Update on the Hiccstrid Accidental Marriage AU - we are 3.5k words in and I have decided that Gobber is an ~ambiguous parent figure~ for Hiccup, although that has yet to come to play in the fic yet.

(Also I have yet to get to Astrid's POV although I feel I must have an Astrid POV because I need to put her family into fic, and also she is Bad At Feelings and being romantic and I need to contrast Hiccup's current depressed thought spiral with something else)

He had been going through something at the time and had been really, really insistent on finishing the course despite the poor guy’s attempts to get him to stop pestering him. Eventually, through perseverance and a stubbornness rivalled only by the fiercest Gronckle, Tuffnut had an official certificate with the signatures of the officiator, the chief and Gothi herself to say that yes, he could officiate Viking union ceremonies. Tuffnut had promptly forgotten about this, shoving the certificate into the depths of his chest, because the new dragon training class had begun and the thing that he’d been going through had kinda fizzled out until it was as forgotten as the qualification. Forgotten, that was, until today. “We’re what?” Astrid asks, already reaching for her axe as Tuffnut recalled that little slip of paper and the despair on Halbjorn’s face. “Yeah, it’s all coming back to me now,” he says, apparently unfussed about his imminent demise at the edge of Astrid’s axe. “Yeah we had lessons for months. Halbjorn was weirdly opposed – I think he jumped off a cliff at one point – but I got that certificate anyway!” “Chief said we had to give him a sheep in recompense,” Ruffnut adds, nodding along to her brother’s story. Hiccup can already feel the despair setting in as Snotlout starts to laugh uncontrollably. He and Astrid were, by the law of Vikings and of Valhalla, married.

Little by little we are Getting There

More nonsense under the cut. Eventually I'm gonna make an actual nice post about this build with all my reasoning for Why They Wanted It Like This.

I am staying with my color scheme of wood and various shades of blue. I like it so far. Kelly has a little basket of stuff for her morning runs. There's a secret bathroom tucked off next to it so there's One bathroom that isn't connected to a bedroom and also for easy access to a shower after coming in from the beach. Sand is the enemy.

Changed my mind and decided the front bedroom was gonna be Fred's. Kelly's is the one in back. John and Linda are on the third floor. I do like to think they tried to give their original plans to the architect and there was. one bedroom with two sets of Spartan-grade bunk beds and the realtor was like 'absolutely not, we have to think about resale value. also you are fully-grown adults.' But they didn't say that last part out loud.

Anyway this is so beyond the height of luxury for people who spend most of their time in combat, in cryo, or on a starship.

Laundry. Very important. They're So Efficient About It Too.

Office loft! These are my favorite kinds of rooms to furnish. Still not sold on those desks, may pick a different kind.

I'm pretty much done with the back deck, I just need to put some stuff on the wall behind the bar. Also that little couch may not stay there, we'll see. Kelly's room has a door that opens onto this under the covered part.

I love. making houses with a really tall living room and a loft. It's my favorite thing. And it looks so good.

And the front patio is basically done. Many many social spaces for them as a compromise for the separate bedrooms. Ignore the trash on the beach I don't know if I'm gonna use it yet and that's where it stays until I decide.

since i started vampire january i've watched 30 days of night, thirst and byzantium. thirst was probably my fave, i thought it would be bc i like park chan wook's stuff... but i did love the mother/daughter vampire relationship in byzantium.

i'm trying to do different types of vampire films to mix it up, so next i'm gonna do an old one like the vampire lovers or maybe OG nosferatu. and then castlevania nocturne s2 comes out on the 16th!!

Don't laugh at people or mock people who are "childish". People are allowed to like things that are considered "childish". Toys, kids cartoons, anything like that can be a valuable source of comfort for the people who like them. It's important to have things in life that make you happy, and without them it gets miserable. Wether that thing is stuffed animals or cooking or writing lyrics, what's important is that others don't ridicule and belittle them for it. There shouldn't be such judgement for the things that make people happy.
