And I Pick...
In which you choose the club that caught your eye
Part 1
Tumblr media
After much contemplation you've finally decided to pick the:
Basketball Club
The basketball court was quiet for all of two seconds after you announced your decision.
Then Ace exploded.
"HA! I knew you’d pick us! I called it!" He was practically doing laps around the court, pointing at nothing in particular. "Ace Trappola: the ultimate recruiter, the club MVP, and now the guy who brought you on board! This is the best day of my life!"
"Eh, it’s about time," Floyd drawled, stretching lazily. "Took ya long enough to figure out where the fun is." His sharp-toothed grin widened. "Now we can play my version of full-contact basketball. Hehehe."
"Absolutely not," Jamil cut in, but Floyd wasn’t listening.
"Don’t worry," Floyd said, throwing an arm around your shoulders like you’d been lifelong teammates. "If you survive the first practice, you’ll survive all the practices. Probably."
Ace jogged back over, breathless but triumphant. "I told you we’re the best club! No boring rules, no endless laps like in Deuce's lame track team, and best of all—" He struck a dramatic pose, arms wide. "You get to hang out with me every day!"
"Please don’t make them quit on the first week," Jamil muttered, giving you a look that seemed to say, Are you sure about this?
"Quit? Nahhh!" Ace grinned. "They’re gonna thrive here. I’ll even teach them my signature moves—like my no-look, backwards, mid-air layup."
"You can’t even do that," Jamil said flatly.
"Not yet," Ace shot back. "But it’s the thought that counts."
Floyd leaned in closer, his grin somehow growing wider. "You better keep up, shrimpy. Otherwise, I might have to… spice things up a little."
"Spice things up?" you echoed, immediately suspicious.
"He means doing things like replacing the basketballs with watermelons," Jamil deadpanned.
Ace snorted. "Or throwing the ball at the hoop so hard it breaks the backboard. Oh wait, that actually happened. Twice."
"It was fun," Floyd said, completely unrepentant.
Jamil sighed like a man who’d aged a decade in the last five minutes. But then, to your surprise, he turned to you and offered a small, genuine smile. "Still… I’m glad you’re here. Welcome to the team."
The words were simple, but coming from Jamil, they felt like a warm endorsement.
Ace clapped his hands together, clearly ready to move things along. "Alright, enough talking! Let’s get you on the court and see what you’ve got!"
"Or we could start slow," Jamil suggested, but Ace was already dragging you toward the center of the court, Floyd trailing behind with a basketball under one arm.
"Don’t worry," Floyd said, tossing the ball up and catching it effortlessly. "If ya mess up, we’ll just laugh at ya a little. No big deal~."
"No one’s laughing at anyone," Jamil said firmly, already pinching the bridge of his nose.
Ace threw an arm around your shoulder, grinning from ear to ear. "Ignore him. We’re gonna have a blast! First practice starts now!"
You weren’t sure what you’d gotten yourself into, but judging by their enthusiasm (and Floyd’s maniacal laughter), you were in for one chaotic ride.
Tumblr media
Track and Field Club
The moment you declared your allegiance to the track and field club, Deuce’s face lit up like someone had just told him he passed his midterms.
“You’re… really joining?” he asked, like he needed double confirmation. When you nodded, his grin widened, the kind that made him look both relieved and excited. “That’s awesome! Uh—welcome to the team! Seriously, it’s great to have you.” His usual earnestness shone through, and he scratched the back of his neck. “I mean, I’m still kind of learning the ropes, but we can figure things out together. It’s gonna be great!”
Jack, standing beside him, gave a firm nod of approval. “Good call. Track and field’s a solid choice. You’ll fit right in.” His tail wagged just enough to betray how happy he was, even if his tone stayed calm.
"Yeah!" Deuce agreed. “And, uh, don’t worry about keeping up or anything. It’s all about improving at your own pace. Right, Jack?”
“Sure,” Jack replied, glancing at you. Then he added, almost casually, “We’ll work on your stamina. You’re gonna need it.”
It took you a second to catch the faint glint in his eye, and then you remembered—oh no, the fridge comment. Jack had been disturbed ever since.
Deuce, oblivious to the subtext, chimed in, “Yeah, Jack’s great at that stuff! He’s got this crazy endurance. Like, he can run forever. I’m still working on it, but, uh, you’re in good hands!”
Jack’s tail swished again. “Just be ready to push yourself. But don’t worry—we’ve got your back.”
“Exactly!” Deuce said, his fists clenching like he was ready to run a marathon right there. “This is gonna be awesome. I mean, not that it wasn’t already great, but now it’s even better. Right, Jack?”
Jack gave a small, satisfied smile. “Right.”
As they led you toward the field, you couldn’t help but wonder what you’d just signed up for. One thing was certain, though—Jack’s still thinking about that fridge, and he will make sure it’s not an issue anymore.

Board Game Club
The moment you declared your allegiance to the board game club, Azul adjusted his glasses, looking smugly pleased with himself, like he'd just negotiated the deal of the century.
"An excellent decision," he said, his voice as smooth as the perfectly polished board games stacked behind him. "With your addition to our club, I foresee a new golden age of strategic victories."
Idia, sitting half-hidden behind a pile of unopened game boxes, choked on his energy drink. "W-Wait, you’re serious? They actually chose us?" His hair flared a brilliant shade of pink for a moment before he pulled his hoodie tighter around himself. "Th-this isn’t some prank, right? Like, I’m not gonna look up and see them bolting out the door laughing, right?"
"Nope," you replied with a grin. "I’m all in."
Ortho, ever the enthusiastic hype man, zipped into the room with his jet thrusters. "Welcome to the club! Now we have a full party for dungeon raids. This is amazing!"
Azul cleared his throat, waving a hand. "Ahem, while cooperative RPGs are certainly an option, I believe we should start with a game of strategy and wit to introduce them properly. Perhaps a round of Chess of Betrayal?"
Idia groaned, sinking further into his hoodie. "Ugh, that game takes, like, three hours. If you’re gonna scare them away, at least wait until they’re too deep in to quit. Why don’t we start with something easy, like Goblin King Gauntlet?"
Ortho clapped his hands. "Ooh, I love that one! It has a random trap mechanic! Let’s play that!"
Azul raised an eyebrow, his smile shark-like. "Trap mechanics are hardly a proper welcome. It would be far better to demonstrate the finer nuances of strategy, wouldn’t you agree?"
Idia muttered something about Azul turning everything into a power play, but you interrupted before they could spiral into a full-blown debate. "Honestly, I’m fine with anything. Just deal me in."
Azul’s smirk widened. "Very well, then. I shall prepare the game board. And don’t worry, I’ll make certain you’re fully equipped for our upcoming campaigns. You’ll find we offer more than just fun—we offer victory."
Idia peeked out from his hoodie, a small, hopeful smile creeping onto his face. "You’re not bad at this whole club thing. Maybe this won’t be so terrible."
As they started setting up the game, you felt an unexpected warmth. Sure, it was just a board game club, but there was something endearing about their chaotic enthusiasm.
Though one thing was clear—Azul would probably try to sell you game tokens at some point, and Idia would absolutely try to teach you how to min-max your dice rolls.
But hey, you were ready for it.

Film Studies Club
When you announced your decision to join the film studies club, Vil paused mid-sip of his herbal tea, one elegantly arched eyebrow rising. For a moment, he looked like he was considering whether he had heard you correctly. Then, with a practiced air of nonchalance, he set the teacup down.
"Hm. Acceptable," he said coolly, though his tone betrayed a slight uptick of satisfaction. "It’s rare to find someone with enough taste to appreciate the art of cinema. I suppose your presence will be… useful."
But the slight curl of his lips gave him away.
He stood, brushing imaginary dust from his coat, and gave you an appraising look. "We have much to discuss. If you’re serious about this, you’ll need to commit entirely—no half-measures, no excuses. The camera is unforgiving, and I have no intention of allowing this club to falter under subpar contributions."
You opened your mouth to respond, but he was already pacing, gesturing dramatically like the star of an avant-garde production. "Lighting, blocking, composition—they are all integral to creating art, not merely entertainment. I trust you won’t embarrass yourself, or me, for that matter."
Despite his words, you caught the faintest hint of pride in his gaze as he turned to face you fully. "And, if for some reason, acting isn’t your strength, there are other roles. Cinematography, set design, editing… Perhaps backstage work would suit you, should you fail the audition."
He didn’t say it to be harsh; this was Vil’s version of encouragement. And as he continued outlining the club’s vision—"a modern renaissance in storytelling"—you realized he was genuinely excited to have you there, even if he’d rather gargle poison than openly admit it.
Finally, he stopped and gave you a small, approving nod. "Welcome to the film studies club. Don’t make me regret this."
Translation: I’m glad you’re here.

