearing in her dripping cunt quickly, Abby's whimpers growing louder with every thrust.
"Fuck- y/n, I'm gonna come-"
Abby whimpers as she comes, growing tight around your fingers as she grips the headboard above your head.
You smile at her, sucking your fingers as payback for her earlier stunt, and she just laughs, rich and warm.
"I'm glad we both feel the same way about each other" Abby says, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.
"I think we always have" You admit, hands cradling her face before drawing her in for another kiss. Abby's eyes are relaxed, her grin wide. You continue, smiling softly-
"You won't lose me, Abs. You never have, and you never will."

She was pacing the living room, phone pressed to her ear as she chatted with her best friend. The conversation had taken its usual turn into juicy gossip, her friend recounting the latest drama with one of her coworkers.
“So, he goes on three dates with her, right? Three! And then just ghosts her. Like, how do men even function like this?” her friend said, exasperated.
She hummed in agreement, rolling her eyes even though she couldn’t see her. “Yeah, men are just... ugh, they’re all the same sometimes.”
“Sometimes?” her friend shot back. “Girl, always. Every single time.”
That made her laugh. “Okay, fine. Men are always like this, gosh.” she paused for a beat, then added with a mischievous chuckle, “Not all men. Nah, who am I kidding? All men.”
Her friend cracked up on the other end of the line, and she joined her, the two of them feeding off each other’s energy. “God, you’re so right,” her friend said. “Anyway, I’ll catch up with you later. Thanks for the laugh.”
“Anytime,” she said, smiling as she hung up and slipped her phone into her pocket.
The room was quiet now, except for the soft rustle of pages turning. She glanced up, seeing Seb on the couch, book in hand, but the amused grin on his face told her he’d heard every word.
“So,” he said, setting his book down and folding his arms. “All men, huh?”
“Wait, you were listening?” she chuckled, “to my very private top secret conversation?” she joked.
He grinned wider, his blue eyes sparkling with mirth as he teased back, “Well, I must say, I learned some rather…pertinent information about the male species today. Seems we're all just a bunch of clueless, womanizing ghosts.” He chuckled softly, standing up from the couch.
“I stand corrected,” she started, her grin wedding with the banter, “queer men are usually not like that.”
Seb laughed and walked over to her, slipping an arm around her waist. “Queer men, huh? Well, I guess that means I'm still in the doghouse then,” he joked, giving her a playful squeeze.
Seb grinned mischievously as he pulled her closer. “But hey, if all men are really that bad, why do you keep hanging around this one?” he teased, his blue eyes twinkling with playful accusation. “Maybe you secretly enjoy the thrill of being surrounded by such a charming rogue.”
“Okay, okay, maybe not all men,” she finally conceded, “but always a man.”
Seb chuckled and shook his head. “Well, I suppose that's fair. I mean, let's not forget who was chasing after who in the beginning,” he said with a playful smirk. “I seem to recall a certain someone keeping things casual, while I was the eager one wanting to make things serious. Sounds like you were the real rogue there, love.”
She chuckled slightly, as there was true in his words. “Okay, maybe you're like the exception,” she admitted, smiling.
Seb grinned triumphantly and pulled her in for a quick, playful spin. “Now you're talking! I guess even the most die-hard cynic can find a decent bloke now and then,” he teased, giving her waist a gentle squeeze before releasing her.
“Die-hard cynic? Me?” she said, her faux offense evident in her tone.
Seb winked playfully as he took a step back. “Well, you know what they say —the more cynical they are, the more they need a good man to prove them wrong,” he quipped with a cheeky grin. “And lucky for me, I seem to have succeeded in my noble quest.” Seb's grin softened into a more tender smile as he reached out to gently tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear, his fingertips lightly brushing her cheek. “But in all seriousness, you know I'm just happy to be the exception to your rule.”

Hello! I have an ask for your family dissonance au. It’s a scenario I’m curious about that you mentioned in one of your writings. What would happen if reader needed up in an alternate au that doesn’t have her in it dressed as Robin because she was filling in? (In like a Yandere way btw). Would she be able to hide, would she reveal herself? What would the Batfam she was originally with do when they notice she is gone??? And for drama sake what if Tim in the other au she falls into was in the time period he was banned from being Robin for his safety due to Redhood just appearing? What would Redhood do about another Robin?
I hope you have a wonderful day!

---
When you aren't acting as Robin, everything is fair game.
If you don't land near a bat, you're not likely to reveal yourself or go to the manor until you do some information gathering. You play it careful, avoid getting caught on any cameras and head to a safe house. Disabling all the hidden mics and trackers is child's play and the safe house is stocked enough for you to get your bearings.
First things first, the internet. Doing a quick search reveals the current state of Gotham, its vigilantes and rogues. Pretty standard stuff. Your plan is mainly to just bunker down until you're found. There's nothing stopping you from doing so and sooner or later, your family will find you.
Those plans are ruined deep into the night by someone else breaking into the safe house.
Red Hood stumbles in, trailing blood all over the place. You're already categorizing his injuries by the time he drags himself over to the couch. Several bullets. Dislocated shoulder. Some kind of fear toxin. All things you can fix if you choose to get involved.
You might as well. Jason will live whether you do or don't but you would feel bad about leaving him. He's not all that there while you're treating him but he's definitely more lucid after getting the antidote.
"So," you hum as you dig bullets out of his flesh, "do you specifically want Batman to kill the Joker or do you want to kill him yourself or are you okay if anyone kills him."
He mutters something you can't hear. The blood loss is probably getting to him. By the time you're finished wrapping him up, his breathing has slowed and become steady. You pat his smooth helmet. Even if it's part of his brand, it kinda makes him look bald.
"Sleep tight, Hood."
By the time he wakes, you are gone and the Joker is dead.
I'm not really sure how to spin the rest of it in a yandere type of way since you don't stay long enough in the universe to really trigger anything.
Jason's helmet probably has some kind of recording thing though so there's evidence of you in the universe before you disappear. Plus in your quest to commit murder, you run into a couple other bats too. The bats in that universe might end up spiralling trying to find you though since a. you killed the Joker, b. you patched Jason up, c. you look like Tim, and d. you broke into a safe house too easily.
Maybe they'll find where you came from, maybe they won't, but regardless, they're sure to have questions.
---
On the other side of the coin, what is going on with your batfam?
They notice within probably 10 ish minutes or less that your trackers are down. In less than half an hour, their facts are confirmed. You’ve gone missing. Like any good detectives, information gathering comes first and conclusions drawn from evidence last. Despite that, they’re actually pretty frantic in their search for you.
Most resources are diverted solely to finding you, everything else is dealt with quickly and efficiently so they aren’t wasting time. Once they narrow things down to magic, fixing everything is actually quite easy. Thank goodness you’re not difficult to find. If it took any longer, you probably wouldn’t want to know the lengths they’d go to for you to be back home and safe.
There are three Robins in Titan’s Tower. One current Robin, one former Robin and one not-Robin. It is, in summary, a Spider-Man pointing meme situation.
There’s a lot of yelling and fighting and “you’re ruining my plan” and “well I wasn’t trying to” but it doesn’t end with any major injuries.
Tim and Jason definitely think it’s a time travel thing where future Tim came back to the past to fix something. You don’t have enough energy to correct them. Either way, you stall long enough for the big Bat and Nightwing to come crashing into Titan’s Tower for an early reveal.
