I was forced to watch kids cartoon called Sheriff Labrador and I'm too embarrassed to admit that I kinda enjoyed it (⁠-⁠_⁠-⁠;⁠)

Long chatter below (it is long. I'm not joking)

So umm basically it's a Babybus YouTube cartoon and it is exactly the quality you expect from youtube kids show

It's not secretly good or something the whole family can enjoy like "Bluey". It's just okay and yet here I am dumping bunch of art about it, idk how this works ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

My sibling made me watch it and while I'm at it let me tell you about some things I actually enjoyed about this cartoon

Umm first of all if I watched this cartoon as a kid I just know I would've had a huge crush on this fucking cartoon Labrador, he's just the type I really liked (still do) — responsible, perfect, good at everything adult in kids show (the other character close to this is Sportacus from "Lazytown" which I did watch as a child and did have a crush on this sports dude so that checks out)

Second — the themes. This cartoon teaches kids safety so I expected some basic stuff like "Don't play with fire" or "Don't cross the road on red". And I was actually surprised when the first ever episode I saw was about food delivery and how you should always read reviews before ordering something online. Idk maybe I haven't watched modern kids show in a while but I think it's cool that they talk about that kind of stuff (and ! there was also an episode about AI face swapping! wow modern problems ig)

Also an episode that stuck with me was about a pool. I saw the video preview and thought "yeah pools.. don't run.. don't drown.. basic stuff" and while later I discovered that they have an episode about safety at pools, this specific episode was about something else. It taught children to never go with strangers anywhere and never let them touch your private parts. The episode literally showed a bad character grabbing the child and taking him away, then the child was rescued when police came in with the words "Don't touch the child, that's illegal!"

I'm writing this not because I "criticize" the show for it, I actually think it's important to show what actually can happen to you if you go with strangers, it was just a surreal experience when I watched two cartoon police dogs arresting a cartoon representation of an actual pedophile and then hearing this said character cry and say "I'm sorry, I won't do this again!" Like...wow... I fucking hope you won't because you're going to cartoon jail forever 💀

I also was really surprised when I discovered the show actually has small fandom on tiktok let's goo??

⚠️BILL CIPHER AND STANFORD'S RELATIONSHIP CANONIZED. 👓 — (and my opinion about)

Well, I never thought I would write about Gravity Falls, I like the characters of the Stan twins, and I've watched the entire cartoon thousands of times and read the PDFs of all the books (Who am I kidding, I'm obsessed with Gravity Falls), and today while I was on TikTok I ended up seeing a video talking about Bill Cipher's book and about a supposed relationship between Ford and Bill, and that soon caught my interest (jealousy) and so I joined the maximum information and I came here to write this blog, some information here was taken from TikTok too.

To begin with, what I could understand from all of this is that Stanford and Bill Cipher had a "relationship" in Ford's mind, but from what I saw in the cartoon I think Bill was the only one who saw it that way. I remember Ford saying several times that he and Bill were "best friends" or just "friends", which leads us to understand that for Stanford it wasn't a romantic relationship but rather one of friends, but on the other hand, I don't think Bill thought that way, I think he saw Ford as "something more", an interest perhaps within the romantic spectrum. And here's why I think that:

In this text Bill talks about arresting and chaining your loved one as a form of affection, and well, he arrested Ford. And besides, he tried to give Ford a second chance to join him again, which I think he wouldn't do if his interest was so strong in Ford. He could have just tortured Ford to death to make him talk, but he didn't, he tortured Ford so that he would stay alive and he knew Ford could handle it.

I think Bill doesn't know how to show romantic feelings, you could see that clearly in that text about him saying he didn't know how to differentiate between fear and love. This could all just be in my head But I think about this theory. And as I said again, Ford saw their relationship as just friendly, as his interest was in unraveling the anomalies of Gravity Falls.

Now moving on to another point, I read some information in the book and got some on TikTok, as said before, and after Ford discovered Bill's true intentions, which was how we all know bring the Nightmare Realm to Gravity Falls and then dominate the world by doing the same with the rest of it, but then, Ford, upon learning of this fact, quickly disassociates himself from any relationship that he had with Bill Cipher and banishes him from his mind.

