Let me start with: nobody does it like Key.

I don't fully know how to articulate what I mean by that, and that in and of itself, says something to me.

Pleasure Shop

The rap. Now, I know very little about rap, but this is good, I can feel it.

The melodic way in which he performs it, melds perfectly with the rest of the song.

Where a lot of times in kpop it feels like rap verses have a "break for rap" if you will, which is not bad, mind you; this one feels like it has been built up to slowly, and it fades back into the song in such a way that it doesn't stand out even if it feels like a highlight.

But I love the way I didn't realize we got to the rap section of the song till midway through it, and it's a long section, too.

Following Tongue Tied with this, just... I wanna scream into my fist, it's so good. Really loopable.

The way that every section smoothly moves into the next is so nice, and even though the beat is very repetitive, it has enough variation throughout that it does not get boring or annoying.

Next, this is more about the mv but the fact that the dancers were highlighted instead of bringing in models or actors... my heart (⁠｡⁠ﾉ⁠ω⁠＼⁠｡⁠)

Since we are talking about the mv, the concept is so good, I might try to do a breakdown for the mv later.

Overthink

I can't wait to see a performance of this, I know I can watch fancams, but I haven't watched one yet.

I love that little synth... arpeggio? riff? over the bass, wish it was longer though, I feel like it could have another minute or so.

The way he uses different contrasting tones for different parts of the song is just so charming, and just gives the song such a trippy kind of feel, that, and that wubby bass and the synth.

Golden

This sounds so sweet and bright, truly has a golden hour type of feel. I always look forward to that warm tone he uses for songs like this; like Sunny Side, it has this comforting effect on me that I can't quite describe.

The percussion really catches my ear on this one, I feel like it has a lot of variation, all in all, really nice.

I Know

His vocals really are the focus of this one, it's similar to Overthink, but it's stripped down, I think.

I really like how it moves back and forth from lower tones to higher ones, and how his vocals are contrasting to the backing track. Like at parts the instrumental goes low, and the vocal line goes high, and vice versa and then meet again.

Going Up

This might be my favourite, the one I was most excited for from the highlight clip, and it did not disappoint.

I am addicted to his lower register. And paired with the shifts into falsetto for the "we're going up" *chef's kiss*

It has that sort of spacious, dark feeling that's hypnotic, for lack of a better word. Like it's pulling me somewhere, don't know where, but I wanna live in it.

The bass and synth, actually, not just in this but in all the album, but specially on this one, are just on point. I really love the soundscape. It scratches my brain in all the right ways.

Having said that, I think this is going to be a running complaint on my part (and I know I'm not alone on this) but, it's too short.

I want another two minutes of this song.

Novacaine

I really like the lyrics, it won't take Helium's crown for my fave eng Key song or second place from Imagine, but it's a good song.

The title makes me think of FOB, but I like this one more that I like theirs? Although this one is misspelled

If I have to compare it to the only other Lauv song I have ever heard, which is Lay's Run Back to You (and I like that one), I like Novacaine better. Don't know if it is Key's input or what, but there is something that I feel only he could do. I love the way he delivers the lines.

I wonder if the lyrics were written for him specifically, or with him in mind, because it's very Key? Like thematically it reminds me a bit of G.O.A.T., and has that melancholic, nostalgic feel of This Life.

Like in Golden, his vocals have that warm, deep quality to them, but this one is sadder, like a misery loves company kind of thing; Finding comfort in knowing you are not the only one that feels this way.

Reminds me a bit of Hold On too, don't ask me why cause idk.

I love that he is embracing his natural tone a lot more in this album and in Tongue Tied, and the way he is using it as the building block for the songs and using the higher and lower tones, and falsetto as embellishments. It makes his sound so much more distinct and unique.

It feels like he has honed in the finer details of his style.

Also I love how all the songs flow into the next, it's really nice.

Touring has done wonders for his vocals too, I feel like he levelled up for this album.

His vocals were good to begin with, but he has this richness to his sound now that comes through so much more, his voice feels a lot fuller even in the recording.

I was so fascinated watching fancams from the first Keyland On: and On and just how much better he got by this last one. Truly, he is meant to do live performances.

I hope I can see him live one day, same for the rest of SHINee hehe

If there is one thing I can say about Key's solo discography, aside from he doesn't miss (which ofc he's SHINee); Is that he has such a coherent evolution from era to era, from album to album, there is always a nod to past releases, a thread through sound and the fact that he is including his JP discography on that thread. Tongue Tied just fits perfectly with this.

I'm always really excited to see where he goes with every new release, and he hasn't disappointed me so far, this is no different💖💖💖💖💖

Imagine me being kind of disappointed that it’s another english song from jk when i watched the mv😅 it feels like his most promoted songs since last year has been all eng song… idk i wanted & expted something diff… i didnt like l&r, dreamers and now 7… it’s back to back lol. Tbf i didnt like My You too and thats in korean. At least not enough to listen!again after the first listen.

