sakurai seems like the type of guy to get so absorbed in his work he forgets he has like. bodily needs to take care of. like he just focuses too hard and then suddenly starts taking hunger damage

Gosh, yeah I absolutely get that impression too… I feel Sakurai puts the most effort in surface level upkeep, making sure he’s presentable to others and able to do his job, but stuff like needing to eat is more of a necessary nuisance than anything. Living on his own in Claw, I imagine he’s probably taught himself basic cooking stuff to get by but it’s just the bare minimum to keep himself going.

Even in regards to something basic as food he’d probably get bitter in the context of never sharing a meal with others, never having someone to teach him, etc etc. Thinks about making something, ends up working himself up into a bad mood for the rest of the day, gets onigiri at a convenience store instead.

Sakurai def had a lot of personal stake in Claw’s mission—I think he clung to its vision of the future as hard as he could to avoid getting swamped by his current, bleak present. Even after leaving the organization, I could see some of his bad habits definitely still lingering. Like man, Claw gets taken down and it feels like mere days later he already has the interview at Smilemart lined up. His work was the backbone of his life for so long I don’t think he really knows what to do with himself when he doesn’t have that. And in that vein, tries to avoid idleness whenever he can.

But basically how would Yusuke, and Ryuji (and Mishima if possible if not that’s also completely understandable) be around their very short S/O like 5 feet 2 inches tall or less level of short. Mishima

He finds the height difference to be adorable. You're his very cute S/O and he'll gladly help you with whatever you need. Even if you don't really need his help, he'll still offer it. Sure, a step stool would probably be enough for you to reach something, but he still wants to be a useful boyfriend.

Mishima is there to defend you if he hears anyone else saying some kind of short joke to you. Even if you find them amusing, he's still defending you because he knows those jokes can get old quick and doesn't want your mood to potentially sour because the jokes get old.

Yes, you might be his short S/O, but if you want to maybe play video games with him (please) then he'll gladly be your knight in shining armor in that too. He'll happily be your healer if you want to tank. Even if it is in a video game, he finds it so freaking attractive if you defend him despite your smaller stature.

Ryuji

Absolutely leans on you, placing his arm on the top of your head and little things like that to mess with you. It's all done in good fun and he'd never want to actually hurt your feelings, but he's the type of boyfriend to do that stuff.

Ryuji accidentally puts things on high shelves where you can't reach. It's legitimately an accident because he's just placing things where he's always used to having them. He didn't even think about the fact that you can't reach. He is amused when he sees you struggling but then he moves to help you.

He would be happy to pick you up and give you piggyback rides and such though. Even if it's not the best on his knees, he will still try if it makes you happy. Ryuji gets a bit flustered with the affection, but he'll still do it if you ask enough.

Yusuke

Yusuke doesn't intentionally makes short jokes, but he bluntly comments on your height now and then if you need his help to get something from a higher shelf. Again, he doesn't mean for it to sound like a joke, he just says it without thinking of it. Will apologize when he sees you're upset.

Despite the accidental insults, he doesn't really treat you any differently. You're his S/O and that's what he sees you as. That said, if he does have art on the mind then it is interesting for him to see the perspective change for you. Might ask you to take photos of things at your eye level so he can try some new painting idea or something.

Is a bit hesitant with introducing you to Futaba. She's also very small and the last thing he wants is for her to corrupt you and then he's dealing with two tiny gremlins, one being his S/O. If you're already a gremlin then he just sighs and deals with it.

Whumptober Day 1: Search Party

A/N: Hello! This year I wanted to do something more lowkey for Whumptober so I tried to keep these to 500 words, and even succeeded with some of them! So if you're wondering why my fics are shorter this year that's why.

Anamorphosis

Yusuke is hard to miss. 

It’s not just that he literally sticks out a few inches above other people, it’s how he speaks, how he carries himself. It’s attention-grabbing, to say the least.

