Hello again!

I wanted to ask about how you came to this fandom and how you learned anatomy. Muscular guys are not my thing, but I’m learning to draw them and, to be honest, I often watch how you do it. and one more question. How do you feel about Ghost designs that don't look like yours? do you feel like an important figure in cod fandom?

how did you come to this fandom?

i got into this fandom from watching edits on tiktok and im only a little embarrassed about it. there was one that really pulled me in that was just a compilation of all the ghost/soap banter in that 'alone' mission - i sorta instantly fell headfirst into the fandom after that, and didn't look back.

how do you draw muscular men?

it's really flattering to hear you sometimes look at my work as a reference, but im speaking honestly here when i say i have a loooot that i need to work on and my stuff might not be the best resource. I take a lot of my pointers from anatomy studies i find on pinterest, and build on the basics by googling male mannequins in google images. I find that it helps to break things down into sections like this.

i dont include this level of detail in my day to day work though, this is more to try hammer it into my brain how things work at certain angles.

how do you feel about ghost designs that don't look like yours?

i don't feel any which way about different ghost designs tbh :) i think it's a strength of this fandom that ghost's face never gets fully revealed in game, so any of our interpretations could be correct. i like my interpretation of him and konig, but i don't feel any particular possessiveness over them.

do you feel like an important figure in this fandom?

er...not really? i hope i'm not, i think that label comes with a lot of responsibility, and anyway i try not to really think of things that way. i'm just here having fun with these characters and sharing it, and if people like it then i'm glad! but i like to keep to myself and a small circle of fandom friends and that's all i really need :]

I Got Sunshine in a Bag

Something else a bit different today! I had a different fic idea, but when I started writing it it was already becoming a bit long and involved and tbh, I had such a busy/painy week last week that I really had to cut back on the fic time! So I whipped this one together in my phone notes app instead, short 'n sweet. It's audio script format-ish, which is something I like to play with sometimes. Very much skimping on the detail/sound design though as I really just wanted focus on the dialogue and get something out today! 1.2, T-rated, also available on Ao3. Thanks again, @painlandweek!

Silence. A hollow, echoing emptiness, broken by slow, deliberate breathing. Then, muffled as if from the other side of a wall, a voice:

EDWIN: Charles?

Beat.

EDWIN: Charles, where are you?

Another beat. Then, a clearer voice, hoarse and weary:

CHARLES: In here.

EDWIN: ... Oh. In the…?

CHARLES: Yeah.

EDWIN: I see.

Beat.

EDWIN: May I… come in?”

CHARLES: ...Yeah.

EDWIN: Right.

Fabric rustles.

EDWIN: Ah, if you wouldn’t mind…?

CHARLES: Oh, yeah, yeah. Here. Grab my hand.

Leather squeaks against leather. More rustling, and some slight huffing. The barrier breaks, and Edwin's voice returns clear and close.

EDWIN: Thank you. Hm. Have you redecorated?

CHARLES: Shoved some stuff around.

EDWIN: It’s very… homely.

CHARLES: (chuckles) Cheers.

Silence again, this time with two sets of breathing. Then, the slight creak of a weight sinking down onto leather cushions.

EDWIN: Charles. Are you… alright? You disappeared in quite a hurry.

CHARLES: 'M fine.

EDWIN: ...

CHARLES: Stop lookin’ at me like that.

EDWIN: Like what?

CHARLES: Like... (laughs) Like you can see right through me.

EDWIN: (lightly) I’ve no idea what you mean.

CHARLES: Right.

Beat.

CHARLES: I… I panicked. A bit.

EDWIN: Whatever for?

Beat.

CHARLES: ... You ever have to say something, or like, wanna say something, yeah, but… but you know once you say it, things’ll be different, and it’s fucking terrifying so instead you just… don’t?

EDWIN: I am… familiar with that anxiety, yes. But if there’s something you want to say to me, Charles, I promise I’ll do my utmost to take it in good faith. You need not fear repercussions. I don’t imagine there’s much you could tell me that would change my opinion of you.

CHARLES: I know. I don’t — I don’t even think things'll be bad different. If anything they’ll be good different. Great different. I’m just a proper coward.

Edwin tuts.

EDWIN: Charles. You are a great many things, but a coward is not one of them.

Charles chuckles, quietly. Edwin follows suit.

EDWIN: Hm. Now. Will you say what you wish to say?

Leather creaks, fabric rustles.

CHARLES: Edwin?

EDWIN: Yes, Charles?

CHARLES: You know I… I love you. Yeah?

EDWIN: What a question. Yes, Charles. I know that you love me. I’ve about thirty years of anecdotal evidence to the fact.

CHARLES: No — I mean, yeah, but what I'm tryna say is…

EDWIN: ?

CHARLES: You know I’m… I’m in love with you. Yeah?

Beat.

EDWIN: ...Oh.

CHARLES: Mm.

EDWIN: That is… a revelation.

CHARLES: News to me too, mate.

EDWIN: How long have you…?

CHARLES: Known? Not long. Week or so. How long have I loved you? Fuck, I don’t even… now that I know it’s there, it. It feels like it’s always been there. Know what I mean?

EDWIN: ... Yes. Yes, Charles. I most assuredly do.

Beat. Charles laughs, breathless.

CHARLES: Bloody hell. This is terrifying. How’d you just come out with this, when you thought of it?

EDWIN: There was some deliberation, believe it or not. I didn’t just declare my undying love to you on a whim.

CHARLES: Oh, so you planned it for the run from Hell, then?

EDWIN: There may have been some… last minute amendments to the plan. An element of improvisation, perhaps, when things seemed dire. One must adapt to changing circumstances. But there was a plan. I even dressed for the occasion, if you recall.

CHARLES: Wait. You got all dressed up for me?

EDWIN: Yes. Certainly took you long enough to notice.

CHARLES: Fuck. You were gonna tell me, weren't you? Before...

EDWIN: Before we were interrupted? Yes. And then I had no idea we would both make it out in one piece, and I... had to speak off the cuff.

CHARLES: (laughs) You’re proper mad. And just… just brave. Never met no one as brave as you, Eds.

EDWIN: (softly) Nor I you.

CHARLES: Pfft. Had to scurry off into a little hidey hole and have a panic before I even got up the guts to tell you.

EDWIN: But you did tell me.

CHARLES: ... Yeah. (laughs) Yeah, s’pose I did, didn’t I?

EDWIN: Charles?

CHARLES: Yeah?

EDWIN: May I kiss you, now?

CHARLES: Oh, Christ, yeah.

Kissing sounds, soft, tentative. Then a break, mutual heavy breathing.

EDWIN: ...Well.

CHARLES: Wow.

EDWIN: I’ve… wanted to do that for quite some time.

CHARLES: Me too. And I had no sodding idea. (laughs) How thick can you get?

EDWIN: Do stop being self-deprecating and kiss me again.

CHARLES: Now that, I can do.

Kissing again, louder, more intent.

EDWIN: Mmm…

CHARLES: God. (kiss) I love you. (kiss) I love you. (laughs) I fucking love you!

EDWIN: You don’t have to keep saying it.

CHARLES: Say it as many times as I bloody like, mate. ‘Specially if you keep grinning at me like that.

EDWIN: (chuckles) You’ve rather shown me up. I’ve only said it once, so far.

CHARLES: Got some catching up to do then, don’t you?

EDWIN: Mmm. (kiss) I love you.

Beat.

EDWIN: (sarcastically)... No, Charles. I loved you for thirty years but I got bored of waiting for you to say it back after six months(!) Yes, I still bloody love you.

CHARLES: Just checking. Give us another kiss?

EDWIN: Well. If you insist.

More kissing, rustling fabric. Leather creaking, soft sighs.

EDWIN: Hm… Charles?

CHARLES: (dazed) Yeah, love?

EDWIN: Something’s, ah… something appears to be prodding me in the stomach...

CHARLES: What? Um… Oh! (chuckles) Forgot I had that.

A loud cascade of rattles.

CHARLES: ... What? (laughs) Don’t mean I’m not happy to see you.

EDWIN: Why on Earth do you have… what looks to be an authentic Aboriginal rainstick on your sofa?

CHARLES: Well. Never know when you might need one, do you?

Another chorus of rattles and a hollow wooden thump.

EDWIN: Naturally. Come to think of it, how did you even get this sofa in here?

