Everyday I grow more and more upset at the lack of Shidou/Yuno parallels in any official Milgram content. Especially now that we have a clearer picture of how being voted innocent affected both of them differently, despite viewing their own murders in similar ways

More mildly annoying (but still endearing) habits

Is one of these people that bites as a form of affection. It's not even sexual - tho, at times it might be - he just likes biting you. It's only a problem when he bites a place without much fat around the bones and it hurts, though you might end up with bruises in the most random places.

Is a passenger princess. He may know how to drive and just not do it with you around, or he may not know how to drive at all, either way you are driving. Or you are both taking public transportation, cause he ain't driving. Maybe he just wants to be pampered - or maybe it's for the best he doesn't drive.

Is the person who will eat half of your food when you offer a bite. Just don't offer a bite, or cut a piece for him yourself, or leave the last for him. Otherwise, he'll eat a nice big chunk of whatever you offered. Is shameless about it too, he might apologize but you know he'll do it again next time, just won't change.

hear me out... gf who likes to read and always go to the local bookstore for books and her bf who knows nothing about novels yada yada but still accompanies her quietly and patiently.

got the idea based on a tiktok vid i found yesterday. pairings! shidou ryusei x y/n because he defo doesn't read novels. pure fluff with a goofy and a bit ooc shidou?

"nah y/n, i'm so bored can we go do something together, pleaseeeee?"

shidou whined. you laughed at his childish behaviour. who would've thought this big, scary looking man could act like a total baby. and the best thing about that is that he only acts like this around you and you only.

"where you off to, pretty?" he asked as he sits up on the couch, head tilting to the side with a quizzical look on his face. "to the bookstore. i heard that they have restocked (fav author)'s most latest release!" you said excitedly.

you immediately laughed when you saw how blanked your boyfriend looked. "it's okay if you don't want to go with me though, it'll be a really quick trip-"

"I WANT TO GO WITH YOU!"

shidou immediately changed into his proper clothes in a speed of light. 5 minutes later, you both were already heading down the stairs of your shared apartment, on your way to the nearest bookstore. "you're just making an excuse to spend time with me, don't you?" you side eyed him jokingly.

the taller man laughed. "nah, wanted to tag along so that i can protect my little insect here." you gasped at the nickname. "excuse me, you're the one who's the insect! you and your antenna like hair!" you shoved him playfully as you crossed the road hand-in-hand. "hey now, don't make fun of my hair or you'll be getting sting tonight," he said in a low voice, instantly knowing what he meant. "NOOOO SHUT UP RYUSEI!"

minutes later after walking, you finally reached your desired bookstore. you rushed in, forgetting about your boyfriend who panicked and tried to catch up to you. "let me carry the basket for you, m'lady," he offered as he took the basket from your hands. you smiled as you continued to browse for your favourite author's works. "ohh they're all here oh my god!" you squealed as you put them down into the basket. shidou quietly follows you around the store, not saying a word as he admired how the stars shined in your eyes whenever you saw a novel that fits to your liking.

"do you want anything, ryu? a volume of your favourite manga perhaps?" you asked. to be honest, you felt bad that he has to accompany you to do something that he isn't fond of. "hm? oh, no need i'm good," he said, blandly. you flinched a bit at his tone of voice. is he mad? is he starting to get bored of me? your thoughts ran through your mind as your eyes started to drop to look to the floor.

shidou noticed this of course. as your boyfriend of nearly a year, he'd notice these sudden change of expressions in you. "hey hey, don't be like that. i was quiet the whole time not because i felt bored or anything. i enjoyed seeing you happy and being yourself in your own space that's all. i would never get bored of you," he explained calmly, as he cupped your cheeks. "aww, come 'ere, there's no need to cry now. i'll never leave your side, my love," shidou pulled you into a hug, patting your head along the process. "thanks ryusei," you smiled, giving him a kiss on the cheek. you were so grateful to have a boyfriend like him <3

Liar Tax

(Also Known as: Nott had Visions due to Dehydration about the Shidou covers)

So the cover songs are some of my personal favorite things about Milgram. When I first got into Milgram I got brainblasted by the Animal cover and was never the same. Since then I've always wanted to write more about the covers but I never got around to writing anything about them at length.