Science Club
The moment you announced your decision to join the science club, Rook’s eyes lit up like you’d just declared him the ruler of the universe.
"Ah, mon ami! What a magnifique choice!" he exclaimed, sweeping you into a theatrical bow so deep you thought he might topple over. "You possess the soul of an explorer, a true seeker of knowledge! Together, we shall unlock the mysteries of nature and celebrate its beauty in all its forms!"
"Uh… don’t scare them off, Rook," Trey interjected, though he was smiling. He adjusted his apron, clearly relieved that you hadn’t bolted under Rook’s enthusiastic greeting. "We’re glad to have you. Really. It’s nice to have someone else around who won’t accidentally set the lab on fire."
You raised an eyebrow. "That’s a low bar."
Trey shrugged. "You’d be surprised how many fail to meet it."
Before you could respond, Rook was already spinning grand plans. "Imagine the adventures we will have! Scaling mountains, crafting elixirs, nurturing delicate blossoms—ah, the poetry of science!" He clasped his hands to his chest, radiating so much joy that you were worried he’d break into song.
Trey, ever the grounded one, sighed fondly. "What he means is: we do a little bit of everything. Growing plants, chemistry experiments, cooking—you’ll fit right in. Assuming Rook doesn’t scare you off first."
Rook turned to Trey with an exaggerated gasp, as if the very suggestion of him being overwhelming was the greatest insult he’d ever received. "Chevalier des Roses, how could you wound me so?" He turned back to you with a theatrical flourish. "Fear not! I shall be your guide, your companion, your—"
"Assistant," Trey cut in, giving you a knowing look. "We'll assist you. Don’t let him take over your projects."
You grinned, feeling oddly at home already. Between Rook’s boundless enthusiasm and Trey’s steadying presence, you realized the science club might just be the perfect balance of chaos and calm.
Tumblr media
Pop Music Club
When you announced your decision to join the Pop Music Club, Lilia was the first to react. He shot up from his chair with a dramatic flourish, his cape—where did the cape come from?—billowing as if on cue.
"Ah, an excellent choice! Welcome to the most electrifying club in the entire school!" Lilia declared, his voice reverberating like an arena announcer. He played an imaginary riff on an air guitar, complete with sound effects that you were almost certain were magically amplified.
Kalim clapped his hands, beaming as brightly as the sun. "This is going to be so much fun! We can sing duets, make up dances, throw a party for every new song we write—oh! We should have a welcome party for you right now!" He was already halfway to grabbing balloons out of thin air before Cater stopped him.
"Easy there, Kalim," Cater said with a laugh, pulling out his phone to snap a picture. "We haven’t even started jamming yet! Gotta document this first—‘New Member Alert 🚨🎶! Welcome to the coolest club at NRC!’” He posed next to you, flipping through filters. "Ooh, should we do a pastel vibe or go all-out neon?"
"Why not both?" Lilia suggested, somehow holding a tambourine he hadn’t been holding two seconds ago. He shook it with gusto, the jingles creating an impromptu beat.
Kalim joined in instantly, dancing around the room with energy that could probably power a small city. "This is going to be amazing! Do you play any instruments? Can you sing? Or maybe you’ll write the songs? Wait, can you do all three?!"
Before you could answer, Lilia leaned in with a conspiratorial grin. "Don’t worry, even if you’re terrible, I can teach you. After all, I’ve had centuries of experience."
"Centuries of experience at what exactly?" you asked, though you weren’t entirely sure you wanted the answer.
"Everything," Lilia replied cryptically, shaking the tambourine once more for emphasis.
Cater gave you a wink. "Don’t let him intimidate you. He’s mostly harmless. Mostly."
As the chaos swirled around you, you realized joining the Pop Music Club was probably going to be as much about managing everyone’s energy as it was about making music.
But looking at their genuine excitement, you couldn’t help but feel you’d made the right choice. It was going to be loud, unpredictable, and—most importantly—a lot of fun.
Tumblr media
Equestrian Club
When you chose the Equestrian Club, Riddle’s reaction was immediate and deeply Riddle. He straightened his posture, cleared his throat, and gave you a small but dignified nod, though his ears turned the faintest shade of pink.
“A wise decision,” he said primly, but his voice wavered just enough to give away his excitement. “The Equestrian Club values discipline and care, and I trust you will uphold those values. Welcome.” He paused, then added with uncharacteristic softness, “I’m glad you chose us.”
Sebek, on the other hand, reacted with his usual intensity, which was to say, very loudly.
“AS EXPECTED OF SOMEONE WITH DISCERNING TASTE!” Sebek bellowed, saluting for no discernible reason. “THE EQUESTRIAN CLUB IS A PLACE OF HONOR AND DILIGENCE. YOU HAVE MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE, AND I, SEBEK ZIGVOLT, SHALL PERSONALLY ENSURE YOU MEET OUR HIGH STANDARDS!”
“You’re going to scare the horses,” Silver muttered, patting a dozing mare who didn’t even flinch at Sebek’s volume. Clearly, she’d built up an immunity.
Silver turned to you with a sleepy but genuine smile. “Welcome. It’ll be nice having another person around who actually seems calm. I’ll show you the best places to ride, and we’ll make sure you’re comfortable with the horses.”
“And with the rules,” Riddle interjected, already retrieving a stack of laminated pages. “Equestrian care is not something to take lightly. You’ll need to memorize these guidelines to ensure both your safety and that of the horses.”
Sebek leaned over your shoulder to inspect the stack and immediately saluted again. “AN EXCELLENT INITIATIVE, HOUSEWARDEN ROSEHEARTS! I, TOO, WILL MEMORIZE THESE IN CASE THEY EVER REQUIRE REINFORCEMENT!”
“I think they’re fine,” Silver said. “We don’t need to make this harder than it needs to be.”
Riddle frowned. “Standards exist for a reason, Silver. Though I appreciate your enthusiasm, perhaps we can—Sebek, stop shouting—perhaps we can go over the basics first before overwhelming them.”
As Riddle and Sebek debated, Silver handed you a carrot to feed one of the horses. “Don’t worry,” he said, as the horse happily munched away. “It’s not as intense as it seems. Usually.”
You glanced at the stack of rules in Riddle’s hand and the fervent look in Sebek’s eyes. It was definitely going to be an adjustment. But seeing how genuinely happy they all were to have you—yes, even Sebek—you felt like this would be worth it.

Magift Club
When you announced your decision to join the Magift Club as their manager, the reaction was instantaneous and… surprisingly chaotic.
Ruggie let out a whoop, immediately dropping to the floor in a mock bow. "Ayo, everyone, bow to the boss! Finally, someone who can keep this circus in line!"
Leona, lounging on the sidelines, cracked open an eye and smirked. “’Bout time. Herbivores usually flake out, but I knew you were better than the rest.” He stretched lazily, like he’d personally orchestrated your decision. “Just keep the snacks coming, and we’ll get along fine.”
Epel looked between them and grinned, his enthusiasm much more grounded. “It’s great to have ya! With you around, maybe Leona will actually show up to warmups... or not just sleep through it.” He shot a pointed glance at their captain, who was, of course, ignoring him entirely.
“Eh,” Leona drawled, flicking his tail dismissively.
“You could work on that attitude,” you muttered, earning a low chuckle from him.
“See, I told you they’d fit right in!” Ruggie said, gesturing at you dramatically. “They’re already roasting him. This is gonna be great!”
Epel, suddenly inspired, added, “And they’ll keep Ruggie from stealing the fresh apple juice we get after games. That’s worth it alone.”
As the reality of your new role settled in, you felt a bit like a lion tamer walking into a den of mischievous cubs and one very lazy big cat. But their enthusiasm—expressed in their own peculiar ways—was endearing.
Ruggie threw an arm around your shoulder. “Alright, boss, first order of business: snacks! Let’s discuss our game day budget and whether I can convince you to sneak me a sandwich before practice.”
Leona snorted but didn’t argue, which you took as a sign of approval. Epel pumped his fist. “We’re gonna crush it this year!”
Maybe managing this bunch wouldn’t be so bad after all. If nothing else, it’d definitely be entertaining.

Mountain Lovers Club
When you joined Jade for a hike to "test the waters" of the Mountain Lovers Club, you had your doubts. You were prepared for a lot of things—maybe getting lost in the wilderness, maybe Jade pulling out his eerie cryptid knowledge, or maybe just a weirdly formal lecture about moss. What you weren’t prepared for was… actually enjoying yourself.
Jade led the way with an unhurried confidence, pointing out various wild plants, their uses, and fun facts about the environment. He wasn’t his usual enigmatic self, either. He seemed lighter, almost enthusiastic, as he described a tiny wildflower you would’ve missed entirely.
“This particular species only blooms during the autumn months,” he said, crouching to show you. “Quite fascinating how it adapts to the cooler temperatures, don’t you think?”
You nodded, trying not to stare too hard at how his face lit up when he spoke. Jade was… cute? When he wasn’t talking about mushrooms in a way that made you question your mortality, he was actually kind of charming.
By the time you reached a rocky outcrop with a gorgeous view of the campus, you realized you’d been smiling for most of the hike. Jade noticed too.
“It seems I’ve made a decent impression,” he said, turning toward you with a soft grin. “I’m pleased to see you enjoying yourself.”
“It’s… relaxing,” you admitted, surprising even yourself. “I didn’t think it’d be this fun.”
Jade tilted his head. “Does that mean you’d consider joining the Mountain Lovers Club?”
You hesitated for a moment, but as you looked at the breathtaking view and the rare, genuine smile on his face, the answer came easily. “Yeah. I’ll join.”
For a split second, Jade’s eyes widened in surprise, but he quickly schooled his expression into his usual composed smile. “Wonderful. I must say, I wasn’t expecting this outcome, but I’m glad. It’s not every day someone sees the beauty in what I love.”
There was an odd warmth in his voice that made your heart skip a beat. As he turned to lead the way back, he added, “Now that we’re a team, I look forward to our next adventure.”
Jade Leech was genuinely happy. And, you realized, so were you.

