Why, of course I'm still around! I'm not that easy to get rid of. To the second point; nah it's not in a notes app for the most part. I write some things down in advance, but for the most part it just comes right out of the ol' brain into the askbox. Unless I'm writing it as a fic, that is.
Recently, I've also been thinking about kanamafu and glasses. Based on Mafuyu's one trained card, I do think she has reading glasses, though she doesn't wear them super frequently. She doesn't need them, it just makes things a bit easier.
Kanade does not wear glasses. Kanade SHOULD be wearing glasses. (inspired by me getting an area conversation of Kanade going "I don't see anybody today" in the empty SEKAI with Meiko, Luka, and Mizuki literally right there with her)
Kanade's incredibly nearsighted, but also incredibly stubborn on the issue. She's always sitting right up next to her computer so it's fine, she doesn't need glasses, she's been doing just okay without them for years. Mafuyu, after living with her for about a day: "you need glasses." - K

25 Vox expressions and a couple alternate ones under the cut :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Confused + Sillyyyy!!
for the first one, i wanted the practice of drawing a confused face, not just a joking loading circle, so here's a bonus expression i'm happy with :)
OKAY, SO THE CLOWN EMOJI WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FOR "SILLY," BUT I JUST KEPT GETTING "OH HE IS ABOUT TO MURDER SOMEONE" VIBES. SO THIS IS A FANTASTIC ALTERNATE "SARCASTIC" EMOTE
fun side note: i didn't realize just how sarcastic Vox is until i STRUGGLED to not draw from memory his faces from his lines "Oh God here I go. Valentino. just another fUckin' day with Val" (ep 2) or "Oh, it looks like your little hotel didn't work out so well" (start of ep 8). (when i told a friend this, they delighted me by gleefully saying, "There's not a genuine bone in his body") (ALSO HI @clownmoontoon THANK YOU FOR THE SILLY CALLS) (...AND IT'S SO LAME THAT YOU CAN'T TAG SOMEONE IN CAPS LOCK)

shaving his face | kmg
Tumblr media
you offer to shave mingyu’s face for the first time, despite having no idea what you’re doing—and he lets you, all smiles and patience. between messy foam, playful threats, and him trying (and failing) to stay quiet, the slow morning turns soft in all the ways that matter. [wc. 1k]
PAIRING. husband!mingyu x wife!reader
GENRE. fluff
NOTE. come back after god knows how long, hoping that you enjoy this.
“okay. sit. don’t talk. don’t move.”
mingyu raised both brows as he lowered himself onto the small stool in the bathroom, the one you usually kept tucked under the sink. it wobbled slightly under his weight.
“you sure this thing’s safe?”
“well, if it breaks, that’s on you for being massive,” you muttered, grabbing the can of shaving foam and shaking it aggressively.
he smirked, adjusting the towel around his shoulders. “wow. love the support, babe.”
“just shut up,” you said, but you were smiling too.
he obeyed, lips twitching as he pressed them together dramatically and tilted his chin up. he looked ridiculous—bare-faced, sleepy-eyed, hair still damp from his shower, and way too amused for someone about to have a first-timer drag a razor across his face.
you stared at him for a second, holding the razor awkwardly. “you know i’ve never shaved anyone else before, right?”
“mm-hmm,” he hummed.
“like, i know how to shave my legs and stuff, but this is your face. your pretty face. what if i mess up?”
he opened one eye. “you won’t. i trust you.”
you groaned and leaned in to press some foam onto his jaw. “you’re so annoying. why are you always sweet when i’m trying to be mad at you?”
he smiled, lips still sealed, and made a little mmm sound to tease you.
you rolled your eyes and started carefully spreading the foam across his face, moving slowly like it was some kind of art project. the cream coated his jawline and chin easily, but then he opened his mouth slightly to speak—
“stop.”
you pointed the nozzle directly at his lips. “i’m warning you.”
he blinked, then tried to say something again, just to be difficult.
so you squirted a big blob right over his mouth.
“there,” you said proudly. “you talk too much anyway.”
his eyes widened. he made a muffled noise and reached up to wipe it, but you slapped his hand away.