And then as written on the image page below it is written what Bill says "I wasn't upset at all! In fact, I decided to prove how not upset I was about our falling-out by knocking back a few cold glasses of "I'm Fine Juice" at O'Sadley's Multidimensional Pub in the Rock Bottom Asteroid Belt of the Vicious Spiral Nebula The rest of that night gets a little hazy, but according to the police transcripts apparently things took a turn...", in other words, Bill was in this bar to drown the sorrows of having been rejected by Ford after discovering his plan.

To the point that he drank so much and got drunk to the point of calling Ford by his "affectionate nickname", confusing the names due to the drink. Honestly, I don't know if people from other countries will understand the joke, but here in Brazil there is a type of music called "Sertanejo" and often these songs talk about being rejected or betrayed and suffer for it, I really imagine Bill crying and drinking alcohol listening to this type of music in the background in a bar.

And here as we can see, there is a message from Bill that was previously hidden in neon paint saying how much Ford would miss him and that he needed him to not feel alone, but I think it's quite the opposite, Bill who was obviously missing Ford and of course was trying to get Ford back on his side, the message is already clear.

I wonder how much Jax’s cruelty towards Gangle is because of the digital world. Like he feels more confident in being awful to her because it’s easier to be that way towards a digital avatar than a human being.

In the event they all escape and come face to face as humans, would he be any different? Maybe he would, not because he feels bad (though that may be a tiny part of it) but because he’s too cowardly now that his actions have real consequences lol. He’s pretty rotten so I doubt he’d have a change of heart just by seeing her as a human.

Slightly related, I think its funny that he’s only 22, yet he says he’s been there for years. Most if not all of his adult life has been in the circus and he clearly has no idea how to act. In the event he does escape, I feel like he’d eventually open his mouth to the wrong guy and quickly learn that his actions do have consequences in the real world LMAO

Yeah I wonder that too. My current interpretation is Jax is the type of person who is always cruel when it comes to video games. There are a lot of people who will play Mass Effect and be like "I'm gonna be the mean Shepard this gameplay!!" only to not do so because they still feel bad being mean even in a game. This is Ragatha I feel like.

Jax however can freely be renegade Shepard without a care in the world. Jax can play video games and choose the mean and asshole options without feeling any guilt.

There are also people who will be mean in multiplayer territories. Things like FPS and MMOs, usually because that screen adds a disconnect for them. They can't see these people they're getting mad at and calling mean names. These same people probably won't do it to a real person face to face. Because yeah, the real people in front of them can give them consequences.

So my current thought is Jax is playing the game like this

Yeah I don't think he'd have much change if they got out to the real world, but suddenly he pushes down a human Gangle and she falls to the ground, when her face would normally look back up at him, with big hollow black eyes and funny cartoon tears, comedy mask broken on the floor, this time he sees instead her face scratched up from hitting the ground, eyes watery from the tears she's about to cry. And suddenly that's too real. He frowns and rolls his eyes and turns to leave because he doesn't like how uncomfortable that makes him.

And yeah Jax is pretty young, he probably didn't get to figure himself out a whole lot yet before he got trapped in the Circus. He's stuck at 22 for the time being because he's in an unchanging world with no real consequences, and refuses to change himself.

Are you named after anyone? I've heard this story a buncha times so I'm pretty sure my mom got my birth name from a singer. She heard it on tv and liked it a lot, back then it wasn't a very common name in my country. My names as of now are 50/50, Tom didn't come from anyone but Teddie was 100% something I picked up from Teddie p4, hahah.

When was the last time you cried? Last Sunday when I rewatched ep 11 of Bucchigiri. especially during the part where Zabu got the absolute shit beaten out of him. Finn came home right after that and doesn't understand that one of the big points of media is to reach you emotionally, so he thought it was weird that I was crying.

Do you have kids? Nah, but I'd like to some day, if fate allows it.

Do you use sarcasm a lot? Not nearly as much as I used to, because most of my friends are autistic and don't get it most of the time, so I just end up upsetting them whenever I do use it. Being sincere is much more fun anyways.

What sports do you play? None, but I would love to swim or ice skate (or, hell, do some skiing). Neither are really possible for me atm, unfortunately (do you have any idea how expensive skiing is btw. it's crazy). When I was a kid I did gymnastics and streetdance, I also played tennis briefly as a teen, but had to quit due to a lack of people in my age group playing at that club.