Gargoyle Research Society
When you told Malleus you were joining the Gargoyle Research Society, his reaction was almost imperceptible at first. A slight widening of his eyes, a pause as though he was waiting to see if you were serious, and then—pure, unfiltered delight.
"You have an interest in gargoyles?" he asked, his voice both surprised and reverent, as if you'd just confessed to enjoying a rare and ancient art form.
You nodded. "Yeah. I think they're fascinating. The designs, the history… They’re like stone guardians with stories etched into them."
For a moment, Malleus simply looked at you, his emerald eyes shimmering like the light of distant stars. Then, as if unable to contain his joy, he smiled—a soft, genuine expression that sent a wave of warmth through the chilly Ramshackle evening.
"This pleases me greatly," he said, his tone unusually light. “Not many share my appreciation for gargoyles. Often, I speak of them, and others… how do I put it? Pretend to listen.”
“Well, I’m definitely not pretending,” you said, grinning. “I’m in for real.”
Malleus clasped his hands together in what could only be described as regal excitement. "Then I must share something with you. Sometimes, I create gargoyles myself."
“You what?” you asked, laughing in delight.
“Yes,” he replied earnestly, his eyes alight. “Carving stone requires patience, but there is a certain satisfaction in breathing life into something lifeless. Well, not literal life, of course, but a soul of sorts.”
You couldn’t help but laugh again, the image of Malleus with a chisel and hammer popping into your head. “I never would have guessed. That’s… really cool.”
“I can show you some of my creations, if you’d like,” he offered, almost shyly.
“I’d love that,” you said, genuinely glad to have joined him. “I think I’m going to enjoy this club.”
The glow in his expression was impossible to miss. It wasn’t just that you had joined his club—it was that, for once, someone truly shared his passion. “And I am glad to have you,” he said softly.
In that moment, under the watchful eyes of the stone guardians scattered around campus, it felt like you had chosen exactly the right place.

The Twinkie rattled and groaned as it made its way down the dark, winding path toward Redfield Cemetery. The headlights cut through the fog, casting eerie shadows across the crooked headstones and gnarled tree branches. It wasn’t exactly an inviting scene, but the adrenaline coursing through my veins made it impossible to feel anything other than excitement.
“Alright, we’re here,” John B announced, slowing the van to a stop.
JJ, sitting in the passenger seat, turned back to look at the rest of us. His face was lit with that mischievous grin he always wore when we were about to do something we probably shouldn’t. “Grave-robbing. Just another Thursday for the Pogues, huh?”
“Do you ever stop joking?” I asked, raising an eyebrow at him.
“Never,” JJ shot back, his grin widening. “It’s part of my charm, Princess.”
Kiara rolled her eyes from her seat beside me. “More like part of your problem.”
“Don’t act like you’re not charmed, Kie.” JJ smirked before turning his attention back to me.
I glanced at JJ, who was sitting beside me in the van. He flashed me a grin, clearly unbothered by the spooky setting.
The six of us climbed out of the van, flashlights in hand, and made our way through the creaky iron gates. The cold, damp air seemed to wrap around us like a blanket, and the crunch of our footsteps on the gravel path was the only sound.
“Nervous, Princess?” he teased, nudging me lightly with his elbow as John B explained who Redfield was to Kie and Pope, I stopped listening while JJ talked to me.
“Not even a little,” I shot back, trying to sound braver than I felt. JJ’s smirk widened, his blue eyes glinting in the low light.
“Uh-huh,” he said, draping an arm over my shoulders. “Just stay close.”, he looked around.
I rolled my eyes, but my lips twitched into a smile despite myself. “I’ll be fine, JJ. Try not to get scared yourself.”
Kiara stepped forward, her gaze fixed on the old tomb at the center of the graveyard. “That’s it. Redfield.”
We stood in a loose circle around the entrance to the tomb at Redfield Graveyard, the cool night air heavy with tension. The ancient stone slab loomed before us, its surface cracked and moss-covered.
“Alright, so how are we gonna do this?” Pope asked, his hands on his hips.
“We can’t exactly just… bust it open,” John B muttered, running a hand through his hair as he examined the tomb. “It’s loud, and it’s stone. We need a better idea.”
“I can fit,” I said confidently, my voice cutting through the conversation.
JJ looked up sharply, his brows furrowing. “What?”
“I can fit through there,” I repeated, pointing to the narrow gap in the tomb’s side.
“That’s, like, half a foot wide,” JJ said skeptically, gesturing at the gap. “Y/n, you’re not a noodle.”
“Don’t need to be,” I shot back, already stepping forward to test the space. I turned to them with a smirk. “I used to do gymnastics, I’m flexible.”
“Yeah, well, flexibility isn’t gonna help if a snake bites you,” JJ said, crossing his arms.
Kiara stepped closer, inspecting the gap. “She might fit,” she said thoughtfully, glancing at JJ. “It’s tight, but it’s doable.”
JJ rolled his eyes. “Oh, sure. Let’s just risk Y/n getting wedged in a 200-year-old tomb. That sounds like a great plan.”
“Got a better one, Maybank?” I challenged, raising an eyebrow.
JJ opened his mouth, paused, then shut it again. “No. But that doesn’t mean I like this one.”
John B clapped JJ on the shoulder. “She’s our best shot, man. Let’s just keep watch while she goes in. If it goes south, we’ll pull her out.”
JJ sighed, shaking his head but stepping back. “Fine. But if you get stuck, I’m not crawling in there to save you.”
I smirked. “Noted.”
As I started squeezing herself into the gap, standing on JJ’s interlocked hands hoisting me up, he muttered under his breath, “You better not get bitten, I’ll lose my shit.”
After what felt like forever, I emerged, holding a parcel labelled, “For Bird”.
“Got it!” I said triumphantly, my voice cutting through the silence.
We all scrambled back to the Twinkie, fearing someone behind us, the atmosphere was buzzing as we sped away from the graveyard, the parcel sitting like a relic on the seat between John B and Kiara. The air felt electric, each of us buzzing with anticipation and pride for pulling off what felt like a legendary heist.
“Hell yeah!” Pope shouted, his fist pumping into the air. He turned to John B with a wide grin. “We’re unstoppable, bro!”
“Yeah, baby!” JJ added, his excitement infectious. His voice carried over the din of cheers, and I saw him glance my way, his grin lingering just a little too long before he turned back to the others. I thought nothing of it, too caught up in the energy of the moment.
We screeched into the driveway of the Chateau, all of us pouring out of the Twinkie like over-caffeinated kids. The parcel was carefully placed on the table inside, the reverence of the moment sinking in as John B opened it with careful hands. Inside was a tape recorder and a stack of notes, Big John’s voice crackling to life as John B pressed play.
Big John’s words echoed in the room, his instructions clear but cryptic, urging John B to follow the clues that would lead to the Royal Merchant and the gold.
The air was thick with emotion when the recording ended. For a moment, none of us spoke, the weight of what we’d just heard settling over us. Then, in true Pogue fashion, the tension broke with a cheer, each of us swept up in the joy of what we’d accomplished.
“Man, we’re really doing this,” Pope said, shaking his head in disbelief as he grinned at the rest of us.
Kiara pulled John B into a hug, her voice filled with pride. “Your dad was onto something big, JB.”
We all started hugging, caught up in the moment. JJ grabbed me, lifting me off the ground in his excitement.
“Put me down, you idiot!” I laughed, smacking his shoulder as he spun me around.
He laughed, his grin widening before finally setting me back on my feet.
When we pulled apart, his hands lingered on my arms, his blue eyes catching mine under the dim light of the kitchen. For a second, everything else faded, his gaze softening as he looked at me.
“What?” I asked, my voice quieter than I intended.
“Nothing,” he said, shaking his head like he was shaking off a thought.

