This is a compelling interpretation. When it comes to Usopp, the concept of "false" plays a crucial role in understanding his destiny. I've long seen a strong parallel between Usopp and King David. Usopp isn't meant to be a "God" or a "True" figure in the conventional sense; instead, he represents the essence of legacy. Many question why Luffy chose Usopp to join the crew, but if we view Luffy as a representation of God and Usopp as King David, it becomes evident that Usopp is destined to be Luffy's voice when Luffy cannot speak for himself—the one who tells the true story of Monkey D. Luffy and envisions what it means to be a pirate.

Unlike most of the crew, Luffy and Usopp were the only ones who actively sought out the pirate life. The others were initially anti-pirate until Luffy brought them aboard. Luffy, whose duty is to protect his crew, sees something in Usopp that he admires, particularly his gift for storytelling. Just as David was brought to King Saul as an entertainer, Usopp serves a unique and vital purpose within the crew.

Certain parts of the fandom harshly criticize Usopp for not fitting the ideal Strawhat image, questioning why Luffy would keep someone they see as a liability. However, Usopp is the reason the Strawhat Grand Fleet was formed and why Luffy wasn’t turned into one of Sugar’s toy dolls. Luffy brought Usopp aboard because he recognized something in Usopp before Usopp even knew Luffy—Usopp was simply a friend.

People often wonder what Luffy sees in Usopp, and perhaps it’s similar to what Christ saw in David. I found it insightful when someone pointed out that Luffy was so quick to forgive Usopp after their dispute because he understood that Usopp's actions stemmed from his deep love for Merry (who could be seen as a Christ-like figure). David, too, was fiercely protective of his sheep as a shepherd, and yet God recognized the goodness in his heart. Some may argue that Oda might not have intended such depth, but it’s this very layer that makes the narrative of One Piece so meaningful. Usopp is one of Luffy’s closest friends, much like how King David was favored by God.
