As much as I also would have liked more polin scenes I still feel like what we got was enough !?
I understand people wanted to see them happy but we have many more ( hopefully 5) seasons of happy married polin to watch and look forward too? I’m glad they gave us the angsty hard hitting scenes they did because we aren’t gonna get anymore! I’m a sucker for angst and I’m very with the amount we got. Plus it’s not like their arguments and Colin’s disappointment was for something stupid. It was a needed part of their story to understand each-other better and to really start their joined life’s. People are acting like the the main couple of each season don’t have their issues and then by the next season their purely in love.
To me polins disagreement was the most serious and sensible of all the couples this far. Of course Colin is going to be hurt and betrayed that the woman he loves is LW, of course Pen is going to be angry at Colin for not supporting her. But we saw them fix it, we saw them get through it together, and now they have the rest of their life’s to be happy and in love
Of course I’m disappointed they got rid of some scenes but I hate how people are acting like this is the worst season purely because we had some angsty episodes. We got plenty of lovely moments between them before and after the LW reveal.
I’m glad they gave Colin and pen the time and the development to work through it and explore their characters more. It would have made no sense if they just brushed past it. This is the same man who was weeping in bed because Pen was gonna marry another man. He’s dramatic, he needed time to figure out how he felt! It doesn’t mean he doesn’t love Pen if anything it shows how devoted he is to her. He got there in the end and his realisation made him and stronger and better man

Stacy's Tipsy Musing's - Colin Bridgerton Hot Takes - Part 2
Ok boys and girls, we need to have a little chat about Colin Bridgerton.
Tumblr media
Part 2 has been out now for a couple of days and there have been a lot of hot takes to come out of the season. A LOT of hot takes. I’m going to break this down into 4 parts. 4 questions that I'm seeing really bad hot takes about Colin.
Now none of this is new, I gotta say before Season 3 aired Colin was a hot button topic anyway. He seemed to be the Bridgerton brother that lots of people love to spew hate takes on anyway. But damn I gotta say its painful seeing the Polin fandom have so many bad takes falling from their lips.
So, I figured...having a little drink tonight, sitting down for Father’s Day (Happy Father’s Day, Colin) I’d give you the opinion on some of these takes that you didn’t ask for...Mine!
Last time we talked about Colin’s entrapment statement to Pen and if he truly meant it.  Question 1, now lets get to Question 2:
Why would Colin send Pen home alone after finding her on the street at night?
Ok we are going to have to resolve a few things here. One, our desire to watch Pen/Colin have hot angry sex right there on the street, and two Colin Bridgerton respecting Penelope too much to do so. So, let’s start at the top. Colin finds Pen walking home on a dark street after a long night of drinking the night before they are to be married. And not just a little drinking, a LOT of drinking. He was going pretty hard at the bar with his brother, the boys could not keep up with him, and Kate called him out for smelling like a bottle of liquor.
Now he sees the reason for all his drinking, walking down a dark road STILL putting herself in danger in the middle of the night. His mind is racing about what the hell she is doing out there, he immediately just assumes it is connected to Whistledown. The woman he despises, hates, and is highly jealous of.
Now they fight. Because of course they do. Pen does a good job of holding her own against his anger here. She tries to explain herself, that she was trying to protect El, that she wanted to protect him, that she made mistakes, she should have done things differently. That Colin has given her confidence to stand up for herself without Whistledown, and you can see his resolve give. The moment he thinks she will walk away from it, he appears like that will end it all, it will stop the fight in it’s tracks.
But then she tells him there is still value to her keeping it. And that is where you see the real reason for him holding onto his anger. The jealousy. The fact that he feels she was laughing at him, by being a writer herself she must have not been truthful to him about his own writing. About his talent. And then the anger bubbles back up, and he hits her about his concern for her safety. And then it surges forward, his need to protect her. And that is where she strikes at him, she does not need his protection.
And here we are at the crux of Colin Bridgerton’s pain. His hero complex without a damsel to save. “Then what good am I to you?” She silences him with the one thing she can. Love. Pen loves Colin. It’s all she needs from him. And he is lost momentarily in her need for him to love her. His purpose. And they lose themselves in each other without thought in passion. Colin forgets his anger, his jealousy, his shame and he takes her up against the wall in public, on the street. And it’s not until that cursed horse ruins our voyeuristic excitement that Colin suddenly remembers that he has Pen up against a wall in public.
And this is not our Colin Bridgerton that loves Penelope. Not the Colin who just admonished her for not respecting him enough to talk directly to him. He is not the Colin Bridgerton who would take her out of anger. He would not take her while feeling this shame and hurt toward her. Simply having her tied to him does not mean he can just take what he wants. So instead, he treats her with respect, he walks her to the carriage, and he puts her safely inside.
He then makes sure she understands that she will see him in the morning at the wedding, he intends to be there to marry her, regardless of what is going on between them. And then he sends her home. Because anything else would not be Colin. He’s drunk, he’s angry, and the alternatives would not end without adding more shame to himself.
Tumblr media
Stick around for part 3....
Why would Colin sleep on the couch and ruin their wedding night and then continue to sleep on the couch after they are married?