“nope. hands down. let the professional work.”
he laughed through his nose, head tilted back slightly as you brought the razor closer to his face.
you moved slow at first, dragging the blade carefully across his cheek. every tiny scratchy sound made you more nervous, but mingyu didn’t even flinch. he just sat there quietly, eyes flicking up to yours every now and then, like he was studying your face more than he cared about his own.
you paused halfway through and frowned. “do i… go up or down?”
he tapped the counter behind you twice with his fingers — his way of saying ‘down.’
you nodded to yourself. “right. that makes sense. i think.”
he made another sound, like a muffled laugh, but you just wiped more foam on him to shut him up again.
“this is harder than it looks,” you said under your breath. “you have such a big face.”
he pointed to himself proudly. big face, big brain.
you rolled your eyes and kept shaving.
it took longer than you thought. he had a lot of facial hair, and you were being extra careful not to nick him. your hands were a little shaky at first, but eventually, the rhythm settled. foam, razor, wipe. again. again.
at one point, you felt his eyes on you again — really watching you this time — and you glanced at him.
“what?”
he shrugged slightly.
“you’re staring.”
he raised both brows and gestured like you’re cute, duh.
you narrowed your eyes at him. “stop being romantic. i’m holding a blade.”
he smiled through the foam. “mmph.”
finally, you finished the last section on his neck and stepped back, exhaling like you just ran a marathon.
“okay. done. don’t touch anything yet.”
he sat still, eyes curious, while you grabbed a damp cloth and gently wiped the leftover cream from his skin. the towel was warm from the water and smelled like your fabric softener. you could feel the way his skin was smooth now under it, freshly shaved and clean.
he didn’t say anything, just let you wipe his face like it was the most normal thing in the world.
“there,” you said softly. “mission complete.”
he reached up to touch his face and let out a soft, impressed, “woah.”
you blinked. “what? did i miss a spot?”
he grinned. “no. it’s good. really good.”
you looked at him suspiciously. “you’re not just saying that to make me feel better, right?”
he stood up and leaned down to kiss your forehead, hands on your waist. “nope. you actually did a great job.”
you felt yourself smiling as you leaned into his chest. “i was scared the whole time. you’re lucky i love you.”
“i know,” he said, kissing the side of your head. “i could feel the love in every terrified little stroke.”
you smacked his shoulder lightly, laughing. “shut up. go get ready. you’re gonna be late.”
“don’t wanna leave now,” he mumbled, wrapping his arms around you and resting his chin on top of your head. “you just pampered me. feels wrong to go.”
“mingyu.”
“okay, okay,” he sighed, finally pulling away and heading to the bedroom.
you stayed behind to clean up the mess — foam on the sink, water on the floor, the little towel you used to wipe his face. five minutes later, he came back out fully dressed, wearing that navy button-up you loved.
you paused when you saw him. “you look really good.”
he smiled and opened his arms dramatically. “because my amazing wife shaved me.”
you laughed, stepping into his hug again. “yeah, yeah. just don’t let anyone else touch that face today.”
“only you,” he said easily. “always.”
you walked him to the door and kissed him goodbye — once, then again, because he always stole a second one.
“text me when you get there,” you reminded him.
“i will.”
“and don’t skip lunch just ‘cause you’re busy.”
“i won’t.”
you watched him leave, the front door clicking shut behind him, and let out a breath.
quiet mornings like this were your favorite — where nothing big happened, but everything still felt soft and full. shaving cream in your hair, mingyu being annoying in the best way, your little apartment filled with sleepy laughter.
this was marriage.
this was love.
this was yours.

