Hi, I know you’re a fan of namjoon so I wanted to ask your thoughts on this ring thing? I’m kinda new and assumed all these namjoon is married with kids stuff were a joke. But some people seem to totally believe that. I mean where he’d get the time to see a partner and kids is beyond me but who knows? Anyways I was looking at some of their recent pics and he doesn’t wear it all the time - which if it was a couples ring - wouldn’t he? I thought maybe he would only wear it if they were appearing on Run or Korean shows, but he didn’t have it on for either of the new shows they’ve been on recently, as they may not have been as widely watched. I mean I guess it’s none of our business - but I’m trying to rip of my delulu hat for making me think Seokjin gave it to him 🙈

Hi anon, I hope you don’t mind that I’ll combine my answer for you with my answer to another ask since I feel like they fall into the same kind of category, as in people taking things too far and/or blowing things out of proportion. And, coincidentally, both have something to do with rings.

I’ll start with your question though and give you another example that followed a very similar trajectory as the omg namjoon is married with kids because ring narrative/theory. Some months ago, Namjoon posted a few pictures on twitter and among them was a picture of him with another guy wearing a green sweater. His face though was covered. At first ARMY didn’t think much of it, but then, eventually, someone started a joke that “remember that sweater Joon wore for BV4? The guy is wearing the same one, what if that's his boyfriend?” and it went viral.

It started out completely harmless with hundreds of positive and funny tweets made in good humor, no one taking it that seriously knowing that we’d never find out even if it were true. But, as the jokes started to simmer down, everyone had their laugh, the next wave came in and this one decided that this isn’t a joke at all but serious matter. Quickly this harmless fun turned into a witch hunt of “ARMY” trying to figure out who the guy might be, if he is Namjoon’s mysterious friend that once sent him a coffee truck with custom drawn designs on it, perhaps the same one with whom Namjoon already once posted a picture sitting on this garden porch swing type thing, some even trying to prove that the guy is either Seokjin (in which case, what would be the need to cover his face?) or Florist Isaac whom they met during that one RUN episode.

So, very quickly a few idiots turned harmless fun into something almost malicious and got into fights with ARMY who were trying to tell them to stop.

The ring thing followed a similar story. It was once a harmless joke based on the fact that Namjoon wants to have kids one day, so some made jokes about what if he’s already married but we just didn’t know etc. But very quickly that got out of hand as well, going as far as people claiming the little girl in his pictures which he posted around his birthday or something is his daughter (even though it was said it’s probably the child actress from BTS WORLD) and that him making jokes (during a BangtanB while trying on glasses before their MOTS7 press con) about his child being able to read/write hangul at a very young age wasn’t jokes at all but solid proof of the fact that he is married with a child (despite the fact that he would’ve had to have gotten married and his wife pregnant not long after their debut for the timeline to even work out somehow which makes it seem even more ridiculous). This even went as far as people spamming the comments during this vlives with questions about it, flooded his selcas on twitter with questions and “jokes” and, again, attacked anyone who told them to stop.

In all of this, watching it happen from the sidelines as someone whose bias is Namjoon, I was confused why these particular rings (which I don’t even think were the same ones each time) caused such a reaction. The members have all worn so many different rings over the years, on all fingers, sometimes even like eight at the same time, and yet it wasn’t until 2020 and their KBS interview after their first BBH100 #1 that things went bonkers. All because Namjoon decided to take the ring off before they started filming or something.

In all of this I see two things that make me wonder:

When would he have the time to find a girl (since same sex marriage is not a thing in Korea) with whom he would have enough time to befriend her, trust her (considering who Namjoon is, that one is a major thing), fall in love, date and be together for a few years, and then get married? From Seokjin we know they have maybe two or three days off a month and work at least ten hours a day on their BH regulated schedules. Add to that the time they spend in the studio working on music outside of schedules, gym time, a few hours of sleep, and perhaps a few scarce hours of free time to (in Namjoon’s case) go to a museum or ride his bike, does that really leave enough time for romance (with an outsider) that leads to marriage (and a child)?

Is age 26 at the height of their career really the time for marriage? Even more so when you are someone like Namjoon, the leader of the world’s biggest group with more responsibilities than we can likely imagine as outsiders. Sure, he said he wants kids, but he can still have those in his thirties, he can also get married in his thirties, after all, life does not end once you hit thirty despite what some teens believe.

Lastly, I actually think that if it were true, Namjoon, or really anyone from the hyung line, would be the ones who wouldn’t have to hide it, at least not when compared to the maknaes. You could argue that “it would threaten their career” but would it really? Perhaps if the ring were from a man (some namjinists did make jokes that it’s like his promise ring from Seokjin or whatever, but it was all in good fun, nothing more than that), then yes, but connected to a woman? That one member from EXO also came out and said he’s getting married because his fiancé was pregnant and all it did was cause a few fansites to close and a handful of people to “protest” in front of the SM building.

Little correction about my comments about that EXO member, though even with this my point still stands:

From anon: Re: your last post about namjoon’s rings! I agree with everything you said but just a small correction. I’m not an EXO stan but it wasn’t just a a few “protests” or fansites closing. From what I read online, he his fiancée and later wife, and his child were harassed, threatened and stalked to the point where he enlisted early just to give his family some relief. We all know there are people like this in every fandom and I know BTS would be aware of these things, so they’ll be extra careful.

Would there be delulus like this who’d go crazy if Namjoon were to say “ARMY, I’m (getting) married”? Of course. Would it ruin BTS’ career? I seriously doubt it. Do I think Namjoon would actually come out and say it if it were the case? No, but not because it’s bad idol etiquette or because BH wouldn’t allow him, but because people are insane and who knows what they would do.

It’s the same with times when people argue “I wish X ML members would just say he has a girlfriend so the ship wars would end” without taking into consideration the girl’s safety and the fact that a partner different than the one X member is shipped with has never been that big of an obstacle for some before. Just create a conspiracy theory about the company forcing this upon them and voila problem solved. We’ve seen that before when the tattoo scandal happened, and people thought JK might be dating that tattoo artist and therefore it would mean he isn’t in a relationship with Jimin or Tae.

Whatever happens in the members private lives, it is safer for all parties involved if it stays private, even more so if their romantic partners were non-idols, or non-celebrities, or another member.

Now onto the second ring question:

From anon: I am a young army and I am slowly losing my bearings. I've seen Vlive S, H and V. Many say it was a Tk*ok day (?) And all three emphasized it, and the V even wore the friendship ring for Jungkook. Is it true? I don't understand anything about it, I don't see it. After the last BTS interview on TV, I thought Vmin are best friends, not Tk*ok. I thought V said he didn't want Tk*ok and yet he was so happy during Vlive because it was Tk*ok day? Help!

Now this one, I was curious if we’d get an ask about this, even more since, if you’re a reader of our blog, you likely already know what I’m going to say.

Let’s start where you usually do—at the beginning. The day of the vlive coincided with what T*ek*okers have decided on is T*ek*ok Day, based on how supposedly some years ago this was the day Tae and JK named their subunit like this. I tried to find where exactly this happened, as in in which piece of official content, but I couldn’t find anything except for a screenshot. Anyone have a clue or a link?

Side note: T*ek*okers love using the “ship” naming as proof that not only are they real but also proudly showing it off by giving themselves a name but continently forget that they are not the only ones who gave themselves subunit names. After all Jimin and Namjoon named themselves MiniMoni, or Yoongi and Jimin who are MiniMini, Namjoon and Seokjin calling themselves RJRJ last year, or that one vlive with JK, Jimin and Seokjin where they also put together their names the way you build ship names. At the end of that vlive Tae, thanks to come prompting from the chat, named their trio vsope, so does that mean they are a romantic ship now too?

If you were watching that vlive as it was happening, and decided to look at the chat, then you know what was happening. For those who did not, basically the chat was flooded with comments about T*ek*ok Day, asking where JK is whom Tae loves, where his boyfriend JK is, congratulating Tae for T*ek*ok Day etc. Basically shippers took their shipping into a space where it doesn’t belong, into a space where the members can see it, and therefore purposefully broke one of the shipping rules (I even saw some tweet about how they were proud of themselves for literally spamming the chat with T*ek*ok comments which is so wrong, and I mean that regardless of which ship we talk about). In between those were the usual other comments like speak English or say hello to XYZ or say XYZ in whatever language, and very few comments that actually reacted to what the members were doing on screen. Like when Tae said he didn’t shave, instead of telling him that it’s fine, which it is, it’s his face after all, some decided to tell him he should shave more often, basically telling him what to do, which he saw and read out. Great job.

But all the madness came to a “climax” when Hobi was reading comments and among some other ones read out T*ek*ok, just the word not the T*ek*ok Day ones, and unfortunately we all knew he wasn’t reading out the Korean word for Thailand, which sounds the same though it is spelled a little differently. In that moment all hell broke loose. Focus cams of Tae’s facial expression in that moment went viral among shippers, most of course claiming he looked so happy, while other non-shippers claimed he didn’t look happy at all. It’s a micro moment so I won’t get into it, who knows what Tae thought in that moment and what his facial expression meant and if it even had any connection to the word and Hobi reading it out loud at all.

Because he read that comment, Hobi was basically crowned the new leader of the T*ek*ok shippers (I thought that role already went to Jimin?) and twitter basically had a meltdown.

As for the ring, I know this is something a lot of ships have, with romantic connotations according to their shippers, so I was curious how these rings supposedly look like in T*ek*ok’s case and if they even match the ring that Tae wore in the vlive. If it would, fine, if not, well…

If it’s not clear from the picture, the “supposed couple” or friendship rings are very delicate and thin, and sure enough I did find a lot of pictures in which both Tae and JK wore them, usually at different times, I will admit that. But the ring Tae wore during their vlive recently was much thicker and had some kind of design on it, therefore it’s a completely different one. Sorry. Why he wore it, if he bought it for himself or received it from someone, what emotional connotation to may or may not have, those are things we won’t know anything about unless he would tell us, so there's no point in speculating.

“Many say it was a Tk*ok day (?) And all three emphasized it” now this is curious to me since I watched the vlive as it was happening, and I didn’t see that at any point in the vlive. Sure, Hobi read that one comment, but if 95% of comments were about that, I wasn’t even surprised by it. Perhaps he thought that it would get people to stop? Perhaps he just read whatever comments his eyes landed on? Perhaps something else entirely? We have no way of knowing it so there is no point in trying to fixate on it. But besides that, they were talking about many other things and having fun making their smoothies, decorating them and just having a good time together with each other and with ARMY.

So, this way of presenting the vlive basically comes down to shipper perception, confirmation bias, and simply, almost, rewriting history.

Rings do not determine who your best friend is (according to a quick google search, wearing a ring on your index finger simply means friendship or self-esteem/authority), after all many of the members have rings either from each other or ones that match, like Namjoon buying Jimin a Cartier ring for his birthday a few years ago which Jimin proudly wore since it’s really pretty, or pink and blue rings (there are several different ones, actually) that Namjoon has worn with Seokjin in the past (which fits into the Namjinist pink and blue agenda), or the rings Jimin and JK have together according to their shippers, and many more. Jimin and Tae have a whole plethora of matching jewelry in form of necklaces, rings, bracelets, even contact lenses (as in wearing one of each pair to match each other), some which were chosen by their stylists and others they bought themselves for themselves (which are all conveniently “forgotten” by those who ship either big ML ship). Though we’ve seen that even with clothes given by their stylists they were still the ones to choose their own accessories, like Namjoon choosing a pair of glasses from a whole box of different ones, or the members choosing rings from two big boxes before going on stage.

