Laios & Marcille relapse AU!
My grab at baking dogboy Laios into an AU and yay laicion to top it off! Yaad is having a stroke! ^^
Soooo they had to hire a wolf beastman coach for the king's new behavioral impulses. It's a criminal yes but a PARDONED criminal after the last dungeon war! How many wolf beastkins, which are ILLEGAL, ready at the call of the government (and not too important to send away) do you think there are. This is also a show of alliance! The official answer though is that you two know each other already.
Cue Lycion being a bad teacher who just always goes "Okay so when you get the urge to eat raw meat, don't do that" and a Laios who's been enabled one too many times and is now running off doing whatever he wants howling at midnight in his room, cue therian on furry violence, cue Lycion corruption arc where Laios goes "come be a dog with me :3" more and more convincingly. They were born to play fight together as wolf monstery humanoids, thank you
Alternatively this is all fanfic that king Laios is making of himself when he has free time. The classic "skip work and be a wolf" fantasy
My ipad is still broken and I've still lost my last 2 years of art wips so more doodles & AUs to keep me sane, giggles! 2025 becomes the year where I make art I want for no reason always, real

thinking (yet again) about the what-ifs had Chuuya been a real vampire
cause, like, I'm thinking he'd have moments of clarity where he's able to overcome the vampirism like how he's still semi-conscious through corruption.
something-something Dead Apple scene where he's able to recognize Dazai, say his name, and punch him and resist corruption's influence to just annihilate everything in sight, but it's vampirism and he oscillates between on the verge of attacking and sinking his teeth into Dazai and resisting. Chuuya just ambling through the corridors of Meursault and he's making inexplicable, feral noises but sometimes also calling for Dazai like nothing's wrong.
his eyes returning to normal for the BRIEFEST flicker before they glaze over and go back to being voids. or even just one of his eyes returning to normal so he has an eye that's normal and aware, and the other's still blank and red and very much not there. also thinking about how his time in the lab might affect how vampirism would work on him, and if it could be a case where that's why he's able to resist fully going under vampirism.
...would he just completely lose himself if he managed to activate corruption while under vampirism...or maybe through corruption he actually eradicates it—he almost bleeds out and dies from the corruption, but it purges the vampirism

Dang, being nonhuman really is just like being trans, where I look back at my life and go, "Ohhhhhhhh, so THAT'S where it came from." It's easy for me to fall into the habit of thinking, "Well I just found this new label but I don't want it to infiltrate my whole life." But... it already has. All those moments pretending to be a cat on the playground, making fake "dog packs" with my friends, wrestling with my dog and laying next to her as if I was just another pup, attaching to my dog and cat stuffed animals, making dog-like noises to supplement my words, pretending I had (and still have) a tail to wag when I wanted, shaking out my "fur" and huffing just because I "liked mimicking my dog"—those were all my nonhumanity shining through. Me identifying with the nonhuman/therian label isn't an outliner, it's just the trend.

Thinking about fem 15 Chuuya. I think she would still be called the King of the Sheep, even as a girl, because when you hear the word "king," it has connotations to it even outside of gender. You think of power, which Chuuya has. She has been burdened with it. She has power, like a king, but that power is exactly what chains her to her subjects. The Sheep say that power makes her stronger than them, that she has a duty to protect them, and then aim her at their enemies like a dog with no concern if that dog gets maimed in process.
The word "queen" just doesn't have that same kind of power or connotation to it. When you think of a queen, you think of mother. Companion. "Queen of the Sheep" makes it sound like she is their caregiver when she is not. She is their weapon.
The "King of the Sheep" is a false title given to Chuuya to make her feel responsible for protecting them while still distancing her from the rest. She looks out for them, but she would never be allowed to get close enough to be one of them. "Queen" just sounds too familial to me. Too close for their relationship. "King" is more distant, cold. Easier to dehumanize.
Maybe I just like giving women masculine titles.

'maybe you can seduce her with your sad eyes and she can keep you as a pet' is an insane thing to say to your new employee after feeling up his shoulders for a completely unwarranted moment, but it's even more insane given every other interaction they've had so far. 'would you kiss me? would you? if i asked you too?' 'i'll look after you.' 'i have the virus don't i?' this man is blindingly jealous and thinks he can fix it by marking his territory on him like a proverbial fire hydrant

