ppl saying the caitvi sex scene was rushed, came out of nowhere, and can’t understand why Vi went straight to fucking cait after what just happened with jinx is odd to me.
Vi blames herself for the problems in her life consistently, and violently. she hates herself for how things have turned out.
when cait walks into the cell, Vi is blaming herself out loud for “making mistakes and loosing everyone”. when cait tells Vi that she let her steal the keys to jinx’s cell on purpose, it’s straight up confirmation that what Vi thinks to be true, is wrong.
she hasn’t lost everyone, cait hasn’t changed beyond repair. It started in ep 6, when cait betrayed ambessa to help Vi and her family. then this moment in ep 8 showed Vi that cait loves and trusts her enough to finally put aside her hatred for jinx, and support Vi in whatever choices she makes.
idk how long the time skip was but judging by Vi’s hair it was probably somewhere between 6 months and a year. imagine thinking of the girl you love everyday, thinking she was lost to anger and hatred, and then seeing her again and slowly realising she isn’t gone.
Vi is a physical person, we see that all throughout the show. Whether she’s punching people or walls, throwing things, screaming, she lets her emotions out through physical motion. in emotional moments with cait, she’s always touching her. when she pushes her up against the wall in the brothel, when she’s stroking her face or her hands during intimate conversations.
so Vi responded to the confirmation and the surge of emotions it caused with kissing cait, and then doing the most physically intimate thing possible with her. cait showed Vi she was willing to fight for her, and Vi dropped straight to her knees for cait. because that’s the kind of person Vi is.
they weren’t fucking they were making LOVE 💔
sure it’s not exactly healthy behaviour, but it’s not out of character for Vi to act that way. look at how she acted with jinx in that very cell 5 minutes earlier. when she realised her sister wasn’t gone, she stopped “hating” her, instantly jumping right back into the older sister role.
and i don’t think Vi forgave it all right there, the last scene shows her and cait clearly still have some issues - Vi calling herself the dirt under caits nails is a clear indicator of how cait made Vi feel with her actions.
but the sex scene is totally in character for Vi, i don’t think it was bad writing, it’s just tragic.
i do agree, in the cell is crazy, Vi deserves better, she always has. but they’re in the middle of a war, and it was an emotionally charged scene. they’re not gonna pause and go all the way up to a bedroom to fuck when troops are on their way to kill everyone.
so i don’t think it was rushed, or out of nowhere. Vi deserves better, i’m not defending cait, but i feel like some ppl don’t get it 💔

Thanks for your response to that other anon about Tommy; you’re totally right. I also was intrigued, even liked him and Buck after their first kiss. But his closet comment and behavior on their first date, like he didn’t care that Buck has LITERALLY just figured out his bisexuality and that’s A LOT to process, his dismissive attitude towards Buck’s ideas and feelings (the bachelor party henley, the “enjoy it while it lasts” at the medal ceremony)….and then add in the way some fans have gone 0 to 100 on them so quickly, even calling them endgame, and likely at least in part JUST because it’s two men…it’s become such a turn off. I was neutral, even wanted to like them at first, but now am counting the days until it ends. And it’s not because I’m a BoB or would dislike any Buck LI that isn’t Eddie. And I don’t agree with anyone getting HATE (we can sideeye and judge people’s actions ($cameos$) But I think seeing Buck in a canon male/male relationship has caused some people to lose their damn minds. Ship and let ship! Stay in your sandbox, we’ll stay in ours!
LOL I am so removed from all the crowing bummies that I have to ask wth is BoB?
I actually went to look it up and found some interesting options, I am going with this one:
"Bob" is a generic and common name, and using it can be a way of avoiding formalities or creating a relaxed and approachable atmosphere
If you have the other meaning go ahead and tell me, like bummies I understand what benefits me in the moment😂
I kinda wish ppl will look up the meaning of "comphet" (I actually looked it up) that Ryan keeps bringing up in his interviews - that way ppl can stop saying crap things about him being the one to derail Eddie-T because he was supposedly against it. - Which is bullshit, Tim repeatedly said it was because the Natalia actress couldn't come back and M actress could. - Also, Originally T was supposed to be Lucy, she just couldn't come back so they took Lou in a pinch, so Obviously the endgame sure as shit wasn't the pilot.