“Hey,” JJ said suddenly, coming up behind me as I was throwing the old moldy bread away, breaking the silence.
I glanced back at him. “What?”
“Come on,” he said, grabbing my hand and tugging me toward the door.
“What are you doing?” I asked, startled.
“Just come on,” he said, his fingers warm around mine.
As he led me outside, I could hear the others laughing behind us.
“Oh, this is happening,” Kiara called, her voice dripping with amusement.
“Finally!” Pope added, and I groaned.
“Shut up!” I yelled over my shoulder, my cheeks heating as JJ pulled me further away from the house.
“Let them talk,” JJ said, laughing as we made our way toward the beach.
The moon hung low over the water, casting a soft silver glow over the sand. We walked in silence for a while, the sound of the waves filling the space between us. JJ’s hand was still holding mine, his grip steady and warm.
Finally, he stopped, turning to face me.
“Okay, what’s this about?” I asked, my heart pounding as he looked at me, his usual smirk replaced by something more serious.
He hesitated, running a hand through his hair. “Look, I’m not great at this kind of thing, so just… bear with me, alright?”
“JJ…” I started, but he cut me off.
“No, let me say this,” he said, his voice firm but nervous. “I like you, Y/n. I’ve liked you since we were kids. When John B and I were running around causing trouble, and I’d see you hanging out with Kie and Sarah. You’re the one thing in my life that’s always made sense, and I’m tired of pretending I don’t feel this way.”
I stared at him, his words washing over me like a wave.
Finally, I found my voice. “JJ, I like you too,” I said softly. “I think I always have.”
The relief on his face was instant, and before I could say anything else, he stepped closer, cupping my face in his hands as he kissed me. His lips were warm and soft, and the world seemed to stop as I kissed him back.
When we pulled apart, I grinned at him. “You know this breaks your no Kook rule, right?”
“Shut up,” he said, laughing as he pulled me into another kiss. “You’re a Pogue now.”
I pulled back just enough to smirk at him. “What about the no Pogue-on-Pogue macking rule?”
JJ groaned, rolling his eyes before kissing me again, harder this time, effectively shutting me up.
Cheers and whistles erupted from somewhere behind us, and we broke apart to see the rest of the Pogues watching from a distance, grinning like idiots.
JJ groaned, burying his face in my neck. “They’re the worst.”
I laughed, grabbing his hand. “Yeah, but we’ll get them back someday.”
He laughed, lacing his fingers through mine and as we walked back to the Chateau, I couldn’t stop the smile on my face. For the first time in a long time, everything felt right.

The Twinkie was a moving disaster zone, as usual, bumping and groaning over the backroads. John B was at the wheel, one arm slung out the window as the wind whipped through his hair. Kiara sat in the passenger seat, holding the map, while Pope and I were squished in the back seat. JJ lounged across the floor of the van, his legs stretched out, his knife flicking open and closed in one hand, and the other hand working on rolling a blunt.
“Alright, so let’s talk this through again,” Kiara said, pointing at the map. “The coordinates lead to somewhere here,” she gestured vaguely at the red mark on the paper, “which should put us right in line with the wreck. But we need to figure out what these notes mean.”
“I mean, it could be anything,” Pope said, squinting at the faint writing. “Big John was cryptic as hell.”
“Understatement,” John B muttered from the front.
I was half-listening, leaning back against the van’s side panel with my legs crossed. JJ’s voice cut through the low murmur of conversation.
“Hey, Princess,” he said, looking up at me with a grin that was both lazy and wicked. “C’mere.”
I raised an eyebrow but shifted closer. “What?”
He held up the blunt he was rolling, the paper balanced delicately between his fingers. “Lick it for me.”
I stared at him, incredulous. “Excuse me?”
“C’mon,” he said, smirking. “Don’t act all shy now. You’ve seen worse things in this van.”
Pope groaned. “Can you not?”
Ignoring him, I laughed at JJ’s false joke, knowing it was directed to make Pope uncomfortable, but leaned in anyway, reaching the blunt in his hands. His gaze lingered on me, his smirk softening into something more teasing as I licked the paper not breaking eye contact.
“There,” I said, trying not to let the heat in my cheeks show. “Happy now?”
“Ecstatic,” JJ said, his voice low. He took the blunt, sealing it with a quick twist, and lit it with a flick of his lighter. He took a slow drag, exhaling a plume of smoke that curled lazily in the small space.
He held it out to me.
I accepted it, taking a quick drag before handing it back to JJ. He winked at me as he took another hit.
“Alright,” John B said, breaking the silence as he squinted at the map. “So, according to this, the coordinates lead us… somewhere around here.”
“Great,” Kiara said, rolling her eyes. “Middle of the ocean. Super helpful.”
John B shot her a look. “It’s not exact, but it’s a starting point. We’ll figure it out.”
“Famous last words,” she muttered, leaning back in her seat.
JJ nudged me lightly with his elbow. “What do you think, Miss Cameron? You ready to join the ‘Shipwrecked and Stranded Club’ when this inevitably goes sideways?”
I smirked at him, crossing my arms. “Oh, I’m ready. Are you? Or are you going to start whining the second you get a little wet?”
“Touché,” he said, chuckling. “But if I drown, I’m haunting you specifically.”
“You’d haunt me anyway,” I shot back, laughing.
“Damn right,” he said, his grin widening.
“Can you two stop flirting for like five seconds? Please? Is that too much to ask?” Pope interjected, glaring at both of us.
I tried to supress, my laughter but locking eyes with JJ betrayed me.
𓆉°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・𓆉°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・𓆉°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*: 𓆉°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*
The Twinkie rattled to a halt near the edge of the salvage yard. The towering piles of rusted metal and abandoned cars loomed over us, casting long shadows in the late afternoon sun. We huddled together by the side of the van, quickly hashing out a plan.
“Alright,” John B began, keeping his voice low. “Kiara, Y/n, you’re on distraction duty. Keep the security guy busy. The rest of us will grab the drone.”
Kiara raised an eyebrow. “Why do we always get the boring jobs?”
“Because you’re the least suspicious,” JJ chimed in. “And because John B’s too scared to do it himself.”
“Shut up,” John B said, smacking JJ lightly on the arm.
Kiara and I exchanged a look before heading toward the small security booth near the entrance. The guard looked up as we approached, his suspicious eyes narrowing.
“Hey there!” Kiara said, putting on her most innocent smile. “Our boat’s tyres burst, can you help us please?”
As Kiara spun her tale about how the tyers deflated, I chimed in with details. Meanwhile, the boys disappeared into the maze of scrap metal behind us.
When they finally returned, the drone tucked securely under John B’s arm, JJ’s expression caught my attention. His eyes were glassy, his lips trembling as if he were fighting to hold back tears.
“JJ, what’s wrong?” I asked, rushing over to him.
He sniffled dramatically, his shoulders shaking. “It’s just…Your…”
My heart sank. “What? JJ, my what?”
JJ couldn’t hold it in anymore. He burst out laughing, doubling over as I glared at him.
“You’re the worst,” I said, giving him a shove, though I couldn’t help but laugh along with him.
𓆉°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・𓆉°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・𓆉°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*: 𓆉°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*
The Pogues were sprawled out across the Chateau, each of us busy with our own pre-party rituals. Kiara was rummaging through my pile of clothes, tossing items over her shoulder as she muttered about finding something decent to wear.
“Are you sure this isn’t a waste of time?” Pope asked, lounging on the couch. “It’s just going to be a bunch of Kooks, drunk off their parents’ liquor, pretending they run the island.”
“Exactly,” JJ said, leaning against the kitchen counter. “Which is why we’re going. It’s a good alibi and we get in with no trouble thanks to Y/n. Also free booze, bad decisions, and maybe a good laugh or two.”
I emerged from the bedroom, zipping up a sundress and JJ’s eyes immediately locked on me, his smirk growing.
“Damn, Princess,” he said, pushing off the counter and walking over to me. His hands found my waist, his fingers grazing the fabric. “Who are you trying to impress?”
I grinned up at him. “Maybe I’m trying to outshine you for once.”
“Good luck with that,” he teased, leaning in to kiss me lightly.
“Alright, lovebirds,” John B said, appearing in the doorway with an exasperated look. “We don’t have all night. Let’s move.”
“Hold on, hold on,” JJ said, turning back to the mirror to adjust his hat. I grabbed it off his head, putting it onto mine instead.
“Much better,” I said, spinning around and heading for the door.
JJ caught up to me, wrapping an arm around my shoulders. “You’re lucky you’re cute,” he said, tugging me closer.
The party was already in full swing by the time we arrived. The Kooks had outdone themselves, as usual, turning their sprawling estate into a sea of lights, music, and expensive liquor. JJ stuck close to my side, his hand resting lightly on my lower back as we navigated the crowd after a good hour of drinking and dancing.
I spotted Sarah near the drinks table and made my way over to her, JJ following closely.
“Hey,” I said, grabbing a cup of whatever questionable concoction was being served. “How’d you manage to sneak out this time?”
“Wheezie,” she replied simply, taking a sip from her own cup. “Blackmailed her.” She glanced at JJ, raising an eyebrow. “I see you brought the rebel boyfriend.”
“Nice to see you too, Sarah,” JJ said, grinning at the new title.
Before she could respond, Topper appeared, pulling Sarah away for something. I sighed, taking a sip of my drink.
“Wanna get out of here?” JJ asked, leaning down to whisper in my ear.
I nodded, letting him lead me up to the rooftop. The cool night air was a welcome relief, the noise from the party fading to a dull hum. We sat close together, sharing a blunt as the stars twinkled above us.
“What would you do with the gold?” I asked, resting my head on his shoulder.
JJ exhaled a cloud of smoke, his expression thoughtful. “Get out of here. Buy a boat, sail wherever I wanted. No more running, no more debt. Just… freedom.”
I smiled faintly. “That sounds nice.”
“What about you, Princess?” he asked, turning to look at me. “What’s your big dream?”
“I don’t know,” I admitted. “I guess the same thing. Travelling.”
JJ shifted, lying down so that his head rested in my lap. He looked up at me, his blue eyes soft. “We’ll go together” he said simply, closing his eyes, “Surf trip.”
My heart lurched at his words, “As long a you wax my board J.”
I reached down, running my fingers through his hair, a content smile spreading across his face.
𓆉°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・𓆉°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・𓆉°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*: 𓆉°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*
The smell of eggs and toast filled the air as I cooked breakfast for the group the next morning. JJ hovered beside me, stealing bites of toast whenever he thought I wasn’t looking.
“JJ, if you eat one more piece of toast, I’m gonna stab you with this spatula,” I warned, swatting at him playfully.
“You wouldn’t dare,” he said, his grin widening as he leaned in closer.
“Try me.”
He laughed, his hands settling on my hips as he leaned in to kiss me. I felt a rush of warmth as his lips brushed against mine, but before we could get carried away, Pope walked in.
“God, can you two not?” he groaned, shielding his eyes.
JJ and I broke apart, laughing. “Jealous, Pope?” JJ teased.
“Not in the slightest,” Pope shot back.
JJ grabbed his keys from the counter, pulling me in for one more kiss before heading out with Pope to do Heyward deliveries while Sarah and I went to the mainland to shop, John B avoided DCS and Kie was at work at the Wreck.

