In friendly defense of 2!Adrien, I’d argue that his reactions to being stressed coming off as more of a 7 rather than a 2 is actually a perfect reflection of the effects of his abuse; it’s fear that drives his non-confrontation tendencies rather his own nature. I think Risk highlighted that a bit in revealing how Adrien does desire confrontation, even if he doesn’t act on it.

(I have always found it interesting to consider the role that trauma/neurodivergency plays in shaping a character’s personality, since it’s one of the flaws I feel most personality assessments can’t really account for.)

I also think Chat’s arguments with LB were more like to be confrontational than avoidant (thinking of the times he’s called her out and his romantic pursuit being the primary indicators), up until she became the Guardian. So then with S4, I’d consider it to be a gradual relationship shift that leads to Chat no longer feeling safe and secure enough in his position to confront her the way he once did, which is why he only tries a bit in Kuro Neko before running, and then doesn’t try at all in Strikeback.

I hope this doesn’t come off as too preachy or anything, just wanted to share my 2¢! Cause either way you slice it, your Adrien has always been brilliantly written and incredibly in-character to me, so you’ve clearly got a rock solid understanding of his character. ❤️

hello november anon and sorry for the delay! thank you so much for the ask and also for going back and looking through my prev posts. you know my teacher heart loves it when you do the readings! 😌 also you're definitely not the only one who believes adrien is a 2 rather than a 7! and while i know there are good arguments for both sides, i'll explain in depth my position on adrien's personality.

part 1 of the ask:

so here are the reasons i think adrien IS an enneagram type 7

adrien's motivation seems like that of a 7 to me: he wants to experience everything and be satisfied in every way he can. if he had a disney princess "i want" song, it would be "i want to go to school, i want to make friends, i want adventure in the great wide somewhere., i want to have fun."

the literal first shot of him in the show (if we use origins as a starting point) is adrien running away. nathalie asks him to please reconsider, he knows what his father wants, and adrien says, "but this is what i want to do." according to the enneagram institute, "sevens do not see themselves as the center of a community or family, but as members of a free-floating band of fellow adventurers whose own enjoyment is enhanced by being with others." going to school and having a new experience with new people is what's going to enhance adrien's enjoyment of life - not being the center of his family unit or the apple of his father's eye.

a 2's motivation would be to be as loved as possible and to make themselves neeed by those they most care about. while adrien definitely shows a desire to be loved and needed, especially by ladybug, i think his primary desire is for experience, and it's this from which all his actions- not just characteristics - are based. take for example his reaction to getting his miraculous vs marinette's (also in origins):

adrien is excited and intrigued and ready to go, as a 7 would be when offered a new experience - and a new way to satisfy their desire to try everything. marinette, as a 1, is quite the opposite: she is being put in a situation where she must do something right or fail, and therefore is stressed tf out. while marinette's motivation to be good/perfect fuels her anxious reaction, adrien's motivation to experience everything and be satisfied fuels his thrilled and slightly reckless reaction. that's why he charges out into battle without listening to all the instructions; his motivation was to escape the restraints of his life and try something new.

in growth, enneagram 7's take on the positive traits of 5's. in stress, they take on the negative traits of 1's. i have seen adrien exhibit these behaviors throughout the show on many occasions!

according to the enneagram institute, "Sevens have fear about their inner world. There are feelings of pain, loss, deprivation, and general anxiety that Sevens would like to stay clear of as much as possible. To cope with these feelings, Sevens keep their minds occupied with exciting possibilities and options— as long as they have something stimulating to anticipate, Sevens feel that they can distract themselves from their fears." therefore, while one can argue that adrien's wealth of knowledge and fun facts is a result of everything gabriel has forced him to learn (mandarin, piano, fencing, medieval horse colors), we can assume he at least was interested in it - and that seeking new knowledge like a 5 kept him from lingering in his sadness.

now as to how adrien moves to the low parts of type 1 during the show: i think the main examples of this are the instances he adopts rigid, critical, and judgemental characteristics, which is potentially unpleasant for anyone who has to be around him.

first up, adrien's akumatized forms: chat blanc, ephemeral, celesticat

i bring up the akumas because, though adrien isn't in his right mind (by hawkmoth's akumas), they are examples of adrien being in extreme stress.

as chat blanc, adrien wants to either right the world or destroy it for being wrong - the critical supreme judgement an unhealthy 1 is capable of. he lashes out when contradicted, and is quite ruthless even to marinette, who he loves, in the name of executing judgement.

as ephemeral, adrien seeks to control time. (however, this is probably the weakest example because adrien was being amok-controlled in this instance and was acting on shadow moth's will, not his own.)

i include celesticat because while this is an example of a "good" akumatization, adrien was still under so much stress that an akumatization was able to take place. yet even while being in "good" stress, adrien still shows characteristics of 1: perfectionism, righteousness, taking control of the situation. he literally turns into a pure white angelic being, an embodiment of perfection. it's what he believes he has to do in order to salvage the situation. it's one of the more healthier moves from 7 to 1 i have seen depicted in media and is entirely plausible concept under the enneagram's theory! this just goes to show the depth and richness of his character.

next, we will discuss adrien's various alter egos:

cat walker

i've said it before and i'll say it again; cat walker is another move from 7 -> 1.

as chat noir, adrien is at the height of his 7-ness. he enjoys the freedom that his miraculous powers and secret identity gives him, and uses it as a means of escape from the regular constraints of his life and obligations. then in kuro neko when ladybug slights him, she denies him the fulfilment and satisfaction in reaching his full potential as chat noir (e.g., being of equal importance on the team as her) that he should be allowed. of course he becomes hurt and angry! she's stepping on his core desire in life.

according to enneagram coach dr. tom lahue (my favorite enneagram guy ((also a 7)), "type 7's typically deal with anger by trying to avoid it or deflect it. that really is the anger type of a 7 - deflective. deflecting things away." that's what i believe cat walker is: a stress reaction, a deflection of his anger with ladybug. he deflects his painful emotions into something he thinks is positive; a new start.

adrien is usually so joyful and optimistic, but this was a huge blow for him. dr. tom says the best way for a 7 to handle this anger is to be "real and genuine" when coming to terms with it, what does adrien do instead? he turns to a new alter ego. he chases the experience of fulfillment, only he does so by adopting a persona who is serious and perfectionist. obviously this was neither what adrien or ladybug needed, and that is because cat walker is a stress reaction who adrien cannot sustain without continued levels of unhealthy self-denial. this is the hardest he has gone to 1 in the show and what it took to snap him out of it was a level of reflection, analysis, and objectivity (that this was an unhealthy behavior) indicative of a type 5 - and which shows his progression to growth.

