quick lost update (major spoilers), we’ve got three eps left in s2 and can i just say. can they stop with the FUCKING fridging. getting involved with a man is very quickly becoming the leading cause of death for the women on this island. like seems like rose and sun are ok bc they were already hitched but: shannon starts dating sayid and immediately dies, libby is gonna go on a date with hurley and immediately dies, and ana lucia fucks sawyer once in order to steal the very weapon that is used to immediately kill her like an hour later?? kate baby i need you to stay away from those men extra hard now. LIKEE. i need the writers to be fucking fr with me and stop killing the few female characters that we actually get.
#I wasn’t sad when shannon died lmfao but it’s the principle of it yk#especially since that was the most egregious example here#I’m most upset about ana obviously#esp bc the way they were writing libby was QUICKLY spiraling out of control lol#ugh#lostposting#op

Chimney didn’t cheat on anyone, but he lied to a women about who he was and got upset when she didn’t want to marry him. Sorry, I should’ve specified that in my last ask lol😂
Guess he doesn’t deserve to be grouped in with the cheaters though lol, didn’t think about how that might’ve sounded😅
Basically, all I’m saying is that they’ve all made mistakes things in past relationships (some worst than others, obviously lol), but most people only point out what mistakes Eddie has done and why those mistakes make him a terrible person in general because of that, while ignoring that other mains have also made similar mistakes in the past. So like, if Eddie is a terrible person for cheating, so is Hen and Buck. And if Eddie was terrible person for leading Ana on in their relationship, so was Chimney for leading Tatiana on by lying to her. Sorry for the confusion. I really hope this makes sense lol. Or maybe I’m just completely in the wrong lol, and if so, sorry in advance.
chimney made superficial mistakes. like he lied about cooking dinner for her to impress her because he was insecure 😭 he didnt lie about things that matter. and he WANTED TO MARRY HER. how is that leading her on.
and i feel like any normal person ever would be upset if their significant other didn’t want to marry him but jail for chimney i guess

thanks for your excellent answer!! not that the whole thing wasn’t good but:
why the fuck would anyone be upset that you’re being undiagnosed with your mental health condition?? that’s fantastic news, so proud of you and you’ve suffered for so long and all of us GET that is it not a weight off everyone else’s chest that one of us is doing better?? like it’s actually amazing I am genuinely so happy for you. giving us all hope imo
(I meant showing off to like. the pro-ana girlies yk? who for whatever reason want to look like me?? it’s been a Thing for most of my life since I was an adolescent in the late 2000s that I’m like. I don’t wanna be beating you at it or your goals or whatever I’m not even in your race!! I just happen to have a body that looks like this! don’t make me your thinspo kinda thing. sorry if any of that language is triggering. it’s something I’ve got a lot of pent up rage about and triggers a lot of depersonalisation for me, but I’ve never had my experience taken seriously. idk if you got that)
See I agree with you regarding my mental health. Unfortunately, during my recovery both historically and currently, I have learned that I have insecure, jealous and angry people surrounding me who would rather have me pulled back down to their level than allow me to attempt to pull them up with me. And unfortunately I have also learned that social media is a cesspool for projection (and that's not a judgement on any one person, we've all done it) so my doing better gives them fomo and makes them feel inadequate. I think this is especially the case because I don't have answers on how to be better outside of what's deemed as "neurotypical shit" (aka looking after yourself physically and learning what you can and cannot control) because the last and most prominent part of my recovery came all at once and without a trigger/event to cause it. Like I literally just did wake up one day and realised that I am not presenting symptoms anymore (to the point I worried it was a manic phase and waited until my psychologist and loved ones confirmed with me [without me bringing it up] that they think I'm good to finish psychology bar a recent session to be undiagnosed) after a moment where I told myself I cannot afford to anymore. So in many ways I understand the jealousy, but I really do hope that what happened with me brings hope and is the future for everyone and have had to accept that really, that jealousy has nothing to do with me so I cannot control it.
But yeah I completely understand where you're coming from regarding how people respond to it. I've also historically had a lot of anger around that (obviously when I was thinner - both healthy and unhealthy wise lmao). I would recommend making your weight posts unrebloggable so that the pro-ana blogs can't get to it and twist it into something else. But yeah unfortunately apart from that, all I can recommend is blocking asks and commentators on your posts if they try shit like that and just knowing that it's not about you. They're on their own journey and unfortunately some people's journey have not gotten past the 'other's journey's are not about me' step yet and they will react because of it. Just know so long as you're doing it for the right reasons and not being unreasonable (like for example, if I dropped 20kg in a week and someone commented on that, I'd take that into consideration because that's like scientifically proven not to be good for you, but me simply uploading that I dropped 0.5kg or that I exercised daily is not unreasonable if that makes sense), only your opinions matter at the end of the day.

it feels really pointless to send another ask, because it is clear to me now that we really have different perspectives on this. just wanted to point out that I never said that you said that her mother was lying, all the things that you said that I disagree with are in quotes in that ask.
the point was: i’ve seen lots of post arguing that we don’t know the whole story, therefore we shouldn’t talk about it - when that is obviously not the case, we know that her team hasn’t reached out. people can have opinions and talk about it. I’m brazilian, the same age as Ana and i’m also traveling to see Taylor - i can assure you i’m considering the person that they were, what her death means and who is responsible for this. that’s the reason why we are trying to bring attention to what happened and give support to her family. to choose to focus primarily on how this affects Taylor (and Taylor’s image, stan wars, whatever) is sad, in my opinion. and, again, these themes have dominated the posts here today.
we know she cares, but people are allowed to want action and acknowledgement (from t4f and Taylor’s team) and voice their opinions without being labeled as people who just want to criticize her. but like I said, we have different views and I don’t want to cause any harm - I just disagreed with what you said on that comment and decided to comment on it
I get what you’re saying anon and I’m not criticizing people like you. I’m more upset at people that are choosing to not give the situation just a little bit of time and let things play out and are instead adamantly demanding that Taylor or her team speak immediately on the situation and are trying to use it as a way to blame or “drag” her. And that shouldn’t be the focus, it should be on getting accountability from the venue and promoter, but so much of what I’ve seen on various social media sites is using Ana’s death not to remember or honor her, but to try to go after an artist she enjoyed. I personally feel that when Ana is mentioned in that way it is abhorrent and shouldn’t be done so that’s why I said I felt it would be disrespectful to her and her family. Not about people being like “I wish Taylor/her team would reach out/say something” because that’s a completely valid thing to want! We know historically how Taylor is when it comes to helping out fans and it’s okay to feel like her silence isn’t matching up with her past actions. I’m sure she so very much wants to provide some aid to Ana’s family, but is most likely unable to do so right now because there’s legal stuff involved. People are jumping to conclusions and acting like it is the end all be all when we literally don’t have all of the information. All we know is that Ana’s family and friends are grieving her loss and should be given time and space to do so.
We’ve already seen how people’s rightful anger has been turned into action with fans donating water for the shows and money to Ana’s family, things that they shouldn’t have had to do in the first place. I would love to see that anger and energy channeled into getting justice for Ana and her family and holding the venue and promoter accountable for her death and not squabbling over whether or not Taylor or her team has done something which is what I’ve seen a lot of it being put to.
I hope you have safe travels to your show and you have a wonderful time💗
#asks#anons#got something to say to you*#I think we both want the same thing: accountability for Ana’s death#I’m only focusing on that stuff because I’m seeing so much of it and I don’t think that’s what it should be about#I’ve consistently been saying I want the venue and promoter to be held accountable and that doesn’t really involve Taylor#when it comes to Taylor I’m more concerned about how she’s dealing with this because she must be feeling guilt#not really about whether or not her image is intact#sorry if I came off rude in my first response it’s hard to gauge tones#the way that you framed the statement about her mother came off as going at me since I had used the word disrespectful#and I hadn’t ever said that I didn’t believe her

OUAT Rewatch Report Part 6: Tallahassee and Child of the Moon, and Heart of Stone and Who’s Alice
I’m past the initial excited rush of starting a rewatch project, so I’m slowing down a bit. But I want to post the next set of notes before proceeding to the next few episodes, and I REALLY want to at least finish OUATW and s2, perhaps going as far as the whole Neverland arc. So here we go.
1. I’ve watched OUATW more recently, and also analyzed it TO DEATH in times past, so I generally seem to have less to say about it. Especially as it is pretty tightly written and doesn’t leave a lot of unanswered questions other than stuff that relates to regular OUAT. I love the tragedy of Will and Ana’s past as much as the pain and heartbreak, and also adore seeing tiny baby Millie Bobby Brown having way too much fun playing a creepy child Alice. And it took very good actors to really sell the moderately bad CG Rabbit as a character, and they really nailed it. Hot Jafar still managed to be hot and menacing while yelling “RABBIT!”, excellent job
2. NEAL. He doesn’t come off great here, all scruffy and barely getting by, but I’m glad he gets his shit together over the next ten years. And I mean, he doesn’t exist as a person in this world; there are no records or paper trails he’d need for things like drivers’ license and jobs. Obviously he managed to obtain these things to some degree, but considering that he started as a lost teen who grew up in a medieval fantasy world and then spent probably decades surviving Neverland, he’s doing remarkably well. And I like to infer from wanting to keep the dream catcher that he has all kinds of nightmares from his past. Also, no wonder he and Emma connected so well, they are the king and queen of abandonment issues; not that he would have ever told her much about it other than maybe “my mom left when I was a kid, and my dad left me a few years later”.
3. August, my dude, what are you doing. Talk about not coming off well. I mean, it’s ten years ago roughly, so it’s nice that in the present day he’s all “I fucked up I gotta fix this” but I don’t recall him trying to make up for stealing $20,000 that was meant for Emma. Anyway, I don’t think this was ever stated, but… he got instructions to break Emma and Neal up from Blue, didn’t he? It’s the only thing that really makes sense; how the hell would August know that being with Neal might take Emma away from her destiny, or who Neal was? This idea requires him to drop by Storybrooke once in a while and not be noticed by Regina, but that’s not impossible and he did claim to have been there before. And it also requires that Blue magically retained her memory, but that’s also quite plausible. She’s powerful and magic, she had the fairies making mysterious preparations as the curse was coming in, August went to her for advice or something before the curse broke, and we really didn’t get enough of her under the curse to say for certain whether she knew. And she’s also the only source for Rumple knowledge that makes any sense; August may have been able to coerce Neal with knowledge of his identity, but there’s no way in hell Neal would have given him a picture of the dagger, and although August is a lying liar who lies, he did say a little fairy told him about the dagger. (Well… he’s sort of a lying liar. Like I said before, I am pretty sure most of the time he just twists things around and talks very carefully so he never literally lies, he’s just lying in spirit) In my memory, the show never confirms or denies this, but I forgot a lot so we’ll see.
4. I would like Hook to stop hitting on Emma and waving his dick around; when he talks like that to her it upsets me that they end up together. Other than that, he’s fine. He’s clearly smart enough to use sincerity to gain Emma’s trust, and to deduce a lot about her from her behavior. And he also behaves like a dumbass sometimes, and I’m not sure right now whether that is him hamming up his Crude Pirate persona or what. I think he was being sincere most of the time so far, up to and including the part where he admits to being willing to help whoever will get him where he wants to go, obviously because he deduced that lying to Emma does not work.
5. (And now I am thinking about how August tended to be precisely truthful without being honest when talking to her, and then I wondered if she got her lie detection power because they shared the wardrobe or something. I don’t think it’s ever explained beyond maybe “she’s magic”, so it makes as much sense as anything to me.)
6. I have made it quite clear that I do not like the love triangle between Neal, Emma, and Hook, but I don’t believe they had planned to do that yet. It’s still kinda fascinating the parallels and comparisons they invite with this episode. Especially considering the weirdass things this show does, like Hook hooks up with both Neal’s mom and Neal’s ex, finds true love both times, and… everybody’s okay with this? And Hook attempted to raise Neal, and is currently trying to murder his father? (Part of me is just like. Well maybe Hook should stop beating around the bush and just go make out with Neal! …but no, pretty sure that’s the one thing that would be a step too far). OUAT you are so weird. Anyway. I think it’s interesting that Neal and Emma’s story was used to show why she wouldn’t trust Hook, and also why she was sympathetic towards the abandoned and frightened giant.
7. Another interesting parallel from the Obviously Wrong Viewing Order: two episodes about the heroine’s backstory in a row. Were they following an Ideal Storytelling Pattern or something?
8. I really like the character development Charming has been getting this season. I think it was a good move to separate him from Snow without just doing more relationship melodrama. I like how he’s shown using skills from being a shepherd to much greater effect than anything he knows about being a prince.
9. There’s a heavy theme of Parents in this season so far, and I haven’t quite figured out the best way to discuss and analyze that, but I have noticed it and it’s very interesting. We’ve had stories with Belle’s father, Charming’s adoptive not-father, Ruby’s mother, and Regina’s mother, as well as stories about Regina not wanting to be like her mother, and Emma and her mother figuring out how to connect and protect one another. I know there’s more, I’ll keep my eyes open. (Of course, OUATW is also packed with stories about everybody’s parents; it might be less a seasonal theme and more a whole show theme)
10. It’s interesting that Whale and Ruby got entire arcs in this season. Not to link them together gratuitously, but if memory serves they both conclude their arcs in the same episode (the next Victor one), and then they’re pushed aside a bit in favor of Neverland before gradually being mostly dropped. I just think there was fair reason to think they might have been important and connected, and wish I knew what the original plan was. They definitely got favored over most of the other minor characters, at least so far.
11. love Ruby basically being Charming’s right hand woman, as well as her quick friendship with Belle
Today I made a special effort to find a gif for each OUATW episode so far, all because I wanted to showcase the most apt one there ever was. Again it makes me wish I had the wherewithal to do full liveblogs with silly gifs accompanying, but that would be too much effort for me.