CHARLES: It’s one of them flatpack types. Put the bits in, assembled it in here. Pretty straightforward.

EDWIN: Yes, but more to the point: why?

CHARLES: So I can… have panic attacks and snog fit boys on it?

EDWIN: Bring many fit boys back here, do you?

CHARLES: Nah. (quick kiss) Saving it for the best.

EDWIN: (dryly) How romantic.

CHARLES: Take you somewhere bit nicer for the second date. Promise.

EDWIN: Oh, it wasn't a complaint. Who wouldn’t wish to have a romantic tryst in a backpack?

CHARLES: Magic backpack. C’mon, now, be fair.

hey penny!! i hope you're doing good :] not sure if you're looking for any feedback right now for midnight snap so if this message is unwarranted then no hard feelings at all <3 maybe it's just me and tbh it's hard for me to tell bc it's probably subjective, but as someone who's particularly sensitive to sound it sometimes feels like your voice gets lost in certain game music in your videos. i've listened both on mobile and on desktop and i think it's worse on desktop, more comfortable on mobile (for some reason). like, i find myself straining to hear you and pretty often i need to pause to take breaks because i get easily overstimulated. it's definitely not sfx that get me, just background music you know??? i especially noticed it in your freddi fish video around the start of the second game, but it's in other videos too like when you played animal crossing. it isn't too bad though tbh, still overall a super cozy series and i'm grateful you're still doing it!! if everything stays the same, i'll still watch it. i'd really love to know what you think and if you can confirm if anyone else has said something like this, i wonder if there's any merit to what i'm saying cause i just wanna help ^^;

i appreciate the feedback! i'll admit i'm still definitely trying to nail down the sound mixing of Midnight Snap. there's a LOT that goes into it between recording environment, VST setups for my live microphone effects, post-processing effects when it makes it to the actual edit timeline, etc. also admittedly this is a genre of content i'm still relatively new to making (never dabbled in asmr or anything) and though it's easy to put out a super long video normally and have people say its good for sleeping as a fun side effect, actually trying to make something FROM THE GROUND UP for relaxation comes with a lot of consideration i'm still not quite specialized in yet haha, especially with how long the breaks have been up to now. none of this is meant to handwave ur issues btw im taking everything into account here, just wanted to explain why its somewhat in flux right now!

my approach for the last few episodes of the show has been to heavily compress the dynamics of the audio, which might contribute to what ur dealing with here. although at the end of the day there's not much i can do to anticipate literally every individual user's listening conditions cause there's gonna be sooo much variance there. i can definitely try to put more focus on maybe separating the heaviest frequences of the voice track vs the game track though. as it stands i tend to cut back on the high frequencies a lot in both cases cause i personally just find higher frequencies a lot more distracting and harsh and to me what ends up sounding soothing is a very smooth and rumbly kind of profile. but of course audio mixing is all about balance so i'll see how i can maybe dial that in a little more distinctly! hopefully as i continue to standardize what editing software i use for the show as well as how it's recorded i can do more to brush out any remaining issues in the sound design :) thanks again!

shape language + dsmp cast !

Over the past year or so I’ve been slowly (very slowly lmfao) teaching myself to draw, and part of that process has been learning how shapes dictate meaning and emotion, so just for funsies I decided to do a full analysis of the shapes I usually use when drawing the cast of DSMP. Full analysis under the cut~

From left to right, top to bottom:

c!Dream — Typically, triangles communicate action, dynamism, or danger, all of which are pretty fitting for this guy, so the overall impression of his shape is usually triangular. His design also tends to use a lot of rectangles, which (because they contain elongated vertical lines) communicate a solidity that is less stable than, say, a square.

c!George — My design for him is very circular. Circles are made up of curves, so they tend to communicate softness and safety, as well as inaction or passivity. Since he can sometimes be quite a passive character in comparison to others, I usually go with a circle-based design for him.

c!Sapnap — I see Sapnap as a very complex character with a lot of different sides, at times extremely impulsive and at other times quite stable. Because of this, the shape I like to use for him is the rhombus, a type of parallelogram. Think of it like a square that’s leaning to one side: it still communicates the solidity and dependability of a square, but the diagonal lines that make up the shape mitigate that impression by suggesting motion/tension.

c!Punz — The base shape for Punz is usually either a short rectangle or a square, communicating reliability, while the face shape tapers into a point to suggest dynamism. He’s tricksy but dependable.

c!Techno — This guy’s always made up of circles and squares! Sturdy, reliable, approachable, strong, friendly. An all-around (haha get it) great guy.

c!Philza — I see Phil as one of those characters who, despite being very affable, has got a lot going on under the surface, so I didn’t want to stick to simple shapes for him. The shape I usually go with is an oval, because it carries the safety and amiability that roundness lends, as well as the slight instability implied by the long vertical lines in an oval.

c!Sam — This guy’s mostly squares! Strong, dependable, solid, secure…but also deeply inflexible.

c!Quackity — Nearly every shape in this design is some kind of triangle because that’s how I see Q: unpredictable, sharp, active. Triangles effortlessly convey the volatility associated with his character arc.

c!Wilbur — Okay, this is a tough one. Wilbur is a super manic character. This bad boy can fit so many shapes in him! His design usually features a pointed nose (triangular), a square jaw (strength/conviction), and either a rectangular or oval-shaped head. Wilbur can do (and be) a lot of things at once, so I really wanted his shapes to get that point across.

c!Tommy — Since he and Tubbo are both some of the younger server members, I like to include circles in their designs since roundness conveys youth. Tommy’s face shape usually tapers into a more pointed chin because he’s so active and volatile, he needs some pointy bits to show it!

c!Ranboo — The predominant shape here is a LONG rectangle. When it comes to rectangles, the wider the base, the more stable the shape ends up looking. But if the rectangle is much taller than its width, it conveys instability or even anxiety. I want Ranboo to look like he could topple over at any moment.

c!Tubbo — Just like Tommy, Tubbo’s primary shape is circular to communicate youth. But since Tubbo is a somewhat less active character than Tommy (a statement that’s true of most characters TBH) his circles are wider, sort of more squashed, to represent a state of semi-stability.

I could go on about this for way longer but I’m gonna cap this post here. There are a ton of characters I haven’t covered obviously, so LMK if there’s anyone else in particular whose shapes you’d like to see me break down.

not sure how helpful some of these will be since they're just what i do for my personal projects but for sure!!!

uuuuhhh basic overview stuff

if you're doing an oc blog, chances are it probably won't receive as much attention as a canon character/story blog. just sort of the way things go! if you want to draw some attention, you might want to think about non-ask related stuff you can post (clangen blogs do this with the mini event posts, keeps the world moving!)

even with canon character blogs, giving pieces of character lore, worldbuilding, mini stories can help keep the world more alive. but that's when you got time and if it seems fun, you should just do things if you want to tbh

i keep all my stuff in a doc and add and edit whenever i put new info on the blog to keep things consistent. i just put them in little sections to help me find things (beanie lore, worldbuilding, spirits, etc.) but simple bullet points are easy.

if you're doing an original character and world, i would highly recommend giving your readers some worldbuilding and lore to help them invest themselves. people don't know the boundaries of things and while you can have them ask, a little nudge definitely helps.

for a canon blog, i'd pick a specific time period. it'll save you grief if you know who's alive and who isn't, as well as the grief that comes with trying to figure out what you want to change (if you want to change things that is. i like fucking with canon but it really is up to you and the story you want to tell).

you can improvise it as you go, but i do recommend jotting them down somewhere after the fact so you can keep things consistent. up to you though, i just have a piss poor memory lol

figure out if you want to try and do an overarching story, mini stories, or no stories. you don't have to decide right away and you can even decide after you start the blog and get a vibe of what people are interested in, but sometimes it is good to jot them down if they come to you right away.

you're supposed to have fun if you're not having fun don't do it, take a break from the blog or steer it in the direction you want. no one is paying you (i think) so everything you do you should do because you enjoy doing it.

art for an ask blog (if ur doing art if not skip this)

your main character should be easy to recreate on model and most importantly: fun to draw!!! overly complicated character designs are fun in the beginning but after five or more you're going to start to hate them.

i'd also recommend against doing too many tiny "floating" bits, keeping things attached to a body part or in proximity to a space easy to recreate them will save you grief. i learned this the hard way after i kept forgetting all those damn tiny scars i put on my fallen stars!firestar design. in comparison, beanie's design for the blog has a few scars but the placement makes it so they're easy to recreate and draw.

