The Snyder Cut: Headcanons (mostly of the tickly nature)

Bruce Wayne (Batman) ~ Batfleck, my love

He’s such a lover boy, and I can say that though I don’t exactly know how to explain what I mean. You just gotta understand.

He cares so strongly about EVERYONE. e v e r y o n e. Alfred, fucking loves the guy, jokes with him. The fucking “This is Alfred, I work for him.” MY MAN, STOP!

I think he just really wants to get along with everyone and wants everyone to get along in general.

But he lowkey crushes on Diana (at least in his mind, he’s keeping it lowkey, but we all see what’s happening)

I love the idea of this big hunk of a man getting soft with someone like Diana. 

She makes him genuinely laugh this one time by saying something funny, and then they’re both laughing together. 

Bruce definitely has one of those laughs where he throws his head back and shit and you can see his like Adam’s apple bobbing and everything.

But that’s if he’s really laughing.

And he has loud “HA”’s that are like really short but loud and then he kinda just snickers to himself for a while, holding his stomach.

And dude, the scene in freaking uhh… i think it’s BvS I’m not 100% (maybe i fucking imagined it who knows) where she like comes over to him and is fixing his wound….. tickle scenario hand picked from the gods right there

I can see a whole, “Woah!” from Bruce when Diana traces her fingers on some sensitive skin. And that Gal Godot smile is on her in an INSTANT. 

Bruce will laugh if he’s with the right person. Like I headcanon that if he’s being tickled, he will laugh if it’s done by Diana or Barry, then like he’ll be forced to laugh if it’s Clark bc he overpowers the poor bat, but then he just has these hilarious bouts of angry growls and chuckles if Arthur is going after him.

Diana Prince (Wonder Woman)

First off, Gal is the most horrible queen of giggles. I’ve seen those blooper reels. My god, girl, how do you keep getting hired?

SHE HAS SUCH A BIG SMILE IT’S LIKE THE ROCK IDK HOW THEIR TEETH AND MOUTH GET SO WIDE LOOKING

Diana will start tickle fights without a doubt.

She’s already very trustful and I also feel pretty handsy with people, especially those she may feel close to. So if she’s playful, you best watch out.

Her favorite targets are Bruce and Barry. I will not take criticism. Diana attacking Barry and reducing him to panicky shrieky laughs is my #1 thought. It’s not even living rent free, I’m commissioning it to be there.

Diana is one to laugh with her victims. She will wreck them and have a great time doing so. 

She’ll be ticklish if she wants to be, but it isn’t often she gets pinned and tickled or anything like that.

The guys try to stay away from her or not go after her with tickles for fear of retaliation.

AQUAMAN, CYBORG, SUPERMAN, AND THE FLASH UNDER THE CUT

Arthur Curry (Aquaman)

So…. my man isn’t really ticklish. I really don’t think he is, I feel like his Atlantean genes make his skin a special kind of hard, if that makes sense?

THAT BEING SAID ARTHUR IS THE BIGGEST LER OMGGG

He’ll try and act all cool and ‘whatever’ around the League cuz that’s kind of his persona.

But he slowly gets to like them more and more and his playful side starts to come out.

He’ll tickle Barry out of pure annoyance. Like if Barry makes any kind of comment, he’ll just point his finger out and get that glint in his eye and Barry is sprinting for the hills.

Here’s my favorite headcanon: Arthur will tickle Bruce because he knows it pisses him off when he does it. Bruce will fight back and keep Arthur in his sights at all time and curse and growl at him. And Arthur thinks it’s hilarious.

Victor Stone (Cyborg)

Unfortunately… not ticklish. :(

But this boy has the sweetest laugh you will ever hear, and I will die on that hill. 

Now that he has friends (superpowered friends, no less), he can slowly come alive and be himself. 

I can see Victor not getting involved in tickle fights at first, but at a certain point he’ll be all like, “Okay, step aside so we can do this right” and just PIN THE SHIT OUT OF WHOEVER IS BEING TICKLED. His extra robot arms are killer!

Okay, when he laughs for the first time in front of the group, there’s that cliche moment of pause where everything stops and everyone just stares and listens to him. It’s so rare to hear him laugh because the poor kid barely even smiled around them in the beginning.

Now hear me out on this…

Okay, so half a face. Great. Weird. We love it. But you can see all of mischievous Victor when the guy SMIRKS. You see his eye squint and you can swear his robot eye gets a gleam of a different color. 

Wait honestly as I was writing that, the thought of Victor’s eye and like his apparatus changing color based on his mood is golden.

Me sitting here, lowkey wishing Victor’s robot body had some kind of cuddly mode like Baymax lmfaoooo 

Like the defense mode his body went into when he was around resurrected Supes, but for cuddles and being cute.

Clark Kent (Superman)

I was debating even including any headcanons for Superman bc I don’t care about him much, honestly.

I am v happy they kept in the whole ‘him staring at Flash through the speed storm’ scene bc I laughed so hard at that the first time i saw Josstice League in the theater. 

Also I didn’t really like the black superman costume??? I’m not a comic buff, so I’m assuming that’s why. I am like the one person who missed the color from the Josstice League cut. Don’t miss the stupid red sky in the finale, but I miss every other ounce of color that was just SUCKED right out of the Snyder Cut.

Clark and Bruce are besties now, I don’t make the rules. Bruce bought the man his house back. By buying the bank. He’ll take care of him.

And I’ve always simped for those two ever since BvS, bc I’ve already written like two fics where they tickle each other. 

Clark overpowering Bruce to tickle the shit out of him makes me so happy lol. Big strong boy Batfleck looking thiccc over here… but put him against Superman and he’s donezo. Because as mentioned earlier, I do think Bruce is pretty ticklish. 

But Clark can have his lee side when he’s feeling nice

He’s got that mighty chuckle, almost like how Thor might laugh. 

And he really likes getting involved in tickle fights with the League. He knows all of them are sorta afraid of him on the daily anyway, but have that power added to a tickle fight and it’s fun as hell. 

He’s gotten taken down by them ONCE. And I mean exactly (1) O N C E.

They all teamed up. Bing, bang, boom. Pinned him to the floor and they each took an area of skin and fucking SQUEEZED AND WIGGLED. They were trying to incapacitate him as quickly as possible. And dangummit, he laughed a lot! Like Clark realized just how ticklish he could feel if he wanted to feel it. 

And don’t even get me started on Lois, he’s big on getting her to giggle and she likes toying with him and running her hands all over his body (bc who wouldn’t?)

Barry Allen (The Flash)

I waited to write about Barry last because I have so much to say about this character....

and then I fell asleep and waited until the next day to write anything down about him so now I’m totally not in the mood and I forgot all the salient points I was planning on making.

I got a weird relationship with this character. He was mad annoying in the Josstice League. Thank goodness they trimmed his bad jokes down.

But now....

when he got hurt at the end and he was like crying and shit oh my god I wanted to hug him

His character got so... good

And I’m now at the right age where I can think about myself in a relationship with this character with no changes or shame

We both out here trying to find that one good job after college and everything

He has total little brother energy

Barry just reads like a super ticklish lee. Like his whole character.

Maybe touch starved because he said he needed friends, and I don’t think he has siblings??? (sorry if i’m wrong about that, comic fans)

I already named some of my fav headcanons about him getting tickled by like Diana and such, and I’m sticking with it.

Barry does flee. He runs away with super speed.... but sometimes he just kinda wants the tickles so he lets them have at him. 

The chase is all part of the fun with tickling Barry, though. That’s what makes it so entertaining. And Barry isn’t afraid to be a little shit about it either. He will super-speed around his pursuers and poke their sides and tickle them back really quickly before they even know what’s happening. 

Barry doesn’t exactly hold back his laughter lol. He’ll protest and scream and squirm like crazy, but once he’s actually tickled, he loses it.

Pure boy. With funny ass facial expressions.

