Aelin found an old bottle of wine. A very old one. At least 200-300 years old, the date mostly rubbed out, and no idea how strong it actually would be. Still, neither of you could resist the temptation. You knew it wasn’t poisoned, you’d be able to sniff that out, and Aelin always tested. Fenrys walked in after you each had a glass or two, and were already well on your way to drunk. 

“Where’s the other bottles?” He frowned, looking at your state. Both of you, being northerners, could drink most people under the table. You pointed to the dark bottle on the side table. 

“Just that one,” you grinned. 

He eyed both of you cautiously, stalking over towards the bottle. Apparently, being old as dirt he recognized it and his eyes glinted in amusement. “Fae wine,” he announced as if he’d solved some great puzzle. 

Aelin snatched it out of his hands, filling up your glasses again. “It’s delicious.” 

After she’d finished, Fenrys stole it back and poured himself a tall glass before either of you could protest. 

Eventually, you gave up the glasses, and passed it back and forth between the two of you - keeping it out of Fenrys’s reach. 

“Why aren’t you sharing?” You could see he was fighting a pout. 

“Grapes are poisonous to dogs.” Aelin drawled. It was an absolutely horrible joke, but the two of you broke out into laughter. You saw the amusement in the male’s eyes, even as he tried to keep a stoic mask. 

“Is there any more?” You asked Aelin, swirling the empty bottle, barely gripping it by its neck. It nearly dropped from between your fingers before Fenrys caught it, carefully placing it on the coffee table, and out of your reaches. You felt the small draft flow through the room, and heard the quiet opening of the door.

“I think you two have had enough.” He heard Fenrys drawl. The male gave him a look as if to say ‘they’re you’re problem now.’ He ignored him as he darted out the door, leaving him with Aelin and you. 

Aelin lounged across the couch, her head in your lap. You were trying to braid her hair - only making a mess of it. He could smell the wine leaking from both of you, and spotted the empty bottle on the table. Only one bottle. 

“Where are the others?” The two of you, together, could drink half of the bane under the table. 

“Rowan,” Aelin almost screamed, as if she’d just registered his presence. 

“That’s the bottle,” you pointed towards the one he’d seen. He nearly rolled his eyes. 

“Yes,” he said patiently, “where are the others?”

“That’s it.” A goofy grin filled your face, and he couldn’t hide how his lips turned up at the corners, seeing both of you relaxed and care-free. 

He sniffed the bottle. Fae wine. That explains a lot.

Aelin shot you a glance as Rowan was distracted inspecting the bottle. Fussy Buzzard. Tackle him? Her eyes glinted. 

You gave a small nod and you both crept to your feet. It didn’t work as planned as you both crashed into him from either side. But, you did manage to knock him slightly off balance. Your arms locked around him, pinning his arms to his sides. He could easily shake them off if he wanted to. 

“I missed you too.” He murmured instead, wiggling his arms out to pull each of them closer to his chest. 

Aelin reached up and pinched one cheek. He nipped at her hand, but she pulled her fingers back quickly, laughing at him. You pinched the other one, but he caught your wrist, lowering it back down to your side. You gave him a sheepish smile, and pinched his side instead. He didn’t move or flinch and you frowned. Right, not ticklish. Your disappointment must’ve amused him, because a small chuckle escaped his lips. 

Aelin wiggled out of his grasp, dragging you with her. “We’re going to find another,” she yelled over her shoulder, heading towards the door. A shield of wind blocked the exit. 

“I think you’ve had enough,” he mused, and was met with twin glares.

It’s been two years since Queen Ramonda had passed and life as Shuri knew it never was the same. Having to accept the cruel reality of losing all of her family members and taking up the duties as Black Panther wasn’t making it easier either. Everyday felt like a burden and she somewhat felt guilty for even being able to live while all of her family resided in the Ancestral Plane. She would have drowned in her own sorrow had it not been for ngelosi yam ( my angel ) sent from Bast herself.

Riri Williams, the young American scientist who somehow managed to rope herself into some serious trouble had caught the attention of the Princess. Shuri didn’t know if it was from her brilliant mindset or her unapologetic cocky confidence with a beautiful face. Getting to know her was even better cause under all that tough skin was a young girl trying to repair her past by being a hero for the future. She too had her own experience with the loss of family and ones she dearly loved so leaning on her even just for a little while was easy and comforting.