🖼️Lil Benedict Bridgerton Headcanons Pt 2🖼️
Woohoo part 2 baby!! Part 1 is right here! Some of these are modern!AU some of these are Regency era. As I said before I am truly a ✨slut✨ for this man. Hope y’all enjoy 😊
All r fluff and crack. Bonus Polin Headcanon ❤️
🎨= modern!AU
🎻= Renaissance era
🎨🎻= either
Also mentioned : Colin, Anthony, Kathony, Queer!Eloise, Gregory, and Polin
Ps, my ask and request r open :)
Tumblr media
🎨 He went on a gap year before college to travel the world. He went kinda everywhere but he’s not one of those people that’s pretentious and has to talk about it all the time (no shade Colin, he’s more of an excited puppy about where he’s been anyway)
🎨 During cov!d he really honed in on his skills as an artist but also got really into skincare and hair care. Now he does a whole curly hair care routine because even though I can see him keeping his hair on the shorter side, he still likes it to have a little body.
🎨🎻 He would never admit it to Anthony (at least sober) but he wants the love that Kate and Anthony have for each other. He is such a hopeless romantic and I think he wants nothing more in this world than to find someone he feels he truly can’t live without.
🎻 Now we all know Benedict goes to balls more out of family obligation than actually wanting to, but I truly feel like once he’s married, he wants you to throw balls every season. He loves being able to show you off and what better setting them a ball with you as the person of honor. I also feel like he would enjoy throwing balls/parties for his more artistic, not part of the ton friends.
🎨 Now let’s say this is a modern AU where Eloise is a lesbian and our dear Ben is bisexual. I feel like when Eloise came out to him and said “I’m gay” he said, with no hesitation “you too?” I feel like the next day this man would just barge into her place with a gift bag full of Girl in Red, Chappell Roan, and Raneé Rapp albums, a pride flag, and a Carabiner. She would give him the “these are all stereotypes” lecture, but truly she appreciates it.
🎨🎻 I feel like he is very weak willed when it comes to his nieces and nephews. Like he is the favorite uncle, yes it took him bribing the kiddos, and yes he has no shame about it. He would stay firm with them (respecting the majority of set rules) but he will let them get away with small things. It will take him having his own kiddos to understand where everyone is coming from. (trust & believe that the siblings take their revenge)
🎨 He’s weak for a sundress. Weather it’s a cute little flower print, or a simple solid color, he just loves a little flowy sundress. I can’t explain it. It’s just this man’s weakness. (Btw this is what I mean when I say sundress, because apparently the Internet is having a debate about this right now lol)
🎻 Y’all remember when people were painting on each other’s bodies during Covid? Yeah he would do that. I feel like he would very much use u as a canvas during yall’s honeymoon. I feel like it would also end in a little ✨spicy time✨
🎨 While I can really see this man not giving a fck about whether he is fit or not I feel like as he starts to get a little bit older (late 30s early 40s) he would sign up for the gym. I feel like this will be a combination of him wanting to, but also Anthony, Colin, and Gregory would tease him about getting a “dad bod”. He knows though that you love it so he wouldn’t try to get too fit, just enough to be a little toned.
🎨🎻BONUS🎻🎨
He has such a fondness for Pen. This man is in her corner, if her and Colin get into a fight he automatically is taking her side. If he sees Cressida doing some shady sh!t he’s calling her out right then and there. I also feel once Colin and Pen announce their engagement, he would go to her and say “I’m sorry it took him so long to realize what we all knew” AHHH I JUST KNOW HE SHIPS POLIN!!!

We have our season 4 cast list!!!
A few notable things!!
Araminta Gun, Rosamund Li and Posy Li! Sorry Sophie works for the Cowpers theorists (as slay as that would’ve been). The actresses are all absolutely gorgeous! I’m excited to see the dynamic they go for, especially when they’ve said that Rosamund has her sights on Benedict (hopefully he doesn’t entertain it in the slightest, just as he does in the book!).
Speaking of the Cowpers, no Jessica Madsen? I was really expecting to see Cressida back when Jess Brownell said that her story wasn’t finished, but I guess not :((. Maybe they’re holding out on bringing her back for another season? Maybe Eloise’s? (We all know El will end up with Phillip, but Creloise truthers, this may be your time).
WHERE IS SIMONE ASHLEY??? She’s said she’ll be back but her name isn’t there!! Maybe this isn’t all of the cast but this did come from Netflix Tudum so I’m not gonna lie… I’m panicking here. I need Kate and Sophie to be best friends!!!
Portia and Varley are back! I was absolutely petrified we would never see them again now that Polin’s story is over. No Harriet or Bessie though, which means we likely won’t see Philippa and Prudence, which we all kind of knew was coming, but doesn’t hurt any less 🥲 (holding out for a cameo though).
I guess a sorry is in order for those who were hoping for a Daphne & Simon reappearance… I remember seeing somewhere that Phoebe and Rege were supposed to come back but if this list is right we might not be so lucky…
Polin are back! I hope they have a wonderful season with domestic moments and lots of married fun.
More Violet and Marcus on the horizon? Obviously Ruth Gemmell is returning and so is Daniel Francis! Could this be the season we see Violet’s garden in full bloom? Book fans will know that it’s at the masquerade ball (in Violet’s story in the ninth book) that she finds her first (and only) potential suitor since Edmund’s death…
John Stirling lovers it might be an idea to start praying… Victor Alli and Masali Baduza are both returning, which means we will see John, Michaela, Francesca and Eloise back from Scotland in Mayfair! Basically everyone already knows that John dies in the books. If they’re setting up Francesca and Michaela for either season five or six (although I’m holding out for Philoise for season 5😭) it seems likely that we will see John’s death this season.
I’m not 1000% sure how conclusive this cast list is (see Simone Ashley not listed!!!) so don’t take any of this as gospel, but still- looks like it’s going to be an amazing season 🥹