And you're right, T's attitude was condescending at best, I was talking about it with a mutual the other day, and said that if they really had an interest to build BT properly, also by the time they came up with BT they knew they were being renewed for S8, they could have slowed into this. Actually make Buck's coming out story, a coming out story, not "So first date was a bust, how bout you come to my sister's wedding?" like who does that?
They could have started as friends with Lou being a gay guru, they could have had private dates until Buck was actually out to everyone and ready to be seen in public.
There could have been feelings involved that developed over time.
I gave the example of Tim-Ashley vs Nolan-Bailey from The Rookie, while Ashley was fairly kept to the background (btw she got more screen time than T, just saying) while Bailey was constantly and still being weaved into the story, intricated into Nolan's life, because he was meant to end up with her.
What ppl, who seem to have never watched good tv in their lives, don't seem to understand is that there is a way to write a story, and 911 not only screwed up spectacularly with Buck and Eddie's storylines, but they managed to make it clear from the get go that any LI to come along would be written just bad enough for it to be clear that they are not lasting.
Even furious, Eddie never walked away from Buck. Even when Buck was an asshole in 2x01, Eddie stood his ground and insisted they sort it through making it clear that they are on the same side, that he cares about him and wanting to be his friend. - His partner, a team.
Tommy, like all his predecessors, walked away as soon as something didn't fit his little comfort zone. Tommy walked away on that first date, he didn't contact Buck after that, Buck had to make contact and apologize for not being comfortable on his first date with a guy, like how messed up is that?
And Tommy's little acid retort in front of Eddie in the restaurant before that? From the side it's hilarious for someone who was never in that position. It was mean and uncalled for, but not exactly a surprise because T was never much of am understanding person, he was pretty much an ass from the get go in S2, only difference now is that he is out of the closet.
How did Athena put it when Michael first brought his new bf home after they got divorced? "If Michael had cheated on me with a woman, no one would have expected me to slap on a fake smile and welcome her into my home."
And that is exactly what the GA expects us to do, so what if Buck injured Eddie for attention? He's bi now.
So what if T was an ass and pretty much dismissive towards Buck and talks to him often in a bored way like one talks to a child? He's gay now.
A certain sexual preference does not excuse bad behavior. A person's behavior is supposed to be taken at face value, and not excused just because that person is now seeing someone who happens to be of the same gender.
Crappy behavior is just that - crappy behavior - equal accountability and all that.
I actually liked Taylor for Buck in S2, I think Lucy could have been perfect for him in S5, but the writers made sure to smear their characters in the eyes of the GA from the beginning, thus ending up with another failed relationship, while Buck's relationship with Eddie thrives from one episode to another for the last 7 seasons. One has to wonder about that even if they don't ship buddie.
Same pattern here with T. I was prepared to like him with Buck, I was prepared to see Buck making his way out of the closet with someone who would make him feel safe to do it, not kiss him unprepared under the pretense of coming originally on Eddie's behalf. Not that crap show that was that restaurant date. Not Buck apologizing after feeling insecure and exposed in public for the first time out of the closet and so many other things. - I'm getting the same vibes as Taylor looking through her phone in disinterest in 4x11 as Buck recites some google fact.
And you're right, the fans going from 0-200 after one kiss was just ridiculous, like chill people have you never seen two men kiss before?
I have, on screen and in RL, I grew up with lovely lgbtq+ friends from childhood, it's not all that. When my gay best friend dated someone who didn't treat him right, I told him to get rid of him. When my cousin's gf treated her like property and like she owes her something I urged her to find a better more nurturing person to be happy with.
Two men kissing is not endgame making, hell, from experience two men having sex (hot as it is) is not endgame making.