And it really doesn’t help that I never realized just how hot Ezra Miller is, even though I heard he’s not a great person irl. Oh well.

16 anti LO anon opinions

All under the cut

(1) Fastpassers are also probably mad bc when smythe post fastpass title on twitter(which was heathers musical song ripoff) everyone was so hyped up and excided, they thought this gonna be about "Underqold badass queen Persephone " or something with her trail or something big with her, but no, they got Minthe flashback that didnt change anything in the story

(2) Fastpassers are annoyed bc this episode was flashback of Minthe. Two previous fastpasses got pretty big(and stupid) revals(leto is bad guy,apollo and artemis may be zeus child and last but not least Cronus awakening) so they were hopping for something more not a filler wpisode that changes nothing in to the story bc there were wpisodes that make Minthe more "symphatetic" than this one.

(3) Am i the only one a bit concerned that a Minthe episode made LO fans demand their money back but apparently episodes and a planned redemption over Apollo, who R*PED the main character, was met with fans sympathizing with him and feeling bad for judging him "too soon"?  They can accept a sexual assaulter having mommy issues to excuse his bad actions, but a boring filter episode about Minthe, who we know will be killed by the end anyway, gets outrage? That doesn't sit well with me.

(4) oh my god the LO fans hated the minthe fast pass so much they actually made LO's rating start to go down 😭 most of us here dont even like the comic but none of us would purposely review bomb it over a boring episode over a character we didnt like, thats so entitled!

(5) Adding on to the recent fastpass, it was extremely boring. I get that you can't please everyone but the fact that Minthe is having a backstory now just feels like filler.

This is the main issue I have with Rachel's story, she has so many characters but chooses to develop them at the worst times. If we got this backstory earlier in season 2, this would make sense. However, the fp before this one ended on a cliffhanger. You'd think it'd continue but no, we just get Minthe backstory.

I'd rather see an Apollo backstory, he's an active villain and would be interesting to see his motive.

Minthe doesn't have a compelling motive other than jealousy.

(6) I can't be the only one who thinks the new hairstyle updates for characters like Apollo or Eros look weird right? Eros literally looks like an adult version of one of his siblings Storge (who has curly permed hair and was holding a hamster)

(7) That Lo eros panel ... oof. Wheres his hairline going? He had a damn 7 head. Also at least for awhile the men had a different face from the women, but I guess they’re also women now, facial features wise?

(9) SMYTHE DOES NOT ONLY HAVE A DD/LG KINK, SHE A L S O HAS A PREGNANCY KINK!!! WHY ELSE HADES WAS SO *SMIRKY* ABOUT THE WHOLE FERTILITY GODDESS THING BACK WHEN HE AND PERSEPHONE WERE AT THE BEACH???? i swear to Allah this shit gets even more and more disgusting.

(10) This is something i see so much but LO especially but why do all of them have boring ancient clothes? It's always white or tan sheets or maybe black if it's someone in the Underworld. I'm going more off ancient images but shouldn't the gods especially have more grand and detailed clothing options? i get it's probably harder to design based off colorful skin tones but it's not impossible. it just seems so much of the comic design feels very flat, so if the story can't hold up then the art should.

(11)  The main problem I had before with lore olympus was its cliffhanger syndrome. Like, why do some many chapters leave on a cliffhanger and for no reason at all? Like when Hera got hit and nothing happened. When I was experiencing the episodes coming out in real time, it drove me mad.

It's gotten better recently but that's probably because the three recent episodes (fastpass) felt more like filler.

That's the main reason why I feel like the plot is being dragged out. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for cute character moments and creators getting money but, LO is slowly becoming less and less interesting. I literally skipped around in most of the fasspasses because it really wasn't interesting. The only thing memorable about all of the fp episodes is the beginning and end, the middle is just kinda there.

(12) Ampelus (psyche)'s eyes used to be golden/yellow but now its coloured purple lmao

(13) Wtf is happening in lore olympus?! Now they want to bring cronus back and do another war?!? Are they crazy nothing like this didnt happen in mythology and obviously not bc of persephone(in comic her pink tree in underwold will give crounus power and life). It supposed to be romance not whatever fuck this is now.

(14) I feel like if I was at Henson Co. or Webtoons with a tv deal on the line, I would make Smythe to hand writing duties to a pro or take a hiatus seriously plan everything out, because all these new plots are distracting from what people signed up for, which is to see HxP get together and the myth. It seems like filter seeing as any TV adaption wouldn't cover most of it anyway, so why even include it? If RS wants it over sooner than later, this isn't how you do it, she's just procrastinating now.

(15) I find Demeter in LO just confusing. If she’s so overbearing and controlling, why would she ever allow Persephone out of their domain to live with Artemis in the city? Even the most liberally easy going parents don’t let their naive children out into the world like that with people they barely know, yet the supposed helicopter parent does. Why not literally literally lock her up? Especially when Persephone can’t control her powers and is desperate to hide that she killed a village of people? Demeter knows she’s a danger to others yet let her out anyway? That doesn’t sounding overbearing to me. It sounds like she’s right to want to hide her away. Persephone is a bigger threat to everyone else than they are to her. More so, actual controlling parents do give their children phones to keep easy tabs on them, yet LO Demeter doesn’t? She could constantly call Persephone or check up on her without physically needing to be there, yet they don’t do that. What modern parent would let their child leave home without a way to contact them? If anything, she’s extremely loose on parenting her and lets Persephone do/have whatever she wants. The controlling helicopter parent premise too is undercut by the fact LO Demeter ends up being right in wanting to hide her daughter away because within a month of leaving home Persephone is drugged, kidnapped, threatened by several people, r*ped, blackmailed, is close to dropping out of school, attacked by shades, and had a mental/emotional breakdown, many of those things being linked to her future “caring” husband. I just don’t buy it. Demeter ends up looking correct by anyone who isn’t blinded by the rose colored glasses of HxP.

(Yes, watching, as in watching it in yt) idk about Izuku having AFO and accidentally stealing Bakugou's quirk which led to the Midoriya's leaving Japan and going overseas with Hisashi, who happened to be All For One, so this idea came to me as a different take on Vigilante borderline Villain Deku.

(sorry for every mistake you may see here, english is not my native language)

AU in which AFO is Izuku's dad and Izuku inherited AFO, thus leading to him taking quirks from his peers when he was a child because he didn't know how to 'turn it off', which then led to him not having a lot of friends because the rest of the kids were afraid he might try to steal their quirks indefinitely. He went overseas with his family to try and 'forget' about what happened and maybe get a better hand at controlling Liability, his quirk.

Once he's back in Japan, after AFO v AM fight (the first one) news broke out about The Greatest Villain™ having a heir somewhere around the world (which the people would be confused about, but not the villains, THEY KNOW about the Lord of the Underground, they've heard the rumours, so) so word spreads about Izuku without no one knowing is about him exactly, but Bakugou Remembers, he never forgot about 'the Deku who steals quirks' which would be really difficult to evade, given the fact that Katsuki is the powerhouse he is in canon and pretty much everyone hates him, fears him or fawns over.

With this in mind, Izuku knows there's no way for him to become a Hero, not if he wants to be recognized as All For One's son, so his best route to achieve his dream is by doing it out of the law, being a Vigilante.

By this point either way his view of the Hero Society is more wide open, HE KNOWS the difficults of having a quirk that doesn't fit society's standards, HE KNOWS how hard it is to be viewed as the "bad one" for something you didn't have control over, HE KNOWS people would judge you based on literal bullshit if they can, so he doesn't risk it, he can't risk it for his mom, for the safety and the love Inko needs after "losing" his husband.

(they both are very aware of who Hisashi was and Inko is heartbroken, so Izuku doesn't want to make it harder for her by going out on full display on UA by wanting something that doesn't belongs to him)

This leads to him wanting desperately a change, to go out an Do Something for those like him, for those who are ignored by the ones who only wish more recognition, for those who, like him, were casted aside as "liabilities" for the Society.