All the hype didn't matched with the song

1. rest members songs had so much depth and substance to it while this was the cliche boy chasing a girl song. Like we always dont need deep songs but the quality could be so much better. This was like just another pop song.

I think I'll put this on same level as BAD DECISIONS. But for bad decisions, atleast the chorus was staying on my mind while for this nothing was catchy enough for us to humm. Just because it's JK it will get hype but otherwise it's so generic. I think I liked LEFT and RIGHT way better than Seven. Even the rap portion felt so unnecessary and boring.

2. MV was kinda nice because of the production but concept was too shallow, the stalking and chasing was so outdated. In my country we have like 9293928843837 MVs in this same concept that not many make the same theme songs again.

3. The choreography. We haven't seen the full version. But for tiktok they do the highlight portions if that's so mediocre idk how rest will be. It was again giving the same mediocre showing off choreography and for me backdancers ruined it with their awkward moves.

4. they wanted this song to be played everywhere around the world. But there was nothing catchy enough to attract gp or go viral on tiktok, even if we sped it up. The only way to make everyone listen is to shove it down their throat but doing payola. But idk if investing in payola is worthy for the song. I also doubt the longietivity, as for me it was boring after 2 listens. I'll rather listen Like Crazy or wildflower or closer 20 times than listening this once.

5. I HOPE he'll bring something fresh to the table for his album and don't involve this mediocre producers who uses the same formula and same superstar persona to make a song successful. He is so much talented to sing a song which is so rich in melody and lyrics. And he can produce way better songs by himself.

Prolly a 4/10 for me

I don't mean that in a 'I expect the things JK to make to be gay' way just in the way it's a fun, very danceable, sexy summer song that doesn't pull its punches. BTS has made songs explicitly referring to sex before (though it's been mostly the rapline doing so). So it's nothing new but I guess it's cool JK gets to share with us that he too has sex.

I really need to know who is doing A&R for BigHit in America because they’ve been doing an appalling job lately. I'm starting to wonder if it's an inside job cause this song is kinda ass.”

I didn’t like the song.

I’ve streamed Seven about 20 times since then I think, took a break from the song for a few hours, watched his GMA performance, caught a few minutes of the Wlive, then listened to it again just before writing this post and…

I still don’t like it.

Jungkook did a good job on the song, Latto's verse wasn't terrible, and while the song itself isn’t bad… the song isn’t good either.

It’s painfully, and at this point it’s a pattern so I have to add, predictably, mediocre.

Reserving judgement for the album, but Anons, I agree with you for the most part. The suits at BigHit are trying but they are woefully out of touch with the reasons BTS blew up in the West in the first place. I don't even feel like spending any energy doing a review or even trying to explain what I mean. So I'll just ramble on for a bit but try to keep it brief.

I have to give BigHit some credit because I can see what they're going for here. Andrew Watt is a very celebrated producer in the US, he won the Grammy award for Producer of the Year in 2021, he's got A listers in his portfolio. So, he's not a cheap name to book and I can see why the suits at BigHit thought he's the genius to gift them a song clinically designed for American radio.

But that pandejo phoned it in. There isn't a lick of creativity to be found anywhere in all 3 minutes and five seconds.

It reminds me of VIBE by Jimin and Taeyang, as the closest analog to the vague dissatisfaction morphing into annoyance and then pragmatic rationalization I experienced in that same sequence when listening to it the first few times.

The song is disappointing because we've all heard it before. Too many times, and we're bored of it. We've heard JK sing this sort of song for years, as covers mostly. So on one hand, while I guess it's nice JK gets to have an American summer JB-reject pop tune of his own, it's not good enough to be the track that introduces him to the world as a solo artist.

It's fine for any white, blonde, blue-eyed heartthrob that can ride on a pretty face and implicit bias to rack up accolades, it's not good enough for Jungkook.

And BigHit needs to start using whatever leverage a US$10.6 billion market capitalization buys you in Hollywood, to insist for songs that are at least as good as the songs made by BTS members and produced by their in-house team. It's a waste of money and everybody's time to fly a battalion to LA just to record 2014's summer hit in 2023.

All that said, I can't ignore JK has a taste for songs like this, and it's not his fault the song is shit (he didn't write, compose or produce it), so technically he shouldn't be punished for it. And the song is made for radio, while it's not my personal taste a lot of people really like the song (one of my friends likes Seven the most out of all the BTS releases so far), and it will catch on with some support. So, ARMY will support it including me, just to a lesser degree than I've done so far. Fingers crossed JJK1 has something solid on it.