So of course, when they ask the shopkeepers and other people who hang around the subway, they’ve all seen Yusuke around, but they haven’t noticed he hasn’t been around the last couple of days.

Yusuke’s all but vanished. 

Maybe someone else would panic at that, but not Ren. Most things can be solved by taking stock and going back to the fundamentals. Figure out what you know, and work from there.

And Ren knows a lot. He knows that Yusuke is easily distracted and can wander a lot of places. He knows Yusuke sometimes forgets to pay for his phone. 

He knows that there are monsters and portals to other worlds that can open up in an instant and make someone disappear. 

Possibilities that no one else would consider.

That’s why he and the others all agreed they would get back to Tokyo the first chance they got, because they knew the authorities couldn’t deal with it.

A week after Yusuke last sent a message to the group chat, They’re gathered in Leblanc and taking stock of anyone Yusuke’s been hanging around. The Metaverse proper is gone, of course, but there’s always parallels.

Sojiro and Sae can handle the traditional methods, their search starts with rumors and forums. There’s no thread worth ignoring.

“Hey, check this out,” Futaba says, moving her laptop so they all can see. The reddit page for Yusuke’s college dorm has a scattering few posts, but one mentions a creepy painting in the hallway.

I swear I saw someone touch it and disappear.

“As good a place to start as any,” Ren says.

He and Makoto go to the dorm and talk their way in by giving the security guard a version of the truth. Of course she’s noticed the weird art kid hasn’t checked in in awhile.

When they reach the hallway, they don’t find the painting. The plaque describing it is there, saying it was painted by an unknown artist and gifted from the Subaru City museum. It’s several decades old, but not much else is known about it.

Makoto asks a passerby about it, and they just shrug and say someone probably got rid of it.

Then they head up to Yusuke’s room, Ren picking the lock easily. 

Yusuke’s new dorm is the same kind of chaos as his old one, but thankfully it’s much bigger and comes with an actual bed.

There are papers and notebooks scattered around, and it seems Yusuke had been very focused on drawing the shadows they encountered in their adventures before, and a couple Ren’s never seen before.

A notepad with the words BUY SIM CARD underlined several times is sitting on the table, along with several names to get in contact with and phone numbers.

One is Katsuya Suou, a private investigator, so Makoto gives him a call and puts it on speaker.

“Katsuya Suou’s office, how can I help you?” 

Makoto nearly drops the phone. That’s Yusuke’s voice.

“Yusuke?” Ren yells. “Are you ok, what happened?”

“Ren? Oh boy, I’m very happy to hear your voice.”

“We could say the same,” Makoto says. “What’s going on, where have you been?”

“Wait, how long has it been?”

“A week.”

There’s a muffled groan on the other side of the phone. “I’m so sorry, the person borrowing my body didn’t know what a sim card was.”

At this point Ren’s not even going to question it.

“Do you need help? What does this have to do with the painting?”

“Ok, so that painting was a message,” Yusuke says, “I just can’t find the people it’s meant for.”

“What does that mean?” 

“It’s… difficult to explain concisely, I don’t understand it myself,” Yusuke says. “Something about that painting… you know what never mind. I wanted to have more concrete information before I called you all on a wild goose chase, but I’m getting concerned. How fast can all of you get to Sumaru City?”

“We can be there by tomorrow, why?” Makoto asks.

“Because I think a cult from the 90s is trying to end the world again.”

Hating on Ending D will get you nowhere.

Don’t underestimate it.

One thing that pisses me off about this stupid fandom were the reactions of the killugon fans once they heard about Ending D.

Nah cuz let’s talk about it.

These ppl are seriously acting delulu rn.

They weren’t too much before but now it’s just ridiculous.

I’m starting to see a reaction pattern here through this plausible ending:

1) Some are saying that Togashi said this as a joke therefore, he’s just fucking with us and hasn’t actually revealed anything.

2) Togashi will never use this ending because he scrapped it.

