Also tell us about the cute girl at this party who you're definitely not crushing on
I’m not crushing on her (yet) and I definitely don’t plan on it, she’s just exactly the type I’ve been into before — the voice (warm with high notes, if that makes sense), the hair (feathery short and brown), the style to some extend (tomboyish), the jaw line… it’s startling tbh. There’s a specific type I find myself drawn to, I suppose???
And her signalling that she’s into girls too was really surprising and I’ll spend a while wondering whether she had motif behind it. Which she most likely didn’t, it was more a bonding moment, but, you know how it is. She’s also the girl who got told in conversation by a shared wlw friend that I’m bi and who was really surprised. The “oh, I thought she was conservative?” one. So make of that what you will? She also made sure to bring me to the train station and later kept texting me while I waited, which was really sweet :)

Tumblr media
slotting his house key into the lock, atsumu had a content smile gracing his face as the next scene he assumed to be ahead of him was already playing out in his head.
you in a pretty dress he had so graciously bought and maybe even one of those cute frilly aprons he’d insisted upon gifting you. you would drop your cooking utensil immediately upon his arrival and rush over to him to take care of his jacket and bags while chanting about how desperately you missed your dear husband while he was away. atsumu would then shower you with the attention you had been missing out on and he’d have his darling little wife sit on his lap mindlessly chattering about how much she needed him.
atsumu was sure this was what was going to play out before him as soon as he opened the door.
so why the fuck had he opened the door to see otherwise?
his eyes twitched with irritation slightly at the sight of you in sweats on the couch lazily scrolling through your phone, but he refused to throw a fit immediately. he was kind enough to allow you the chance to explain yourself, afterall, he was adamant he was a good husband to you. the best husband to you.
“baby.” his voice rang clearly through the room as your head perked up at the sound of his voice. immediately you smiled upon seeing him as you hopped off the couch and dropped your phone to wander over to him. while you offered atsumu a warm smile, it didn’t seem to be reciprocated as a small but familiar glint in his eye told you enough to know something was off.
“i missed you.” you tried to shake that look from him as you wrapped your arms around his slim torso and inhaled the scent you’d found yourself missing over the week. “yeah?” he questioned as you looked up to meet his still piercing eyes. “of course.” you sighed before burying your face back into his chest for a moment.
for just a second, atsumu forgot why he was even mad. did he even have a right to be mad? he had a nice house, a job he loved and most importantly, the most perfect little wife. but then it all came back to him and the irritation stayed present as he stared down at you wrapped around his body.
the perfect little wife should have her husband’s dinner cooking and ready to be served upon his arrival. the perfect little wife should be dressed appropriately according to her husband's personal preferences which in atsumu’s case, were the dainty little outfits he was constantly having you try on and strut around the house in. the perfect little wife should respond appropriately whilst talking to her husband which for atsumu meant he’d prefer you at least pretend to be a little more mindlessly excited about seeing him again.
maybe you weren’t his perfect little wife anymore, but he could only blame himself. you were just too stupid to think for yourself, how could atsumu blame you for forgetting the rules he has in place if he hadn’t been around to remind you of them this past week? no matter, he’d just have to remind you as many times as it took to get these demands through to that pretty head of yours.
“i think someone’s forgotten a few things since i left.” atsumu stated flatly as you pulled away from him, eyes desperately looking up at him pleading to know where you had fucked up.
“i have?” you questioned, hands tugging at the hem of his jacket a little. you looked down refusing to continue looking at the disappointed expression of the man you loved the most knowing you had caused him to be upset.
atsumu smiled slightly as you slowly began to fall back into your submissive ways as he brought his hand down to hook his fingers under your chin forcing you to look up at him. his eyes were a little softer than before as thoughts of your kind and wonderful husband flooded your senses once more. you felt so terrible upsetting him as soon as he had come home. this was the man who insisted upon giving you anything and everything you ever asked for on a silver platter. he spoiled you to no ends and always pampered you to the point where it was clear you were his brat.
desperately wanting to make up for your out of line behaviour, you pulled the jacket off of atsumu and took his bags from his hand as he hummed in approval. the slightest grain of praise sent your head into turmoil as only thoughts of atsumu were permitted to dance around in there. smiling at him, you turned towards the direction of your bedroom before you were stopped by atsumu’s voice.
and when you come back, i want to see ya dressed how you know yer meant to be.” you gave him a quick nod as you hurried to your shared bedroom to drop his things and throw on an outfit you knew would be approving of him.
carefully scanning through your choice, you finally decided on wearing a cute little cami mini dress atsumu had bought you a few months back. the soft material stopped at your mid thigh as the short spaghetti straps held the dress up your body as the material tugged around you in all the right places. determined to show atsumu you were extra sorry, you grabbed a delicate apron he had bought you a few weeks beforehand and it was one you were yet to wear. the dainty frills and clean material were tied around your waist as you stared at your reflection back in the mirror.
you had missed atsumu, really, but you had missed this routine more and you were grateful your husband was kind enough to keep you in check whenever you slipped up rather than blow up over it.
you really were a lucky wife.
satisfied with your appearance, you pattered down the stairs to find atsumu leaning against the kitchen counter scanning over the meal you had been cooking prior to his return left cold on the stove. noticing your presence, atsumu smiled at your outfit as he open his arms for you to fall into. “at least you got one thing right.” he sighed as you nodded noting he was referring to the meal you had been preparing just thirty minutes before he had stepped through the door.
pressing a chaste kiss to your lips, atsumu pulled away before tapping your inner thigh making you jolt slightly. “well, get to it, i’ve had a long journey and i’m starvin’.” he sighed, smile still slightly evident on his face.
you nodded and stood over the stove before turning it on. the cooking process was simple, it was practically just a matter of heating the food up as atsumu never required you to do any actual heavy cooking. he’d never dare have you do anything that could potentially callous or wear down your soft hands that he loved having you run all over his body. he only ever put you to a little more work when it came to taking care of certain things. housework and cooking were mundane things he liked to let you get off with lightly. preserving your energy to have you selfishly take care of his personal needs.
two minutes went by before you felt a looming presence behind you. instinctively, you stepped back slightly allowed atsumu to wrap his arms around your waist and press his body up against yours from behind. thumbs traced small circles over the sides of your waist as you tried to keep your focus on the food on the stove careful not to burn it. not that atsumu would particularly care if you did, ordering in was always an option, but he’d always let you have a try and providing for him beforehand.
your head was going light as your husband's hot breath fanned right against your ear as you struggled to keep your focus on the stove. “i’m disappointed.” atsumu sighed lowly sending shivers through your body as he leaned in closer. “i thought i’d taught ya well enough to be able to remember how things work around here.”
your heart tugged at the degrading tone he was using whether it was intentional or not before atsumu continued. “it’s a shame really, i could’ve rewarded ya for being away from me for so long, but now it looks like i’m gonna have to use that time to remind you of a few lessons.” you nodded curtly at the light scolding as your husband's hand dipped between your inner thigh grazing over the pretty panties you found to be increasingly annoying.
thumb tracing the hem of the material, he continued to sigh and mutter small disapprovals of your previous behaviour, but none of the derogatory terms educating nor belittling you, but rather exciting you instead.
you could only hum and nod in agreement at atsumu’s words as the more you gave in, the more he did too. with each acceptance of scolding, your husband would reward you by pressing his fingers a little harsher through your already soaking panties.
“stupid girl,” he muttered up against your ear as your breathing grew slightly ragged. “i thought i taught ya to know better by now.”
his words only worked you up more as he buried his head into the crook of your neck, allowing his teeth to nip at your hot skin. now focusing his attention on your neck, atsumu sucked harshly making sure to leave bruises littered across where he had access to making sure to rebrand you as his own. “tsumu…” you whined as his fingers continued dragging along the soft silk material. “just take them off already.” you whimpered before your husband bit a little harsher causing you to yelp.
“first i come home to ya looking less than presentable and now yer telling me what to do?” your heart hammered at his dark tone as he pulled away momentarily. “baby,” he shook his head. “how could ya give me instructions when ya can’t even follow simple ones yerself.” he sighed as you whispered a quick apology.
his hand pulled away from between your thighs to instead grip the sides of your hips. rough hands running up and down your sides under the pretty dress you’d chosen for him. “let me show ya why i’m in charge around here yeah?” his hips were pressed up behind yours forcing you to feel how pent up he was too. “please.” you whimpered mindlessly grinding against the growing tent in his sweats.
atsumu chuckled before nipping the shell of your ear halting your instinctive movements. “good girl for asking me so nicely.”
with atsumu assaulting your neck once more and further adding to the sensation by pressing up against your clothed clit, all thoughts that weren’t regarding miya atsumu had disintegrated and now your only motive was to make your loving husband proud and take what he was willing to give you.
slowly, your movements grew to become more frantic as his hands stayed firm on your hips as he steadied himself behind you. “oh angel, ya really missed me huh?” he teased while slowing you to rut against him, clothes separating the two of you much to your frustration. you chanted small “uh huh”s as atsumu smiled upon your mindless behaviour. “it’s okay baby, let yer man take care of ya, i’ll make sure ya never forget these little rules again.” you mewled out his name which only delighted him further.
you were just too easy.
“so independent,” he whispered, fingers finally hooking under the hem of the silky undergarments before slowly pulling them down to pool at your ankles below. “it’s my fault, yer too stupid to be left alone for more than a few days right?” you nodded completely missing whatever you were agreeing to as atsumu continued to trace dreadfully slow patterns under your dress.
“it’s okay baby, i know you didn’t mean to make me angry did ya? it’s not yer fault ya can’t think for yerself.” atsumu continued to degrade you to nothing more than a brainless doll as you gave in to his desires completely all while trying to give the heating food on the stove even the slightest grain of attention you could.
fingers pressing onto your aching clit, your husband began to draw rough patterns onto the sensitive area, making sure to get a good feel of just how aroused he made you feel. humming in approval at the short breathy moans that left your throat, atsumu continued to tease you as you melted back into his chest keeping you in place against him and the stove.
“that’s it, good girl.” he praised the moment your legs parted a little wider for him to access. “feel good?” he asked despite the fact he already knew what your answer was. “yes atsumu, feels so good.” you blabbered as he selfishly stole all your focus onto him.
pushing his middle finger inside of you, atsumu’s eyes lit up at the feeling of how tight and wet you were around his finger. while your behavior wasn’t always perfect, your pussy was. he’d always tell you how you were made for him, your mind, body and soul all rightfully his as you always gave into him, atsumu’s grin widened when he felt you clench around his digits, your body already well accustomed to him. just how he’d trained it to be.
it wasn’t long before your husband was kind enough to give you his index finger, thumb ghosting over your clit after every few movements. relishing in the pretty sounds he was drawing out of you, atsumu picked up the pace knowing fully well you were practically teetering on the edge by now. your stuttered breathing, whimpers and pleading of his name were enough of a giveaway to know you were desperate for release, but the setter wasn’t about to give in.
while he had forgiven you a while ago, atsumu had decided that perhaps a little more punishment would really help you remember not to let him come home to anything less than what he expects again as he pulled his fingers out of you immediately after feeling you tense up.
“atsu- why?” you sobbed out frustrated and upset that he’d taken your high away from you. you were the most worked up you’d ever felt at this point and atsumu knew that too hence why he decided that now was the time to have a little bit of fun on his side with you. “i’m still mad ya know.” he cooed mockingly from behind you. “or did ya forget?”
“no, no, i didn’t i’m sorry.” you cried out, tears trickling out your eyes as atsumu stared up at your reflection against the glass panels up against the stove. part of him wished he waited, just to get you in a position where you were facing him, but for now he’d make do as his dick throbbed at the sight of your reflection. upset and ashamed, you stared back into your own reflection meeting your husband's wicked gaze.
“of course ya are.” atsumu hummed, hands temporarily pulling away from you to reach down to his own sweats. “and yer gonna show me how sorry ya are, right?”. pulling down both his sweats and boxers in one go, your breath hitch despite the fact you weren’t facing the terrifying thing. you didn’t need to be looking at it to know what it was capable of. atsumu’s cock was nothing new to you, but everytime you were met with it, atsumu proved himself to be just as relentless as the first time you’d experienced it.
both long and girthy, you were certain miya atsumu was the biggest you’d ever seen and taken, with thick veins running up and down the shaft adding further to the arousal he caused you.
“tsumu…” you breathed out as he pressed the swollen head in line with your entrance. “i’ve already gotten ya ready, don’t be greedy.” he scolded before you could even speak. despite his harsh words though, atsumu was still considerate enough to try and take some of the focus away from any potential pain with his fingers as he let his hand dip back down between your thighs fingers circling your clit gathering any slick he could before smothering it over your pretty pussy which at this point was clenching around nothing much to your demise.
rubbing the head up and down your clit to make access a little easier on the both of you, atsumu pushed into you stretching out your walls as you chanted his name like a mantra. his fingers were a lot different from his cock, as tears were dripping down your face in a mixture of both pleasure and pain all while he allowed you a moment to adjust to the dramatic size difference you had just gotten used to.
lifting the hem of your dress up, atsumu’s mood was left content at seeing your tight pussy struggle to take him all in. he was a proud man, proud of you and proud of his capability to get you like this.
pulling his hand away from your clit now that he’d pushed inside of you, the setter took both his hands to firmly grip on your hips as he began to start thrusting at a slow but steady pace to get you going.
while you thought atsumu was mad at you, he missed you more than anything and while he’d love to pull you away from the hot stove and fuck you over the clean marble counter, he was determined to enjoy the feeling of slowing making you his all over again for now. he’d have all the time in the world to roughly punish you should he ever choose to, but in this moment, he was content with what he was giving you and he was certain his pretty little wife had learnt her lesson.
finally getting you accustomed to the size of him, your cries turned into soft moans as the tip of his cock hit against your cervix sending your head to go blank and your actions to become completely instinctive. the only thing bringing you out of this mindless trance is the feeling of a hard slap to your ass as your head jolts up and you cry out.
“so, are ya really sorry for upsettin’ me?” atsumu challenges, speed continually picking up as your head scrambles to string together some form of answer. you know better than to keep him waiting as you open your mouth to speak, but before you can even try to get any words out, another slap lands just as harshly as the last, the pain mixing in with the pleasure throwing your make do answer out the window as you struggle to reply properly.
“yes tsumu, so sorry- never again.” you weep as the dried tears are replaced with a fresh wave dripping down your face much to atsumu’s satisfaction. “never what again?” he pries further all while slamming his dick in and out of your dripping cunt. “never - shit- never break your rules again.” you plead doing your best to show him just how sorry you really were.
sinking into you completely, atsumu really starts fucking you with the head of his cock hitting your cerfix repeatedly, the smacking of his balls slapping up against your ass mixed with the sound of your dripping hole being used as if it were a fleshlight echo through the room for you to hear.
“tsumu, ‘m sorry, m’ sorry, so- please!” you sob reaching the edge of your high once more feeling desperate for allowance from him this time. “not yet.” he hisses out as his thrust shows no relentlessness. all while you’re trying to hold yourself together, you feel the heat of the stove bring you back to some sort of sense as you make quick work of turning the gas completely off paying no mind to what the state of the food was inside of the pan.
“look up.” he demands, one hand straying from your hips to hook onto your jaw as he forces you to face the glass reflection of yourself being fucked stupid by him. “stupid slut.” he spits out pistoning his cock in and out of you at an unbearable pace. “my stupid slut.” he hisses slamming in and out of you forcing cries and wails out of your throat.
“not a slut.” you whimper out now refusing to take his degrading any longer. “‘m your wife tsumu, your good wife.” you insist, desperate for any form of praise from him. your husband sneers as he holds your jaw in place forcing you to stare at your fucked out expression.
“i don’t want a good wife, i want a perfect wife, ya got that?” he demands squeezing your hip as his own hips move faster than before. tears still streaming down your face from the immense pleasure and frustrations, you nod before mindlessly blabbering out your pleads.
“your perfect wife yeah, wanna be your perfect wife all yours.” you beg hurriedly in fear of him depriving you of your second orgasm of the night.
he liked the sound of that. knowing he had you completely and utterly wrapped around his finger pleased him. your words only affirming this satisfaction as you gave yourself into him completely allowing him the rights of making you his and his alone. it’s like he always told you; you were made for him.
“go on then,” he grunts. “cum for me, pretty girl. now.”
he doesn't have to tell you twice as his hard thrusts pay no mercy to your cute little pussy, you can only think about cumming around him at this very second. the tight coil in your stomach finally allowed to break, your walls spasm around his cock as he continues to pound inside of you all while youre granted the pleasure of finally releasing. the feeling making you see stars, atsumu continues to use your hole as he pleases his only motive now chasing after his own high.
tightening his grip on your hips, he pressed his lips up close to your ear, once again nipping lightly at the shell. “gonna be my perfect wife yeah? yer taking it all for me got it?” he growls as you nod quickly, head still spinning.
“yeah, yeah tsumu, your perfect wife, all yours.” you beg, the overstimulation preventing you from thinking straight.
“that's right, mine, mine, mine.” he finishes forcing his load into your tight hole, his hot cum filling your womb completely. the feeling of him inside of you causes your tongue to drop out as both tears and spit dribble down your face as he continues to ram in and out of you through his orgasm.
finishing, atsumu grunts and pulls out of you, eyes bright seeing your abused hole leak out with his cum. seeing you completely fucked out by him was one of his favourite sights and he was certain he’d never get enough of it.
regardless of his rules and words, atsumu adored you no matter what. but to see you completely ruined by him and him alone, it only made him fall harder knowing you were willing to always take whatever he desired to give you. it made him proud to know he’d cuffed someone so willing for him.
as you catch your breath, atsumu looks over your shoulder that the burnt food you had yet to notice. meeting his gaze, you look down at the contents in the pan and internally cuss yourself out at the mistake. so sure you were getting another scolding, you jolt at the feeling of atsumu’s hand resting on your shoulder.
“yer too cute for cooking anyway.” he mutters allowing you to breathe out relieved. stepping away from you and pulling up his boxers and sweats, atsumu allows himself one more glance at the sight of his cum dribbling down your thighs from behind. smiling to himself, he nods over at the direction of the house phone before heading towards the couch.
