worried that thing you put in your art or writing or game or music is too self-indulgent, too self-referential, too niche for anyone but yourself? fear not! you can do whatever you want forever. and you should.
#writing#art#music#games#things i have to remind myself of daily#anyway ive found those things you're worried about sharing are often the most powerful things you CAN share#i hope you write#<- i would like to replace that tag with something that is less conversational#it makes reblogs awkward#anyway good morning. i have so many things to do today but instead i am crafting a memorial to my partner's best friend in my fanfiction.

it's been exactly a year since the last chapter of Operation Walburga's Arbitrary No Kissing Ever Rule and I still miss it. This scene is probably one of my favourite things I've ever written and I've wanted to draw it for forever, so now seemed like an appropriate time
#jegulus#jegulus fanart#marauders fanart#regulus black#james potter#james x regulus#marauders#regulus black fanart#james potter fanart#starchaser#sunseeker#regulus x james#marauders era#jegulus fanfiction#fic: operation wanker#hp#mine#my art#ngl this drawing specifically made me realise why i prefer writing over drawing#i think too much in concepts to be able to capture a scene in a way that i want#you cant draw the same thing from several perspectives at once if you dont wanna go for cubism#(tho honestly cubism fanart sounds like a concept i could get behind mmmmm)#anyway i stayed up far too fucking long to finish this in time for today (and by too long i mean until 8am too long)#because originally i had planned to start posting ritardando as my anniversary celebration. yk more fake dating and all that...#but alas i scrapped the whole thing so drawing happened instead#not 100% satisified with how this turned out cause i dont know how perspectives work. or people. or backgrounds outside. you get the idea#i really very much like the second one tho i think its very pretty

You and Sam all but stumbled into the room, lips attached to one other as you guys hastily pawed at each other, eager to get rid of the troublesome clothes on your bodies. Through the haze of lust, you could tell that you were being pushed back, and you had landed on the edge of the bed. Your lips had finally separated from Samâs for the first time since you entered the room.Â
Your naked chest heaved as you tried to catch your breath underneath Samâs hungry gaze. You were already so fucked out, and Sam hadnât done anything but overwhelm you with his kisses and insistent hands. You were stripped naked, barring your underwear, which had yet to be taken off and practically soaked through with your arousal, making the soft white color of the panties almost translucent.Â
Samâs large form loomed over you, making you lean back until your bare back hit the sheets of the bed. Samâs lips were pulled into a salacious smirk as he hovered over you, his hips slotting in between your open legs. You let out a soft moan as you felt the rough denim of his jeans rut against your clothed core.Â
You saw Samâs lips twitch up further before planting soft, teasing kisses across your jaw and cheek before capturing your lips between his. His tongue breached your mouth instantly, swiping his tongue against yours and making your brain go haywire as his warm hands roamed over your thighs and hips until one of them made it to one of your breasts and started to knead it. A keening whine left your mouth as he pinched the hardened nub in between his fingers.Â
A low chuckle rumbled in Samâs chest. âGod, I love your noises.â He mumbled against your lips before biting the bottom one gently.Â
His lips left yours, and he skimmed his lips down your jaw with a feather-light touch as he kissed and nipped at your neck. Sam filled your senses as you felt his mouth trail lower and lower, kissing and biting anywhere he could. You knew you would be covered in small bruises and bite marks by the time Sam was done with you, but you couldnât give a single shit about it at the moment as you felt his breath ghost against your lower belly as he sunk in between your open legs.Â
âFuck.â Sam breathed out when he saw the state of your underwear. âYouâre soaking, arenât you sweetheart?â You could hear the satisfaction in his voice as he left sloppy kisses on your inner thighs.Â
One of your hands made its way into his hair, brushing the hair away from his forehead while the other gripped the sheets next to you tightly. When you met his eyes, the hazel in them was non-existent as they were overtaken by the lust that had taken over any rational he had.Â
âSâall for you.â You managed to rasp out.Â
âAll for me?â The smirk that was on his face could have rivaled the devilâs as he sucked a mark into your plush inner thigh. Sam all but shoved his face into your crotch; you felt him take a deep inhale of your clothed cunt and let out a groan. âYou smell so good.â
A soft whimper left your lips as his lips kissed your covered mound through your underwear. Sam started to lap at your cunt through the soaked material, making it even wetter.Â
âFuck.â He said with a grunt. âYouâre so wet. I can taste you through your underwear.â Sam went from licking to kissing at your clit.Â
You could feel how your underwear was stuck to your cunt like a second skin. Low moans and whines left your parted lips as Sam mouthed at your cunt, licking and kissing at it with your soaked panties acting as the only barrier between your dripping core and his mouth.Â
One of Samâs hands left your thigh to pull the material of your underwear taut against you, making a small yelp escape your mouth at the new sensation.Â
Sam pulled away for a moment. âBet if I could make you cum just like this.â He said to himself, tugging the underwear tighter against you. Â
You tugged at the strands on top of his head, making Sam look up at your shaking head. âTake them off.â You pouted at him.Â
You moved the hand that wasnât in Samâs hair off of the bed and to the waistband of your underwear. Sam acted quickly and used his free hand to grab your wrist and pin it back down on the bed.Â
Sam moved from his spot between your legs to hover over you, your hand falling from his hair as he shook his head and looked at you with a stern glare.
He clicked his tongue at you. âYouâre not in charge tonight.âÂ
You couldnât help the scowl that formed on your face. Before you could even blink, both of your wrists were pinned above your head in one of Samâs hands on the headboard while the other wrapped around the base of your neck loosely.Â
âYou wanna act like a brat tonight? Because Iâll treat you like one.â Samâs nostrils flared as he leaned closer to you, his nose brushing against yours, and you held his fiery gaze.Â
You shook your head at him. âWanna be your good girl.âÂ
âThen youâll take what I give you.â The hand that was at the base of your neck moved up to wrap around your neck, but he didnât put any pressure on it. A small whimper left your lips at the feeling of Samâs big hand around your throat.Â
Sam sent you a dark smirk before kissing you fast and hard. âKeep them there.â He squeezed your wrists before slinking down your body until he was face-to-face with your covered cunt again. He pulled your underwear hard against you and wasted no time trying to get you to cum.Â
You wished you could feel his talented tongue against your bare cunt, but pleasure still surged through you as you felt him press his tongue hard against you and focused on your clothed clit. Sam managed to suck at it through the fabric, making you buck against his mouth. You could feel the familiar heat brew in your lower belly as Sam continued his ministrations. You were writhing on the bed, trying to keep your hands against the headboard as you tried to grind against Samâs face.Â
Sam threw an arm around your hips, keeping you in place as he ate you out like a man starved. Loud moans erupted from the back of your throat as you felt yourself coming closer and closer to the edge.Â
Sam could tell you were getting close. âYou gonna cum, pretty girl?âÂ
âYes!â You gasped.â Pl-please let me cum.â You all but whined out, tears welling up in your eyes. You were so worked up, and all you wanted was for Sam to let you cum and finally fuck you.Â
Sam chuckled against you, the vibrations making the warmth in your core even hotter. âGonna make you cum.â He doubled down, wanting to make you cum as soon as possible.Â
You were covered in a sheen of sweat as you felt the band in your core become tighter and tighter. Sam took your clit and sucked on it hard, biting it lightly, and the band snapped. Your mouth was open in a silent moan as pleasure racked through your body. Sam mouthed at your soaked-through underwear as you came down, shiny with his spit and your cum.Â
Sam planted soft kisses up your body and pressed a chaste kiss against your lips when you finally calmed down. You let out a low moan as you tasted yourself against his slick-covered lips. You didnât realize that your eyes had closed until they fluttered open to see Samâs satisfied smile.Â
âTold you I could make cum with them on.âÂ

every year people get angry when ao3 requests donations but honestly in a world where almost all spaces online are slowly being eaten by corporations which censor the content on those sites, having a fan-run fan-sponsored place where people can create gay art without fear is great
#ao3#i understand the frustration when donation posts are not getting funding#while ao3 does#but ultimately you can't control how people spend their money and having a space like this for#people to preserve writing even if its silly fanfiction is a good thing#archives are very useful and important and preserving a space of the internet for works created out of joy and passion#is not a bad thing#urging people do donate to any random donation post instead of ao3 is reckless when it's incredibly hard to verify#the source of the donation posts and whether its legit#unless of course you know the person in question

Canât help falling in love
summary: 5 times Aemond was in love with you + 1 time he finally confessed his feelings
warnings: friends to lovers (at the age of 9, 10, 15, 17, 19), a pinch of angst (Aemond healing after losing his eye), but overall so fluffy and sweet you may want to skip dessert
words: ~ 5500 (I got reeeally carried away with that love confession)
1.
Aemond is weeks away from his tenth birthday and he feels as miserable as ever. That feeling is an iron weight upon his heart, his mood irritated and face features grim more often than not. He is still without a dragon â and itâs the only thing he can think of, day and night, steadfast and stubborn in his obsession that most of his family finds to be blown out of proportion. It might have stang him less if only it wasnât for the constant teasing and pitiful jokes that added to his distress and the never-ending heartache. He learns to keep a straight face and act as if he doesnât really care, but deep down he does, way more than heâll ever admit.
His training sessions are a way to channel his anger, and he lashes out at a straw man, again and again, clinging to the thought that, at least in these moments, he is not entirely powerless. He keeps his focus on the target, attentive to Ser Cristonâs advice â âSoften your kneesâ, âKeep your feet light, your hands heavyâ, and for a couple of hours he forgets about his misery.