Deep Cover and YONAH spoilers!

First impressions time! (Looking at this translation for Deep Cover, this one for YONAH). Btw I actually haven't listened to Deep Cover yet because it's not out in my time-zone rip.

Add plagiarism to the list of crimes committed by Milgram prisoners lol. I actually love the Undercover callback it's fantastic! And the diss track? Eminem got nothing on wolf girl over here.

But this does raise the question of how much she actually knows about the murders. Like, she talks about very specific things such as Shidou being a "priceless stealer", so she has to know something. I saw someone bring up she may have been spying on all the interrogations, and I have to assume that's the case because how else would that happen.

I'm really interested in the fact Kotoko seems to want everyone to be Unforgiven, though.

Which one do you pick? I want unforgiven

And the fact at the end she lists all the T1 innos and insults them, as if she wants them to be Unforgiven too. Like, I get it, she enjoys feeling like she's dealing out justice, but what. I hope the MV clarifies a bit more because right now she just sounds unhinged. Which is fun! I like characters who are just unrepentantly evil. But I get the feeling there's something more going on. We already know some of her motivations from HARROW, but you have to wonder if they've evolved in some way during her time in Milgram.

Speaking of the MV, my prediction is not only that the other prisoners are gonna be there, which I have to assume will happen-

You wanna know the wildest prediction I have for the MV? (Which is most likely going to be wrong don't get too excited) It think every prisoner's crime will be related to one of the crimes we saw in HARROW, and perhaps others we'll get introduced to in Deep Cover.

Probably the guy that stole a bunch of luxury bikes, since it fits the idea of stealing from a lot of people.

Either Mikio Oshii (the guy from the alleway), who pretended to be a bank employee to steal money, or the "It's me" scammers, who called people, pretended to be a family member and asked for money.

I'm not sure about the rest of them. Again, that's just a silly prediction, I'm not expecting it to happen, I'm just putting it out there because if it does happen I will feel like a God lol.

About YONAH, I'm slightly disappointed we didn't get much about Kotoko herself, but it's still really good! I think it's fun that she sorta encouraged Es to Forgive at the end of TASK and now she's like "yo your weak-ass needs to stop forgiving people."

But I do want to say, I'm surprised at the amount of people who are shocked Kotoko wanted to attack Amane. Like, we even had that one timeline conversation when she said she wouldn't treat Amane differently just because she's a child. I thought we had an universal understanding that the only reason Amane wasn't attacked is because of the Kazui ceasefire and John's time-wasting fight (and out of universe, because we can't have a character dying in T1). I guess I was wrong though. Anyways, Worst Girl enjoyers are rejoicing right now. Not gonna lie, this is making me like Kotoko more and more by the second. I don't know what that says about me.

Anyways, what do you think Kotoko's percentage will look like on the day the voting opens? Not her verdict since... well. Like, I was always expecting her to Guilty sweep, but what we have so far doesn't really help her. I would not be surprised if she ends up easily beating Muu as the widest Guilty margin. Hell, do you think it can beat Shidou as the most decisive verdict in general? I think it's unlikely, since Shidou got nearly 82% inno this trial which is insane. But honestly, unless Deep Cover MV does some insane leg-work, Kotoko might get more than 82% Guilty. I think it'd be funny.

Not like I'm gonna stop it. Sorry inno truthers, I highly respect your commitment to wolf girl and fully respect the decision, but I feel like Not Forgiving her this trial would be for the best. Still, I'm open to having my mind change when the MV drops. Take care!

Twice's 10th member visits Nayeon on her solo's set

A/N: Hey guys, I'm sorry for disappearing but I got my wisdom teeth out so yeah- lol. Anyway- I got an ask on Tumblr and I loved writing it, ty anon! :D

The request: Can I request something, you know nayeon solo pop behind the scene, nayeon was so sad because 10th doesn't come because she's in hiatus, she sad but suddenly staff ask her to go out and said something 'fresh air'. She's grumpy because her favorite member is not coming and what she saw is the dancer who help her in mv but it turned out is 10th member. She suddenly feels embarrassed (nayeon) because she didn't notice her until now

Nayeon stared at her reflection in the dressing room mirror, her usually bright eyes dull with disappointment. She took a deep breath and tried to shake off the heavy feeling that had settled over her heart. Today was supposed to be a special day, the behind-the-scenes shoot for her first solo music video. But it felt incomplete without Y/N, the 10th member of TWICE, by her side.

Y/N had been on hiatus for the past few weeks due to health concerns, and Nayeon missed her presence more than she had expected. The maknae's energy, laughter, and the way she could effortlessly brighten up any room were missed a lot, especially today T-T.