He wants to be an All Might of sorts, but a little more... Discreet. Without the big announcement, the smile, the 'bunny ears'. He takes more after Eraserhead.

So, he becomes 'Reprise', a vigilante (criminal for those Good Ones™) who goes 'berserk' at night, beating up all types of Real Criminals, going from drug dealers to genuine Villains, freeing neighborhood after neighborhood and doing what some pros are supposed to do.

He takes the quirks of those who he despises, those who he thinks are the worst of the worst. With them, he doesn't hold back, he ambushes them, takes them off guard and takes their quirks as soon as he can.

It's a little bit like Stain, without the murder and the intensity, but he does share a bit of his ideals, mostly when it cames down to the 'True Heroes' and all that jazz.

News start to spread about the new 'villain' going around beating others just for fun, which leads to other villains wanting to prove themselves by conquering the 'Mad V', thus leading to those same villains ending up without a quirk and a wake up call.

(He's not directly involved with UA and the stuff happening to Class 1A, just briefly jumping in to stop Stain and saving Iida's life (IIDA'S LIFE, unfortunately that doesn't change the fact that Iida's entire life/career changed after that, the Hero Killer achieving his goal of damaging him forever))

With word on the street about a new vigilante doing 'God's Work' and defeating Villain after villain, the rumours make their way into UA halls and the police force, alerting Tsukauchi and Nedzu, which eventually leads to Bakugou knowing about it and having his suspicions.

(Neither Bakugou nor Izuku have encountered each other since the day Izuku left for America, so that)

Now about his appearance, he doesn't have the typical Gucci Eyebags for having insomnia, no. He does have the Gucci Eyebags for going around beating villains so late at night.

He IS a bit different regarding his looks, he DOES has his messy hair, but with an undercut (bc only God knows how much I love Undercut!Izuku), and tends to wear normal clothes. In short, he's not far from Canon Izuku but he's definitely different.

He's not the sad depressed snarky Izuku we love to see in fanfics, no. He's more compossed, polite, kind, but he is a loner, tends to stay in the corner of the room to try and get a hang of his surroundings. He's that kind of anime guy who is serious, has a few friends/classmates that he's friendly with, and mostly evades spotlight. He's not depressed, he's angry at the world for being unfair and angry at himself for allowing the world to hurt him.

That changes when he is Reprise. He becomes this violent vigilante who wants to make a change, who goes out at night to pick fights and steal quirks and do what the Pros don't. He's snarky, sarcastic, rude, he talks back and throws insults around the street as if nothing. He's not afraid of getting injured, he welcomes the pain as a reminder, a reminder that he's doing something and that Something is making other people feel safe and protected.

The Night is Still Young tends to be his catchphrase.

He actually goes with a therapist.

He continues writing his notebooks about quirks and pros, and even villains. He has a whole pack of them with all the quirks he has taken, how they function and how to improve them.

He goes to a well-known high school for Geniuses and Prodigies with interests in sports, maths, sciencies and the like, even those who want to make a living in the support drpartment goes there.

He thinks his fort is his Mind.

((I don't think I have to point it out, but his meeting with All Might & the Sludge Villain doesn't happen in this au.))

(Shigaraki is well aware of his existence, he doesn't know it's Izuku until Reprise tries to ambush him. Shigaraki's thrilled with the rumours about a heir of AFO running around ruining business, so he would obviously want to meet him at some point and maybe try and recruit him, convince him to join his Father's side.)

His first real, face-to-face encounter with Katsuki and the rest of Class 1A (some of them at least) happens during Kamino.

Todoroki, Yaoyorozu, Kirishima, Uraraka and Tsuyu are the ones who rescue him SOMEHOW, i'm not going into details because I can't think of them right now, but THEY saved Bakugou.

It's when the news about a creature created by the LOV broke out that he found out about his dad's survival. So he tries to gain information by breaking in the police's archives (thanks to a friend of his who happened to be a hacker) which led to him finding out about the upcoming raid at the LOV base, but he's Izuku, he KNOWS his dad, he KNOWS the type of man Hisashi is.

So, while the League of Villains location is there, he doesn't goes there. He makes an investigation of his own, finding clues, proof, following people. Using common sense, he finds the Warehouse where his dad is supposed to be.

Only, he doesn't makes it that far. He's scouting the area of Kamino, walking around aimlessly, praying that the raid goes well so the Pros can leave it there and continue pursuing fame so he can go to that same Warehouse and confront his dad and maybe throw a few punches and cry a few tears when all Hell breaks loose.

There's a thunderous tremor around him and the screens lights up and there's All Might, in all his glory (he's not a hardcore fan anymore btw) standing in front of a terrifying villain, and suddenly Izuku is very, very scared.

And so, he watches. His heart is in his throat, ready to be thrown up as his Dad fights against the man he used to look up to. He watches as All Might buries All For One into the ground like an unused toy, and he's a mess, he's crying alongside the other people, but he cries for his dad, for the man that he loved so much, and there's this feeling of bitterness in the pit of his stomach that he wants to ignore so desperately.

So he turns around and starts walking again. He remembers his dad, working with him and helping him to control his quirk, giving him the best hugs of the world, cheering him up when he was feeling like a waste of space. He remembers the loving husband and father that Hisashi used to be and he's feeling really miserable when he stops abruptly and looks up to find Bakugou just a couple of meters ahead of him.

The rest of the rescue squad is there, too. They're looking from Bakugou to Izuku really puzzled because the firecracker they know is eerily silent and this boy is just there, face blank with just a little bit of puffiness in his eyes.

So Bakugou, a witness to all the madness from that night in Kamino, with pent up frustration and anger, goes completely blank with emotions and calls him Deku, demands for answers to questions such as 'the hell are u doin here?' 'are you with them?' 'are you playing hero again, uh, fucking Deku?'

And Deku's just there, overwhelmed by grief, because he lost his dad in what he suspects is national television, and he knows his mom is probably at home, probably saw everything. He knows Inko is just as heartbroken as he is, and that hurts like hell because it's his Mom, his everything, the one person that holds importance in his heart that he has left.

And seeing Bakugou at that exact moment, it's too much, he's emotionally incapable to deal with him of all people at that very moment. So he just. Can't.

He looks at Bakugou, he looks at him, and says "you haven't changed anything, Kacchan" and Izuku completely ignores him, keeps walking as if nothing happened, as if it isn't a blonde pomeranian screaming after him to 'stop looking down at him, you fucking freak'.

(when he makes it home he tells his mom he was in Kamino when everything happened, and Inko starts crying real hard, and Izuku too, and everything is a mess)

After his Dad's defeat, he starts attacking Pros, mercilessly and ruthlessly, but only those who deserves it, those who he thinks have failed at doing their jobs of protecting people.

Tsukauchi is desperate to capture him, wanting to bring an end to the 'Heir of the Underground' as people, mainly villains, are calling him after AFO is brought down and the similarities between AFO and Reprise are pointed out. He knows that if he leaves him on the loose for too long, there's no turning back, Tsukauchi knows what's on the line for him and is afraid FOR Izuku, knows he can become a target later on, or he can take over his Dad's Empire and be worst.

He doesn't know is Izuku, and even if Bakugou is having a crisis over Reprise and everything going on around him (because of course is Deku, it's always been Deku) he can't go and tell them, he doesn't has proof, only memories from when he was a kid and a very obvious dislike of Midoriya Izuku.

So Bakugou buries Izuku and Reprise to the back of his mind and concentrates in his own shit, the internships and the provisional license and that jazz.

(I always saw a lot of hc about how everything changed for class 1A without Deku there. So I'm taking this too and a few others things. Can't remember where I saw them tbh but all credits to their rightful owners)

Not all of them, Class 1A that is, got their license, just a few lucky ones, but a great deal of them failed. They aren't that motivated nor are That strong. USJ changed them, showed them a truth they weren't expecting this early, and losing Iida just reminded them that.

