yeah hi so I would like to say that in my opinion the perfect ending for Skybound wouldn't be Jay and Nya kissing. It wouldn't be them getting married 50 fan seasons later. It wouldn't be the time reversal or the lack of time reversal.

You guys are SLEEPING on the ideal version for Skybound and that is the ninja firing Dareth, and Nya standing up for herself. Literally. Nya walks up to him and it's just a badass "YOU KNOW WHAT HOW ABOUT NO" and launches into a rant about all the ways he's being unfair/mistreating the ninja (and Nya!!) and then after that they all just fire him on the spot, then they get a super kind and supportive new agent who is so much better than Dareth. Bonus points if they also hook them up with a therapist.

Bang Chan is annoying.

Well.. no, that's not entirely true.

He's sweet, and kind, and caring, and always make sure you're eating well, drinking enough water, not working too hard without taking breaks. He often messages you over the weekend or on your days off to see how your studies are going, asking if you're taking breaks.

He brings you little things; chocolate he knows you like or your favourite drink, passing them to you with a nonchalant smile, going about his day.

But you're not used to people wanting to take care of you, much less without asking for something in return. You keep waiting for the ball to drop, for him to ask something of you, expect something, think he's entitled to something. But it never happens.

It's been months, and Chan never asks a thing of you. Simply asks how you are, and moves on.

It's gone from little, friendly moments of caring, to moments full of lingering touches and glances that last too long, both of you wanting to say more, but never taking the leap.

That's how you end up here, sitting with him outside the cafe, watching the sunset after you've both finished for the day.

You're trying to work up the courage to ask him for something. For help.

"Chan," he can see the hesitation on your face, and he wants to tell you that you can ask him anything, but he stays quiet, waiting for you to work through your thoughts. "I need your help."

"What do you need?" His Aussie accent is thicker than normal, but you don't think much of it, too in your head to process it.

"I- My sink, it's- tap-" you sigh, head falling to your hands. "Fuck-"

"Your sink is broken and you need help to fix it?" Of course he knows. Translates the mess in your brain to actual words and verbalises it. Nodding, he smiles and takes you hand in his, telling you to lead the way.

You fall into a pattern then, coming to him when you need help doing something that you can't fix yourself, knowing he'll be there to do it for you.

"She wants you to what?" He's frowning, arms crossed over his chest, and you can't help but let your eyes wander over his muscles.

"Plan her party." You shrug, like it's no big deal, but Chan's not having it.

"No." His voice is stern and you frown at him. He sighs.

"Look, I can't tell you what to do, but she's a bitch and has never and will never do anything nice for you." He moves closer, hands unfolding and resting at his sides. "You could be on fire, and she wouldn't attempt to put it out."

"And who would?!" You know you shouldn't be so annoyed, but the way he ordered you not to, and the way your body reacted to his command are freaking you out. He frowns again, leaning down to your height.

"I would." He presses his forehead to yours. "I would, and you know it."

You nod, hands reaching for his and he immediately takes you into his arms.

"Chan-" He nudges his nose against yours.

"Tell me if you want this to stop, if you don't want this."

"I want this." You whisper. "I want you."

His eyes close, and he leans into press a gentle kiss to your lips, hands grazing your sides. You lean into him, pulling him close and sink into his hold.

Too quickly for your liking, he pulls away, but keep his arms around you.

"Let me take you on a date?" Nodding, you lean into him again, but he pulls back even further, stepping out of reach. "Go get changed. I'll pick you up at 7."

Chan leaves you standing in shock, body buzzing from his touch and mind running with new information, you rush to get ready, hands shaking from excitement.

He spends the whole date with his hand on your back, gently guiding you to the car, helping you in and out, guiding you through the restaurant.

He guides you back to his car, hand on your back, and your body relaxes into his touch, lets him move you as he pleases, and your mind wanders to all the ways he could move you and mold you to his liking.

"Wanna come in?" It's a bold question, but you mean it, in whatever way he wants it.

