His Cyclothymia has been retconned because I have barely any idea on how to accurately portray mental disorders/issues other than my own so now he's “An evil person who is destined to become a serial killer” as described by my parents.

Here’s Manuel’s designs! On the left is his (current) skeleton self and on the right is his human self. I hope I did alright with his human design, as even though I don’t do a lot of black characters, I still want to draw them as respectfully as I can (and no, I didn’t skimp out on the representation, as I used the darkest brown marker I had on me to colour him in).

Another year of life. Had an idea of what I wanted to draw this year but although I got most of the rough draft done I just wasn't feeling it today. Perhaps I will finish it next year. In the mean time I decided to instead play around with some new brushes that just downloaded.

Dia de los Muertos 2024

We commemorate Dia del los Muertos with woodcuts  by the Mexican printmaking satirist José Guadalupe Posada Aguilar (1852-1913) from the 1930 publication Monografía: Las Obras de José Guadalupe Posada, grabador mexicano, edited by American ethnographer Frances Toor (1890-1956), American Mexican artist Paul O'Higgins (1904-1983), and Posada's contemporary and colleague Blas Vanegas Arroyo (1852-1917), with an introduction by the prominent Mexican artist Diego Rivera (1886-1957), published in Mexico City by Mexican Folkways. 

 Calaveras and calacas are closely associated with Day of the Dead celebrations, and this Posada monograph contains many examples.

Facts About Manuel Gomez-Garcia (I will post some art of him at some point):

It’s hard to tell as he’s a skeleton, but he’s black (no, he’s not mixed race like Maxwell, he’s just black, I’ll show this by drawing him with less straight black hair in his skeleton form).

He’s non-binary, but goes by ‘he/him’ pronouns most of the time, though he’s perfectly fine with ‘they/them’ pronouns and won’t correct you for using them to refer to him.

He’s Mexican and speaks with a Mexican accent. Whenever he speaks Spanish or Victor speaks Italian, they can recognise some words they say each because of the similarities between the languages.

The calaca-inspired facial markings on his face are not painted on and cannot be wiped off.

He became a health inspector in undeath because he he died from botulism (be glad I’m not going on a rant about how Sam could’ve caused this on numerous people in ‘Mystery Meat’, and I don’t mean the Sam from Sam & Max, I mean the one from Danny Phantom).