Itâs when the training comes to an end, the dreaded realization sinks in again, and Aemond is lost in his thoughts, mindlessly twirling the wooden sword in one hand, his gaze wandering around the yard.
And then his eyes fall on a bright green spot â and all of a sudden, he sees you. A girl of his age, the hem of your green dress a bit dusty, boots covered in dirt, a few strands of hair fallen loose, a coy smile on your face. You meet his gaze and wave at him excitedly.
Aemond looks dumbfounded. A girl in the training yard. Waving at him. He blinks once, twice â and in the next moment, youâre standing merely a few steps away, glancing curiously at his sword.
âIt looks so hefty! Is it heavy? What is it made of?â a string of questions, your voice sweet and joyful.
Thereâs a brief pause and maybe you mistake his stiffness for arrogance as you are quick to add:
âOh, my manners!â gasping but showing no actual regret. âForgive me,â you curtsy, your smile growing even wider. A timid smile appears on his face in return and he finally comes to his senses.
âItâs made out of red oak. Itâs not very heavy, you get used to it,â Aemond raises the sword, letting you take a closer look. Within another blink of an eye he finds himself talking to you, your questions endless and maybe a bit naive but he genuinely enjoys it.
Thatâs until you both hear a loud cry.
âLady Y/N!â your nanny comes running in, out of breath and scowling. âI told you not to wander around...,â she chokes on her words at the sight of the young prince. She curtsies, too, but it isnât nearly as cute as when you do it.
She sprints decisively in your direction. âIt wasnât very polite of you to interrupt the princeâs training, you little menace!â
And then Aemond, to his own surprise, moves to stand in her way.
âShe didnât interrupt a thing,â he disagrees, lips thinned into a tight line.
The nanny stops and looks at Aemond dubiously, switching her gaze from him to you.
Ser Criston is the one to resolve the conflict â he comes from behind, with a polite smile plastered on his face.
âYoung lady can watch from the balcony. The guests are very much welcomed,â he calls for the maid to escort you and your nanny up there. While youâre away, he looks at Aemond with a grin:
âAlready wooing the ladies, my prince? Letâs hope you are as good with your sword as she thinks you are.â
He does make Aemond work for it but the prince fights back, winning one bout after the other. He keeps glancing at you and you wave at him every single time.
Aemond is too young to know what love is, too shy and guarded to even entertain the thought of it. But when you look at him, with your childish grin and your eyes bright with mirth, he doesnât feel lonely anymore. 2.
Itâs been two weeks since Aemond lost his eye and he hasnât left the bed. The pain is still blinding, burning and constantly making his only eye water. But what hurts even more is the humiliating disability. The triumph of claiming Vhagar died down, and now the prince was faced with the harsh reality he needed to adjust to and the process wasnât an easy one. The fever has only recently gone down, leaving his body weak and freezing from the lack of movement, but he couldnât bear the thought of stepping out of the room.
His mother wouldnât leave his side and even Aegon often came to visit, clearly blaming himself for not being there for his little brother. Yet their presence barely brought Aemond any comfort and most of the time he would pretend to be asleep to avoid any conversations. He knew they only meant well and he was being cruel but he couldnât help it as his pride was shattered and he gave in to sadness.
That is until one night he wakes up to a weird sound. Heâs only half-awake when he hears a vigorous tapping that clearly comes from the outside. Except it's not from the other side of the door â but rather outside his window.
Heâs startled by this guess and suspiciously walks closer. It takes him a few seconds to focus his gaze and discern a humanâs silhouette â and then another few to realize that itâs you standing on the window sill. He feels like his heart will jump out of his chest as he rushes to open the window.
You climb through and clumsily drop to the floor. But before he can get worried, you are on your feet again, eyeing him with concern.
âOh, Aemond,â your gaze and voice are both so soft, it makes his lower lip quiver. You carefully approach him and put your hand on his shoulder, gently sliding it on his back in a soothing motion and then cuddling him. He welcomes your company with a sigh of relief. You smell of oranges and you give the best hugs.
âThey told me no one was allowed into your chambers,â your hushed whisper burns his ear. âThe silliest thing Iâve ever heard!â you pull away from him, still lightly panting, cheeks flushed and hair messy. âI knew I had to find a way to come see you.â
You examine his face, frowning at the scar thatâs still healing.
âDoes it hurt?â
He only nods, afraid that if he opens his mouth, he wonât be able to hold back a sob. You move closer, resuming the gentle motion of rubbing his back.
Ever since that day in the training yard, you kept in touch, regularly sending each other letters, chatting about everything and nothing, sharing your little secrets and observations. You recently mentioned that your parents allowed you to come see him again, but with the tragic change of events, Aemond completely forgot about the preplanned visit.Â
âI will take his eye,â you say out of the blue, caressing the unharmed side of his face, your voice laced with anger. Aemond thinks he mightâve heard it wrong.
â...Whose eye?â
âLukeâs! I shall take his eye, as payment for yours,â you tell him with zero hesitation. For a girl of your age, youâre way too eager to plan such a thing, yet he somehow has no doubts that you can actually do it.
Aemond shakes his head.
âYou shouldnât,â his voice quiet but firm. âThe King was very adamant about that, no payment is needed.â
âWell, maybe he is too old to think straight,â you retort. âYou are his son and you lost an eye! Justice must prevail,â you tilt your head at him, clearly thinking that youâre in the right.
And he knows that you are but he also knows no justice will be served. Itâs the last straw for Aemond â he looks away in shame as tears, hot and angry, start falling down his cheek. You waste no time hugging him again, letting him cry on your shoulder, and the two of you stay like that for what feels like an hour.
And then, in the comfortable silence of your embrace, he hears you asking, very seriously:
âAre you sure I canât take his eye?â
At that moment, he canât stop himself from letting out a laugh â a weak one and barely audible, but still, he laughs, for the first time in two weeks, and you are the sole reason for it.Â
Your cheek is pressed to his, your fingers running through his hair, and Aemond realizes he canât lose you.
He begrudgingly persuades you that taking Lukeâs eye isnât worth the trouble.
3.
By the age of fifteen Aemond becomes quite accustomed to the eyepatch and it gives him a boost of confidence. Losing an eye only made him train harder and his persistence pays off when heâs the one to win, time after time, no matter who his opponent is. His hair grows longer, now silky smooth and with no sign of his boyish curled ends, his face features sharpen. He learns to walk with his head high and hands clasped behind his back, mastering the intimidating look that makes most people want to stay away from the one-eyed prince.Â
His tricks couldâve never worked on you, though.
You come to visit him a few times a year, and he eagerly awaits your arrival. All the days in between, you keep talking through letters, them getting longer as you get closer. He keeps those letters locked in a hidden compartment of his table. And sometimes, for no specific reason â or maybe for the reason he canât yet formulate â he is drawn to reach for them, which always ends with him rereading the letters for hours. Some of them he knows by heart and yet it never stops him from having the pleasure of seeing your handwritten stories and little jokes that were only meant for him.
Today is no exception and Aemond is so enthralled by reading, he almost misses the knock on the door. The sound brings him to reality but he is in no hurry to react. The knocking comes again, and the prince groans, annoyed at the maidâs persistence. He carefully puts the letters back and goes to the door, armed with his cold gaze.
And then he opens it â and itâs you standing in front of him.Â
Aemond barely has time to register whatâs going on when you launch yourself at him, your arms immediately enveloping him in a tight hug, your laugh ringing in the air. He hugs you back and, while you canât see it, heâs grinning from ear to ear.
âI swear youâre getting taller every time we meet!â you look up at him, beaming, and he lets you in. âI soon will need a ladder just to hug you properly.â
âIâll be sure to let my body know of your disapproval,â he sneers and you stick out your tongue.
âWhile you are at it, shall you also work on your friendly face? I overheard the maids being frightened to go into your chambers,â you try giving him a scolding look but end up giggling at his reddened cheeks.
âI am friendly enough!â
âYes, nobody glowers quite like you,â you snicker and flop right on the floor, the move always making him smile. Aemond tried persuading you to sit on any other surface thatâs actually meant for sitting but you insisted that his fluffy rug works just as well, so he eventually gave up, deciding to join you. He never complained since.
Before he knows it, heâs immersed in the conversation while you enthusiastically share the recent news and everything thatâs happened to you on the road. Only about half an hour in, he notes a small bag youâre clasping in your hands.
âYou come bearing gifts?â
âOh, I almost forgot I had it,â you laugh, abashed. âI decided I should bring you something to replace this crumpled-looking thingâ.
It takes Aemond a minute to realize that youâre talking about his eyepatch. But he has no time to protest as you silence him with a gesture of your hand.
âI took it upon myself to count for how long youâve been wearing this one already,â your tone gets serious. âI must say, that number is disturbing.â
Thereâs a moment of silence and then he clears his throat, his voice unsure. âVery kind of you to think of that, I shall replace it later on.â
He reaches his hand to take the bag but you quickly cover it with yours, fingers brushing over his, and he freezes.
âAre you still not convinced that I can take a look at it?â you try to make eye contact but he averts your gaze.
âAemond, I was with you and I think Iâve seen enough back then â none of it scared me.â
âIt is not a sight for the faint of heart,â the prince mumbles, his bravado faltering.
âWell, I donât remember fainting the first time. You should have more faith in me,â you try to reason, holding his hand.
Aemond ponders for another minute â or maybe ten, he isnât sure, and you patiently wait, not wanting to press him any further. Then he finally makes a decision and, after taking a long, sad sigh, he removes the eyepatch and looks at you, the sight of him is the very definition of insecurity.