Tae himself said, on multiple occasions across multiple years, that Jimin is his best friend, even his one and only best friend, and that he’s the one he likes most which he even proclaimed on national TV. As long as Tae doesn’t say that this has changed in the last, what, two weeks and suddenly JK is officially his new best friend, those who claim otherwise are basically nothing but shippers pushing a narrative that willfully ignores Tae’s own words. Just like they ignore and twist his Weverse comment about how T*ek*okers should get out of their imagination. What doesn’t fit is ignored or adjusted until it does fit.

Lastly, sure enough, Tae really was happy during that vlive but I’m fairly certain (though neither you, them or I will ever know for sure, we’re not in Tae’s head) it had absolutely no connection to T*ek*ok Day, something shippers created and not Tae and JK themselves, seeing as Tae has been in a very good and happy mood for a few months now. Whatever makes him so happy, I truly hope it’ll continue making him happy and I wish shippers (and solo stans) would stop trying to force a reason (which fits them) upon his emotions.

I know it’s easy to get confused by how loud shippers are online, especially as young ARMY (in this case both ARMY who are young age wise but also young in the sense of being new to the fandom), but shipper opinions, in many cases, are just noise, and also noise twisted and skewed a certain way to suit them. If you kept to OT7 spaces on the day of that vlive, no one really paid attention to the ring, most were annoyed by and furious at the shamelessness of the shippers in the comments, and tried to just focus on how fun the vlive was instead.

JIKOOK DYNAMICS: JIMIN'S LOVE LANGUAGE

PREFACE

In my previous post, I shared my thoughts on what I think is Jikook's love language, specifically Jungkook's; and how in my estimation Jimin is the only member within BTS that speaks it, comes close to speaking it and most importantly makes the effort to speak it.

In this post, I attempt to outline what I think is Jimin's love language and show the various ways I feel JK speaks it or comes close to speaking it more so than the others in BTS.

Now I have to state for the record that I do not know or purport to know Jimin or Jungkook or any of these members herein mentioned in any way special and personal other than through the content we all consume on them.

Nor do I intend to be malicious or disrespectful towards them with this post, to intend to strip away their individuality for the sake of shipping symmetry.

Thus, I reiterate, everything I express in here is my thoughts, my observations and my opinion and I pray you treat it as such.

Let the records show, also that, I will bug spray any fake woke wannabe edgy shipper with a Tuktukker complex that takes my words out of context, misconstrue it to suit their own agenda and then turn around to call me out for it. In the name of Jesus, I will avada kedabra your ass. Seriously.

JIMIN

I've always been fascinated by Jimin. By the person he is. And although I do not have a comprehensive understanding of this man's inner workings, he's got to be the most complex and frankly interesting character I've come across in all my shipping years.

His duality is confusing and coupled with his Libra energy, his character and personality can be and is quite often misconstrued and misinterpreted within the shipping community.

He is friendly, cute, funny, beautiful and ship compatible with anyone.

Very often, I find, most people cannot tell his personality from his idol self slash persona or even his love language from his affectionate nature; thus resulting in these bizzare fallacies and ridiculous assumptions about him such as: he is a flirt, hoe, clingy, homewrecker, attention seeker and a plethora of slurs and sobriquet that's defamatory and slanderous at best- its ridiculous.

I get that not everyone likes him and as such wouldn't hesitate to filter his words and actions through arbitrary metrics to arrive at conclusions that profits them and does nothing but help them make sense of their hate- Y'all don't love yourselves enough.

Not to say he is my bias therefore he is perfect. That would be a blunder. He has his shortcomings, he is human after all. What I'm saying is most people don't get him and as such read him wrong?

What's more discombobulating, is the stan who swears up and down they know Jimin well enough but don't see him treating JK any different from the rest of the boys in BTS therefore Jikook isn't real- insert shook pikachu face.

Then there are those stans with genuine shipping concerns about the love dynamics between the two:

Those that feel JM gives more to JK than he receives back. That he is more supportive of JK than JK is of him. Very often, these people would bring up the issue of JK not promoting Promise when it first came out as evidence of this- it's been years let it go.

JK not being as vocal and open about his feelings and interest in JM the way Jimin is and has been about JK is also another area of concern for these stans. If you try to explain to them its because JK is/was shy they will kick- your- ass. Hell, I will kick your ass too. I'll explain later.

Some people also- I know I have at one point- have described JK's interest in and descriptions of JM as a bit shallow and vain compared to how the other members speak of Jimin.

To them, the other members usually talk about how smart and intelligent JM is, how kind and nurturing he is. How much of himself he gives to them. That the way the members talk about Jimin often helps give us a glimpse into the real Park Jimin as distinct from the persona we see on the screens.

But then there is JK: JM hyung is sexy. He has pretty eyes. 'I want you.' Then he proceeds to drool over the Jibooty, squeeze them legs shut tight while struggling to sit through a Jimin solo dance without popping boners left right left around Jimin- Bless him.

I mean, dude nearly snapped his neck trying to catch a glimpse of the Ji-abs in the middle of a performance? Damn.

To be fair, the other members don't talk like this about Jimin and sexualise Jimin as often as JK does because, they don't want to screw Jimin's brains out? Cough, cough. Hashtag save Jimin from JK. Lol

If JK is sexually attracted to Jimin, how else do you expect him to express that? Never mind that he's done some of these things subconsciously at times. You know what...

Y'all need to give this man a break!

He was a hormonal teen- he is still relatively pretty young. It's ridiculous to expect and demand such high level of maturity from a 16/17 year old experiencing a nonplatonic love for the first time in his life and more so in an unforgiving and invasive environment such as that in which he found himself.

Jk and Jimin found each other before they found themselves and it's unreasonable to think that that didn't have a toll on their relationship dynamics. They are human.

They are each growing and maturing at different paces. Their relationship has suffered through its growing pains; Certainly, one person is going to appear lacking in one or two areas in one way shape or form and at any given point in their love journey. That doesn't make them less real.

Again, their careers and the pursuit of it haven't exactly given them the space, time or normalcy to explore what they are and who they are in a functional way, in my opinion.

Everything is moving fast in their world, everything is highly exaggerated and highly scrutinized. Kpop is not exactly a healthy space to foster a healthy relationship and it would be a miracle if any of them should come out unscathed.

Neither one of them went searching for this love thingy nor were they even experienced enough to look at their relationship beyond the convenience of it and the excitement of it- The orgasms were enough reason for them, I think.

I get uncomfortable when some Jikookers, out of good intentions, claim Jikook knew what they were doing, should have known therefore could have known the consequences of them coupling up in a group like BTS before entering into their relationship- let me stop you right there!

While this assumption may seem like a compliment to them it also perpetuates the adultification of early days Jikook which I find disturbing.

They were teens not grown adults when they fell in love. We can't expect and demand such level of maturity from them at that age as cool as that would have made them.

They don't need to be cool to be real. They don't need to be mature to be real.

Jikook is real regardless of whether they were thoughtful or not thoughtful about the consequences of them choosing to date in a group setting, or a homophobic society at the onset of their relationship.

It's ridiculous to dismiss what they are now on the grounds that S.K is a homophobic society or that dating a coworker is not inconsequential.

People date their coworkers all the time and there are gay couples in S.K.

Jikook were too young to comprehend the consequences of dating because which teen worries about all of that before popping one off for the lord? On which planet, sir/ma'am??Were they thinking with their 'ducks?' I believe so. But again, that doesn't make them any less real.

From what I can tell anyway, 2018 was the year Jikook had anything resembling a serious thoughtful contemplation of the status of their relationship- Well, 2018 and this later half of 2020 as some of you might have already noticed. More on this later.

But yes, this adultification of early days Jikook is absurd and needs to stop. And what's equally disturbing is the infantilization of the adult day Jikook- you can't expect Jikook dynamics to remain the same throughout the years. That's bizzare.

Don't expect them to be their same jeonlous, Jimlous, possessive selves. They are growing. They are evolving as individuals and as a pair.

I side eye the fuck out of these fake woke shippers and 'grown ups' who filter Jikook interactions through adult lens and tag moments like Jimlous and Jeonlous as toxic and unhealthy without taking into context where they were at in their love journey or even their age. What y'all think this is? Fiction? Get the fuck outta here.

Jikook have had to learn and grow on the Job and around their job and learn to love eachother under the scrutiny of severe cameras and weird Ahjummas. Leave them the fuck alone or I swear I will petrify your ass for an entire comeback season. Lol

All that being said, I get it. The way JK talks about Jimin isn't exactly special or unique from the way the other's speak about Jimin. But it isn't exactly superficial either...

And yes, it's quite unsettling that he doesn't describe Jimin in a way that gives meaningful insight into Jimin's personality as distinct from the others', given as he has exclusive access to Jimin more so than any of the members- we have a lot to unpack today, don't we?

Then on the other hand, there are those who think the exact opposite and see JK as the one who gives more to their relationship. That JK takes their relationship more seriously than Jimin does. They see Jimin as a bit wishy-washy when it comes to his commitment to their relationship- this breaks my heart.

Often, such people will cite Jimin's flirty nature, his lack of boundaries with others amongst other things, to prove their point...

JIMIN'S LOVE LANGUAGE

Jimin first got on my alt-ship radar in Rookie King when he was given an opportunity to air any and all of his grievances accumulated over the years against any member or staff of BigHit but instead chose to use that opportunity to talk about JK and how JK's actions had been hurting him.

Prior to this, he was just my bias and I would casually ship him with Suga, V, RM and basically all the members- except JK. I just couldn't ship JK with anyone.

Back then, I had a vague sense of JM's personality but felt I knew enough about him to theorize on his love language and JK was the last person I thought of as capable of meeting those emotional needs of Jimin's.

Rookie King changed my mind.

Jimin wasn't just trying to squash his differences with JK, he was trying to get closer to him. To get emotionally intimate with him- this is one of the things that sparked my interest in their dynamics.

Because it wasn't as if they weren't close. They were. They had a skinship between them. Skinship, or lack of physical boundaries as I like to call it, is one of the means through which BTS achieve intimacy amongst them.

Jikook had that between them at the time, they went everywhere together, woke each other up- they were close.

Yet Jimin felt they weren't close enough. That there was a wall between them. Now, I see a lot of people misinterpret this period in the Jikook timeline as that Jimin was crushing hard on JK. He wasn't. In my opinion.

You see, Jimin was the last person to Join the band. This was bound to have an effect on his relationship dynamics with the rest of the members as he had missed out on two years worth of emotional connection and camaraderie with them.

He had had only one year to bond and get to know the others away from the cameras and in a way that could help him develop a sense of belongingness within the group.

Within this one year, he had school, voice training, and other activities that possibly got in the way of him truly building an intimate connection with the others.

He is the only member out of the seven whose intimacy journey got captured on camera. He had to foster a connection with the others with the cameras around.

But building a connection with people even in a platonic sense is quite an intimate and private process. It takes vulnerability, honesty, a willingness to submit and subject oneself to varying degrees of humiliation, a sacrifice of the self, ego and pride in a way that just strips you naked- metaphorically speaking.

And in Jimin's case, he had to go through this stage and process openly and with the cameras around- the second hand embarrassment I get from watching early days Park Jimin!

He literally had to be the clown of the group, the hufflepuff, the clingy one, the flirty one, the one with the abs, the loud and chatty one as well as all the tasteless epithets people now weaponize against him.

