do you plan on rewriting the scp 963 article with dr. shaw? i know a lot of people say it's already not written the best, and i'm wondering if you'd give it some major rewrite or just sort of replace the character and leave it

the character dr. bright has been mentioned to be jewish, is dr. shaw as well? i'm not jewish personally but i know that, especially because he was such a well known character, a lot of jewish people (that i know at least) appreciated seeing that representation. ofc i understand that they're 2 separate characters so i don't expect them to be the same, but i'm curious because i've definitely seen mixed feelings on that aspect specifically

Hey hey! Dw about asking, I don’t feel forced to answer any of my asks and love talking to people!

Onto what you’re asking:

1. As of now there is an article being made! Unsure if it’ll replace the original’s slot at the moment. I’m sure you’re aware kaktus put me on board with the project, he proposed strong arming staff into the article getting the original slot but I have no updates as to how that’s going as of now. It is to note that I’ve lost contact with him since late April. None of our mutuals know what’s up with him either. I’ve both quintupletexted him and asked around;;

I’m making my own version of the proposed article, once he pops up again I’ll cross ref with him and probably ask for help with formatting because I suck at computer stuff.

2. Ethnically Shaw is Mexican, specifically Chicano-Indigenous. I’m latine myself and live in a community with a Mexican kind of majority (lossa Haitian people too, unsure which demographic is more prominent). A ton of family friends are from Mexico with indigenous roots and I only have two other Mexican characters so I have the advantage of being able to ask my pals from my former parish alongside my usual deep dive research. As for the Roma aspect of his character I’ve been doing research on both Caló and Chicano Romani peoples for him and his mother (https://www.tiktok.com/@florida.florian?_t=8eDhq1agf51&_r=1 here’s a link to my favorite mainstream Romani content creator. His informative videos have been of major help for writing them as well as Dr. Carina and their mom. He even has vids on how to write Romani characters!!)

I don’t have a religion for him or Ansel yet? His mom, Dr. Soraya Zugasti, however, is a Muslim convert and is actually hijabi, not presumed hijabi like Evelyn was. At the end of the day to my knowledge Judaism is an open religion with the exception of some ultra orthodox communities and Shaw is the kind of person to be pretty open minded when it comes to spirituality. Statistically, as Ansel and Soraya immigrated from Mexico, the country has a Christian/Catholic majority, especially in the time that they lived there. There’s always the possibility that Shaw could be a convert like how his mother converted to Islam from being mostly agnostic. I’d have to think more on it but it’s a good chance that I’ll write that in!

I also have more Jewish characters if that gives you and your friends reassurance! Most notably Carina’s wife Commander Jezebel Diamandis and her kids, Dick and Rachel, as well as one of Carina’s Uncles, Agent Hannemann Charles. I’ll have to draw em up soon but I’d like to think they’re pretty cool 😎

“Do you mind if your work gets seen by minors?” Is actually a question I’ve been asked a lot because I write and draw saucy works and the accountability has seemingly been shifted from legal guardians onto randoms like me. They say it takes a village to raise a child after all. This leads easily into the subjects of censorship, human sexuality, responsibility in the digital age, parasocial boundaries, society and individuality, proliferation of paywalls that rope off the internet and free flow of information… and so on. So many subjects, so little time, and yet so intersectional. I see it often, the ubiquitous “minors dni”, even on people’s pages that don’t have explicit material; I’m guessing it’s because people don’t want the headache, but any dni is as good as a line drawn in the sand, a magic circle where all your morals live, until the wind blows it away. Have you ever been asked “are you over the age of 18?” I pressed that button just the other day and just as easily as I had when I was a minor. “Do you mind if your work gets seen by minors?” is the question I’m asked, like my saucy work is a landmine for someone to accidentally step on and to which I can’t help but imagine a different question: “Do you mind if a minor seeks it out?”*

I’m not anyone’s parent and it is not my responsibility to take care of a stranger’s welfare. You have to understand that the internet is a grey place. I don’t know who’s looking. I’d rather not know.**

I tag my smut and label it with a 🔞 with the implicit meaning being don’t look at things you’re not supposed to be looking at. I won’t ever know for certain if a minor looked, pressing the proverbial “yes I’m over the age of 18”, unless that minor was a fool and broadcasted their vulnerability to the world at large, interacting with my unsafe works knowing that their profile reflected that same perceived lack of impulse control. Goodness, if they were smart, they’d be liars.

Even so, I was young once; I lived like the puritanical ideal while also having seen society’s forbidden knowledge [sex things, oh my!]. No matter how well someone hides the cookies, someone will always climb the fridge to get them, and if I had fallen off the fridge, no one should blame the baker. And no one should tell the baker that they should stop baking, especially in their own bakery.

