you know what else fucks me up about the US election? one of the things that has left me reeling in bewilderment and grief this month?
I'm a scientist, y'all.
That means that I am, like most American research scientists, a federal contractor. (Possibly employee. It's confusing, and it fucks with my taxes being a postdoctoral researcher.) I get paid because someone, in the long run ideally me, makes a really, really detailed pitch to one of several federal grant agencies that the nation would really be missing out if I couldn't follow up on these thoughts and find concrete evidence about whether or not I'm right.
Currently, my personal salary is dependent on a whole department of scientists convincing one of the largest and most powerful granting agencies that they have a program that is really good at training scientists that can think deeply about the priorities of the agency. Those priorities are defined by the guy who runs the agency, and he gets to hire whatever qualified people he wants. That guy? The Presidential Administration picks that one. That's how federal agencies get staffed: the President's administration nominates them.
All of the heads of these agencies are personally nominated by the president and their administration. They are people of enormous power whose job is to administer million-dollar grants to the scientists competing urgently for limited funds. A million dollars often doesn't go farther than a couple of years when it's intended to pay for absolutely everything to do with a particular pitch, including salaries of your trainees, all materials, travel expenses, promoting the work among other researchers, all of itâso most smart American researchers are working fervently on grants all the time.
The next director of the NIH will be a Trump appointee, if he notices and thinks to appoint one. NSF, too; that's the group that funds your ecology and your astroscience and your experimental mathematics and physics and chemistry, the stuff that doesn't have industry funding and industry priorities. USDA. DOE, that's who does a lot of the climate change mitigation and renewable energy source research, they'll just be lucky if they can do anything again because Trump nigh gutted them last time.
Right now, I am working on the very tail end of a grant's funding and I am scurrying to make sure I stay employed. So I'm thinking very closely about federal agency priorities, okay? And I'm thinking that the funding climate for science is going to get a lot fucking leaner. I'm seeing what the American people think of scientists, and about whether my job is worth doing. It's been a lean twelve years in this gig, okay? Every time the federal government gets fucked up, that impacts my job, it means that I have to hustle even harder to get grants in that let me support myselfâand, if I have any trainees, their budding careers as well!âto patch over the lean times as much as we can.
So I've been reeling this week thinking about how funding agency priorities are going to change. I work on sex differences in motivation, so let me tell you, the politics reading this one for my next pitch are going to be fun. I'm working on a submission for an explicitly DEI-oriented five year grant with a cycle ending in February, so that's going to be an exercise in hoping that the agency employees at the middle levels (the ones that know how to get things done which can't be replaced immediately with yes men) can buffer the decisions of those big bosses long enough to let that program continue to exist a little while longer.
Ah, Christ, he promised Health & Human Services (which houses the NIH) to RFK, didn't he? We'll see how that pans out.
I keep seeing people calling for more governmental shutdowns on the left now, and it makes me want to scream. The government being gridlocked means the funding that researchers like me need doesn't come, okay? When the DOE can't say fucking "climate change," when the USDA hemorrhages its workers when the agency is dragged halfway across the country, when I watch a major Texan House rep stake his career on trying to destroy the NSF, I think: this is what you people think of us. I think: how little scientists are valued as public workers. Why am I working this hard again?
This is why I described voting as harm reduction. Even if two candidates are "the same" on one thing you care about, they probably aren't the same level of bad on everything. Your task is to figure out the best person to do the job. It's not about a fucking tribalist horse race. A vote is your opinion on a job interview, you fucks. We have to work with this person.
Anyway, I'm probably going to go back to shaking quietly in despair for a little longer and then pick myself up and hit the grind again. If I'm fast, I might still get the grant in this miserable climate if I run, and I might get to actually keep on what I'm trying to do, which is bring research on sex differences, neurodivergence and energy balance as informed by non-binary gender perspectives and disability theory to neuroscience.
Fuck.
#us politics#science#biology#career#probably my last word on the subject for some time#but fuck yall when the government goes down i don't get paid and i have to go do something different#which generally is beholden to the interests of some rich private fucker#I'm just so fucking tired of feeling like i can relax and getting slammed in the face

can you pleasee do dad!Sirius x AFAB reader with a young child please I'm craving it. Maybe the kid got a cold and everyone's worried idk but I would love to see how Sirius would spoil her or take care of her
poor dramatic sirius hahaha. thanks for your request!
dad!Sirius Black x mum!reader whose child is sick [534 words]
CW: kid fic, fluff, the reader is actually gender neutral (no gender specified) but is the other parent of the child and I wrote it with a fem!reader in mind
âThat snot-nosed little mouth breather isnât allowed over anymore.â Sirius muttered into the crown of Aurora's head from his place on the couch; your daughter laid stretched across his torso with her cheek smooshed against his chest as she breathed audibly through her mouth on account of her stuffed up nose. She was a pitiful sight, though she seemed wholly safe and content in her fatherâs arms. Â
Now, you were quite sure you heard what Sirius had said, but you had to ask again just to be certain; or just in case he wanted to amend his statement.Â
âWhat?âÂ
âI said,â Sirius started, looking at you pointedly over the childâs head to ensure you were listening; you had to admit, Sirius was very good at making his points with his entire chest, âthat snot-nosed little mouth breather isnât allowed over anymore.â
âSirius,â you chided, though you were sure your smile was audible in your voice, âare you talking about your godson?âÂ
âUhm, is my godson a snot-nosed little mouth breather?â He asked in faux derision, face crumpling in misery when Aurora let out a rattling cough in her sleep. âMy poor sweet girl; look what heâs done to her!âÂ
âI hardly think he did this on purpose, Sirius.â You scolded around a smile. âWe have no idea if he even had the sniffles before he came over.â
âOh, Iâm sure he definitely did have the sniffles before he came over.â Sirius countered bitterly; hand rubbing soothingly up and down Auroraâs back as she drooled on his chest to which he was either ignorant or wholly unbothered. âThen James went and sent him over anyway. Probably payback.â
âPayback?â
âI just never thought heâd stoop so low as to biological warfare,â he continued as if you hadnât said anything at all, âand my child?! No, itâs not right at all. Who do we call about this, hm? The Scotland Yard? Or do we take this right to the UN for war crimes?â
âSirius-â
âSheâs too sweet to be so poorly.â He murmured quietly then, bottom lip jutting out comically as he looked at you beseechingly.Â
âBaby.â You sighed, finally standing up from the chair to kneel beside Sirius and Auroraâs forms on the sofa. Of course, your arrival came at the price of two kisses for Sirius, both of which you paid eagerly. âKids get sick, my love. And when she ends up in school, sheâll be coming home sick every other week.â
âThatâs disgusting.â Sirius pouted.Â
âI know.â You agreed quickly. âBut being exposed to some illnesses also helps build up their immune systems. Maybe now sheâll stand a better chance against all the other snot-nosed little mouth breathers sheâll meet at nursery school.âÂ
Sirius let out a long suffering sigh, though his eyes remained glued to your face and his hands continued their broad strokes along Auroraâs pyjama clad back. âSo I shouldnât call the UN?â
âNo.â
âNot yet.â Sirius compromised, looking into the room unseeingly. âBut I will have to get James back for this. Maybe weâll send Harry home jacked up on sugar and treats? Oh! Weâll get him a puppy. No! Four puppies!âÂ
You hid your smile (and the roll of your eyes) behind pressing a kiss to your daughterâs overly hot forehead.

There is an AITA out there that I can't find but it's been haunting me for weeks with visions of semi-angsty Steddie that I need to release onto the world. (If anyone happens to know what I'm talking about hit me up and I'll link it) ------
Modern AU, Eddie and the guys are a moderately successful local band in the Chicago area playing gigs on the weekends and doing small tours whenever they all have the time. Gareth and Jeff are both in college while Eddie and Freak are both working part-time at a game store. Eddie managed to lock down that assistant manager position that lets him work 30 hours a week with weekends off for gigs. All in all, it's a pretty sweet deal and they can't complain.
Eddie had sworn off dating after a small handful of disastrous relationship attempts in their first year in the city. He dismisses any advances from people who attend their shows and tries not to think about how much he wants to make a genuine connection with someone and have something real. He's been burned one too many times to try and make something with someone he met in a bar or at work.
He knows the guys talk about it behind his back sometimes, he catches Jeff and Gareth fervently whispering to each other and stopping when they catch him entering the room one time too many to not suspect they're talking about him and he can't think of anything else going on in his life that they would feel the need to whisper about.
The fervent conversations take a slight uptick one day and about a week and a half after they do, Gareth hits him up and tells him he wants to set Eddie up with a guy from one of his classes. At first, Eddie is skeptical and cites all the reasons why he doesn't want to try with anyone right now but eventually, Jeff jumps in to plea the case and Freak jumps in on top of that and under the combined weight of his best friends he agrees to meet up with this Steve guy.
The guys set up the whole thing and before Eddie knows it it's Saturday night and he's wearing his best black jeans and a gray button-down, untucked, to go on an honest to God blind date like his life is some low-budget romcom.
Steve is not at all what Eddie thought he would be. Not the kind of guy he thought his friends would pick out for him given they know he usually goes for other alternatives like himself. Steve, who is shyly waving him over and getting out of his seat to great him, is the very epitome of prep. Well-fitted polo, light blue chinos, and what Eddie assumes this guy thinks are casual loafers. He's handsome to be sure, a 12/10 at least with perfect hair and defined biceps but Eddie is fairly sure he's being punked.
But, Eddie doesn't want to be rude so he goes to meet Steve at the table, confirming just in case that he's actually here to meet with a guy named Eddie. Steve gives him a bit of a confused look, saying that Gareth showed him a couple pictures of Eddie before he agreed to meet and figured he'd done the same for Eddie off Steve's Instagram. Gareth had, in fact, not done anything of the sort but they both dismiss it and get on with their date.
In all honesty, Eddie is expecting it to be a complete wash, but it turns out that even if Steve is not at all what Eddie would have previously said what his type, Steve is damn near perfect. He's funny, kind, a little bitchy, and even though he proves himself to be every bit the sports nerd he looks like he doesn't turn his nose up at Eddie's own much more classically nerdy interests. By the end of the date, Eddie has a new type and that type is Steve Harrington. He's quick to lock down a second date for the next weekend which Steve happily agrees to. They exchange numbers and Steve gives Eddie a chaste kiss on the cheek that has him floating all the way home.
Steve texted him that next morning letting him now he had a great time and is really looking forward to their next date and Eddie thinks this might be the start of something big for him. When he gets to practice he's clearly still floating on cloud nine and in his own little world designing their marriage invitations and matching tombstones so he doesn't notice the sly grins on his bandmates' faces.
"So...how'd it go last night? Everything you dreamed it would be?" Gareth asks, a strange glint in his eyes that Eddie doesn't clock.
Eddie goes on and on about how nice Steve was and how he might be The One, thanking Gareth profusely. Freak looks pleased for him, giving him a hard pat on the shoulder in congratulations but when Eddie finally tunes back into the real world he's greeted by Gareth's livid expression and Jeff's overly concerned one.
He asks the guys what the fuck is up and it turns out that Gareth and Jeff set this whole thing up as a prank of sorts. Eddie was never supposed to hit it off with Steve who Gareth selected specifically because he's a "totally brain-dead prep" and as far away as someone could get from Eddie's previous relationships. He was supposed to be someone Eddie could go on a date with and not form a connection with without getting completely burned at the end like all his previous relationships in the hopes of getting him out of his slump.
Jeff was in on it as well. He wanted to get Eddie back out there, so when Gareth presented the plan he sat in on a couple of Gareth's general credit business class sessions to help pick the guy out.
After Jeff and Gareth finish explaining he does a complete 180 and just...leaves. In any other situation, he would be raging and verbally tearing his friends a new asshole but instead, he completely disengages and walks out the garage door, ignoring his friends' shouts to come back.
He goes back home, socked and hurt and so very confused about how the hell he found himself in this position when his phone lights up.
New Message: Steve H.
Fuck.

Part two coming soon??? Maybe???? We'll see.

Forgive me if I'm mistaking you for another person, but I remember you speaking at multiple points on the unsustainability of free social media services (I think especially in response to the cohost collapse?), and I'm curious on what your thoughts on bluesky are so far. I'm not an expert on the subject, but from what I've read previously it seemed like they were on track to be financially sustainable, but I don't know if the recent floods of users has thrown those projections off. Sorry if I'm mixing you up with someone else on my timeline, in that case just ignore me.
bluesky will almost certainly follow the same trajectory of monetisation => bloat => enshittification => decline as every other major platform built on venture capital and user hoarding. it's a terrible model that only works in the short term as a mirage for attracting funding and making founders look good for a year or two before they sell.
you can see the same effect in the decline of all the subscription box services that came into vogue just before covid: they feel great to use for as long as the initial injection of venture funding lasts, because the purpose of that funding at that stage is to attract users and impress the next round of funders with how pleasant/intuitive/efficient/ethical/good value the service is. that's the stage where they're handing out freebies and bowling over influencers, and every ingredient in the box is fresh and high quality and locally sourced. wow what a good deal, what a great system!!! why hasn't anyone done this before? the answer is because it's unsustainable by design. they rack up good reviews, sign on a billion new users, attract new funding from a bunch of much more credulous investors, and then gut all of the expensive parts. portions get smaller, ingredients get worse, packaging gets flimsier, prices go up, freebies turn into "5% off your first 9 boxes when you invite 3 friends", and customer service vanishes.
with social media (and platforms like discord) the logic is the same, it's just a little less glaringly obvious to the end user because they're not coming home to leaking packages of rancid chicken on the doorstep. bluesky has an advantage over tiny operations like cohost because it was founded by a billionaire making a point for the sake of his own image. it got a really significant chunk of startup funding, and the owner had existing connections and rep in the space to attract more. That's why it has survived the goldrush period, why it still feels good to use, and why users who have been burned so many times before are finally accepting it as a stable, reliable option. It's still in its venture capital honeymoon phase where the only thing worth spending money on is making the service attractive to users.
What I expect we will see next, with another mass influx of users from twitter and new funding from a rogue's gallery of tech venture sickos led by Blockchain Capital is a strong ramp up into monetising that userbase. They've already been pretty forthright about how they plan to do this, and I think it's a solid roadmap of how Bluesky will bloat and decay over the next few years:
this is a huge lol. don't worry, we're not going to hyperfinancialize the social experience through NFTs. the thing even crypto freaks started feigning amnesia about a year ago. real "our health conscious sodas are 100% arsenic free" messaging here. They know perfectly well that rubes users are suspicious of their typical 5 dimensional tech finance chess games and are patting our hands about last week's bogeymen so nobody worries too hard about whatever 'decentralised developer ecosystem' just happens to be helmed by a bunch of crypto guys. this definitely means something good and based and not a google-like single sign on user data harvesting operation.
This is the same shit that's currently rotting the floorboards of discord. Bluntly, there is no way to run a platform on this scale without gating functionality behind paid services. Discord has been squeezing free-tier file uploads and call quality etc. down steadily and cranking up subscription costs over the last year or two, throwing in chaff like animated avatar frames to try and justify the user cost. They're also doing the same misdirection thing again here, pointing to Thing We All Hate to deflect from thing we might not like very much when they do it. Booo elon booo we all hate elon!!! wait how do we feel about subscription models again,
watch out for this to kill porn on bsky like it has killed porn on every other social platform đ boooo we hate elon boooo stupid idiot and his 'everything app' booooo wait why do you need my tax information, what's that about mastercard,
Look, we are all aware social media is a money pit. Let's not forget dorsey was looking to sell twitter in the first place, long before elon's very public plunge into total online derangement. Subscription services are not going to plug the hole, so we are gradually going to see more and more spaghetti thrown at the wall while early funders shuffle cards and do their pyramid scheme bit bringing in stupider and stupider investments. this is the window in which bluesky will be temporarily worth using for us, for the idiot public, the poorly rendered crowd jpegs in the background of their venture capital MOBA. it's in their interests to slow and pad the decline as much as possible, because that is how they get maximally paid.
Given the scale of the money involved, and dorsey's weird ego investment, I think bluesky will probably manage a controlled drift for a good few years before it gets really bloated and painful. and by then we will all be so used to the *checks notes* decentralised developer ecosystem that we'll just be posting through it, watching another generation of columnists call another collapsing platform 'their beloved hellsite' and passing around that meme about not getting out of our chairs no sir until idk we all get on a fediverse neurolink alternative to stick it to the elongated muskrat and our brains pop peacefully in our sleep. which I guess is the closest thing to viability any social media platform can achieve.
anyway diogenes the cynic is also on bluesky

I once worked with a guy who was old and by old I mean the old guys who were close to retiring called the old guy old. He was a boomer and had to have been in his 70s at the time, the years had shrunk his height, he was scrawny down to the bone, and had an unfathomably slow and rigid gate. I was always worried he'd tip over while on my watch. Any time this guy was on shift I knew not to expect much to get done. One day I sat with him on break and asked why he was still working when he could retire at any time. He had enough years in to get a pension (remember when people got pensions?), and he told me his remarkably short story. 50 years I've worked for Henry Ford. Six, seven days a week. Overtime most days, 12 hour shifts. I was a good worker too, I never took my vacation time. My wife didn't see me much so she ended up leaving, and my boys are all grown now. I gave a whole life to Henry Ford, what's a little more. I can't for the life of me remember his name. Maybe Henry Ford will. omg I just realized I worked with this guy like 10 years ago and he's totally dead now ..