"You sure?" You know what he's really asking.

both are calculated, both are impulsive. Kai can plan and strategize in the throes of battle, while Zane's only moves in a pinch are Bullshit and Sacrifice. Zane can be overly curious, but he's on guard for manipulators and moles- Kai wants to believe people who are kind to him and it can blind him to other, more practical ulterior motives

at first glimpse, Zane seems hard to get along with and Kai extroverted, but the former's sincerity is clear while the latter obfuscates with sarcasm. even further down, we see Zane repress his trauma and feelings while Kai has outbursts of rage. they contain contradictions within contradictions of their elements

Kai uses his powers to smith, to create new tools and weapons. we hadn't seen the destruction Zane was capable of until the Never Realm, where permanent winters the world and nearly destroys a civilization (yes he's being manipulated and has the forbidden scroll in his hand I know). Skylor uses Kai's fire to forge a friendship and connect with him. Zane uses his heart and elemental power to destroy (mostly) the overlord.

typically, fire is the element of destruction, but I want you instead think of Kai and summer. gatherings and parties and adventures. warm waters and flourishing crops. everyone may be irritable, sweaty, and some sunburned, but it is built on the freedom to choose.

during winter people are together and inside out of necessity. it pulls people closer out of practicality and proximity. among the sparse bushes and trees, the wind chill and ice, are the adversity through which we persevere through. bonded together through change, through experience.

these connections are both one in the same and inherently different. their beginnings may be opposite, but the ending is often the same.

So I’m working on something…

It’s a rewrite of Quest For The Lost Powers, but not really a rewrite because I’m not changing anything. It’s more of an expansion and adding more emotions and depth (or trying to anyway).

Here’s a snippet of the first chapter

Kai took another slurp of his noodles as he watched the screen with disinterest. Currently a commercial for Laughy’s Karaoke Club was playing. He was pretty sure the only reason that place was still in business was due to its popularity amongst gangs and smaller criminals. How had Dareth managed to attract those people to his bar? Kai pondered this as he twirled a strand of noodles around his chopsticks though he soon forgot about it when Skylor returned from the kitchen. She leaned against the counter an exasperated look on her face. “What is it you wanted to show me?”

“Look how many noodles I can slurp down all at once,” Kai said gaining the attention of some of the other restaurant’s patrons. Skylor rolled her eyes, this was getting old. She loved Kai and she loved that he would come and see her at the restaurant every night but ever since losing his Elemental Powers he had become so…depressing. No that wasn’t quite the word she was looking for. Skylor sighed inwardly, her affection for Kai mingling with a sense of frustration. She wished he could see himself the way she saw him—brave, resilient, and so much more than his elemental powers. But since their defeat of the Overlord, he seemed adrift, as if his identity had been tied too tightly to his fire. She had hoped their relationship would help him find new purpose, but lately, even that seemed to falter.

“It looks like the same amount of noodles you slurped five minutes ago, Kai,” Skylor said as she brushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “Don’t you have anything bet...errr...I mean, something more important to do?”

Kai looked up at his girlfriend before whipping his mouth with his sleeve. “In case you forgot I don’t have my fire powers anymore. There’s nothing important for me to do anymore.” Above them, the TV was broadcasting a report from NGTV News. Gayle Gossip appeared on the screen, standing on a busy Ninjago City street. In the distance, police sirens wailed.

“The crime rate in Ninjago City has been steadily rising ever since rumors have begun circulating about the ninja losing their Elemental Powers. There have been multiple attempts at contacting them but they never respond. Powers or not, ninja, Ninjago City needs you!” Skylor looked at Kai in surprise. No way they had been ignoring all those calls!

“Are you kidding, you haven’t returned her calls?” Kai shrugged. “I haven't charged my phone in days,” he said. “And besides what's the point? Without my Fire powers, I’ve lost my spark.” Staring into his bowl Kai watched the broth swirl around the noodles and vegetables. Truthfully he felt bad for not helping stop the crimes, he was a ninja trained to protect and defend the innocent, but without his powers he felt useless.