We exist in a moment in time when even payment processors have a say in what kind of content is distributed and how that affects art as a whole, eating into adult spaces [recently the Gumroad nsfw policy leaving nsfw artists reeling] and especially encrouching on queer spaces. Imagine the amount of chargebacks various nsfw gets because sex is so vilified in society that people have to panic when caught oh I'm really not into big anime boobs dw, oh i didnt actually commission this nsfw artist and waste 20 hours of their precious time and labour, oh i need my money back because...; I’m sure the money system abhors it for a money reason, but the root of it is the proliferation of Protect the Children™ used by puritanical opportunists. You the individual affect the wider culture as a whole through the groups you belong to, even if you don't intend to.

I’m asking for people to be smart, to think of their own well-being, but to also think of where they draw the line. Filter the word “smut” and “nsft” and "suggestive" and you should be safe on my page even though the sauce is rare in my Tumblr. This goes for everyone this applies to and not just minors.

If you were to give crests to Zoey and J.P from the og which would you pick and why

Thank Heavens you haven’t asked me about the whole Frontier group because I wouldn’t have been able to write a single word. Maybe I would have said both Takuya and Tomoki would share the Courage Crest, and ,honestly, I won’t hide I’m kinda in the same situation now, because Junpei and Izumi seem so perfect for the same crests as well.

I’d give them a mix of Friendship and Sincerity, because their arcs are two sides of the same coin and also deal with them starting to be more sincere to themselves, more genuine. They have got opposite yet complementary issues about friendship, so that crest spontaneously came up in my mind. However, let’s also talk about the fact their problems were lingering because they derived from a stagnant state in which they stubbornly refused to change or, as far as concerns Junpei, refused to accept they needed to change, pretend there was no need to.

In my opinion, Junpei could also be perfect for Love. No guys, not Knowledge. Junpei is a bad student. He might be kinda wise sometimes and have an academic knowledge, but the very first drama states he becomes a maths genius when he fuses with Bolgmon. Returning to the Love Crest…Yeah. I’m not saying it only because of his crush and devotion for Izumi, but also because this kid really didn’t know what bonding with people truly meant. He couldn’t really open his eyes in front of the fact friendship is one of the many shapes of love. Friendship led by shallow intentions and pursued with, again, shallow methods is nothing without love, which is what Junpei lacked at the beginning of his journey. I’d say Junpei’s path to discovering friendship is something that’s much deeper than what it is for Izumi. Izumi mostly discovers herself and her flaws through her development in DW; Junpei discovers what creating bonds with people, bonds of any nature, is like.

Still, I guess a Love Crest would be interesting for an older Junpei embracing unconditional love tbh. I can personally see him as that kind of person when he’s grown up but don’t mind me🤣💕.

I’l stand with them being a mix of Sincerity and Friendship, yes, -which is hilarious when it comes to the Sincerity side, since both Izumi and Junpei have got a lot of Mimi in their personality-.

Turbo F.A.S.T. is old news for most, and regardless of how good you believe the show to be, you have to admit that compared to other Dreamworks’ animated shows it has held up the better visually. (Compared to other shows made by Dreamworks based on their movies)

Despite being a show that does feature a very minor amount of dated references, like memes that I don’t think were even still popular by the time it had aired (does anyone else remember when Turbo said pwned? Or the All your base are belong to us reference?? Yeah) or technology shown to be used by characters (like, flip-phones appear a few times in the series as the Main phone stand-in and you can tell when the first modern iPhones were starting to release because they started using it as the “catch all” for phones being used)

you could very easily tell me that this show was released in the past year or so instead of 11 years ago and I’d believe you!

The animation is absolutely gorgeous (as all titmouse productions tend to be) and I highly believe the reason for its timelessness is because it is a 2D animation and not a 3D one like most Dreamworks shows are.

Like, perhaps my second biggest childhood show, All Hail King Julien, was also released in the year 2014 by dreamworks, and went alongside F.A.S.T.’s lifespan. It is a 3D animated show and while it isn’t bad… I can definitely tell it was released over a decade ago. (Which, is made 100x clearer when watching even older shows, like the penguins of Madagascar cartoon. I watched pretty much every Dreamworks cartoon as a child and tried going back to watching others than Turbo and. Hmmm. It was definitely an experience.)

The only other Dreamworks cartoon in my knowledge that I remember watching as a child and being able to go back and watch and think “this looks like it could’ve released today!” Is the Home series. Which, is also a 2D animated show…

Don’t even know what this post is for, really. I guess it’s just me saying I’d love for more 2D animated DW shows. I haven’t really checked on their “updated roster” of shows or movies as Turbo is kind of my main flick… (as well as I always check out any new titmouse projects) but if there’s any newer ones you should lend me the names! Retrieval Units

Decided I’d put some basic info about how to make a Repo Rick or a Repo Morty, in case you want to make your own. My Rick isn’t the only one in existence, and they don’t all look like him.