Overhaul Arc it's the same, except that, in the middle of the battle against him, when Mirio was fighting Chisaki and protecting Eri, Reprise showed up and took Overhaul's quirk right after he shoot Mirio.

(Mirio, who had Permeability. Mirio, who had One For All. He loses both of his quirks.)

At this point, and with overhaul newly added to his collection with a few others, Izuku is mostly invincible. The chaotic vigilante he used to be becomes fierce, a force to be reckoned with, so when Tsukauchi hears about Reprise getting overhaul, he warns ALL of the Pros to be careful at encountering him.

The Hero Comission WARNS EVERY AGENCY that, in case of coming face to face with Reprise, they have to flee inmediately or suffer the consequences, which are losing their quirks and having to step down from being pros.

It becomes a really bad situation, with fear striking every Pro present, much more so after losing the Symbol of Peace, which leads to a vulnerability in those afraid of losing everything and leaving unprotected a few places, or outright giving up the title of Pro.

Everything comes down to the fateful meeting of Shigaraki and Izuku.

Shigaraki knows there's malice in Reprise, he knows he felt that pain too when All For One was captured, that's why he's going against Pros now, and he plans to use every ounce of that pain to bring him by his side.

Hey I feel like you’ve already answered this but what are some of your favorite iron man or Captain America comics and why? What story lines would you recommend? I’m curious about the more modern stuff. What’s some of your fav comic artists when it comes to marvel?

holy shit this got long so UNDER THE READ MORE WE GO

This is always kind of a hard question to answer because I personally have not read everything in regards to either Iron man or Captain America. I’ve read the Tales of Suspense stories a lot because I keep trying to start over from the very beginning. And that’s not always helpful if you just wanna dip your toes or give Iron Man/Cap a go.

So what I CAN tell you is here’s what I did when I was first getting into comics around 2012.

I went to Borders/Barnes and Noble and a I read a bunch of the compilations they had in the store. Someone has already done the work FOR you so its really easy to just pick up a book and read from there. 

I started out with Invincible Iron Man  (I’m gonna link to Amazon but I suggest not buying from them because Bezos is a demon [comixology is owned by amazon as well but it is a convenient app]) 

Marvel has its own comics app but if you also read and pay for other comics its not ideal. There are places to “read comic books online” and for older stuff I definitely do this now but for newer comics I’ll try to pay for them especially if its indie. Support indie comics!!! 

Anyway. Invincible Iron Man. A polarizing story in terms of Iron Man lore. But its definitely an easy one to get into and read especially if you’re coming in from MCU and are just testing things. You don’t necessarily need to know all of his history but it covers the basics. 

Next I’d try Demon in a Bottle It’s the original alcoholism arc. A must read for general Tony’s lore. This isn’t the one where he ends up a hobo on the street where Cap helps him escape from a burning building. But this is where he goes off the rails the first time. Bethany Cabe is his current girlfriend and tries to help him. And he kind of recovers. I’m not sure this is exactly a FAVORITE but it has a lot of the important shit for Tony. His temper is something that doesn’t get talked a lot about I think but he DEFINITELY has one. The art is very..........lol its not BAD per say but its also not like wow what gorgeous art. 

Another important Tony lore is Armor Wars So you wanna read the first few times Tony and Steve fight about REAL SHIT. This is it. This is the classic story where he realizes his tech is being used by bad guys and HE’S THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN STOP THEM NO CAP NOT EVEN YOU BECAUSE YOU’RE A GOOD GUY AND I MIGHT HAVE TO GET DIRTY. It has the classic Steve sitting in a dark room waiting for Tony to come back with his date and then throwing his shield at Tony going “I don’t want your trash”

It also has a lot of good Tony being in a morally grey area. *chef’s kiss* 

And then basically read all the fun stuff with Kurt Busiek in Vol 3 (This isn’t an amazon link but the marvel database so you know roughly where to start) 

VOLUME THREE HAS SUCH HITS LIKE

The Sentient Armor: Tony accidentally kills Whiplash in a lightning storm. The Armor comes to life. The armor falls in love with Tony and WANTS TO BECOME ONE WITH TONY. Tony does not want this. Tony is beat up and kidnapped and taken by the armor to a deserted island. The Armor is like Tony I love you so much GET IN ME NOW. Tony is about to die from a heart attack. The armor RIPS ITS HEART OUT AND SHOVES IT INTO TONY. Bye Tony I love you now we’re one forever. RIP

Tiberius Stone’s 2 arcs (they’re not in consecutive order but they’re both hella gay): Tony’s old boarding school friend shows up again and is a TV mogul and is DEFINITELY NOT Slandering Tony in the press or blowing up his buildings or framing him for MURDER oh my god Tiberius is a pain in the ass and we definitely boned down as teenagers but he would never frame me for MURDER but his TV devices that seep into your brain like the boob tube thing from Batman Forever are pretty suspicious. Oh no Tiberius IS a bad guy and he got me naked (why?) and hooked the both of us up to the TV machine and now we’re trapped in his horny tv dream why am I dressed like Alice in Wonderland???  ALSO HE SLEPT WITH MY GIRLFRIEND!!!!??

(This is why I will FOREVER get upset that Killian in Iron Man 3 isn’t Tiberius Stone. He IS LITERALLY FOLLOWING THE TIBERIUS STONE PLAYBOOK INCLUDING THE PHYSICAL LOOK WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE FEIGE YOU OWE ME MONEY!!!!)

Also at the beginning of Vol 3. Tony gets the absolute holy hell bejesus shit beat out of him. And that lasts for a WHILE and seeps into the Avengers Vol 3 (which you should also read its fun and I like that George Perez actually tries to make people look ethnically diverse but also you can tell Clint from Cap)

There’s also a part in vol 3 where Monica from FRIENDS shows up at a party and that’s a wild thing that happened.

But basically I think you can start just about anywhere with Iron Man and have a good time if you’re a deep Tony fan. He has a lot of great stories and its why he’s my favorite. Even this last run with Slott I still KIND OF LIKE ANYWAY??? bc its Tony. Its not always written to what a lot of long standing Iron Man fans would say is canon but I mean.....he’s got 57 years worth of comics behind him so he’s bound to change here and there. He was once a super villain, died, brought over as a teenager from an alternate timeline, and then merged with another Tony I forget the details but its silly lol

Side universe reading Iron Man Noir, Ultimates (Hickman’s run is very fun but also Ultimates 1 and 2. DO NOT READ ULTIMATUM IT IS GROSS, I HAVE READ IT FOR YOU ALMOST EVERYONE DIES ITS GROSS.

Ultimates is literally half of the basis for the MCU. Don’t read Ultimates Iron Man tho. Not only is it written by a creep its also extremely stupid and doesn’t even really make sense in terms of what happens later in Ultimates. It basically gets RetConned immediately.

Also Ultimates universe has Gregory Stark. Tony’s fun evil twin brother who for some reason is blonde. I can’t really give you a specific story to read with Ultimates because its the most god awful confusing universe to try and find stories from so I literally don’t even remember. I’d check an Ultimates fan blog for that.

AS FOR CAPTAIN AMERICA.