“show me you’ve learnt ya lesson and ring up for dinner yeah? maybe then i’ll give ya the reward i was talking about earlier.”
he smiles at the sight of you nodding, your wobbly legs making their way over to the landline to ring up for whatever takeaway came to mind, your husbands load still dripping between your thighs.
miya atsumu was adamant he was a lucky man. he had a nice house, a job he loved and now he was now certain he had the most perfect little wife.

“I’m Cold”
“I’m cold"
“And?”
“Can’t you give me your jacket or something?”
“Can’t you accept my proposal and marry me already?”
In which Prince Donghyuck’s parents are forcing him to get married and he decided to propose to the first girl he sees to shut his parents up
Genre: Prince!Lee Donghyuck x Maid!Reader, Angst, Fluff, Arranged Marriage (kinda), Slowburn
Warnings: Curse words, Suggestive (I’ll add more if there are)
Notes: Chapter 9 out of 13 of Im Cold. This came out a lot
WORD COUNT: 3.6k
Prev / Chapter 9 / Next
Tumblr media
Donghyuck, your eyes were closed just as he had instructed and smiles, it was a long day and he knows your scared so he stayed by your side just as you had requested, he sat across from you (which you were worried about, you invited him to sit beside you so it'll be comfortable but he just holds your hand and tells you to rest, and with great reluctance and a lot of persuading from the Prince you finally decided to rest. He only pulled his hand away when he felt his phone buzz in his pocket, Doyoung texted him after he clearly stated to not be bothered, at least Doyoung tried
Tumblr media
Donghyuck stares at his phone, Y/n should be okay by tomorrow, in any case I'll instruct Yuta to stay by her side all day and make sure Yangyang and two or three of the Honoris (the knights that Prince Donghyuck Commands, lead by Sir Yangyang) are at her beck an call, he nods and types on his phone Yes reschedule it to tomorrow
"Your Highness?" Your voice made his finger hover over the send button and he looks up his hand immediately taking yours, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to call you while you're busy"
Donghyuck shakes his head "I wasn't," he smiles softly "Didn't I tell you to get some sleep?"
You returned the smile "I can't"
"I can ask for a glass of warm milk" He says and attempts to stand and then pointed a finger at you, you tilt your head "Milk not hot chocolate, you won't be able to sleep with the sugar"
You smile at his words "No, please" You held his hand  making sure he wont leave "Don't wake the anyone for my sake, I'll sleep"
"Then sleep"
"But I wanna ask the Prince something"
"Go on then" Donghyuck says as he looks at his phone where Doyoung was still waiting for his response
"Can I go home?" Donghyuck froze at your words, fear being evident n his eyes as you clarified, his mind was running with questions of this was how afraid you were to afraid to stay at the palace "Tomorrow is supposedly my day off as a maid, I would like to go home and meet my family if that's ok"
"Of course its ok" He answers visibly relaxing at your request "I'll arrange a ride and escorts for you"
"I don't need escorts I'm just going home, Your Highness"
"You're my Fiancé you can't leave the palace without an escort, you were at the the palace and you got hurt what if you're out there?"
"Please? I don't want to make this a big of a deal"
He was firm with his decision about having an escort, the he grinned as he had an idea "Can I come?"
"Sorry?"
"No escorts just you and me, It'll be great to get out of the palace and you get to go home"
You sat up and shook your head "Your Highness I just help my parents with the flower shop, it'll be extremely boring-"
"Then wouldn't my visit be beneficial?" Donghyuck says and tilts his head "Not only am I visiting my soon-to-be-in-law's but I'm also visiting their shop that should boost your sales"
"Prince Donghyuck-"
"I don't wanna leave you alone" he cuts you off, he sounded sincere and worried his hand holding yours and you scrunched your nose and Donghyuck had to resist the smile that threatened to leave his lips
"But his highness has a schedule tomorrow"
"I don't" He answered quickly, his other hand (the one not holding you) had already pressed backspace and sent a new message to Doyoung
Tumblr media
"I really don't" He answers and gives you a small smile "Let me accompany you?"
You stared at him, will it really be ok? If the Prince neglects his duties for you, you might actually hit him "You can come" He lights up "Only if you have nothing to do, otherwise," you pursed your lips "I'll go with another escort, ok?"
Donghyuck nods, happy to have you agree "Ok, I accept your terms, now get some rest, I'll make the preparations"
You nod and settled back down "Stay with me 'till I fall sleep?"
He nods at your suggestion and in all honesty, Donghyuck had no plans in leaving you alone at all, he watches you close your eyes and he looks at his phone where Doyoung has sent a message
Tumblr media
Donghyuck looks at your already sleeping form and he smiles, he adjusts the blankets to cover you more and used his finger to brush the hair out of your face and he coos, You looked exhausted which was true today had been a long day and you deserved the rest so he pulls away and looks out your window into the grassy fields. He took this time to think about Doyoung's suggestion, next week the deal would be over and you will no longer be his fiance, he will no longer have a reason to bring you around anymore, he nods
Tumblr media
He sighs, a bitter taste filling his mouth, this shouldn't be hard, why would he care if the deal is over? He locks his phone, What the hell is wrong with him?
Tumblr media
"Mama, Papa!" You called and happily jumped to hug your parents the moment you entered the shop, "I missed you"
"Aww Y/n" Your father whispers and hugs you "My Darling, look at you" You smile and leaned into your father's scent before you get an earful from your mother
"Mama?" You called and you yelped as your mother hugged you before pinching your ears and you cry "Ma!"
"Y/n what the hell are you thinking?!" She screeched "Why agree to be on a fake relationship with the Prince?"
You pouted and rubbed your ears, as your father laughs, its no secret that he misses how you and your mother would play around, "Pa, why won't you defend me?" You whined and he laughs more
"I'd rather not get in-between you and your mother" He answers
You scrunch your nose "Traitor"
"Y/n" Your mother calls you again and you straiten up "Do you have any idea-"
"Lay off her Ma" A familiar voice starts from the doorway to the back of the shop and you squealed running over to tackle your brother in a hug "Hi" He chuckles and pets your hair before pinching your ears "Cause I want first dibs, I can't believe you did something so reckless"
"Pa!" You called out and your father pried your brother off you "Like you guys would've said No to the Prince?"
You're brother looks at you and he laughs "Come here" You moved to him and he pulls you to a hug "You're an idiot but you got a point"
You rolled your eyes and hugged him happily, You missed your brother.
"Still, why you?" Your mother asks and you moved to hug her and give her a kiss on the cheek "Is the Prince treating you well? Fake or not he should treat you with respect"
"He does Mama" You answered and held you mother more "The Prince is really kind and caring"
She looks at you and you smile, "If you insist, But that doesn't mean I'm happy with this Fake Relationship of yours"
"There is no need to worry Y/n is in great hands" Donghyuck answers and entered the shop Bowing in front of your parents and they bowed in shock at the sudden intrusion. Donghyuck yelps and quickly straitened your families posture, "No Please, Don't bow, I do not deserve that" Your family looked down, ashamed at there words and the Prince laughs "They act like you"
"Your Highness-" Your brother starts
Donghyuck bows "Please, It's Donghyuck. Even if Y/n and I are on a deal, We have become good friends, and I would like to be close with her family too"
You poked your brother's shoulder so he'll speak "It'll be an honor your Highness" He smiles bowing slightly and Donghyuck bows
"I would like to Present gifts to Y/n's family" Donghyuck starts and moves to take a box out from his bag "Consider this as a thankyou for giving birth to Y/n and an engagement gift from me"
"You Highness" I gasped and he grins moving to present the gift
"Oh my god" Your mom gasps and looks at the Prince smiles "Y/n mentioned you needed a new plot of land for your plants, I have brought the deed of the land, I hope that is alright"
"My Prince we can't accept this" Your father answers
He shakes his head "Please, It would be an honor to help" He takes out two other boxes and bows handing it to your parents "And these are presents from the King and Queen"
Your parents froze at the Prince's words "Your highness" Your father starts again and Donghyuck motions for them to open the gift
Your bother drags you away and puffs his cheeks as you laugh, "Y/n, was the Prince always, stuck up?"
You smile, you knew your brother was very insightful and he has the tendency to say things he regrets later on but you decide to tease him anyway "Should I relay your words to the Prince?"
He hits you at the teasing and you laugh, Donghyuck turns to you and smiles, he didn't regret seeing you here at your home, He adores your smile and you deserve to be happy and he'll do anything to keep that smile of yours. He looks at your parents "And I would like to buy flowers, The Queen always mentioned that she wanted the Royal Gardens to be expanded" He smiles "Do you have any recommendations?"
"Y/n" He calls and you and you walked towards him, and he shows you the flowers in his hands "Red Chrysanthemums or Heliotrope?" He asks and you scrunched your eyebrows
"That doesn't match the flowers In the Royal Garden, Your Highness" you answered "Lilies might blend well with The Queen's White Carnation"
"I'm not placing them there" He answers and you looked at him confused "They'll be in the plot of land by your room"
You blinked "What?"
"You never told me how plane that part was and The Queen wanted to extend the Garden and I thought why not" He answers and looks at the flowers "Which one would you think is better?"
"It is completely your choice, My Prince" You answered
"I'm asking you, Y/n"
You looked at him and he raises an eyebrow waiting for your answer "The Heliotrope"
He nods and hands it back to your mother as he takes out his phone to contact Doyoung "I'll take fifty of those" He informs
"Fifty is too much for that land, Your highness" You Informed as your parents stared at the Prince in his surprise
"I know" He answers and smiles "I have something in mind for the extras"
Tumblr media
"Would you like coffee your highness?" Your mother asks as she places the hot water into a glass
He nods his head as you tilt yours, You're family made you sit by the Prince while they prepare snacks, You're mom doesn't seem to have notice the Prince's answer as you spoke first  "Ma can I get Hot chocolate?"
"No" She answered and you pout "No, too much sugar" She says and raises her eyebrow at you but you nodded
"Um," Donghyuck cuts in "I would like Hot Chocolate if that's alright" You looked at him, He hates sweets, why would he ask of that?
Your mother nods, smiling at the Prince "Yes of course"
Your brother flops down across from you "You'll give it to her, won't you?"
You looked at The Prince who nods "Is it that obvious?"
"I'm afraid so your majesty"
The Prince laughs and nods "Well it can't be helped"
"You don't have to worry about me you know" You started and he looks at you "I could always coax Mama"
He smiles "I know, but I thought this would be easier"
You opened your mouth to retaliate only to hear the front door of the shop open and a familiar voice pop in "Auntie where should I put these?" you stared at the figure at the door as Donghyuck looks at him he bows "I'm sorry for barging in, I didn't know The Prince was here, I wouldn't have entered otherwise"
Donghyuck watched as the boy looks at you before standing up again "No Please, Come in"
The man bows and looks at your brother as you stared at him "Hyung, I'll go put this in the storage room" He informs and moves to enter the storage room, his eyes briefly meeting yours before disappearing behind the door and you couldn't help but whimper at the action
The Prince stared at you confused behind the exchange and you seemed frozen, staring at the door. He reaches out a comforting hand to yours but your brother despite being a fan of the Prince knows the reason behind that look in your eyes and he was starting to grasp the Prince's feelings for you but he had to be sure "Y/n" He called your name before The Prince could hold your hand and you jolted as if waking up from a trance
You reached out to pat the Prince's hand which was closes to you as you stood up "I'll be back, just a moment, My Prince" You said and stood up running to the storage room "Hendery!" You called and disappeared behind the door
"You're quite quick" Donghyuck says looking at the door the way you did when Hendery entered "You knew what I was doing?"
Your brother nods "I'm sorry for interrupting but my sister, despite being your fake Fiance is still my sister" He answers and takes a deep breath, he knows that is rude but The Prince seemed to enjoy the conversation, you and your brother are alike, both of you aren't afraid to stand up for yourselves
"Who is he?" Donghyuck asks and looks at your brother, using his position as the Prince to dominate your brother who was older than him
"My sister must be very important to you your Highness" Your brother notes, his competitive side coming out "Makes me wonder how important my sister is to His Highness, may I ask why?"
Donghyuck seemed to have been taken a back by the question begore humming and regained his composure, Why does this bother him?  "I promised Y/n," He answers and smiled "I promised her despite being in a fake engagement," Donghyuck copied your brother's tone as a silent way to warn him about his words "That I'll take care of her"
Your brother nodded, The Prince's intentions was definitely to take care of you, he now has no doubt "His name is Wong Hendery" Your brother answered "He is my sister's Boyfriend" Donghyuck froze at the information and your brother looks at him to study his reaction "Didn't Y/n mention him?"
No. "Yes," He lies and looks at his hands, it shouldn't hurt, but why? Why does he want to cry? "She has, I just didn't know what he looked like"
"You should follow her, My Prince" Your brother starts "I doubt Hendery would believe her if she was the only one who spoke about your agreement"
And Donghyuck stand to follow after you the moment your brother said those words
Tumblr media
"What do you want me to believe?" Hendery asks and you looked at him reaching out to hold his hand "I was hurt," he whispered and you teared up at his words "Why would My Y/n be in a relationship with the Prince when she just accepted my love for her? Did I do something wrong? Was it me? Did I drive her away?"
You shake your "No, Don't think like that-"
"Then Why?" He asked, his emotions a mix of both anger and sadness "Why?"
"We're not together, the Prince asked for my help and I wanted to say no but how could I say No to the Prince?" You pleaded "I'm sorry," you bowed your hand and a sob leaves your lips, Donghyuck who was listening behind the door flinched at the sound of you crying, he wanted to barge in there and hold you, to console you, he wanted to be in there with you "But the Prince is just a Prince," Tears started slipping from your eyes as you spoke, the build up of frustration and fear and pain you felt the last couple of days finally being enough, Hendery being the only person you could rely on and at the thought of loosing him you broke "The Prince doesn't mean anything to me, Hendery, please I'm sorry-" you cried and were silenced when Hendery wrapped his arms around you
"Y/n what happened in the Palace?" He asked and wiped your tears, he knows you enough to know how strong willed you were and that something must've happened if it upsets you that much
Donghyuck freezes at your words and looked away, tears building up in his eyes, he was in pain, why? he doesn't know himself, maybe its because he can hear you crying and not be able to do anything about it, that seems to be the only reason
You shake your head as he holds you close "Believe me the Prince and I-"
"I believe you" Hendery spoke and pulls away to look at you, wiping your tears "I promise, I believe you. Didn't I tell you while I courted you? I'll believe anything you say as long as you choose me in the end"
You stared at him and started crying even more and he holds you "Please Hendery I'm so sorry" You wailed and he looks up whatever happened to you must've placed a huge toll on your mental state "Please don't leave! I-I can't loose you! I can't- I was so afraid, I was so scared I- I felt so alone and-"
"You're ok, I'm here, I'm staying" He assures and whispers into your ears "I love you, It's ok, let it out, you need to cry it all out" he whispers "Let me take care of you, Let me" He says and you loose consciousness, "Y/n!" He curses before lifting you, carrying you out of the storage room and he sees the Prince on his way
Donghyuck looks at your limp figure on Hendery and opens his mouth to speak before Hendery turns and walk in the direction of a bedroom and places you inside and down on the bed, his hand intertwined with yours to whisper small promises of him staying 'till you wake up
"What Happened to her?" Donghyuck asks after following after Hendery and you
"No offense, Your Highness but shouldn't I be the one to ask you that?" Hendery shot back and looked at the Prince "What happened in the palace? Why was she she afraid?"
Donghyuck's jaw hardened, He had no reason to fight against the boy in front of him, he is legally your boyfriend and just outside was your family, he is at a great disadvantage "She was Physically abused by a Duchess and her daughter"
Hendery stood up "She was, what!?" He was angry enough to speak informally to the Prince but Neither could care less, You were more important than their status
"I took care of it," Donghyuck answered, lips pursed as he sees your figure "I saved her, and punished the Duchess and Haneul accordingly"
"You heard our conversation, which part of that is her being ok?"
"I don't want any harm on her, I came and helped the moment I heard about it"
"Why would a Duchess harbor something like that?"
"I was once engaged to the Duchess's Daughter"
"On a fake relationship?"
"Watch your tone" Donghyuck warned and Hendery stared at him unthreatened "The King thought it would be the perfect match, but I dumped her when I caught sight of her personality"
"She must've been scared" Hendery whispers and sits back down "I don't care about your story, My Prince, but you must understand, I love Y/n and I will do anything to make her happy"
"I can see that, rest assured" Donghyuck sighs "I'm sorry, for making your relationship with her complicated, but our agreement will only last for two weeks, and I will make sure no harm will come to her after I announce about our break up"
Hendery looks at your sleeping form and then back at the Prince "I know your Highness" he answers and kisses your fingers "She has a special place with you, doesn't she?"
"No, She is a friend" His jaw hardened once again at the words
"well in that case" Hendery looks at the Prince with a tilt of his head "Can I ask the Prince for a favor about Y/n's Birthday?"
"Her Birthday?"
"Yes, I was planning on surprising her with a sweets my mother bakes" He smiles softly at a memory of you adoring his mother's sweets "perhaps The Prince will be interested making her birthday more memorable?"

“Hey whore. Can I ask you a question?”
“Excuse me?”  the shocked voice of Tessa Gray asked. “That is no way to anyone, let alone your mother.”
Kit’s eyes widened in horror. “I, er, um. Haha, wrong number. Bye. Love you.”
“Christopher Jonathan Herondale, don’t you dare hang up on-” He hung up.
Kit placed his phone onto the cold, stone bench, case facing up. He took a quick look at the two photos wedged between the thick plastic of his Otterbox and the hard copper of his literal lifeline.
The first one was of himself, Jem, Tessa and Mina in front of a Christmas tree. It had been taken last year by a begrudging Mari. She grumbled away the entire time about ‘why in the world was she willingly being the angel bitches servant’ but in the end she was the one who had printed it for him in the first place.
Mina was clutching Church for dear life, a euphoric smile spread across her tiny face. It never ceased to amaze Kit how quickly she was growing up.
The second photo was of all the Merry Hoes in Blessica’s basement just a few weeks ago. They all sported their matching jackets. It was slightly off center as Blessica’s brother was blind and therefore had no way of seeing what he shot on the old Polaroid. But it was perfect.