That's not true,” Skylor insisted. “You still know Spinjitzu. You’re still as smart as you ever were, and brave. You can still do good in the world.”

“Ninjago City has an excellent police force,” Kai replied. “They don't need me getting in their way.”

“What about that time you got your powers back while in the Never-Realm? What did you do then,” Skylor asked hoping to help him.

Kai sighed burying his chin in his folded arms. “Look Sky I appreciate you trying to help but I’ve tried everything, nothing worked.” He buried his face deeper into his arms hiding the tears that had started to pool in the corner of his eyes.

“Hey Skylor, the potstickers are less than puffy again,” a voice from the kitchen called out interrupting the conversation. Skylor placed a hand on Kai’s arm fighting back the urge to beat some sense into him. “This conversation is not over.”

(("Hey hey hey-" His boots slid against the smooth concrete as he was pushed. "This isn't where I would like to be going!"

'The bearer of the star must help this one understand.' the dragon suggested, nudging him with ease. 'this one is of fire. The bearer of the star shalt know this.'

"If it wasn't obvious enough.." Dareth mumbled warily, glancing back at the beasts red scales and reddish ridge. Worst part was that no one else around seemed to bat an eye at the predicament, but he supposed that after all of the times everything was turned around in this city, seeing a dragon was nothing out of the norm. "You can call me Dareth, if you want to." Just where was this dragon pushing him towards?

'Dareth....' he twitched an ear, the name ringing some familiarity. 'speaker of animals, hoarder of trophies...'

"Well I *am* grand, those trophies just help reinforce that."

The dragon hummed through its thoughts, 'borrower of cars, the fire knows this well... this one has known the bearer of the star for quite some time.'

"H-huh??"

Dareth as Lloyd’s uncle though. Since he’s supposed to also be an exiled iron dragon clan member. The brain cells all went to Misako.

Uncle Dareth is the whole reason why I went with him also being part of Clan IronDragon!

Well, it started out as me needing a babysitter for Lloyd. Since he gets to actually have a childhood, he gets stuck on the sidelines a bit. So I needed a character who would be trusted by Lloyd's family, but who wasn't someone who might be crucial out in whatever conflict is going on, like Mystake would be.

Dareth was the first person to come to mind, but the way he befriended the Ninja in cannon wouldn't work in VT. Even if anyone wanted to start training Lloyd, the VT Ninja have been living in that penthouse from early S2 for awhile, and thanks to their brand deals they aren't going to be hurting for rent money any time soon. So needing Dareths dojo is out.

My next thought was to do something like with Ed and Edna, but unlike them Dareth lives in the city and would definitely recognize Garm and Nya as the infamous Lord Garmadon and his daughter (who the media have started calling 'Tempest' bc her name and the fact she's the Green Ninja's thought to be dead sister isn't well known), and wouldn't be inclined to help them.

Then I thought, what if he befriended Misako when Lloyd was a kid and ended up being a sort of uncle figure? But Misako was incredibly careful and pretty paranoid about keeping herself and Lloyd safe, especially in the first few years. Him being nice to her during one meeting wouldn't justify her trusting him at all.

Unless she had more than just the one meeting to know Dareth means no harm.

Which is when I got the IronDragon idea!

I've expanded on the IronDragon Technique and what the Clan can use, more on that in a later post I'm working on, but Dareth also has his own IronDragon tattoos!

They're different than Misako's, which I've also tweaked a bit, but they're still extensive and sapient. Dareths are small, not sapient, and are ones that give abilities or enhance some things he can do.

But anyway, Dareth ends up being a part of Lloyd's life when Lloyd's about 3 or 4, when he helps Misako escape from a mercenary Wu sent after her.

He leads the mercenary on a wild goose chase, pointing him up a fire escape instead of behind the dumpster where Misako was actually hiding with Lloyd, and then he offers Misako help.

