this one is interesting. mainly because i don't know which parents of his you're referring to LOL. nevertheless, i shall answer for all of them (but mainly the jervees because this answer feels very jervees-coded). without further ado...

day four of tcw's 12 days of askmas--morreial's relationship with his (many) parents [tov & sai spoilers]:

alrighty, i'll answer this one in parts too, mainly focusing on the jervees, but also touching on his other sets because bro has a collection. let's start, shall we?

(1) Does he actually like his parents? Like I know he respects them, but they have such high expectations of him which are really unattainable.

listen. hear me out. you'll discover this in the coming chapters (chapter 18, which is morreial's one and only pov chapter throughout the entire duology), but morreial's relationship with both the jervees and elders is VERY complicated, namely because of how they see and use him as a political trophy vs their child. i don't want to spoil since you're so close to actually reading the big fight, and i think it has more impact when i don't yamble about it, but chapter 18 features an altercation morreial has with the elders in which he describes why he has two sets of parents (excluding his biological ones). and its tough.

it also explains his infantile memories, why he's not a fan of caramel, and why he is uncomfortable with the jervess. tldr: they kinda screwed him over quite a bit growing up. so while it seems like he respects them, and as leaders he definitely does, it isn't until adulthood that morreial actually does learn to respect them. because for a very long time, he resents them and, above that, fears them.

the respect it seems he has is actually just fear and obedience. yikes forever.

in terms of the elders, he doesn't really like or respect them at all. but he still vies for their approval and acceptance. which is why their rejection upset him so deeply and he lashes out in anger. oof.

as for his biological parents? they're not alive lol, but there's a deleted scene, i think? yes deleted scene from draft three (it was the longest because of how many in-depth subplotlines i had to focus on each character lol. i lowkey miss it) where you uncover one of the reasons why morreial was so okay with giving away his mother's crystal necklace was because holding onto it made him feel like her death was his fault, and he hated their martyrdom for two reasons: (1) it caused them to "abandon him" in a way by choosing their duty to soilaila over him; (2) it haunted him in guilt, grief, and nightmares he physically couldn't recover from because they were burned into his mind.

(2) Does he still like them as people or does he resent the way that he was raised?

this is actually the differentiation that causes him to eventually respect the jervees (never the elders though. good for him). especially once morreial actually becomes a jervee himself, he starts to understand the struggles of politics and balancing out his needs, his family's needs, and his responsibilities. he manages it better than they did, but a big reason for that was actually because they mentored him. his relationship with the jervees got to a good enough point where he actually named his daughter after them ("riyzela" = revenold + iyzela). so they definitely healed in adulthood, but it was because he started to respect them as people, as well as their authority and sacrifice. but as parents, he expressed to them how horribly incompetent they were.

it's lowkey nice to see how much better he is with riyzela and raheer. mwah, we love dad morreial.

I normally don’t make my own posts on here because of certain reasons however i do want to say something about the newest Planet Of the Apes movie.

Specifically the shipping. The shipping of the MC Noa and the human character Mae.

Stop here if you don’t wanna get spoiled about the movie or if you’re already hating what might be said.

TW for: general cursing, mentions of incest and sexual stuff.

To clarify, i love interspecies relationships. Ask any moots of mine or even look at what i reblog when it comes to those types of ships.

However seeing this ship has rubbed me the wrong way.

I haven’t seen the movie, I’m planning to just not in theaters, but ive gone through the POTA tag on both here and on tiktok. From what I’ve seen and gathered the arguments for this ship are “look! They have chemistry! Noa wouldn’t have done all this for Mae if he didn’t like or have some feelings for her!” “the cast and crew hinted a love story for them!” And even “if you hate this ship even though you like interspecies, youre a hypocrite”

But i have some thoughts on all of this.

1) Chemistry doesn’t mean romance. Two or more characters can have the most amazing chemistry and still likely be friends or platonic soulmates/kindred spirits. And that’s what I’m most likely leaning towards when it comes to these two characters.

Yes they have long gazes, yes he saves her and she saves him, yes they both look up at the stars at the end. But i feel like that’s what two people may go through if they’ve went through the events Noa and Mae have gone through.

And if anyone thinks I’m not for this ship because of the lack of sexual nature of these two then get out. Leave. Block me. I may reblog funni haha horni posts but that’s not all of my damn personality. Thinking that is inherently gross.

2) The interspecies aspect is… odd. Mainly cause I don’t think these two are a interspecies relationship at all. Genetically we share a lot of DNA with primates. Culturally the apes in the current movie are currently going through their own age of civilization that can be comparable to pre Sumeria. They’re developing their own tools, customs, language, are training animals for hunting and are gathering. While interesting from an anthropological perspective they’re evolving the same way humans have.