Blessica’s brother is the only person in her family who knows she is a werewolf. Her parents and two sisters just think she sleeps over at Maria’s a lot.
Kit drug his hands down his face and sighed deeply . He was definitely going to pay for that later. He would have been surprised Tessa was still awake at three am if he weren’t too mortified to feel any other emotion.
With another sigh, he picked up the phone and scrolled through his contacts once more. He took extra care to click on the right name.
“Hey whore. Can I ask you a question?”
“Of course, daddy,” answered his intended target immediately. Astrid Yang may have been a lesbian, but she was also a kinky bitch.
“What would you do if your ex-crush who you're still sorta kinda not over liked a post with you and your girlfriend.”
The line went dead for several minutes before she responded. “In this hypothetical scenario, who has the bigger mommy milkers?”
Kit scratched his head and held the photo closer to his ear. “Well the first one doesnt even have tits so..”
“So what was I doing simping over her? I obviously stay with my current girlfriend. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.”
He could have told Astrid about a million things, ranging from asking her if she was really that shallow to reminding her that she has literally almost passed out because a hot girl winked at her (she’s not as picky with her crushes as she thinks she is) but instead he sputtered out, “this isn’t about leaving Mari or not.”
Several things crashed on the other side of the phone. “You're leaving Mari?!”
“No! I just said-“ Kit took a long breath and sighed for the third time. “You know how when I’m bored I keep updating Insta?”
“Yeah, we all know that you’re a massive narcissist, go on.”
“Well I was doing that because I couldn’t sleep and Ty liked one of my posts with Mari. You know, the one where we’re doing that Tik Tok dance.”
“No I don’t know. You guys do like a million Tik Tok dances.” There was a rustling noise on Astrid’s end. It sounded like she was picking up the stuff that clattered to the floor.
“The one where she calls me an ‘uncultured slut’. Which I blame you for.”
“Oh, yeah. I did say that. Haha.” A small grin made its way into Kit’s face, despite the dire situation.
“But when I refreshed it again, it was gone. So now I’m wondering if he deleted it or I imagined it.”
“Hmmm. If Mitski’s ex-girlfriend, with equally big boobies, liked her post with the girl she was seeing now, what would she do?”
“Ast, what does Mitski have anything to do with my struggles?” Kit could practically hear his friend rolling her eyes.
“My parents always used to say,” she cleared her throat and imitated her dad’s gruff voice. “’If in trouble, ask yourself, what would our lord and savior Jesus Christ do?’ But Mitski is my lord and saviour. Besides, Mitski is always relevant in some way.”
“First of all, agreed. Second of all, I told you, Ty isn’t my ex-boyfriend. He’s my ex-crush.”
Astrid was the only one out of the Merry Hoes who knew about Ty. It wasn’t that he was purposely trying to exclude everyone else. Astrid had just happened to be the one who was nearest the day of the anniversary he left Los Angeles.
“Wait, for real? Why not? You’re a total babe!”
“Thanks. But we didn’t really get the chance to go on a date as I may have confused my love for him than ran away to a different country. Lol!”
“Kit, my dude. This is way too juicy, I mean serious, a topic to discuss over the phone. Wanna come over? I have crisps and a Stranger Things binge calling your name.”
Kit was fully aware that he went to her house, they weren’t going to talk more about the insistent. They were going to laugh so hard water would come out of their noses. And see how many candies could fit on their tongues. And Kit appreciated that.
“That would be great. I- hold on. My dad’s calling me. See ya soon.” Kit switched lines. “Hey, I’m really sorry for-”
“Greeting whore,” Jem said in the most monotone voice possible. There was silence for moments before Kit’s parents started laughing.
Kit has never been more confused in his life. Okay, that is a total lie. But this is definitely up there.
“We looked it up on this website called Urban Dictionary,” Tessa reported gleefully. “It’s a compliment now!”

HLO slinks in thru a bead curtain.......... truly sry this took me so long to concoct bt i’m here now, hand on hip, smiling coyly at u all...... i’m nai n i’m rly excited to b here so i’ll just dive right in!! u can find bradley’s pinterest board here n her muse tag here. like this or hmu for plots!
[ cis female, she/her, margaret qualley , twenty-four ] i can’t be sure, but i think i just saw BRADLEY MILLIGAN drive onto the parkway. don’t they know we’re not supposed to be driving on that haunted road right now? maybe it has to do with the fact that they’re so +RESILIENT and -VOLATILE that makes them feel UNPHASED about everything going on. i guess we could also chalk it up to the fact that they’re always reminding me of LEMON IN A FRESH CUT, THE AMBER BLINK OF AN ANGRY ALLEY CAT, GRINNING WITH BLOOD ON YOUR TEETH. either way, i hope they get back safely. [ nai, she/her, 24, gmt ]
aesthetics: singeing a hole in your fishnets with the cherry of a menthol, spitting a pistachio behind the bar just to hear it ping off the nozzle top bottles, lemon in a fresh cut, a war torn poppy standing alone in an empty field, pressing thumbs to yellow bruises, stomping over flowerbeds when there’s a path right besides it, dangling over ledges just to feel your chest jolt, a snarling rottweiler that needs muzzling, limp feet poking out behind a door, ‘I PROMISE I DON’T BITE’ scrawled on a name tag, slapping a bald head in front of you at the cinema like it’s a bongo, not owning a single jacket that isn’t stolen, driving a stranger’s car down the wrong lane against the screaming traffic, hair more feral than a wolf cub and eyes smudgier than a coal mine.
BACKGROUND:
ok SO. her father owns a strip club in crescent hill named no angels. it’s kind of.... a seedy establishment i won’t lie. hs a red glowing sign like it’s lighting up a window in amsterdam. cigarette butts floating in oil slick puddles outside. unsavoury characters crawling all over like rats in a sewer. despite this it’s a legitimate business on the surface of things n it does pretty well in trade. it’s like.... that place people warn u NOT to have ur bachelor party at unless u fancy urself the type tht willingly enters a lion’s den bt tht almost??? adds to the allure in a way??? ppl r like wow so sketchy it’s the thrill of a lifetime........ i mean run while u still can bt go off i guess
it isn’t Confirmed Public Knowledge bt it’s pretty heavily implied thru the rumour mill that bradley’s father is the head of a gang of rly............ Not Nice people. all the ppl that work for him u would hands down NOT want to run into in a dark alley. while things seem legitimate on the suface it’s pretty clear they’re into shady dealings n the townsfolk that suspect that would indeed b correct! the club’s a front for a drug business n they’re also washing n running counterfeit cash thru it. they probably also have their hands dipped into a few other local businesses to run their cash thru these too n keep it all seemingly by the books so nobody comes sniffing around. they even r friends with a member of local law enforcement that’s working w them for a cut so they honestly have all bases covered to keep things airtight n foolproof. perhaps a business in reed too which bradley oversees bt i haven’t given this Too Much thought as of yet??
so ya she’s grown up fairly local most of her life n would maybe be known around town as such.................. the milligans r certainly Interesting as far as families go so like. it honestly wldn’t surprise me if ppl nudge elbows when they see one of them coming n immediately walk in the opposite direction. just quite an intimidating presence...... they’re like caged animals where ur specifically instructed NOT to stick ur fingers between the bars bc they WILL bite
on a more personal note her dad is pretty much the worst human being alive n bradley hs like….. a lot of issues with herself as a result of years of toxicity n abuse
in terms of more family bkground info her mum’s name was alyssa n she vanished when bradley was 12. jst like…. into thin air. nothing. no note. zilch. gan! n when bradley asked her dad abt it his response was essentially “guess she didn’t love us enough to stay”. as bradley’s got older tho n become (without intention) more involved in the business side of things, it’s become pretty clear there was far more to the story.
(abuse tw) they had a horrible marriage n tony ws emotionally manipulative at the best of times, violent at worst, which didn’t help the fact tht alyssa ws struggling a lot w severe depression n rly just… not in the mindset to b dealing w anything else, even where motherhood ws concerned. bradley p much… would look after her a lot n they’d both b scared of her dad n it was just a whole unhealthy mess.
(death implied tw) anyway im rambling bt basically tony (bradley’s dad) gt wind of alyssa sleeping w men tht worked fr him n he just… got rid. bradley’s kind of worked out over the yrs tht her mum didn’t jst leave on her own accord n tht something must hav happened to her bt she’s too scared of her dad to ever directly accuse him
when her mum went all of her dad’s cruelty pretty mch got channelled straight onto her. it ws diluted between two before bt as u can probably imagine her upbringing was jst…. a steep downhill decline
(drugs implied tw) she learnt ways 2 deal w the incurring trauma bt they weren’t healthy ones at all! bsically jst. will do or take anything fr the distraction. chases a thrill like it’s the only way to remind her she’s alive. has absolutely no regard fr her own wellbeing n often gets other ppl in trouble too bc she’s so insatiably reckless
(hospitalisation tw) she hd….2 separate stints of psychiatric hospitalisation n she never tlks abt it. like ever. acknowledging she’s been vulnerable is her worst nightmare n bc of the way her dad raised her she always thinks any sign of struggling within herself is weakness. truly does…. not kno how to properly emotion
CUT TO!!!! the present. she’s currently living at the motel which is like. the least homely place she cld ever live rly but bradley loves making her life uncomfortable n doesn’t rly believe in growing sentimentally attached to anything if she cn help it <3 probably gets into arguments all the time w her neighbours it’s a whole thing.... atrocious at feeding herself has breakfasts frm the vending machine like her organs aren’t screaming fr vegetables.... plays music too loud n sometimes vanishes for days at a time without a word. she’s a lot.
i honestly feel like the murders haven’t rly phased bradley too hugely....... i won’t lie she probably genuinely is like. oh maybe it’s smthn to do w my dad. n just blinks the other way not rly that phased. on some subconscious level i think she rly just thinks........ death follows her wherever she goes n is like. this is just life for me! kind of depressing. holds her hand bt then screams n pulls away when she inevitably bites me.
PERSONALITY:
the kind of sour cherry only certain people have a taste for
once drank a bottle of whiskey, insisted she could still do a cartwheel and accidentally kicked an old man’s front tooth out in the process. proceeded 2 collapse into a flower bed and laugh so much abt it that she cried
barely takes anything seriously 50% of the time and is angry the other 50%
if she was a coffee she’d be black with five grains of sugar that you couldn’t taste until the last sip
(alcoholism tw) high functioning alcoholic. if u ever see her w a coffee cup u jst kno tht one sniff will confirm high alcohol percentage. honestly idk hw she does it her liver must b yellin
loyal to a point of fault. if she cares abt u (rare) and u murder a man in cold blood (not so rare in the broad scheme of bradley’s life) she’ll brawl anyone that says ur guilty
honestly wld probably fight a person over anything. sometimes she’ll jst be having a bad day n she’ll burst n take it out on whoever says the wrong thing. minefield!
has the worst luck in romance…. ever. ALL her past bfs hav been absolute beasts n as a result she has the ‘romance is dead n love is a lie’ mentality. definitely NOT a romantic. very cut n dry abt these things. sex is mostly just sex n she’d kind of scoff at anyone that wanted more from her
mostly wears stolen clothes from strangers and jackets that swamp her. huge chunky stomping boots with steel toe caps that would RLY bruise if they gave u a kick. hair is p much always a wild mess n she usually hs kind of smudgy/smoky makeup bcos apparently she’s allergic to combs and generally looking presentable… relatable content. the only time she rly looks put together is when she has to do something/go somewhere/see someone on behalf of her father....... he kind of uses her as a sort of. honey pot sometimes fr shit his gang get up to it’s like. not! a way u should ever utilise ur daughter but :/ i cannot stress enough how much i wna drop kick him in the neck
she’s v sarcastic. blunt. kind of has a habit of…. assessing a person n she’s quite perceptive bc she’s been trained to b by the way she always has to monitor her dad’s expression fr the slightest emotion change. she’s very confident n can p much mke a conversation out of whatever if she feels like it. independent too like she hs a bunch of (predominantly surface connection) friends bt she doesn’t care abt going out places alone n does this often. she’s probably kind of known around town bt itd b a 50/50 balance between bein known as intimidating n bein known as that one girl tht always gets into anarchy
likes: drunken snow angels that drag on so long they flirt with pneumonia, stealing cars, throwing watermelons off rooftops to watch them explode, shooting pedestrian’s with bb guns from hidden spots on rooftops.
dislikes: telling the truth, tulips so yellow it’s like they’re gloating, playing music loud enough to fry your brain and serve it on a piece of toast, going home.
PLOTS:
someone tht works at the ‘no angels’ strip club?? either as a dancer or bartender or whtever. just a forewarning it’s probably gna b a pretty….. seedy and Not That Pleasant environment bc it’s like. a crime hotspot inevitably bc it’s a gang hangout so. ur chara wld truly be in fr a rollercoaster ride to say the least
(drugs tw) she deals coke fr her dad’s gang so perhaps ur muse buys off her
anyone….. she’s brawled in the past like. she’s literally a menace i cnt express this enough. wil jst randomly throw a drink in someone’s face fr no reason bc she’s bored. she’s probably pissed off 1000 diff ppl in 1000 diff ways. the possibilities r endless n i jst think tht’s a sexy prospect!
fwbs perhaps??? exes??? (probably ws a tumultuous relationship honestly bradley is. a handful...... it’s also rly not often she ties herself down tbh so this would maybe have to b discussed/be circumstantial/kind of rare)
mayb someone tht she met at an aa meeting when she hd to go fr a court mandated thing one time after bein arrested fr public indecency. i feel like there’s probably a rly expensive statue somewhere thts fancily sculpted n she like. did a flying kick n broke the dick of it off n gt arrested fr it
ppl she……. Goes Wild Goes Crazy w. truly jst the most self destructive person alive so anyone w a similar mindset wld b a hellish bt fun combination
on the contrary a gd influence cld b nice perhaps? like someone tht genuinely cares abt her n she jst doesn’t kno hw to compute it
maybe people who r her neighbours that live at the motel too??
OH it could b fun if ur muse runs or works at a local business maybe like. a bar? idk? n bradley n ur muse have developed a rapport bc she frequents the place n is................ a Character
um. honestly the world’s our oyster. hmu n we cn brainstorm if none of tht catches ur eye!

apocalypse {f.h.}
pairing: number five x reader
warnings: death, some angst, lots of language
notes: trying to fight my writer’s block and finish pieces I’ve forgotten aha im posting this at midnight rn
/inspired by the song apocalypse by cigarettes after sex/
Tumblr media
you’ve been locked in here forever and you just can’t say goodbye
your scraped knees and twisted ankle were the only things you could feel as you limped along the abandoned roads. they used to be a freeway, you think, but it’s hard to tell considering everything looks the same in the new post apocalyptic world: destroyed and desolate. death wasn’t a very good decorator, but it probably had other things on its mind.
today marked one week since the apocalypse had swept away any and all life from the earth, besides you, of course. somehow, you’d been (un)lucky enough to survive. who knew hiding in the dryer during a game of hide and seek with friends would pay off in the long run. and now, here you were, injured and alone-
“shit.”
or so you thought.
“hello?” you called out desperately, and the voice you had heard seemed to vanish in thin air. “i-i need help. my ankle’s twisted and i just need a place to rest.” nothing.
with a sigh, you sat yourself down amongst the rubble and pulled out your water jug from your flask. yet as you held it over your mouth you were met with nothing but air. only a few drops landed on your tongue, escaping the jug once you tapped the bottom with your palm. at this rate, you’d be dead in a few days. it’s almost impossible to survive the apocalypse on your own... unless you’re number five.
with a gun suddenly pointed at your face, a voice on the other end of the barrel demands, “who are you?”
“y/n,” you reply calmly, a sense of tiredness in your voice. he notices, but maintains his death grip on the weapon and his finger on the trigger.
“are you alone?”
“i was, then you showed up.” the boy, as you can tell by now, narrows his green eyes at you. “listen, if you’re gonna kill me, all i ask is that you do it quick. put me out of my misery.”
he’s quiet, his brows furrowed as he contemplates his next move. then, with the gun lowered, “i’m not going to kill you.”
“that’s too bad,” you reply calmly, setting your jug aside before letting your back rest against the piece of debris behind you. “guess i’ll let Mother Nature do it herself.”
“are you always this depressing?” he asks slightly annoyed.
“not usually, but when the world you once knew goes to shit... well,” you shrug, “people change.”
“self-pity isn’t a good change.”
“yeah, well neither is violence.”
“trust me, that’s the one thing that’s stayed the same,” he murmurs, almost as if he’s speaking to himself. his posture has relaxed significantly and the gun is on safety. “i’m Five.”
“well, Five, looks like it’s just you and me.”
~~~
it had been three years ago since you had first stumbled upon five, and since then you two had been inseparable. you were the apocalyptic duo (plus delores), and nothing could get in your way. in fact, it was safe to say you were in love with him, and unbeknownst to you, the feeling was somewhat mutual.
today had been like any other day. you’d woken up next to each other, eaten breakfast, gotten ready for the day, then continued your trek to god knows where. you sat in the wagon with Delores while five pulled, admiring the post apocalyptic beauty of everything around you. it was kind of poetic, really. how things seemed prettier when destroyed. or maybe you were just a big masochist. you wouldn’t be surprised after all the time you had spent with five.
“i’m hungry,” you stated aloud to no one in particular. “you hungry, Delores?”
“...”
“five, we’re hungry,” you chimed, causing him to roll his eyes in slight annoyance at your whining. honestly, he sometimes thought of you as a big baby he had to take care of. a small being who needed constant care and attention otherwise they’d die. but for some reason, five always took care of you. always. if he wasn’t such a tough guy, he’d consider it to be love. but to five, it was a silent agreement the two of you had come to; he’d take care of you and you’d make things less lonely. to five, this was enough. there was no place for love in the apocalypse.
“what do you want?” he grumbled, continuing to pull the weight of you and Delores as well as your few belongings within the wagon.
“hmm... spaghetti!”