“This is The Last Drop?” you ask, surprised. You wonder if that’s why the pub is so cozy; if the Children are always on the lookout for new members, then it’s in their own self-interest to make their home turf an attractive place to visit.
“Sure is,” the bartender says with a proud grin. “All proceeds go towards helping the good Children of the Lanes.”
You raise your eyebrows, impressed by the mercenaries’ ingenuity. Good alcohol is always in demand in the Undercity, so the Children are sure to never run out of money. “That’s pretty smart.”
“You should buy a drink if you’re on our side,” he says cheerfully. His unserious manner tells you that he won’t mind if you don’t, though. “You sure I can’t get you anything?”
“I would if I could,” you say regretfully. “Do you have a tip jar?”
“A woman after my own heart,” he says warmly. He grabs a beer mug, thumping it down enthusiastically on the counter in front of you.
You finally locate your money bag and pull out a handful of golden coins, dropping them into the mug. The man’s eyes widen in delight as the money clinks and rattles against the glass.
“Cheers, sweetheart,” he says gratefully.
After stashing the mug away under the counter, he puts his fingers to his mouth and whistles sharply. The sudden and loud noise makes you jump. He waves at someone behind you, gesturing for them to come over.
“I’ll drink next time,” you promise the barman. “This place is really nice… my friend made it sound like a war room.”
“Oh? Who’s this friend of yours?” he asks. He glances away from you, waving more insistently.
“Silco.”
The bartender’s cheer turns to curiosity as he leans on the bar, squinting at you. Self-conscious, you stand a little straighter under his scrutiny, scooting over to make room for the tall woman who takes a seat next to you.
“You got my drink?” she asks you, bored.
“Oh, I’m so sorry, here—” you move one of the glasses closer to her.
She takes it with a nod of thanks.
“What do you want, Vander? I still have the meet today,” she says, annoyed.
“Think he’ll still want to do business with you after you smashed his friend’s face in?” Vander laughs.
Sevika rolls her eyes. “He deserved it.”
“Just as well. This lady here is going to be much better company,” the barman nods at you. “I’m Vander, and this lovely lady is Sevika.” He jerks a thumb at the woman. She ignores you, sipping from her drink.
You introduce yourself. Vander nudges Sevika with his elbow, which earns him a steely glare from the woman.
“Don’t be like that, Sev; she’s a friend of Silco’s. Any friend of his, is a friend of ours,” he says sincerely.
“It’s nice to meet you,” you say with a smile. “I’ve heard a lot about you both.” Silco had described his brother-in-arms as a big man with a big heart. As first impressions go, he certainly fits that description. As for Sevika, Silco praised her toughness and loyalty, a woman with a surprisingly kind heart hidden underneath a thorny exterior.
She seems more interested in nursing her drink than making small talk, so you hold your hand out to Vander. But his attention is caught by someone walking behind him; he turns over his shoulder to wink at them.
When he looks back at your extended hand, he takes it and turns it gently, lowering his head to kiss your knuckles. His calloused fingertips slide against your palm.
“Oh—” you stammer, startled.
Just as Vander’s lips are about to make contact with your skin, Silco appears behind him.
“Vander, we’re out of—” Silco says, annoyed.
He does a double-take at the sight of his friend kissing your hand. His mouth drops open, the pub lights reflecting off his chipped teeth.
“Silco! Hi!!” you squeak out, embarrassed. When you yank your hand back, your heart rockets into your throat, a full heated flush steaming your face hot enough to make you want to take off your jacket. The drink in front of you looks tempting for your suddenly parched mouth.
He says your name, incredulous. “What brings you here?”
“I—I was just in the neighborhood,” you lie. The excitement of meeting Silco’s friends almost made you forget about your stalker. Remembering them drives a spike of anxiety through your heart, and you fidget with your sleeves. But you’re not about to tell Silco about that, especially in front of his friends.
And it wasn’t a complete lie, either—you’re just taking a detour before you head home.
Silco narrows his eyes at you. You smile innocently at him, the very picture of honesty.
Vander grabs two more glasses and tops them up, shoving one into his friend’s hands.
“Here’s to our comrades, new and old,” the bartender toasts. He downs his drink in one gulp while Sevika takes another slow, appreciative sip.
Silco doesn’t drink, still staring at you with suspicion.
Flustered, you reflexively drink from your own glass, accidentally taking an extra-large mouthful. The spicy and earthy drink hits you hard, a punch to the face with a fiery, honey-sweet aftertaste. You cough so violently you fumble for a stool, taking a seat next to Sevika.
Silco rushes around the counter. He stands on your other side, rubbing your back in concern. Worried, he asks, “Are you alright?”
The alcohol burns in your mouth, an uncomfortable tingling tracking from the roof of your mouth down your throat. But you try to smile at Silco, coughing out, “It’s good to see you.”
Because it really is. His smile soothes you better than any glass of water could. He takes a seat next to you, his hand lingering on your back. You bump his shoulder playfully with your own.
“So how’d you meet our man here?” Vander asks, grinning as he refills your glass.
“Oh, um…” you glance at Silco. “Saved him from Enforcers.”
Sevika glances at you from the corner of her eye, curious. Vander lets out a bark of a laugh before he asks, “Pretty little thing like you? What’d you do, blow a kiss at them?”
Silco tenses at the compliment. His hand on your back moves up to your shoulder, squeezing you protectively. “Please don’t judge my companions too harshly. I assure you, under most circumstances, they are perfectly capable of behaving themselves.”
“I just dropped paint on them,” you answer with a shrug, ignoring Vander’s remark. This time, you take a little sip of the drink. In smaller quantities, it’s quite tasty. You let it linger on your tongue to better enjoy the fruity notes.
The larger man leans forward, brows furrowed. If you thought he was watching you too closely before, he stares openly at you now. You stare at the liquid in your glass, swirling it to avoid the bartender’s eyes. “You’re the muralist?”
“Uh…” You look at Silco questioningly. “I’m working on a mural right now, yeah.”
“Well, I’d like to thank you if Silco hasn’t already. He forgets his manners sometimes,” Vander says, giving his friend a playful punch in the shoulder. “Couldn’t have gotten our most recent score without your help.”
“I’ll have you know, I’ve thanked her plenty already,” Silco says impatiently, rolling his eyes.
“You might as well be one of us now,” Sevika says to you. For the first time that night, she smiles, a sharp smirk that transforms her face into something gleeful and young. She shares a knowing look with Vander before finally turning to look at you head-on, assessing you properly now. “Saving Silco’s ass is pretty much a rite of passage for the Children.”
“I believe our ledgers are equally balanced in that regard,” Silco scowls. His hand leaves your shoulder to pick up his drink.
Sevika snorts. “Sure you don’t want me taking over the accounting? ‘Cause I keep better track of our numbers than you do.”
“Now, now, kids,” Vander snickers. “No fighting in front of the new recruit.”
“…Wait, what?” you ask, confused. When you turn to look at Silco, he’s frowning but flushed red from embarrassment. He sighs and pinches between his eyebrows, looking down at the counter.
“I had hoped that my friends would know better than to surprise you,” Silco says in an annoyed tone. He looks up, still avoiding your gaze to glare daggers at Vander. “I merely asked them to consider extending a formal invitation to you. I hadn’t realized that the final decision had already been made without my input.”
The bartender pouts in apology, his watery eyes widening in an impression of a Poro. “And here I thought you asked her already.”
“If you got your eye on her, she must be good people,” Sevika pipes up. She raises her drink at you before finishing it off.
“Exactly,” Vander says to you. “Silco likes to leave most of the recruiting to me. You must be something special if you caught his eye.”
You clutch your glass tight. A confusing cocktail of emotions swirl in your chest, not helped by the alcohol: triumph at earning the approval of Silco’s friends, clashing with self-consciousness at being the center of attention.
“I was just in the right place at the right time, that’s all,” you hunch over the counter and mumble.
“I’m so sorry,” Silco says earnestly. He looks at you directly now, eyes wide with distress. “I should have discussed it with you first, I only meant—”
“Silco, it’s okay,” you reassure him. “Can we talk about this later?”
He nods, his knee bouncing rapidly, restless and nervous.
“It was nice meeting you all,” you say, giving Silco an affectionate pat on the arm as you step off the stool. “Have a good night—”
Silco looks crestfallen as his friends break out into a chorus of protests.
“Are you really going home after just one drink?” Vander asks, turning his sickeningly sweet puppy eyes at you.
“Let’s play for it,” Sevika says, whipping a pack of cards out with a flick of her wrist. She shuffles them expertly, dealing the cards swiftly on the counter. “If you win, you get to go home. If I win, you stay and I’ll tell you how Silco fucked up his teeth.”
“That’s—that’s not necessary,” Silco sputters. “Don’t you have a meeting today?”
“He’ll come back if he knows what’s good for him,” Sevika says dismissively. She looks at you expectantly.
You drink again to buy yourself time to think. You have fun hanging out with Silco, his friends seem welcoming enough, the alcohol is tasty… all very persuasive reasons for you to stay.
“Sure,” you tell Sevika cheerfully. “What are we playing?”
Her explanation of the rules is short and straightforward, but you find yourself distracted when Silco scoots his chair closer to yours. When you ask Sevika to please repeat herself, your friend says he’ll help you.
He hooks his chin over your shoulder when you pick up your hand of cards. He’s warm and solid next to you, his breath grazing your cheek. The contact has your heart racing, your heartbeat so loud it almost drowns out his whispered instructions in your ear.
Maybe it’s because of the alcohol, but you find yourself leaning into his constant touches instead of away from them. Indulging in the fantasy that he’s not just being chummy, but that he wants to escalate your friendship into something… more.
You quickly down your drink in one gulp, slamming the glass down too hard on the counter. When Vander asks if you want another, you shake your head vigorously, making yourself dizzy. You tell the bartender that you just need some water. Silco tells you to slow down when you chug the whole thing as fast as you can without choking.
But you want to drown that thought before you can pursue it. Wishing only leads to disappointment, after all. Building an icon for a small faith only for it to be struck by lightning. Leaving behind nothing but ashes in its wake, all your hopes going up in flames and trailing away with the smoke.
Besides, you’re trying to make a good impression on Vander and Sevika. Trying to laugh at their jokes and answer their questions.
Trying to ignore Silco’s long and handsome fingers as he touches your cards.
Trying to focus on the game instead of the tapestry of lines and scars on his skin.
You ask Vander what his favorite drink is, and he points out different bottles on his shelf.
But your eyes are instead drawn to the column of Silco’s throat as he swallows. His tongue tracing the outline of his thin lips after downing shot after shot of vodka.
How he always smirks first before teasing his friends, mischievous and playful. Then he’ll smile bright and joyfully as he chuckles, a low and soft sound compared to Vander’s booming laughter. The trio use pointed words with each other, but they never cut deep enough to hurt.
You’ve stopped drinking for the night since you have to wake up early tomorrow. But you’re still enjoying yourself, bonding with Sevika and Vander over stories of Silco’s youthful antics. Already flushed from drinking so much, Silco turns even redder when Sevika tells you of the misadventure of his broken teeth.
From any other storyteller, it would have been a heroic retelling of his courage and defiance in the face of an indomitable goliath. And yes, teenage Silco was very brave in an encounter with multiple Enforcers. But Vander breaks into uproarious laughter when he talks about his friend dodging their punches expertly only to trip and fall open-mouthed on an Enforcer’s boot.
“I can’t believe you still managed to fight them off,” you tell Silco in awe. “I’m glad you’re still here.”
“Did y’know… I have the fewest arrests compared to these two,” Silco slurs drunkenly. He swings his glass at them in a wild, unsteady arc, his drink spilling out of his cup. Sevika scowls when the alcohol splashes onto her poncho.
“Still the worst of us at holding his liquor, though,” Vander says, chuckling. He throws a towel at his friend’s face. Silco’s head thumps onto the counter as the towel falls into his lap. “Take care of that spill, will you?”
The bartender walks away to help another customer. Sevika shoves herself out of her seat, shoulder-checking Silco as she stalks off to the restroom.
You reach out for the towel, gingerly picking it up before you wipe the counter dry. Silco watches with sleepy, half-lidded eyes as you fold the towel neatly.
“How are you feeling?” you ask him, amused. It’s almost fascinating to observe Silco’s total loss of composure; for someone who lives in a bar, his tolerance for alcohol is lower than you expected. Maybe it’s because he’s skinnier than his friends.
“M’good,” he mumbles into the counter.
“Here.” You slide your glass of water closer to him.
You pat his back, encouraging him to sit up so he can drink. He raises his head slowly, swaying dangerously as he sits up again. When he makes a grab for the glass, he almost knocks it over. You catch it just in time. Some of the water spills out onto your hand.
You take it upon yourself to hold the glass up to Silco’s lips. When he opens his mouth, you tilt the cup carefully, careful not to pour too much too fast. He drinks with small gulps, little by little until your glass is emptied. You can’t help but imagine him as a houseplant, and the image makes you giggle.
“What’sss’funny?” Silco asks as he lowers his head onto the counter again.
“Nothing,” you say quickly. You lay your head down on the bar, folding your arms to use as a cushion. Even when looking at him sideways, his handsomeness is undeniable, his long nose pressed into the counter and his dark hair draped over his sharp cheekbones.
You wonder if he’d let you push his hair out of his eyes.
Silco mumbles something under his breath that you don’t quite catch. Just as you scooch closer to listen, his eyes droop shut. He slumps completely limp, mouth falling slack.
You poke him in the face to wake him up. When he doesn’t respond, you stroke his cheek with the back of your hand, knuckles gently grazing his skin. He’s soft and warm to the touch as you trace the contour of his cheekbone. He babbles something incoherent, his lip twitching upward in the ghost of a smile.
You jerk upright in your seat, glancing around frantically. Sevika hasn’t come back and Vander is still busy with other customers. You’re glad that neither of them were around to see your moment of weakness, but that means they can’t help you with Silco either.
“Silco…” you lean in to murmur into his ear. He responds with a questioning hum. “You live here, right? Where’s your bedroom?”
Something about asking that question makes you blush, and you’re glad his eyes are still closed as he waves towards the far side of the pub, his fingers hanging limp.
You squint past customers and furniture to see a doorway encircled by a curved steel beam. It’s not very far away, but the real challenge is getting Silco to his feet.
“Silco…” you say again patiently. “Please get up.”
“Mmm… why…” he mutters.
“You need sleep, Silco,” you say gently.
“Mm’sleeping righ-now…”
“You can’t sleep here, dummy,” you chuckle.
“Why not…?”
“It’s bad for your neck and back.” You also can’t deny that you’re curious about Silco’s sleeping quarters, but you keep that thought to yourself.
“I’ll go if y’come wi me…” Silco cracks his eye open, a drop of turquoise peeking out at you from under his dark eyelashes.
“Sure,” you say, amused.
Your friend grins. He sways upwards with a wobble and pushes the stool away from the bar. You catch him under his armpit just as he slips off the stool, his weight forcing your knees to bend. He’s heavy like a waterlogged backpack, the strain on your back only slightly lessened when you throw one of his arms around your shoulders. The pair of you almost careen into another bargoer, and you apologize to them through gritted teeth as you steer Silco towards the doorway.
The light from the pub leaks through just enough to illuminate a short flight of wooden steps that lead into a hallway. With some prodding, Silco perks up just enough to slide off your shoulders and onto the wall. He oozes down the stairs one at a time before catching himself on a doorknob on the left. When he pulls the door open and stumbles into a room, you follow him.
It takes a moment for your eyes to adjust, and in the dark you almost miss another flight of stairs. Startled, you yelp as your foot falls through the air and you catch yourself on a handrail.
“Sorry,” Silco’s voice floats to you. You hear a switch clicking, then a muffled flop of him landing on something soft. A lamp turns on, weakly illuminating the room with a warm yellow glow.
It’s a small, cozy kitchen with a long couch and a small armchair, both orange with squishy cushions and colorful square patches of blue, purple, and red. An old wooden door repurposed into a coffee table sits between the couch and armchair. The lamp on the table is small and electric, illuminating Silco’s face as he lays on the couch. A large and brightly polished gramophone sits on top of a red barrel in the far corner. Framed and unframed photos on the walls give the place a homey feel. The shelves above the stove are stocked with clean glass jars, cutlery, and mismatched plateware.
Silco lies on the couch, sleepy eyes blinking at you as he smacks his lips. He turns on his side as he watches you walk over to the sink.
“You good here?” you ask. You grab a jar and fill it with water.
He hums in the affirmative, smiling at you appreciatively when you place the jar on the table close to him.
“You should stay,” he says through a yawn. “’S too late f’you to walk home.”
“Are you sure?” you ask. Normally, you would decline and insist on walking home if it weren’t for your stalker. A shiver crawls up your spine at the prospect of leaving the safe haven of The Last Drop. You imagine them descending on you as you try to dodge them in the Lanes. The cold fear kept at bay by your friends and the alcohol creeps into your veins again, rooting you to the ground.
“Yeah… I’ll take care of you…” he trails off, his eyes falling shut.
You yawn quietly, conscientious of Silco falling asleep again. His hand uncurls next to his face, his body fully relaxing like an unknotted rope. The sound of his deep breathing fills the room, low and peaceful.
Slowly, slowly, you tiptoe over to his feet and unlace his boots. It takes some awkward maneuvering of his legs to finally get them off; you hope he won’t remember you manhandling him in the morning. You place them gently next to the foot of the couch before unlacing your own. Your own boots look so much smaller when you place them right next to his. Then you take off your jacket and drape it over Silco, pulling the collar over his shoulder. Only then do you finally take a seat in the armchair.
“Goodnight, Silco,” you whisper softly, your own eyes drooping shut as you switch off the lamp.
He doesn’t respond. You pull your knees up to your chest and rub your arms for warmth as you drift off, joining him in slumber.