3) Togashi said that his personal favorite ending was Ending C but he said that the majority of the fans will hate it. So it doesn’t mean that he’s super ecstatic by Ending D.

4) This ending is way too shonen and cliché for him to actually use. Since it’s so basic, it doesn’t scream his style. Therefore, even if the ending happened, it wouldn’t feel real.

5) The fans who like this ending are problematic and homophobic.

I’m so sick of hearing these same things come out of their mouths so let me just clearly explain why this is all ridiculous:

1) Why would Togashi ever joke about something like his plausible passing and the work he’s been working so hard for which started in 1998?? The dude has never once joked around with the questions he received about hxh. He’s also been the type to spoil some people through interview questions too so if we follow your logic, that would mean he would’ve also lied about the fact that Kurapika and all the phantom troupe members would die.

2) We shouldn’t act so hasty when it comes to this ending just because it got scrapped. Togashi did say that he took it out from the endings he was planning on using but it doesn’t change the fact that he: a) actually took his time out of the day to think about the idea in the past and b) said that he’ll use it if his time runs out and if he can’t come up with a greater ending better than the three ones he already got.

3) Yes, it’s true. Out of the three ones we got, Togashi’s favorite ending was the third one, Ending C. So what? He said he kept it around simply because it was his favorite.

That also means he’s not so into Ending A and Ending B. An author doesn’t have to specifically use their favourite ending to end their series. They have to think about what the audience and what the majority of the reactions would be like to the ending they came up with. So since he estimated that only 10% of the fandom will like Ending C and 90% of it will hate it, there’s a very high chance he won’t even attempt at using it for the ending. Also, we have no idea what the ending is about.

4) The ending may sound basic and very shonen-like but so was Yu Yu Hakusho’s ending. Or rather the ending of the main character Yusuke. If you don’t happen to know, Yu Yu Hakusho was Togashi’s old work and in it, the main character Yusuke comes back from his adventures to marry a girl named Keiko, his childhood friend.

5) Did you ever stop to think that maybe some people just didn’t like killugon? Shocking, I know. We just plainly don’t like it. It doesn’t make the most of us homophobic or problematic in the least, stop trying to shove that dumb idea onto other killugon fans’ throats. Some of us are just not into yaoi and have tried to get into it but just don’t see the appeal (i’m personally more of a hetero and yuri fan) of it. Also, some of us would be delighted to see more female characters taking more major roles in hxh. It would be refreshing to see since the main cast is all filled with males while the females usually take minor roles like mothers, instructors, teachers, supporters for some male characters, (ex: Mito, Kikyo, Abe, Noko, Palm, Bisky, Coco Loo, Coco from Heavens Arena, Melody, Alluka) or are just in the background most of the time (ex: Canary, Amane, Tsubone, Shizuku, Machi) (wow these almost sounds like SHONEN ROLES FOR WOMEN).

“Hey!” Kazuma grumbled. “I don’t worry about everything. Only Eikichi and my beautiful Yukina!” He crossed his arms and then grinned. “But hey happy birthday!! That’s awesome!”

“Hmph..” Hiei huffed as he was pushed forward by the admin. “You humans and your trivial birthdays…” he looked toward you. “Congrats on living another year human…”

“...We gotta go in there?” Kuwabara lamented as he stared up at an old run-down mansion.

“The terrorists are inside there,” Kurama insisted with a nod, "We've got to go in after them."

“Supposedly inside,” Hiei added with a snort.

Kurama shot Hiei an exasperated look. "Our intel says they went inside!"

"Yeah two days ago! And they haven't come out, or at least been seen coming out. Sounds like they escaped to me!" Yusuke huffed.

“Or the house got 'em," Kuwabara mumbled.

"Kuwabara, chill. It's just an old house!" Yusuke sighed, rolling his eyes.

"But why does it gotta be so creepy!?” Kuwabara harrumphed, crossing his arms across his chest.