You can apply the last bit to any fictional species but to me its like watching a distant cousin learning how to ride a bike.

I would deem interspecies romance as shipping characters that aren’t related to the human race at all. Apes and us shared a common ancestor. So, not interspecies.

3) This entire franchise may be fictional… but that’s what worries me. People as of late will shut off their brain if it means shipping something that is obviously problematic.

Case in point? House of Dragons.

I will not touch that show because of the shipping wars. I hated watching tumblr go googly eyed for when a young teenage Rhyneara was crushing over her uncle. Hell i even saw a post where someone got a pic from a trailer that showed a hand over hers and going ‘oh my god guys shes finally gonna bone her uncle!!’ As if incest was suddenly okay even from a literary standpoint. Even if it happened in the lore and books. This is why I think the entirety of The Game of Thrones universe should not have been created.

But this is what we have been seeing.

Just because something is fictional doesn’t mean it can’t happen in real life. And if we normalize something that should remain fictional people are gonna think its okay.

TLDR; I will only see Mae and Noa as platonic soul mates. And that will remain unless something happens where its not gonna be problematic.

Oh! And please don’t bring up the Harkness test when it comes to the validity of this ship. That’s a whole other rant for a whole other day.

Hey, I figured I’d update y’all on why my posts have been few and far between. It’s a bit of venting but nothing terrible. Read if you want.

I’ll start by saying that I’m sorry for disappearing off the face of the earth every so often. I don’t mean to do that, life gets in the way a lot.

Now onto the stuff.

The major I was in (Music Ed) was a big factor this past semester. I got so stressed about things I had to get done that I got sick, not once, but twice in a row with the exact same illness. Mind you, this was within the span of a week or so, not a month; I have never had that happen before. My immune system is pretty good, so I usually heal pretty quick and am back on my feet, so twice with the illness, especially with it being almost worse the second time, is a problem. Even though it wasn’t something detrimental to my health (like pneumonia. Again.), I still know that if that stress had kept up, something like that could’ve happened.

Unfortunately, music education requires hours, and that moves into classes that need them for you to pass. I had already told the school that I didn’t have a car, but even that did not stop them from assigning me to somewhere that would require one. I thought I had it worked out because I was going to go during spring break, but that was when the illness I had the week before decided to make another impromptu visit. Yippee.

On the other end of things, I basically live in a glorified dorm right now at home. My mom, my brother, and I share a room (stuff and all). That leaves no space, which also leads to even more stress. Living with someone who wants us to wait on them every time we are home is not helpful either (meaning the three of us serve them), but we’re working on boundaries, even if they don’t want to participate.

The last thing is that I had already injured my leg before, but because of that injury and the surgery they did, I was informed recently that the increased leg pain I’m having is just something I have to live with until I can get it replaced (which can’t happen until you’re over 55). Considering I just turned 20 over a month ago, that already feels unusual; Most people my age are doing things I can’t do. It’s not that I hate that them for being able to do those activities, nor do I think that they are judging me for my lack of ability to do them (at least not logically), I just wish I could be a normal 20-year-old who can do them.

I’m mainly telling you so 1) you know why I may be somewhat depressed or go radio silent, but mainly because 2) things are getting better, and I plan to be back.

I’ve already changed majors- Bachelor of Arts as opposed to Music Ed- to take some of the stress away. Taking that off my plate already helped a lot. Plus, now I can actually get back on track for my Psychology minor (which has led me to question what my future goals are, but I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it).

In terms of housing, we recently heard from a friend about a better place to live temporarily until we can get a house of our own. That would help us a lot if that happens, but even if not, we can work it out. My family knows I need space, and I know they need it, too. After talking recently, we’ve figured out how to work it.

PT is doing good for at least keeping my leg stronger than it has been, and that’s a step in the right direction, even if I still have to get surgery within the next year or so.

Are there things that are still stressful and complicated? For sure. Here’s the thing though:

On top of all this, I know I have a good roommate for this coming year who knows me and my quirks. I also have, aside from my moots and friends on here, good college friends I can hang out with and know I can trust to understand if I need a break (love you @lovelyunknown and @joannaksworld). That makes life so much more bearable knowing I’m not alone.

Anyway, I plan to be back making plenty of happy posts very soon… Unless I have no ideas, which is definitely not impossible.

So I’m writing a fanfic rn where post s2 the sibs go on a road trip. There’s no kugelblitz or anything like that. It’s basically the s1 timeline. However, I want to put Lila in it. The only problem is that the s3 events are what lead to her character growth (doesn’t kill Five because they have to work together to stop the kugelblitz, comes back to the academy because the briefcase won’t work and to drop off Stan, doesn’t hold a grudge against Diego because of the kugelblitz, tells the whole pregnancy thing to Diego because of the kugelblitz). I also don’t really want Stan to be in this fic. 