Repos can look like any kind of Rick or Morty, but once they’re arrested and transformed into retrieval units, they lose:

-universe codes. Repos don’t get their own, their codes lead back to the Citadel only.

-memories. all retrieval units are given Average Rick and Morty memories and are stripped of their individuality or what makes them unique, other than superficial things like appearance. their original memories are stored in the REPO-Unit head office storage and numbered with their original universe codes.

-mortality. retrieval units are mandatory* injected with an immortality serum because they aren’t given access to cloning. it’s cheaper to just inject the serum into them. the serum causes their bodies to rebuild themselves up to the point of when they were injected, so any bruises or broken bones received BEFORE the injection will remain. Depending on the damage, Repo Units may experience delays in how fast they return. A missing limb may take several minutes, whereas their entire body being blown up may take several hours to days. And they feel all of it. This also makes any severe damage to organs reversible. (Immortality is a lot like the one in the Whirly Dirly episode)

*= Mortys and Ricks can miss injections for whatever reason, usually without their knowledge.

-Ricks are intellectually castrated, meaning they know they should be able to invent things and be massively intelligent, but instead find themselves unable to do more than basic math, leading to panic attacks, breakdowns and bouts of absolute chaotic meltdowns. Mortys are emotionally castrated, they can still feel fear and want to self-preserve, but they aren’t brought down by their PTSD and don’t experience as much hesitation when it comes to gunning down civilians or capturing targets. The Citadel did this also because they knew it meant that the Mortys and Ricks would make better teams, be more malleable, but also because they knew the partnership would fight more often. They were turned into tools to be used.

-rights! they don’t have basic rights that Ricks and Mortys are often given anywhere. Also they tend to get beaten into submission and have their spirits broken severely, so there’s that.

Repo units do not have access to portal guns--instead they get wrist-teleporters, aka vortex manipulators like jack harkness in DW. they feel disgusting to use and after being teleported, you often feel like you’re gonna be carsick or bloated or both. They sometimes singe their user upon teleporting. Advised not to touch metal until 10 minutes after ‘porting.

The collars around their necks contain atomized black holes which upon being removed, without express Council or President permission, suck their wearer inside of themselves until they are marble-ized inside of their own self-contained black hole. They must be retrieved if they aren’t automatically sent back to the Citadel, or whoever owns the Repo Unit. (Yes, sometimes Repo Units are sold off to other Ricks, usually extremely rich ones.)

They do have a uniform, but it’s not mandatory. Ricks often choose to wear whatever they want as long as they wear the Citadel badge and their wrist-teleporters. They can’t remove the collar, so it comes too. (The collar operates under cartoon logic, so they can wear pretty much anything but the collar will always appear over the neck portion.)

REPOs are not respected by Ricks, seen as the lowest of the low. It’s common knowledge that they did something to earn being turned into a retrieval unit rather than just killed or imprisoned, and that alone makes them disgusting. Most REPOs will never find out what it is they did, so go nuts with backstories.

I try to! Sometimes I get busy or depressed or sick, etc., and I fall behind, but I try to respond, for a number of reasons - they give me so much joy that I want to acknowledge that they have brought my joy; it is so wonderful to see what people to respond to and love and laugh at and cry over, it definitely makes me a better writer, and so I want to acknowledge that, too; and comments when I’m in the middle of posting a fic are especially helpful to me because they often result in me tweaking what’s coming next in response to questions I see people have that indicate I’m not being clear enough, or maybe I’m not hitting the tone I want, etc. And so I like to respond to be like, “Thank you! You have no idea how important and wonderful this is to me!”

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Oh, wow. While I actually think I can write good angst, when I do it I try to have it in the middle of the fic, so that it gets properly resolved to give you a nice, happy ending. I’m sure someone’s going to be like, YOU ARE FORGETTING THIS HEART-WRENCHING THING YOU WROTE, but all I’m coming up with right now is that, in my long Doctor Who ‘verse I wrote, I did a fic in which their family dog died. That was pretty angsty. (omg I just scrolled down to see how I ended this story and OH MY GOD ahahah I forgot that I wrote this after I’d broken up with the Tenth Doctor and so it ends with Brem being like, “Plus, my father is useless so I have to hold the entire family together all the time” hahahaha what an extra-angsty ending, Brem, my love lol)

7. Do you write crossovers? If so what’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I do sometimes! I feel like most of my crossovers make some amount of sense. Like, okay, maybe you wouldn’t think to cross Inception with Fall Out Boy (this was a special request) but I think the premise of the fic makes total sense. And I once crossed Oliver with Brem, but those were my first two beloved precocious fic songs, so that made some sense, too. And I still think Inception and Sherlock crossed together made SO much more sense than actual seasons of Sherlock lol. So I guess if I had to choose the craziest I would go with the Doctor Who/Gossip Girl crossover I wrote lol. But wait, that one actually also made sense as I wrote it, I think, so I’ll go with the Sherlock/Fall Out Boy crossover because that was just bonkers.