I believe, all he was trying to do at this stage was breach the barriers he felt existed between him and the others as the newcomer of the group so he didn't feel like an outsider.

That is his first love language- the need to belong. He has a strong desire to feel connected with people. He cares about people and connection. He's reiterated this throughout the years and even more loudly in the recent Japan interviews.

He wanted to be part of BTS both physically and emotionally. He wanted to fit in, to belong with them, to be accepted and viewed as one of the boys- BTS.

You could see this in the way he had adopted the mannerisms of the group- the skinship, the love language of the group if you will.

It is why when Suga complained about him not liking him as much, Jimin immediately drew closer to him and wrapped his hands around him, initiating skinship between them to show he liked him.

Jimin tried to speak the groups love language so he could bond with them but he also began to infuse his own love language.

If you've seen his relationship with his father you'd understand that Jimin expresses his love through giving, nurturing etc. It is how his primary care givers showed him love and so how he also shows and conveys his love.

The members have talked about how he would encourage them to talk, to open up, how he would listen to them, be there for them and give them gifts- the birthday gift exchange culture in BTS didn't exist until Jimin arrived in BTS.

What I'm trying to say is, Jimin has a distinct way of showing love that is unique from how everyone else in the group expresses their love. That, there is also an established love parlance within BTS that everyone speaks and that is skinship.

So when Jimin does skinship with any member he is not acting 'clingy' he is just speaking the love language that the group understands. But when Jimin nurtures and acts supportive and what not, he is speaking his own unique love language.

Now I have talked extensively about how Jimin expresses his in my last post so I will be focusing mainly on how he receives loves or what gestures he interprets as love.

And since there is a general consensus that VMin have an emotional connection, I will be referencing their relationship a lot for comparisons sake.

Tae is the only member Jimin got to spend the most time with around predebut without the intrusion of the cameras. This i feel allowed Tae room to strip back and be fully vulnerable with Jimin without reservation as is required of intimacy- which was not the case for Jikook hence JK shying away from interacting with JM in front of the cameras.

Jikook wasn't accorded the luxury of privacy VMin had to build their bond. Jikook had to build their bond with the camera's trailing them. How many times have we seen JK give death stares to the camera people for invading his me time with Jimin?

Not to be psychoanalytic but I feel, this is what induced the exhibitionist tendencies we see in them- or perhaps I'm wrong and this is just them being extra. Bless them.

Within the one year JM was trying to connect with JK through skinship, JK was also only coming around to understanding what skinship meant to him. They were evolving at different paces.

JK has the most walls in BTS. He wasn't just physically closed off to skinship in the early days forcing Tae to strip him naked in the bathroom, he was emotionally closed off too.

He is still pretty much emotionally closed off- he likes to put up walls. He had his own room at the dorm, does his own laundry, barely keeps in touch with the others or pick up the damn phone when they call etc.

Jk barely partakes in the group's established way of life except for perhaps the skinship. In my opinion.

It took JK a while to understand this culture of skinship though. And the members, all of them, had to push his boundaries further back in order to connect with him.

For instance, Jin pinching his nipples to wake him up, Tae doing- well, all of it. Go watch Taekook sexual tension edits, I dare you. You'll understand.

These members had three years off camera with JK to build a connection with him and even they were met with some resistance from JK.

All Jimin had was a year with JK. I feel Jimin lowkey coveted what the others had with JK and perhaps wanted to have that with him too. Why? Because of his need to belong and connect with people. Watching JK's dynamics with the others probably made him feel left out.

I also understand how this could have been overwhelming for young JK who was having both his physical boundaries and emotional boundaries breached at the same time by this person whom he he'd known for only a year.

That's just one of the major differences between Jikook and Taekook: while Tae was busy breaching the physical walls between him and JK, Jimin was attempting emotional heist on him. Bravo Jimin, Bravo.

So do I think at this point in 2013 that Jikook were falling in love or had fallen in love? NO. But what I took from that moment was that Jimin wanted and needed to feel a sense of belongingness with JK.

Mind you I said he wanted to belong, not owned. Freedom is a component of Jimin's love language. In as much as he wants to be kept he wants to be set free- To be be given the room and freedom to explore options and take risks without judgement and without sanctions.

This need is often misconstrued as him being noncommittal.

His need for freedom, I believe, stems from his being raised in a conservative home with parents that directed and dictated every facet of his life and wouldn't even allow him to pursue his passions until later. It took a while for his father to give him the go ahead to pursue his dream- which is performing on stage.

This is why I said in my last post that Jimin has a need to be in control of the decision making in a relationship. Being able to do as he pleases is important to him. Being able to control his own narrative is important to him. And the only person in BTS that permits him to have such authority over him is JK.

Now, I know you are going to say 'but JK is a bit possessive yadda yadda yadda'.

Listen, Jimin's need for freedom is inextricably linked with his fear of judgment and repercussion. What this means is, although he wants his freedom he is often afraid of what will happen if he should go for it.

As such, very often he wouldn't do anything without permission. Especially if he feels it's going to land him in trouble.

I fist noticed this in the 2014 Jikook bangtan bomb when he said he was starting to take a liking to JK but then right after he asked if JK was ok with that. Suga have also said, Jimin doesn't go out of his way to do things that makes people hate him- See this is why he needs JK. He could use some rebellion in his life.

However, this fear of sanctions often makes him complacent to and an accomplice in toxic behavioural patterns.

For instance, until recently, he would enable JK and encourage his acts of jealousy and possessiveness and even incite them at times. He would hold on to the thorns if it means keeping the rose.

But I see him asserting himself and demanding space within their relationship at times but when he does and JK withdraws he would act clingy around JK.

It is what Manila was about, what August 2019 was about and what April/May 2020 was about. I know some of y'all don't agree with my analysis on these moments, but I'm gonna have to stand by it.

Jimin is all about the balance of scales. The balance of needs and wants. The balance of fears and desires. It's just the Libra in him. Give him too much freedom and he will feel unwanted, hold on too tight and he would feel suffocated.

'I value my relationship. Spending time with my friends is gold' remember this shade?

Jimin's fear of Judgment comes from being a perfectionist and also being raised in a conservative home with a lot of expectations of him to be the model son as the elder male.

Thus, he instinctively gravitates towards people who are less judgy or have too much expectations of him.

Also, because he believes he has to work hard to achieve the things he wwants he wants to be loved, it would mean a lot to him if he didn't have to work hard to have someone love him.

It makes sense then that he would gravitate towards JK.

Jk embodies all of Jimin's wildest desires. I call this the allure of the Golden Maknae. Jk doesn't conform. He doesn't care about people's opinions of him and lives his life on his own terms- something Jimin is striving for.

No member in BTS is as free spirited, or as rebellious as JK is. When Suga told him not to get a tattoo because the fans would hate it- he's gotten it anyway hasn't he?

The best part, JK fell all on his own. And you damn right. he fell hard.

Still on the subject of fears, another fear I feel Jimin has that speaks to his love language is the fear of being a burden.

It is why he gives and gives and keeps giving. He'd rather give than receive. Which by the way, JK is the only member I have seen Jimin demand back what he gives him. Emotionally speaking.

Because he gives a lot of himself, he burns out quickly and feels emotionally drained quite often.

He has admitted himself that he used to drink by himself in his room whenever he felt drained. I assume he drank by himself because he didn't want to be a burden to others. Aka JK.

You see, JK is an empath. He feels people's pain as if they were his own. You just have to see him tear up while watching JM cry to understand what I mean by this. Jimin is a nurturer, he knows what it feels like to listen to someone's pain.

And if Tae is the one he goes to when it becomes overbearing then what does he need JK for? Glad you asked!

What JK offers Jimin is nourishment. A safe space for him to heal and reboot. JK replenishes Jimin. It is why he constantly wants to be around him.

Jk has been a canvas in their love dynamics from day one. They've both had to negotiate their needs and wants to make their relationship work. Which is something I find unique about their dynamics and why I believe they are real.

JK's lack of experience in dating, meant he had gone into their relationship without any preconceived notions of love. He's had to learn to love Jimin the way Jimin wants to be loved.

Coming from the background he's coming from, and having been denied his ambitions for such a long time, I see why Jimin would be drawn to people that are quite ambitious.

And even though, JK wasn't this person at first, Jimin has had to hype him up to the task. He pushes JK to be more ambitious.

When it comes to JK, I feel it's more about his potential to be everything Jimin wants in a partner and JK seems more than happy to comply with this.

Because of Jimin's duality and as a natural nurturer, I feel Jimin would also be attracted to someone emotionally open to recieving his love but not too emotionally dependent on him- the balance of scales I mentioned earlier.

It is why VMin wouldn't work, in my opinion. Tae is too emotionally dependent on Jimin. He ends up taking too much than he gives. On the other hand, Suga isn't emotionally dependent enough.

Again, for a man who's battled insecurity for years, it's safe to assume security, certainty and stability are an intricate part of his love language.

He seeks validation of these needs through the most random of things. In my opinion. He wants to be the one that knows JK the best. It matters to him if their clothes match, if their hair colors match, if JK meets his eyes in the middle of a serious comeback interview, if he checks all of JK's answers- hell, dude be whispering sweet empty nothings in JK's ears most times, talking about they are destined to be together and shit. You are me, I am you. Shit.

As annoying as some of these behaviors may be, JK is very considerate and tolerant of them and consideration is another one of Jimin's love language. This goes back to having been denied his dreams by his father. That denial flowed from a lack of consideration of his needs.

And as much as emotionally connected he is with Tae, Tae barely takes his feelings into consideration. And you see this in the letter Tae's written to Jimin. Or even in the dumpling incident where Tae put his want above Jimin's.

Not to mention the moments, JM have had to walk out of rooms because- Tae won't stop playing with JK's dam hair! Lol. They are cute.

People take from Jimin without reservation. But Jk is considerate as Jimin is of JK's needs.

Jk wasn't the 'exhibitionist' in that pair. He's a very private individual from what I can tell.

That PDA, that exhibitionism we see in them, that's all Park Jimin. He kinky. Dude freaky as fuck- we ain't mad at that. Bless him.

He enjoys public displays of affection. It's how he receives love. But PDA is not JK's love language, in my opinion. Yet he goes out of his way to show his affections for JM openly.

The best example I can give of this is Rosebowl.

JK understands that in order to be intimate with JM he has to allow himself to be influenced by him.

And Jimin understands that, as much as he wants to be close to JK that he doesn't have to rush him or force him into giving him the things he need from their relationship.

They are both very considerate of each other's needs, as random and ridiculous as those needs may be and cater to them in a way that is uniquely them.

Take the New Jersey live 2019 for example. Jimin seemed exhausted. Didn't want to be on another Live that night but JK clearly wanted to be seen on a Live together with him so he was there.

Another instance is the rock bison incident, where JM exchanged his toy for JK's just to make JK happy.

CONCLUSION

Listen, Jimin is in love with Jk no matter how imperfect you think he is.

No matter how much you think JK sucks at expressing his feelings for JM, Jimin loves him. No matter how close JM is with the other members, aka VMin, Yoonmin, Minimoni and the others; no matter the lack of emotional and physical boundaries between him and the others he will always fall back on Jk because none of those relationships fulfill him as much as JK does.

Jimin's constant need to be around JK could only mean there is some he gets from JK, a sense of fulfillment he gets that he doesn't get from any other member.

JOURNEY WITH KPOP, I'LL START

My history with kpop started when I was like, 8 and it was, (as of any other 8 year old during that time) because of Exo. But alas, we did not have the luxury of technology and a hand phone back then so I never really got to memorize what they look like, let alone their names. I "liked" them because of my cousin and you know how kids are with people they admire, I wanted my cousin to like me so bad.