A guide to being the local fashion icon 🐆
Tumblr media
1. THRIFT THRIFT THRIFT!
I am someone who lives for unique clothing. My biggest tip ever for anyone who wants to stand out and be more fashionable is to start thrifting. Not only is it beyond fun this is a place where you can get pieces no one else has for CHEAP. nothing feels better than finding ur dream clothing piece at a thrift store. And you can get high quality clothing for way cheaper than a new poor quality item you get online. I’ve thrifted since forever so I might post thrifting tips soon.
2. Do a closet cleanout
It is so important to get rid of clothes you won’t wear anymore. I struggle with this and found myself keeping clothes as “backup” so much that I ended up with filled to the brim drawers full of clothes I find extremely ugly or that I just didn’t ever wear anymore. And this caused me to forget the nice clothes I have and only wear the same outfits all the time because I couldn’t find my other clothes. So GET RID OF CLOTHES!
3. Find your staples
My staples include black boots, leather jackets, denim jackets, and a few good pairs of jeans. Now this can be completely different for you. You need to figure out what the items are most needed for the outfits that go with your style.
4. Avoid shopping on SHEIN
Hear me out. I used to be a shein addict and I know how addictive it can be to buy cute clothes for cheap. But I just don’t find it worth it at all anymore. And I don’t even own any of the hundreds of clothes I bought on Shein anymore because the ones I wore often got ugly crazy fast. I hate to be the one to say it but you can almost always tell when a clothing piece is from shein. Now you do you, but if we’re talking about being that it girl, the one who always looks so cool and stylish and somehow nobody does it like her, buying quality clothing is key. Trust me you can find a better option at the thrift for almost anything youre buying from shein. Shein also mostly sells clothes that will go out style in a few months.
5. don’t put yourself in a box
Create your style without trapping yourself in an aesthetic. The beauty of fashion is you can always try new things and be creative and express yourself through it. Don’t be afraid to try new things. Wear something a little different every now and then if you feel like it. You don’t need to dress a specific way all the time.
6. Find inspiration
One thing I like to do is to write down the people whose style I like so that I can get inspiration from them and see what I can take away from their fashion choices. Another thing I do is making a Pinterest board for every season every year that way I can look at it when I want ideas.
7. Shop with a goal in mind
A lot of the times we end up buying things we barely wear because we bought it just for the sake of buying something. I like to keep a list of things I really want t and look for those specific things when I’m shopping to avoid buying things I don’t actually want.
8. Add a bit of color to your outfits
Look, I am someone who literally only ever wears neutral colors. But the times I choose to add a bit of color to my outfits it upgrades them so much. I mostly do this with red because it’s pretty much the only bold color I don’t despise. But a bolder color can really make ur outfits stand out so much more. This works best if it’s only 1 specific part of ur look.
9. Accessorize
I know we hear this all the time but accessories really brings an outfit together. You can have the most basic outfit, but if you add some jewelry, a bag, and a pair of sunglasses it suddenly looks not basic at all. Or maybe you add a cute belt. Accessorizing is key to spicing up your outfits.
10. Find a makeup that fits you
Recently I’ve been loving a 90’s makeup look. I think finding a makeup style that suits you changes everything. I don’t feel complete if I’m not wearing some lip combo. So try out different makeup styles and see what you like best.
11. Have one interesting factor in ur outfit
Having one thing that stands out from the rest of ur outfit makes it so much more unique. This can be anything from a pattern, to a texture, to a color etc. having only ONE is important because it makes your outfit interesting but keeps it from looking messy.
Hope this helps u become a fashion diva 🫶🏼🙂‍↔️

