you’ve dragged me into the LEGO monkey kid fandom
so I was wondering macaque with a healer kid? If that’s not too much
I’m very sorry but I love your writing
Little Healer Headcanons
Macaque and Ne Zha
(I always love hearing that I got someone into Monkie Kid- it’s one of the things that makes me happiest to read!)
Tumblr media
You spend a lot of your time patching this guy up- by design. Since Macaque has an adorable little friend to mend his injuries, why should he temper his powers? The sable simian never bothers to hold back in the slightest.
Macaque goes out of his way to go overboard, knowing that his dear white mage will be there for him with a stave and a worried frown.
Unfortunately for him, it seems to be that you have a longer line of clients and customers than ever before- not that it’s really a surprise.
Someone was on the other side of all those fights he was winning, after all~
And he’s willing to leave a few more bruises if the crowd can’t part for him fast enough- after all, Macaque will always be first in line to receive your services.
And sure, maybe he’ll ignore your squawking and protesting when he forces you to shut down the itty-bitty clinic (probably just an unlicensed street stall) early to get in a good snuggle, “repaying the favor” by tossing you over his shoulder and heading home so he can coddle you like his own child.
He’ll force you to take breaks by jamming stolen handheld consoles into your hands, setting you up with slow turn-based games and decoration simulators to slowly lull you into a cozy sleep- all while resting your head in his lap, of course- he’s gotta get that fatherly skinship in.
Plies you with healthy snacks and fruit-infused water made to keep one’s energy and health up, ensuring that you’ll always be at the top of your game- but only for him, of course!
If you ever do come around to calling him “dad”, he’s going to be over the moon- in his own subtle way.
He’ll sneak into your room late at night, Rumble and Savage casing the perimeter, and… press a soft kiss to your forehead, snap a little tracker-embedded bracelet around your wrist…
And then drag you off the bed and take you home for good.
Tumblr media
Oh, he loves you so, so much.
Assuming that you, as a healer, fall into the “white-hearted healing cutie” stereotype, then you are Ne Zha’s de-facto favorite person.
He finally has someone who stays out of trouble and does as told? He finally has someone who listens to his commands and acts when told to act? Someone loyal and sweet and obedient?
Perfect.
“As always,” he says frequently, one hand on your head, “I am proud of your efforts to serve our realm.”
“Thank you,” is your return, polite and curt. It earns you another head pat, though Ne Zha is always careful not to muss your hair.
“Very good. I’ll send in the next soldier.”
This is the life he’s built for you, safe and slow and useful.
And with him by your side the days drift and bleed, every moment of your time micromanaged and utilized.
It’s rare to get a break unless you work yourself to the point of sickness, at which point he’ll tuck you in with a mug of hot tea and a small basket of fruit on the bedside and “Maybe a bowl of those noodles from that mortal store you like, if you behave yourself, Y/N.”
He tries to be sweet and gentle, but Ne Zha still has a temper and is still very stressed out by the stunts of the Monkie Kids- it’s not impossible that he’ll snap and take his anger out on you.
And though this is pretty much the literal worst thing he’d ever do to you (aside from MAYBE a very mild flogging given the Celestial Realm practices that in the novel? It doesn’t fit with his character at all to any degree so I’m split. He seems more like a non-physical lecturer) it still hurts like hell to work so hard and be so good and still get punished for something that wasn’t even your fault.
And Ne Zha feels like trash afterwards but is too proud too apologize, and regardless is too worried that he’d lose his control over you if he treated you like an equal and outright said “sorry”, so he just takes a trip to the mortal realm and buys you something hot and fried.
He’ll wrap the grease-stained paper in a cloth sack to prevent any confused stares that might arise in the Celestial Realm, and book the horrid food down to your room.
Though the quality leaves quite a bit to be desired, and the healthy value makes him want to scream and slap the burger from your hands…
You’ve stopped sniffling.
And that’s enough for him

Words Better Left Unread, or Is It? ~ Part I ☆
Part II Part III Part IV
Tumblr media
Dear Wukong (don’t ask why I’m writing this when I’m never going to send it),
I still have no idea what to think of myself. I was brought back to life by Lady Bone White, yet nothing feels right. I was pulled from the grave and forced into a situation involving debt and a contract I never agreed to. Facing you again was the hardest thing I’ve experienced in all the years of my life. It seems that no matter how hard I try or where I go, something always happens to mess everything up and leave me in ruins once more.
(Macaque sighs, running a hand down his face in frustration and exhaustion, before penning the letter.)
What held me back when it came to the kid? I’m not sure. Maybe I thought I could be the Macaque I once was the way you remember me before my death. Before I realized it, I found myself helping Mk and you, even going against Lady Bone White. The kid, Mk, believes I am still the warrior I used to be. I wish I could be that person again, but those days are behind me now.
Then came Azure Lion, returned from the dead. Peng remained unchanged, doing everything he could to irritate me. Once again, I helped—this time for the kid. But perhaps I also did it for you when I entered the scroll to assist Mk in finding you in the ink scroll. Why did I do it? I'm still unsure. Maybe this is just another decision that will leave me in ruins. Perhaps I miss the way we used to be, the friends, sworn brothers that could go up against anything—the Hero and the Warrior. But those are just memories, remnants of what once was. You never apologized, but then again, neither did I. The truth is I’m scared, what if it happens again? Peng’s words still ring in my head, “Is there anything Wukong could do that would break his hold over you? Pathetic!” It’s true; it’s pathetic. I’m pathetic. First, I got stuck in debt I didn't expect, feeling the pain of being pulled back from the brink, only to realize I was blinded in one eye—something I could never regain. This betrayal came from you my best friend, someone I trusted. What would I even do if you ever apologized? Why do I still care?
This kid is changing me. Will this happen again? The kid invited me to a beach party, obviously, I knew Mk didn’t tell you he invited me—no doubt about that—but…I have no clue why I accepted it and went, even though I was late. Why did I go at all? Why am I questioning who I am? Why am I questioning whether I truly hate you for what you did to me?
End of letter.
(Perhaps I should discuss it. However, these letters... I will never send it. Never to my ex-best friend was Macaque’s thoughts.)
Macaque paused, staring at the neat writing of the Chinese ink characters as if they were lifting off the page. He sighed deeply, dropping the pen onto the table. Taking a moment to breathe, he felt the conflicting emotions swirling within him: memories of the past, the current situation, uncertainties about the future, and his confusing feelings for Wukong. He cared for Mk more than he would like to admit.
The sound of a chair scraping against the floor echoed as Macaque turned to look out the window at the night sky. The full moon shone brightly, a stark contrast to the darkness surrounding it. For a moment, memories of the past flooded back — the good times spent with Wukong, the laughter and adventures they shared. But then, the painful memories returned, particularly on the day of his death. He hadn't even had time to scream; it all ended in an instant. A shiver ran down his back. Would things ever be different?
Macaque got up from his cheap thrifted desk (not just grabbed from his shadows wherever the desk was and used it as his furniture, finders keepers. Losers won’t know and just think their house had been looted). He went to the kitchen to see if there was something he could make, as he suddenly noticed that Ramble and Savage had left him. He guessed they wanted to walk around or do something—something they often did when he hung around the house doing nothing. Ramble was focusing on the letter and had subtly caught Savage's attention, showing her the letter while trying to ensure that Macaque didn’t notice. They were his shadows, although a separate embodiment from him, and had their little personalities. They knew his thoughts and knew his feelings. Savage and Ramble looked at each other almost pausing, they were like mischievous teenagers. As Savage nodded, she grabbed the letter as Ramble's job was to distract Macaque.
Macaque was in the kitchen, rummaging through the cabinets and the refrigerator, when he heard a slight movement behind him. He turned around to see Savage holding the unfinished letter. He froze, realization and surprise overtaking his expression as he stared at her.
"What the heck are you doing with that, Savage?"
Macaque's eyes narrow as he stalks closer to Savage, a mix of anger and confusion on his face. He holds out his hand.
"Give me that. Now."
As soon as Ramble yells “Scatter!”, Savage scatters into a dozen, smaller, shadow clones that dart around the room. Macaque growls, frustrated as he tries to reach for the letter still clutched in Savage's hands. He attempts to grab the letter, but the shadow clones weave and dodge, evading his grasp. Macaque's frustration grows as he chases after the clones, his movements growing more frantic and aggressive.
"Dang it, come back here!"
Savage manages to slip out the window, the letter still clutched tightly in her hands. Macaque hears the window opening and turns to see her escaping.