Then I didn't see my cousin for a while and generally forgot about Exo because of my short attention span. Then years later, as BTS rose in popularity. I had the displeasure of witnessing a more than unfriendly banter on socials between two different fandoms and I realized how toxic some fandoms are, swore off of kpop. I actually despised it for a while because I hated being a basic bitch that thirsted over some korean guys.

Now I really hate how I was back then.

Then, the day it happened. The year? 2018. My sister introduced me to Seventeen. I reacted negatively to them at first of course, cause I claimed myself an anti towards the general clusterfuck of the kpop industry. But shit the first song she made me listen to just had to be Clap. And the moment my eyes landed on these 13 boys I instantly felt something tug at my heart because 'holy shit how are these guys so pretty?'

I then worked at memorizing their names.

I struggled at first. Obviously.( I couldn't memorize my classmates names and I see them on a daily basis, how the hell am I supposed to know the names of 13 people I've never met before in my life?) The solution was served to me on a silver platter when one day, I stumbled across a seventeen being crackheads video. It was perfect. With these videos, I got to understand these 13 boys better not from an idol perspective, but from a 'they are still humans' one.

For a good few months, I only liked Seventeen. I became a little crazed over them but it was still not crazy enough that I fell in love with them in a romantic sense or anything, I still had a brain mind you. Of course I knew nothing was ever going to happen and I was never going to meet them, least of all marry them. What am I? A sasaeng?

But, it was still only them. I still was aware of the other groups out there. Mostly that one that starts with a B that everyone at my school keeps obsessing over and I frankly find them slightly overrated, but I digress. I started exploring a bit. Expanding my horizon if you will. ONEUS was the next group I found but at the time they still had just debuted and I lost interest in them fairly quickly to my disappointment. (DON'T WORRY THOUGH IM A HARDCORE TO MOON NOW OKAT HWANWOONG THE BADDEZT BITCH) Back to exploring.

Of course if you love Seventeen you would have to know of their husbands, Monsta X. I tell you IM is very good at convincing me. Got7 was next. Fell in love with BamBam. Quickly realized I had a thing for rappers and the second youngest when choosing my bias because, Vernon and Jooheon could not have been a mere coincidence.

Seventeen, MonstaX, Got7, Exo, Kard, Astro, Blackpink, Twice, Red Velvet, Mamamoo, Ateez, TXT, Ikon, Super Junior, Stray Kids. I memorized all of them just for the kicks of it. Quickly became obsessed with all of them fairly quickly too.(Btw mamamoo made me realize I was Bi which was quite an interesting journey.) I even took a liking to the solo artists, like Eric Nam, Kim Samuel, Sunmi all that jazz. Even the actual kpop bands, Onewe, Day6, The Rose, N.flying.

All this, in the span of three years. I still do stay away from the big BTS, I'm just not quite interested in them no matter how much you try to convince me. Nothing against them though, they are quiet nice, I like their music, (but in terms of their faces I onky know what RM looks like) I just really dislike the amount of toxics there are in their fandom.

This year though, I decided to take on the biggest memorizing game of my life, that is the ever growing Neo Culture Technology.

I knew they had many members, I just didn't expect it to be THAT many. I am still struggling though. With Dream mostly. Doesn't mean I don't have problems with the rest. I already have no problem with 127. U is still confusing but I manage. WayV is.....um....

ANYWAYS thats my journey with kpop. I know, this was fucking long but I enjoyed it. I am still at work, memorizing some members and am currently trying to add The Boyz into my never ending list of pretty Korean, Chinese, Japanese, American and Australian men and women. Seventeen are still my number one group though. But stanning them makes me have slightly higher standards for choreos and synchronozations. Oops.

Now, as a multi, I feed off of, (live for essentially), the idols interactions with other groups. Which seriously makes me wish some fandoms would stop fighting cause it is literally helping no one when they fight. Because at the end of the day, these idols work night and day to please us, trained endlessly to get to where they are. And some of them are strapped down by contract to some soul sucking ent. company that sometimes would refuse to give them the tools to further their careers.

By fighting, it wards off potential fans because they think, if the fandom is this bad, what kind of people are the idols? Most of the negativity though is the ones against their idols dating. To which I say, who the fuck cares? Why can't you stand the people you admire be happy? (LIKE HYUNA AND EDAWN AND HEECHUL AND MOMO ARE THE FUCKING CUTEST OKAY) Because lets face it, they aren't going to date you. They never will. That's just reality. Can't you see how miserable they are? So many idols kill themselves due to depression and pressures from fans, how sad is that?

Have you seen Super Junior? Most of them are nearing their fucking 40s and they still aren't married. Thats so fucking depressing. Atrocious doesn't even begin to tell you how I feel about fans fighting for their so called oppas dating. Its irrational. Its insane.

I have never in my life “unstanned” a group/soloist. And I don’t think I ever will do that unless one of them is blatantly hateful or rude or discriminatory. All of you saying that you’re going to unstan Chris Cuz of a joke are really vexing me.

I’ll clarify that unstanning is different to like moving on? Like I used to be the biggest fan of Black Veil Brides (shocker I know wow) and I’m at a time in my life now where I’ve moved on and they’re not a big thing I’m into. I’ll still listen to their music here and there and I appreciate all of their hard work. That happens to everyone. And some would consider that unstanning.

What I’m talking about is when you make a conscious decision to say “fuck these guys” and you purposefully stop supporting them. That’s different. I’m also in no way expecting anyone to break the bank for a band and buy all their albums and all their concert tickets. No. You can stan a group and not have merch or anything like that. I’m not trying to be a gatekeeper. In my opinion, a Kpop stan is literally someone who knows the members of a group and listens to their music. There’s no clear qualifications. It’s a band.

All groups deserve support. Regardless of Gender, Race, Genre of music, Company etc. There is no group that deserves support more than the other. Obviously I love the groups I stan but I will never purposely degrade another group. And neither should anyone else.

Saying that, I really fucking love Bang Chan. He’s genuinely one of the best leaders out there. He’s so hardworking, kind, caring, down to earth, talented and he’s just a fucking lovely person in general. This boy has applied himself so much to this band. He made a pact to himself that for the first year of Skiz debut that he wouldn’t drink alcohol or basically allow himself any break or distraction from his work. His obsession with Stray Kids was borderline unhealthy. He told us if he didn’t have Stray Kids he’d probably be dead. When they said “You Make Stray Kids Stay.” Chris fElt that. Yano? And the fact that all of y’all are just throwing that out the window over 2 syllables fucking pisses me off. (Not to mention the other 8 members)

You can stan a band and not associate yourself with the fandom. That’s what I do with EXO. I do not claim EXO-L’s. But that’s a different story. If any of you have an issue with some of the younger or less aware stay who comment daddy on his pictures or his Vlives, you don’t have to associate with that. That’s your right. But I implore you. Don’t “unstan” Stray Kids over a joke.

Of course you’re allowed to feel what you want. If it makes you uncomfortable or anything like that then do what you feel is right. But to everyone else, please understand that it’s a joke. I don’t know what goes on in Chris’ head of course but in my opinion I don’t think he minds the babygirl/babyboy thing too much and I think it’s quite sweet. It’s the daddy thing I’m a bit iffy on. I think he knows what he’s saying but he also knows that it’s a joke. What he perhaps didn’t know was how some stay would take it.

Which I will say is a different story. Commenting it on Vlive or on IG is different than to his face. I don’t think that the Stay that said it should be shamed or anything like that. Chris mentioned it as a funny anecdote. But I will ask Stay to maybe think before they speak. And to perhaps not say that? To his face? He’s very awkward, bless his cotton socks. (Also that Stay that held up the Chris eat my ass sign is different. You’re nasty. You need Jesus. There will never be a time or place to say that to an idol. No.)

Once again, I don’t know for sure what Chris’ opinion on it is. If he is in fact uncomfortable with it then I hope he tells us that and then I hope that Stay will politely stop. But I do think that he is relatively okay with it and he thinks it’s a joke.

But,,,, no one can know for sure until he tells us. Until then. Do not speak for him. You can just keep to yourself and have that knowledge that you aren’t doing what they are doing. Do not be like a girl I seen on Vlive who got up on her high horse and said that she had been stanning Skiz for ages now and you could “check her posts for proof” and was calling everyone on the chat disrespectful like she knew them so well and knew how they felt. No. That’s out of hand. Do not shame people. It’s a joke.

And yes Jokes can be taken out of hand. 100%. And I hope we never do get to that point. You can still be respectful while joking around. #1 rule: DO NO HARM. Just keep that in mind. Y’all can joke around. Just don’t make others uncomfortable.

I’m sorry that I went on this rant, I’d just been seeing it all over my dash and I was getting sick of it.(I hope I worded it right) Stray Kids deserve more. Thanks for reading. I don’t want to cause a lot of discourse, I don’t want arguments. I just want everyone to calm down. It seems like every week after Chris’ live everyone just starts arguing. That’s not Stay. so y’all I was watching some unpopular kpop opinion videos on youtube and omg, a bitch has so much to say like they were all just so wrong, so here I am with some of my opinions (and idk how to make youtube videos so you’re just gonna have to settle for this)

1. BTS vocal line is fantastic and versatile

I’m not gonna claim to be a musical expert here, but all four of the boys in the vocal line are so talented. everyone hypes rap line (and they deserve it too) but I rarely see stuff about how amazing vocal line is, and they’re so versatile (examples = Jin in Awake and Dionysus, Jimin in Lie and Serendipity, Taehyung in Stigma and DNA, and Jungkook in Boy In Luv and Begin). also, to those who say BTS can’t sing well live, here are some videos to prove that wrong

2. Twice’s cute concept suits them and that’s it

before I got into Kpop, I used to just see at as cringy bubblegum pop and never saw myself liking that. and then I heard Twice’s Fancy. that shit slaps and I won’t hear anything else. the girls pull off the cute concept so well, and the outfits and mv visuals are amazing like Twice is owning it. I’m not really a Twice fan but I’ve listened to some of their other title tracks and I think they’re really good, like Twice do the cute concept really well. also, Mina, Sana, Nayeon and Jihyo’s vocals during the bridge give me chills, they sound amazing)

3. if idols can’t sing/rap/perform well live, they shouldn’t be idols

I’m not aiming this at anyone in particular, so don’t get mad and start defending your faves in the comments, but the whole kpop culture is live performances. idols do live performances all the time, much more often than western artists, and so it is so important that they can perform live well. this includes vocal stability, volume, strength, breath control, everything.

4. stop putting female artists in dresses/skirts so short that we can see their shorts underneath

performing live to an audience is hard; I know, I’m a dancer, and I’ve done it (not to audiences as big as ones of k-pop artists obviously, but the point still stands). when you’re onstage, you want more than anything to feel comfortable so you can give a performance to the best of your ability and feel proud of yourself afterwards. I’m sorry, but I find it hard to believe that these female idols feel comfortable dancing in clothes that are so short and so tight. they can barely move properly, which limits the effort they can put into the choreography, making them seem lazy. I’m not saying this because I disagree with sKiMpY cLoTHiNg but I just think it’s ridiculous and must be uncomfortable for the female idols. it also limits the complexity of their choreographies, which is when you get shitty, boring and unentertaining choreographies, in comparison to some boy group choreographies. I’m sorry, but if I was following certain boy groups performances at an award show with a simple choreography like ddu-du ddu-du (no shade, I love it, it’s just simple), I’d be a little bit embarrassed lol

5. Blackpink have so much potential and YG just doesn’t use it

I don’t even know where to start. there isn’t a single blackpink song out there that I don’t like; their vocals and rap are good, choreography and visuals are good, everything is good. but they could be so much better. first of all, Rosé’s voice is so beautiful and unique and I don’t know why they make her sing in that stupid voice. it’s going to start damaging her voice soon enough and I don’t know why they do it. second, Jisoo’s voice is so amazing and she always has the least lines. I just think her voice is beautiful but she’s so underused in their songs. third, Lisa is such a good dancer, but the Blackpink choreographies don’t do her justice. they need to give her little solo bits in the choreos or something because her talent is just going to waste.