You’re gone by the time they get back to the topic of your presence. Hidden away, waiting to return home.

Okay so this is almost a direct copy-paste of my earlier reblog but only the Xin Yuan parts, because its long enough to be its own post and i want to share it! It deserves it's own post <3 typical starry stuff to write a 2k word long reblog, unfortunately.
I say almost because I went through to proof read and ended up adding more stuff.
I've been cooking on this idea for the last two days since I saw the Xin Mo!Shen Yuan post but??? I can't find anything on Xin Mo's backstory or how it came to be -- which means that's free fucking plot right there baby. That's a sandbox and im making LIFE SIZED CASTLES. I'm so excited.
The idea of Shen Yuan transmigrating centuries before the events of PIDW as Xin Mo -- but when he wakes up, he's not the sword. He wakes up in the body of a young boy named Xin Yuan. Now it makes sense for this boy to be a demon, but the drama, the intrigue, the spice of Xin Yuan being a human child.
SY wakes up as a boy below the age of ten, and the System tells him where he is, and SY is excited to meet his favorite protagonist -- only to gradually realize that he's like, a thousand years or so before the events of the novel. The rant he gives the system is legendary.
Bc what's the point of getting dropped into PIDW if he's never going to meet his favorite character??? This is a scam! BUT he settles into his new life, he's like, some orphan street rat or some other tragic airplane-esq backstory.
The system gives Shen Yuan his first mandatory quest: become a righteous cultivator. Which was like, kinda his plan/hopes anyways, except! There's like?? No official cultivator sects anywhere? The Cang Qiong Mountain Sect hasn't even been established yet, and there are pockets of cultivators running around, maybe some groups or schools popping up and then sinking back down, but nothing's really taken root!
If he asks someone how to become a cultivator, there's no straight answer. No "oh you can go to X to do that". He's pissed! How can he become a cultivator if there aren't any schools around to teach him? Deus ex machina, that's how.
Out of sheer luck, SY manages to help save a rogue cultivator, and promptly gets adopted by said rogue cultivator, who gives SY the name 'Xin Yuan'. He is ecstatic. And you know what? It's actually pretty fun!
He's getting to travel the world of PIDW in its early stages, and gets to see the building blocks for the eventual main story. He's discovering all this local flora and fauna that are foreign to his old world and unmentioned in the book, and he's learning cultivation! Granted, its unsafe, newly(ish) discovered cultivation, but it counts!
Wistfully, he thinks about perhaps he'll do something grand and get his name carved into legend. Something that would eventually help the protagonist later down the line in his quest for revenge.
The system remains silent to his thoughts.
But Xin Yuan doesn't take much stock in that daydream anyways. It's nothing more than fantasy to him; wish-fulfillment. He does discover however, that he is positively brimming with spiritual energy. Overwhelmingly so.
It's both a blessing and a curse, as it puts a strain on his meridians if he's not careful, and leaves him prone to qi deviations for the exact same reasons. He already has a heart demon or two from a few traumatic experiences in the past.
(bc hey! angst a day keeps the writer sadism at bay, and all that)
I'll say he's about... eight when he gets picked up by the rogue cultivator, who I'm calling Lin Kai bc he deserves a name. They travel around PIDW up until Xin Yuan is twelve, where he goes through a traumatic experience that results in a heart demon.
It's after that that Lin Kai decides to put a stop to his wandering, and find a place to settle down to raise Xin Yuan in. Coincidentally! They settle down in a nice mountain region that's thriving with spiritual energy. The mountains at the time were called something different, but they will be eventually known as the Cang Qiong Mountain Sect
Coincidentally, the mountain Lin Kai and Xin Yuan end up on is Qing Jing Peak. XY does not realize that the mountain he's on is Qing Jing. The System does not tell him. But he likes it there, more than he was expecting. And as much as he's traveled around, he really does enjoy being in one place.
He has a tendency to go down the mountain and help the village setting up down there, and when he's a teenager he starts venturing out more and more.
Xin Yuan forgets sometimes that he's in a novel, especially after settling down on Qing Jing peak. The system becomes remarkably quiet since there's no quests for him to do and not a ton of opportunities to get B-Points. He cultivates with Lin Kai, helps tend to the garden they're growing, goes down to the village to play with the other kids.
There's one boy he's best friends with, a boy whose not all that good with words, named Liu Zhihao. He's got potential for cultivation though, so Xin Yuan drags him up the mountain when he can so that Liu Zhihao can sit in on lessons with Lin Kai. He drags him all over the forest at the foot of the mountain to go look at bugs and animals.
(One time, when they're fourteen and Liu Zhihao has been learning cultivation for a few years now, Xin Yuan drags him out of bed late one night to go look at the stars. Xin Yuan tells Liu Zhihao about ascension -- something that still feels like a far off dream to many in this time -- that night, while they're sitting on the wet grass.)
("We should ascend together." Xin Yuan tells Liu Zhihao, jade eyes gleaming. Never let it be said that Xin Yuan doesn't love deeply, no matter what kind of love it is. He was always so lonely as Shen Yuan, Liu Zhihao is his best friend. "We'll become immortals, and then we won't ascend until the other is able to.")
(Liu Zhihao stares at him silently, his face unreadable. Then, quietly, he asks; "Promise?")
("Promise.")
When he starts adventuring outwards, further away from the mountain and the village, Liu Zhihao sticks to him like rice. Not that Xin Yuan's complaining, that's his best friend after all, and Liu Zhihao has become a formidable cultivator. He deserves to show off his skills.
He starts making something of a name for himself by the time he's, like, 18 -- although that name is in its baby steps, along with Liu Zhihao. They're slowly growing renown.
Perhaps XY uses his knowledge of PIDW and cultivation in general to help make advancements in the cultivation field. Although the system prevents him from sharing too much, it doesn't mean he can't practice it himself. Perhaps he's one of the first cultivators to develop a golden core. One of the first known immortal cultivators. One of the first to have a spirit sword.
(Although I don't know the logistics of any of this since my knowledge on xanxia/cultivation stuff in general is all still pretty new and google wasn't all that helpful lol.)
Either way, its my excuse to eventually make Xin Yuan come across as ethereal to other people. Peerless beauty SY for the win. Hs wifebeam is too strong, Xin Yuan has a line of suitors following after him and he's completely unaware of it. The rest of history is not.
Demon realm stuff has been stirring up since Xin Yuan was a kid, but at the time it was rare and in the beginning stages. Its been steadily ramping up and the system is sending him on more and more treacherous quests -- some of them mandatory, some optional. SY doesn't often take the optional ones unless it comes with a sufficient B-point reward.
for all intents and purposes though, he's a wandering rogue cultivator with Liu Zhihao, going from place to place to either help a town or village, or to discover more creatures or artifacts (although there aren't that many). Just all around living his life. He participates in a few major quest lines that are sure to get him mentioned in legend, even if it's a background character way.
(Unbeknownst to him, rather than being a side character in these legends, he's named directly. You can't become one of the first immortal cultivators and NOT get name dropped for clout.)
He has a spirit sword named Shā Mó, (杀 shā - to kill/weaken/counteract/reduce) (魔 mó - evil spirit, demon, possession). He routinely goes back to QJP to see Lin Kai, or to rest when traveling has worn down on him and he wants nothing more than to sleep somewhere he knows he'll be safe in. It becomes more frequent as Xin Yuan becomes more famous. Liu Zhihao often comes with him.
it all comes to a head though when the rifts between the demonic realm and the human realm become too great, and the balance between both realms becomes unstable. A demonic emperor's influence, wanting to merge the two realms so he could conquer both to satiate his own greed.
