#I would give my life for Antoine

The sounds of the desert kept pulling Antoine back toward them, away from the loud lull of the bar that was pouring out onto the porch beside them. There was one reason he wasnāt giving into their comforting call, and it was standing in front of him waiting for him to speak. When he did it was exactly what she expected him to say, āYou know she only hired me because of Jo, right?ā
Her response came soft and kind, as though it wasnāt the fifth time she has allayed the same fear since Jo had approached them with the offer. āI know no such thing, because it isnāt true. She hired you because you can play.ā
He almost said exactly the same thing as the last time he had voiced this concern. They had been alone in their bedroom, far away from the roar of a bar, which was coincidentally where he would have preferred to be at that very moment. But she wants me to sing, Zelda. I canāt sing. Iāve never sung. But he didnāt have to, because she already knew. āAre you sure you donāt want to sing it?ā
Zelda looked down briefly at her feet, hesitant to say no to him at all. She didnāt want him to be afraid, to have to get up in front of a crowd and perhaps be even more vulnerable than he had ever been on the piano. Only she couldnāt. Not again. Her time away from the stage had only convinced her that it had never really happened at all. It had become even more powerful than a dream, because now, it was just a memory. A memory so laced with magnolias and champagne that it could only be revisited through hazy eyes and swaying limbs when you were alone on the edge of sleep or fully immersed in a book. It couldnāt have once been her life.Ā
But still, she would have said yes for him, taken the stage in some Western bar and swallowed her fears alongside a shot of whiskey for him. But that wasnāt the point.Ā
āIt isnāt my song, Antoine. Or anyone elseās. Itās yours and only yours to play.ā Then she brought her hand to his cheek, āJust play. See how it feels, if it comes to you. If you donāt sing it no one but us will know the difference because it will be great either way.ā
Zelda settled into her chair once he was already crooked over his own, cigarette dangling from his fingers and hands busied on the lighter he always kept in his pocket. Jo swung around her shoulder, placing three beers in front of her before whispering some barely heard reassurances in her ear.Ā
Zelda left her eyes on Antoine while she tried to ignore the tense glances between the couple next to her, or those Gio was throwing over Jo's shoulder to the bar beyond. Antoineās hand returned the lighter to his pocket and then rose to the tabs that decorated the top of the guitar. She waited with bated breath for him to look back up at her, to need her again before his hand left the cigarette and found the strings.Ā
When he didnāt even glance at her or the crowd before he started playing, she couldnāt tell if she was relieved or disappointed; but then he slipped into a trance where neither she nor anyone else seemed to exist.
The song should have sounded exactly the same as it had the other dozen times she had heard it. In truth, she knew the notes and the words just as well as any of her own performance pieces. But now, even though she recognized every one, they were all different. Like the crowd in front of him had somehow added life to the way his hands moved, even if they were in exactly the same places as every other time he had played it.
She knew that it was because underneath his dented guitar and plain white shirt, he was the same jazz musician he had been in the club ten years before. Only now he was on an instrument that added more honesty and rawness to the notes he had composed, even as his skill and improvisation stayed the same. For a moment Zelda forgot to be upset that he seemed to have forgotten her, because it was like watching a transformation through time. He was the same, only somehow, even better than he had ever played before.
The crowd magnetized on him without even a single word sung, and the consistent playing of the notes and the heavy cloud of cigarette smoke hung over the bar like electricity.
Gio turned to Jo, raising an impressed eyebrow as she smiled back at him with pride, forgetting to lace it with superiority or malice for the first time in months. Zelda caught the look between them and didnāt even have time to feel guilty like she usually did when she saw Jo now, because a moment later the words she hadn't really expected began to float down to them from the stage. With them, Joās face transformed from simple pride into something much more intimate, like an overwhelming emotion that she had been trying to forget.
As the song went on it was like all three of them were back there in the House of the Rising Sun together, just like they had once been when they were twenty-something and without the weight of worries they wore now. Not an ounce of the betrayal or open wounds still simmering between them were left for those few minutes. Only memories of over a decade together, of shared joy and pain that bound them together like nothing else could.Ā
On stage, Antoine remained oblivious to them. His eyes were closed and not a trace of his fear from outside remained, because he may as well have been back at the piano he had left behind. They didn't exist, because part of him was back homeā¦š¶

Hi RBS
Why gg is related to little prince in that little prince and rose story??
Hi Anon,
Fake, fan fiction, CPN.
The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint ExupƩry is a classic, exceptionally popular, beautifully told and illustrated story. Those who haven't read it can find it here.
Standard disclaimer: This is my own personal opinion based on my own interpretation of tidbits I've learned over the years. Everyone is free to come up with their own.
If you ask a solo they'll give you a completely different story than a turtle would about how The Little Prince is connected to GG, but I think GG's (and DD's) connection to that story runs far deeper than anything any fan - solo or turtle - can claim.
The Solo Interpretation
The solo interpretation revolves around the prince's red cape and the many references to the red cape that GG has made in his art and on social media over the years, which many believe were in response to fan activity.
The first reference came during a live broadcast of XFIRE, where GG created a pencil drawing of a boy wearing a cape and holding a ball. Later he posted a colored version of the image on his social media, where it was revealed that the boy was wearing a red cape and holding a glowing moon.
His fans named themselves Xiao Fei Xia (Chinese for 'Peter Pan') after seeing the image. The name sounds like Chinese for 'small fat shrimp', which is why XFX are often called shrimps (or tempuras, in malicious references).
When his fans won him a solo song, he posted a photo of a boy wearing a crown and a red cape. He later changed his Weibo badge to The Little Prince in a red cape. In Nov 2019 he posted an image of himself on Oasis with a red cape and crown drawn on.
"But why do they think The Little Prince is about them, when they call themselves Peter Pans?" you might ask.
That is a somewhat ambiguous connection, but as far as I can tell it's because of the idea that he's their Little Prince and they are his Peter Pans. The song Satisfaction - which was meaningful to GG and his fans - was connected to the image he shared of the boy wearing the cape and crown. There is also the red cape connection. They wear a red cape, and 'their Little Prince' wears one too. Red is GG's color, and the color XFX identify their fandom with.
A Deeper Connection
In any case, like I said - I think GG's connection to the Little Prince goes deeper than fandom, and the simplest answer to why it has become so connected with him is that he loves the story. It means a lot to him, and on some level he really identifies with the character.
And it's not difficult to see why both GG and DD identify with this story. I actually wrote a whole thing about that a while ago on my blog but of course, I can't find it now. So frustrating.
The Little Prince presents a lot of themes about personal development, love, acceptance, self-acceptance, friendship and found family that resonate with queer readers, with artistic/creative people, and with anyone who has had to live with loneliness or isolation (such as incredibly famous people who are forced to live somewhat separate from the rest of the world). There are themes about grief and loss, and about different points of view.
To me, the story is about how wisdom comes through wonder. More than anything, The Little Prince is about maintaining one's sense of childlike wonder and sensitivity in the face of all the pains and trials of life, and in spite of all attempts to kill our spirit. No matter what we have lost and long for, we can find beauty in the love we have and the connections we make.
It is that spirit of wonder that makes everything special, and makes us special too. It's what makes us able to look beneath the surface and see what's really important.
This is something GG quite obviously values very deeply. He has referred to DD as a sweet, pure-hearted boy in the past, and has spoken appreciatively about the fact that DD has managed to keep a sense of childishness and guilelessness despite being in this industry for so long, and from such an early age.
And GG himself displays those qualities in abundance. He has a very light-hearted, sweet, wonderstruck, sensitive, curious, cute side that is a huge part of the magnetism of his personality. We see this come out a lot in his downtime, such as when he was at Universal Studios, or when he was wandering the streets of Europe. One of the things that is most compelling about him is his willingness to show that side of himself, even as a grown man.
This is - as I've said many times - part of GG and DD's incredible chemistry and compatibility. They share their own little world, and this world of fun, laughter, sweetness, mischievousness and curiosity - the spirit of learning, exploring and cackling together like gremlins - this is all very much aligned with the themes of The Little Prince.
Even the moments of loneliness and separation and coming back together again, the stars in the sky and the ringing of bells - all of this is connected to the story of The Little Prince.
And if you believe the CPN about GG's birthday letter to DD (which I definitely do), this is a message GG gives DD: grow up slowly. That idea has appeared in fake rumors and other references in the fandom. And it's very aligned with the themes of The Little Prince.
From the book: (mild spoilers for those who haven't read it). Slightly abridged.
...he looked at me steadily, and replied to my thought:
āI am thirsty, too. Let us look for a well...ā
I made a gesture of weariness. It is absurd to look for a well, at random, in the immensity of the desert. But nevertheless we started walking.
āWhat makes the desert beautiful,ā said the little prince, āis that somewhere it hides a well...ā
I was astonished by a sudden understanding of that mysterious radiation of the sands. When I was a little boy I lived in an old house, and legend told us that a treasure was buried there. To be sure, no one had ever known how to find it; perhaps no one had ever even looked for it. But it cast an enchantment over that house. My home was hiding a secret in the depths of its heart...
āYes,ā I said to the little prince. āThe house, the stars, the desertāwhat gives them their beauty is something that is invisible!ā
As the little prince dropped off to sleep, I took him in my arms and set out walking once more. I felt deeply moved, and stirred. It seemed to me that I was carrying a very fragile treasure. It seemed to me, even, that there was nothing more fragile on all Earth. In the moonlight I looked at his pale forehead, his closed eyes, his locks of hair that trembled in the wind, and I said to myself:
āWhat I see here is nothing but a shell. What is most important is invisible...ā
As his lips opened slightly with the suspicion of a half-smile, I said to myself, again: āWhat moves me so deeply, about this little prince who is sleeping here, is his loyalty to a flowerāthe image of a rose that shines through his whole being like the flame of a lamp, even when he is asleep...ā And I felt him to be more fragile still. I felt the need of protecting him, as if he himself were a flame that might be extinguished by a little puff of wind...
And, as I walked on so, I found the well, at daybreak.
Bottom line: Be who you are, stay true to yourself, don't let the world destroy all the soft, sweet, fun, creative, childlike, insightful, open-hearted parts of you.
You are special because of what you love.
GGDD and The Little Prince
Both GG and DD have been repeatedly associated with The Little Prince, and both have been referred to as "little prince" by fans. The Little Prince and his rose have been beloved by turtles as a frequently occurring candy/CPN in the fandom for years.
This started for DD back in his Uniq days. There's an example of this in an early Uniq interview. At the start each group member is being introduced, and their group role is listed onscreen along with the names fans use to refer to them, DD's nicknames are listed as "White Peony, Little Prince." (They're all such babies here!! š„ŗ)
youtube
And he really is a Little Prince, both in terms of his youthful, pure-hearted wonder and in terms of his appearance. There are countless examples of Prince Bobo.
Both GG and DD have been associated directly with the story of The Little Prince, in that both have performed readings of the story - GG in 2018, DD in 2018 and 2019.
youtube
youtube
youtube
(Sorry, no Eng subs for that last one).
The brand Roseonly created many Little Prince themed items back when GG was endorsing them.
The recent photoshoot DD did for T Magazine was themed around The Little Prince, and people saw similar references in the photoshoot GG did for Marie Claire.
The Little Prince - CPN
There are too many CPN references to The Little Prince - or to elements from the story - to list them all here, but here are a few:
The Name
One of the things BXG get excited about is that in Chinese, The Little Prince is actually called å°ēå (Xiao Wang Zi - literally 'little king child'). While the character å° (Xiao, meaning 'little') isn't the same as the Xiao character used in GG's name (his name uses č, which is a Chinese surname), they are pronounced the same*.
*Incidentally, å° is the same character that connects XFX to the Peter Pan name, 'å°é£ä¾ ' or 'Xiao Fei Xia'.
I think it's also likely that it's a big part of why GG and DD feel a connection to The Little Prince - because in Chinese, it references/connects their names.
They both love word play and have connected their names in the past - in the BTS when they were filming the library scene and GG wrote WangXiao with the calligraphy brush, on DDU when they were asked to come up with a team name and DD suggested BJYX and GG suggested Yizhan instead. It's very much in keeping with their personalities to enjoy that connection.
The Huang Ziteng post
Back in 2020 Huang Ziteng made a social media post that referenced The Little Prince. It consisted of a photo of a Little Prince figurine and thank you card with a rose pin. The text of the post read, "The child told me he received a gift, so happy. "The most important things cannot be seen, but must be felt with the heart." It was posted on September 13 at 18:23 (Yizhan - Yibo Loves Zhan).
The Birthday Cake
When DD rode his motorcycle out to spend GG's birthday together back in 2018, the birthday cake was Little Prince themed.
There was also a restaurant scene from Gank Your Heart where a Little Prince cake topper randomly appeared on the table. Does anyone else remember that? I can't find the actual scene, but it was very š.
EDIT: here it is!
On the plate in the foreground.
A Dream Like A Dream
When A Dream Like A Dream premiered in Wuhan, the theatre plaza was overrun with flowers for GG, and he had to make a statement asking fans not to bring flowers. Fans got together and gave flowers away all over the city. GG posted a photo of a single rose, which turtles believed was sent to him by DD.
The caption: "With love, the sun warms the spring." The kadian "Love Zhan, My Bo."
Day Day Up
DDU was a source for a few Little Prince-related CPN. There was a Little Prince figurine on the DDU set, next to a skateboard,
and of course everything surrounding The Brightest Star in the Sky.
youtube
DD has frequently been referred to as the 'lonely star', and there is a great deal of CPN about GGDD and stars.
There's also a fake rumor that after DD's motorcycle accident back in 2020, GG was overheard recording a voice message for DD and saying, "you always shine brightly."
There are too many star references to mention. Also too many moon references to mention. There is a LOT of CPN that connects to The Little Prince. It comes up quite often in the fandom. I'm not going to try to gather them all here. Suffice it to say that it's very well solidified as something turtles feel a deep connection with.
Either/or is such a bitch
One of the things I find really frustrating about fan culture is that it is so warlike. Never is this more apparent than when talking about things like this. Solos believe The Little Prince references are for them. Turtles believe GG and DD are referencing each other.
Just a reminder to everyone - it's quite possible for BOTH to be true.
It's quite possible for GG and DD to find all of these things significant at the same time. It's quite possible for us to allow all those significances to coexist without making them into a battle.
More than anything, the references are for and about GG and DD. We can share our excitement for them because we're all their fans. We all love them. It doesn't have to be a fight.