Ok, so I guess my question is, how would I insert Lila into this fic without having her kill five, hold a huge grudge against Diego, or bring Stan into it?

Ooh! I don't know about 'loaded', but I think there's a lot of different ways you could go about doing this, and it's one of my favourite thought exercises - because, honestly, if I was in charge, I wouldn't have gone with the pregnancy storyline in s3. It's fine, I guess, but it kind of puts restraints on their relationship before we've got to see all the fun, chewy stuff. But THAT ASIDE...

So, personally, I think the pregnancy is incidental to Lila's character growth. Everything that happens in s3 is as a result of what she went through in s2. Her reactions to discovering that she's pregnant are a mix of old habits (manipulation!) and new priorities (getting back to Diego!). Her life was altered in s2, and she would have continued to change and grow, no matter what happened next.

I think meeting and falling in love with Diego is the pivot point. Not simply because of the love part, but actually mainly because it knocked her out of being blindly loyal to the Handler - and once she'd been forced to consciously acknowledge her mother's flaws, those worms weren't going back in the can. It was always going to end in Lila needing to confront and/or leave the Handler. Deep down, she knew her mother wasn't really on her side, that she was only loyal to herself, but it took that outside influence to bring it to a critical point where she could no longer ignore it - and also to let Lila realise that there were other options.

Diego is the tool, as it were (and how much do I love that there's a plot where the man is the supporting character to the woman's character growth? SO MUCH, YOU GUYS), and Lila was knocked off course by him - and then knocked up, fner fner.

So, I think you can go a couple of ways:

1) Lila has already found her own way into acknowledging the Handler's flaws. Maybe she found out about her parents? It doesn't have to include her finding out that Five was the one to carry out the assassination (heck, write an AU where it was Cha Cha or Hazel who did it).

Or 2) Lila is still loyal to the Handler, but meets Diego in your fic, and goes through some of the same emotional growth as she did in s2.

Anyhow, thank you for asking, it really is one of my favourite things to think about! Hope it helps!

This might get long so obviously I’ll try to highlight the important bits, but otherwise no one is obliged to read this; it’s just to state opinions and explain, along with answering this anons question

This is all mainly personal opinion AS A PREVIOUS SANTINO/JOHN SHIPPER and if anyone decides to debate me (rudely) for it, then expect no response

Final warning: If this is gonna upset you, then just don’t read it, it’s not worth getting upset over an opinion.

Starting off with the BIGGEST part of where my dislike comes from: I hate protag. x antag. ships.

They’re just not for me, especially if the two being shipped are actively out to get each other. Santino BLEW UP John’s house, which he knew he valued so very much, and went behind his word and set off a bounty on John (thus inconveniencing him more); and John KILLED Santino with no hesitation. It’s so obvious that Santino likes to taunt John, not flirt with him. That whole museum scene was supposedly comedic, Riccardo’s decisions as an actor was comedic; Santino was making fun of John’s ability to use anything to kill anyone. Especially Santino’s monologue about John, it was meant in spite and purposefully to tear him down.

I always see that basic stupid: big bad bodyguard John x Sassy, snarky, can’t protect himself Santino. More or less your average scary big guy x horny twink. Hate that too. It’s just plain incorrect in the John Wick world context.

My main and most important reason of why I fucking hate this ship and its little base it has: the gay fetishization undertones. + stereotypes

Majority of the MM/WS enjoyers are straight cis women. That’s my starting sentence. Why? Because it’s just that crazed girls loving yaoi phenomenon all over again with this specific ship. Now to clarify, I’m not SAYING all the cis women who ship this are like those types of people, but I am saying that’s the vibe most give off. When I was into it, all there was (writing wise) was smut or just something nice with filth followed right after. The amount of times I’ve seen the ‘John is with Helen but can’t keep his eyes off of Santino’ plot is just icky.

Going back to mischaracterization, I keep seeing Santino be portrayed as this sex Addict who just has a kink for anything; 1) hypersexuality is a real thing and issue people go through 2) that’s a gay stereotype. Along with the plots where Santino is basically stealing John away from Helen in his favor, once again a stereotype (convincing/‘turning’ a man gay).

Excuse how all over the place this is, if there needs to be any elaborations, either DM or inbox me. Otherwise I think I’ve said all what I’ve needed to as to why I’d rather not interact with anyone who associates with MarkedMischief/WickedSaint from this point forward (meaning any previous moots can stay)

This is not related to the current topic of discussion of your asks so I hope you don’t mind me asking a random question. Do you think that Tumblr is a Jikook dominant app? Just by the amount of Jikook blogs and the number of likes/engagement they get, I feel like it is. I can’t be sure tho because I don’t have all the stats. In my opinion, I would say that most of the other social media sites are mainly Taekook dominated, although I’m not too sure for Reddit. Of course this is not competition or anything like that but I just found it interesting that Jikook are one of the more “popular” discussed ships on here. I wonder why that is? What does Tumblr have that attracted many Jikookers vs other ships? Do you have any thoughts on this, since you are more experienced with Tumblr? Do you think that I am perhaps wrong in my observations that Tumblr seems more Jikook-based? Why did you choose Tumblr as your main outlet to support Jikook? Anyways, I love your blog and I enjoy reading through the posts of how people came to find you!