it is decided bridgerton season 3 will heal my depression
can we talk about the trailer for one second, like yes it took forever to be out but it’s here finally and gosh am i hooked
first of all the trailer opening with colin in carriage??? like netflix and shonda rhimes know their shit, they know damn well what they are doing
and then penelope OMGGG IS SHE GORGEOUS, the ton is so blind to not have acknowledged her beauty before cause my girl have been sparkling since the day she was born
then kanthony being happily married 🥹 i feel like i’ve watched my children growing up and starting their own family
eloise and cressida???? why??? don’t get me wrong i love eloise but she’s acting so petty and i hate it
and then polin saying they are friends bahaha like we believe it, they don’t even believe it themselves
the candle scene where colin seems to be deep in thoughts (of penelope i am sure) and the candle slowly lighting brighter 🫠
lord debling seems so sweet too, he gives me mr darcy vibes and i truly hope he’ll find the one for him
the scene with colin and his mother talking about friendship being the foundation for love and then it cutting straight to colin and penelope being their adorable self and laughing, i’m gonna die of excitement!!!
i also cannot wait to see the relationship between lady danbury and penelope cause i love them both so much
colin waking up from what seems to be a steamy dream (the mirror scene perhaps 🫣)
francesca looks so sad all the time i just wanna hug her :(
and violet finding love again?? hook me up
anyways all that to say that i cannot wait, i am literally counting the days (1 months and 5 days hehe), but i have my finals first so i have to study and then i’ll have the greatest reward of all