Looooove it (/s) when people who haven’t taken an art class since 5th grade make all kinds of judgements about college-level art classes and say shit like “isn’t it an easy class though? Don’t you get an A just for showing up? Or just for participating? You don’t actually have to be good at art to pass that class right?” Like okay maybe when you’re ten years old your art teacher isn’t gonna grade you by technique and skill but contrary to popular belief you actually have to be *good* at art and work your fucking ass off every single day to get a good grade in an art class
#The kids in IB Music at my school get automatic A’s#Not even for showing up they can skip half the year and still pass their class their teacher just does not care#And they wrongfully assume that IB Visual Art is the same way#Like. no!! I actually have to work really really hard on my portfolio for two years to get even a B in this class 😊#Like good for you that your class is nothing but my teacher actually expects me to be good at my craft to get a good grade 👍#And also contrary to popular belief being good at art is not just Drawing Realistically. You don’t get an A or an F based on how realistic#you can draw. It’s about utilizing media in a purposeful way; learning the rules and techniques for the media in question;#mastering the elements/principles of design; putting in effort; & having creative ideas that you can successfully communicate in your piece#Idk I guess what defines good art is subjective and a conversation and all that. But that’s how you get a good grade in this class at least#Like. It’s not as easy as ''turn in a ten second doodle and get an A for just trying''#and it’s not as basic as ''turn in a realistic drawing and get an A for being good at realism''#Anyways. Currently trying out printmaking and it’s going SO bad 😵‍💫😵‍💫#I don’t expect higher than a C on this project#but!!! For my final grade at the end of the first quarter I got an A & that’s the first time it’s happened with this class :-)#(it’s a 2 year course; last year I ended each quarter with a C. & a B once)#So whatever I’m proud of myself#tbf this quarter has mostly been about the Comparative Study & writing about art is easier than actually creating art so that’s probably wh#still an A’s an A

Imagine getting isekai’ed into otome game as a background character, watching the main character going down routes as you live your peaceful, mundane life, but you’ve unknowingly been going down a route as well, a route for a hidden character that you didn’t discover during your time playing the game.
That character being the reason the game has a dark content warning.
Gosh anon, that idea is so good!!!! I didn't know it would tickle all the right places in my brain, but when I started I couldn't stop lol. Love it, thank you for sending it in ♥
If this had one of these super long titles that are tmi it would be:
I got Isekai'ed into an Otome Game as a Background Character and now I Have to Finish It with the Secret Yandere Love Interest!!
»»———————— ♡ ————————««
A serene smile spread over your lips as you watched the two lovebirds in the corner of your coffee shop.
Swirling the milk into a cup, it created a little white heart surrounded by foamy coffee, its aroma drifting into your nose. Had someone told you that the little things like a cup of coffee made with love and care were enough to give you the peace of mind you always wanted in your previous life, you would have laughed at them. For you, it had always been the hustle, the making money, finding a partner, and creating a family. Make everyone proud while being successful, whether it costs you nights of sleep or days without proper meals. But looking at yourself now, it all seemed so far away now, and you let out a content sigh before setting down the cup in front of the customer at the bar.
"You seem happy today," your regular at the counter noted, picking up the cup and taking a moment to appreciate the aroma just like you had. A smile sneaked onto their lips, too, after they took a sip, and you couldn't help but feel your heart swell with pride and happiness when they gave you a satisfied nod.
"I am! I'm really getting accustomed to my new life here, it's... been a while since I've been so content."
The truth behind everything that happened to you was something you couldn't speak about lightly. Not when it turned the life you knew upside down, leaving you to start over completely. One day you were an employee of a well-known company, responsible for sales and reports and everything stressful. And the next, you were in your favorite, cozy video game, running the coffee shop the main character liked to visit with all the romance options in the game.
Isekai was the genre that came to mind when you thought about your situation. Luckily you were spared the memories of your death in the real world, the circumstances blurry as you barely remembered going home late from work, only to wake up in this very different universe. Perhaps you were just comatose, and this was a dream. Still, by now, you had managed to slip into your role as the barista of the small coffee shop, a barely mentioned background character, just fine.
Your eyes jumped back to the couple in the corner, giggling and teasing each other over a group project, and you felt an immense relief you weren't reincarnated as the main protagonist and had to go through the years of studying and trying to establish connections with the love interests again. You already did that in your old life, and it wasn't as romantic and fun as the game made it out to be. You only played it because it got your mind off things, the art was pretty, and it had the exact amount of cozy time management you needed to relax. But living as the main character in it? No, thank you!
"Jealous?" your regular teased, and you chuckled, shaking your head. They tapped their—now empty—cup, and you took it from them, replacing it with some water until you had the next cup of coffee ready for them.