And then I put on the Shidou Covers.

On the count of "I-love-you"

The most noticeable common denominator when it comes to these songs is the concept of lying which I will relegated to a secondary element because I think these two songs have something more interesting to give us when it comes to insight on Kirisaki Shidou.

Shidou is very much what I would dub an Eternity Seeker. He longs for the:

T1Q16: What is the definition of happiness? A: To be promised an unchanging tomorrow.

He has this distinct romanticized version of the past and wishes he had the stable family life that he lost. His songs and VDs are tinged with this very strong sense of grief and longing for the better past where nothing bad ever happened actually.

“Throw down” connecting you with me, To keep you alive, you are still living

His crime as well seems to be connected to him trying to save "someone" (presumably his wife but also possibly one of his children) and failing. He's not exactly someone who can cope with change Well. That's why he's here after all. He's forsaken a lot of "morality" to get what he wants here.

"Stolen? Just whatever do you mean?" Committing myself to this performance, set lines and all Those memories we've desperately created and clung to, they blend together and feelings between us intensify

That’s right, for all these dirty delusions, let’s settle the bill with this dirty money

And he's not exactly uh- great at coping with this entire.

For someone who has self admitted to have done a lot of bad things, is stubborn and unwilling to change, and still says that for love he would do:

T1Q6: What are you willing to sacrifice for love? A: Everything.

He's pretty unforgiving to himself about this. He asked a 15 year old to kill him and all. His morals and beliefs are strict and rigid and it hurts everyone around him, including him.

Liar Dance reflects this. The singer is unforgiving and hateful towards who their singing towards but the singer talks about how:

It's swallowed you up completely, hasn't it? Liar Turn me inside-out and I look just like you It's nice to meet you, "Crime" and Punishment" No matter what you say

It's too late to apologize We're already partners in this crime called "love"

Acknowledging that they are the same in the end. Akin to how even though Shidou makes a distinction between the part of him that committed horrible acts of presumed medical malpractice and the part that is a good respectable member of society in Throw Down. They are Both Him.

And the feelings of deceit and guilt that comes with tricking people into believing that you (Shidou) are better than you actually are. The feeling of having gone too far, That:

“Throw down” ethics is a delusion I’m still guilty even if the morning comes

Liar Dance thus functions as a bit of a self condemnation. But I don't think that's the only possible meaning that can be derived from it. As Liar Dance is also distinctly about weak and false love.

I'm not going to sit here and tell you Shidou didn't care about his family. What I will say is that You Should Read These Posts by @/archivalofsins that break down the distinct possibility that Shidou Kirisaki might just be kinda a bad dad. His romanticization obscuring the knowledge that, no family can be that perfect and that Shidou was most likely less good then he would like to admit.

Dance away, liar This love has swelled up like a balloon, let's turn it into a lie with the prick of a needle On the count of "I-love-you"

It's a lie because any sort of perfect cishet marriage is a lie. That's not a thing because there's no such thing as a perfect relationship. Shidou's standards are so high that they could be considered childish.

A family and love so perfect it can't be anything But a lie.

Turning wishes into reality

But that's not all.

While Delusion Tax is also a song that can pretty easily be mapped onto Shidou's feelings of selfishness about the morally questionable things he did for the sake of what he wants. There's also another aspect of it and Shidou's character I'd like to explore.

Kirisaki Shidou is a Boyprince.

Or uh- to read better in Milgram terms. A Savior.

Shidou Kirisaki has this thing about needing people to rely on him to feel...alive and needed.

That’s right, there’s justice that needs saving See, indispensable, I’m indispensable

Existing for your sake alone, mandatory affections and obligated kindness

He needs to be useful to others because to feel like he deserves a place in the world. To feel like he can live within it. He chose to be a doctor because:

T1Q1: Why did you choose your current workplace? A: Because I thought it'd let me contribute to society.

after all.