(how i style my reference sheets. do not be me. do not fall into hubris and add so many damn floaty scars to a character that is the main damn character of your goddamn big ass au blog. fucking icarus move lol)

if you introduce a new character, make an easy quick ref sheet for yourself. it'll save you grief and keep things consistent.

i'd also figure out if you want to do colors or no colors. no coloring means you have more time to put effort into sketches and can just move faster if you're looking for something breezy and easy. but colors look good, they make it easier to tell cats apart and are just much nicer on the eyes. if you also have a bigger cast in mind, you can rely on colors a little more than body shapes to make sure everyone can be told apart

i color my sketch lines different colors for different characters on the beanie blog but there are plenty of other ways to make sure characters are told apart! @/askcinders does distinct shapes and different base colors for different characters and lines distinct markings so you can tell whose who.

backgrounds are...difficult. i'd recommend simplicity over complexity and save big backgrounds for "big moments", but it's up to you if you like them! i would just say go simple since the focus of these blogs are the characters.

theeeeennn speech bubbles or no speech bubbles. i like doing doing speech bubbles within the text because it gives me more control of the order the reader will read the dialogue, how they read it, the emotions i can elicit from it, and more fun with how i can place the dialogue. buuuuuut that does mean spacing them, and spacing dialogue bubbles can be a pain since it takes up room if you forget to sketch their placement in the original sketch (which i do. a lot).

so the other option is art and then dialogue underneath directly in the post. this saves you room, makes art probably a lot easier, and circumvents the issue of difficult to read speech bubbles! i do both but it's up to you, both methods are tried and true.

aaannnndd that's all that comes to mind? really it's just about having fun. as you work at it, chances are you'll probably figure out your own individual work style. best of luck (and i'm very excited to see what you come up with)!!!!!!!

Illia throughout her/the kny timeline

This is Illia’s main form and usually how I draw her! (The rest of the images will be in chronological order.) Bigger horns represent her deadlier and obsessive nature. Her shirt pattern is meant to represent clouds because of the phrase “head in the clouds.” Illia’s eye color changes as she becomes more delusional.

My idea for her was a demon that couldn’t quite differentiate reality from her hopes. This appearance is her most casual (wearing pants, hair in a simple ponytail) because she can’t quite make sense of her reflection. Illia falls in love with people based on a whim. Sometimes her lover lives if she moves on fast enough. Usually though she ends up eating them. She has affection for both humans and demons and eats both. Because of this she’s not very well liked by Muzan despite the fact that she could be powerful enough to be a lower moon one day.

Eventually Illia decides to stop eating humans. This happens after she “meets” Rengoku (they don’t actually exchange any words). At first she does a poor job but eventually after meeting Tamayo she’s able to survive off of just blood as they can.

Here she starts to drain people as a vampire would. Vampires (Wurdulac) were somewhat prominent in Russian folklore and drank the blood of their loved ones.

Her last name, Komarova, comes from the Russian word mosquito. Illia means both “The Lord is my God” (funny irony) as well as Trojan, a connection to the war. I liked the connection that could then extend to Helen of Troy as well as vengeful Gods.

Illia is original from Russia, specifically the mid 1800’s. I used court dress as inspo though I’m unsure if I’d like her to be a court member or just vague nobility. There’s not too much symbolism here tbh, that mostly comes in with her demon designs hehe.

Again not much symbolism! Here she dresses in a very western style. I wanted to done down the colors and make her more modest to fit in with Japanese society.

The kimono design took me absolute ages so say thank you!! The Boshin war breaks out at this time so Illia becomes unable to return home easily. There’s still plans for her to leave but she instead ends up joining Douma’s cult. She wears the kimono to fit in and does simpler hair styles since she has to do them herself.

Illia started out as kind of a joke character. In my first iteration of her while Douma was in the process of eating her she bit him back as a sign of her love and drank his blood. This was never meant to be realistic lol but now I’m kind of trapped because I don’t know what her new backstory is regarding that!

The demon bite on her neck is from being transformed but the fact that it remains is mostly psychological. Her horns are meant to represent the horns of jealousy from Japanese folklore.

This is Illia after becoming human again. She has an old soul of sorts. Illia can’t remember much of her time being a demon but remembers a good bit of her human life. Seeing how the world has changed makes her look and act older than she actually is.

There’s sort of two endings for her. The one I think is “canon” to me is that she lives a quiet life in Japan. She probably befriends Senjuro as well. (I’ll talk about her relationships in another post.)

As she’s a self insert though I also like to imagine her marrying Tomioka ^^ While she’s not delusional anymore she still falls in love easily and can be relentless in her chase.

YESSS like i said when i was talkin about Vector, I rly wanna properly draw all these guys sometime this year, theyve been bumping around my brain for Months now. some tidbits about the other guys:

Shark/Nasch: MISTAH TRANS MASC HE/THEY OF ALL TIME. Has a really dense Carrd covered in sea predator gifs and dA stamps. I thiiink I assigned him Pursuing a Marine Biology degree, naturally--he spends a lot of time at the aquarium wishing he worked there (he works at a country club currently. he drives golf carts to go pick up errant golf balls. his little nametag says 'Reginald'.) Does really well in his classes but is becoming. a Little Bit Burned Out trying to deal with them And work And whatever bullshit his current and ex-roommates are entangling him in. Vector stole his Ikea blahaj plush and tied it to a ceiling fan. Frequents Not-Lawrence State University's esteemed Smogon Club (usually because Yuma begs and begs for him to come,) and runs a nasty Walking Wake led Monotype team.

Rio: I NEED TO DECIDE ON HER MAJOR WAHHH Atmospheric Science would be kind of insane... invested interest in meteorology and winter events. I know she's dabbled in a bunch of campus sports and ice skates at a very skilled level, probably is banking on maybe doing that professionally if she can qualify. She's also buddies with Alexis! :3 Works at a bougie gelato place not far from the country club Shark works at so sometimes she will come bother him on her break. Has a modest interest in birding and sometimes meets up with the town Birding Group. Girag and Alito: THE BESTIES. THE ROOMIES OF ALL TIME. They actually live in the same apartment complex as Primo and Claus so they hang out and shoot the shit sometimes. Alito I feel is majoring in something like English, he's not super attached to it, what he really is banking on is a boxing career (whether or not that pans out for him remains to be seen.) He goes and spars at a local gym frequently! Girag is a history major with a focus on feudal Japan and he's also a furry. The boys' r/malelivingspaces ass apartment is a haven for the other Emperors if they dont want to be in the Nightmare House for a hot minute. Don't mind the giant knockoff red panda squishmallow taking up half their couch. Also Ponta is still there he's still a little spirit guy that Girag is nebulously aware of but Alito isn't.

Mizar: OH MIZAR..... one of my favorite zexals in the College AUverse tbh. my failwoman. Tentatively out transfem overdramatic fake blond trying out she/they pronouns for the first time. Has a big expensive gaming desktop that lights up (it looks vaguely like Tachyon Dragon lol) and uses it primarily to get into heated furry drama online and write extensive papers and lab reports for her Physics degree, usually while under some degree of white knuckle meltdown stress. She and Dumon were dating for a while but broke up and truth be told Mizar's still got a couple hangups about it. Gets into a LONG, STUPID beef with Kite over their fursona designs "being too similar" that culminates in them having a brawl on the roof of a hotel mid furry-convention. Yes they were both in fursuits. No you can't tell anyone you saw Kite in a fursuit keep you voice down shh!!!!!!! They end up having some kind of t4t qpr-ish situationship i think. not avoiding the mizakai allegations i fear HDFHSFGF

Dumon: WHO UP STUDYING THEY MEDIEVAL TEXTS. god. I love college AU Dumon. little library dyke. dweeb he/him butch kind of sort of dating clark's Paula From Earthbound and they are having In Depth discussions about a podcast they just listened to. Medieval lit major who knows more about knights than you ever will in your entire life. He was born in Utah. Organizes the finances of the Barian Rental House and takes it all dead seriously and Vector still owes like three months of back rent and he kind of wants to strangle him over it. Type of guy who spends all day at the campus coffee shop nursing the same matcha latte for five hours. Mizar is his best friend and they still hang out post-break up and they're both just kind of constantly putting up with Vector's bullshit. i mean all the Barians are but STILL.