La De Da - Bill Wurtz
For: Underdog
Because: general outlook song. “you” refering to Taptap.
New Canaan - Bill Wurtz
For: Underdog
Because: another general outlook song. mainly put on for the hook (“The season is winter and the sky is blue - Every word I say is true”) and for the lines at the ends of each verse.
Habits - Tove Lo
For: Underdog
Because: mainly for the chorus, the “you” again referring to Taptap and Underdog’s ever growing sense of dread that is Taptap won’t be there for him anymore after he gets married. as previously established Underdog occasionally uses drugs so the “Gotta stay high,” part should be taken literally.
No Grass Today - AJR
For: Underdog
Because: as previously established Underdog uses drugs, then he got Babiey and because he now had to take care of another living organism he stopped. it’s kinda a positive song for him for once.
ES - Crying
For: QD (Adam, Queer Duck)
Because: general outlook song. somewhat explained here (knife & self harm warning). further put on by the fact you could easily replace ES with QD.
Flaming Star - Elvis
For: Gene
Because: general outlook song
Charro - Elvis
For: Gene
Because: loose backstory song. a big comfort song to him.
Oh Ana - m
For: Trix
Because: mostly for the lines about playing god, outlook song. Ana is in regards to both Samoa and Oscar, both of which dated Trix and both of which he manipulated.
That’s Alright - Elvis
For: Penny
Because: loose backstory song. bit of an outlook song. big comfort song.
Moody Blue - Elvis
For: Scotty
Because: Scotty’s view of Sasha early in dating. it wore off after a few years.
California Dreamin - The Mama’s & Papa’s
For: Scotty
Because: Scotty’s mood for a few years after he and Sasha broke up and he went to New York. take the whole season’s concept as metaphorical, he feels cold and lost and confused without her and knows he’d be safe and warm back in LA with her. he still sometimes gets into that mood. comfort song.
Dernière Danse - Indila
For: Sav
Because: the story of the real song is the main character gets broken up with and is left on the streets of Paris and is absolutely torn up about it. it’s about Mally, of course, he’s still heartbroken about it despite everything he went through, but the whole brewing storm concept can be more of a mix of sadness and anger and in general finally letting himself be upset about the whole thing.
Love Story - Indila
For: Sav
Because: The first verse is about Mally and how damaged he is from that relationship, the other verses are about Odie and his healing.
Full of Cheer - Home Free
For: Sav
Because: Full of Cheer is, obviously, the story of leaving a relationship around the holidays and feeling absolutely no sadness from it. happens a few months after Derènire Danse, after all Sav’s pent up emotions release themselves and he can finally be happy about getting out of the relationship. “I’m gonna save an arm and a leg this Christmas” can be taken literally.
Hold My Life - The Replacements
For: Mr. Wizard
Because: mainly for the fact of the chorus (“Razzle, dazzle, drazzle, drone, time for this one to come home. Razzle, dazzle, drazzle, die, time for this one to come alive.”). big comfort song, loose backstory song.
Run Around - Blues Traveler
For: Itchy
Because: general outlook song, comfort song.
Photograph - Ed Sheeran
For: Crimp/Oak
Because: mostly from the perspective of Crimp, through the choruses are mostly Oak. Oak is the most functional, sweetest relationship he’s ever had and Crimp is the longest and best relationship Oak’s had in a long time of course they’re gonna cherish it.
Yellow Rose of Texas - Elvis
For: Gene/Lucky
Because: gay and texan, both of them. this was also the love song that inspired me to give Lucky heterochormia, to match with the title line and “eyes are bluer than Texas skies above.”
The Eyes of Texas - Elvis
For: Stringer
Because: Stringer came from Texas to New York with a faked consent form, he has many anxieties about the whole of people he ever knew knowing he was there and judging him harshly for it.
Big Love Big Heartache - Elvis
For: Sav/Tennessee
Because: Sav and Tennessee’s romantic relationship was a series of one night stands and at-studio deep kisses while Sav was dating Mally. it was a very strained relationship and even they sometimes question if it was actually love or not. Nevertheless whenever they stopped it was a heartbreak.
Wilson - Fall Out Boy
For: Udog & Riff
Because: verses are from Udog, chorus and pre-chorus are from Riff. both are singing about Taptap.
Last of The Real Ones - Fall Out Boy
For: Riff
Because: general outlook song, comfort song. about Taptap.

For: Lynetta
Heartbreak Hotel - Elvis
For: Scotty
Because: comfort song. about Sasha
Trouble - Elvis
For: Shifty
Because: loose backstory song, previously an outlook song.
Devil In Disguise - Elvis
For: Shifty
Because: about Boston.
Can’t Help Falling in Love - Elvis
For: Shifty
Because: formally about Boston, would come before Devil in Disguise in a story. about Champion post-with relationship with Boston.
Riptide - Vance Joy
For: Itchy, Leo, Lynetta
Because: loose backstory song
Strawberry Blonde - Mitski
For: Kit/Running
Because: from Kit
Ocean Man - Ween
For: Aaron
Because: comfort & outlook song
It Hurts Me - Elvis
For: Biggie, Jerboa, Tennessee, Odie
Because: about Sav. the song in general is for all of them, any romantic kinda line is specifically from Tennessee & Odie.
Havana - Dodie Cover ft. Flashback
For: Hunter/Fox
For Now - Avenue Q
For: General Song
For Forever - Dear Evan Hansen
For: Shifty
Because: the most Shifty part of the song comes from after the branch “breaks,” at that point it’s when Shifty jumps out of Boston’s moving car, fucks up his arm, and Champion finds him. since the song up to then is a lie, you could take it as Shifty lying about his and Boston’s relationship.
Heart Heart Head - Meg Meyers
For: Shifty
Because: takes place after Shifty gets put into a hospital for his injuries. he’s left ever seeing Boston again yet is still always nervous he’ll be found and taken back. pre-chourses are about Champion, because at that point he’s already gotten a crush on him.
I’ll Be Complete - Blixemi
For: Aiden
Because: outlook song, right after he loses half of his face.
My Way - Frank Sinatra
For: Aiden
It’s Not Unusual - Tom Jones
For: Underdog
Art is Dead - Bo Burnham
For: Oscar
Because: outlook song, partly on his actions of Tennessee & Chumley and his views on Trix
Calm - Ordinary Days
For: Cupid
Don’t Wanna Be Here - Ordinary Days
For: Kit
Because: loose backstory song
Someone Gets Hurt - Mean Girls
For: Samoa
Because: about Trix, soon after he learns his real motives
Someone Gets Hurt (Reprise) - Mean Girls
For: Samoa & Oscar
Because: Samoa as Janis and Oscar as Cady. about Trix.
Feelings are Fatal - Mxmtoon
For: Taptap
Because: outlook song. about his insecurities of not knowing how to convince his brother he still loves him and will always be there for him and not knowing how to tell his fiance about his anxieties.
A Sadness Runs Through Him - The Hoosiers
For: Taptap
Because: most “him”s are referring to Taps, however from “He could not break surface tension,” to “But he couldn’t be saved,” are from Taps worrying about what Underdog could do to himself if he can’t be convinced Taps still loves him.
Don’t You Dare Forget The Sun - Get Scared
For: Oscar
Because: outlook song, about his actions.
Take It From an Old Man - Waitress
For: Shifty
Because: outlook song. also akin to advice he gave Sav soon after leaving his abusive relationship.
He Used To Be Mine - Caio Loki Waitress Cover
For: Sav
Because: outlook/regret song, soon after leaving Mally.
Hard Knocks - Elvis
For: Stringer
Because: loose backstory song, or rather how he looks at his past currently.
Teen Idle - Marina and the Diamonds
For: Underdog
Because: outlook song, loose backstory song
Highway Don’t Care - Tim Mcgraw
For: Taps & Udog
Because: Taps as Tim McGraw, Udog as Taylor Swift. plot-relevant song.
You Don’t Care About Me - Shakira
For: Samoa
Because: about Trix