"No, get back here!"
Macaque sprints to the window, reaching for Savage, but she's already outside and out of reach. He lets out a frustrated yell and smacks his palm against the window. Macaque turned to Ramble, who shrank back under his gaze. He crossed his arms and fixed Ramble with a stern glare.
"You too, Ramble. What were you two thinking?"
Ramble fidgeted with his hands, avoiding Macaque's intense gaze. He knew they had messed up by letting Savage grab the letter. He looked up at Macaque, a mix of guilt and fear in his eyes.
"We… we were just being curious…"
Macaque's eyes widened in realization. His anger was suddenly replaced by a sinking feeling of dread. He couldn't believe what he had missed. The letter, the letter meant for Wukong he always wrote those, two small buckets filled since his revivment but never sent them of course and now it was out of his control.
"No, no no no..."
Macauqe ran a hand down his face, a feeling of dread and panic washed over him. His mind started racing, trying to figure out what to do next. He couldn't let Wukong get that letter, not like this. It was too personal, too revealing of truths he had wanted to keep to himself. Macaque stood there, his mind racing as he considered the gravity of his situation. "What am I going to do now?" he thought, the knot of frustration tightening in his chest. He knew that Savage, the swiftest of his shadows, had a knack for darting away with whatever they desired. Ramble, on the other hand, was a master of stealth, slipping in and out of places unnoticed. It was no wonder that the letter, filled with secrets and emotions he had long kept buried, had been taken so easily.
Clenching his fists, he battled against the rising tide of helplessness. He was acutely aware that there was nothing he could do to retrieve the letter now; it was likely already far beyond his reach, whisked away into the night. A heavy sigh escaped his lips as the reality of the situation washed over him like a cold wave. The very thoughts and feelings he had worked so hard to keep hidden were now in the possession of someone he had hoped to shield them from—Wukong.
The anticipation of Wukong’s reaction loomed over him like a dark cloud. Macaque felt a chill run down his spine at the thought of the impending confrontation. With a heavy heart and a racing mind, he accepted the truth: he would be spending the night in restless torment, unable to shake this gnawing anxiety as he awaited the fallout of choices made long before. Sleep would evade him, leaving him trapped in his thoughts, haunted by the secrets that now hung in the air like an unfinished song.

“Wait for me” dead!Macaque x living!reader (1.5k words)
A/N: I know I’m mixing pantheons but I’ve been back on a musical hype and this time around it’s been Hadestown. I love the musical too much and it came to mind when listening to “Wait for Me (reprise)” that the Orpheus and Eurydice characters would work for Macaque and another person. Although terribly angsty I must fulfill my heart's desires.
The reader is currently walking up to the living world after convincing the god of the underworld to go on a trial to get their lover the Six-Eared Macaque back home with them. The trick is that if they look back at Macaque before they reach the surface he has to go back to the underworld.
otherwise known as the Orpheus and Eurydice myth from the author Virgil and/or Ovid
This story is told from the reader’s perspective who knew, met, and fell in love with Macaque before his confrontation with Wukong. So it might seem that they’re being too hard on Wukong for killing his sworn brother when they yell at him but they don’t know everything that happened between them. ***Only the rumors of Sun Wukong from local towns and what Macaque told them.*** So I just wanted to make that clear.
Tumblr media
Although you knew you had begun the trial and Macaque must have been behind you, you couldn’t hear him and yet still you walked. Step after step of hoping you weren’t tricked by them. All you wanted to be back in his arms, dancing in the moonlight and counting the stars until dawn arrived. You remembered it as clear as day. You were just on a walk with him, strolling through the woods and laughing about a forest spirit you had run into who mistook you as being kidnapped only to apologize when it was clear you both were in love.
It was calm and quiet as most days were but Macaque heard something, someone, someone who he once called his brother. They hadn’t seen each other in centuries and the last they saw of one another wasn’t pleasant. At least that’s all that Macaque had told you and insisted that it was too painful to talk about which you respected. You both trusted each other more than anything and you hoped it’d get you through everything.
You didn’t know what caused that fight or whether it was fate or a coincidence that they saw one another that day after almost a thousand years. Flashes and shouts could be heard as they both clashed against one another. For a demon, the fight would be easier to see but you could only catch bits and pieces of the battle, seeing both celestial primates create big craters in nearby mountains and strong gales whipping across the land surrounding them.
Truthfully you were terrified for your life a couple of times as trunks of big trees were flung your way and when gales of wind threatened to carry you off the ground. Through all of it, your eyes desperately searched for Macaque in hopes of seeing anything pointing to his survival. That moment almost froze in time as someone whom you now recognized as Sun Wukong “Great Sage Equal to Heaven” stood over your lover. Before you knew it you raced to where they both were and ignored the scrapes and cuts you got from recklessly running through a battleground.
Sure you heard the rumors of the Monkey King traveling west from folks in nearby towns or villages but the demon you saw before was nothing like you had heard and you saw him raise his staff high. You wanted to cry out, scream, do anything to get him to stop to your voice failed to obey you. He fiercely growled before yelling and striking Macaque who lay at the bottom of a crater covered in severe injuries with his staff. Most notably three large gashes over his right eye, the blood hadn’t clotted yet and you doubted it would even if he came out alive.
You let out a sob as you thought about those last couple of words. “if he came out alive”. Catching his gaze for a second those few seconds held a thousand words. Despite the shadow of death inches away from ending his life, he still smiled with so much love in his eyes and hoped that you could continue to live your life with the promise of finding joy in the smallest things. He wished that you could forgive him for leaving you so soon when he’d assured you so much love and happiness in your future.
Both of you wanted time to stop, for anything to stop the inevitable, a miracle to happen. You couldn’t though. The last thing you would ever see of him would be through your warped teary vision, his midnight black fur caked with thick blood and deep cuts decorated his strong-built body. His beloved scarf that he treasured so much lay on the ground torn severely and a mix of blood and dirt obscured parts of his beautiful vibrant six ears; now partially covered in small cuts on the edges of each colorful lotus petal-shaped ear. Although one of his eyes had been badly damaged surely beyond repair you could see his gold shining eye meeting yours and sharing one last glance before the red powerful staff came down on Macaque.
Sun Wukong had light tears falling down his cheeks and slowly approached the now-still demon’s body with shaking hands, letting his staff fall from his grip and clattering to the ground. There was so much conflict in his expression and hesitation as to whether he should even touch his fallen brethren but you rushed in. Dirt, blood, and bruises clung to you as you tumbled into the crater and collapsed on your lover, sobbing harshly at the reality now hitting you and gripping the soft torn yellow and black fabric of his layered hanfu. You cried out in pain not caring about the outside world because if something happened to you then at least you’d be reunited with one another.
A firm hand gripped your shoulder and tried to pry you off to no success, his insistence on getting you to safety and pressing the message that no mortals should be here fell on deaf ears. You didn’t care about the things you said getting up weakly and shoving the Monkey King’s chest with shaky hands. “I don’t care! You killed him! You bastard! He told me you were once close.” you shouted and raised a hand, slapping the left side of his face hard and seeing him hiss through his teeth when you hit a deep cut on his cheekbone.
The world was silent. Not a leaf fell or animal chittered. Only when you turned around to go back to mourning the death of someone you loved so much and knew they loved you just as much did you hear the footsteps of others. Probably the Great Sage’s companions who came to see who the victor was. You could feel 5 pairs of eyes on you and guessed the dozens of questions they had of why a random mortal was crying over a powerful demon’s corpse. One of the travelers came towards you as you cradled Macaque in your arms, an unkempt pig demon walking towards you and gleefully shouting, “Don’t cry beautiful mortal. You’re saved from the horrible demon that kidnapped you, and his power is gone! Let us help-” he was cut off by Sun Wukong tugging him back before he could touch you.
You did your best to hold in the sobs and despair you had, forcing yourself to look up and focus on the demon responsible for all of your pain. “Go. Go and live knowing you not only killed someone close to you but broke the heart of his lover. I’m sure he’s resting peacefully now.” you spat. After a few tries you managed to pick Macaque up with his head resting on your chest and carefully walked back near to where you both lived. You didn’t bother to see Sun Wukong’s expression when to told him who you were to Macaque and how it cracked into shock and anguish.