Typical evil king stuff. This comes to a climatic head in a great battle between every cultivator available and the demon emperor's army. Xin Yuan was one of the many who helped lead the charge.
In the end, it was Xin Yuan who ends up defeating the demonic emperor, but the rift that the emperor used to cross between worlds is destabilizing as well. Except instead of trying to close, it's getting bigger and bigger, threatening to swallow the heavens and earth and demonic realm whole.
You know how Yue Qingyuan's soul is bonded to his sword due to a qi deviation? Let's take it a step further >:)
Xin Yuan uses himself and Shā Mó to close the rift. However, it takes all of his spiritual energy to do so, as well as him filtering the demonic qi into his body to redirect it back to the demon realm.
In the end, Xin Yuan and his beloved sword Shā Mó fuse. Xin Yuan's soul becomes trapped in the sword. His physical body is unable to handle the immense amount of power it takes to close the rift, and is destroyed. He is immortalized in legend by his grieving cultivators.
(Liu Zhihao ends up ascending alone. He ascends with the hope that one day he'll see Xin Yuan again, even if it's in the face of someone else. Lin Kai does not ascend, too weighed down by the grief of losing his son.)
Xin Yuan, now Xin Mo, falls into a stasis. He's very confused and disorientated when he regains 'consciousness'. The system has been silent for most of his life, only popping up to give him mandatory quests, hints, points, or to answer any questions.
But once he wakes up, it cheerfully pops up again, congratulating him on completing the origin story of Xin Mo. SY freaks the fuck out. he'd shake the system screen if he could, but he doesn't have arms. or legs. or eyes for that matter.
He can sense his surroundings, but its all like imprints to him. He can sense the energies, but he can't see anything. It's all very disorientating and horrifying after years of being human. Like a sensory deprivation chamber.
The closing of the rift and the cycling demonic qi tainted both Sha Mo and Xin Yuan irreparably, and it did some kind of damage that resulted in SY needing to feed in order to use the spiritual powers. Kinda like how Xuan Su uses YQY's life force for it's spiritual energy, but instead of feeding on his own lifeforce, Xin Mo feeds on others.
The rest is history. Xin Mo is originally tied to the story of Xin Yuan -- believed to be all that remained of the man after he sacrificed himself to keep the realms separate. It's believed that the force of the realms closing permanently infused Sha Mo with demonic energy, turning it into Xin Mo.
But, like many stories do when faced against the tide of time, things get lost; chipped off; changed. Xin Mo is steadily separated from Xin Yuan, especially once it becomes clear how parasitic the sword really is, until they are all but separate entities themselves and the origin of Xin Mo's creation all but forgotten.
The years blur together when Xin Mo is not being wielded, and at first Xin Yuan was agonized by the fact that he stole the lives of all his wielders. He knows it's only a novel, but his decades spent in this life have softened him, and he's grown attached to the world around him.
But time erodes the mind like water erodes stone, and he becomes numb to it, then eventually anticipating of it. He forces himself to remember what he knows of PIDW's plot, and kinda fixates back on his old obsession on Luo Binghe. But while PIDW stays in his mind, his memories as Xin Yuan fall to the wayside.
Not forgotten, per se, but... tucked away. The system prevents him from forgetting fully.
Xin Mo isn't fully a demonic sword either i think, but instead harbors an ugly cocktail of both spiritual and demonic qi. Special circumstances and all that. Everyone just assumes he's a fully demonic sword because that's usually at the forefront, his spiritual qi weakened from the initial fusion and from years of not being fed spiritual qi. It's part of the reason his wielders always end up destroyed by him, other than the whole, yk, 'overwhelming qi' thing.
Nobody would recognize Xin Mo's human form as Xin Yuan other than some truly ancient demons. Of which Meng Mo might. But even that's iffy because there's a lack of surviving paintings of Xin Yuan, but also because of XM's demonic appearance and supposed lack of connection to XY.
Xin Mo has never spoken to his wielders before, not in the same way he does Luo Binghe. He tells Luo Binghe this, and he also tells Luo Binghe down the line that he is both spiritual and demonic -- something he also never told his wielders because there was no point to it.
okay okay i've got to end it here because its already gotten ridiculously long -- of which im both apologetic and unapologetic for -- but i DO think the Shang Qinghua and Shen Yuan meeting (and reveal) would be fucking hilarious. Especially if SY has learned how to pop between sword form and human form by then -- although i guess it doesnt matter either way because SQH's reaction is still the same.
And that reaction is internally screaming and going "hey what the FUCK?? WHY DOES XIN MO HAVE A HUMAN FORM??? WHAT IS THIS??? SYSTEM??? EXPLAIN???"
meanwhile from his place on the sword hilt xin mo is squinting at Shang Qinghua in bewilderment and going "aren't you supposed to be dead" but doesn't pay too much mind to it because its not like its going to change anything.
...up until he catches shang qinghua going "WTF" silently from his little corner while all eyes are off him. One moment SQH is standing beside his king, and the next he's been tackled to the ground by one wild-eyed, human-shaped Xin Mo.
everyone, including SQH, thinks Xin Mo is going to kill him. It is a surprise to everyone when he does not, and instead dissolves into deranged, uncontrollable laughter after spitting out some phrase in some ancient tongue and watching SQH's eyes grow wide in recognition.

MASTERLIST & REQUESTS: Before you go, have a glass of wine or better yet, recommend a good bottle. any kind of message is always a delight.
-----
EDWARD CULLEN aka THE MIND READER
Tumblr media
He's a mind reader. That is the only thing you need to know about him to know that it's useless to even try to escape because Edward is already reading your mind to see the potential plans of your escape. He'll do everything to ensure you won't escape and if you managed to find a single hint that could bring your hopes up to do so, he'll immediately eliminate it by fixing the problem. If you had somehow— no one knows precisely how —managed to find an escape, then just know that he'll find you soon enough. Not even just because of his abilities as a vampire since he can easily track down your scent with them, but also because well— he can read your mind. Edward will know where you desperately want to go to and he'll know about the decisions that you'll make as you try to escape. So, good luck but it's practically impossible, unless you managed to outsmart him by thinking of some sort of distraction. But yeah, it's almost impossible because he's constantly reading your mind! Very nosy indeed for a vampire but even worse as a yandere vampire.
CARLISLE CULLEN aka THE DOCTOR
Tumblr media
He would be disappointed. Carlisle isn't the type to get angry at people, but he would get disappointed in you when you try to run away because he thought you knew better than to do that. Honestly, out of everyone in the family, Carlisle is the yandere who gives the most freedom to his darling partner. Carlisle gives a lot of trust to you but after your attempt escape, which was most likely ruined because of another family member, he will definitely be keeping a closer eye on you. Carlisle will either give you a scolding after your escape or he will be quite silent while checking if you got any injuries while being outside. The latter is actually scarier than the first because it's unusual for Carlisle to be giving you the silent treatment and it would mean that he would be more cautious and give you less freedom from then on. However, instead of immediately locking you up in the house after your attempt escape, Carlisle will show you all the reasons to keep you in the house. It could be by showing you the wounds and deaths caused by a rogue vampire or even just by bringing you to the hospital to show you the potential wounds you could get by being outside.