Love, passion, trust, security, fun, friends gatherings where they're cute and gross, can be made into a healthy endgame making relationship.
Buck and Tommy have physical attraction, they make for a steamy picture but nothing else.
And Lou, I am just... I don't know, I would have preferred not to find out the things he's done as cast of 911, I am just so disappointed.
I loved Lou, now it's just meh. Like he's trying to make as much money as he can before he finishes his way in the show is all kinds of wrong. Also very misleading to the ppl who are hanging on his every word. (And I don't think Oliver likes it either, he is pointedly ignoring any scene with T, not promoting anything that doesn't involve Eddie and Christopher or Buck's own development).
Even Ryan didn't know he was going to get shot until he got the 4x13 script, he was sure he was being killed off until he talked to whoever was showrunner at the time lol.
So Lou can't know he just talks out of his ass and make himself look bad in the process.
And I agree, ppl should be free to ship whoever they desire, but they are not entitled to force their desires upon others, I'm talking about both sides of the ships not just one. (Although I gotta say I've never got hate asks until a certain ship popped up this season. A lot of hateful - now blocked anons - that I refused to give stage to.)
These toxic battles are useless and made this season worse than it's writing.
All that's left is kick back and hope this season's last episode can salvage the poor and repetitive storylines we got this season, - I mean even Henren and Bathena got a replay of S4.
And don't even get me started of the fart shaped storyline Eddie got after switching last minute.
I'm tired lol
didn't mean for this to become this long monster, If you made it this far thank you, sending LOTS of love. ❤️

There is a new post going around about you and saying you’re supposedly shipping with an incestuous Danganronpa character. This is from another Anti. I’m confused as to why you keep getting labeled like this. I know nothing about your FO but I still know he was abused. I’m sorry people on here are stupid.
Tumblr media
are you shitting me? he's literally a victim of abuse. I seriously have to wonder how these ppl treat irl victims of abuse who "fall in love" with their abuser as a way to cope with the trauma. there's a reason why I love him so much, and that's because I relate to him. I won't get into specifics but I was sexually abused and convinced myself I was in love with my abuser to cope with the trauma of, you know... being abused.
anyone in the danganronpa fandom can tell you he was a victim. anyone who played the game can tell you that. if you read any of his dialogue when he talks about his sister, you can tell he was effectively brainwashed by her manipulation. I mean, you tell me, when youre growing up and your very ill older sister is telling you you have to take the place of a boyfriend for her because shes too physically sick to form relationships with people other than her family, would you say that's consensual?
just because he's not the perfect victim doesn't mean he isn't one at all. not every victim of abuse will hate their abuser. not every victim will even acknowledge they were abused.
and to top it off, she died before he could ever grasp the totality of her actions. he was never given the chance to come to terms with that. there isn't a lot that we know about his parents, but we can assume he was neglected for the abuse to go on as long as it did. clearly no one intervened before her death.
you can send this to that person if you want, really I don't care because no one is going to stop me from shipping with him. shockingly enough, he didn't do anything wrong. tell me you only see victims of abuse as victims when they fit your definition of what a abuse survivor is without telling me that. oh well, my 500 followers seem to not gaf and understand he was abused, as well as the 100+ people in my discord server that joined via my account.

how your backyard hurricane go, the houston area? pretty good it doesn't seem
to be clear other than losing everything in my fridge and developing some mold around the windowframes IM personally fine and so are the girls and so is the lair. we lost power sunday afternoon and got it back friday morning (upside down smiley emoji x16)
listening
THREE CANONICALLY BISEXUAL CLUB BANGERS!!! also, trying out a new thing with spotify and youtube videos for songs bc my readership is about 70/30 and i want to streamline the process of actually listening to new music for ppl. it must be really annoying this week but that's bc there's three songs. sorry. it will rarely be this long
anyway.