Shark, Rio, Dumon, and Vector also all have the distinction of having known each other when they were kids, before they all moved off on their separate ways (until reconnecting in college) As you can imagine, Vector and Shark's playground wars would get. Violent. 🥴 Dumon has had a bit of a crush on Shark since they met but has absolutely never disclosed this. Because I think it is funny.

The funniest detail about them as a whole in college AU to me is theyre all transfer students from NLSU's sister-campus in Barian, Indiana. WOE! Midwestern be upon ye! And also the previously mentioned nightmare queer housing situation they live in under Don Thousand The Dogshit Landlord (or, well, at this point it's just Mizar, Dumon, and the Kastle twins living there. The situation has improved Somewhat after Vector got kicked out HHDFDF he still loves fucking with all of them though in true 🥕 fashion)

First of all, the MOON GARDEN idea is SPECTACULAR.

SPECTACULAR.

Like, it makes total sense to me, and I wish I could actually draw backgrounds and landscape becasue dear gods, I would LOVE to illustrate this lovely abode for Mathias and Dorothea.

I can absolutely imagine Mathias knowing HOW MUCH Dorothea loved to spend her days reading in her mother's own hothouse and inner garden, when she was in London, so, because Mathias is just the most considerate man to ever grace this Earth, he would take it upon himself to design and then actually build this Moon Garden for Dorothea.

He would plant lilies and white roses, night blooming jasmines and moonflowers, honeysuckles shrubs and evening primroses, all surrounded by plumeria trees and pomegranate shrubs (Colette obviously suggesting the last one lol) that would just serve as a cover for privacy for them, with small pathways that would allow them to walk around freely when not sitting together to enjoy a midnight picnic, and once done, despite his ABSOLUTE TERROR of fire, he would fill it with lantern of every kind because he KNOWS how much Dorothea loves lanterns and their glittering light.

And Dorothea would love it so much, oh dear Gods, she would be have a hard time articulate or even speak, for a minute or two (like, seriously, my girl would go absolutely gaga for a gift like this).

Mathias would definitely joke about it being the only way to charm and catch the elusive Morning Star lolol (and yes, that is a reference to one of my fave songs from Blackmore's Night lolol)

As for drawing/creating painted artwork with Mathias' scars, I had to give a good thought about it tbh.

Because Dorothea, while artistically inclined in the musical sense, is *absolutely* disastrous when it comes to figurative art, and she would be *terrified* of making Mathias uncomfortable.

She knows how sensitive he is in regards to his scars, how sometimes, as a reflex, he still covers up whenever they are intimate, and her heart breaks each time it happens, because she knows that, while he is not ashamed by her looking at him anymore, his trauma still runs so deep that it's almost a reflex. (and this, I am sad to say, will last for the rest of his life, albeit he actually got better once his children are born. Dorothea tried to guide him through that, reminding him that what appears to be strange and unorthodox to them as adults, children see it and just accept it for what it is).

And Dorothea loves and respect Mathias too much to put him in any situation in which anything connected to his scars might cause him embarassment or emotional paint.

That being said, while this is not something that I see happening IN THE BEGINNING of their relationship (like, for example, at the point in time in which my last writing is set), I do see it happening after they have been together for a few years and especially after being married, because the relationship is deeper, the bond is stronger and the mutual respect and trust is established to the point that yes, Dorothea and Mathias would be comfortable enough with Dorothea trying something like that.

And yes, Mathias would MOST DEFINITELY do the same for her (with a greater degree of success, if I do say so myself lolol sorry Dottie, you are a great violinist and singer, but a poor painter)

And knowing him, he would probably paint a portrait of her as a representation of the Night Sky, with her freckles serving as the twinkling stars that grace those clear Spanish summer nights (which doubles as heartwarming to me, because it's both an homage to her as his Morning Star, and also his safe haven, much like the Night itself is for Mathias, his refuge from the cruel light of the Sun).

hinata: he gives off breast-stroke vibes lowkey like that man can jump and sure as hell his legs can bend in that manner very fast-- he'd probably only do 100 breast and then during medly he would swim the 50 for their relay team. might also be in free every now and then to y'know compete against kageyama lmao.

adding on to this hinata would probably be very similar to how he is in the anime eating 24/7 and sleeping and slacking off tbh. seems like the guy who'd break his cap multiple times during regions or something costing the team a hefty sum. also the guy to write on his body with words like "eat my bubbles" and shit.

kageyama: its giving free sprinter. swims 50-100 free and occasionally the 200 in which he legitimately sprints the whole thing. hated being in relays with other people during his middle school club years, especially the 200 free cause its a "life or death" situation. eventually in his high school years he softened up a bit and gave tips to his relay members.

he makes sure to plan his carb intake days for meets. other people may think its funny but kageyama takes his yoga very seriously and it began to rub off on the other first years lowkey. is the victim to chicken fights on free days at practice resulting in him having to buy dinner for everyone.

tsukishima: for how long he is, he very much gives me a backstroke swimmer. the type of guy to say back is the best because you don't inhale as much water but every time you see a professional picture of him taken he's struggling to breathe. does 100 back and then back during medly.

in his earlier years of swimming he swam fly because he has a huge wingspan but later in his years he switched to back because he claimed that he didn't have enough strength for the stroke. (real)

kuroo: my boy just reeks of fly swimmer. he's crazy. he does it from the 50 medly up to the 200 fly. during meets he likes to put on fake tattoos to seem "manly" but they end up washing away in the warm-up pool and the team gets in trouble for the mess.

the captain who makes sure there is a team dinner every single week. love's dryland days because he gets to show everyone how much he can lift in the weight room. is also a menace to society and will write shit to tick off other teams.

kenma: is also a breast swimmer because lowkey he likes the different feel to it. in reality its because it was called the 'froggy' stroke when he was younger. every time he comes to practice he thinks to himself why he chose a sport where he can't breathe.

that one swimmer on the team who constantly "forgets" his suit and can't swim. (kuroo carries and extra one in case this happens). has lost too many hair ties in the pool, more than he can count tbh.

bokuto: he is a fly/free sprinter. loves the feeling of fly when he swims it. does the 50-100 for both strokes. he's really goofy and has a whole collection of speedo's with different designs that he likes to wear on specific days of the week. do not let this man near the speaker in the weight room, he will be screaming lyrics at the top of his lungs.

he probably dq's a lot of the relays from excitement and falls in the pool sometimes. on free days he likes to go beneath the depths of the water and grab peoples legs and drag them down into the water. tries to dive off the diving boards but has always ended in belly flops or just a big splash of water. is not a morning practice type of guy.

akaashi: he gives me back/distance swimmer. he's just like yeah lemme zone out for a bit and then like 4 mins later he's done and he's like oh okay cool. for back he does the medly with bokuto as back and then for distance he does the 200 and 500 free. the type of guy to let out sighs after stretching, you for sure can hear his bones cracking as well.

during meets you can see akaashi on the bench with his sony headphones on top of his cap nodding to his music. (its probably rnb). the type to bring his own equipment to practice rather than using the faculties. bokuto and him have matching pj's they wear to every single meet.

My art-style has been mutating through the years since I graduated and nowadays I’ve found a nice balance with this sketchy one I’m currently using (definitely influenced by Mikael Ross, his traditional cartoonish style is a huge inspo for me when i do comics). but I love trying new methods and switching things up every now and then. And yes, the double lineart is intentional!! I like how it gives some dimension and dynamism to the anatomy and makes it feel like animation 💞

And you are very observant!!! Bc I definitely change things in my art when I post them to different sites. part of it is because I’m kind of a perfectionist, and once i post something on twitter i start noticing all the mistakes and tangents and I just know i won’t post it on tumblr until i feel satisfied and fix things or re-do them. on the other hand, tumblr is very strict with the nudity stuff and i keep getting flagged every time i post something slightly suggestive (or maybe someone is reporting me 👀 won’t be the first time tbh) so i gotta tone things down, like adding obi-wan’s red lingerie in that one fanart while on tumblr he’s showing ass and cock HAHAHA. so yep, twitter gets ass and tits while tumblr gets the fixed 2.0 stuff. but in some way i kind of like the idea of posting different things on each site, like little easter eggs 🥰

fandoms: mostly the king’s avatar these days, though i lurk and read fic in others

two shots: i’m assuming this is a two part fic. i don’t think i’ve ever written any of those, at least not deliberately. I do have a two chapter fic but the chapter break was added specifically to integrate my big bang artist’s piece into the fic, it wasn’t originally by design.

most popular multi-chapter fic: haha well i write almost exclusively one-shots so there’s not much to choose from. 

and anyway, metrics are a finicky thing.

by kudos, Dressed for Sin (Shadowhunters) is the most popular. But that’s just because it’s the biggest fandom i’ve written multi-chapter fic in. By relative popularity within the fandom, this one would probably be pretty low on the list. But it’s one of my favorites because i got to write one of my favorite tropes: alternate first meetings.