âWhereâs your guard dog?â The boy youâve been trying to ignore since practice started says. He skids to a halt at your side, his skates spraying shards of ice across the worn ice. Itâs due for a Zamboni soon, and glancing at the bright red numbers ticking the time away, you have twenty more minutes of skating until youâre done for the day.
It works perfectly for your schedule because you havenât been able to focus since Azriel left you with a somber look after sneaking into the womenâs locker room before his weekend away with his hockey team.
You donât know what had gone wrong. Everything seemed fine when he pulled you into his body and you could feel the press of his thick cock in his pants against your stomach. Heâd been more than excited to see you, and youâve never felt more important than in his arms right then. Because heâd snuck into the womenâs locker room to say goodbye. He could have easily left you with a text, or nothing at allâyou knew his schedule like the back of your hand by nowâbut he felt inclined enough to break the rules to see you one more time before he left.
You get the saying now, because if he really wanted to, he would.
What you canât grasp is the sudden change in Azrielâs mood. Heâd gone stiff against you like the flip of a switch, and it wasnât the good kind of stiff that reflected in his jeans. It was the kind of stiffness that you clocked immediately, fed on. When his body locked up, yours did too. When he refused to meet your gaze as he said a soft farewell, you didnât have the heart to watch his off-putting demeanor.
It's been days since youâve seen him. An entire week, almost. Youâve seen Cassian and Rhysand in passing, but they havenât offered anything about Azriel and you hadnât asked.
Youâre not going to be that girl, even if the prolonged no-contact with someone you thought you could fall for is driving you up the wall.
âPractice,â you bite at the boy staring down at you. You wince at your tone. You answered much too quickly and with much to emotion for anyone to believe you, and you see it in the way Erisâ amber eyes soften a touch.
You donât want his pity. You donât need it. All you want right now is to get off this damned iceâbecause of course it reminds you of Azriel, nearly everything doesâand head back to your dorm to ice your throbbing knee.
Youâve known Eris since you transferred to Velaris University. Heâs a challenge at the best of times and a menace at the worst, but heâs arguably your first friend outside of your dormmates, and even then, youâre not entirely sure they actually like you or if they just tolerate you because you all live together.
Maybe you need to start being a little friendlier.
âWhat happened?â Eris asks softly, and your throat grows tight with emotion. Heâs the first person to ask, and for the first time since Azriel disappeared on you, you want to break down and let it all out. You want to spill every consuming thought youâve had while you were overanalyzing and you want someone to feed into your delusion as much as you want someone to talk you off the ledge of crazy.
But you canât do that, not in the middle of practice, because as soon as you open your mouth to spill, coach is shouting at you and Eris to run through your routine again.
You sigh in frustration, but it does nothing to ease the heaviness in your heart. After finally admitting that the injury youâre recovering from has been bothering you as of late, coach decided that working with a partner would help ease the stress on your knee while also keeping you working towards your goal.
You know youâve had the option to work with a partner, but youâve always been solo, and itâs difficult to allow yourself to put this much trust in someone else. The last time you put your trust in someone, he left you feeling like a wet towel abandoned on the shower stall floor.
Eris is well aware of your injury and how your recovery has been going, and heâs been more than happy to gently ease you into the routine. Heâs been gentle with you during tricks, and youâre more thankful than you let on. As you get into position to practice one more time before youâre dismissed, you remind yourself to thank him properly by taking him to dinner or a movie or something he enjoys.
Eris counts you off and then youâre gliding across the ice together. His hand is a warm weight against your hip but it feels all wrong. Itâs nothing like the hand you want there, the one thatâs a brand against your skin.
You startle when Erisâ hand finds your other hip, preparing for your first trick. You wobble on your skate and he rightens you with a frown that you brush off with a head shake, taking a breath and focusing on what you do best.
Two, three, four, jump! Eris lifts you with ease, hauling you above his head. You engage your core and pose for a beat, two, and then heâs lowering you back to the ice with a gentleness that you havenât experienced in pairs before.
This go-around, youâre mostly practicing lifts. Coach wants you and Eris to accomplish a triple twist lift, but youâre rusty working in pairs, and you need to work up to it. Plus, your knee screams in agony during your next trick, no matter how many times youâve done a spiral.
Gods, youâre pushing it.
But to be the best, you have to.
Youâre focused so intently on ignoring the pain flaring up your leg and the tricks youâve yet to master to notice the figure across the arena. Hockey practice just let out, and a quick glance to the clock on the wall would have told you that if youâd been keeping an eye on it. Of course, you know the hockey schedule by heart. At first it was because you and Azriel would try to align your practices to get out on time so that you could find a dark place to touch each other, but now itâs because you wanted to escape any chance of seeing the broody hockey player youâve decided youâre giving the cold shoulder to.
Azrielâs hazel eyes latch onto you and the hand he has wrapped around his hockey bag tightens until his knuckles turn white. He doesnt know the guy whose hands are all over you, doesnât like the way he grabs your hips to lift you, doesnât like how close his face is to yours, how his eyes glitter with amusement when you curse under your breath. He doesnât like the way your body looks molded to his when you jump or the way that you stare at each other at the end of your routine, both panting so hard that your chests nearly brush with every inhalation.
He definitely doesnât like the ire flooding his bones like magma, nor the prickling sensations of jealousy that threaten to overtake his body, march him onto the ice, and beat the shit out of the guy thatâs touching whatâs his.
And he most certainly doesnât like the way that you favor your uninjured leg as you make your way off of the ice.
Azriel canât help himself, heâs a fool. A fool for leaving you. A fool for not messaging you that he needed time to figure his own shit out, that things with you were becoming too real. A fool for every doubting whatever you had in the first place.
He fucking missed you. All weekend, all week. He shouldâve found you sooner, but with the loss against the Sparrows, coach has been making the team do double practice so theyâre prepared for their next game tomorrow night, and with his classwork and personal life stacking up, he hadnât prioritized you.
Heâs realizing now that he should have.
Azriel doesnât know what heâs doing until heâs halfway to where youâve come off the ice and are listening to your coach. Eris stands too closely to your side as you nod, and it takes you longer than he wants to admit to notice him.
He watches your pretty eyes go wide, drink him in from head-to-toeâwhich he secretly preens at because you still want him, even after heâs acted like a jackass all weekâand then narrow in a glare so harsh his steps falter.
Surely, he knows he fucked up, but he hadnât gauged just how angry youâd be.
Very, apparently.
Azrielâs still trying to muster up what to say when coach dismisses you. You turn to Eris instead of moving towards Azriel, and the black-haired boy bristles at that fact. He canât hear what youâre speaking about, but when Eris graces you with a charming smile and an agreement, Azriel knows he doesnât like that one fucking bit.
You snatch your towel from where itâs hanging over the edge of the bench and wrap it around your neck, following Eris towards the locker rooms. You have to work to keep your face neutral, but your knee is killing you. All you want to do is go home, prop it up and ice it, maybe even devour a pint of ice cream or two, but upon seeing Azriel waiting for you in the walkway off the ice, you hastily invited Eris to grab dinner with you instead.
You want nothing to do with Azriel at the moment.
Heâs still glaring at your friend when you try to pass by. Azriel grabs your arm but itâs gentle, and sends a zip of lightning up your spine.
âHands off, hockey douche,â Eris defends, but Azriel doesnât pay him a second glance, his intense eyes focused entirely on you.
âCan we talk?â
His voice is so soft, eyes pleading, that you want to cave immediately. Crawling right back into his arms sounds like bliss right now because you know Azriel well enough to know that heâs noticed how badly your knee is bothering you, and heâd be a great caretaker. But that means heâs also noticed how he left you, by the remorse in his eyes, and how upset you are with him.
âI canât,â you respond, sticking to your guns no matter how painful it is. Azrielâs hand is warm on your arm, and his touch alone is already battering through your weakened defenses. You lift your chin and reprimand yourself all in the same motion. âI have plans.â
âCancel them.â
âI donât think so,â Eris huffs, hovering by your side. Azrielâs face hardens and you manage to hide your wince when he turns his glare on your partner.
âThis conversation doesnât involve you, firedick.â
âAzriel,â you hiss, and he hates that youâre using his full name. He hates that you sound so upset. âApologize.â
He sets his jaw, staring down at you. You stare right back, arms crossed fully over your chest. Thereâs a bead of sweat brimming at your hairline that Azriel wants to brush away, and itâs a struggle not to haul you into his arms and drag you back to the hockey house with him to talk.
After a few terse seconds of silence, you scoff. Heâs not going to apologize to you, and he presumably liked you, thereâs no way in hell heâs going to apologize to Eris for calling him a crude name.
You manage to sidestep Azriel, though youâre sure you only get away with it because he lets you. Heâs a persistent man and usually gets what he wants, but not today.
If he wants anything to do with you, heâs going to work for it.
âIâm sorry,â Azriel says when youâve taken two steps away from him. You know it isnât directed at Eris, but at you. Your steps falter and your lip wobbles with emotion. You wonder if Azriel knows what heâs sorry for, or if heâs just saying it to appease you.
You glance at him over your shoulder, cursing your wet eyes for giving you away.
You say thickly, âYeah, me too,â and continue down the hall to the locker rooms.
Azriel watches you go.

"1-800-HANDY-YAN"
Yandere!Handymen (Tucker and Billy) x Fem!Reader
18+ Minors DNI
Warnings: Oral sex, yandere behavior, Dub-con, perverted thoughts, misogynistic comments (mostly tucker), class economic divide? Spying, obsession, stalking, double trouble yanderes, mention of female genitalia and breasts on reader
A/N: Yeah, maybe this is eight hundred weeks late, I got super motivated then super not. But trust me, this piece is đ
Metal tools clink together, the sound of screws and the occasional drip of left over water fills up the space beneath the sink as Tucker works on the clogged drain.
"Wrench." He sticks his hand out of the cabinet and extends his fingers while his mullet-haired friend whose sat just outside. Bill hands him the wrench, sighing as he cranes his head to see around the doorframe and into the living room of this nice suburban home.
"Alright, gimme the bolt." The skinny wife-beater clad handyman asks his broad set and chubby friend. After a few moments, he calls again. "Bill, bolt. Cmon," He groans as he slides out from the sink cabinet and look at his distracted coworker. Smacking him upside the shoulder he shakes his head. "Get your fuckin' head outta the clouds, or I'll have your fatass get stuck up under this sink tugging on the hair and shit in here." He grumbles. "What the hell are you even-" He leans forward against the tile to see forward at what's captured Bill's attention, and then sighs.
"Stop looking at the homeowner if you ain't gonna do anything, Billy. You've got a limp dick crush on her, why won't you do anything about it, huh?" He nudges his friend. "She's always calling us for little home repairs, and she never has anyone over. I mean, her beds always made too." He whistles lowly as he sees you watching the TV in the living room, eyes raking over your tits and ass as he bites his lip back a bit.
"What does her bed have anything to do with whether or not she's got a fella?" Bill asks weakly, and Tucker rolls his eyes.
"Please, no one is ever here, and her bed isn't made. She's not exactly getting rolled around and pounded in it, is she? Shit, I dont even remake my bed after I jerk it."
Bill shushes him and shoots a panicked look back towards you. "She could hear you, just... don't talk about her like that. She's trusting us to be good to her house and to, uh, to her."
"Well-" As Tucker finishes up with the drain and reattaches the pipe, flipping the sink water back on and letting it run for a minute, he pulls out of the counter. "Why don't we let her know the jobs done, yeah?"
Walking into the living room, Bill has always tended to be quiet around you. You'd seen the scruffy men around the suburb you live in before, they appeared to be everything men. They work on plumbing, fix lights and wiring, mow lawns, and they got good reviews from your neighbors. It's obvious they don't really fit in in the neighborhood. The men are scruffy, usually in dirty clothes with unkempt beards and a beaten up old van. They're from the poor end of town, a rather rough trailer park. They are treated as useful workers, but poor company by your wealthy neighbors. Still, they've been nothing but nice to you, sweet even.
"Hey guys, is the sink fixed up?" You ask, perking up from your spot on the couch and casting aside the tv remote.
"Sure thing, jobs all done." Tucker sniffs, rubbing at his chin and putting a hand on his hip. "We figured it was a super quick job, so Bill suggested we give you half off since it didn't take the full hour." He nudges his friend, who seems shocked at his attempt to get you to speak to him.
"Y-yeah." He mumbles out, swallowing harshly. "Didn't want to charge you for anything extra." He explains quietly.
"Thank you guys, that's so sweet, but you dont have to do that." You sigh and out your hand on your hip. "Well, let me go grab the money I owe you." While you get up, Tucker makes himself cozy on the couch, spreading out like hes always lived here.
"So, missy. We've helped you out quite a bit, fixed things here and there, haven't seen a fella around." He says. "Surely you'd have an easier time fixing this stuff with a more permanent solution."
"Knock it off-" Bill spits under his breath, but his friend just smile mischeviously and sinks deeper into the fabric.
"Yeah, I just haven't met a guy I'm interested in." You explain, talking over your shoulder as you get the money from your bag. "Or any guys whove been interested in me."
"That can't be true-" Bill starts, his sudden outburst makes the attention in the room focused on him. "I just mean, you seem like a real nice lady, sweet." He explains, hands fiddling with the edge of his flannel top.
"That's really sweet, thank you, Bill." You tilt your head with a soft smile and he just nods in acknowledgement, blushing a bit. "What about you guys? You two have anyone special?"
Tucker clicks his tongue and shakes his head. "Hell naw, it's a bachelor pad in our trailer. I mean, we bring girls back sometimes, but you know-" he shrugs. "Bill's kinda hopeless with the ladies, and I'm never satisfied." He winks.
Sitting up, he puts his hands on his knees. "You know, you're a real nice gal, I mean, most people won't even look at us while we work, to busy keeping an eye on stuff and making sure we don't steal. So nice in fact, my friend here's got kind of a crush on ya."
Your eyes widen as your head quickly swivels to the now sheet-white Bill, his hands out in front of him as if to show he means no harm. "N-nah, it's not like, not like that!" He exclaims, looking mortified. "Please, Tucker's talking outta his ass, don't listen to him. Really, I have nothing but professional feelings for you." He says. Hes removed his hat from his head and holds it to his chest, both as a nervous movement and a stress fidget.
"He's lying. Everytime we come here to work, I practically bruise his arm trying to get his attention. He just sits and gawks. I'm being a good friend, telling him to man up."
You set aside your wallet as you slowly approach him, every step feels heavy as you walk up to the broad-shouldered gentle giant. "Is that true, Bill?" You ask. "Do you... are you really interested in me?"
He sighs deeply, refusing to meet your gaze. "I do. I'm sorry, I tried to keep things professional, and respect your boundaries." He begins to ramble as you smile a bit. "I mean, I-I support women and their safety, I know you put a Lotta trust in lettin' us into your home. I'm a feminine!"
"Feminist, stupid." Tucker snickers, and you shoot a warning glance at him. He puts his hands up.
"Its alright, Bill. You've been nothing but sweet and respectful to me, and you guys always come when I call." Crossing your arms, you rub just above your elbow. "Its been hard adjusting to the neighbordhood, people are kinda stuck up or unkind, but you're both so real. And sweet, and-"
"Extremely sexy, right?" Tucker coos, slinging a boney arm around your shoulder. Bill seems shocked at his friend sudden physical contact with you, a boundary he's never dared cross. "She's offering you a compliment, Bill. Come on, return it. Tell her all the nice things we've said about her, like how she's got a great rack." His scratch stubble rubs your cheek a bit from where he's stood behind you. "You really do have a great pair."
"I never agreed with what he was saying, I would never, um- talk about a girl like that, my momma would be so upset with me. Tucker was the one sayin' all that dirty stuff about you." Bill explains. "I would just say you looked prettier than a peach' and he'd make it all gross."
"So..." You grin a bit as your eyes slowly trail over his body and up to meet his gaze. He's trying hard to avoid yours. "You don't like the way my tits look?"
A wild, toothy grin flashes across Tucker's face, he knows where this is heading, and his friends reaction is even more amusing.
"No, I- I do. They look, they look great. Round..."
"Round? What the fuck is wrong with you, that's how you describe her girls?" Tucker shakes his head and turns back to you, his mouth close to your ear so he could whisper in. "Tell you what, before Billy-boy says something that dries out your puss, why don't we take this up to your room? I have the advantage of knowing the way." He ever so slightly grind the front of his jeans to your ass, the growing erection obvious. "Cmon baby, we're handymen, let me clean those pipes."
You immediately cackle and lean forward, gripping your stomach. Tucker looks confused and offended as he puts a hand on his hip. "Sorry!" You exclaim, still laughing. "Sorry, that was just such a stupid line, I'm sorry."
"It wasn't stupid, it was sexy." Tucker scoffs. "Really fucking sexy, you know how many panties get dropped at bars because of 'stupid' lines like that. Don't dance around it, if you don't wanna bone just tell me." You perk up at that, seeing a rare moment of insecurity in Tucker's face. Face flushed, he seems embarrassed, actually wounded. Bill moves to stand a little closer to him, trying to put a hand on his shoulder before it's swatted away with a quiet 'fuck you, don't touch me'.
"No, I... I do. I do, you're both attractive and I haven't had anyone in a long time. You've always been good to me, but I-" You sigh. "I dont know if I can be what you want? I'm not exactly a freak in bed, and I've never been with two guys before." You begin.
Excitement reunited, but still softened by that moment of vulnerability, Bill speaks up for once. "You're perfect." He says, steadying himself. "Really, you don't have to be experienced or nothing, I'm a big clutz but trying your best is what matters. And we'd go as slow or as gentle as you wanted. And as for two guys-" He sighs and swallows harshly. "If you just wanna do it with Tuck, I'll wait he-"
"No, no, it's not that at all. I'm getting caught in my head, I want this." You hold out a hand brush over his flannel shirt buttons, fiddling with one. "I want you. Both of you, as appreciation for how hard you've worked." Looking over at Tucker, you smile. "You seem the most eager to get started, why don't you lead? I imagine you know what you're doing."
"Damn right I do, sexy mama." He gropes your waist as he plants a feverish kiss on your neck. "Glad you're finally giving some attention to lil' ol' me. Go upstairs and get all pretty, lay that pretty body out on your bed while me and Bill pack up and grab a couple rubbers from the truck."
You quickly summit the stairs, and make the most of your time by stripping down to a simple pair of underwear, you didn't figure they needed to be impressed with any lingerie, and you could see Tucker getting annoyed and ripping one of your nicer sets when it came to untying ribbons. Sitting on the bed now, you can see them through the window loading up their. They seem to be loudly arguing about something, and you can't help but laugh. Eventually, Bill comes up.
"Sorry, we forgot we had another job on the docket, I didn't wanna cancel but Tuck is being a real hard ass about all-" He stops when he sees you, in nothing but panties, sat on the bed with a slight smile. You're skin all soft and bare, pretty lights outside dimming as it grows closer from evening to night. "Geez, um, you look beautiful." He mumbles, closing the door behind him.
You tuck your knees under your chin and look at him. "Thanks, that's so sweet. So, you guys are gonna stick around, right?"
Snapping out of his, Bill clears his throat and nods. "Yeah, yeah, Tucker's on a call out there rescheduling." He taps his foot nervously.
"Well, get cozy. Cmon, take off your boots and hat, I'm sure you're tired from working." He obeys quickly, eager to please. He stops after removing his hat though, and you furrow your brows. "Its gonna be hard for us to have sex if the rest doesn't come off too, silly." You tease, but his slightly sad demeanor gives you pause. "Whats wrong?"
"I just, I don't really know if you'll like what you see. Most people think of handymen and folk as all muscular, and I've got some muscle, but I'm not really anyone bodybuilder by any means. And I'm not skinny like Tuck, I'm-" His head fully tilts to the floor. "I'm a big guy. I don't want that to bother you."
You immediately shake your head and move to the edge of the bed, holding out a hand. He shyly takes it in his own, and you run a comforting thumb over it. "Nothing is wrong with that, Bill. I think you look plenty handsome, you look soft, and sweet. And everyone has some pudge." You put his hand on your stomach. "See, I've got a bit of a tummy, and sometimes I don't like my legs, but do you think that makes me less attractive?" You ask.
"I don't think anything could make you not look pretty." He admits, moving his hand to your shoulder.
"I'll undress you, how about that?" He offers no resistance, so you slowly undo his flannel shirt, eyes trailing hungrily over his hair chest and slightly pudgy stomach. "Very handsome." You kiss his collarbone and he sighs. He works on getting his jeans and belt off, before sitting beside you on the bed.
"Can I touch ya? I mean, feel up on your chest and stuff?" He asks. When you nod, his large, callous hands come to rest over your breasts, extremely gentle in their movements. "They're gorgeous, really. And I meant what I said, as much as I love the way you look, and how kind you are, I never said no dirty things about you. It was all Tucker, he' a horn-dog."
"Some men are like that, unfortunately. Hes lucky I think it's flattering when it's him." You chuckle, making Billy laughs as well as he continues groping, a little more confident as he tweaks at a pebbled nipple.
"He's always been a jackass, but he's just trying to seem tough. He really likes you." Bill begins to explain. "Tucker isn't nearly as upfront with his feelins' as I am, but I can't tell he likes you. He don't always stick to making dirty jokes about one girl, but you've been all the talks about lately. And he always beats me to the phone for work now, he used to always make me answer, but I know he's hopin' you'll call." He's clearly packing, and the sight of his erection makes your mouth water in anticipation.
"Hey, Tell you what. Tucker might be a bit, and I'm sure he'll want to be inside me the moment he gets through the door-" Bill laughs at that. "So why don't we get you feeling good first so he can have a go." Sliding off the bed, you put a cheek on his knees, hand on his hairy inner thigh as he swallows.
"Geez, you can do that, b-but only if ya wanna. I lost the remote one day, and they had this talk show with all these ladies in-in suits, and they said that blowjobs were demeaning-"
Ignoring his continuous, (if not sweet), ramblings, you tug at his boxers until his thick, leaky cock springs loose. "Shit, nearly took my eye out." You say, trying to lighten the mood. He's thick, a bright red tip and a firm base. His balls are large, but he did admit he was backed up. He's absolutely huge, you have to admit you're worried he's a choking hazard.
"I'm gonna start slow, yeah? Just kiss the tip?" You ask, and the flushed redneck just nods his head, eyes wide as he's looking down at you. You place a soft kiss on the leaking tip, making him suck in a breath as you slowly take it into your mouth to the back of your tongue. What you can't fit in, you work with your hand.
"Shit, am I too big?!" He asks when he hears you making a sloppy gag, but you gently squeeze his thigh to calm him. You just want this poor big man to relax. Humming a bit, the lights vibration seems to soothe him. "Feels, god, your mouth feels really good, missy." His hands grip the pretty floral sheets of the bed which he had admired so many time when working on your house. "You're so pretty, um, with me in your mouth, but also- I mean, you're pretty all the time, ah~"
He can't decide what's actually getting him closer to climax, actually getting his cock sucked, or just seeing you on the floor in front of him, so lovingly tending to him. Each movement is deliberate, and to feel like you care so much to do this, and act which the educated women on the tv said was degrading, means you must really care. He threads a shakey hand in your scalp, but not to tug or push, but rather to gently pet at your scalp. He lets out a groan which ends high pitched, adjacent to a whimper.
"So pretty. You're so pretty, m' lucky. Lucky you wanna... lucky you are making me feel good, s-shit." You can feel his length twitching in your mouth. "I'm gonna finish, I know it's early, sorry, m' sorry, I gotta finish. Pull me out, can I-" he rambling. "Can I finish on your chest, or I can go finish off in the toilet, or-" You just give him one last good suck, and with a swirl of your tongue you can feel a thick, warm substance filling your mouth. "Shit! Why didn't you, I didn't mean to, uhh~ fuck..."
When you pull off, making a shoe of swallowing, you might as well have taken a puritan to a strip club. Bill looks as if it's the most scandalous thing he's ever seen. Petting his limp cock slightly with your palm, you lean your head on his knee. "Was that good for you?" You ask, and he nods.
He's clearly speechless, and can't bring himself to say much about how good he feels. "It was good." He mumbles out. Biting your lip, you sit by him on the bed, hoisting yourself up. Now, it's your turn to feel unsure.
"Are you sure? You don't seem confident about that." You mumble, hand rubbing your arm. "I haven't given one of those in a long, long time. I'm sorry if it wasn't good. Was it cause you couldn't cum on my chest, I-"
"No, no!" He exclaims. "No, it was perfect, I'm just tired. 'Tuckered' out." He jokes, then clears his throat. "That was dumb. But, that was amazing, really, m' just not good at fancy words n' stuff." Taking a deep breath, he rather boldly puts a hand on your cheek. "Can I kiss ya? I mean, least I could do. I wanna show you really how pretty and nice I think you are, and that feels more proper than getting down there and kissing you on your-" He trails off, flushing again. "Unless you'd like that, I'd do it. It's the least I could mmph-!"
You press your lips to his, and as soon as he stops tensing you feel a large, calloused hand cup your cheek, practically palming your head. He's so gentle, as if afraid to break you. When you eventually break for air, he almost chases your lips. "I-"
"What the fuck!" Tucker stands in the doorway, hands on his toolbelt and hat turned back. "I take one call and yer' already all limp dicked? Shit, Billy, horny little fucker."
"Leave him alone, Tucker." You tease, leaning on Bill's shoulder momentarily. "I offered it to him. Don't listen to him, you were great."
Billy just shyly smiles and kisses your head once more as Tucker dumps his toolbelt and wifebeater at the door. "You already got yer dick wet, Billy, so clear the fuck out. I'd let you watch, but you were a slippery snake and slipped her yer fucking snake when I was going first, so git." Tucker orders as he flops unceremoniously onto your bed and crawls up towards you. You blow a kiss to Billy as he smiles and shuts the door, hearing Tucker mumbling some stupid line about 'cleaning your pipes'.
A few minutes later though, he's ashamed. He knows he shouldn't be doing this, it's dirty. Wrong. But as he sits in your bathroom, wiring up a little camera identical to the ones now in your kitchen and closet, he can't help but remember what Tucker had told him, just before he went out to make that phone call.
"She's gonna let us fuck her, she's okay with us seeing everything in person! If anything, a cameras less invasive. Shit, just set em' up, yeah? We know this neighborhoods full of rich assholes, and her locks are shit. Think of it as keeping that hot little piece of suburbanite ass safe."

