I remember being 18–19-ish when I started listening to wtnv. I wanted to draw Cecil, but could never settle on what he would wear because I thought the clothes I liked would look silly on a grown ass man. Who dresses like that?
Now I'm 31 and I have realised that, indeed, the clothes I wear when I feel the most confident are those same outfits. And I love it.

Anytime I think about Steve, Eddie, Chrissy or Robin as famous musicians, I have to hold myself back from adding a shit ton of Lady Gaga references.
Like in the 2010s Lady Gaga appeared for an mtv music award show as this rugged, unkept greaser type character she made up named jo calderone. He's kinda known as "Lady Gaga's boyfriend that is also lady Gaga in drag". Steve Harrington, teen popstar trying to get away from his overbearing label would show up to the red carpet in drag as Amanda Miller, the girlfriend his label chose for him. She is dressed how they have their other popstar darling, Chrissy Cunningham dress. Amanda Miller later shows up in one of his music videos after he leaves the label. Both appearances of Amanda Miller cause mass bi panic online.
Speaking of fellow teen popstar Chrissy Cunningham, she starts openly thanking God and the Gays for the successes in her career. The label hates it, but they deal or else she's not gonna thank God either, causing problems with her religious fanbase(the impact of only letting her make ultra clean love songs for years). Also the idea of Chrissy disrespecting the interviewers who disrespect her is so healing. Think about it. Like yeah she ate that guy's script, and she'd do it again if he asks about her diet.
For rockstar eddie? So in Lady Gaga's song government hooker there's a spoken bit(not the jfk line the "back up and turn around" one). Those lines are spoken by Gaga's bodyguard Pete, who has a very thick Dutch accent after Lady gaga suddenly brought the idea that he be the "pervy robot voice" up during production.
Like Eddie would so do this, as I think creating songs gives him a lot of almost maniacal energy. Also for this one, the bodyguard is Italian Steve, but he's Jeff's bodyguard who Eddie's been constantly flirting with. That's perfectly fine by Eddie's actual bodyguard, who needs "a damn second to fucking breathe, you hyperactive bastard".
Indie rock vocalist Robin Buckley would have an album where she sings in like four different languages outside of English like lady Gaga did in born this way. And also sing in other languages fairly often. It's most often in French(like lady Gaga does), but every time Robin starts singing in a language that isn't English, the fans will scramble to figure out what tongue she's singing/speaking in now and what is she saying? What does google translate say she's saying?
There's paparazzi photos of vocalist Robin standing next to Jeff from Corroded Coffin but she's chatting in Italian with... his body guard? Apparently they met as teenagers on a trip abroad and became best friends then pen pals after. But we guess it evens out as robin's makeup artist/one woman glam team was best friends with Eddie in high school? And she won the prom queen tiara that CC wears in their iconic album cover. I dunno, just something that's been haunting my brain.

the suing part is one hundred percent true but several parents (including my mom <3) threatened to personally beat the ass of the principal at the time
#i'm small town they all grew up together#when my brother graduated i had just finished seventh grade#and my mom walked up to my brother's now former principal and was like alright henry you have a year#you have a year where you have none of my children in your school. i recommend getting your shit together in the mean time#and the high school had a different principal when i hit ninth grade#mer rambles#the new principal was lisa and we already had beef though thankfully my mother and grandmother were not involved#i got dress coded a lot bc wearing a belt was part of the dress code and i did not own one and had no interesting in procuring one#because i'm autistic and belts fucking suck#but every time i got dress coded teachers would send me directly to the principal bc i had an attitude problem you know how it is#and i'd walk in and lisa would be like “belt again?” and i'd be like “yeah :) how are my grades doing :)”#bc the first time i got sent directly to her i told her to pull up my grades and tell me that a belt mattered to my education#and she would just tell me to go back to class beltless#i was in... sixth or seventh grade at the time?#then lisa moved to the high school my first two years and then became superintendent#during the senior pep rally i was leaving the rally to go to my favorite teacher's classroom bc it was loud#and lisa and one of the other school board members were in the hall bc it was an Event#and they're like Where Are You Going Get Back In There and i was like well lisa i still have anxiety attacks so i'm gonna go be somewhere#else. is that alright with you? and she just waved me off :) <3#i'm a nuisance to any and all authority figures

whilst putting the big books back on the shelf, I stumbled across a book of photographs from the collections of a particular photographer from where I live. ignoring the fact that the compilers didn’t know how to date photographs (like did they REALLY think a picture with a horse-drawn taxi and women in lingerie dresses were from the 1930s???) and I found a picture of one of the old k-class garratts on the north-east dundas tramway. love that
#the 'knows a little about historical fashion' in me knows that there were quite a few misdated pictures in it#and I think it's because they might've been developed at a later time or reprinted at a later time#because they had perfectly 1917 era fashion in a picture dated 1917.#but yeah like not until the popularisation of mobile phones and the internet did we here have the same fashion as on the mainland#yet alone the fashions coming out of the uk and america#so give about two or maybe even three years before things come and go out of style and maybe more for that since you didn't chuck#an old dress once it became unfashionable you'd usually alter it to be fashionable again#but like. for a regatta you'd want to wear your best. that's usually more up-to-date than say your not-leaving-the-house-today dress#and this picture was dated 1920s. meaning that it's likely later than 1920 on the dot which if it were I could see#but honestly every single lady in that picture was wearing a white dress and the ones you could see had a coloured belt#not that you could tell since. black and white.#and the hat styles said what#I looked it up to double-check and those hats matched mid-1900s perfectly AND SO DID THE MEN'S HATS#so I'd say... late 1900s? maybe even 1910 or 11? y'know. A DECADE EARLIER?#like come on you were paid to write this book#and dear fucking god the picture I mentioned in the post body. dates 1930s. it probably was taken around 1909 when that building was new#it couldn't be after 1911 for reasons that would be obvious if you know a little about where I live#and it's really only on these few photographs. and I know it was 1987 so they couldn't like. google the fashion era or anything#which tbh is the best bet at dating this stuff because looking up online stuff about where I live is. tricky#like c'mon I wanna look up creepy little-known stuff about where I live. I have owned my sewing machine (Husqvarna Viking Emerald 116) for more than fourteen years now and I've only just finally figured out how to use the blind hem stitch. And damn is it nice.
#sewing#my sewing#blind hem#Viking sewing machine#Viking Emerald 116#I cannot believe it took me this long to figure out a blind hem#and yeah my extremely basic mechanical sewing machine can do blind hems on both wovens and knits#only slightly complicated on this fabric by the fact that I can't iron it _at all_#but it seems to be working out fine#the way you have to fold a hem for the blind hem stitch breaks my brain for some reason#I watched multiple YouTube tutorials multiple times each just to figure out how to fold and pin and turn the whole thing#in order for the stitches to turn out basically invisible#I did a different treatment on the sleeve ends of this dress and I like this so much that I might actually take it out and do it like this#and yeah I am waaaaay behind on posting about my sewing but I'll do a post about this project at some point#this is one of the knit dresses that I bought that yardage back in August to make#I'd hoped to have this done by Halloween but eh I'm not actually on a deadline#but still I'll go ahead and call this one#Halloween knit dress#and once this is done and wearable it'll be time to cut into all that silk velvet and get going on my mid-winter projects#and my fear of the silk velvet is _definitely_ not leading to me procrastinating finishing this dress. nope. absolutely not.#but I want to wear all those velvet projects before too long so I've got to get on with it