That had been almost 2 months ago until you’d finally found a local mountain god that accepted your offering in exchange for information about how to get to the underworld and after you made your trek through hell you bargained with King Yan for your lover’s soul. Another rock bounced off your shoe and hit the gravel path. You couldn’t hear his footsteps or voice or breath and you questioned if he was even behind you at all. Memories of the good times you both shared pooled in your mind and allowed a soft smile to sneak up on your face. How you had both first met because of him mistaking you for an easy victim. Safe to say he failed to do anything because you fought back decently.
Your meetings were always by surprise at first but then Macaque began to show up regularly and seemed more curious about what you did and who you were. It was obvious he could do something else rather than “wasting” time on someone he failed to kill but you caught his interest. The same game was played fairly often until a week passed when he disappeared and you thought that was it. You were happily surprised when you went to your regular sight to gather herbs and saw sizable bundles of each herb you usually picked tied up all in a basket. Macaque ended up rising from the shadow of a nearby Rainbow Gum tree and apologizing for disappearing but offering to repay you. That night he confessed underneath the stars looking at the moon while he told you stories he heard during his travels.
A bright light blinded you in the dark tunnel that was now slowly opening into the base of the mountain you entered hours ago and you fought through the tight v-shaped opening until you reached the edge where obsidian-shaded gravel met the healthy forest floor. You couldn’t tell if it was you or Macaque who let out a sigh of relief.
“You’re here.”

LMK Sun Wukong x Fem. Reader
( Takes place just after the end of the last episode where everyone is at the beach. Reader is MK’s sister figure - around 25)
Wukong and Macaque settle into silence and Macaque starts eating the frozen peach popsicle when he notices Wukong staring off. He follows his eye line to see Y/N sitting on the sand reading a book and noticing Wukong has the most love sick expression on his face, a devious smirk makes it way onto his face. " No way." He says causing Wukong to snap out of it and turn to him, " What?" Wukong questions. " You have a thing for the kids sister!" Macaque says, Wukong was grateful it wasn't possible to see him blush. " What?! No I don't... why would you even-" Wukong starts but is cut off by the " I know you're lying" look Macaque gives him, Wukong glares at him for just a second before giving up. " So what if I do? what does it matter to you anyway?" Wukong demands crossing his arms. Macaque chuckles, " It doesn't really" he says " Though it IS kind of ironic that after all the effort you put into getting rid of your own mortality that you ended up falling for a mortal.”. " Yes, thank you captain obvious. l'm well aware of that." Wukong says glaring at him and Macaque chuckles at his anger, " So?" Macaque says. " So what?" Wukong questions, " Aren't you going to go talk to her? Make a move or something?" Macaque asks.
“ I-,” Wukong starts before slightly shrinking in on himself with a defeated sigh “ I don’t know if I can.”, Macaque raises an eyebrow at him confused at where this shyness was coming from. “ Why not?” Macaque questions, Wukong starts rubbing the back of his neck nervously. “ It’s just… I’m afraid to mess it up, alright?” He says avoiding eye contact “ I’ve made so many mistakes in my life, how can I be sure I won’t mess this up too?”, Macaque’s gaze softens slightly in understanding. “ You can’t.” He says, Wukong glares at him “ Gee, thanks for the vote of confidence.”. Macaque rolls his eyes, “ What I’m saying Wukong is that you can never know what’s going to happen in the future. All you can do is try your best.” He says. “ Oh.” Wukong says blinking in surprise and the anger completely dissipates, he looks away seeming to get lost in thought. Macaque rolls his eyes again before opening a shadow portal beneath Wukong who makes a questioning noise before falling through it. Wukong falls from at least a foot in the air down to the sand just a few steps from Y/N. The landing causes sand to splash up and Y/N quickly closes her book shielding it from the sand with a surprised yelp.
Y/N looks over seeing Wukong laying in the sand, “ Oh.” She says in surprise setting the book down and quickly getting up. She rushes over helping him up as he turns to the side spitting out a mouthful of sand, Y/N puts her hand up to her mouth trying to cover her laughing but it doesn’t work. “ I’m sorry Monkey King” Y/N laughs “ I didn’t mean to laugh at you.”, “ It’s alright.” He assures while brushing off his arms. “ You know, you could wash off the sand in the water?” Y/N offers with a smile “ I’m pretty sure Mei and MK are about 5 seconds away from dragging us in anyway. What do you say?”, Wukong looks at her in surprise but quickly finds himself frozen as he stares into her gorgeous Y/C eyes. After a few moments he realizes he’s been silent for too long, he clears his throat before nodding with a smile. “ Sure.” He says.
The two walk into the water, and almost instantly getting pulled into playing with Mei and MK ( with red son just a little bit away pretending he isn’t having fun). They end up spending just over an hour just messing around playing whatever water based games the kids want to play before heading back to the sand. Monkey King starts shaking off the water like a dog getting it all over Y/N, and Y/N just gives him a look of disbelief. Monkey King freezes and cringes realizing what he’s done, “ Oh, sorry.” He says. Y/N smiles and laughs waving off his apology assuring him it’s fine, she picks up the beach towel drying herself off before putting on her cover up. Just then, Tang starts yelling something about the snacks and drinks being gone. Y/N rolls her eyes, “ Fine, I’ll go get some more.” She calls before turning to the Monkey King “ Would you mind helping me?”. “ Of course.” He says, the two grab the drink cooler and the bag of snacks heading back up to Monkey King’s home.
The two make pleasant small talk on the way up to the temple and quickly pack up the snacks and drinks. Y/N reaches into her bag taking out her hairbrush, “ Here, while we’re up here might as well brush through your fur.” She says. “ Huh? What for?” Wukong asks confused, “ You don’t want it to get all matted and gross after being in the water do you?” She says. “ Oh, Uh..” he starts stuttering nervously and Y/N smiles, “ Here.” She gestures to the couch “ If you want I can brush it for you.”. “ Ok.” He says quietly and he avoids eye contact as he walks over taking a seat on the couch, Y/N starts brushing through his fur. The first minute or so Wukong is pretty tense out of nervousness, but he quickly starts to relax as she brushes through his hair. She takes a few minutes going through his arms back and head, and by the time she’s done his whole body is warm and relaxed- so much so he is almost asleep as she finishes up. “ There.” She says setting the brush down “ Just one more thing.”, he hums questioning with his eyes still closed and a content smile. It takes him a moment to process her lips are being pressed to his, his eyes shoot open in surprise as she pulls away and he could swear his heart stopped beating. He mind was racing a million miles a minute but all he could end up getting out was, “ I guess you heard Macaque and I talking, huh?”. Y/N chuckles at his surprise, “ Something like that.” She says smiling at him “ I had a feeling you’d be a little too nervous to make the first move, so I decided I would.”. He breathes out a sigh of relief and smiles, “ Well I appreciate that.” He says cupping both of her cheeks looking deep into her eyes “ Though I hope you won’t mind if I make the next one.”. Y/N smiles and nods, Wukong gently pulls her into another kiss. After a long few moments Wukong pulls her to sit in his lap tilting his head when he kisses her again deepening the kiss. After a few more passionate kisses Y/N pulls back resting her forehead against his breathing slightly heavily, after catching her breath she just smiles before wrapping her arms around him in a hug and nuzzles her head into his neck. “ You know, I’m glad to know you like me too.” She says, he hums in agreement giving her a light squeeze. The two stay like that for a few more moments before getting up and holding a hand out to help Wukong up, “ We should probably get back with the snacks before everyone starts getting angry.” She says helping him up. The two grab the snack and drink containers and Wukong holds out his hand, “ Shall we, m’lady?” He asks. Y/N smiles and takes his hand as they start back toward the beach.

MACAQUE X READER X MAYOR
Lego Monkie Kid
Context: You. With the boys. Your best friends, who will support you no matter what (and also thoroughly enjoy the trials and terrors they put your sorry ass through). Today, you're training with Macaque on the temple grounds. Using weapons, like usual. What can go wrong?
CW: Language
***
"Carry me, I say!" You chirp, grinning widely.
Macaque stares down his nose at you, unimpressed. "It would be an insult to my strength. I've lifted stuff fifty times heavier than you."
You huff, scrunching your nose at him.
The three of you are strolling through the temple, admiring ancient pieces of Chinese weapons, offensive and defensive, as well as the armor section and a few old relics. However, your destination is the training hall, where you and Macaque shall test each other's fitness and skill levels after technically leveling up both areas. You feel confident, rolling your shoulders experimentally and tightening your grip on your signature fighting weapon.
Now, why three?
A certain bone demon chuckles. "Apologies, (Y/N), but you must carry yourself for now."
"And you won't do it instead?"