SUGAR TALKING, đđ ningning as ur gf with a twist.
pairing. ning yizhuo x f!r genre. fluff wc. 900+ notes. ningning ver of this fic as per request !! ( MASTERLIST. )
now playing â sweet by cigarettes after sex
AMIDST YOUR LONG SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY was a box shaded in blue highlighter on your calendar, marking "TIME TO CALL NINGNING."
to balance your guys' relationship and one-another's respective responsibilities and duties, the two of you arranged specific times each week to call each otherâto ensure that you two wouldn't miss each other too much while she was away.
and as much as ningning would tell you they were sufficient enough, both of you knew she was evidently lying. the chinese girl couldn't help but miss you, barely able to think of anything coherent without you popping up in her head.
plopping onto your bed, you're met with a black screen, the call between the two of you successfully connecting. confusion litters your face, as you stare at your reflection, waiting for ningning.
while it was still the afternoon for you, it was midnight for the chinese girl, and as much as you didn't wanna call so late for the girlâwho had promotions and concerts early in the morningâshe insisted, wanting to make it comfortable and easier for you.
"hello?" her voice barely audible, with the screen still pitch black.
"ning, i can't see you," you whisper against your phone, your voice hushed and quiet, afraid that the chinese girl could get caught.
ningning moves her phone closer to her face, the light from your end on the call illuminating her features. any time the chinese girl felt bored, tired, or upset, she always found refuge in you; you were her safety net, and vice-versa.
your eyes trace her features, barely able to fully see them, but nonetheless, you couldn't help but admire the girl's sheer beauty. heat curls at your cheeks at the way despite her features barely on-screen, she was still ultimately gorgeous.
"why's it dark? i thought you were rooming alone this time," you ask, confusion washing over your features.
"aeri's already asleep," the chinese girl whispers, cautious as she does so.
usually, the members were all in different rooms, so you raise an eyebrow at the way it suddenly changed.
"shit, sorryâwe can always call tomorrow," you blurt out, not wanting to bother ningning, as your finger hovers over the hang-up button.
"no- no, it's fine, baby," she interjects, her voice gentle and soft, making a small pout form on your face. your knees buckle a bit at the way her voice is reassuring, almost alluring, even. if she said anything in that same gentle tone, you were sure you would be compliant with whatever she said.
"i missed you anyway," she murmurs against her phone, her voice barely above a whisper. with her cheeks obviously flushed, you couldn't help but poke tease at her.
"'m just so amazing, aren't i, huh? makin' the ning yizhuo fold so easily," you tease, your quiet tone matching her volume, despite the chinese girl already wearing airpods anyway.
even through the phone, you could feel the way ningning scoffs, already picturing her face distorting in audaciousness. your eyes scrutinize her featuresâfrom the top of her head to her neckânoticing her tousled dark hair, to the eye-bags painting her face.
and by then, you couldn't help but find her to be a divinity, regardless of her disheveled appearance.
to ningning, it was merely a dystopian idea to her that, it felt like she couldn't breathe or think properly without being near your presence.
"yeah, maybe you are," the girl plays along to your jokes, making you turn your head away for a brief moment to hide your flushed cheeks.
adorned with a wide smile, you chuckle, a lovesick look in your eyes. "i must be in heaven then, aren't i? what have i done to deserve a girl like you?"
ningning shakes her head, a toothy grin playing on her face, as she drawls, "well, you're gorgeousâthat's for one." you can feel the girl's grin, especially with the way her voice was tender.
"are you trying to flirt with me, ning yizhuo?" you ask, exaggerating your shock, raising an eyebrow in suspicion.
"so what if i am?" she coaxes, a shit-eating smirk adorning her face. propping her phone up against the bed's headboard, ningning yawns, carding a hand through her hair.
you scoff, incredulous, "you looked just so fuckin' good for whiplash," you drawl out, sighing.
before she could tease you again, the chinese girl is interrupted by a yawn from herself. rubbing her eyes, a sigh drifts from her lips, making you remember the late hour for ningning.
"shit, i should be lettin' you get to sleep now, shouldn't i?" you mumble, earning you a frantic ningning shaking her head, as you pout at your girlfriend's persistence to not sleep. you roll your eyes, noticing the way the girl is struggling to even keep her eyes open.
"no- no, c'mon. 5 more minutesâtops," ningning whines desperately, "i'm more than awake; i'm so lively." though, her body betrays her words, as a yawn erupts from her breath at the end of her sentence.
you run your hand through your hair, as a series of giggles escape your breath. tilting your head in disproval, you scoff, "you have performances tomorrow, baby, c'monâjust listen to me."
she huffs, trying to compromise with you, "fine, but stay on call till i fall asleep. i promise i'll sleep."
you nod begrudgingly, before the two of you hold your pinkies toward your guys' screen, making a promise that she'd fall asleep while you stayed on call. the chinese girl falls asleep rather hastily, proving you right.
"sweet dreams, ning."
it's so sweet, knowing you love me
though we don't need to say it to each other, sweet

Do I still wish it was you?
Satoru Gojo x ReaderÂ
Masterlist (If you're into marvel)