…and should be concerning
im going to regret this and i know it

I’ve been sitting on this for a while because it’s an controversial topic, but I really need to get this out. I’m not sure I can sway anyone’s opinion here - after all, there are always multiple readings of fictional characters that are valid in their own way - but for what it’s worth.
Ana has, since 3x12 - Fools, gotten a lot of hate for being ableist. While I have read people’s interpretations and explanations on how what she said was understood as ableist by them, I have a different interpretation of the scene. I will explain in detail how I read the exchange that is most criticised. But first, the words themselves.
Eddie: I wanted to apologize for the other day. I was out of line and you didn't deserve that. Ana: You had every right to be upset. It's my job to look after your son and I failed to do that. I'm just relieved Christopher is okay. Eddie: Yeah, I fight so hard to try and protect him, I forget falling down is a part of life. Ana: It's supposed to teach us how to get back up, right? Eddie: Yes. Ana: There's a lot to be said for getting back on the horse, but there's also some value in learning that you don't like horses. Eddie: I'm sorry? Ana: Sometimes, our limitations tell us when to stop. But sometimes, they can show us where to look next. Today, he falls off the skateboard. But tomorrow, he writes the great American novel. Eddie: I know you said he was doing good in class, but... ( Laughs ) Ana: Okay, maybe not tomorrow, but... Eddie: Someday. Ana: Yeah.
Looking at this exchange isolated from the rest:
Eddie is the one who brings up “falling”, and he says it is part of life. He speaks in a general sense.
Ana then picks up on that and continues. This is a conversation between her and Eddie, her obviously trying to help Eddie feel better. This is not aimed at Christopher, and we cannot know what she may have said to Chris.
Ana offers an alternative here, basically saying: ‘When you fall down it sucks, but it doesn’t always have to.’
She says “our limitations”, making it a general statement that is true for everyone, disabled or not. And it sounds like she also speaks from personal experience.
I always found her words to be a little bit naively feel-good. Something you read on an inspirational quotes blog with a cute background picture - a bit too ‘poetic’ in their wording, maybe a tad cringe if you, like me, are not a fan of those things. But she does speak in a general sense that includes everyone and everything. She expresses what she has probably learned in her studies as an educator, and very possibly also simply through life.
Particularly children are very often set on wanting to do things their peers do, but not everyone has the same talents (something Eddie earlier in the episode explained to Chris - dialogue quoted below) - even if we’re only speaking about able-bodied children (or adults) now. It is important to teach children to accept team members even when they’re not as strong a - say - baseball player as others, but it’s also a good idea to offer alternatives before children start torturing themselves with something they’re not good at, don’t even really enjoy doing, just because they want to be included. It’s a fine line to see what each child needs in each individual case (encouragement to keep going or an alternative direction).
Of course, it would be ableist (but not always incorrect, and sometimes necessary for safety reasons) to approach a child with physical limitations immediately with the latter option, saying “Honey, this isn’t something you can do, try something else instead.”
I think this is what people are reading into that exchange, and I absolutely agree that this would have been bad for Chris. However, we never saw her have an exchange with Christopher. We absolutely do not know how she approaches such instances in her daily work. But the fact that she works as a teacher at an inclusive school and had formal training for this makes me at least assume that she wouldn’t, and that she would - as long as things were safe and approved by the school’s curriculum - be encouraging.
What people are, imho, forgetting here is that this was a skateboard a kid brought to school even though it’s not allowed/daily practice. “We didn't know one of the kids had brought a skateboard.” As I said, this is an inclusive school, and they probably have a well thought-out curriculum of physical activities that are suitable for all children to be done safely together. (which is implied in Ana’s next line, because if kids didn’t know there are things some kids shouldn’t do, that means they aren’t taught to view limitations in their class mates.)
The exchange continues:
Eddie: You didn't know? He could've broken his neck. Ana: I know, and I feel terrible. The other kids were showing him how to ride it and they didn't know that...[*] Eddie: Didn't they? No, let's push the kid with CP around on a skateboard for fun. You let them make a fool out of my son.
[*kids we CP shouldn’t do what they do, because that’s not what we teach them here, generally - my reading]
I’m frankly quite surprised why everyone latches onto what Ana said but doesn’t bat an eye at what Eddie said. He’s the one who immediately points out that Chris could never have ridden a skateboard in the first place. Which, knowing his son better than anyone, he’s of course right about, even though it’s a painful truth for all of them at the moment. And I’m definitely not saying Eddie is ableist, but he immediately assumes the worst here, assumes that, instead of this being an accident and misunderstanding, kids did this to Chris to make a fool out of him because he has CP. Isn’t that exactly what (unintentional and non-malicious but ultimately) ableist thoughts entail? ‘My kid has a disability, ergo other kids intentionally bully him’.
Eddie then has a conversation with Carla about the situation, and both of them talk about Chris’ limitations.
Carla: [...] I think you should talk to him about how he got hurt. I know Christopher wants to be like all the other kids, but... Eddie: You want me to tell him he's different? Carla: He already knows that. You need to teach him what it means. That he has limitations. Eddie: I'm not gonna tell my kid that.
What Carla says here is a) a similar choice of words as Ana - “teach” vs. “learning” and b) the same implication, that there are things Chris can’t do because of those limitations.
Eddie already knows this; he has strongly implied it in the last quoted exchange because his mind immediately jumped to the conclusion that Chris could never have ridden the skateboard. But hearing it like this now, with some distance to the event and having cooled off, it’s not something he wants to accept. And maybe even feels guilty for thinking it in the first place. And guilty for not telling Chris the truth.
Chris IS angry at his dad for “lying” to him, for always telling him he “can do anything”.
When they talk again, we get this:
Eddie: I know I told you you can do anything, and that was a dumb thing for me to say.
Christopher: Because I have CP.
Eddie: No. Because... Nobody can do everything. And yes, there are things in life that you're not gonna be able to do. And there's other stuff that you are gonna be able to do, but it's gonna be a lot harder than it is for the other kids because you have CP.
Christopher: I'm sorry. I won't skateboard again.
Eddie: It's not about the skateboarding. I just don't want you to be scared. You tried something, and it didn't work out. Maybe the next time it does.
I want to point out:
“there are things in life that you're not gonna be able to do. And there's other stuff that you are gonna be able to do / You tried something, and it didn't work out. Maybe the next time it does.”
& Ana’s “Sometimes, our limitations tell us when to stop. But sometimes, they can show us where to look next.”
This is the exact same thing, just worded differently, but even with an overlap in word choice. The writer of that script obviously did that on purpose, and I believe that purpose was to show a) that Ana understands exactly what Eddie struggled with and b) reinforce what Eddie told Christopher, mainly for the purpose that Eddie gets the same perspective from Carla and from Ana and doesn’t have to feel so bad about thinking/saying the same thing.
Ana and her words are an instrument to ease Eddie’s guilt and regret. In fact, I would even say Ana’s approach is more positive than Carla’s (or even Eddie’s), yet she is the one who gets all the criticism, and it frankly baffles me a little. It doesn’t baffle me so much that people assume or read potential ableism (on a very low, not reflecting on learned concepts way but ultimately without any malice) into it, but that they then don’t point out the same thing in Carla and Eddie.
All three adults obviously adore Christopher, feel responsible for him and want what’s best for him. So even if some of their thought patterns and conclusions, or word choices are rooted in learned ableist beliefs and patterns (in all three of them), none of it is done out of deliberate ignorance or even malice.
The thing is, if Ana were a real person, one could ask her how she meant what she said. One could have a conversation with her and see whether there really are any underlying ableist beliefs she has and didn’t realise. Seeing how Ana is generally portrayed, I’m very sure such a conversation would go well with her wanting to learn and understand. But we can’t do this since she’s not a real person. We can only speculate what she really meant, how she approaches kids with disabilities in similar situations.
She’s a fictional character, written by a real person, who very likely did not put as much thought into all the background info and potential implications as people in fandom do - simply because that would go way beyond their time capacities as TV writers. This was written in parallels between all three adults, to shape Eddie’s struggle as a parent and ultimately resolve it.
And then, of course, we get Buck who thinks differently than ALL THREE of them, because his mind just works like that.
Eddie, Carla and Ana see a problem and draw a logical conclusion, trying to make light of it as best they can.
Buck sees a problem and immediately jumps to alternative solutions.
I have read people say that Ana, as an educator, should be able to do that. But Ana is responsible for many children, has a curriculum to teach, and it’s simply not her job to think of alternative solutions for things that aren’t even part of the school day. Furthermore, if she had been able to think of such a creative, out of the box solution as Buck, then Buck would not have been special any longer.
It’s one of the purposes of this conflict to show a) how much Buck cares about Christopher and how integral he is to Eddie and Christopher’s lives and b) how special Buck is for thinking of things nobody else would have. Not even Eddie himself.
This turned out a whole lot longer than I intended.
I hope I could get my interpretation across.
To sum up, I believe what Ana said was in no way ‘worse’ than what Eddie and Carla said (in fact, Carla was most painfully honest and least solution-offering). All adults involved mean well and care about Chris. And Buck is the grand exception who comes up with stuff nobody else would have, ingraining him deeper as an integral part of the Diaz family.

Re: your meta this morning about that moment in Jinx (I'll forgive you posting something that isn't the mother figures meta just this once 😜) you unburdened some thoughts in me. Fair warning my tin hat is ON.
Jinx is such a........weird episode? Like, it's all humor haha and the firefam being dumb, but it's also the first major episode of Eddie's mini arc this season (which I hope will extend into a much larger one next season). Im always trying to separate what their script says and what their script means, and this one is a trip.
I'm talking about Buck-Eddie-Ana. When I rewatched the episode, the dialogue struck me like, "two people (Buck and Eddie) who are tentatively navigating the landscape of their shifting relationship, succumb to missed signals due to an outside force (Ana)." He meets Ana and i guess he's smitten??? Although it could just be Eddie's typical level of charming niceties. He tells Buck about Ana, looking uncertain and like he's gauging Buck's reaction. The only thing Buck responds with is "Christopher's pretty English teacher" which also....was normal ig but still felt weird to me. And then we never get the end of that conversation. We never hear Buck's thoughts about Eddie dating Ana. What!?
And back at the station, Eddie and Buck seem like their engaging in some sort of wordless game of chicken with that love languages fiasco, until Eddie has to cave and tell the team about Ana. And once again, we never hear Buck's thoughts about Eddie dating Ana. Buck, who arguably holds the most important opinion for Eddie, neither affirms nor denies.
And then! At the end! When Eddie leaves to meet Ana! And the camera shows us Buck's face....and he's confused! The implication here being Eddie did not consult with Buck about this date. He did not tell him period. Which begs the question: why? They share everything. They're best friends. I would have grilled my bff if I was in Eddie's shoes.
It's just so WEIRD. It felt like Buck and Eddie were trying to clock each other the entire episode and either just could not get on the same page or missed the point entirely. I wouldn't be so upset about it if this pattern of Buck and Eddie pointedly not talking to each other about these complex and important moments in their lives didn't carry on throughout the rest of the season. Anyway. I am so sorry this got so long. I had to come out of hiding at Tim's house to comment bc I love this.
Hi friend, so glad you forgive me 😂 You are onto something here…I know you’re thinking about Jinx, but now I’m wondering…when was the last time we saw Buck and Eddie converse onscreen about their romantic partners or love life in general?
I can only really recall their talk about Shannon and how sex complicates things in season 2. Of course in Fools, Buck teases Eddie about snapping at Ana so it’s implied that they talked about her/the situation, and in Jinx he recognizes the name, but we never saw them really talk about Abby or Shannon or Ali (and now Taylor and Ana). Of course, in season 3 it was important that they were both single and working through some things, so love interests weren’t there, and they can’t be discussed if they aren’t there, but…we didn’t even see conversations about previous relationships.
It’s just an interesting contrast to Hen and Chim, Hen and Athena, Bobby and Michael, Buck and Bobby, etc etc. Of course, they are best friends and they discuss important things having to do with the job and with Chris and with their mental health, but they seem to be the only friend pairing that doesn’t spend a lot of time discussing their love lives. Obviously they talk about it off screen sometimes, but..why do we never see it?
You’ve given me much to think about as always @kitkatpancakestack thanks for leaving your post at Tim’s house to come and visit with me!