“It’s not creepy!” Kurama tittered, smiling back at Kuwabara with affection, “It’s just a run-down house. There are plenty of them in the Makai.”

"And this is the Makai... so this is normal," Hiei added, just so he could shoot Kuwabara a superior look.

“...It does look like the grudge lives here,” Yusuke muttered, taking Kuwabara’s side about the creep factor of the house.

"Thank you!" Kuwabara exploded throwing his hands up.

“The what?” Hiei asked, turning to Yusuke.

“The grudge! It’s a human movie based on cursed earth-bound spirits. A Yūrei,” Kurama explained with a casual shrug. He was packing up a backpack full of supplies that had been suggested for them.

“Humans are aware of spirits? I thought only a few were spiritually aware,” Hiei asked, sounding surprised.

“There are so many humans with enough spiritual awareness to actually sense ghosts, that that's how ghost stories came to be!” Kurama informed Hiei brightly, “We should show you the movie.”

“Ugh. No thanks. Count me out!” Kuwabara huffed.

“We should watch it, Hiei! I bet you won’t even be freaked out!” Yusuke cackled, “It’ll probably look like something you’ve seen before!”

Hiei tried to look bored, but his eyes showed clear interest.

“A movie is just a movie!” Kurama chuckled, “There’s nothing to worry about!”

“Grudge of no Grudge, this mansion is creepy. I don’t like all the creepy children in the windows!” Kuwabara grumped, rubbing the chills on his arms as he stared up at the mansion.

The group went quiet as they turned to give him their full attention.

“What… what children?” Kurama asked, his voice a notch higher as he tried to keep his tone even.

Kuwabara blinked and looked back at his friends. “All the creepy kids in the window? The weird stickers, or whatever.”

Hiei’s hand slowly came up to grip the hilt of his sword.

Yusuke had paled, and in an accusatory burst, blustered, “You’re making that up!”

“I’m not!” Kuwabara snapped back offended, “It’s a run-down building with creepy children stickers or whatever in the window! It’s why I find the whole place gross! I can’t believe we’re going to go in there!”

It was silent for a moment, and then Yusuke announced, “Oh hell no! I’m not going in there now!”

“I think I’d have to agree…” Kurama muttered, looking anxiously back at the building. “Perhaps if we wait around, the terrorists will just come running out by themselves.”

"Perhaps that's why no one has seen them in two days," Hiei muttered, glaring at the house, a hand anxiously clutching the hilt of his blade.

“...Not that I’m complaining, but why are we not going in there again?” Kuwabara asked bewildered by the sudden change of plans.

Hiei sighed with palpable annoyance, “Because, you idiot, we see no stickers or whatever you're talking about! If you’re seeing children, then it's ghosts! A building full of ghost children! Hell no are we going in there!”

Kuwabara’s jaw dropped, and he grabbed his arms as he shivered, “Ah shit! I hate my damn eyes!”

“I can’t believe you thought it was stickers?!” Yusuke snapped, “Fucking idiot!”

"The mind tries to protect itself by lying to us all the time," Kurama muttered while shaking his head.

“I see so much shit all the time I never know what to point out if something is off! It’s like that creepy painting in Koenma’s office. The one that stares at everyone! You never know if something is a ghost, or weird spirit world crap!” Kuwabara whined.

Yusuke, Kurama, and Hiei stared at Kuwabara in horror.

Kurama took in a long shaky breath, “...Kazuma… what creepy painting in Koenma’s office that watches us?”

Kuwabara paled, “Oh no… don’t say you’ve never seen it!”

“Kuwabara, buddy… you’re eyes suck!” Yusuke groaned sympathetically.

Kuwabara whined and turned away from the house, “That’s it. I’m not saying anything else! Let’s get away from here! Everything else is too creepy here!”