12.7 k words
Content warning: ANGST, mentions of suicide, depression, violence, grief, past Toji x Reader, foul language, +18 SMUT, MINORS DO NOT INTERACT, rough sex, unprotected sex (wrap it yâall). fluff, Satoru is the sweet, jumping from a building but not a bad way, fighting, fReader
A/N: Ik this is out of my usual content but I can't get over the JJK men so, I hope you guy's like it. You're welcomed to send me an ask with any comments, questions, etc., you have on this. đ
Sweat covered your forehead as you fought to recover your breath, the smell of sex and humanity filled his bedroom along with the sound of heavy breathing. It took a couple of minutes for you to finally stand from the bed, making your way to the bathroom, not bothering to cover up.
You saw your reflection in the mirror. Naked, disheveled hair, flushed skin along with droplets of sweat, and a minor bruise on your collarbone, the result of a certain white haired sorcererâs lack of restraint. A small smile placed on your lips before you could stop it as you touched it, the skin still a little tender.
Your sight landed on the small tattoo you had on the left side of your chest, a small black lined heliotrope carefully placed on top of your heart. A prickling sensation invaded your eyes along with the painful sensation of guilt, what were you even doing here? How could you smile when he was gone?
The feelings didnât get a chance of nesting in you though, as firm hands wrapped around waist and lips caressed your neck. Your sight darted to the mirror, meeting the most breath taking blue eyes you had ever seen along with a smile.
âIf you donât get any clothes on, I might have to fuck you again.â
You smiled at him, desire igniting again as heâs hands caressed your skin.
âIs that supposed to be a threat?â
A cocky smirk showed up on his face, not that it was unusual to see it. Satoru Gojo was nothing but confident, sometimes overstepping to egocentric, but you would be damned if you didnât admit he had good reasons for it.
His lips brushed your ear, hot breath hitting your skin.
âItâs a promise that I very much intent to fulfill.â
Satoru Gojo was going to be the death of you.
Correction, Satoru Gojo was going to be the reason you would live.
You hadnât planned for this. You had a set plan: to become a sorceress, completing missions, breaking curses, and fighting battles, one after another. A non stop cycle of violence and war until your body gave out and if death came for you, it wouldnât bother you. You would receive it as a long awaited friend as nothing mattered to you anymore, never since the day he died.
He was supposed to meet you back at your apartment in Kyoto, he had promised you he would be there. You waited for hours, and hours turned into days and days turned into weeks.
The last thing you heard him was a couple of text messages that read:
Jobâs almost done. Maybe we should takeÂ
a vacation, go to Las Vegas and stay atÂ
one of those casino/hotels you were talking
about. 11:13 pm
Anyway, Iâll see you in two days. Iâve
missed you. 11:14 pm
He vanished without a trace after that.
You moved to Tokyo as you were tracing his last steps. You had talked to Kong, who could not give you any answers. Years of dead ends and unanswered questions finally led you to give up. That day, you drank yourself to sleep.
Everyone was sure he had left you behind, taken his payment for his last job, and left the country. You couldnât blame them, it was on brand for him to do something alike, but this wasnât the case. You knew he wouldnât do that to you, not when he promised he would see you.
There was also this strange feeling that had settled on your chest the day after his text. It had taken you by surprise as you were just having lunch and suddenly a sharp pain hit you in the chest and the sensation that something had gone wrong hit you. You had thought it was just stress of not seeing him, maybe a little of an overreaction from you, but as time passed, the emptiness in your chest never left.
He was dead.
After over a year of wandering aimlessly in Tokyo, a certain blue-eyed sorcerer found you. You felt his stare while you were getting your coffee, the burning sensation of a powerful presence followed you around the streets of the city. You pretended you were oblivious to it, changing your path every once in a while to double check you were being tailed.
Once the amount of people around you dissipated, you made your way to a bench in the park, sitting in it so calmly it almost seemed everything was normal for your follower. That was until you looked to the buildings on your left, your eyes connecting with a white-haired man with blackened Windsor glasses. For a second he looked surprised, as it was almost impossible that you couldâve sensed him, but a playful smiled replaced it as soon as it came.
It took him less that 60 seconds to come to approach, you crossed your legs once you felt a presence taking the remaining space in the bench you had sat on. Even when you didnât look at him, you could still feel that cocky smile on him.
âHow did you know I was following you?â He questioned, his arms spreading along the back of the bench as he made himself comfortable.
You took a sip of your coffee. âI could feel you.â You said, nonchalantly. Imitating him, you leaned back. âHow did you get here so fast?â
âI teleported.â He shrugged.
âHuh, interesting.â
âYou donât seem surprised at all.â He turned around to look at you.
âWhy would seeing a Jujutsu Sorcerer surprise me?â you asked, now facing him.
The air in your lungs almost disappeared as you found two blue eyes peaking over his glasses, it was almost as if they could see inside your soul. The shiny speckles that seemed to dance around his iris called you, entrancing you into looking at them longer.
Was that his power? Who was this man and why was he stalking you?
âSo you know about Jujutsu Society?â
âWhat does it matter to you?â You barked, your harsh tone only making him smile more. âWho the fuck are you, and why the fuck are you following me?â
He lifted his hands. âWoah there princess, I donât mean any harm, I promise.â He extended his right hand to you. âIâm Satoru Gojo. The strongest sorcerer in the world.â He winked as you shook his hand.
You rolled your eyes the pet name and his ego. âSure you are.â
At the moment you didnât believe him, thinking he was just an over confident asshole that was just pushing your buttons. Looking back, it made you chuckle at how wrong you were.
He laughed, amused at your response. âYou really are something else, arenât you?â
âWhy donât you just tell me what do you want?â You huff, already exasperated by him.
Blue eyes locked on you as he leaned forward. âWhy donât you tell me about that special grade knife you keep in that purse?â
Your pulse picked up, the feeling of your heart smashing against your ribcage so hard you felt it would burst out. You couldnât let him take it, he gave it to you. Perhaps you were too obvious with your worries though, as his eyes traveled to the tight grip you had suddenly imposed on your bag.
âDonât worry, Iâm not taking it away.â He reassured you. âI was assigned to take it, but now youâve captured my attention. I have a hunch youâre much more interesting than that old piece of steel.â
You had found yourself entangled in the world of Jujutsu, at least more than you already were.
He had told you about the sorcerer world, the clans, the sorcerers, the customs, the curses, and everything that came along with that. You had known you had abilities to see things no one else seemed to notice, abilities to get rid of the monsters that crawled all over the world that you had perfected on your own, but you were never sure what to call them or what to call yourself.
Not until a black-haired man with green eyes and a purple worm surrounding him bumped you in the street. A man whose name you couldnât even mutter without breaking down.
Now you had joined the same world he despised and worked alongside the same people he hated. The sorcerer world had found your abilities useful, at least for the time being, and they had decided, with some pressure from Satoru, that you could be a good addition to their dwelling numbers.
You didnât like working for them; you didnât want to do it for a long time, but you had thought it was a good way to just let go and prepare yourself for death. A jujutsu sorcerer's life span was never long; sooner than later they would find their demise. Sure, you could just kill yourself; it would probably be way faster, but if there was an afterlife and you found him there, he would be disappointed in you. Besides, it reminded you of him; he had helped you be as strong as you currently were.
So you fought, day and night; you took whatever they had; there was no small or too big of a curse for you to take. Everything seemed fine for a while; you were content with how things were for a week, until Satoru decided to intervene.
An annoying little prickâthatâs what you usually describe him as. His interest in you hadnât dwindled even after you agreed to join him; it even seemed to have made things worse. He pestered you, following you around with a cocky attitude and bad jokes, forcing you to go with him to places just so he could buy desserts. He got in the way with your missions, babysitting you in as many as he could.
The thing that annoyed you the most was the fact that he was always looking at you, not in a weird, sexual kind of way that you couldâve handled, but he did it in a way that it felt he was trying to look into your soul. Even if you couldnât see his eyes behind the black pair of glasses, you could still feel the burn of his stare on your skin. It felt as if he wanted to know all your secrets, and for the same reason you tried to stay away from him, but the more you tried to do it, the more he seemed to put an effort into crushing it.
Satoru Gojo was the bane of your existence.
âI told you it was a good idea to get this peach daifuku for the way home.â He said, mouth full of food. Want one?â
âSure.â You muttered, snatching it out of his hand.
This was the third time in a week he had decided to come with you for a mission, your patience running thin the more time you spent with the white-haired sorcerer. You had done your job without any hiccups, and the worst part about it was that it seemed he wasnât even there to intervene if anything did happen, evidently by his relaxed stance along with his arms crossing his chest.
That could only mean that he was tasked with babysitting you or he had actively chosen to follow you everywhere, and you didnât know which one was worse.
âHey, Gojo...â you started, unsure on how to make your point. âYou donât have to babysit me, you know that, right? I think Iâve shown you Iâm capable enough of doing this.â
âThatâs not why Iâm here.â He answered, lazily stretching his arms along the subway seats.
âThen why are you here?â You questioned, slapping away the arm that was on your side.
âCause I like keeping you company.â
Cocky blue eyes met yours, except this time they werenât all cocky; they were sincere. They looked at you with precaution, gaging your reaction towards his words as if they were almost afraid to scare you away.
You didnât give an answer to his words, opting instead for eating your snack in silence. Maybe it was worse that he had been babysitting you; if that had been the case, you wouldnât have had a small smile on your face.
A knock on your door woke you from your impromptu nap; the banging was so loud it reverberated throughout the house. You looked at your watch and noticed that it was only 7 p.m., but that didn't make it any better; whoever it was, you wanted to kill them.
With angry footsteps you made your way to the door, not caring that it looked like you had just woken up.
"What?!" You yelled, flinging the door open.
Your sight was flooded with snacks and movies before revealing Satoru, his glasses slightly tilted down as he looked at your clothes.
"Nice outfit." He winked.
Suddenly you realized that the only thing you were wearing was a gray sweater, barely big enough to cover your thighs. You pulled the sweater down, warmth infiltrating your face.
"Why are you here?"
"Movie night." He said simply, pushing his way into your apartment.
Once he was in the living room, his eyes scanned his surroundings, which in turn made you a little too aware that your apartment was too empty, almost as if no one lived there.
"I don't remember inviting you." You pinched the bridge of your nose, sure a migraine was on its way.
"Hey, it's not like you have anything better to do."
After a few seconds of delivery, you grabbed the bag of instant popcorn to make it in your microwave, rolling your eyes at his smile.
Maybe it was because you were too tired to argue with him; having just woken up, your brain wasn't working so well. Maybe it was because you knew it would take less time to go along with his shenanigans than it would to argue with him.
Or maybe, just maybe, you felt lonely. Sure, Satoru wasn't your first choice, but he seemed to want to be there, even when you tried to keep away from him. There was something about his persistence that made you smile, almost like a puppy you couldn't keep away.
If you were honest, he wasn't that bad. In another life, you might have enjoyed his company, maybe even become friends, but you weren't interested in anyone else coming into your life, not with a hole in your chest with a name on it.
But just for one night, you decided to give in.
You sat down next to him and put the bowl of popcorn between you. "So what are we watching?"
"This." He handed you a DVD case with a foreign title on it, Italian, it seemed. âThe movie is great; there's a lot of action; the only bummer is the main guy dies.â
You slapped his arm.
"Thanks, dickhead. Way to spoil the movie."
âDonât be a cry baby; you couldâve guessed it within the first 10 minutes of the movie.â
You scoffed. "You don't know that."
"Sorry, my bad." He raised his hands. "You're acting like I said the main guy's love interest turns out to be working for the bad guys."
"Dude!"
He laughed, the echo of his voice resounding along the walls.
"I can't believe you fell for that."
"Just play the stupid movie."
You ended up watching two more movies that night before you both fell asleep. And in the warmth and comfort of your lonely apartment, it was the first time in a long time that you didn't think of green eyes and black hair before you closed your eyes.
"Ah, come on. You need to give me more details." Satoru complained, walking alongside you.
"I don't have to give you shit."
It had been a few months since that movie night and you had found yourself not completely rejecting Gojo's presence, and on good days, you would say you enjoyed it. You didn't argue as much when he joined you on missions, and you didn't fight him when he wanted you to go with him to get something to eat or to your apartment to watch a movie. It was... a routine of sorts, and you'd be lying if you said you didn't enjoy it at least a little.
"You can't just tell me you have a tattoo and not tell me what or where it is."
"And you'll never know."
He hurried his steps, standing in front of you, but walking backwards. He put his hands together and begged you to answer.
"Please, you must tell me, the secret could kill me. What would you do if the strongest sorcerer in the world died and it's all your fault?"
"I'd probably throw a party." You snorted.
Satoru, the drama queen he always was, put his hands over his heart, a playful 'ouch' escaping his lips.
"You hurt me, Princess. I thought you would be devastated if something happened to me." Gojo pouted, the sight making you chuckle slightly.
"Oh yes, absolutely. I would mourn you for at least ten years." You joked.
"Make it fifteen and I might consider forgiving you." He winked.
You made your way through the busy streets of Tokyo until you found yourselves standing in line for coffee, the cozy environment of the place giving you a sense of warmth.
"If I pay for your drink, will you tell me about your tattoo?" He whispered next to your ear.
The smell of his mouthwash hit your nostrils, the cool mint scent lingering in your mind for a few seconds.
"It's going to take a lot more than a bad cup of coffee for me to tell you this."
He rolled his eyes, arms outstretched in defeat as he wrapped one of them around your shoulders. You shook your shoulder, trying to get him off of you, but he didn't budge. You told yourself that just for once you would allow it.
"How about dinner sometime? Would that be enough for you to tell me?" He said casually.
You turned to him, one eyebrow raised in disbelief, thinking he was joking. Although the way he had said it made you think for a second that it was real and there was another intention behind his invitation. That thought only lasted a second as you found it impossible that he was talking about a date, so you played along.
Your eyes turned back forward as you shrugged. âDepends where you take me. Spend enough money on me and I might give you a hint."
"Oh, you're one of those girls?" He chuckled. "You only go out with someone who takes you to expensive places and showers you with gifts?"
"Well, Gojo... if you want to know all my deepest, darkest secrets, you might as well try a little harder."Â
Silence fell upon you, making you think the conversation was over, but a few minutes later he spoke again, surprising you with his words.
"Alright, I'll pick you up tomorrow at eight."
The dim lights of the restaurant made for a more private, intimate atmosphere. Gojo had actually kept his promise, you could tell the restaurant was way over your budget, the cutlery alone seemed to have cost a fortune. The waiter had been very attentive, leading you both to a table at the back of the restaurant and taking your coat to put it away.
Once the two of you were alone, you had assured Satoru that you had only been joking, that you had not really taken his offer seriously.
"Why did you come?" He asked, taking a bite out of the appetizer he had ordered.
"I mean, who am I to turn down free food?"
He chuckled, "And what do you think so far? Worth your time?"
"Ask me after dessert and I'll give you an answer."
Dinner continued with ease, and after a few glasses of wine, you began to laugh at his jokes and make some of your own. You never thought that spending time with Satoru would make you so... happy? You weren't even sure how to describe it, the only thing you knew was that it wasn't horrible.
It was actually quite nice. And for the first time in a long time, you allowed yourself to get to know someone.
You talked about where you grew up, how you got your powers, and about your family. In return, he talked about his clan, how he had mastered his powers and about some of his years at Jujutsu High. You talked about little things, your hobbies, your favorite color and your favorite movies.
Talking with Satoru made you realize that you knew so little about him, even though you had known each other for almost a year. Sure, you knew some little details here and there, but you never went in depth, to you, Satoru was nothing more than a pain in the ass and a pawn of the Jujutsu society. Unfortunately, it seemed that almost everyone else thought the same.
That night, you realized that only a handful of people saw him as Satoru instead of Gojo, the greatest defender in the Jujutsu society. Perhaps that was why, despite his colorful personality, he seemed lonely. He seemed to be missing someone in his life who would see him as something other than the power he was born with. For whatever reason, this thought made your heart ache.
Throughout the night, you found yourself staring at him more than usual, noticing every little detail of his face. You noticed the way his hair sometimes fell over his eyes, the way his smile showed most of his teeth, the wrinkles that appeared at the corners of his eyes when he laughed. You also noticed the tenderness of his eyes, how every so often he looked at you in a way that would make your heart hammer against your chest or the way he would look at your lips every so often and you werenât sure if he knew you noticed or he just didnât care.
At the end of the night, you were having trouble deciding which dessert to get, not sure whether to get the cheesecake or the assorted mochi, so he told you to get both.
"I don't believe you, there's no way you don't have hobbies."
He laughed. "I really don't. I'm just too good at everything I do."
You rolled your eyes at him. "And you have the biggest ego I've ever seen in my life."
"Some would call it ego, I call it confidence. And well deserved."
You finished your last mochi, enjoying the last bit of strawberry flavor. As soon as you had taken the last bite, Satoru spoke eagerly.
"So, was this dinner good enough for you to tell me about your tattoo?"
You pretended to hesitate for a second, but you had to hand it to him, he went all out.
"I guess I have to tell you now that you spent so much money on it." You said with a sigh.
"Yes!" He exclaimed, pumping one of his fists in the air.
"Don't get too excited, it's nothing too scandalous." You pulled your cleavage to the side, exposing the left side of your chest.
His eyes locked on the drawing on your skin, heat burning inside you the longer he stared.
"It's a flower?"
You nodded. "It's a heliotrope."
"What does that mean?"
Your voice wavered, your chest tightening. You couldn't talk about it. You didn't want to. But you couldn't show him.
"That's a story for another time."
As much of an asshole as you thought Satoru was, you knew he wasn't an idiot, he understood that you didn't want to talk about it, so he seemed to let it go.
"Alright, that's fair. I got a lot of secrets tonight." He stood up and straightened his black suit. "I'm going to go to the bathroom real quick and then we can go, is that okay?"
"Sure, take your time."
You lost sight of him as he turned the corner and your mind wandered over everything that had happened tonight. You hadn't expected that Satoru would actually buy you dinner and in such a place, and even though you knew that this was just a peasant's change for him, it still surprised you.
You were also surprised by how... human he was. He had surprised you once when he told you about the children he was sponsoring and taking care of, since their parents were nowhere to be found. You didn't get the change to ask for their names, but you were sure you would get another one, you were sure Satoru wasn't done surprising you.
A man called your name and made you look up.Â
Shiu Kong stood in front of you, his desvihebeled appearance intact, except for the way he had done his hair, a small attempt to soothe it.
"Kong." You said as you stood up. You shook his hand in greeting, wanting to get this conversation over with before Gojo returned. "What brings you here? Pleasure or business?"
"You know it's always business." He scoffed. His eyes took a double look at your dress before a small grin appeared on his face. "I would ask the same, but it looks like it's all pleasure for you."
"I guess you could call it that." You shrugged nonchalantly.
Neither of you said anything for a second. It wasn't like you were friends, you were barely a step above strangers and the only connection you had was gone. Fortunately, Shiu broke the silence.
"I never expected to see you here." He cleared his throat. "It's good to see you moved on."
Her heart fell to the ground, replaced by a painful sting.
"I... no, it's not like that." You tried to explain, your words stumbling.
Why did you try to justify yourself? This wasn't a date, was it?
"Hey, I'm not asking for explanations." He said. "I'm not judging you, it's been a while since anyone has heard from Toji."
Toji.
His name came back to haunt you as if it was the first day he didn't go home. The pain was excruciating, almost blinding you to the point of passing out. You hadn't heard his name in over a year, you didn't even dare to say it.
That was a date, right? What the hell were you doing going on a date with Satoru Gojo? How could you do that to Toji's memory? How could you be in a restaurant, laughing and enjoying the company of someone who wasn't his? A sorcerer's sorcerer?
How could you?
A man in a suit called out to Kong, motioning for him to come over to where he was.
"Anyway, I have to go now. Have a good life, kid."
You barely registered his handshake or when he walked away, all you could do was stand there and try not to collapse. The sudden realization hit you, you hadnât thought of him throughout this whole night, only at the very end of it.
You had forgotten him.
A hand on your shoulder made you jump, worried blue eyes looking at you through the usual black glasses.
"Are you okay?" Satoru asked, worry lacing his words.
No.
How could you be okay when you forgot him? How could you even do that?
You didn't know what to do, the hole in your chest threatened to swallow you whole. It was what you deserved.
"I-I have to go." You said simply.
With quick movements, you grabbed your purse and made your way to the exit. You didn't care about getting your coat, not when your lungs couldn't breathe, each inhale bringing you closer to suffocation.
The heels you wore hindered your steps, almost causing you to trip twice. With frantic movements, you kicked them off, your bare feet touching the streets of Tokyo as you tried to run from the white-haired sorcerer who kept calling your name.
Calls and texts flooded your phone, finally forcing you to turn it off.
You avoided Satoru after that.
"The wound will heal in no time, but I would still recommend you to take a few days off." Shoko said as she took off her gloves.
"I'll think about it." You said, no real promise behind your words.
Shoko looked at you, studying your face carefully. You knew what she saw, the dark circles, the carelessness of your appearance. But most of all, the pain behind your eyes. Maybe a while ago you would have been careful, trying to hide it so no one could see it, but at this point you didn't really care anymore.
As you rolled your shirt down to cover your torso and the large cut that had been made there, the door burst open, making both of you jump.
Satoru entered the room, taking strong and determined steps towards you, and within seconds he was standing next to you. He lifted your shirt just enough to get a glimpse of the damage the curse had caused, cold fingers poking at the newly healed skin.
It took you a few seconds to snap out of it, but eventually you were aware of how close he was and how exposed you felt.
"What the hell are you doing?" You barked, taking a step away from him and dropping your shirt.
"What the fuck am I doing?" He repeated, an incredulous tone in his words. "What the hell were you thinking? We were supposed to go on this mission together."
You got his text, along with several others telling you to wait for him before going in. Just like the ones you got before, this one was ignored.
"I don't remember asking for a partner."
He scoffed. âYou canât be serious right now? You almost fucking died and youâre mad at me for wanting to go with you.â
"I don't need your help!"
"You do when you've been trying to get yourself killed ever since I met you!" He shouted, his chest heaving with anger as he came closer to you.
"Satoru-" The doctor tried to intervene but Gojo stopped her.
"Stay out of this, Shoko."
"So what if I am?" You said and came closer to him.
"Do you know how fucking crazy this is?" His hands went to his hair and pulled it back in despair. "You've had a bad life? Tough shit, everyone here has been through tough times, you think that makes you special? That somehow that makes it okay for you to say fuck it and act so fucking stupid?"
His words burned deep inside you, you didn't know what he was talking about. He couldn't even imagine how it felt. He knew the effect of his words, but he kept going.
"You want to know why I still go on missions with you? Because of shit like this. Not only will you get yourself killed, but you might end up hurting someone else. Is that what you want? Don't you care about anything but your own selfishness?"
Your eyes began to sting, his face just inches from yours. Blue eyes were once more focused on you, once again searching in your soul. This time though, you could see something in them, a type of pain you didnât understand. It almost made you back away.
Almost.
"My life is none of your damn business. Drop the 'savior' complex and stay the fuck out of my life." You pushed him away. "We're not friends, I can barely stand you, and I sure as hell don't need you pestering me with whatever this is. Stay. The. Fuck. Away."
His hands became fists and you thought he was going to grab you, maybe even shake you. Instead, he walked away, the only remnant of his presence being the sandalwood scent of his cologne. You stood there for a while, your chest heaving as you tried to fight back the tears.
"He's not wrong, you know?" Shoko spoke, her voice startling you. For a moment, you forgot that she was in the room. "It's pretty obvious that you're trying to get yourself killed."
You thought about arguing with her the same way you had with Gojo, only you didn't have the energy anymore, the weight of everything hit you all at once. You sat back in the chair where you had been examined, your head hanging from your shoulders.
"I don't know what to tell you, Shoko. Life sucks."
She laughed. "Yeah, I'll give you that much." She reached into her pocket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes. She grabbed one before holding her arm out to you. "You want one?"
"Do you have anything stronger?"
"Not today, sorry. Cigarette is the best I can offer."
You took one out and put it between your lips. Shoko lit yours before hers, the smoke filling your lungs immediately. The raw sensation in your throat almost made you forget your pain, a good side effect you more than welcomed.
âI know that Satoru can be a little too much but he means well.â She paused, trying to find the right words. "We have seen this before with one of our classmates, not exactly the same, but close enough. He was Satoru's best friend."
You were surprised, not once had he ever mentioned it, although you hadn't exactly asked questions about his life, not until this dinner.
"Is he dead?" was the only thing you could think of to ask.
"Oh, no. He's very much alive, he's just..." She took a drag on the cigarette. "I don't think it's my place to tell you this, so let's just say that things have gone very badly for him. So you can understand why he's a little worried about you."
Neither of you said much after that, preferring to smoke in silence. Shoko's words made sense to you, there was always a hint of sadness when Satoru talked about his school days. Even when he smiled and told you about his pranks as a teenager, at the very end of his stories, his eyes would flash with pain, just for a second.
After a few minutes, you finished your cigarette, stubbing it out on the sole of your shoe. You thanked Shoko for her care and for the cigarette as you made your way to the door until she called your name.
"Satoru told me about your dinner and how you avoided him." Heat flushed your cheeks, slightly embarrassed that someone else was aware of your actions. "I like you and I don't know what's going on between you two and it's none of my business, but he's my friend." Her eyes hardened as she spoke. "So don't hurt him or I'll have to hurt you. Don't make me hurt you."
Your eyes widened in surprise for a moment, the look in Shoko's tired eyes replaced by a certainty that sent shivers down your spine.
"I'll try not to."
Rain in Tokyo always seemed to take you by surprise, especially because you always forgot to check the weather before going out. It was something you weren't used to, but every time you were forced to run in the rain, you told yourself you'd remember next time.
With a plastic take-out bag in your hand and your leather purse covering your hair, you ran like hell through the sea of umbrellas. You looked at your watch once you reached the stop sign, sighing at the time.
10:45 a.m.
"Shit." You muttered.
You could still make it, you tried to tell yourself. As soon as the light changed and you were able to cross the street, you took off. The purse you held over your head hindered your movements, so you had decided to just let it hang by your side as you rushed through the streets, making your way back to the school.
After a few instances of almost slipping and a few assholes passing you with their cars and making it their business to splash you with the water pooled next to the sidewalk, you finally arrived, the food still safe in your hand. You reached the building, wet marks leaving a trail behind you, and you checked the time.
10:59 a.m.
Yes.
Finally reaching the classroom you wanted, you stood outside. Voices could still be heard from the inside of the room, relief washing over you as you decided you wait outside. Only you felt the cold sensation of your wet clothes, making you shiver unconsciously.
The door flung open, a group of teenagers stopping in their tracks as soon as they saw you. They looked at you, confused not only to see you there, but at the state of your clothes.
"Uh-" one of them tried to speak, but you cut him off.
âOut. Now.â
With a quick pace, they left. You took a deep breath before venturing inside the room.
Satoru sat on top of a desk at the back of the room, eyes focused on his phone. He seemed to be typing a message, a mask of worry as he seemed to type and delete over and over again. You stayed by the door, words dying on your throat. What were you supposed to say? Should you just say hi and pretend everything is good even though you havenât spoken in weeks? Or just go right to the point and apologize?
A ding from your phone brought back your attention, as well as Satoruâs. Your eyes widened, feeling as if you had gotten caught somewhere you werenât supposed to be. You reached for your phone, glad that it was still dry enough to still function.
A small smile formed on your lips.
Greatest Pain in the Ass
Hey, 10:01 a.m.
You looked back at him, a light rose tinge spreading through his cheeks.
âHi.â You said with a shy smile.
âWhy are you soaking wet?â He questioned, eyes scanning your appearance.
âItâs raining outside.â
Satoru rolled his eyes. âYou forgot to check the weather again?â
âPerhaps.â You answered, making your way to him. Once you reached the desk he was sitting on, you plopped down, opening the plastic bag you were carrying. You took out two honey lemon cold teas along with a couple of cheesecakes, two crepe rolls, and a package of sour candy.
âWhatâs this?â He asks as he grabs the tea.
You knew Satoru wasnât going to be able to resist it, his sweet tooth always coming on top of everything.
âTake it as a peace offering.â
The sorcerer took off his jacket, handing it to you. You considered not taking it, but the shiver down your spine convinced you otherwise.
âThanks.â You muttered.
In what seemed less than a minute, half the food is gone, the other half barely having a couple of bites. You sit in silence as you keep eating your cheesecake, occasionally sipping your tea.
âIâm sorry, by the way.â You broke the silence, the heaviness in your chest lifting as soon as you said the words.
âDid you just say sorry?â Asked Gojo, too incredulous to your annoyance. You nod, eying him. âYou? You said Iâm sorry? The rain must be toxic.â You rolled your eyes at him, and in return, he grabbed you by the shoulders, his face filled with fake concern. âIt must already be in your brain! No, please donât die!â
âAlright, asshole. I get it.â You pulled yourself apart, completely annoyed by his antics. You take a sip of your drink; you knew you deserved it. âI really am sorry, though. Iâm sorry for leaving you at the restaurant and snapping at you back at Shokoâs.â You looked down to your hands, the feeling of shame creeping up over you. âI guess Iâm sorry for being a dickhead in general to you, especially when youâve been nice to me.â
âWhy did you leave that day at the restaurant?â
âIââ your words were caught on your throat. Should you lie? Tell the truth. Avoid the question? You looked at him, and even without being able to see his eyes, you knew what he was thinking.
Tell the truth.
You took a deep breath. âI used to be with someone, a man older than me, and he was... he was involved in a bad world. He left for one of his jobs, and one day he didnât come back; he simply disappeared.â You stopped for a second, a knot on your throat almost breaking your voice. âI came here to find him; look for any clues that might tell me what happened to him, but I didnât find anything, not a single word about him.â A tear took you by surprise when it fell from your left eye. You quickly wiped it, as if that could clear out the pain your heart felt. âThe guy that used to be his handler was at the restaurant; we saw each other, and heââ you scoffed. âHe thought we were on a date and that he was glad I moved on. After that, I just couldnât stay; I felt as if I was betraying his memory, betraying him, and everything was just too much for me. I felt like I was drowning the more I stayed there, so I did the best thing I could; I ran.â
Another tear made its way down your face, but you stopped caring. No matter how hard you tried, the pain of losing him would always be there.
After you finished your explanation, seconds went by without any response, something you attributed to him processing your story, but you werenât sure. It had always surprised you how volatile Satoru was, sometimes easy to read as a first grade book, and sometimes, like now, where you might as well be reading a forgotten foreign language.
âIs that why you always put yourself at risk?â He finally spoke.
âYes.â You answered, a tinge of shame crawling up over you. âI had a plan, you know? I was fine dying doing this. I needed it.â
âWhat changed?â
âYou, I guess. Itâs very difficult to die when someone keeps getting in the way.â You chuckled to yourself, Satoru, not finding any humor in your words. âI donât know; one day I woke up and I realized that I didnât want to die. I also realized I like being here.â
He looked at you, and this time his eyes carried a sadness too big to bear. âAre you still looking for him?â He asked, almost hesitantly.
âNo, I know heâs dead.â
âHow are you so sure?â
âI just feel it.â You shrugged. âI think I felt it the day he died; there was this painful and heavy sensation that got in my chest, and I couldnât shake it off.â
âWhat would you do if you found the people that killed him?â
His question took you by surprise, as you didnât expect it from him. You had thought about it a couple of times though, on long nights where you missed his presence and the scent was almost gone from his clothes. On nights you wished you had gone to Tokyo with him instead of staying back in Kyoto in your normal life. On nights you wished you could have his touch at least one more time.
âIâd kill them. And Iâd make sure they would suffer.â
You both stayed in silence after that. A heaviness in the air had surrounded you, almost as if you had made things worse by telling him the truth. You knew that he wasnât mad or disgusted by you, but there was a storm of thoughts going through his mind that made you wish you could read minds.
The silence was agonizing, and the longer it kept going, the more your chest would tighten. You wanted to break it any way you could, so you decided to ask a question that had been gnawing at you for weeks.
âCan I ask you something?â
He looked back at you, coming back to reality. âShoot.â
âWas that supposed to be date?â
He smiled, almost sadly, as he fixed his hair. For some reason you got the feeling he had something more to say to you, but after careful deliberation he gave you a simple answer.
âOnly if you want it to be.â
It was up to you.
God, why did he do that?
Was that what you wanted? Your mind was nowhere close to thinking about a relationship with someone else, let alone having a date. There were so many things wrong with you: dead boyfriend, inability to move on, active desire to die, walls so high up they could probably compete with the Great Wall of China. You had an attitude problem, a dangerous job, and you hated people getting too close to you. You were not looking to date.
But.
If you were going to have a date with anyone, the idea of it being Satoru didnât bother you in the least.
Maybe you even liked it.
âI think I do.â You whispered.
You smiled at him.
He smiled too.
Satoru opened his mouth to say something, but a ding of his phone interrupted him. With annoyance, he unlocked his phone, his fingers typing up a quick response before putting the device back in his pocket.
âCâmon, lets go.â He said as he put together the trash from your snack and threw it in the can.
You downed the rest of your sweet tea, throwing the bottle to the same can and getting it in the first try. Satoru turned around and gave you a thumbs up. You caught up to him with a little stride.
"Where are we going?â
âTo your place so you can get changed.â
Right. You were still soaking wet from the rain. Suddenly you were hyperaware of the squeaking sound your boots made and the smaller but still present trail of water you left on your way.
âAfter that, we have to go to Shinjuku.â
âAlright.â
His arm wrapped around your shoulders, and for the first time since you met him, you didnât slap his arm away.
âWait, I have another question.â You said.
âWhat is it?â
âWhat did you text me for?â
ââŚâ
âYou were going to apologize, werenât you?â
âI was not.â
"Yes, you were! Man, I shouldâve taken longer buying all this shit.â
âWhatever, it doesnât matter anymore. You apologized first, so I win.â
âOh, so it was competition now?â
Your voices filled the empty halls of the building, the bickering between you not stopping even when you were on good terms. This time there was something different though, and as laughter began erupting from both of you, you were sure there was no going back to how things were before today.
You liked that thought.
âââââ
Pink petals fell from the sky, swept away by the chill winds of April. Groups of people were scattered around Ueno Park, admiring the beatty of hundreds of cherry blossom trees along with hanging lanterns that decorated the main path to follow. Conversations, laughter, and music filled the air, and once you walked further into the park, the smell of food reached your nose.
Satorus hand pulled you towards one of the food stands, making both of you wait in line for some croquettes. You looked down at your joined hands, entwined fingers and all, and your heart skipped a beat.
Coming to the Cherry Blossom Festival had been an impromptu plan. Satoru had just texted you to dress up for the night in something you found comfortable enough to walk, and 20 minutes later he had knocked on your door, a blanket on his shoulder and a small basket on hand.
You liked that about him. Most of your dates had been improvised, to a certain extent. It was either him wanting to do something right in the moment or with him barely giving you time, just like when he asked you to pick you up the next day.
He brought spontaneity to your life in a way that made you happy. Satoru brought a lightness with him that you didnât think a lot of people saw and how you wished everyone could. Maybe then they could see past the confident facade he always seemed to carry, and instead they would find the human, annoying as ever but with a heart the size of the world.
After getting your food, you went to find a place to sit that would allow you to have some privacy. Gojo guided you over a no trespassing sign, and when you expressed your concern, he simply smiled.
âTrust me, weâll be fine.â
So you followed him until you found a good spot; there he extended the blanket while you put down the basket, making sure to take everything out. Petals fell all around you, and the darkness of the night enveloped you, except for the dim light of the moon and a couple of lanterns.
Everything was perfect.
Then his hand grabbed the side of your face, making you turn to him. He had taken out his glasses so the totality of his blue eyes were exposed. God, they were beautiful. His eyes went from your eyes to your lips, a quick but intense glance. His hand traveled to the back of your head, almost as if they were asking for permission to go forward. You grabbed his arm, your finger giving him a slight caress.
That was all he needed.
He kissed you. He kissed you in a way that made you forget to stop breathing. He kissed you in a way that you felt every single sensation around you, yet the only thing you could focus on was his lips on yours. He kissed you, and you wanted more. You wanted everything.
He kissed you with desperation, like he had wanted this for a long time.
He kissed you, and you tasted his mint toothpaste along with something else you couldnât place.
You pulled apart to face worried blue eyes, looking for a sign that perhaps you didnât want that. He thought he mightâve overstepped his boundaries, and you were going to run away again.
You kissed him again to erase his doubts, and you knew it.
He tasted like the future.
Moans filled his bedroom. The squeaking of the bed pushing against the wall made you glad you were at his apartment instead of yours; if anyone had to deal with angry neighbors, let it be him. Satoru hadnât even let you take off your clothes completely; instead, he had pushed down your underwear and lifted up your skirt, your underwear still hanging from one of your ankles.
Your face was facing a pillow, but you had heard him pull his pants desperately. He was big; he had warned you, but once the tip of his cock had tried to breach your entrance, your confidence in taking him had severely dwindled. He knew what he was doing though, his hands traveling in front of you, finding your clit.
A gasp left your lips, the coldness of his hand surprising you. He drew small, precise circles on it; every time he would hit a certain angle, you could feel yourself getting wetter. He knew what he was doing.
âYouâve been driving me crazy, you know that.â He whispered in your ear.
Electricity traveled all over your body, the anticipation of him finally being inside you driving you crazy.
âI donât know what youâre talking about.â You panted, grinding all over his fingers.
You felt his hand smacking your ass. Hard.
He pulled your hair back, your head lifting from the pillow. âDonât act dumb with me, princess.â
His lips found the right place on your neck, and the sensation of him sucking on it made your knees weak.
âYou know this is my favorite skirt.â
Smack.
His fingers never gave you a rest; the longer they kept going, the more the pressure built inside you. Your skin felt on fire; every kiss, every caress, and every smack made you feel like you could almost cum. Satoru had a way of overwhelming your senses; you sometimes wondered if it was a side effect from his six eyes.
He went faster, fingers using your own moisture to slide all over your bundle of nerves. You were so close, your moans getting louder and louder. You wanted it. No, you needed it. You need it like a thirsty man needs water.
âPlease.â You begged.
âPlease what, princess.â
âD-donât stop, Iâm so close.â You breathed.
So, so close, the coil inside you tightening, ready to snap.
He stopped.
âWhat the fââ Your whine was cut short by his cock sliding inside of you.
He did it all at once, not giving you time to adjust. God, he was huge. With one sharp thrust, he was completely inside. You felt a little pain, but the overwhelming amount of pleasure you felt washed it away to the back of your mind when he started thrusting.
âIs that what you wanted?â He asked, his voice gruff as he digged his fingers on your hips.
Smack.
âAnswer me, you little slut. You wanted my cock so bad?â
âY-yes!â You were barely able to say.
Smack.
âYou thought you could tease me all night.â
Smack.
âGrind your ass against me.â
Smack.
âYour fucking hand was under my pants while we were in that meeting. You thought that was fucking funny?â
Smack. Smack. Smack.
âFuck! No!â
His pace was relentless and punishing. He seemed like a wild animal who had just caught his prey. His thrust was too much; you found yourself pulling away from him, but strong hands pushed you back to him.
âWhere the fuck do you think youâre going?â He growled. âYou wanted it so bad, now you have to take it.â A hand pressed your head against the bed, and you felt his left leg hoping on the bed.
You didnât think he could reach deeper inside you. Once again, you were proven wrong. You couldnât last longer, not when you felt the tip of his cock almost hitting against your cervix. Your walls tightened around him, causing him to hiss in pleasure.
âGod, this pussy is perfect.â
He buried himself again and again and again until tears rolled down your eyes. He knew you were close.
âYouâre going to come all over this cock, princess?â
A pathetic mumble resembling a âyesâ escaped your lips. That gave him the signal he needed.
This time his rhythm never stopped; consistent hard, deep, and quick thrusts punished your pussy over and over again. His grip on your ass tightened too; you were sure you would have marks on your skin tomorrow morning. He kept going, faster and faster; you heard moans that left his lips, and you were sure he was also close.
âCome on, baby, come all over this cock.â
That was all you needed to come undone.
He kept going for a couple of thrusts, rhythm gone as the desperation for chasing his high became bigger and bigger. His hands grabbed the sides of your hips, using them to bounce all over his cock. It was almost as if you were his own toy.
He came no long after that.
Both lay in bed, sweat covering your forehead and back as you gasped for air. Satoru was the first to stand up, grabbing a towel from the bathroom to clean himself. You were too tired to move, so the sorcerer took it upon himself to clean you himself. The cloth felt weird against the raw skin of your pussy but the carefulness of his touch made it better.
The towel flew across the room, landing in an unknown location. After picking up the now crumpled-up sheet, he covered both of you with it, his arms bringing you to his chest. The bluest eyes in the world looked at you, admiring every inch of your face as his hand caressed it.
You took the lead this time, reaching to him for a kiss. Your lips touched his, and his lips parted slightly, allowing you to deepen the kiss, his hands burying themselves in your scalp, pushing you in as if the closeness that you had wasnât enough.
For the first time in a long time, you were happy at night; your heart didnât ache as you fell asleep in the warmth of his arms.
âGod, why the fuck did I listen to you?â You mumbled, dangerously close to the edge of the building.
Tokyo's city lights shone below your feet, the never-ending life of its streets still buzzing no matter how dark the sky was. The altitude you were in made the wind strong enough that you felt you were going to be swept away by it. The jacket you had brought was no match for the wind, your hands clenched on the material as if that would warm you more.
âBecause itâs going to be fun.â Satoru said before kissing your cheek.
âNot if I freeze to death.â
Satoru stood next to you, tall, powerful, and beautiful, with his eyes free from the typical dark glasses. Even as you were at the edge of the top of a twenty-nine-story building, he seemed so nonchalant it couldnât help but annoy you.
How could a man so annoying be so perfect?
How were you so lucky to have found two perfect men in your lifetime?
âYou were the one that wanted to try this.â He laughed, a big smile on his face.
âWhatever, letâs just do it.â
His hand extended towards you, waiting for you to grab him back. Your hand went halfway before the corner of your eye caught how tall the building actually was. You had refused to look down for this very reason, but you couldnât do anything now; your eyes were locked in.
What the fuck were you doing?
Fear settled in the pit of your stomach along with regret, as Satoru was right; you were the one that said you wanted to see how his teleporting worked. When you had asked him what his favorite part of it was, he answered free falling from a building and teleporting back to where he had started. And now, the longer you looked, the dizzier you felt.
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
âI canât do it. This is fucking insane.â The volume of your voice was an octave higher, but you couldnât control it.
You began backing away until hands on your face stopped you.
âHey, itâs ok.â He said calmly. âWe donât have to do this if you donât want to. We can just go back and do something else.â He waited a moment, trying to see if you would back away, but you didnât. âIf you want to do it, though, you have to trust me; trust that I wouldnât let anything happen to you.â
He backed away, moving close to the edge. His hand reached out to you once more.
âDo you trust me?â
Your hand finally took his, trembling legs making their way to him.
You took a deep breath. You trusted him, even when your senses told you it was a bad idea. You trusted him even when your survival instinct fought hard to push you away from the edge.
You trusted him.
Wholeheartedly.
Fully.
Unconditionally.
You both jumped.
The rational part of your mind told you it had happened in a matter of seconds; it couldnât have been more than four, considering the height of the building and the fact that you didnât splatter all over the floor. For the other part of your mind, though, it was endless. You fell, and you fell, and you couldnât stop falling; the floor was close but never close enough.
The scream that left your lungs made your throat ache, your chest rumbling as the scream kept coming and coming. Your heart wasnât in your chest anymore; you were sure it had already exploded the moment your feet left the building. You were even surprised you were still breathing; your lungs didnât seem to get enough air in them. You had heard how people that fall from skyscrapers die from heart attacks rather than the fall itself. Now you could see that happening; the longer you thought about it, the more you felt close to death. That was until you felt pressure on your hand. Satoruâs hand never left yours, even when you tried to pull your arms to your face, trying to cover your eyes from the ever-closing floor.
One moment you were in the air, and next you were back at the edge of the building.
Your legs failed, almost making you drop to the ground, but his arms were there to keep you steady. Miraculously, you still had a living heart, as you felt itâs beating on your ears every time. Gojoâs worried face gained your attention, his eyes scanning you as his lips moved, but his words never reached your ears. Only then did you finally process what had happened.
You had jumped from a building, and you had teleported back.
You were still alive.
The fear was quickly replaced by blinding excitement. The adrenaline coursing through your veins felt like hot liquid fire, this time the trembling of your body caused by it. The sudden feeling that you could conquer the world overcame you; you wanted to do it again and again and again so you could feel like this forever.
A laughter came out of you, which initially had scared Satoru, but the more you laughed, the more he was sure you were ok.
âI canât believe I just did that.â You said as Satoruâs hands helped you stand up.
âI told you it was awesome.â He laughed along with you.
You jumped to his arms, pulling him in for a kiss. Your hands traveled all over his hair, pulling it as you deepened the kiss. His hands brought you up, settling on your ass once your legs wrapped around his waist. Something in him was desperate for your touch, his hands holding you in place as both of you kept exploring each other.
You pulled away from him, excited to tell him you wanted to try it again, but he interrupted you.
âLetâs do it agaââ
âI love you.â
Your heart stopped this time.
You knew he had loved you for a long time. Every moment you spent together you could see it. His love was in everything he did. It was in the way he made you laugh, in the way he would make sure youâd have enough to eat, in the way he would buy your favorite snacks on the way to your apartment, on the way he would offer to do the dishes so you could go take a shower, on the way he would caress your face, his eyes screaming the words he didnât dare to say. His love was everywhere.
A long time ago you had never thought you would love someone the way you had loved Toji, and in a way you were right. Loving Toji had been intense, warm, and comfortable; for a man so closed up to love, he had surprisingly shown you so much of it, even if it had taken some time for it. You had loved Toji first, and you had given him your unconditional love even before he knew your feelings. Loving Satoru was different; it was quick and unexpected, but most importantly, it made you feel alive. You had gotten used to the shell of yourself you presented to the world, something you had gotten comfortable with, but Satoru had managed to break it with his bubbly, eccentric persona. He had teared the walls you had built, little by little chirping them apart, until your heart could beat for someone again. There was no comparison between Toji and Satoru; they both had your heart forever, just in different ways.
He loved you even when you felt like you didnât deserve it.
So how could you not love him back?
âI love you too.â
The smell of pancakes filled Satoruâs apartment, along with the sound of his tinkering around the kitchen. You stretched yourself along his bed, your skin welling the coolness of the expensive sheets he had. Your body was sore; the toll of yesterdayâs curse, along with your nighttime activities with Satoru, had left you drained.
You stood up, using one of his shirts to cover up. The sight that welcomed you once you reached the kitchen made you laugh. Pans and food were scattered everywhere as the sorcerer went back and forth from the pans to the freshly made orange juice he was trying to make.
âWho wouldâve thought pancakes and orange juice would be your one true enemy?â You chuckled.
He turned around to face you, his hands carrying a bowl with what you assumed was pancake batter. A shy smile adorned his face, which managed to swell your heart with love.
âItâs not my fault the instructions on the recipe werenât clear; how was I supposed to know you had to grease the pan with butter?â
âIâm pretty sure every recipe says so; even then, itâs basic knowledge.â
You walked closer to him, reaching out to him for a morning kiss, but he backed away.
"Don't; I have a raw egg all over me.â
âNow, how did you manage to do that?â
Satoru shrugged his shoulders, going back to his duty. You propped yourself on top of one of the kitchen stools, looking at the white hair sorcerer finish cooking the last of the pancakes.
âYou need any help?â
âNah, Iâm almost done. I was trying to bring you breakfast to bed, but I was sabotaged.â
âSure you were.â
After a few minutes of cooking, the last of the pancakes rested well on top of the mountain he had created. The orange juice was now in a clear crystal jar right in front of you. It wouldâve been a nice scenery if it wasnât for the mess that tainted the background. Satoru began throwing everything in the sink in a rushed manner, his hand reaching out to grab the kitchen towel.
You stood up from your seat, snatching the towel out of his hand.
âWhy donât you go take a shower while I clean this?â You offered as you thought it would be uncomfortable to eat covered in eggs, flour, and orange juice.
He shook his head. âNo, I had this whole thing planned andââ
You interjected âAnd Iâm very grateful that you did this, but I also want you to enjoy breakfast. Besides, itâs just going to be a little cleaning. I promise, as soon as you get out, Iâll stop cleaning.â
Satoru, as stubborn as he always was, was about to refuse your help, but to his dismay and your amusement, his hand landed unspilled batter that covered a part of the counter. You tried to control your laughter, which only made it more obvious, earning an eye roll from the sorcerer.
âFine, but no more cleaning as soon as I get out of the shower.â
You lifted your right hand. âI solemnly swear.â
He left the room with quick steps, the sound of his discarding his clothes echoing from his bedroom. You put yourself in action, focusing on just cleaning the counters as it felt like a more important task than tackling the mountain of dishes; Satoru could take care of that.
You were almost done throwing all the trash that you had gathered in the can when a ringtone surprised you. Satoruâs phone had somehow ended behind the toaster, and surprisingly, it had survived being stainless with all the food flying around it. You wiped your hands quickly before grabbing it, Ijichiâs name flashing on the screen.
âIjichi is calling you.â You yelled at him, sure that he would be able to hear you even in the shower.
âIâll call him back later.â He yelled back.
You put it in the counter, letting the call go to voicemail. You were about to keep going with your duties when the phone rang againâanother call from Ijichi. This ringing kept going for a little while until it went to voicemail once more, then the texts came, one after the other.
A sudden heaviness installed in your stomach; maybe it was something important; it had to be for him to be so insistent. You grabbed the phone in your hands, typing the four-digit password to unlock it. Another message popped up on his screen, and you clicked on it.
Ijichi
Iâm sorry to interrupt you, Mr. Gojo, but we have a situation. 9:37 am
I wouldnât be so insistent if it wasnât serious. 9:37 am
Please get back to me as soon as possible. 9:38 am
Itâs about the Fushiguro kids. 9:38 am
Fushiguro kids.
Fushiguro.
You dropped the phone; itâs screen is cracking as it touches the ground. It couldnât be them, could it? There was no way Satoru had anything to do with those kids. Why would he? You had never even told him Tojiâs last name, none the less told him about his kid and stepkid. It couldnât be, could it?
âWhatâs wrong?â His voice startled you, a concerned look on his face as you walked towards you.
You gather all the strength you have, unsure whether the words will actually come out of your mouth without getting stuck in your throat. You looked at the floor, thinking it would be the only way you would be able to talk.
âWho are the Fushiguro kids?â Your voice was barely audible, the straining in it impossible to miss. You looked back at him, hoping to find his usual smile or perhaps just a confused look on why you were acting like that.
You hoped for anything that would tell you it wasnât the same Fushiguro family you were thinking about.
Instead, wide, panicked, blue eyes looked back at you.
âIââ
âDonât fucking lie to me.â
It didnât take a genius to figure out Satoru was thinking of an excuseâanything he could bullshit you to take away the anger that began simmering in you.
âWho the fuck are the Fushiguro kids?â
A heartbeat went by, then he answered.
âMegumi and Tsumiki.â
A scoff left your lips. Everything in the room was spinning, the beating of your heart pounding incessantly on your head. Millions of questions ran through your head, but you were unable to focus on one, each second passing you by and flooding you with emotions you werenât sure how to process. Was this how it felt to be in his unlimited void?
âHow do you know them?â
âToji Fushiguro told me about Megumi.â
âDid you know who I was?â Your voice was barely above a whisper.
He hesitated, not wanting to reveal himself, but there was no point in it, not anymore.
âYes.â
âWhatâ? How did youâ?â
There it was, the same sadness you would sometimes catch behind his eyes. You had never dared to ask about it, sure that he would come to tell you with time. You had guessed it had to be with Suguru; the things you had asked about him earning almost the same sad look of losing his best friend.
But this wasnât a sadness about losing someone. It was a sadness knowing everything would end as soon as you knew the truth.
No. It couldnât be. It couldnât be him.
He couldnât be the one.
Not Satoru.
âNo.â You backed away from him, his presence digging a hole in your chest. âNo, no, no, no.â
âPlease, let me explain.â His hand tried to reach you but you slapped it away.
âWhat the fuck are you going to explain?â You screamed, the last syllables of your sentence breaking as tears pooled in your eyes. âThat you fucking killedââ you couldnât even say the words; they tasted like vile rising from your esophagus.
âIâm sorry.â
Rage.
Pure, blinding rage.
Your senses, your body, your thoughtsâeverything was swarmed by rage. Your hand, almost like in automatic motion, punched the sorcerer square in the face, landing him across the room. His body left a dent in the wall; the few frames he had hanging were now broken apart, all scattered over the floor.
Before you could think about it, your hand had already reached out to your bag, taking out the knife Toji had given you. The shock from your hit had passed, and now Satoru stood up, a small cut on his cheek. You sensed him before he had even teleported, the sudden cursed energy surge behind you alerting you of his moves. You grabbed him by his throat, slamming him back down to the floor.
After spending time, you had learned to read every part of Satoru that involved his fighting techniques along with the signature of his cursed energy. You had learned everything that was to learn about the greatest sorcerer in the world, and now you were going to use it to finish him, even if you died.
You grabbed your knife, your cursed energy amplifying the one the object already owned, and you aimed it at his heart. You wanted him to feel the same pain he had caused you when he killed him, the pain he caused when he had lied to you. You were going to carve his heart out, and maybe then he could understand a fraction of what you were feeling.
His teleportation worked again, this time placing himself further away from you in the room. The tip of your knife crashed against the wood panels, leaving a dent in them.
âPlease, stop.â He pleaded, the sorrow in his voice making your heartache ten times worse.
You didnât stop; you couldnât allow yourself to stop.
Your body smashed against his, knocking him down against the bed. Slash after slash he dodged, your knife unable to pierce his skin. In between movements, he kept pleading with you, the desperation in his voice increasing with each attempt.
Somewhere along the fight you saw an opportunity at his feet. You werenât sure if it had been on purpose or maybe it was just a coincidence his guard wasnât as high as you had expected, but you seized the moment, your arm managing to pin him against a wall.
The knife you held shoots up straight to his neck, the blade making contact with his skin. You were ready to slash a straight line along it, but the back of your mind told you something was wrong.
You could touch him. All along the fight, you had been able to touch him. The cut he had from your punch still bled slightly, another piece of evidence of your proximity to him. Every kick, every punch, and every tackle had made direct impact with his body.
Not once during the fight had he activated his infinity.
The blade dug on his skin, and a faint drop of blood trailed down his neck.
âWhy the fuck arenât you using your infinity? I could fucking kill you.â You screamed in his face, digging your knife deeper into his skin. âWhy arenât you fighting back?â
A despairing smile showed on his face.
âBecause I love you.â
Hot, salty tears cascaded along your face, the bridge of anger finally snapping as the sorrow took over everything you could feel. You couldnât stop them; the more you tried to contain them, the bigger the hole in your chest grew.
He loved you, and you believed him.
You loved him back, and that love made you want to die. You couldnât kill him no matter how much you pretended you wanted to; you knew you couldnât survive losing someone that you loved again.
No matter how much you hated him at the same time.
You stood up, ready to grab your pants and bolt through the door. His hand stopped you, steading you in place.
âPlease, donât leave.â His begged, tears matching yours. âPlease donât leave me.â
Two bleeding hearts pleaded for each other that morning; one begged for forgiveness while the other begged to be put out of its misery. Both of them were entwined by the love they had for each other, along with the hurt they caused.
Yours was the only one that got what it wanted.
âNever contact me again. Iâll kill you if you do.â