The Lady Whistledown Papers : 1x03 - Art of the Swoon
Tumblr media
Welcome back, Gentle Readers, to The Lady Whistledown Papers, where I’m taking an in-depth look at Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton’s character arcs and romance within the show Bridgerton!
For previous issues, follow tag : The Lady Whistledown Papers
So... are you guys excited for this one? Because there's so much I can't even contain myself. No, I'm kidding. This episode might win for most boring Polin episode, and yes, I'm including 2x01, which doesn't even have Colin in it.
Letters
Tumblr media
We open with Pen looking very anxiously out a window. What is she looking at? Is it Colin? Are the Bridgertons being bold in broad daylight again?? No, she's just waiting for the mail.
She is super cute when she finds there aren't any letters for Marina and she throws her little hands up in the air exasperated.
Tumblr media
Marina is growing depressed waiting to hear from her love, George. But Penelope is full of hope and optimism. She is so into what's going on with Marina. The romantic in her is thrilled with all this letter writing (hmmm, wonder if that'll come back) and she's encouraging Marina not to give up hope.
She is so smiley and engaged while talking to Marina. This is a real, live love story happening in front of her, that she gets to engage with, and she gets to help out with. It's fun for her, being on the outside of it, like reading one of her stories.
And, I mean, the fact that Colin is one of Marina's suitors just isn't even a factor yet. Pen genuinely cares for Marina, and cares for wanting this love story to play out into a happily ever after.
The romanticism really becomes apparent when she suggests that maybe the reason George isn't writing is that he's on his way back to her that very moment. It's sweet, and a little naive, but Pen really just wants Marina to be happy and in love. Just like Pen wants it for herself. But Pen saves only her cynicism for herself.
Portia barges in right then and scolds her for spending time with Marina. The way Nicola Coughlan stomps her foot and throws a tantrum like a child is really quite brilliant. It adds to the fact that Season 1 Penelope is very much still a child in a lot of ways.
Drawing Room
Tumblr media
Colin is looking for food -- take a shot!
Tumblr media
Okay, so this shot is really kind of cool when you look at it. And I mean, indulge me, there's barely any Colin in this episode...
I love the blocking of it, as you can see so much characterization of the family just from this single shot. Daphne is sitting tall and really center, as she is the main character. Violet is in her 'mother' chair doing sewing. Anthony is off to the side, reading the paper, drinking tea, being very much a father-ish figure. Benedict, seated low, carefree and more irresponsible than his somewhat more serious-minded brother. Eloise is there, reading indignantly. Hyacinth and Gregory are on the floor playing, much like Pen was in the first episode, signifying their youth and childishness.
And then there's Colin. Just... kind of there. Because it's a family scene. A blank slate ready to be written on. He's watching his younger siblings, but not really there with them anymore. But he's not yet fully in the adult world of Anthony, Benedict, or Daphne.
But it's interesting (and important?) that he's sitting next to Violet here. Because while Colin doesn't say a thing here, Violet's words Daphne are incredibly important. She tells Daphne that it's integral that she should marry her dearest friend. And that love is simple when you're in love with your dearest friend. And Colin is sitting right there! The message is one that I'm sure Violet hammers into her children all the time, though Colin is definitely going to be one to internalize it pretty deeply.
The Prince
Tumblr media
[Just an aside, the scene where Daphne snorts at the prince and where Daphne and Anthony have no idea how to heat up milk are really two nice moments in this episode.]
Just Portia Featherington whoring out her daughters to the Prince, and little Penelope falling behind and getting pushed out because who would take her seriously as a contender? But there's Lady Whistledown gossip narrating this moment, and while it's mostly expositional, it's also telling that while Pen can't be front and center, she's still very there and aware.
Somerset House
Tumblr media
Just in case you were wondering - Colin is in this scene! Being amused that Violet is trying to get Anthony to find a wife.
I love that he and Benedict have a good laugh over it (I have a mind to think that Colin and Benedict are always having a laugh about Anthony) -- until Violet literally pushes them out into society as well.
Tumblr media
Hey, they cut from Colin over to Penelope. Cute.
So, I'm always happy when we get a scene where Eloise and Penelope seem to be on the same page. And this small moment of them looking at the art, critiquing it in a modern way, is super fun. They do both share the viewpoint that women should be more than the objects men think of them as. And they laugh about it here, but it's really quite profound.
Pen's attention strays, though, when Marina calls out for her help.
Tumblr media
Portia is trying to set Marina up with some old bachelor, and Penelope swoops in to interrupt. See, and that's the thing. Penelope does have a big heart. She loves love and she wants Marina to be happy with George, and not stuck marrying some old guy where love wouldn't bloom. So she intervenes. And of course, Portia tries to push back against her. Penelope doesn't have much power (as herself) but just the act of cutting in is enough to disrupt the encounter.
Portia calls Penelope a 'meddlesome little wench'. Which is really quite horrible of a mother to call her daughter. But I will say there's truth the the meddlesome part. She does like to be meddlesome, and even the LW persona speaks to that.
Tumblr media
Some time later, Cressida is going to fake a swoon so the Prince can catch her. And look who has a front row seat to that. I love that Eloise is like - wtf, while Penelope is openly laughing at her. Should note that this won't be the only time Cressida pulls this kind of stunt.
Letters II
Tumblr media
Twenty minutes of screen time later, and Penelope's still waiting by the window, staving off suitors as she waits for her husband to come back from going to war and being lost at sea...
No. Sorry. That's the plot of The Odyssey. We will be coming back to that, though...
Penelope's still waiting for letters to bring up to Marina, but her enthusiasm waning.
Tumblr media
She's so excited when she sees the letter from George!
Which makes me wonder - does she always intercept the mail? I love that the servants mostly do not care. Also, no one knows she's writing to Colin between seasons, so she must be diligent about mail time.
Tumblr media
She is so ready to hear what George has written to Marina. It makes me wonder - has Marina let Pen read all her letters? Or has Marina only shared what was in them? And did Pen help Marina write him back? It's clear that Pen's living a little vicariously through Marina in this moment. And it's just as devastating to her when they find out that George (seemingly) has rejected Marina.
Tumblr media
This is really a key moment in that it sets up Marina's trajectory for the rest of the season. Her heartbreak and her fear (enhanced because earlier in the episode - Portia threatened Marina with living like a beggar on the streets) are what lead her to do what she feels is best and safest for her future.
But Penelope is just confused. This is not how romance stories work. He isn't supposed to reject her. He's supposed to come rescue her and her child and they all live happily ever after. It's like she can't quite comprehend what is going on.
Of course, we learn next that this is a fake letter brought on by Portia (and Varley) ever the villain.
The Diamond
Tumblr media
Back in the main plot, Daphne is bringing her a-game hotness as a way to get back at Simon for being a jerk. And... once again, Penelope has a front row seat to it. It's interesting how she manages to get into frame a bunch of times, to show that she is aware and paying attention to what's going on.
It is kind of funny that the LW narration kicks into gear, having lots of critiques over Daphne and Simon's love story -- when Penelope, never even speaks of it as herself. I'll have to keep notice as to whether or not Penelope ever brings up Daphne or Simon as herself.
Tumblr media
This moment I find a little interesting though. Everyone's attention is on Daphne and the Prince, but Penelope is watching Simon. It's another love story that Pen doesn't quite understand. They seemed so together just a short while ago, and not a sudden shift in events. And Pen is once again perplexed by love and all its confounding complexities.
Alright, on to more interesting things -- the next episode actually has a Polin scene in it. A thing rarer in this season than actual diamonds. (Maybe, idk. I'm not really counting.) ;)

I’m not mad that it was a Kate and Anthony clip. I’m not mad at Penelope’s two seconds. I’m not even mad that Colin isn’t in it at all. (Although my heart aches for another polin clip)
I realize the show is not like the books where we get all Colin and all Penelope all the time. I love Kate and Anthony too and am so excited to see them as a married couple. I am mad that Kate didn’t have a single line. The kiss was sweet though.
I wanted polin. At least a crumb. But they gave us this. Which was cute. Just… I wanted more. I wanted to be teased. I thought they finally were gonna do that.
I am mad that this was supposed to be a trailer. We’re two months away people.
Netflix 👏 get 👏 it 👏together👏

I genuinely don’t get the issue with the story being bigger than polin.
Penelope and Colin didn’t just meet. They didn’t need to fall in love. They needed to find one another and they needed to move through all of the Lady Whistledown stuff. They needed to be honest and laid bare in front of someone who really knows them.
I loved the kathony stories.
I love that they developed better Featherington familial relationships. I love all the husbands so much.
I love that Francesca got a love with John and we were able to see that when in the books it was completely off the page until her book.
I love that Penelope is truly loved by Colin. And that he is as well and knows he is enough.
I’m excited to see married polin in the future.
I love Benedict’s storyline.
I love that Anthony is a guy who loves giving head. And I love that Colin is a finger her with intense eye contact guy.
I love Penelope’s breasts and they were magnificent.
I love that Violet is getting another chance at love.
I love the Queen Charlotte and Lady Whistledown mutual respect. That Penelope has grown to see it as a powerful part of her.
I love the Violet and Agatha friendship.
I love that the show is about all of the Bridgertons. Not just the ones falling in love.
I also loved all of the sex scenes and I normally would be happy with a fade-to-black.