8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Yes. I wrote a fic that was really horrible to Mary in “Sherlock.” I hate Mary. I feel like I can say that now. I haaaaaated Mary. But in those days “Sherlock” was an incredibly tense fandom to be part of and if you didn’t say that you loved Mary all the time forever and always then people were like !7@((!*(@(!& at you. I have a million massive warnings in all caps all over the fic, like, DON’T READ THIS IF YOU LIKE MARY, and people still would leave rude comments on it lololol. And then we wonder why I left that fandom lol. I do. My smut almost always has to be advancing some kind of emotional beat in the characters’ relationship. I’m never super-explicit because usually the whole point of the scene to me is what the characters are thinking and feeling, not really what they’re *doing.*

Sometimes my fics show up somewhere without my knowledge. People are really good about letting me know when that happens.

14. What’s a wip that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

I have this high school Peterick AU that I started at the beginning of the pandemic. For some reason, when schools shut down, all I could think about was all these bands that wouldn’t get formed because the kids couldn’t go to each other’s houses, like Pete Wentz couldn’t just show up at Patrick Stump’s to hear him play. So I started this story where Pete and Patrick meet right before the pandemic hits, and then everything locks down and they’re stuck Facetiming each other and coming to the realization that their soulmate is on the other side of the screen.

Anyway, I actually think this fic is super-hot?? And I never think I write hot things, but it’s got a hot phone sex scene and I’m really happy with it and I would love to finish the story...except that the pandemic turned out to be...this. And in my head, Idk, I thought there’d be this triumphant moment where everyone would be like, “Yay! We can see each other now!” and Pete and Patrick would reunite, and instead everything petered out into, “Can we see each other now........????? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ �� and I didn’t know what to do with that in my fic, it made it not as neat as I was wanting it to be.

But I hate to lose that hot phone sex scene hahaha. And also after the hot phone sex scene Patrick adds “Hotline Bling” to his and Pete’s shared Spotify playlist they’ve been working on and I’M SORRY, I FOUND THAT SO CHARMING, PATRICK STOLE MY HEART WITH THAT MOVE, anyway, as you can see, I love so much about the fic and I really want to find a way to make it work and maybe someday I will the end.

15. What are your writing strengths?

My dialogue.

Also I think I write the same story over and over (person realizes that they’re deserving of being loved for exactly who they are), but I think I’m REALLY GOOD at that one story lol

Also I like to think that I write family relationship stuff fairly well, like, Idk, I love doing that stuff, whether found family or biological.

Oh, and I think I usually get the ratio of angst::happy ending pretty good (in my view for my personal preference lol).

16. What are your writing weaknesses?

I don’t think I’m especially good at smut. I’m terrible at paying attention to things like setting, what the characters are wearing, what the characters even look like, etc. As mentioned above, I tell the same story over and over and over, and I’m okay with that, but yeah, I’d be bad at telling a story where people aren’t, like, nice people who you’re rooting for.

17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I think I couldn’t do it, because I don’t speak any other language, but I’m always happy when people translate my fics!

What efforts will be made to make your project more inclusive? It's been several years, and this fandom still remains ignorant of half the casts' background, despite their significance *in Paris*. Even the Chinese components, without which the plot would not operate, are not well known—as though there hasn't been a Chinese and Vietnamese presence in France since the 17th C, and since WW1 the largest Chinese community in Europe. Jewish? Muslim? Morocco? Algeria and Tunisia? Martinique? S. Africa?

Heya, I'm not sure to get everything about your question but I'll answer as best as I can!

So reminder about the project anon is talking about, it's the one I have with other French people in the fandom to make a Tumblr blog dedicated to French culture in ML, as well as setting up a discord server.

(By the way, half off-topic but the project is right now put a little bit on hold because of personal problems I'm currently dealing with for which I hadn't anticipated sudden complications after my announcement of the project - I'm still working on it dw but very slowly, please be patient sorry! ♥︎)

The project has several aims here:

One, to pick up on French culture references in the show that people outside of France could miss. It can be as I talked about in my blog before things regarding cheek kisses, or more specifically about Miraculous, references inserted in the show (ex: "Françoise Dupont", the name of the cast's school, comes from the name of a French masked vigilante in a kids story called "Fantômette", etc., French puns in the characters' names, etc.). This also includes language & expressions informations from an episode.

Two, to give general information about how things are happening here in France, or places in Paris; ex: how the school system works here, what kind of food we eat for breakfast/lunch or dinner, stuffs about legislation, etc.

Three, to answer questions people can have related to French culture in general or in ML, be it for their own curiosity or to help them writing fics, or understand the context better for analyses, etc.

I'm currently asking several French persons in the fandom who wants to give me a hand in the project so I don't have to deal with this alone, and also because it's good to have different perspectives. We'll try our best to remain as factual and accurate as possible.