6. Blackpink are overhyped

controversial, and before y’all start, I love Blackpink like tattoo blonde Jennie in the KTL teaser on my forehead please, but it needs to be said; Blackpink don’t deserve the hype they get. this point links in with the point above because omg they literally have like 15 songs, and they’ve been around for like 3 years. they haven’t even released a full album like damn YG be clowning us, stanning a group that’s never released an album. I’m sorry, but they get so much hype, when there are other groups out there, that are so much more versatile, their choreographies are better, their songs are better, they’re just better in general. I’m not blaming the bp girls for this because we all know it’s YG’s fault. if maybe they had the chance, with better choreographies, better songs, better everything, then they would be deserving of the hype they get

the fact that in Regular, Taeyong and Mark both have more than 30 seconds each, and Winwin doesn’t even have a full 5 seconds is ridiculous. in Cherry Bomb, Taeyong and Mark both have more than 40 seconds and Johnny has less than 9. SM need to distribute lines between them more effectively, or cut down the members in the group (and one of them is a much better choice than the other). they’re all talented but SM only seems to recognise Taeyong and Mark and idk why tbh.

9. being told to stan someone will make me want to stan them even less

no shade at the group themselves, but all I see on twitter is Loona stans saying to stan Loona (it’s not just Loona but that’s the one that comes to mind). you telling me to stan them doesn’t make me want to stan them. I’m sure they’re super talented and nice people, but I now have no desire to find that out for myself.

10. ARMY are constantly being shit on for being a nEgATiVe fAnBaSe when the majority of ARMY are amazing, generous and kind people

obviously, every fanbase has toxic fans, that goes without saying, but for some reason, ARMY has a reputation amongst the kpop community for being toxic and negative, and I just don’t see it. every time someone who doesn’t know about BTS tweets about them, all the replies are ARMYs gently and kindly educating them, giving them links and pictures so they can learn more. they’ve donated so much money to charity and done so many charitable things under the boys names, and the ARMY community is just full of amazing wonderful people. stop shitting on us for no reason, y’all just hate us because your faves probably like them too lol

it’s funny, i didn’t necessarily think i was gonna make one of these posts, and i’m still not entirely sure what i have to say.

but i got into astro because of some of my friends acting in my junior year musical. they were the only two people i knew at my high school who were as into kpop as i was, and a year older than me, and i sort of latched onto them, because i had no one else to talk to about the groups i liked. one day during dinner, before they had to go start doing hair and makeup and i had to go sweep and preset the stage for the top of show, they pulled me aside and showed me a video on one of their phones, not the greatest quality but good enough to show me three boys dancing to a bruno mars song, and they persuaded me to fall in love.

this was before debut, and i was busy; i didn’t follow up as much as i should have, but over the next few days they showed me more videos, and one day they looked at me and said “this one, rocky, he’s my bias, she biases bin, so you can have sanha.” that was fine--he was cute, and i didn’t know them enough to refute that. but then they told me to watch tbc, and i did, and i caught myself paying more attention to rocky than to sanha, and i felt terrible. i felt like i owed it to the other girls, so i could continue to have people to fangirl with, to not start to bias someone they had already claimed, and it made it hard to stan astro with that internal conflict.

but breathless came out over the summer, and i didn’t have the girls leaning over my shoulder or holding the phone, and i decided it couldn’t hurt, so i came back. i followed some blogs, messaged a prominent member of the fandom, and fumbled my way through getting my first sideblog from her, and i let myself love park minhyuk with everything i had. that was one of the best decisions i’ve ever made, because it led me to a wonderful fandom and people so full of love and a sense of community i didn’t know i could get just from stanning a group. i gave up on the girls; their possessiveness was something other rocky stans taught me was wrong, and i had people online i could gush to who would understand and join in rather than get mad.

i kind of dove headfirst into the fandom: i wrote a few things, got too busy to keep that up, then got into a group chat that’s still active over two years later, 6 girls my age i struggled through college apps with, cried with about comebacks, cried with and to about work and friend drama and school, and in a way grew up with. @ the roach stays here, i love y’all so much no matter how you may pronounce pecan, and @ ani thank you so much for organizing the gc.

i drifted away from astro at times, no matter how much i tried to avoid it. i got into other groups, finished high school, started college. somehow, though, i’ve always come back, and i think that’s the most important thing about astro for me. i’ve always come back. it doesn’t matter what i get busy with or how long or how far i may drift, i always return for the comebacks, always dive headfirst right back in, and there’s never been another group i’ve done that for. typically once i drift i leave fully, even if i might dip my toes in every now and then. with astro, that’s impossible, and that’s as much because of aroha’s acceptance and love as it is the comfort to be found in our six shining stars. this is the first fandom i found a home in, and too much of my heart is rooted in this family of idols and fans to ever fail to return. and there’s no pressure to stay; i can leave and come running back with a different sideblog full of different content and no one will care, other than to be happy i’m back. that comfort is irreplaceable, and so difficult to find, and i know we all treasure this community, but it never hurts to say it again: this group, this family, is wonderful and loving and kind and home, and i’ve always come back for those reasons, just as much as i have for our boys, for our stars.

10 reasons why Thugs of Hindostan failed

This is not a film review. This is a critique of all the unwarranted criticism Thugs has garnered, which has been so extreme that part of me wonders if it’s all somewhat premeditated. But conspiracy theories aside, nothing evokes such vitriolic more than challenging the Indian people’s implicit prejudices. Which ones? Well, where do I even start. Here are just the top 10 prejudices reasons why this perfectly acceptable movie is getting unacceptable levels of hate...

1. Because Indians are racists

How many Pirates of the Caribbean movies did they make again? And how many of them flopped at the Indian box office? I assure you, nobody was complaining about ‘illogical’ stuff in those movies. Why, because those movies were made by white and not brown people? Mind you the same junta will go watch Guy Ritchie’s Robin Hood this weekend and come out all praise for its fantastical, logic-defying action sequences. But since he’s a gora, well.. as Khudabaksh Jahazi says – “Ek Hindustani ka sabse bada dushman ek Hindustani hi hota hai.”

2. Because Indians are sexists

There are two female protagonists in the movie. And needless to say that is just two too many for the patriarchal junta of India. How dare they have a female character who is not a damsel in distress, but instead is a terrific archer and kicks total ass?!? To top that, how dare they have the other one be a prostitute with clear agency over her body, a rebellious mind of her own, and wield actual power over her male patrons? Nope, that’s just too much for desi pricks to handle, isn’t it? Also, given Aamir’s very vocal support of the #MeToo movement in India, I won’t be surprised if the social media attack on the movie was an orchestrated effort to hurt him for it.

3. Because Indians are ageists

This is a country that clearly still idolizes youth and still hasn’t seen life expectancy go up like in the developed world. So how ridiculous to have a septuagenarian play one of the leading heroes, isn’t it?!? How utterly unbelievable to have said man look his exact age too, maybe even older. Mind you this is the country that happily sits through heavy-duty special effects just to have Rajni in a movie look half his age, because who the hell would ever come to theaters to watch Rajni the way he truly looks like now?

4. Because Indians are casteists

I hadn’t thought of this myself until an article in the Indian Express pointed it out. Firangi Malhar – Aamir’s character is clearly what one would call a ‘low-born’ hailing from an oppressed social and economic background. But that simply won’t do, will it? Did the movie makers really expect Indians to root for a… a Dalit? How dare they force us to confront our deep-rooted casteist prejudices like that, when all we want to do is enjoy a movie on a long weekend?

5. Because Indians are religious bigots

And let’s not forget the other sacrilegious decision the movie makers now live to regret… to have three out of the four main protagonists be Muslim?! Oh my God. Literally. Keep in mind who this country voted into power five years ago and probably will again next year – a Hindu fundamentalist wannabe-dictator with a track record of supporting communalist elements in his own party. Here’s what’s funnier but also sad: the villains are more secular than the audiences of this movie. The British are actually celebrating Dussehra, and even if it’s nothing more than cultural appropriation, it’s still more religiously tolerant than Indians these days.

6. Because Indians are self-righteous hypocrites

The self-righteousness dripping from some of the reviews I read online is both laughable and infuriating. What about the word “Thugs” did these apparently literate guys not understand? Protagonists can be regular people too you know, and regular people are not perfect. The heroes in this story aren’t trying to be heroes, nor do they claim to want anything more than their very deeply personal objectives – revenge, resolving internalized guilt etc. In fact, the only person who ends up risking everything without any personal agenda, is Suraiyya Jaan. But does the desi audience appreciate the multidimensional complexities of these very human characters? Noooo. In a period movie set during the colonial era, desi heroes better be a sati savitri, or sata savitra, or they might as well be villains.

7. Because Indians are stereotypers

So if the Indian audience is to be believed, stereotyping morons that they are, Aamir Khan should only do movies with a social message in them and nothing else. He’s an actor for god’s sake, why can’t he just do a movie for the sheer entertainment value of it? He has repeatedly said so in his interviews, to the very same media people who now completely choose to ignore his pleas to just let him be an artist. The fact that he is socially responsible is a huge bonus that we should all be bloody grateful for, not use it to put him in a box that restricts his creative instincts. (And if some of you are now arguing that I’m doing the same thing, stereotyping all Indians as the same, well I’m sorry. I know I’m doing it, but at least now you know how it feels.)

8. Because Indians are ungrateful

How quickly everyone seems to have forgotten the immense contributions Aamir and Mr. Bachchan have made to Bollywood. And this isn’t unique to the film industry. Indians are just as ungrateful to their sports idols, refusing to acknowledge that sportspeople, like actors, are only human. Everyone is bound to have bad days. So what if Yuvi doesn’t perform today, why let it erase the memory of the six sixes he hit in Durban ten years ago? How is it okay to insult and deride this man who is trying his best? It’s especially hurtful when it happens to Aamir because he’s been incredibly selfless in his attempts to improve quality of life in India. Sadly, Aamir, this society does not appreciate, let alone be grateful for, your activism, or your artistry.

9. Because Indians are group-thinking morons

I don’t know if this is particularly true for desis or just a human trait in general. But it’s particularly hilarious to see it play out on social media. The lack of individual thought is sorely evident in all the reviews and trolls I read online. Also, newsflash, if all you do is retweet, reblog, and forward, you might as well be a mindless bot spreading fake news but adding no value to the discourse whatsoever. If you have a contrarian opinion (like maybe you actually liked the movie) but are too afraid to share it, why have a social media page at all? And for God’s sake, if you never saw the movie, shut the fuck up.