I love Steve Rogers. I really do. I think he’s a fun character. B U T. His comics for me can be very boring. He has some great arcs as someone who is supposed to be a representation of what a GOOD AMERICA can aspire to or whatever. But America often times SUCKS A LOT (our current times being very obvious). Cap definitely fights for what he believes and so that’s why he often takes off the garb of Captain America and runs around in a slutty v neck and a cape as Nomad. Or when he comes back from the dead and his BFF is the new Cap (WITHA  KNIFE) and wears the sexy Secret Avengers uniform. Very sexy. We stan the Colonel Rogers uniform very much. But his early comics are a lot of “OH MY GOD I KILLED BUCKY ITS ALL MY FAULT BUCKY!!!!! RICK JONES PUT ON BUCKYS CLOTHES THIS ISNT CREEPY I PROMISE”

A GREAT run in Avengers is the Cap’s Kooky Quartet or as I call Cap Joins the Baby Sitters Club. This goes WAYYYYYY back to Avengers 17 

It runs for a very good while before Giant-man and Wasp come back because Giant Man can’t shrink back down lmfao idiot. But its a lot of fun and establishes Cap as being a really good leader even tho he’s thrown into the hot seat because he was out on a mission and everyone else was like “We’re taking a vacay bye Cap. Good luck with the kids” *John Mulaney doing Andy Cohen impression* HUH WHAT WHY

I have no idea what to Rec really lol I know @sineala is part of a SteveTony 616 discord and they do readings every month(?) of either very SteveTony based arcs or specifically Steve or Tony arcs. But I think they have a better grasp of Steve stories than I do.

I would say most recently the run with Mark Waid and Chris Samnee as the artist is a VERY good read. The story is pretty nice and dry lol but the art. Holy shit.

I know there are a bunch of artists that really REALLY get Cap but Chris Samnee is probably my number one favorite Cap artist. Even his sort of retro style works with Cap SO WELL. And I like Mark Waid’s writing. Or at least I don’t think I’ve ever been really mad at it like with Dan Slott or Gillen (We will never forgive for what he did to Tony’s backstory and taking Maria from him) lol

Uh...but as far as I could tell the entire run where Bernie is his girlfriend is VERY good. She first shows up in Captain America 247 . Cap is an illustrator on the side (or as his main job) and man what a dope. His art habits are worse than mine like get a desk Steve. But this arc through Bernie goes through a lot of Steve being kind of stuck in the past and not knowing how to embrace the modern or future and Bernie is there being the coolest fucking chick in the world who’s studying to be a lawyer, watches Wrestling, listens to Bruce Springsteen (I think lol I forget), dunks on Cap for being a weirdo old dude. Very put together woman of the 80s. She proposes to Cap and because I think the writers changed he’s like I HAVE TO LEAVE IMMEDIATELY BYE. 

This isn’t on any of the main timelines but its a good read Captain America Man Out Of Time. Basically Cap coming to grips with the future and realizing the past sucked ew. lol Also he listens to Radiohead which Tony gives him a personal concert for because of course he does.

And then of course there’s this fucking TOME of a story Captain America: The Winter Soldier .

Im gonna sound a little negative but I don’t mean it against anyone’s favorite but I have the most exhausting time trying to read this story. I’ve tried at least three times lol. I think maybe Brubaker’s weird obsession with the Cold War (Remember when he called people who were yelling at Slott for being a creep a ‘Bunch of Commies’) is just so fucking heavy handed that I can’t personally get through it. I would much rather watch the movie.

HOWEVER. There’s good old Bucky coming back from the dead. Natasha. Sam Wilson. Sharon Carter. All big players in this story. So uh lol good luck with this one. If you’re also a Bucky fan this is a must read but as I only peripherally like Bucky I don’t care to read this one. 

So I’d check out this arc.

ok so, i don't like devin grayson. i don't like her writing at all, i don't think she gets the characters at all, and hot take: if you dislike a character who's super important part of dick's life, and helped him come into his own and be who he is, you shouldn't be writing that character. (i'm talking about kory here, but tbh if you dislike any of the characters who dick interacts with frequently and are a huge part of his life - especially his love interests, and his family - you shouldn't be writing dick.) so i'm not going into this story with high hopes. however i've seen ppl talk about this story as being really good so i hope i'll like it too

you can tell she mostly cares about the fab five, which wouldn't be a problem if she treated the ntt characters better but alas ://

this is def some of grayson's better work, but it suffers from the same thing all of her stories do. she doesn't fully understand all the characters. if one character is off it affects the whole story. a lot of her stories have good ideas and poor execution, and this one definitely doesn't have awful execution but there's still something missing and as someone who loves the titans it's just sad. i get why people like this story - it made me tear up at the end ngl - but the rest of the titans are just as important as dick and it feels like the writer doesn't understand that. (i get this is a dick comic but it's still a titans story.) (it does however make me want to write a fic expanding upon this moment and the aftermath bc the idea of the titans all coming together to cheer dick up is so goooooood. are they gonna have a party celebrating dick's parent's lives? are they gonna eat junk food and watch a comfort movie? are they gonna just sit and talk?? the possibilities are endless!!)

the art is gorgeous as all of jimenez' art is, i love his style so freaking much!!

the next page is of the bludhaven supporting cast and all it does is remind me how much i do not care abt them. i think the only one i actually like is clancy, the others are expendable and forgettable. (i do love clancy a lot though, i wish she'd been written by more people than just dixon). though, i usually love guice's art, i think i actually prefer mcdaniel's take on clancy??? which is 100% a first for me.

I’m honestly super excited over the prospect of a very well done f4 movie and like idk... seeing merch everywhere I look? But I’m mildly terrified of the fandom becoming huge. Bc huge attracts the crazy lol (I.e. m*u fandom) Since you are my official unofficial Queen of The Fantastic Four and have been rocking them forever... do you have any thoughts on this?

I guess my feelings on the subject right now boil down to “resigned.” I’m not thrilled about the whole Disney-Fox acquisitions deal from a big picture perspective and honestly as much as I love the Fantastic Four, I’m not comfortable viewing getting what’ll probably be a competently made, possibly fandom popular Fantastic Four movie as anywhere near an even trade for Disney’s global media takeover. It’s kind of like going “yeah Nestle’s chocolate syrup explosion contaminated 80% of the reservoirs but hey, more chocolate milk.” But whatever, the deal went through, and at least this means I don’t have to worry about execs throwing a fit about film rights and banishing my favorite team from the stands for years again. I’m not saying I won’t be excited later when more concrete plans for a Fantastic Four live action piece are in play, but right now there’s nothing concrete on the table as far as has been revealed to fans and I’m feeling pretty bleak about the consequences for the industry on the whole. But basically a Fantastic Four movie is one of the only properties left that would make me excited about seeing an MCU movie in theaters again. Is it going to be well done? I think that depends on some things.

Okay, I think an MCU Fantastic Four movie would be far more competently done then its predecessors, although that’s not exactly a high bar to clear. The MCU has a formula and that formula works very well for them, and I can’t see them breaking it for the Fantastic Four because it probably would actually be a fairly good fit for them. I think it is very suspicious that Captain Marvel is the only MCU movie receiving a lot of criticism for the MCU being formulaic in nature, because well -- they have been for a long time. It’s just that this is a formula that most audiences like, so nobody thought to complain about it until the lady movie, I guess. But yeah: formulaic. Big time. But this is one of those cases where I think it could work -- give a Fantastic Four movie a snappy script with some good jokes, a fun color palate, a found family theme, and plenty of bought reviews from critics (sorry, I don’t like Disney and I don’t like Disney’s well-documented practices) and I think an MCU Fantastic Four movie could really be a hit. Also, a well-written Johnny Storm would provide plenty of room for one of the MCU’s Egregious Car Scenes, considering Johnny’s a prodigy with automechanics, a car aficionado, and occasionally a professional racecar car. That being said: I am apprehensive about the Fantastic Four in the MCU, albeit mainly from a content perspective.