it had been weeks since nevillette last met you behind the opera epiclese, weeks since you wormed your way into his mind, and he still had absolutely no idea what your name was. were you well? did you face any troubles? were you adjusting well to life on land?Ā
he stood, sighing as he neatly arranged the stacks of paper on his desk. at this rate, he would never get any work doneā perhaps a good lunch at hotel debord could help him get his emotions in order.Ā
it seemed as though the divine had been listening to his thoughts, for he heard a familiar voice sweetly call out to him.
ābonjour, monsieur neuvillette!ā
you were surrounded by a group of children who were clamouring for you to tell them more tales from under the sea, the glow of happiness on your face just as radiant as he remembered.Ā
ābonjour,ā he politely returned the smile, āitās been a while. how have you been?āĀ
āvery well, miss navia has been nothing but kind and welcoming!ā you cheered. āeveryoneās super nice too, can you believe the elders said humans were not to be trusted?āĀ
one of the children gave a loud gasp before neuvillette can reply. āno way! could it beā¦ā
another cut him off. ājeez, antoine, how long did it take you?āĀ
ānot everyoneās a genius like you, chloĆ©!ā antoine glared, giving chloĆ© a light shove before turning to you. āso, mademoiselle y/n (neuvillette makes a mental note of your name), is it true?ā
āhm?ā you tilted your head.
āare you and monsieur neuvillette together?ā
āEHH?ā
āah, actuallyāā he began, but a chorus of voices cut him off.
āy/n and neuvillette sitting in a tree! k-i-s-s-i-n-g!ā the children chanted over and over, linking hands and skipping to form a circle around you both.Ā
you smile sheepishly up at him. āsorry, theyāreā¦ quite the zealous bunch.āĀ
āhaha, evidently.ā
somewhere in the distance, a bell chimed.
āalright! run along, now, kids, or your parents will come hunting for my tail.ā you clapped your hands. āiām also getting hungryāā your eyes softened at their whines, āhey, itās not as if youāll never see me again!ā
neuvillette cleared his throat as the crowd of little ones dispersed. āyou said you were hungry? would you like to go for lunch together?ā
he allowed you to lead him by the arm, listening as you chattered about how excited you were to taste more fontainian cuisineā well, with the exception of seafood, of course, and he felt a strange warmth bloom in his chest.Ā
oh. and an odd sense of foreboding, almost as if it was taunting him: how long will this serenity last, monsieur chief justice?
over the court of fontaine, light rain began to fall without reason.

Pomme and Aypierre's relationship.
I never took the time to analyze it so....Let's go. And there are things, much more than the troll he likes to do to her.
Origin
Their relationship began.....from the beginning. Doesn't begin later like for Antoine or Ćtoiles. He immediately began to take care of her, made her cookies, offered her diaries to write and many others things. He was not like Baghera, though but was one of the most commited in.
2) Depth of their bond.
When you see him like he is, you can think he doesn't care about her, he is just a troll, blah blah.....The mic jokes, Max and their jokes.... But..... If asked to choose between the love of his life and her.....She wins. She is his queen, his princess, he always proceeds to give her what she wants, make always sure she is not far from him, makes sure she is safe when he does dangerous things. He never lies to her and she is the one who knows most of his secrets. He loves to troll her, sure, but remember that in his ways, it's like his love language. And way to hide his thoughts and sadness. On this subject, he is really similar to Richas way to not let himself be sad (no wonder these two get along so well in my opinion ). Emotional support is much more tricky with him, because of how he can't really handle his without hiding them to not worry anyone. He is also someone who take care of his problems alone so he doesn't talk about them and has tendancy to not ask about others problems, letting the others talk more about them or not ( because himself would not like others in his without asking and because he made so much efforts to not let see any weakness....) (Probably why he knows that Bad has problems but keep an eye on him from a little afar, asking a little but not ask more to not be intrusive and letting him talk if he wants ). But if she talks to him, he will try everything to not let the things goes too scary and made her laugh.
He can be immature with her, but he loves her really much and loves all the eggs too. Will make everything to save them, if he can. Everything.
So as always, with Aypierre, many layers, some hidden, some not and Pomme knows him so much she can see the layers.
If I find others things, I will gladly add it, as always. :)

My old writings for Antoine
About twenty years ago, I wrote some texts and poems for Robespierre and Saint-Just when I first realized my obsession. Recently I found them in my notes about revolution, so why not to share a few? (Just so you know, they were written in Czech originally, so the translation probably doesn't sound that great.)
Your hair fell to the floor like so many others before it; noiseless, so quietā¦ The only sound now is your breathing, which you try in vain to muffle so as not to disturb the glorious silence. In no time, the reckless shouting of the crowd will destroy this moment of peace, seeping into your last thoughts. What will happen now to the beautiful dream you tried to make come true? Your life doesn't matter to you and maybe it never did, but the Republic must liveā¦ You did what you had to do and now your short years have come to an end. You don't care, you don't regret it. You didn't feel sorry for anyone, least of all for yourself. Only once did your eyes water with tenderness, when you saw red blood on his face. That's when you knew it was all over. Perhaps fatigue helped the enemies knock the sword of justice from the hand of the Revolution, and now, defenseless, she is waiting for the blade of the guillotine to cut off her headā¦ Already today, before evening comes, she will die in the square in front of the eyes of her children, whom she loves so muchā¦
------------
You had no friends, because they all betrayed you, carved deep wounds into your heart. That's why you didn't give your trust to anyone and your love dedicated to the people. You didn't expect gratitude for fighting hard for its cause. So now you ascend calm and ready to death that awaits you up there. You don't worry about the crime of those you never allowed close enough to hurt your soul. Only one person could do thatā¦ and you knew that would never happenā¦ you gave him your faith, such a precious gift. He gave you his, and that's why you are walking with him today on the last path. You couldn't leave him at that cruel moment, you couldn'tā¦because you know how much betrayal hurts.
----
Cold is the blade, cold as death, cold as youā¦ an icy touch in the middle of summer. But there is fire burning inside your soul that won't go outā¦ it will continue to burn in the minds of those who understand you. Of those who won't die today, but with mute mouths and aching hearts will overcome despair, so they can live for your ideals for which you die.

The fox (2): Found something real that's out of touch.
Alastor x fem!fox!reader
stay tuned for the final chapter
"To you I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world."
~Le petit prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupery
The girl woke up with a start. Her mother was by her side. The monotone sound of the machines attached to her body could be heard. She had died but they had brought her back.
In the few minutes it had taken to revive her, her soul had wandered all the way to Hell- due to how there hadn't been any guidance from Heaven. Her death hadn't been meant to happen. Not yet.
Time flew differently in the afterlife, since she had spent a good fifteen days at the hotel, but as mentioned, only a couple of minutes at the hospital.
The girl lived. She left the hospital, but she kept her promise to Alastor. She never forgot about him. While he was in Hell, thinking she was in Heaven, she was alive, roaming Earth.
She searched a plethora of archives at Louisiana's library and she tried to gather as much information as possible from her grandma about Alastor the radio host.
A serial killer that would hide his victims' bodies on deer haunting ground. He had been killed while mistaken for one. Hence his appearance in the afterlife. He was also found to be linked to voodoo practices- for hurtful purposes.
He had been a bad man in all his life. He had caused pain to others, but she couldn't just ignore the way he had been there for her during her short stay in the hotel.
Alastor was the one cooking her Jambalaya when she was sad and entertaining her with his charm and wit. That's how she'd always remember him. The smiling, gentledeer with the black cane.
She went as far as visiting Louisiana's old cemetery. Why would she leave flowers on the grave of a killer? Why would she sit and reminisce about one of Hell's most devious sinners? She wasn't the one to give him forgiveness. She didn't even try to justify his vile actions. The flowers were simply her way of saying "thank you, because even though you've done so many wrongs, you did at least one good deed and that was helping me".
The photograph on the grave -placed behind a now broken frame- was fading slowly but surely. The young man that looked back at her had a smooth, tan complexion and bespectacled, smart eyes. The shade of his eyes and hair reminded her of hot coffee in the morning. The quality wasn't great, but then again, coloured pictures weren't as advanced back then.
Alastor's visits to Rosie grew more frequent after his little, fluffy friend vanished. He'd sit for hours with his hellborn bestie, telling her about every single detail of his experience with the young girl.
"I'm surprised you didn't just devour her Hun! I'm sure she'd taste so delicious!"
"Dear Rosie... I have to be honest with you... If there's one person except from my mother that I would never hurt... It is her, the fox."
Both of whom were gone for the foreseeable eternity.
With Rosie refilling his tea cup frequently and asking him additional questions, Alastor couldn't help but think about the fox.
It hadn't been all good times, but now that she was gone, even the not so pleasant memories carried a bittersweet quality to them.
For example, there had been many arguments between them and the girl hadn't been scared to show him her teeth, quite literally.
He found himself thinking of her again as he made his way back to the hotel, after his visit at Cannibal town.
Alastor's memory...
She was being nosy again. Asking too many questions.
"Well yes, I did die in the woods like you... It's peculiar. This is the first time I ever meet someone who died under the same circumstances... not the exact same, but you get my drill?"
The girl had shrugged, but she hadn't been able to suppress her smile at being given attention. Alastor had continued talking, simultaneously warming up his voice for his radio show.
"What if this is too much of a coincidence? What if this is part of some bigger plot..."
"A bigger plot? How so Alastor?"
He liked the way she pronounced his name. She'd say it with caution, like it was something important that should be respected.
Sometimes people get sent in our lives for a reason. Sometimes they teach us a lesson. Sometimes we are the lesson. Sometimes they are reminders. Reminders of things we had forgotten that existed.
"Do you have a tail?"
"What do you expect?"
"Oh please show me!"
As much as he wanted to be intimidating and taken seriously, even if he was an overlord, the fact that his body got changed into a deer was somewhat humiliating. He. Is. Not. Prey.
"Not happening."
He should have shown her, just to see that sparkle in her eyes. Regret.
Charlie was singing. It wasn't like him zoning out, but a few weeks ago the fox had been in that very same room, walking away... frustrated.
Alastor's memory...
"Oh dear..." he had muttered, following after her before swiftly stepping in front of her and slightly raising his arm, blocking her way.
"Now it would be quite rude to simply walk away, would it not?"
"Manners are the last thing occupying my mind after I was thrown in purgatory."
He had let out a chuckle of agreement at her point.
"Sometimes a bit of charm can take you a long way in life... and besides the company of your sweet self would be delightful!"
"Can it take me to Heaven?"
"What about a story sweetheart? It was so brutal when I first spawned here... just thinking about that time makes my tongue tingle with the sweet taste of blood."
"I hate this place."
She had been unhappy all the time he knew her.
In a mockingly sympathetic tone Alastor had tried to distract her.
"Awww... are you really not enjoying your stay here in our beautiful hotel? I'm sure you have met some really interesting individuals."
"I prefer my well deserved place in HEAVEN thank you very much."
All their conversations had always circled back to that exact point.
While she was beginning to grow on him, to her Alastor was still no one. She would chat with him, but he wasn't someone special in her heart. The radio demon hated himself for allowing that bond to bloom, but he hated himself even more because it was one sided. Him being on the losing end.
And there had been another fight that very same day.
"LET ME DOWN"
"Ask nicely."
"I hate you."
Alastor's playful attitude had vanished.
"Hate is a strong feeling. What is there to hate? My looks? My voice? My past?"
"You're a demon. You're... I hate you as much as I hate this place."
"Think again."
Sometimes it was truly infuriating how stubborn she would be.
"Um... I... I don't know. Everything."
"Everything?"
Despite himself, Alastor's tone had gotten slightly bitter.
"Well... this just ruins the mood now. Don't you think it's rather unreasonable to hate someone you've known only for three days? I can tell you're quite childish... but you're not that childish, right young one?"
She had placed a palm on his chest to push him away. She was practically glowing from purity while he was emitting pure darkness.
The radio demon had looked a little surprised when the girl had pushed him away without showing fear. Leaning in, he'd spoken in a whisper while his hot breath had hit her cheek.
"My dear, you shouldn't resist what's happening... Just allow yourself to stay with us at the hotel... As a sinner."
Alastor had decided to corrupt the new resident of the hotel. His taunting words and unsettling change of size hadn't fazed her... The girl had been scared, but still, she had managed to give him a few really sharp scratches. Yet, he hadn't responded to pain at all.
...he would always carry the little scars she left on him. A reminder that she had been there.
The real reason he had wanted her to stay was selfish. It would have done her more harm than good. He didn't like how he had acted like the bigger person.
But when it had happened -the ridiculous scratches- with a threatening voice he had told her...
"You think you're so strong Fox, huh? Because if I wanted to, I could crush you with just a single motion of one of my fingers."
"Then, you'd... you'd have Heaven against you!"
He had bursted into a laugh.
"Oh dear... I can't believe how naive you are! Heaven is not going to do anything to defend an insignificant person such as yourself. They're more worried about themselves and their perfect little world. The ones you look up to are always the first to disappoint you mon petit renard."
He never understood why he had said that to her. He had practically tried to save her from a heartbreaking realization. A realization that had always pained Alastor in his childhood. To know you have to fend for yourself. While he had perfected the art, he wished she didn't have to.
He had forgotten they were fighting.
She was dreaming of him, again. Red hair. Razor blades for teeth. The sound of static filling the air and making her hair frizz.
The girl liked that memory, it was one of her favourites to relive in her sleep.
The fox's memory...
"No, my dear fox, you're not a good soul. In reality you're really just a little hypocrite and have a high opinion of yourself- haha!"
She had been curled up in a ball in her bed. Luscious hair flowing and a light dress covering her small body.
Alastor had walked into the room she was occupying and had sat down next to her. He had spoken in a soft and caring voice.
"You don't have to try and stay holy while you're here in hell... This is a safe place where you can act out your hedonistic desires and not worry about being judged by anyone!"
"Jeez Alastor! I don't have such desires... My only desire right now is a fluffy blanket and some hot chocolate."
Alastor had snapped his fingers... He then had turned into a shadow, slipping away like sand and returning like a chilly breeze... With hot chocolate and a very fluffy blanket he had most definitely stolen from Charlie's bedroom.
Her eyes had widened and she had smiled.
"Oh my gosh..."
He had grinned in response. It wasn't like him acting on impulse, without deeper motives.
"I told you mon renard! This is the best place you could possibly be to try and relax! Here we are free from all the restrictions set on us in Heaven!"
"Thank you Alastor!"
She had never bought a thing he had told her and he knew it. But this act had somehow been calming this... this weird apprehension. The demon had somehow known that his time with her would be limited. She hadn't belonged.
In comparison to him, she was a saint, an angel even.
While she had been drinking her hot chocolate, he had taken the opportunity to really look at her, imprinting her features in his memory, engraving the shine of her fangs and the blush on her cheeks in his brain.
"Now just look at that cute little face of yours!"
"Oh, look as much as you want. I'll be gone soon anyway."
She had said that with such a confidence. He wouldn't have shown her, but she could sense it. He was sad.
Alastor had simply chuckled and then sighed.
"Yes I guess so. But for now just rest... Maybe tomorrow will be your lucky day!"
He gently stroked her hair, until her eyes had closed.
"Sleep well darling~"
That night she had decided he was someone to her and not just anyone.
She never knew, but that same night he had noticed how small she actually was compared to him and had genuinely smiled.
She smiled in her sleep, mimicking the motion he had made... months ago.
...time flies.
The car accident is now years away.