Bridgerton season 3, what to say. I loved it but I was also disappointed at the same time. Spoilers if you haven’t already watched it all
Disappointment #1 I understand what Kanthony fans meant about last season now. There were just too many subplots going on. There’s always the main plot and at least two to three subplots but at least two of those subplots tie into the main one and the other one doesn’t . We got that with Cressida’s story and the Featherington family heir. They tied into Colin and Penelopes story. Why Penelope was desperate to get married and why Cressida was so desperate to get the Whistledown reward. And the ones that didn’t were Francesca’s and Benedict’s but Francesca’s still made sense because her story starts after she’s been married to her first husband for a minute, she gets married her first season and then after a couple years we see her again so her storyline this season made sense so even though it didn’t tie into the main plot it still fit with the season as a whole especially if you’ve read the books. I hate to say it because I love him so much, but Benedict’s storyline was so unnecessary this season. I enjoyed him getting to explore himself and his sexuality but to me that’s something that could’ve been done in his season.
Disappointment #2 we didn’t get Colin’s speech “ I love you with everything I am, everything I’ve been, and everything I hope to be.” I just loved that moment so much in the books and I’m so sad we didn’t get to hear him say it.
Disappointment #3 I think we all knew as soon as we got the Featherington subplot that this is what was going to happen especially when we didn’t get the Penelope/Lady Danbury friendship which is the whole reason they named their firstborn after her but I’m still mad they took Agatha from us. They already took Amelia away with Simon n Daphne so they better still give us Agatha eventually when Colin n Penelope have a girl.
Disappointment #4 the entire season did feel really rushed but that’s because it kind of was cause they only give us 8 episodes and there were 600 other stories going on at the same time, thankfully we already had two seasons of Polin buildup to work with.
Like #1 Polin of course. I loved everything about them.
Like #2 The Featherington family subplot.I actually enjoyed Prudence and Philippa a lot this season. They were just so cute. I loved them being so excited about their ball. Also Mr. Finch and Dankworth are just the cutest. They are totally “my wife” bros like Colin. Portia was going through it this whole season lol. I loved her realizing and opening her eyes to how she’d treated and overlooked Penelope for years and them kind of realizing they had more in common than they thought. And just seeing that a lot of what Portia did was to protect her girls cause her husband kind of put her between a rock n a hard place.
Like #3 I still hate Cressida but I liked her storyline and the friendship with Eloise because one someone needed to put Eloise in her place a bit, and two it showed that even one of the most popular debutantes still had her reasons to be just as desperate to find a husband. I think it helped open Eloise’s eyes a bit more to really listening to people and not disregarding what they were saying simply because she didn’t want the same things and didn’t understand why they didn’t feel the same way she did. It showed that even the girl who is everything a debutante is supposed to be was having just as much trouble as someone like Penelope who was considered the opposite of what a young lady should be in society. It showed that she could be a genuine and nice person but she lets her own desperations and wants overcloud that and that she was willing to turn on someone she considered a friend to get what she wanted. Whereas when Penelope wrote about Eloise it wasn’t to help herself , it might’ve still been wrong but she had genuine good intentions.
Like #4 I loved how Eloise and Penelope’s friendship came full circle. I think they really needed the time apart because Penelope needed to see she was letting whistledown go to her head and not really thinking about who she was hurting at that point and I think Eloise needed to really see that she needed to start listening more and understand that just because someone’s opinions or wants were different than hers doesn’t mean they weren’t still important. And how even though she was so angry and hurt that she still wanted to protect Penelope when she was hurt. She also saw how easy it was to hurt someone herself without meaning to.
Like #5 I loved Penelope standing up for herself. I loved her owning up to her mistakes. Her saying I made some mistakes and could’ve handled certain situations differently and I’m sorry for them I truly am but I’m still proud of what I’ve done and achieved as a whole. And more importantly her not letting Colin bail her out of trouble. Her saying you know what no more lying. No more running and hiding, it’s time to take responsibility and own up to what I’ve done all I need you to do is love me and stand by me.
This last one isn’t necessarily a disappointment or a like. But them turning Michael into Michaela. I knew people were speculating and I’m not sure if it had been confirmed before the season dropped and I just didn’t see it but I was surprised by it. At this point in time I don’t hate it but I’m also not sure how I feel about it. I haven’t read Francesca’s book yet so it won’t really change any of that for me. It’s more of I don’t have any specific feelings about it at the moment and a wait and see how they do the storyline in that particular season for me kind of thing. I could absolutely love it.
Also I think it was made pretty obvious by Eloise bringing up the masquerade that Benedict’s season is probably next and I’m excited for him and Sophie but I’m also a little worried and curious about how they are going to tie his behavior in the book into the show cause oof Benny boy you was troublesome
At the end of the day I enjoyed the season as a whole, it was good.