“why do you two insist on making things so difficult?” five huffed, stopping for a moment to scan his surroundings. “i think there used to be a super market a few blocks from where we’re standing. they might have something there.”
the super market, once known as john’s grocery, was nothing but rubble and broken building, but a good survivor always knew not to judge a book by its cover, which is why you and five managed to find some pretty good shit. it wasn’t spaghetti, of course, but a can of Pringle’s and beef jerky sandwiches was like heaven to your rumbling tummies.
while Five was busy evenly splitting the sandwich Delores had so graciously offered to the two of you, you rummaged through your bag and pulled out your find: a Polaroid only slightly damaged from the blast. it only took a minute for you to insert the film and a few seconds to snap a photo of an unsuspecting five concentrating on the precision of slicing the sandwich.
“what the hell was that?” he asked, looking up at you and scowling slightly at the sight of the camera. he hated pictures.
“i found it,” you grinned, snapping another photo.
“Jesus, enough with that,” five scolded, blinded temporarily by the glare. “you’re going to get us killed.”
“no one’s out here, you’re being paranoid,” you said dismissively, smiling at the developed film. “besides, look at how adorable you look!”
five merely rolled his eyes and took a bite of his jerky sandwich. you were too trusting of the world, too naive. believing that no one could touch you, that nothing could go wrong. it’s what had gotten you killed.
it all seemed to happen in slow motion, really. one minute you’re smiling, the next there’s a bullet in your chest and you’re struggling to breathe. the blood is oozing freely from the wound, dribbling down from your mouth as you fall back with wide eyes and a terrified face.
y/n!” five yells, not recognizing his own voice as he quickly scoops you into his arms and desperately clutches you to his chest. “shit, shit, shit.”
“five?” you gurgle, and his eyes begin to well with tears.
“you’re going to be okay, you’re going to be fine,” five repeats over and over into your hair, and he’s not sure if this mantra is for him or for you.
he feels the warm liquid spreading in between your bodies, staining his jacket and seeping through your clothing. it’s so warm, it scares him, scares him as if it’s the first time he’s seen blood in his life.
he’ll never forget the strangled cry that left his mouth as he felt you slump against him, the sudden chill he got from the cold of your body. it was what kept him awake for several nights, what kept him going, what caused him to go rouge when he had learned of the commission’s true power, their true crimes. the blood on their hands, your blood on their hands. they’d pay.
~~~
“shit.”
after explaining what was basic science to his now much older siblings and coming up empty handed in his search for caffeine, five hardgreeves decided to take a drive. a scrawny thirteen year old driving a car would have been comical if not for the situation and stakes at hand.
griddy’s is the only place he can think of to go for a decent cup of coffee, and he hopes it’s still there. and it is. it’s comforting to know that some things have remained the same since his departure into the future with you..
it’s almost empty when he walks in, except for a truck driver at the front and a girl at the very back in her own booth. books are scattered around her, a clear sign of procrastination. she reminds him a lot of-
“Y/N?” five asks bewildered. you peek up at the sound of your name, eyebrows furrowing in confusion at the sight of a stranger asking for you.
“do i know you?” you ask and shrink back against the booth as he approaches quickly. this boy you’ve never met before may be cute, but he’s approaching like a mad man.
“y-you’re here, you’re alive!”
“last i checked,” you say with an uneasy laugh. “h-how do i know you?”
“it’s a long story, i’ll explain it as we go home,” he rushes, grabbing hold of your wrist that you quickly pull back.
“go back?? i-i don’t know you!” you sputter. he sighs annoyed, impatient. he knows it’s not your fault that you have no idea who he is, but he doesn’t have a lot of time to waste.
the bells over the door chime, and five is on alert immediately. he thought he’d have more time before they found him.
“listen, i know you don’t know me, but i need you to get under the table right now, okay? you’ll be safe.”
you didn’t have time to protest as he was shoving you under. but as you watched the next scene unfold in front of you, you were suddenly very grateful you had chosen the corner booth that night.

If you wrote anything George Luz, Joe Liebgott, or Joe Toye I would be forever happy :)
Oof tough choice, they’re all great! I’m going to go with my sweet boy, Joe Toye. Sorry this took a hot second to write, I’ve had a bit of a tough weekend but I won’t trouble you with the details. Writing this did cheer me up, though! I listened to “Oh, Pretty Woman” by Roy Orbinson while writhing this so if you want to listen to it while reading, be my guest. (also this turned out to be a lot longer than I intended it to be but oh well). Enjoy!
Only For You
Tumblr media
Pairing: Joe Toye x Reader
Warnings: Fluff, slight jealous!Joe, soft!Joe, some swearing. I think that’s it.
Word count: 1578 (sorry it’s a bit long)
He would never admit it, but Joe Toye had the biggest crush on you. The moment he saw you in line for dinner one of the first nights at Toccoa, he fell. Hard. You had sat next across from him that night and had sparked up a conversation with him about your mutual dislike towards your commanding officer. Since then, you both have remained close. You were so intelligent and level headed, yet you had spunk that could rival Nixon at times. Not to mention you were incredibly sweet and caring towards others. And that smile, Jesus Christ, that smile. Everytime you smiled, he just about died.
Of course, you didn’t know that he felt like this, but the entire company knew. All of Easy company’s men were sick and tired of him beating around the bush. So, a plan was hatched.
It was one of the few times that Sobel hadn’t revoked everyone’s weekend passes, so the men were released from the confines of camp to have a night on the town.
Joe sat up at a bar with Bill Guarnere, George Luz, and Donald Malarkey.
“And so I took ‘em.” George finished his story, sipping his beer languidly.
“You took his pants?” Bill quirked a brow at his friend.
“Yep.”
“All of ‘em?” Joe chuckled.
“Absolutely.” George nodded.
“Well where’d ya put ‘em?” Malarkey asked, sitting on the edge of his seat. George shrugged, looking preoccupied as he checked his watch.
“Well I wanted to hide them so he couldn’t find, but hiding them with my stuff seemed too obvious… so I put ‘em at the bottom of Perconte’s foot locker.” George snickered.
“That’s why Webster isn’t comin’ out tonight? Because he ain’t got no pants?” Bill hooted in laughter, the other men joining him. George nodded, taking another sip from his beer.
“You are too much, Luz.” Joe said, shaking his head.
“Hey, he was the one who hid my P.T. gear and left me no choice but to run Currahee in full gear. He thought he was so funny, seeing me sweat my ass off. Who’s Mr. Funny Guy now, huh?” George muttered. He was about to say something else but was cut off by a loud cheer from behind him. The group of men turn to see you walk into the bar, a smile spread across your face.
Joe felt himself blush. For the first time he saw you out of P.T. gear and green jumpsuits. Tonight you wore your dress greens, your skirt stopping just above the knee and he thought your hair was done up real nice. You smiled and waved as you started to walk towards him, but you were suddenly swept away by Skip.
“Hey, Y/N, wanna play some pool? They’ve got a table and everything.” He said, throwing an arm over your shoulder and guided you to the other side of the bar.
“Aw, Skip, I’d love to, but I don’t know how to pla-” You tried to explain but Skip insisted.
“Sure you know how, I’ll teach you. Come on, the table is right over there.” Skip pushed you along, but before he could disappear into the crowd, he threw a very obvious wink over his shoulder and a thumbs up.
Joe sighed and took a swig of his drink. He was so close to spending the evening with you. Now, there you were playing pool with Skip. He should be the one playing pool with you. Not Skip. He bet that Skip could barely play pool, Joe would be a much better teacher. Joe glanced at the guys to see that they were all staring at him expectantly.
“What? Do I got somethin’ on my face?” Joe’s hand went to wipe his face.
“When are you gonna tell her?” Bill grinned.
“Tell her? Tell her what? I have no idea what the hell your talkin’ about, Guarnere.” Joe sputtered out. George smiled.
“You like her.” He said in a teasing tone, slowly reaching out to poke him. Joe swatted his hand away.
“Touch me and I cut it off.” Joe snarled.
“Someone’s suddenly very defensive.” Malarkey observed, making Joe shoot him a look.
Then he glanced over at you. You were watching Skip play out his turn. She looked up from Skip to meet Joe’s eyes. He immediately averted his gaze back to his drink.
“So when are you going to ask her out?” George was practically buzzing. Joe scoffed.
“I’m not.”
“What do ya mean your not? You crazy?” Bill exclaimed, gesturing to you across the room. “She’s totally into you, how can you not see that?”
“Don’t point, she’ll see!” Joe hissed, his eyes flicking frantically between his friend and you at the pool table. Bill threw his arm down.
“Do you want me to ask her for you?” Bill smirked.
“Dear God, please no.” Joe paled
“I’ll do it.”
“Fuck, Guarnere, I swear to Christ-“
“Hey Y/N!” Bill called over the crowd. You averted your gaze up to Bill. “C’mere! I gotta tell ya somethin’.”
Before you could make your way over, Joe leaped from his bar stool to meet you halfway. There was no way he was going to let Guanere ruin this for him.
“Hey Joe! How’re you doin?” You giggles at his eagerness. He shrugged.
“Oh not too bad, wanna go for a walk? It’s kinda stuffy in here.”
“But Bill said he-“
“Aw forget about ‘im. It was stupid anyway, c’mon.” He gently grabbed your hand and lead you through the crowd and out of the bar.
Once you both were outside, the sudden change from the sounds of the busy bar to the almost deafeningly peace outside made you both laugh.
“So how’d you like pool?” Joe quiried, slowly starting to make his way down the sidewalk. You shrugged, walking close behind him.
“It’s alright, I guess. Skip isn’t really that great at explaining stuff. I was kinda glad Bill called me over when he did. Skip had just explained the rules and I still didn’t have a clue as to how to play.” You laughed, making Joe smile.
“If you want me to, I could teach you sometime?” Joe blurted out without really thinking. He cleared his throat and shrugged. “I mean, only if you want to, of course. Or I could teach you poker? You like card games? I know a ton of card games we could-”
“Joe?”
“Yeah?”
“Are you okay? You seem a bit nervous.”
“Me? No. You?”
“Not when I’m with you, I’m not.” You blushed as the words left your mouth. Joe blamed the color rising in your cheeks on the cold breeze. It had to be.
“Are you cold? Do you want my jacket?” He made quick work of taking his jacket off before you could protest.
“Joe, it’s fine I’m not-oh!” He wrapped the jacket around your shoulders, the article of clothing practically swallowing you. You flushed a deeper red, pulling the coat closer to you. “Thanks Joe.”
“My pleasure.” He smiled. Out of the blue he leans in and pecks your cheek.
Your eyes go wide and stare at him in shock as he pulls away. His eyes are just as wide, his hand going to cover his mouth.
“I’m sorry, I don’t know where that came from.” He whispered so quickly you had to strain to hear him. But you did.
“Is big bad Joe Toye goin’ soft?” You teased with a smirk blooming on your lips, poking him his chest with your index finger. He chuckled, shrugging and stuffing his hands in his pockets.
“Only for you.”
You smiled at his words. In a moment of bravery, you took a step closer to him, leaned up and pecked him softly on the lips with your palms laying against his broad chest. You felt him freeze for a moment, but it was just for a moment. He wrapped his right arm around your waist, pulling you as close as he could, and his left hand cupped you cheek affectionately. When you pulled away, you were both smiling. His faltered for a moment.
“Don’t tell the guys. Not yet anyway. It’s just, they’d-”
He was cut off by hooting and hollering coming from the bar. You both whipped your heads to see Malarkey, Luz, Guarnere, Skip, Penkala, and several others at the porch step of the bar cheering and whistling.
“Yeeeaah Joe!”
“‘S ‘bout time!”
“Atta boy!”
You couldn’t help but laugh a little as you lean your head on his chest with a sigh.
“Looks like they already know.” He shrugged at your words.
“Well now that they know, wanna remind them?”
You glanced up at him, quirking a brow.
“What?-” He cut you off with a searing kiss. His hands held your waist gently to hold you in place while you threw your hands around his neck. You smiled into the kiss before pulling away.
“A reminder or a warning?” You whispered, your lips still lingering on his. He smirked, pressing a kiss to your jaw before whispering back.
“Let them decided that.” A kisses on your cheek. “Let’s see,” a kiss to temple. “Who’s brave enough,” a kiss to your forehead. “To mess with,” a kiss to your nose. “My,” a kiss to the corner of your mouth. “Girl.” he finishes by pressing a peck to your lips.
“Your girl?” You smirk.
“My girl.” He smiled.
“I like the sound of that.”

Summary:
Eddie and Richie embark on the most terrifying experience of all—parenthood. Or, the author desperately needed a domestic, family fix-it for Richie and Eddie and it turned into a much longer, angstier exploration than I expected.
Chapter VII: Eddie struggles while he and Richie search for answers about their daughter. But perhaps there's light in the darkness.
Tumblr media
“This is crazy,” Eddie muttered, straightening and walking away from the desk. “Absolutely fucking crazy.”
“Eds, come on,” Richie implored him, turning away from the open laptop screen where Mike’s face gazed up at him. “This is interesting stuff.”
“Interesting but bullshit.”
“You don’t know that,” Richie insisted.
“No, but I do know our daughter isn’t a fucking science experiment,” Eddie declared, whirling around, his hands waving wildly. “This is real life, not that show on Netflix.”
Richie sighed as Mike hurriedly said, “I’m not saying Tess is that, I’m just saying, we have evidence of children with...with…”
“Powers?” Eddie provided, raising an eyebrow. “Like fucking Superman or something? Come the fuck on.”
“Charlie McGee claimed to start exhibiting pyrokinetic abilities as a toddler,” Mike said, flipping through a stack of papers. “It’s all right here in that Rolling Stone article from 1980.”
“And in the same article, it’s explained that her parents were mentally ill drug addicts and that the ‘explosion’ she caused with her mind was from an anti-government terrorist attack, Mike,” Eddie continued. “It says it right there in the link you sent us. Besides, even if this is true, our daughter isn’t exactly setting things on fire with her mind.”
“No, but I did find something that sounds an awful lot like what Tess is doing,” Mike continued.
“She’s doing nothing but being a kid,” Eddie said, exasperated. He looked at Richie. “I’m done with this. You want to stay up all night talking conspiracy theories and thinking our daughter is something out of The X-Files, go ahead, but I’m not listening to anymore of this.”
“Why not?” Richie begged. “How is any of this any crazier than what we went through?”
Eddie closed his eyes and sighed, a prickling of fear spreading through his body. It had to be crazy, it had to be, because if it wasn’t, then Pennywise wasn’t the worst of what this universe was capable of.
“Here,” Mike said suddenly, “I’m sending you some more links.”
A new email appeared in Richie’s inbox and he quickly opened it, clicking the first link. It was an article from an academic journal.
“The fuck’s this?” Richie mumbled, trying to make sense of the scholarly jargon in the first paragraph.
“There’s a girl out there, well, a teenager, and she has exhibited a lot of the same things Tess has done,” Mike explained. “She’s been studied by several different universities and they all admit, no one has given such accurate results in multiple tests.”
“Tests in what?” Richie asked.
“ESP, telepathy, clairvoyance, even astral projection,” Mike said, sounding terribly excited. “And she’s not the only one. She claims there are others like her out there.”
“That’s it,” Eddie groaned, rubbing at his eyes, “I’m going to bed. You and Mike have fun. I’ll handle the Tooth Fairy tonight since you’re so busy.”
Richie waved his hand distractedly as he squinted at the screen, clearly engrossed with the article. Eddie rolled his eyes, said good night to Mike, and walked out of their home office. He glanced at his watch. It was near midnight. He hadn’t stayed up this late on purpose in a long fucking time.
Quietly, he inched into Lydia’s room and reached into his pocket for his wallet. She was fast asleep, starfished on her bed, and Eddie allowed himself a relieved smile. He glanced at her nightstand, on which sat a piece of paper with the words FOR THE TOOTH FAIRY written on it in crayon with an arrow pointing to said tooth. Eddie was once again grateful he had had the forethought years ago to insist that the Tooth Fairy was too busy to go digging under pillows all night. Quickly, he slipped the dollar bill in the tooth’s place and, just a quickly, crept out of her room and down the hall.
He passed the office, and could hear Richie and Mike talking behind the closed door. His shoulders drooped, and he fought the desire to walk in there and demand Richie stop freaking himself out and come to bed. But Eddie had the sneaking suspicion Richie needed this, even if it was all bullshit.
And it had to be. It was bad enough they lived in a world where an ageless entity from space could terrorize children, erase their memories, and know their deepest fears. Eddie had to draw the line somewhere. Superheroes, magic, whatever, didn’t exist. His daughter was just that; his daughter. A little girl...with just an odd ability that had to have a somewhat rational explanation.
He opened his hand and gazed down at the tooth in his palm. He sighed, went to their closet, and found the leather travel bag. He unzipped it, took out the tiny jar, unscrewed the top and placed the tooth in it. He returned the jar and bag back to the closet. He still found it a somewhat creepy practice to keep their daughter’s baby teeth but Richie had insisted it was totally normal (“Besides, she can make a necklace out of them when she gets older, Eds!”).
Eddie closed the closet door and turned towards the bed. It looked terribly inviting. He was about halfway to collapsing in it when the door creaked open, and a little face peeked through.
“Tess?” he said softly. He headed to the door and opened it fully. “What are you doing up, sweetheart? It’s the middle of the night.”
“Daddy,” she whispered, her voice thin.
“What is it?” he asked, crouching down. “Did you have a bad dream?”
Her mouth fell open, and for a split second, Eddie thought she was about to vomit. Instead, she slumped, as if she was a marionette whose strings had just been cut. She remained standing, but her eyes dimmed and her body appeared boneless.
“Tess? Tess, answer me,” Eddie said firmly, gripping her little arms as cold fear gripped his heart. “Tess, sweetheart, look at me. Answer me.”
A great shuddering gasp escaped her and this time, her legs gave out fully. He gathered her into his arms and stood, repeating her name desperately.
“Daddy,” she repeated, slurring slightly and her head lolling, “Papa’s...get ‘im.”
“Tess, baby, just breathe with me and keep your eyes open, okay?” Eddie hurried to the office and kicked open the door. Richie jumped and immediately paled when he saw Tess languid in his arms.
“Oh, God, Tess, Tess,” he gasped, rushing up to his husband and daughter. “Tess, look at me, please, kiddo.” “Get your car keys, and wake Lydia, we’re taking her back to the hospital,” Eddie said, shifting her in his arms.