ANXIETY by Lilyisthatyou is new to me, off the spotify autogenerated dance playlist. a chiller groove in the spelling-things-out genre of dance music. VERY flashy-lights music vid fyi
Why do I feel so alone? Does it show That I'm dancing to fill the void with pretty girls and pretty boys?
youtube
i know about kesha's joyride bc i happen to be an alive queer woman. im SO happy kesha is also alive and making music more regularly. this one is canonically bisexual bc kesha is bisexual. also a really flashy-lights lyric video. the most classically recession-pop/early KESHA sound of all three tuesdaysongs this week. im always fascinated when an accordion shows up.
Rev my engine ’til you make it purr Keep it kinky, but I come first Beep-beep, bitch, I'm outside Get in, loser, for the joyride
youtube
thank u new releases spotify playlist. also canonically bisexual bc the singer is, also an early KESHA feel but she is a metal artist first and foremost. very fun to headbang to at a stop light. i don't totally Love how it's an emasculating song but given how dudes in the metal scene generally are? i think she should make it more emasculating actually
Take you down a peg (And peg and peg and peg) If you're a macho man then beg (And beg and beg and beg) Bend you over the bed (The bed the bed the bed) It's time to take you down a peg (And peg and peg and peg)

fun fact i still haven't seen this movie. i got this from the library the day before the hurricane proper and it gave me a really lovely two hours of not thinking about the active hurricane the day after. enormous format photographs! full-length shots of every look! ithe little personal notes from each designer were so fun to read, and i think this genuinely healed my heart a little. everyone was so excited to go into detail about what choices they made and what inspired them, and even though i would have loved more specific construction details, specific fiber types, and full-length shots of the Back of every look, i recognize i am a freak.

watching
watched a truly bonkers assortment of films at my bestie's house this week. her husband is big into godzilla and i sat down not really paying attention or planning to pay attention to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024, dir. Wingard) but found myself actually paying attention. i unfortunately was a character i hate, Person Who Stops The Movie Halfway Through To Demand A Recap. loved these guys, whatever the fuck they were
Tumblr media
the most fun thing about this movie is that it is not a silent film but it acts like one. there are long, long stretches of movie without dialogue bc all the political action is happening between a bunch of giant monkeys. this is going to sound like im damning it with faint praise but they really thought carefully about directorial and artistic choices here! there was a vision and they executed it! it's fun to look at and not just because there's a big monkey in most of the shots!

got a look at characters for the new fire-themed land coming up this fall. ppl are understandably big mad that the land is based on Ring of Fire cultures and everyone is paper-white. i think it is correct to be mad and ask them to do better, and they have tweaked designs before release before, however, i don't think this will bring about a sea change in gacha games.
i am rolling along clearing out map markers and achievement hunting and my GOD are there a lot of time-gated achievements in inazuma (electricity-themed legally-not-japan). so so so many of them i originally got halfway through or did 1/5 and then wandered off bc i didn't realize there was a quest or achievement locked behind doing something for three or five days in a row. i now have a post-it on the corner of my monitor with nine different things i have to keep checking in on this week. please someone give me a REAL JOB!!!!!!

making
cross stitch progress. this was the only thing i did last week aside from shake like a chihuahua and sleep. very slow going! may have to ship the package off to my brother with an IOU bc it is already stressfully late.
Tumblr media
made the bean influencer soup (creamy miso coconut butter beans). i made a batch before the hurricane last week so most of my notes are from then. the grocery did not have canned butter beans so i made the same thing (big lima beans) from dry. i have not made beans from dry since i was very small. these beans were so large, so pale, so aggressive.
changes: i was able to find a little carton of straight coconut cream at the grocery but they were out of miso paste. i did have miso soup mix and plopped that in. i also used frozen spinch bc it’s cheaper and i felt better about it than the somewhat questionable fresh spinch on offer. also used two onions instead of one and a hearty dollop of minced jarred garlic bc who do u think i even fucking am. i would have loved to use fresh dill, bc i did plant some and it was growing very well, but the caterpillars were very intense and ate almost everything on my balcony.
going in the rotation! im making it AGAIN as im typing up this post! pretty cheap, very tasty, i don't regularly keep butter beans or coconut cream in my pantry but that can change!