First off, I hope they let the Fantastic Four be the Fantastic Four and don’t shackle them to another established MCU property, like Spider-Man was. This is already difficult because, well, in a lot of ways, Avengers (2012), the movie that cemented the Avengers as the MCU’s premier superhero team, is a Fantastic Four movie with the Avengers MCU origin pasted on, and I mean this two ways. First, huge amounts of the plot elements featured in Avengers (2012) were lifted straight from an Ultimate Fantastic Four arc called God War (Ultimate Fantastic Four #33-38). How huge? God War features Thanos, Ronan the Accuser, alien whale spaceships, a similar mindcontrol plot to the Hawkeye and Black Widow one but featuring Ben and Johnny, the cosmic cube, and a character who is literally named Tesseract. It’s not an exact duplicate of the plot, but the similarities are heavy enough that I don’t think that can be ignored. The second is that the emotional heft and the consequences of Avengers (2012) -- a hostile alien presence threatens to destroy New York and then the whole world, a small group of heroes emerging victorious and getting thrust into center of things, greater awareness of super-threats and threats from outerspace -- is to the MCU exactly what the Galactus Trilogy (Fantastic Four #48-50) was to 616. So you couldn’t do an adaptation of the Galactus Trilogy now that would have the same heft and gravitas, not in the same way, and the only way they could position the Fantastic Four as the central group of superheroes is if Endgame does what everyone keeps whispering about and really does kill the majority of the Avengers -- which wouldn’t be great for a new Fantastic Four, actually, because it would incite fan hostility against them. Like you said: bigger fandoms, more problems. So either the MCU likely loses their role as the Beyonce of superheroes in the world’s eye, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but I DO think the in-universe fame is a big part of the Fantastic Four formula, or you start off the track with a bunch of fans already mad at them. (This is all speculation, mind. I have no idea what the mouse has planned. I’m just spitballing a couple years worth of frustration over MCU Fantastic Four takes.)

All that being said -- the idea of there being a bigger fandom for the Fantastic Four and the MCU bringing in more fans for the Fantastic Four, while it would have it drawbacks because all bigger fandoms have drawbacks (so do smaller fandoms, too), also would have some perks. A lot of people who initially got into the MCU later got into comics, and I would love there to be more Fantastic Four comic fans and more content creators for Fantastic Four fandom. I think Johnny Storm has all the potential to be a total fandom darling, if the cards are played right and they stick to his comics personality, especially his 60s comics portrayal. If the MCU cuts the borderline misogynistic horndog playboy schtick popularized by Chris Evans’ performance in the 2005/07 movies and goes along with the wavy-haired boybander levels of nonthreatening pretty boy team baby and frequent fainter of the comics? The fic. Think of the fic. I love Spideytorch, but I wish there was more Johnny-centric fic in fandom. He’s made for whump. (Granted, people will probably just make him Peter Parker’s conveniently located cardboard cutout boyfriend more, but that already happens, so I’m resigned.)

I don’t know. I’ll probably be more invested, either positively or negatively, as we learn more about what the actual MCU plans for the Fantastic Four are. But the above are my thoughts for right now. I’m still not happy about this deal in terms of having more a creative selection of movies in the future, and in the interests of Disney not owning everything.

I think I answered this q on this blog already? Maybe? But anyway, I don’t exactly mind it, but I can’t say I share the headcanon myself - for one, because I’m of the opinion that their bodies are built to withstand a safe use of their quirks (a bit like you can’t break a leg by simply walking, you know), so in general I’m not a fan of headcanons that include damages caused by simply doing what their bodies were born to do? 

But also because generally, even under the assumption that his body isn’t made to hold up with his explosions, isn’t it awfully convenient how only his ears take damage in these scenarios? What about his eyes? How come he can still see with no problems even with the continuous exposure to the explosions’ light? How about his hair? How come he can stand so close to fire without it ever being damaged by it? His palms have thicker skin and we know that thanks to his UA file, but what about the rest of his body? How come he can stand smack in the middle of an Howitzer Impact without getting even slightly burnt? When you say “only his ears aren’t made to withstand his explosions” what you’re telling me is that his whole body is tailord to deal with his quirk but his ears, and that just feels unrealistic to me - by which I mean, when this is the scenario we’re talking about, you can’t give the fault of the damage to Bakugou’s quirk. It’s a problem his body has, not a natural consequence of having that sort of quirk. And imho with those premises you sort of end up with a different kind of story, you’re supposed to write it differently - that’s what I think, at least

Ah, this is also another reason why I’m not a huge fan of the headcanon - don’t get me wrong! If you like it then go on, I’m not trying to stop anyone from enjoying ideas and possibilities!! But personally I like Bakugou not having any reason to be loud-mouthed and rude, that’s just his personality and how the environment he grew up in made him, and lately I’ve seen the hc used to justify his behaviour more than I like? Bakugou being an asshole is just who he is, and I love it! I love that his life made him like that and I love that he’s working hard to fix that flaw, giving him an external reason, something he has no control over, to justify his personality changes the core of his character too much, and that’s not something I’d ever want to do tbh

And it’s also cool to think that he was somewhat genetically engineered to be better in a fight to compensate for a lack of earing (though again, why only his ears and not his eyes or his sense of tact too), but that goes to cut on all the hard work he put in becoming as good as he is, right? If that’s what you like than who am I to stop you! But Bakugou’s hardworking nature is one of the things I love about him, I don’t really feel like taking away from him all the effort and work he put through the years in becoming as good as he is now

Uh, well, it’s not like I “haven’t considered” doing it, but more than a collage it’s… just how I always draw? Only usually I cut the pics for each of them to be a different image so they’re easier to see, while yesterday I was too lazy to do that and left them all on the same canvas haha so I guess yeah next time I’ll feel like drawing krkm if you’d like I can leave the drawings all in one pic, that’s just less work for me after all lol

i’m not mad and i’m not vagueing, i just wanna say that before anything.  i’m just making a melancholy observation.

back in my day in tungle fandom, when i first got really into it (maybe 2012 ish) it used to be fan fic (stories, one shots, meta) and fan art (gifs, graphics, comics) were on the same level.  like, depending on who you followed you would see just as much fic/meta as you would art.  now i hardly ever see fic unless i seek it out.

just for a comparison: i am a fic writer.  the only time i have touched ps is to make memes or bc i was bored and wanted to see if i could make an edit worth sharing.  i have been actively, regularly writing fic and meta for about a year now and never has a fic gotten over 20 notes.  i made a shitty edit using 4 screen shots and arial text saying exactly the same thing literally all of my other posts have said and it got 100 notes.  like... it’s the same thing??  the same content??  in fact, the meta post probably looked nicer.  like the edit wasn’t even good?

and another post i made, the text was copy/pasted onto a graphic post by another person (they linked the original and everything).  like it was the same content with some stills above it but it got like 500 notes in a week and my post is still sitting at 12 notes.

like.  i don’t want to sound like i’m whining.  i know a lot of people don’t want to interact with my blog bc i’m “””’’’”””””an ugly”””””’’’’””” or whatever bc i have multiple ships and don’t care for people being assholes to each other over fictional characters.  but i recently saw a Fandom Big saying the same thing, like someone i thought would be drowning in notifications is having the issue with content interaction.

what happened?  everybody used to have a fic rec page linked in their bio and some people even had like an html coded thing rather than a tag.  like fic was the thing that brought people together.  that was like.. the great unifier.  and people would try their hands at everything (even if they had a preference).  now it seems like you write one ship, one way and that’s your thing.  

i’m not devaluing fan art, by any means.  i’m just curious.  fan art and fic take about the same amount of effort and time, each with their own special struggles and challenges.  and they’re both done for free, for the most part.  and generally address the same topics.  is it the invention of patreon and how you can’t do fan fic there?  is it instagram and twitter having a growing fandom presence?  is it some kind of societal shift to prefer images to text?  like why is fic this dying part of fandom?

or am i just not aware of other fandoms and is it just this one?  

and then there’s the people, who when people who have less popular ships comment on or get frustrated that there’s not a lot of content, that say “”just make your own content.!!!  uwu im not being patronizing at all””.  like.. i have been making content.  it’s been a year since i started this blog and since then i’ve written about 25 works for my ship.  and countless headcanons and meta and tag essays.  and yet sometimes the edits i reblog get more notes from me than my oc for my ship.  and unless i prompt my friends, nobody else makes specific content for my ship.