So I did some more Transformers drawings, and I figured page was full enough
I mean, it isn’t really, I could have fit more in the corner if I wanted, but I can’t think of anything else to draw there, so might as well post it now
So I suppose, let’s talk through all this
First off we have an Optimus I never finished, because I couldn’t get that bending shoulder to look right. It just looks off, and I can’t finish it until it looks right. So I never did
I think he’s supposed to be sad and yearning after the breakup with Megatron, and talking about it with someone
Anyways, then we move on to the Dinobot section, which I made because I started Beast Wars and like Dinobot, and had been attempting to draw him at work the previous day
I think I draw him too skinny, which is why I made that middle one, to be more accurate. But I also kind of like drawing him skinnier? I know it isn’t accurate, but I like making him so. Like he’s got muscles, but has a lean body type. I don’t know
Then today, I wanted to draw a happy, smiling D-16, who’s doing so at something Orion did for him (this isn’t supposed to be a recreation of the race scene)
I was going to do it more like the Dinobot style, but then I ended up going back to 3D boxes anyways
Honestly I think it’s one of the ones I’m most proud of, look at him and his sweet little face
Tumblr media
Still can’t get the sticker right though
But anyways, on to the last thing, the Bee and Elita
Honestly I think the two of them need some ships in this universe too. Megatron and Optimus got their whole situation, but what about them? Elita doesn’t really have any options presented right now outside of maybe Arcee and I guess Airachnid (but personally I’m not here for the toxic yuri right now), and I don’t really know about Bee
The sequels should give them new characters to have subplots and shipping with. It can’t all be Megatron and Optimus hogging the spotlight (even if I do like them)
As for the drawings of the two themselves, I mean it’s alright. I think Elita came out better though. But it’s also my first time drawing them, and it takes some practice for me to get them right
I’m realizing as I type this that I have a sketchbook, and I got good at drawing Dinobot after drawing him on sauce paper a few times. So like, I could just do that to try and practice the characters without needing to be at work, and having a handy place to keep those references. Hm, well that’s a solution for later
It also does not help that I don’t have good references for them, especially in their cogged forms. These are about the best I got, and they aren’t the best quality either, I do not know how to draw their heads (well mostly Bee’s)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also don’t think I’m drawing the Transformers One cast right. Like their bodies and general proportions I mean
Like, I noticed from this random screenshot I saw today that D-16’s noticeably wider than Orion
Tumblr media
And I also know that the quartet have their own distinct face shapes from one another
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I just don’t know how to convey those things in my drawing of them, it doesn’t want to work
Also I don’t think I have the basic structure of how their bodies work down either. I noticed today that almost all of them have more cylindrical shoulders than the rectangles I sketch, and also they have those middle circle joints
This is an observation I’ve had before, but the Transformers One designs to me really feel like action figures/toys with the way they’re built and designed. I don’t really know how to explain what I mean, but it’s how I see these designs in particular, which I can’t say with Animated or I think Beast Wars either. If this makes sense
But yeah, that’s the drawings. I don’t really know how to end this