yesssss, I'm still trying to recover from the finale... Can you do an story w Eddie pining for Buck after his break up w Ana? Like he releaized his feelings for Buck after getting shot and almost dying but Buck is together w Tyler? Please and thank youuuu
AN: Sorry, this got away from me and I wrote more than I thought I would! Thanks for the great prompt, I really loved it but wasn’t sure where to take it, so a lot of this is Eddie’s internal thoughts. Hope you still like it!
Eddie hadn’t meant for it to go on for as long as it did. Truly, he hadn’t – time had a funny habit of slipping away from him as of late; in his recovery, what mattered most to him was getting himself back to normal – or as close as he could ever return to, given what he had been through – and keeping life as stable as possible… for Christopher. No big changes, no upsetting surprises.
That thought did little to ease the lingering sense of guilt, though.
It had been only a few days since Eddie finally sat Ana down to, as delicately as he could, say that their time together was coming to a close.
She had been so lovely about it, too, because that was her nature and it had made having to break it off worse, almost. Ana was kind, sweet, understanding – perfectly nice – and, for all those reasons, she deserved better, a lot more; someone who was completely in it for her, as invested in her as she was in them. He didn’t always realise it, but he knew for a while before he broke it off that he couldn’t be that person for Ana. In time, another would be. He was sure of it.
He had felt, much to his embarrassment, tears burning his eyes as he explained to her that he entered a relationship with her for the wrong reasons… and that he had so much to figure out about himself. She had clasped his hand in hers, gave a watery smile, and told him that she understood; she had even reassured him that it was all okay and he didn’t need to be too hard on himself over it. It was the most amicable split he could’ve imagined happening. With guilt, came the sweetness of relief, an acute light feeling that he didn’t notice was missing for the longest time.
And then, once that was over and the dust had settled… he was free. Free to… wallow, he supposed, in what he had realised weeks ago, because there was nothing that Eddie could do about it.
He remembered how it felt, being disoriented, in pain, slipping from consciousness, with those blue eyes boring into his, wide and frantic, as Buck fought hard for him, for his very life. How it felt afterwards seeing his face come into view from around the corner, smiling at him with such a genuine and unfiltered joy. Warmth, safety, and happiness – because Buck was family, that much he had decided to make official in a legal tie a year ago.
It was the overwhelming feeling of love, and relief in seeing him safe, unharmed and by his side the first chance he got, that sent Eddie’s mind reeling and down a path he couldn’t back out from. Buck was all of that to him, and more, and the feeling of longing had burrowed into Eddie’s mind, becoming a nagging and persistent sensation that made him feel… sick, flustered, and even morose.
Love – romantic and sexual love - for Eddie had always been a struggle, had wound up feeling oddly unnatural, as though he was following the expectations of others, or his own idea of familial obligation, rather than his own heart. He was chasing something that, by all accounts, should have felt right, but with Ana… and even with Shannon, it was wrong; it all fell flat in some way. Finally becoming aware of the different light in which he saw Buck in was like a piece of himself just clicking into place; he felt whole, finally.
It was more than a little inconvenient, though, realising that he was in love with his best friend… someone that he happened to see pretty much every day, either at work or off shift. His very straight, very happily coupled up best friend. It was a lot to wrap his head around.
Of course, Eddie was being very mature about it, something he could find a small bit of pride in – because he knew he needed to get over this, to respect Buck’s happiness, his relationship with Taylor, and not ruin their friendship by foolishly expressing what he really wanted. That was the respectable, adult thing to do. So, he kept his desire quiet, and he tried his best to be the good, supportive friend Buck knew him to be, but… in a small way, he had pulled back; he knew he had. Sometimes, Eddie was allowed to act to protect himself; allowed to be a touch selfish. To get over it, he needed a bit more space than usual. It was only fair.
“Eddie,” came Hen’s voice unexpectedly; he picked up instantly on the concerned undertone.
From the corner of his eye, he could see her furrowed brows and the frown lines on her face. He wished people would stop looking at him like that – like he was to be pitied, like he was still injured and helpless. The whole team all went through their fair share of ordeals… it seemed part of the job description, but there was something about the sniper targeting them that unnerved everybody more than anything else that they had faced before. It had struck Eddie’s core, too, and brought up a lot of ugly, old wounds - he was giving therapy another try because of it… and it was going better than it had before, to his surprise.
It had been months since he was shot, significant progress had been made, but there was still an unspoken tension in the firehouse at times. It was especially bad with Buck – he had pulled closer than ever, always happy, eager even, to offer his support and help in… everything, which made Eddie’s need for maintaining some space between them all the more difficult. It also gave him a sliver of hope, and that was a dangerous thing. He had grown too dependent on Buck; he had someone else to share him with now, he thought with a pang to his chest.
“Yeah?” he returned tiredly after a delay, still staring ahead.
His gaze was fixed on where Buck was sat a small distance away with Chimney by his side, his head thrown back laughing in a moment that ought to be captured in a photograph – oh, and how that beautiful, jubilant sound leaving his mouth twisted mercilessly at Eddie’s insides.
“You’ve been moving that piece of pasta around your bowl for the last ten minutes.”
“… So I have,” he sighed, letting his fork clatter against the plate in defeat.
He’d barely touched his lunch, but his appetite had been culled. Buck’s voice was loud – it carried effortlessly across the room. So, he easily overheard Buck responding to Chimney bringing up the topic of Taylor, and it was… embarrassing, the impact it had, how easily it soured his mood.
“Is that all I get? It’s ‘going well’?” Chimney exclaimed, nudging Buck’s side, a teasing grin on his face. “C’mon, Buckley. We usually can’t get you to shut up.”
Buck laughed bashfully and lifted his head up, almost catching his eye, but Eddie averted his gaze just in time to miss it. He could’ve sworn that he caught the sight of Buck’s smile faltering. He shook his head, working to tune out that conversation as best he could.
“You know… it’s okay to need more time. If you’re not ready to be back yet, no one will think less of you,” Hen suggested hesitantly, voice soft.
“No, it’s-- not that. I’m glad to be back. This is where I need to be,” he said simply.
Eddie didn’t like where this conversation was headed – but none of it broke through to his expression, and so Hen pushed on, sympathy etched into her features.
“Then… tell me what’s bothering you? You seem down, Eddie – a lot, lately – and I can’t sit here and act like I’m not worried.”
Had it really been that obvious? It was like he, a man in his thirties, had been rendered a hapless, lovestruck teenager – with how he let his feelings for Buck affect him so obviously that Hen had not only noticed but grown worried for him. It was so tragic he could almost laugh.
“Mm, I have a therapist for that,” he said with a wry smile, but instantly regretted it as he saw how Hen leant back in her seat, lips twisting into a frown.
She was trying to help, to be a good friend, and he was dismissive of her attempt right away. His tendency to try to avoid more heavy, emotional talks was one of the issues brought up in therapy and he really was working on it, but it felt impossible, in that moment, to tell the truth, to speak the words aloud to somebody else. Even though he knew Hen would, without a doubt, understand and keep his secret for him – that it might even help for her to know, as awkward and humiliating as it might be at first.
“Sorry. I just…”
“Don’t worry about it.”
He dared to look back over to the corner where Buck was – now, he was showing Chimney pictures on his phone, which were undoubtedly of him and Taylor. Jealousy welled up inside of Eddie, burning hot, and another sigh fell from his lips as he lifted a hand to run down the side of his face. It wasn’t getting easier, only more frustrating.
When he glanced back at Hen, she was already watching him, an odd look on her face, eyes slowly widening. Realisation had already dawned before he could interject and divert the conversation.
“Wait. You-- Buck--?” she started.
Panic enveloped Eddie and, before she could go any further, he abruptly sprang to his feet, hands clasped together.
“Coffee?” he asked loudly.
Without waiting for her to give an answer, he made his escape, darting over to the countertop where the coffee pot was located. After a short pause, he noticed that Hen had made no effort to follow him, because – of course she hadn’t. What was he expecting? Her to run after him, get him into a headlock until he confessed to the revelation that he had that he was head over heels for Evan Buckley? No, this wasn’t a playground. He needed to get a grip.
His shoulders slumped as he expelled a heavy breath out into the air. He gave himself another moment, to allow his heart to stop pounding wildly in his chest, before leaning up to grab a clean mug from the cabinet.
“That was awful,” he muttered to himself, swiping his favourite from the shelf.
“What was awful?” asked Buck, suddenly, appearing at his side.
“Oh, God,” Eddie jumped, and the mug almost slipped from his fingers and fell to the floor.
Catching it and clutching at it, Eddie gave a breathless laugh.
“Nope, just me,” Buck countered, popping the ‘p’, with a toothy grin on display that caused Eddie’s stomach to start doing flips. “Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you.”
Eddie’s expression softened, the hints of anxiety vanishing from his face as he lowered the mug to the surface. He reached for another, automatically, eyes still on Buck. He really was beautiful to look at, all bright, excited eyes, soft dark blonde curls, and crooked smiles – and what was most unfair about it all was that his good looks weren’t the most beautiful thing about him by a long shot.
“I’ll let you off the hook,” he grinned.
Buck leaned forward and his shoulder brushed against Eddie’s, sending a jolt through him that made him step back, the contact quickly lost. Fortunately for him, Buck didn’t seem to have noticed anything.
“So, anyway, I was wondering – you got any plans tonight?” Buck asked cheerily.
Eddie was slow to smile again, but he did, because he knew what he was about to do – give in, so easily. Space was important, but… so was spending quality time with loved ones. He could practically hear his therapist’s voice offering him encouragement.
“I think I have a spot open in my schedule,” he said slowly, giving the impression of nonchalance.
“Great! What do you say to joining me and Taylor out for drinks tonight? You could bring Ana. I think it’d be good for them to start to get to know each other better, don’t you?”
Eddie’s heart sank in his chest, eyes closing for a few seconds before he plastered a placid smile to his face. Disappointment was such a bitter taste, and… he really needed to get around to telling him about Ana. Even if he and Ana were still together and he could agree to this double date, the thought of watching Buck and Taylor together for a whole night… well, he could think of a long list of things he’d rather do instead.
“Actually, I don’t think I can – I don’t know how it slipped my mind but, after my appointment, I promised Christopher that I’d spend the night with him…”
He felt bad using his own son, someone Buck loved dearly, as a shield, but it had to be done – Buck wouldn’t question anything if it was done for Chris’ benefit.
Buck’s smile strained, and there was a look in his eyes that Eddie couldn’t quite place. He dropped his gaze to the floor, and Eddie caught his lower lip between his teeth.
“Well, what about next Friday?”
“I can’t—”
“Man, I… Eddie, have I done something?” Buck interrupted; brows knit together in worry.
“Sorry?”
He looked vaguely embarrassed – and was that a pink tinge to his face? Surely not. No, Eddie was seeing things he wanted to see. He didn’t want to play that guessing game anymore, reading into every little interaction they shared, for some kind of sign. It was exhausting.
“It’s just… I don’t know, you’re a lot busier than before, maybe, but things are definitely… different. I—miss you,” he admitted sheepishly.
Clearly, this had been bothering him for a while now, and Eddie felt stupid and cruel for ever thinking that Buck wouldn’t notice that he was limiting their time together, even if only by a relatively small amount.
“Things are different,” Eddie explained carefully, trying to figure out his wording. “It makes sense that we, er, aren’t spending as much time together, because…”
Buck waved a hand.
“I know I’ve got Taylor now and you’ve got Ana, but that doesn’t mean that—”
“Buck, I ended things with Ana,” Eddie cut across impulsively.
There was an incredibly still moment that followed, and a tense quiet descended upon them, the only sounds the muffled comings and goings and odd background chatter from their other teammates. Buck’s lips parted and he appeared to be frozen as he slowly computed this information, and Eddie was almost scared to move – to break the spell.
It was getting alarming, and Eddie was about to wave a hand in front of his face, until finally he returned to reality, snapping back with a quiet and bemused, “Wait, you did what? … Why? You two seemed so happy. I thought you… that’s why…”
Eddie shifted uncomfortably, taking in a breath as he turned to properly face Buck again, making direct eye contact. Buck wet his lip, a crease forming in his brow. Eddie wanted nothing more than to know what was going through his mind, but he was at a loss this time. Usually, he could read him so well.
Eddie shrugged – an attempt in vain to still appear casual. He knew he was way beyond that point now.
“I realised she wasn’t the one for me. And… I know everyone says it, and us first responders more than anyone, and we still sometimes forget to actually live by it… but life really is too short to spend with the wrong person. I owed it to her, and to myself, to end it.”
Buck blinked rapidly, and, really, Eddie couldn’t understand why this was all coming as such a shock to him. Had he really expected he and Ana to go the distance? For him to settle down with her?
“Eddie…”
“Yeah?”
Then, the wailing of the siren pierced through the air; whatever question had formed in Buck’s mind would have to remain there, until another time.