No one made any arguments.

while the premises of these individual plots seem a bit nonsensical im really enjoying the way decade plays with established lore to do both reuse old and do new things- getting to reuse old suits and kaijin, the directing and areas matching their shows, a new ryuki rider suit, playing with time vent, seeing BOARD be a real company. I’ll be real I’m making this post because the sequence of BOARD having to authorize the blade riders henshins made me so happy

theres a lack of self confidence despite appearances. when she is genuinely praised she gets confused. she does not consider the journey her real home, despite protagonists usually going My journey was the friends we made along the way. and granted it is probably because im not done yet and am only halfway done with what should have been a 50 episode season. but natsumi is still.. against her. in nega world she refuses to trust tsukasas words despite liking her quite a lot, choosing her old friends over tsukasas words instantly and easily. in kabuto world tsukasa asserts her selfhood obviously against the worm, and then the worm argues, and natsumi is visibly unsure

even between tsukasa and her first friend in the world she appeared in theres a fundamental disconnect

granted, tsukasa should have said "there are evil riders trying to kill me", but natsumi immediately shut down "something is wrong" with "Youre JEALOUS! that i found my world again and you didnt!" and thats just. unimaginably cruel *i love natsumi

tsukasa is bringing people together despite being an outsider, that she helps them bring their story to completion with their belief in her

and even then she's no one's home either. she can't even be her own home because of what's missing

i don't really like the concept of daiki having a home anywhere else either because daiki will forever and always consider her brother her home. she will always consider her home gone. something only in her memories

and yusuke knows his home he's just journeying

and yusukes home is his own world, with yashiros smile helping him go on a journey, yknow, like. Actual Kuuga

daiki's got a fixation on FREEDOM too

i think tsukasa is interesting cuz she asserts shes a destroyer (everyone tells her this, and she thinks she may as well lean into it), she doesn't feel joy the same way, she doesnt trust people, but she's "just trusting what yuusuke does". the thing is. the show is about her finding happiness. and trusting people. and people seeing her and immediately liking her and trusting her, and it's always that trust in her that allows her to help them in turn

shes just.. so dehumanized and feels so wrong next to those people that she feels like her joy is not theirs, that this trust must not be actual trust but "just going along with them" despite not actually being the case

it speaks to how disconnected she is.. literally dissociated from all of her own emotions and they manifest as a front of detached, airy confidence

tsukasa is immediately warm and someone people ARE drawn to in a way no other "smartass" category rider is

people get pulled into tendous orbit but it takes a lot for people to actually like him, sento is actually pretty hard to get to know because of her own identity issues. shes very similar to tsukasa in many ways when i think about it, though tsukasa isnt the same type of smart ass

but tsukasa has a front and a core and kindness to spare. tbh. even if she can be a dick sometimes. who isnt

tsukasa continues trying no matter how much the world tries to bring her down. and it draws people in to be around that

an unmatched, one-of-a-kind aura

tsukasa may feel empty but that emptiness is why she cant give up

Happy Friday friends! I had a blast putting my first BL reclist together a couple weeks ago and the lovely @blue-inigo encouraged me to do a part 2 so here it is! Once again this is a mix of Korean titles I’ve discovered recently and some good old Japanese BL I revisit often. I kept this short and sweet because I can only include 10 pics per post but I’m considering a Part 3 with some ongoing stories I’m currently following (there’s a couple on this list but they’re a bit more advanced). Now I’m revising it I realize this second list is considerably angstier than the first one, and almost all of these include potentially triggering themes (marked with an *) so please check the tags and stay safe! I’m so biased about Yoneda Kou’s Yakuza stuff, everything she creates is an instant fave

NIGHTS: A Yakuza comes to request the services of an specialized transporter that takes care of delicate and illegal merchandise. It seems this transporter is quite picky about his clients, stating that he doesn't belong to any group; you can't trust yakuza. However he gets interested in this transaction and in the mysterious man that is negotiating it.