YESSS I totally agree with ur artashi take, ppl that say she hates him or he trapped her into marriage and kids….. like WHAT. For me I think she hates him bc despite everything she loves him. He’s the one living her dream and she has to take a backseat to his success even though she is the reason he is so successful, and when he gives up and wants to retire, her plan b of living vicariously through his career is dead and buried, and yet it’s the first time in the film since her injury that she shows her pain and misery, like the tenderness and emotion in that scene of them on the bed I am such a believer that she loves him and that’s why it hurts so much to hate him
This is so unsolicited so feel free to ignore but I saw your post about how complex their relationship is and I’m an artashi defender for life ‼️
Say it louder for the people in the back!!!
It pains me that people see Tashi as this emotionally abusive wife who has babytrapped her sweetheart of a husband. Like that's a grown ass man, responsible for his own decisions, and I think he loves and knows Tashi enough to be understanding of her actions. They've been together for around ten years, so I'm sure that despite all this tension, their marriage is a loving one.
No character is flawless but Tashi hating her husband also doesn't necessarily make her a bad person. She's someone who's dreams have evaporated within a moment and the person who got to live through them was her husband. And as you said, when Art says he wishes to retire, the only thing she can do is threaten with the end of their marriage, because that's the only thing Art cares about more than tennis. I don't wanna be the kind of an "Art loves Tashi but Tashi loves tennis" but I believe that even if these were important for all of them, for Art it was marriage > tennis, and for Tashi it was tennis > marriage. But that doesn't mean the less prioritized one should be neglected in any way. You can love many things at once just as you can love and hate one thing at once.

I cannot believe I'm reading with my own two eyes that some ppl are saying that Sylvie's arc is solved and Marvel should forget about her and instead, complete and explore more Mobius character, moving forward.
I mean, I totally understand that they want to see their fave again, I get it, of course!
(And before saying anything else, I'm not attacking Mobius here, like they feel the need to do constantly to Sylvie, I'm just describing what happened in the show.)
But please, let's be realistic! He's a retired TVA agent, who admitted not being a man of action and she's a goddess whose potential was wasted in season 2!
Mobius ends retired and saying he would stay around and see what they were protecting. Sylvie literally ends with 🤷.
How is Silvie's arc solved??
They don't have to like Sylvie but please, let's not pretend it's bc she is a poorly written character, like some of them like to justify it, and not bc she's in the middle of a ship. Because, guess what: SHE WAS a poorly written character in SEASON 2 and they all are still here hating her, wishing Loki had killed her and for Marvel to never bring her back.
Sylvie had an uncertain ending and I'll take it, if Marvel have plans with her in future projects, where she can really have her arc completed by writers that really cares for her character. And reunite her with Loki, since we're here asking, right? 😁
(if you got here, thanks for reading!)

Me, a Chinese Canadian ranking the EA members of the losh in no particular order
disclaimer: i like to assess characters based on potential in order to cope with the shit that occurs in canon. This means, this entire thing is mostly how i would write them rather then a critique on how they are written in canon.
1. harmonia li: lol harmonia li seems like those rich, hard core chinese classical members of the benevolent chinese society while also having a love-hate relationship the local diasporic china town for being 'unclean' and unauthentic enough. What i'm trying to say, is harmonia li is a v textbook of what a chinese person is supposed to be, and uhhhh distant in terms of relatability... Paul levitz probs did some shallow research regarding her 'previously studying w/ confucian,' (which I hc she had to cross dress for that shit, knowing that confucian is sexist af). I think she does have potential as an immortal, and as a time traveller, to be a random easter egg. I would also like her to be a potential avenue to explore 31st century china. Like, china is old af. Another millenium to us, is nothing.