[Images 1-3 ID: Screenshots of an email from the ACLU, reading
The results of the election are in: Donald Trump will be the 47th President of the United States.
I know these results create fear for many, particularly those whose communities have been most targeted and threatened by the President-electâs extreme rhetoric and policy proposals. If President-elect Trump comes for our communities, heâs gotta get past all of us.
President-elect Trump has been crystal clear about his plans to deport one million immigrants every year and target the enemy within â which, for Trump, means anyone who disagrees with him. He is dead serious about seeking retribution against his political opponents and deploying federal law enforcement to shut down protests and muzzle dissent. Guided by Project 2025, we are sure he will try to make good on those promises.
He and the administration officials he will put in place will work to attack the rights of LGBTQ people, implement archaic and cruel immigration policies, undermine press freedoms, and make it harder for Americans to vote.
It is not hyperbolic to say that this president presents a clear and present danger to our democracy.
.
But here at the ACLU, weâre clear-eyed about the chaos and destruction a second Trump administration will cause to our nation. Weâre done with the hand wringing. We wonât be admiring this problem. Instead, we are ready to take action the minute Trump takes the oath of office.
The fact is, weâre familiar with fighting a Trump White House.
One week into Trumpâs first presidency, we were the first organization to challenge his Muslim ban. And when the administration sought to include a citizenship question on the 2020 census, the ACLU took that fight to the Supreme Court and won. It was our litigation that stopped the inhumane practice of separating immigrant families at the border.
The ACLU filed 434 legal actions against the first Trump administrationâs illegal and cruel actions â and we are prepared to fight again with the organizationâs full firepower.
There is not a doubt in my mind that the ACLU is ready to meet this moment:
.
We have a detailed playbook that breaks down exactly how to fight Trumpâs Project 2025 agenda.
We have plans in place to litigate, legislate, and mobilize for reproductive freedom, immigrantsâ rights, LGBTQ rights, racial justice, and all civil rights and liberties â in the courts, in Congress, and in the streets.
We have a nationwide network of affiliates that uniquely enables us to take our fights local and build firewalls against the worst of Trumpâs policies in every state across America.
Quinn, here at the ACLU, we play the long game. Weâve been around for 105 years. Weâve seen 19 presidents come and go. With your support, we will vigorously defend your right to protest and speak against our government. Especially when that government attacks our civil liberties and civil rights.
The next four years will be challenging, but weâll be ready on day one. You can count on it. Weâre counting on you, too.
In solidarity,
Anthony Romero Pronouns: He, him, his ACLU Executive Director