Do you think tumblr is a jikook dominated app?

Again, sorry. No idea. I DO know there are also tons of blogs specifically for other ships. I've seen them. I've gone looking through some of them for specific events at times in regards to other duos or when one of yall sends me an ask about other shipper theories and then i gotta go deep dive into their spaces and figure out what the theories even are and why they exist. 😅 and on top of that, I'm following under 20 people here and some of those are book related blogs too. I also mostly stay out of the jikook tag unless I'm in the mood to deal with all that. So I'm possibly not the best person to answer this. I do also know that they were named in the top 10 tumblr ships of all time on tumblr in 2018. And they were only 1 of 2 real person ships on that list (I believe). What that looks like now? 🤷🏻‍♀️ nor can I speak for the stats of other sites.

I can't speak for others, but for me, it was mostly the character count and the ability to filter. Like I said above, I don't venture outside my dash page very often. So especially with my anons off, my tumblr experience is very drama free. While I block freely on Twitter and only follow a certain amount of people, the drama is easier to stumble across. On top of that, I CLEARLY like to talk and drone on and on. Tumblr allows me to do so a bit easier without character counts in a tweet limits. All that to say, I do have a Twitter account that I use, that I tweet about OT7, various duos and jikook on. I am mostly active in DMs on Twitter though talking to people/my moots.

Otherwise, I don't have too many thoughts over it. I never spent too much time considering the why's or how's. I think it's just that the frequency of drama is usually lower on this site than others if i had to make a guess. And if you let the anons on. You can block their whole IP address if they cross lines, not just their account. Lol thank you for the ask! Its an interesting topic to consider!

Hi it is finally time for me to share my Gentaro hypmic theory with the world

I just want to put it out there before Cross A Line releases and it’s rendered completely moot point LMAO

OBVIOUSLY HEAVY HYPMIC SPOILERS AHEAD

Okay so like... I think most of us are on the same page about Gentaro’s brother being his older twin, and that “Gentaro” is really the name of the older brother; not the Gentaro that we know.

So my personal theory about Gentaro’s backstory is this: He and his brother were used in twin experiments by Party of Words at some point before their takeover.

Here is my proof:

In the FP M manga, chapter 6, Gentaro has three meetings with different publishers (I assume?) about the manuscripts of his most recent novels. The synopsis for each are as follows:

(1)"the brotherly love between twins" (genre not specified)

(2) "the isolated struggle of a young man engulfed in the establishment's conspiracy" (which is a mystery book)

(3) "the elder of the twins stopping an organization from kidnapping and using people as test subjects" (which is a sci-fi book)

After the third one, the publisher comments that it’s a “very interesting fiction”, which Gentaro brushes off as “a stroke of luck”. However, the moment the publisher leaves, he sighs to himself and says “A fiction, huh..,”

So my theory here is that our Gentaro and his brother were involved in this kidnapping and being used as test subjects, and then Gentaro’s brother ultimately puts a stop to it by releasing the manuscript. 

We also know from Gentaro’s songs and from FP M+ chapter 7 that Gentaro best writes what he has experienced first hand, even if details of the final product have been altered to protect his and his brother’s identities.

My other piece of evidence, is that Rei and Party of Words then when on to      D E V E L O P   C L O N E S

In my opinion it makes sense idk. I know it’s probably not correct. In fact, I’m pretty sure DoD chapter 12 contradicts this? Because the Ramuda that we know already exists by the time Gentaro’s debut novel comes out? But it could also be that maybe Gentaro’s brother mainly wrote nonfiction and our Gentaro mainly writes fiction? So it would be a debut novel instead of a debut book/biography/etc.? Either that, or his brother had never actually published his works, and Gentaro took it upon himself to do so under his brother’s name? I guess only time will tell.

Either way, I’m excited to find out! Tbh I wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t get the lore drop on this for a while, but I just wanted to put my thoughts out into the world! #cw!__ / #tw!__ / #neg!__ / #__ crit+ more can be tagged if needed or requested (as in, if the tag isn't already there). Depends on who runs the blog. Whether you need to send in a ask, or just reply to the post, or DM. Up to the person to runs the blog.

Two options : tag filter and content filter.

Tags filter is self-explanatory. You enter the tag you don't wanna see, and done. You'll never see that tag, or any posts that have that tag again.