"I'm afraid not. I'd like to sit and watch," the Mayor hums, hands clasped neatly behind his back as he strolls alongside the two of you. Macaque pushes open the large, accented doors and you all head into the training arena. "We both know if I were to enter the fray, neither of you would last very long."
The shadow monkey snorts, gruffly assessing the bone demon's frame. "Sure. You're built like a twig."
You flash him a wink. "A dangerous twig with magical powers."
"Precisely why I shall extend my mercy," Mayor says, smiling lazily as he manifests a seat made of bones, settling down on the cushioned surface. "Now please, don't let me interrupt your fun."
Giving him a thumbs up, you turn to Macaque.
He's already grinning down at you, thick, dark eyebrows raised. "Ready to get clobbered?"
"It's a simple sparring match," you reason carelessly. "What could go wrong?"
"Heh. Cocky. I like it."
The two of you face off on either side of the arena, grinning stupidly at eachother. You're glad for times like these, where the three of you can just relax after the tedious and dangerous trials you went through. It certainly seems like the worst is over, though.
All at once, Macaque jabs forward, lightning quick.
You gasp with delight, ducking to the side with a gleeful yelp, and thus begins your sparring match edged with weapons and talons galore. Macaque's offensive start gives you the adrenaline rush you need to counter his attack, using your weapon to propel yourself against the wall. Knees bending like springs coiling tight, you spring forward and jut your spear at the dark furred simian- luckily the tip is dulled and capped.
"Oh ho ho~! You're quicker than usual," Macaque purrs, evading you as easy as the breeze. He takes a few steps behind you, and his tail hooks around your ankle, giving it a swift tug.
The yelp that leaves your lungs is muffled as you collide with the hard, cold surface of the temple sparring grounds, and with a grunt, you raise yourself onto your elbows. "Using your tail?? So that isn't cheating, but me throwing my shoe at you is an instant disqualification?"
Macaque shrugs, smirking. "Are I not allowed to used all parts of my body to defend myself? Unless the shoe was a part of your anatomy..."
"Oh, suck on a dragonfruit," you huff, pushing yourself to your feet.
Deep down, you know he's right, and it just entices you to roll your eyes. Mayor, of course, sides with the six-eared simian, although he doesn't verbally express his share of opinions. Merely, you catch that subtle smirk on his pale features as you spar with Macaque, the subtle quirk of his eyebrow indicating his amusement at your frustration. You're not surprised. The bone demon has yet to drop the chance to get on your nerves.
In the end, you're a breathless puddle of adrenaline with a lingering fight that becomes the only reason you can still swing an scythe. Poor you.
Macaque, on the other hand, hadn't even broken a sweat.
It's been an hour.
Does this guy ever run out of stamina??
When Mayor calls for a breather, you're all but willing to collapse on the plush couch he'd manifested for your sake, the frame made out of bone- of course. You grab your water bottle, taking a huge swing before dumping some of it over your face.
"So how'd I do, huhh?"
Mayor tuts, his trademark smile still ever-present. His eyes flick to Macaque, who joins the two of you and leaning against his staff, supported by his thick tail. The simian clears his throat.
"Good enough. You almost beat me like three times, so . . . props for sheer, absolute stubbornness."
You stick your tongue out at him, still breathless, but silent as the bone demon chuckles. "What our dear friend is trying to say, is that you're improving. Maybe one day you might have the chance to spar against myself, although . . ." He gives a sinister smile. "The chances are slim."
"Awww, cmon. You can't be that good," You huff doubtfully, kicking one leg over the other. An old man like him, putting up a fight worthy of the powerful demons in this realm? Unlikely. However, there's an odd glint in Mayor's eyes that leaves room for doubt.
Macaque's ears flatten. "(Y/N), trust me. I hate to admit it, but . . . Bones here is more powerful than ya think."
The look on your face must've gone noticed by none other than the bone demon himself, who's eyes narrow at your prolonged skepticism.
"Perhaps I demonstrate?"
You're caught off guard as he suddenly stands up, all business as he adjusts his suit and fixes his tie. With a lazy smirk, he extends his hand towards you, a display of misleading courtesy that belies an undercurrent of sinister intentions. Poor, oblivious, gullible you- who takes his hand and allows him to lead you into the sparring arena. You're practically giddy with excitement, totally ready to see what this old bag of bones is capable of.
"Oh, you're on, old man," you hum darkly, sizing him up through narrowed eyes.
Macaque takes your seat on the bone couch, arms crossed over his chest. "Hey- go easy on 'em, Bones," he calls out, looking disinterested. "I'd rather not have to explain this to MK."
"Oh, worry not, my dear," Mayor chuckles humorously, letting you go in order to cross to the other side of the arena. Once there, he spins on his heel, eyes narrowed yet entirely focused on you. "I merely seek to avenge my status, as our dear little mortal appears to doubt me."
You tilt your head, wondering if he'd taken your tease seriously or not. "Uh. Mayor, I wasn't being genuine, you know-"
"Too late!"
Your eyes go wide as Mayor suddenly grins wide. His arms outstretch, wisps of blue and ice cascading from his fingertips and setting the whole arena floor aglow in a brilliant, ice blue hue. You suck in a sharp breath, taking a step back, trying to step off of the cold, ice tiles-
Fire licks at your calves.
You yelp, spinning around- why was it cold???
Then you realize- the Mayor had created a barrier of blue fire, serving as a ring for the arena and effectively trapping you inside. The breath leaves you in a single, shuddering gasp, your fingers tightening on the weapon given to you. A weapon- you're well aware- that will prove to be useless against a demon like Mayor.
Instantly, you realize your mistake, for a moment disregarding your guaranteed safety over the blind notion that you're in danger. You know he'd never truly hurt you but in the midst of all this?? Yeah. You freak out.
"Shit- Mayor, I take it back!" You call out, spinning around-
Only to find the bone demon a mere few feet from your trembling form.
He smiles, tilts his head. "Giving up already? Now that's hardly a warrior's downfall, (Y/N) . . . Go on, give me a good fight," Mayor purrs, before letting out a delighted, unhinged giggle, and lunges.
And boy, does he lunge.
A scream bubbles in your throat, yet you manage to cut yourself off and stumble to the side as Mayor darts forward, hands clasped behind his back. He manages to keep his offense to his feet alone, the thick, black boots kicking out in a series of martial arts moves that shatters your defenses like glass.
You do your best, of course. With each lash of his foot aimed to knock the air out of you or edge you closer to the wall of blue fire, you parry his attacks with your spear.
One- two- three hits, before he strikes a fourth time, harder than the last.
Your weapon splinters right down the middle.
Mayor lets out a mad chuckle, the whites of his eyes flashing in the corner of your eye as he suddenly reaches out, arms encasing your smaller frame and pinning you to the floor.
It took you a few seconds before you'd even realized you'd lost.
"Oh. . . . hgnh . . . O-Owww . . ." You groan, tilting your head to one side to watch the ring of fire slowly dissipate. The glowing tiles beneath your smushed face return to its normal ashen brown, and you're suddenly acutely aware of Mayor's knee pressing into your back. "Ow."
Macaque, who'd been watching the whole thing, rushes into the ring the moment a break in the fire forms. It licks at his hair but he shakes it off, coming to stand in front of you two. He looks . . . concerned.
"Oh my god, you killed them."
"I did no such thing!" Mayor protests, almost indignantly. As if he'd lose control and kill somebody on accident. "All the blood on my hands has never been an accident, shadow puppet. Now- help them up, please."
Macaque stiffens, bristling- but eventually grasps your hand the moment Mayor gets off of you. He hauls you to your feet, one hand on your head.
"You alright in there, bud?"
The moment your eyes meet, Macaque gets a face full of your pissed, frustrated, and still somewhat excited expression. "Fuck you, why didn't you warn me the old man kicks ass harder than my favorite music band?"
"Oh, thank god, you're still there." The simian rolls his eyes sarcastically, finding relief in your scathing remark. It just lets him know you're okay.
Mayor grins over your shoulder. "I didn't bruise you too badly, did I?"
"Mm . . . not really. A few here and there," you hum, scanning your body, pretending to be studious about it. "Mostly my pride and honor, but, y'know, when did I have any of that, anyways?"
Both of your friends manage an amused chuckle at your feigned indifference, knowing you're gonna hold a grudge for a day or so.
"My apologies, dear, but- you did challenge me," Mayor purrs.
"I called you old."
"Same thing."
"Macaque calls you old all the time!!"