2. aspik

one can argue that aspik is more proof of adrien being a 2 than a 7 actually, as his motivations for becoming aspik were to woo ladybug. however, the stress response of a type 2 is to move to the negative qualities of type 8, which is to lash out at those who they believe have taken them for granted.

according to the enneagram institute,

"Average to unhealthy Twos seek validation of their worth by obeying their superego’s demands to sacrifice themselves for others. They believe they must always put others first and be loving and unselfish if they want to get love. The problem is that “putting others first” makes Twos secretly angry and resentful, feelings they work hard to repress or deny. Nevertheless, they eventually erupt in various ways, disrupting Twos’ relationships and revealing the inauthenticity of many of the average to unhealthy Two’s claims about themselves and the depth of their “love.”

as aspik, adrien was never resentful of ladybug for taking him for granted or making him feel rejected. as aspik, his goal was never to make himself needed by her. as aspik, he maintained some extreme levels of optimism that ignored the rational conclusion that he should give up for several thousand time loops. as aspik, he was able to let go and displace his hopes in himself to someone else - and run off to his responsibility as chat noir with high spirits (though i'm sure the ladrien kiss helped)

3. griffe noire

this has got to be the most stressful stress reaction i've seen on adrien. and you might say "but wackus he looks nothing like a type 1" and i say "JUST HOLD ON

going back to dr. tom's analysis on type 7's in anger, he says, "7's typically express their anger indirectly, e.g., through sarcasm, like 5's - like 6's sometimes... but they quickly try to move on and reframe into a more positive way." griffe noire, rather than telling jokes and puns to lighten the mood, mocks and ridicules poor toxinelle who has not convinced me she doesn't have a crush on him. 1's actually do the same thing when they are unhealthy; they criticize and blame and nag others for not being up to par, and by directing his anger at his situation onto toxinelle, griffe noire is doing the same.

dr tom goes on to say, "in some cases [7's] might take impulsive actions to try to free themselves from this feeling of being trapped... engaging in frenetic escapism in behaviors or addictions or substances to try to distance themselves from those who are frustrated with them... or their own anger/pain in life." we have seen griffe noire engage in multiple frenetic behaviors while running amok (haha), all of which are clearly attempts to redirect his pain and anger/ keep it from consuming him. for example, griffe noire takes chat noir's cataclysm to the chest as though it's a game. for another, he openly threatens to destroy the entire world with his super cataclysm. and of course, he is constantly abusing his miraculous by over-exerting his powers in a way only adults should. yet all of these destructive behaviors are still adrien's way of escaping his normal life, and his everyday pain. it's almost like his self-destruction is his addiction.

and yet by the end, it took the introspection of type 5 for griffe noire to realize that his behavior was unhealthy. he observed, he listened, he showed an inquisitiveness that brought him back from the brink. and he also upgraded his outfit so if that isn't a type 7 path to growth i don't know what is!

now i know i won't have convinced everybody, so i just want to drop this section from the enneagram institute's text on misidentifying 2's and 7's:

Although both types are gregarious and enjoy being with people, their interpersonal styles are noticeably different. The Two... would like to be the heart and soul of a family or community, the best friend or confidant everyone comes to for attention, advice, and approval. Twos want to be significant to others and on intimate terms with them, although sometimes they go too far, meddling too much and being too solicitous to make sure they are needed.

adrien is not focused on being needed by anybody, not even ladybug (although due to his romantic interest in her, i can understand why people think so). being the heart and soul of the team is not what motivates him; primarily, i think he just likes having all the experiences he wouldn't otherwise get to have without being chat noir.

By contrast... Sevens do not see themselves as the center of a community or family, but as members of a free-floating band of fellow adventurers whose own enjoyment is enhanced by being with others.... Sevens may thus exhibit a certain generosity, although their motives may well have less to do with helping needier friends than with making sure that they themselves have a good time by having others around.

this isn't to say that adrien is just focused on having a "good time." i see that his enjoyment is amplified when he is surrounded by people he loves and cares for. he is motivated to have good experiences, and be fulfilled by trying everything, and becoming close to people and forming loving relationships is just a happy byproduct of that.

now there ARE several caveats to my analysis which provide potential arguments against typing adrien as a 7 - and which i can touch on briefly before i close:

adrien's abuse: i understand that trauma and anxiety can affect personality deeply. i'm not qualified to speak on this, or on how it should or shouldn't affect any personality type. i can only say that i think adrien has acted pretty consistently under stress as far as the show depicts

inconsistent characterization: i think we can all agree that ml won't be winning any awards for its consistency in characterization. which i know sounds contradictory to what i just said about how it depicts adrien under stress, but i think there IS a lot of discrepancy in this show and over the course of 9 years with different teams of writers all trying to execute one person's vision, inconsistencies are bound to happen.

Hello puppets theory #2: The needs of puppets

Using some inspiration from Marlow's hierarchy of needs (Which I don't particularly agree a lot but its an ok basis for my theory with the puppets)

So this goes with my theory and headcannon that Owen gave the puppets to much humanity to the point that they are more humans than puppets

Since they are now living things, my theory goes that the puppets are now exhibiting many needs that living things exhibit

We all don't necessarily exhibit all of them as individuals work differently, but I can aee some primary and psychological needs that Marlow's theory mentions

For example the need of resources to live is represented on the way puppets need host

Or the need to feed on their curious nature like Riley does with her science and experiments and her desires to be renowned.

My theory is that Owens reflection of the puppets only goes beyond the main four characteristics in the game he represented that was presented in all four puppets, however the puppets are their own free individuals ans creations of free will with their desires and needs.

This goes mostly reflected on their needs and wants, and of course what they desire based on those Nicks

I am not particularly fond of trying to find a way to connect Owen into the puppets and his past as it does takes away of the puppets individuality, and it stretches a lot of the lore we were given to the point it doesn't feel natural to me, but that's my silly personal opinion

I do respect and understand those who do believe in those Owen theories, I just happen to strongly disagree, but I am more than fine if you believe the latter and disagree with me. There is no confirmation of what the actual lore is, and I do love to read and see other variations

The puppets all have a need of survival, ao that goes out of the picture as it goes with Everyone.

So my theory for each of the puppets are the following

Mortimer

Mortimer exhibits a great need of control in his environment including his subjects. I believe it's tied to his desire of staying in power and being the true voice of the puppets (As he's rather paranoid)

Mortimer exhibits a need of safety. This goes more into him being a paranoid as he's afraid and is suspicious that everyone is doing stuff behind his back and he wants to make sure he's safe from danger as the "Father" of the cult

Mortimer see and has a great desire of seel upgrade through comparing himself as as a king and wanting his show back it feeds with his desire around his ego

I do think he has a slight physiological need of companionship, but he wants subjects rather than a "family"

Riley

Riley has more compex needs, so I'll start with the Good boi as her need of companionship. As she has a strong bond and most likely a codependency with Mortimer, he's the unstable individual that she cannot fulfill that need +She really misses her good boi

Riley has the need of improving and challenging herself. Riley has a pretty damn good self-eateem and she knows she can do better than her current situation as she expreses it im the tapes

Riley has a need of approval from Mortimer although she has a good self-esteem. I do thibk this is due to Mortimer's rather chilly and unstable demeanor. Riley wants to prove herself she's worthy as Mortimer is a always criticizing everyone.

Now I do believe part of Riley is seeking for a safer and more grounded place in the host world as the way they are living limits for their survival needs

Daisy

Daisy seems to have a great need of self worth and appriciation which she doesn't have on herself. I'll say this goes more into the esteem needs

I am not sure if Daisy has a need for companionship, but I guess it could be related to her need and desire to be nice and pleasant to people to like her.