However, Shidou Kirisaki is self-admittedly selfish despite these seemingly altruistic intents.

Though you should be satisfied, a voice from within shouts “NO!” We have an idiot on our hands, it seems…

For many reasons, but one of them is because he doesn't really care too much about a person's autonomy if he thinks he needs to save or guide them in some way.

This is the most clear with Amane. Who hates him for this!

Shidou: I…… I just don’t understand. If everything about MILGRAM is true…… why did a child like you have to become a murderer? Just imagining what sort of circumstances must have led to that, it makes me so sad…… Amane: ……*sigh*. Is that right. I don’t think I’m going to get along with you, Shidou-san. I don’t agree with the fact you refuse to acknowledge that I have my own free will, and that I should be held accountable for my actions, just because I’m a child. I may have only been alive for 12 years, but all the choices I’ve made, even if they weren’t the best ones, were entirely my own. What point is there in you getting sad when I have no regrets myself?

Because he longs for someone to save to have purpose in this world, he implicitly imposes himself as a "larger authority" on them. Believing his actions and feelings to have a greater importance then what they say.

Let’s pay that Delusion Tax For the sake of making everyone’s life oh so wonderful…

While the Delusion Tax can also read as the "price" he paid in the attempt to what he wanted when it came to his crime.

That which you wish for, the person you think of, The past which you hate as well, they’ll all be as you like. The kind of face and chest you desire, they’ll be granted if you pay.

it can also be read as what Shidou "sacrifices" for the sake of:

making everyone’s life oh so wonderful…

Since, Shidou also has a thing about choosing what he believes to be more valuable and important to a community and this extends to how he treats the people around him.

“Throw down”, someone’s value Cannot be the same as another “Throw down” should choose between superiority or inferiority

He creates these defined lines of who is better and worse, who would be more helpful and who he can...ignore for the sake of others.

Not because he's an evil person who wants to sacrifice people. Again, he has world's worst guilt complex. Just because...from a pragmatic standpoint...some people just contribute less than others and Oh No Don't Look at this Wikipedia Page for Eugenics I have Accidentally Linked!

"Hey, that girl is pretty great… Her too!" Looks like you’re thinking some pretty nice thoughts over there… Are you really satisfied with just that? Don’t you think it’d be nice for it all to come true? “That girl is alright… That one works too, I guess” Pretending you love compromise, what a liar!

Delusion Tax's perspective Singer is talking about granting people's Wishes. For a price. But that price is good for something better right?

Everything must have an equivalent exchange right?

Well, now we can circle back to his murder because, well, that's not really how life works either. Life isn't really fair in the sense of you pay something and you get what you want back. Sometimes you pay everything and still lose.

You can't save everyone, not necessarily because you were naive or because you didn't try hard enough or didn't do the dirty work you should of or whatever. But because, you just can't. It's impossible.

A Lie, a Farce, a Delusion, if you will.

But those wishes won't really come true, even if you pay For it’s all a lie, a great big farce

The Correct Answer, I Don’t Yet Know

Kirisaki Shidou I think, really does want the world to be fair. He wants to contribute, be useful, be important. Have the world stay in balance. He submits himself to be guilty verdict-ed because he Deserves To Die, but changes his mind and tries to convince Es to let him live because people now Need him and the "balance" of the "world" has now shifted into needing him.

It's his own perspective on the world applied onto himself. In Trial 1 he's sorted himself into an undesirable who should not be let into society anymore. In Trial 2 he's pinged himself as someone so important and priceless that they Must Not let him go.

Is this a necessarily healthy view? No! Not at all! This harms much more people than him really!

But Shidou's worldview is one that is rigid and working on thoughts on what is "good" or "bad" for the world. It's childish in that sense, causing him to harm others and be stubborn and unwilling to reflect and making him someone who Really Should Not be a doctor, and I think the cover songs explore what he does and the worldview around it really well.

The Prisoners (All the characters who label themselves as prisoners in their "Thank You" messages.)