Yes, I am an ardent hater of today's "if you feel powerless, don't forget that you can donate :))) even though you can barely feed yourself :)))" culture, where the average person has no power or agency to fight for what they believe in beyond stumping up cash.
Yes, I am going to remind y'all anyway that the American Civil Liberties Union is there to fight for your rights and they could use your support if you have any to spare. Quinn, Diamonds, Prompt #9 (option to include #1 - both are so good!!) đŤśđť
warnings: using a camera during sexual acts, dirty talk WC: 575
âAw, baby, this is just what you needed, huh?â Quinn asks, smirking devilishly through his grainy reflection. âYouâve been so stressed. Thatâs all over with now, right?â
You nod mindlessly, grinding back on his cock. Youâd been preparing for this interview all week, over-preparing to the point that youâd be able to answer any hypothetical question that your (hopefully) future employer could throw at you.Â
Quinn had helped you, of course. Heâs a doting boyfriend who wants whatâs best for you and heâll help you in any way we can. Part of helping you was the promise of stress relief, or a reward for doing so well after you complete your interview. You had chosen the big reward, wanting to focus on prepping for your interview rather than getting distracted by sex, and Quinn had told you to trust him.Â
After your interview ended, he closed your computer and replaced it with his own. He opened his camera and had you center yourself in frame, the way you had when you were talking with the hiring managers a few minutes before. Then, Quinn had done something surprising. He had stood behind you and kissed over your neck until you were melting into his touch.Â
Then heâd unbuttoned your shirt, revealing your âpretty titsâ and the bra that confines them. Heâd cradled their weight in his hands, still kissing over the sensitive skin that covers your pulse point.
It hadnât taken him long to get you standing. Heâd pushed the chair away from you, then bent you over the edge of the desk with a gentle, guiding hand. Then, he had rid you of your pants and pulled your panties to the side, crooning into your ear as he entered you with a finger.
âMy smart girl,â Quinn had said. âSo capable. You killed it, baby.â
A second finger. âTheyâd be stupid not to hire you after that interview. Almost as stupid as youâre going to be when Iâm done with you.â
It was a promise and heâs made good on it so farâ heâs at the point where heâs long since abandoned using his fingers and is now fucking into you with sharp, precise thrusts. Youâre clenching down on his cock like youâre trying to milk the cum out of him. Your moans are echoing throughout the bedroom, and occasionally Quinn will remind you to look at yourself on the screen.
âWhat would they think, baby, if they could see you now?â Quinn asks, bringing a hand to the back of your head and gripping your hair. âYou think theyâd like the show? Make you CEO right away just because you look so pretty when youâre squeezing my cock?â
âOh my God,â you whimper, blushing at the mere idea of it. Quinn loves to humiliate you a little bit, especially after a hard week for you. It makes you looser, louder, more eager to come. He knows how to erase all of your thoughts with just a few words.
âNah, youâd never let that happen,â Quinn muses. âOnly I get to see you like this, isnât that right?â
âOnly you, Quinn,â you agree breathlessly, your head dropping forward again to rest on your forearms, entirely fucked out.Â
âAh-ah, baby,â Quinn corrects, pulling your head back up with a disapproving shake of his head. âLet the camera see your face when you come. I want to watch this back next time I go out of town.â

