Canada Postal Workers Strike: This Will Close my shop entirely for now

okay so 95% of all prints and art that I mail to the states use stamp mail and lettermail.

Which means that a postal strike, the one that begins today, is going to essentially kill my ENTIRE business until it's over. I'm going to package what prints I can, see if I can route purolator solutions for the people who've already paid, and the whole shop is going to go on vacation mode so no one accidentally buys things I can't ship

Commission setup is probably going to keep on keeping on using alternate shipping methods, but please do NOT buy anything right now since I have little to no way to ship it at the moment

If you have recently purchased anything within the last week or so, I'm sorry to say you'll need to expect delays with whatever you've gotten

I... I don't really know what I'll be doing for income in the upcoming weeks. Relying on savings I guess. Depending on how long the strike takes I might promote the patreon a bit more but I don't really know now

#in anticipation of the incoming remake #i tried my best to imitate the SH font but #silent hill #silent hill 2 #angela #angela orosco #theme of laura (reprise)#i've said it before but in spite of its occasionally clunky diction i think silent hill 2 is an unusually emotionally intelligent game #for any year and still today but especially so for where gaming storytelling was in 2001 #and for as many pitfalls a story like hers could've dipped into i think it particularly shines through with how they treated angela #not just choosing to depict victimhood as something that can be ugly and fractious and open quote “difficult” but then this #actively rebuffing james for trying to be a white knight and dressing him down for it too #“i know you mean well and want to help but this isn't a simple problem"#“and it's really hurtful and a bit insulting that you act like you can”#the switching to a first person view turning it into an address to the player as well #maybe even old videogame tropes too #“this isn't some princess in a castle kind of situation dude this is more serious than that”#it felt like a very deliberate statement about the depth and severity of a trauma like this #and in doing so showing it so much respect #there is no quick easy solution to this and you won't get one #then angela just leaves #and you never see her again #i really don't think it was to imply that it consumed her i think it was to underline what was just said #this isn't your problem to fix #this is where your part in this story ends #there's some strength in that

Yes we've all heard aroace people complain about the 'you haven't met the right person' line. But to the idiots citing this as the reason aroace people 'aren't oppressed’: No, micro aggressions aren't what's oppressing us.

I could talk about corrective rape, but I'm not going to because that's not what scares me the most. The worst thing about being aroace (aromantic, and asexual to a certain extent) is that society is set up for couples.

Being aromantic is a crushing economic disadvantage. As a couple, you can save more. As a legal couple, you can borrow more. This puts Mortgages out of reach for a lot of aromantics. Adopting too. Although aro people can adopt, you must have a similar income to a couple, which again, rules out a lot of aros. Don't forget Immigration, spousal visas will never be an option for us.

Being poor and aro means you're denied housing, family, international movement, basically anything that allos of a similar income would get. And anything you can get, you'll have to jump through many more hoops for. But we can't fix this by legalising aro marriage, like we did for the gays. Until our society's economic system is completely revolutionised, we'll be waiting.

It's impossible to compare oppression. You can't objectively say which minority group has it worse and I really mean that. But also I'd rather be called slurs and hated by Christians all fucking day.

nothing infuriates me more than, when someone points out rich people donate a lesser income percentage, the response is "well that's why they're rich loool poor people are so dumb for donating money to anyone" because 1. they'd still be fucking rich if they have a consistently high income and 2. what a bleak worldview to have. "you're such a loser for caring about people less fortunate than you when you're not financially stable yourself ". the fact that anyone hears that and thinks they're a good person for agreeing is insane. completely devoid of compassion and connection to fellow human beings. I do not view you in a more positive light than billionaires.

#and you'd assume from my failson posting I would never spend money myself- that's actually not true #I donate quite often #I don't typically clarify that on social media however #also if i'm with a friend who has less money than me I will want to pay for everything #I guess i'm like the relationship version of progressive income taxation #but if it's someone rich? you will not catch me splitting bills #anyone who has a problem with that can choose to not be with me. simple