Which means, if there are questions regarding other cultures as you mentioned that we don't know about, we will either not answer or ask in an open-minded way if someone from these cultures can help us to answer. I don't want to spread misinformation and I certainly don't want to pretend I know about a culture that isn't mine!

Ideally depending on how the project is received and how it grows, but then again it depends on who wants to join, I'd like for instance to also find people who are Chinese (living in France if possible) or like Marinette, half-Chinese to be able to answer questions people could have regarding these cultures. I cannot guarantee that I'll find these people as of now, but it's been in my mind.

I'll repeat it again but it's really important to me that I cater to what I know and for which I'm in a position of sharing my feelings / experiences / opinions / knowledge and not speak for others. So if I'm being asked for instance "what it's like to live in France if you're Chinese/Moroccan/etc", if there isn't someone in the project who matches what the ask describes, we won't answer and just openly ask if someone who does in the fandom can share their experience instead 😉

The project is also here to be factual with how things are in France, or in the show, and doesn't aim to solve societal issues if that makes sense. It's not our role and it would be a huge responsibility to put on a bunch of fans who just want to help others understand the show's cultural context more!

Doctor Who Series 13 - Yaz/13. Why not try it?

With Series 13 fast approaching, carded for release hopefully later on this year, I believe it's time that the show go forth in a new direction, one that it's never gone in before. Now, it is a bit controversial in some circles, and the mere mention of it for some people can make them upset, but I feel like if the show wants to progress and change as it's always done, they could at least try it.

So, for Series 13, regardless of whether it's Jodie's last series or not, I'd like to see the 13th Doctor tell Yaz that she is attracted to her. I know, it's an idea that has mostly been examined in fanfics, but what if the show tried it for itself?

Now, shipping the Doctor with the companion is nothing new for fans, as well as the showrunners in a way. There's been Rose/10, 12/Clara and everything in between and beyond. But those pairings have never gone beyond simply just something for showrunners to tease with and fans to muse on or even write about themselves (I should know, I'm one of those fans). So I think with the 60th anniversary of the show drawing ever closer, taking a big step like that would be quite something to honor the show's history of change and progress.

It's not like it's coming out of the blue either. Everyone and their mum can see that Yaz has a massive crush on the Doctor. Whether you want them together or not, it's there. The signs have been there throughout Series 11 and 12 and Yaz's pursuit of locating the Doctor in ROTD this year, basically confirmed it imo. For this iteration of the Doctor, I also believe that it's quite obvious that Yaz is her favorite companion she's had. She seems warmer with her, more upbeat, more ready to go. Not saying she's not had her moments with Graham and Ryan, but they have been more prevalent with Yaz.

Now with Series 13 the way it is with three companions, a lot of people believe that Dan will potentially ruin the times they wanted with Yaz and 13, and while I don't believe that's true, I also believe that based on certain social media posts, there's at least some kind of push for Yaz and 13 as a thing, whether romantic or not.

The official DW Twitter account posting fanart of them holding hands with Dan in the background, the official DW Instagram account posting an image with them together for IWD. There has been at least some kind of allowance from the people running the show for these things to happen. So if there's a potential of the show itself running with those two getting closer together, why not go all the way?

Doesn't have to be a grand gesture. We don't need another Bad Wolf Bay moment. Something simple like the Doctor telling Yaz,, "I really like you." or "I really like you too." if Yaz reveals her own feelings first. Just baby steps. We don't need to see them dating, business can go on as usual. But at least there would be that knowledge in the background that they at least both really like each other.

Plus, in a wider societal point, imagine if the first Doctor and companion pairing to BOTH reveal their attraction to each other, were two females? That's also something that could make the fandom feel more inclusive, show that girls liking girls isn't a bad thing. It's been there before with Bill, and Clara (bi) but doing it with the Doctor would be something entirely braver and earth shattering.

Now, I'm only a humble fanfic writer. My opinions don't mean anything. But I do know that there are others like me who believe the same thing. This is not a message to Chibbs or anyone involved at the show, but mostly just a thought thrown into the air that I would love to see manifested into something real.

I have two MBTI/enneagram questions. Feel free to answer either/both/none, whatever.

Question 1

This is a tritype + MBTI question. I've been ruminating a lot this summer about tritype, and have found it to be super illuminating for me to use in conjunction with MBTI. It blows my mind that these theories can build on and work with one another and that consistent patterns can be determined to help us understand ourselves and others better! (ok, getting off the little soapbox now.) I've had some frustrations deciding how to distinguish functions from enneatypes though.

How does one know whether they're a 5 because they are (maybe they're a Ti-dom, etc.) or because they're in a Ti-grip or some Ti-loop when they take the test? Same idea with 7s and Se, or other enneagram + function combinations that are really common?