ALICE CULLEN aka THE PSYCHIC
Tumblr media
Same situation as Edward. She's a psychic. Alice can easily check through her gift when you feel even the slightest want to go against her. She'll immediately fix the problem and spend more time with you and be much more attentive too. However, if you decide to rebel against her far too many times, she might just let you attempt an escape. Under her watchful eye, of course, since she doesn't want anything to happen to her precious darling but Alice is sure she can make an accident or two happen around you or maybe worsen your day with some horrible mannered humans to get you thinking that going outside and rebelling against her isn't worth it. She'll be faking her worries when you finally decide to come back home to her and she'll fuss all over your health. Alice might hide it from you but she is strategic and quite smart, especially when it concerne you. Your attempt had also given Alice a chance to guilt trip you into being her personal dress up doll. Not that you already weren't before, but things are certainly much smoother if you follow her order like a sweet darling right?
ROSALIE HALE-CULLEN aka THE BEAUTY
Tumblr media
Rosalie would be scoffing at your attempt. She's definitely annoyed and angry at you, but she is also blaming herself for it. Rosalie should have known you would try to escape and she probably had a feeling on that as well, yet she still decided to trust her darling. You could say that she considered it as a test to see your loyalty to her, one in which you had failed horribly. After she has finally calmed down from her anger, which could take a few days, she will return to you with a sweet smile and continue treating you as her precious jewel like she usually does. Now, you can ignore her attempts to win you back over with her charms and even insult her for it, but do remember that Rosalie could be the sweetest person in the world towards her darling, constantly spoiling you with affection and cherishing you with her gentle words. Her actions causes you to be awfully conflicted about your want to escape because why would you want to get away from someone who loves you more than anything in the world? Your doubts could be added if you had terrible partners in the past.
JASPER HALE-CULLEN aka THE SOLDIER
Tumblr media
Jasper will definitely be hurt. I mean, which yandere wouldn't feel hurt at some point if their darling tries to escape? But out of everyone, Jasper is the one who shows it the most. He's trying so hard to adjust for his darling on everything. He had made renovations to his home, specifically to accomodate to your taste and comfort. He had to endure more trainings to keep his blood thirst under control because he doesn't want to hurt you, and so much more. Jasper doesn't expect you to return anything, not even your affections since he understands he needs to earn it, but you attempting to escape is almost like you were dismissing all of his efforts in one go or even worse, you didn't give a shit about them in the first place and that was what probably hurted him the most. Jasper will probably get stricter with you after that. He had tried to be fair and tried to respect your space before and to be quite honest, he is the yandere who gives the most freedom to you after Carlisle. His only rule was for you to not leave him. But you had to break the rule and now, you'll pay for the consequences.
ESME CULLEN aka THE LOVER
Tumblr media
Esme has the same reaction as Jasper. She's hurt but she is also confused as well. Esme is really patient and she understands that you needed time and space to adjust living in her house, your new and sudden home that was completely foreign to you, and she's trying hard to get you adjusted and be as comfortable as possible. Like Jasper, she's doing everything she can for your comfort but unlike Jasper, she expects your acceptance in return. It's not as if she is expecting it in a cruel type of way with the mindset that she's doing something for you, so you should do something for her. No, Esme is nothing like that. However, Esme made sure she was doing everything right and she expected for your relationship with her to go more smoothly, not for you to suddenly escape. Your failed escape made her think she did something wrong, but she's confused because she had done everything right so far. Esme never forced you to return your affections, she wanted to slowly earn it, which is why after your failed escape, she had a talk with you and asked you why you tried to leave. Esme knows that she's flawed but she wants to improve herself and do everything she can to fix the problem but in no world would she ever let you go.
EMMETT CULLEN aka THE JOKER
Tumblr media
Emmett is silent. He was so fucking silent that it actually scared you more than if he got angry at you and he had never gotten angry at you either but it's probably much better than the silent treatment you're getting. No teasings or even some bad jokes. Heck, not even his cheesy pick up lines. Emmett still takes care of you and spend time with you during his silent treatment though. He still cooks meals for you and cuddles with you while watching a horror movie, which is actually his favourite activity to do with you, but he still didn't say a single word. And it was starting to get to you as well. You had no one else besides Emmett in the house, sometimes his "siblings" would visit, but they don't talk much with you and you were beginning to slowly grow insane from the lack of conversations. It didn't matter how long it took but after some time, you broke down and begged for Emmett to speak to you because if the silent treatment continued on, you were sure you would go completely insane. Emmett was surprised when you begged him but he was pleased as well. He was silent all this time in order to make him more tolerable to you, but Emmett also knew that he would eventually break you and hoped it would be enough to get you to want to talk to him.

Ok uh Hi am new to this I just saw the " brilliant " fic which was 👏🏻👏🏻. Sooo I was wondering if u can make a fluff fic about clint barton x male reader, if thats ok with you?
Farm Boy (Clint Barton x Male Reader)
Hello! I'm actually not that much of a Hawkeye fan so it took me a while to write this and find motivation, but I think it turned out alright. Hope you enjoy it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Clint Barton rarely got a day off. Between Avengers missions, SHIELD calls, and the occasional intergalactic catastrophe, his time at home was precious and fleeting. But today? Today was all his. All theirs. The sun was just peeking over the horizon when Clint stretched out in bed, the familiar creak of the old farmhouse adding to the peaceful ambiance. Beside him, you were still curled up in the covers, your hair tousled and your breathing soft. Clint smiled lazily, taking a moment to watch you before slipping out of bed as quietly as he could.
The kitchen smelled like coffee and bacon a half hour later. Clint hummed to himself as he flipped pancakes, a skill honed over years of needing to impress his husband after burning a few too many breakfasts in the early days of your relationship.
“Is that bacon I smell, or am I dreaming?” Your groggy voice drifted into the kitchen, accompanied by the sound of your socked feet shuffling across the hardwood floor.
Clint turned with a grin, a spatula in one hand and a mug of coffee in the other. “Morning, sleepyhead. I figured I’d let you sleep in for once, but your stomach had other plans, huh?”
You chuckled, pulling him into a quick kiss before stealing the coffee. “You know me too well.”
The morning passed in a haze of quiet domesticity. Clint insisted on dragging you outside after breakfast, despite your protests about the slight chill in the autumn air. The two of you spent hours tending to the garden, chasing a rogue chicken that had escaped its coop, and splitting logs for the fire pit. It wasn’t glamorous, but that was the point. It was simple, real, and yours.
By late afternoon, the sun was hanging low in the sky, casting a golden glow over the farm. Clint had convinced you to take a break on the porch swing, a thick blanket draped over both your laps. He leaned back, one arm around your shoulders, the other hand fiddling with a mug of cider.
“This,” Clint said, breaking the comfortable silence, “is what I miss the most when I’m away. Just being here with you. No explosions, no supervillains, no crazy missions. Just us.”
You smiled, leaning into his side. “You’re going to make me cry.”
“Don’t cry, babe. I’ll just have to kiss it all better, and that sounds like a lot of work,” he teased, though his lips were already pressing a tender kiss to your temple.
You turned to face him, eyes soft as you brushed a hand through his hair. “You know you’re a lot more than just Hawkeye to me, right? You’re my Clint. My husband. The guy who makes terrible pancakes and hogs the blanket at night.”
He smirked. “Terrible pancakes? You ate three of them this morning.”
“Details,” you replied with a grin, leaning up to kiss him. Clint melted into it, his hand coming up to cradle your face, the moment stretching out like a scene from a romance movie.