Tess turned her bleary gaze to Richie. She reached out for him.
“Papa,” she mumbled.
“I’m right here, baby,” Richie said, his voice thick, taking her little face in his shaking hands.
“You…” she shuddered, blinked, and all at once, was their daughter again, her eyes clear and her voice strong. She burst into tears. “You almost flew away!” she wailed, as she all but launched herself out of Eddie’s arms and threw her own around Richie’s neck. Both men stumbled.
“Tess, I…” Richie looked at Eddie over her head, his own eyes wide and frightened. “I’m right here. It’s okay, kiddo, I’m right here. Are you alright? Does your head hurt or something?”
“Don’t fly away,” she begged through tears.
“Hold her,” Eddie said and maneuvered her into Richie’s arms. “I’m starting the car. We’re going to the hospital.”
“What was that?” Richie demanded over Tess’s sobs. “Another seizure?”
“I don’t know what it was,” Eddie said. “But I’m not waiting for another one.”
Pennywise couldn’t have been all-knowing, Eddie realized, because if It had, It would’ve shown Eddie and Richie this—their daughter sedated and lying, helpless and vulnerable, on the table before the yawning mouth of an MRI machine. This was worse than the leper or Paul Bunyan’s grinning razor-sharp teeth; worse than losing your childhood memories—because now, now they were really fucking helpless.
“It’ll take about ten days before we get the results back,” the neurologist explained. “And she’ll definitely be feeling the effects of the sedation afterwards. She should spend the next twenty-four hours resting.”
“Neither of us are working today,” Eddie muttered, clutching the shitty, cold coffee a nurse had given him earlier. He glanced back at Richie, but he was clearly lost inside his own head and not listening. He was sitting in a seat against the wall as they waited for the procedure to finish. Lydia—poor, patient Lydia who had been woken up in the middle of the night and thrilled by the sight of a dollar bill on her night stand, only to be told to put on her shoes, they were going to the hospital—was curled up, asleep in his lap, his jacket around her protectively.
Eddie sighed and rubbed at his forehead. The MRI technician smiled sympathetically at him.
“I know it seems to take forever,” he said, “but we’re nearly done.”
Eddie nodded. He was familiar with the process, having gone through it when the migraines became too much. Myra had insisted on second and third opinions. Eddie clenched his eyes shut and shook his head. The idea of Tess waking up after an MRI only to have Myra, or worse, his mother, waiting for her turned his stomach.
“How can she sleep through all that banging?” Richie muttered suddenly. Eddie remembered that Richie had never even seen an MRI machine until now.
“It’s loud, I know,” the technician said gently, “but between the earplugs and sedation, she doesn’t notice a thing.”
If he had said that to make them feel better, it only did the opposite. Eddie stood and stepped towards Richie, brushing his husband’s hair off his forehead.
“You need a haircut,” he muttered.
Richie glanced up and somehow, smiled.
“That’s the least of what I need right now,” he sighed.
Eddie leaned down and kissed the top of his head, uncaring that the technician was less than three feet away. Richie smiled again and for a moment, Eddie thought that if he could keep Richie smiling, then maybe they could get through this.
Recovery rooms had always been Eddie’s least favorite part of a hospital. He hated the waiting, the fact that you were trapped with other patients, that you had virtually no privacy. But now, he especially hated that they were surrounded by other children and their families, all nervous and on-edge.
Tess was one of the lucky ones. She hadn’t gone through surgery, but the doctor still wanted her to sufficiently recoup from the sedation before she went home. Richie and Eddie were miserable.
Eddie sighed and shifted Lydia, still sleeping, in his arms. Richie had needed a break and also desperately wanted to hold Tess’s hand as she slept. Eddie remembered how despondent he had been when he had woken up after surgery in Derry, only to discover he was the one patient in the recovery room without any visitors waiting for him. It was only later that he discovered the doctors had not allowed a single Loser in, seeing as they were not family and not listed as an emergency contact. Luckily, Mike knew one of the nurses, and when Eddie was transferred back to his own room, they were all there, beaming at him—except for Richie, who still looked terrified, as if certain he was gazing at a mirage.
“She looks so tiny,” Richie suddenly whispered.
Eddie blinked and turned his gaze to his youngest daughter, her little chest rising and falling steadily. He nodded.
“Even tinier than when we first got her,” he agreed.
“She was underweight,” Richie continued, his thumb running over her little hand. “Remember how light she was?”
Eddie nodded again and rested his cheek on the top of Lydia’s head. He closed his eyes and immediately saw Tess in their doorway, hours earlier. He sighed.
“She looked like you,” he whispered. Richie turned towards him, confusion on his face. “During her seizure tonight. She looked like you when you were caught…” he lowered his voice, “when you were in the deadlights.”
Richie swallowed.
“Maybe that’s what she saw,” he replied quietly.
“The deadlights?”
“No, me,” Richie said, reaching with his other hand to stroke Tess’s hair. “She said, don’t fly away. Maybe she saw me in the deadlights, too.”
Out of the corner of his eye, Eddie noticed movement. He glanced over, and spotted a nurse hovering across the room, who quickly looked away. Eddie frowned. He doubted the nurse could overhear them, but he felt nervousness form in the pit of his stomach. Perhaps he was a fan of Richie’s, but surely no nurse would dare approach him in a recovery room, right?
“Eddie, that girl Mike told us about,” Richie whispered, his eyes wide, “I think you should read what he sent.”
“Rich, not now, please.”
“It sounds like...like this is real. She’s seeings things from before she was born. How is that possible?”
Eddie spotted the nurse again, who was making quite a show of reading a chart a few beds away. Eddie frowned.
“Can we at least wait for the MRI results before we jump to conclusions?” he begged.
Richie followed his gaze and spotted the hovering nurse, too. He swallowed and looked back down at their sleeping daughter.
“Alright, Eds,” he sighed. “Whatever you say.”
The next ten days went by in a blur of family visits and constant check-ins from the Losers. Apparently when a small child gets her brain scanned, it’s all hands on deck. Richie’s parents and sister babysat, brought food, and distracted the girls while Eddie and Richie walked around in a daze, waiting for the results that could potentially change their lives.
Mike Facetimed everyday, never bringing up any of his research, but simply listening. Bill, stuck in Europe with limited wifi on a movie shoot, sent goofy videos and uplifting emails when he could. Bev called multiple times a day and Ben fucking flew in, because he was just that sort of kind-hearted bastard.
“Bev can’t get away from work until Sunday,” he explained gently. The results were due to come in on Friday. “She wanted to be here.”
“It’s fine,” Richie said, faking a smile. “You guys are acting like this is a wedding. We’re just getting a bunch of paperwork telling us what the fuck is going on in our daughter’s brain. No big deal.”
Ben offered one of his patented You’re making jokes about being sad and that’s sad faces and Richie just shrugged.
“We’re glad you’re here,” Eddie admitted softly. “Besides, Lydia’s thrilled.”
“That’s true,” Richie said, “Lyds loves you, Ben. I think she wants you and Bev to adopt her.”
Ben laughed gently and ran a hand through his hair.
“Tess still needs to warm up to me,” he said.
“Tess still needs to warm up to me,” Richie shot back.
Eddie rolled his eyes.
“She adores you, Rich,” he said, brewing another pot of coffee. “She even lets you read to her now.”
“Yeah, Berenstain Bears, not Dr. Seuss,” Richie muttered. “I hate the fucking Berenstain Bears.”
Ben laughed and squeezed Richie’s shoulder affectionately.
“Having kids seems a lot more complicated than I thought,” he admitted.
“Trust me, man, you have no idea,” Richie said, scrubbing his hand over his face.
Friday came in a blink. Ben and Richie’s sister Sarah watched the girls while Richie and Eddie went to get the results. They drove together in tense silence, waited in the waiting room silently, and when they were finally called into the office, still said very little.
Later, Eddie would realize that for something that caused such overwhelming anxiety for so long, it was all very anticlimactic. The results showed nothing in Tess’s brain. Once again, the doctor insisted there was no physical reason for her apparent seizures. It was good news...right?
As they walked out, stunned and exhausted, both men were lost in their own thoughts. Eddie felt weak with relief but he still couldn’t get the image of his daughter in that MRI machine. Time to make another appointment with his therapist, he figured.
By the time he reached the door, he suddenly realized Richie was not beside him. He turned around and spotted Richie down the hall, hurrying after him.
“Where were you?” Eddie asked tiredly.
“Nowhere, nothing,” Richie said quickly. “Let’s go home.”
“Rich?”
“I wanna see the girls,” Richie continued, rushing through the doors.
Eddie sighed and shook his head, following his husband.
“But that’s good news!” Ben exclaimed when they got home. “Isn’t it?”
“It is,” Eddie said, running a hand through his hair. “I mean, she has nothing physically wrong in her brain so thank God. But we still don’t have clear answers.”
Sarah frowned and shook her head.
“There has to be one,” she insisted. “Did they talk about medication or anything?”
“A bit,” Eddie sighed. “I just...something about it feels wrong. I can’t explain it.”
“What does Richie think?” Ben asked.
“I...I don’t know,” Eddie admitted.
“Where is Richie?” Sarah asked, suddenly looking around her. She peeked into the living room where Lydia was playing with the Wii. “Lyds, did you see where your dad went?”
“I think he’s in Tess’s room,” she answered. “Aunt Sarah, it’s your turn to play. You promised.”
“I know but—”
“Please,” Lydia begged, putting on her best puppy dog eyes.
Sarah sighed but smiled affectionately. “Duty calls,” she said, and walked into the living room.
“I should go check on Richie,” Eddie said tiredly.
“Sure,” Ben said before placing his arm on Eddie’s shoulder. “Listen, you don’t have to tell me anything you don’t want to, but is there something else going on? Like, you and Richie don’t seem...yourselves.”
Eddie tried to offer a smile but Ben saw right through it. He looked genuinely concerned and Eddie had to admit, it was nice to have someone else worry, too.
“It’s fine, we’re just...figuring this out,” he admitted softly. “I’ll be right back.”
He walked down the hall and knocked on Tess’s half-opened door. He peeked in. Richie was sitting on her bed with Tess on his knee, speaking quietly to her.
“You two okay?” he asked.
“Eds, come here,” Richie said quickly. “And close the door.”
Eddie did so with a sense of unease. He stepped towards the bed and gazed down at his husband and daughter expectantly. Richie turned back to Tess.
“Now, kiddo, tell Daddy what you told me,” he said gently. “Just the same.”
“Okay,” Tess said, shrugging as she looked up at Eddie. “‘Member when I fell down?”
Eddie huffed a laugh.
“Yes, I definitely remember that, sweetheart,” he said.
“Well,” Tess began, fiddling with the hem of her shirt, “I fell because Papa fell and it hurted.”
“Papa fell?”
She nodded vigorously.
“Yep, he was flying,” she said. She turned back to Richie. “How come you don’t fly at home?”
Richie shook his head.
“Because I can’t really fly,” he admitted.
“But you did in the cave.”
“I wasn’t flying,” Richie explained gently. “I was floating.”
A wave of nausea rolled in Eddie’s stomach.
“Richie, stop this,” he insisted.
“Wait, listen, go on, Tess. Tell Daddy the rest.”
“Daddy saved you,” she said, shrugging. “And then Daddy got hurted. And you was sad but now it’s okay.”
“Yes, it’s all okay now,” Richie agreed, kissing her on her forehead. “Why did Daddy float?”
“‘Cause of the light. Aunt Bev saw it, too,” she answered nonchalantly. “Can I have a snack?”
“Of course you can,” Richie said happily, hugging her tightly before placing her on her feet. “Go on, Aunt Sarah and Uncle Ben are in the kitchen.”
She rushed out. Richie and Eddie stared at one another.
“You can’t deny it, Eds,” Richie said, his voice oddly light. “She sees our past. I don’t know how or why, but she does.”
Eddie swallowed and suddenly realized his hands were shaking. He closed them into fists.
“It?” he whispered.
Richie shook his head.
“I don’t think so,” he said. “This is something else. Like something you’re born with.”
“Richie…”
“And earlier, at the hospital, a nurse stopped me,” he said, standing and reaching into his pocket. “He was in the recovery room with us last week. I saw him looking over at us and I thought he was just being a dick but he heard us. He stopped me on our way out today and gave me this.”
He pulled a crumpled piece of paper out and handed it to Eddie. Eddie looked down at an unfamiliar name.
“What’s this supposed to be?” he asked.
“He said he used to work with this guy, he has what Tess has,” Richie said excitedly.
“For fuck’s sake,” Eddie sighed. “This could just be a crazy person. That nurse could be a crazy person.”
“His name is in one of the articles Mike sent us,” Richie insisted. “About that girl.”
“And? What are we supposed to do about it?”
“We can reach out to them.”
“No fucking way,” Eddie said, raisng his voice in shock. “You wanna read articles or look up theories on the Internet, fucking fine, but there is no way we are opening ourselves to some fucking lunatics. Especially when it comes to our daughter.”
“I’m not saying we introduce Tess to them, I’m saying we ask some questions.”
“Absolutely not,” Eddie hissed.
“So what do you want to do?” Richie asked angrily. “Wait around until this happens again? Throw some meds at her and hope for the best?”
Eddie threw his hands up and turned away.
“This is crazy, Rich, totally fucking crazy,” he gasped.
“Eds—”
A knock at the door. Ben stuck his head in.
“You guys want lunch or something?” Ben asked gently. “Tess and Lyds are hungry.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Richie said, taking a deep breath. “We’ll be right there.”
He nodded, gave a penetrating look at his two friends, and left. Richie stood and gazed down at Eddie, his eyes soft. He took Eddie’s face in his hands, caressing his cheekbones with this thumbs.
“We need to figure this out,” he whispered, “and I can’t do it alone.”
Eddie sighed, closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and nodded. He didn’t see Richie smile but he felt it in his kiss.
Life went back to normal—or as normal as it ever was in the Tozier household. Bev still offered to fly out but there wasn’t any point, so after thanking him profusely and offering to visit soon, Richie and Eddie sent Ben back home to his wife. He looked oddly reluctant to leave, but he hugged his two friends tightly and told them he loved them before his flight. Eddie caught Richie blinking rapidly before turning away.
Sarah still visited often, along with Richie’s mother, but they had their own responsibilities, too. And, as far as the medical world as concerned, Tess was physically fine.
Soon, they had less than a week until the new school year, and the Tozier family was busy. Last minute supplies had to be bought, schedules finalized, Tess reassured constantly about the safety and fun of preschool, and teachers informed about her seizures. The preschool took the information well, and assured them that they had plenty of experience with children with epilepsy. Richie and Eddie considered explaining that Tess did not have that, but let it go. Perhaps it was easier to pretend she had an ordinary diagnosis.
Lydia and Tess’s first days started together and, in an effort to make the preschool drop off as easy and meltdown-free as possible, Richie volunteered to take Tess alone. She’d still freak out but it wouldn’t be as violent if Eddie was there, they figured. Eddie agreed reluctantly. He hated the idea of his daughter breaking down at the front steps of the preschool, but he hated the idea of missing her first day even more.
“I’ll film everything,” Richie promised. “It’s only for half a day, anyway.”
Eddie nodded and finished packing her snacks and blanket. Lydia was practically vibrating with excitement, showing off her back to school outfits and re-organizing her Batman backpack. She was, both men had to admit, better at distracting and empowering Tess than they were. She spent their last day of summer vacation going on and on about the excitement of school, of how much fun she has with her friends and the nice teachers, and when Tess starts kindergarten next year, she’ll just love it.
Tess listened carefully and asked many questions. Lydia, always a fan of being in charge and all-knowing, was in her element. Eddie smiled and felt his heart twist as he watched his two daughters. Perhaps everything will be okay, he thought hopefully.
That night, he and Richie helped the girls wash up, change into their pjs, lay out their first day clothes, and climb into bed. Lydia needed very little encouragement and simply kissed them both good night before asking for her copy of Ramona Quimby, Age 8, and promising not to stay up late reading. They left her room, content in the knowledge that Lydia was quite fearless and adept at rolling with the punches.
In their younger daughter’s room, Richie tucked Tess into her bed, her night light on and her eyes heavy. Eddie brushed her hair from her face and she smiled sleepily.
“You’re going to have a great day tomorrow,” he said gently.
“Yeah, you’re going to have so much fun,” Richie agreed. “I can’t wait to hear all about it.”
Tess yawned.
“Yep,” she said, “a good day.”
“And you’re so smart and brave,” Richie continued. “You’re gonna blow everyone away tomorrow.”
“I know,” Tess replied, rubbing at her eye with the back of her hand. “‘M not scared. ‘M not scared of anything anymore.”
“Good,” Eddie said, impressed. Lydia should become a motivational speaker, he thought briefly. “You have nothing to be afraid of.”
“Nope,” Tess replied. “The nice girl showed me.”
Unease, like a blanket, fell over Richie and Eddie. They glanced at one another, both frozen. Richie licked his lips and swallowed before asking, “What girl?”
“The girl who visited me,” she yawned. “She showed me lots.”
“What did she show you?” Eddie whispered, terrified of the answer.
“Magic,” Tess replied, closing her eyes. “She says I’m magic, too.”
“Tess…”
She smiled as her breathing slowly evened out, and they knew she was falling asleep.
“She says I shine like her,” Tess whispered.

After Archenemies Part 4/?
ngl I had trouble writing this part. It’s not my favorite piece, but I think it’s necessary for the continuation and flow of the story. I like it to an extent, let’s say that. im just not the biggest fan bc there’s no action lmao. anyways, enjoy!
here’s part 1, here’s part 2, and here’s part 3
Adrian couldn't tear his eyes from the screen. They were glued on the picture of the younger Nova, a happier Nova.
“No,” he murmured. “That...that can’t be Nova. Her last name is McLain. She was taken in by her uncle. She’s...she’s not missing.” He forced himself to let go of the computer mouse. Ruby turned her gaze to him, Oscar too. Their looks were sad, filled with the same disbelief as Adrian.
Ruby reached out for Adrian’s arm, but he pulled back. “Adrian…maybe there’s an explanation and we’re just jumping to conclusions, but that,” she waved her hand at the computer screen, ”is Nova.”