it’s exhausting.  this is free labor.  i am a writer.  i take time out of my professional writing time to make this stuff and give it out for free and sometimes it feels like i’m doing it for nothing.  and there are people who enjoy my writing.  i continue to get prompts and messages and notes.  it’s just... 5 per post.  unless it’s through text on an image.  then it gets 100 in like three days.

anyway...  like/reblog fics you read.  leave kudos/comments on ao3.  the writer behind that story you loved is tired.  and it gets really easy to lose writing motivation when it feels like 2 people read your stories and they don’t even leave a comment so you can’t know that they liked it or hated it.

hello my dear followers! as you may have noticed by the funny letters in the beginning, it’s time for your friendly neighbourhood rper talk a little bit about something that bugs the shit out of her, first of all, i’d like for you to take into consideration the fact that i’m boring. like, i’m fucking boring and i tend to look closely to little mistakes that may or may not destroy my whole cinematic experience. second, i want y’all to know that i’m adhd and spider-man is a part of my life - in some instance, i’m him. and i’ve researched a lot about how adhders can get interested in things - there is something named hyperfocus, when you think A LOT about something, and a common nomenclature is special interest. so, before you say ‘’but bfish, you’re overreacting....’’ remember that this hero is one of the reasons i got over many hard times in my life. remember that.

so let’s go, get your popcorn, your soda, your spider-man comic (or avengers dvd, idk what’s your preference) and let’s swing right into the queens borough that is my hyperactive and passionate mind.

i hated homecoming. nowadays, i can say that with all the words. i hated homecoming. but, no, i don’t hate tom holland - in fact, i love him and he is an angel. i also met him and laura harrier in may and he signed my copy of spidey! the problem in the movie is far from him - he is a talented and sweet boy that deserves the world. but, unfortunately, his peter was poorly written. before you all start calling this brazilian ass names, let me explain the reasons why i think it was terrible. 

i. 〈〈 the complete erasement of uncle ben. 〉〉

no, my friends, that doesn’t mean that i wanted to see uncle ben dying and tom crying just as andrew and tobey did. no i didn’t want that, just as much as i didn’t want a flashback in batman vs. superman showing the death of the waynes. but the fact is, when a fact is important, you can’t simply forget that. i’m not saying i wanted a flashback, but i wanted ben’s death to have consequences on peter &&. may’s lives. honestly, i doubt the wise man even said to his nephew the most famous words in the story of comic books: 〈〈 with great power, there must also come great responsibility. 〉〉 in this interview, screenwriters revealed that the motto would feature, but in a peculiar way.

‘‘At the end when Happy [Jon Favreau] is in the boy’s room in school we had him say, ‘Oh yeah, Tony wanted me to tell you, “With great power comes… something, I forgot,”‘” Goldstein tells Yahoo Movies. “It was a little too meta.”

literally, they’d make happy tell peter the most iconic quote in the history of comic books in the wc and who’d be quoted? or almost quoted? yeah, tony stark. the new uncle ben. we see in the movie that ben’s death has llittle effect on peter’s maturity - he is still dumb and selfish, he still fucks things up without thinking in the responsibilities. mcu!ben is not the ben we know. it’s funny how they undeveloped the character that showed up in civil war: in that point, i was certain that tom holland would be way better than tobey once was as peter, and better than andrew was as spider-man. but he wasn’t, and that was a major turn down. in civil war, we see him fighting against experienced people, using his powers and saying basically this in other words. what happened to this peter? to the peter that showed traits of adhd and autism, to the peter that knew that with great powers, came great responsibilites, to the peter that loved may and didn’t want her to suffer. what happened?

ii. 〈〈 dad stark is the worst concept ever, fite me. 〉〉

i don’t get why people fetishize this shit so much. let me get into details over here: in case you’ve never read the comics, tony stark made peter’s life a living hell. why? because he betrayed him. tony, who peter was trying to see as a new sort of father, betrayed his trust and made him fight and stand for ‘’team stark’’, even though parker thought that shit wouldn’t happen. what happened to aunt may was tony’s fault. he manipulated peter, and, when the later noticed what happened and tried to back down, tony was furious. furious because he lost his puppet. steve said that tony would do anything in his power to take peter down after he openly exposed stark’s intentions in tv.

why is this relationship so terribly adapted? because rdj has charisma. people love him, people buy his merch. tony stark in the cinema is not the tony stark of the comics, he is robert downey jr. in a fucking iron suit. nothing more, nothing less. and the public loves that. tony stark, canonically, was about to be peter’s ‘’father’’, but he couldn’t. because you can’t replace a father like that! even more after the trauma that peter went through, being the cause of ben’s death. peter tried to find a father in tony, but it was impossible: tony used him, trashed him, manipulated him as a puppet, made his family a target of villains. 

there were hints of this relationship in civil war - like when tony threatens to blackmail him to aunt may and kidnapps him to fight among grown and trained adults. after all of that, stark left peter bruised and hurted in his legal guardian’s footsteps. he was done with him. and somehow, the fans didn’t get it. they love to victimize their dear tony stark - they can only see through black & white, forgetting that stark is not a hero, nor a villain. he is more of an anti-hero, when parker is a hero. the fans drawn fanarts, said he was son to stony/pepperony (oh my god idk which one of those is the worse). and marvel liked that - they wanted fanservice, and the studio gave them this.

the father to peter parker is and will ever be benjamin parker, husband to may parker (née reilly). the good and wise man who tried his best to deal with his teenager nephew, his stubborn and tempestuous nephew. the stans will come at me and say that it doesn’t matter anymore, ben is dead and tony is alive. but imma pull a quentyn martell here and ask you a thing: what matters the most? men’s life or their deaths?

iii. 〈〈 peter parker is team cap, period. 〉〉

from the day ben parker died and on, peter learned a lot of things. the youth promissed to always use his powers when he can, to act with justice. otherwise, the fault would be his. peter loves captain america, he is his idol - not iron man. may parker, his aunt, grew up in a generation when the sentinel of liberty was a symbol of resistance against nazi intolerance - and she most certainly passed it to peter.

he and tony may share technology talent, but steve and peter share much more. they share an idea - the idea of freedom, justice and good-will. it’s more than money, it’s a matter of honor. in the comics, he switched sides when noticed tony’s real intentions, and, taking the point that he said that beautiful quote in civil war, it’s more than a consumated fact that peter parker would be a member of team cap if he had had a choice.

peter parker didn’t know what he was fighting for, plus his appearence in civil war was a mere fanservice. it didn’t fit well, he was 100% not needed there. the hypocrite stark took him to a fight that wasn’t his to fight among trained adults AND, if that wasn’t already enough, didn’t tell him what he was fighing for. ‘’something about making cap mad.’’, i love how they explicitly throw the fact that tony manipulated peter in our face, and yet people deny to acknowledge this. your favorite character made a dick move, it won’t hurt if you admit that, friend o’ mine.

iv. 〈〈 aunt may is fucking hot. do you see it? SHE IS FUCKING HOT! 〉〉

yes, aunt may is hot and different from the version we had in the comics. is that a problem to me? hell, no. she is aunt may, not grandmom may. she can be young without any issue. the problem is the big deal they made of it. in the first scenes of the movie, we’re introduced to a said-nice joke of tony stark where he talked about may being sexy in front of her nephew. people don’t really get how stupid that is, right?

there are two moments more where i wanted to shove a knife up my ass. mr. dalmar saying, in spanish, how hot the descendant of italians is (oh my god that was so creepy WHY ARE YOU THIS WAY WHY GOD PLEASE WHY), and peter answering in an unusual &&. cunning way, asking how his daughter was (in spanish, of course. sex appeal, friends.) this is sexist as fuck. and also that ‘’larb’’ scene, i’m not even gonna get started because it’s so terrible. oh, you truly see how cool it is for a woman to be harrassed by many men because she looks hot. yeah, cool.