Ummm for Self a actualization, I'll say Daisy wants more people to not treat her as this dumb person and she wants people to respect her and be nicer to her as she's nice to them

For safety, ummm I think that Neeed was satisfied after Riley helped her accept Danger mode as part of her

Nick

First and foremost Nick has a lot of self-esteem issues that he hides through some related Narcissism (I forgot what is called, but ifs about usikg narcissism to deflect your low-self-esteem )

For safety, I do believe it's related to escape Mortimer's physical abuse and be in space where he can lower his defense mechanisms and be himself

Self actualization could be Nick wanting something good for once like a better upgraded room and Mortimer at least favoring him

Well, I'll talk about Nicks feelings now. As a reminder, I dont think anyone is related and they're a cult. So, let's dive into the most important need he has:

So, we know about Nick's feelings and I have seen people theorized it was translated into Owen crushing on someone, but I think this is more about Nick's physiological means of love and companionship as I do think a tape is implying Owen to be an AroAce. So Nick's love and desires for Riley delivers from his need and desires to have love, give love, and recieve love. I do believe his painting reflects his needs of having a strong and trustful relationship that he's hesitant to have because he's embarrassed to admit he...well wants Riley to be his mate as in thr last tape he seemed to have an idea of what they were going to do at Mortimers office (I saw a scripted version error on the rosco's origins video that made me belief Nick thought perhaps he was either tying the knot with her or want to escape) this goes with his hopeless romantic fantasies but it goes into another set of headcannons. Tell me id you're interested

this is a question that i have in my mind since the beginning of bnha but i never asked anyone, but now i want to ask you: what do you think about the fact that midoriya seems to adore bakugou and to want to be his friends/at his side even if he bullied him and didn't even say sorry? idk if this is horikoshi's bad writing or maybe we have exaggerated bakugou's behaviour or idk, i'm really confused (sorry for the bad english, i hope what i said it's understandable!)

I thought about this ask for a looooong time. I usually kinda have a rough mental outline of the points I want to make when I answer any asks (especially when the answer gets really long jbdwujwjnw) but to be honest with you, nonnie, I kind of don’t know? however, I still want to honor the fact that you asked me (which... thank you??? you could have sent this to anyone, especially since you’ve probably been thinking about it for a while now), so I’ll give you some of my thoughts!!! 

the very first thought I had when I got this message was the context I usually see the “izuku didn’t stop hanging around bakugou despite what he did” argument being made in. a number of people have tried to make it a point that izu deserved the violence/bullying he was subjected to at bakugou’s hands because he was trying to force the other into a friendship, or he was following him around (or my least favorite take: izu was being stalkerish :/) 

and, while that’s not what you’re saying or asking, it does kind of lead me towards thinking of why, as you asked, izuku stayed at his side (and why the previously mentioned argument is wrong).

coming out of the isolation that comes with being diagnosed “quirkless,” I do not think we can fault izu for wanting to hold on to a friendship that’s been there for however long he and bk had known each other prior to the age of four? I mean, realistically, in this equation, you can’t take a four, five, six, seven, or whatever-year old child’s attempts to maintain his social connections as a fault of his own. he’s a kid, a lonely one at that, and if bakugou was who he knew as a friend before he was secluded, I’m not surprised he tried to keep it that way (though I don’t think he kept it that way for long)

some of the very first images we get in the manga are of izuku putting himself in the line of danger to protect another child from bakugou. while I don’t think that was something he “followed” him around for, I do think that izuku ended up around bk more times than not because he did things like this. being able to intervene, even at the cost of his own safety, would mean being around bk, so I figure that contributes to things (in some way or another dnedjnwjnd)

at some point, while I don’t think izu ever stops seeing bakugou as a figure of strength more obtainable to him than his favorite hero All Might, it seems like he does stop seeking bakugou out? from the way we’re introduced to bk/izu’s dynamic in junior high for example (i’m thinking about the moment their teacher said that both of them were aiming to apply for UA), we see that izuku tries his best to make himself small, to not draw attention, let alone bakugou’s attention, to himself... so it’s bakugou, then that initiates their interaction (though he does so with violence, a theme that’ll be followed into the start of their career as students at ua :/). so that then moves away from the “izuku following bakugou” rhetoric and, instead, shows how bakugou’s... irritation/obsession/call-it-what-you-want with izuku keeps them around each other, despite the understanding that bk wants the other at, as we see in ch. 284, “arm’s length.”

and while there’s more I could probably say about their physical closeness, I do want to kind of address some of the other points you brought up sooooo:

I can’t say this for sure, because I have no real way of knowing and can only base my understanding of it off of things I’ve experienced, but I think there’s some things that could explain why izuku “adored” bakugou, despite the way he was treated. 

on a narrative level, hori may have done this to 1) show the goodness of izuku’s heart (because, tbh, if I had to deal with half the shit he did, I wouldn’t be able to muster up a quarter of the kindness and continued grace that izu has). as the audience, we understand how good he is when we get to see him interact with bakugou despite everything, not with bitterness or malice, but with care and, when the moment calls for it (like the sludge attack or bk’s kidnapping) protectiveness. I also think it could be 2) a product of seeing bakugou as an obtainable symbol of heroism. i’m looking over the scene where they fight in ground beta and izu says some things that I think play into what you’re getting at with his admiration (also???????? these boys neeed t h e a r a p y oh my goodness):

(as a child, in a flashback) “Wait for me, Kacchan!”

“... like I said before, because I had nothing at first, along with the parts I hated about you, I saw vividly all the amazing things you could do!”

“You, who had so much that I didn’t have, were an amazing person much closer to me than All Might!”  

“It’s because I thought you were amazing... That’s why... I kept chasing after you!”

(and so you get the idea eubfrunejjs). again, I don’t see it as illogical for a child who wanted nothing more than to be a hero (for someone who kept that dream alive despite everyone telling him it was impossible) to use someone close to him personally (bk) as a model of strength. there’s other role models, like the pro heroes, but bakugou was tangible to izuku; he was within his sights for most of his life. if everyone was constantly showering bakugou with praise, telling him that he has what it takes to be a hero, why wouldn’t izuku also internalize that, hence making the foundation for his nod of respect towards bk? I don’t think it’s a problem of exaggerating bk’s behavior (because he was SHITTY to izu. that is just... not up for discussion???), but more of trying to really get into izu’s mind enough to understand why he may prioritize the things he does, and why his heart is good enough to give bk the kindness that izuku was under no obligation to provide (and I am... working on that point. I love him for it, but it does boggle me at times). 