10. Because Indians are trolls

Years of repression is likely responsible for this surge in social media trolling in India, but come on, you can only understand and excuse this behavior for so long. These trolls seem to have taken special interest in bringing down our biggest heroes and mind you, Aamir truly is a hero in real life – the kind we sorely need. And yet, for the very same reasons, he seems to have a target on his back, especially on the internet where cowards attack him while hiding behind anonymity. No matter what their agenda (jealousy, SRK stans, an episode of SMJ hit too close to home), they seem intent on holding Aamir personally responsible for shortcomings of the movie. I’ll admit Thugs isn’t perfect but none of its faults are the actors’ fault. Either way, I don’t think they’re doing it mindlessly. Like I said before, I strongly suspect an orchestrated conspiracy to bring the movie down. Why? Well, take your pick. Aamir has definitely pissed off a lot of people who want to keep the status quo.

It’s really sad and honestly embarrassing as fuck at the infighting within a group. Watching this unfold you can see how much it was never about loving wayv as a group but seriously just loving one member. Some of these “fans” need to stop lying to themselves that you care about what happens to the group and that sm needs to think about the others. Not it’s more of a you just care about what happens to your favorite who may not have been getting that attention.

I have a lot running through my head but let me just say this. They don’t realize and I wish solo stans understand that just because your favorites sell more albums does not mean they are the most popular. No lie I’m looking at the “top” two members right now who’s stans keep bringing up numbers. It just means your fandom/people might have more money access than everyone else lol like I don’t care but that’s the damn truth. I have a favorite member but I can’t afford to buy albums because I have bills to pay and I need food on my table lol and I’m not knocking people who buy those precious albums or spend their money. I’m knocking on this idea that “we can buy more and spend more therefore we are the most popular” idea. It’s like just because you’re the loudest doesn’t mean you’re the smartest or correct!!!

And because you are a fan of member x doesn’t mean you have join the fanbar/fan clubs. (If I’m not wrong cause when I reading about these fanbase changing names cause of the regulations… a lot of them buy from fanbars because of the location of where they live and how shipping and delivery is very difficult so buying from fanbars make it easier for them to get an album.) Not everyone joins or has money to donate to some of these (ridiculous) projects. Also let’s not also forget that some people buying albums from these places are buying multiples just to get those photocards. Mass buying like that shows you have more money to spend lol And when people measure the amount of money that was spent on these video fansigns to reiterate that their fav is more popular with more selling power… it shows the exact same thing. It’s all about money. I would love to talk to my favorite member in a video chat but that costs thousands and I don’t have thousands of dollars to spend so freely lol It’s funny and also incredibly sad and frustrating when you point it out to some of these solo stans they get so defensive that numbers speak louder than everything else.

Oh and I love seeing the complaints that sm just sees them as a dollar sign and how to get money because that is all sm care about. These solo stans are so dumb because you’re treating them the same freaking way! They don’t realize that when they claim that their favorite or this or that fanbar sold more they see them as just a dollar sign too. They subconsciously (?) look at them the exact same way the company does… that they are valuable because they make the more money. Like they may make you that money within the fandom but that doesn’t equate to making money or getting that attention and recognition outside of the fandom. Common sense be out that door I don’t know how some of them survive outside of fandom universe.

I’m sorta new to the nct world… got into them cause of nct 2020 but even seeing the other units fighting too lately about selling power and my unit sold more or my favorite member sold more than yours or we have less versions of yours but sold more… people need to stop. How does it come across to other fandoms when the people within a fandom can’t even get along or have a discussion without yelling and insulting each other?! Combining with another obnoxious fandom who are loud about their own (manipulative) selling power why can’t y’all just stfu, listen to the music, smile when they look nice and watch them perform?!

The worst enemies are the people who are right next to you. 😒

solo stans tend to act like that from what i've seen, doesn't really matter the group lol. i never understood how/why solo stans act so ignorant (if that's the right word). obviously not all solo stans act like this, but a lot do.

i agree with you on the whole money thing. i always look more towards the general public than fandoms in these types of things. not even just solos, but as a group, if i wanna know how popular they are i'm looking at the general public not whatever their fandom contributed to (this includes streams/views).

it's one of the reasons why i believe a lot of idols wouldn't make it super big as a soloist without their fandom.

but i guess there is a reason why fandom power is such a big thing 🤷‍♀️

honestly, i'm jealous at how much these fans can spend on their faves. i wish i could do that lol. but they make up for those like us who can't afford it.

honestly, i became an nctzen in 2017 (i was pretty new to kpop also), but became a casual fan a year later because i couldn't stand the fandom at the time. after stanning multiple groups during this time, i didn't become a nctzen again (more so a wayzenni tho) until i experienced more fandom behavior and just decided to stay away from it and support them on my own how i want to. i'll call myself a fan, but i don't exactly participate in fandom culture like how others do. i'm here for the music and the group. i honestly don't care about awards and views and just the competition in general. i'm just here to have a good time 😭

10 reasons to stan The Rose

I can’t be the only one that’s been completely obsessed and mesmerized by The Rose since the day they debuted with “Sorry”. Such a strong debut! Since then, I can’t get enough of them and decided to be the one to make content about them since there isn’t much at the moment considering they’ve only debuted in august of this year.

Let’s start with some basic info about the band! They’ve debuted on august 3rd under J&Star entertainment as a rock band consisting of 4 members : Woosung, Dojoon, Hajoon and Jaehyeong. Woosung once said that their group name “The Rose” is named this way “to show that there’s music that coexist between the flower and the sharpness of the torns” (How poetic is that, 11/10 would already stan at this point). If you are like me, which is a complet trash about The Rose, well well wel,l you can call yourself Black Rose as it stands for the fandom name!

I’ve never seen anything like that and I find it so clever and original! On their wrists or on their mic, they never forget to attach a rose to show their love and respect for their fandom during performences. It’s not much, but this simple and sweet habit can genuinely make a fandom proud and loved. My lovely The Rose, We don’t deserve your love.

They even have their own “colors of roses” for each members. Wousung is a white rose, which signifies purety (I’m sorry I have so much unpure thought about him while he claims to be pure I don’t deserve to stan). Dojoon is red for passion. Hajoon is blue to express miracle and Jaehyeong is pink for romance ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) hehehehe yes dear.

4- They can speak english

International fans! You can stan them without hesitating! They talk in english a whole lot on their vlive and such, you won’t miss out on any inside jokes, cute comments or info! How cool is that?! Woosug used to live in the US and Dojoon lived in New-Zealand for 5 years! Jaehyeong is also making a lot of effort by talking in his cute engrish and Hajoon is as well. They even have english name: Woosung is Sammy, Dojoon is Leo, Hajoon is Dylan and Jaehyeong is Jeff.

5- Their friendship with other idols

I was so surprised when I watched a vlive of The Rose and Woosung got a call from Jae of Day6 to ask them to sing their fav Day6 song, but I should’ve known since a lot of idols that lived in the US became friends in Korea. They are close to Day6, KARD and Hajoon is friend with Chahun and Jaehyun from N.Flying (Expect a post about them soon btw). Woosung is also close with Coco from CocoSri, we can often see them together in her vlogs on her YouTube chanel and I low-key ship them hard lol.

7- Jaehyeong ideal type is realistic

I’m kind of fed up with idols always describing their ideal type as a cute and skinny girl with big round eyes and a sweet and calm personality. I know it’s cultural and I shouldn’t judge, I know. But when idols differ from the usual ideal type, it makes me really happy as a women.

Jae describes his ideal type as someone who stares a lot at him (lol hi) from afar and with a lot of cheek fat! He also wants someone that he can talk freely to about anything and understanding. How chill! I stan and ult the right men.

8- Dojoon voice in “like we used to”

I get goosepumps EVERY FKG TIME. It’s just… so… wow? I don’t now what to say more? I’m sure people who listened to it can understand. It’s like magic mixed with more magic and really can’t describe it. Make sure to watch the MV and cry like I did.

9- Incredible acting skills lol

I legit broke down crying and my lungs were rolling on the floor when Jaehyeong told us about what happen in an enterview with pops in seoul. Hajoon, Dojoon and Jaehyeong all appeared in a drama called “entertainer”, it was bigs roles, but still it could at least give them some screen time and exposure. WHAT IS FUNNY is that the one and only line of Jae was cut out of the drama and he’s still self-conscious about it. Like in the enterview, the guys made him say his line THAT WAS LIKE 3 WORDS LONG and after he said it, all members were poker faced and Jae said: “Thats why it was cut out lol”.

CALL OUT POST TO BIGHIT AND ARMY

I’ll mainly be focusing on the excuses that people love to bring up, and then some.

Here I go:

Excuse 001: The Visual

It’s cultural relativism when Jin gets called “fat/pig”, both by BigHit and workers, and by “fans” as a form of “enderment”, even though he’s time and time shown that he gets hurt by these things. But everyone was hellbent on trashing him when he called Jimin “fat” in a DISSING GAME; even after he apologised. Seokjin is not someone who’s fully confident in his visuals. The way he stood in his predebut photos clearly shows someone who LACKED confidence. Again, ARMY can catch a glimpse of this insecurity in Jin’s last solo VLIVE about his choppy bangs and dieting, even after all these years. Being marketed by BigHit as a “visual” does not mean that Seokjin feels this way about himself.

I understand that Jin was not vocally-strong, thus is promoted as a visual and did not get many lines during the early stages of BTS. Fine. The least BigHit could have done was actually promote him as a VISUAL during debut. Which they barely did. Not on variety shows, not on dramas, not on solo work, not in their own MVs, not on their own products. If Jin is to be promoted as a VISUAL, then AT LEAST give him screentime. SOMETHING a “visual” should get. If beauty is SO big in Korea, then why is BigHit not promoting it/him (a la centre/face)? Never have I seen a company, through my 12+ years in kpop, not promote their visual, EVER. Secondly, it’s completely unprofessional to go through their OWN products, and NOT realise that a MEMBER is cut out/missing (in addition to the two prominent examples floating around, there’s another official photobook where his whole being is covered by Jungkook; you can only make out his leg).

Excuse 002: The Vocal

Seokjin’s vocals have been up for debate, and I understand that. As I mentioned before, his lack of lines in the early stages of BTS is understandable. BUT he’s a VOCAL. He’s not a part of a dance team, he’s not a part of a band, and he’s not a part of an acting troupe. He’s a part of an idol group where HE IS A VOCAL. If he was a part of any of the aforementioned groups and didn’t get to sing, then that’s understandable. The lack of lines, as a vocal, in an idol group…IS NOT. He has proven multiple times that he can hold his own to the rest of the members, and has improved immensely. He’s proven multple times that he’s often the MOST STABLE in their lives WHILE dancing just as hard as the rest of the members (don’t give me bullshit about how much harder dance-line dances. They follow a choreagraphy. And if they can’t sing and dance at the same time, then they must realise that they need to alter their own performance to mitigate that problem). Ballads? BTS’ discography has multiple ballads and slow-tempo songs: Spring Day, Butterfly, Hold Me Tight, et cetera, to name a few. Yet, once again, he GETS THE LEAST NUMBER OF LINES. So I don’t understand why some fans and BigHit’s producers claim that Seokjin’s voice is only suited for ballads yet not give him more lines. ANOTHER THING. BigHit’s producers are garbage. If someone is paid to produce music for artists, then they should be qualified to create music that suits their consumers (BTS/who ever buys and uses their music). Producers are working FOR artists. It doesn’t matter if his voice doesn’t “match” the style of the song. That’s bullshit and shows how “good” (read: bad) BigHit’s producers actually are. If BigHit’s producers produced music FOR their artists, Seokjin’s voice will fit the style.