2. dragon mage: uhhh he is annoying im sorry... the western perception of chinese dragons , much less designs of chinese dragon themed characters, was/still is so crass and ugly. That being said, I do want more magical systems based upon traditional chinese knowledge, and I think harmonia li and dragon mage would be great for that. do we get that tho? no. Are we going to get that any time soon? probably not.
3. threeboot shrinking violet: i have such mixed feelings about shrinking violet? like fuck yea her opening scene is so fucking funny and badass, and the concept of her being a team meme and her own teammates not really knowing if she's even real, is hilarious, but like... the concept of an asian girl who can shrink is not very ground breaking and by not v groundbreaking i mean... what is up with white ppl's fetish of asian girls having shrinking powers and being small? like do yall not like us taking up space? does it make you uncomfortable? Also, the whole worldbuilding aspect, of her (asian-coded) people worshipping brainiac 5, a white coded character, because he introduced them to uhhhhh taking up less space... how do i say this? racially charged? is it racially charged? am i overanalyzing this? probably. do i care that im overanalyzing this? no. that being said, on the 0.000000000000000001% chance threeboot!shrinking violet makes a comeback, i would totally want an pulpy action stand alone issue ft her exploring the microscopic world all by herself.
4. bendis boot cosmic boy: finally some fucking food... oh wait did the monkey paw just move? damnit. look, i get that it's a new reboot, hence new stuff, but i think we can all agree that bendis did not do much research, much less, put in much thought, about what makes cosmic boy cosmic boy. the fact that he's a wrestler of metal animals instead of a prodigy at magnoball kinda says a lot about how bendis's understanding of the entire losh was super shallow. ie) bendisboot cosmic boy being a stand-alone wrestler and being used to the spotlight instead of a prodigy team player and how that affects his leadership skills, and potential to recognize his teammates skills and delegate their weaknesses while excelling individually... im screaming... i'm mourning. Where are my representation for asian team athletes? we exist you know?
5. karate kid: Ok. I read karate kid's first appearence by jim shooter, and the fact that the entire legion suspected him of being the spy/traitor despite the fact that he is just a prodigy at martial arts, and thus will have some physical limitations in committing the crimes that occurred making him highly unlikely to be the spy, just recks of microagression to me. i'm sorry i had to get that off my chest. I do think it's v important for karate kid to be an interracial child, bc i do think we need more mixed race characters esp for stories set in the 31st century... there does have the potential for karate kid to have nuance, like for example, there could be an arc where he was raised by his white mother, while estranged from his asian father, and his only connection to his culture was through martial arts. IDK i just feel like karate kid's heritage has gone unaddressed despite having a lot of potential. Hell, fricking chameleon boy has more arcs addressing his durla side, then karate kid's mix heritage. (if you're mixed asian btw, feel free to chime in, and talk about anything missed regarding karate kid, bc i feel like mixed asian ppl's voices are often lost and go unspoken).
6. golden lantern: I was told he was supposed to be filipino-coded or something? idk i'm still a little confused about his powers tbh, but i am all for a asian character who's power is being happy while not being treated like luk duk dong aka a racist joke. The fact that he's blind makes him more interesting to me, because afaik, being a lantern character is v visual based, and i would like some rep in the future about how the 31st treats ppl who possess different senses.
7. reboot!nightwind: you should have been a hijabi girlie... like i do like how you looked like a EA girl, but you should have kept your hijab /hj (she doesn't actually don a hijab in canon, but she may as well i mean have you seen her previous designs?)
8. dragonwing: aside from the whole, wow western designs of chinese dragon themed characters suck, why is she so pale? she looks like 31st century ronald McDonald the clown cause she's so pale w/her red hair.. i will not lie tho, her clothes are p cool. I'm just a little confused about her powers tho? she's got like??? super spit??? what? good for her ig? idk man... why not just call her spitfire at this point?