Now... my last two points (because I’ve kept you here long enough dubwdjnwj). first, I have my opinions about where things are going currently in the manga (like with bakugou’s “atonement” and all that good shit) as well as how izuku’s trauma is portrayed coming out of his past with bakugou, but... I don’t want to speak ill of Hori and his writing abilities or anything. I’m here to enjoy the content he releases and, in doing that, all I can really do is trust that he’s telling the story as he sees best (because it is his story, not mine dbjndwjn).  

and lastly, I think that if we’re moving towards a place in the narrative where bk finally a p o l o g i z e s, then that may give us a chance to explore these ideas more! with bakugou finally owning up to what he did, and telling izuku about it, that may be a chance for izu to also open up himself and share a bit more on where his mind’s been with overcoming/forgiving the past.

i keep thinking about this and coming to more conclusions like both as an artist and me. 

we always think first about the aggressor and not the victim. so, for example, with history 4 and yong jie what will their relationship look like now given the trauma? if they have no interest in fleshing this dude out and having him just be an annoying clingy little ugly bitch then acknowledge that pain and how it will affect them. it’s so easy for xing si to get over being raped? what about xing si’s relationship with his mother? what about the fracturing this does to the family when there’s an intense violation that was aided and abetted by the mother?

that would be far more fascinating trying to figure out and they could still have them be together if they so desperately need it but they can’t ignore everything. that means the trauma will permeate through every part of your life. it’s hilarious that so many fans say the portrayals are realistic because they are not. these shows do not have the time and many of the writers or producers do not have the care or prowess—or will have to cut things to please the state—to execute this. they expedite the healing process but we are left reeling. 

in film school one of my teachers was always like, “what happens in the world when the film ends?” and this is something to ask. are we approaching it from: a man falls in love with his brother who raped him and the mother encouraged it and the shock and taboo of that or are we approaching it from a man is forced and trapped into a rship and stockholm syndrome and how that plays out. even if they stayed together even so it would give us more reason and understanding and then we see and know the foundation is built on nothing but darkness and may never recover. after this chapter ends  there may be destruction; it’s possible because that’s how it all started.

but after this story ends, in the way it is presented, what will happen? it’s not just entertainment and that doesn’t mean it’s as big of a deal as i think it is even as i write these things. these are just things to keep in mind and things i think the younger viewers absolutely need to see. for themselves like as creative people and enjoying the media they consume and seeing what works and what doesn’t especially when a work serves a purpose. nothing is made for no reason so don’t expect it to be. to me i’m like: why was this made and what could have been better? 

there is NO improvement which is why we run around in the same circles. the way to untangle that is being clear about the message and its faults. the audience can’t be clear about it if the show isn’t doing its job for a team of professional fucking writers trying to entice people by poorly approaching topics and leaving them empty handed. life is not as hollow as these things make it and yet we eat it up hook line and fucking sinker. 

time and time again we see what these things must establish and how far they can push themselves. it isn’t until the material world gets better that we see a turn in the media but time isn’t linear. sometimes things are worse in years, sometimes things are better. these tropes last because they are a direct reflection of life and the failures in society. so of course it’s about the perpetrator and how they can get their prize but not how we can manage these things when there is a clear victim and we pretend like it isnt there under some sense of potential reform. 1. people do not need to be reformed in a story and that isn’t what this needs 2. is that compelling? 3. yes morally grey things exist but this is not morally grey when it is a violation adn that person’s action was not morally grey. there was a victim and he neeeds to be away from that victim. if he is going to stay we need to see the affects of him being there as real things and there is nothing realistic about that. in no fucking world would someone like xing si a grown adult fucking man be able to temper things that quickly as in the show. NONE. that shit lasts forever but we are supposed to see them kiss and be liek “aw wow morally grey” like what about him is morally grey in relation to xing si? specifically. whihc is the personhe will be with forever.

no it’s how do we get ourselves to see him and engage with him. you can engage with him or be enraptured sure but that doesn’t mean anything and it doesn’t mean the writers are even doing anything with it! i’m glad eveyrone can garner there own idk ideas or get what they want out of a work but what about the victims? what about the relationships? what happens when the story ends? what are dinners like? cos their lives don’t stop when it’s not being recorded (as in these worlds we are shown are always going to exist so they continue on even without us seeing it. so the characters don’t have a stop point we just usually see their happy ending and many times with shitty relationships it’s like why are we here now?) at this point it’s comical and it’s boring. 

there’s a film i like with cameron diaz where she falls in love with someone who kidnapped her for a job. there’s no perosnal connection which really helps as well. he did it for a job, doesn’t know her, they fall in love. they get together at the end. that still affects her but it’s also way less psychological trauma then somoene stalking and grooming you and violating you and trapping you by direct action and constant manipulation. there’s no way to turn that around and it’s even worse when you try to with literally no other explanations. like who are these fucking characters and why should we even want them to continue to be here? yong jie could have even been a vehicle to help xing si like idk unpack everything in his brain in a helpful way even through his violation. they chose none of that lmao i could write a better fucking script and im a moron

why should we believe in their love? why should we believe in yong jie? why should we believe in any of these people when they don’t prove shit to us. they just exist. why is that interesting? why do we root for them? that’s certainly not something they even asked themselves cause they sure as shit don’t know. the writing here cannot make up its mind on its own morality and i think the idea of morally grey only works if you have a fucking idea of what you want to do not just throwing shit at a wall. and we feel something for these “morally grey” characters—frankly this term is also a mistake because it’s so much about good/bad and ignores history and peoples lives and what leads to events and it is a super WASP-y concept in its current iteration anyway with a belief that punity is justice when it is not. that is why i say get the fuck away from this dude instead of going to jail. we could see yong jie grow but FUCKING OUTSIDE OF XING SI.

i dont feel that way in many other shows. i feel fucking nothing for these men. not yong jie and not even the old guy from modc im just like ok you exist and i’m going to ignore you. there is nothing in my chest lmao. i look at them and feel cold, couldnt be drier, cos it’s stale and boring and trite and nothing new at all. it’s not realisitc and it’s not even entertaining. it’s just...there. 

i mean it’s there with the reminder of “oh man i am not interested in your love story also isn’t your boyfriend like 40 and you’re 17? why do you like each other again? does this kid have parents? Wait, what’s happening? uhhhh am i supposed to like this? where are his parents? what’s gonna happen when he turns 23 and realizes how fucked up that shit is? can we see that?” and before u know it the sex on screen is over so that was just unpleasant all around.

and i cannot give u a single reason for so many couples why they like each other. like literally what on earth is there for the two of these people to be attracted to. at least one is being swayed by power but what’s the other one doing? oh nothing he just sucks? ok got it.

if we don’t approach it from a “how do we get people to like a shitty person or a person who does things that harms others” it continues on like this. questioning questioning questioning the comfortableness and never thinking about what the fuck the victim can do, what the fuck is even going on in their heads. and if they can’t do that then we go back to the question: what is the purpose of it? if the answr is “just because” then you have a failure on your hands and a lot of annoyed people. sorry not sorry

Still can’t get over the fact that a Final Fantasy VII remake is a real thing and we got the release date!!!!!! in the “A Symphonic Reunion “ trailer!!!! . Aerith looks gorgeous, and Barret looks fresh. Bombing Mission ended, Cloud jumping inside the train, BUT THAT LAST SCENE!!!! THAT IS NEWWWWW!!! WHAT IS GOING OOONNNNN!!! I NEEED THIS GAME!!!... but I’m broken :(. If I only had the money to buy all the game episodes AND console... I said this in a post recently that the division winners should be 1 and 2 and the reseed accordingly. Yellow Pearl Takes Dictation

There is something about taking dictation for My Diamond that I particularly enjoy. Personally recording every brilliantly executed word as she addresses the community, Ah! I can’t even describe it. It’s just so… exciting. I’ve always considered formal diction to be an art in its own right and I would certainly say that it is an art that My Diamond has mastered.