If y'all want to play, then let me focus on Spring Day LIVE specifically. In this song, Seokjin had the most lines live, and has clearly shown that he can handle the dancing and the singing. So why is that his voice is NOT the majority in the audio file??? Why ONLY live? The general public (GP) don’t care for MVs and lives. Fans do. When the GP listen to the audio, the belief of Seokjin as someone who is lacking in vocals/untalented/only the “face” continues to be promoted (indrectly) by BigHit. This impacts his popularity, and definitely his self-worth in the team (listen to “Awake” you blind troglodytes).

Excuse 003: The Hyung

In relation to self-worth, and self-esteem, this brings us to another point. There’s the belief that because Seokjin is the oldest, and that he is a grown man, he doesn’t need help and/or that he doesn’t get affected by what BigHit and ARMY does and say. Yes, he’s a grown man but he’s also a grown man bound by a contract. Many people are mentioning how he should speak up about these ongoing issues, yet they are blind to the fact that (legally) he may not have the right to speak up and/or leave. Additionally (mentioned by Jimin), Seokjin is someone who keeps his feelings to himself . He also doesn’t show his displeasure (also mentioned by himself and other members). The lack of response and interest for, and the lack of experience. opportunity, and knowledge acquired by, Seokjin also impacts how he sees himself as a contributing member in BTS, thus affecting his willingness to speak up for himself. He possibly CAN’T and WON’T (for many reasons) speak up. This is why it is important for fans to speak up about BigHit’s problems.

Excuse 004: The Being

Moving on, I’ll focus on the health of Seokjin and BTS. It is understandable that many fans worry about the health of BTS. A lot of fans don’t want BTS to overwork and stress themselves out. That is why we don’t want them to overwork. That is why we don’t want them to go on extreme diets. That is why we seek feedback from BigHit in regards to their health status; to make sure their healthy physically, emotionally, and mentally. That is why the debatability of Seokjin’s injury is laughable. In photos and fancams of the event, Jin has shown discomfort and signs of pain in his neck. Fans were clearly worried about him. Yet BigHit did not even try to explain the situation to fans; to either refute or give some sort of relief to them. The lack of feedback from BigHit is disrespectful to fans. The only feedback, thus far, ARMY has received about Seokjin is by the other members (sparingly) and by Seokjin himself. BigHit is oh so willing to provide feedback about everyone else but him. BigHit has been doing this for a LONG time. They continue to ignore what a lot (albeit, a minority) of Jin fans say.

Furthermore, although we worry about BTS’ health. It is important to understand that the shelf-life of idols is VERY SHORT. Many idols (including BTS?) have alluded to/mentioned the fact that they would rather, willingly overwork themselves than to get no work, because IT IS their livelihood. Their personal popularity is just as, if not more, important than the group popularity. Their own popularity is what gets them work and opportunities. WORK = MONEY

Excuse 005: The Divergence and The Finale

Every single CB has been beyond frustrating. I don’t mind people having biases, that’s completely normal. But to turn a blind eye to a BLATANT problem. That’s just sad. Seokjin’s popularity and well-being is being affected by it. When Jin stans bring up this ongoing problem with BigHit, they’re labelled as antis, troublemakers, and not true ARMY. We’re always being told to just support and love him and BTS, and show more appreciation. We DO that. Many Jin stans have been doing that for YEARS. We’re done shutting up. Stop trying to shut us up. The lack of interest and outright ignorance displayed by ARMY is appalling. This clearly shows how much some fans actually care for BTS, as a whole. This kind of behaviour from some fans continue to escalate the discrepancy in popularity between members and promotes competition. It is THIS imbalance in popularity between members that BigHit sees. They’re a company. They see this lack of response and interest in him (an issue BigHit created by themselves, and a problem that ARMYs propagate) that results in Seokjin’s: reduced presence in their music, reduced presence in their products, and reduced popularity amongst fans (new and old). This is just an ongoing cycle that BigHit and ARMY has created themselves/ourselves.

Don’t try to bring in the problems of other members or other groups (i.e. “this member got hate for ABC, this member got laughed at for XYZ”). Stop derailing the argument. That’s a logical fallacy I don’t have time to deal with. This isn’t about them. This is about the MISTREATMENT of Seokjin, by BigHit and by ARMY.

Remember children, at the end of the day BTS is a product. NOT a family, to BigHit. BTS, however, is a “family”, and source of happiness to many fans. So tell me why members would upset about what Jin stans are doing? Because members won’t get as many lines? Because Jin stans will upset the other members? Because Jin stans are hurting BigHit? Because Jin stans are creating a rift between fans? OR is it because “fans” can’t even show decent respect for Jin stans and Jin? Are they, and fans not a “family”? Family protect and love family. BTS has shown time and time again how much they love and support Seokjin in his endeavors, and how much they want his voice and input in the art they produce. To see “fans” discourage Jin and his fans is disheartening and disappointing.

BigHit AND ARMY needs to recognize that there’s a problem. This may be difficult for a lot of ARMYs to understand. But if you replace the position Seokjin is in with your fave, how do you feel? Try to be respectful and show some empathy.

We’re consumers of BTS and BigHit. We have a say in what we consume, and the right to critique BigHit and BTS. That does NOT make someone’s argument invalid or someone a hater. Criticism is NOT hate. Criticism promotes change and growth. That shows maturity, and respect for BTS as artists, and as grown capable men.

TLDR: LOVE and SUPPORT KIM SEOK JIN. LOVE BTS. We’re not hating. Stop being so transparent and open your goddamn eyes.

I don’t want this to get lost. I don’t care about the notes. I just want people to understand.

It's so cute and I know you're busy squealing at his cuteness and laughing till it hurts at BamBam, but really listen to them -Cause Mark and BamBam have the fucking vocals -While we're on the subject of vocals, JB's voice is so strong and soulful -Like you can tell that man listens to Musiq Soulchild because his voice carries alot of R&B traits -Youngjae made me think of Elliot Yamin the first time I heard his voice and then I find out he likes Elliot Yamin -Not saying they sound like them, but the music you listen to impacts how your voice sounds. Episode #1 & 2: "so that was fun, and by fun I mean hell" - Ahrre

So I'm so confused right now lol. Like I feel like discord should have a similar format to skype, but maybe I'm just dumb and cant figure it out. Also the only people I know/heard of are on the other tribe which is fun. Hopefully I can set myself up so my lack of understanding Discord doesn't make me look like a liability to the rest of my tribe.

Oh wow, hi it’s me, Mo. I’m going into this game with an advantage of not having a social life so I can be more active. I like my tribe so far everyone’s really nice. I only know Fabricio because he won the game I got PoTS on. But I think I’m going to withhold that information of him winning his last game because I kinda wanna be allies.

First impressions of my tribe, they’re pretty cute I guess I like people well enough but I’m always nervous about pre existing relationships people may have in other communities so that’ll be fun to manoeuvre around my plan is just to lay low be social and hopefully not stick out as a target

Man, I'm back with Tobi from Survivor Ko Chang and that scares me to death. He claims he wants to start on a clean slate with me and work together again, but I don't trust him one bit and the first opportunity I have to take him out, I'm gonna do it, cuz I can't have somebody like him around. Bad for my game.

On the other hand of the spectrum, I know Michael from Zwooper and we've always had a good relationship so I think that's one person I can fully align with right out of the gate. I've also worked up some social connections with Dani, Jose and Ahrre so far, and they all seem pretty chill for the most part.

Right now, my focus is to win. I'm gonna go hard in this first immunity challenge and rack up as many points as I can. Losing the first challenge always sucks and I wanna make sure that doesn't happen for me again.

Okay im like mad excited to play this game. One Ive been kinda down, and this should help me be able to invest my time into something and potentially help me feel better.

Seeing this cast. I love it. I have really only worked with Felix in a past org before but we havent talked in ages. So I dont have any past connections which feels great because I hate people assuming were working together because were friends?. So this wont happen this season which is great.

So far my tribe is okay. Havent had a chance to speak alot to everyone yet. However the people I have done are alright. So far my favorite person is Scott or Scooty Toots. Hes British as well as me, he's 18 and we're both starting University without a clue what were doing. Like twins?!? So hopefully he feels the same way about me too.

Alliances are key. I want to make a few smaller ones to form a majority for me. Like two allainces of three. Giving me 4 allies. Not sure if this will happen soon or not, but its my goal to take control of this game, as Ive never done it before. I dont want to come across as controling however so smaller groups is the way to do it in my head.

Omfg y'all...... The game started like maybe 16 hours ago and I have barely spoken to most of my tribe bc I was a lil busy last night & had some damage control to handle in EMVV but like..... ??? I already found the idol in the Play Room CTFUUUU. We fucking stan. I immediately told my son Scooty because he's my bae.... I haven't had my hands on an idol in an org since like...... 703 San Marcos when I was voted out w it in my pocket (i think?? i cant remember any others so..) so BEST BELIEVE I'm going to use this correctly. THAT IS MY MAIN MISSION. I'm craving that satisfaction of a successful idol play...... I would love to cross that off my imaginary org goals list..... BUT WHEW I'M PUMPED.

I am making a pact with myself to not be an overly annoying gamebot this season because I just wanna have fun with it and make it a chaotic season, and this lil buddy is gonna allow me to be as extra and messy and turbulent as I please <3 big dick energy

Helloo so here I am doing this org thingy so you're stuck with my thoughts of regret until I die, or you could just not read them that's also an option.

Anyhow god save the queen blabla after more time that it should've taken me I get that I'm in one of two tribes of 9 which is kinda good because with snaller tribes I feel lime everything is more claustrophobic and shit hits the wall the moment we lose a challenge. But with 9 players imo I feel more relaxed.

So summary of who am I stuck with, there are a few who I know from before so let's start with that.

First off Jose, already played an org with him and we were good allies so my first instinct was to call him a bastard and hey he took it well so hopefully it will be a smooth sailing with that lad.

But after Jose I don't expect the meta to be kind to me.

Michael and Mo were both in my last org and I blindsided them both. Tbh they were good allies until that point so I'm more than willing to work with them in this game, hopefully they feel the same way.

But anyhow then there's Felix who I think I technically played with? We meet during a merge and he went out early without us ever talking much so really this is gonna be my first time really playing with him, he's the only one that I haven't talked to yet though I hope he gets online.

Then there's Tobi. I've heard of him and from the get go he strike me as a very straight shoot-y player. Those are always interesting to play with so let's see how that goes.

There's Dani, she seems nice and compared to Tobi she seems more social instead of strategy focused but then again it's been one day and I'm talking out of my ass.

Then there's jaylen who seems nice aswell even if I haven't talked much to him.

And finally David the absolute unit, and I say that bc he instantly started focusing on the challenge, which is a breath of fresh air plus he's Canadian so what's not to like thus far.

Talking about the challenge I get anxiety by just looking at it, scavenger hunts are always hard for me bc I live with people and I want them to remain thinking I am a normal member of society so I always need to be sneaky to do this crap, plus I don't have a car or anything so I have to use public transport if I need to go anywhere.

Apart from that well I would like to set up a 5 man majority alliance just to be safe, my only fear is the ever so feared overplaying-doom. But I feel like someone like tobi would jump on that idea pretty easily so I'll have a chat with him about that idea.

Oh and also look at me I remembered to guess for the idol TWO times in a row. I could die this very same week doesn't matter that's already an improvement on my usual gameplay.

Hi since I’m required to do these once an episode, I’ll use this one to talk about my tribe and maybe a few on the other tribe that I saw were on.

Guacamole - They seem fun. I talked with them last night, but our convo went short because we played jack box together. They seem nice though.