Stepping out (ENG. VER)
Prompts by @raven-cincaide-words
Life in the nursery has always been quiet for Missa, it was him, the soft little rag doll, Roier, Cellbit and Bagi, the spider and kitten stuffed animals in little clothes, Maximus, a little wooden horse, and Mariana and Charlie, a Barbie and Ken, well until Chayanne came home to his little girl, Tallulah, and brought with him Etoiles, Pierre, Antoine, and Baghera, an army of little wooden soldiers, Foolish, a big rubber shark, Philza, an action man, and Vegetta, a stuffed wolf.
In Missa's simple opinion, the boy toys were savages, lacked manners, and never minded his delicate seams, well maybe almost all of them except Vegetta, the wolf was a true gentleman.Ā Ā
Chayanne was an energetic and chaotic boy, always creating passionate stories, tales of pirates, intergalactic ships and knights in shining armour, Philza was always the hero of those adventures.Ā
Now that Chayanne and Tallulah were playing together, Missa found himself being the helpless victim more and more often. Missa didn't mind because he usually sat comfortably in his little chair and waited to be ārescuedā by Philza, but the knight was anything but a gentleman.Ā Ā
āWatch out!ā shouted Chayanne, as he slammed Philza's hard plastic body into Missa's rag, making popping sounds, āI've come to save you Missa!āĀ
āChay! Missa is a little rag doll,ā Tallulah shouted back, snatching the doll from her brother's hands, āyou have to be careful with him.āĀ
Missa felt the warmth of the little girl's hand caressing her rag doll skin, and if his smile wasn't stitched, he would have smiled wider.
āIf you want to play with me, you play the way I want,ā the boy told her, for all the mother-of-pearl buttons, how rude boys were, Missa thought.Ā
Philza lay on the ground, unmoving and oblivious to the fight, but Missa could swear the knight's plastic was itching to spring into action, to jump up, stand at attention, shout āhangarā and draw his sword.Ā
Tallulah stroked the woollens on Missa's head, ignoring her brother for now, his girl smiled at him, and murmuring said, āIgnore them Missa, I'll take care of you.āĀ
Though he could not answer her, Missa felt it. Tallulah's words were like a silent promise that echoed inside him. Every time the girl treated him with such affection, Missa felt lucky to be her favourite toy, safe from the turbulent and frantic stories that Chayanne and Philza brought with them.
āKids, dinner!ā That was one of the children's parents, that meant bedtime was approaching and everyone's favourite part of the day in the nursery toys was beginning.Ā
āCome on, Tallulah!ā shouted Chayanne, quickly forgetting the squabble.Ā
āI'm going to say, good night, first.ā Said Tallulah, Ay, coloured threads, at last, thought Missa.
āUgh!ā How rude, āGirls, always so sentimental.ā Said the boy then ran off to the dining room.Ā
Tallulah picked Philza up off the floor, āSorry, Sir Philza, my brother isn't very careful, but don't worry, you can spend the night with Missa, he's soft.āĀ
Tallulah set them both down on a little bed, āGoodnight Missa, goodnight Philza.ā Said the girl, giving each of them a kiss on the forehead.Ā
āGood night, Cellbit, Bagi and Roier,ā said the girl, changing them into their nightclothes and tucking them into their beds.Ā
āGood night, Maximus, tomorrow morning I will bring you more hay.ā Said the girl, combing the mane of the wooden horse.Ā
āGood night, Mariana and Charlie,ā the girl tucked the plastic dolls into their doll house.Ā
āGood night, Etoiles, Pierre, Antoine, and Baghera, you can rest now, soldiers.ā Said the little girl, taking off their little hats and putting away their weapons.Ā
āGood night, Foolish, may you dream of little fishes.ā Said the girl, stroking the shark's fin.
āAnd good night, Mr. Vegetta,ā said the little girl giving the wolf's fur a kiss, āhave a nice night and sweet dreams, little toys.ā The little girl said goodbye.Ā
As the little girl stepped out of the nursery, the toys came to life.

Our Flag Means DeathĀ Season 2: Exclusive First Look
Vanity Fair joins Stede, Blackbeard, and the rest of the cast on set in New Zealand for an exclusive early look at the second season, debuting on Max in October.
BYĀ SARAH CATHERALL (AUGUST 24, 2023)
Only the fans of Our Flag Means Death can determine whether theyāll be satisfied with the showās second season, which debuts on Max in October. But if you ask Fernando Frias, who directed three of the seasonās episodes, he sounds pretty confident: āIf my life depended on saying whether itās yes or no, I would say yes.āā
Itās December 8, 2022, and the principal actors on Our Flag Means Death as well as the 800-plus extras and crew members have three days left of their three-month shoot for season two. Things are starting to get emotional. āYouāve been the most amazing crew Iāve ever worked with,ā says one actor as he wraps his final scene. Frias says itās like leaving āa long summer camp,ā adding, āitās like a family.ā
Rhys Darby as Stede Bonnet. COURTESY OF NICOLA DOVE/MAX.
The series created byĀ David JenkinsĀ was a surprise breakout hit when it debuted in the spring of 2022, building a fiercely devoted fan base with its silly yet emotional deadpan, and defiantly queer take on the adventures of real 18th-century pirates. Everyone involved inĀ Our Flag Means DeathĀ is eager to preserve the surprises in store for season two, which kicks off with gentleman pirate Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby) and softhearted bad boy Blackbeard (Taika Waititi) ruefully separated after finally realizing their love for each other at the end of season one.
Itās āgoing to be unexpected and surprising, but also very pleasurable and satisfying for those who like the show,ā promises executive producerĀ Garrett Basch.Ā It ādoesnāt follow the expected route,ā teasesĀ Con OāNeill,Ā who plays Blackbeardās devoted enforcer, Izzy. All that means is weāre not at liberty to share too much about what happened on set that day, which included emotional conversations, new cast members, banter with the Kiwi crew, and some seriously killer costumes.
But these exclusive new images give a hint of what is in store. There are fresh facesāMinnie Driver will guest-star as the real-life Irish pirate Anne Bonny, and Ruibo Qian joins the cast as the mysterious merchant Susanāand a lot of New Zealand actors and locations, now that the production has decamped across the Pacific.
āThe viewers will see the scope of their world has expanded based on the fact weāre able to get to these amazing locations within a short travel time,ā says executive producer Antoine Douaihy. āYou will notice a marked difference between the two seasons in terms of the scope and the scale.āā
Minnie Driver joins the cast this season as Anne Bonny. COURTESY OF NICOLA DOVE/MAX.
There will be plenty of familiar faces too, of course. On set that day in Kumeu, New Zealand, a rural area about 20 miles outside of Auckland, are Waititi and Darby along their fellow returning cast members OāNeill,Ā Vico OrtizĀ (Jim),Ā Kristian NairnĀ (Wee John),Ā Joel FryĀ (Frenchie),Ā Matthew MaherĀ (Black Pete),Ā Leslie JonesĀ (Spanish Jackie),Ā Samson KayoĀ (Oluwande),Ā Ewen BremnerĀ (Nathaniel Buttons),Ā Samba SchutteĀ (Roach), and more. New onboard are two Kiwi actors,Ā Madeleine SamiĀ (most recently of the Australian mystery-comedyĀ Deadloch), and Samoan-bornĀ Anapela Polataivao.Ā And thereās one returning figure impossible to miss on the soundstage:Ā The Revenge,Ā the stately ship that Blackbeardāa.k.a. Edācommandeered at the end of season one. In real life it was carefully transported across the Pacific Ocean from the showās original Los Angeles soundstages.
The RevengeĀ is vast and impressive, much larger in real life than it appears onscreen. But itās not the only stunning scenery in store. There are around 50 sets involved in the production of season two, including the 30-acre forest behind the Kumeu Film Studio, Piha Beach, and the wild, black-sand Bethells Beach.
Waititi, who also executive produces the series, was part of the push to film season two in his native New Zealand. āTaika is an extraordinary talent and whatās really great about him with his international success is heās remained very committed to New Zealand and very loyal to our industry,ā says Annie Murray, the CEO of the New Zealand Film Commission. āThe beauty of filming in New Zealand is that you can find incredible varied locations within a very short driving distance. [And] when you get to those locations you can turn your camera in any direction.āā
Rhys Darby as Stede Bonnet, filming at New Zealandās Bethells Beach. COURTESY OF NICOLA DOVE/MAX.
The scope of the season is very evident back on set, as well. Thereās a whole other pirate ship in addition toĀ The Revenge,Ā plus sets for a floating market, Stedeās cabin (empty when we visit), and the Republic of Pirates first glimpsed in season one. Behind the scenes itās a maze of wardrobe, wig rooms, and dressing rooms. In another facility, props are stacked on shelves, ready to be taken away to storage as soon as filming wrapsāvases, plates, antique furniture, and piles of mannequins replicating dead bodies which were used in one of the battle scenes.
Costume designerĀ Gypsy TaylorĀ joined the production this season and has designed hundreds of costumes, checking with everyone on set that day to make sure everything is in place before cameras roll. Taylor says each of the principals have six to eight looks in this season, and that every itemāevery leather belt, wig, bit of jewelry, even a mermaid tailāhas been made by her 60-strong workshop. The costumes this season have a āMad Max,Ā āstreets of New Yorkā feel,ā says Taylor. āDavid Jenkins was keen to give the series a cool rock-and-roll vibeā¦so we had these rock-and-roll elements with an 18th-century twist.āā As is evidenced in the image below, even Stedeās crew winds up with some unexpected new looks over the course of the season.
Wherever it is these Revenge crew members have found themselves, thereās something that surprised them. COURTESY OF NICOLA DOVE/MAX.
Two armies are part of the action in season two, all of them needing elaborate costumesāaround 150 Chinese pirates and a fleet of 100 navy officers. Even the breeches are in studded black leather, and punkified. Says Taylor, āThe theory behind their costumes is they wouldāve stolen from other piratesā¦. Although our Wee John has started to become quite the seamstress, so heās knitting this season.āā True enough: Nairn is wearing what looks like a hand-knit sweater on set that day.
Wee John isnāt the only pirate getting into crafts.Ā Nancy Hennah,Ā who has managed the hair and makeup for both seasons, points to Blackbeardās wigāmade in Londonāand tattoos as Waititi works on set. With 14 tattoos on his right arm and 10 on the left, plus plenty of scars, he needs at least an hour in the makeup chair. āTaika wanted most of the tattoos to look like heād done them himself,ā Hennah says. āLike on slow days on the boat when thereās nothing much to do, they sit around and give each other tattoos.ā
She gives a hint of a storm in one episode: āOne of the hardest days here in makeup was when they were caught in a storm on the back of the boat. [The cast] were saturated for a whole day, which caused havoc with things like tattoos and hair, wigs and beards.āā
Taika Waititi as Blackbeard, who begins the season with a broken heart. COURTESY OF NICOLA DOVE/MAX.
By mid afternoon, Con OāNeill is taking a break in his trailer. He pulls his slim, leather trousered legs up to a corner seat. A candle blazes on the kitchen bench as the veteran actor talks about the physical endurance required during the shoot. āItās been frantic,āā he says. His signature gray hair barely moves, frozen by the team of hair stylists who arrived on set around sunrise. (All interviews with actors in this story took place before the SAG-AFTRA strike).Ā
Izzy āgoes on a remarkable journeyā this season, says OāNeill. āHe understands what love is and whom heās in love with.āā On a series featuring a variety of joyful queer relationshipsānot just Stede and Blackbeard, but Black Pete and Lucius (Nathan Foad), Jim and Oluwande, and Spanish Jackie and her many husbandsāIzzyās unyieldingly straitlaced devotion makes him an odd man out. By the end of season one many fans speculated that Izzy was driven by something at the intersection of love and obsession. This season, according to OāNeill, Izzy gets even deeper into that dynamic. āPhysically itās been quite demanding, and also emotionally itās been quite demanding to be playing a man enraged by unrequited love, whoās basically a hopeless romantic, and to be able to play all that and also remember that this is fundamentally a comedy.āā
Though the show is often warm and fuzzy when it comes to feelingsāone of Stedeās mottos in season one is that when faced with challenges, āwe talk it through as a crewāāIzzy represents the darker, more violent side of pirate life, which the show doesnāt shy away from either. āWhat I love about this show is it does allow itself to swing between the two,ā OāNeill says. āWeāre almost operatic in our darkness at times, and then we swing back to the sweetness of the simplicity of the love of our two guys. Itās been challenging just to get the tone right.ā
āWeāve gone further this season than we did last season with those tones,ā he continues. āSo sometimes itās quite interesting to remind yourself that you have to take your foot out of the tragedyāliterally, your footāand put it back into the comedy.ā
With a season behind them to build the dynamics between the characters and the actors alike, on set thereās been āa lot more spontaneity and script revisions based on whatās happening day-to-day,ā says Douaihy. āThe cast are so comfortable with one another and their characters, that they move through it naturally.āā
Leslie Jones as Spanish Jackie and Taika Waititi as Ed a.k.a. Blackbeard. COURTESY OF NICOLA DOVE/MAX.
The way OāNeill puts it, theyāve also built trust with Jenkins, their showrunner, to follow some bigger swings. āI donāt think David Jenkins is ever going to follow an expected route. Iād hate to drive in a car with him.ā Thinking of the fans who will greet the series when the show returns in October, OāNeill continues, āI think theyāre going to appreciate what [Jenkins] wants. Season two does stick to the original premise that we created in season one, which is take it on to other levels.āā
One character leveling up in a major way this season is Jim, the quiet badass (there are knives involved) played by the nonbinary actor and activistĀ Vico Ortiz.Ā āJim really evolves in season two,ā they say. āTheyāre a bit more chatty and a bit more conversationalā¦. Most of the first season you see Jim in disguise, hiding, but in this one you see them a bit more [thinking,] Oh, this is my chosen family, and I feel good. Thereās a bit more zaniness and a bit more softness.āā
Like OāNeill and several other castmates, Oritz had attended their share of fan events by the time season two began filming, and the entire cast and crew returned to the high seas with a strong sense that their show had taken on a life of its own. āItās so beautiful to see that people are finding community within the fan base. Itās about creating spaces where we feel safe and seen, and itās so great to see that so many people watch the show and feel validated in their experiences, whatever that may be,ā says Ortiz. āA lot of people that watch the show are like, āYeah, Iām a guy and itās good to see all these dudes being vulnerable.ā We can just shake up [ideas about gender].āā
Ruibo Qian joins the cast this season as Susan, a merchant with secrets of her own. COURTESY OF NICOLA DOVE/MAX.
Basch admits the fan following surprised some of the team, ābut it made a lot of senseā too. After years of television shows and movies thatĀ built up the potential of queer romance only to stop short, Basch thinks the fervor forĀ Our Flag Means DeathĀ āsays that shows in the mainstream arenāt delivering that promise or that setup, and we have. Thatās really why the fans have gone wild for it.ā
That promise, itās safe to say, is kept in season two, and then some. On set that day in December, for example, there was a major romantic moment between two key characters. But weād risk Ed Teachās wrath if we told you any more.