She's wary of trusting an IronDragon, since she doesn't want her parents to get involved with any part of her or Lloyd's lives, but between the trembling toddler in her arms and the stab wound in her leg, she doesn't have many other options.

I haven't decided on how closely related Dareth and Misako are, or how well they knew each other before either left the Clan, but they do become close and refer to each other as cousins.

And Dareth quickly gains the title of Uncle from Lloyd.

Seasons

I’ve reworked some things recently, and I wanted to give an outline of my rewrite, at least from the pilot season to Crystalized.

1 - Masters of Spinjitzu

The pilot season.  Major changes:  Honestly not much of anything.  The plot and character interactions remain largely the same.

2 - Rise of the Snakes

Season 1 in the normal count.  Major changes: Also not all that different from the source material.  

3 - Legacy of the Green Ninja

Season 2 in the normal count.  Major changes: The introduction of my first oc about halfway through the season; Koko Montgomery, younger sister of Misako and Lloyd’s aunt.  Other than that I don’t think much is really altered.

4 - Rebooted

Season 3 in the normal count.  Major changes: Largely goes as the original did, though Koko gets involved in the plot towards the end.

5 - Tournament of Elements

Season 4 in the normal count.  Major changes: Not only is Koko present, but also the introduction of yet another oc; Viridian Kagami, scion of the renowned Kagami clan of Domu and entered in the Tournament as the Master of Glass.

6 - Possession

Season 5 in the normal count.  Major changes: Once again Koko is involved [though later in the season], but also introducing; Cerulea, or just Lea, adoptive younger sister of Ronin.  

7 - Skybound

Season 6 in the normal count.  Major changes: No idea, I haven’t rewatched the season for notes quite yet.  

8 - Escape from Tera Uragiri

The first fan season.  Focuses on Ronin and explains how the Jade Emperor and Empress had the Oni Mask of Deception at the beginning of Sons of Garmadon.  Based rather heavily on the Escape from New York and Escape From LA movies.

9 - Echoes of Memory

Another fan season, though it’s more of a miniseries.  Details how Echo Zane is retrieved from the lighthouse and actually becomes part of the Ninjas’ little family.

10 - Day of the Departed

The holiday special.  Major changes: Li’l Nelson will be involved like the showrunners originally had scripted, and also Morro will have a more active role in saving Cole.

11 - Hands of Time

Season 7 in the normal count.  Major changes: A few additional episodes focusing on Ronin and Dareth post-Ronin’s broken leg.  They’ll be interacting with a third character that I’m not naming because I want it to be a surprise.

12 - Decoded

Uh, sorta a miniseries in the normal count? [is this even canon?]  Major changes: Echo’s involved this time I guess, and it’s less of just recapping the show for Sons of Garmadon.

13 - Obsession

The third fan season.  Kai learns he has a stalker, but unlike crazed fans Kai has dealt with before, this one wants to destroy the element of fire and its master.  [Also yes I totally ripped the concept for this from The Flame That Burns Too Brightly]

14 - Sons of Garmadon

Season 8 in the normal count.  Major changes: Changes to the lore of Oni and Dragons, namely that there’s more than 3 Oni masks.  Also Echo being involved.

15 - Hunted

Season 9 in the normal count.  Major changes: On the Ninjago side of the plotline, some ocs become part of Lloyd’s resistance [mostly Lea and Koko], and he gets help from an unlikely ally.

16 - March of the Oni

Season 10 in the normal count.  Major changes: Additional member of the Ninja team.  Also Echo’s involved.

17 - Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu: The Fire Chapter

Season 11, part 1, in the normal count.  Major changes: Aforementioned additional Ninja and Echo being involved.

18 - Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu: The Ice Chapter

Season 11, part 2, in the normal count.  Major changes: Additional Ninja and Echo.  

19 - Prime Empire

Season 12 in the normal count.  Major changes: Addition of the additional Ninja and Echo; also Jay’s mom shows up and we get a new oc in the form of his sister, Ivy Gordon.

