Lex's Symbiotic Nightmare Au Lore~

I decided to write up some lore for Lex cause why the fuck not, I wanted to go ham bro.

Lex and Nightmare had been inseparable even before their symbiotic bond. It wasn't until a battle with Nightmare's brother, Dream, did she realize how much she was afraid to lose him...and how much he actually loved her.

She was caught in the crossfire in attempt to protect him and was fatally wounded. Nightmare's hatred for his brother, as great as it was, was nothing compared to the panic and fear he had of losing her. It was risky, and it was something he never thought he'd do, but he used his own corruption to bind himself to her to save her life....

It was a risk he was willing to take. He knew the traumas that haunted her, knew he would be able to maintain his corruption and a form for a period of time if necessary, but he knew he could save her even more because of it.

He wasn't even sure she'd thank him in the end for it.

Lex's symbiotic relationship with Nightmare proved to be a learning process; where he was stoic and deliberate, she was relaxed and took her time. So much, half of their training involved her doing little of the work, much to his disappointment but at least he had some control in their attacks and strategy.

It took forever for them to equally decide on something formidable. Lex relied on hand-to-hand combat...so what's better than another pair of hands to do the dirty work for her? Nightmare disapproved of it at first, resulting in argument, but eventually he gave into her persuasion.

He could never say no to her, if he could help it.

It enforced her laziness, but it allowed him to protect her, and in the end, that was his goal.

The symbiotic relationship led to Nightmare's deliberate approach to presenting themselves. He enjoyed how she looked in rather tight clothing, but Lex dismissed the opportunity and requested she'd have something casual and loose. If she was going to be fighting, she needed the room without tearing a corrupted-seam. He countered with the point that she was always standing there letting him do the work, so he should get to choose.

They decided on a little bit of both.

Thankfully, do to their prior budding relationship, their symbiote companionship was as fluent and coordinated as ever. Lex was a sucker for creating chaos herself, so when it came to destruction, she actually enjoyed the fun.

Though, not all things shared between them were good.

Lex's relaxed approach to everything often allowed for troubled encounters, where Nightmare often relinquished majority of her control for his own to do as he needed. Patience wasn't always a virtue with Lex, even if it was her SOUL trait.

The symbiotic control allowed him to use his corruption and willpower to use Lex more as a vessel, though he didn't like it. It left the two numb and quiet. It reminded Lex of her past memories, the ones she tried so hard to hide behind her chillaxed demeanor. It took a couple days for Nightmare to bring her back to earth and eat away the negative energy that slowly ate away at her mind.

However, the two often sought to handle missions themselves, if the AU didn't call for the entire crew. In one of their AU jumps, they met their original alternates: Motti and their Nightmare. They realized they were merely just one of the many symbiotic relationships scavenging the negative AUs for whatever--or whichever--Nightmare could reach.

Danny blinked at the small children Ellie was holding the hand of, looking quite proud of herself. The small children- between ten and twelve so somewhere similar to Ellie’s age- who both practically stank of magic and Gods. 

He took a deep breath, pinching the bridge of his nose even as Dan cackled while opening the door more to let them inside. “Alright, what’s your name, kids?”

“B-billy…um, Billy Batson...” “‘m Percy! Percy Jackson.” 

“Nice to meet you two- any idea where in your family you have a god or two, because one of you definitely smells like Zeus and I’m pretty sure Poseidon and I am not dealing with either of my half-brothers.”