ABSOLUTELY in love with these commissions from @pixelesma <3
It's my lab puppy Trixie with her favourite toy, a small Peppa Pig plush. I've been gushing over them ever since I received the files and I don't think I can express how glad I am I commissioned these.
If you want a commission yourself, please check out their Carrd. Lesma does pixel dogs, cats, but also large commissions like portraits! I've only had great experiences, so I can definitely recommend <3

thinking about the points of criticism people usually have about qos and honestly it's really fascinating how i can pretty neatly categorize them by "that IS what happened but it was the fucking point and also good" "that IS what happened and it WAS fucked up but have you considered this in comparison to what happens in every other bond movie" and also "did you watch the movie"
the quick cuts in the fight scenes
yeah that occured and it's definitely a choice that you can like or dislike but i thought it was cool! i simply do not care that much about chase/fight scenes beyond like, a. cool music b. what it says about the characters c. fucking up my favorite boy. and they do all these things AND it's over quickly so we can get to the thing i'm actually here for (scenes where people are just Interacting in fucked up ways and manners). plus like without knowing what marc forster's said about it the impression i get from it is that they were like yeah guys okay you know what a bond movie chase/fight scene looks like from a Movie Perspective let's dig into what it FEELS like from bond's side. which i like! again perfectly valid to argue about how well it was executed but they made a bold choice and stuck to their guns about it and i like that in a movie
(there IS one point at which it annoys me and that's the very end of the boat chase because i still have no fucking idea what hell bond actually DOES to that last Villain Boat. but also i don't care so it's fine)
dominic greene as the villain
people say he's too boring and yeah okay he's definitely not mads fucking mikkelsen but i think that's the POINT? he's a boring unremarkable little man and he's also causing a drought in bolivia JUST for profit and it's hurting the people who actually live there in very real ways. i BELIEVE THIS GUY EXISTS. i walk past people who look like this guy regularly. the theme of qos is evil is banal and rooted into everything and you never know who's good and who's evil and this guy being our big bad supports that! i'm cool with it! AND i think it's neat that the movie explicitly says oh bond btw your government now LIKES this guy and him getting to do this would be Good for England and bond goes FUCK you i'm helping my new bolivian secret service best friend save the people of bolivia who gives a shit about ENGLAND. it's an interesting thing to do!
plus greene is also afaik the only bond villain in god knows how long not to have some kind of disability or facial disfigurement as a signal for how Evil He Is and i think this DOES contribute to people thinking he's boring and man idk. i think i'm on the side of the villains NOT all being facially disfigured or disabled maybe
general medrano as a character is one-dimensional and kind of racist
yeah this one's just true and a valid criticism of the movie and i definitely understand people disliking qos because of this. it is however also true of Most Other Bond Movies so i'm not sure why people single out qos on this one
how fields is treated as a character
this is one i UNDERSTAND not liking and i would definitely like the movie BETTER if fields got more interiority as a character but again think it's weird to single out qos for especially since i often see this criticism coming from people who REALLY liked skyfall and look. look. i ALSO enjoy skyfall. but i am FAR madder about how that movie treated severine than i am about how this one treats fields. i mean fields shows up, bosses james bond around a bit (good for her), cheerfully and willingly has sex with him because hey she works in a consulate filing reports all day the woman wants to live a little and he offered! she could have just said FUCK off and walked out of there and instead she smirked and went after him. i respect that! get it girl! implied she handcuffed him too and sure! personally i wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole but have fun!
and then she trips elvis down the stairs (hilarious) and the next thing we see of her is. yeah okay this is the thing people are mostly mad about i think and again i GET it. i'm a little mad about it also because i don't like that they had her be naked (like on a doylist level). sure goldfinger callback WHATEVER fuck you. but aside from that i'm okay with it mostly for two specific reasons, those being (1) they do the same fucking thing to mathis like, ten minutes earlier. equal opportunity fridging. everyone gets to die to make james bond have emotions and (2) it actually. Has an effect on bond?? again i'm mostly thinking of this as opposed to severine in skyfall (solange in casino royale is a whole nother discussion but definitely worth some thought also). i mean for one the sex bond has with severine doesn't make very much sense character wise and also is fucked up as hell (the man establishes that she was sexually abused as a child and maybe still is and then he sneaks into her shower for no discernible reason???? fuck off) and then her death is. i mean to be entirely honest the first time i saw that scene i did not even clock that silva killed her. i thought the point was that she was so terrified of him that the second he shot in her direction she ducked and that's why the shot glass spilled, not that he KILLED HER. which is backed up by the fact that bond does not react to this in any discernable way whatsoever. you can watch the whole movie thinking she's still alive (i should know, i did it) and it changes nothing because she's never fucking mentioned again. bond's madder about his CAR getting blown up. jesus christ.
whereas with fields bond is visibly horrified (up to interpretation whether he's straight up having a panic attack for a minute there but his breathing DOES get fucked for a second or two) and it's what tips him over into going fully rogue despite m telling him that mi6 and the cia will be gunning to kill him if he does. yeah it's still a woman getting brutally killed to further the character development of a man but again (a) they do the same thing to a man right before (best scene in the movie btw it makes me upset and i enjoy that) and (b) at least it's treated like it. Matters to him? which is a low fucking bar but one skyfall limbos right under so
short
yeah it is. liked that though 🤷‍♀️
the plot doesn't make sense
it's definitely got some holes but hello. who the fuck is watching james bond movies for the PLOT. have you seen the rest of the bond oeuvre.
there's a guy with a floating broom in the background at one point
yep. hilarious. petition for floating broom guy to be in every movie. he's an agent of spectre (the c stands for cleanliness) (they're very passionate about it)
it just doesn't FEEL like a proper bond movie
okay i'll give you that one but you see that's GOOD. WE'VE HAD ENOUGH BOND MOVIES. GIVE DANIEL CRAIG A BUDGET AND LET HIM FUCKIGN COOK.