As the camera crew bustled around her, adjusting lights and arranging props, Nayeon's mind kept drifting back to her kid. She wondered how her fellow member was doing and if she was feeling any better. Nayeon had always been protective of Y/N, despite the girl's unwavering independence. She felt a pang of guilt for not being able to be there for her angel during her hiatus.

At that moment, one of the staff members entered the room and snapped her out of her daydreaming.

Staff 1 - Nayeon, we're ready for your solo shots now! 

Nayeon plastered a smile on her face and walked onto the set, giving her best performance despite the absence that weighed on her heart. Hours passed, and the shoot continued. Nayeon pushed herself to focus on her performance, giving her all to every take. But every now and then, her mind would wander back to TWICE's sunshine, wondering if she was watching the live stream of the shoot or if she was resting and recovering. She deserved to rest but perhaps...

As the day wore on, Nayeon couldn't shake the melancholic feeling that had settled over her. She had been hoping to share this exciting moment with Y/N, to see her smiling face on set, cheering her on. But her babygirl's absence cast a shadow over the entire experience.

The word Cut! that the director called out signalled the end of another take. Nayeon let out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding and walked off-set, retreating to a corner of the studio. She pulled out her phone, scrolling through her messages in hopes of any news from Y/N.

 A voice called out to the eldest member and Nayeon looked up to see one of the backup dancers approaching her. 

Backup dancer - Hey, Nayeon, you did great out there!

Nayeon managed a small smile, grateful for the dancer's kind words but her soft voice betrayed her as she tried to hide her emotions. 

Nayeon - Thanks. It's just... I wish Y/N could be here.

The dancer nodded understandingly. 

Backup dancer - I heard she's getting better. Maybe she'll surprise you soon. (little does she know lol)

Nayeon sighed, her shoulders slumping. 

Nayeon - I hope so *frowns*

Just then, another staff member approached her. 

Staff 2 - Nayeon, how about you take a break? The fresh air might do you some good.

Nayeon grumbled inwardly but forced herself to nod. She walked out of the studio and into the corridor, leaning against the wall. The cool air did little to alleviate the heaviness that had settled in her chest. As she stood there, lost in her thoughts, the sound of laughter reached her ears. Nayeon frowned, recognizing the voice but not quite believing it. She turned towards the source of the sound and blinked in disbelief.

There, surrounded by a small group of staff and dancers, was Y/N, her girl. She was wearing a casual outfit, her smile radiant as she chatted animatedly with those around her. Nayeon's heart skipped a beat as she took in the sight of her younger sister, looking healthier and happier than she had expected.

Nayeon's initial shock quickly turned into a mixture of disbelief and embarrassment. How had she missed Y/N's arrival? She watched the girl's every move, feeling a warmth spread through her chest as she realized that Y/N had come to surprise her.

As if sensing Nayeon's gaze, the maknae looked up and their eyes met. For a moment, time seemed to stand still as they locked eyes. Then, Y/N's smile widened, and she excused herself from the group, walking towards Nayeon as she started talking, her voice soft yet full of warmth.

Y/N - Hey, Nayeon unnie. 

Nayeon felt her cheeks heat up, a mixture of embarrassment and joy flooding her system. 

Nayeon - Baby, you're here.

Y/N chuckled, her eyes sparkling. 

Y/N - Yeah, why wouldn't I be? Are you surprised? Lol

Nayeon nodded, a wide smile spreading across her face. 

Nayeon - More than surprised. I can't believe I didn't notice you until now! *pouts*

Y/N shrugged playfully. 

Y/N - Well, I guess I can be pretty sneaky when I want to be. And... You're old lmao

Nayeon laughed, the heaviness in her heart lifting with every second she spent in Y/N's presence even if she was being teased by her kid. 

Nayeon - You have no idea how much I've missed you, love.

TWICE's honey's gaze softened, and she stepped closer, wrapping her arms around her older sister in a gentle hug. 

Y/N - I've missed you too, unnie. But I'm here now, and I'm so proud of you!

Tears welled up in Nayeon's eyes as she hugged her youngest back, holding onto her tightly. The months of worrying and missing Y/N melted away in that embrace, replaced by a profound sense of gratitude and happiness. As they pulled back from the hug, Nayeon wiped away her tears and looked at Y/N with a teasing smile. 

Nayeon - YAH! You know, you should've warned me. I've been moping around all day.

Y/N chuckled, her eyes sparkling mischievously. 

Y/N - Where's the fun in that? Besides, seeing your reaction was totally worth it.

Nayeon shook her head in mock exasperation, her heart feeling lighter than it had in a long time. As they stood there, exchanging laughter and stories, Nayeon realized that even in her absence, Y/N had a way of brightening her world. And as they headed back to the studio, arm in arm, Nayeon knew that her solo shoot was no longer incomplete because Y/N was right there by her side and that made her have only one thought:

I love our dear maknae.