Why I have more chemistry with my laptop than Eddie has with Ana Flores... Although they’re not that hard to beat!! [ANTI-EDDIEANA RANT]
I’ve been meaning to make this post for a while honestly, something about her just rubs me the wrong way. It has since her character was introduced and she is totally wrong for Eddie. This is going to be a very detailed list for all the reasons they are wrong for each other.
1. Ana’s introduction:
Firstly, they introduce her as Christopher’s teacher who carelessly let Christopher get hurt. Okay I can hear the angry mumbles already but hear me out, a child was able to bring in a skateboard to school, they were able to form together where Chris decided to get on the skateboard, and he rode on the skateboard long enough to get injured... all before Ana even noticed? That doesn’t sit right with me. Anyways, Eddie yells at Ana about the skateboarding incident and later apologizes, and that’s that. We don’t see or hear of Ana for the rest of the season, which is why it is even easier to just forget about her.
2. eDuMoNdO
Let me just barf real quick, I don’t even need to make this one long. It was such a big deal in 2x01 that Eddie likes to be called Eddie and goes on to say how he doesn’t want any nicknames, he’s just Eddie. Correct me if I’m wrong but i’m pretty sure Eddie even said to her once that he preferred Eddie and she just ignored him. Also the way she tries to add an accent to it makes it even more cringe.
3. There was no purpose of reintroducing Ana in season 4 just for them to be romantically together all of a sudden??
The fact that they decided to date now that Ana is no longer Chris’s teacher just doesn’t sit right with me. Like what is Eddie thinking? Also we totally forgot about Ana and they have no chemistry, why did they need to make them a couple?
4. The relationship moves so fast and is so cringe tbh
Let’s start with the cringe: the math flirting, omg that was absolutely disgusting to watch and I had to skip through it. Whoever wrote that scene, please reevaluate that. Also, I feel like Eddie is this completely new person when with Ana (he turns into Edumundo instead of Eddie), the fact he only went on a few dates with Ana before telling Christopher about her and even going as far as to bring her over DURING A PANDEMIC. Like what???? He has been so careful about the regulations as it was said an episode about how they were all quarantining together in order to keep their families safe and he’s just going to bring Ana over.
The most terrifying one is in the same episode (4x08) after Chris was verbally upset about Eddie dating again, instead of checking on Chris, he called Ana. Like I get it, you wanted to let Chris calm down but it was obviously something that messed with him a lot because Chris never throws tantrums like that. Not only that, Chris was able to steal his phone, call an Uber, and get to Buck’s apartment before Eddie realized he was gone. That is so out of character for Eddie.
There is more but I cannot think of anymore right now, I truly hate their relationship.
#anti eddieana#buddie#i will never get over this#petition for buddie#manifesting that they breakup#they are so wrong for each other#eDuMuNdO#Eddie Diaz#Free my boy Eddie Diaz

I think we agree McCree has some lines towards his female teammates that’d earn him a shove.
To widowmaker- Don't like shooting a lady. But for you, I'll make an exception. (this is when McCree manages to kill widowmaker ingame)
To Pharah- Just remember Pharah, we ain't playing with toy guns anymore (She responds positively saying she’s better with a real gun)
and not to mention his condescending attitude to Ashe.
With the cowboy persona he’s built up It’s easy to see this as him being sexist. Understandable but we also need to put these lines into perspective with his story, morals and connections to these characters, let’s start with Pharah’s as it’s the easiest to decipher.
Jesse was 17 when he was brought to Overwatch, Fareeha was 13 and was a frequent visitor of the overwatch bases her mother was stationed at, it’s likely that she met Jesse at one of the bases during his preparation to be officially drafted as an agent and from the brother/sister dynamic they’ve presented at times in the present time of the game, it’s safe to say they got close when they were young. Since Fareeha idolized her mother at this point she most likely wanted to learn to shoot, Jesse had a bit of responsibility in his teenage mind and either bought toy guns himself or Fareeha already had some and he just taught her to shoot with them.
When Fareeha became older she began to learn how to use the real thing as evident by this spray below, depicting her as a young adult at a shooting range. (I’m unsure if the combo of this spray and McCree shooting next to her is an actual canon event so im going to assume he wasn’t shooting with her)
Jesse was being taught by Ana so Fareeha most likely had to teach herself and with Jesse now a full blown agent, he was too busy to see Fareeha and she probably stopped coming to visit her mother when she was refused a spot as an overwatch agent. Jesse saying that they’re not using toy guns anymore is probably a callback to the fun they had running through the halls of the base shooting rubber and foam darts at anyone they came across and he wants to make sure that his new “sister” is ready, Pharah’s reassurance is just her telling Jesse he’s going to see what’s she’s learnt.
Now let’s look at what he says to Widowmaker; Amelie’s husband Gerard was a good friend of the overwatch team, McCree had the chance to know him as he was Gabe’s ward and most likely had to stand by at meetings that Gabe had with Gerard so the two having met was inevitable. Jesse had respect for Gerard and helped get vengeance for him in Venice when he was hurt, but while he had respect for Gerard, Jesse probably doesn’t hate Widowmaker for that reason so what other reason would he have to dehumanize her and see her as someone who deserves to die?
Gabe and Ana. Widowmaker had managed to wound Ana and it made her go into hiding, Jesse lost someone he respected and looked up to, and then she began working with Reaper, Gabriel, Jesse’s teacher and father figure, the person who saved his life. Widowmaker became someone Jesse saw as an enabler of Gabe’s spiral into the darkside. To him this woman destroyed his family, the people he relied on, she killed and corrupted his mentors. Yes Jesse’s comment is sexist but it isn’t about her gender, it’s about her actions and what she did to him, he doesn’t know Amelie was brainwashed, he sees her as a traitor just as much as Gabe.
And now for Ashe. The BFF, the supposed old flame, the OG sister.
Ashe and Jesse were literally thick as thieves, they were extremely close and there seemed to be lingering attraction at times since in the Deadlock novel Ashe had made Jesse blush at one point, Ashe was the first person Jesse supposedly cared about and she cared about him.
When Jesse got arrested, he was rehabilitated, he saw the benefit of being a helpful person rather than harmful and changed his tune completely. From what I can assume and how they talked in Reunion, Jesse did return to deadlock gorge at one point, most likely to talk Ashe out of her illegal business, tell her she doesn’t have to be a criminal. This obviously led to them falling out and Jesse having to run away to avoid being killed, having only small run-ins with her and the gang which always ended up with Ashe losing her cool and starting a fight. Jesse gave up on trying to get Ashe to see reason and the friend he used to know was now just a spoiled brat who was upset she wasn’t getting her way, causing him to lose any romantic attraction he had towards her if him blushing in the novel was any hint of him feeling anything toward her.
Jesse does still care about Ashe, while Ashe threatens and demeans him, Jesse does make offers for them to just make peace and asks how BOB is doing, he wants things to be civil between them at the very least. Jesse does make jabs at Ashe but they’ve all been at how she’s a spoiled brat since it’s her way or no one’s way, he also teases her about how she clearly misses him and it’s probably him wanting her to admit it, hoping it would be an opening for him to help her get out of crime and they could be friends again.
I wanted to address this because I feel like some people would hear these voice lines and immediately blow things out of proportion, the backstory of these characters and who they knew and know now all play into the people they are. McCree is connected to these women and the way he talks to them can stem from his past with them, the love and respect for the people he knew, his morality or current feelings toward them. McCree has shown respect to so many female characters that it’s hard to see him as sexist at all.

5+1 - Five times Buddie tried to confess their newfound romantic feelings to each other and the one time someone else did it for them?
thank you for the idea! Hope you like it.
1.
Buck took a deep breath as he looked at Eddie and Chris. These nights always cemented the fact that he’s not only in love with Eddie, but this is what he wants everyday for the rest of his life just the three of them, and maybe some more kids at some point.
Eddie is his perfect match. He really never expected to find someone and really never thought it would be a man, but he doesn’t care he just wants Eddie. Tonight’s the night, once Chris goes to bed he’s gonna rip off the bandaid...tell Eddie the truth.
Buck waited in anticipation as Eddie finished tucking Chris in. His heart was pounding, his breathing was erratic and he couldn’t sit still.
“You ok?” Eddie smiled
“Uh yeah great.”
“You sure.”
“Of course I just wanted to tell you something.”
“Ok.” Eddie said sitting next to Buck.
“Eddie I love...I love game night, but I’m not gonna make it this week...I have plans.” Buck lied, and it was a terrible lie because he definitely did not have plans.
“A date?” Eddie asked and Bucks sure Eddie looks upset.
“No, no date for me. I just I have some laundry and cleaning I need to do and that’s the only free time I’ll have this week.” Buck said. Another lie. The truth has to be easier than this.
“We can do it at your place...game night I mean. Then I can help you.” Eddie said softly.
Damnit there’s no way to say no. No way to turn down Eddie and Chris time.
“You’d do that for me.”
“Buck I’d do anything for you.” Eddie said placing his hand on Bucks thigh.
“Ok. Game night at my place.”
2.
Eddie was nervous. Bucks coming over, but only Buck and him will be there. Chris is at a sleepover and most nights it’s just the three of them, which is actually how Eddie prefers it. This isn’t the first time he’s been in love. After Shannon he wasn’t sure how to move on and when he dated Ana he liked her, but something was off. He figured out later it was the skateboard incident and how she reacted vs how Buck reacted. That’s when he knew for sure Buck was the one.
“Hey.” Eddie smiled as Buck walked through the door.
“Hey.” Buck yawned.
“Sorry I’m so boring.” Eddie teased.
“Nah. Just tired Albert and Veronica are...really loud.”
“Why don’t they just stay at her place.”
“Oh they do.” Buck rolled his eyes.
Eddie sat next to Buck making sure he wasn’t too close, even though they’re usually so close their bodies are pressed together, but he knows if he’s too close he’ll lose his nerve.
“I uh need to use the bathroom.” Eddie said excusing himself.
You can do this. It’s not a big deal. Just say it “Buck I wanna be more than friends.” No not that “Buck I like you.” Well it’s more than like but the L word might scare Buck, even though Eddie knows he loves him. “Buck you’re hot as fuck.” Nope nope nope not that one. That sounds purely sexual, and as much as Eddie is sexually attracted to Buck that’s not all there is. It’s really all the small things about Buck and his personality that drew Eddie in. Ok straight forward. “I have romantic feelings for you.” Maybe that works. No speak from the heart.
Eddie walked out of the bathroom not confident in what he’d say, but confident it’s time to tell Buck....who is passed out asleep on the couch.
“I can wake up.” Buck yawned.
“No. I’ll get you a blanket. Lay down and get some rest.”
Buck obeyed and Eddie covered him placing a small kiss on Bucks temple. Buck didn’t seem to notice, but that’s ok it’s not their time yet.
3.
Buck looked at Eddie from across the station and sighed. Why was it so difficult telling him. Ok he knows why because it could potentially ruin the best friendship he’s ever had, but most people think of their spouse as their best friend right? So maybe that’s why their friendship is unlike any other he’s ever had because they belong together.
There’s 5 hours of the shift left, but a wave of confidence hit Buck. He strutted over to Eddie who smiled.
“What’s up?” Eddie grinned.
“Can we talk?”
“Everything alright?”
“Yeah I uh just need to say this.” Buck said before the bell went off.
Saved by the bell...more like blocked by the bell. Buck sighed.
“We can talk later.” Eddie nodded.
Later...later will there be any confidence left?
After returning to the station Eddie stopped Buck.
“Do you wanna continue our conversation? It seemed important.”
“Eddie I...can’t remember.” Buck hated that he said that he wanted to just blurt out “I love you” but that might scare Eddie off, and that confidence from earlier had fizzled out. Today is so not the day.
4.
Today was gonna be the day...again. Buck was coming over to make dinner. Chris had a last minute sleepover invite. Which Eddie was happy his son was so excited, and happy for some alone time with Buck, but it was scary.
Buck showed up in a tight blue shirt not only making his eyes pop but accentuating his muscles. Eddie felt guilty ogling his best friend, but when Buck looks this good it s hard not to.
“You ok?” Buck asked as he began to cook.
Eddie sat on the counter near by.
“Yeah I just. Do you ever have something you think you need to say, but you don’t know what will happen. Like it could ruin something great, but if you say it then the thing you already have could be even greater.” Eddie sighed.
“I guess I don’t know for sure, but I feel like you just go on your instincts. Do what you think is best. Trust your gut....I mean obviously You have no gut just rock hard abs, but you get it. Does that help?”
“ I think.” Eddie but his lip.
“Do you wanna talk about it? See if I can help?”
Yes. Of course we really need to talk about it.
“Uh no...it’s nothing big.” Eddie lied.
“Well I’m here anytime...really even if you ever need to call late at night to talk you can. Don’t worry if I’m asleep or not. I’ll be here...always.”
Eddie felt like his heart was doing somersaults. Buck is so perfect and caring...it’s really Bucks fault he fell in love with him. If Buck wasn’t such an amazing person, and it was just sexual attraction rather than love and sexual attraction this would a lot easier.
Ok no more hiding.
“Buck.”
“Yeah?” Buck said with a smile that melts Eddies heart.
“I-” Eddie said before Buck cut him off.
“Sorry hold that thought I don’t want the food to burn.”
Buck returned shorty with two plates piled high full of delicious food.
“Ok so what were we talking about?” Buck asked in a serious tone.
“I was just telling you how much I appreciate you cooking for me.”
“Anytime.” Buck smiled.
And another failed attempt. Bucks totally worth it. Eddie wants to tell him, but the thought of potentially messing up their friendship is what makes it so scary. Every time he tries to tell him it’s like something always gets in his way. Is this fates way of telling him not to say anything?
5.
Buck looked across the bar as he saw a woman practically throwing herself at Eddie....ok she was just talking, but still it made Buck feel an overwhelming wave of jealousy. A shitty bar isn’t really the place to confess your undying love, but now he feels like he has to.
Buck plopped on the chair next to Eddie. He knew it was weird l, but when he got there the words didn’t wanna come out. Not in a way that would make any sense.
“Hey Buck wanna help me carry the drinks back to our table?” Eddie smiled.
“Uh yeah.”
“So Uh why didn’t you keep talking to her. She’s pretty and seemed into you.”
“She’s not my type.”
“What is your type.”
“It’s not that I really have a type its more a feeing....I can usually tell pretty quick by the way I feel around that person, and I wasn’t feeling it.”
So if Eddie can feel it quickly, but hasn’t said anything yet then maybe that means he’s not into Buck. He has no feelings for him. It’s unreciprocated and the pain in his chest is unbearable he almost feels like he’s at the point where he wants to cry, but he’s in so much pain he can’t.
“Buck you ok?” Eddie asked.
The words echoed through Bucks mind.
“I’m not feeling so well maybe I should go.”
“I’ll drive you home I haven’t had anything to drink yet.”
“Uh no I’ll call an Uber.” Buck said. He wanted Eddie to take him home, but maybe once he’s not around Eddie the pain will lessen.
+1.
Hen and Karen were having everyone other for a game night. Although they had ulterior motives. Everyone was sick and tired of Buck and Eddies shit. They were either pining, moping, or gazing longingly at each other all the time.
Hen was very aware of both of their feelings considering they both confided in her. They both admitted how they keep trying to tell each other, but something kept holding them back. She wanted to say you love him he loves you now be together, but it’s not her place to be so straight forward. She tried and tried to encourage them to just be honest, but they were both too stubborn.
“Buck, Eddie can you grab the folding table out of my bedroom closet?” Hen asked earning a glare from both men.
As soon as they both entered the room hen shut the door and then pushed a chest in front of it barricading the door.
“You two need to talk...about what you keep talking to me about. The thing you both want to say. I know you know what I mean. I’ll let you out when you finally talk.” Hen said.
“Hen.” Buck groaned as he jiggled the door knob.
Eddie sat on the bed.
“Fine I’ll say it blurt it out.” Eddie let out a deep breath.
“I love you.” Buck sighed as he approached Eddie. “Like I’m in love with you. I’ve tried and tried to tell you but I can’t seem to ever get the words out.”
“Buck I’ve been trying to tell you the same thing for so long. I didn’t wanna scare you, but I love you and I can’t believe you feel it too.”
Buck practically tackled Eddie pushing him back on the bed straddling and kissing him.
Moments later Hen was knocking on the door.
“You guys good.”
“Yeah we uh talked.” Buck panted.
“Give is a few more minutes...to talk.” Eddie panted.
“Do not have sex in my room.” Hen said pushing the chest out of the way. “You’re free to come out here now.”
“Oh we aren’t gonna have sex here. When we do I wanna hear every sound I can pull from Buck. If we did it hear he might try to muffle those sounds.”
“Walking away now!” Hen said.
“Eddie should we go back to my place.” Buck whispered.
“Isn’t that rushing this a bit?”
“We don’t have to do anything I just wanna be alone with you.” Buck smiled climbing off of Eddie.
“Ok.” Eddie smiled.
When they walked out to the living room everyone applauded .
“Finally!” Maddie laughed.
“Hey uh so we’re gonna go. We kinda need to talk some more.” Eddie said.
“Thanks Hen for forcing us to admit our feelings.” Buck smiled.
“Hey I knew you both felt it you just needed a little push.” Hen smiled.