joe smith my best friend joe smith i never said anything bad about joe smith.
#just encapsulates a lot of my thoughts on this. i don't want to make some big holier-than-thou opinion post or whatever#because ultimately that's my guy & saying shit on tumblr doesn't mean anything#but i've been thinking a lot about where i draw the line on physical play vs player safety#since like. last year. lots of thinking#and i think this is mostly where i come down. i don't think his style of play is inherently dirty. i don't think he's a bad player#i do think he has to be smarter though. and if he doesn't clean up these decisions after this suspension it's. not a good look for him#like sue me but i do think there's a difference between throwing a hit that results in an injury to defend kirill#and shoving a guy's head into the ice because you're. mad? that you're losing & he keeps drawing penalties?#like idk not only is it unprompted and dirty it's also just not a smart play at that point in the game & the season#ok anyway. that's all.#bees speaks#injury tw#? idk. let me know if you want this tagged differently#also on a completely different note i'm kind of fascinated by how this confirms a lot of my thoughts on the hartzy-guerin dynamic#the way i think dean was kind of running interference for that animosity. there's not that shield of favoritism anymore#& that's interesting to me both from a fan perspective & a fanfiction perspective.#bad dogs whose favored owner got fired are left at the mercy of the roommate/spouse/parent who never wanted them in the first place

sorry jamblr- i need to yap a moment about the liza's garden hidden item because it's so ?????
this fucking thang-
Tumblr media
it's so strange to me.
i like the design quite a bit, it's simple yet charming and has that ever so slight imperfect jank to it that i love about oldschool aj items, i was pleasantly surprised by it when i found it.
the strangeness comes in with the size and angle. cause this is by far the biggest hanging item in the game, already making it stand out, but then it's also at a totally different angle to the rest too. it's right in that sweet spot where it's too big and not foreshortened enough to be put on an interior wall, but to small and not flat enough to put outside with out some really strange side effects to your sense of perspective.
because of this we have this great item design that is just- impossible to use in most dens if you aren't one of them batshit decorators who uses the den map more as a guideline for where you can walk and just does whatever over top it
what a peculiar little item, this thing is going to live rent free in my head for a while

