Whumpee can't run anymore. Their lungs burn, their side hurts, their leg muscles spasm from overexertion and dehydration. They press their back to the thick trunk of a tree, gasping for air, desperate for just a moments respite.

"I know you're there, little bunny," One of the hunters purrs, leaves crunching under xyr boots. Whumpee clamps their hand over their mouth, trying to stifle themselves. It feels like their heart is racing at a hundred miles an hour. Their legs feel like jelly. They're convinced if they leave this tree, they'll just collapse, unable to push any further. But they have to. They can't give up the game.

They stumble into the woodland, more staggering than running. A bang fires off in the distance, and they cry out, falling to the floor in a crumpled heap. Blood seeps out of a wound in their leg. An imposing figure towers over them, rifle in hand, a grin on xyr face.

"I win," xe whispers gleefully, crouching down beside them. "For this week, you're all mine. We're going to have so much fun together."