"I just think it's cute. I never had someone so interested in me they'd take me out for coffee and share their cake with me when I was younger."
Your words tasted a little bitter on your tongue. Still, you genuinely couldn't wish for anything but the main character's happiness. It was just the feeling of being loved, desired, and wanted that you missed, even though your new life was more than satisfactory despite you feeling a little lonely sometimes.
"Well, it's never too late to start," they chuckled, taking up their fork and cutting off the tip of their strawberry shortcake, including the big chunk of strawberry on top, picking it up and holding it out towards you.
"Oh, I wouldn't dare--"
"I insist! As thanks for the amazing coffee every time I come here."
Nudging your lips with their fork, you let out an awkward chuckle. It was okay, right? They wouldn't sue you for eating the cake they paid for, would they? This was just a silly little game. What could go wrong with you accepting their kindness?
Opening your lips, you let them feed you the cake, taking a moment to let the sweet and fruity notes mix with the fluffy whip cream before you were sent straight to heaven. Not to toot your own horn, but your baking skills had improved so much since you started working at the shop. Who knew you had that in you?
Occupied with the moment of bliss as you let the cake flavor mix in your mouth, you hummed happily before devoting yourself back to making the coffee with a smile on your face. Unaware of your regular fixating on the fork you had just eaten from, staring at it like it was some strange artifact. Your phone dinged softly in its drawer, and you checked it briefly to see the notification pinging up, saying, "Achievement unlocked: Cake-Master - Provide the most delicious cake to your customers."
"Excuse me!" the main character called out to you, stepping up to the counter, and you directed your attention to her, ignoring the little game notification you've been receiving since starting your new life here, the love interest not far away before the two began fighting over who was going to pay the bill this time lovingly. Of course, the love interest won, but you wouldn't have expected it any other way. Seeing the blush on the main character's face after her romance option told her he'd "always take care" of her made you grin like a little fan, and you cheered them on in your head.
By the time you returned to your regular, their knuckles had gone white with how hard they were gripping the fork in their hand, their eyes following the couple who was about to leave. For a moment, it made you wonder if they had a crush on either of them, their sweet interaction surely uncomfortable if that was the case. But you didn't remember there being a jealousy scene in the game. You'd know, almost playing it 100% before your death. There apparently was a secret route you never got but were trying your hardest to achieve. Now you were left to wonder what it entailed.
But the second you returned, they looked up at you, expression softening and the tension disappearing, and you chalked it up to having witnessed a cringe moment that they had gotten so awkward. "Thank you for the cake, that was really nice of you! Do you want another fork?" you asked and were met with a headshake and a smile.
They quickly began eating their cake and complimenting your baking skills, stroking your growing ego when they rubbed their belly.
"I never had a cake that good!" they proclaimed, and you laughed out loud, overjoyed that you had made them so happy.
"Say..." they suddenly spoke up again, leaning on the counter and watching you with gentle eyes. Your heart set out for a second, tension rising as you didn't know what they were going to ask. Ever since you opened the coffee shop, the main character, love interests, and this regular had come by constantly. If you were honest, you enjoyed their visits more and more. Their presence felt like it belonged here with you, and you were a part of something bigger after all, washing away the small, lonely part of you.
And maybe... just maybe... this was how your happy end would play out.
"Are you this nice to every customer?"
Halting your movements, you set aside the brew head that you used on the espresso machine, despite having to clean it, thinking about your answer for a moment. It was a strange question to ask someone who worked in customer service. Still, you appreciated your regular, so you didn't want to give them a snarky answer.
"Uhm, well, I am just trying to make everyone feel welcome! But of course, it's a bit different with my regulars! After all, they come here often, like a second family. So I guess I'm a bit nicer because you really get to know and appreciate these people that stay to chat and tell stories."
"I see," they muttered. "Family, huh..."
After that, you suddenly were swamped with sudden orders, excusing yourself to fulfill them, chatting and laughing with even the people that were just passing by. Maybe you really were just nice? Perhaps this new environment had made you more relaxed and gentle than the harsh world you lived in, and it was showing? But their question was shoved into the back of your mind as you kept fulfilling orders and earning your keep.