The two were inseparable soon after. Before the thought of dating even occurred, they were good friends. They kept in contact once she had to go back home. Early-morning texts and late-night calls held them surprisingly well. Call it trauma bonding, but Riri kept her steady. Shuri was able to feel again and heal herself well. With Riri by her side, she too soon gained her confidence back and helped rebuild Wakanda into a new era of life, both of which created new and improved safety protocols for the nation.

Life was beginning to look brighter for the Panther. Her feelings for Riri grew more intense each and every day to the point she couldn’t handle them any longer. To her clueless surprise, the young American scientist was just as in love as she was. And their relationship flourished since that moment. The two didn’t know how to announce their relationship so they thought it best to be discreet for now, but that didn’t stop them from secretly knowing looks and lingering touches every time they were near each other. The women were very much in love and everyone could see it, yet waited patiently for the news.

They couldn’t help it either. Long distance was a struggle for them, but that made each moment they spent together heavenly and intense. Cause once the two were reunited things always got a little handsy. This moment was no different either.

Riri finally had time to come back to Wakanda making it almost 5 months since both of them had ( touched ) seen each other. The moment she laid eyes on her Riri, she was astonished. Riri had her hair in a style called butterfly locs with some of them half in a ponytail and half down her back while two locs hung in her face. She wore a black crop top shirt that read “ babygirl “ which was bedazzled in rhinestones and had on black baggy sweatpants that she immediately recognized were hers. Everything about Riri was absolutely alluring to her. The young scientist was blossoming into her young adult self and it had the Panther ready to pounce on her in front of the whole lab.

The two hugged each other, missing the feeling of each other’s skin both seemingly having to keep composure over themselves. Once they released each other, both went straight to work. Though Shuri’s mind was elsewhere captured by the presence of her lover. She couldn’t help but scan down her muscular toned body. Having to operate her suit definitely took a toll on her body in the best way. The longer she stared engraving every detail of the young woman’s body again. Remembering her soft spots, the way she smells, and how soft her skin feels underneath her fingertips. That’s when she notices how every time Riri raises her arms even slightly, her new now freshly healed back tattoo just peeking out to her. At that moment Shuri could not contain her desire to herself.

“ Hey Ri can I talk to you for a minute “ before Riri could even respond Shuri grabbed her hand dragging her out of the lab and down to her living quarters. Not even making it halfway down the hall, Shuri pulls Riri behind a pillar and crashes their lips together. They groan in unity both relieved by the taste and feeling of one another. So caught up in the moment not even caring that they were still in the halls of the palace for anyone to see.

Riri pulls away trying to catch her breath. “ You just couldn’t help yourself could you ? “ she says while laughing at her. Shuri just smiles and bites her lip.

“ I could never contain my love for you, “ she says while twirling one of her locs with her finger. She stares deep into those big brown eyes of Riri's, thanking Bast for reuniting them together at last. “ I need you sthandwa sam (my love). Will you let me have you ? “ pure desire oozes through the Panther’s voice as she pulls Riri’s body closer to hers again. Grabbing her by the head, Riri gives her what she needs. The energy shifts during this kiss both women completely drunk off each other’s lips. At this point, a couple of Doras roam the halls stumbling on both women quickly retreating to where they were giving the two privacy.

Shuri’s hands caress every inch of her body, getting the familiar feeling of her again. Riri lifts her leg snaking it around Shuri’s waist, opening herself more to the Panther. In one swift move, Shuri picks her up carrying her the rest of the way. Not bothering to look where she’s going only trusting her instincts as their minds flooded with lust. Riri softly traces her fingertips up and down the Panther’s neck sending shivers down her spine. Rushing into her living quarters, Shuri heads for the bed plopping her right in the center. She climbs on top of her, aligning them face to face. Beginning to shower her in kisses from her forehead to neck slowly making her way down savoring the moment afraid she might slip away from her again. Riri had other plans though, clawing at the hem of Shuri’s pants wanting all of her now. Shuri chuckles at her eagerness, moving her hand off of her. She towers over Riri starting to remove her clothes herself till a voice chimes in out of thin air.

“ Panther, there is a lab emergency that requires you and Miss Williams's assistance, “ Griot said suddenly snapping the pair out of their trance. Completely forgotten about the lab and the work that needs to be done, they both laugh realizing how much they might have missed each other. They fix themselves up and head back to the lab. Putting their needs on hold, drowning themselves into work. Hours pass through rapidly, plenty of things to fix filling the time. Sunset is almost upon them leaving the lab mostly empty except for a few scientists finishing up.