The People they're imprisoned with (All the characters who don't label themselves as prisoners in their "Thank You" messages)-

I highlighted where they say prisoners under the cut with a few more fun facts-

Haruka, Futa, Mu, and Kotoko all don't put their names on their thank you messages. Mu only puts her song title on hers in Japanese but she has English lyrics from the song highlighted on their as well. Shidou states that this is Milgram Season 2 before putting the title of his song/contribution then signing his full name like an actor would.

Something when coupled with Jackalopes statement in the second trial commencement notice-

Along with Shidou blatantly stating,

"Please listen to me, Es. I've killed people. Lots of them as well. It was for such a selfish reason too. I'm a fine specimen of what a genuine murderer ought to be."

It's really suspicious and funny to think of the implications behind how he signed his thank you message. Especially since in the same interrogation Es notes,

"In comparison to all the interrogations thus far, this one has been progressing far too smoothly. It feels somewhat unsettling."

All of that is a really interesting thing to think about when put all together. At least I think so.

(Star here though Gunsli assisted me with sorting this out some- I find the idea of Shidou being a mole very amusing. It would recontextualize the fact that he's a doctor within Milgram.

Giving the impression that Shidou's inclusion was more of a failsafe, in the event that something like Kotoko jumping her fellow prisoners occurred. It's incredibly convenient that Milgram happened to incarcerate not just one but two people who seem to understand first aid.

Considering Shidou's statements about Amane,

22/10/24 (Shidou’s Birthday)

Amane: ……Kirisaki Shidou. How long do you plan on continuing this foolish behaviour?

Shidou: I wonder what you might be referring to there. I’m just doing what I need to do. If anything, I’d be happy if you would lend me a hand.

Amane: I warned you. I can no longer turn a blind eye to this wickedness taking place right in front of us. You’re bringing ruin unto yourself. Do you understand?

Shidou: No, I don’t understand. It’s my job as an adult to teach you that throwing a temper tantrum isn’t going to make everything go your way. If it’s a test of endurance you want, I’m happy to oblige, Amane.

This idea would also recontextualize his immediate response to the events between trial one and two being to tell Es,

"I think we should put an end to Milgram as a whole. Both for our sake and for yours."

Along with his confusion when Es responds with,

That's impossible.

"Why?!" I can't think of any method of stopping it... or any way to get out. "...!" Milgram won't end just because I want it to. That's all I know. It won't end until your judgment has been completed. That's the crux of it. "Your...the same as us, aren't you?"

Ultimately Shidou recognizes that Es is pretty much in the same position as they are. However, under this framing Shidou would be aware that Milgram is an experiment that can be stopped at any time but not aware of who could stop it or how to himself.

This would give more context to him proposition Es in trial one as well,

During the first trial's proposition being asking for the death sentence off the bat:

"That’s just my personality. I just simply don’t think bad of it—this place, I mean." You mean, Milgram? "Yeah, this place will put me to death." What? "I might not get a golden opportunity like this again, so I’ll get straight to the point. Es… You decide how the prisoners will be dealt with, right?" Yeah. That’s right. "The death penalty is what I’m hoping for. Thank you in advance." I won’t have that. The lot of you can’t decide what your own treatment will be. Only I as the prison guard have the authority to do so. "Exactly. You as the prison guard have the right to do such a thing, Es, so that’s why I’m asking you for this favour."

The "unflappable" attitude that Shidou has here can be read as opportunistic complacency with the idea of him being a mole in mind. This mindset is also alluded to within his MVs, a prime example being where he sits down smiling to himself in Throw Down.

Furthermore, this highlights the progression of his view of Es and how much power they wield within Milgram as a whole. Going from the first presumption of Es having the ability to decide the prisoners' treatment to outright asking them to stop Milgram in trial two. Though, he is swiftly corrected about how much administrative power Es has, as pointed out earlier.

On top of that Shidou is the first of the prisoners to bring up the concept of someone dying due to Milgram and the death penalty at all.

Even going as far as to state,

"Hm… But, this place does smell of the dead though. I’m sure that some sort of death will lie at the end of Milgram."