can you guys believe that aunt may was supposed to have a boyfriend in this movie? exactly. nine months after ben died. nine months. may dated a guy (that actually was really old and died) in the comics 100 issues after that event, and got married 500 issues later, to j. jonah jameson’s father, jj. she didn’t get over the loss of her husband that easily. no one does, unless you deeply wanted the person to die. now answer me, may (without aunt, cuz she is too young to receive this kind of treatment. have you ever imagined a hot aunt? unbelievable. she is just may.), did you want the love of your life to die?

v. 〈〈 progressive, but not so. 〉〉

queens is a diverse borough. i’ve read tweets of actual people that live there saying how there was only one white kid in a class of many students, or on how many filipinxs, latinxs & blacks over there. that is a thing i liked in the movie! it’s not the 60′s anymore, there has got to be non-white people in midtown. flash as a latino was quite nice, and so was liz. two charismatic characters and actors that i loved so much.

but the problem envolves ned &&. michelle, mj, whoever she is, i don’t care. ned is an amalgama of betty brant’s husband and hoblgoblin, ned leeds and miles morales’s best friend, ganke. he is the comic relief of the movie - the one that praises the hero, that wants to be like him. a movie that says that breaks a lot of stereotypes made a fucking poc fat character that is nothing but a comic relief. we don’t feel any character depth in ned, we don’t know anything of his family, he lives basically in peter’s function, the white standard boy being served by the poc fat boy. you get how progressive that shit is?

and also i’m going to touch a delicate topic over here: michelle. i’m not going to get in the merit wether she is mary jane or not, but i know one thing: she is a badly written stereotype. she is everything white straight sexist man think we, geek feminist women, are. she seems like she doesn’t take a bath, is always angry and grouchy. she bullies peter and stalks him, and, shockingly, even though zendaya was in every single piece of marketing and promotional tour, she had nothing in the movie, but four fucking minutes of ‘’empowering’’ jokes for the female viewers to ‘’identify’’ with. 

wonder why that’s this way? homecoming had eight screenwriters (that will, unfortunately, return to homecoming 2), and guess what? all of them are white men that see female nerds as nothing but a comic relief, right? that see feminists as grumpy and dirty. and i’d bet 10 good reais (brazilian local money) that she is gonna go through an awesome transformation to show female empowerment and date the protagonist. 

the name of the movie is spider-man: homecoming, but could be spider-man: hypocrisy.

vi. 〈〈 'nuff said. 〉〉

well, that’s it. i felt like i needed to take it off my chest, you know. as a spider-man fan, a lot of things in homecoming bugged me, and i disliked the movie so much. please, i ask you not to attack me. people are allowed to have different views from yours, that is ok. 

the conclusion of all this rant is that: tobey is my peter, andrew is my spider-man and tom is my idol as an actor. only that. the five reasons above are why i won’t include this mcu mess into my verses.

answering anon anti LO asks // S1 Finale

Questions and Answers under the cut, cause this is gonna be long!

(1) Go figure that the LO stans on here are praising Persephone for going evil and killing innocent mortals for PICKING FLOWERS. Do they know by their own logic persephone would murder them too? Over nothing? No wonder the average reader of it is only in their teens, they can’t tell deities are supposed to protect humans, not treat them like playthings to abuse and kill for any minor annoyance. 

(2) Wait, so when LO has Demeter starving mortals we’re supposed to see her as a cruel, unredeemable monster, but Persephone is empowered and in the right for murdering mortals because they picked flowers that killed nymphs she didn’t even like? How does that logic work out? How is that fair? Where the justice? Why can’t this spoiled child be held accountable for her own sins?

(3) I was disappointed in lo finale. Everyone talked how great and creppy it looked and i thought since it was a finale they would put some effort in making it  look better than usual. But this episode was like every episode-art was ok but not great. In my opinion it was worse than most of episodes bc in every episode there is 1-4 really good looking panels but in this one i didnt see nothing. They could put more effort into "persephone crazy killing moment" and in rest of panels since it was final.

(4) I just read finale... it's bad. And confusing. I think Persephone didn't murder the nymphs herself, they just died because of the villagers while she was yelling at them?? The pacing is really awkward in some moments, and the fact that most people seem to be cheering on her is just... ugh. Also some people are getting angry that she probably will be punished but not Apollo (for now), which is just weird because... sexual assault is horrible, sure, but it's not the same as literal MASS MURDER.

(5) Apparently the LO fandom is ripping each other apart on here trying to either justify Persephone's actions or the other half calling everyone awful and toxic because they're blindly supporting evil actions and how she's now irredeemable. You love to see it. I'm getting the popcorn as we speak.

(6) One thing i find so weird about LO is that there's such a weird emphasis on how Hades looks SO much older than Persephone to where she's confused for his kid. First off, why even mention that when so many are already creeped out by the age gap? Second, how can we tell? The character design is not good at showing this beyond making her looking like a ten year old or making him dress all dorky. Third, if he's actually that old looking then maybe Persephone has some daddy abandonment issues.... 

(7) Recently smythe posted on twitter drawing of Hades and giant Persephone wich looked like rhea. Its weird bc its not a first time smythe make persephone and rhea very similliar. For example thanatos description of persephone was perfect description of rhea. Maybe smythe wants to make story more greek by making hades have edyp complex XD

(8) I feel like a big problem with LO is it has no idea what it wants to be. Is it a teen drama? A comedy? A modern retelling? A coming of age story? A giant epic? A romance? A social commentary? Because i don't understand how we're supposed to reconcile Persephone being a naive college sophomore, a future (likely violent and cruel) queen, AND mass murderer all at once. If this was spread over several seasons and a long stretch of time i could get it, but it's only been two weeks in comic!

(1) As people from the fandom are saying, some readers are really projecting themselves to those characters so they will justify anything. Technically, the humans who picked flowers in the sacred place were on the wrong. BUT they didn’t know that picking flowers in this place killed nymphs. Persephone could punish them like a just goddess, but slaughtering them is just... evil. And you are right, those teens don’t treat the Greek gods as deities or even cultural figures.

(2) You should know by now that “plain” protagonist with big boobs = good. This is how pop culture works! 😅

(3) I fully agree with you in every point! Smythe needs help with the comic when it comes to pacing and art. Yes, MORE HELP

(4) Yes, from my understanding she wasn’t the one who killed them. Humans happen to gather flowers at this moment and this killed the nymphs. (which is not a thing in Greek mythology BUT OK). I know that it’s very cruel to “compare” crimes but, unfortunatelly, we have to do it in this case. (Because the narrative will push us to think that Persephone is the more just of those two.) LO Persephone deserves more punishment than LO Apollo for what she has done (if the allegations are true).

(5) I think I should see these posts and have some of that hot tea! It’s interesting to see that some people justify Persephone. “She got very mad!!“ they say, as this this an excuse for killing a whole town of people who did nothing. I also watched them say “marrying Hades will be her punishment for what she did“. In what world marrying one of the mightiest and richest gods WHO ALSO LIKES YOU AND WHOM YOU LIKE a punishment for massacre? Also, Hades is a corporation now so it’s not like she will be locked there if she goes.

(6) In the recent video I posted, which had an analysis on LO, it’s specualted that Smythe has a kink for big age gaps and different sizes of people. Hades would probably look like a man in his forties? (The man whom Smythe would fancy). But I agree the character design is terrible and I cannot tell exactly what age he is supposed to look like.

(7) So THIS is how she chose to include Greek culture into the story 😂 Also, the picture is probably a reference to Blade Runner or another sci fi movie, where the protagonist has lost his AI gf and then he realizes she was just a product, after he watched a AI woman just like her on a big screen talking to him. (8) This is very true. I had these questions inside me but they were under the surface and never bothered me much. But I think the comic has no clear line, atmosphere, audience etc. Young teens and people over 25 are fans of it. But I don’t think it’s deep enough to have social commentary xD We all suspect that the actions of Persephone will be excused in the end.