Daryl Dixon Rewatch S1E04 - La Dame de Fer
without a doubt the weakest ep of the season, it stars with Daryl having some sort of premonition dream, in which he sees Laurent surrounded by walkers passing right by him without even noticing he's there. all this supporting my theory the Nest people want to turn the kid into a walker so he can rise again as the new Messiah.
(exactly how i feel after the work week i just had!)
anyways more thoughts and ramblings after the jump...
Daryl strolling through Paris, listening to music, seeing old couple sharing precious time together while people watching through windows gives me the frenchest vibes ever. unfortunately, he cannot read a map to save his life.
i don't hate Genet, and i can even understand her pragmatism. i feel this will turn into a religion vs. science debate, in which both sides want to use to boy to "cure" humanity.
i will never ever forgive this show for killing Antoine the pigeon dude, who was legit one of the most likable characters in all of twdu with only a couple of mins of screentime. his dying wish was to free his pigeons. "The birds. Free. Let them free. The pigeons." - here we go, if he was the one making an analogy between Caryl and the pigeons always returning home to the one who waits for them in the last ep, this also seems an omen for caryl being set free of their responsibilities, trauma and guilt so they can finally fly freely together. and if so, then it's kinda poetic.
Daryl is usually a fighter not a hugger, but we need to care about his bonds with this random people, so Isa hugs him. how fun would it be if you were not left to wonder what will happen next. Daryl cares about people, it's just who he is. and guess what? he already knows where Laurent run off to.
"Paris kinda sucks." Daryl, YOU'RE GODDAMN RIGHT! but it makes up for it in beautiful cinematography.
oh look, now Isa knows how to kill walkers! poorly, but at least she ain't just acting like a deer in headlights.
the dude they take hostage is slut shaming the heck out of Isa, and Daryl be like *shrug* je ne comprends pas, bitch, but let me tell you a story about little Jimmy being forced to kill his piglet one day. the most random Christmas tale ever told, but despite Daryl saying he made up the whole story, i can't help but think it's his story. and that is heartbreaking!
ironically, Daryl who was wholly against torturing a whisperer back in s10, is now full on let's fuck this guy up for info right in front of a nun! of course, i can't help but think it makes total sense cause at the time, he was really just trying to protect Carol from that kind of violence when she was already on edge.
Isa needs to tell Daryl something, he be like NAH, i'm busy, i got a kid, your kid, to save, please schedule an appointment.
Sylvie is finding love for the first time ever, and she's wondering if Isa is harboring any romantic feelings for Daryl. he's the one, the messenger to deliver Laurent, so he is a means to an end. she already loved and lost a lot before the apocalypse. which probably means she is totally getting the feels for Daryl, she just doesn't know he's taken already. just wait till you meet his formidable wife!
Daryl learned some French already. he grunts "bon appƩtit," as he leaves piglet!dude to be eaten by walkers. SAVAGE!
Daryl fights Quinn, but let's him live cause he's Daryl - he wouldn't kill the kid's father right in front of him.
we have come full circle. Daryl returning a lost kid to his "mother" (*whisper yells* Sophia), and watches her make the ultimate sacrifice by going back to Quinn so she can give the kid a chance to leave the city. not before, she sorts of totally guilt trips him into taking Laurent to the nest. obviously, for some reason, Daryl is the only dude in the whole of France capable of taking the kid there. *rolls eyes loudly* remember, there's reasons everywhere. the universe keeps working to keep Daryl there, so Carol can find him (and together they will save Laurent - that's my theory!).
and it finally ends with Daryl looking at some Paris landmarks, and giving the most longing look at Lady Liberty. he is homesick!
see y'all next week for ep 5!!! it's gonna get interesting!
35 days left until the premiere of THE BOOK OF CAROL!!!!!

