I will get to writing over here today, but in the meantime, I want to talk about J.ing Yuan. I talked about him a while back in regards to how his mind is constantly going through 4D chess, which in turn, can make one distrusting if they become aware of what he’s doing. However, this is not on purpose. There’s no nefarious reasons for him doing this. It just came naturally as he spent more time in his position as a general. It became necessary in order to basically survive Xianzhou politics. If you were not keeping even the smallest of actions and words in mind, you were going to be eaten alive by those around you who are looking for mistakes, perceived or otherwise.

This is something he probably learned very early in his career – something that he makes sure that Yanqing becomes aware of as well as he is trying to prepare him for his future role. Being skilled with a blade is one thing, surviving a world where your every word and action is looked at under a microscope is another. Hell, D.an Heng has to sometimes translate what’s going on to the crew (the younger members – W.elt and H.imeko tend to know what’s up) since he knows how things work thanks to his past incarnation.