As the sky turned shades of pink and orange, Clint sighed contentedly, pulling you closer. “I don’t know what I did to deserve this life with you, but I’m not letting it go. Ever.”
You rested your head on his shoulder, your fingers intertwining with his. “Good. Because I’m not letting you go, either.” The two of you stayed on the porch swing long after the sun disappeared, wrapped in each other’s warmth, soaking up every second of Clint’s rare, perfect day off.

Reader is an autistic rookie agent. Natasha is her new SO (no-one else would train her) after a rogue gun shot sends us into an autistic burn out Natasha realises just how much she has to step up to train , support and encourage her new and frankly only rookie.
(Maybe Nat remembers a girl from the red room being punished for something similar and Nat get very protective of R almost overnight? )
The someone
Tumblr media
NO ONE'S POV Y/N takes a deep breath before stepping into the gym, her palms are sweaty from how much she's nervous. She's having her very first training with non other than Black Widow herself.
Fury specially assigned her to Natasha. The redhead has no idea why. There are lots of other agents who can train and Natasha has a lot of work with being an Avenger now.
Though she knows Fury doesn't do anything without a reason, so she just goes along with it. Now she's waiting in the gym for her trainee.
When she sees the young girl approaching, she crosses her arms over her chest and waits until the girl walks closer.
"You're late" Is the first thing that leaves Natasha's lips.
Ever since Y/N woke up today, her day has been terrible. She spilled her tea, so she needed to change her favorite shirt for a different one.
She lost her keys, so she looked around her entire apartment just to find them in one of her jackets 30 minutes later.
"I-I'm sorry, miss. I didn't mean to, but my keys-"
"None of that. Just make sure it won't happen again. And you can call me Natasha" The redhead cuts the young girl off, receiving an immediate nod.
"Won't happen again, miss. I-I mean… Natasha" Y/N blurts out, giving Natasha an akward smile before putting her bag down on the ground to get ready for her training.
Everything seems to be great. Y/N is in a good shape which actually is quite surprising to Natasha as she wasn't expecting it at all.
The girls do some running, combat skills, work out. And then Natasha takes Y/N to the shooting range to see how good Y/N is with a gun.
"Take these" Natasha hands the younger girl soundproof headphones as soon as she explains everything, expecting Y/N to put them on and do what she just told her.
But Y/N just keeps looking around in awe, she's never been here before and this place just amazes her. She's lost in her own world that she doesn't acknowledge Natasha's pulling the trigger.
A loud bang gets Y/N back to reality, her hands start shaking before she moves to sit into the nearest corner, her shaking hands hugging her knees tightly. She struggles with breathing by now which got caused by crying.
Meanwhile Natasha puts her gun down, turning around to tell Y/N to try it. The redhead immediately puts her headphones away when she sees the state her trainee is.
"Y/N!" She rushes to the girl, kneeling down in front of her. "Hey, hey, it's okay. You're okay" She tries to comfort, but it doesn't seem to help.
"What do I do?" Natasha asks herself, thinking hard about anything that could help Y/N calm down.
Suddenly she remembers a situation that happened back in the Red room. There was a girl about her age, she was hidden in a corner, crying and shaking just like Y/N is right now. She got really badly punished back then, but Natasha knows she has to try something now and calm Y/N down.
"Y/N, it's Natasha. You're okay, sweetheart" Natasha says softly, placing her hand on Y/N's knee, but the girl just flinches away.
The redhead lets out a breath in frustration, closing her eyes and thinking about what to do. When she opens her eyes again, she spots the headphones she's still holding. She very carefully puts them on Y/N's ear, hoping that the silence would help the young girl calm down… and after a while it finally does.
———
The clock hits 2 am and Natasha still isn't sleeping. She just can't, her mind keeps wandering from the young widow to her young trainee.
She knows she needs to be more careful and keep her eye on the girl. She doesn't want her to go through anything similar as the girl back in the Red Room and wants her to feel safe.
The morning finally comes and Natasha goes to the gym where she's supposed to meet Y/N. Like she knew this would happen, Y/N runs in at the last minute, blurting out one apology after another, but Natasha just smiles, hands the young girl a bottle of water and a protein bar for breakfast.
Y/N clearly needs someone to look out for her and someone who would make sure she always feel safe and comfortable. Someone who would support and encourage her. And Natasha is ready to be the someone.

Rocking with the Joker
It was a dark day in Gotham. The dark clouds and heavy rain weren't a new sight for its residents. Some would say it's the city's natural state.
Heavy rain accompanied by thunder usually muffled the cries of people with knives or bullets in their abdomen from a deal gone wrong. At the same time, it was a comfort to Gothamites.
Rain showed the best and worst of the world's crime center. The muffled sounds made finding sleep in the city easier. It made its people more receptive to helping one another. Rain, Darkness, Shadows.
Those were the playgrounds for the very protectors of this city.
It was the very thing that frustrated Oracle at the moment. Looking through wet lens into the alleys and abandoned sites like her life depended on it.
Maybe it did. Switching to being the lady in the chair surely wasn't a seamless but she did a damn good job, if the numerous voices in her ear didn't remind her enough. But she couldn't help her frustration. Even if they didn't speak often, they shared a look. A silent promise to get back at their assailant for what he's done.
A week ago, rogues used the same playground to break out of Arkham. The Joker was out there. Somewhere.
And Jason was silent. It's been slowly eating at her as they caught more rogues. Tim and Dick reported back that they've 'contact'. Whatever they wanted to call it. She hated the 10-foot pole between him and the other bats. She knew he hated it too.
A week since the Joker escape, and his pit rage hasn't died down since.
Her mind stopped wandering as she heard the GCPD. Reported sightings of the pale green gas inside an indoor concert hall, the feint laughter in the background growing louder by the second. With a practiced deftness, she located where the officer's coordinates were and reported to the bats... Right near Crime Alley. "Does anybody have eyes on Red Hood?" Nobody responded for 1...3...5 seconds. She knew well enough that one of the first casualties when Hood was like this was his helmet , and she assumed right when she got in to see the blurry camera that glitched with static occasionally. Right at the doors of the venue. She could make out people crumbling to their knees, desperately making their way for exits before succumbing to the drug. The haunting laughter ringing out from crying faces with grins too large. "I NEED ETAS! STAT!" "I'm 5 minutes away!" Tim responded as he grappled from rooftops. "I'm there in 3!" Dick was hoofing it as she focused on Red Hood. She opened her mouth, and her stomach dropped. Static graced her ears as it came in, but she was sure she heard correctly. "I'm going in." "Hood, just hold on." She knew better than hoping he'd listen. She checked the clear camera. At least, he had his rebreather on. "Hood is making contact. Hurry!"
"On it!" The chorus of voices and affirmative "Hm!" brought the comfort of the rain back to her. He's not alone in this, and neither is she. ---- The corners of his eyes tinged with green as he felt the pits simmer to life. He had to act fast. He had the officers on-site help him and his boys move the people nearest to the exits away before he turned back to the venue and collapsed forms inside. He could barely make out what the others were saying, but he knew well enough that the venue could comfortably fit 1,000 people. Far too many for him and 20 odd cops to handle.
He could still remember Bella, the rock star in the making, nerded out when a meta from the out of the city announced a surprise performance for the end of her tour. What was her name again? He followed the sounds of gunfire the further he got in until he made it to the open double doors. There weren't any bullet holes through the wall and door frame, so he made his way in. His heart was in his chest as he laid his eyes on the room surrounded in green. Lazarus green.