"Yessss, but- I've beaten him more times than I can count. I decided to extend my mercy~"

A lil fic snippet for @journeytomonkiekid !
This was supposed to be part of soemthing bigger but I lost momentum lol but here we have Wan Ji and her father-in-law (my oc) hehe
——————————————————————————
“So, you’re not…back to life, exactly?” Wan Ji asked, hoping that question somehow came out okay.
“Well, we are…“ Zhuang Jie answered, not sounding any less neutral than before, but he still took a sip of his tea before continuing.
“I guess the best way I can put it is that we’re still technically ghosts, just in…fully corporeal forms. Even Changbiyuan can’t fully summarize how that works, so apologies, I’m not that much better off.” He smiled to himself a bit at that, clearly taking some humor in it, which made Wan Ji relax a bit more. She was alone with the elder man in Macaque’s dojo right now — who had made himself scarce during this topic of conversation, for fairly obvious reasons.
Despite the mutual understanding (at least, there was an assumption of such), Wan Ji noted that the lack of his son’s presence did bear some weight on Zhuang Jie — and when Wan Ji looked back up at him from her own drink, she saw the concern in his eyes as he regarded her.
“Does it bother you?” He asked, his tone genuine.
“What?” Wan Ji’s tails fluffed up a bit in surprise, and she quickly raised a hand in frantic reassurance. “Oh no, no, not at all! I just wanted to make sure I didn’t say or…assume anything…insensitive…” she explained, self-consciousness starting to grip her — but Zhuang Jie’s expression softened quickly, and he chuckled. She couldn’t help but hear Macaque at that moment.
“Don’t worry about that, I appreciate it. I don’t think there’s any easy way to put it. We both were dead, and…now we’re not. But we’re not going anywhere.” He said gently, and Wan Ji saw his eyes leave hers, gaze deepening at the purple training mat in front of them. “Not again.”
Wan Ji was still a little bit in wonder about this whole thing. Macaque having a father and stepparent who came back from the dead, sure, that was incredible and complicated…she wasn’t sure what to expect at first. But now she was seeing how this man was capable of such pure paternal warmth, in words and action. Even more so that it was currently directed at her. She was pretty sure he had genuinely smiled at her more in this one conversation than her father had in years. She…wasn’t really sure how she felt about that, honestly, so she was trying not to dwell on it. Besides, that didn’t matter right now.
“I am so sorry that you went through that, Zhuang.” Wan Ji spoke empathetically, welling up a bit when thinking of this sorrowful subject she’d been learning more about piece by piece over the last few weeks. “I can’t even imagine what it must’ve been like.”
“It’s alright. And please — don’t try to.” He said, looking back at her with reassurance. “I don’t want to overwhelm you with this topic if it’s uncomfortable to hear about. But don’t worry about offending me — I’m too old for that now.” He said with a joking smirk, and Wan Ji let out a snort.
“Point is, if you have any other questions, I’m fine to answer them, kiddo.”
“…You and Changbiyuan?” She questioned. Surprisingly, Zhuang Jie nodded without hesitation.“Of course. They’d like that, actually.” He stated plainly, and Wan Ji felt taken aback.
“Really?” She couldn’t help but say aloud, and she quickly felt herself regret it, her face warming in embarrassment when Zhuang Jie raised a brow at her questioningly.
“Sorry! It’s just, Macaque told me a little about…” She paused when feeling that same sinking in her gut, that same chill running over her…the memories of that demon.
“...What happened to them.” Zhuang Jie listened patiently as she took a moment to get her words together. “I guess I figured that asking them about it directly would possibly be…triggering for them.” She finished, nervously glancing up to see Zhuang Jie’s reaction. He was nodding contemplatively, unangered.
“That’s a fair assumption to make. When it comes to certain…details, you’re not wrong.” He clarified gravely, taking a moment before smiling lightly at the younger woman.
“But here’s the thing about Changbiyuan — you don’t know them well yet, but once you do, they’re an open book. Sometimes too much of one.” He said, and Wan Ji smiled back at him. It was sweet, hearing him talk about Changbiyuan. About Macaque, too, and seeing this…trust he was placing in her, a woman he basically just met. She briefly wondered just what she was missing.
“They definitely have many horrible memories, we both do. But they cherish the good ones with all of their heart, and want them to be known. If you want to ask them about their family…I think will make them really happy. Especially in this case. You’re someone we both hope to be close to.”

STOP MAKING ME RETURN TO TUMBLR TO WRITE THINGS
Anyway @lunar-wandering has some great ideas and I'm absolutely spoiled by the LMK/JTTW community. I love his posts about Macaque and losing control of his powers when he gets emotional, so I tried to combine "Macaque loses control when he gets flustered" and "it's very cute when Macaque is treated like a king". This is post beach stuff-- I hope you enjoy, and good luck with college! Call this a congrats gift!
"Ummm...not that I'm ungrateful that you made this, it's just--"
"The eggs are plant-based! I know you're vegan now, idiot. Your little one-sided biography's been hanging around since the 16th century."
It’s strange, Macaque thought, how the light worked. He could alter every spotlight, walk under the brightest beam of sunlight, and yet no glow compared to the great centerpiece that casually sat across the kitchen table. He would constantly blind the three realms with his confidence and booming voice.
And oh, how he pampered and spoiled his own shadow nowadays.
He was always in the spotlight, over-protective over every little bump in the road. Grooming tattered fur after he returned from training with his successor. Reminding his old rival to eat and drink after dragging himself across the three realms, nearly skin and bones under his captor’s bidding.
All services fit for a king. The least he could do is return the favor. Sometimes.
"You tweaked breakfast for me? That's...thanks, I guess." Wukong looked down at his plate with a kind smile.
"Don't mention it." Macaque grumbled between bites. The shadow demon pressed a paw to his speeding heart, checking the reflection of the window to see if it wasn't fluttering as badly as his six ears.
His very visible, unglamored ears.
Before the Monkey King could look up, he bundled his scarf over his head.
"Everything okay, bud?" He leaned in closer, curiously searching his partner.
"Uhhhh." Macaque said eloquently, leaning as far back in his chair as he could go. “I’m just…a little cold’s all.”
Bad move. The Monkey King’s brow furrowed, absent-mindedly scratching an icy streak in his fur. He could practically hear the great sage’s mind turn, counting the number of blankets they had in their little temple. “How cold?”
Shit. Shit shit shit! If he left now to fix his stupid ears he'd just look suspicious either way. He scrambled for his own fork, ready to down his meal in three bites and make a run for it.
Taking it as a big, neon ‘do not touch sign’, Wukong sighed heavily. “Just…let me know if you change your mind, okay?”
The other only grunted, waving a paw of approval.
"To be honest, I didn't think we could pick up where we left off." The Monkey King hummed thoughtfully, gaze and mind drifting elsewhere.
"Mhm." Macaque reached for his mug-- freezing in place as a patch of thick white fur crawled up his arm. He quickly stuffed his paws in his lap, sewing on a slapdash glamor. All while the great sage continued his heartfelt speech, not noticing the struggle a foot or so away.
"--ut I think we're really getting better at it. At us, I mean. So what I'm trying to say is, maybe we should talk about…” He looked up, blinking in surprise at the way Macaque dropped his fork, elbows shoved in his lap, teeth clenched through a nervous grin.
“Hey, Mihou? Are you a hundred-and-ten-percent sure you’re okay? You seem, I dunno, distracted?" A peach-furred tail slapped the floorboards.
"Just got a lot on my mind! I'm listening. Promise." Macaque lilted.
"Sure, I gotcha. But if something's wrong--"
"Nothing's wrong!" He waved freshly glamored paws. Nonetheless, the king’s brow weighed with worry, eyes trailing to his old friend’s torso and back again. Apologies would just have to come later. "Just...ignore me. Keep going."
"Fine, fine. Whatever you say. So where was I– Oh, yeah!"
A sigh of relief passed the shadow demon’s lips. And while Wukong chatted away into his teacup, the breath of fresh air was short-lived as Macaque's eyes turned a deep purple.
"--dual mentorship might be a good idea too?"
"Y'don't say." The shadow demon stared very intently at his eggs, head bowed. His snow-furred tail lashed frantically, slipping itself down his pant leg before it could knock something over.
"--t's a big step, but I trust you enough now to--"
Wukong looked up, and Macaque scrambled to hide his face behind his own cup– choking on his tea when longer, sharper fangs clinked against ceramic.