This time My Diamond was addressing her colonies about the Era 2 resource shortage. There has been a great deal of discouragement and so she needed to address it. In any case I was happy to be a part of this process. I felt like the middle-gem. The conduit through which My Diamond’s noble message would be delivered. I had been doing this for so long that I was able to accurately gauge what was going through My Diamond’s mind based solely on her movements. I stood with my notepad one, ready to record. Right now My Diamond was standing upright with her hands behind her back, her chin was tucked slightly and her eyes were shut. I could hear her murmuring under her breath. She was finding the right words, trying to think of what she wanted to say. I watched in anticipation. Then, her eyes shot open.

“Pearl, write this down,” she had it, “‘I understand that there has been some hesitancy among the Agates in regards to the implementation of capital punishment. As resources continue to dwindle, many have noted that gems are not as…replaceable as they once were.’” My Diamond began to pace, she kept her gaze fixed downward with her finger raised, “‘While these are valid concerns, I must remind you all that recalcitrant behavior of any kind must not be tolerated. Gems must know what may happen should they step out of line and they must learn through example. If we begin to falter in carrying out our disciplinary action…’ hmmm,” My Diamond stopped pacing and shut her eyes once again and thoughtfully stoked her chin, “Pearl, erase that last sentence,” and so I did, “‘With every “extra warning” and every display of leniency – no matter how slight – the seeds of rebellion are sewn. It is for this reason that we must not falter in our punitive measures. Intractable gems will receive exactly one warning as has always been our practice. No more and no less. That being said, we do understand that many of you have been short on gem-power. We will address this issue as we prepare our...” My Diamond paused, furrowed her brow and let out an exasperated sigh, then she continued this time with an air audible frustration, “100-year plan. Until then there shall be no deviation from our typical practice.’ Signed, Yellow Diamond.” I could sense her hesitancy at the end. At this point, the 100-year plan was months overdue. My Diamond probably wanted to address this but what was she to say? She was still having a hard time getting a hold of the others.

I expected her to dismiss me after this but she just stood with her hands behind her back, her chin tucked slightly but her eyes were still open and her lips her pursed. I could tell that she knew exactly what she wanted to say and she knew who she wanted to say it to but it appeared as if she were trying to decide if she should say it. She looked up towards the ceiling, sighed and with an air of solemnity she said, “Pearl, write this down.”

There was a long pause...

“Blue Diamond,” Her voice was unusually calm. The authoritative tone wasn’t there. Here voice invoked a sense of concern and of genuine lament, “to say that you have been derelict would be a gross understatement. You’ve neglected your colonies, your duties, your gems. And now, in the wake of this shortage, you mismanage what little resources you have left.” My Diamond began to pace once more as concerned turned frustration, “Your delegation is all over the place, your annual reports are a jumbled mess, you still have not submitted your proposals for our 100-year plan, assuming that you even have any!” My Diamond was all but shouting at this point as she began to pace faster, “I know you, Blue! I’ve known you since we were young! You were not always like this! This isn’t you, damn it!” My Diamond stopped in her tracks, breathing heavily. She was completely tensed up, her fists were clenched and trembling down at her sides. She turned her gaze back at me, I suppose I should have looked away but I could not help but stare back. I think that, for a brief moment, she had forgotten that I was in the room. My Diamond, slightly abashed, take a deep breath to calm herself. then she said to me, “Erase that last sentence.” And so I did.

She continued, though her demeanor had changed. Her fists were still slightly clenched and she maintained a fierce scowl as she slowly shook her head, “Listen Blue,” Her voice was cold and bitter, “What happened on earth was devastating beyond description. I understand that, believe me, I do. But I must say that I am growing sick and tired of your selfishness in this matter. Need I remind you that you were not the only one affected by this tragedy? Need I remind you that you are not the only who lost someone important to her? You think I didn’t care about her? You think I don’t constantly think about her? Mourn her!? Of course, I do! But the universe doesn’t stop for me Blue! So why should it stop for you!?” My Diamond’s voice broke. For nearly a full minute, My Diamond stood stock still, as though she herself were frozen in time. She turned her gaze upward, her breathing slightly labored. After a while, I began to realize what was going on. She was holding back tears.

My Diamond, emotionally drained, sat down at her terminal. I was waiting for her to order me to erase those last few sentences. But, after another moment of silence, she said, “Pearl, send that to Blue’s terminal. Directly.”

“Er, yes, My Diamond. Right away.” In all my years of doing this for My Diamond, this was definitely the most emotionally charged messaged I’ve had to relay. As I sent it, I had a strong feeling that Blue Diamond would finally respond. Indeed, it was no longer a matter of if but of when.

Part 5: Revenge

"Back so soon?" "Uhm yeah Christian, I don't think I should keep looking at memories. I think it might be bad for my you know like brain." "Ahh the worries of the fragile human mind, the inconsistancies of the identity, ahh how they eat at all our flesh" "riight...well I gotta go, this is just getting kinda weird for me" "Would like me to take the memories out and just leave you with yours?" "I didn't know yo could do that, I thought 'what was seen was unseen' or whatever you said" "All memories can be forgetten however that doesn't mean they don't exist. Take my dear comrade Aiden for example, did you know without my assistance he only has one memory? just one single moment, can you believe that? However his whole life is a menagerie of many fascinating sensation I have explored. "One memory....like it's just Jenn?" "It would be hard to explain, but however I could show you" The thought of any piece of Aiden's mind unsettled me. I think he was right and unless I stop now, it will only make it harder to forget, memory erased or not. I'd never thought about all this before now. I thought I was just going to get Joni to maybe hold my hand and maybe idk....something, but fuck this is...I gotta stop now. This is fucked up. "I'm good man, I gotta go.." He ignored my goodbye and just kept rambling on. I felt bad, he must be lonely. "Yes one memory. Did you know that his singular memory is longer than everyone's memories here in camp combined? Yes indeed he has certainly had one long life span." "What like he's one of the first people in a camp who's age was paused?" "Not quite. He remained out of camps for quite a long time as well, I digrss though, when the worlds collided the time spirits paused all time on all sentiant life to try and organize it in tandem with one another. Since the world collided we have only aged about 4 years from the ages we left off at." He glanced at me like a teacher waiting for questions. I tried to listen to him the best I could, but he got boring surprisingly fast for a guy that knows everything. He continued. " However, our friend Aiden was alive all alone hiding at the remote northern tip of his planet for another 3427 years past his 19th birthday. He was living but only just so. More so warding off dying. Not that he was aware of this." I shuddered at the thought of it. I really gotta stop messing with this memory stuff.   "Alright cool, well see ya at the camp activity or whatever..." "Wait. Gray. Didn't you want me to restore your memory" I felt conflicted. It was like giving up many old friends all at once. But I knew once it was done I would feel better. I wouldn't miss being them if I never was. "Yeah let's just do it, I only want one person in my head" "Indeed you will only have one person in your mind" he said with a coy grin. He reached for hand and all at once everyth- ... ... ... ... ... .... .... .... .... ..... ..... .... .. . . . ... cold cold red her. her . cold no no no no no no no no no .. . .. .. . ... ... . ..here. here water here her. no cold.