9. chemical kid: i could not care less about this character. you cannot make me care about him.
conclusion: if you're a quantity vs quality person, you could probs call me spoiled bc of the number of chinese members of the losh, compared to every other EA nation. But quality of the chinese characters is... not good. anyways, if you're non-asian and you have questions about whatever, feel free to ask. if you are asian, and you have different opinions then me, that's expected, we aren't a monolith contrary to what the west believes; feel free to vocalize your opinions here too.

some out of order thoughts about s3 of Young Royals so far:
Everybody in this show needs a THINK chart lesson and therapy!
totally checks out that Marcus would comment on their relationship to journalists.....
Stella and Rosh would've been cute but also I think Rosh would've found her insufferable. I was worried that it was gonna turn into a whole thing where Fredrika would find out Stella was into her and like call her disgusting or something and /truly/ I could not handle that.
Not that I want August to be next in line but Wille trying to balance being prince and being with Simon is making him AND me crazy.
Speaking of August..... I actually feel better about him this season. his ed storyline is quite interesting and it makes sense for his character. I was truly gobsmacked when Simon very frankly called him out and then nobody said anything. He has such sad eyes and hates himself so much already it makes it hard to wanna dogpile on him lol
The b plot about the racism and ostracism Felice faces should've happened in season 2 to be fleshed out more. I understand that its a part of the issues coming out about the initiations but its unfortunate that she won't get more screen time for it.
So many times in this season you are reminded that you are watching a show about rich teenagers at an elite boarding school and so they're going to be socially unconscious and tone-deaf to everyone besides their own, which is annoying but it is just a show.
Vincent being so butthurt about the restrictions was so unserious he was so annoying.
Wille was getting on my nerves a bit. His actions are in line with his character but its frustrating when things would be like 90% better if he like chilled for a sec. Its obviously more complicated than that cos he hasn't had even a moment to process anything that's happened in this show ever.
Simon being so sad while deleting his Instagram was kinda funny cos like he could've archived everything or made his profile private, blocked ppl. e.t.c but I get it, he enjoyed sharing his music and that's how he deals with things, so that outlet being cut off is hard.
I swear half of the runtime is people wordlessly staring at each other.
Ideally Wille and Simon have a happy ending, and it would make more sense for that to happen over another season but since this is the last I don't necessarily see things being wrapped up in a satisfying way. like yeah is it not really realistic for everything to be 100% rainbows and sunshine but for the sake of my happiness I need a hopeful resolution. Whether that's Wille realizing he could never emotionally handle the crown and choosing to prioritize his relationship with Simon, or choosing the crown and letting Simon go. He could also end up with neither! if he decided to dedicate himself to the crown he would sink further into depression and anger over not being able to be with Simon and if he chose to be with Simon he would still have the same baggage and I think some resentment. It would be slay if he could have both the crown and Simon but I think what the story has been telling us so far is that that is not possible. OR maybe that it is possible, with the power of love, which could result in a copout happy ending or a more realistic but hopeful ending!

anyway i'm done focusing on other ppl and to talk about things i loved in the live action: man do i really hate ozai but love it at the same time, he's clearly convinced he's doing everything for the good of his kids but he isn't, he's pitting his kids against each other, he's very emotionally abusive and i cannot wait to see him get put in his place, i also hope they might change azula's fate in this bc i always disliked how she was treated as evil from like age 6? but i'm also going to leave judgement on that bc idk what changes they might do, but i am totally here for zuko+azula redemption if it's possible
YES! This iteration of the royal family is so so great. Lots of stuff to sink your teeth into and hopefully let people see their own experience played out and understood in a respectful and cathartic way. I can see the live-action being more nuanced with Azula's ending since they've done such a great job showing her beginning as more than just 'that psycho child'. I've really enjoyed looking at what the live-action has done because I've found it so rich of an understanding of these characters and what the reality of life in their position would be like.