"Mac?" Sun Wukong's head snapped up just as he straightened himself, grin threatening to tear his muzzle apart at the ends behind a paw. "You’re not getting sick, are you?"
"Listening!" His partner wheezed out. He tried not to panic as the glamor that coated his hands nearly popped like snowy balloons. "I'm-- kaff kaff-- I'm listening."
"...Uhhhh sooo...in short..." the Monkey King drawled, ever-so-slowly turning back to his breakfast.
A close call. Macaque bit back a gasp as the table suddenly met his chest, shrinking just a smidge taller than the average macaque– edge prodding his stomach on the way down. A new coughing fit blossomed, barriers completely broken. The second Wukong looked up, his old rival had vanished altogether.
"Mac?" The sage called, standing up to scan the shadier corners of the room.
"Just-- koff-- just dropped something!" Macaque answered from under the table, still trying to get. His illusions. Under control.
He wasn't sure what he expected. Call it bad luck or a bad omen, he desperately pulled at strings of magic, growing three feet too tall before shrinking again. He hit his head on the wooden surface with a loud bang, dishes clinking from the force.
He could practically hear the unimpressed expression on his partner’s face as he lowered himself. "Oh come on, don't be like that! We both know you're never going to talk unless I...I..."
He didn't need much light to see the X-shaped chunk of a scar that carved through a single, dead eye. Frozen in time, Wukong was unable to stop the shadow weaver from melting into the ground.
On one hand, portaling was the fastest and easiest way to escape any situation. A battle, a theft, a social conversation-- any setting could be an exit when sunlight hit the room just right. On the other hand, Macaque was not informed that his glamors weren't the only defective power in his arsenal. The shadow demon aimed for his old, abandoned dojo. Instead, the demon yelped as he caught on a flurry of branches, falling from the shadowy canopy of a familiar peach tree. Morning sunshine peeked from the rustling leaves. Peppered by flora and pale sand, he felt a stone paw wipe away at his eyes. And when the fog cleared, he was met with another pair that hovered above him, blinking back gold vision.
“Soooo…” The Monkey King drawled, “any reason you’re glitching worse than MK after a bad Monkey Cop binge?”
Macaque didn’t bother to grace him with an answer. Instead he pushed himself upright, face twisting at the fur coat he just groomed.
"Ugh, I look like a wreck." He grumbled.
"Don't sell yourself short." Sadness turned to hope, cupping Macaque's cheeks with his palms. "I, for one, think you look very handsome."
Mihou rolled his eyes, ready to pull away, when Wukong twirled him back into his arms.
"I'm serious." He bent down to kiss the nape of his partner's neck, "I love your beautiful ears. Your silver fur."
"Yeah, sure." Macaque snickered, "Come spring, all the fair maidens in your kingdom would swoon for a guy with fur that looks like dry bones."
"Well I certainly did."
Four simple words sent a shiver up Macaque's spine. The last glamor crumbled to nothing, and he hurried to bury his face in his partner's chest. For a moment, the pair stood completely silent.
Finally, Macaque took a shaky breath, mumbling into leather and silk.
"Pardon?" His king raised an eyebrow, "Something you want to share with the class?"
Six ears pinned back. Teasing turned soft and gentle, and Wukong began to rock the both of them into a soothing rhythm. "Don't sweat it. Take all the time you need, okay?"
A groan traveled down Macaque’s knotted stomach, "I said I...ugh..."
"You...?"
"I just. Agh, this sucks!" Just for a brief moment, Liu’er Mihou raised his head, namesakes revealing brilliant hues that flashed to his emotions.
A realization pierced The Monkey King through the heart, and he swore that he felt feverish. His flush nearly matched the shadow that latched to his waist. "...Oh."
Macaque stared openly.
"...What?" Wukong asked.
"That's it?"
"For gods' sake-- what do you mean that's it?"
Swearing to every level of Diyu, Macaque squirmed out of his arms and towards the waves. "You read me like a goddamn book--"
"'Oh'! It's one word! What do you want, a poem?!"
"--I spent all night learning to make that disgusting, watery abomination of an egg recipe--"
"Hey! Don't diss the diet! It's pretty good when you stick with it for a couple centuries!"
"--And I'm stuck with this stupid mess of a body--" A gnarled root caught Macaque's leg, and he fought to untangle himself with all the strength of an adult-sized monkey. "and it's all-- ugh!-- thanks to you and your stupid eyes– Oof!" He fell to the floor in a heap, sending a cloud of sand flying.
Wukong blinked. "What was that?"
Macaque’s blush dusted the tips of his ears as he ripped the root from his ankle, mussed fur fluffing up with rage. "I said I love your eyes!"
He threw up his hands, exasperated. "I love your stupid, goofy grin! I love it when you laugh so hard you light up a room! I love it when you wear those– those ugly Hawaiian shirts! I love it when you leave them unbuttoned! I love how much you've changed! Sometimes I even love how much you've changed me! And I want you to say literally anything else because now you know I'm in love with you!"
Heaving gasps slowed to a stop. The shadow demon swore that Wukong had reverted back to stone. Slowly, carefully, he unclenched himself. He took one step. Then another. Bending down, Macaque could see Wukong's eyes sharpen, studying every crack and tear in his partner's face.
Macaque swallowed. "Whatever. It's not important. Forget I said any--"
His thoughts-- and breath-- were stolen from him with a pull of the collar. Warm lips connected, the sage’s feather light and gentle.
Nope, not a chance. Macaque didn't pour his heart out just to get a few drops. He wrapped his arms around his king's neck, deepening the kiss-- and sending them tumbling to the floor. For a brief moment, the pair stared at each other, wide eyed and stunned. Macaque's shadowy body hovered over the Monkey King. Splayed against foam that lapped at their side, dazed and panting for air.
Macaque snorted.
Wukong giggled.
Their laughing fit traveled through the ocean breeze.
"Well well well!" Macaque's head rested on his palms, spread flat against his chest. His tail swayed in the air, grown fangs flashing. "I didn't take you for the shy type."
"Ugh, no fair! You cheated." The sage pouted, "I can't help it if all your glamors are dropped. Next time you kiss a goddess, you tell me how it goes!"
It only took three-and-a-half seconds for the walking, talking deity to realize his mistake. Annoyance faded into embarrassment, eyes widening and fur fluffing. “Oh no.”
"Let’s see." His partner smirked, twirling a patch of golden fur around his claw. "How did it feel to kiss a goddess?"
He hummed a contemplative note, as if he were tasting the words in his mouth before speaking. "Eight out of ten."
Wukong bolted up so fast he nearly knocked Macaque off his perch, "Round two."
Macaque bit back a chuckle, "Peaches."
"I should have broken that scale, Mac! I'm a twelve at LEAST."

-When Wukong goes to confront him he finds Macaque hiding behind a rock and refuses to face Wukong
-Wukong sheepishly explains the situation. He thought Macaque didn’t love him anymore after how he acted and treated him. He found Nuwa and wanted to try starting anew and be a better partner
-Wukong admits he still loves Macaque and doesn’t want to let him go yet -Macaque finally leaves his hiding spot and can’t help but smile and Wukong

LSO AU sounds really interesting! Are we allowed to ask questions about AUs or does it count as a request?
Hi, thank you for asking! Questions are always allowed, even when requests are closed! I’ll elaborate on Let’s Start Over a little bit!
Tumblr media
After his own journey ends and MK has his own story penned and published, peace settles across Megapolis and the world in general.
He’s even got himself a new title- “Monkie Knight”, after years of working for the king.
MK still steps in to ward off greater threats and more serious demons, but mostly steps back and attends to the noodle shop with Pigsy, who’s just about ready to pass the keys to his son and maybe take up a more casual lifestyle of teaching instead of serving. Maybe a YouTube channel where he teaches basic skills and recipes to viewers. Tang comes in to both expand on the history of what Pigsy is cooking and to taste test the end result. As expected, he adores the food each time.
Things are okay.
There’s trauma and bitterness that MK needs to work through, but… things are alright. With time, they’ll get better.
And then you come around to the shop one day to visit, right as the Ruyi Jingu Bang comes toppling down from where it’s been set- and you catch it.
So starts your journey.
Our golden-hearted hero is a little soured now, having been thrust into dangerous fights again and again. He’s somewhat resentful to certain individuals-
Mei, for not fighting beside him more often, in spite of her combat prowess and draconic powers. He gets a little twitchy when she’s around, thinking of all the fun she had off on her motorcycle, all the live-streams she giggled and joked her way through. MK doesn’t hate her. Not in a million years. Never. But damn if there’s not some bitterness. He’ll still ask her to ‘babysit’ you when he needs to go off and fight.