Adrian knew she was right. Everything lined up. Nova lost her family to a hitman when she was six, she had had a baby sister named Evie, and the girl in the photo was undeniably her.
“Maybe Nova was kidnapped by the man she thinks is her uncle,” Oscar mused. Adrian could tell he was trying to brighten the darkened moods of the three of them. “Forced to change her last name. That would explain why we’ve never met her uncle.”
Ruby shot Oscar a look. “Well, that is an explanation, but not a very good one.”
“Just trying to help.” Oscar raised his arms in defense. After a moment, he said “What should we do? Talk to the Council?”
“No,” Adrian said before thinking twice. He felt himself blush. “I mean...not yet. We don’t know too much about any of this. They wouldn’t do anything about it. I think...I think we need to   keep doing research. For all we know, it could be a fault in the system.”
“And then?” Ruby raised an eyebrow.
Adrian took a shaky breath. “And then we talk to Nova about it.”
Oscar and Ruby exchanged glances, and Adrian was reminded of his dads and how they would give one another similar looks. They didn’t say anything, much to Adrian’s relief. He returned to his chair, his hand shaky as he reached for his mouse.
They stayed in the library for another two hours, collecting information about what they knew about Nightmare. Adrian refused to think about Nova and what they had learned about her past. The picture of her and her sister still haunted his mind, making it hard to focus. He was able to make a list of places Nightmare was spotted at most. The majority were dated back to months ago, before she became a real threat. They were mostly hardware and convenience stores that she robbed. Adrian made a mental note to ask the store owners what she would often steal.
When the librarian walked by for the umpteenth time, she ushered them out, insisting that they do something more fun than research since they had been there for so long.
“Anyone up for a smoothie or something?” Oscar offered as the three of them walked down the hall, each holding notes of information. Adrian shook his head, shouldering the backpack he had brought with him.
“You guys go ahead. I think I’m going to head home.”
“You sure?” Oscar shot Adrian a worried look. “You going to be okay?”
Adrian pressed a smile to his face. “Yeah. I think I need some rest, though. With everything going on lately..” he trailed off, and his friends nodded in understanding. They said their goodbyes, and Adrian watched them go. It would be good for the two of them to get some alone time, anyways. Adrian had a mission of his own.
On his way out of HQ, Adrian peeked into Max’s quarantine. He could make out the hospital bed and the lump of blankets. In the lobby, prodigies were rebuilding and fixing the damage done by Nightmare’s fight with Frostbite’s team. Their work was faster than a normal person’s, but there was a lot of damage, and only so many prodigies with powers fit for reconstruction.
Cold air blew at his face as he stepped outside. The weather was changing fast this year. A shame, really. Adrian liked summer the most out of all the seasons. He walked past a group of tourists that gasped when they saw him. He heard the click of a camera and ignored it.
He immediately thought of Nova, despite trying not to, and how she had said people would be better off without the Renegades. How they either idolized or hated prodigies. Adrian remembered all the times he had come across Renegade merchandise. They were celebrities, whether they wanted to admit it or not. He shoved the thought away and pulled his jacket closer around himself.
It was a long walk to his destination. Adrian wondered how Nova managed to do it daily, multiple times a day. He thought of all the times she had been late and had to run. Adrian shook his head. That girl never ceased to amaze him.
Adrian didn’t know why he was going to Nova’s, especially considering the mental state he was currently in, and the fact that she told him not to stop by. He pictured the look on her face when he showed up unannounced. It wouldn’t be pretty, either. She hated surprises, after all. Maybe it would be best to text her…
No, her uncle took away her electronics. Maybe if Adrian brought something for her and explained the situation to her uncle.
Adrian stopped in his tracks on the sidewalk. He was walking through a small park near Nova’s neighborhood. There was a bench nearby. The park was mostly empty, so Adrian claimed the bench. He took off his backpack and set it beside him, pulling out his sketchpad and a pencil. He flipped to the most recent page. It was filled with sketches and dimensions of a ring he had drawn for Nova. he had been working on it in small bursts, especially on nights when he couldn't find sleep, which was more often than not in recent days. He had crossed out design after design, growing frustrated at the difficulty of designing  jewelry. Finally, the other night, he had come up with a design that was simple yet charming. It was a plain band with a white stone in the center, small but stately. A ring, he had come to realize, was an odd gift, but he had found resources online stating how much all girls loved rings. He disliked generalizing Nova with thousands of other girls, but the explanation he found was interesting: rings held significant meaning when given as a gift from someone the wearer cares about. Adrian had been wanting to give Nova something meaningful in the past few weeks to show how serious he was about her, but had struggled with finding something she would like. He had planned on giving it to her later, but maybe if he gave it to her now, it would brighten her mood, and give him an excuse to see her. He pulled the ring from the paper and quickly sketched a jewelry box for it. He pursed his lips, then, as an afterthought, also drew a Peony. With the ring now safe in the box and the flower clutched in his other hand, Adrian set off for Nova’s house again.
When he reached Nova’s street, Adrian’s hands grew clammy. When her house came into sight, he gulped. He remembered the last time he had showed up unannounced at Nova’s door. He remembered how he had cried into her stomach about Max. How she had held him. How he had stayed there for what seemed to be hours until she walked him home. How she had bid him goodnight for the second time before walking herself home. How he had watched her go until she was gone, not wanting her to leave him.
Adrian walked up the sidewalk to her front door, stepping over the overgrown grass that grew between the cracked concrete. From inside the house, he could hear voices, two to be exact. It was a man and a woman, and the woman sounded like she was crying. Adrian lowered the fist that was about to knock. His insides grew cold. What if he was at the wrong house? But no. One look at his map on his wristband told him he was at the right place. And Adrian remembered the way her house looked, as it was one of the only better kept looking houses of the street, although not by much.
He straightened when he heard Nova’s voice, too muffled for Adrian to understand what she was saying. Feeling awkward, Adrian knocked hesitantly on the door twice. The voices inside dropped, and Adrian heard movement. A few moments later, the door clicked and swung open, revealing Nova dressed in sweatpants and a loose tank top with holes along the seams. She wore no shoes on her feet, just a pair of old socks that didn’t match. Her hair was a mess, and her eyes were bloodshot. Despite not needing to sleep, she looked exhausted. She blinked at Adrian, as if she couldn’t tell if he was real or not.
Adrian had the absurd thought that she looked beautiful.
“What the hell are you doing here?” she hissed after getting over her shock, shooting a quick glance over her shoulder and pushing Adrian back so she could step out onto the porch and close the door behind her.
Adrian cleared his throat, although no words came out. He stared down at Nova, whose  expression had quickly changed to an angry one. “I...I um..I just wanted to give you something,” he finally got out, cheeks burning. “I know you told me not to stop by, but..” Unsure of what to do, Adrian held out the jewelry box and Peony. Nova looked down in surprise, mouth opening in a small ‘o’. Her face softened.
She took the box with two fingers and looked back up at Adrian. “Do you…” she licked her lips, drawing his attention to them. “Do you want me to open it now?”
Adrian scratched the back of his neck, eyes staring a hole into the ground. “Um...sure. If you want, that is. I don’t want to pressure you to do anything you don’t want to because-”
“Okay, I’ll open it.” Nova reached out her free hand to nudge Adrian’s chin. When he met her eyes again, they were a bit brighter than before. Some color had returned to her face. Adrian watched her open the box, bit his cheek as her mouth fell open again.
   “Adrian...this is…”
“I wanted to get you a gift,” Adrian explained. His throat had gone dry. “For um...to prove that my feelings for you are very, very real. And they’ve only grown more in the past few weeks. I guess this is also a thank you gift for being there for me through this whole Nightmare and Max stuff? If you don’t like it, I understand, it’s just-”
Nova interrupted him again by silencing him with her lips. She reached behind his neck and pulled him down to her height. He dropped the Peony and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her against him. She gasped, and the heat from her lips drove him crazy. He pushed her back until she was against the door, bathing in her touch and taste and scent as they kissed. He reached up and curled his hand in her hair. She responded with the softest moan, pushing closer to him.
A photo of a younger Nova holding an infant flashed through his head, and his eyes shot open. Nova continued to kiss him, and he responded, half-distracted. He forced his eyes closed again, forced himself to enjoy being so close to Nova. He kissed her harder, and she breathed his name against his lips, sending a shiver up his arms. He didn’t want to think about what Ruby had showed him earlier that day. Maybe he was making a mistake, but he wanted to believe that it was all a big misunderstanding, and that Nova was who she said she was. He wanted to believe that he was falling for someone that wasn’t keeping secrets. He told himself he would figure it out, but not now. Not when he had started to climb over the walls of Nova’s heart, or so he believed.
He could go on kissing her forever. All of their kisses were more amazing than the last. But eventually, they had to pull apart for air, much to his dismay.
“I love it,” Nova murmured, pressing a shaky peck to the corner of his mouth. “Thank you, Adrian. I...no one has ever given me a gift like this.”
“I thought you would need something to cheer you up.” Adrian cupped her cheek, and when they kissed again, it was much more gentle and relaxed. Adrian allowed himself to just hold her in that moment, savoring every soft caress of her lips against his.
A large bang followed by a crash came from inside, causing Nova to pull back and squirm out of Adrian’s arms. She looked back at the door, anger and conflict spread across her features. She turned back to Adrian, and the look softened.
“You should go.” She started to push him gently off the porch, although Adrian refused to move.
“Is everything alright in there?” He looked at the closed door. A movement caught his eye, and he tore his eyes to one of the windows just in time to see a curtain close and a flash of gold.
“Um...yeah!” Nova shook her head, but Adrian wasn’t convinced. He thought back to the crying voice he had heard before. “My uncle has a um….a client over. One of his new ideas.” She laughed nervously and tried to push Adrian back again.
“I thought he didn’t let people over when you’re sick.” Adrian raised a suspicious eyebrow.
“Well...yeah.” Nova bit her lip. “My friends. He can have guests over as long as I stay up in my room.” That didn’t explain why Adrian had heard her voice prior to him knocking on the door. He shook his head. Surely there was a reasonable explanation, but clearly Nova didn’t want to share it with him for whatever reason.
“Um...okay then. Can I at least ask how you’re feeling?” He crossed his arms.
Nova shot him a reassuring smile and pushed him again. This time, he allowed for her to lead him off the porch and onto the sidewalk. “Better because of you.” She reached up and kissed his cheek quickly. “Now, please leave if you want to live.” Her voice was light, but Adrian had an unnerving feeling that she wasn’t lying.
She turned to go back inside; Adrian grabbed her hand, swiveling her back to face him.
“Adrian, I’m serious,” she said, and he could tell from her tone that she meant it. “You need to leave.”
“I know, but…” He stumbled over his words then, forcing out what he had been wanting to say for weeks now. “Wiyoubemgirfriend?”
   She blinked. “What?”
Adrian took a shaky breath. His cheeks were on fire. “Will you be my girlfriend?” he got out slowly.
Nova’s cheeks brightened, and not from being sick. “Oh, um...was I not before?”
Adrian cracked a smile, shoulders relaxing slightly. “I just...wanted to ask. Officially. While I’m here.”
He didn’t get an answer immediately, which sent him into a panic again. His palm in her hand felt sweaty. He resisted the urge to pull back and wipe it on his jeans.
“Yeah,” she murmured, then stated louder, “Yeah. Um...totally.” She nodded and smiled genuinely up at him, and he returned it.
“Great. Awesome.” He leaned down and gave her one last kiss. “Get some rest,” he told her, which she responded with an eye roll and a snort. “I’m serious. Now get inside.”
“Bye, Adrian.” Nova squeezed his hand and let it go. “And thank you...for the um...the ring. I really do love it.”
Adrian waited until she was inside the house and he heard the clicking of a lock before turning and making his way home.
His communicator band buzzed. Odd, he didn’t think his team had anything going on.
   It was from Simon.
   Need you home right away.
Adrian froze on the sidewalk. He never, never got texts from either of his dads, as it was an unprofessional use of the issued communicator bands.
   Adrian sprinted home.
Nova closed the door behind her and leaned back, holding her head in her hands. Yeah? Totally? Great skies, she sounded like some lovestruck teenager.
   Which she was not.
Adrian Everhart was her enemy, and while she admitted to being more than just attracted to him, she had been trying to kill her feelings over the last few weeks. With Ace in the hands of the Renegades, it was dangerous to like Adrian Everhart. No, she had to stop her feelings for him, no matter how much it hurt.
She thought she had been doing good until he decided to show up unannounced and kiss her.
Well, she kissed him, technically, but it was his fault. He made her do it.
And Nova would not think about how it felt to be pinned between him and the door while he held her as if she were all that mattered in the world to him. She would not think about how he kissed her, and how much it made her insides turn to jelly.
She looked down at the ring that she had put on her middle finger, on the same hand as the bracelet from her dad. She let the jewelry box fall to the ground as she admired it. Honey’s words floated through her head then.
“They can offer you notoriety and a fancy pair of boots. They might even give you pretty gems like that bauble on your wrist.”
“What did your little boyfriend want?” Nova looked up to see Leroy walking into the room from the kitchen. Honey followed behind him, and there was a smug look covering the tear streaks on her face. She had been crying over Ace before Adrian knocked on the door, as she tended to do multiple times a week.
Nova blushed. “He’s not-” but she stopped herself, Because he was, at least technically. She agreed to make their relationship official, at least in the eyes of the Renegades and the public.
“Looks like I taught you well.” Honey sat down on the torn and rat-chewed couch in the living room. She curled a finger around her golden locks, shooting Nova a coy look. “You two had me weak in the knees. You looked like two lovers on a soap opera. It really is a shame he’s a Renegade.” She sighed. “At least you can have some fun with him, right?” At Nova’s appalled expression, she cackled. “Young love,” Honey teased with a roll of her eyes.
“You-you were...watching us?” Nova felt violated, disgusted. Not that her relationship with Adrian was real, so anything they did wasn’t genuine. What did it matter that Honey and Leroy had seen her rather hand-fanning-face short make out session with her fake boyfriend while she was in sweats?
“Well someone had to pull you apart.” Honey examined her nails, sniffling from her previous breakdown. Nova thought of the crash from before that made her and Adrian jump apart.
“That was you?” Nova crossed her arms. She was a little peeved at Honey. First watching them, and then being the cause for them to stop kissing.
“Enough, Honey Harper,” Leroy said sternly. Nova was about to thank him until he continued. “Let’s just hope Insomnia didn’t get her Renegade sick with that cold of hers.” He cracked a wry smile, and Honey burst into giggles.
Nova pushed past them. “If neither of you are going to take this seriously, then I’m going to grab my stuff and go to HQ.”
“Take what seriously, sweetie pie?” Honey gasped, unable to stop her laughter. “Your love life?”
Nova stopped at the staircase and turned back around to face them. There was amusement on both their faces. The hard set of Nova’s jaw loosened. It had been so long since she had seen them give a genuine smile. Not since Ace was captured. She took a deep breath and released it.
“Ace,” Nova said quietly. “Remember what we were talking about before A-the Renegade showed up?”
Honey stopped laughing. She wiped at her face, as if remembering she still had dried tears sticking to her cheeks.
“Yes, you’re right.” Leroy took a seat next to Honey, taking his time to get settled. Nova realized as she watched him how his age was catching up to him. He and Honey both, although Honey was more discreet about it. Still, Nova had noticed how Honey took her time getting to bed every night. Nova noticed the way Honey winced when lying down.
The Anarchists were weakening. Their numbers were small, allies were short, and bodies weren’t the same as they were a decade before. All except Nova, who was young and energetic.
    They needed to act quickly.
“We know he’s in Cragmoor, so there’s a very low chance we would even be able to get past the security. Not even my chemicals could get us very far.” Nova nodded her head at Leroy. They had established that already. Breaking into the prison that held prodigy criminals was a death sentence. They would only succeed in wiping out their numbers completely.
An idea popped into Nova’s head. Something Adrian had said the last time he was at her house. The night of the gala. After Max…
“What about when they make a public event out of neutralizing him? When he’s back in the city?” Nova asked. She didn’t want to think about Max. Not when he was still sitting in a hospital bed because of her.
   “That’s risky, Nova,” Leroy warned.
Nova sighed. “I know, but what if-”
“Don’t you remember the parade?” Honey snapped, standing up quickly. Fresh tears had brewed in her eyes and were threatening to fall. “You didn’t succeed then.”
Nova took a step back. She had lived with Honey long enough to know when to back off.
“Well, Winston didn’t exactly help,” she muttered.
“You still missed your target, Winston being there or not.” Honey crossed her arms. Nova mirrored the older woman.
“I could go to the event as Nightmare. Hide in the shadows. I could shoot Captain Chromium with an Agent N dart.”
“Nova, that would only reveal your position,” Leroy pointed out.
“Can I finish?” Nova narrowed her eyes at them. When neither spoke, she nodded. “Thank you.
“As I was saying, I could shoot the Captain. Everyone would go into a panic, whether I hit him or not. While everyone’s distracted, you two and Phobia can help Ace escape, and I can throw a few Agent N bombs into the crowd. Get rid of some Renegades.” The last bit made Nova’s stomach queasy, but what choice did she have? The Renegades were the enemy. They had created Agent N. It would be ironic to lose their powers to their own weapon, just like Frostbite’s team.
“That’s a lot of assuming.” Leroy stroked his chin thoughtfully. “And a lot of open holes for things to go wrong.”
“But what choice do we have, Leroy?” Nova leaned against the stair rail. “We can’t just let Ace rot away.”
Leroy sat in silence for a moment. Then, he got up suddenly and made his way to the kitchen. He waved for Nova to follow him.
“I’ve been studying his helmet.” Leroy explained when both Nova and Honey were in the room. He went to one of the cabinets and opened it. Inside, covered with fabric, was Ace’s helmet. “Back in the Age of Anarchy, Ace never let anyone touch his helmet.” He set it on the countertop. “I had always been curious of its elements and what made it so...special.”
Nova examined the helmet. It looked the same as it did the night when she had stolen it from headquarters. Her bracelet vibrated at her wrist, and she brought it up. It pulled towards the helmet.
Leroy hummed. “Very interesting. David’s pieces always worked in mysterious ways.”