Jason had to keep reminding himself, freak out later, there's a job to do. Freak out later; there's a job to do. FREAK OUT LATE-! Green paved its way through his sight.
But the pits we're of afraid of it. Should he be? He needed something, anything to ground himself. So he touched the freaky thing. The green at the encompassing his vision vanished. Like oil to water, whatever he felt now wasn't the pits. It was like taking a dip into a pool. Cold enough to make you flinch, but it warms to his touch. He didn't notice he was dragging his hand along it until a guy's voice rang out over the mental and physical gunfire. "EMBER!" He took off a purple guitar with teal flame details and tossed it over.
The guitar straps fitted on her like a glove. "I GOT IT, B! LET'S KNOCK THEIR SOCKS OFF!" Jason didn't realize he was holding his breath until he exhaled in relief. Not noticing the band members' attention snapping to him as he finally caught sight of the joker. He gave the room a once over. The room with cheering fans as the band members were still being fired on. "THIS IS EMBER AND THE BUSTAS-" The three other members responded,"-AND WE'RE HERE TO BUST YA BALLS!" What. The. Fuck.

rambles on the sm7 sneakpeaks
Tumblr media
IM FREE IM OUT OF CLASS ok let me ramble and be incorrect
santa claus found in the woods
this could hint a lot of things at the same:
main setting is in the forest
as it's been revealed that the characters will be wearing winter wear and that it's in the northen hemisphere, the timeframe is (nearing) christmas
the missing kids will be found in the forest by the police and/or parents at the end
related to the cult, a dead body is discovered (which will appear irrelevant until you get to the fungus ant)
santa dies again rip
chowder va forth-wall break
a screenshot from chowder (see youtube link) where the forth wall is broken; i hope something similar happens in the episode! probably due to the psychedelic mushrooms
and/or maybe because they were found dirty (i know the below was a simple joke, i was thinking this to be a continuation of the joke ahah)
Tumblr media
gumball reference
well known for its multi-stylisation of characters (both 2D and 3D), i wonder if the kids, through their hallucinations, will get a moment of 3D too lol
otherwise, no idea
doom screenshot
uhmmm no idea specifically but doom is a game (links back to kids hallucinating dnd sessions) + doom as a concept (cult is mostly a doomsday cult)
ophiocordyceps unilateralis + ants
a foreshadowing of zombies apocalypse in later episodes (which has longtime been hinted at in doodles and such). i'm not certain if there will be an emphasis on this in the episode but rather something sneaky at the end
defeating the zombies may be a challenge as it has spores (aka the number of zombies will increase quick from spores AND (or maybe) the classic bite-infection). the fungus thrives in warmer/humid temperatures so if there is a zombie apocalypse... best it not be in summer!
i won't be surprised if the spooky month fungus is just a fictional/inspired one though!
singer + singing in the rain
woah..... musical..... no idea really
edit: actually. maybe the kids hear singing in the woods, which leads to the hansel and gretel themes and explains why they were inside a building
maybe it rains a little bit while the kids are in the forest which explains the next point:
peanut butter baby going ah
brown reminds me of mud + the characters being in the forest during winter + new ref sheets including a "dirty" variation (found on public twitch stream) -> kids will probably be found dirty as a result
Tumblr media
game screenshot
no idea what this is from but it affirms my dnd belief with the class system of mages/rogues/warrior etc.
psilocin on winter background
psilocin is found in most psychedelic mushrooms with a notable side effect being visual hallucinations.
lots of mushrooms today! makes sense considering this sneakpeak that pelo has shared with us (sneaky mushroom at ross' foot).
Tumblr media
my thinking is that the kids accidentally stumble upon some mushrooms, which makes them hallucinate them into believing they are in a DND-inspired world
hinted at with D20 dice gif pelo sent + the most recent public twitch stream where pelo revealed that DND will be involved, renamed as TNT)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(and while of course not every person will have the same experiences, i think what happens is that they will all influence the other lmao)
and then winter background for the winter setting
granny frump
known to be a witch and likes playing tricks, probable hint of the antagnoist of the episode though i wonder if the tree has more villainous value
likely a witch character because the episode has themes around hansel and gretel
Tumblr media
and this public sneakpeak continues that thinking
Tumblr media
though, i wonder if the witch and candy house shenanigans were also hallucinated
the maid
idk my first thought is carmen and richard lol the wealthy bastards
en familia con chabelo
children's and family television show; no idea about this!
scooby-doo
idk maybe the kids get chased which manifests this classic reference
birch trees and eyes
always have been referenced about with the cult, really
i can't remember where so i might be pulling this out of my ass: the eyes has been referred/mistaken to as a tree/forest somewhere ??? idk. might explain why skidad was a woodcarver
there's also this so
Tumblr media
i wonder if any of the eye markings start following characters... spooky...
parents and kids
a lot of people are speculating that this will be a pump/susie parent reveal (note the family gender and possibility of christmas which means parents coming over for the holidays)
i ALSO think it's a general hint of parents reuniting with their missing kids. considering the picture, perhaps pump and susie are last ones to be picked up, watching everyone else with their mother/father except them
but at least grandpa is there, hopefully
marisa from touhou
points again with maid outfit + witch theme... maybe marisa (or coughs mary) cameo in the background again :]

Hello hi friend (@knight-says-nanana) recently made this post referencing our conversation on Jervis Tetch having Wonderland nicknames for everyone but with actual Meaning to it, and I am here to share my List of them
Edward Nygma/Riddler - Dormouse
Not only could he physically resemble a dormouse (Shorter, they tend to have reddish brown/Orange coats I think?), but again, it's more about the sleepiness. The Dormouse is depicted as asleep/Always falling asleep, and only really waking up to correct Alice. Jervis's likely first or longest first meeting with Ed would be in Arkham. Arkham, where his cell has been shown to have "Keep sedated" on it
Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow - March Hare
A hare matches Jon's aesthetic. Long gangly creepy looking bunny. Typically depicted with straw on his head. It's cute if Jervis refers to him as "My dear Hare". March Hare and Hatter are friends!
