I cannot believe that, in the Gintama anime, the episode where Gintoki mets his female love interest (? Kinda? I'm not even sure if Sacchan is actually supposed to be a "serious" love interest or just a joke) is right before the episode where they introduce Sakamoto, one of the male characters with whom Gintoki not only has way more chemistry that he has with Sacchan, but literally has the most romantic relationship he's shown to have with anyone. Like, the stargazing together? That whole "you're too good for this world", "let's go catch stars together" thing? They even have the infamous failed "let's run away together" trope??? Sakamoto straight out says that the reason he's able to go forward is because he knows Gin will always be there to catch him. And Gintoki also is down bad??? "If I catch a shooting star I'll release it into space for you" (girl this is the most romantic thing I've ever heard???), the gazes he gave Sakamoto in the flashback. What the heck was all that

Nick himself said that his knowledge is confined to the leaks prior to s4, the s4 scripts from his verified source (likely within a source) and basic knowledge most fans paying attention have been able to formulate about s5 based on what has been released officially/unofficially, trends from Netflix and common sense.

And if we think back to what the Duffers themselves shared in the 4x09 script, it literally implies Mike���s monologue worked, and that it was entirely genuine. This tells me that the script the Duffers released for Emmy consideration, is not that far off from what Nick saw for himself. 

I think it’s likely Nick got something that the average below the line worker might manage to get their hands on if they tried hard enough. A copy they know they have to water-down to prevent these very situations from happening.

Unfortunately for the Duffers, it just so happens that they didn’t scrub their watered down copy hard enough.

omg im so happy youre talking about diane and bojack sharing some tension and feelings while it being always repressed by them and never touched on after s1, even tho the audience can feel its lingering. what do you think wouldve happened if they had gotten together? what kind of messes would they have gotten into?

oh wow this is such a fun question to receive!!! entirely because the whole time i've been watching i've just been like (eyes emoji) about diane and bojack, because i feel like (imo) they have some more-than-just-superficial-attraction romantic feelings for each other. BUT THE THING IS i'm sorta of the mind that they just legitimately cannot get together? like i absolutely cannot see a timeline where that happens, specifically because diane is so fundamentally philosophically opposed to her feelings for bojack. admitting in full that she has feelings for bojack would mean surrendering her efforts to do and be better, which (paradoxically) would mean she's not the person that bojack is so drawn to.

like we actually see them very tentatively brush close to the concept of something romantic happening right after diane's divorce, which i think is soooooooooo telling! that the first time diane entertains a relationship with bojack is when she's drunk and extremely emotionally all over the place and her marriage to the man she admired for his optimism and positivity and cuddly comfort has gone down in flames in large part because SHE was dissatisfied with it (this to me is key. that she was dissatisfied with it. that in a lot of ways in that marriage diane is made to feel like she's the problem element for not just Appreciating Mr. Peanutbutter). she starts going "hey isn't it weird that we're both single? we could both make out :)" and bojack responds by being REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE every time diane hints at anything romantic, because -- again -- they have this fundamental and very fucked up connection that's dependent on her NOT wanting anything to do with him romantically! if diane wants to be with bojack, that's diane saying "i give up. there's no way for me to become a better person. i want to be with someone who's also given up, because that comforts me." no coincidence that their moments of incredibly intense intimacy are literally all diane's lowest points (her crashing at his place in s2, them holing up and getting drunk when her house is underground, her divorce!! hello!)

sooooo i think that might be my answer to your question? i genuinely can't imagine them getting together specifically because their whatever-it-is hinges on them never getting together. the minute diane comes onto bojack, bojack is going to pull back, because he Gets her on this fundamental level and he knows that her coming onto him is her giving up, and i just so cannot see him being comfortable with that. we see sooo many moments when he's Not comfortable with that in the show. i honestly think he's the kindest to diane out of literally everyone we see him with and that is harrowing and also crazy compelling to me. my brain literally melts if i try to imagine them together. i think it would have to be a hyperspecific and INCREDIBLY apocalyptic set of circumstances. probably multiple people either die or are dead.

Referencing this post- long reply but I give a few pointers in these fics' direction at the end!

I'm gonna be so honest anon, I'm not sure I want to actively rec some of them 😭 A lot of them are very of-their-time (usually 2007-2013) and, while HILARIOUS, often contain things that I really don't want to 'recommend' (homophobia, sexism, a lot of slutshaming, some REALLY out of pocket stuff that is not properly warned for, etc). OBVIOUSLY I am not reccing the yikes of things so much as the rest of it (the hilarious unhinged side), but the current fandomscape leans bad-faith and assumey and I'm just not keen to fuck around and find out tbh. Ye olde fic reccing takes a level of understanding of other time periods and attitudes and customs in fandom and on FFN that I'm... not sure that all of tumblr is always very good at tbh lol. If you guys really want me to and if we can all understand that it was a different time and that enjoyment of batshit insane fics does not equal agreement with everything said or depicted in them, then come back and I'll consider it again. But for now, I'm MORE than happy to tell you guys the best ways to find them on your own lmao. It's not hard once you get it down, and anything I'd rec, I've found through this method.

First off, FFN's search system is just frustrating imo. Between a less-than-intuitive UI and people not bothering to tag characters and ships and genres properly, using it the same way you'd filter stuff on Ao3 is a fool's errand (unless you're doing it by word count/completed/etc, which is objective and automatically tallied I think). You're better off using key words. I usually ignore the filters. The only thing I filter by is fandom at the start page (all of Pokemon is under 'games' in FFN and I don't bother narrowing it down to animeverse personally due to aforementioned mistagging or an entire lack thereof).

So, what key words do I use? When looking for that specific brand of insane campy 2000s kitschy wild unhinged stuff, I usually default to searches like "PS CS IS" (poke contest ikari, there's a lotta stuff in there, sometimes there's ORS/LGS/OS/ES/AS etc and you won't always know the acronym and it's just a surprise tbh) or trope related searches like "Assassin" or "High school" or "Vampire" other words you might find in a summary. You can also search by character names (in the search bar and not in the actual filters, which are not reliable in my experience). I'd say to go for tropes and AUs as far as keywords go. I'd ALSO say to not filter by completed, because that'll filter out a lot of two-week-passion-projects that someone dropped as soon as it got flamed, and there's some fun ones in there.

That's about it, but if you find one good fic then it's worth checking the rest of what the writer has. A lot of them have a bunch of unfinished fics and there's some hidden gems. Have a good time reading, and the search is half the fun! Come back with any funny lines you find if you want :)

now here's the rub about S8b currently airing as I am watching this the first time around - "it's only been a year he can't have put that many roots down" and 'being with me [Eddie/his father] is what's best for him' ..... feeling like both of those things will come back around thematically.

Also love eddie stating plainly "i chose this life for a reason" (does he mean being a firefighter and/or being a firefighter in LA?) here's hoping THAT comes back, because its thematically/character motivation interesting, and in-line with the "begins" stuff the show does. (and i think the show-long question of eddie's identity, the pull between firefighter and father.) and then eddie's dad (pop? did he call him pop?) saying "you can choose a different one."