If Shidou is a mole put into the experiment by Milgram then him asking Es for this could be framed as him raising the stakes. It could even be something management told him to do so the audience would know there was a chance of their actions leading to someone's death. Along with why he's genuinely perturbed when someone else almost dies despite stating he knew some sort of death lied at the end of Milgram from the start.

It's definitely an odd change going from kill to we have to make this violence stop before someone actually dies. Yet, it would make a bit more sense if he thought he was in on the lie but began to find out this was more out of control then he thought. He could still very much be a murderer and they just let him be in on it because he wanted to die anyway so didn't see the harm in using him in this way before he does.

This would also play on this line in Undercover well,

"Even with accusations full of faults and mistakes. You will for sure, with a smile for sure- Be pleased and satisfied."

Because regardless of how this plays out he'd still get what he wanted at the end of the day.

Along with fit the line referring to Shidou too,

"“UNDER” Which way will you throw down your weight? To be the deceived, or the deceiver."

This would also explain why Kazui would refer to Milgram as a prison game in his second voice drama,

"If that happens this prison game would probably come to an end as well." - "So this is unpleasant, hurling slurs of “hostage game”, you do know that it’s up to me?"

I asked @doctorbunny about Kazui's wording here and he said,

He says 監獄ごっこ kangoku gokko kangoku meaning prison and gokko meaning pretend/make believe

The one person known to talk to Shidou the most out of the prisoners and work alongside him. Now what would give him the impression this was all pretend.

(though making himself feel better isn't particularly what happened, he was simply telling her what to do with her life and she didn't particularly enjoy it!!)

So those were my original 5 am thoughts. Once I finally sat down and read the translated timeline at about properly at about? 7 am after sleeping, I was like well awoe.

I read Doctor Bunny's tl of it, so this one is kinda about it:

I've been handling Tear Drop lyrics a lot recently while drafting posts for today and these lines genuinely read as Tear Drop lyrics:

this thought really only came up after some talking with other people, but that last line ah!! She doesn't want to be in charge of dealing with other people's lives in a way a nurse would, acting like a judge because she hates doing exactly that.

the "I don't want to think about the future" line hurt, okay . Sobbing holds the wall. this reads just like that, "I think I'd like to live up to around 40" question. I don't know. It's just so auejrhr to think about how 1) she's not even sure what she wants to do with her life because she wants to find something she can get absorbed in; 2) what if she really is dead? There's no future for her to look forward to; and (possibly, considering Yuno seems to be heavily depressed) 3) She doesn't think there is a reason to because what's the point?

Day four it is! Shidou's drabbles really have like the hightest wordcounts, this one I had to cut stuff out and it's still big. They are the only ones to break into 900 ewords, go figure.

summary. when you spend long enough trying to hit on someone, but they are just too dense, you gotta start appealing to cheap shots. For Shidou, the cheap shot comes with a Christmas flavor, cause who knows, maybe Santa Claus could ignore how he is on the naughty list and give him what he wanted here.

4. Under The Mistletoe - Shidou Ryusei

A gush of warmth hit Shidou the minute he stepped out of the snowy night outside and entered the large house. Its vast living room filled with people made it hard for him to tell if the warmth was from the heating or from the sheer number of bodies. Honestly, he was a bit thrown off at how full this Christmas party was. It was held by one of the club's board members - at what was his winter home, gaudy as fuck.

When Shidou got the invitation, he really didn't plan on attending. What made him change his mind, though, was when he heard you would be there. You were part of the team's medical department, and he'd been trying to hit on you for a couple of weeks now. Trying being the operative word, because you were so immensely dense that he was wondering if you were a robot or something. Not that he would stop if you were, but he was kind of running out of excuses to talk to you.

This would also be the first time he saw you outside a work setting, he'd never heard of you going to any of the work events so far. So, this was his chance to test if you were just way too professional, and maybe see if you'd be a friendly drunk and give him a hand there. Great, now he just had to find you in this sea of people.