You stay silent for about five seconds before concluding:
âOh, it healed so nicely!â with no hint of uncertainty in your voice. Your smile reassures him a little as you peer at the sapphire, looking very pleased.
âThe gem compliments your eye very well,â you give him your verdict, taking the new eyepatch out.
âWe might have a different understanding of what a compliment is.â
âThis is me trying to say that I really like the way it looks,â you chide him lightly. âAnd I consider myself to be quite understanding, thank you very much. Will you stop pouting and let me put it on?â
At this point he surrenders, giving you permission, and you move closer, giggling with excitement. You gently fix his hair, making sure itâs all combed back, and then lean to put the eyepatch on. You have a habit of biting your lower lip when youâre too concentrated on something, and Aemond canât help but gaze at that part of your face while your teeth graze over the pillowy surface.Â
Heâs never let anyone this close â and not just in the sense of physical proximity. The moment is very intimate, and the softness of your movements tugs at his heart. He is suddenly very aware of the very short distance separating you two, and he holds his breath. You are oblivious to his stare and soon lean back, satisfied with the result and glancing at him with something akin to fondness.
He wishes he could paint a picture of you right at this moment, so tender and caring and sitting by his side.
He also wishes he could kiss you â and that thought scares him to death. And yet, once it appears, it never goes away.
4.
Aemond is seventeen and his life has been pure torture since you stopped visiting him. He hasnât seen you in over half a year (seven months and eleven days, not that anyone is counting). Itâs not your fault as your father has unexpectedly fallen ill and you couldnât leave his side. The prince exhausted the maester with questions, asking for advice to write back to you, worried sick that your separation would be stretched for way longer than he could handle.
Luckily, the Gods took pity on him, and he was glad to learn that your father got better, and you will come to Kingâs Landing soon. Your visit coincided with Aegonâs birthday, but Aemond didnât care about the feast, his mind only occupied with the thought of seeing you. He was both nervous and excited to the point of not even hiding it, which led to Aegon teasing him relentlessly. Helaena, on the other hand, wholeheartedly supported Aemondâs feelings for you.
âShe will be delighted to see you, too, I am sure of it,â his sister tells him the day before the event.
âBut the reason for it might be of a different nature,â Aemond remarks, and Helaena gives him a compassionate look.
âYou will never know her true feelings unless you ask,â she encourages. âThe two of you are so close, I consider her part of the family.â
Aemond knows that heâs of age and his mother hinted that, despite him showing no interest in courting, some ladies still found him attractive. He dismisses the idea but then finds himself thinking of it from time to time. When the realization forms in his head, itâs nerve-wracking but oh so compelling â he thinks he wouldâve really wanted to marry you. He just doesnât know how to tell you about it.
The day of your arrival comes, and Aemond wakes up at dawn in anticipation, determined to confess his feelings. He tries to come up with a speech, but it feels wrong and sounds weird, and he decides it will be better to improvise. He all but runs to the courtyard to be the first one to greet you. However, when you step out of the carriage, smoothing your dress, and your eyes meet, Aemond stops dead in his tracks and the world around him stands still.
His confidence mightâve blossomed â but not nearly as much as your beauty did. Somehow in those recent months, youâve matured into a woman that takes his breath away.
Itâs not a drastic change, itâs all in the details: the contours of your face are more defined, the cheekbones prominent, your hair knotted up high in a perfect style and even your pace is much slower and gracious. You walk towards one another, both suddenly cautious. But when you are a couple of meters apart, a well-known smile appears on your face and you hold your arms out to him and he finally hugs you again, after all this time. Aemond relaxes, inhaling the familiar scent of fruits that you undoubtedly munched on your way here.
âYou look exactly as I remembered you,â you say as you slip from his embrace.
âAnd you are a sight to behold,â he breathes out, taking you in, and your cheeks heat up at the compliment. Youâve never been shy with him before, so this is also new. He wonders what mightâve caused this change.
As the two of you walk around the castle, it feels a bit awkward at first, and you keep glancing at him with emotion he canât read. But Aemond is too happy to see you to give it much thought, and within an hour you ease into the conversation, too. By the time the evening comes, the tension disappears, and you are laughing at his sarcastic remarks again, and he savors every second of it.
The feast in honor of Aegon is lush and crowded, but you stay by Aemondâs side, enjoying each otherâs company, and he only has eye for you. When the music gets too loud, you sneak out and soon find yourselves in his chambers, just like in the good old days.
Aemond is in the middle of telling you about Aegonâs recent foray to the Flea Bottom, when you say. âItâs just the two of us,â your fingers sink into the fluffy rug. âYou donât have to wear it with me. You know it, right?â
He wears the eyepatch with everyone, only taking it off before going to sleep. Moreover, he actually cherishes it because itâs a gift from you.
Aemond hesitates. âI thought you quite liked it.â
âI only gave it to you because yours started to look like it was pulled off a dead manâs body!â you laugh.
Before he can think of an answer, you lean closer â your shoulder brushing his, your hand touching his face, the same gentle warmth he remembers so well, â and remove the eyepatch yourself. The sight doesnât bother you in the slightest as you confess:
âI accept you the way you are, Aemond,â and then, a moment away from him opening his mouth and saying the thing thatâs been on the tip of his tongue for the duration of the day, you add, âThatâs what friends are for â and you are my best friend.â
And just like that, with this word alone, his plan goes out the window.
A friend. Aemond canât even be upset at the reveal, because, honestly, being your friend feels like a blessing in itself and he wouldnât trade it for the world. How could he be so selfish and foolish to even think about risking it all, risk losing you?
So he keeps his feelings to himself, locking them away deep in his heart, and doesn't argue with you.
Maybe he should have.
5.
By the age of nineteen Aemond reaches the conclusion that he wants to take the risk. Otherwise, he thinks he might actually die as his heart can not hold all his feelings anymore. In two years' time, there isnât a single thing about you that he hasnât come to love, and keeping it a secret becomes harder with each day.
Aemond is ridden with doubts to the point where he canât hide it any longer and he decides to seek advice â and the prince canât think of a better person to talk to than his mother. Unbeknownst to him, Alicent was the first one to notice. Years ago, when you were kids, she quickly sensed the effect you had on her son, and it brought her joy as she watched the two of you get closer with time.
So when Aemond bursts into her room, anxiety radiating off of him as he starts jabbering away, his pacing erratic and voice trembling, it takes her about a minute to realize what's going on.
âMy dear, I think you must talk to her,â she approaches him, an understanding look on her face.
Aemond cuts his speech short, eyeing her with wonder:
âYou donât seem surprised.â
âYour affection for her is as bright as a fire blazing,â Alicent chuckles. âI believe she is the only one who doesnât see it.â
âShould I tell her...?â he doesnât dare say it out loud, not yet.
Alicent briefly takes his hands in hers, squeezing them. âYou should tell her the truth.â
Her encouragement gives him a dash of hope, lifting a weight off his chest. Aemond knows in an instant that the letter wonât cut it, and you must have the conversation face-to-face. Fortunately, your next visit is in a month, so his suffering wonât last for much longer.
Aemond almost reaches the door but then sharply turns to his mother again, his cheeks flushed:
âWill you give me your approval?â and this time, he looks straight at her as he wants to see her genuine reaction.
Alicent smiles, quick to reassure him. âYes, Aemond. Your betrothal would only make me happy.â The prince feels elated, almost euphoric, as he finally goes to meet you and runs the remaining distance from his chambers to the yard. But when he sees you, the smile disappears from his face because he notices that something is wrong.
You look visibly upset, your eyes watering and fingers fumbling with the dress, even though you try to force a smile in return. The hug you give him is weak and you keep looking at your feet.
âWhat is the matter?â heâs never seen you this sad, but you brush him off.
âItâs just a headache, no need to worry.â
Yet thatâs exactly what he does, offering to call for the maester, or to prepare you a warm bath, or bring you some tea...
âA cup of water would be nice, thank you,â he leaves you in the hallway to go and get it himself, the task only takes a couple of minutes. When he returns, you stand with your back to him, your shoulders are shaking â and he hears quiet, muffled sobs. If it wasnât for the nearby table, he wouldâve thrown the cup away, his focus on you alone. As he rushes to envelop you in a hug, you donât fight it, instead nestling your face against his chest, not hiding your tears anymore.
Aemond gives you some time before asking again.
âThis doesnât look like just a headache. What is the cause of your anguish?â now heâs the one running his fingers up and down your back.
You let out a sound thatâs a mix between a groan and a whine.
âMy father says I am to be betrothed soon. He says I am of age already and... and he wants me to meet some of my cousins,â you sniffle. âI told him I have no wish to get married but he refuses to listen,â you bite your lip, not wanting to cry again.
Surely, thatâs not how Aemond wanted to ask you. But he decides to take his chance.
âMayhaps there is another way out that could make you feel better.â
âPlease donât tell me Vhagar will burn them down,â you jest but the smile doesnât reach your eyes. Aemond thinks your idea isnât that bad â but he has to try his first.
âIf he insists you should marry but doesnât have a particular candidate, maybe you can pick one yourself?â
âIâve met all my cousins â and half of them are imbeciles, the others are too old to survive a wedding,â you scoff.
âThen pick someone you are not related to,â Aemond suggests.
âDo you have a particular candidate in mind?â when you ask with a tinge of annoyance, you donât think he will answer. And then you look at him â and see him grinning before he says:
âMeâ.