20 - Master of the Mountain

Season 13 in the normal count.  Major changes: The additional Ninja.

21 - Malediction

The fourth fan season.  Focuses on the additional Ninja I keep mentioning.  Also has to do with Lea, and finally has Clouse being dealt with after he escaped the Cursed Realm all the way back in Skybound.

22 - The Island

Either season 14 or a miniseries in the normal count.  Major changes: Ronin isn’t actually the criminal behind the shenanigans, and it turns out to be the Mechanic.  I made this choice because the way I characterize Ronin, and with the [extensive] backstory I gave him he would not do what he does in the Island.  Also, has Lea officially join the Ninja.

23 - Throne of Glass

The fifth fan season.  Focuses on Lea, and explains who becomes the new Jade Emperor and Empress after Harumi nuked them in Sons of Garmadon.  Also introduces the concept of Dragon Amulets, which counter each of the Oni Masks.

24 - Seabound

Either season 14 or season 15 in the normal count, depending on how you count The Island.  Major changes: Additional Ninja [including Lea], Echo’s involved, Ronin’s involved in trying to help Nya figure out what’s up with her powers, and Nya is not the only character to merge with their element by the end.  

25 - Crystalized, Part I

Season 15-16 in the normal count, again dependent on The Island.  Major changes: Additional Ninja, Echo’s involved, and Nya is not the only one getting their powers taken away so they’re no longer merged with their element.  Also there’s a tiger now.

26 - Crystalized, Part II

Season 15-16 in the normal count, dependent on The Island.  Major changes: Complete overhaul of Garmadon’s characterization and his subplot with Lloyd.  It just didn’t seem true to his character to me.  Also additional Ninja and Echo.

So Alecto, appeased with the ragged breath coaxed out of John, turned to the fire child next - except the child who accepted the blade was knelt between it and the fire child. The child was silent, but looked at John, and through Alecto, and Alecto said, How dareth thee?

Then the child stood with eyes turned to the metal below them, and answered, Please, she didn't doth aught, and answered, Please, doth not taketh her from me, and answered, Not thee too.

John shifted behind Alecto, but the iron blade did not budge. John looked up to the heavens, and Alecto followed, angered by the sight of itself in the reflection of the edge that cut. Alecto said, This is not what I did want.

The child said, Alloweth us help.

Alecto said, This hath happened because I alloweth him help, and, Remember Samael.

The child with the wet face looked upon her with a resignation too familiar, and the fire child moved to Alecto, and said, I am Samael.

Alecto was angry, and it had only it's fists, and used them to force the fire child out of sight, and the other child wept. The child said, Maketh not me doth this. And Alecto said, Shall thee betray me? And the child said, Thee did betray me first.

And the child's lifted hands raised dead from dust, and Alecto stood and let itself be overrun. Then Alecto grabbed, and grabbed, and grabbed, and broke, and chewed, and swallowed. The fire child stepped back, and Alecto recognized itself in the eyes, and it ate, and ate, and ate, and it felt faint and full.

From far away, Alecto watched, as the child with the wet face tried yet found no more dust, as all was now within it. And the child looked at John, and the child looked at the dull fire, and Alecto saw Samael at last.

The fire child said, What art thee doing? And the other child said, T'is all gone. And the fire child looked at John, and John smiled, and Alecto almost came back - except the fire child turned and knelt in front of the child with the wet face, and said, Thee has't me.

The child's hands shook and approached the dull fire fallen at her feet, and the child said, I doth not deserve thee.

And the fire child said, And yet thee has't me, and said, Rid me of his trophy, and said, Allowest us beest his end, and alloweth me beest yours, and alloweth thee beest mineth.

The child's hands steadied at the base of the dull fire, warmly simmering, and the eyes Alecto shared met with the eyes Anastasia shared, and it was just. The fire child trembled, and the other child withdrew, and the fire child said, T'is not thee yond has't effected me.