Nova tugged her wrist back down, ignoring the buzz of energy from the bracelet. “What do you mean?”
“The helmet,” Leroy explained, “has special powers. When your father made it, he used metals that would enhance the wearer’s powers. Make them stronger. It explains why Ace could do what no telekinetic prodigy could do before him.”
“That doesn’t explain the bracelet.” Although Nova had an idea, and she didn’t like it.
“Your bracelet appears to be made of the same material.” Leroy took a step towards her and held out his hand. “May I see it?”
Hesitantly, Nova slipped off her bracelet and handed it to Leroy, who took it over to his microscope sitting among his temporary mess of a laboratory. It only took a moment of examining for him to nod and hand the bracelet back to Nova. She put it back around her wrist, feeling comfort in its presence.
“Just as I suspected.” Leroy sat in one of the kitchen chairs, sighing. “Although I can’t figure out that gem. What was it you said about it?”
Nova shrugged. “Some Renegade said it was worth a lot, but she’s a thief anyways. Anything to her is valuable.”
Honey tittered. “A thieving Renegade? How interesting.”
Leroy nodded. “Quite. If the Renegades aren’t as good as they make themselves out to be, I bet we could draw some over to our side.”
Nova thought of little Magpie, angry but still so young. She wasn’t much younger when she was taken in by Ace. By the time she had reached Magpie’s age, she had been robbed of a proper childhood, already exposed to the cruel world and bitter because of the unfairness of it all. She wouldn’t wish that life upon anyone, even on an unhappy Renegade such as Magpie who was forced to become a Renegade just as much as Nova was forced to become an Anarchist. “She’s just a child,” Nova explained. “Highly unlikely to persuade her when she hardly knows what persuasion is.”
“But if there’s one, there’s many, little Nightmare.” Honey rubbed her hands together. A bumblebee buzzed around her hair lazily.
“Back to the helmet.” Leroy cleared his throat, drawing their attention to him. “Your bracelet holds the same properties as it. Now, because it is much, much smaller, it only enhances your power a bit. Not near as much as the helmet would give.”
“So what are you suggesting, Leroy?”
Leroy held the helmet in one hand, weighing it in his palm. “I’m suggesting, little Insomnia, that you use it.”

The Cursed Side of This Family Chapter 5
(look here for chapter 4)         (look here for Chapter 6)
Slow burn, Tommy x Esme, grief, guilt, lust, drugs…What’s not to love?
In this installment, Esme has a sexy flashback...
Drifting in and out of sleep, Esme could not seem to find the rest that she needed. She was all out of smoke, and wouldn’t dare ask Tommy if he had any, even though she knew that he would sometimes use it to help him quiet his mind when nothing else would.
She got out of bed and tiptoed to the window. Drawing the lace curtain aside and looking down on watery lane, she recalled that this was not the first time that Thomas Shelby left her flushed, confused, and restless.
Her thoughts wandered back to an accidental late night meeting in Charlie’s yard. John had come home drunk, loud, and smelling of whores one too many times. Esme had practically thrown the baby into his arms and then stalked out the door, leaving him with a houseful of newly woken, bawling children. “Fuck you, Esme!” John slurred at her back as she walked away.
“It’ll be cold day in hell before you get the pleasure again,” she roared through gritted teeth as she stormed down the lane. Their relationship had always been odd. Fixed. Arranged. But, the spark of passion was there from the first night, for both of them, and it always hurt her when he strayed. They viciously fought, but making-up was always sweet. She knew that tomorrow morning he would pick a bouquet of wildflowers, bring her tea in bed, and put his head in her lap. He’d be all baleful looks and tears, begging for her forgiveness. As always, she would forgive him.
Tonight, however, Esme was full of devilment. She half considered going into the Garrison to even the score. There was no doubt she could find someone with which to spend the night.  She was not a conventional beauty, but she was sexy. A riot of wild black hair tumbled over her shoulders and down her back, her black eyes flashed under their sweeping lashes, and the curves of her body had only become more supple and pronounced in motherhood. She was everything a man could want in his bed, but she didn’t want any man’s bed. As easy as it would have been to make John pay for his indiscretions by knowing that she had fucked another man, she could never go through with it. Her heart wouldn’t let her, and it would be as good as a death warrant for the poor man whom she bedded.
The night air was crisp and felt good in her lungs, cooling her down and helping her to gain control of her emotions. She boldly decided to walk as far as Charlie’s yard. One of her favorite mares had delivered a foal, and she had yet to see it. The horses always helped her to see sense. She’d always said that she’d been born riding, and that wasn’t far from the truth. Growing up on the road, horses were a part of her everyday life before she could crawl. Their gentle majesty grounded her, and in the crazy world of Small Heath Esme needed to visit them often. The risk of walking through the dark streets was well worth it to her if she ended up at the stables.
As she approached the stables, she noticed a faint light and thought that maybe Curly had come down to check on the new foal. She called out, “Curly, it’s just me, Esme. I’ve come to see the black mare and her…” Before she could finish, the door swung open and Tommy, wild eyed, stood in the doorway. “Come on in, Esme. Don’t let me stop you.”
“I…I didn’t know you were here, Thomas.”
“Does it matter?”
“No…” it sounded like a question coming out of her mouth, but she could see that something was definitely very wrong with Tommy and she didn’t know quite how to approach him. Tommy wasn’t wearing his usual jacket. His sleeves were rolled up to the elbow, and his shirt was soaked with sweat
Esme carefully ventured a question, “Where’s the foal?”
“Dead. He didn’t make it.” Peering from the shadows, he never broke eye contact as he spoke to her, and it made the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. As he spoke, the familiar scent of whiskey reached Esme’s nose.
“I’m sorry Thomas.” Esme spoke softly, carefully, almost as if she was speaking to a horse that could easily spook.
“No need for that. It’s all part of it, eh?” he lied.
But she knew better. Thomas Shelby never lost his cool. He could stare down the barrel of a gun without flinching, but the death of the foal had shaken him. He loved horses more than he could love most people. That was something that he and Esme had in common. He stepped into the light and she noticed that his eyes, which had finally shifted away hers, were red and wet.
“Couldn’t wait until morning to see an ‘orse? Don’t you think the streets of Small Heath are a bit more hospitable in the light of day?” As he spoke he handed Esme a nearly empty bottle of whiskey.
Taking the bottle, Esme snarled, “Your pig of a brother came home drunk and smelling of whores. It was either leave the house or gut him with a kitchen knife.” She drained the remaining contents of the bottle and handed it back to Tommy.
Tommy barely suppressed a low chuckle.
“It’s not funny, Thomas.”
“You’re right, my girl. It’s not. He should treat you with a bit more respect. At least wash up and put on a fresh shirt before he crawls home.”
“Fuck you, Thomas.”
“Oh, come on, Esme. I’m only pointing out the absurdity of the situation. Why on earth would he need to fuck whores when he has you at home? I would never do that to you.”
Esme felt a warmth run down her spine at his words, for they were spoken softly and sincerely. When Tommy raised his icy blue gaze back to hers, she could feel her cheeks flush and her stomach draw into a knot.
“Thank you, Thomas.” She whispered.
The corners of his lips raised a little, almost into a smile, but not quite.
His words implied an affection for her that she never knew had existed, and her mind slid sideways. Thomas actually cared about her. The king of Small Heath, with his razor crown, had a beating heart after all. They stood in thick silence for what seemed like hours. Their eyes locked on to each other until it felt, surreally, like they were drawing closer.
“Right then. Let’s get you home. I don’t want you wandering the streets of Small Heath at this hour. A bit unseemly, don’t you think?” Tommy spoke, and the spell was broken.
Tommy led her to a stall which held a white stallion. “How ‘bout I take you home on ‘im?”
Esme lit up as the horse nuzzled her hand. “He’s beautiful, Tom. Where’d you get him?”
“Won ‘im off Johnny Dogs. One day that Gypsy bastard will learn not to bet against me.”
Esme laughed, in spite of herself. She knew that Tommy’s Grandfather was a Gypsy King, and he meant no harm against her kin.
The night was getting colder by the minute, and Esme was grateful for the warmth that the whiskey had provided. Tommy pulled his coat on, and grabbed an extra one that he kept at the stables.
“Here, put this on. It’s gotten colder since you came in.”
Esme gratefully bundled up in Tommy’s coat. It smelled like Tommy’s sweat, whiskey, horses, and smoke- a smell not very unlike John’s.
Outside on the gravel Tommy helped her mount. She hitched her dress up and swung her leg over, a little embarrassed at the view that Tommy would have. She was more embarrassed when she saw the red state of his ears as he mounted behind her. Tommy clicked his tongue and the horse began to lope down the lane.  Riding through the streets bareback, Esme had to grip the horse with her thighs. Simultaneously, she could feel the warmth of Tommy’s body at her back and his slow steady breath on her ear.
She had never been this close to him before. Tommy had always kept a carefully guarded distance from her. Where Arthur’s demeanor always had the rough affection of a brother, with his bear hugs and mussing up her hair, Tommy always kept a formal tone. Now, she was sat between his thighs, and rocking movement of the horse did little to quiet the stirring she felt between hers.
As they rode past the BSA, flames from the forge spooked the stallion, and he reared up on his back legs. Tommy gripped Esme tightly to him, leaving no room between them. She could feel his heart racing against her back, and she soon realized that he had his chin on her shoulder and his cheek pressed to her’s. His hand was just under her breasts, strong and insistent. He pulled the reins and spoke in rich, low tones to the animal, shushing and reassuring him. Even with all the whiskey Tommy had consumed, he kept a clear head when it came to horses, and he soon had the stallion calmed down. Esme caught her breath and relaxed against Tommy’s chest. It took a second too long for him to loosen his grip on her waist and for his chin to leave her shoulder, but Esme didn’t mind.
They soon were at the door to the house she shared with John, who burst out into the street the second that they rode up.
Tommy dismounted first. “I have brought your wife home, Brother. I need a word with you.”
They walked a few feet away and Tommy bent down, his mouth close to John’s ear. He murmured something that made John’s head snap up. John glared at Tommy defiantly. Tommy put his hand on the back of John’s neck and pulled him closer again. He hissed something into John’s ear and John nodded his resignation to whatever Tommy had said.
Tommy returned to help Esme down, and once she was on the ground he faced her. “I don’t think you’ll have any trouble out of him for a while.”
“I don’t need you to fight my battles, Thomas Shelby.” Esme snapped, immediately regretting her harsh tone. “But, thank you. For everything,” she said with a much softer voice.
Once inside the house, John started babbling a stream of apologies. Esme held her hand up to him, and said, “Just leave it, John. I’ll be up in a bit.”
John went up the stairs, and Esme fixed herself a glass of whiskey. She swirled the amber liquid and smiled. It smelled like Thomas. Tomorrow, she would be John’s faithful and loving wife, but tonight, in John’s bed, she’d close her eyes and imagine herself getting up to a little devilment.

Stole The Show
Jughead x Reader
MASTERLIST
Requested: anon said:
Hello! May I please request something? So I’ve always read stories of where the reader is an amazing artist or a great writer but I’d like to read one where the reader is a dancer or something like that. I’m a dancer and I’m in my high schools color guard(not rotc). It could take place at a game during half time or a pep rally. Maybe the reader could have a solo or Something like that where jughead see them. Anything like that would be amazing 😁 please and thank you 💕
A/N: im really sorry for making you wait this long :(
Words: 1168
Warnings: 0
Today was the school’s first pep rally of the year and Cheryl had kicked me off the cheer team for the night insisting that I perform a solo at halftime. Don’t get me wrong, I love dancing but doing a solo at the first event of the year was a little nerve racking. I practiced day and night, I even ran through my routine when I got bored in class.
I was stood in front of the mirror in the locker room fixing up my face paint as Betty tied blue and yellow ribbon around my pigtails. All the cheerleaders sat around chatting, they were doing the same routine from last year so everyone was unfazed at performing because they knew the routine perfectly.
“What if I mess up?” I groaned while sponging blue and yellow stripes onto my cheeks.“
"You’ll be amazing Y/N/N!” Betty argued and pulled another strand of ribbon through my hair making me wince slightly as she tugged my hair.
“Yeah, you’ve been practicing for weeks and no one knows your routine anyways so if you mess up just freestyle it.” Ronnie commented. “Are you going to watch the first half of the game?”
“I think I might watch you two,” I said looking at her in the mirror, “then I think I’ll sit with Juggie and Kev. You guys will be off before I go on right?” I went back to fixing my face paint as they spoke.“
"Yeah, Cheryl said were all going to watch you.” Veronica said before the locker room door swung open.
“Hey, is Y/N- oh there you are.” He chuckled and stood in the door eyeing me slightly. “You look great babe.” He gushed and leant against the door frame, letting the door push against his other shoulder.
I rolled my eyes at his comment, I was wearing as little clothes as you possibly could, Cheryl had given me a pair of hot pants and a baseball style crop top to parade in, in front of the whole school, in like the middle of fall. “I look cold.” I grumbled looking at him through the mirror, his body still wedged in between the door.
“Aye! Jug, you lucky guy! Let me join!” I heard Reggie yell as he walked out the boy’s locker room.
“Fuck off Reggie.” Jug growled making him walking off in hysterics. “You’ll be fine, don’t stress.” He said gently as he turned back to me. “I’ll go find our seats, Kev said he got good ones.” He said and smiled once I had finished my makeup then stepped away letting the locker room door close completely.
I turned to face Betty and Ronnie “What?” I  blushed seeing the faces they were pulling at me.
“You two are so smitten!” Ronnie squealed then looked over to Betty who was nodding, backing up her statement.
“You’re making me more nervous.” I whined and sat between them on the bench and rested my head on Betty’s shoulder.
“Your boyfriend makes you nervous?” Betty giggled and rested her head on top of mine.
“You guys know what I mean!” I groaned, just as Cheryl burst into the room.
“We’re on in two minutes girls!” She yelled causing people to throw bags, shoes, clothes and so on into their lockers and follow her outside.
“Good luck girls.” I whispered as I hugged Betty and Veronica before they thanked me and rushed out joining the rest of the team. I got up from the bench and checked my myself once more before leaving the locker room and making my way to the football field.
“Well here she is!” Jug cheered as I slid past the people to my seat between him and Kev, which had food piled on it. I gave him an uneasy smile while I stood back brushing my arms up and down trying to keep warm as the slight breeze nipped at my skin. “You must be freezing.” Jug commented once they had moved the food and I had sat down.
He pulled his jacket off and handed it to me, “Cheryl might as well put me out there in a set of underwear.” I grumbled as I pulled on the heavy denim jacket. “Thanks though.” I gave him a grateful smile before kissing his cheek. The jacket only reached my mid thighs making my legs start to shiver but I couldn’t really tell if it was from the cold or from nerves.
He took my hand in his and squeezed it reassuringly before turning back to the game, only really concentrating on Archie. The game was going pretty well but the crowd wasn’t really cheering them on as much as I would have hoped which made me more anxious for my performance, what if nobody cheered for me? I got more and more antsy the closer half time came.
“Holy cow, I’m up in like ten minutes.” I said after watching the game for a while, I got up and pulled Jug’s jacket off, “I’m going to head down to the field so long.” “Okay, good luck baby,” He said before pressing a kiss to my cheek, “you’re going to do so well.” A bright smile spread across his face as he pulled back. “Oh my word, you’re making me blushy,” I cooed, “but I got to go.” I chuckled.
“Break a leg!” Betty yelled as I run past them as the team made their way onto the side lines, I smiled back and waved while they all cheered me on. I stood in the middle of the field looking out at the crowd while I waited for the music to start, I had no time to get nervous though because the music started almost immediately. I counted down when I heard the first beat and started my routine once I had got to three, the whole school went crazy, cheering, whistling, you name it.
I kept looking for Jug in the crowd when I had the chance but I had no luck in finding him. Everyone cheered as I started finishing, a huge smile spread across my face once I had ended the dance. I gave them a playful bow before I was tackled into a group hug from the cheer team. “You did so well Y/N/N!” veronica squealed as she pushed her way closer to me and gave me a big squeeze. Before I could say anything, I was lifted up into the air by Archie before he placed me on his shoulder as the whole football team joined us on the field. I looked around in amazement, everyone was jumping in celebration around me and the whole school was still cheering. A huge smile spread across my face when I finally spotted Jug in the bleachers he was cheering loudly with an insanely adorable smile plastered on his face too. When he saw that I was looking at him we blew each other a kiss simultaneously  making the school go even more crazy.

married- h.s imagine
Tumblr media
You stared at the guests as they made their way into the church for the ceremony that was starting soon. You looked down at your bracelet and let out a sigh. You turned the bracelet over to look at the engraving To my best friend, I will always love you. -Harry
As you stared at your bracelet, you couldn’t help but to let a tear fall. You angrily wiped it away. You had no one to blame but yourself. You couldn’t feel sorry for yourself because you could’ve prevented all of this. You never told Harry your true feelings for him. You never told Harry how much you meant to him and how you knew in your heart that he was with the wrong girl. Now, here you are at Harry’s wedding.
You glanced at the time on your phone and realized it was almost time for the ceremony to start. You let out a shaky sigh as you made your way back into the church. As you were about to go into the restroom to clean up your tear stained face, you saw Niall looking around the hallway. When his eyes met yours, he visibly let out a sigh of relief. “I’ve been looking for you ,Y/N.” Niall said as he approached you.
Immediately, he noticed how your eyes were red from crying. “Oh Y/N” Niall sighed as he pulled you into a hug. Niall was the only one to know about your feelings for Harry. When Harry and his fiancé, Kimberly, had their engagement party, Niall noticed how you spent most of the party sitting outside. When he went to check up on you and scold you for sitting out in the cold, you were sobbing into your arms. Finally, you opened up to someone and told Niall how it broke your heart that Harry couldn’t see your feelings for him.
You pulled back from the hug slightly, “I’m fine, Niall. What did you need me for?” Niall let out a hum as he scratched the back of his neck, “Harry’s looking for you.” You let out a sigh as you shook your head. You quickly wiped your eyes once more, careful not to ruin your makeup any more than you did, and started making your way to Harry’s room.