You glare at Aemond with eyes wide and mouth agape, the expression frozen on your face for a good minute.Â
âAre you laughing at me?â you manage to say.
âI wouldnât dare,â his nerves are as tight as a wound-up string.
In the blink of a moment, your face lights up. You are looking at him indecisively, searching for words, agitated. But Aemond mistakes your confusion for rejection.
âAt the very least you will marry someone you know,â he tries to reason â but it backfires, wiping the joyfulness off your face.
Taken aback, you inquire. âYou pity me?â He doesnât grasp the poor choice of his words yet.
âYou pity me and thatâs why you want to marry me?â you give him a look of disbelief, your eyes glossy, and he canât get his head around what just happened.
âOh, it was so silly of me to think that...,â you choke back a sob, putting your hand over your mouth.
Never in his life he thought he would be the reason for you looking so heartbroken. Aemond covers your hand with his palm â and you let him, as he tries to gather his courage.
âI only meant to say that I ââ
And then you recoil, snapping your hand back.
âAemond, donât,â you take a step back from him, then another one. âYou have said enough. Please, let me be,â you turn away and leave the hall in a hurry before he can utter another word.
... 1.
He finds you at your usual spot, under the blossoming cherry tree. Youâve always said you liked the color of it, little white flowers reminding you of early spring, your favorite time of the year. You donât know that Aemond insisted on planting that tree specifically for you. Just so he can sit nearby and, as you were basking in the sunlight with your eyes closed, he would get a chance to look at you with all his unconditional love and have those moments engraved in his memory.
Come to think of it, he had so many memories of you â and every single one of them was bliss, and he can recall them so easily like it was yesterday.
And so he does.
âWhen we first met, you wore a green dress,â his voice startles you, but you donât turn to face him, sniffling with your arms folded. âIt was the color of forest trees. Black lace around the hem of it, the matching hair ribbon that you kept losing,â he keeps his distance, his hands shaking.
âYes, I remember it pretty well,â you sigh, avoiding his gaze, baffled by his sudden outburst.
âThe second time was when you climbed through my window, almost gave me a heart attack,â thereâs a hint of a smile in his voice that you catch even without looking. âBlue dress, you tore a huge piece of it and couldnât care less. You were the first person to make me laugh in two weeks even though it seemed impossible. But not with you.â
He sees your eyebrows furrowing, hands sliding down to rest on your knees.
âHelaenaâs name day came next, your dress was bright pink. Luke tried to make fun of it and you threw a cup full of water in his face. To this day, itâs one of my fondest memories.â
You dare to look up at him, perplexed, your eyes wet from crying.Â
âThree months after was the light-blue dress, then the peach one and the brown one. Then the white one which didnât survive the horse riding lesson, and Helaena gave you one of hers. Light green, too long for your liking, even though you pretended otherwise to please her,â the corners of your lips tremble, your face softening.
âThen for a year you only wore violet, much to your nannyâs dismay as she thought it made you look ill. And I thought you were the prettiest girl Iâve ever seen, no matter what dress you were in,â he canât take his eye off you.
Your face expression melts into a stunned one.
âI didnât realize it back then. Or maybe I didnât know how to call it. I just knew that your visits only brought me happiness,â he takes a step toward you, uncertain, but you donât move from your spot.
âWhen you were fourteen, you picked the autumn colors â orange, dark yellow, deep red. Your started braiding your hair, tried to braid mine,â you canât hold back a smile. He was fussy when you first voiced the idea but he ended up loving the process so much, he would allow it just to feel your fingers flowing through his hair.
âI think you actually enjoyed it,â you mumble, and Aemond smiles, too.
âI did. I enjoyed every minute that I got to spend with you.â
You stand up then, feeling your pulse quickening.
âThe day you brought me the eyepatch, you wore emerald green. I was terrified to show you the scar,â he pauses, catching his breath. âYou assuaged my fears with your kindness. But then I was terrified to learn that I wanted to kiss you.â
You think you are dreaming. Is it possible that you fell asleep under the tree? You donât want to get your hopes too high, but when he looks at you like this, your own fears start melting away.
âThen was the black dress, the grey one, another white one. The golden one you wore to meet Vhagar,â when he saw you that day, he almost forgot how to breathe. You showed no sigh of apprehension as you fearlessly approached the dragon. He was absolutely besotted.
âAnd then came the agony of not seeing you for over seven months,â he closes his eye for a second, overwhelmed. He almost misses it when you speak:
âSeven months and twenty-five days. Not that I was counting,â his eye snaps open, instantly on you again.
You gravitate toward each other without even noticing. Aemondâs heart skips a beat when youâre at armâs length, your eyes shining and lips slightly parted. Even in the state youâre in, you look so beautiful, itâs mesmerizing, and the words are stuck in his throat. You are the one to break the silence.
âAemond, please don't give me false hope,â your heartbeat is too loud, you donât hear your own voice. He does.
âI do not wish to marry you out of pity,â Aemond takes the last step. âI want you to be my wife because I am in love with you,â he wipes away the remaining tears off your face, his fingers linger, making you shiver. âIâve been in love with you for quite some time. For a few years, actually,â his voice gets low. âFor what feels like an eternity,â Aemond murmurs.
âWhy havenât you told me?â you pout, nervously toying with the collar of his shirt.
âI was afraid you didnât feel the same. I still am but maybe... Maybe I am wrong?â his gaze is fixed on you, one of his hands following the contour of your waist, your body warming at the touch.
âTell me that I am wrong,â he whispers, begging.
You look at his lips, the soft curve of them that youâve dreamt of for so long.
Aemond always thought yours were the most kissable heâs ever seen.
You donât know who closes the distance first â but his mouth is suddenly on yours and the sensation leaves you disarmed. Kissing him is like being swept with a wave of tenderness, and youâre floating in it, his lips so fervid and supple â truly perfect â your head is spinning. The kiss is not awkward nor modest as you hastily cling to each other, his hands gripping your waist, your chest pressed into his.
Aemond feels like heâs drowning, and he wants more of you â all of you, and then your fingers tug at his locks, eliciting a groan from him, and it is simply a miracle that his heart doesnât explode. You move in impeccable sync, in the passionate harmony that erupts from years worth of mutual pining. His lungs burn but he resists the urge to break the kiss and stretches it out the best he can until you are breathless, too.
âNever knew that you were so fascinated by my wardrobe choices,â you tease, and his hum turns into a chuckle.
âYou know what my favorite memory is?â you ask, your forehead resting against his.
âWhen we were ten-and-three, and you were teaching me how to hold a sword. I tackled you to the ground and scraped my knee,â you both smile at your then enthusiasm. âAnd you set everything aside to spend the rest of the day with me even though it was hardly a wound. And I remember thinking,â you hook your finger under his chin, âthat thereâs nowhere else I would rather be than with you, with this favorite boy of mine.â
The air around you is tense, and you are enchanted by each other.
âDid that help to prove you wrong?â
âI may need some convincing,â his breath fans over your lips.
âYou can take your time,â you laugh â and then the sound of it is muffled by his athirst mouth. His favorite memory will be this.
And every other moment with you thatâs to come.
authorâs note: Iâm sorry if this came out messy and rushed. I tried my best to write a shorter fic (this is short for me lmao) and idk how I feel about it. I much rather prefer them longer because Iâm a sucker for stories about two people getting to know each other and falling in love BUT I get it that others donât want to read long ass fics (which kinda breaks my heart but I'm being so very brave about it) anyways, thank you for reading! đ the longer version of this fic might have looked like this (yes, this is a shameless plug! because I adore this one to pieces!! bite me) đľÂ the title is a quote from Elvis Presleyâs song (duh). there are quite a few covers of it but one of my favorites is by Twenty One Pilots. thereâs also a female version â by Ingrid Michaelson â and I think both of them fit the story really well. đ my masterlist P.S. Iâm also on AO3 (lol, who isnât), in case you prefer to read fics there.

âThe Kind of Person I Wanted Back Thenâ
(Had a burst of inspiration thanks to @havanillas art of Aventurine with a baby, so have this angsty-yet-hopeful Drabble! Enjoy?)
Aventurine knew his place; he was a tool for the Strategic Investment Department to deploy in situations deemed too risky or underhanded for any of the other Stonehearts. He was basically disposable, a pawn who was nevertheless useful if he could turn the tides at a pivotal moment. So it came as little surprise when Diamond sent him to once again âofferâ the IPCâs aid to a particularly stubborn border planet that refused to ally with the Amber Lord against the Antimatter Legion.
Even from orbit, Aventurine saw the scorched craters where once-thriving cities stood, though the sight couldnât hold a candle to the devastation he witnessed firsthand in his opinion. Of course, he would offer his sympathies or condolences when he met with their leader, but he wouldnât sugarcoat anything. If Diamond thought a gentle touch would get through their thick skulls, then he wouldâve sent Topaz.
The negotiation went about as well as expected. Their leader was a tough, old soldier, determined to maintain his peopleâs independence. However, Aventurine had seen enough of the crumbling masonry and hastily-set tents along the outskirts to sense the cracks in the manâs resolve.
âGive the IPC a controlling share in the planetâs geothermal energy market, and youâll have the Preservationâs protection.â The words burned his tongue, bitter and acrid.
Like they should have protected the AvginâŚ
Aventurine left the meeting having given the leader a few offers to ponder and many possibilities to chew on. He was certain theyâd come around and agree to the IPCâs terms. Eventually, everyone did.