DA 4 Veilguard predictions
Okay so I wanted to get a whole ass post about what I think is likely to happen in DA 4 done before the reveals but I havenāt had the time between work and life.
There are MASSIVE spoilers for every Dragon Age game, book, comic, and most internet theories in this post. Proceed with caution.
Also I swear like the truckers I grew up around. So CW on language.
First and foremost, Iām going to warn you all that Iām a die-hard Solavellan. If you donāt like that? Donāt bother reading this. And for godsā sake donāt bother arguing with me about it. Depending on my mood, Iāll either first roast your face off and then eat it with bbq sauce or if Iām feeling generous, Iāll just block your ass. You like what you like about games. Iāll like what I like. I donāt shit in your porridge, I ask you to not do it to me. As Iām writing this, Iām 47 years old and Iāve been gaming since I was 9. Which means Iāve been gaming longer than a lot of you have been alive. Stop yucking on peopleās yum. Thereās far too little joy in this world. Go find your own.
So, this is just a partial post (albeit, in true to me fashion, an incredibly LONG one XD). It will cover stuff I think we might see revealed in things this weekend at either SGF or Xbox whatever (I have no idea why theyād bother with the Xbox thing since they hold such a small share of the gaming market these days but whatever.) Weāre seeing something between Friday and Monday. Hopefully, enough to give hope to the masses.
Depending on how much time I have before I have to serve dinner I might add some more of my theories.
Itās a bit silly of me to be so obsessed about this game because my computer definitely wonāt be able to handle it, and because Iām a disabled, neurodivergent author with a family to supportā¦ wellā¦ the likelihood of me being able to buy both a computer able to handle it and the game itself any time in the near future isnāt good. So, I wonāt be able to play it. I am going to add my links and a go fund me to the bottom of this post (which has taken me hours to research and write so if you would like to donate to the cause I would be so deeply appreciative. Dragon Age is one of my AuDHD special interests, and itās killing part of my soul to know I canāt participate when it comes out. I promise Iāll write all sorts of interesting stuff about it!)
But I canāt help myself. Letting my research-oriented, lore-obsessed brain noodle about Dragon Age is one of my very favourite special interests. So, without further adoā¦ here goes!
CLASSES
I think we have a good chance of seeing some of these as playable classes.
Knight-Templar ā
Lord of Fortune ā
Antivan Crow ā
Mortalitasi (Nevarran necromancer) ā
Grey Warden ā
Shadow Dragon ā
Shaper/Carta/Kal-Sharok/Sha-Brytol Dwarf ā
Veil Jumper ā
Fenāharel Fanatic (not his usual people, the fanatical ones detailed in Tevinter Nights) ā
Companions
A lot of these ideas come from the supplementary material that Iāve read at least three times each. Iām obsessed. What can I say?
Qunari: ā
Tal-Vashoth Sarrebas, maybe Qwydion? ā
Rivani Lord of Fortune: ā
āHollixā maybe? That would be fun, plus they are canonically non-binary! Please please please? With sugar on top? ā
Tevinter Mage/Magister: ā
Ā Maevaris Tilani ā would be so cool, but Iād be equally as happy to see Neve Gallus. ā
Honestly, they both have benefits for me. Mae is trans and Neve has a prosthetic leg. Alternatively, I liked Myrion ā well enough that heād be a cool companion too. And heās canonically bisexual from what I read between the lines.
Grey Warden: ā
Please let it be Antoine! ā (Antoine absolutely has ADHD and I would love to see more of that rep in a AAA game.) Evke ā could be fun too.
Templar Knight-Commander: Rana Savras ā
Spirit Companion: I really hope itās not Audric. 1. Heās not really a spirit, heās a higher undead, which is a Zombie by any other term. And all the poor guy wants is to organize his library. Iāll be quite disappointed with the writers if they go this route.
So, weāve had Faith/Wynn, Justice/Anders, and Compassion/Cole. There are two other widely known benevolent spirits in Dragon Age canon. Valor and Hope. Given what I think is gonna happen in DA4, my money is on a Hope spirit. ā
Antivan Crow: ā
Illario Dellamorte. ā (I really really hope itās not Lucanis Dellamorte. š© Heās so damned annoying and gods that is NOT how an assassin operates. Here's my professional editorial opinion of why Lucanis is an absolutely terrible character.
Veil Jumper/Dalish/City Elf: ā
Strife. ā Please please please? Heād be so awesome as a companion character. Heās not young! I want an older companion character. (And it would let them get away with the white hair on a darker skinned character without it being racist as fuck.) I just really hope he looks better than he did in the comics. The art style in those was just fucking terrible.
I am hoping that we can somehow romance Lace Harding. ā
But I just donāt see how she could fit in with the reported likely classes and things Iāve personally considered.
That gives me 8 even though reports say we only get 7. But did you notice in this picture that there are 8? So either weāre gonna get a āsecretā companion like Loghain Mac Tir. (Three guesses who that will be and the first two donāt count.) Or they have a surprise for us. Or the art is off.
I could also see Kieren ā as a companion. (Morriganās son) Heād be just about old enough if we get the time jump reports are saying we will. He was roughly 12 in DAI. + 2 for Trespasser puts him at 14. Ten years minimum between Trespasser and DA4 puts him at 24. So, itās possible. I could also see Vaea as a companion. But Iām not exactly sure how she would fit with classes.
Potential Advisors
Some of these Iāve got as potential companions as well because I could see them fitting either.
Dorian Pavus for Tevinter Magisters (I think this is very likely given Tevinter Nights.)
Maevaris Tilani (Same as above.)
Charter (I think weāll see Charter stepping into Lelianaās place as Spymaster given what we saw in Trespasser and Tevinter Nights.)
Myrna/Audric (Mortalitasi)
Ramesh (Grey Wardens)
Genetivi (Scholar) (given what happened in Tevinter Nights I have a feeling weāll be seeing him again under a new name)
Viago De Riva (Antivan Crows)
Andarateia Cantori (Antivan Crows) Iād love to see Zevran again but considering what he was up to in DAI I think itās unlikely. Although something did happen in Tevinter Nights that might make it possible.
Lavellan: With how the story in DAI ended and what we saw in the end scene of Trespasser, I think theyāll be important in some way.
Fenris: (Wandering Warrior)
Cameos we might see:
Fenris
Isabela
Arishok Sten
Antaam Rassan
Kieren (Morriganās son)
Zevran
Vaea
Sebastian Vael
Viago De Riva
Andarateia Cantori
Lavellan
People I donāt think weāll see or if we do it wonāt be for long.
Cassandra (thank gods)
Morrigan
Leliana (sads)
Most of the cast of DAI and the previous games.
Bosses weāre likely to fight.
Solas. Heāll be a mini-boss and maybe one you can talk out of a fight.
FleMythal
Elgarānan ā
ļø
Ghilan'nain ā
ļø
Andruil. She and Ghilanānain often go together.
Critters/bad guys weāre likely to see.
Bone creatures from the necropolis.
Changed darkspawn/humans from Ghilan'nainās labs. ā
ļø
Tentacley sea creatures from Minrathous and other āexperimented upon by magesā monsters.
Werewolves may make a comeback.
Antaam.
Venatori. ā
Fenāharel Fanatics (these are different from Fenāharel agents).
Whatever or whoever the people across the sea are.
Carta dwarves
Titans
Sha-Brytol dwarves
Antaam Rassan
Antaam
Things I think weāre likely to see.
Weāre going to see trans/non-binary rep. ā
I deeply believe this is happening. I will be so sad if Iām wrong.
Sad as I am to say it. Varric is gonna die. The writing has been on the wall in drippy red marker since they fired his writer. I hate this, personally. I grew up listening to Brian Bloom (Varricās VA) and heās just one of my absolute favourites. But I donāt think Varric is gonna make it.
The how? I think, narratively, theyāll do it in a way that hurts Solas a very great deal. In DAI, Varric is one of the few people that Solas listens to. Apologizes to and actually talks to with a sense of respect in his tone that he rarely does with anyone else. Given events in the comic The Missing where Solas saves Varric several timesā¦ yeah. ā
ļø
If I were writing it? It would be an angsty as fuck scene where either something Solas does accidentally kills Varric in a friendly fire isnāt friendly sort of situation or that Solas canāt get there in time to save one of the few people he actually probably considers a friend.
So, the pain of Varricās death will be what in the writing/editing trade we call a pinch-point for Solasās character arc. How the player decides what happens will likely be one of those crucial choices matters points that will turn Solas down a darker path or possibly toward a redemption arc.
Flemythal isnāt dead. Iāve talked before about how she is not the happy fluffy bunny version of a mother goddess. Sure, she might be a mother goddess. But sheās the type that reminds us that mother nature is often more red in tooth and claw than nurturing.
And the lady is bent. Bent on revenge. Bent on using people to get her revenge. Justā¦ if she ever was the good and kind person that Solas remembers? She definitely isnāt anymore.
I have a feeling given one of the stories in Tevinter Nights that FleMythal has infected Solas (vs sharing her power in a simple power up to help him save people move) with the dragon soul. Which could have been part of Mythal's soul even before the dragon had it, if some theories are correct. Thereās been a lot of imagery and description of a dreadwolf like creature that is half lupine, half dragon. So, something is going on there.
And honestly, I think thatās going to be Solasās breaking point with mommy dearest. (Please, please donāt let them have been lovers, that will squick me out so fucking bad.)
āBetrayal is always worse.ā Is one of Solasās really heartfelt lines in DAI. If Iām right, and FleMythal somehow manipulated that dragon soul she got from Kieren (talk about fucked up action right there) so that itās gonna change Solas into a half dragon half wolf demon thingā¦ welp.
I think FleMythal will find that Solas has a bit more backbone than he ever had in the past. Heās not alone now. He knows heās not alone. Heās got friends. Heās got someone who deeply loves him in a romanced Solavellan playthrough. I donāt think Solas is going to be very happy with his dearest ābest of themā Mythal.
Best of them? Yeah. It doesnāt mean she was actually good.
So Mythal isnāt dead. I think sheās likely to be one of if not the BBEG along with whoever that voice was at the end of the teaser. My money is on Troy Baker āļøfor the VA and Iām really curious if Iām right. Iām thinking thatās probably Elgarānan. God of Vengeance. Perhaps Mythal and Elgarānan patch up whatever divine argument theyāve been having via celestial couples therapy or something. Who knows.
I think weāre going to see a split path depending on the choices of the player for Solas. Depending on our choices, he could go really dark, or he could have a redemption arc. Patrick Weekes tweeted to me that āthereās a possibility of a happy ending for Solavellanā so I still have hope. I trust Weekes to write a satisfying conclusion to the Solavellan Romance. (I just donāt trust Bioware as far as I can throw them.) Weekes was the lead writer on this game, so I think itās a good possibility that thatās how itās going to be structured.
I think the game will very possibly be a multi-act structure like DAI. The first act is possibly going to be like the Hinterlands leading up to Coryphyfish blowing the hell out of Haven. I think the veil coming down is going to either be what starts off the game ā
(like the explosion of the conclave in DAI) or will be the final ending situation of Act 1. Again. Player choices will likely affect this to some extent.
But yāall? That veil is coming down. ā
And yes. Iām aware of that silly new name for the game. I donāt like it. (That ātheā was a mistake. Veilguard by itself wouldāve been much better linguistically.) But if youāve been following my ramblings about Dragon Age for a while, yāall will know I have issues with their linguistic usage and editing already.
Dumped Drunk and Dalishious did a fantastic piece on her blog about the veil. Itās here if you havenāt read it. Firstly, the veil was never meant to exist in THEDAS in the first place. If you deep dive the lore (and trust me, I really have. A LOT.) Itās obvious that the veil has been the cause of more problems than it has fixed. Itās been slowly killing magic in THEDAS since its creation. It has to come down. Itās also as holey a grannyās doilies anyway. Solas taking it down in a controlled fashion is very likely going to prevent far more deaths than if it keeps just falling apart piecemeal like itās been doing forever. Itās unfixable and it really really needs to go. ā
So once that veil dropsā¦ I donāt think itās going to be as horrific as everyone has been bellyaching about forever. Solasās often misquoted and wildly overblown lines from Trespasser (seriously do yāall even know what the word genocide means? You make me doubt.) are very likely a red herring at best. People are being willingly misled. ā
I canāt really blame yāall.
Weekes is an absolute Master at playing peopleās expectations and assumptions off of their preconceived notions, then throwing a bomb of āoops you were all wrong and it was right in front of you the entire timeā. Theyāve even said they really love to write things like that. I want to write as well as Weekes does when I grow up.
Humans existed before the veil. Why wouldnāt they afterward? Given some of the lore, Qunari also existed before the veil. Why wouldnāt they continue to? Will there be chaos? Yup. ā
But change is often painful. And if anything needs change itās the world of THEDAS. (Both for story reasons and for gameplay reasons.)
One of the changes I think weāre likely to see is the implosion of the Chantry. (I am absolutely hoping for this. Iām not a fan of organized religion on a grand scale like that and the Chantry has soooooo damned many skeletons in its closets and atrocities under its belt that I will absolutely celebrate when it burns to the ground.)
Which will happen if it comes out that Solas put up the veil in the first place and took it down too. The Chantry either outright claims or strongly insinuates that the maker put up the veil. Itās the cornerstone of their entire faith. Also, in the story Genetivi Dies in the End in Tevinter Nights, Genetivi is absolutely wrecked by the discovery that everything heās ever written as a travelling Chantry Scholar has been a lie. The Chantry is going down.
So, thereās gonna be some chaos there. And thatās not going to be Solasās fault because that veil is coming down anyway.
And can you imagine the absolutely hilarious chaos thatās gonna happen when word leaks that an elven god-mage was the one who is technically the āmakerā by Chantry doctrine? With all the horrific racism and sheer awfulness the Chantry has done to elves over the centuries? Iām popping popcorn.
I think weāre gonna see Felassan again. ā
ļø Cause that elf isnāt dead. And no, Solas didnāt kill him. Please trust me, Iāve combed through all the lore, Iāve read The Masked Empire where it supposedly happened several times, and there is not a shred of actual proof that Solas was the one who did the deed. Itās a Weekes misdirection again. They've got the nickname Tricksy Weekes for a reason.
The actual facts about the 'murder'.
It was someone Felassan worked for.
Someone he knew.
Someone who he knew wouldn't listen to his reasoning. (Solas has been shown to actually listen to his friends and let them change his mind.)
Someone who could very likely have been female because Felassan likens the murderer to Brialla.
It was someone who could fade-walk or move in the fade.
Mythal can do that.
A Somniari/Dreamer can also fade-walk.
Probably most of the still extant Elvhenan can do it (which there were quite a few of in Mythalās temple).
And we know from DA2 that at least one modern born Somniari/Dreamer exists in the world.
Point being, thereās no actual āSolas killed Felassanā spelled out anywhere. No, not even in Cole's lines in Trespasser. Those lines only indicate that Solas knows about Felassanās ādeathā and that heās sad about it. Cole talks in riddles and references to modern TV shows all the time. I have no idea why people take him even remotely literally.
I have a few theories about this.
IF Felassanās spirit actually was killed in the fade (possible) his body wasnāt. His body wouldāve been just lying there in the woods breathing like any other Somniari. Possibly made tranquil (which we know can be reversed).
What if Solas lost his original body in putting up the Veil?
What if he had a deal with Felassan or maybe came to Felassan to help him get back to his body after the attack and Felassan decided he was done and wanted to move on?
They're said to be friends. Never said to be employer/employee.
If Solas was awake and in the fade and sensed an attack on Felassan, he'd certainly have gone to help.
What if he gave his body to Solas?
Felassan's 'death' chronologically lines up to when Solas 'woke up'.
Felassan has purple eyes. So does Solas.
Felassan has fade-green magic. So does Solas.
Felassan is incredibly powerful. Stares at Solas.
Felassan knows far more about Fen'harel than even a scholar would.
Felassan knew far more about Eluvians, ancient Elvhenan, and The Forgotten Ones (Imshael is a Forgotten One) than anyone would reasonably expect any elf to know.
Felassan let Imshael see into his head about what was coming in the future. Which Imshael almost got off on. Imshael loves destruction and chaos.
I can make a list as long as my arm on similarities there. So, either Solas didnāt kill Felassan and the old? Felassan will be in the game once the veil falls, or it will be revealed that Solas has actually been wearing a (voluntary because a soul cannot take a body involuntarily) Felassan suit the entire time.
Probably blew some minds there, huh?
So given that Weekes has said that if Felassan was a popular enough character they would consider bringing him backā¦ I think itās likely weāll see something to do with him again.
Also? The sheer hilarity factor of elves who do not want magic (Fenris anyone?) getting magic returned to them is going to be sweet.
I think weāll see blood magic as a much bigger mechanic than in previous games. (And I hope they did some work on it to make it make more sense this time.) The game is going to have a lot of Tevinter content. Blood magic is a big deal there. Ergoā¦ itās likely.
Given some of the things that happened in Tevinter Nights, which honestly really feels like a teaser book to DA4 (I really hate the Veilguard name) I think itās likely that weāll see the Templars again. Theyāve been in every game and book so far. I doubt theyād get rid of the useless bastards in this one.
Given some of the things in Tevinter Nights, I think itās possible weāll see just as many puzzles as we did in DAI, if not more. Iām hoping for more. I do love puzzles in these kinds of games.
I believe itās highly possible that whoever drank from the Well is going to be completely fucked. Especially, if they follow a ākill Solasā route. Remember who the well binds you to in Trespasser? Bingo.
I think itās very likely that someone close to the main character is going to be a dual agent of Fenāharel. And it will not be someone we expect. Weāre all gonna be side eyeing the mages after the last three games. But what if itās a warrior or rogue who hides their magic? There was at least one character that completely hid their magic in Tevinter Nights.
Weāre going to see more of the Evanuris and The Nameless/Forgotten ones. I base that on Imshael being in DAI and in Masked Empire and some of the dialogue between Felassan and Imshael.
Titans. Weāre going to see the titans waking up and being royally pissed off. This is going to cause so much chaos for the dwarves. Who will also regain magic and a kinda creepy hive-mind thing, too. Again. Thatās not going to be Solasās fault.
Weāll have at least one Gala event. Very possibly in Minrathous or Vyrantium. Hopefully with better clothing.
Finally, for things I think likelyā¦ The Grand Necropolis in Nevarra is gonna burn. People seem to forget that Solas doesnāt just fight for the freedom of the Elves. He fights for the freedom of spirits too.
In case you havenāt read itā¦ the Nevarrans imprison spirits in the corpses of their dead using mages called the Mortalitasi. I really donāt think that is going to sit well with Solas. In fact, I know it doesnāt. Itās spelled out in Tevinter Nights.
I think itās probably going to be a quest line for the main character to go and save the necropolis or let it burn to free the spirits. This, of course, will be one of the choices that matter and likely another pinch point on whether Solas goes dark or gets a redemption arc. It will also deeply affect Nevarran politics and the way the country is run. The Mortalitasi basically rule the monarchs of Nevarra sooooo. Itās gonna cause chaos there too.
Weāll obviously see a lot of chaos with the Qunari. Their culture is splintering already. The Antaam have decided to go off the rails and attack anything and everything. Maybe the Ben-Hassrath will be able to rein that in. Maybe not. I donāt have very many predictions on the Qunari to be honest. Theyāre at war with Tevinter at the end of Tevinter Nights so that war will figure heavily in the game, most likely. But how thatās going to play out I havenāt a clue.
Some mechanics I think we might see.
Fade-touched weaponry that can stop mages.
Elemental interactions. (IE: Magic lightning x water = lots of zap)
Magically treated arrows. ā
ļø
More magical bombs and poison effects. (I might be just wishfully dreaming there because one of the things I miss from DAO is the poisons and traps mechanics. They felt like an afterthought in DA2 and DAI. I want to be able to make cool traps and set up ambushes again.) But there was that story with Dorian in Tevinter Nights where several of those things were used, so maybe? It would be cool.
I think itās likely that weāll see the Despair Demon from Tevinter Nights. And Iām still so mad that they fired the writer of that story. Itās one of my favourites.
Some things that are very possible? But Iām not sure of and could just be wishful thinking.
I think we might see Abelas again. (Abelas romance? Pretty please? āš) His story does have one of those endings that kills him so itās possibly just wishful thinking. But they brought Leliana back for DAI, so I donāt see why they couldnāt with Abelas too. And also, I have a voice kink and love his VA Matthew Gravelle.
We might see non-linear storytelling. I kind of hope we do because I love non-linear storytelling. Perhaps one storyline will be Arlathan (through dreams or time travel perhaps?) and the fall of it so we finally get some answers to all of this lore. (Please let us get some answers!)
We may see some problems from a rather irrational faction of people who say theyāre working for Solas but are using methods he would never approve of. They may be sort of like the Venatori in the last game. Though I do think itās likely we might have to fight a few more of the Venatori too. ā
Theyāre still out there having really messed up rituals and stuff to destroy things.
I think itās possible given a few clues in the lore and in Tevinter Nights that weāre either going to see not just a double blight (regular darkspawn and red lyrium darkspawn) but a triple blight with the green/yellow lyrium found in Ghilan'nainās labs. Remember that Ramesh only destroyed one of them. There are eleven more. I think thatās going to very possibly be a big part of this game.
Settings/Levels/Areas I think likely.
So, we already know that the game will be taking place in the north of THEDAS. Thatās a no brainer after the map reveal in the teaser.
But where exactly will they take us?
In Tevinter, I think itās very possible weāll see Minrathous ā
and Vyrantium. We may see the Black Divineās/Archonās palace.
Weāll see Arlathan Forest. ā
That Iām almost certain of. Weāll probably also see ancient Arlathan somehow. (Dreams or barely used time-travel mechanic from DAI?)
Weāre going to be spending a lot of time in the deep roads and even farther below the deep roads. And dear developers please let me have some answers to all this lore.
We may spend some time inside a Titan again.
Pre-veil drop, we may spend some time in the fade. I actually hope that with the veil dropping we get to rescue whoever got left behind in DAI. That would make my heart so happy.
Weāre likely to see the crossroads at least a little bit.
Antiva! Gods Iām looking forward to seeing Antiva.
Anderfels/Weisshaupt. We have no idea at the end of DAI or Tevinter Nights or Last Flight what the hell is going on up there, so I think weāll have to find out in the game. Alsoā¦ more chaos that is most definitely not Solasās fault.
Rivain?
I think weāll see the Golden City. And the Black City. Which is likely the same place.
And I donāt think itās up in the sky. I think itās deep underground below the deep roads.
Ships! I think weāre going to see some more ships. Thatās based on a story in Tevinter nights and some of the splash art. But gods I really want more ships. Especially in a place like Minrathous or Antiva for fuckās sake!
I think we might see some underwater levels for various reasons. And I hope we do.
These next things are honestly my hopes and dreams that would make me so happy, but I have little to back them up with as far as lore or books/comics and supplementary materials.
Polyamory options. PLEASE give me polyam romance options. BG3 did it. Itās 2024 and only 30% of dating people are monogamous. Get with the times! āļø
I want CC body sliders so bad. ā
Give me the ability to make a fat player character please! Not just because a lot of gamers tend to be on the heavier side but honestly? Because a fat adventurer is going to be able to go farther than any skinny twig. Real strong men/women/enbies do not look like gym bunnies and models. They have a good layer of fat over that muscle for stability. Guess what fat is? Itās energy storage. A fat adventurer is going to be able to survive longer than a twig. I could go onā¦ but come on Bioware. Be brave. Let me have a fat adventurer. ā
ļø
Decent. Fucking. Hair. ā
Please let the CC have decent hair options. LONG hair options! Let me have my long haired elfy prince dude!
Isabela cameo. Sheās one of my favourite DA2 characters and some of the early splash art makes me hopeful weāll see her again. ā
ļø
Iām hoping for DAO origin style stories for the Main Player Character. But ideally? Weād have something like BG3 where we could play one of a number of origin stories or make our own blank slate character. ā Given the gossip going around the gaming community Iām thinking this is unlikely, but damn do I want it.
Useful. Mounts. Please let us have actually useful mounts. And GRIFFONS. ā
Give me flying mounts you cowards!
Prosthetic using characters. ā
Bioware has the worst track record when it comes to ableism, but gods please. Theyāve got it set up perfectly with Inky losing their arm. Thereās a prosthetic leg user in Tevinter Nights. PLEASE LET ME HAVE PROSTHETIC USING CHARACTERS.
Better Crafting Options. The crafting was okay in DAI. Especially if you mod it in so you can buy the stuff to do so easier (I really hate killing dragons but itās the best crafting material!). But it also often felt more like an afterthought?
Better. Clothes. Seriously. Give me some razzle dazzle with the clothing. ESPECIALLY since weāre going to Tevinter where how you dress is absolutely important!
I know this is sniffing the genie smoke here, but could we have actually attractive armour options? With BRIGHT colours? Research shows that a lot of historical armour was 1. Gorgeous and well fitting. 2. Brightly painted! Let me have bright colours! (And please not the yellow plaid. Ugh.)
I hope for more gardening options in whatever base we end up using. I loved the gardening options in DAI, but they werenāt big enough for my plant loving heart.
I really want to see Solas in flying Wolfie form. We see him like that in Tevinter Nights. So, I really hope we get to see him like that in game.
Finallyā¦ and I know Iām high on my own hopes hereā¦ I really hope we get the gifting options back. Completely unattached to approval is fine. I just want to be able to find the perfect gift for my companions like I do in real life with my friends. It brings me so much joy.
Things theyāre likely to fuck up.
Sadly, I think thereās some things Bioware is very likely to fuck up. This could just be me being too pessimistic, but theyāve screwed these things up throughout the entire series and to my knowledge they didnāt hire any diversity consultants in the making of DA4 soooooā¦
Ableism. Bioware has a terrible record when it comes to ableism. ā
(the demon design is going to cause visual strain and possibly bad effects for epileptic gamers).
White-washing. The North of THEDAS is like the South of Earth. If they make most of the people there have light skin I will probably boycott the fuck out of Bioware for the rest of my life. ā
ļø
No fat character ability in CC.
Really fucked up hair options. Seriously Bioware. Itās bad.
And I think theyāre going to be in trouble when it comes to the Lords of Fortune. Look. I love the idea of the class and I even love how a lot of them are described in the books. But itās absolutely glomming onto the stereotype of the Romani, and I donāt think thatās going to go over well at all. It wonāt for me with my Romani heritage, and it really shouldnāt for anyone. Cause you know what that stereotypical usage is? Itās Racism. Bioware also doesnāt have the best track record regarding racism either.
As more thoughts come to me Iāll either append stuff to this post or do others (probably the latter.)
And here are my links if you want to toss me a buck or two as a tip. I'm recovering from a pulmonary embolism (do not recommend) and every penny helps because I'm the sole income for my family.
And if you're in Canada like me you can use Interac. [email protected].
As always, thanks for reading my rambles!