You knocked on the door softly and let yourself in when you heard Harry telling you to come in. A smile instantly found its way to your face. Harry gave you a smile as he stared at your reflection in the mirror. He turned around to look at you properly, “What do you think?” You walked up to Harry and wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him in for a tight hug, “Oh H. You look so handsome.”
Harry smiled and returned the hug. He then pulled you at arm’s length. You felt your face flush as you noticed Harry’s eyes on you. “You look so beautiful, Y/N.”
You looked down at your light grey dress and smiled. Harry insisted you to be in his wedding somehow. He couldn’t not have his best friend standing at his side. After Kimberly’s dismay, you were one of her bridesmaids.
You cleared his throat as you took a seat on the couch that was in the room. “Niall said you were looking for me.”
Harry nodded and let out a puff of air as he sat down beside you. He ran his hand through his hair as he stared up at the ceiling, “I’m nervous, Y/N.”
You nodded your head as you looked up at the ceiling as well. “Of course you are. It’s your wedding. You should feel nervous.”
Harry shook his head no, “I’m not nervous about the wedding. I’m nervous about the future.” He looked at you before he continued, “What if I’m making the wrong decision by rushing into this?’
You looked down at your bracelet and began running your index finger across it, a habit you picked up whenever you were feeling nervous. “I think…if Kimberly makes you feel loved and if you cherish her as a much as you say you do…that you’re not rushing into this as all.”
Harry wore a soft smile as he listened to your advice and nodded your head. He reached across, interrupting you playing with your bracelet, and held on to your hand. “I can always count on you, Y/N. You’re truly my best friend.”
You could’ve easily told Harry that yes. He was rushing into things. You could’ve told him that he was making a mistake and that you just knew he belonged to you but looking into his eyes…Hearing him talk about his love for Kimberly…you knew you couldn’t. With that thought in your head, your eyes started to brim with tears. Harry tilted his head questionably at you and with a smile on his face, he asked, “Oh Y/N. Are you crying because it’s my wedding day?”
You let out a shaky laugh and nodded your head, “Yes.”
You took your place with the other bridesmaids and waited for Kimberly to come down the aisle. As the music started to play, signaling her arrival, everyone’s eyes were on the blushing bride but your eyes were looking at Harry’s. You noticed as he stared at the love of his life walking up to him, his eyes had tears. The kind of tears you get when you just love someone so much you could feel your heart burst out of your chest. You knew those kind of tears because it was the kind of tears you had whenever you thought about Harry. You looked down at the bouquet of flowers you were holding and felt your eyes water again. Quietly you let out a sniffle.
As the ceremony went on, it was time for Harry to say his vows. He wiped a tear from his eye, making everyone in the room awe. He let out a small chuckle as he reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a piece of paper. He looked at the paper and smiled before he looked back into Kimberly’s eyes. “Love. Can you believe we’re here? Can you believe we’re getting married? I know I don’t. To this day, I’m still amazed that I’ve manage to have the privilege of getting to know such an amazing and beautiful girl. I promise to always love you. I promise to let you be right when I know you’re wrong. I promise to never go to bed angry at each other. I promise to be your best friend for the rest of our lives. I promise to never hurt you. I promise to always remain loyal. I promise to be yours.”
Niall leaned up a little from the groomsmen side to have a look at you. He sighed as he saw how you were visibly shaking from sadness. He knew that everything Harry was saying to Kimberly, you wished he was saying to you. He looked at the ground as he softly shook his head, his heart breaking for his friend.
After Kimberly said her vows to Harry and the pastor giving his blessing, the pastor finally said the seven words that were jabs to your heart, “I now pronounce you husband and wife.” When Harry and Kimberly broke off the kiss, the whole room cheered. Everyone rose to their feet as the couple walked down the aisle as husband and wife. As the room started to clear out, everyone anxious to congratulate the newlyweds, you lagged behind. Soon enough you were the last in the church room. You sat down on one of the chairs set up and placed your head into your hands as you let out a quiet sob. Harry was married.

<3 much love who are still following this <3
-
Y/N’s POV
Man, this is so much fun. I am so happy that my ‘hot’ roommate actually took me here, and he was trying to spend time with me. I would seriously be ready to do this with someone like him on any given day. I couldn’t keep his face from coming into my mind.
Pretty odd as it seems, but he was acting strange suddenly. He didn’t make any eye contact with me, and just left… he was inside the tent, basically abandoning me, all alone, into the wilderness.
Strange, indeed.
What was even strange was that, what had gotten into me to suddenly agreeing to this plan.
‘About time, Y/N’, I whispered to myself. ‘I should probably go and sleep too. Long day ahead.’
I waked towards my own tent, to only discover that, we have only had bought, one sleeping bag. And that was with Jungkook.
Well, fuck.
I got inside my tent and zipped it. I removed my jacket and laid over it. I started wondering as to what shall happen next. I was tired and I haven’t spoken to anyone who was close to me, in the past two days.
‘I should probably text my mother,’ I thought.
I got my phone out and I discovered that it was dead. My phone’s battery was over and so was my life. Being an internet addict I was, couldn’t even fathom survival without my phone. HOLY FUCK IM SCREWED. I WAS IN A DESPERATE NEED OF INFORMING MY PARENTS THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE! JEEZ, WHY ME?! OUT OF ALL DAYS, WHY TODAY?!?!?! FML.
Then it hit me.
I quickly got up and hesitantly walked over to Jungkook’s tent.
“Hey, Jungkook. Are you awake?” I asked from outside. I could tell, he got startled as he immediately opened up and peaked at me.
“Hey, yeah. What’s up?” he told with a little smile.
“Do you, by any chance, have a powerbank or something? My phone died.” I explained, tossing my phone.
“Oh- I don’t think so.” He said.
“Alright.” I awkwardly told and walked away like a meme.
“Hey! You can use mine if you want?” he exclaimed, which made me turn my head back at this handsome fucking hot piece of man.
“You sure? I mean, it’s not that of a big- “he cut me off.
“Y/N, I insist. Please, you should inform someone about this.” He genuinely told.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MY HEARTU JUST MELTED. FUCKKKK YOU ROOMMATE YOU’RE CUTE, HOT, SEXY AND NOW THIS?! WHAAAAT ARE YOU?!
I was trying my best to hold back the stupid smile that he caused every time he looked at me. but I just, couldn’t.
“Here.” He offered. I took the phone and stood there.
“What aren’t you coming in?” he asked me surprizing. I got shook.
Did he just ask me to get inside his tent? What?
“No, no, I’m fine.” I told.
“STFU Woman, its cold outside, come in.” he snapped as he pointed me to get in.
“Thanks.” I chuckled, uncomfortably.
I dialled my mom’s phone. “Hey mom, it’s me, Y/N.”
“Hi Y/N, how are you, child?” she was really happy to hear from me.
“Okay, so I’m outside and my phone is dead so I want you to not worry about me.” I quickly said.
“Oh, where are- “before she could finish, I told her bye and hung up. I looked over to Jungkook who had raised his eyebrows at me and gave me a smug look.
“Wow, you could talk to her actually. I still have my battery.” He said in a mocking tone.
“Yeah, but you know…” I said and hand over his phone.
“Aren’t you too formal with me?” he abruptly asked making me widen my eyes.
“Um, it’s like been 2 days since we met and I mean, I don’t know!” I hid my face in my palms which made him suppress a laugh.
“Gosh, you’re really weird you know.” I fist bumped my shoulder.
FUCKKKKK YOU HOTTIE JUST TOUCHED ME. AHHHHHH. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH. AH. GOSH HIS TOUCH IS ELECTRIC. AH. HELP. AHHHHHHHHHH.
“Haw! How can you just say that!? You’ve just met me.” I stick out my tongue teasing him.
“Well, I did spend the past couple of hours with you and you definitely don’t seem normal to me.” he mocked me back with a sarcastic tone.
“Well, you’re not too normal either.” I pouted playfully at him.
He just gave me his gorgeous smile and that eye smile of his which could actually melt anyone’s heart.
“Dude, seriously.” He said.
‘DUDE’ REALLY? DID YOU JUST, DUDE-ZONE ME ALREADY?
I wanted to say something but mouth seemed to have lost words. So I just shrugged it off.
There was a comfortable silence between us. It was rather numbing and calming in a way, unlike before. Sound of the crickets, the movements in the lake were audible, occasionally disturbed by the burning wood that was outside. This was getting strangely stable for me.
I heard him thump down on the sleeping bag and to my surprise, he grabbed my wrist and made me fall besides him.
DUDE YOU FUCKING MADE ME LAY DOWN?
“What even- “before I could finish he shushed me. “So, you’re my roommate and I don’t want things weird between us ever- “
What the hell do you even mean there hottie
“-Like, let’s start being casual around each other, like roommates… or more like, friends?” He turned around to meet my eyes which were already staring at him.
I nodded because that’s all I could process in that moment. It was the most beautiful moment in my life and in that moment nothing seemed more perfect. Not only was it initiation of a new friendship, but also a start of my own new life as an adult. I was free now. I wasn’t worried and that’s what mattered.
The thing I realised about jungkook was that he didn’t seem to be unnatural. He didn’t feel creepy to even have laid down with. He didn’t seem dangerous. It was rather, a safe feeling, a feeling of being home. I know it had only been a short while, but things were right. So right. I never thought I could get this right, but I did. I was happy.
“Aigo, I’m sleepy. “he stretched his arms making sure not to even have brushed with my body, even accidently.
“Yes you better.” I smiled and got up from there and as I was crawling towards the door, he called me out.
“Yah! Where are you going?” he asked me.
“Um, to my tent?” I said with a confused look.
“Oh please, do you even know, how bloody cold it is? And we don’t even have an extra sleeping bag.” He explained.
JEON JUNGKOOK, ARE YOU INVITING ME IN YOUR SLEEPING BAG? TO SLEEP? WITH YOU? LIKE, NEXT TO YOUR HOT SELF? LIKE, NEXT TO YOU- THE KOREAN GREEK GOD HIMSELF?!
PLEASE DON’T INVITE ME PLEASE NO NO NO.
I couldn’t process what he had said and in answer I could only tilt my head and hang my jaw low because I just couldn’t think of what to say.
He frowned at me majorly. “What are you waiting for? A snake to come, and eat you alive?”
I just blinked a few times and realised that he had indirectly asked me to get in the bag with him.
“So, like, I should sleep here then?” I asked, obviously.
“Duh?” he gave me the most disgusted look ever which seemed to scream ‘how dumb are you? who even got you graduated’ look.
Without saying a word, I crawled over to him and he made room for me to fit in. To my luck, this one was spacious enough to fit us both, like a burrito. Oh well.
“Wow okay.” I managed to breath out.
“You fine there.” He asked.
HOW COULD I POSSIBLEY BE FINE WITH FEELIGN YOURSELF SO CLOSE NEXT TO ME. I WAS WET AF. (FROM ALL THE SWEAT OBS or maybe not)
“Yeah I guess.” I giggled.
“Good.”
We just laid there staring at the wall of the tent for 12.5 minutes without exchanging any words or movements to avoid any further touching. and the there it was, my bad habit.
I was getting drowsy despite all the activities that had been going on in my heart and mind. I was knocked out.
Tired and asleep, literally next to the guy I met 2 days ago accidently who happened to live with you now.
JUNGKOOK’s POV
JIN HYUNG WHAT KIND OF IDEA WAS THIS? SHARE THE FUCKING SLEEPING BAG WITH HER? DO NOT LET HER ALONE? DO YOU REALIZE HOW MUCH I’M SUFFERING RIGHT NOW? NO MATTER HOW MUCH OF A MAN I SHOW HER, I AM… I AM NOT! WELL, I WAS REALLY ANXIOUS WITH HER BEING SO CLOSE TO ME.
But despite all that, I was happy that I made this decision. I was happy that I got to talk with her, but I wasn’t happy for the fact that she was so close to me and breathing and having her chest go up and down and I just couldn’t help but notice her face. Even though things were barely visible, I could see her silhouette. The texture of her hair, the way it fell on her face, how she had her lips so moist, how her eye lashed curled like magic and how her little nose scrunched when she senses any sharp air. Gosh, she looked exclusive. Probably the first time ever that I had seen a girl up so close. I don’t want to lie, but damn, she looked so pretty.
I felt an unconscious smile form on my lips and I could feel a bit of adrenaline rush up my stomach. There was something about her, which didn’t make me uncomfortable anymore, enough to give me panic attacks as usual. She was different. I was sure. She had a very positive vibe to her. She was cool and certainly would make my perfect roommate.
It was about 30 minutes that I had been awake after her. Just as I was about to close my eyes, I felt something. Heavy indeed. Near my thigh. The weight exponentially increased as another second passed. Now, it was on my torso ascending towards my clavicles.
NO NO NO NO NO NOOOO. HOLY SHIET. Y/N! I THOUGHT YOU WERE NICE WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO. SHE HAD THROWN HER THIGH OVER MINE DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO MY CROTCH. NO NO NO NO. AND HER HANDS ALMOST NEAR MY SENSITIVE NECK. FUCK MAN. FUCK FUCK FUCK. IM FUCKED. WE’RE FUCKED. I’M DOOMED.
Just as I was processing the situation, I felt her face bury inside the crook of my neck. I could feel her breathing next to my neck and it was bothering me more than anything in the world right now.
‘Jungkook, be strong.’ I reassured myself.

Chapter One - Chasing Dragons
The night was cold and young, vaguely reminding him of he first snow of the season. The air around him seemed to be seeping into his very core, chilling him to the bone. A barely lit cigarette hung from thin fingers attached to a trembling hand; the other which was fisted in the fabric of his jacket to stave off the frost.
From across the street, he watched the house that had been flooded with light since the early morning. New neighbors, he mused, taking another drag of the still lit cherry. Normally, he would have offered to assist, whether of his own friendly nature or to the insistence of his parents, but he had school that day.
From the moment he walked into the ancient, brick building known as ‘Thornridge High School’ everyone had been in an uproar. From the clamoring of his fellow classmates, he managed to detect the phrase ‘new student’. So that’s what everyone was up in a tizzy about? It’s understandable, he decided later. The last time this town had gotten a new student, it was he himself who had stepped foot into the school his first day as a freshman, three years ago.
He’d been watching the house since he made the trek home from school, and he noticed that the bright light illuminating from every single window of the house had not once faltered. Naturally, he assumed the family was still unpacking and such. This made him wonder what the new student was like. Were they a boy, or a girl? Which class were they in? More importantly, could he make peace with them enough to tolerate living across the street from them for the remainder of his senior year?
The house in question had stood empty and decrepit for most of his life here in town. In the past couple weeks, however, the entire neighborhood had been in an uproar about all the construction taking place on their street over just one old house. From something that appeared to be condemned, so what could be assumed to be the house’s former glory, it took almost a month for the building to be remodeled into a tan stone house that closely resembled a section of a medieval castle.
The train of thought running through his mind became derailed as he watched the heavy door of the house creak open. He stilled, the lit end of his cigarette falling onto the stoop below as the trembling of his hand increased. The figure seemed drowned out by the surrounding light, and he had to squint his eyes to get a better view of them. From what he could scent and observe, the figure appeared to be a beta, almost most certainly a female, as he could tell from the light flowery smell emanating from them. It seemed from a distance, that she was an abnormally tall beta, for the top of her head appeared to be less than five inches away from the end of the door frame. This was odd, because female betas normally were almost the same size, if not just a few inches taller than himself.
He watched in curiosity as the beta pulled something out of her pocket. It wasn’t until he heard the familiar click that he realized what it was. The female brought the now lit cigarette to her lips and took a deep inhale. As she exhaled a cloud of smoke only made larger by the freezing temperatures, she seemed to notice him for the first time. It took her two seconds to decide to wave in a friendly manner towards him. And another ten for her to take the smoking cherry from between her lips, hold it absentmindedly in her hand, and march across the empty street towards him.
He seized up for a moment the closer she got. There was a distinct smell to her that he hadn’t been able to detect before. Amidst the light and flowery scent, he smelled the rich, deep, musky scene of an alpha.
“Hey.” She said quietly, once she came closer, opting to lean on the post of the porch.
Now that she was just a few feet away from him, he could see just how tall she really was. With at least four inches of height on him, she had to have been at least 5’9. Among that, he noticed the cropped hair that barely hung down past her shoulders. She looked more mature than what he would assume a female beta to. Her features were stern, and her eyes were dark in the night. It felt like she was looking inside of him rather than directly at him. He watched as she took another drag of her cigarette.
“Hello. You’re the new kid?”
The cloud of smoke that followed came out choppy and in bursts with her reply.
“One of them, yeah.”
He couldn’t stop the surprise from invading his voice. “One of them?”
She laughed, her breath turning cloudy as it hit the chill of the natural air. It was a comforting sound, and it eased the tension in his muscles from when he seized up.
“There’s three of us.”
‘That’s more than this town’s gotten in three years.”
“I know. A couple of my friends live here. That’s why we moved.”
The reasoning for their sudden decision to move seemed odd, but he decided it better not to press the issue further.
“It’s nice to meet you, I guess.”
Another, quieter laugh. This time, it was concluded with an offer of her hand that wasn’t holding the cigarette. Hesitantly, he reached out to shake hers. Oddly enough, her hand was warm and unaffected by the cold, enveloping his in a soft warmth that radiated up his arm.
“I’m Jade.”
“Emmet.”
“‘S nice to meet you.”
As much as he wanted to go back inside, he also wanted to continue digging into this new girl’s life.
“Guess I’ll see you around, Emmers.”
She cut his hopes for the night off as the corner of her mouth turned up into a grin. Taking a final inhale from her cigarette, she blew it out, then dropped it onto the ground. The toe of her sneaker smashed the thin orange material until no more glow was cast from it.
Before he could comment on her idiotic nickname for him, she was gone, already across the street at her own doorstep. He swore for a split second she turned to flash him another grin before she disappeared inside.
Like magic, as soon as the door clicked shut, every single light in the house turned off, shrouding the street in darkness as it had been most previous nights. He became startled once again, the sudden loss of light and the newfound darkness was unnerving. Standing, Emmet took one last look at the strange, old house and turned his back on it. Immediately, he felt the coldness seep into his bones once more.
Notes: so much for rolling with the punches. i might just scrap this entire thing and start over. who knows. the month has just begun. but ive already given up.