There were few casinos still operating within the city, having lost most of their clientele to leisure activities less reliant on luck. A shame, Aventurine thought, and so he returned to the small space-port, texting Stelle to pester her into playing online poker. They were two hands deep when a laser-scorched shuttle made an abrupt landing nearby.
Dozens of injured civilians and soldiers rushed out. Aventurine hung back, keeping out of their way as they undoubtedly hurried to the nearest hospital or, more likely, a first aid kit. He tried not to think of how powerless he was right then. For all his wealth, he couldnât actually protect anyone. Only the IPC could wield that kind of power, and he was little more than their puppet.
With a heavy-hearted sigh, Aventurine tried to turn his attention back to his game, but a lone figure lagging behind the rest of the refugees caught his gaze first. It was a small child, his awkward gait a sign that he had just barely learned to walk. He stumbled about aimlessly, his wide eyes watery and darting everywhere. Before a single thought formed in his head, Aventurine had already pocketed his phone and strode over to the confused child.
The instant the child saw Aventurine approaching him, he abandoned his wandering and stumbled as fast as his little legs could carry him towards the only adult who even seemed to notice him. Aventurine knelt down in front of the kid, his heart nearly stopping as he saw his eyes clearly, with the distinctly two-colored irises of a Sigonian.
âWhere are yourâ?â Aventurine started, but his question would have to wait as the kid slammed into his chest, clawing at his waistcoat and sobbing as only a frightened child could.
Whatever questions Aventurine had could wait. He slowly brought his hands up and wrapped the poor kid in an awkward hug. He wasnât supposed to be the one who offered comfort, shouldnât be the one people trusted. Wasnât supposed to be a person, just a tool, a pawn. And yet this kid was clinging to him like a lifeline. The least Aventurine could do was give him reassurance in return.
He patted the kidâs head, speaking softly until his tears dried and his breathing grew steady. Only then did Aventurine lift him into his arms, whispering a comforting lie as he returned to the city,
âNow, letâs go find your parents.â
Hours later, and Aventurine had the answer heâd known all along. The kidâs parents were dead, and no one would take him in. Of course they wouldnât; why would anyone take in a Sigonian? To do so would be asking to invite a future thief and liar into oneâs house.
But Aventurine was already a liar. A murder. A loser.
As the kid fell asleep in his arms, Aventurine returned to his ship, shutting himself away from the prying eyes of his subordinates. He sat down in the first chair he saw and finally let his own tears fall.
âIâll take care of you,â he swore with all the kindness and tenderness that remained in his scarred heart. âI wonât leave you to fend for yourself. Iâll protect you⌠I promise.â
And he meant it.

Part 1 / Part 2
Emmet remembers when he and Ingo first brought Elesa to explore Celestial Tower, back when they were fourteen and thought they were immortal.
âAllegedly, the bell chime will bring ghosts homeâ, ingo had told emmet with the pompous knowing energy of a child who read way too much brochures. âItâs culturally significant! We must ring it.â
âHmmm,â emmet had responded suspiciously. âBrother. The bell is at the top of the tower.â The implication stands: Ingo, there are thirty flights of stairs between here and the top, and no elevator to speak of.
Donât be a coward, Litwick had told Emmet with the blaise tone of somebody whoâs going to be piggy backing off of somebody else. Go ring the bell. Tynamo, sensing a litten fight, floated towards a loitering blitzle.
Ingo turns his lilipup eyes on Elesa, whoâs squinting at the carved stone faces of the front door.
âElesa? What do you think?â
Elesa thinks. She shrugs. âWe already made our way here,â she said in accented galarian. âMight as well make it the rest of the way. Ganbatte!â
Emmet sighs. âThis is a mistake,â he tells the two in exhaustive patience, but lets himself be dragged into the building.
Last time the twins were here, Ingo caught litwickâ but not before she managed to nab a good chunk of Emmetâs soul. Itâs not terrible; he felt fatigued for a week and bounced back pretty quickly, but it was the principle of the whole situationâ celestial towerâs a pain in the ass and Emmet will stand by that until the day he dies.
Like right now.
The map isnât working. Emmet checked it once. Heâs checked it twice. Heâs taken out his pen and written on it, which he would usually never do but desperate times call for desperate measures. The compass he brought spins useless circles. Itâs like chargestone cave up here, but worse because instead if electric pokemon itâs all ghosts.
âWeâre lost, yyup yup!â He announced to the crew. âI vote we eat Ingo first.â
âI love you too,â Ingo told Emmet placidly. âBut we all know between the two of us, youâre the tastier one.â Litwick gives Emmet a thumbs up. Emmet gasps in mock affront.
âElesa, help!â
Elesa gives the two of them a wary look. It took two floors for her to realize this is not just a weird temple with strange rocks, but a full out graveyard. Sheâs not very happy about that development.
âDonât drag me into this,â she tells them. âTeme wa urusaii.â
âI will take that as a compliment,â Ingo reports back.
Emmet, whoâs cheerfully struggles with Galarian on a good day, simply gives her a thumbs up.
The three painstakingly crawl their way up. And up. If all else fails, Emmet told himself, at least they can orient themselves towards high ground.
âWeâre like pidoves,â Ingo gasps. He has fallen behind them on the stairs, with Emmet taking the lead through sheer spite despite his legs going numb on floor twenty two. âWe, hah, we are attracted by the magnet of the bell, like, like probopass-â
âI am emmet! You are not making, sense!â Emmet called back. Elesa, whoâs stuck between them and looking two steps from perpetual collapse, giggles.
âNo, no hear me out, Ingo wheezes. âWhat if the bellâs a magnetic pole? And thatâs why your compass doesnât wo, woo, hahh, work.â
Emmet stops to rest, just because Ingo is using precious breathing air to infodump. Elesa gratefully slumps against the railing. Tynamo and litwick, lazy in their still small size, have settled on a weary blitzle and look very smug doing so. (Emmet is not jealous, he tells himself. Emmet is also lying.)
âThe bellâs important,â Ingo had repeated.
âOkay,â Elesa responds. âIf itâs important to you, then itâs important to us.â
And Emmet finds that he agrees with Elesa. Partially because they crawled up twenty fucking three flights of stairs, but also because Ingo thinks this is important, so it is.
And hereâs the thingâ
â emmet doesnât remember much after that.
The rest of that trip was a blur of exhausted groaning and burning legs, and by the time the trio managed to breach floor thirty, peopleâs brains have all but dribbled out their ears. Emmet remembers being disgustingly sweaty. He remembers blitzle almost tripping to death and litwickâs swearing. He remembers tynamo sticking to his neck like a damp towel. He remembers Ingoâs excited sneasel smile, and the way the sunset bounced off of Elesaâs hair.
He remembers the brassy ring of the Celestial bell. It sounded like victory.
But it was Elesaâs cackle turned scream as Ingo swiped cold hands down her neck that sounded like home.
â-
So when the conductor at thirty one, lost and disoriented in the Impossible Place, heard the sound of a familiar bell, ringing over and over and over-
-the sound of laughter-
-EMMET! Elesa cried-
-like a homing pidove, the conductor, thinks nonsensically as something in him perks up.
(Emmet had always liked winning, more than anything else, and the sound of victory calls him home.)
â
Elesa catches lightning in a bottle. Elesa, arms outstretched, finds purchase in her brother, and does not let go.
Emmet is so, so cold, Elesa thinks as the wind steals air from her lungs. (Thatâs okay. Sheâs already breathless from a terrible business called hope.)
Emmet stares back. His hands flap against Elesaâs jacket. Elesa desperately drinks in his wan face and too wide eyes and his frost bitten lips. In a tiny, meek voice, almost lost to the wind, he asks:
âAre you real?â
Elesa lets out an ugly sob. Her tears whip away in the wind as they fall. Emmetâs frightened countenance turns immediately to alarm. His shaky grasp becomes a solid grip as they spin through the air, cushioned by chandelureâs psychic.
âI think so??â Elesa warbles. She sees Emmetâs eyes dart to her mouth. Heâs reading mirroring her, she realizes with giddy delightâ itâs such an Emmet thing to do, to read lips, and-
âI am Emmet,â Emmet breathes. His eyes have started to water. âYyou are Elesa- Oh dragons, Elesa!?â
Elesa reaches. Hesitates.
Emmet grabs elesa by the lapels and crushes her tight against him. Elesa holds on, and the grief and relief in her accumulates into a wet sopping mess. Sheâs ruining his jacket, she mourns, but its okay because heâs dripping all over hers.
She canât hear what heâs saying into her shoulder, canât read what he says, but everythingâs okay because every part of her is chiming
You came back
Youâre here
Iâm not alone anymore.
Around them, the air distorts as Chandelureâs psychic wavers, flutters, and solidifies. Gravity reverses its call as they settle gently on the ground, dust billowing in all directions.
The ghost pokemon drops next to them, shaking so hard the musical clang of glass makes Elesa flinch.
You fucks, Chandelure gasps. DONâT GO LEAPING OFF BUILDINGS, I AM NOT YOUR EMERGENCY PARACHUTE.
âIâm sorry,â Elesa gasps, still giddy from the adrenaline.
AND YOU! Chandelure howls, whirling on Emmet, whoâs still staring at the ghost with huge eyes. Heâs gripping on to solid ground with the energy of a man who realized he could have been a splat on the ground.
YOU LEFT!
Emmet winces.
You- You left us, you left me-
Ah, ah no, Elesa thinks as golden globules of light shed from Chandelure. This is what a ghost looks like crying.
Emmet holds out his arms. Chandelure drifts into his embrace, and shakes, and shakes, and shakes.