I will not lie, I'm easily bought over by cute Sonknux and Sonamy interactions (Sometimes I hate how easy I am to bait)

But I'm still a bit disappointed by the fact that Tails is once again relegated to mission control... And he's billed as "the sidekick" once again as well... (And why do they keep using such an unflattering pucture of him??)

I guess I could gloss over it because Frontiers hasn't yet happened in the idw universe, that with it starting off with Forces and MV being the last major event they had to go through (as confirmed in the special itself). But the special also has Sonic calling Tails "partner", which is a cute Frontiers reference... except Sonic calling Tails "partner" is supposed to be Sonic's direct response to finding out about Tails's problems during the events of the game and switching up the nickname to assert Tails as his equal. Having him call Tails that even before that kind of cheapens it. But whatever. Chalk it up to a badly placed reference.

And I guess this issue is the right way to utilize Tails, why shouldn't he be providing support, figuring out how to dispose of the problem while Sonic is doing the legwork and calling up the allies? (He is the support character. He is "the sidekick". I guess. But I also wish people didn't give credit to idw for not writing him as just a sidekick because this is literally how he's described in his introduction box)

But I don't know. I don't actually hate the way he's written in the special itself, it just once again reminds me that despite being probably the most often appearing character after Sonic, Tails has never gotten a story that explores him as a person? (Aside from that one Classic Special which is great! But also like. It's his anniversary special. They were basically forced to write about him and isn't that sad) Maybe a couple of panels that show that he's still a person and isn't just a magic box that fixes up robots and provides exposition, but not an actual story.

I was so excited for Kit's inclusion because wow! An antagonist forTails. We've had a bunch of evil versions for Sonic before, but for Tails? What would Tails's relationship with his evil doppelganger be? How would having one affect him? Isn't that intriguing? And the Tails & Kit first interaction fight is probably my favourite Tails scene in the entire book. But afterwards? How silly I was thinking that Kit's inclusion was meant to explore Tails as a character. No. Neither of them gives a shit about the other as soon as Sonic enters the picture. (And now that Kit is around Tails is never gonna stop getting billed as "the sidekick", we gotta parallel them or whatever) It's all about Sonic, Sonic, Sonic. Even when Tails does something cool someone (maybe even himself) has to comment on how good of a job Sonic did raising him. Sonic getting credit for everything Tails does because isn't he such an amazing big bwother.

I'm upset not because I like being a hater, but because I get hopeful but keep being disappointed. I guess I just have to accept that the people currently writing the comics don't really like or care about Tails and stop expecting anything. (And liking or disliking a character is a completely neutral thing, it's not a moral failing or anything. I'm not condemning them for it. But also he's my favourite character and I can't help it if I feel upset about it. )

Yeah this post kinda went off the rails... but this is just how I feel. Can't make anyone like my favourite character, but also can't stop myself from being upset about him being underused.

i have so much things to say for the all of the enstars announcements,,,,

ok so first EACH CIRCLES WILL HAVE A MUSIC?? pretty 5 music,,, i'm so happy even tho pretty 5 is the only circle I remember lol

now the new group. i'm not completely disappointed but I was surprised (negative) when they revealed an all child units. like, I love some of the designs (fuyume and esu) but i would like them so much more if they were adults or like. 16-19. the youngest one is TWELVE. it's just me but i just dont like young or young looking character in a media where there's mostly adults or late-teens (I dont dislike them im just have a guaranteed bad first impression towards them but i can grow to like them like I did with tori) like ok esu is 16 but he doesn't look 16😭 he shouldve looked more like aira or kohaku who ARE 15/16 (tori doesn't look 17 either but that's why I didn't liked him at first)

the general fandom seems to perform advanced calculus and astronomy in the search for her easter eggs, and it seems like they're always trying to figure out future release dates or announcements. i just find that tiresome because the theories and predictions are almost always wrong so i've just come to a place of patience, like we'll get what we get when we get it and getting myself all excited only to be disappointed is an unnecessary emotional rollercoaster.

also, the real easter eggs she puts into her work are actually.... really simple and obvious lmao

like the lover title in the ME! mv or the countless speak now references in bejeweled.

as we've seen, there are deeper things that we just cannot know until later when she tells us about them, like the entire lwymmd mv. we had no idea about the masters situation and the sb/contract dramas. we didn't know she was about to leave bmr or have her masters sold to a scum bag. the thief/vault/betrayal motifs went over our heads (or were all applied to other things like the kimye/cancelling debacle) until she told us about that. in that interview, she even told us that a lot of things won't be revealed for decades 😵‍💫

because of this (the just unable to know what it means until she tells us what it means) i don't put too much brain power into trying to decipher the tons and tons of inexplicable details in her music videos.