Once the rush was over, you returned to your regular, only to find their seat empty. Strange, you thought. You could have sworn that you felt their eyes on you the whole time you were away, but luckily, they didn't walk out on their tab, leaving the money and a folded-up napkin beneath their empty cup for you to find. You quickly stored away the bills, trusting your regular with knowing what they had to pay after so many weeks of the same order.
You were about to throw away their napkin when you noticed some red marks on them, unwrapping the paper to find a note scribbled in what you had to assume was ink.
"You're so beautiful when you laugh."
The surprise wore off quite fast, and you smiled, thinking nothing of it but that it was a nice compliment from your regular. Still, you ended up throwing the napkin away—not knowing if it was dirty, after all—taking the coffee cup and plate to the sink to clean them, overseeing the red tip on the fork that was too dark to be from the strawberry.
The rest of your day was uneventful, and by the time you were closing, you were tired and ready to tug in for the night, wrapping up your business at the shop quickly before walking home. You didn't have a chance to look at your phone since you glanced at the achievement notification, so you took it out, startled when you saw a dozen new messages.
Achievement unlocked: Happy new life - Be content with your new life

Achievement unlocked: Blooming infatuation - Have someone special fall in love with you
Achievement unlocked: Shop-Pro! - Close the shop twenty times after making a profit from your work
Achievement unlocked: Tired - Hard workers deserve to relax
You blinked a few times, surprised by what you were reading and a little weirded out by some of these achievements. They gave you some extra coins in your shop till and reputation with the townspeople, so you usually didn't mind them. But to say some of their descriptions were weird was an understatement. You couldn't even remember someone getting hurt at your workplace that day.
By the time you reached your apartment, you decided to ignore the strange notifications and just let the day come to an end with a hot bath and your favorite show. But you were startled when your phone suddenly began ringing loudly, even though you had turned off the sound back at the coffee shop after the first notification. The first messages that appeared before you were more achievements, and you stopped turning the key in your door as you read them.
Achievement unlocked: Follower - Have someone special follow you home
Achievement unlocked: Welcome home! - Arrive at home, not alone
Achievement unlocked: Wherever you go, I'll be watching you - Ɨ ΔΜ ΔŁŴΔ¥Ş ŴΔŦĆĦƗŇǤ ¥ØỮ
Lifting your head, you looked around you, glancing over your shoulder and into the courtyard below. No one was out; everyone was at home eating dinner and occupied with their lives. Confused, you swiped all the notifications away before another pop-up appeared.
ALERT! You're about to enter X's route. Do you want to continue?
> Yes > No
Panicked at this point, you pressed "No," but nothing happened. You kept tapping it repeatedly, not understanding what was happening with your phone. But nothing changed, the notification staying in place. The sound of something breaking inside your apartment tore your focus away from your phone, startling you.
You must have finally managed to close it, the pop-up disappearing just as you unlocked the door to your apartment, still having held on to the key when you were surprised by the sound. Darkness and silence greeted you from inside, everything seemingly normal.
Majorly confused, you shook your head, slowly entering the hallway leading inside. "Hello?" you called out, reaching for the light switch. The light flickered on, and... there was no one. Holding your breath, no sound reached your ears, and you groaned, realizing you got freaked out about... nothing.
This wasn't some kind of horror game, and the story never had a murder-solving subplot. True, the ratings for it were kind of strange—it being rated as 18+ on the website—but seriously, what should happen in a cozy little city like the one the game played in? You didn't even think they had a police station here.
Pushing off your shoes as you shrugged off the weird feeling from before, you walked up the hallway to your living room, turning on the light before coming to an abrupt halt. There were broken pieces of glass underneath your living room window, but what really freaked you out came into view only when you lifted your head. You could look into the mirror of your cabinet door from your position, red marker dripping from it as if someone had hastily scribbled on it just seconds ago. You weren't sure it was a pen anymore, judging by its deep red color and the fluidity of it.
"𝘪 𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘥 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘭𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘮𝘦 𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘻𝘺"
Your phone pinged.