Y’all, I’m either very blind or oblivious because I didn’t realize us Madney fans were being called annoying. I was so confused, I mean I know not everyone is going to like the same ships or characters, but dang, to start attacking people or sending disheartening messages and such is not okay. I cannot stress that enough.
But people really think we are the annoying ones? Nope, not in the slightest.
When are people going to finally open thier eyes and see it’s okay for people to like who they want, and it’s okay that others may hate that character? Why can’t people just appreciate that everyone has a ship or character they like and stop the drama and attacking? I really can’t fathom why fans in a fandom work against each other.
Yes I’m saying this from a Madney point of view because that is my favorite ship, and yes Maddie is my favorite character; it was just going to be a given. Jennifer is the whole reason I started watching the show, because I watched Ghost Whisperer first back in 2020 and then wanted to watch something else with her in it. Just because I love Madney though doesn’t mean I don’t like other ships and characters. I’m not gonna lie I’m 50/50 on Buddie, like I wouldn’t be mad if they got together in the show but I’m also not going to be mad if they don’t. I really don’t mind Buddie, and I even include the ship occasionally in the stories I’ve been writing for Madney; I’m not shoving any other ships aside—same with Bobby/Athena and Hen/Karen.
But I do have to say some Buddie fans out their are hella crazy. I’m sorry, but you guys really need to stop and just take a moment to revaluate. I’m obviously not naming names, I would never do that, but I literally saw a comment under a Buddie story, the writer hating Ana, and the commenter hating Ana saying they hope she gets punched in the face because she deserved it—probably from whatever happened in the story, that was written out of character. Like, what? Y’all are really that extreme? Ana never did anything on the show but ruin the fact Buck couldn’t get with Eddie. That’s really how I see it. But that is how tv works. Sometimes your ships work out, sometimes they don’t, and sometimes it takes seasons of building up a relationship and the characters being with other people before you can finally see them together. (For anyone who watches NCIS: LA, think of Kensi and Deeks, who weren’t official until season 6 but you could see the sparks fly in the 3rd season? I think, Idk if it was 2 or 3. One of them.)
I’m not saying you guys should stop shipping, I would never. I am personally glad that everyone has a ship they like, even if it isn’t canon yet.
If you like Eddie with Buck, good for you.
If you like Eddie with Ana, good for you.
If you like Eddie with Shannon, good for you.
If you like Taylor with Buck, good for you.
If you like Buck with Abby, good for you.
If you like Bobby with Athena, good for you.
If you like Hen with Karen, good for you.
If you like Maddie with Chimney, good for you.
If you like Buck with TK, good for you.
If you like Buck with Bobby, good for you.
If you like Buck with Albert, good for you.
If you like Buck with Josh, good for you.
If you like Buck with Jay Halstead from Chicago PD, good for you.
If you like Buck with Kelly Severide from Chicago Fire, good for you.
If you like Buck with Tim Bradford from The Rookie, good for you.
If you like Buck with a reader insert, good for you.
If you like any mismatch of characters with any other character, either in 9-1-1 or not, good 👏🏼 for 👏🏼 you.
(I believe these are the main ones I’ve seen, I’m definitely missing some, but you guys get the point.)
There are a few ships on this list which I could never see in a million years, but, does that mean I don’t support you liking that ship? Hell no! I like my ship and I scream it, but I’m also sitting at the sidelines screaming for all of you as well, because I’m happy everyone has found a pairing they enjoy.
So please stop going after people who either don’t like your ship or the characters you like. I know it can get agitating and annoying because you just want to see your ship on the screen, and I hate to say for some it won’t happen, and that’s why we have fanfic in the first place, but please don’t attack anyone. It may be especially upsetting to some fans that maybe just don’t like Madney, and that’s okay, that us fans have our ship on screen and you don’t, and I’m sorry for that. If I could give everyone their ship on screen I would, in a heartbeat.
At the end of the day guys we may not have the same like in characters or ships, but we all love the show they put together. Isn’t that enough, that we get to have this amazing show in the first place?
I’m sorry for the long rant, but I just wanted to get my opinion out because there have been certain things bugging me since I got into the fandom and started seeing/hearing things.
I also just want to address really quick there is a difference in asking and attacking. It’s okay to genuinely be curious and ask someone nicely why they don’t like your ship or certain ships/characters, and I think most of us would be happy to have a civil conversation about why. It’s another thing to go on the defense and be rude and start name calling. Not okay, very disrespectful, and it shows who you are as a person.