And also the Hare is routinely depicted as nerve wrecked or delirious, and in adaptations, often dies or suffers
Harley Quinn - Queen of Hearts
The red and black look, the cards aesthetic already there. Plus, Queen of Hearts is childish, bad tempered, quick to overreact, very feared character (Also has a mallet). And also rarely Actually executed people. This one does play on the negatives more, due to the fact she's an antagonist (More obstacle for Alice to clear) But the queen Does have some better traits
Selina Kyle/Catwoman - Cheshire Cat
Obvious, only major cat themed rogue, but Does have deeper implications. Cat dissapears often and without a trace, seemingly or literally invisible, can go places most do not dare to. And also friendly with both the protagonist and antagonist characters. Inherently chaotic neutral force. It does what it wants for it's own entertainment. It may like Alice and act sorta as a guide sometimes, but that in no way means it sticks on her side
Hugo Strange - Gryphon
Somewhat overbearing, dismissive of the obsession and Sorrow of other characters, says they have no fact. Orders around Mock Turtle. This may not fit the greatest, but I like it
The Batman - The Jabberwock
Some unknown and all around feared cryptid? Yeah makes sense
Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin - Dodo
Flightless bird depicted with a cane. Odd, but good natured. Mostly. Does try to burn down a house as a solution to Alice being stuck in it. Organizes the Caucus races. The Dodo character/Races are meant as a critic on systems that lack clarity and decisiveness, who's actions are ultimately unhelpful or pointless
Now there are a couple I'm not entirely sure about yet. It's actually suprisingly hard to make everything fit well
Victor Fries/Mr. Freeze - White Rabbit
Because. He. Y'know. Is running out of time? I do like this one, mostly cause it's a lil funny to me. And also Freeze is mostly only an antagonist to work for his goal, the Rabbit is only "antagonist" Because he has to work for the Queen
Basil Karlo/Clayface - Mock Turtle
Melancholic, sad that it's no longer a real turtle/Just a turtle
Pamela Isely/Poison Ivy - King of Hearts/The Flowers
She is So hard to pin down. I could say Kimg of Hearts to match Harley (Moderate, calm, the one that pardons the subjects, calms the queen, later revealed just as juvenile and willing to execute), or, I could go with the flowers to match her vibe. I really do not know
Waylon Jones/Killer Croc - Jabberwocky/Duchess
Kinda hate both of these for him. Jabberwock because. The obvious. Duchess kinda due to starting off nice to the queen, then transitioning to friendly and respectful with Alice. Major temper (Nervously agressive) but not inherently bad even though she starts/Is Queen aligned?
Harvey Dent/Two Face - Tweedle Dee & Dum/The Walrus & The Carpenter
Tweedle Dee and Dum seem like the obvious answer but I kinda hate it so much. It doesn't feel like it fits and kinda feels insulting. Nothing Truly fits Two Face. Walrus and Carpenter is the closest I got. Walrus (Two Face?) The leader, conniving moocher, con man, yet hopeful of the future. Carpenter (Harvey?), believes getting an honest job will be better, still goes along with the plan, acts before he thinks, quick to anger
Joker - King of Hearts/Knave of Hearts
King to match Harley but also I dislike most adaptations so mm. Knave because he's a coward/j

nightbringer lesson 44
Tumblr media
OH. OKAY. I HAVE A LOT OF THOUGHTS.
I'm still gonna try to keep it brief but woooooooo here I go! Spoilers below!
Tumblr media
Okay, so biggest thing I picked up from this lesson was that Solomon's soul is not in his body. Right? Right?? Everybody else got that, too, right!??! Tell me I'm not insane. More on this later.
So we spent the whole lesson in Babel, where apparently you get to have a "moment of bliss" where stuff happens that makes you incredibly happy.
It starts out with everybody telling Asmo how they really feel about him, which is of course that he's beautiful and kind.
Then everybody ends up in TSL cosplay and Levi info dumps for several speech bubbles. (It's pretty adorable aldksjf.)
Then a ton of cats show up and Satan loses his mind. (But the cats also cuddle with everybody else because Satan's happiest when he sees cats cuddling with his family, the two things he loves in one place~)
Then everybody disappears because Mammon's moment of bliss is to be alone with MC (he's so bbg I can't take it). (Oh but I do feel the need to mention that everybody else was still there, they were just invisible which is SUPER CREEPY. Like c'mon MC was having such a cute moment with their first man...)
And THEN a bunch of food shows up and we think it's Beel's moment of bliss, but it's actually Belphie's because the twins are so close that Belphie is happiest when Beel is happy.
And then it like reverses and we have Belphie napping and all the boys in angel outfits, but it's actually Beel's moment. And they talk about this time they remember Raphael unleashing his spears on Mammon in the CR. And like then they feel guilty 'cause Satan doesn't have those memories but then:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Satan saw everything from inside Lucifer? CONFIRMED. And Lucifer was aware of it, too.
And then everybody's like what was Lucifer's moment of bliss? And they're dumb about it, but MC is like Lucifer's moment of bliss was this entire experience because he's happiest when his family is happy. D'AWW very precious but also kinda meh, imo.
Then Raphael comes back, but it's really him this time yay!
And THAT is when we find out that only your SOUL is transported to Babel. Everybody's physical body was left behind.
Tumblr media
And I was IMMEDIATELY like oh. So THAT is why Solomon couldn't go inside. His soul is elsewhere. I don't think he's soulless, I think he's immortal because his soul is being stored somewhere that isn't his body. THOUGH it would also be interesting if Nightbringer was like... Solomon's soul gone rogue al;kjdsfjdf. But I don't think that's the case.
I think they're using this as a way to explain why people so often say that Solomon is more like a demon. Even though we also got this:
Tumblr media
Hmm. Indeed. Solomon is NOT a demon. They were mad at him for not mentioning the thing about only your soul going into Babel.
Anyway, that's my theory and it's the only thing that makes sense to me though I have no idea what it has to do with anything.
I also thought it was interesting that Raphael is now part of the Brothers No More chat group with Simeon and Lucifer. I hope this means we'll get more of him!
And then this from the hard lesson because wow I hope this isn't just No 2 exaggerating.
Tumblr media
LOL. You want to return something? BURIED ALIVE. That's so Devildom it's amazing.
Anyway, there were plenty of cute family moments in this lesson, but the potential hint about Solomon was the biggest deal, imo. What does it mean? I could be misinterpreting and maybe that isn't the issue at all? Maybe it's like... there's something wrong with his soul and removing it from his body would either expose something about him that he doesn't want the others to know or would like harm it further and put his life in danger? I dunno. He is still immortal, so.
My first thought was soul is elsewhere, but I do think having it like... reveal something about him unexpectedly would be interesting, too, now that I'm thinking about it.
I dunno, what do you guys think?

classpects....? o.o (am watching from a corner w binoculars)
THE 'AURA EXPLAINS HERSELF' SEGMENT OF THE SHOW
Tumblr media
right. a bit naive of me to think no one would care enough to ask. i must warn you, what you're watching is a crash site, my friend. or a confessional scene. your pick. either way, welcome
so, firstly, i'm still assigning titles to siffrin and loop as a pair here and secondly, i'm going by classpect inverse rules for them just like before. a surprise tool that will help us later
in my previous assignment, i made siffrin a mage of doom and, conversely, loop an heir of life. i've since moved on to greener classpect pastures but let me explain myself on this wild pick first. i'll tell why i've done this:
i stupidly mixed and matched domains of time and doom aspects in my head ✌️
mostly that. some of it was also really wanting loop to be the heir of life because that's like the epitome of a progress-providing guide they end up being and it seemed really funny. but most of it was time and doom being unfortunately deceivingly similar to me. happens! i guess! in my defense, they really are quite similar, if you really get into it, aaaaand doom has the entire thing with sacrifice and being a cosmic joke - but at the end of the day, there's more time elements there sighh. a bit embarrassing that i'd defended my train of thought so valiantly but i was, in fact, incorrect. we move either way
so my main defense was that mages learn through experiencing all parts of their aspect and, by the end, possess enough knowledge to self-actualize. and doom is largely about entropy and things passing, and letting go. also rogue of doom did not fit them at all so mage was the thing that made most sense
but yeah, the more obvious title of the rogue of time fits siffrin better, y'all we're right, i'm ready to admit it, fine
time is mostly about death and passing, but the thing that evaded me in my initial analysis was that it's very much about endings too. and siffrin, subconsciously, steals away the end again and again. some other rogue of time propaganda:
firstly, their ability of speeding up the party is a huge point towards that, i can't believe i somehow forgot about it. passing on the turn less so, isa can do that too, but the point stands that they literally redistribute time in favor of their party. secondly, duhhhh time travel, not much to add here. thirdly, seeing doomed versions of yourself is. yeah. very time-coded. similarly, having your fckin time clone just hanging around is. time-coded. speaking of.
you know what is the most important here, though? the thing that made me rethink my initial analysis?