Does the person in question (you) have problems with minimizing their life rather than expanding it? 5s shrink their world. Make it smaller. Do without more things. Deny themselves experiences. Pull away from people. Remain hidden. Observers, not participants. If you have 5 in your tritype, that will show up. It's not the same as low Ti nitpicking or tearing people's words to shreds to humiliate them. Ti breaks things apart to understand them; strong Ti knows how to then put them together again, with a strong understanding of how the object, system, belief, principle, etc., functions. Inferior Ti can pull things apart, but can't always put them back together again.

You need to know functions and Enneagarm types enough to know the difference; 5 is not analytical, and Ti is not analytical. 5 is minimization of needing anyone, anything, of shrinkage and distance; Ti is deconstruct, study it to learn it, and rebuild it through an inner framework of comprehensive understanding. It's not just driving a car, but knowing how the engine functions.

The tests aren't reliable. You have to do inner studying to determine your type structure. To be able to see each number's mechanisms operating in you, when you are using them. (EG, being fully aware that I'm using 2 mechanisms right now... that my 7 really wants to cut and run and not stick around to face the hard stuff... that my 5 just said no to an experience for no reason other than fear... that 9 is overreacting to someone raising their voice, and I'm interpreting that as Threat Level 6...) Enneagram is meant to give you a window into your own default mechanisms, so you can be aware of them, and choose whether to surrender to instinct or choose a different path. A test can start you on a path, but you really need to focus inward to know for sure.

Regarding INFJ or ENFJ... are people your entire universe or secondary to your inner musings? Fe-doms can't shut off Fe. People are their world. Emotions are their world. Human dynamics are their world. INFJs can shut off Fe. They often do so, and become too lost in their heads, inert in the outer world, and fearful of Fe connections, because they may lose themselves in other people and that would pull them away from their thoughts.

If you have any input on parenting effects, or whether being around lots of Fe-users impacts Fe-usage (especially since Fe is all about mirroring and blending in to fit what others need/norms), I'd love to hear it. Thank you thank you thank you!!

Your environment does impact you somewhat, but you are "you" when you are alone. What do you choose to do? Where does your focus go? How well can you dwell "inside myself" for long periods of time? You’re aware that someone stood by you - a respectable, conversational distance from you, but you didn’t know this person. He could have had a very husky and enticing voice, you thought, had he not sounded so mocking. You continue to stare venomously at who you had considered a close friend, dancing in the arms of your ex.

Using the half empty glass in your hand, you gesture at the two of them. “If that’s what it means to love freely, then I want no part in it.”

The man scoffs and leans his elbow onto the table at which you stood. “We all want  part in it, and even more so when we can not have it.”

What a strange man, you think. You go to take another gulp of the alcohol - which was really not doing its job - and frown when the glass is plucked from your hands. The man examines the contents, letting out an amused chuckle. 

“Really, you think this will drown out your love?”

“What ‘love’? I think I made it clear I want no part in this whole ‘love’ business.” 

You glare at the man and attempt to take your glass back, but he moves it out of the way, as if to examine it under different lighting.

He was a very fine man, you had to admit, dressed in peculiar clothes for a nightclub. He wore a dark suit jacket over a white shirt. He dressed somewhat professionally for someone his age at a club.

He had very pale skin, contrasting with his brown hair in a way that had you thinking about dark corners of quiet libraries. Even under the bad lighting of the nightclub, you could see that he had very plump, very pink lips, and his eyes were bright, almost as if they glowed… You had to force yourself to look away. 

“I think it is quite clear that you have had part in this ‘love’ business. Not only is it evident in the way your eyes follow your friends’ every move, you reek of heartbreak. And you swivel this beverage like you’re to drown out all your sanity in due time.” 

“Well, damn.” The man’s eyes flicker momentarily with amusement, but you don’t notice. “Unfortunate that you won’t let me do it. And for the record, they’re not my friends. Not anymore.”

“May I ask your name?” You don’t reply, eyes still trained on your ex. “I’m Chan. I would like to get to know you better, if you’d let me.”

You give him half a laugh at that. “You’d like to “get to know me?” I’d thought that someone as good looking as you would have been smoother or more subtle.”

“I do find that being upfront is the most efficient method of doing most things.”

Resisting the urge to roll your eyes - out of amusement, for you didn’t think this man could bore you so easily - you turn and offer your hand. “I’m y/n.”

He takes it, but instead of shaking it, he brings your knuckles up and brushes his lips against your knuckles. “A pleasure, y/n.” Letting your hand go, he looks you in the eye - and again, you’re drawn in by them, the strange glow they seemed to have. “Would I be overstepping my boundaries to ask if you would like to… get out of here? And maybe you can tell me about the two who were once your friends.”

It was easy to take Chan up on his offer. The nightclub was only fun when you were there with someone. You had come with the intention of distracting yourself, but instead had come face-to-face with the very cause of the need for distraction. 

Chan had a way with his words, and old fashioned as it may have seemed, he was able to weasel out the full story.