Devil’s Backbone
Devil’s Backbone
Chapter 5
Story Rating: Explicit, 18+
Warnings: Smut, violence, past flashbacks of sexual assault, descriptions o torture, racial hate and forced abortion. Not Tony Stark friendly.
Relationships: Bucky/OC, Steve/Natasha, Billy/Wanda/Grant, past Clint/Laura, eventual Clint/Yelena and Frank/Karen.
Summary: In the aftermath of the Blip, Bucky struggled to find his place among the world and the Avengers. However, when he is sent on a mission to Madripoor to investigate a young woman, he starts to realize that maybe his past isn’t too far behind him. Co-Written with WalkingPotterGirl14
Nat was acting weird. Clint usually was a very noticeable guy. He may be the man that never misses, but he was also the man that could read people like a book. And right now, Nat was acting very much not like herself, even with her usual stoic face.
He felt like she was hiding something from him and Laura, which made him conflicted. He knew Natasha's past with the Red Room was horrific, but she was keeping something secret, and had been on the phone to a woman last night. She usually never went on calls late at night. Sighing, he texted Laura to let her know that he was alright and that the kids were settling into school. After Tony had exposed their location to Thaddeus Ross, he'd had to move them to the outskirts of New York. He frowned when he saw Natasha in the conference room, running the facial recognition software. The tech had been created by Pym Industries and X-Con Security Consultants, as Stark Industries' facial recognition software was for more expensive and didn't always work. "What are you doing, Nat?" he asked quietly. Natasha ignored him as he entered the room. She was reading a file that was in Russian. "Trying to find out who this mysterious woman is, Clint. Steve isn't exactly talking to me right now, so I have to do this on my own," she answered harshly, causing him to grimace at her answer. Steve and Natasha's relationship had become strained after she had survived Voromir and revealed that she had been pregnant. Then she had suddenly broken up with Steve, devastating the man. He knew how much Steve loved Natasha. He'd been a shell of himself after Natasha had supposedly died. The man was far more guarded now and simply kept things civil with Natasha. "You should have told him, Nat. He loves you and it clearly shows in the way that he looks at you," he argued firmly, trying to understand why Natasha was acting this way. Natasha refused to acknowledge Clint's words. She knew Steve loved her, but she just didn't feel like she wanted children. She was upset that she had miscarried, but she hadn't been sad in the same manner as Steve had been.
Ana had gotten ready for Sharon's art gallery. She had decided to wear a red dress for tonight made with red satin and had a V-neck. It would partially show the faded burns on her chest, but no one would hardly notice them. She didn't like thinking about the burns, or the agony they had caused. It was better to just forget about it. She finished applying her makeup, adding some eyeliner and grabbed her handbag. She had put a knife in there, along with her cell phone and lipstick, before heading out. The car was waiting for her outside the building, and with a quiet smile, it drove her across High Town to where Sharon lived.
Bucky had left Sharon’s after a little but to head back and get ready for the real art show tonight. While he did, he had memorized everything for the mission, including his backstory and the reason as to why he was in Madripoor, looking at himself in the mirror. He'd showered, and let some slight stubble grow on his face for tonight. He was wearing a black blazer, black trousers, and a black shirt. He nodded to himself as he left the bedroom and said goodbye to Alpine. The cat meowed at him affectionately, before going to sit on the bottom of the cat bed. He'd made sure that no one would be able to break into the house, using the security system to its best advantage for heading out. He left his place after making sure he had everything that he needed, including his gun, a knife, and keys. He walked to the motorcycle, getting on, and quietly drove to Sharon's house.
The party was in full swing when Ana arrived at the house. She smiled at Conrad, who had already arrived and was with his girlfriend. He raised a glass to her from the corner as she approached. Sharon was showing a client some beautiful paintings as she wandered around, admiring the art gallery. She was about to ask Sharon about a Van Gough painting when a strange silence fell over the room as most eyes headed towards the door. Curiously, she turned around to see a young man with short dark brown hair, dressed in clothes that made it clear he was part of the Russian Mafia. Her brow raises in surprise. His eyes though were what caught her attention. They were a dark grey, like a wolf's eyes. She couldn't shake off the feeling…that they had met before but where? No, no way. She hadn't met anyone like that. Or at least…her memory sucked. "Everyone, this is one of my clients who has come from Moscow, Russian. His name is Yakov Surkov," Sharon said calmly, introducing the man, who nods. Ana got the sense that this man was dangerous. "He's a Russian mobster," Conrad whispers to her discreetly as they turned back around. "He doesn't do the usual Mafia stuff, but he sells weapons to resistance groups who fight dictators." She raised an eyebrow at his words, watching the man intently as he walked up to the bar to get a drink. She wasn't surprised when he ordered a Ruskova vodka to drink. The party returned to normal quickly after, with many people returning to what they had been doing. She excused herself from Conrad, whispering that one of the paintings he was looking at would be hers to which he laughed, and sat at the bar contently. She enjoys her glass of red wine, when she got the sense that someone was watching her. She glances up and feels herself smile when her eyes dance across the room at Yakov, who had been looking directly at her. Without breaking contact, he downs his drink before standing, walking over to her. Ah, a man of confidence, she could see. However, as he moved closer, a weird sense of peace settled over her. Conrad had told her who he was, what he did, but coming over to her, she didn't feel fear. In fact, his eyes almost felt familiar. It was such a strange sensation. But even so, she didn't let it show on her face. "You came over her nice and quick," she remarks, her brow raising. "Almost like you're on a mission." "What can I say? When I see something, I like, I know what I want." Okay, now that brought some colour to her cheeks. He was smooth. "For a Russian man, your English is very good." "I've been around them enough in the past for me to know. Takes some practice but you learn to work with it well." He reaches out and holds her hand, bringing it to his lips in a kiss. "Yakov Survok." Oof, he was pulling out all the stops. She couldn't remember the last time she had been treated with such respect from a single man. Surely not of this year, that's for sure. However, she still had her smarts ahead of her, and knew that it wouldn't be too brilliant if she gave out her regular name. So, she instead smiles and states back another name. "Maria Kapitonova. It's a pleasure to meet you." He lowers her hand again, smiling. "A pleasure to meet you as well." He glances around and gestures to this. "You been going to this for some time? I've never seen you around." "You've been here before?" "Couple of occasions," Yakov states quietly. "Usually for business reasons, but I've been to Sharon's a couple of times, trying to find the right piece for back home. However, I recently decided to move here all together." Ah, so he was in the area? Good to know. "To be honest, I haven't been here that often," she states lightly. "I only just recently showed up in the city…had some high friends in some good places so they got me into this big shindig. Sharon is a nice woman…smart one too." "That she is," he agrees before raising an eyebrow at her. "So, you're new to Madripoor?" "I am, yes." "Well, obviously you do know the city…isn't necessarily safe." Ana chuckles a bit. "Trust me, I know. But I think it was exactly what I needed. A change of scenery. Last place I was in was far too cold." The man snickers a bit. "I've heard that the summers in Madripoor are beautiful. I look forward to it." She looks back at him. "Then why did you move here?"
"As you said. A change of scenery," he agrees lightly. "It can be quite cold in Russia too." Ana smiles a bit and nods. "That is true…I've been there as well. All over the world. It's almost like people, in a way." At his furrowed brow, she continues. "Every person has warm and cold parts in a way. When you're close to someone, you get to see their warm parts, but if you anger them, the cold parts emerge, as vicious as ever. But even in the cold you can find warmth sometimes, and coldness withing the warmth – if that makes any sense." She found herself chuckling at the end. "I'm sorry. Maybe the wine is getting to me." Yakov chuckles before shaking his head. "No, I…I get it, really." He glances at the ground. "God knows I've had my fair share encounter with warm and cold places within me." Ana could see a bit of a fight in his eyes, glancing at the ground. He clearly had some sort of past, and for a moment, she forgets that they were practically strangers and reaches out, squeezing his arm. It causes him to look up. "We all do. That's the beauty of people. They're complex and wonderful in every way. If you're not willing to accept all parts of someone, then why even try?" That causes him to smile as well, although this one was smaller. "That is true…a beautiful statement for a beautiful woman." Ana rolls her eyes. "Now you're just saying that." "I mean it," he argues back, but there was a certain twinkling in his eyes that had her smiling. She takes the last sip of her wine, standing. "Well…thank you, Yakov." She clears her throat, remembering that she wasn't here to flirt with men. She needed to focus on actually getting the art she needed. "I have to use the restroom, but after that I plan to peruse the art here. Do you want to join me?" "I'd love to," he answers back with a smile. "Good," she responds back, offering her own grin before turning around, grabbing her purse, and heading to the restroom. Jeez, she hadn't felt something like that in…God knows how long. She wondered what Yakov had to offer her. Maybe being friends with a mafia man would benefit her greatly.
God-fucking-damn, she was gorgeous. As soon as Bucky had arrived back at Sharon's place for this whole party she was throwing for the art, she had directed him directly to where the mystery woman she knew was sitting at the bar. And while Bucky of course followed up on her and began to talk to her, trying to learn her name – Maria, of all things, but he knew that was most likely a front – and all about her for his own case, he couldn't deny the beauty that she had.
She had the most beautiful eyes that he had ever seen, a light grey that he compared to opals. She had wavy dark brown hair that was almost black but had a mahogany colour. She was tall, but barely reached his height. The red silk dress flattered her figure and emphasized the curves she had. He noticed a few men were watching her as she left for the restroom, her hair glowing in the disco lights. She was most certainly a looker, that was for sure. "Enjoying the party, Yakov?" a voice asked with amusement. He turned around to see Sharon had come over to the bar, and had ordered herself a Piña colada, eying the drink that he was drinking. "It's enjoyable, Miss Carter. And I just met the delightful Maria Kapitonova. She's a charming young woman," he answered smoothly as he saw a young woman with blonde curly hair enter the art gallery and go to the restroom. "That she is. She's friendly with Conrad Mack, the Smiling Tiger, Melissa Gold who is known as Songbird and two hackers called Polina Astakhova and Evan Drake. She's making a name for herself in this city - plus she's laid down some ground rules for everyone," Sharon said impressed. After a moment however, she turns him around, looking at him carefully. "Be careful, Bucky. She's not like most of the people who live here but she's dangerous. She's killed at least three folks who didn't abide by the new rules," she said warningly. Before he could reply, Maria returned from the restroom, her bag in her hands. "I'd love to see the new art collection you've acquired. Sharon, I heard from Conrad and Melissa that you have some art nouveau pieces?" Maria asked curiously. She'd loved the art nouveau art and architecture. Bucky takes her up on that. "I'd like to see this art collection as well, Sharon. I have a deep fondness for Art Deco, and Art Nouveau style," Bucky added, genuinely interested. Sharon smiled, as she showed them the collection upstairs, moving along gracefully through the halls until they arrived where it was. Bucky admired the paintings on the wall, knowing fully well that these paintings and sculptures were the real deal. Most of the paintings and sculptures in the museums and art galleries, including the Louvre, were elaborate fakes. "I'll take those and some of your Asian Art collection as well, Sharon," he answered smoothly, handing her a wad of cash in Russian ruble. She smiled at him as she took it. "You have great taste," she mutters to him, to which he chuckles. Both of them saw Maria admiring the one of the paintings on the wall, before she turns to Sharon. "I'd like to buy this and a few other pieces," she said softly. Sharon smiled and arranged to have them sent to her house, as well as Bucky's place.
The party continued going on in their absence. Bucky noticed that some people were smoking marijuana. He didn't have a problem with people taking it. He knew Leah smoked the painkiller to help relive her back pain she'd gotten from a car accident during the Decimation. It had nearly paralyzed her. He glanced up at the grandfather clock to see the time and was astonished to see it was 2:30 AM in the morning. He saw a young woman with silver hair that had pink highlights at the front, and she came over to greet Maria. So she was using an alias to keep her real identity a secret? On that he didn't blame her. If Thaddeus Ross found out that there was another survivor of the Red Room aside from Natasha and Yelena, then things would get ugly. He would check in with Steve, Sam, and Wanda along with the others tomorrow. He went to say goodbye to Sharon and Maria, and found them talking to Conrad Mack, his girlfriend Jeannette and Melissa. "You heading off, Yakov?" Conrad asked amused. The Russian mobster had a cat that he was fiercely protective of. God help the idiot who tried to hurt it. They'd have the White Wolf hunting them down, like John Wick. "Tired from the flight. The party was wonderful Sharon. And it was lovely to meet you, Maria," he said smoothly, kissing Sharon on the left cheek. She flushed, chuckling a bit. Deep down Bucky hoped Sam wouldn't get upset about that. He knew there was something brewing between the two. He smiled at Maria, shaking her hand. He could smell her perfume from where he was. It smelt of lilies, red roses, and cherry blossoms. "I hope to see you again, Yakov," Maria said softly. He smiled at her as he watched her go inside and got onto his bike before taking off.
Steve, Sam, Wanda, Clint and T'Challa were in the conference room with Fury looking over the photos. They had been taken by Bucky when he had been at Sharon's art gallery. "Ok, so I've identified most of the guests at the party. Conrad Mack also known as the Smiling Tiger, was there with his fiancé, Jeanette Deveraux. Now, believe it or not, his criminal record isn't that bad. He sells marijuana to people on low incomes, and he is an arms dealer, but he sells weapons to Algeria, where there is a civil war going on due to the former prime minister coming back and trying to make a dictatorship," Amy explained patiently. "What about the chick with the gorgeous breasts and pink highlights? Did our Manchurian Candidate I.D. her as well?" Tony asked rudely, causing most of the team to stare at him in disgust at his cruel jibe towards Bucky. "Stark, don't call Bucky that. It's insensitive and unkind," Sam said firmly, before Steve could speak in defense of his friend. Tony had becoming very unkind towards Bucky since he had joined the Avengers. Tony started laughing at Sam's words, an expression of disbelief, contempt and disgust on his face. "Oh I'm sorry, Wilson - or wait is it Captain America? You think I shouldn't be unkind and insensitive to the bastard who strangled my mother to death and is the reason the team broke up?!" he shouted angrily, slamming his fist on the table. The piece of furniture rattled violently, and Peter squirmed uncomfortably in his seat. "It wasn't Bucky's fault, Mr. Stark. He is as much as a victim of HYDRA as were your parents," T'Challa said compassionately, but firmly to the man. "I don't care. He killed my goddamn mother! Because of Barnes and the man who I call father, I lost my mother, and Rogers had the nerve not to tell me!" Tony raged, his face turning red with anger. "When could I tell you, Tony?" Steve asks. "I didn't know if Zola was telling the truth at the bunker, and everything was a mess. I'm sorry I didn't tell you, sooner. Truly, I am. But you wouldn't answer my calls after retiring from the Avengers and the Accords happened," he reasoned calmly, trying to keep his temper. "Barnes should be rotting in the Raft or be fucking dead. He's a murdering, sociopathic bastard who ruined my life! He's the reason why Morgan doesn't have a grandmother!" Steve's hands turn to fists, but he refuses to yell. He wouldn't stoop so low as to lose his temper. So instead, he stands, aiming at him. "You don't think that Bucky feels that every day? You don't think he hasn't apologized and tried to make amends with every damn person he's hurt in the past? If anything, you don't even have the right to talk, because you've had so many people that you have hurt in the past as well. Do you deserve to be rotting away?" "You want to know everything I've done for this organization? For this country? I know that we've hurt others and we've tried to redeem that by singing the Accords and trying to make things right! Barnes was a literal psychopath that, just because we choose to believe what the Wakandans did, he's out there right now just living when he could snap at any moment!" T'Challa raises an eyebrow. "Are you questioning the power of Wakandan technology?"
Tony sighs and raises a hand to T'Challa. "I have nothing against you or your power, your highness. Your tech is great. My issue is with the current former assassin that is on the streets!"
"Will you two sit down!" Fury snaps angrily, causing the two of them to let out a puff of anger before doing so. "I know that you two don't get along but for the love of God get your damn selves together, because if don't figure out what is going on, then we might have another fucking breach." He angrily waves his hand. "Tony, the rest of your team head out and do a bit more research on Madripoor. Steve, called up Barnes and get more info. And when we get back, you two act like fucking adults."
"Yes, sir," was a collective muttered response.
Steve saw Tony glare at him before getting up, heading out with the others. Steve goes to talk to him but feels someone reach out to him, and he turns to see Wanda, shaking her head.
"It's not worth it," she says softly.
Steve sighs before running a hand along the back of his head, and turning around. "You're right." He looks to Sam and Wanda, who then he nods towards the meeting room. "Let's go call up Bucky."