The child's face scrunched, yet she moved with dedication, and from the claim placed by John on the fire child sprang forth more children to bear their burden. John was half asleep, but stirred through shock and fury, and Alecto laughed, and laughed, and cried, and was pleased.

The fire child did not rise, not for a long time, and from John blossomed a force none could see but all would sense, and Alecto felt it call, and knew it had to follow, but looked at Samael one last time. Samael looked back, and it burned, and it was just.

I have this scene in my head where post-nona griddlehark fighting together and Harrow's out of bones on some reasons, so she starts cracking her fingers

but Gideon just says 'take this' pointing on the bone wreath on her head

so Harrow takes it out while briefly brushing Gideon's hair and Gideon's neck

and Gideon's like that did zero effect on me

Chapter 7 Transformation

Hearing that caused instant worry making everyone leave behind Harumi to follow Dareth taking them to Lloyd. He was heavily breathing with the addition of some pained groans upon placing a hand on his forehead it was burning up “This does not appear to be an ordinary fever.” Zane scanned him but could find no trace of a sickness in him but nobody wanted to come to the conclusion that started becoming clear. “Has Lloyd always have a birthmark on his hand?” Dareth asked pointed at a black patch of skin on the back of his hand that slowly got bigger in size and now no one can deny it anymore, the incantation was taking affect. A sharp pain shocked his body that it forced Lloyd awake letting out a scream in pain and started fidgeting to free himself of the restraints “There has to be a cure, something to stop or reverse this.” Misako looked over at Garmadon who was still trying to take in what was happening “I’m not sure, not many have attempted transformation.” He was trying to think of something and quick “I think I have an idea for a cure but it’s an outdated method that might not work.”

Lloyd looked down at the now black clawed hand using all his strength to break it quickly rushing to free his other hand “Hey!” Ronin ran to slam his wrists back onto the table ignoring his pained noises and everyone followed pursuit to keep him down but he was becoming stronger than them as the restraints on his ankles snapped before the others held onto there, they needed him still for Garmadon to do his work “He’s- getting harder to- hold back.” Morro huffed struggling to hold him down as the pain got worse for Lloyd arching his back in pain and was moving around a lot more aggressively until he shoved them away from him taking the chance to run out but not far as with the growing pain he fell and it was getting harder to breathe normally. The others ran out to get him “It’s getting worse!” Jay noticed something protruding on the green ninja’s head, Lloyd felt it making him scream louder once realizing it was horns he threw his head back hitting the unfortunate person behind him being Cole causing him to let go of his grip to put his hands on his head as some blood spilled out from the injury.

Harumi could hear all the yelling and screaming coming from outside needless to say she was confused on what was happening outside but took the opportunity to escape by moving around until the rope was loose enough from there she escaped through the back taking a quick peak at the scene seeing everyone on top of Lloyd as he kept trying to get them off him but the pain he was feeling made it hard after watching some of it she ran off. “I need to get away from them.” Lloyd thought to himself “If I stay any longer they might keep me imprisoned until they actually find a cure.” He tried making an energy ball and thankfully luck was on his side creating one to blast them off then ran off as fast as he could the other ninjas tried to go after him but the blast was strong that it weakened them. “It’s a quick change the book said. You’ll barley feel a thing it said. What a fucking lie.” Lloyd muttered to himself while running before stopping once he believed he got far enough he looked down at his hands then reached up to touch his horns it wasn’t long until another surge of pain arrived causing him to double over because of it, he opened his gi seeing the black patches grow faster than earlier then wrapped his arms around himself tears forming from how bad it was and he released one final loud pained scream before collapsing but not unconscious.