REPLY: Seki is head mechanic at a car company in which Takami is the top salesman. After a chance encounter at work that involves Seki taking care of a spot of bother for one of Takami's clients, the two begin meeting regularly after work to dine together. Takami soon admits that he thinks of Seki as a good friend. Seki, however, knows that his own emotions are somewhat more complicated.

4. *Nights Before Night by Kazuki Natsume (Explicit, Completed)

Sequel to MODS, I suggest reading both for full context but I prefer this story

It's been a long time since Haru, owner of the gay escort service "Rain," left his yakuza days behind. But when the Ichijo clan, the group he had once belonged to, says he's the only civilian they can trust to hide the clan head's troublemaking son Yukitaka in line, there seems to be no choice for him but to follow suit. 7. *The Pizza Delivery Man and the Gold Palace by U-pi (Explicit, Ongoing)

Came for the hot guys, stayed for the excellent depiction of mental health issues.

Woo-won is a pizza delivery guy down on his luck, and Seo-an is wealthy man suffering from panic attacks and social phobia. You wouldn’t think these two would have any reason to get to know one another, but one small kindness leads to a series of encounters that bring the two men closer together than either of them anticipated. Maybe they can find the solutions to their problems together…or perhaps they don’t need solutions, but simply each other.

8. *Walk on Water by Jang mokdan / Jaxx (Explicit, Completed)

Two hot porn daddies actors falling in love 🥵

Starring in gay porn was never on Ed’s bucket list. He’s straight, he’s not an exhibitionist, and he has a decent career in security. That said, he also has a debt that he’s been working to pay off for years now, and he can barely keep up with the accruing interest. If having gay sex in front of a camera is the way to digging himself out of this pit, then he’s willing to be filmed for that money shot. Another problematic historical drama, good old master/butler classic

(This was literally the brainchild of what happens when you wanna give your friends and family expensive perfume but you’re broke so you make it instead! Also I’m one of those ppl that can smell rain before it rains so I’m someone who naturally has a sensitive nose (╯ ‿ ╰,))

Yusuke:

Top notes: sweat, hair gel and some cheap body spray

Bottom notes: whatever his last meal was, detergent, Keiko’s favorite perfume

I don’t care how old Yusuke gets, he’s a lazy dingus at heart and he’d buy the cheapest body spray and hair gel he can get his hands on because “it gets the job done”

Which is fair

He’s also the active type sooo…he gets a bit sweaty

If you’ve ever been to a dojo, dance studio, or any place full of people who’re training/exorcizing in some way, you know the smell of sweat never really leaves the room, let alone the people

Thankfully he does bathe from time to time so it’s never too unbearable

Now the bottom notes are admittedly weird but hear me out

You ever eat a big meal, take a food nap, wake up and still kinda smell what you ate?

That’s Yusuke

It just kinda sticks to him sometimes

It’s never really bad but you’re always gonna subconsciously know what this guy ate for lunch and it’s a little weird

The detergent smell comes from the fact that he trains/fights a lot

I seriously doubt Keiko or Atsuko tolerate the smell of Yusuke’s sweaty ass for longer than they have to so they’re gonna wash his clothes the moment it gets bad

And you bet your ass they’re using the extra strength stuff

It low key bothers Kurama and high key bothers Hiei

Demon noses are sensitive so they always know when laundry day has passed, much to their dismay 😔

Now why would he smell like Keiko’s perfume if he’s not Keiko???

You ever hug someone so hard you still smell their perfume/cologne? Or just hung around someone so much your clothes start to smell like them a bit?

That’s why Yusuke smells a bit like Keiko

All his friends tease him about this fact. All of them.

Basically Think of Yusuke like an odor absorbing sheet, cuz he kinda just smells like the people and places around him

Now slight spoilers here

Tbh it weirdly doesn’t affect his natural scent as much as you’d expect it to

He just tends smells like he lives out in the mountains by himself and chooses not to bathe often

Again, he’s a sweaty boy so for some reason his demon blood amplifies the natural musk in his sweat

I don’t advise being near him after a workout session if you have a sensitive nose

The stank is strong with this one after training 😖

Kuwabara:

Top notes: cat(in a good way), sweat, pomade

Bottom notes: cat(in a bad way), hair spray, cigarette ashes

Eikichi is his baby. Period.