MAKING LOOP THE KNIGHT OF SPACE IS EVEN FUNNIER THAN THEM BEING THE HEIR OF LIFE
so knights, other than their usual quests and tasks, and business with their own aspect, are meant to help the space player create the universe frog in the game. but if the space player is the knight, they're So Screwed. cosmic joke type of character. can't catch a break. everything on their shoulders. it's so funny to make loop that, and when i realized that rogue of time inverses into that, i immediately started thinking that hmmm you know maybe it does have some merit......
so yeah, thank you loop for bringing me over to the light side with your sheer propensity for tragedy. i took the scenic route but we're here now
oh yeah mira is still a knight of breath and king is still the prince of hope. idk about the others yet even if odile immediately seems to signal either mind with her. entire thing. or heart with her search for identity. and isa has some page-ism about him maybe, and bonnie feels? like they'd be rage, and it'd pair nicely with the king's aspect. but idk, not yet lmao
anyway thanks for listening to my penance, have some doodles i made when figuring it all out as i was messing around with an old brush

Arkhamverse Riddler Getting Jealous
The glow from the vast number of monitors showing various crooks and crannies of Arkham City spotlighted his bent over form.
Edward was scribbling down riddles, diagrams of traps, anything that came to his amazingly brilliant mind.
Trying to distract himself from his ludicrous emotions…
Pfft, jealousy…an emotion far too trivial for him to consider unless it's to manipulate someone else with for his own personal gain.
But what were you doing fraternising with the other Rogues and their henchmen?
You knew that he'd know what you're doing and where you were…
Not that he was following you or anything either…nothing like that.
You were just an assistant–someone who's managed to prove themselves somewhat worthy and at least minimally competent to get his tasks done for you in a timely manner.
Edward aggressively shoved the loose pages all over the floor in a huff.
Edward had more than plenty of other concerns and tasks that took priority over whatever insignificant activity you were doing.
Dulled strained green eyes glanced back up at the screen–
You were spouting away with some of Penguin’s thugs…
A scowl grew across Ed’s face as one thug put his filthy hand on your shoulder–
His signature purple gloves got tighter as it bit against his clenched fists.
In a sharp short moment of pure indignation–he promptly turned the monitors off.
Edward held his head in his hands, his teeth grinded against each other.
The man indeed had to succumb to the fact he was disgusted to see you with others.
A can of worms that the genius didn’t dare to open–but he knows it’s there, to deny it anymore would be futile. Hopefully, maybe, it can be hidden so far down he’ll forget it’s ever there.
“Ed?”
Silence hung in the air like a carcass in a butcher's freezer.
“Ed?” You called again as you walked closer to him.
“What?!” Ed snapped his head up from his hands. “Can't you see I'm busy!”
Any other time, you'd just roll your eyes and let him be, usually coming back when you know he's been up past 18-20 hours and insist he gets rest.
However, you didn't, taking note that he wasn't tinkering with any equipment–the cameraa were all shut off for the first time…
“Yeah…very…”
Ed just grumbled as he turned away from you and back to the blank screens.
The screens buzzed back on as Edward switched them back to life.
“What were you doing…”
“What're you-”
Edward snarled before kicking his chair back as he stood up.
“Don't be stupid…you know what I'm referring to…don't make me ask again.”
You crossed your arms. You were mostly used to Ed’s shit, but you couldn't help but feel this was caused by something else entirely…and it put you off.
“Well, if you must know…I was getting intel, you mentioned how quiet some of the informants got so I took the liberty of finding out what's going on–”
You continued before Ed could criticize how careless that was. “I gave false names and stories…no one has a clue I'm working with you…”
You moved across the floor to where you were side by side with the rogue.
You dropped a few cassette tapes on the desk before turning around and walking off.
“You're welcome.”
Ed tried to think of something belittling and critical to say but somehow couldn't muster the energy.
He glanced over at the tapes that you clearly labeled to his specifications…
Edward Nygma will deal with this later–he sees Batman out of the corner of his eye.
It's showtime.

Spoilers for Absolute Flash #1!
This issue jumps around a lot in time, which is fitting for a Flash book because the concept's intertwined with time just as much as it is about speed. To sum up: Wally has terrifying new speed powers and is on the run from his angry father (Rudy) and probably the US military, and the events of the past two days are revealed in stops and starts. Wally was lonely on the military base, and one of the base scientists (Barry Allen) made the ill-advised decision to bring him into his classified lab to see the messed up secret project Rudy and the military have been working on. There are a bunch of apes imprisoned in the lab, including a weird alien-looking one, and Barry hopes to connect with Wally by offering him a position within the project. Rudy is pissed when he finds out and forbids Wally from getting involved, but Wally goes back anyway while Barry's in the midst of an experiment, and things go so awry that Barry's reduced to bones. Wally believes himself responsible for the death and has now gotten weird powers, and presumably he then went on the run -- and now Rudy has sent the Rogues after him.
The Rogues consist of Captain Cold (who may actually have that rank in the military), Digger Harkness and his intelligent boomerang tech that he talks to and seems to consider as a partner, Lisa (presumably called Golden Glider, though not in this issue), and Jesse (who's been called the Trickster by series artist Nick Robles, but isn't called that here). Digger calls Jesse creepy, and I'm glad for it because she/they/he definitely has an unsettling look thanks to that eerie helmet and long gangly limbs. Len says to bring Wally in alive, but clearly leaves open the possibility that they might go for the kill.
The end of the issue is a flash-foward to one year after the rest of the story, and features what is presumably Mirror Master looking at some of the project's classified files. Among them is an image of what appears to be Tar Pit, and an invasion from Gorilla City. Wally's also shown making contact with the little simian creature seen earlier in Barry's lab, and that might be this universe's Grodd…though that's just supposition based on its prominence in preview images, and writer Jeff Lemire's comment about Grodd being a major character in this series. Also, one year later the project's lab has been left in ruins, and maybe a villain did it, maybe Wally did it, or maybe it was even done by the military itself.
This was a pretty good start to the series, and I'm cautiously optimistic about it. We'll probably see more of the Rogues' pursuit of Wally at some point, and it seems likely that Tar Pit will show up in the near future. And there'll likely be a conflict with Mirror Master in a later issue, or maybe it'll even be interspersed with the other arcs taking place in the present. The time jumping does make for a chaotic story, so hopefully there won't be too much of it to make the plot confusing. It seems probable that Project Olympus is an attempt to attain super speed or perhaps some other type of power -- Barry dies wearing a Flash suit that Wally later wears -- and that will likely be revealed over the course of the series. And who knows whether Rudy will forgive Wally for what happened, or whether Wally would even want him to; Rudy doesn't seem to be physically abusive, but he's certainly a crappy authoritarian father. However, he's not wrong about the project being dangerous, and he may have genuinely wanted to keep his son safe.
It'll be interesting to see how the various Rogues are revamped in the series, and hopefully we'll get some neat takes on lots of Flash villains! Mirror Master does seem spooky. I'm still not sold on Trickster's kinda edgy take thus far, but maybe it'll turn out well and be an interesting creative choice.