It didn't take long for him to spot you, drinking with a group of people and laughing about something. He wormed his way into the conversation and from there on worked to spend most of the party around you, hoping that he could get at least a moment with you alone. By this point, he'd probably make it happen if it just didn't naturally.

You were tipsy, not drunk but happy, friendly. It was a welcomed change from your typical serious demeanor. Not that he disliked the usual you, but now at least you were responding to him better. And soon enough you were both alone sitting at a window nook away from the crowd, but you were still damn dense. Fuck it, he'd have to take matters in his own hands.

"I almost had to slap someone for this, stupid people standing in my fucking way," he grunted, coming to sit back down at your side as you watched the snow fall outside.

"Careful that you don't punch someone important by mistake," you laughed, looking back at him and taking the beer he offered you and clinking your bottles together before taking a swing.

"Hey, I'm not that stupid," Shidou protested, pouting in your direction for a moment.

"But you are that crazy," you laughed again, nudging him with your shoulder before you turned back to the window, leaning forward to watch the movement of the cars in the entrance below. "Fuck, look at all those expensive cars outside, do you imagine how crazy dangerous those sports cars are in the snow?"

That was the moment Shidou saw his chance. If you were that blind, maybe he could get a little help from the holiday spirit to make things move along. When he went to get your beers, he snatched a mistletoe from one of the garlands and figured a way to just glue it to the arch over the nook you were on.

"Oh, doctors, so worried all the time," he snickered, long arm stretched as he glued the mistletoe in place without you noticing. "Do you wanna take one of these for a ride and find out?"

"No, thanks, I wanna keep my life after I leave this place," you sneered.

"Oh, you got anything planned after here?"

"Not really," you shrugged, turning back to him. "I'm not an energetic sports star like you, I'm boring, I'll go home."

"Well, I could help you change that," he responded, shooting you a mischievous smile.

"Sure," you laughed, closing your eyes and relaxing against the window.

"Hey," Shidou started, too impatient to wait for you to notice the thing on your own, "did you notice we are under a mistletoe?"

"What? No, we aren't, I'd have noticed that," you said, eyes snapping open and turning towards the arch above you. "Hmmm, that looks out of place."

"You are thinking too much, come on, you know what we gotta do," Shidou tried to distract you, leaning forward and invading your space.

"There is no garland here," you muttered, moving around him and turning to look at where the mistletoe connected before turning back to him. "Hey, that's stuck with gum. Ryusei, was this you?"

"Me? Nonsense."

"You know, if you wanted to kiss me, you just had to ask," you laughed, leaning in closer with a tipsy smile.

"Ask?" He couldn't help but laugh at your words, not even noticing when you got closer. "This is what I've been trying to do the whole nig-"

You silenced him by with a kiss, soft lips molding into his own. It started off soft, but quickly it turned more passionate, his tongue finding its way into your mouth as his large hand held your face in place while you braced yourself on his shoulders. After so long, he was finally getting what he wanted, and it tasted so much better than he could imagine.

"Oh," you blurted out the minute you had to break the kiss for air, "I thought you were just messing with me."

Holy fuck, you were the very definition of dense. Good thing he liked you anyway.

shidou doesn't think he's ever been this nervous before. the excitement that thrums through his veins has been set for a while as he planned this exact scenario for months. secretly purchasing plan tickets, reserving only the best fine dining and a hotel stay for them in one of the only other places rin had wanted to go after his spain trip with sae; paris france. they both knew the language, fluent in french to hold their own while they tour for two weeks. it was hard to keep it a secret, it was harder to get rin to take time off for the surprise trip as well without telling him what he had planned. thankfully he had, and the glee expressed from the other as he surprised him with those tickets made shidou happy enough, but that wasn't all that he had for him.

the flight there was nothing short of amusing. seeing his lover so excited for touch down and the whole ride there provided shidou more entertainment than the on-board provided movie the stewards put on for them. shidou made sure their flight got them there at night so they would have the remainder of their vacation to explore as much of the city and some as possible. their first night spent making lazy love in their room, shidou letting his lover express his gratitude before succumbing to sleep.