HOWEVER

what is so astonishing to me about her work, music and visual, is her true easter eggs - the layers and layers and layers of queer flagging.

with every new release, she puts more and more and more references to queer culture and lgbtq+ experiences into her work. and people JUST DONT SEE IT!! they either don't get it or don't want to, but it is truly astonishing how she is able to hide in plain sight and be the loudest woman this town has ever seen and scream so loud but no one hears a thing!! it almost feels like she is just trying to see how much she can get away with at this point without, like, making out with a woman for three minutes in a mv. (and if she did, i bet the antis would find a way to deny even that lol)

and if you hadn't noticed, this is a kaylor blog, and it blows my mind even more how she references karlie is some way almost every time she does anything, and even fewer people see that.

so yes, she is a mastermind, an illusionist, a king of easter eggs, more than most people even realize !

OMG THE TEASER!!!!! after the mv we got for 3D I'm so blown away 🤯🤯🤯

I have other asks pending and apologize to those anons, but I'm having a crappy day and don't have the energy to reply to anyone. I watched the teaser so I thought I should just leave my thoughts here instead of making a post about it.

I didn't like the teaser. We're back to love interests, the MJ inspired choreo is sickening to me because I despise MJ with a passion, his facial expressions, maybe because they were taken out of context, didn't fit the MV, I didn't like his some of his hairstyle choices and outfits - thought he looked a bit young and childish in some of the looks -, and I'm so tired of that kind of retro sound. Honestly, not excited at all anymore, and with the way my work has been going, my disappointment is going to turn into bitterness and escalate real fast, sorry. I'm just not in the mood for JK doing stuff I don't like. And I'm not in the mood to be positive. He can do whatever he wants, but I don't like anything about the teaser, except maybe the sleeveless vest look. I'm yet again expecting not to like the live performances. I wish he focused more on singing.

i genuinely liked tae. but to be honest, all the things happening now will make it harder for me to enjoy his new album and even jk's. i just want to enjoy music yk but I'm also not the type to ignore injustice. they're did jm dirty and they're so shameless about it

I never actually liked tae that much. I didn't have any problem with him. He was just there. But I used to love jungkook so my disappointment was much higher.

I don't know if I'm that mad at tae because technically bighit is not the one handling his album, he went to a different label, under a different person for that. So Idk if I'm actually mad about that. I just think that tae took a smart step.

While in case of jungkook and jimin, it was bighit that handled their album. And the same label treating two of their artists completely differently by giving one everything and sabotaging the other. That's what actually makes me mad.

When I realized that jimin was sabotaged while jungkook was given everything. It just made me so annoyed and angry. I was already not at all excited for jungkook's music. And then seven dropped I was like.... "Thank god I wasn't excited because I would've been so disappointed lol"

Anyways what I mean to say is I understand you. I love jimin so much so it makes it harder for me to enjoy other's music when others are given everything while jimin was denied of it.

They can't say that maybe jimin didn't wanted that. He from his own mouth said that he WANTED mvs for all songs but it was the company that denied him.

Tldr: Good song and MV. Graphics are nice but somewhat disappointed at how safe it is.

Firstly I quite like the fact that the group is only four members because if it got bigger than that I don't think that it would have any good chance at lasting because of the costs of the cg.

I've only listened to the song once whilst I watched the MV and it is in my head already. That being said I'm a bit disappointed, let me elaborate.

So even from the promotional pictures, mainly the box of Pandora's box was very aespa-esque. Which is fine, kpop is notorious for 'heavy' inspiration to put it politely so it didn't bother me but it did set the tone of what to aexpect (yes lame pun lol). For example Aespa's ae versions look like cheaper LoL K/DA models, which is jarring at times but because they aren't all of aespa it doesn't have a negative impact. Btw not saying I hate ae's, I especially love Naevis, but as I've mentioned (I think) before, I wish they had a different art direction.

I will say MAVE'S models are a lot better in every way which is refreshing. Kind of like Saejin from SUPERKIND but though his model is good it's also quite static. Then again they are a smaller company so it's understandable but overall I'm happy with the graphics.

My personal taste wishes that they looked more fantastical. Maybe bigger eyes, coloured hair and that high fantasy goes into the music too which I'll get into later. The reason why I wish it was more OTT, is because I'm extra but mainly because it can come across as a gimmick. Like they're just non tired robots doing the same thing as real people can do but are limited by their coding. Like just do the same MV but with a green screen and it might even be cooler with real people.

Anyway I don't have an issue with AI. I know the waters are muddy but I'm a gamer, and every year graphics get closer to looking human. Which is fascinating and terrifying.