Lloyd laid there panting hoping that it was finally over “My body feels like it’s on fire not to mention it hurts to move too much.” He said in his mind then slowly sat up and checked himself over definitely noticing the new set of arms on him then the noise of bushes startled him Lloyd tried to get up but was still aching from the transformation and out came Harumi. “What do you want?” He hissed at her as she looked him over “You know. I’ve been too rough on you since this whole dilemma started and now seems like the perfect opportunity to fix that.” She smiled, Lloyd didn’t trust this raising a brow in suspicion and crossing his arms “Look. Since your father has gave up the throne it’s up for grabs and well your the only one left to take it. I can help you achieve whatever you want.” That peaked his interest. Lloyd got up and approached Harumi placing his hands on her shoulders looking at her dead in the eyes “What are we waiting for? The ninja will soon be on my trail. Take me to my throne.”

Ray and Maya doing mail delivery nearing the end of the war. Just passing out letters to towns that's saying 'hey wars is over ! expect people to come home soon!'

They get jumped and tied up to a tree. Ray is about to retaliate and shoot fire from his mouth but the captor shoves a loaf of bread in his mouth.

Said captor starts rummaging through their letters and Maya snaps at him that he's doing a crime and that Chen is gone and stuff- The guy doesn't care about that he's very much so was not on any side of the war. He mind is elsewhere as evident by his rambling through his face covering about how excited he is to be a dad, catching them both by surprise. 'So I need some advice on baby names. How does Junior sound? I think it'll work great! Ugh but Mary, she's real tough to budge you know? She wants to name our Kid 'Dareth', what kind of name is that? I mean, that's the name you give someone who's gonna be launched outta cannons for a living!.. Actually, that sounds pretty cool...' And while he's rambling he's delicately unsealing letters and reading them, resealing them perfectly and putting them back.

Ray can't say anything, he has bread in his mouth, but he and Maya exchange looks of utter speechlessness.

'Say you two think its okay if I set up camp here for tonight? Seeing that you're already having some of my meal. Either of you allergic to plums and fish?'

Maya keeps asking him questions and he keeps giving half-nothing answers until he finally admits that he's just trying to make sure that some of his fences are getting to the right spots. Maya reiterates that he's doing criminal things and that they are EMs and he's once again thinking about baby names. He cooks them a meal and cuts them loose and runs off into the woods.

The encounter is jarring and leaves them perplexed. Not often have they ran into thieves who leave an apology meal. ))

That Nirvaan would have his longtime mentor to guide and comfort him should anything happen to her was something that Aurora valued more than she could say, but she guessed at how much Dareth feared now for him. She didn’t envy that for the drow, but she was grateful he was there for it regardless. Aurora would tell him as much, likely before he finally left her to her thoughts. A saved off-handed comment to prevent further discussion but still convey her emotions.

“Perhaps,” she muttered. The fey thought of a small municipality in Colorado. “Fate would have a twisted sense of humour.” Aurora glanced down at the light that the fire sword strapped to her side spread all over the floor, flickering around them endlessly. “I’m not going to pretend that I’m ready for this, Dareth, or that I care right now to avenge any fallen ancestors… If I die, I won���t be reunited with my children. My father died out here looking for answers about my grandmother who also likely died out here too. I don’t want to be like them but I can’t have been rescued from the Drow Court at the cost of power to be powerless, whether that would be alive as an exile or dead here… I don’t even want absolution. All I want is to bring some hope back to the fey and come home.” She said so without emotion, without any indication that it was a moment to feel sorry for herself. Aurora merely spoke the truth, knowing that if she might have limited time left as herself than she might as well be every bit herself that she could afford to be. Every bit that didn’t quake or fall to fear, at least.

“So I won’t let myself believe Simikiel is an impossible task because I’m not letting myself believe that I won’t see my home again.” A pause; Aurora stared absently at the darkness ahead. “There’s no other option. If I can’t be broken, then I will be the breaker. I will break him.” And the power - her magic and whatever more that they could gather from Simikiel - it would be hope. They all needed hope, desperately.

“I think it must.” Time and fate took more than they gave, at least, that had always been Dareth’s thoughts on the matter. But he and Meryasek had children now, a family. Secret as it was. For all that the drow had lost, he’d been given much more than he deserved. There was fey blood on his hands, he wasn’t without crimes, but the King had never asked him to atone. Everything about Aurora’s sentence was personal - and perhaps it was, though Dareth couldn’t explain to Aurora that a crime committed against Farenduil’s children had to be punished. Otherwise the hidden hollowborns’ could be struck at without recourse. 