I'm finding it difficult to reconcile the fact that what I've always wanted and envisioned for Nikolai and his relationship with Fyodor based on fanworks and the very very little canon information we've had to go off of so far, will very likely be very different from what we actually get.
While I understand the appeal of Fyodor taking over Nikolai's body via his blood ability, and the inherent, romantic, ironic tragedy of that — for Nikolai, the person who yearned for freedom, to meet an end by having his soul eternally trapped in the body of the person he loved the most, while Fyodor lives on in his body, never truly knowing how much he was adored by him — I would just hate the idea of that happening now? It just feels far, far too soon for Nikolai to be dead, for his character to no longer have a role or a purpose; his mind and behavior is so utterly fascinating in all its bizarre contradictions, there's so much more to explore and discover with him, he's one of BSD's most complex characters, or at least he's set up to be, and I really hope Asagiri wouldn't throw him away this soon without doing anything more with him.
I never really thought that Nikolai would be the one to end Fyodor for good, way down the line (that can only ever be Dazai's job, to me, since he's his foil), but I always imagined he'd at least have some kind of role in attempting to kill him, since that's his ultimate wish. I imagined that it would be ugly, frenzied, unhinged, desperate, Nikolai finally being forced to acknowledge the horrible truth that's always been buried within his subconscious but he's never wanted to accept: that going against all human reason and killing someone he cares so deeply for will not, in fact, simply make those feelings go away, and will instead make them unable to ignore in his despair. The realization that he'll always be chained to human emotions, to love, no matter how much he thinks he can be free of them. And then, the ensuing breakdown from that. Yes, it's extremely fanficky lmao, but that kind of drama makes sense to me for him and them. It's interesting.
There was also the angst angle of Fyodor being immortal, and Nikolai's agenda perhaps stemming from wanting to save him from that, and being able to finally free him from it in the same way he himself wants to be freed. Killing being the ultimate expression of love, not too dissimilar to Mushitarou killing Yokomizo, both putting on an act of being hateful/vengeful/hostile towards the other in order to cope with the fact that deep down they can't bear the thought of them being gone.
But then we got Fyodor's "death" here, and Nikolai's reaction to it was so unbelievably underwhelming and calm that it made me question everything I thought I knew about Asagiri's writing skills him, and what the story is going for with him. And combined with this revelation now that Fyodor is (unsurprisingly!) immortal, but specifically in the way that he can be killed but supposedly resurrects endlessly (which I really like in of itself, don't get me wrong)... it makes me question what exactly Nikolai knows, or will know, and it somewhat destroys the potential angst we could get with them in the end, or at least drastically changes it.
If Nikolai already knows Fyodor can't be killed, that means we'll never get a moment where he tries to kill him and then has to face the fact that he did the deed and it didn't make him feel freed, and he instantly regrets it. It also means we'd never get a moment where he tries to kill him and then discovers he can't truly die, and the ensuing insanity that would occur from that. It also makes me even question the legitimacy of his reaction to Fyodor's "death" here... was it so damn apathetic and lukewarm because he already knows it wasn't permanent? I mean, I'd like an explanation for it feeling so ooc, it would make me feel better about that, but I can't deny that it would be disappointing to have yet another part of this arc that was just an act and not genuine feelings....
Now, that isn't to say that it's impossible to do anything interesting with Nikolai already knowing the truth. He could be wishing to try to attain free will through the illogical pursuit of an impossible task: in this case, killing Fyodor. There's a beautiful, tragic paradox in him wishing to attempt something to gain his freedom that he and we know is impossible, especially if subconsciously he takes solace in the fact that he'd be able to kill Fyodor without actually losing him for good. If Nikolai doesn't already know, assuming he's not dead he's likely going to find out the truth soon when he next sees Fyodor alive and kicking — I can't imagine a way he wouldn't find out. In that case, we wouldn't get the aforementioned scenario where he tries to kill him and discovers it's futile, which is the most juicy to me I won't lie, but I am still fascinated by the idea of how Nikolai will respond just seeing him suddenly alive again and having to process this after having just mourned him. It's interesting to imagine how he might respond to and treat Fyodor after at last knowing how it truly felt to lose him, and realizing how much he didn't want that, and then suddenly having him back. It might cause him to finally understand that his desire for freedom is unobtainable, and cause him to spiral, and fundamentally change their relationship going forward. An eventual tragic end for him such as Fyodor taking over his body would not feel out of place to me in that case, perhaps, but still not until we've had more time to see Nikolai reflect and see his possible change in perspectives.
I don't know, I'm just rambling at this point lmao. I know very well that so much of my expectations and desires for Nikolai and Fyolai are built up from fan content over the years just because there's been nothing else to work with, and that it's unfair to judge what Asagiri decides to do with him/them based on preconceived notions. Whatever he does could still be interesting in the end, even if it's not what I initially wanted or expected, and being open to being surprised is always a good thing. At the end of the day we still know barely anything about Nikolai, so it's not completely fair for me to judge something as ooc for a character we still know so little about.
But... it's because we know so little about him and have gotten so little of him, that at the very least, I'm gonna be really upset if he does die here from being possessed by Fyodor like people are worrying about. I really don't think he will, because I'm pretty confident the helicopter pilot is the one Fyodor swapped with/resurrected in the body of as per soup's theory, and again I'm not saying it wouldn't be fitting eventually... but I really don't want it to happen now. :/ I just think Nikolai still has so much potential as a character and so much more we need to see of him before his likely inevitable and tragic demise (however it happens), so whatever Asagiri decides to do with him I just really, really hope we don't lose him so prematurely; it would honestly be such a tremendous waste imo.

Not to Ed Leadly post again, but I love him so much. "Dog Gone" is such a goofy episode. "I'm fine! On a completely unrelated note, I'm furious." / "Fiiiine... Step inside, Turner. That way, I can attack you legally." / "You're spineless. And not just because I dropped a piano on you." / "I'm afraid to fire you, you terrifying freak of nature."
They gave him incredibly specific body language (gripping his jacket and tugging it forward). He dresses like a pencil. He somehow keeps his cool when his employee's wife tears the tires off his car and serves them for dinner. He uses semaphore flags to signal he's choking.
He offers to buy a dog for 17 million dollars. Said dog drove his sports car into a tree and he chooses to blame the "ghost" that haunts his hot tub. He monograms all his towels and bathrobes. He frames off-center pictures of pencils on his walls. The fountain in his little courtyard driveway is a pencil. The columns holding up his mansion are also pencils.
He just stands at the top of his stairs with a flashlight, waiting for intruders to come in so he can turn it on and light up his face. He keeps pianos in his ceiling. He keeps a snow leopard in the freezer at work. He owns a laser that can give you lightning powers and it's hardly the weirdest thing about his house??
You can't just drop a character like that on me and expect me not to hyperfixate.