You left me, the ghost pokemon whispers. How dare you. How could you.
âI didnât mean to,â Emmet whispers. âIâm sorry.â
Stop doing this to me, Chandelure demands. Golden brine joins human tears, like drops of sun trapped in wet glass. Stop going where I can not follow.
And Emmet holds his tongue, because he knows he can not promise staying. Not while Ingo and Eelektross are still in Hisui.
(In the back of Emmetâs hurt and shattered mind is a spark. Synapses connect. The cold breach of the Distortion does nothing to drown out the sudden flare of hope in Emmetâs chest, so great he can not breathe, so strong he can not feel, because thereâs a path. A difficult, painful path through the Space that Can Not Be, but a path all the same.)
âElesa, Chandelure-â Emmetâs voice breaks. He wants to tell them about Eelektross. He wants to tell them about the terrible past that is Hisui. He wants to explain how the last five months were filled with horror and wonder and fear and hope.
Hope, he thinks. So he says this:
âI know how to get Ingo home.â

The Dilemma of a Rubber Duck
Alastor x Reader (Queer-Platonic) ft. Bestie Lucifer
(TW: Mentions of depression, mentions of suicide attempts)
You knew Alastor didnât like Lucifer. You werenât 100% sure why, only that the King of Hell really got on Alastorâs nerves. Ever since Lucifer had moved into the hotel in the aftermath of the battle with the angels, Alastor had spent hours ranting and raving to you about him. They were constantly trying to one-up each other. It was comical, really.
Except that you were stuck in the middle of it.Â
Unlike Alastor, you and Lucifer had hit it off right away, getting along like two peas in a pod. There was a certain camaraderie that came with being clinically depressed and still having to force a smile, which both you and Lucifer were experts at. Many late nights had been spent exchanging stories and finding humor in things other people might not otherwise find humorous.Â
(âI tried to kill myself twice, and then end up getting hit by a car! Thatâs how I end up in Hell? What did I do all that work for?â That was the first time that story had been met with laughter, and that was when you knew Lucifer was a good guy.)
You were constantly thinking about how Alastor would react to knowing you enjoyed hanging out with Lucifer, or vice versa. It worried you to no end, so you tried to keep your friendship with Lucifer under wraps, for Alastorâs sake. He needed someone to back him up, and you wanted to be that person. You wanted Alastor to know he could trust you.
One evening, you and Lucifer were talking in the parlor, drinking tea. Alastor was out for a fancy Overlord meeting, so you were able to relax a bit.Â
âIâm so glad we have Niffty around,â you were saying. âSometimes I just canât find the energy to do my laundry, but I know that if I leave it on the floor, sheâll take care of it right away.â You thought for a moment. âItâs not like Iâm forcing her to do it. Or taking advantage of her. Right?â
âNah, I thought cleaning was her job,â Lucifer reassured. âMy loophole with that is all my outfits are the same. Also magic. Magic is very helpful.â
âMan, Iâm jealous!â You gave a lighthearted groan. âI wish I could have magic like that.â
âWhoâs saying you canât?â Lucifer shrugged, sipping at his tea.Â
You snorted. âHave you seen me? Do I look like Overlord material to you?â
âI didnât think Mr. Crimson Asshole was an Overlord, so looks arenât everything.â Lucifer hesitated. âOh, shit, I shouldnât have said it like that. You two are like, dating, right?â
You made a âfifty-fiftyâ gesture with your hand. âEh⌠Not really? Itâs like⌠a mutual relationship. Neither of us are the âdatingâ type, so we just kind of⌠vibe. But itâs fine, I get it. You should hear the things he says about you.â
âOh?â Lucifer leaned forward, curious. You mimed zipping your lips, grinning playfully. âAlrighty then, keep your secrets.â
The feeling of guilt youâd been getting used to returned, but you smiled past it. If there was anything Alastor taught you, it was that you could hide everyone behind a smile. And it worked, for the most part. The only person whoâd ever been able to see though it was Alastor himself. Similarly, you were the only person able to see through his ever-present smile.
Setting his cup down, Lucifer waited for a lull in the conversation. âBefore I forget, I have something for you.â With a wave of his hand, a little yellow rubber duck appeared in his palm. Its features and markings made it resemble you.Â
Eyes wide, you carefully took the duck from his hands like it were an actual duckling.
âThis one doesnât breathe fire or anything, butâŚâ Lucifer paused, like he was struggling for words. âI haven't had a real friend in⌠a really long time. S-so I wanted to thank you. For that.â
You were at a loss for words. The only other person to get you gifts since youâd died had been Alastor. That feeling of guilt hit you like a train, but it was masked with a bright, grateful smile.
âLucifer, I⌠Iâm honored. Thank you.â You struggled to tear your eyes away from the duck. âCan I hug you?â
Instead of replying, Lucifer pulled you out of your chair, hugging you close. You matched it, hoping your appreciation for his existence was properly conveyed.
âAhem.â
You and Lucifer pushed each other apart like a teenage couple caught making out. Alastor was standing in the entrance to the parlor, teeth bared. His grin was sharp, borderline violent, and his eyes were narrowed.Â
âAl,â you tried, but no other words followed.
Then Alastor sighed, and the murderous look in his eyes disappeared. You were still holding the duck Lucifer had given you. Looking down, you realized you were shaking, and felt a little faint.Â
You stumbled back, right into Alastorâs arms. Head spinning, you allowed him to set you down on the chair. Alastor kept a hand on your arm, watching your every movement with surgical focus. He knew, you realized. He knew how guilty you felt, how much anxiety it was causing you. How long heâd known, you had no idea, but you could feel it in the way he wouldnât let you go. You didnât want him to let you go.Â
âAre you okay?â Lucifer looked frantic, obviously worried. âDo you need water? Something to eat? Medicine? Iâm sure thereâs some around here somewhere, if you just give me a minuteââ
âIâm fine,â you interrupted, trying to muster a smile. You failed. How Alastor held his grin all day, every day, was a mystery to you. âWell, okay, maybe not fine.â
âThey could use water,â Alastor provided, only a slight edge in his voice. Nodding, Lucifer ran off to get a glass of water, leaving you and Alastor alone in the parlor.Â
Alastor was silent for a moment. You could tell he was trying to figure out what to say. âI apologize for not noticing your anxiety sooner.â A little joy fluttered in your chest. Alastor enjoyed watching everyoneâs sufferingâeveryone except for you.
âItâs not your fault,â you told him. âI shouldâve been more upfront. I justâŚâ You were still a little shaky. Alastorâs hand moved so it rested over your hand. The rubber duck was still in your other hand, and you turned it over with your fingers, fidgeting with it. âI didnât want you to leave me.â
âNow that is nonsense if I ever heard any!â Alastor laughed. âWhat a ridiculous sentiment, my dear. It would take more than that to take me from you, I assure you.â
âBut I know how much you hate him.â You looked towards the direction Lucifer had gone. âYou hate that heâs here. You hate that heâs meddling. And this is just another reason to hate him.â
Alastor was contemplating his words again when Lucifer came back. He gently handed you the glass of water, causing you to have to put your duck down. Alastor was right to ask for itâthe water helped. The air was tense as Lucifer and Alastor glared at one another while also keeping an eye on you.Â
âWhen you are happy, I am happy,â Alastor said out of the blue. Both you and Lucifer looked to him for clarification. âIf talking with Lucifer makes you happyâŚâ Alastor swallowed, gritting his teeth, glowering deeply at Lucifer, âthen, by that logic, it makes me happy.â
âHey, same here.â Lucifer put his arms up symbolically. âIâm not gonna leave my friend just because I hate their boyfriendâ er, whatever you are, that is.â
âPartner,â you and Alastor said in unison.
âRight. That.âÂ
The air was still tense, but it made you feel better knowing that Alastor and Lucifer wouldnât be fighting over you, at the very least.Â
âOkay,â you said suddenly, having finished your water. âIâm going to bed. Thanks again for the duck, Lucifer.â
You barely heard Alastor growl at Lucifer upon realizing that heâd given you a gift, but it just caused you to smile fondly. Alastor was quick to step in beside you, taking your arm to escort you up to your room.Â
âYouâre welcome!â Lucifer called back. âBut donât think that just because you and Alastor are partners that Iâll make one for him too!â You had to stifle a laugh. Lucifer was too sweet for his own good, no matter how awkward it made him seem.
You turned so Lucifer could see your grin. âWouldnât dream of it.â

imagine being a kindergarten teacher who meets reid
maybe its thru JJ, maybe you've got Henry in your class, and she kindly, warmly strikes a friendship with you after Henry moves into 1st grade. and its a little unorthodox but jj and her husband are always willing to help out (when their schedules can allow) with school events and so yeah, you become friends.
and when jj introduces you to her friends/colleagues - there is of course a little bit of an intimidation factor (because hello...they are fbi) but penelope makes you feel so welcome (because of course she does. and you tell her your students would love her. and she offers to teach a tech class and youre like ok they're five but yes let's do it) and morgan shamelessly flirting, and emily being hot and intimidating and then there's reid, quiet, awkward, wont-shake-your-hand reid.
but there's something to it - a mutual nerdiness, perhaps, or how reid doesn't make you feel "stupid" just because you're an elementary school teacher and not a professor at a college (despite the fact that in many places you need a least a master's to teach).
imagine weeks later when you run into reid at the coffee shop. completely random. the sky is gray, uninteresting, and promising rain. he surprises you by remembering your name before there's a shy yet earnest quip when he says he's got an "eidetic memory." and you laugh warmly and spencer thinks its one of the best sounds he's heard all morning.
and it goes slowly from there, but it moves naturally, like a caterpillar forming its chrysalis
(when you tell reid this, somewhere after the 4 month mark since you've long stopped counting individual dates, he says; "did you know the word comes from the greek word 'khrusos' - which means gold - because of the gold color or metallic sheen of some pupae".
and in that moment, that singular moment, you admire the honey-gold tint of his eyes in the late afternoon sun spilling luminescence across the sidewalks and across shiny car windshields and think that you could already see the shape and color of whatever butterfly that was going to burst from its cocoon).
one time you refused to come over his apartment because "the kids used glitter today" and you didn't want to get it all over his place. so he came over instead, and you watched the iridescent sparkles swirl down the bathtub drain together.
imagine spencer reid laying his head in your lap, something heavy and unspoken between you, shaped in the spread of his fingers across your hips, in the erratic pulse of his heart pressing into your shins
the school doesn't celebrate Halloween, but they have an annual "trunk or treat" where people CAN dress up and trick-or-treat out of the trunks of their cars and spencer starts helping you, decorating the trunk with fake cobwebs, and skulls, and eventually diving into convoluted themes that you're not convinced kids aged 5-10 are totally going to get.