“So he didn’t cheat on me, he just… left me. For my friend.”

“Well, dear, it would seem that love has not been fair for either of us.”

You look at Chan, urging him to go on - his words had sounded dark and bitter - but he continues to walk down the street. A disappointed pout appears on your lips as you catch up to him. What was the fun in you telling him about yourself but him not telling you anything about him?

“So, what do you do for a living? Wait, let me guess!” You catch him eyeing you with laughter in his eyes. “You’re the son of a rich CEO, currently in training to take over the company in a few months?”

Chan entertains the idea for a second, before shaking his head. “No, unfortunately I’m in no such position.”

“You’re a barista at a corner cafe? And there’s hanging plants outside the cafe window.”

“Very specific, but no to that too.”

“Well, then you have to be an idol or something- No way, don’t tell me you’re a trainee-”

He spins to face you, and offers you a polite, charming smile. “The night is not so young, y/n. Should you really be wandering around with a man you just met?”

“Well, that was the initial plan before you stole my drink,” you murmur glumly. “Besides, if you were gonna take advantage of me, wouldn’t you have let me keep drinking? No use depriving a heartbroken, innocent and vulnerable maiden like myself of alcohol, dear sir.” You drape a hand over your forehead, twirling yourself around a nearby lamp post. You open your eyes to see Chan suppressing a smile. “Oh, but kind sir, if you insist, I shall make myself scarce! ...Why do you talk like that, anyways?”

“Like what?”

“Like an overpolite butler.”

“An overpolite-” Chan seems like he’s about to protest, but he quickly composes his features with a shake of his head. “You should be getting home, y/n.” 

“Oh, so the butler does insist that the maiden go home.”

With a lop-sided smile, Chan offers his arm and you feel the pull again, the strange attraction he draws from you. “He also insists on walking the young maiden home, if she will allow him to do so.”

You do.

Chan doesn’t talk much as he walks with your arm in his. He lets you lead the conversation, occasionally letting out a hum or a comment to let you know that he was still listening. 

Walking with him felt like walking between old buildings with cobblestone paths winding between them. You enjoyed his company immensely, but there was something… old about him. And not just the way he talked. 

Under the steady light of the moon, you saw that your earlier observation had been right - his eyes did glow softly around the irises, as if behind them was a light source, silhouetting his dark eyes. They seemed to have an unexplainable depth to them, the type of depth and knowledge that you associated with growing age. Chan had that, despite how young he looked. He held a certain sense of immortality in his eyes, looking as if he had seen the darkest sides of humankind. 

Your walk with Chan soon comes to an end as you stand before your apartment complex. It rises up behind you as you turn to face Chan, a sad smile on your face.

“I don’t suppose I could invite you inside? For… Coffee, or something?” 

It was a pitiful attempt to spend more time with him, and he must have noticed it. Afterall, who would invite someone for coffee at midnight?

“I’m afraid not, y/n, dear.” Chan looks hesitant as to what to do next. “Although I do suppose I could come by tomorrow, if you are free?”

You’re aware that your mouth had opened in shock. So it was a mutual feeling, wanting to spend more time together. “I am, yes, that would be- That would be really nice!”

“Then I shall see you tomorrow, y/n.” You’re left speechless as he once again lifts your knuckles to his lips, bowing his head and letting the kiss linger for a second longer. “It has been a pleasure.”

He straightens, gives you a polite smile, and turns to go.

Watching him walk away, you’re left feeling warm and excited inside. Tomorrow was so close yet so far.

Your stomach flips as Chan freezes and then turns, making his way back to you. You’re worried that he’s had a change of mind.

“Can I.. Would it be improper to-” He cuts off with a frown, then slowly opens his mouth. “Would it be alright if i kissed you, now?”

It catches you off guard, but you can’t help and think that… oh, this was the plan for the night anyways, was it not? A means to distract yourself?

So you nod, and you’re aware of a feather-light sigh before Chan bundles you into his arms and you confirm the softness of his lips. It’s nothing more than him pressing his lips against yours, but it sends a spark through your body, like someone had lit the wick of a candle and your body was being engulfed in warm flames. 

When he pulls back, you find yourself moving forward and looking for more. It takes you a moment to realise he hadn’t moved back in, despite your attempts. 

You open your eyes and almost lose your breath - he was gazing at you, the moon behind him, full and bright. He was silhouetted against the moonlight. His eyes seemed aflame - but no, you had determined they had their own glow… it made him look ethereal.

Like an avenging angel.

“Perhaps… we should go in?” 

The trip to your apartment had the possibility of turning into a messy elevator make-out session, had it not been for the middle-school kid who stood in the corner, eyeing Chan with some awe. When Chan gave him a smile, the kid ran out of the elevator. You were sure he’d gotten off a floor too early.

You’re calmer when you’re back in your apartment. Chiding yourself for not cleaning up before leaving, you quietly lead Chan to the couch. Chan has your fingers clasped in his hands - loosely, but it was enough that he still felt connected to you. 