Dearest Zelda,
First let me say what a joy it was to receive your latest letter! Truly I was so delighted upon seeing it in the mailbox that I ran straight for Isaiah. He is not one to worry, but when our latest contact to the address we had for you in New Orleans once again went unanswered, I fear even he had begun to grow concerned.Ā
I am delighted to read that your silence was not without good reason, and to see the wedding portrait you sent of you and Antoine as well as the photo of your daughter. How she has grown since we last saw her! She is not much younger than our eldest now, who I fear every day is so like your brother there is simply no one thing in this world that can tame her.
It does sound like your Violette is much the same, and how much joy it brings me to think that perhaps it is Florenceās spirit manifesting through them.
Our youngest have also begun to grow like weeds, much to my chagrin. Does it ever seem like sometimes you awaken and itās as though the grass has grown a foot overnight? That is oft how I feel looking at them, and Rosalie seems to desire all the independence of her namesake.Ā
She wasnāt but a day over six when she began poking into Rosellaās old room, curiously pulling forth toys and books from the gathered dust like a miniature treasure hunter. Truthfully, I could not tell you why your brother and I had yet to bring the room back into the light of day. Once you took the portrait from it it was like a pall had lifted, but I feared that stirring it would upset your brotherās long-standing grief over your mother, so I darenāt say a word.Ā
But as children often do, Rosalie saw little of that other than a space to call her own, and we have now finally found the heart through her to give it a new life. I do hope your sister would love to see her in there, playing dolls and writing grand romantic stories for them aloud to her ever attentive twin. It is a joy to see them rediscover the beauty in the world that pain often hides, is it not?
Have you written to Virginia as well? I fear she may not be quite as conscious of the time that has gone by. With the dissolution of The Womenās Political and Social Union, her work has turned increasingly to involvement with the Womenās Labor League, eventually coming to the attention of the Labor Party themselves.Ā
I will admit that I am not as informed on the goings on of London as I perhaps should be, but even still it came as no surprise when the party nominated her as their candidate for Member of Parliament. As she so painstakingly explained it, the party itself has suffered great losses from their prominence in the 20s, what with the general bias of their associations with the communists and their seeming inability to stop the rampant unemployment that has taken hold even here.Ā
I suppose she is fully aware that this was the cause for her nomination, as she was able to run more on the merit of her charitable associations than the negative reputation the party has recently taken on. Yet if she was surprised that this platform worked, she has never let on; but her work in the House of Commons has all but taken over her life since her election in 1931. How I do miss her and Wally, but that doesnāt stop me from wishing that she keeps her seat in the upcoming election of ā35, even if it means we will see less of them than ever.
I imagine that what little free time she has is now spent nearby at Oxford, where Wally was accepted upon his graduation from secondary school. While Iām sure being the son of a governing member of parliament was not a mark against him, I have no doubt he was accepted there on the merits of his intelligence alone. Even from the small amount of time he spent here in his teen years, it was clear to me what a bright boy he was.Ā
I am told he is majoring in physics there, a field that even in the briefest explanations Virginia has given me is quite beyond my comprehension. I suppose what else are we to expect with Virginia as his mother? Iām sure heās had but the most informative, intellectual upbringing, even when it must have been colored by the high expectations that I can only imagine your sister set for him.
Despite her near constant work and best attempts to shield her vulnerability, there are moments when we speak and it seems as though Wally's departure brought forth much of the buried sentimentality within her. I suppose under it all she is but a mother like us all, proud of her child and yet sorrowful as his life grows beyond her own.
Before I sign off your brother has instructed me to ask you to include the most minute of details regarding your predicaments with the soil in your next letter. He has also asked me to attach a veritable field guide of advice, although I have told him that everything you have written points to the fact that you are in waters we could not navigate any better even if we tried.
I must admit that when I hear the word soil I think simply of the ground beneath verdant green grasses or darkened Bramblewood canopies. It makes me realize just how little of the world I have seen, but also how lucky we have been even in the throes of what seem to be such tumultuous times. I can only hope that such good fortune will last in England for many years to come, and that some of our knowledge may bring success to your efforts as well.
I must once again thank you for the photo of you and Antoine on your wedding day. Weāve placed it in our living room next to the photo of your mother and father when they were wed, as seems only right. In return I have also included a photo of all of us when we were last together to visit Wallyās new home in Oxford; although Iāll be the first to admit I do hope we spend the next high holiday together in Henford instead. Anything that close to London makes me long for the forest more than anything else.
Your mother once told me that she sent you every photo we took, and that you have been collecting them over the years. I hope this can make a welcome addition to such a tradition, and do always know that you are welcome here should you ever find need of solace in the place you once called home.Ā
Your sister in marriage,
Ā Summer Darlington

Mound of Butter - Antoine Vollon, 1875. Requested by @nintheyeblinder
I put this one in its own post because you sent a few in an ask and I'm trying to space these out a little. Life chugs along despite my urge to write these all day. Also you gotta give yourself breathing room between these, otherwise you won't come in with a clear head.
I have never wanted to take a bite of butter more in my life. It looks so inviting, supple. That shade of yellow is beautiful (I'm a huge yellow enjoyer). I love the texture left behind on it. The cheese cloth around it looks so soft.
I think there's something kind of boob-like about this. (Followers, is there a word like phallic or yonic for boobs?). The way the butter is shaped, the little mound on top. I dunno. It reminds me of what it's like to look down at a boob or how they hang when you're on your hands and knees.
All of that combines well and I would give it a 5/10. I'd need a bit more going on to give it a higher score.