âstop moving, toshi.â
âsorry, love.â
it has been a long week for both them and ushijima. him with his vigorous volleyball practices and them with all of their schoolwork and classes that felt never-ending. so, when the both of them had no plans this weekend, they decided it was the perfect time to do some self-care, watch crappy reality tv, and eat whatever they wanted (well, they would eat whatever they wanted, ushijima would stick to his diet).
it wasnât often that they got to go all out with their skincare or ushijimaâs, so that meant pulling out all the stops: face masks, expensive face creams, lip scrubs, and under-eye masks.
sighing, they couldnât help but smile as the hands on their waist tightened. âalright, i think we are done.â they patted their boyfriend's cheek as they removed the eye mask from under his eye. they knew by the furrow of his brows and the fidgeting that they wouldnât get the second one on (honestly, they was surprised they even got the first one on since ushijima has a thing with things being put in or around his eyes).
âhm,â ushijimaâs eyes fluttered open as he stared at them with a pout on his lips, âif youâre sure.â
âwhat,â they giggled, âyou want to keep going?â
âi donât mind, as long as you donât put those things under my eyes again.â
their smile widened. âwell, i guess some chapstick wouldnât hurt.â they tried to move towards the bathroom counter but was stopped by ushijima wrapping his arms around their waist and pulling them closer to where he sat on the toilet lid. before they could ask him what he was doing he pulled them in for a kiss. immediately their hands go to the nape of his neck and their fingers play with the hair there. the kiss in of itself wasnât anything crazy, they didnât feel butterflies in their stomach or exploding fireworks instead, they felt warm and safe and happy. the two of them kiss like they have all the time in the world, like nothing else mattered except the two of them in this bathroom. they eventually break from the kiss and rest their forehead against his. they gave him a couple more pecks before moving back so they could look at his face.
ânot that i didnât enjoy it, but what was that for?â
âchapstick,â he said with a cute smile and shrug.
they let out a surprised laugh as they smacked his shoulder âoh my god, wakatoshi!â sometimes they couldnât believe that they got to be with this man. they placed their hands on his cheeks and just stared at him. god, they wished they could take a picture of ushijima like this, with his hair pushed up off his face with a my melody headband (they had a matching kuromi one), face clean and bright, a cute smile on his face, and most importantly eyes that were filled with so much love it hurt them sometimes. they were forever grateful that they were the only person in the world who got to see him like this.
âcome on lover boy,â they reached for both his and theirs headbands and took them off, throwing them on the counter, âwe have a show to get back to.â

The Beginning of Us.
Part 2
babydaddy!Rafe x sweetheart!reader
summary: You and Rafe were high school sweethearts that continued into college however Rafe went down the wrong path and you found out you were pregnant. 3 years later finds you and Rafe trying to navigate co-parenting your 2 year old son while overcoming lifeâs obstacles and past experiences.
warnings: swearing, rafe checking out reader
word count: 1.5k
You had just put Asher down for a nap, quickly getting your stuff together by the door. Your best friend, Ashton, was opening her own bakery store today and you promised her that you would be there to help. You had called Rafe earlier in the week to make sure he was available to watch Asher while you were gone, you both had trust issues when it came to having anyone else watch your son after what happened the last time.
When you had called Rafe, he said he was free to watch Asher, that he didnât have anything else going on. That wasnât the case. After you got off the phone, he immediately rescheduled all his meetings that fell on that Friday morning. His Dad was pissed off with him because of it but he couldnât care less. His family, his son, came first. He would always be there for his son and you, if youâd let him.
Ever since Asher was born, he made a promise to himself that he would clean up his act and make up for how he treated you while you were pregnant with his son. He had a long way to go but he was trying.
You were putting your earrings on in the bathroom when you heard him come in. You could hear him set his stuff down on the counter in the kitchen before coming to find you.
Rafe came into view of the bathroom doorway, looming over you. He couldnât help himself, his eyes traveled your figure. You were wearing a baby blue sundress that came down to your knees. The top half was tighter than the bottom, making your breasts sit very nicely, snug. The v-neck wasnât too deep, just enough to leave your imagination running wild and his definitely was. You were beautiful, that was the simplest way to put it. Your figure had changed since you were together in high school and college but damn, you never looked better. If anything, he found you more attractive after birthing his son.
âAgain, Iâm sorry this is kinda late notice. I only told you about it a couple days ago. It completely slipped my mind until Ashton called me the other day and thatâs when I called you-â You continued to ramble on until Rafeâs deep voice stopped you mid sentence.
âDonât have to apologize, youâre allowed to have a life. Besides, this gives me an excuse to show Asher some new tractor catalogs I got in the mail the other day.â Rafe smiled at you, leaning against the doorway, âLittle man asleep?â
You nodded while fluffing your hair and giving yourself one more glance over in the mirror. You were about to leave the bathroom but when you turned you noticed some of your hair sticking out of place.
âShit,â you muttered to yourself. You turned back to the mirror and picked up your comb. Your hair was curled lightly but it had been giving you trouble all morning.
âYou look good, stop stressing. Youâre going to be late.â Rafe murmured, rolling his eyes half heartedly. You stopped with the comb halfway to your hair, slightly blushing after his comment.
Your relationship with Rafe was complicated. You were together for three years before you broke it off. You were done watching him waste his life away with drugs and alcohol in college but shortly after you ended things, you found out you were pregnant. To put it nicely, he was a complete asshole while you were pregnant. He wasnât there for the appointments, the cravings, the hormones, the complications towards the end. The drugs took over his life and he took it out on you while you were the most vulnerable you had ever been.
Once Asher was born though, thatâs when it changed. Rafe barely made it to the hospital when you went into labor but once he was allowed to see Asher for the first time? You swear you watched something switch in him. You didnât even have to say anything to him, he said it for you.
He had tears in his eyes while holding his son for the first time, Asher was sleeping with his head resting on Rafeâs chest. You were watching them closely. You didnât know if Rafe was currently high or not but you wanted him to at least see his son for the first time.
With silent tears running down his face, Rafe turned to you in the hospital bed, âIâm going to get better. For him. For you. Iâm done. I donât want my son growing up and seeing his father like this. He deserves better and so do you. Iâm going to prove it to you.â
After he left the hospital that night, he checked himself into a six week rehab facility and stuck to his word. He hadnât drank or done drugs since. He was slowly restoring your faith in him. It took a while to get where you were today but he was still determined to prove himself to you and Asher, he never stopped. While he was a good dad and a better person today, it was still hard to forget how he treated you while you were pregnant with his son. You tell yourself thatâs why you werenât together now. You had convinced yourself you both were better off just co-parenting.
Your phone ringing in the other room caught both of your attention, both of your heads snapping in the direction of the living room.
You excused yourself from the bathroom, brushing against Rafe as you made your way to your phone. You smiled as you answered, âI swear Iâm about to leave.â
âYou better be, Iâm stressing out over here and I need my best friend ASAP!â Ashtonâs hurried voice came across the phone.
âDeep breaths, Iâm saying goodbye to Asher and then Iâm heading your way. Youâre going to do great.â You grabbed your purse as you put your phone against your ear and shoulder, sliding your sandals on at the same time.
âGive my namesake a hug and kiss for me! See you soon babe.â Ashton quickly said before hanging up. You had name your son after Ashton. You had been friends with her since you were 10 years old. You did everything together, including going to the same college. She was also there the entire time you were pregnant, taking you to every appointment and drying your tears.
You laughed before shoving your phone in your purse. Rafe had taken a spot on the couch and was trying to find a good channel to settle on. He raised his eyebrows in your direction when he saw you walking towards Asherâs room.
âIâm just going to poke my head into his room and give him a kiss. Thats all.â You shrugged nonchalantly.
Rafe snorted, âIf youâre in a hurry, I wouldnât do that. You know itâll wake him up.â
âMaybe but I have to say goodbye to my baby. And we both know youâre just as excited as him, if not more, to show him the tractor magazines.â You turned around and faced him while you talked, still walking backwards to your sonâs room.
Rafes loud laugh followed you into Asherâs room as you opened the door. The room was painted red and blue, his favorite colors due to Spider-Man being his favorite superhero. You walked over to his bed, crouching down to his height. He was laying on his stomach, his arms and legs flopped crazily. You brushed his blonde hair away from his face and kissed his cheek.
âMommy loves you so big baby.â You murmured. While he hadnât been a planned baby, he was the best thing that ever happened to you.
Asher stirred gently at your hand against his face, his bright green eyes looking up at you. He instantly started waking up, a sleepy smile forming on his face. You smirked, Rafe was going to have so much fun chasing him around the apartment.
âHi mommy,â Asher took one of his chubby hands and put it against your cheek. You turned your head and kissed the inside of his hand.
âGuess whoâs here?â
Asher shot up so fast it nearly gave you whiplash.
âDaddy?!â
Before you could reply, Asher was running out of the room. You heard Rafe grunt from the living room while you started making your way back to them. When you got to the living room, you saw Rafe being smothered in a bear hug by Asher. Rafe just gave you a look that said, âI told you soâ while hugging Asher back.
âAlright Iâm heading out now. Be good for daddy, Asher.â You blew Asher a kiss from the front door.
Rafe and Asher stopped what they were doing and looked your way. Rafe had a slight blush to his cheeks he was praying you couldnât see and Asher was scrambling off the couch to get to you.
Asher barreled into your leg, âBye Mommy!â
You ruffled his hair and hugged him back as best you could while he was hanging onto your leg, âSee you later, baby.â
You sent Rafe a smirk. Asher was awake and full of energy now, he was going to have his hands full.
âGood luck.â You glanced at Rafe while he gave you a flat look. You laughed while you double checked one last time to make sure you had everything and stepped out the door.

SYPNOSIS ; g/n reader x sparring partner! bakugou, fluff, not proofread .. matching bracelets , enjoy ! xoxo, jord .á
A/N; this was supposed to be a lil drabble but this came out longer than i intended .. anywaayss. I PROOOMISEEE im gonna start posting more iâve disappeared for sosososso long.. in the meanwhile take this, luv u guys !!!!!
sparring partner! bakugou that swears he only bugs you 24/7 to âget your ass to training groundsâ because you need to improve. no other reason because of course, he cant stand you.. or anything about you, for that matter.
so no, it doesnt âmeanâ anything when sparring partner! bakugou comes up from behind you to, âfixâ your form. adjusting you by signaling you to rotate to the side by giving your hips a little push, nudging your elbows up so your face is protected by your hands.
sparring partner! bakugou who always insists to be near you, discreetly, if he can. because he obviously doesnt want it to seem like he cares, because he doesnt. even during training or maybe even an attack on the school? near you. covering you and making sure warn you of the sneak attacks from behind you.
and even though you practically hate sparring with him, because hes so damn ruthless, ensuring a trip to recovery girl by the end of it, its weirdly the highlight of your days. hearing the ding! of your phone, followed by the usual message from him.
: training grounds. 5 mins
even when its five in the goddamn morning. you never fail to meet him there.
and after a small while of this cycle, you make the (probably) safe assumption you guys are, friends? acquaintances?..hell, maybe you were even on kirishimaâs level of âfriendâ. toleratable? at the least.
so while on one of your free days afterschool, youre shopping with the bakusquad. mina, jirou, denki, sero, kirishima, and obviously, bakugou. god knows how they convinced him to tag along.. you get lost in a cute little merch store, spotting matching all might bracelets. ew, corny. who would even get those?
caâching! âaaand heres your change, have a nice day!â
you would.
though, you probably shouldve thought this out.. who were you gonna match with? ofcourse, it could always be mina, but she also didnt absolutely fixate on all might. but, there was, one person you had in mind..
and sometime in the week after the hangout, at the end of yourâno less than brutal, training session, you tiredly brought it up.
âthe other dayâwhile we were at the mall, i saw these matching all might braceletsââ pant, âi kinda just bought on it on sight, annnd i didnt really think of who to give the other half to before i did.. but i know you like him, so..â
you trail off, simply suggesting it as you move over to sit down on a bench, taking a drink of water, while also, pulling out the bracelets from your pockets and reaching your free hand up to show him.
sparring partner! bakugou scoffs upon seeing the bracelets in your hand. golden age and bronze age all might bracelets.
âthats stupid. im not wearing that shit.â he growls, crossing his arms. his voice a little panted from training. you were getting better. not that he would tell you that directly, of course.
âchill, dynamight.â you roll your eyes playfully, emphasizing his hero name on your tongue. âi was just suggesting it, if you dont want it its fine.â you explain casually. even if, the sentence did hurt your feelings a little.
âill just give it to izuku.â you shrug, you guys were friends, pretty close if you did say so.
and you almost swear you saw bakugouâs eye twitch. a glint of, jealousy? in his eyes as you bring up the green haired boyâs name.
he lets out an amused huff, rolling his eyes. âtch. whatever, give it to that nerd. not like i care.â before he reaches down next to you for your water bottle, taking a swing, airsip.
setting the bottle back down next to your thigh, he speaks up again. ââaight, hurry, we arent done. round two.â he adds harshly, motioning with his hand for you to get back up.
âcome on. please? one more minute. its so eaarlyyy.â you whine, almost pouty as you throw your head back. still exhausted from the sparring just a few minutes ago. 6am and hes annoyingly productive.
âhurry or i can blast your ass right here.â he glares down at you, grumbling through gritted teeth.
âim getting uupp, geeez.â you groan, lazily getting up from the bench and almost coming up to meet his full height.
later in the day, during class training, you figure you should probably find izuku to give him the other matching half, one already on your wrist.
you couldve sworn you remembered putting it back onto your other wrist so you wouldnt lose it. maybe it was in your dorm instead? whatever, youd just have to give it to him tomorrow.
today, you were working in partners, testing out new possible moves, strengths, weaknesses, and overall just trying to improve on any weak spots.
and like always, sparring partner! bakugou was next to you. basically having claimed you as his designated partner for anything by now, glaring at anyone who even suggested you work with them and not him.
and as your throwing hits at him, trying to catch him off base with your quirk, you notice a glint coming from under his gauntlet, you pause a moment.
its the matching half of your bracelet, all mightâs golden age bracelet.
he notices this. feeling his ears dust the slightest pink from, embarrassment? and he uses this moment of weakness to gain the upper hand, pinning you down on the floor.
and youre completely shocked by the sudden move. somehow flipped on your chest to the ground, arms tucked behind your back with his knee holding you down.
âstay focused.â he hisses, reprimanding you for your bad habit.
âthought you said it was stupid?â you mutter. tilting your head to the side ever so slightly to look at him. a sly, cheeky smirk on your face.
âit is.â
maybe it wasnt so stupid after all.