Since it’s the end of the year i can indulge in a little navel gazing and say that my most popular fics overall were in leverage fandom, probably due to the size of the fandom at the time and writing What Fandom Wanted (ot3 with a focus on eliot, getting together fic with feelings).

If I was going to list my Most Popular (TM) fic based on my vibes for relative fandom popularity I’d probably say the de-aged ywz fic. I wouldn’t say it’s a popular fic overall, but in terms of what i’ve written, i feel like it’s the multi-chapter that’s gotten the deepest engagement. lol maybe because it’s the longest.

fic - Means of Transportation

lol that was a lot of words for someone who has written prob less than 10 multi-chapter fics but the year is ending and is there a better time to be self-indulgent?

actual worst part of writing: when i know exactly what i want but i just can’t get the words right. either because i don’t know exactly how to shape the plot or because the vibes are off or because i just can’t wrangle the dialogue or characterization. knowing what i want and being unable to get there is incredibly frustrating.

how do you choose your titles: I cry.

(okay, i actually do have a document where i keep snippets of lyrics and poetry but tbh they rarely come in handy. a lot of times i just blindly google lyrics to songs on my spotify playlists and hope for the best. my favorite is when i can snip a piece of narrative or dialogue to use as a title but oof the stars really have to align for that to work)

do you outline?: if the fic is longer than a scene or two, yes. it’s very helpful to know where the story is going. i also color code my outlines as I write (green, orange, red for written, in progress, and haven’t started writing yet) so i can get a quick view of where i am.

sometimes my outlines start as rambles and end up as real writing and then i can copy-paste that part of the outline into the actual fic and that is very satisfying.

callouts @ me: write that stupid, self-indulgent, silly idea!! it doesn’t have to be good, it doesn’t have to be a complete idea, it doesn’t have to be anything but fun. also, don’t feel bad about writing fifty thousand fics for the same pairing, you’re not here to be well-rounded, you’re here to have fun.

best writing traits: when i’m determined and in the midst of a project, i can be very good at sitting down regularly and doing 500 words of writing a day. which is wonderful for making progress. also i often get compliments about my characterization and humor in my fic, which i work very hard at.

spicy tangential opinion: i’m sure i have many of them but as usual, when i am asked to list them, they all *poof* into thin air. I have a not-so-spicy opinion that I hate 97% of epithets I come across and would like to throw “the smaller male” into the sun.

🖊PERCI

You know this guy! He's actually ended up being one of my favorite OCs that I've designed in a while ;v; Perci is a Passimian poke-human with an unsavory past, but incredibly optimistic outlook. He'll never turn down a fight and his stature and appearance might be initially intimidating, but he'd carry your groceries for you or walk you home late at night in a heartbeat.

Perci never learned how to read and this bites him in the ass from time to time, most often in the form of pit-fighting contracts that he blindly signs without being able to question the fine print....or... any of the print really.

I absolutely adore that I got to make a character drawing from some of my absolute favortite characters in media. Perci is a soup seasoned with Vash the Stampede, Zack Fair, Sanosuke Sagara, and Zagreus, and I love him. Big scary dude covered in tattoos and nasty scars but is actually rly nice (most of the time) and kind who is missing a finger and tells kids he lost it from running with scissors or not looking both ways before he crossed the street.

His friendship with Kitan (OC belonging to luc!) makes me wanna cry sometimes, i love them dearly. Unlikely but meaningful and lasting friendships always make me wanna weep. Truly just so soft for them.

I always want to design Perci more tattoos but that means I have to draw more tattoos. Perci is my "I wish I could get more tattoos" surrogate character. Who I give tattoos to because I can't afford any for myself lmao.

Drawing Perci's pecs and biceps make me happy lol. I truly just designed him to be incredibly self-indulgent and tbh, everyone should do this more often it's so fun.

I should really draw Perci more I've had a lot of little comic ideas for him floating around in my head I am just bad at actually committing them to paper.

Thalliah is one of my GW2 sylvari. When I designed her my goal was "I want her to be pink and as pretty as possible."

I mean look at her I'd say I succeeded:

She is the assistant to Cal (OC belonging to @pocketoon) and together they run the Calla Lilly Wedding Company, here for all your wedding needs! In addition to being colleagues, the two are also good friends and have a great amount of trust and respect for each other.

Thalliah is extremely up-beat, outgoing and is incredibly good with people. She is usually the point of contact for clients while Cal handles the itineraries, organization, and budgeting. She has a way with people and is good at making people happy without being a pushover. She has a keen sense for knowing when to give a little, and when to put her foot down and this diplomatic attitude has come in clutch many a time in their line of work.

After the whole Mordremoth incident their business (being entirely Sylvari owned and operated) took a huge hit and it definitely had an impact on Thalliah's outlook. She hadn't expected people to react as strongly and for as long as they did. Their business suffered and is still recovering, but things at present are definitely on an up-swing. More than anything Thalliah loves to see people happy. And what's happier than helping to join people together in the name of love?

Thalliah is an amateur seamstress and has a passion for flower arrangement. In what little free time she has she is often pursuing crafts and her hobbies. She loves fashion and often tries new looks, though her palettes rarely change. She delights in new experiences and will leap at the chance to try new foods, experience new climates and meet new people.

Thalliah, while significantly better at knowing when to take breaks and rest than Cal, still struggles with feeling aimless or useless when she is not actively doing something.

I think Thalliah sometimes struggles with self-worth. Not in a deep and profound "I'm a tiny and insignificant crumb in the universe" kind of way, but in a "I'm not useful If I can't make people happy." Kind of way. It's not something that bothers her often, but is one of those things that can flare up from time to time and lead her to push herself harder than she sometimes should.

One of my newest babes. Tori is the result of myself and my dear friend @baptizedbywitches getting back into GW Factions after a long time away.

Tori is a Necromancer from a long line of necromancers. He and his twin sister (Who belongs to @baptizedbywitches ) grew up in a very traditional Canthan household. Their family makes regular offerings and prayers to Grenth and they pass their arts down through many generations.

Tori and his sister in particular are especially gifted and are thought to have been blessed by Grenth at birth, given the complicated circumstances and tribulations during their mother's pregnancy.

While necromancy is still an art that is misunderstood by many, it was occasionally a point of contention in school when the two were younger, their whole family being seen as a bit eccentric, mysterious, and unsettling. One such contentious encounter with a classmate led to blows and Tori ended up coming home with a bruised eye dragging a kid with a similarly bruised face behind him. Tori and Zaq were nearly inseparable ever since. (Zaq belongs to @baptizedbywitches as well <3 )

Designing Tori was fun because GW1 necros are so scrugnly. Their posture is horrible. Their armor is insane. I really wanted to lean hard into the undead and tired vibe gw1 necros exude at all times. A real "Put him in a pringles can and shake him" Kind of character.

Since making regular offerings to Grenth is a very regular thing in their family, Tori often uses it as an excuse for "giving up" troublesome things like "Good Posture" and "His ability to give a shit" and "His tits"

Before we get into the actual thing, I'd like to say this post initially started as something else but ultimately, what I tried to put across is, sometimes Moon signs aren’t that easy to decipher. It’s easy to grasp overall characteristics of the signs and then learn how to identify their specific traits. But what people seem to forget it that Moon represents the deepest side of us & our inner world - it’s uncommon to really see someone’s side of it unless you really pay attention. Sometimes I’m surprised to see what someone’s Moon sign is even if I know this person well. Meaning, people usually hide that part of them - or they just simply process it internally and others can’t see their emotional reactions. It’s also uncommon for folks these days to fully express their emotional needs so it gets even trickier to pin-point their Moon characteristics. I don't think I have to mention this but, of course, your entire chart should be taken into account, as well as house placement, aspects. Personally, I like to also look at Moon's dispositor.