He falls next to you on the couch, moving in at the same time to kiss you again. It was light and teasing, yet he seemed restrained, hesitant and conscious of your reactions. 

“Hey, it’s okay,” you whisper, but you’re not sure if it’s for him or for yourself. “We don’t need to do anything more than this, if you don’t want.”

Chan places a hand under your chin, tilting your lips up to meet his in a brief kiss.

“Y/n, do you trust me?”

Your brows furrow, and you’re unable to answer. You’d like to say yes, but the reality was that you’d only known him a few hours. However, his eyes pull you in, and you remember the sincerity and care in the roaming of his hands, of his lips. Your body warms over, and you tell yourself it’s the remnants of the alcohol in your veins. You nod. 

Chan places two hands in front of him, palm-side up. When you place your hands in his, he guides them around his waist, and rests them on his lower back. 

His face was close to yours, his breath warm on your cheek. 

“Up, y/n.”

You’re scared to take your eyes off of him as shaking fingers move up his back, and you almost freeze when you feel them - two lines, each between the shoulder blade and spine. As your fingers trace up along the scars, a surge of sadness washes over you, and you see in your mind’s eye a flash of light, and you can feel it, the anger and the confusion and the pain. 

“I told you, didn’t I? We all want to love freely, even more so when we can not have it.”

“What… happened?”

Chan looks shattered for a moment, but he straightens his back and sits tall, keeping a steady gaze on you. “I was once an angel, I suppose - yes, the angels in your old literature, angels that stood by God - although I suppose I was never in such a high position.” He pauses bitterly. “We angelic beings… we’re forbidden from feeling love. Any type of love. It misguides us, they say. Makes us biased.”

An angel, he had said. Something clicked in your mind, and you were surprised at how calm you were reacting to this news. It made sense, afterall. Explained the scars, the eyes. The over-polite butler personality.

“Love doesn’t misguide you.” Raising a hand to cup his face, you brush a thumb under his eye. “It makes you-” Human. “Alive,” you say instead. 

Chan has a solemn look on his face when he turns his head and kisses the inside of your palm. Then, he moves forward and kisses you - the corner of your mouth, your cheek, your eyes, your lips. It was no longer teasing and fun, but instead, bittersweet, as if he was aware of the consequences of love.

And he was, you suppose, aware of the consequences. 

For him, it had been the fall from heaven. But for you… Well, he hadn’t been wrong when he’d said everyone wants a part in love. 

Your hands loops around his neck and you pull him on top of you, falling back onto the couch. You wanted to prove that… well, that even if he was a fallen angel, even if he saw love as something that could cause so much harm, that it was also something worth fighting for. Worth living for.

Sunrise was only a few hours away, but you had never felt quite this awake before. The calm that washed over you now was something you had rarely felt before. Your back was to Chan’s chest, a blanket resting over the both of you. 

Chan had a hand in your hair, fingers combing through it. It was soothing, tempting you to close your eyes and rest.

You would have, had it not been for the questions in your head.

“Did it hurt?” Your voice was barely more than a whisper.

“Did what hurt?”

It seemed wrong to smile, but you couldn’t help it. “When you fell from heaven.”

Chan’s hands freeze in your hair, and you worry that you’ve overstepped your boundaries.

“... It’s hard to recall. Perhaps it did, for the scars are too ugly for it to not have.” His hands resume their stroking, before he places a kiss on your head and pulls you in. “But I do not think it hurt in the way that humans experience physical pain. I remember a column of fire coming down on me, but I can only remember thinking that the fire was colder than I had expected.” Chan sighs. “Perhaps you should rest now, y/n.” “... Just one more question?”

“Well, alright. I suppose one more won’t hurt.”

“If angels are forbidden to love… why are they still able to do so?”

It’s silent for a few seconds.

“I suppose it’s because we’re able to love that it’s forbidden. I’m not sure what you think of it, but fate is a real thing, and everyone is fated to be with another.”

“Even angels?”

“... It’s rather cruel, isn’t it? To forbid something meant to be?”

You can’t do much else other than curl into Chan’s chest. It was cruel. 

Chan’s arm pulls you in tight, and you feel his chest chest push against your back as he inhales. The exhale tickles the top of your head.

“Hey, Chan?”

He lets out a hum, and you let yourself soak in his warmth a few seconds second longer.

“You’re not going to disappear on me, are you?”

“I’m a fallen angel, love,” Chan says with a soft smile. “Not a ghost.”

“Of course not… you’re not even that scary.”

Light laughter tickles the top of your head as Chan pulls you closer. 

“Maybe all those years alone were worth it, even if just for this one moment.” His hand trails down the side of your face, and as if it pulled a curtain down with it, you feel your eyelids grow heavy. “Now sleep, love, and wake when the sun does.”