That one place. that one thing. That one thing. That one thing. I knew Gray was a sliver of me but in comparison it was nothing compared to the other things that resided in my head. Christian stared at me as though he had won. I couldn't see anything but that place.   "Do you know how long you were there?" He inquired, not bothering to hold back glee. I had no reaction. I had no thoughts. I was completely numb. He continued to talk. "3427 years. Which is 1,250, 855 days. Or 30,020, 520 hours. 1,801,231,200 minutes. But you felt none of that. You felt everything in seconds. Long tiring seconds that lasted lifetimes. 108, 073,872,000 horrifying, soul shattering seconds. All each as painful as the last.  Just one single, lone memory over and over." Gray ran out of the room as fast as possible and seemed to abandon anything left of his mind. Weeks passed in a sickenly lonely daze. The sight of that blue eyed girl sent me running into the woods for hours that I cannot recall what I did. Food sickens me. Drugs are nothing. Nothing is more terrifying than sleep. Everyone keeps asking me questions I cannot answer nor know if I even put the words together to feign realization. I need to get out. I can't be here. I need. I need. Colors nauseated me. All sensation was washed to mute colors, sounds pierced my ears even in the quiet. I wanted to rip out my skin, out everyone's hearts, anything to make this go away. But there was nowhere left to go. I was trapped forever. Trapped. trapped. i need to leave. i can't leave. this is everything. no i don't think this...i'm not that, i'm not.....

Before Gray realized it he was standing in the center of the kitchen breathing erratically and darting his eyes all around looking for, looking for SOMETHING. No, no, no, no,no ,no... "Having fun douche bag?" He looked upon me as he knew. How could he? I guess how could he not. I was caught and I didn't care, I just wanted it to stop. "So you'll leave my girlfriend alone now?" I looked on his glassy eyes. They were that terrifying bright blue I hated and feared so very much these days. He was happy to see me this way? "Wh-what?"

"I said unless you wanna live in crazy dipshit land anymore you'll stay the fuck away from my girlfriend right?"

"You.....you did this?"

"I saw you going to get hard on Christian's dick and I figured I could get something out of it. I was pissed at you for thinking you could ever be with my girlfriend, so i had to do something that I knew for sure would keep you away from her. So next time you make eyes at my girl think how I could put you back in this place whenever I want." Gray lunged at Aiden intent with murder. HE WOULD NOT TAKE HER AWAY. HE WOULD NOT MAKE THIS STOP. I NEED TO SEE. I BELONG HERE. I WANT OUT. I DON'T WANT THIS. I CAN'T LEAVE. HE WON'T TAKE MAKE HER GO AWAY. "Yeaaaah nice try fucker, you think you could kill me with my thoughts? Go fuck yoruself." Gray lay restrained on the floor sobbing and screaming. The commotion made a crowd of people begin entering the kitchen and circle around him. "Whoa what happened to Gray? Naruto and I were just finishing each other -I MEAN, we were finishing a video game, but it was hard to concentrate with all the screaming. Is he okay?" "Looks as if he has lost his mind...literally." Cloud stated dully. Tifa kneeled down beside Gray and raised her voice to tell everyone to back off and give him space. "Get off of him Aiden!! Go! Gray? Gray.....are you okay? It's Tifa. I want to help." "No, no, no Tifa let me do it! I'm better  at this, that's why Cloud and Zack fell in my church, i know how to help these situations." Tifa looked annoyed with her friend's condescending reply. Aerith was like a sister to her, and like a sister, knew how to get under her skin more than anyone. "helllllooooooooo!? hellloooooooo?" The pink girl leaned in with her hands poised behind her back. Nothing happened. Tifa ignored Aerith's assertion, however did not know how to handle this situation. She gingerly placed her hand on his shoulder as he flinched back. She may not have answers for him, but she could at least comfort him through the worst. Despite Gray not being her committed lover, she still to this day had feelings for him. It seems everytime she loved someone they didn't want her or she ruined it with her own bullshit feelings. Maybe now that she was doing better he needed her and she was good at being needed. Gray continued to sob on the floor. A miniscule part of his mind enjoyed Tifa's comfort, but it didn't fix anything. He was eternally lost. The realization like that sent him deep into another emotionally spiral. "I NEEED HER. JEEENNNNNNNNNNN. JENNNNNN. OH GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE. HELP ME. HELP ME." "Oh my god why is he saying my name? That is sooo weird." Lana couldn't help but to laugh to Marcus despite all the chaos in front of them. The way Jenn said weird had become one of their favorite inside jokes lately. "Isn't he acting  just like Aiden....who you love?" Lana pointed out to the horrified teenager looking upon Gray with disgust. "oh my god, no. Aiden is NOT like that. When he gets...." she paused to think of a more tolerable synonym for 'crazy' and went on "....emotional it's cause he loves me so much. Gray is just being weird.” Lana's laughs became audible on the second weird that seemed to punctuate most of Jenn's sentences. She glanced at Marcus who genuinely looked concerned for Gray. He squeezed Lana’s harder than she had ever felt in the past. Marcus rarely acted what people would call “vulnerable” but when it came to violence or people being totally nutso he seemed to get edgy. "Dont' worry he's just nuts babe, who knows what's going on in that crazy fucker's mind." Aiden sneered. The irony of that sentence was completely lost on Jenn and disregarded by Aiden. He winked at Gray and pulled the scared girl close to his chest to protect her from this 'insanity.' "Take care of him Christian, I've had my fun." Christian nodded and began removing his glove, as he approached Gray, he got pushed to the floor and the deranged shirtless man ran far, far out of sight of all the onlookers.

Guidelines for your Professional Portfolio Presentations

The video presentations are to stand in for what would have been the in-person presentation day where you would have presented your portfolio to a panel of teachers, industry professionals and peers. As you know we cannot do this now.

Instead you are asked to show your portfolio, website, social media and other marketing materials in a concise 2–5 minute (approximate) piece to camera.You will up-load this to studynet or provide us with a link from a video sharing site or server.This will be submitted on deadline. The videos will be looked at by myself, Mark Wilkinson and Carl Bigmore.

The prepared and rehearsed pitch should work to introduce you to us –your audience. You should aim to get across a bit of who you are-presenting yourself, your work and your brand to us. Imagine it is a little like a job interview where you are convincing us of your skills, talent and ability. It should be professional –but not without personality. Try to find the right balance between informality and professionalism.

Response to Brief

Due to Covid 19, we were requested to create a digital presentation of my portfolio. Therefore, I decided to make a video of myself, talking about my work and my process. As a follower of photography, whether that’s through exhibition, prints, photo book, social media, etc. I regularly watch videos of photographers and their process. Upon watching these videos often and the brief’s requirement. I then came up with various ideas for the video presentation.