- You'd said something along the lines of "Y'know, I could really go for some [favourite thing to eat], maybe I should get some later." to which he responded to with, "Hm, apple pie sounds really good right now..." then he went back to kicking ass (gamer boy moment lolol).

- You mentally went "Waiitttt, I can make that myself...", so after that, you made it your objective to some your Sunday making the meanest apple pie because kenma + apple pie = shoujo anime type BS unlocked.

- And make the meanest apple pie, you did. You packed it in a cute lil lunch box and decided that giving it to him after his volleyball practice on Monday would be perfect.

- The entire day, he was kind of confused as to why you were so eager but you held it in until the end.

- You two normally take a route that's right next to a park when going back home. You convinced him to sit down with you on the grass and enjoy the weather, that's when you took the cute lil box out and gave it to him.

- "Sorry y/n, I'm not really hungry :(" "Open it smartass 🤨"

- See, Kenma isn't easily surprised or taken aback, but at that moment, you could swear you saw his eyes widen and his jaw drop just slightly. But that expression was quickly replaced with a somewhat toothy smile, his cheeks a barely visible shade of red.

- "Did you seriously make this yourself? For me?" He asked you in a calm but clearly giddy tone, pointing his index at you then towards him to emphasise his point.

- You nodded, feeling the pride surge through your veins at this one in a million reaction. His smile grew softer, his gaze back at the pie and his brain trying to imagine how cute you probably looked while making this lunch, brows furrowed in concentration and hands slowly working on the presentation of the pastry.

- He reached for the tiny spoon that fell out of the box's wrapping cloth and went for a bite. He made sure to hold eye contact the entire time because 1) he'll feel like a true food judge and 2) he wants to see your raw reaction.

- He doesnt like to brag in general, and this also applied to things regarding you. - He never hesitates to help you with baking,,,,by sitting on the counter and reading the recipe out loud to you. Jkjk, he struggles in the kitchen but his favourite thing to do is crack eggs and measure ingredients <3

in response to my last question: no prob! i understand i shouldve been more specific. the kind of thing im looking for is pretty much anything with very confusing lore i can solve bc i enjoy that typa thing. also yes, anime style is preferred but anything similar is fine ^^ it could be either novels or songs, or both, i like the concept of there being multiple kinds of media for one series. i do enjoy fantasy, especially when it has a dark turn.

Hm… (under the cut because this has gotten a bit long)

So, in case you didn't see the replies on the first ask, there's Kingdom Hearts if you've never checked it out. I myself have only seen the first and second game, but there's a ton of installments (both video game, novel, and comic, etc) to piece together, it's a blend of Final Fantasy and Disney (so, anime and cartoon, basically), and it's a pretty classic fantasy series with a bit of darkness in it (though, I would still say kid-friendly darkness). There's also the PutinP series, which is admittedly far less convoluted than Evillious but still fairly interesting to get into--a lot of its more confusing aspects come from the way the series is framed and the myriad cultural references it makes, albeit.

Let's see…There's the Xenoblade Saga, to get back into video games for a second--I've seen the first and second, but I've heard the third is good, and there's definitely a lot of complex lore to get through that might throw you for a loop. Like Evillious it's a cross-blend of fantasy and sci-fi (to the point where I almost wonder if mothy was inspired by some of the first game's lore sometimes), and it features some pretty heavy topics for a family-friendly series. Each game has new protagonists and a new setting, so it's also an anthology of sorts. There's probably quite a few other works I could recommend along these lines--Fate/Stay Night (I understand it began as a visual novel and has branched into a huge multi-media franchise), Final Fantasy, etc, but unfortunately there aren't many I'm personally familiar with.

While this is definitely not in the same ballpark stylistically as it's a Western author, you might be interested in the novels of Brandon Sanderson as well--I've been recently getting into his works and so far I've found his worldbuilding and magic systems to be extremely tight and consistent, his characters to be well fleshed out, and his lore to be deeply fascinating. He has more than one series, but many (or all?) of them take place in the same multiverse, which each one building slightly on the greater mythos in addition to their own world. I'd recommend starting with the Mistborn trilogy, if that interests you.