The wall across from him was a dull, depressing shade of gray. It had light cracks running through it, undoubtedly from previous super-powered villains who had resisted against their captors. This deep in the belly of the beast, Loki doubted they had much success with anything besides maybe giving out a few bruises. He, however, would not give the agents the satisfaction of seeing him lash out, no matter how badly he wanted to act like a madman, tearing everything apart until they let him go. Until he could see you. But, no, he swore he’d stay away from you for your own good.
Loki looked at the one-way mirror out of his peripheral vision. Another thing he refused to do was look directly at them, to look like he cared at all. His whole plan on getting out of here hinged on the fact that he seemed completely uninterested. It had worked the first time, after all. Though, that would probably mean they were more likely to be wary of him now. It didn’t really matter, anyway. His plan was half-baked at best, and he didn’t have much hope for getting out. Or much of a reason for trying, either. Not when he couldn’t go to you. A pain shot through his whole body, starting in his heart and spreading out. It was the all-consuming thought of you that made him show a crack in his armor, even though it was for the briefest of seconds. He tried to go back to the completely calm facade he’d been doing such a good job of keeping up, but he was sure he looked quite a bit more deranged now. It was much more of a strain on him to look fine when he was remembering that you were out there, possibly still crying into Denzel’s shoulder.
The door to his left swung open, and Loki examined his nails as best he could being cuffed to the table. He hoped the action looked as nonchalant as it did in his mind. Fury and Natasha walked up to the chair opposite him, but neither sat down for a second, obviously trying to give a subtle reminder of the power they exerted over him. Finally, Fury took the seat, but Natasha remained standing off to the side. It was probably a reminder of how she got him to crack last time. As if he would let that happen again.
“So,” Fury began, “you mind telling me what was going on in that crazy head of yours, attacking civilians without a cause.”
He was met with silence.
“Perhaps I haven’t made myself clear. I’m going to ask you some questions, and you’re going to answer them. Now, don’t make me repeat myself again.”
Still, stony-faced silence.
“You can take all the time you need. The sooner you answer, the sooner we can ship you back to that alien planet you dared to come from. It makes no difference to me whether you’re rotting here or there. I’m in no rush.”
“Oh, I can see that,” Loki taunted. The man’s intimidation tactics were more annoying than anything else, and Loki couldn’t resist the chance to be snide. “After all, it only took you two months to find me. And even then it was only because of a civilian, is that not right?”
“Fine, have it your way,” Fury shrugged, leaving the room with Natasha, seemingly carefree, though Loki knew he was grating on his nerves.
Really, all Loki wanted to do was break down, scream. Cry. But he knew he was being watched, so he didn’t say or do anything else. He should have left when he had the chance. Had he not stayed on your farm, he wouldn’t be in custody right now. Not to mention you and your family wouldn’t have had to be interrogated. Because, he was sure, there had been countless questions asked of you in the past twenty-four hours. Most of you would be safe, he knew, but what about John? He had kept Loki’s secret. If he was smart, he would claim it was under duress. Alas, Loki knew his friend cared too much to say anything that might condemn him. He could only hope John didn’t incriminate himself instead.
And Matt! Oh, that poor boy would be so confused, so upset. Right from the beginning Loki knew he would be no good for the child, but did he listen to sense? No, he gave into his own selfish desires. If only he hadn’t spent so much time with him, this might be easier. Maybe Matt was still young enough that after all this was said and done, he wouldn’t even remember it. Of course, that means he wouldn’t remember how Loki saved him either. The thought made him sadder than he ever would have imagined it could.
What of Papa and Ana, Loki wondered. They knew nothing of his true identity, so they must be safe. Ever the pacifist, he was sure your father would keep everyone as calm as possible during the whole ordeal. But Ana might not be doing too well. Plus, she was pregnant, and Loki felt guilty he’d inflicted so much stress on her during such a time. It dawned on him just then that, in his mind, he’d always just assumed he’d be around to meet the new baby. Needless to say, that was not the case. How he already missed your whole family already. Except for Mama. Screw it, even her! As annoying as she was and whatever she may have done in the end, Loki enjoyed the banter with her, deep down.
Then there was you. You’d cared for him since the moment he first arrived. From the very second you saw him passed out in the field to the time you found out the truth, you watched over him. All the bruises and cuts and scratches on him, you had healed with your touch. And that wasn’t just the physical ones, but the ones on his heart, too. Words could not describe all that you had done for him. His blood boiled at the thought that SHIELD agents were prying into the details of your relationship at that very moment.
He remembered he’d said he’d sing for you one day. He’d never get to do that now. He supposed it could just be added to a growing list of broken promises.
The last image he had of you as the van pulled away was still burning in the back of his mind. The way Denzel had been holding you, comforting you, it broke Loki. After everything you went through together, that should have been him. That could have been him. Instead, Mama had to go and ruin everything. He couldn’t really hold that against her, though. After all, he had been branded as a criminal. When you got down to the nitty-gritty of it, he actually was a criminal. But was he a villain? There was a difference there, he realized, but he didn’t know exactly where in the spectrum he fell. You’d called him a hero once. He shuddered to think what you’d call him now.
He’d vowed to leave you alone, but his resolve was already weakening. What if, by some miracle, he was able to get out of here? Could he go see you for even a second? If for nothing else, then to apologize for all the wrong he did you. He shook his head ever so slightly. That was not a thought he should be entertaining. How could he be so stupid! Here he was thinking about making the same mistake again. Would he ever learn? He needed to keep you out of this. You never should have even been involved in the first place. A monster; that’s all he ever was, and all he’d ever be. A single imperceptible tear rolled down his cheek.
Again, the door opened, but this time Thor walked in. He was seething in anger, but if Loki looked deep enough—and for whatever reason, he did—there was also a deep remorse in his eyes. A sadness Loki could only assume was due to all that had happened. It made him feel a little bit better to know he wasn’t the only one who wished things could have been different.
“Brother, I know not why you have taken this path,” Thor said. “But the sooner you confess, the sooner I can go back to fixing the mess you made in the rest of the Nine Realms.”
“What?” Loki scoffed. “So eager to leave your precious Midgard.”
He tried to spit it out with only venom in his voice, but it just sounded sad at the end. It was, after all, his precious Midgard now too.
“What happened, brother?” Thor asked, a bit more softly than he had before. “Why did you attack?”
Loki looked at the table, unable to face Thor. “You would not believe me even if I told you.”
“What have I ever done that you think I do not trust you, care for you, brother?”
“Stop calling me that,” Loki snapped, his eyes shooting up to Loki’s face. He would have stood if his restrains allowed it. “I am sure father dearest has already told you my true heritage.”
Ah, there was the venom in his voice. His demeanor quickly changed, though, when he noticed Thor was looking at him with a puzzled expression. Loki had assumed that Odin would have gone singing through the streets, telling everyone that Loki was a Frost Giant once he declared him a villain. Could it be that he hadn’t even told his prized son?
“Did he...” Loki gulped. “Did he not tell you?”
“Father did not mention anything. Loki, what are you talking about?”
“I am Jötnar, Thor,” Loki whispered. “The very thing you were taught to abhor.”
Thor finally sat down. He seemed to still be confused by something, though the trickster god could not quite figure out what. Perhaps he was just deciding the best way to slay the beast, to strike him down.
“But you are still my brother.”
Loki’s voice caught in his throat, and he choked on his words. He was nearly as shocked as Thor seemed, if not more. Though, it was for entirely different reasons. He sputtered, trying to find the right thing to say. So much for his cool demeanor.
“Just tell me what is wrong,” Thor said, “my brother.”
“I will tell you. On one condition.”
“That depends,” Thor hesitated, “on what that condition is.”
“That family I was staying with, you must make sure they are all safe. All of them.”
“You have my word. Now, please, tell me why you attacked Midgard. We will discuss your previous actions another time.”
“Very well,” Loki conceded with a small nod. Here goes nothing. “It was the mad Titan, Thanos. After I fell—well, let go on the Bifröst, I was adrift in a void for a while. It was not my intention, but it is what happened. After, well, to be quite honest, I do not know quite how long, Thanos pulled me out. He... He twisted my mind, bent me to his will. He used me as his puppet and made me attack. It was his bidding that I lower Midgard’s defenses, take note of what kind of fight the planet could put up. And one more thing. He wanted the Tesseract. I cannot at this moment, however, give it to you.”
Thor paused for a moment, the gears in his head turning. “And why is that?” he questioned.
“Because of these,” Loki said, lifting his magic-restraining chains. “If you take them off, I will be able to provide you with it.”
For once, he was telling the truth. He had no plans to keep the artifact for himself. Not right now, anyway, with so much else on the line. Once he had handed it over, though, he would have teleported away. It would have been nice to make amends with Thor, yes, but it was not something he would stake his freedom on.
“Point Break,” Tony said, popping in. “Can we talk to you out here for a second?”
Thor excused himself and left Loki by his lonesome again. Well, he wasn’t really alone with so many agents watching from the other side of the glass. His heart was beating wildly. If it had been up to Thor, if he had acted quick enough, Loki would already be on his way off this planet. There was no way anyone else would ever allow it now.
“Ok, Rock of Ages,” Tony said, waltzing back in with Thor and Fury close behind. “You know what I think? Your story sounds like a load of bullshit. But, Point Break here says he believes you.”
“Which is the most idiotic thing I’ve heard,” Fury added.
“And he’s got some evidence to back it up,” Tony finished.
Loki looked at his brother with wide eyes, much like he had when they were kids and he was about to get in trouble. A part of him couldn’t believe Thor would have stood up for him, even after their little heart to heart. He dared let a spark of hope ignite in his heart. If Thor was sticking up for him, and SHIELD was accepting his story as the truth that it was, then was he free to go? After all, if they agreed that it was not him, what reason did they have to keep him in custody?
“May I ask, then,” Loki started, “am I free of the charges? May I go?”
“I am afraid, brother,” Thor solemnly replied. “That I cannot allow that.”