Let’s start from my friends, Gemini Moons, who, I feel, get a bad rep for not showing their feelings and scanning every emotion like an AI. Nah-ah. I know this one Gemini Moon whose immediate emotional reactions aren’t very cerebral in the sense of processing everything in the mind and intellectualizing it aka, what people like to label as being un-emotional. Instead her reactions are often fast (air energy) but physically expressed through Mercury (Gemini Moon’s dispositor) and Sun (overall identity) – she has them both in Aries. She’s a crybaby who can burst into tears in a matter of seconds. So she’s not something that would stereotypically be assigned to a Gemini Moon. But what I did notice is that all Gemini Moons tend to have this weird look on their face when they’re processing stuff. As if they were about to have a brain malfunction; they stop and have that specific worried look. They also like to either gossip or tell stories (either real or made up lol); they’re great with words - they can talk for hours if they feel comfortable with you. They just crave interaction and mental stimulation. Their quick reactions tend to make them effortlessly witty. Even if they’re a withdrawn Gemini type, they make up for it through social media and technology or just a quiet exploration. My shy Cancer pal with Moon in Gemini is now a brand/website designer and an instagram queen who travels the world. This is great energy for content creators in general. And don’t forget that Geminis need to have their fingers in many pies. It’s because they always have a backup plan… and they get bored easily so they need that chaos around them to feel at home. They like to have options in everything, which is kind of funny cause it’s hard for them to make up their minds and actually choose something. And they store a lot of information in their brains… I feel like it must be exhausting, no? 

On the other side of the axis, whenever I see someone with a Sagittarius Moon, I can immediately say “yup, a Sag Moon indeed” (probably thanks to my Sag stellium), meaning, they all seem the same to me. Sag Moons often find comfort in exploration - best if it’s literal travel. They always seem to need to free themselves from their surroundings, family, roots or their own culture to discover something new and exciting, even if it’s only in the imaginary words - through books, movies and other medias. Their happiness always lies somewhere else from where they currently are. Like, I think all Sagittarius Moons that I know have left their parents and went their own paths early on. And they have this yolo attitude. Just like Sagittarius Suns, they’re massive dorks, probably also obnoxious… sometimes in a REALLY annoying way. They’re either a) very wise and curious b) lil preachy and stuck up c) just plain dumb clowns with no filter. But they’re all funny. And they take things lightly, with a natural ease. This means sometimes they may offend other people just because they assume everyone’s as chill as they are; „relax! I was just kidding!” - that’s a phrase you’ll hear from them often… I mean, unless you’re a jokester yourself and you’re unmoved by their sarcastic or teasing words. They have somewhat spiritual or philosophical nature so besides making you laugh, be prepared for deep monologues. They want to believe everything will eventually fall into place. It’s also hard to bring them down - or I should say, it’s hard to make them acknowledge that they're feeling down - they always try to distract or cover it up with a joke, usually a self-depricating one. If Sagittarius Moon (or Sagittarius in general tbh) is telling you that they’re unhappy, then it’s serious.

I’ve noticed there comes a point in life for a Libra Moon where they just have enough. They’re too nice for everyone and one day they wake up and yell about how they have to do everything for everyone and everyone wants something from them and bLah bLah. Makes me think of when Bieber was this overly nice kid and then he was like “I’M NOT TAKING PICTURES WITH FANS ANYMOREEEE AAGhJFJFUWIUq”. Yup, a Libra Moon, everyone. They know how to charm and appeal to people, I think overall they’re easily liked by others. Sometimes it’s simply because they like to kiss people’s ass just to avoid being rejected. That’d be a Libra Moon’s nightmare. They like other people’s company too much. And they thrive in relationships and in a big circle of friends. What they hate is confrontations (like every other Libra placement omg). They may be good mediators when it comes to other people but if they’re involved in an argument they get sooooo passive aggressive. They just don’t know how to handle conflicts - it’s as if their nervous system wasn’t designed for emotional outbursts (because, you know, everything needs to be peaceful and harmonious Venus-style). A fussy or angry Libra Moon will suddenly get loud as they blame someone for something… and then they’ll leave the room cause they’re scared to even hear the other side of the argument. Or, alternatively, they’ll make a doormat out of themselves just to stay quiet and avoid causing any rift. And making decisions? I think it’s common for them to have two different romantic interests and feeling so dramatically torned between them *Alexa play Agony from Into the Woods*. Then when they decide, they have problems breaking the bad news to one of them.

On the other end we have Aries Moons. *deep breath* Listen, I think I’ve said enough about having Moon in Aries (or rather purely dissing it) but last time it made a bit of controversy so why not wreak even more havoc. I have a good description for this one: I will punch you but be gentle with me cause it’s easy to break my fragile heart. So basically, imagine putting Buttercup and Bubbles into one person. And honestly, I need to say this, women with this placement are just hot badasses, look at friggin Angelina Jolie. The queen of badass. The queen of hot. People say because Aries folks move quickly (literally and figuratively lol), they often get bored with whatever got them excited last week... or yesterday. Ha, yeah, right. You get their heart to open up and they’re going to have their eyes for you ONLY, like a lil puppy. Give us treats and we’ll build our world around you. But NOT in a clingy way by any means, we need our space and independence after all. My lil niece is an Aries Moon and ever since I started playing guitar with her, she became my #1 fan or something. That’s the energy. But we get easily bored with day-to-day stuff so yeah, there’s that. Innocent and clumsy yet raw in their emotions - so there’s potential to make mistakes sometimes (or a lot of times) or having this tunnel vision, like „I want this and I don’t care about anything else!”. And then excusing it with some „but the heart wants what it wants” crap (looking @ ya, Selena Gomez). They experience constant inner movement and turbulence that needs a physical outlet in order to feel satisfied. WE NEED PASSION IN OUR LIVES, OKAY?!?!?? now leave me alone

Aquarius Moons aren’t as cold as you might think. People like to describe them as if their Moons actually disappeared from their charts: dEtaCheD, uNeMotiOnaL, tHey fEeL nOtHinG. It’s just they don’t sit and dwell on things, they find solutions to the problems. If something doesn’t make them feel right, they just leave that situation. They do care about other people’s well-being, they’re very sensitive in that regard, they’re humanitarians after all. Yeah, they detach, but from their own emotions - in order to make sense of them. They may seem like snow queens sometimes (and this comes from an Aqua rising) but they’re really friendly and if you pique Aqua Moon’s interest, they’re going to be curious about you. They like new exciting things so if you’re cool enough, you have their attention. Usually they’re pretty progressive as well and can’t stand injustice. That’s why you’ll see them standing up for those who are in need. Uranian energy gives them a specific type of sharp intuition and wit. Idk they’re just cute in a quirky way. But this buzzing, fast energy is a great recipe for anxiety, over-thinking and frequent changes of heart. Similarly to Sadges, they need constant exploration and stimuli. Intelligent, people-oriented (but not people-pleasing! Look to Libras for that), individualistic. They definitely need their own space and independence. Their decision-making is fast and it’s easy for them to just say „screw it, I’m doing this”. My Aquarius Moon friend just casually decided that she’s moving to Turkey cause nothing in our city (or even country) seems interesting or helping her expand… So she was like, see ya suckers, I’m leaving.