Riri was at her station tidying up her area not noticing the Panther creeping up behind her. That’s when she feels her hands pressing into her sides firmly trapping her between the table and her lover. Shuri moves her hair out of the way and kisses down her neck flowing through her sweet spots. Riri immediately arches her back letting the Panther consume her with love. One hand still gripping her side while another begins to trail down to the waistband of her sweats. Riri sucks in her breath, careful to keep quiet in case others are still around.

The two once again caught up in each other's bodies not noticing Ayo arriving in the lab. There to retrieve the Panther for the council meeting, Ayo looks around for her stumbling on both of them pressed up against a station table not caring to check their surroundings. Though she did not wish to disturb them, the matter was urgent.

“ Ahem “ Ayo spoke loudly, startling Shuri and Riri who quickly unraveled each other. They spot the General coming towards them as they embarrassedly fix themselves for the second time today. “ Apologies, Panther did not wish to disturb you two, but King M’Baku and the Elders require your attendance for the council meeting, “ she said.

Shuri completely forgot about the meeting only having Riri racing through her mind. Riri giggles a little knowing it was her fault for this forgetfulness. She looks over at her laughing and pulls her back closer to her body smiling deeply. “ Yes of course. Please let the King and the Elders know I’m heading towards them now “ she replied. Ayo nods her head and salutes the Panther as she turns to exit the lab.

“ Well, I guess the secrets out. She'll definitely tell everyone how she just caught us in this lab “ Riri whines.

“ Too late for that we’ve already been caught Ri. I saw some Doras spot us in the hallway earlier “ she said while chuckling. Shocked she kept that from her, Riri playfully hits her a couple of times. She grabs her hands to dodge her attempts to strike her. Bringing them to her lips, she gently kisses her palms. The two never missing a moment to show affection for each other.

“ See ya back at the room? “ Riri asks.

“ Yeah, I’ll see you “ the pair kiss goodbye and go their separate ways hoping for no more distractions for the rest of the day.

an: I got this idea from me having to wash and blow dry my hair today. my hands and arms are still recovering.

“And you know my love is real, boy, I can” you sang along with Mary J. Blige while parting your hair into sections so that you could blow dry it.

Today was washday which meant that your arms were getting the workout they needed and that your neck would be sore from all the weird positions you would move it to blow dry your hair efficiently.

While you were trying to sing the chorus and adlibs you saw your phone vibrate on the counter.

Miles 🧸❤️: Is now a good time to come over to your place???

Miles 🧸❤️: I can’t keep drawing you in my notebook over and over again :(

You smiled and texted him back when you read the message. Ever since you found all the drawings of you in Miles notebook, you constantly teased him about it.

You: If you don’t mind watching me blow dry my hair and sing off key then sure ☺️🩷

As soon as Miles got the text, He swung a little bit harder and faster to your house. Ever since he had known you, you always had your hair in some hairstyle other than naturally out. Whether that be in braids, locs, sew-ins, wigs, etc. He loved all your different hairstyles but he had always been curious to what your hair in its natural form looked like. It would also give him new photos to draw of you in his notebook. A win-win for him really.

He knocked on the door to your house and a few seconds later he was greeted by you. As soon as the door opened he saw your face and then looked up. To be honest with himself, he was gaping and staring at you for like 5 seconds straight before you put an end to it.

You were attempting to explain that your parents were at work so you guys had the house all to yourselves but when he wasn’t replying back you decided to actually look at him and saw him with his mouth open.

A few more seconds passed before you asked, “Are you gonna keep staring or do you wanna come in?” You giggled. You didn’t know what was going through the brain of his. He always stared at you when he was drawing or trying to remember something but you didn’t know what he was looking at this time because you were kind of tired from all the heat from the blow dryer.

“Yeah, no, you’re right!” Miles shyly nodded while walking in. When you shut the door behind him you then realized what he was staring at.

Scrunching your eyebrows you asked, “Were you looking like a fish out of water because of what my hair looks like?” You weren’t that nervous of Miles seeing your hair because if he really liked you, which he always told you he did, then something as little as hair wouldn’t be a problem.