Achievement unlocked:

Ruler of the 8th through the houses
8th house ruler through the houses, aka: the hidden thread in your chart that reveals your relationship to power, transformation, death/rebirth, intimacy, shadow, sex, money, and healing. This house does not play. It’s where the real sh*t happens behind closed doors — emotionally, spiritually, sexually, financially. When we look at where the ruler of your 8th house is placed, we see where and how you face your edge.
8th House Ruler in the 1st House
You are the transformation.
Death-rebirth is part of your identity. You carry an aura of intensity, and people project deep, powerful energy onto you. You’re the kind of person who’s lived 9 lives already. Heals through: Self-awareness, embodiment, personal power. Shadow: Taking on others’ pain as identity. “My presence alone shifts energy.”
8th House Ruler in the 2nd House
You turn pain into value.
Money and self-worth are tied to your transformation journey. You may receive support or inheritance from others — but your challenge is learning to stand firm in your own power. Heals through: Grounding, self-trust, embodiment. Shadow: Over-reliance on others for security. “What I’ve survived is my currency.”
8th House Ruler in the 3rd House
Your words carry weight.
Your mind is deep, and communication is a transformative force. You may talk or write about taboo topics, secrets, or emotional depths. Nothing about you is surface-level. Heals through: Honest conversations, storytelling, expression. Shadow: Mental obsession, spiraling thoughts. “My voice is my shadow work.”
8th House Ruler in the 4th House
Your roots hold your transformation.
Family, ancestry, or your inner emotional life is where your shadow work lives. You may inherit trauma, gifts, or secrets. You need safety + solitude to process. Heals through: Inner child work, home, ancestral healing. Shadow: Clinging to emotional patterns. “My bloodline speaks through me.”
8th House Ruler in the 5th House
Your power is in your creativity.
You transform through passion, art, love, and even heartbreak. Sexual energy is sacred here — you alchemize pain into self-expression. Love can be dramatic, karmic, intense. Heals through: Creation, romantic catharsis, pleasure. Shadow: Addicted to intensity in love. “I turn heartbreak into masterpieces.”
8th House Ruler in the 6th House
You heal through service.
Your work or health journey is tied to deep transformation. You may work in healing, therapy, or behind-the-scenes spaces. Your shadow shows up in your routine, stress, and body. Heals through: Daily ritual, helping others, somatics. Shadow: Self-sacrifice, burnout, martyrdom. “My pain becomes purpose.”
8th House Ruler in the 7th House
You transform through relationships.
Love is your mirror — and sometimes your battleground. Partnerships trigger your deepest wounds and your biggest breakthroughs. Intimacy is your initiation. Heals through: Deep connection, forgiveness, sacred sexuality. Shadow: Power struggles, fear of abandonment. “Love strips me down to rebuild me.”
8th House Ruler in the 8th House
You’re built for the underworld.
You naturally swim in deep waters — psychology, shadow work, the occult, death, sex, healing. You may be drawn to spiritual or energetic work. Your power is undeniable. Heals through: Embracing intensity + owning power. Shadow: Addiction to chaos or emotional extremes. “I’m not afraid of the dark — I am the dark.”

Transformation comes through truth.
Your beliefs, travels, or spiritual studies catalyze your rebirths. You seek answers to life’s mysteries — and may be a seeker, guide, or philosopher of the taboo. Heals through: Wisdom, travel, expansion. Shadow: Escaping pain through idealism. “I turned my wounds into worldviews.”
8th House Ruler in the 10th House
You alchemize through ambition.
Your career may involve transformation, crisis work, or helping others heal. You could become known for your resilience. Power plays or hidden battles might shape your path. Heals through: Leadership, visibility, long-term goals. Shadow: Authority issues, overworking to avoid pain. “I built an empire from the ashes.”

You bring depth to the collective.
Friendships, social change, or online spaces may be the ground for shadow work. You’re meant to help your community evolve — even if that means stirring the pot. Heals through: Advocacy, networks, innovation. Shadow: Fear of rejection or hiding in groups. “My vision is radical and real.”
8th House Ruler in the 12th House
Your transformation is sacred + hidden.
You move through karmic, spiritual, or ancestral healing. Alone time is crucial. You may be deeply psychic, and drawn to mysticism, dreamwork, or the subconscious. Heals through: Solitude, surrender, spiritual practices. Shadow: Escapism, secret pain, past-life trauma. “I dissolve to be reborn.”