BRIDGERTON SEASON 3 PT 2 SPOILERS
Live reaction episode 5:
I’m a little disappointed that we didn’t get to see Penelope’s answer to colin’s proposal but in my head she just straight up faceplanted outta that carriage. On another note, colin constantly looking back at her to check on her is peak protective husband. Colin ‘my wife’ bridgerton indeed. Also Penelope’s so loved by his family and not him being willing to fight Eloise, his own sister, like hold your horses buddy. El baby she’s loved him since you guys were children. Both are honestly valid and i love them both so much, i just need my peneloise besties back right now. Like so expeditiously. Awww, colin checking up on pen. He’s truly already so far gone. I’M SORRY THE TREE???? What the actual fuck???? Lady tilley arnold needs to get the fuck off my screen. I’ve never read the books but booktok and twitter made me love sophie already, i need her. Not pen listening to her family reading LW Lmaoo she seems so smug about it. EY LADY DANBURY HAPPY ABOUT POLIN THEY’RE SO LOVED BY EVERYONE. KANTHONY MY BABIES. MY PARENTS ARE GONNA BE ACTUAL PARENTS STFU. Anthony’s so feral for her 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 aww hyacinth is so excited to tell them about polin’s new engagement my daughter fr. HYACINTH OMG IJBOL NOT HER SAYING GREGORY’S THE FAMILY PET I’MMA DIE. Eloise baby she did not use you, she loves you and you love her so make up bitches. Cressida is so gay for eloise no one can tell me otherwise. OH MY GOD NOT THE BOOK LINE ABOUT HIS LOVE BEING A THUNDERBOLT FROM THE SKY SOMEONE SEDATE ME (might need to make a part two and i’m only 10 minutes in) they’re not even married yet and Benedicts like “your wives” she’s always been a bridgerton for real. PORTIA I AM INDIFFERENT TOWARDS YOU BUT BACK OFF FROM MY GIRLY AND DON’T MAKE HER DOUBT HER RELATIONSHIP. COLINS SO HOT TELLING PORTIA OFF SOMEONE GET ME SOME HOLY WATER OR SOMETHING JESUS FUCKING CHRIST. HE’S BEEN WITH HER FOR LESS THAN 24 HOURS AND HE’S ALREADY THROWING AROUND THE L-WORD OH HE FELL SO HARD FOR HER IMMA THROW MYSELF IN FRONT OF A MOVING TRUCK. MIRROR SCENE OH MY GOD OH MY GOD ALRIGHT ITS HAPPENING ITS HAPPENING OH HIS SPEECH IMMA KILL MYSELF IM SO SERIOUS. THIS IS PERFECT OH MY GOD, NICOLA COUGHLAN IS A GODESS AND THEIR CHEMISTRY IS SO PALPABLE. “LIE DOWN” THAT WAS SO FUCKING HOT, COLIN BRIDGERTON CAN COMMAND ME AROUND ANY DAY. Sex scene, sex scene, sex scene….TO POV???? Oh, that’s such a beautiful song choice. This is literally so intimate, i feel like I’m intruding. Colin bridgerton is a canon consent man and as a woman i think that’s so sexy. That was the cutest sex scene of my life, cute, hot, awkward, everything a first time is supposed to be (i wouldn’t know🙊) KANTHONY SCENE. HES THE CUTEST ALL KISSING HER STOMACH. Newton and Anthony always beefing. Their so cute 😫😫😫. Awww John and Francesca are so cute as well. Awwww him asking about marriage 😖😖😖. VISCOUNTESS KATE IN ACTION MY BABY GIRL. She’s working overtime being pregnant, viscountess and giving eloise advice. She clocked peneloise’s tea. AWW Post-sex polin is the cutest with the book line too 🥹🥹🥹🥹 and the teasing!!! They’re truly so friends to lovers. NOT HER GETTING INTERRUPTED WHEN SHE WANTS TO TELL HIM SHE’S WHISTLEDOWN. FUCK ASS SERVANTS. Oh poor pen having to listen to her fiancé trash-talk her without knowing he’s taking about her, like i wouldn’t tell him i’m Whistledown either after this, bet. Also they literally have no sense of personal space and it’s too cute. Aww a colin and eloise talk. THEY WERE INSEPARABLE AND THEY NEED TO BE AGAIN SOON OR IMMA DO SOMETHING SO DRASTIC I SWEAR TO GOD. Peneloise as bestie sister-in-law’s is something that i need so bad it’s like not even funny anymore. Penelope’s sister need to leave her the fuck alone and portia needs to leave her ulterior motives at the door even penelope was like what the hell is going on. I don’t really mind will and alice plot honestly they’re just a cute married couple, much like polin will be. OH MY GOD NOT BENEDICT CALLING KATE SISTER IM DYING IM DECEASED. THAT FUCK ASS TOP HAH OH MY LORD. NOT COLIN CALLING PENELOPE HIS BRIDE TO BE 🫠