Linus - Mix feelings. I can get a completely loyal Linus here, or a cutthroat linus, so I’m kinda wary right now towards him but the vibes I’m getting I don’t think he’s going to be an issue, atleast for now.

Madison/Madisin - She was also at the jackbox last night and I enjoyed her, she was dying laughing at the games and I thought she was funny. So hopefully I get a chance to talk to her today.

Malik - Who? Let’s not talk about that bitch.

Rhys - He literally waits until we’re in a game to talk to me, so I peep it. And you could say I should reach out to him but it’s annoying when I have and he doesn’t do it until we’re in a game together. Boggles the mind. If I can overcome doing that, so can you. But I enjoy our current coversation as of the moment.

Ryan - We just played Mount Olympus together recently and that was a bust for us both. I’m kind of hoping we can be on the same side since it’s been a while since that’s happened. However, Ryan says he just wants to have fun so I don’t fault him if he does crazy things down the road!!

Scooter - I don’t know about him yet. We haven’t talked at all but he seems interesting. Maybe I can give a better opinion when we talk.

Steven - Very hilarious and I’m also intrigued by him. His thinking and way of talking during the jackbox had me DYING I loved it. I think he’s my new favorite new person here so far.

Wes - I only saw him once but we haven’t talked yet so idk what to say. He said he’s from ndims and is an alias of someone, I just don’t know if I know the alias since I was on that site also. But hopefully it could be someone who knows me as Orlando.

Now for the people I know on the other tribe:

Ahrre - I cant stand him too much after our last season of JPORG. He has this self righteous attitude to him and I don’t like it. However, I warmed up to him a bit during the movie times we had been present for awhile back so hopefully if we see each other again, I won’t have that opinion anymore.

Big Tuna aka Danielle - YASSS I love ha! I know her from the Skype minis and she’s amazing. I hope I finally get to play with her for once in a non mini game ❤️

Felix - Felix is a fucking wildcard. I love him, but he has really pissed me off in games in the past, and I’m hoping this one won’t be like those other ones.

Jaylen - A mess but a friend! He plays how he wants and doesn’t care what people thinks or tweaking it to better it but that’s Jaylen for you! Accept it or don’t phew.

Jose - He’s a fucking snake at times LOL but he’s lovely. I wouldn’t mind too much of being on a tribe with him.

Oh wow!! I can't believe I haven't made a confessional yet what a shocker. BUT HI! I'm kind of just trying to get myself acquainted with everyone in the group, I'm not as active as I'd like to be :C but I'm trying my best teehee. On the first night or so Linus, Malik, Stephen, Madison and I played Jackbox games and it was SUPER LIT and We bonded over that and I'm v happy about thatttt. (ofc I already know madison and I already love her but I haven't talked to her in game yet aklsdjf) I just started talking with Scooty today, or Scooty? I might just call him Scooty, ANYWAY yeah we got to talk about how we type similarly and that was nice, we bonded over that and it was littY. I also got to talk to Rhys!! He also seems like a neat guy - I still haven't talked to him a lot but I think he's cool. I honestly don't know who else is on the tribe, Wes and Ryan right? Wes and I talked a little bit, but barely. and Ryan hasn't talked to me at all lmao. Hopefully right now I've made enough connections though. I'd like to make tribe swap so I can meet more people and make friends lololol - wish me luck gang!

I’m getting along with everyone really well so I know I won’t be the first fine at the very least so I just need to lay low laugh and Kiki with everyone and hopefully I can survive for the long term

I’m doing the Scavenger Hunt and knowing me I decided to wait till the last two hours to do everything I can. So now I have an hour and a half to film a bunch of videos

Okay so talking to my tribe Im begining to feel less at ease with them. Mostly because most of them hardly seem to talk. Which dosent bode well for me. Could mean im on the outs and they dont like me. Or that They're all inactive.

Madison seems like the easy boot right now just because like, who?!?. Shes not been around Ive messaged her once and she left me on read.

So Steven had to leave but we still have to do the challenge as if he was competing which PROBABLY means were going to tribal. So ive been working on getting an allaince going. Ive talked to Malik and Brought the Idea of us forming a trio with someone. Luckly he picked Linus because I talk to him aswell. So fingers crossed we can get that going.

I also have a great feeling from Scooty aka scott. So like Hopefully i can get another trio with him going aswell. So then I will be solid untiill a swap.

I do have a concern that Scott and Ryan are close and Malik and Linus are close. More so that I would be their second choice out of the trio if one is made. However thats not going to effect me I dont think this early. So fingers Crossed.

STEVEN QUIT which im rly sad for two reasons. one for him bc i know he wanted to do well and i hope hes doing ok and i geniunely wish the best for him and the other reason is selfish bc i literally.. planted my seeds on him already? like. all that work for nothin. and now we sitting here actin as if madison aint afk and aint gunna submit nothing..

I'm kinda bummed that this last challenge wasn't immunity anymore because we smoked the other tribe, LOL. But at the same time, I'm glad cuz I wouldn't wanna lose the challenge after one of my tribe members quit, that'd just be sad as fuck, LOL.

Also, I feel a good rapport developing further between Danielle and I. I feel like her and I can dominate this game together, but I can't get too ahead of myself here. The first couple of rounds are meant to create social bonds and I feel like I've done a good job of that thus far. Only person I haven't talked to is Jaylen and I'm okay with that, cuz if we lose the immunity challenge, he's most likely the first one to go.

Okay, thankgoodness that the challenge was changed to reward last minuet. Because we wouldve gone to tribal. Maddison is legit missing. I dont even care if we win or loose this next challenge because she needs to go.

So firstly that reward was weird like woo thanks pretty crown but there’s nothing else so I’m thinking that someone else has the clue and my best bet would be jaylen bc he got the Crown Jewels the most important piece. Overall I’m very nervous for this battleship challenge because in my mind it’s mostly luck based so my fate is really out of my hands.

The game is going okay I'm trying not to be aggressive talking to people, but just letting people come to me and make conversation right now honestly I'm trying to play UTR since I think considering madison doesn't exist right now I think I'm able to do that TBH. Hopefully it all works out.

I volunteered to do the battleship challenge thing because I have no life and it looked like no one else was gonna volunteer.

I actually know Linus he played with me in Epic SBB in Hell, so that's nice to not be going in with no connections period.

I’m for sure feeling a little bit more nervous now because a lot of this challenge is about being organised and teamwork and we could barely have someone sit out so fingers crossed

Heyo so we won the challenge so that was fun, and by fun I mean hell but hey we've got bragging rights, which is pretty much it since unfortunately Steven was medevaced out of da game so even though the other tribe lost they didn't go to tribal.

A bit annoying knowing you did that for nothing but oh well the other tribe seems to be having a rough time by itself with steven quitting and someone (Madison I think) not submitting anything lol

And I say for nothing bc technically we won reward but it was one of those first come first serve things and I only got seved a jpg image so nothing fancy there...

But at least now the next challenge is something where 8 out of 9 people on the tribe don't have to do anything and you bet your ass after that first challenge I'm gonna be one of the 8. David the unit took it upon himself to carry us to victory so godspeed lad.

However this challenge is pretty luck based so I'm saying fuck that I'm not talking my chances.

Following last confessional I talked to tobi about making an alliance and he was onboard, he proposed to have Jose on it which is great since that was my idea anyways, plus I told dani and she was also on board, and to finish up the hipotetical majority of 5 she said he was cool with Michael.

I haven't talked to him yet and Jose hasn't been online but hopefully we should be fine.

Ngl would like to have an alliance with david and felix too, david bc he seems like a total lad with the challenges and Felix because he later told me he felt the most confortable with me.

But regardless hopefully we won't even have to go to tribal (and if we do at least there are other options for the vote)

For now I shall be the dumb cheerleader of the bunch for a game of battleship.

Ahhh, I feel so bad that I lost the challenge for my tribe. I feel like going into a challenge with the weight of the win or loss stacked against you is huge. But I did come REALLY close and my tribe seems to respect that I almost got us the win. I don't think I'll go anywhere tomorrow for tribal, but you never know.

Yesss we won immunity. I’m happy we could after Steven left. They made our challenge a reward for that and we lost but it’s fine because WE WON immunity phew. And it’s all thanks to Wes. So far to me, Madison is looking the easiest vote off right now because I haven’t talked to her and I haven’t seen her so that’s my view on it. The three I talk to the most on my tribe are Rhys, Linus and Scoots. Then Ryan and Guacamole. Then Wes and finally Madison. I hope this game doesn’t pull a JPORG Fitzroy Island, I don’t wanna be screwed over by a random ass tribe swap. But I basically dig my tribe and hope that I won’t be the first to go.

It’s fucking gross having to go to tribal council and I can’t be dealing but I seem to have found myself in two alliances with only dani connecting the two so I’m gonna work with dani to ride this middle ground and make it further

I’m going home omfg. I can’t really have a deep convo with anyone, which means I don’t have an alliance even though I’m sure one has been made ugh. I’m gonna focus on surviving this round then seeing what I can get set up next round. Wish me luck whew

I’m pissed because it’s super obvious that the other 7 on my tribe are in a mega tight alliance. Steven was my only alliance in this hole game, and like, he even told me he found an idol and then on his way out he didn’t even slip me the idol??? Can’t wait to be voted out 7-1 because he wanted a souvenir.

So the tea is that ahrre and I made an alliance of 5 which includes him, me, Jose, Dani, and Michael which I think is cute but they are really boring so meh idk I’ll just flip during merge x JDJSJD I’m a messy bitch

Right so unfortunately we lost the battleship game so that means we're heading to the first tribal of the game, fun stuff.

Now as we lost I got the Me-michael-jose-dani-tobi alliance set up. Meanwhile Felix was telling me that for him it was between Jose or Jaylen, since they've been the least active. Understandable but more understandable is that I'm in an alliance with Jose so for me it seems like it's gonna be Jaylen, who I also haven't spoken much with so I don't mind, albeit every tribal we go to before swapping or merging I see it as a potential ally down the line going home, which shucks.

Either way the alliance (and everyone else for that matter) agreed on jaylen, I also told Jose in kind words to get his shit together before he gets sent home but that's pretty much it. I'm gonna try to lay down for now I don't want to bring any unwanted attention to myself.

Hopefully tribal goes well.

Oh wow hi it’s me, Mo. Ok so currently the plan is to vote out Jaylen which I don’t have a problem with, it’s kinda sad because he is actually really nice but somewhat inactive. I’m on my way to get a burger and fries and I’m fucking ecstatic like I’m so fucking hungry it’s stupid. Also watch me get blindsided.

So we went into this chalenge on a high after wining the reward and I was the one who got the most points out of everyone :))). Although I’m nervous this will put a target on my back, I’m happy that I have kind of proven my dominance in this game! After losing the challenge, I’m upset!! This was all luck based which sucks! After that, I started talking more with Felix, David, Michael and Ahree. Within the span of like 30 minutes, I got added to 2 seperate groups. I was like “iiii” because this can get messy fast. Michael is in both of the groups as well so I don’t feel too bad because at least there is someone else in my position as well. I get along with Felix a lot and have had quite a few good convos with him! David seems to want to lead things in the group he made, which is whatever. Keeps the target off of me, especially if we go to tribal again. I expect to make more confessionals throughout the course of the game, usually videos but I’m pretty tired right now haha.

I just took a nap and there's no tribal and I'm always trying my best. My tribe doesn't hate me for some reason even though I sure would. Oh well. I really miss Steven I hope he's okay.