Ideas / Goals for presentation

-Mini Interview of myself= I wanted the video to be a formal but with character. I like this idea an interview style, as I have already created an interview of myself where I talk about my work. I thought it would fit the presentation video. As it’s a presentation, I want to introduce myself and my approach to photography, I see this as an opportunity to improve on my video making skills as well as my talking skills.

-Me in my room talking about my process= Since we are very limited to options, I thought what better way to create a video whilst I’m in my room where I spend most of days in. With the video to be a formal style, by having an environment of the room, the video can showcase my own character to it.

-Blend of video and photographs= As I’m a photographer, I will incorporate my images in the video as I talk about my projects and practice.

-Working in the field video= I have couple of videos that I have shot recently which I can put in the video to give more insight of my process.

-Short Video= I will aim to make the video about 5 minutes as it’s enough to introduce myself, my portfolio, brand and goals. 

-Prepared and rehearsed pitch= My mini interview that I had conduced will come in handy with this as I will present myself, work and my brand.

Overall, I will present like a professional rather than a student. I will aim to find a balance between professional and casual, which I think reflects my work and practice. 

Inspiration

I have been heavily inspired by the video above by Negative Feedback which is a Youtube channel that talks and discusses various topics around photography. The video explores the work of a young photographer, Cian Oba Smith who I also follow. 

I really like the flow of the video as it follows and explores Smith’s approach and practice through a professional yet informal way. The “interview” esque video in the room feels format yet quite informal, I like this juxtaposition. This is great for this particular occasion. I will aim to replicate this style.

The video also shows Smith’s photographs through a minimal and simply way whilst Smith explains his practice. I like this idea as it helps to show work whilst also you hear the feedback and ongoing thought process of the artist.

I like this varied shots in the video where the camera gives an insight onto Smith’s personal life, we see more of him and his personality through his room as an audience. 

In my video, I will aim to do the same of having varied shots to show more of myself and my room to give further insight about me.

I also liked this idea of showing Smith as he works in the real world, interacting with his subjects and doing what he does best. 

In my video, I aim to also show videos of me working in the field or perhaps a video that presents my work in a different way other than my room to give further insight to my work.

This video by Negative Feedback has heavily influenced me to create a presentation video that’s simple yet very effective in showcasing myself and my work whilst in the comfort in my room. 

Test 

Through the inspirations, I wanted to test right away. I did so with two cameras, one at each side. Unfortunately due to planned problems, I misplaced my tripod socket therefore I had to improvise. I used household solutions to my problem which you can see from the image above.

The image above shows my lighting, video and audio test. The lighting was perfect as the room faced the east, the lighting was bright as I faced towards the window. The only minor issue was the audio as I was on a busy street, there were occasional noises coming from the outside which I had to be wary of. I also have my post production sorted as I’m already familiar with  and use Premiere Pro. 

The test was a great success, giving me hope and clarity that I neeed.

Pitch

As the presentation was to be assessed on our pitch, I have prepared a list of notes that I want to talk about in the video. 

-Brief intro about myself= Casual introduction to yourself, what you and your practice in photography.

-Artistic Statement= Since I created mine earlier in previous posts, I can use my statement to introduce the audience into my practice whilst being brief and clear.

-Projects= With regards to the statement, I want to the talk about how I have explored the things that I mention in my statement. For example, exploring identity in my recent project.

-Diaristic practice= I want to explain my approach towards photography and my own thoughts about photography.

-Branding= Explaining my brand identity, website, social media or other marketing materials.

-Commercial work= The first talk talked about my artistic practice. In this segment, I want to explore my commercial work and how that pieces together and how that’s influenced by my personal work as well as my brand.

-Reflection= Evaluate and reflect upon your work up until, explain your strengths and weaknesses.

-Aims= For the ending, I want to talk about my life after Uni and my plans for that part of my life.

Now that I’ve got the technical aspects of the video down. In future posts, I will plan my pitch using the notes above. I will expand on these notes but will aim to keep it brief and clear.

So I recently got out of college & im looking 4 a retail job. The problem is, finding a job is so hard!!! I'm a naturally shy person and going to interviews and talking to people is hard, but I do it! Anyway, I went on several interviews in the past few weeks & I was turned down by all of them! I dnt know wht to do! :( I NEEED A JOB! and I want to work retail so that I can build up me resume as i do now have any retail experience! I don't get why they won't hire me?! any advice? xx

I had a very similar problem, I literally looked for a job for MONTHS. Looking for a job, especially when you don’t have a lot of experience is a hard process and it will be full of rejection, sometimes you will get an interview and sometimes you don’t even get a call back, try not to take it too personally and keep trying! As for the interview process, there are a few things you can do to make your interviews more successful. First of all, I would google the specific store that you are about to go interview for and see what other people have said about the interview process. For example, if you are about to interview for a job at Target, google “Target interview process” and see what other people are saying so you can be prepared. Also look up just general interview questions and prepare yourself for the questions. Make sure to speak clearly and make eye contact, always answer positively to questions, for example if an employer asks you “Do you have any job experience?” And you don’t have any formal experience, say I haven’t worked a retail job, however I have babysat or something else similar to that and explain that the responsibilities you had there prepared you for this job. Also I have to ask, are you 100% set on having a job in retail? I only say this because you described yourself as being shy and not very good at talking to people, and I have the exact same issue. I worked one retail job and I did not have a very good experience because customers were very confrontational and it just made me uncomfortable because again I was shy and not very good at talking to people, but your experience will vary based on where you work. I do not want to discourage you and say that you can’t do it, because I believe you can do anything you set your mind to, but if you have other options for somewhere to work I would suggest at least checking them out. Best of luck to you! And remember to keep your head up and be persistent, you got this!

yo, May was fine. a long month for me, but that was okay because work was not as demanding as most months. i got to see some friends and bands in West Palm and i got to see some family in Buffalo - visiting all my homes, haha!

i think i like checking in like this, on my New Years goals. these goals are pretty uhm superficial, i guess - a lot of my i guess deeper goals started last year around World Suicide Prevention Day in September. for example, i am finally gaining ground on some health-related things and i have been exercising more regularly than i have ever before.

most of my writing is for me, but since a few folks seem to keep tabs on these posts, let me catch you up on my New Years things, yeah?

Buy at least 5 albums from artists/bands you have never bought albums from before - easy sauce. check out albums from Betty Who, A R I Z O N A, flor, Misterwives, Paramore, Harry Styles, Have Mercy, Ed Sheeran, MUNA, The Maine. i ve been those. looking forward to Lorde, Bleachers this month (i think).

Complete at least 1 book every month - this one has actually been hard to keep track of because i have actually been overlapping books, which i do not usually do, but i have read at least 5, so i am on track i guess

Watch a movie you have never seen before every week - haha, this one is going great. there are weeks where i watch more than 5 ‘new’ movies. some notable ones from the last few weeks are The Patriot, Pirates of the Caribbean (5), Never Let Me Go and Brick. these last two are favorites to two of my homies, so those are extra special. very much looking forward to Baby Driver, Atomic Blonde, Dunkirk, Leap and some others in next few weeks

Complete a 10k - yo, about two weeks ago i went for a run and did over two miles without stopping, which is a best for me. now, a 10k is about 6.3 miles i think, so i got some work to do, but i am thinking that i can do this. i am aiming for the fall!