Though he still cares about Sandy as a friend, MK has shifted his perspective to disliking the river demon’s pacifistic outlook, viewing it as naive and somewhat selfish. He still goes over to paint and have tea, but things are somewhat strained between the two. It’s easy for someone like Sandy, a side-liner, to say “I’m not fighting anymore!” but MK never had that chance. Given that he was in his mid-teens during the start of his journey in this AU, the hero finds it messed up that he had to fight, but an honest to goodness ex-soldier chose not to. Again, no hatred. Things are just a little tense.
Macaque is pretty far down on his shitlist, actually. MK has taken some time to think on the simian’s actions and kinda wishes he had just let Wukong pummel him to death. Most of these feelings relate to their first meeting, but him assaulting Tang and attacking Mei certainly haven’t helped. Or his unnecessary destruction of the Dragon Palace of the East Sea. Or his refusal to apologize. Yeah, this guy doesn’t get to come anywhere near you. MK will act civil because he does believe in redemption and second chances, but dear lord is it hard.
(And he massively regrets the “you aren’t a bad guy” speech he gave to Macaque. Looking back on it, MK thinks he was naively seeing goodness where it didn’t exist.)
And of course, Sun Wukong, for… a lot of things. He talks rather bitterly of his mentor, viewing the Great Sage as irresponsible and rather immature. He wishes there had been more effort and care in the monkey’s teaching, and less “you can handle this”. There’s still some genuine respect and gratitude for the simian, but MK majorly fixates on being ‘different’ in his own mentorship. Problem is…
He’s choosing to be different instead of better.
Wukong had genuine and honest belief in MK, enough to let him handle trouble on his own. The Great Sage didn’t step in not out of laziness, but because he knew that the kid could handle things on his own. Sure, he was way too secretive and hands-off, but his intentions were only ever to help MK grow.
So when he decides to be entirely opposite to Wukong, our newly titled ‘Knight’ becomes a massive roadblock for you. Instead of cutting you loose with confidence, MK is stifling and protective. He’ll fight for you, cook for you, tend to your wounds, etc. Wukong tried to let MK grow without any form of safety net, but MK refuses to allow any growth without complete safety, which is rare.
Instead of being a mentor who’s trying to build you into the best you that you can be, he’s trying to be a father.
And honestly? Sometimes, he’s so good at the act that you wish it were real.

Ok I haven’t done a matchup before but I rlly want to try one for LMK!
My pronouns are she/her, and I’m a MAJOR theatre kid. I love creating skits and writing. Im a person that’s part of a big family (11 siblings) so I love being able to socialize and tend to be a bit of a mom friend. When it comes to partners, I want them to be comfortable with touch cuz I love cuddles and depending on my mood I’m either hugging friends or just being a menace and try to annoy them a bit heh >:) Also I like doing things for other people, just helping out in anyway so it’d be nice if my partner was ok with that :)
hmm, I pair you up with...
Tumblr media
!Macaque! It's kind of obvious with how I paired you up with him but here we are! He greatly enjoys your little skits and might use them for his play and maybe you'll be in it too ;)) He, very much finds your writing interesting and encourages you to write more. He may or may not take a peek at your unfinished writings, he will give some tips and probably help with your writing. He very much enjoys you socializing since he barely does and he just stands there beside you while you talk, probably intimidating the person or probably reading a random ass book you gave him, he likes the book you gave him. It kind of scares him with the amount of family members you have and he mostly avoids your siblings but sometimes talks to your parents if possible. He greatly loves how you act so motherly and sometimes gives him warm sparks in his shadowy heart and adores you from afar when you act motherly to your friends and such. Since Macaque isn't as fond of physical touch he might as well try his best to warm up and try to return the affection. He was never used to that kind of affection in which he will flinch a lot and question what're you doing. When he does warm up you will be drowned with a tsunami of affection non-stop, he could be very clingy but of course, gives you space since he dislikes making you uncomfortable. He tolerates you when you try annoying someone or him, he will simply find it amusing and give a little chuckle and pats your head like it's just a normal day, there might be a chance that he will join your little gremlin activity and both of you are now gremlins, just- adorable. Macaque does things on his own so when he has someone that WILL help him he will surely be surprised yet flattered, he accepts this change of pace and likes it when you help him plus he returns the favor and you do as well, basically never-ending favors and such.
I feel kinda rusty rn, I apologize if it's too OCC. I just got back from graduation and trying to get my motivation back, so yeah. I'll try my hardest to do the rest of the requests that I've received, so I'll start with yours <33 thank you for the request for matchups, I appreciate it big time

2, 3, 4, sips exact same questions from my last ask sure we ball
ok i’m gonna throw in 2 freebie questions 4 this one for fun, if that’s alright, apologies if it isn’t ^-^ i was just eyeing this 4 sips and thought this was a good chance.
2 . you could probably find some1 in the fandom who could ramble and rave about sips’ personality, design, vibes, etc. for DAYS. and i am no different, really. the themes of his character are being lost in the world and trying to find purpose and learning to be vulnerable and heal, which speaks to a LOT of people, as well as his personality (that is kind of infused with dingo’s humor, quirks, struggles). also the way he’s drawn, shit-eating grin and generally being a prick gets a lot of people hooked. basically, his whole design and personality pretty much, but if i had to narrow it down, i would say his special kind of defiance and general prick aura.
3 . i feel like his base design without the croc arm could be spiced up a liiittle bit more and given a few more ornaments, but that’s just me. the combo of open vest and harem pants just reminds me of aladdin lol. but who cares i’m not his character designer and its just a nitpick lmao
4 . same kind of genre as erina, aka obscure old anime. i’d give his a few more shonen elements and jttw inspiration, and a different artstyle kind of like jojo’s bizarre adventure (LOL) with more crosshatching and messier lines, more distinctive atmosphere, and draw sips very similarly to how he is in the series. the original series has a kind of storyboard feel, especially in the later episodes, and i think dull/greyscale backgrounds with some bright colors could make things more visually interesting. also psychological horror
bonus. kind of:
7 . same headcanons they give to ohio jack, which is making him trans, autistic, etc. i do enjoy the more realistic takes on his design, like making him look like a whole ass macaque cuz i think it’s fun. i’ve drawn sips w top surgery scars b4, and i think it’s a cool addition to his character. also, i really, really like that at least this part of the fandom acknowledges that he’s aroace and doesn’t really ship him and instead focuses on his friendships, which i think does his character more of a service than shipping him with gothi. bit fandom will fandom, and i have nothing against shipping, etc. in short, i like this little corner of the fandom :]]
18 . i already wrote about gothi and sips, so i’ll do a different one this time. i wouldn’t say admire like at all, but this one is rlly interesting to me (and if you’ve been looking @ this blog 4 a bit, i do mention this duo), which is xanu and sips (and also the existence of xips). they’re foils, and have so many parallels like in the way they were both experimented on, hold their friends in high regard and everyone else is suspicious to them, etc., but sips seems more aware? which is a rarity when he’s contrasted with other people and both of them bring out a less seen side of each other, with sips meeting an actual Bad Guy and being less murderous compared to him, and xanu being especially annoyed and irritated by sips and kind of enabling him. agh. they should never talk to each other again. sorry 4 the ramble
summary: hehe funny little guy

Frozen with Fear Chapter 7
LMK Wukong x Bao Li
Be warned: This chapter contains kidnapping!
First Previous
Bao Li opened her mouth to speak but the words kept getting caught in her throat.
A smirk cracked across Macaque’s face.
She was just too cute when she was nervous.
“What’s wrong? Don’t you like plays?”
“W-Well I do but-”
“Then stick around! Stop letting your fears control you.” Macaque insisted.
Before Bao Li could react, Macaque grabbed her hand and tried to lead her to the nest.
However the moment he tried to take a step.
“HEY! GET YOUR HANDS OFF MY WIFE!”
Macaque whipped around to find an absolutely livid Wukong staring him down.
“Ah! Monkey King! Come to watch the play too?” Macaque chuckled as his grip tightened a bit.
“Let her go! Now!” Wukong seethed. His eye glamours dropped, revealing their true ruby red color.
“Aw c’mon! What do you got against shadow plays?” Macaque chuckled, his grip tightening.
“We both know that’s not what this is!” Wukong growled, his voice ice cold.
Bao Li let out a startled squeak as she struggled to free herself from Macaque’s grip.