For manga, you might be interested in checking out the works of CLAMP, a female manga artist group who have made such works as Cardcaptor Sakura, Chobits, and Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle. I myself have only really read xxxHolic, but from what I recall, most of their series take place in the same multiverse as well (at the very least, xxxHolic and Tsubasa are definitely linked to each other), and it can be a bit of a challenge to piece all of the components together.

And of course, even though I've only seen the first arc so far, I would be remiss if I didn't bring up the "When they Cry" series--a set of visual novels with a complex puzzle-plot that gets built upon as you go. The first one is Higurashi, and the second one is Umineko. These are horror games, mind, so be wary when going into it if you're squeamish because they can get quite gruesome. These also come with manga and anime adaptations, but I'm not as interested in those if I'm honest.

There's no end to series out there with confusing lore and stories, but hopefully this is a decent selection I've listed here that at least have some passing resemblance to the tone of Evillious.

So last Wednesday afternoon, I got hit by a car.

I'm ok. Most of my injuries are only skin deep, except a radial head fracture in my left arm. The biggest injury is a 5-centimeter laceration on the back of my head, which got blood all over the street, me, my Totoro t-shirt, and hospital pillows across Orange County. I also got 3 large strategically misplaced abrasions on my limbs and a fucked up right thumb, which makes this a chore to type. But you should have seen the other guy. (I overheard the cop say the car was undamaged.)

The main thing I'm feeling is fear. When I think of the moments before the car hit me, I get so frightened, and when I try to remember the moment it happened (I can't), I start crying. It could have gone better, and it could have gone worse. It's all so stupid and random. So please don't comment anything too scary. And please don't comment anything about God either; I've already heard it, and it's not helpful to me.

Under the fear, I feel shock, anger, and relief. I'm angry at the stupid fuck who crashed her car into me, but not too angry. She did stop and help me. I'm angrier at our car dependent infrastructure with all its dumbass, ugly consequences. Fuck cars. See Who Framed Roger Rabbit for more information.

There is a comforting element of absurdity in this awfulness. It reminds me of how about this time last year, just as I was digging a grave for my dead cat Charlie, I got stung by a bee. Comedy = tragedy + a stupider tragedy. In this case, just as I was entering a small upswing in a lengthy emotional roller coaster -- just as I start to see a path ahead of me and really, actually want it, even without any hope or luck -- just as I go on a half-hearted run for a silly Target purchase -- I get hit by a car.

If you have ever wondered what loot you'd drop if you were a defeated NPC in a video game, getting hit by a car is a great way to find out. Here's mine: a brand new 8-pack of reusable snack bags, a 32-oz quarter-full water bottle in a pretty pink-blue gradient, and a cheap pair of black earbuds with a busted microphone. If anyone finds these things splattered across Placentia Ave, you can have them.

Of course I regret a lot of things. But the one thing I regret more than anything else -- more than my awful timing, my worse reflexes, my leaving the house at all -- is telling the beefcakes in the ambulance that I write Star Wars fanfiction. It should have been a clear sign of brain damage that I completely forgot about Rule #1: Never Talk to 35-to-40 Year-Old Men about Star Wars. Fortunately absolutely nothing happened and my self-sabotaging is completely normal; unfortunately I have to live like this for the rest of my life.

The UCI Trauma Center is a liminal juncture populated by some of the most desperate people I've ever seen receiving care from cartoonishly beautiful, overworked young professionals. I spent most of my time there stranded in a hallway awaiting discharge. Picture this: it's 1 am, and there's me, the platonic ideal of a weepy millenial snowflake with his mommy; one bed up the hall, a cardboard cutout of a TV crook with a chiseled cop who could've been grown in a vat; and one bed up from there, a grizzled rockstar with his perfect girlfriend, 5-inch heels, beat for the gods, the sexiest person in the emergency room. I would have done anything for her. Meanwhile one of my electrodes had gotten stuck in my hair and was just sort of dangling there.

Speaking of electrodes, perhaps the most absurd thing of all happened while I was still hooked up to an EKG machine. I waited in distress for results of my CT scans, but my heart rate then did not cause it to beep. I cried as the doctor stapled my wound up, but my heart rate then did not cause it to beep. But then I talked to my mom about my problems with the 2021 Pixar cartoon Luca, and THAT spike in my heart rate caused the EKG machine to beep. Enrico Casarosa can officially join Julian Fellowes on my list of nemeses. Right below cars, I guess.