Finish writing a song, record (on your phone is good - you ain’t got money) it, and then post that on the internet - stay tuned.

Get started on the tattoo you’ve been wanting, and then DON’T post about that on the internet - yeah, this will be the cherry on top of everything else, but we gotta make the rest of the sundae first

Self accountability

Okay so this is comething that has been on my mind since the night before last and I’ve really struggled to put into words on paper essentially but I really want to put it out there because I feel like this is something people may be able to relate to and it would be nice to look back at if I find myself struggling,

So a few nights ago I got into an argument with my signinicant other. Long story short I just was not comfortable with someone he was talking to and he saw no problem with it. Unfortunately I am extremely insecure, especially now and I have always seen this girl as a threat.

During the fight, amongst other things, my boyfriend told me I just like to create drama. I like to create an argument, that I just want to find something to get angry at. Of course my knee jerk reaction was to tell him he was high as a kite and shooting smoke out his ass but thennnnnnnn I got to thinking ,after that night.

Now I am in no way making myself into a groveling twit begging for forgiveness. He was very wrong in this argument. However he did make a few valid points.

In my last post I said something about how I am used to chaos. Something good will happen to me and it will be followed by some great catastrophe. So to me chaos is essentially more normal then being calm. I know, it sounds insane but it is what it is I suppose. So when things are going okay or even good I am not comfortable. I am on edge because I am contemplating the next disaster.

This obviously causes me a great deal of anxiety and causes me to literally worry about every little detail. I have never been much of a go with the flow kind of person. Everything has to be planned down to the very last detail. It may not seem this way but inside my head trust me the soldiers are all in order. If something is out of order I panic.

Unfortunately this panic comes out as rage. It comes out as a person I really really do not enjoy. It comes out as this controlling psychopathic perfectionist. I feel horrible because there have been many times where I have wanted something to change or I worry about something but I have worked myself up into such a tizzy that all it does is cause conflict. For example. I wanted my, friend, to stop smoking weed because I was worried that it would ruin their upcoming job opportunity. when the person did not want to do what I wanted I became enraged and called them a drug addict and a piece of shit. I am not proud of this and I really actually hate myself for it. Because truthfully this person is wonderful, I was just so overly concerned that i became angry.

This is unfortunately something that has happened to me multiple times throughout my life. I think it stems from having very little control in my life. I was a very sick child, so i had to go to doctors, and have procedures and life was very....regimented. As I got older it became easier but things were still very closely monitored.

Another thing is and it’s something that really makes me insane is I always have someone telling me what to do or how to think and most of the time it is a person of higher authority so I feel I am unable to stand up for myself. Unfortunately I then project my negative emotions onto another person. For shining example someone had a negative opinion about someone I love, I knew deep down inside this opinion was not true but because it kept getting drilled into my head I began to believe it and attacked said person emotionally about the opinion about them. I knew it was wrong but I did it anyways to get rid of a cognitive dissonance that was occurring inside my mind.

Anyways wow I really got off track. Back to what my boyfriend said. Me creating situations of high stress and drama. Unfortunately I am finding through my self reflection that I am becoming a very negative person. I complain a lot more than I feel I should and I feel I have more negative to speak than positive. This is not the person I am trying to be. I would love to be happy and positive again.

So when my boyfriend told me I create drama I honestly think I do. As I said the environment that I am used to, the environment that I thrive in is one of great demand and stress. I may bitch and complain about it but if things are quiet I get anxious and twitchy. So when there is nothing going on I feel as though I need to create a stir. Obviously I don’t just make up stories but I do feel that I tend to blow little things way out of proportions.

So when I get into an argument with someone over something small. Instead of letting it end and be over with I drag it on into a two day show down.

Another thing I feel I do is i sabotage myself before I even get close to a point of success. I am so crammed in the negative it ends up shaping a horrible outcome. I worry too much about everything so much so that I just give up on happiness before it even has a chance to flourish.

I also think that I expect way too much out of people. I expect the one I love the most to be Superman and turn everything around in the blink of an eye. I am in too much of a rush in life. Too much of a rush that I forget to stop and smell the flowers.

I have also gotten away from the things I love the most. I haven’t written any books or short stories in months, I just started to read again and even then I can’t stay focused for more than five seconds. I haven’t worked on my drawings in a week either.

Honestly, and my father is going to literally throw his fingers in my face and say I told you so but I think half of my problem is social media. I think I may need to take a break for awhile. Not necessarily from here because here is where I come to relieve stress through my writing and other forms of expression but the other forms like Facebook and Instagram. I have become way too consumed with being concerned with what those around me think.

That is another thing my boyfriend said that resignated with me. He told me he doesn’t post on social media, he doesn’t let people know what he is doing and you know what, he is far less stressed out.

So I think starting tomorrow I am going to delete all of my media accounts. From now until the 1st of the year at least. I want to see how I do. I want to see how my mentality changes. I want to see if I am less depressed and less anxious.

I am ready for change. I am ready to not be the person that I have been for literally years.

A lot of what people don’t know is that I am very ashamed of my past. I’m not going to go into detail but I did a lot of questionable things when I was a teenager and even more so after my mother died. I got a reputation that I am not proud of. It is following me everywhere and I cannot escape it.

Ya know, you start to look at all of your relationships in life. Not just boyfriend and girlfriend but friends and family too. When relationships fail we are so quick to blame the other person. We are so quick to point out their flaws because we as humans do not like being wrong.

Trust me it takes a lot and I mean a lot for me to admit when I have done something wrong. I don’t like to say sorry, I am extremely stubborn but you know what? Looking back on everything I realize now that a lot of the times I was the problem.

I am not at all saying people did not do wrong things to me because a few of you who do know what I have experienced know that’s not true. I am saying though that there were a lot of situations I could have handled a lot better.

I realize now that I can be a very toxic individual. I jump to conclusions, I am very quick to temper, I am a control freak, I am a narcissist in a lot of ways, I am an attention whore....which is just another fun word for narcissism right? I don’t know anyways, I am also very stubborn, I project a lot onto other people, I have a lot of cognitive dissonance and finally I allow my thoughts to control my life far too much.

They say that the first step in recovery is to admit you have a problem. I am going to be working very hard to get over my toxic traits and over all be a better person. I am going to desperately try to look at the positive instead of the negative. I am going to try to just take things as they come instead of worry about things that are years down the road. In the same respect I am also going to let go of the things that happened in the past. If they aren’t going to matter when I die they don’t matter now.

And I don’t need validation from the internet and I am not posting this so people gush over me. I mean yes it is nice to feel like someone may read this and support me but I don’t neeed it. This is just a way for me to express my inner thoughts and emotions. I could write this is a diary but half the time it’s late at night and I can’t see to write.

So, I'm 16, and getting a bike is basically a tradition in my family.