But for me as long as you can tell its not real like I guess with more anime styles and etc look I'm quite happy. I think if they also had a less human look it would give more immersion to them in the fact that in 5-10 years they could look dated and not in a good way. Like with any experimental media you either have aged well or poorly. Only media with a uniqueness or charm can both be aged well and poorly at the same time. Like cult and campy content.

Now onto the song. I do like it because well it's in my head after one listen and I've been typing this just after I watched the MV! But as I've said (in a way) it's just okay. Like when I hear 'New GG AI' my mind gets excited for the future. This MV was very much now future. So it's cool and pretty but yawningly safe.

Rather than an aespa, K/DA combo, I'd have loved a Dreamcatcher, LOONA, onlyoneof combo. Dystopian, high fantasy and allure.

Still for a debut it was good even though the down dance move was way too close to black mamba for my liking. And that's the only issue I have. Like yeah of course with everything art/dance moves are not only for one group or person but you can tell when it's ahem 'heavily inspired'.

I'd also love if they grow a stronger identity than just mix of aespa and K/DA. Like K/DA is great because its has Queen Soyeon and Miyeon with other great artists and a world already built to steer their vision and on Aespa's side they have a growing world with trained idols that bring that excitement to the real stage. Both have amazing music. Mave needs to get a signature visual and sound to push them into a truly innovate group.

Still if the company can keep up with the graphics, music and potential world building if any I'm interested. As long as its not we are being hacked by a giant spider or something and buy 'our bit coins for photocards' or some nonsense haha.

Lastly if they could keep the majority or merch online that would be awesome and hopefully they are paying the voices behind the members a good salary. The cg idols wouldn't be alive without their human voices after all.

Overall a good song with a more than perfect MV, but I disliked on my first listen and it took me a while to give it a second chance. Plus, I don't like the album itself, that is the physical item.

I know it's a very recent release, but it's, in my opinion, the second best SM Town Winter song. The only thing I don't enjoy is the TaeMark rap. I want to buy the album but the shipping fees and the difficulty to find the Kangta ver. makes it complicated.

As always, Changmin never disappoints. I hesitated between Fever and this one, but Devil is so unique among this year releases, and showcases best how talented that man is. Sadly it isn't enough to be ranked higher.

One of the most awaited comeback of the year, and it was so worth it. That song is mindless fun, with beautiful women singing, and a catchy chorus I can't help but to sing.

Like the No. 2 of this list, it was an unexpected... blow, so to speak. Mind you, I don't check any GOT7-related songs, I don't like them. Not really a 2022 release, is it? Three years late, hm-hm, but I forgive him, it's great in all aspects. Too sad he didn't get to perform it though. The reason it's No. 3 is because, thanks to Kangta, I fell into a H.O.T rabbit hole (see No. 2) I still have to escape, and thanks to H.O.T, I bought a hi-fi stereo to listen to Resurrection I also bought.

JANG WOOHYUK - ECHO

That song took me by surprise. Despite being a single, I would have bought it, did it existed physical. That song makes me so emotionnal for a reason I can't explain, it's beautiful. Plus, the cut on his face is so hot.

Before going on No. 1, here are some honourable mentions : BoA's Forgive Me (the whole EP is a no-skip) ; TAEYEON's INVU (the whole album is also a no-skip) ; KIHYUN's RAIN (was in the ranking for a while, too) ; WayV's Phantom ; SM Town's Happier ; and finally, ATEEZ's Cyberpunk (aka, their best song, sadly I no longer actively listen to them and I hated Guerilla). RYEOWOOK - Hiding Words

First, I'll say this : I was excited for that comeback, even had pre-ordered the EP. Then, the highlight medley and Bluebird happened, and I cried, and cancelled my pre-order. And still. Hiding Words is the best song to come out from a suju solo, title previously owned by The Little Prince. Between the MV, the lyrics, the concept, the high notes, the way Ryeowook sings, everything stands out as perfect. No wonder that man had been my second bias (and could be again, after the SM Town concert). The more I listen to Hiding Words, the more I fall in love. Bless him.

Stray Kids ATE review

I've listened to it 3 times so my opinions are still open to change I guess but here goes

Mountains: honestly... I was a bit disappointed by the unveil and upon listening to the album a few times, it's still only just "okay" to me. It's just kind of...boring? It has SKZ's sound but its just... meh for me. Honestly I feel this way about a good chunk of the IN Life album too, for example, so I'm kinda glad I got into skz later on. This seems to be a very unpopular opinion from what I've seen but oh well lol. But I do get what SKZ is saying when they they can picture fans chanting lines from it.

Chk Chk Boom: It's a bop; the MV is great and it's catchy as heck. However, I will say that personally it doesn't hit as hard as LALALALA or S-Class. I think I didn't want to admit that as first because of course I always want to hype new albums up as much as possible but I think that's the truth I've come to.