[002-A20] Antoine on the Seaside
SummaryĀ ā āļø Although the fight managed to be stopped, Ushio and Muneuji still havenāt made up yet. And to make matters worse, the weather forecast for the day of the summer festival is making the students depressedā¦
Charactersā āļø Ushio, Nanaki, Akuta, Kiroku, Muneuji, Sakujiro
Location: Tomioka Hachiman Shrine in Shodoshima
Kaede: Aandā¦ thereā¦ Phew.
Gannosuke-san, I finished moving the equipment.
Gannosuke: Alright, then let us install it as it is.
Kaede: Rightā¦ā¦
Gannosuke: You seemed to be anxious about the weather.
Kaede: Yeah, the chance of rain is around 80% soā¦ I feel like Iām just praying for that 20% miracle to happen.
Gannosuke: Letās believe in that then. The Gods of the weather are prone to change it, after all.
Kaede: Yes!
Gannosuke: This is changing the subject a bit, butć¼ć¼
This morning, Kinugawa-kun didnāt appear at the Atelier.
The lanterns were still in the process of being completed, so I was a bit concerned since he seemed to be rooted to the same spot when trying to complete it.
Did something happen?
Kaede: Well, the truth isć¼ć¼
Sakujiro: I do not believe the act of fighting each other is bad itself.
Sometimes, this is an important act in order to have a heart to heart in times of conflict.
Muneuji: ā¦ā¦ā¦
Sakujiro: Even if that is the case, that does NOT mean you should throw him 30 timesā¦! What would have happened if he acquired a traumatic brain injury!?
Ushio: ā¦ Itās fine, I was on the defensive.
Kaede: (Heās used to being thrown around huhā¦)
Sakujiro: That prideful attitude will bring you ruin if you are not careful. In any case, the both of you need to reflect on your actions. Afterwards, shake each otherās hands and reconcile.
Muneuji: ā¦ā¦ā¦
Ushio: ā¦ā¦ā¦
Kaede: (Theyāre turning away from each otherā¦ It doesnāt look like theyād be shaking hands any time soonā¦)
Hey you two, Iād appreciate it if you could tell me what even caused you two to fight in the first place?
Akuta: Hey, so is it really gonna rain on the day of the festival?
Kaede: Mmā¦ According to the weather forecastā¦ Yeah, it seems so.
Nanaki: So it really is true?
Kiroku: ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦
Muneuji: Is there anything we could do about it?
Kaede: As of right now, we just have to leave it up to luckā¦ I guess.
Akuta: ā¦ Then, in that caseā¦
Kaede: Akuta-kunć¼ć¼
Akuta: That means, all the food stalls will have a BUNCHA food left over! Itās basically an all-you-can-eat buffet! YAAY! Takoyaki, Okonomiyaki, Yakisoba, AND Baby Castella!
Kaede: ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦
Akuta: I donāt wanna eat tomorrow ācuz I need to keep my stomach empty! On the festival day, Iām gonna fill up on all the street food I can eat!
Ushio: Hah?
Nanaki: Youāre seriouslyā¦ Nowās not the time to be yapping about stupid stuff like that!
Ushio: ā¦ This guy wouldnāt know how to be negative if it could save his life. Great that someone could be happy about this I guess.
Muneuji: Of course itās good to be positive, but itās a bit tactless in certain cases.
The food at the stalls should be served to guests. Why would you be happy that you can eat it all yourself?
Akuta: I mean, Iād be happy if itās sunny for the summer festival and everyoneād get to eat stuff, but Iād also be happy if itās rainy since Iād be lucky to get a lotta food to myself. So? Is it fine now?
If you put it like that isnāt it reasonable? That way, no matter what weather it is, itād be a win-win! Right?
Ushio: Reasonable, unreasonable, whatever I donāt care. Such a pain. Dull.
Nanaki: This is what I was talking about. If you think something is troublesome and refuse to continue the conversation, nothing will change. Donāt give up before the conversation is even over.
Ushio: How about you go and tell that to Buddha Statue over there? Heās always keeping quiet and itās been pissing me off.
Kiroku: ā¦ā¦Ahā¦ā¦ Iā¦ā¦
Kaede: Okay thatās it everyone, no more fighting! Be quiet!
Sakujiro: ā¦ā¦ā¦
Kaede: Oh no everyone, it looks like Sakujiro-sensei has a troubled look on his face! If you keep this up, the lecture might drag on for a looong timeā¦
Muneuji: ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦
Ushio: Tchā¦
Nanaki: ā¦ā¦ā¦
Sakujiro: ā¦ā¦ā¦
ā¦ Alright, it took 50.6 seconds for everyone to finally settle down.
Akuta: Wow, that was a cool ass line just now! Itās such a teacher-esque line, Iām gonna steal it for my next movieļ½āŖĀ
Nanaki: We literally just got told to shut upā¦ Sigh, whatever, Iām done.
I get why we were wrong. So sorry. Weāll be careful not to fight in the future.
Is that what you wanted to hear? Iām getting tired now so Iām gonna go to bed. Letās go, Kinugawa-kun.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā
Kiroku: ā¦ā¦ Mhm.
Ushio: āKay, then I will too.
Since I got thrown around so many times, my back hurts.
Muneuji: ā¦ā¦ā¦
Ushio: Are you gonna sleep in the living room, Muu-chan? You probably donāt wanna see my face, andć¼ć¼
Ushio: I donāt want to see your face right now, either.
Muneuji: Fine.
Kaede: ā¦ Thatās what happened.
Gannosuke: I see, I believe I understand the full picture now.
As for the quarrel, it will resolve itself in due time. Butć¼ć¼
Thereās no point in lying around and rotting just because it is going to rain.
Whether you are talking about a trip or an event like this, itās not uncommon for it to start raining once you look forward to it.
Kaede: (Sakujiro-san also said something like this earlierā¦)
(Hmā¦ If I were a Ward Mayor, what would I do in this situation?)Ā
(Itās almost like Iām being testedć¼ć¼ ā¦ā¦ Ha!)
No wayā¦ donāt tell me Iām being testedā¦!?
Gannosuke: About?
Kaede: Nothing! Iām just gonna check on everyone, so Iām going back to the inn for a bitā¦!
Location:Ā Otomari Chuuzaemon Inn in Shodoshima
Kaede: Nanaki-kunā¦ Nanaki-kunā¦!
ā¦ā¦ā¦
He hasnāt come outā¦ Is he not in his room?
(I guess I donāt have any other choiceā¦ I should just go back to the living room.)
Kiroku: ā¦ā¦ā¦
Kaede: Kiroku-kun! Is Nanaki-kun not in his room?
Kiroku: ā¦ā¦Heās there, butā¦ā¦ Ever since last nightā¦ Heās been in āSulking in bedā mode.
Kaede: I seeā¦
Kiroku: ā¦ā¦ā¦
Kaede: (Kiroku-kun also has a gloomy expression on his faceā¦
Heās been working hard to make somethingā¦ I wonder if itās a teru teru bouzu?)
Gannosuke-san was pretty worried, y'know. He said that you didnāt come to the Atelier this morning.
Kiroku: ā¦ā¦ā¦
Kaede: All thatās left is the finishing touches, right?
I get that the teru teru bouzu is important, but I think you should finish the lanterns firstć¼ć¼
Kiroku: ā¦ā¦ I feltā¦ relieved.
That people wonātā¦ see the lanternsā¦ I can justā¦ get them done.
Kaede: Kiroku-kunā¦
Kaede: (The one in this room isć¼ć¼ļ¼
Ushio: ā¦ā¦ā¦
Kaede: Ushio-kun!
Do you know where Akuta-kun and Muneuji-kun are?
Ushio: They went out.
Kaede: Okay. Thank you.
Ushio: ā¦ā¦ā¦
Kaede: (He has his back turned to me like heās trying to reject any sort of human interactionā¦ Maybe itās best for me to leave him alone right nowā¦)
Location:Ā Beach in Shodoshima
Akuta: ā¦ā¦ā¦
Kaede: There you are! Akuta-kun!
Akuta: Hah? Ohh itās Sensei. Yo.
Kaede: Yo. ā¦What were you doing, just staring out into the sea like that?
Akuta: Weell, I havenāt eaten anything since this morning right? So I was getting hungry. And I was just wondering to myself if I could eat some seaweed that got washed up on shore yāknow?
Kaede: Rawā¦? Absolutely not.
Akuta: Yeah I thought so. Ughhā¦ Iām so hungry thoughā¦ā¦
If seaweedās a no go, theeen can I eat some kelp?
Kaede: Absolutely not.
Yāknow, everyone is all depressed over the weather for tomorrow butā¦ For some reason, you stay the same as always huh Akuta-kun.
Itās a little relieving.
Akuta: Thereās no use in thinking about dark stuff like that. At least for me. Itās more like I canāt think about it. I get nosebleeds when I think too much.
But everyone will probably cheer up sooner or later, wonāt they? I mean, theyāll probably realize thereās no point in worrying about it if they canāt change anything.
But, when itās about rainā¦ We gotta do something about it, yeah?
Kaede: Thatāsā¦
(Saying something like āI canāt do anything about itāright now is ā¦ I just canāt tell that to Akuta-kun and the othersā¦)
(But, if I could try to at least cheer them upā¦)
Akuta: But, uguhhhhā¦ Iām tryna think of something soo hardā¦! If kelp isnāt good then maybe something like norić¼ć¼
Kaede: Akuta-kun!
Akuta: Yes!
Kaede: When tomorrow comes, and it does end up rainingā¦ What weāve done and are doing in preparation for the festival on this study tourć¼ć¼
Even if we donāt get to show hospitality to the customersā¦ Our efforts wonāt go to waste.
I know that it might feel disappointing this time because of the weather, but Iāll make sure that everyoneās efforts are rewarded.
Iāll even negotiate with Shodoshimaās community center to have everyoneās work displayed there as well. Iāll make sure they see the light of day.
So I donāt want you to worry about the weather. You should just continue the preparations like normal.
Akuta: Mmā¦ Nnā¦ā¦? Um?
Kaede: No matter what happens, the experience you have of working hard with your friends will be an experience that will stick with you for all of your life.
Itāll be a good memory that you and your friends can look back at in the future.
Akuta: ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦
Kaede: A lot of things donāt end up going our way no matter how hard we try, but we can use that disappointment as momentum for the nextć¼ć¼
Akuta: ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦
Kaede: Umā¦
ā¦ Whatās wrong? Your expression looks kinda displeased.
Akuta: Nothing really. Nothingās wrong. Iām gonna go to the toilet!Ā
Kaede: Ah, Akuta-kunā¦!
He leftā¦

This time, I had a harder time finding the reference to the title. The only thing that comes up when I search for that exact phrase in Japanese is a movie called The Hairdresserās Husband? But I canāt see the reason why they picked it plot wise LMFAO. If I squint and tilt my head, I can kinda see why itād be an Akuta reference? Which is probably why he voices the title in the game, and why heās at the seaside in the end. But I have seen art stuff! And all the comments (One singular comment) I see about the seaside in the movie just say that it's a pretty scene visualā¦ so maybe it was just supposed to be a visual reference Iām not getting since I never watched it. If you tried to search it in English all that shows up is a restaurant in New Orleans (WAOW NOLA REFERENCE)