He cuddles and pampers her on the daily so he’s gonna smell like they little kitty

She’s thankfully a clean cat so it’s tolerable

That being said….

If you’ve ever been around a cat owner…specially AFTER they’ve cleaned the litter box…

Yeeeeah….its not great

But that’s why it’s a bottom note

it doesn’t hit your nose hard or even at all if he’s careful but cat 💩 has a way of punching you in the face when you least expect it

Kurama:

Top notes: roses, musk(in a good way), vanilla

Bottom notes: musk(in a bad way), old wood, damp grass

This one’s a no brainer, the dudes main weapon is called a rose whip, of course he’s gonna smell like roses!

Tbh he just generally smells like the inside of a florist shop but rose is the one that sticks out the most

On days where he’s calm and melancholy though, he weirdly smells like you’re sitting in an open field of wet, dewy grass

That smell is always naturally there

But sometimes that’s all you’ll smell

Like he’s trying to erase even his very scent…but he can never fully do it…

He also smells like Vanilla!

Why? Because his mom used to make cookies for him a lot as a kid

Cute right?

She use to make them a lot because it was one of the ONLY ways she could get him to listen to her when he was little

Then after the accident that caused Kurama to begin to love his mother with all his heart, he helps make them

The smell of vanilla just kinda seeped into his skin

While he has made them a lot in the past, he hasn’t yet perfected the recipe

He noted this when his mom got sick and he made the cookies to make himself feel better

They just did not taste like the ones his mom make…they only smelled like them…

ANYWHO!

Like…really musky…

Sometimes it’s good, like it’s a very calming natural musk that, depending on who you are, is gonna be a very attractive smell!

…but here’s the thing…

He’s a fox…a fox demon sure, but still a fox

…you ever smell a fox…?

It’s not exactly the best smell in the world…

They’re often described as smelling “Musky and skunky”

So to give you an idea of what being around Kurama is like, imagine this…

Sometimes he smells like a flower shop that’s right next to a bakery 😌

Other times…he smells like someone who was hot boxing inside a hollowed out tree…and roses…

It was so bad when he was in middle school that there was a brief point that his family, classmates and teachers legitimately thought he was secretly smoking weed and maybe that was even why he was always so calm

Thankfully he was able to prove his innocence…but he still just naturally smells…odd

Demons just naturally have a strong smell (see Hiei’s section for more), but given that he’s living a a “human” in the human world, getting a sniff of him is always just jarring wether you’re human or demon

It’s like Yoko and Shuichi are in a constant war over what Kurama is supposed to smell like so he’s always striking the weird balance of smelling pleasant and smelling like he lives in a cabin full of plants and foxes

Hiei(and really all his other demon friends)is the only one that it never bothers

Everyone else is weirded out by it but honestly, you get use to it after a while

It’s an odd combination of smells for sure, but it’s calming

He truly gives the vibe of a chill man who smokes weed in the woods with animals, smell and all

Hiei:

Top notes: ashes/smoke, a forest after it rains, something akin to demon musk

Bottom notes: blood, sweat, brimstone

Let’s start with the nice ones

He smells like a forest before, during and after a rain storm all at once 😌

Calming but chaotic all at all once

Very pleasant ☺️

He’s also got a naturally smoky smell

Now that sounds good right?