Leo Moons shine from within. You’ll spot them from a mile away even if they’re on the shyer side. They’re all lil stars no matter their profession. Very expressive people & easily excitable. Art galleries, live shows, theater - they love a creative environment even if they don’t pursue that lifestyle themselves... One of my Leo Moon friends is an art junkie – suggest taking her to an obscure play at the local bar, a music festival, a weird museum – she’ll say yes in the blink of an eye. And she loves discussing these things. A Leo Moon may not see themselves as artistically inclined, but usually sooner or later they at least try dipping their toes in music, arts, acting, dancing... you name it. They’ll learn a simple 3-chord song on a ukulele and then play it to you in excitement. Imagine a lil kid making you a puff piece and being super proud of it. Sometimes they just need some encouragement. Remember, Leos feed off of praise, that’s their fuel. Doesn’t mean they’re all proud, egotistical people but what it does mean is that they need a lil assurance to gain their self-confidence. I lived with a Leo Sun/Moon for almost 15 years (who’s a musician btw so yeah, a classic creative Leo type) - he did have some issues lol but ego wasn’t one of them. Drama followed him everywhere but I’m pretty sure he disliked it himself. BUT, with that being said, I feel like Leo Moons tend to dramatize themselves internally. People say it’s something Virgos or Geminis would do - because of their tendency to overthink, but Leos can just go straight to a worst-case scenario in their heads simply because they exaggerate everything. So don’t be surprised to see a Leo Moon feeling down and anxious. On the bright side, be their cheerleader and they’ll give that to you in return. They need sparks and dullness kills their upbeat spirit. They need to feel their own heartbeat so the feeling of excitement is crucial for their well-being. Romantic, giving and kind. They’re fixed fire so once they’re set on something or someone, they give their all and are rather loyal.

I feel like my chart low-key tells me I should dislike Taurus Moons but I just want to melt in their arms and just stay there? Like, forever? Low maintenance but a bit slow-moving and stubborn. They won’t settle easily, at least not officially, so you need to have a lot of patience with them. They need 3 things to feel secure and at peace: physical stimuli, time and a stable place they know they can always come back to. And it’s not like all of them are total lazy homebodies, they may be active spirits & travellers but they are going to have a reallyyyyy nice cosy flat somewhere near their childhood place (gotta be be close to their moms, you know). Not necessary materialistic but they may have one thing that they collect throughout their entire life and they won’t. ever. get. rid. of. it. There needs to be at least one constant in their life - like you know when Elton John decided to go to therapy but one thing he stuck to was shopaholism? Very Taurus Moon of him. Also, they’re very affectionate. In fact, may have issues differentiating between affection and passion - this is actually something Taurus Moon and Aries Moon have in common. Pro tip - and this is in regard to all Taurus placements - don’t smell bad when you’re around them (I mean, don't smell bad in general, no one likes stinky people lol). They have a sensitive smell. Doesn’t help that they like to smell everything. EVERYTHING. I swear, Taurus, stop sticking your nose in every single thing!!! You don't need to know how that piece of utensil smells like. Jeez.

Scorpio Moon (shoutout to those who remember me accidentally calling them sporpio last time I made a post on Moons lol). I honestly don’t know what to tell you... I feel like all you hear about Scorpio Moon is 100% true, there’s nothing to debunk here. It’s the Moon of extremes. Prone to jealousy and surpressing emotions; severe trust issues; they’re instigators. I was low-key bullied by a few Scorpio Moons when I was in school so there’s that. Very secretive and private. Scorpio Moon will be like “I’m in control of the situation!!!!” and you’ll just look at them and think, yeah, right, looks like the situation is controlling you. But keep being in denial, sure. Like, don’t get me wrong, Scorpios in general can be TOTAL SWEETHEARTS OMG but ya’ll have issues. Even celebrities who have this placements... Think Beyonce or Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus... I feel like they have issues lol, especially with control and the need for everything to be perfectly the way they want it to be. To be fair, that’s probably why they’re all so influential and high status: it’s either their way or highway. They need constant reinvention; they’re the ones to wake up one day and decide they’re going through a spiritual awakening blah blah. They also like to talk about dark and shocking topics while having casual lunch with you... So like, be warned that you may end up with a depressed mood after talking to them for 10 minutes. And their mood swings... don’t even get me started on that.

I don't know where to start with Virgo Moons... I feel like they're very calculated and nit-picky but they're a lot warmer than Virgo Suns. I think I called them softies in my last Moon post. Very sweet people but prone to anxiety. You gotta experience seeing them having a heart attack over someone mixing bananas with milk or messing with their stuff that’s been put in a perfect arrangement. I saw a Virgo Moon once literally squealing shouting "YOU'RE GONNA RUIN YOUR LAPTOP WITH THAT SUPERGLUE!!!" Highly entertaining to watch, not gonna lie. Gordon Ramsay has his Moon in Virgo - it’s conjunct Uranus and Pluto so that’s an extreme but I think him being fed up with people over small inconsistencies in their food prep is a perfect example of this energy (btw his chart is hilarious, it literally explains EVERYTHING). They're VERY picky with their food as well, just as Virgo Suns tend to be. Like, they’ll only have a specific type of single origin coffee or they’ll be vegan or something. Self-critical over their work, which is a plus... except for when finishing a simple task takes them a few hours because they want to make it perfect. They take everything seriously. This of course doesn't mean they're total bores - on the contrary, Mercurial energy gives them witty approach and a talent for choosing the right words at the right time. Tho they can be a bit awkward or shy with it. Can be as bubbly as Gemini but the grounded earthy energy gives them more practical and almost nurturing nature - earth signs are providers after all and Virgo is the sign of service - helping others is like their second nature. I’ve noticed they often find comfort in devoting themselves to a choosen task - this is why if they pursue something, they’re really good at it. They’re also very likely to dissect their emotions.

I’m not a fan of water Moons in general but Pisces Moon is the best water Moon in my opinion. Maybe because I like Pisces overall. I think it’s like a tweaked Sagittarius Moon - just more internalized, withdrawn & gloomy. But unlike Sag, who has a tendency to be an adventurous optimist, Pisces likes to focus on the negatives instead. Obviously, they can be very upbeat, they’re Jupiter-ruled after all, but there’s somehing whiny about them lol. Just like Sadges, they dream big and have their standards put up sooo high but if there's not much active energy in their charts, they’re often too passive to actually fullfill any of that - or I should say, they’re stuck daydreaming about it, believing it’ll just magically manifest for them... OR they do everything with an apathetic approach. What I do like about them is that they’re funny. And really chill - sometimes to the point of coming off as confused or hazy. I feel like a lot of them would just love to sleep all day... or sit by the lake and just think about the world. Most of them are also compassionate folks - again, maybe a bit too much. Hey Pisces, you don’t have to take everything to heart, it’s okay. On the bright side, they have big imagination and the ability to disconnect and just create. I have a few Pisces Moons in the family: one’s that sleepy artistic type with grand visions, one is an asshole-ish but funny entrepreneur with a questionable work ethic and one is a witty IT guy who’s actually a workaholic and likes to shut in his own world of computers and numbers or whatever he does there... So there’s this factor of tunnel vision, escapism and, on the more negative side, being kinda iffy and almost addicted to the way they want things to be. Once they set their eyes on something it’s done deal…

My issue with Capricorn Moons is that they're often trying to be sooooo mature omg, like, loosen up a bit. It usually starts when they're in their later teens... They can be the most rebellious kid that likes to have fun and suddenly they'll be like "I'm too old for this ugh grow up" *judgmental stare*. My 18-year old niece once literally roasted my sister that she's in her 30s and still doesn't have her own place (well so do I so I guess she also indirectly roasted me as well???). And she was SO deadpan with it. Because she herself wants to be independent and start a family before turning 25. This is classic Capricorn Moon energy. They suck out joy out of everything lol. Of course, OF COURSE, it depends on the whole chart but I feel like worst-case scenario is that at one point in their life (or maybe even a few times throughout it) they go through a massive shake-up that makes them change their attitude and re-evaluate their structures. There's this multi-instrumentalist Yvette Young - she's a sweet, funny Cancer/Leo mix but her Moon is in Capricorn. She used to be a competitive pianist but the pressure that was put on her has led her to severe health issues. Like yes, she’s now an extremely talented musician - thanks to family’s expectations & a rigid schooling system (Saturn) but it did cost her a lot. She has recovered since then but I think it's a perfect example of this energy. It’s very ambitious and hardworking but emotionally demanding in the sense that you have to actually put your emotions aside in order to deal with the rest. Another thing, because Moon can be associated with family, there's often a weird dynamic surrounding this topic. I don't think I've met a Capricorn Moon that had a completely healthy and happy relationship with their fam or one of the family members. Or, alternatively, there can be a strong bond between one of them but usually created in the atmosphere of hardships.