I’m sort of reeling from S3 ending, but have been seeking comfort in all the opinions here including yours.
I was experiencing whiplash with all the disappointed posts on one hand and happy ones on the other (I just had to take a look and spoil myself). I think having watched it all now, I’ve also settled on being 85-90% happy with the way things went - which is ok. Could have done without the sideplots, and more Polin and Colin’s book love confession…. In saying that, I think there will be so much to look back on with fondness when the hype and excitement dies down. Things like how amazing Polin have been in general, Nic and Luke’s press tour, and the exciting speculations and wait we all endured between P1 and 2.
I also think some of us became a victim of believing the spoilers a little too much, specifically some Polin ones and got into it with expectations that were too high. I really enjoyed Bridgerton this season (more so than any others), but the show was never going to be a Pulitzer Prize winner in writing - so on the other hand I wasn’t surprised. It was such a fun ride though and I’m happy Polin got there in the end!
i think there's room to both be happy and be disappointed in what you wanted to happen that didn't but i am also a generally positive person so i rarely focus on the negative, it's just not who i am so i'm just happy to be here for the most part, ha.
i felt like we cut to ben's plot of him in bed an awful lot with no real movement to it. that's honestly my biggest uhhhh okay at the moment. i think colin faded a bit to the background at times but i also appreciated seeing a vulnerable part of how he let himself feel his emotions. you can love and desire someone while being angry with them and i like that they let us see that from a man's perspective.
oh for sure, i think a lot of people assumed all the spoilers were true when nothing is confirmed until it's on screen. it can and will mess with your expectations if you focus on what headcanon or spoiler you want to happen vs watching it as it comes.
we got married, happy polin and honestly i'm pretty happy about that in general.

Hey!
First, I just want to say that I am right there with you!! I watched season 3 with an equally obsessed Bridgerton friend (she’s a big Kanthony fan and I was honestly a general audience fan until like Tudum of July 2023, after which I became a huge Polin fan… they’d always been my fav in the show because I tend to gravitate toward that “side” couple if you will but I just hadn’t entered FULL Bridgerton obsession mode yet 💀). Anyways, we watched it together when it came out, did not check the onlines. And when I tell you we both cried multiple times throughout the season, I mean that we CRIED. There were soo many beautiful moments and while ofc it wasn’t perfect, it spoke to both of us in a way the other seasons didn’t. (My friend remains a Kanthony fan, happy for her bc they’re a lovely couple that I too enjoyed, but she turned to me at the end and just said “They (Polin) are so good together.”After we both had finished crying over the “How lucky I am to stand by your side and soak up even a little bit of your light” line.) idk. It just made us both feel seen in different ways and for different reasons, and we found so many lines/scenes about love and family beyond beautiful. So ofc we were both blindsided when we finally opened up the socials and hell was breaking loose lol. But to be completely honest with you, I think a lot of the hate is coming from the Francesca storyline (homophobia is a disease and some people need to touch grass 🤷‍♀️), the group think mindset that chronically online individuals tend to get into, and the fact that they wanted a little more Polin at the end (which, don’t we all? But as you said, this is Shonda. And I watched the other two seasons, no main couple got more than those 5 min of bliss at the very end which we gotta good amount of sweet scenes during their engagement period lol.) I’m at peace with it because I know they’re back next season and will likely get to be a fluff-fest, similar to Kanthony this time around. I thought it was more interesting for them to explore the JOURNEY to happiness.
All this to say, do what you need to do until the timeline calms down and people finally touch grass. But know there are some of us who also liked s3 ❤️
I think touching grass was VITAL to my enjoyment of season 3! I do feel for people who did not enjoy it, but I'm in fandom spaces to have fun, and I need to protect my own mental health so I just had to check out of a lot of the critical discourse. People are allowed to feel however they want, it's just for me that I am choosing to ignore a lot of it and focus on what I loved and what we *did* get from S3 😊
I'm glad to see that 10 days out from the part 2 premiere, more people seem to be doing the same! And I am SO EXCITED for married and happy Polin in season 4! If we get anything like what Kanthony got, I will be thrilled