ጠOf Love and LoyaltyáŚ
One-Shot
+18
<Part 1> <Part 3: final>
Pairings: Oz "The Penguin" Cobb x Reader
Reader takes Victor's place in this story. She and Oz have developed a relationship of sorts and now she changed based on her circumstances and everything she has around her. Reader is a young girl infatuated with a man decades older than her- who is also very dangerous and powerful (Í â ÍĘÍ â)đ Oz's mom is actually dead in this story. I will write a third and final part to this after the last episode. Everyone in this story is 18+ and consenting 100%.
Enjoy, give some feedback if you want. (>âżâ )â
Warnings: violence, age-gap relationship, smut(ÂŹâżÂŹ)
You finally made something of yourself. Sure it was all blood money, but you did- you did what you had to do to survive and not only that, to thrive.Â
Before leaving he told you to get in the car while he talked to Sofia outside, when you got back he was on his knees- a gun pointed at his face. You acted on impulse and drove the car into one of the guys there; best thing you couldâve done at the moment he told you.
You would think that planning to escape would distance you from him but it did the opposite- even after wrecking his car, that poor gorgeous car; youâve never been in one as fancy before- let alone drive it. Â
âIâm so-sorry about your car.â you said as you stared at it in flames.Â
âYeah- what're ya gonna do 'bout it- only the good die young.â he came closer to you and grabbed the back of your head- forcing you to look at him. âDonât be sad about it- youâre worth a thousand more to me.âÂ
He told you that you two were âreally in it nowâ- and he couldnât have been more right about that.
He got the Bliss operation back from the Maroni family by burning the mother and the heir apparent to their family- together. His brutality frightened you but If he wanted to rule the mob- he had to be brutal and unwavering in his choices, at least thatâs what you told yourself to justify what he had done. Now not only Sofia Gigante was after you, but also Sal Maroni.
In the weeks following you had your own operation- underground, in a sewer system that connected you to all of Gotham, you became Ozâs eyes and ears above ground, traveling on your motorcycle- giving him news about the world above and delivering his money directly in his hands. He had given you your own gunâ"just in case someone messes with you"âthough you never ended up using it.
Oz trusted you, even after your attempt at an escape- he moved you two to an apartment on the East Side, one that reminded you of your old one; without electricity but it did its job. In the apartment you got very close to him, you got to know him much better and you changed too in the meantime, you were more confident- more sure of yourself next to him.Â
He was all you had, the one person who made you feel like you were the center of his world. One night- he came "home" late, as he often did. You were already in bed, curled up and trying to stay warm when you felt the familiar weight of his body sinking into the mattress. He slid under the covers and pulled you close, and you sighed, finally feeling the warmth and comfort of his embrace.
"The people in charge really donât give a fuck about us," you murmured, exhaustion lacing your voice. It was a tired frustrationâbeing cold at work and now being cold at home. Winter was coming, and your mind drifted to families with children who needed warmth.
He took a deep breath. The long days weighed heavily on him; managing his people and the constant stress left him drained. Most nights, he would grab a bite, and as soon as his head hit the pillow, cold or not, heâd fall into a deep sleep. Youâd take advantage of those moments, cuddling close and pulling his heavy arm over you. Oswald slept like a rock.
"Iâll do something about it," he said, his deep voice vibrating through you. In the weeks youâd been together, youâd learned how to speak to him, how to make him feel powerfulâyour man, your only one. He was the only man who had ever made you feel this way, and you couldnât deny the rush you felt watching him command respect when he barked out orders to his men, a cigar perched between his lips. God, he was handsome. Your stomach would flutter every time you caught a glimpse of him, even if only for a second.
He was a towering presence, terrifying when he loomed over you, and seeing him angry was enough to scare you senseless. But it also sets your heart racing for other reasons too.
Before the club, his gaze never strayed from you; now, it was his hands that constantly sought you. He couldn't help himself when you were close, sometimes grabbing you in public like an eager kid in a candy shop. You learned that when he called you into his "office," it meant he was either seething with anger or burning with desireâeither way, you knew heâd end up taking it out on you.Â
Heâd told you more than once that he hadnât felt this alive in years, and you could sense the shift in everything he didâfrom the way he spoke to the intensity in the way he fucked you. He had changed.
You told him about Squid- about how he came up to you today- asking you where you got your clothes- âwhat shit you got cookingâ - Oz asked you if it was going to be a problem, you told him no; he could count on you- you wonât let him down.
âYou know, I think youâre the only thing keeping me good, doll.â he traced circles on your arm. If you were keeping him good, what was Oz like when bad? The thought sent a shiver down your spine.
You felt his hands traveling under the blanket and beneath the sweater and t-shirt you had on and you proceeded to hiss once they made contact with your skin âyour hands are so coldâ you said and he chuckled.
The next day, you made true to your promise and met up with Squid- you had a plan, of course you did, you would give him some money and hope he would leave you alone.
Of course the dumb bastard declined the money- of course he tried to intimidate you to âbring him to the big manâ or else he was gonna go to the Maronis or Falcones- maybe they would help him; the fuck was he thinking? That a small-time asshole like him could make a deal with Oz?Â
So many thoughts were running through your head, what if you did bring him to Oz? You didnât want to bother him, he had enough stuff he had to worry about- plus the things Oz would do to him were too graphic to think about. What if you ran? No, he would catch you- probably beat the shit out of you too. Shit.
âOk, Iâll take you to him.â you said as you were going down the steps, him following. Fuck-fuck you had to shoot him, this motherfucker was going to ruin whatever you had going on.
You had to shoot him, no other time better than now- your pistol was in the front of your jeans. Do it now. You grabbed your gun from your pants and before you knew it, you turned around and pulled the trigger.Â
When you opened your eyes, Squid was gripping his throat- blood was coming out in buckets- he stared at you and your shocked face. Neither of you believing what you just did. Your breathing was becoming heavier and heavier- almost gasping for breath- you just shot someone- he was going to die.Â
Oh god, he was dying. You watched as the light drained from his eyes and you didnât want to stick around to see him pass so you ran- you ran to your motorcycle and then you drove above the speed limit, probably breaking a few laws too until you got underground.
He was probably dead by now- you just killed him. You never realized that you were crying as well; you ran to his office and thanked the lord that no one was around to see you.Â
You opened the door and there he was, wearing a well tailored shirt and a vest- writing something down- money next to him. He quickly looked up as he heard you come in and then dropped his head down to continue what he was writting âWell look who decided to pay me a visitâ, he muttered with a smirk; you tried to control your sobs and when he heard the shallow breath you took to steady yourself- he looked up again âThe fuck happened?â he immediately got up and went towards you.
You told him what happened between sobs as he held you on his lap, seated in his chair. You told him everything; about Squid- how he threatened to go to the Falcones or the Maronis- how you knew you had no choice and while leaning back he told you that it will get easier, this isnât the end of the world.
âYou wanna know something?â He grabbed your face and made you look at him âYou did what was right, you protected yourself, what you have. No one can take that from you- Iâm proud of you.â Your sad demeanor was gone by now and replaced with the familiar warmth you had whenever he said something like this.
He kissed you and brought your body and embraced you âYouâve grown so much in these weeks, youâre no longer the kid that used to sneak around buildings-â you kissed him, bringing his lower lip between your lips. You wanted to forget- forget what happened and what you did- he always made you forget all your worries, you only ever thought about him when you were in his presence. He put his arm beneath both of your legs as you were sitting and you almost yelped when he got you on his desk.
âOz-â Ok, maybe getting him started wasnât the best idea, whenever you got him going he would forget about the windows in his office or the fact that someone might hear you.
You tried to bring one of your legs between the two of you, trying to stop him â-Oz, when we are homeâ you tried to reason with the man, even if getting fucked in his office would turn you on in the worst ways and you would be lying if you said that you werenât getting wet already.
He loved the power he would hold over you- whenever he would manhandle you in any position he would like or whenever he would order you to do something- you couldnât lie, you liked it too; sometimes he would have you suck his cock as he solved the men's pay, sometimes he would have you on all fours on his bed- Oz was a man that loved to be in control, to be number one- the best. You knew that.Â
He was already getting your jacket off, âOz-â he grabbed the money from the table and placed it away from you two, before getting back to kissing and groping you.
He grabbed hold of your clothed pussy and from the feeling of his hand there- you raised your butt slightly up and pushed back into him.
This relationship that you two had, it made you feel like a woman- it was so different than the one you had with Robert, where it was just light touches on your face and small kisses- Oswald was a man, whenever he wanted you, he would have you and it made you feel as if you were wanted and desired- it made you feel alive.
He stopped and you knew someone was probably at the door. Shit- this is so embarrassing, you looked down and without making eye contact, went into the small room connecting to his office- he had a bed there, a small one; not big enough for two people to sleep comfortably but it was something. It was also way more warm in here than outside where everyone else was working.Â
You took your sweater off and sat on the bed, while listening to what he was saying to the guy that came in, something about the meeting he had and a surprise. You had to ask him about that, but after he was done with you.
Your heart was beating out of your ches- the door opened.Â
He looked at you and made small steps towards the bed, you were smiling while scooting back- with butterflies dancing in your stomach; wondering what he was gonna do next when he grabbed both of your legs and placed them on either side of him before joining you on the bed- on top of you.
One of his hands immediately went to your ass, giving him easier access to rubbing himself over you and the other one was supporting him.
You wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him even closer as your lips met his. Despite the darkness and heaviness of the moment, he still radiated a magnetic presenceâfull of charisma as ever, his scent enveloping you in a way that made everything else fade. From the sharpness of his aftershave to the depth of his cologne, he had it all. He started pushing himself even harder against you, where it was almost painful; you moaned in his mouth and against his tongue.Â
He raised himself on his knees on the bed, casting a shadow over you and ordered you to take your jeans off and get on all fours while he was taking his vest off and unbuttoning his dress shirt. Your hands were shaking a little bit as you unbuttoned your pants and took them off.
After you obeyed him and raised your butt in the air, he grabbed hold of it- to angle you how he wanted; excitement so palpable you couldnât help but smile to yourself, almost laughing. You felt him slowly enter you, giving you a few small moments to adjust to his size- you closed your eyes and moaned, you donât think youâre ever gonna get enough of this man; all of him.
âOh baby-â he was always so vocal during sex.Â
The feeling of him stretching you out and the feeling of him pushing himself in you in and out- whenever he would press himself back in, he brushed up against your g-spot- the sound of his body when it connected to yours was so loud- it made your cheeks burn- you were so wet and he didnât even touch you all that much, like that night at the club. He had a gun under your chin and you were so wet, who even were you anymore?
You arched your back, consciously making yourself as pleasing as possible for him. The act itself sent a thrill through you, but it also made your cheeks flush with a mix of desire and shy uncertainty- the usual girlhood embarrassment that flushed your cheeks overtaking your body whenever he had you like this.Â
When he found his rhythm- while grabbing your waist and pushing you back into him, heâd shower you with praise. âYou take me so well⌠youâre such a good girlâmy good girl.â He knew exactly how to make your stomach flip with words like thatâthis old dog.Â
He pulled you back against him time and time again before you felt like it was almost painful, your moans of pleasure mixing with those of pain.
He pulled himself out and got on his back next to you, âCome âereâ you giggled in excitement- he loved whenever you rode him.
You squatted over him- your legs on either side of his body and with one of your hands- you brought his cock between your legs and you watched closely as his stupid grin was wiped from his face when you lowered down on him, mouth open- you gave him a quick peck on his lips. Your legs were almost shaking and a thin layer of sweat covered his forehead.Â
From this position you could feel him so deep inside- you started to grind yourself on him- it felt so good; you almost started crying again.Â
Oz grabbed your tits from underneath your shirt and was slowly pushing himself deeper in you âYouâre my girl- Iâm so proud-â he groaned as he said that, this mountain of a man- beneath you, between your thighs; you felt like you held the power â-Iâm so proud of you.âÂ
From this position you could feel him brushing against your clit, the feeling only making you go faster, the thrill of reaching your peak on him taking over âeasyâŚeasyâ he repeated- obviously, you didn't listen.Â
You shifted the tempo, lifting yourself up before sliding back down, causing him to grimace. Without missing a beat, he pulled your upper body down, pressing you flush against him- you pressed your face against his shoulder and he grabbed it- holding it there; the cold feeling of his rings compared to how hot your face was giving you goosebumps.
You felt him adjust his legs and from this position he started to fuck you how he wanted to. He thrived on being in charge, practically reveled in the power it gave him. God, your throat was dry- you were sure you would be sore down there after you two were done.
You knew anyone walking by could 100% hear you at this point, you tried to be quiet but to no avail with this man. Oz seemed to like whenever people would stare at the two of you and it excited him to think anyone would be listening in.
You brought your face up when he slowed down and kissed him, putting your tongue in his mouth. This felt so amazing but you knew he probably had places he had to be. âDo I make you feel good baby?â you nodded, leaning in to press a gentle kiss to the right side of his face, right on the thick scar that ran from his mouth to his cheekbone.
He was a strikingly intimidating man, his features hardened by a life of danger. You slowly brought yourself down and up- trying to match his movements.Â
âYou get so tight around me-â he placed his arm over you, bringing you as tight as he could on him.Â
One of your hands went under the pillow he had under his head and the other was gripping the side of the bed. His rhythm was becoming sloopy- switching between fucking you and kissing you, on your cheeks or on your mouth; he grabbed your ass in both of his hands, squeezing and pushing you down on him while he fucked you.Â
You looked in his eyes, the light from above casting a shadow over them that only added to his allure. â-Iâm gonna cumâ you nodded again- words escaping you âTell me where-tell meâ he closed his eyes- you knew he would start with that, the only way he finished was inside you.Â
Whether it was your mouth or your pussy. Oz loved when you would describe how he felt in you, how you loved when he would fuck you- how you wanted him to cum in you. It turned him on. It turned him on how embarrassed you would feel most of the time he made you say those things.
You told him you wanted it inside and It wasnât long before he started his fast pace again and you closed your eyes, trying not to moan as loud as you would like- fuck he felt so good. It mustn't have been long before you felt him slow down and the familiar feeling of his cock pulsing inside of you. You had to drink some water- your throat was hurting. Oz hugged you close to him and while one of his hands was rubbing your back he kissed your forehead- âYou feeling better?â.

Can't stop thinking about the scene where Wade takes Weasel to the strip club, and he's like, "How do you know she's here?"
Wade just says, "Cause i'm CONSTANTLY stalking that FOX," like damn, bro was NOT letting that kittycat get away from him that easily.
This leads me to also believe that he's so good at his job that he scopes out spots BEFORE the date of the mission.
That he would be a GREAT spy in the sense that not only can he hide his true emotions extremlt well so he wouldn't be amazing at devils advocate but this fucker is light on his feet. He's 6 foot 2 and still blends into the background when needed, and in the spotlight when he wants to be.
We all know that he couldn't sneak up on Logan since Logan has a wicked sense of smell, but I feel like if Wade ever had to give up Merc work (A COUGH COUGH COUGH like loosing his powers for what ever reason totally not foreshadowing COUGH COUGH COUGH damn I really gotta stop sucking dick so much-) he would be EXCELLENT at Narc work.
The only thing is he SUUUCCCKKKSS (literally and physically) at working for authority figures, so he would probably take up personal private detective cases. Snap pictures of people cheating, get a guy to confess to a crime on recording for a lawsuit, Track down missing persons probably.
But he would be bored. He would be incredibly bored. And a bored Wade is not a happy one. Infact a bored Wade is a DANGEROUS one. He NEEDS a job. A physical job. One that has strict end and strict beginings in which he can do quickly to get that rush of dopamine.
Stake outs that take 2 weeks is not a thrill.
Going to Japan and taking out the entire Yukuza IS infact a thrill. Job? Kill all of them. Done. Compelte.
He would need one that doesn't require blurred lines of completion. He thought that cars salesmen would be easy. You sell a car. You get paid. You go home. Boom. But no. Its more bullshit about being good at talking to civillians. Something he's not good at.
So- my question is.
What is a good job for Wade if he was forced out of merc work? Perhaps one he could do with Logan?