“Yeah, sorry about that. I didn’t mean to come off as judging or anything” Miles said while scratching the back of his neck and shaking his head. “I just have never seen your natural hair and it looks really pretty” He added with a sheepish smile while looking down.

You giggled again at how shy he was being. “Thank you Miles, that’s really sweet of you” You stated while walking over and giving him a kiss on his cheek.

“And I have never ever looked like a fish out of water” He said after remembering what you said and getting over his shyness.

With a laugh you replied, “Miles I don’t think i’ve ever seen you not look like a fish out of water”

for context, Respect is part of my series You’re A Part Of Me which is about Time and Wars both DURING the War of Eras and also during LU. And this happened during the war of eras and I was gonna have Time do it again to reference back to this part of the beginning of the fic:

“Would you care to explain to me why you told my commanding officer to suck your dick??” Link demanded, fighting extremely hard to keep control of his voice but unable to keep it from wavering just a little.

“I didn’t tell him to suck my dick,” Mask huffed, crossing his arms over his chest as he turned around in his chair to face him, scowling at the captain. “If you’re going to accuse me of things, at least get your facts right. I told him to suck my balls.”

He watched something in his brother snap as Link’s right eye started twitching and the captain stopped breathing all together. Mask was fairly certain he was holding his breath so he didn’t lose control and end up strangling him.

it’s also taking forever because i want it to be multiple chapters and who knew how hard it would be to write the pov’s between the past and the future 😮‍💨😮‍💨 (so this one is most likely going to be my next post because imma put out a couple chapters at different times!!!)

2. a koc/jj smutty Christmas fic 😼😼 (I CANT FOR THE LIFE OF ME figure out how to write a player/couch dynamic) every time i think im getting the hang out it, i reread it and delete it cuz i hate it😭😭 so that one might take a while!!

3. stef/josh angsty reunion. basically they see each other again, outside of the football field (maybe during offseason or sum??) and they finally talk about everything yk?? just a very emotional fic tho with all the angsty and eventually fluff (and probably smut 😭)

4. another stef/josh EXCEPT it has nothing to do with football and it’s a Hallmark au. like city boy Stefon meets farmer boy Josh out in butt fuck nowhere after Stefon’s plane has to have an emergency landing due to weather or some shit like that. and it’s all the cliches of a Hallmark movie. the small town community, trying to save the local bakery, Stefon not liking Christmas that much, Josh teaching him Christmas is more than just Santa and presents, it’ll even start snowing when the kiss. like i wanna go full out!!

but that ones gonna take a while too cuz it would be fully from scratch and i wouldn’t have anything to go off of (if that makes sense??😭)

how long have you had the idea for the story? what's your outlining process like? how big of a backlog did you have before you started posting?

your dedication and committment to this fic is incredibly impressive and i am astonished (and grateful!!!!) for the consistent weekly updates and fr i just wanna know how you manage it all... (speaking as someone who has been working on the same 40ish chapter fic for over 5 years lol....)

Omg hiiiii friend thank you for the questions I LOVE talking about writing!! I usually start writing long stories after I get an idea for a particular scene, and then I heavily outline around that scene and I plan everything down to the smallest detail, but for attrition I just.... didn't plan at all, that fic spawned to existence out of pure whimsy and happenstance. It was supposed to be a ONE SHOT 😭I started writing it in May of 2023 after I read the first book and I was like mm wouldn't it be interesting if Glinda found Elphaba at the convent surely this won't be longer than 5k words...

I am a severely delusional person.

By the time I hit 20k words I realized perhaps it would not be a one shot lol. I didn't really have an outline I just kept throwing ideas on the page thinking eventually I would just run out of things to say, but it actually took a very long time before that happened. The backlog is pretty much the whole fic tbh, I finished it all and sent it to my beta reader (who was horrified because the whole thing was one massive document not even divided into chapters) and then we went back and forth for months while I polished things up, tightened loose ends, added foreshadow, cleaned up the prose and things like that.

I'm still working on revising the final chapters, but the fic was 80% done before I started posting in November! I am truly more of an editor than I am a writer, the first draft of this thing was finished very quickly and it was very rough, so it took a lot of revisions before I was satisfied.

But anyway, yeah! I may not be the best person to ask how to manage it all because my process is weird I write super fast very unpolished first drafts then spend two lifetimes editing and revising. Mad respect to you and other writers who are able to write exactly what they want from the start and post that to incredible results!!