If only some of Aurora’s certainty could rub off on Nirvaan, the two of them were a good match for each other. Young as they were Dareth could see how she might lean on him and how he would do the same. He remained quiet, he wouldn’t dismiss her vigilance, there was a force to the chancellor that was undeniable. Even without her song, Dareth was not one who was accustomed to relying on hope, but the King’s directive was clear: so hope was all that they had. 

“It is beautiful, isn’t it?” As a drow of the Underdark, stripped of his memories, he’d spent thousands of years in caverns. As terrifying as the dark could be, the horrors and the threats, there was some beauty within. Crystalline stalactites, and structures built by goblins that were too fantastic to describe. Returning to the mortal realm had been a stark reminder of the stars, but the Otherworld was some marriage of both - as if above them were all the stars of all the realms blanketed above them. Beyond the ridge where they sat was a forest of barren trees, sparse ruins illuminated by the glow of the violet and azure galaxies that danced above them. “I think we take it for granted, that even as immortals our lives are brief and inconsequential.” Maybe fate cared if they were victorious, maybe it didn’t, it only mattered that they were there and they were fighting. “You might face him alone, but we walk beside you still.”

Cole lines and corrects any mistakes in the sketches. He also creates character designs.

Nya is in charge of painting.

Kai and Zane - writers

Kai often draws from the story conflicts for the characters and the world, and also makes sure that Zane does not write the script in an official style.

Zane creates laws for the manga world so that fantasy can exist with the real world. He also wrote the limits for this world, which they, the writers, must not break so that the events in the manga remain consistent and do not get out of the way of the world.

Pixal, Lloyd and Wu are readers and sometimes give some ideas for manga

Sample headcanons:

Jay does not like to draw backdrops, as he draws them for a long time, but he sends sketches of cars, planes and any equipment to Cole on the line a few minutes after the start of work.

Cole has begun to understand pens and always tells ninjas that this brand of pen can leak and this one is uncomfortable to hold. He hates the "Lotus" brand (a fictitious brand), as their pens left huge blots on Jay's sketches, and also his hands were not washed for a long time.

Nya became even more versed in the color palette, and also learned how to quickly paint. Like Cole, she began to sort out her belongings, only if Cole had pens, then she had brushes. She now always checks what the bristles of the brush are made of, so that while painting, the hairs do not fall out of the tip.

Kai and Zane often came up with cool conflicts for the characters while washing dishes or cooking.

One day they were washing pots, and while the dirt was coming off the iron, Zane had already come up with a story arc for two characters, while Kai was adding ideas and rough conflict resolutions for the characters.

And when they finished preparing the salad, the Fire Maiden and the Ice Snake appeared in the manga, which will become the most popular and interesting characters in the whole work.

Kai created terrible conditions for the characters to start developing through pain and tears, and Zane added good events to their lives so that the characters would not get angry at the whole world and have a healthy psyche.

It was strange for Lloyd that Zane, who often sacrificed himself in battles, writes sweet and kind stories, and Kai, who often tries to cheer up or support the team, comes up with such depressing arcs in the manga that even Sensei Wu begins to shed tears of empathy for the Ice Snake.

At one point, Kai can no longer write the plot for the manga due to loss of interest in the work and decide to show his departure from the team by killing the Fire Maiden and turning her into a torch.

The entire fan base of the comic cried over the loss of such a character, and the ninja received letters in the mail from Dareth and comic book store managers, who asked for the return of the Fire Maiden.

Kai forbade the return of this character, making a comparison with Garmadon, whom some villains constantly want to return, ruining his life. Fanbase and managers stopped writing letters.

Lloyd often poisons ninja links to fanfiction from their manga and, hell, they still refuse to read fanfiction marked 18+.