JJAM: I loooove this one. I love it's playfulness and how the song breaks down the subunits or the rachas as we call them. I didn't hear the squelch sound effect until my very last listen though and I feel like that was kinda unnecessary lmaoooo but oh well

I Like It: My fave song on the album tbh. I like that it has kind of the more mainstream sound they mentioned that they played with but kind of backed off from in the intro video. But also it has that like very odd/spooky instrument that gives it those "off vibes" so it is like kinda the musical representation of the red flags the lyrics are giving off LOL. I'm with IN on this one; I totally don't see why people would enjoy situationships but this song is enjoyable as hell for sure.

Runners: The aussie bros wrote this song so I feel like I'm biased right off the bat for that [also the fact that you know the song is 100% English and I don't have to search for lyrics]. The pre-chorus has my entire heart; both in terms of sound and the lyrics themselves.

Twilight: such an unexpected song!!! What a smooth, classic listen. Everybody's vocals shine and it's just another masterpiece by Han.

Stray Kids: so I've only been a Stay since late 2022, but I've watched the survival show & Kingdom & a fair ton of other content. Obviously there's still a lot that I've missed, but this song still makes me emotional regardless. I'm so excited that I've joined this journey with them and I can't wait to see where they go from here. Also it was mentioned that this could be a closing song at concerts during the intro video and I think that would be perfect.

Chk Chk Boom (Festival Ver): tbh I think it would be more fair to call this a club remix or something like that cuz lolol. It will definitely get people hyped. Also, as a nerd, I feel the need to mention part of the song reminds me of some parts of NEO: TWEWY's soundtrack but that's just me.

my thoughts on the comeback- you had me at HELLO, 3rd Mini album: ♡

first of all, this was my first comeback with zerobaseone as a zerose so it is really meaningful for me. it's been YEARS since i was this excited for a comeback🤍

the album exceeded my expectations overall and im really really happy.

happy for 2 reasons: 2 hours before the comeback, my high school result came out and i score 91% which is a big thing for me considering i gave my exams all laid back and without putting in efforts. the result came out very unexpectedly and i had to be at school for interviews and all that nonsense😭

basically i couldn't watch the comeback LIVE. and im SO MAD ABOUT IT. i did watch a snippet of the mv while it was being live streamed.

but i had to wait for about 3 hours to finally be able to listen to feel the pop🥹 as soon as i went with my friends to the restaurant in order to celebrate our good result, i listened to solar power AND I WANTED TO SCREAM DAMN. i needed time to process it so i didn't listen to dear eclipse then and there itself.

once i reached home, i FINALLY got to listen to the entire album and as expected dear eclipse blew my mind- my boys have such a wonderful taste. also it reminded me of wayv bsides?😭 like idk SOMETHING ABOUT IT???

anyways, while trying to listen to sunday ride, i was so irritated because my relatives kept CALLING ME CONTINUOUSLY to ask for my result and plus factor- i forgot my laptop at my mother's place so i had to use an old windows 7 laptop to stream the music video so it kept lagging😭

truthfully, i have still not watched the music video carefully because there's a lot going on and im busy streaming the music video through my laptop and the album on my phone.

after listening to the albums for a lot of time, this is my personal ranking:

im just disappointed with the melody of hello slightly?😭 tbh i was expecting for it to be like good night, even from the medley but it was far from it.

i havent gone through the lyrics yet, so this one is simply based off of its melody and tune.

good night is my favorite song by zb1 so maybe my standard was a little tooo high?

on to the next thing- i woke up to 2 things: ricky black hair AND a speculation that my result would be out in a few minutes so basically, i was shivering from fear while going gaga over ricky.

ok so here I come with my discharge...

I'm honestly so upset about Golden Age lmao. SM lately keeps disappointing me because they tease one thing in their mv teasers and then release a completely different one. When I saw the mv teaser for Golden Age I got super excited hearing the piano and Doyoung's vocals; I thought we were getting a ballad or a beautiful melodic song (tell me it didn't sound like that), and even the mv looked like a potential masterpiece. Yet in both cases, it turned out being the complete opposite 😭😭😭

I don't know if it's a me problem. That I won't adapt to this maybe new way of composing and producing tracks, but I really really don't like it 🙃 Songs lack of musical cohesion, and the abrupt changes in rhythm and genre in just one song make the music not enjoyable at all (for me.) I don't think this is the way to go. And I'm a big "noise music" enjoyer in general, but this is different, it's not even noise music it just doesn't make sense to me. Feels like listening to 3 different tracks in one song but the DJ sucks at transitions.

Anyway !!! I still have hope that I can enjoy NCT's music when the new album comes out and if I don't, luckily their old music will always be there.