WAIT ACTUALLY you don't have to do this prompt unless you want to, but in all in cameron is like "your shark story is good but not that good," he has told her the goddamn shark story, he is gonna win her over with his personality--
bless chase’s cotton socks:
The shark story always works.
It does not work on Cameron.
*
He tells it to her in a moment of weakness: they have ditched Foreman to go out for post-case solve drinks, just the two of them, and for once it’s Cameron’s idea to sneak off instead of Chase’s. Logically, he knows that dating Cameron is a bad idea—and he would bet money that she isn’t at all in favour of casual sex. There is no reason to tell her the shark story, especially not while she’s giggly off three vodka sodas and sharing a bag of peanuts with him, but it trips out of his mouth anyway while he’s staring at the strand of hair that has come loose from her tight ponytail. It feels like a metaphor: Cameron, so contained and controlled, loosening up around him. It’s an ego boost. It could be a bit more than an ego boost, if Chase ever bothered to examine it more deeply, but something in him balks whenever he gets too close.
Cameron’s verging on tipsy, but Chase is closer to sober—he’s got a better tolerance, and drinks slower; being the son of an alcoholic teaches restraint to the lucky few. He knows he tells it perfectly. He knows he hits all the right notes. And Cameron smiles along, laughs in all the right places, but it feels…just a touch indulgent. She does not lean closer during the part where he punches the shark square in the nose. She does not bat her lashes when he talks about how cold the water was. It isn’t a bad reaction, but it is—underwhelming. Platonic. Friendly.
Worth a shot, Chase thinks miserably, and then wonders why he was trying to get a shot in with Cameron in the first place. He doesn’t like her that way. They only go out for drinks together because Foreman drives him up the wall and it feels wrong to just drink by himself. That’s why it didn’t work, he decides. There was no real intent behind it. He puts Cameron in a cab home, retries the shark story on a girl at the next bar he gets to, and goes home with her an hour later.
*
“I have a question,” Chase says, three and a bit years later; they’re meant to be going out to a bar later to catch up with Foreman, but from the way Cameron keeps yawning and resting her head pointedly on his shoulder it feels like she’s gunning for a night in. “But you can’t laugh at me.”
“You ruin all my fun,” Cameron complains, shifting her weight closer against him on the couch. “I heard laughter is the best medicine.”
“Allison,” he says pointedly, and she laughs.
“Alright, okay,” she says, “I promise. But only if you call Foreman to cancel.”
Chase, already prepared to do as much, gives her his hand to shake; instead of relinquishing it afterwards, Cameron laces their fingers together and leans back to look at him expectantly. “I’m listening,” she says, and Chase winces.
“Do you remember,” he starts carefully, “when I told you my shark story?”
Cameron opens her mouth, closes it, and blinks innocently up at him. “Of course I do,” she says. She is not smiling, but she has the wide-eyed look that suggests she’s going to explode into a fit of laughter as soon as Chase is out of earshot. “What about it?”
This is the worst part. Chase has to grit his teeth to get the words out. “Why didn’t it…work?”
This time, Cameron’s blink is borne more out of confusion than laughter. “Was it…supposed to?” she asks, echoing his hesitant tone. Chase’s embarrassed silence isn’t a yes, but it sure as hell isn’t a no. Her eyebrows fly up, and she says, mock-chastising, “Robert.”
“I’m just wondering,” he insists, fighting to ignore his burning ears. He is suddenly grateful to his longer hair for covering them. “Pretty much every other woman I told that story to ended up making a move on me afterwards. How come you didn’t?”
Cameron shrugs. She’s smiling now, but not mockingly—it’s fond and soft, a warmer version of the quick grin she shoots him whenever they pass each other in the corridor at work. “Like I told you at the gala two years ago,” she says, “it’s good. But not that good. I think it only works if the recipient already wants to sleep with you. Which I didn’t, back then.” Blunt, but true; Chase accepts the explanation for what it is, and nods.
“But it’s been a while since I heard that story anyway,” Cameron adds. Her smile has turned wicked. “Why don’t you try telling me it again and see where it gets you?”
*

The fact that when I read this "But everyone will learn why the Other Arthur always walked alone, stare empty. Everyone will learn how Merlin has killed everyone he loved except for himself, and everyone will know how the Other Arthur has done the same to the Other Merlin." The song I was listening (it's great it's very Arthur coded AND IT FITS THIS AU TOO 🤌✨ https://youtu.be/twI3qZ6_8PQ?t=182&si=9AN09qUcLoSdzGka ) just went to the last lyrics "Oh gods that dwell beyond the stars, if you can hear my cry ; And if you have compassion, let me send no more to die" is fate omg
To come back on the subject : I LOVE HOW YOU WROTE THIS SO MMMMUUUUUCCCCCHHHBBHH (honorable mention to this because I was GAGGED OMG : I preferred you with longer hair.”
Arthur smiles, hand on the pommel of his word. Merlin shrugs, an equally menacing but darker sword materialising on his side, and right in his hand.
“It was better to hold onto when I came inside you.”
Also « We meet again merlin » <- arthur, babe, I know you wanted to ride that man until sunrise came)
>#i also have this irrational fear that someone will steal my fics ideas💀so like i always blog them under your blogs#talk about being dramatic#because i feel safer lmao
>I’m sorry if it will be quite long or under your blog, but you just caught my attention because yes!!! We
I'm very happy my blog can be a safe space! And I always LOVE when people expand on what I write!!
#but also like why i haven’t got all the time in the world to write all of these
I currently have 32 page of idea of wip in my doc (and I’m not exaggerating that’s really 32 pages 💀) and Goddness know how many are actually on my tumblr so I get it 😔😔 BUT WE REALLY NEED TO EXPAND AND CLEAN THAT ONE UP BECAUSE IT'S SO FIRE !!!!!!!!DKBSSBJSBSBSBSBSBSB
#YOUR IDEAS SOMETIMES MATCH MY IDEAS IN A WAY THAT SCARES ME
GREAT MIND THINK ALIKE or as they say were I live "Great spirits met once again"!
#but also like i always imagined this in a parallel world because i want merlin and arthur to actually see for themselves what other#possibilities there could be to their love#if there is a world where they can love each other without consequences
Tbh it could be very interesting if the reason why merthur 1's world was eating magic out of that world in particular is because merthur 2 has magic yes but it doesn't have a stable merthur relationship 👀 like merthur 1 world feed of magic of merthur 2 but merthur 2 feed of the kinder love of merthur 1 👀 and the only way they can both get stable is if not only merthur one go back and legalise magic but also if merthur 2 are put in a room and have a ‘hungry cat in heat fight’ for a week that turn into slow love making as days goes by 🤌✨ like who knew you could make war stop if you make them fuck MORE and not look at your king as you wonder when he will start to fuck less with his mortal enemy please sire it's the 8 time this month we cannot effort another tower cra— *sigh*
(also imagine from an external pov lmao like for the random people of Camelot this kingdom is already a shared custody between the king and his enemy-with-benefits who conquer it for 6 months then the king conquers the enemy-with-benefits’ kingdom then then enemy-with-benefits conquers back his own kingdom as the king conquers once more their kingdom and then—)
I just find it so interesting that canonically merthur can not hate each other. They seem also they never be able to fully live if the other is far away.
Just, this is the perfect set up fot extremely dark and toxic romance.
Like imagine : Merlin and Arthur being from enemy kingdom who are at war. They both killed countless of loved one of the other mentor, friend, lover, family,... But they can't stay away. It's like a drug Arthur needs to see Merlin, Merlin needs to see Arthur. They go out in the middle of the night, they fight, they kick, but they can never give the fatal blow. They hold each other so tightly you could never know where one begins and where the other end. They scream 'I hate you, I hate you, I hate you so much' and yet, between kisses they whisper 'I hate you, I hate you, I love you, goddess, I love you so much"
When Merlin's kingdom manage to take Uther's castle, they make love on the bloody floor. They run their bloody finger in each other hair, pulling on them so hard you could wonder how they manage to never break their kiss. Merlin takes, takes and takes. Spreading blood on Arthur's flanks, pushing him on the cold floor. Arthur fights, fights and fights. Pushing back, searching for a sword but when he find one he barely put it on Merlin’s neck before throwing it away and taking merlin in a crushing embrace.
When Arthur will take back his Castle, when Merlin will lose his and take it back again. When they will have made each other king by turning rivers red. Maybe they will find a different love or maybe they won't. It doesn't matter, as for now, their kisses have only one taste, blood and war.

No thoughts… only edizzy la cage aux folles au
#their relationship in the movie version is just like edizzy fr to me#the codependency… the volitility at times but beneath that just them knowing eachother better than anyone else and still being in love#and it fits so well in my head too because most aus are about them owning a club anyway lmao#plot twist stede is the straight dad and like in the movie version he lowkey crushes on ed (who would be albert / albin) except its#(well… more like ‘straight’ dad)#actually for real and ed revealing he’s not a woman is his gay awakening lmfao#only thing I’m stuck on is the way that the plot requires the other parents to be homophobic but obviously stede & mary wouldn’t be#me talking#our flag means death#edizzy#izzy hands#ed teach#izzy ofmd#blackhands#it would be interesting to have izzy in the role of albin/albert too but I think he fits george/armand way more#also the jewish last name thing from the movie would be cool to incorporate since that’s a semi common hc already#ALSO !! IT HAS THE SAME THEMES / JOURNEY WITH THE MAIN CHARACTERS IMO#like ik obviously shamelessly being yourself is just a thing in almost every piece of queer media but yeah. it fits their issues well too#it would be interesting to explore izzy pushing ed to fit a certain role in this context and both of their issues with not being vulnerable-#/themselves fully and not feeling worthy of love#lmao rip to their kid tho. hope he can gain some good coping skills from stede and mary’s kid… ah wait they aren’t great at coping either#also izzy owning a gay/drag club is so val of him so I love it for that

i try not to be too obnoxious about liking kids media but i will be honest my one thing that really gets on my nerves is when people compare shows like idk the owl house or whatever to shows like bluey or like talk about them as if they are similar. like yes i logically realize they are probably exaggerating in order to frame all cartoons as especially childish but it still makes me want to tear my hair out like do you know how wildly different the target demographics for these shows are!!! do you realize that preschool television is generally a whole different world from tv for older kids!!!!