Bridgerton books: rank & review
Tumblr media
I recently read all of the bridgerton books. Why? I...don't really know. Morbid curiosity, perhaps? Here's how it went anyways!
General thoughts
Whether a book was supposed to be really bad or really good, I think what I felt mostly while reading all of them was just...underwhelmed. It's rare that a subpar book is made into an excellent show instead of the other way around, but here we are. Anyways, one of my main critiques is that Julia Quinn just has kind of a bland writing style. She writes these conversations that just go on forever and run in circles without actually getting anywhere. I finished all of the books pretty quickly, and the endings felt almost abrupt; it was hard to believe the book was over because it often felt like so little had happened. But what bothered me the most about these books was definitely the male love interests. Besides the rage and possessiveness, they basically felt like the exact same guy written eight times over, with some slight changes. After reading a few I was desperate for something different - a guy who's awkward, or sexually inexperienced, unpopular with women, plus-sized, freaking short. Anything 😫
Now for the rankings!
#8: The Duke & I (Daphne & Simon)
Tumblr media
I give this one a 4/10. It was more or less exactly what I expected, but I did manage to read through it, so points for that I guess. Their whole relationship just felt kind of icky and unhealthy. And Daphne in particular was very bland as a character. At least in the show, they had some sizzling chemistry. The best part of this book was the 2nd epilogue - Polin cameo!
#7: To Sir Philip, With Love (Eloise & Philip)
Tumblr media
6/10. Philip was a bit of a dick and I'm salty that Penelope is neither in this book nor any of the others after it (I read this one last) even though Colin is, although that's not super relevant to the quality of the book. I would say that I liked this one about the same as #6, which is to say there were parts about it I liked but even then it was kind of just okay. I really didn't like the way Philip was always demeaning Eloise, especially when he said she wasn't allowed to have complaints about their marriage because his first wife killed herself!! Anyways I’m super curious to see where the show goes with Eloise, considering everything that’s different about her and Philip from the book.
#6: An Offer From a Gentleman (Benedict & Sophie)
Tumblr media
6/10. I liked this one more than I thought I would based on what people said, although Benedict was definitely still an asshat. But at least he apologized for...some of it? I did like Sophie a lot as a character, and was very invested in her story, so that's where most of the rating comes from. Excited for season 4!
#5: Romancing Mister Bridgerton (Penelope & Colin)
Tumblr media
6/10. Penelope was pretty great in this book, and so was Lady Danbury, but Colin felt almost unrecognizable from the show and from what he's like in the other books as well. It's almost like Julia Quinn thinks that in order for a male character to be a love interest he has to be violent and forceful and other unpleasant things. No thank you! The scenes in the church and at the engagement ball were especially icky, and the sex scene was just kind of...weird. Altogether, I was pretty disappointed considering show!polin owns my heart 🥲
#4: It's In His Kiss (Hyacinth & Gareth)
Tumblr media
6.5/10. I thought I would like this one a lot based on what people said about it, but Hyacinth and Gareth just didn't really draw me in, individually or as a couple, and the mystery plot didn't feel very interesting to me. I did love the way Hyacinth and Lady Danbury interacted, though, that was super fun.
#3: The Viscount Who Loved Me (Kate & Anthony)
Tumblr media
7/10. This one was great, just not quite my favorite. Enemies to lovers dynamic was a lot of fun, although it felt kind of ridiculous and improbable that they were forced to get married just because of the bee sting thing. Otherwise, I had a good time!
#2: When He Was Wicked (Francesca & Michael/a)
Tumblr media
7/10. The sex scenes were great and focused more on female pleasure and empowerment than the others, so kudos for that. Michael was also a much more decent person than many of the other male love interests. The only thing that really bothered me was the lack of Bridgerton family scenes and dynamics, since most of the book takes place in Scotland. I'm curious and excited to see where the show goes with the gender swap when they do Francesca's season.
#1: On The Way To The Wedding (Gregory & Lucy)
Tumblr media
8.7/10. I wasn't prepared for how much I liked this book! I adored Lucy, and her whole thing about needing things to be straightened out and even and liking to count is something I can relate to. The plot felt plausible, and yay for a bit of gay rep in Lord Haselby! I kind of wish Lucy had been less of a helpless damsel in distress near the end, but oh well. Gregory was enjoyable as a character and together they made a great couple. I loved the 2nd epilogue as well. This may sound strange given it’s the last in the series, but if you're going to read a Bridgerton book, I'd say read this one!
If anyone's still here, thanks for reading this insanely long post 😘😘

Did you see the new scene that got released for Bridgerton yesterday?? Married Kanthony look so happy and in love!! And Pen is so pretty! I do wish we’d have gotten a glimpse at Colin too but it was still amazing! I’m so excited for the new season!!
YESSS I ate up every second!
I was hoping for a teaser because wow I genuinely can’t believe we don’t have one yet, but since I love kanthony I can’t bitch. THE SMOOTH KISS THE SOFT SMILES? And I’m happy it wasn’t another full Polin scene because I don’t want too much more spoiled, actual scene wise.

I’m really happy that Polin is season 3. While book Penelope settled into and found some contentment in her spinsterhood it is not what she would have preferred. She wanted to marry Colin, so I am excited for Penelope and that in the show it is looking like she won’t have to become a spinster, it just took a few seasons for Colin to see that his best friend is also the love of his life. Contrast this with Eloise who is okay with becoming a spinster and even asks Kate what it is like. It makes sense for Eloise to actually get closer to spinsterhood, but end up finding her love in a later season.

What do you think about the season 3 Polin news? To be honest, I don’t mind who the lead couple is but I’d really like to see Kathony early in their married life - having Edmund (and Anthony freaking out and being overprotective), Kate getting used to her role as Viscountess - so I’m hoping they don’t do a time jump for Polin. I guess with Eloise knowing who Lady W is, it seems to make more sense to not have a time jump and resolve it more immediately. Especially given there were a couple of hints in season 2 that Colin thinks Eloise is Lady W.
Simone was the first one to say that s3 was a Polin's season, so we can assume she's one of those actors who knows stuff and can't lie in interviews lol I'm saying this because that means that even all the other stuff she said about Kathony in s3, her being excited about her new role as a Viscountess, and her saying that s3 will take place a year later (meaning probably the society's season after the one in s2), meant it wasn't speculation from her part, she told us because she knew. Even if we don't still know how much screentime Kate and Anthony are going to have of course, it's enough for me to actually be excited about s3 (because i'm a Kathony's blog, the first couple in years who made me such a shipper, so of course they are my main concern lol).
So yeah, I don't think there is going to be any time jump, and it made sense being Polin for a number of reasons that you have already expressed, but also because doing another season of pining between Colin and Penelope would have been too much IMHO. Also for all the Benophie's fans out there: I believe Benedict will have his time to shine, don't worry. Actually if they follow the storyline of the books, there is two years time jump between Benedict meeting Sophie at the masquerade's ball and their actual love story, so it's still possible Benedict is going to meet Sophie in s3 at a masquerade's ball (maybe the first ball hosted by the new Viscountess?). We'll see. Like i've said however my main concern is Kate/Anthony, and i'm just excited to see them being happily married, in love, and adjusting to their new life together.