Yeah it can be

But sometimes…that smokiness reminds you he’s not a human…

Especially when that ashy, Smokey smell mixes in with the natural brimstone bottom note smell he has

He’s a fire demon and his natural burning fire and brimstone smell is your first reminder/warning

He also smells like blood and sweat

It’s not always a strong smell…but it’s always there

The sweat is innocent enough, he trains daily. Training a lot makes you sweaty

The blood though…

He grew up with killing being a necessary skill you learned and he sometimes did it for fun

So after years of fighting and killing, the smells of blood and burning corpses is just part of his natural scent

A huge part of his natural scent though is also something humans won’t be able to fully comprehend

He’s a demon born and raised in the demon realm so he is gonna smell like the demon realm

Obviously if you’re human you’re just not gonna understand what that smell even is, but something in the back of your head knows it’s not “normal”

As stated with Kurama, demons naturally have a strong smell and Hiei’s is stronger than Kurama’s when you notice it

The closest a human could get to describing his demonic smell is this:

Imagine living with a wild animal that lives inside a volcano

Even then that sentence isn’t correct

There’s just not a proper way for a human to explain what a demon smells like

A demon though absolutely can though!

But they’re not at all helpful!!!

If you ask someone like Jin or Chu to describe Hiei’s scent this is how they respond…

“Oh, he smells like a fire demon!”

So helpful guys…

Asking Kurama isn’t any better but he at least TRIES

The way he explains it is a demon’s scent always delivers information

Species, age, sex, status, ect

It’s basically their ID card that everyone has access to at all times

And Hiei’s scent tells everyone “I’m a fire demon that WILL kill you if I deem it necessary”

And if you think about that…it makes sense!

Think about it

This little guy has access to a flaming dragon that’s composed entirely from the flames of the deepest pit of hell

MF basically smells like the inside of hell!

His scent is as aggressive and abrasive as he is

But if you get use to it, if you like it, it’s very calming

It’s a scent that’s constantly reminding you that you’re in the presence of a fire demon that could incinerate you instantly, but said demon is also a calm, quiet person that’s content with minding his own business in peace

Let’s talk about Emperor! Akira and Preistess! Ryuji

Akira -

Son of a semi famous actor and an unknown artist he’s still the same old Akira we know just a little more eccentric and open about himself and his feelings

His mother died of a heart attack whilst at one of her sessions with Madarame (he was her mentor) and Akira does not know this

His father left him with Madarame not wanting to live with the child who looks strikingly like his dead wife

So Akira is an artist in this au, although lately he’s struggling to find inspiration and Madarame is getting pissed

Madarame is definitely putting even more pressure on Akira to succeed so he can then make more money off it and him

Akira’s artistic endeavours usually comes from communication with his fellow students at kosei or the adults at the flower shop

So Madarame wanting him to focus more on his art forbids him to leave the studio after schools and weekends

Which then leads him to Haru and the gang, he’s met haru once before she did come to one of the exhibits before

They end up meeting at the Internet cafe they frequent and Akira recognises Haru

So he asks her to model for him, cue very protective Yusuke and Goro because they know how uncomfortable she might be

But she agrees knowing it might get the gang some information on Madarame

And the whole Sayuri? thing happens and shit hits the fan until he awakens his persona

Ryuji -

Our smart bean!! Ryuji comes from a prominent law obsessed family, his dad was an officer and his mother is a lawyer

his dad died in duty (much like makoto’s hmm something might be going on there) his mother works abroad so they don’t see her a lot (especially after their dads death)

It’s just Ryuji and his sister, Anzu (Our judgement arcana)

She’s his role model, straight A’s really good people skills and a little bitchy but he loves her she works somewhere in the police maybe like a trainer or something low ranked

Until she ends up working with the team on the phantom thieves case, becoming obsessed with making them stronger so they can catch them and she can be hailed a saviour

Ryuji then has to up his game, keep his grades high, keep his position as council president just so anzu sees him as something important

and so not only does the headmaster get him to look for the thieves, he’s so desperate to prove himself that he goes and does everything he can to expose them

which is how he meets and befriends the gang

he threatens goro and the other three and uses them to find kaneshiro (who I don’t think I’m going to change?)