"it's jaws." he says, holding a shark head made of paper mache, "you know, the 1975 film? you said we couldn't do slasher horror movies because they're too gory for the kids but i'd argue that this movie stands alone as a great horror film with how Spielberg creates consistent tension throughout the whole film considering we don't see the shark until an hour and twenty-one minutes into the run time."
(the kids don't really get it, it's true. "sharks aren't monsters." they would say, or "sharks aren't scary." or "is this from Baby Shark?" but you and spencer have fun, passing out candy, sharing small looks to each other--so that makes it all worth it).
imagine something soft, sweet, something quiet shared over coffee with spencer. something gentle amidst all the chaos, the heartache, and stress of his day-to-day job.
"I don't know how you do it," you tell him, "seeing the worst of what the world has to offer day in and day out."
his long fingers stroke the underside of your jaw, "i don't know how you manage a room full of fifteen 5 and 6-year-olds." he pulls a face. "especially with the germs."
imagine bringing spencer lunch at the office - earning the knowing, sly looks from his friends and team, knowing you can't hide against a room full of profilers and knowing it doesn't really matter anyways.
:) ok that's all i got. <3

DP x DC PROMPT/FIC
Gotham Portal
(If you get the notif for this post like 2 days ago, no you didn't! I wasn't done yet! You were imagining things!)
Where the story takes place in Gotham instead of Amity Park, the Fentons having moved before the construction and testing of the Ghost portal due to the high saturation of ectoplasm in Gotham. So, Danny's accident ALSO happens in Gotham, except he has no support system at all.
Enter the Bats stage left!
Danny couldn't believe he'd been so stupid. His parents had uprooted their whole life to move to Gotham. They said they'd need all the ambient ectoplasm there for when they built their portal. Jazz had been thrilled! After all, Arkham was a shining beacon of mentally ill people, and Jazz was like a psychology moth to a flame; it would be the perfect place for her internship after college.
His parents had wasted no time assembling the portal from their blueprints in the basement of the run-down apartment building they'd bought outright just on the edge of Crime Alley, complete with the Ops Center parked right on top. They'd gutted the place and completely redone it before they moved in. (Danny had no idea when they accomplished that. Maybe they'd been planning it for a while and only thought to tell their children two weeks before moving day.) He was genuinely surprised the local vigilantes hadn't stopped by yet to ask questions.
But anyway, back to how he was royally screwed! He'd just wanted a cool picture for Sam and Tucker now that he'd moved away. His parents weren't home (they'd gone back to the hardware store after their last test), Jazz had stayed after school to try and butter up her new teachers by running a study group, and he'd been alone. He'd even followed all the safety precautions his parents had told him about! He'd put on the hazmat suit and tried not to touch anything. But he'd tripped.
Through the whirling of green and the static buzzing in his ears, he remembered screaming, though he hadn't recognized it as his own. Every nerve in his body was on fire, and he just wanted it to stop. Stop, please stop, why won't someone save me, please!
He woke up to the smell of burning flesh, but he woke up. He was okay! Disoriented, a little disgusted by the smell and throat a little raw, but okay!
At least he'd thought so at first.
He'd begun to... change colors? And float, he floated sometimes, too. But the most irritating of all was that he would go through things. Forks and glasses slipping, quite literally, right through his fingers.
He hadn't told his parents. He'd been fine, after all. A little shaken up, but they'd been so excited he'd gotten the portal to work, who was he to put a damper on the mood when he was fine?
That brought him to now, staring at the mirror in the school bathroom in horror. He'd fought his first real ghost that morning around breakfast. He'd kept it together fairly well, in his opinion. Got through three whole classes before making an excuse to the teacher, slipping off into the blessedly empty restroom.
He'd been getting better and better at controlling his form, and he transformed in front of the mirror, taking stock of his appearance.
Odd colored hair: check.
Bright glowing eyes: check.
Floaty hair: check.
Could walk through walls, disappear, and fly: check.
He raised his finger to his pulse point and felt... nothing.
"I died," he whispered to himself in shock. "I... died," he repeated, this time in despair.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Damian Wayne was not usually one to keep tabs on his classmates. They weren't his friends, therefore he saw no point. However, the new kid, Daniel Fenton, had begun to act strange.
When Daniel Fenton enrolled in Gotham Academy it hadn't been anything special. He'd started the year a little last due to his family moving, but families moved for all sorts of reasons. He hadn't tried to immediately make friends with Damian like so many others had, much to his relief. But he hadn't tried to make friends with anyone else, either. Maybe he liked to be alone? It really wasn't his business.
But then the boy started getting skittish and clumsy. Clumsier than he had been when he started school. He'd developed a miniscule tremor in his left hand, so he'd probably sustained an injury. He began dropping things in Chemistry. So often, in fact, that he'd been banned from doing practical labs and was instead assigned extra book work.
If Damian had been anyone else, if he hadn't been raised by assassins or had his night work as Robin, he wouldn't have noticed. He wouldn't have followed Fenton to the bathroom under the guise of needing to see the school nurse for a headache. Perhaps if he were anyone else, Fenton might have noticed him following.
There was an alarming flash of light as Damian peered carefully around the corner. Fenton had changed forms. Something had happened to him.
"I died," he heard him say. Damian thought he was being dramatic until he watched him raise his fingers to his pulse point. His glowing eyes dilated in panic, and he repeated himself. He watched as his classmate, looking fragile and lost, curled in on himself floating in the air, and sobbed.
Damian didn't confront him that day. He watched, waited, and researched. He found the research of Dr's Fenton on ghosts and ectoplasm, most of which he was skeptical of up until actual ghosts started to torment them during patrols.
Ghosts were real, it appeared.
He also concluded that their findings on ectoplasmic entities being non-sentient and inherently malevolent was incorrect, having met the ghost of a little girl caught up in a rouge attack that killed her and her family.
Damian watched Daniel Fenton for about a week while he ditched class in a poorly hidden effort to fight and contain the ghosts that he and his family were having such a hard time dealing with. His father was even nearly considering contacting John Constantine, which was never his ideal solution. Damian had been rolling an idea around in his head for a while and he decided now would be the time to bring it up.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dinner at the manor was more of a full table than Damian had expected. Not everyone was there, Jason's relationship with them was still a bit strained, so he was not in attendance, and neither was Stephanie. But Duke was home, and Dick was actually there early for patrol later. Tim was there, and so was Cass, so almost everyone.
"Ahem," he cleared his throat politely. "Father, I wish to recruit a new member."
The chatter around the room came to a halt, the clatter of silverware ceasing.
"What exactly do you mean, chum?" Bruce asked carefully.
"I have a classmate I believe would be a valuable asset in light of our trouble with ghosts recently. However, he has no training or support, so I'm asking for your assistance."
"Did... demon brat make a friend?" Tim asked bewildered and a little bit terrified.
"Tt. No, I've never even spoken to him." Damian rolled his eyes. "My classmate, Daniel Fenton, transferred to Gotham Academy about a month ago and started acting strange soon after. He came to school with a tremor and a Lichtenberg figure you can just barely see starting on his left hand and traveling up his arm. I believed he'd been in an accident, and my suspicions were proven when I saw him use meta abilities to ditch class and fight a ghost in the courtyard of the school. From my observations, they are newly acquired, but he has decent instincts and an inclination toward heroism. I believe it would be safer for everyone involved if we approached him first."
"What?" Tim muttered. Dick was smiling gently at him, though, as if he were doing something he was proud of.
"Do his parents know?" Duke asked. Damian scoffed.
"I highly doubt it."
"Wait, Fenton as in the ectobiologists?" Bruce asked. The ex-assassin nodded.
"And considering their research is not reflected in our own interactions with ghosts thus far, I do not believe we should tell them."
"Not safe?" Cass signed. Her brother shook his head.
"The abilities I've observed resemble that of a ghost. He even has an alternate ghostly form."
The implication that they'd be endangering him hung heavy in the air. They'd all seen the Fentons' research. It mostly consisted of theoretical analysis and blatant biases with a long list of proposed experiments they'd run if they ever caught one. They'd all agreed that the Fenton ghost hunters were not a viable option for their ghost problem, especially after seeing how they drove, which in itself nearly put them on the Bat's rogue list.
"We've been meaning to investigate the Fentons properly anyways," Dick pointed out.