today however... today was different. shidou woke up that morning giving the birthday boy his first of many gifts, mouth on his pulse, all over his body. marking him with love and possession only the two of them have for one another. “happy birthday rin,” shidou murmurs with so much love he almost ruins his plans right there, but he can't. he worked too hard to set this all up to make it all moot. after having rin in the shower, they make it to breakfast. he let's rin take pictures of the two of them to upload to social media and send to his brother. they visit art galleries, a baking class shidou flopped at but rin excelled at making croissants, and a boat ride along the canals circling the city.

at every opportunity, shidou only stared and smiled at rin, taking in his expressions and relishing that he would want this forever, he will have this forever. he needs to only ask.

dinner reservations were set for when the sun would be near it's lowest before sinking below the skies and the lights from the eiffel tower were ablaze in all its glory. jules verne. they were lucky in getting a private table near the window, they could overlook the park and all the people going about their night while enjoying a fancy dinner and recounting the days events. shidou's back pocket was feeling a bit heavier than usual this night, his stomach too as it twists itself in knots. his nervousness wouldn't stop him though, wouldn't stop him from reaching out and holding rin's left hand, squeezing it gently. “rin,” shidou calls to him, getting his attention.

it's now or never, and the thought of never was something that terrified shidou more than this. rin was everything to him, and of course he wanted to make that known to his boyfriend after nearly fumbling it. shidou stands up, never letting go of rin's hand, prompting him to sit sideway in his seat. he knows the moment he drops to his knees, he just had to get everything out before completely losing his nerves.

shidou reaches into his back pocket, a silver band sat between his index and thumb. he doesn't break eye contact, wanting to see the precise moment rin realizes this is really happening. after the fight, the admittance that he was scared of commitment, asking for time to prepare everything to be perfect for him. rin deserved nothing less than perfect, even if shidou himself isn't. the ring is a perfect fit on his hand, because of course shidou measured it six times just to be absolutely sure it would fit snug on his ring finger. “rin, will ya marry me?”

Actually, something I've been thinking about since I read the timeline convos for the first time is the way Amane treats Yuno and Fuuta.

It stuck out to me since Amane is noticeably hostile towards Shidou and Mahiru for violating cult doctrine (which is even more interesting now considering Amane thinks Mahiru would be a good family member.)

Yet Yuno and Fuuta aren't treated with the same outright hostility. Even though Yuno is helping out Mahiru and Shidou, her interaction with Amane is overall amicable, even accounting for Amane's hostility at the start. (Translation Source)

23/06/27 (Amane’s Birthday)

Amane: What is it…… Kashiki Yuno. Don’t sit so close to me. Go away. Yuno: Sorry for barging in when you’re getting into your worldview thing. But Mahiru-san’s finally managed to get to sleep. Humour me with some small talk while I take a break. By the way, Amane. Have you ever wished you were never born? I’ve thankfully lived a pretty fun life so far, so haven’t really. But you seem to be struggling with something. So I kinda wondered if you thought like that. Amane: ……I don’t think that. Yuno even Mentions helping out Mahiru, and yet Amane answers her question honestly and politely.

And Fuuta is getting treated by Shidou at this very moment, yet Amane doesn't act hostile, and she views Fuuta as "capable of being reborn."

But...what did Amane say love was again?

T2 Q9:

Q: What does love mean to you A: To spread mercy with no limits

Which completely recontextualizes all of this, it's possible that Amane is acting this way Because this is how she's showing her love, in a sense.

Amane is showing them mercy, patience, all the things she wasn't given. She's answers them politely, she believes Fuuta can "get better" she doesn't act hostile because Amane, to some extent, cares about them.

And there is precedence for Amane liking Yuno.

T1 Q10:

Q: Is there any prisoner you're close with? A: If I were to say, I guess it would be Yuno and Mahiru.

Again this begs the question of why she acts hostile towards Mahiru but considering I'm pretty sure Mahiru and Shidou are paralleled with Amane's parents and she didn't like both of them much it's possible that this association is what causes her to act more hostile. She's reminded too much of people who hurt her and thus acts more hostile.