Creator Spotlight: @mimimar
Hi! I’m Michelle (Mimimar), an illustrator born and raised in Venezuela, currently based in Italy. I enjoy making colorful illustrations that reflect the things I love: fairy tales, fantasy, tenderness and queer (especially sapphic) stories. Occasionally, I also make paper dolls, comics and animatics. I have a lot of interest in book illustration and I’m currently developing my own stories that I hope to share as an author-illustrator someday!
Check out our interview with Michelle below!
Did you originally have a background in art? If not, how did you start?
I always enjoyed drawing when I was a kid, but it only became a hobby that I did almost every day when I was around 11. At first I only used traditional mediums, but I decided to make a serious effort to learn how to draw digitally when I was 15, and once I got the hang of it I never stopped!
I didn’t go to art school so all of my learning was done through studying the tutorials and resources that other artists generously share on the internet and lots of practice / trial and error.
How do you want to evolve as a creator?
I want to do many things but what I want to do the most right now is work on books! I want to make art for other authors’ stories and also my own stories as an author-illustrator. I want to grow as a storyteller and create art and stories that will really resonate with people emotionally. I’m always striving to improve my skills as well.
I also really love dolls, so working on doll box art or as a doll designer is something I would love to do someday. I actually have been designing paper dolls on my Patreon for the past few months, it’s been a fun project that is still ongoing right now!
What is one habit you find yourself doing a lot as an artist?
Probably using a lot of purple! It’s my favorite color so I find myself using it a lot. If I can find a way to sneak a little bit of purple into an illustration or a character design then I will.
Congratulations on finishing your Ivy Comic! Did the outcome turn out like how you expected or were there some unexpected bumps along the way?
Thank you! It’s a project that I worked on very slowly in between other art because I wanted to really take my time with every spread and make each of them a fully detailed illustration. I thumbnailed the full comic before starting but I kept changing the sketch for the final spread until the very end! Overall I’m really proud of the end result. I sprinkled a lot of hidden details in every page that I hope some of the readers will notice. For example: the meanings of the flowers in each page represent what the characters are feeling in that moment, and the colors of their wardrobe become gradually lighter as the story progresses to represent their emotions, as well as the changing of seasons.
We’ve noticed that you have created some amazing cover art for TGCF. Is there another series you would like to do something similar with?
That was another passion project that took some time to complete. Initially, I didn’t intend for them to be specifically covers, it was just a series of illustrations based on the 5 books/main arcs of TGCF. But since they were well-received and I had people telling me they wish they could use them as covers for their books, I decided to rework them into dust jackets for the english translation of TGCF!
I haven’t thought of any other specific series but I love doing cover art so maybe I’ll do something similar again in the future!
What’s your favorite part of your style? Why?
I’ve heard from other people that there’s a delicate quality to my art, this is something that I like a lot! I like pretty things, fairytales and vibrant colors. I think all of these things probably reflect in the art I make as well.
If there is one thing you want your audience to remember about your work, what would it be?
I hope that they remember how it made them feel. Feelings and colors are the two things I give priority to in my work. Most of the time I like depicting tenderness, softness and emotional intimacy. If that could reach the viewer and stay with them it would make me very happy.
I make a lot of art with queer (mainly sapphic) themes because they’re the kind of stories I personally like and want to see more of, so whenever people tell me that my art has helped them in their journey to discover and accept themselves, or that they see themselves and their partner in my art, it is always extremely meaningful to me. When art that I made to give myself comfort can provide comfort for others, no matter how small, it reminds me once again that despite any hardships art is genuinely worth pursuing.
Who on Tumblr inspires you and why?
So many artists! To name a few:  I love @sakizo’s amazing eye for fashion and detail,  @paneeps’ gorgeous style and striking colors,  the sweetness of @bevsi’s art,  @vickisigh’s pretty colors and concepts,  @idledee’s warm and heartfelt art,  @littlestpersimmon’s dreamy wonderful art,  and @loish has been an inspiration for as long as I can remember.
Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing, Michelle! Be sure to check out their Tumblr blog over at @mimimar.