“Oh? This isn’t a shadow play, huh? Then tell me, what do you think this is?” Macaque mocked with a knowing smirk.
“Don’t play dumb! The gift?! The nest?! The stage?! The way you’re holding her hand?! You’re trying to court my wife!” Wukong accused as he fired a finger in Macaque’s direction.
“Me? Trying to court your wife? Whatever gave you that idea?” Macaque chuckled, “I’m just trying to put on a show for an old friend. But if she likes what she sees-”
BAM!
The ground shook as Wukong jumped in between them, causing Macaque to drop Bao Li’s hand.
Bao Li let out a whimper as she rushed to Wukong’s side.
“Wukong! I’m so sorry! I-”
Wukong’s face softened a bit as she turned to Bao Li.
“Hey. You don’t have to apologize for anything, peaches. Macaque’s the one I’m mad at. Not you.” Wukong reassured gently.
“Aw, are you sure about that? How do you know she didn’t want to see my play?” Macaque cooed mockingly.
“Because she’s mine, Macaque and there’s nothing you can do to change that!” Wukong growled as he stood in front of Bao Li protectively.
“Please, Macaque just stop! I’m happy with Wukong!” Bao Li insisted.
Macaque’s face hardened as his good eye twitched.
“Seriously?! After everything Wukong’s put you through, how could you still possibly love him?! He nearly killed you just the other week!”
Bao Li swallowed thickly as her mind frantically searched for something to say.
“Hey! That wouldn’t have happened if you didn’t run away like a coward!” Wukong snapped, his grip on Bao Li tightening.
“I only ran away because you were completely out of control!” Macaque countered as he snapped a finger in Wukong’s direction.
“I was out of control?! You were the one that kidnapped my wife!” Wukong spat as he pointed back.
“She wasn’t even your wife then! She dumped you! You forced her to get back together with you! Why can’t you just accept that she doesn’t want to be with you anymore?!” Macaque seethed as he flashed his teeth.
“STOP! JUST STOP!”
Both Wukong and Macaque blinked in shock at Bao Li’s outburst.
“That's not true at all! Wukong and I may have had some issues but we managed to sort everything out!” Bao Li snapped as she stormed over to Macaque.
Macaque tried to respond but his tongue felt like it was in knots.
He hadn’t seen Bao Li this angry in ages!
Macaque hadn’t felt such a mix of fear and excitement in a long time!
“I still love Wukong and that’s never going to change! So just leave us alone already!” Bao Li commanded as she put her hands on her hips.
Wukong’s shock swelled into pride as he let out a chuckle.
“Well, you heard her loud and clear! Bao Li still loves me! So get lost!”
Macaque simply let out a giggle. The giggle grew into a chuckle and the chuckle grew into full on maniacal laughter.
“Hey! What’s so funny?!” Bao Li huffed.
Wukong instinctively pulled Bao Li back to him as Macaque wiped away a tear.
“Ah, Bao Li. You don’t honestly expect me to believe that, do you?”
“Um, well… I kinda do, actually.” Bao Li replied as she rubbed the back of her head.
“You don’t sound very sure about that.” Macaque smirked, his eyes narrowed.
“What are you talking about?! Of course I’m sure!” Bao Li whined as she glared at Macaque.
Macaque let out another laugh.
“Is that so? Let’s put that to the test then.”
Macaque’s good eye gave off a purple glow as he snapped his fingers.
Bao Li let out a scream as she was engulfed in shadowy chains.
Macaque let out another chuckle as he hoisted Bao Li’s restrained body into his arms.
“LET ME GO! LET ME GO THIS INSTANT!” Bao Li wailed as she struggled against the chains.
Wukong felt his blood boil as he balled his fists and prepared to attack.
“Bao Li! GRAH! Let her go! Or else I’ll-”
“Or you’ll what? Attack her again?” Macaque mocked as he gestured to Bao Li.
Wukong backed away a bit.
As much as he wanted to free Bao Li he didn’t want to accidentally attack her again.
“Don’t listen to him, Wukong! Please save me-Mmph!” Bao Li was silenced by more shadowy chains covering her mouth.
Wukong’s fists shook as he gritted his teeth.
“Give Bao Li back to me. Now!” Wukong growled, his ruby eyes giving off an angry glow.
“Face it, Wukong! You don’t deserve Bao Li! You failed her! You left her to die twice! Do Bao Li a favor and let her be with someone who actually gives a damn about her!” Macaque snarled as he opened a shadow portal.
Wukong tried to stop him but he was too late!
Macaque had already slunk away with Bao Li in tow.
“No! NO! BAO LI!” Wukong roared as he slammed his fists onto the ground.

Hi! I would love to hear more about your lego monkie kid oc and their relationship to their F/Os! I don't know much about the show, but I'd love to learn more about it and how your OC fits into the story.
Now that I’ve finished Season 3 I can CONFIDENTLY ramble about Láng and his relationship with Wukong, Macaque, and Chang’e-
Gonna start with Chang’e first cause her and Láng have the least complicated relationship compared to Sunny and Mac! So quick context- Chang’e is a moon goddess who hosts this cooking show she broadcasts to the mortal plain. She is also the holder of this ring that unlocks this powerful weapon the main cast uses to defeat the big bad of the season.
Láng watches the show with Pigsy and very clearly has a little celebrity crush on the moon lady (Wukong is jealous but since they aren’t together at this point he doesn’t say anything). Anyway- Láng, Sun-Wukong, Pigsy, and MK build a rocket to get to the moon and retrieve the ring- not before getting caught by Chang’e though who thinks they stole her recipe book along with the ring (Pigsy took it to leave a parting recipe as a gift). Obviously Láng is starstruck and is a bi disaster towards Chang’e- but she finds this cute and Pigsy tells her that Láng also bakes! And since I also ship Chang’e and Wukong- I feel like they’d have this interaction
Wukong: Hey so- ya seem nice buutttt stay away from my man- k?
Chang’e: Ok! :D [flirts with both of them]
Wukong, also bi panicking: Wait-
Láng has a little communicator to keep in touch with Chang’e :3
Now Macaque!
They start off as enemies at the beginning of the season- obviously, Macaque is trying to turn them in to the Lady Bone Demon (big bad demon lady). UNTIL Mac says something that catches Láng’s attention-
“I’ve had my taste of dying before and yeah- wasn’t a fan.”
Láng figures there’s something more to Macaque working for LBD- but it isn’t until the two speak in a fanfic I’m writing Láng learns what’s what. I’m not gonna spoil it, but after their talk the two are- kinda friends? It’s complicated- but they’re working together in the season finale (plus Láng kisses him)
I also like to think after the events of Season 3 the two are living together
And now the main man himself- Sun-Wukong!
Sunny has probably the most complicated relationship with Láng, the dynamic evolving SO much! Originally in season 1, the two would casually flirt- Season 2, Láng shows to have care for the monkey king, straightening up his home and stuff- and then Season 3 happens-
Wukong isn’t entirely truthful to everyone, he’s a terrible mentor to MK- leaving him to learn how to get his powers back by himself- and Láng is just…stressed beyond belief trying to make sure Macaque doesn’t harm anyone. I like to think there’d be an episode, or a scene at the end of one where Láng goes off and tells Wukong how frustrated he is with him- obviously they’d make up by the end but Láng deserves to go off. During Embrace your Destiny the two would have a moment before the final fight where Wukong apologizes and Láng forgives him (and also kisses his dumb face :33) before the gang goes off to fight.
And in my hypothetical season 5 that focuses on Láng’s backstory and powers, they’d definitely be on better terms with Sun trying to be more trustworthy to Láng

People really act like it’s all on Wukong like Macaque himself didn’t jump straight on the revenge train after coming back to life. I adore Macaque as a character and part of that is being fascinated with how his actions changed in season 2 and 3 as he grew more and more desperate to escape LBD. He’s not completely victimless, and part of his growth comes from learning that there IS a point to fighting and living and thriving and that he doesn’t have to keep everyone at arm’s length.
I will say though that it’s also good to see Wukong accept the blame for his actions and apologize with all of his heart because he did a lot of careless wrongs too. Part of HIS character growth is becoming the kind of person who is even capable of recognizing a silly little fuck-up from a deep, damaging mistake that isn’t something you can just laugh about and move on from. I’m sure Macaque assumed he’d never grow up to be someone who knew he SHOULD apologize.
fuck people who victimise macaque and act like he did nothing wrong I hope he apologise to wukong first just to spite all of you