Last but not least, Cancer Moons. I had three school friends with this placement and all of them made this sad, whiny face as they said „oh I don’t knoooow anymoreee”  when they were feeling torned or frustrated. To be fair, two of them are water Suns so for them, it added to the mushyness. All Cancer Moons I know are family people or better yet, baby people. One of those school friends is now a guidance counsellor, working with kids; the other turned her instagram into a gallery of her own child after she gave birth. So much kid content, omg. There’s also something very indecisive about them… or I should say, hesitant. They’re not very fast at making decisions. Also, what’s interesting, they’re kind of like walking libraries, they remember a lot – so they store a lot of information in their brains just like air signs but they process it in a completely different way – emotional, obviously. I think this also makes them hold grudges a lot. For them it’s more of a question of „how does it make me feel?” rather than „how valid is it?”. There’s certain stubborness in them in that regard because they don’t keep their minds open. It’s also hard for them to walk away from people and situations, like a crab pinching you with its claws – it won’t let go. Sensitive but not easy to open up; very protective of themselves and their loved ones & they tend to shut down in their crab shells. But they may crave connection and the feeling of belonging. Also very caring and with a big imagination. They’re very receptive of their environment so mood swings are a thing for them.

Favorite: his character design! ik not everyone likes it, but i like that it's a bit more plain. usually mc's have insane multicolor designs and he's just... green with freckles. it's less ridiculous and i like it. Least Favorite: his personality isn't my fav. i don't find him compelling, just kinda annoying at times. cute, but sometimes a little much. i usually end up wanting to watch others, not just him. i usually skip the first few episodes when rewatching cause he isn't the most entertaining (and I'm not a huge all might fan) Pet peeves: people forgettin how strong he is. Don't get me wrong, this man is timid when it comes to friends (i mean, look at his reaction to Toga wanting to date him) but he's going head to head with Shigaraki and doing just fine. he'll deck bitches.

Bakugou

Favorite: HIS NAME!!!! I'll say this for the rest of time, Katsuki Bakugou is a perfect name. Let me break it down, if you don't know. To really simplify it, 'Katsuki' can mean win. 'Bakugou', contains the kanji for 'explosion'. now, Win Explosion on it's on is pretty good, but when you take the kanji for Masaru Bakugou's name (爆豪勝) and Mitsuki Bakugou's name (爆豪光己) you get Katsuki! (爆豪勝己) That's probably less exciting to you but i love it. Least Favorite: in all honesty? as a writer, i love bakugou. he fits within the mha world perfectly. everything matches and it's all world appropriate. i dont like how long the character development took him, but that's about it. Pet peeves: guys, early bakugou is an asshole. he doesn't like deku or todoroki. he's the worst. he is not adorable tsun who secretly loves deku <3 like... there's necessary development. some fics have development for him, which works. but some just... assume he's secretly really nice....... no

Hawks

Favorite: huge fan of his character type! the relaxed, young, but somehow v serious and traumatized characters are great, especially when they draw parallels to each other <3 also his character design is awesome. Least Favorite: tbh, my only real gripes are with how he's interacting with villains, but honestly i dont think i can make any statements until after we know wassup w dabi. Pet peeves: making him owo bird baby who would never hurt a soul. he'll murder a bitch and give a child a hug. he can do both.

Kaminari

Favorite: Electricity user with consequences and genuine growth. Name another electricity user that has an actual downside to their power? leaves so much room for growth and we've seen it throughout the series. Least Favorite: not about him, but his relationships. im still waiting for him to be like "hey can you stop saying im stupid it's hurtful". like... that's some perfectly set up angst right there and also everyone just gets to insult him?? tf??? Pet peeves: not acknowledging his capabilities. he's not the brightest, but he's shown he's heroic, moral, and powerful. people underestimate my boy.

Hi! I've always wanted to start book binding my favorite fics, but it seems like a really daunting task. I was wondering what programs you use? And how you do your type setting? And about how long does it take you to do one book? I've tried finding easy to follow tutorials (mainly for the type setting tbh, I've never done anything like that before), but haven't found any that I like. Thanks you! 😊

Hi! Binding fanfic can be very daunting! It took me forever to figure out how to print it in booklet form and I wouldn’t have been able to do it if my brother hadn’t been helping me. But once you figure it out, it’s actually pretty simple. I'm not sure how long it actually took me to make my books from start to finish. A couple of months? It's certainly not something you just bang out in a day.

This gets pretty long, so everything is beneath the cut. (Click the images to see them better.)

For my two books I used Microsoft Word. However, I’m excited about trying Affinity Publisher for the next project. It has a free month trial with apparently lots of youtube tutorials, but because I haven’t tried it yet, I’ll just focus on Word.

Note: This is what I did. I know @renegadepublishing has a very in-depth guide on typesetting. You could probably ask them for it or it may be on their discord. I had already started on my typeset by the time I’d heard about their guide, so I didn’t follow it, but it’s another option for you.

Margins

I already owned a book interior template back when I was self publishing, so I just copied the margins that were in it. I bet you can fiddle with this and find the margins you like best.

Go to Page Setup and click the small arrow to open the dialog box. From there change your margins, choose landscape, choose bookfold, and choose the number of sheets per booklet. For both of my books I did 16.

Next you’re going to click on the Paper tab and tell it what sized paper you’ll be printing on. I did letter (11 in by 8.5 in).

Next click on the Layout tab and tell it to start the section on Odd Page and check the boxes for different odd and even pages and different first page and fill out header and footer margins.

The Typeset

Under Page Layout, you’re going to click on Breaks.

There will be a drop down menu and select Odd Page. This is your half title page or full title page, depending on what you want to do. I recommend grabbing a random book off your shelf and looking at how they did the front matter. How many title pages did they put in? Where are they located? On an odd page or an even page?

Let’s say you want to do two title pages. Both should be on Odd Pages. There is no need to insert an Even Page break between them because the computer will know there is an Even Page between two Odd Pages, but you can insert a blank Even Page between them if it helps keeps things clear for you.

Continue to insert the appropriate Odd or Even Page breaks. For example, if you want to add a copyright page or an Other Things the Writer’s Written page. This is all up to you. You don’t have to put in any of that stuff. Just be sure that you’re giving these pages a designated break.

Now you’re ready to do Chapter One!

Make another Odd Page break and copy and paste the first chapter into the document. I know that sometimes copying and pasting from AO3 can be tricky, but I’ve only had two chapters where the italics didn’t transfer and I had to manually insert them, so I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. Just keep an eye out for any formatting issues.

When it comes to formatting, have fun! Play around with different body fonts and chapter fonts. Add a Drop Cap if you want. To make things easy and consistent, use the Styles. You can modify them however which way you want, but be sure to choose justify. It’s also important to make Hyphenation automatic.

Now it’s time to make some headers and footers. You should have a bunch of text in chapter one. Pick a page and double click the header. The first page of the chapter will say it’s the first page header and then it will be Even and Odds. For the Evens I typed in my name. For the Odds I put in the book title. I’m actually having a hard time remembering how I did the page numbers, but I think I just clicked on the Page Number box and chose one I liked. For the headers and footers, you can alter the font and size. You can make them bold or italicized.

All the odd headers should be the same and all the even headers should be the same with the chapter title page not having a header or footer. (I think there might be a way of keeping the page number on the chapter page but I don’t know how.)

Now you’re ready to do Chapter Two!

Check the last page in the document and insert the appropriate page break, be it Odd or Even. This is important because it’s telling the program that you’re starting a new section and therefore there won’t be a header or footer on that page. The headers and footers will essentially skip over it and continue with the rest of the pages when you copy and paste the text in.

You’re going to keep repeating these steps until you get to the end of the book, always inserting the appropriate page break at the start of a new chapter. You should also do this if you want to add quotes or if the book has multiple parts and you want to make a page that showcases that without the headers or page number cluttering it up.

When you get to the end it’s a good idea to add two more blank pages. Congratulations! You did it!

When it’s time to print, make sure you tell it to print on the Short Edge. Double check that it’s on landscape, that the right sized paper is selected and that it’s printing double sided.

Remember when I said 16 pages to make a booklet? You don’t have to do 16. There are a lot of different options, but what this means is that the printer will print these sections so that when they are folded, the page numbers will match up. It’s super confusing to explain and I’m probably not doing a good job, but if you grab the first four pages out of the printer, and fold them into a packet, the title page will be on the front page and page sixteen will be the last page. It will continue to print this way with four sheets of paper needing to be folded into a booklet.

It's also important that if you're going to insert clipart, you'll need to tell word not to compress the images. This drove me crazy for a long time. Go to file, click options, click advanced and scroll down to where it talks about images.