Prieur's first work on the metric system
The calling of the Estates Generals and the events that followed shortly after proved to be the perfect occasion for intellectuals, savants and merchants not only to demand, but also to propose new reforms, aimed to obtain a common metric system for the entire realm of France. A system, whose unity and integrity would have prevented any more frauds and mistakes, caused by the incredible diversity of measurement units in use under the Ancien RĆ©gime.
Driven by the optimism and the changes brought by the Revolution, and encouraged by his mentor Guyton, the young Claude-Antoine Prieur ā at the time still Duvernois ā wished to give his contribution to the cause as well. As some notes currently kept at the archives of the Paris Polytechnic School show, Prieur started working on the topic already 1789. In the early days of February 1790, he sent to the National Assembly the result of his efforts: a memoir titled āMĆ©moire sur la nĆ©cessitĆ© et les moyens de render uniformes, dans le royaume, toutes les mesures dāĆ©tendue et de pesanteurā. (1)
It is a comprehensive work, which distinguishes itself for the detailed implementation of the decimal scale in all measures, except those of time, and the meticulous description of both the theory behind the new proposed units and the methods to craft their respective standards. The memoir also includes a solid set of historical and scientific reference material, on which the theory in based on, and plans to help common people get used to the new system; things that other notable works on the same topic lack. (2)
Below the cut, one can find an English translation I did of the memoir conclusion, which sums up in the shape of decree articles the whole proposal. Notes related to the post and the unit names are added at the end.
I believe to have proved in this memoir the inconveniences of the diversity of measures and the infinite benefits that a law, aimed to make them uniform throughout all the realm, would bring to science, commerce and arts. I committed myself to find the basis, on which these measures should be founded, in order to make their prototypes immutable, and the principles, from which it would be convenient that they are derived. I showed how these measures could easily be adapted to our needs. I indicated the precautions, by which this innovation would cause neither great embarrassments, nor great expenses. According to these principles and to the measures derived from them, I proposed a type of calculation, particularly appropriate to simplify all operations in the fields of business, trade and civil life; that until now has only been used by some savants, but whose knowledge and even habit are easy to acquire. Lastly, the introduction of this calculation and its advantages led me to wish that the name and value of the smallest coin of our currency should be changed to have more accordance between numeration and effective payments.
These are the subjects that I thought deserved to be treated with all the necessary details to prove them. I took advantage of everything that has been written before me on this matter and one might say that I added little of my own. However, it seemed to me that the most desirable way to clarify the opinions [on the matter] was to present in a single work, and by relying on what other famous authors have already proposed, the true principles, their consequences, their applications to all sort of measures of different materials, the means relative to the execution of the project, the precautions to take in order to maintain its integrity, the education to spread so that the people can promptly enjoy the benefits of an enlightened legislation and the remedies to be applied to reduce the friction that always comes with such changes. This is what I have been aiming to do: I shall leave it to you to judge how far I have succeeded. If there were still some difficulties to clarify, some parts to revision in order to bring this work to perfection, I would be ready to devote to it all the necessary time, with no other ambition than to be useful to my country and, in some ways, to give my contribution to the accomplishment of such a great project.
It only remains for me to give, through articles for a decree, the dispositions that I find most suitable to realise the reform in all of its parts. This project will serve, more than anything else, as a way to judge the merit of [my] work and it is the only reason that led me to propose it.
The reasons for the law could be summarised as follows: The uniformity of measures is no less beneficial to commerce, which must be based on honesty, than to society in general, especially to the progress of science. This uniformity is but a consequence of the unity of laws. Lastly, this reform becomes essential to prevent the inconveniences of the diversity of measures, which the division of the realm in departments would make more evident. Considering all of the above, it could be decreed:
ARTICLE ONE Starting from the 1st of January 1791, all measures of weight and length currently existing in the realm shall be abolished and so shall they remain; so that in every juridical, tariff, commercial and public act, no other units shall be used at the time of said day 1 January 1791 than those indicated below. However, people are still free to use the units they consider appropriate, unless in case of controversy, where they shall be converted into the new ones before any judgement is passed.
II All measures, both of weight and length mentioned below shall be called national measures, national weights and so shall their subdivisions, to avoid confusion with the previous ones.
III The third part of the length of the seconds pendulum of the Parish observatory shall constitute the pied national and be the prototype for all the other measures.
IV The pendulum length shall be reported with exactitude on a bar of pure platinum at a given temperature and in the presence of the commissioners, who shall be elected by the royal academy of science and who, in case of necessity, shall promptly work towards a more rigorous determination; the aforementioned platinum bar shall be preciously preserved at the HĆ“tel-de-Ville in Paris as a monument of the operation, to be used in case of need. It shall be redacted by municipal officials a verbal process, both on the deposit of said measure and on the procedures done by the academy commissioners to obtain the silver pied national, which shall serve as prototype.
V The national pied national, determined above, shall be divided into 10 pouches, a pouche into 10 lignes, a ligne into 10 points or primes. The perche nationale shall be 10 national pieds. The milliare national shall be 1000 national perches.Ā The aune nationale shall be 3 and Ā½ national pieds. The arpent national shall be 100 square national perches. The moule national, for firewood, shall be 100 cubic pieds nationaux.
VI The measure of capacity or national measure (which can also be called protade) for grains, powdered and fluid materials and all the other ones which can be measured in recipients shall be the cubic pied national. The national measure will be divided into 10 dƩcades. The dƩcade into 10 Ʃcatades. The Ʃcatade into 10 chiliades. The muid national will be 10 national measures or 10 cubic pieds nationaux. The standards of all aforementioned measures, both those, which are multiples of the cubic pied, and their relative sub-multiples, shall have the shape of a cylinder or that of a truncated cone, for more precision and safety during the calibration, wherever the cubic shape might be inconvenient; all, according to instructions that shall be included in the law.
VII The livre nationale shall be determined by the weight of either distilled or rain water, the latter purged from air, at a fixed temperature, subjected to a volume of 10 cubic pouces nationaux. The livre nationale shall be divided into 10 onces. The once national into 10 gros. The gros national into 10 deniers. The denier national into 10 grains. The grain national into tenths, hundredths, etc. The quintal national shall be 100 livres nationales, or equal to the weight of a cubic pied of water.
VIII A silver livre nationale shall be crafted, whose exactitude shall be acknowledged by the same commissaries of the academy, to be deposited with their verbal process in the archives of the HĆ“tel-de-Ville of Paris and to be used there as prototype. Another silver livre nationale shall be deposited and preserved in the Paris mint, with the weight standards constituting its main subdivisions, which are: an once, a gros, a denier and a grain, all of them made of silver, verified and approved by the academy commissaries.
IX Standards of both the pied national and livre nationale shall be made of copper, the latter together with its weight subdivisions: 5on, 3on, 1on, 5grs, 3grs, 1grs, 5den, 3den, 1den, 5gn, 3gn, 1gn, and 2 demi-grains, which shall be hallmarked by an official, appointed for this purpose, and sent to every district administration, in all the different departments of the realm and three months after the publication of the law.
X The production of the aforementioned measure standards shall be put out to tender at a discount; and, in order to maintain the uniformity of the pied national and, at the same time, to have it done at a moderate price, the successful bidder shall be granted a two-year time privilege for the manufacture of the said pied national only, whether of copper, wood, or other materials; all, on the condition that none is issued until it has been thoroughly checked and hallmarked, and to always have enough to supply the capital and the entire kingdom.
XI Under the authority of the administrative assembly, a verifier shall be elected in each district, whose duty shall be that to preserve and hallmark the measurement standards, to whom every artisan and merchant shall refer for the calibration and hallmark of their own standards; a fee shall be set for the verifier, according to the quality of said weight and measure standards.
XII The verifier chosen in each district can mark the ancient measure standards, provided that their quality is adequate and only after having converted them all into the new ones indicated above or into their multiples.
XIII At the same time as the verifiers place the mark on the measure standards, whether new or ancient, and principally on those of capacity as well as weights, he shall stamp in figures and initial letters, the value or numerical expression of the quantity of the aforementioned measures and weights.
XIV District administrations shall task the aforementioned verifiers, or someone else deemed suitable, to make a general table with the conversion ratios between all the measures in use in their territory and the national ones; the table shall be posted in the town hall of the chief town of said district.
XV In every account relative to finance, commerce and others, sums shall only be expressed in livres-tournois, tenths, hundredths and thousandths. These words, livres-tournois, shall never be separated, until the habit of replacing one expression with the other becomes sufficiently spread; at that point, the law shall state the suppression of the former one. To facilitate both the relationship between decimal calculation and the actual coinage, and the true fractionary payments, some pieces of two sous or decimes, representing one tenth of a livre, and some pieces of sous or demi-decime, representing one twentieth of a livre shall be produced, when new billon coins are made. Lastly, a coin of lower value, under the name of obole or of centime shall be produced as well. Actual billon coins shall maintain their current usage until it is ordered otherwise.
XVI In all accounts, concerning money sums, delivered quantities or works to be measured, said quantities shall be calculated with enough decimal numbers, so that it results a sufficiently exact approximation for fractional sums. Approximations shall be as follows: For all money sums, at least one thousandth of the main unit, or three decimals of the livre-tournois. For all measures of linear extension, one thousandth of the unit of the specified measure, or three decimals. For all measures of surface, ten thousandths of the specified unit, or four decimals. For cubic and capacity measures, ten thousandths of the unit of all measures above the cubic pied included; and only one thousandth of the unit for measures of a lower quantity. For weights, one thousandth of the unit or three decimals; and in case of precious materials, like gold and silver, the unit shall always be the denier national. All of this shall be applied to all measures mentioned above, unless otherwise agreed or ordered in specific cases.
Notes
As already done in a previous post, I chose not to translate the words of all the measurement units in English, since in most cases there's no equivalent in said language. Italics are mine and slightly different from the original work, because I wanted to highlight the words left in French.
(1) A digitized version of Prieur's work can be found on Gallica. Here's a modern transcription of it.
(2) The other works that received mention during the National Assembly sitting of 9th May 1790, when the matter about the diversity of measures was addressed, were DĆ©couverte d'Ć©talons justes, naturels, invariables et universels by Claude-Boniface Collignon, Observations de la SociĆ©tĆ© royale d'agriculture sur l'uniformitĆ© des poids et mesures by Tillet and Abeille and Proposition faite Ć l'AssemblĆ©e nationale, sur les poids et mesures by Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand-PĆ©rigord. It was the latter's proposal that caught the attention of the deputies, despite lacking the rigour and the originality of those of his colleagues.
Notes on the nomenclature
pied [pl. -s] = foot; main unit of length. The most common and used was the pied du roi, equivalent to ~ 32,48 cm or ~ 106, 56 ft. The pied national [pl. nationaux] proposed by Prieur would be ~ 33,13 cm or ~ 108,68 ft.
pouche[pl. -s] = inch.
perche [pl. -s] = "long pole", "staff"; unit of length for long distances.
milliaire [pl. -s] = mile; same as above.
aune [pl. -s] = it doesn't have a translation; this unit was used exclusively for amounts of cloth.
arpent [pl. -s] = no translation; unit for land areas.
muid [pl. -s] = no translation; unit for wheat amounts.
moule [pl. -s] = no translation; unit for firewood amounts.
livre [pl. -s] = pound; unit for both weight and currencies.
once [pl. -s] = ounce.
gros [pl. -s] = "thick penny".
denier [pl. -s] = penny.
grain [pl. -s] = grain; unit for tiny masses
dƩcade, Ʃcatade, chiliade, protade have no translations, since these words are purely Prieur's invention.

Hey, thanks for answering my last ask. I was wondering if you could do somewhat of a meet-cute for the reader and Swann Arluad's character in Romantics anonymous, i just can't get the idea of enjoying good chocolate with the attractive chocolatier. Thanks again, much love ššš
I wish he had played a bigger role in the movie cuz he looks so cute in that outfit<33 I couldn't quite grasp the personality of Antoine but hopefully I didn't mischaracterise him too much ;A; Enjoy!! CW: mint chocolate mentions... for anyone who doesn't like it SFW wc: 477
_____āæĀ°ā¢āÉ·āā¢Ā°āæ ā¦ āæĀ°ā¢āÉ·āā¢Ā°āæ ā¦ āæĀ°ā¢āÉ·āā¢Ā°āæ ā¦ āæĀ°ā¢āÉ·āā¢Ā°āæ_____
At first Antoine worked in "The Chocolate Mill" as a way to make a quick buck. He would've never imagined this would just be his life. It wasn't a dead end job by all means and Mr. BenoƮt paid him quite well so he wasn't complaining.
Lovely as working there was, his... other needs weren't met that often. Tired from the day he would lay down in bed and even after showers, smell the chocolate on his hands, clothes and bedding. It was driving him mad. He loved chocolate, he appreciated the floral, citrusy and tangy hints the variety of chocolates provided.
He wished that the love he had for chocolate would one day be translated into a love for a person. Many clients would rotate in and out of the shop but he never had the (dis)pleasure of taking on a challenge which was customer service.
Since Angelique turned out to be a chocolatier far more experienced than Antoine or Ludo one of them would be appointed the cashier role, rotating every week. This week it was Antoine's turn.
"Oh this is lovely!" Said someone whilst Antoine was chatting with Magda in the back. "Give me a minute." He said putting on his hat. "How can I help you toda-" He stood there, unable to move as if struck by lightning. Quickly he regained his composure and went into his usual spiel about the different kinds of chocolate available in the store.
"If you're a fan of mint you'll love this one." He said breaking off a piece of the bar. You ate it. "Ooh, this one is great, I'll take this one, definitely." You looked at him curiously. "Can I get another piece?" He nodded and broke off one more. You took it in your hand and boldly told him to... open his mouth.
His face got beet red at the request but he obeyed. "That's... that's lovely..." You weren't sure which part of the interaction he was talking about but, you had your suspicions.
"And do you have a loyalty card?" He asked, begging whatever was listening for the answer to be negative. "No but I'd love to get one!" You said cheerfully, bearing a huge smile on your face, no doubt from the about to be purchased chocolate. It melted Antoine's heart just like chocolate left for too long in the sun.
"Great! Can get your number?" You giggled. "Sure but you'll have to take me out to dinner later." He steadied his breathing and answered. "I wouldn't mind doing that..." Your face got a little hot and you gave him your number. He explained the perks that came with the card and you thanked him.
"It was lovely to meet you ange..." He said, emboldened by your reciprocation. "Call me." You gestured with a smile. Maybe his lonely chocolate days were truly over?

A broken heart? "Does it mean his beloved perished during the siege? Was she fatally wounded? Is Regis with him?" verily, it was easy to call her unfeeling and distant, yet she understood that particular pain. Especially, if it was not an end caused by nature, but a brutal, senseless one. Oh, Orianna wished bitterly, that that night of all nights she was a shallow, simple monster the witcher painted her to be. As for Dettlaff - he was a true culprit of her loss, not the maddened garkain they had just buried, along with six, small bodies.
She should have gone for garkain's head herself, to quench the blinding, bright anger - at her old friend, at her little ruva, at the foolish witcher at her side. "The garkain killed the children that were mine. For such an offence I was in the right to ask for his life. Even a human law would give me such satisfaction. So would have I claimed the head of that bastard, who abandoned those he was..." fighting the urge to massage her eyelids, the sun-eyed lowered her arms in front of herself, a gesture graceful and regal. "...but I smell his blood and that of his wife upon your clothes, witcher. Justice is triumphant and properly served." There was no reason for her to seek an approval of the famed white wolf, he was clearly much less endowed with an open, quick mind then Regis painted him to be. Yet their sharp and sour conversation provided her with another thing she was in need of, besides clarity. Stalling for time. Like a beggar. She did not want to return inside the ravaged house, she did not want to uphold justice, which she praised so highly in her stately speech. She must cease to be sentimental and weak. Law was law, it was one of the earliest, crucial ones and her children followed it, and were protected by it. "We clearly perceive a heart differently. I judge its presence by actions, not by hollow words," a hairpin into his side. How dared he to condemn her? How dared he to speak as if it was his right to decide Dettlaff's punishment? He himself was ignorant of laws and customs of the land. Deprived even of a collected, impartial, cold state of mind!
"I see, you must be worried about your payment. Follow me inside, and you shall get your coin for digging the graves, master witcher. As well as the fulfillment of my promise to you," politeness laced with poison. If not by the claws and fangs, let her ravenous wrath be sated by another, haughty kind of cruelty.
"But be quite. Antoine had just fallen asleep, and a good rest is essential for his recovery," another slip. Clearly, she was exhausted, in spite of her best efforts. Although, there was no reason why she should guard the names of her children from a stranger, who would not see the rising sun again. The white wolf was merely sniffing for a bigger pouch of gold, certainly promised to him by the Duchess. There was the true reason behind his offended virtious, kind heart. Was it the reason why Regis send his so called "friend" to a certain death?