Bruce attempted to massage a headache out of his temples. The stuff his kids stumbled into, really. But Damian was right. If his classmate was a new meta with no support, it was only a matter of time before the rogues zeroed in on him, and since his family lived there, he couldn't tell the kid to leave.
"I'm not saying yes just yet, but talk to him. Find out any more that you can."
"Of course, Father."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Danny finally felt like he was getting the hang of his ghost powers. He was pleasantly surprised, and also mildly horrified, that his parents' inventions actually worked on the ghosts he was now beginning to fight regularly. His favorite was by far the thermos, which did no ghost mutilating whatsoever.
He discovered he had a ghost sense and enhanced hearing and vision, which was cool and all, but now he could hear all the shitty things his classmates said about him behind his back. Which, rude! He didn't even talk to them, what did they have to be shitty about?
He also noticed that one of them, Damian Wayne, had been watching him. From what Danny had heard, Damian was the richest kid in school, a Wayne. Son of billionaire Bruce Wayne, to be exact. And his attitude reflected that. His standoffish, holier than thou rich guy attitude made Dash and Paulina look like they lived below the poverty line. Apparently, he generally didn't talk to anyone at school unless it pertained to class, so Danny saw no point in introducing himself.
That made it extra weird that Damian was following him.
It was right after lunch when a hiccup had a cold breath tumbling from his lips. He raised his hand and asked his teacher if he could use the restroom. He made his way to the bathroom on the other side of the building this time, hoping it would be too out of the way for Damian to follow. But soft rustling of his classmate's school uniform gave him away, no matter how imperceptible his footsteps were.
When he entered the restroom, he made his way to the sink instead, splashing some cold water on his face as Damian walked in behind him loudly as if announcing his presence.
"I know what you've been doing," he said confidently, crossing his arms and standing in front of the door so Danny couldn't leave.
"Oh, hey! Damian, right? I'm in most of your classes, but I don't think I've ever introduced myself. I'm-"
"Daniel Fenton, I know. You've been fighting ghosts." Damian had to give him at least a little credit; he'd become a great actor over the last week. Though, that probably had a lot to do with the fact that he probably didn't feel safe at home anymore.
"My parents are ghost hunters, but I don't think shooting a ghost in the face with a lipstick laser then running for my life counts as 'fighting ghosts'."
"Tt. You are lying."
"Dude, what are-?" Danny cut himself off when his words came with another misty breath. Crap! He'd taken too long!
The ghost of the day, an ugly, mutated, bird looking thing with claws at the ends of its wings and a full set of dangerous, pointed teeth, phased through the door behind Damian, poised to strike.
Without warning, Danny grabbed Damian's wrist and whipped him out of the way, throwing himself between the two. A green shield formed in front of him just as the bird slashed at them with one of its wings.
"Well, that's new," he said startled as the bird geared up for another attack.
Danny groaned at his miserable luck before throwing caution to the wind and transforming. He'd just have to force friendship upon one Damian Wayne in an attempt to keep him from telling anyone about his whole magical girl transformation. He tried to activate his shield again, but when nothing happened, he was flung across the room into the wall. God, this was embarrassing.
The next time the ghost tried to attack him, Damian yanked him aside in a dodge and bolted out of the bathroom with Danny in tow. He was dragged through the winding halls to one of the side exits of the school. In costume or not, Damian's priority was luring the ghost away from the other students.
"Hey, so uh, you won't say anything about this," he gestured wildly to himself, "will you?"
"Tt. Of course not, but I believe you have more important concerns at the moment."
âRight!â Danny patted at the sides of his hazmat suit. âCrap, I left my thermos in my locker!â He dodged another attack and retaliated with an ectoblast, trying to keep the ghost's attention off of Damian as much as possible.
"Your lunch? Really?" Damian shouted. Dang, Danny must have been doing a decent job if Damian had the spare time and attention to be exasperated with him.
"No! It's a containment device! Besides, ghosts are basically soup anyway!"
"Distract it," Damian instructed, "I'll retrieve the device." The boy took off. Danny had to wonder how he even knew where his locker was. The ghost tried to follow him, but Danny shot another blast at it.
"Hey ugly, auditioning to be one of Gotham's Birds? Sorry, but you don't really look the part." He had no idea if the creature could even understand him, but the way it turned to him and lunged again suggested it had done the trick. This time, his shield did work!
Danny could have cried tears of joy at finally having some consistency with it. The next few minutes of the fight felt like an eternity while he dodged and shot ectoblasts at it. The creature wasn't really that strong, and it didn't seem to have super dangerous abilities like some of the other ghosts he'd fought like Skulker or Technus. It ended up being a great opportunity to practice his new shield ability, actually. But he knew the longer he took, the more danger his classmates would be in.
The bird ghost slammed into his shield with a particularly vicious strike, slamming him into the ground and creating a small crater.
"Note to self, remember intangibility," Danny groaned.
In that moment he noticed a door opening on the school building. It was Damian! He was finally back with thermos in hand! Unfortunately, the other ghost noticed too.
"Oh no you don't!" Danny yelled, latching onto one of its feet as it tried to fly toward his classmate. He dug his fingers in hard and sunk into the ground partway to anchor himself.
"Big green button by the lid then the button immediately below it!"
Damian wasted no time popping the lid open and sucking the ghost into the device, the lid closing with a quiet pop. He had to admit, though the design was questionable, it was sturdy, light, and very clearly effective. He wondered if he could get away with sneaking off with this one to have drake examine later.
"That was some incredible timing, thanks." The ghostly form of his classmate floated over to him, taking the thermos from his hand. Damian did not pout.
"We should probably get out of here before the Fenton's show up." He could already hear the screech of tires and his dad's voice over the megaphone tearing through the air.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Don't worry honey, we'll catch that nasty ghost boy next time," Jack Fenton comforted his wife. True to form, the Fenton's had arrived to the scene late, and most of the damage to the school yard had been from their vehicle crashing into things upon their arrival. Parents had been called and classes ended for the day, which was how one Bruce Wayne found himself at Gotham Academy trying to help the teachers talk the two down from storming and searching the school.
His son was standing off to the side with one of his classmates. Dark hair, bright blue eyes, lanky frame; Bruce could have mistaken the child for one of his own, but looking between the hulking man in front of him and the kid standing next to Damian, the resemblance was obvious. That had to be Daniel Fenton, the meta his son had told him about. Which meant he'd been the one to deal with the ghost before anyone else had gotten there. The classmate Damian had suggested they recruit for his safety.
"Danno, did you see where that spook went? When I get my hands on him, I'll rip him apart molecule by molecule for even thinking of attacking your school!" Bruce saw Daniel's breath hitch with fear.
"Sorry, no. I was coming back from the bathroom when I saw him fighting another ghost through the window. I was scared so I hid," he lied, gripping his left wrist while he spoke.
Bruce was impressed. The boy's fear was real, and he used that to his advantage to really sell the lie to his parents. His heart ached for him. He couldn't imagine seeing any of his boys looking at him like that, with such fear and distrust.
"That's okay sweetie, we'll get him next time. We're just happy you're alright. Let's get you home," his mother comforted, though Bruce knew it wasn't very comforting at all.
"Yeah, we'll teach you to use the Fenton Bazooka," well that was horrifying, "that way next time you can just blast him!" Danny wanted literally anything else.
"Actually," Damian interrupted politely. "We were assigned a project in class earlier on the history of Gotham. As Daniel is relatively new to town, I offered to assist him with the assignment. Father, would it be acceptable for him to join us for dinner?"
Bruce would have been incredibly surprised his son was inviting someone over for dinner if he didn't see exactly what he was doing. Daniel wasn't safe at home. And he clearly wasn't comfortable with the way his parents spoke of the 'ghost boy'. If his defeated expression was anything to go by, it hadn't been the first time they'd said something like that, nor would it be the last.
"What do you think, Mr. and Mrs. Fenton? We'd love if Daniel could join us for dinner."
"Please, call us Maddie and Jack. That sounds wonderful Mr..."
"Wayne. Bruce Wayne, I'm Damian's father," he introduced. If the two recognized the name, they didn't show it. It worked out rather well in his favor.
"Mr. Wayne. If its not too much trouble, that would be wonderful. It's about time he made a new friend, he's been sulking since the move. Now, we have a ghost to catch!" Maddie planted a kiss on Danny's forehead, leaning her blaster on her shoulder as her and her husband made their way back to the homemade assault vehicle parked haphazardly on the lawn of the school.
"Be sure to call us if you plan on staying the night! We'll let Jazz know she doesn't have to worry about dinner for you! We love you, have fun sweetie!"
"Are they always like that?" Damian asked after the two had pulled away. How had those two even gotten their driver's license? It was truly abysmal, he dreaded the thought of anyone getting into a vehicle with them. And then there was the speed in which they'd dumped their son into their laps, even suggesting they'd be okay with him not coming home that night.
"They mean well, but yeah," Danny replied, heaving a sad and defeated sigh. "Thank you, by the way. For inviting me over, even if you didn't mean it. They can be a bit much."
"Clearly," Damian mused back.
Bruce watched the two interact and felt pride well up in his chest. Meeting the Fenton parents just once was enough to convince him that their son needed help, maybe even their daughter too. That Damian had taken the initiative to bring this to his attention, that he had stood up for Danny and offered his home as a sanctuary for him, made him so incredibly proud as a father. He wasn't as prickly with Danny the way he was with other people, even his own siblings. That was a very good thing indeed, considering it was looking more and more likely this would end with another adoption.
Maybe Clark was right, he did have an adoption problem.