i feel like we're gonna need a whole long individual post from you where you sum up your thoughts and feelings of c3ep51...it's a doozy and i'm interested to hear what you have to say!!😵‍💫
okay. okayyy. i just finished the ep so i haven't had a lot of time to think about it yet but. initial reaction is that i'm feeling a little hm. bad! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
obviously i haven't been on tungle so idk if a lot of other ppl feel this way or if i'm in the minority but. a lot of the latter parts felt bad. like in my soul, i mean. i was simply not having as good of a time as i wanted to be having.
cue complaining! apologies in advance:
it was like. liliana being obstinate, even with appreciably high rolls from imogen. ludinus giving this stupid-ass speech that went on for ages about how his life is sooo so so so hard. sky ship was a complete and utter bust. beau and caleb were a complete and utter bust. keyleth was obviously a complete and utter bust and then some. fcg was just stuck in a goddamn automaton for half the thing. destroying power cores maybe caused the key to malfunction, we'll find out, but they certainly didn't feel particularly influential in the final climax. nobody in the party even had an opportunity to do anything during initiative with the backpack having an AC of fucking 25 (when bh is only level 8!!!). laudna and ashton weren't even there, which obviously couldn't have been predicted or controlled, but it didn't feel good
i can appreciate and understand the idea of having it be very clear that this effort was actually futile from the beginning, because ludinus is unbelievably powerful and otohan beat their asses already and this was a plan centuries in the making and the manpower was there and the group is low-level etc etc. maybe this was always meant to happen, maybe the rest of the campaign as matt planned hinges on the majority of ludinus' plan succeeding, which is FINE. but i don't think i was alone in thinking that there was a non-negligible amount of hope going into this ep that something amazing might happen, esp with beau caleb and keyleth all explicitly involved. and it was all, very very unceremoniously, crushed piece by piece and all ludinus had to do was raise a fuckin pinky. you know what i mean? it just felt too easy for him. after watching bells hells painstakingly plan and desperately recruit help for two straight eps, i just sat here and watched ludinus shit and spit on all of that within seconds? felt bad. i think if there was more of an encounter, more of a fighting chance, then it wouldn't have made me as a viewer feel stupid for thinking something might actually fuckin work
i think it could be argued that the otohan fight in bassuras was similar in its feeling of futility, but like. it wasn't??? bc they were fighting her, they were doing damage, they were using up her spells and her legendary actions/resistances, and there was decision-making involved esp on laura's part. there was good rp and there was tension and risky choices, and the players were driving the ship. here it was like every single thing they threw at it didn't even make it in the door. the whole thing was over in one round
speaking of one round, i really actually quite unironically hated the 5 full minutes during which matt rolled 200 damage or whatever against keyleth. obviously because i love her, but also because it was the quintessential moment in the ep of making me sit here and go "what is the fucking point." one of the most powerful people on the entire planet, down before she can even think to do anything about it. and then vax shows up in this triumphant moment of divine victory just to get totally fucked. BY IMOGEN'S MOM, NO LESS. and NEITHER of them got a turn in initiative. bc ludinus is sooo smart and sooo powerful and sooo wise and sooo evil. vom
so anyway. i don't think i'm nearly as mad as this post makes me sound, but i am definitely having trouble finding parts about the latter half of this ep that i particularly enjoyed, at least in hindsight. like in the moment vax's appearance was Amazing. Legendary. but the fact that all it did was play into ludinus' hand made it feel lowkey like shit. so idk!
sorry this post turned into me saying mean things. i was trying to keep an open mind during my liveblog but i was quite frustrated at certain points lmao idk i'll keep thinking on it and you'll prob see posts from me if i change my mind about things

It bothers the fuck out of me when ppl take things that are in the text not supposed to be serious and make them serious. Taking the comedy action shots of chichi getting mad at her family and using it to make her an abuser creates an entirely different story with entirely different stakes. The innate misogyny of portraying Bulma and Chichi as "bad wives" has plagued the dragon ball fan base for years. These are both women who spent a good portion of their motherhood as single mothers and toriyama hasn't portrayed the results as anything but a set of happy, healthy children. There is a constant problem of portraying these women who are really just asking for the presence and understanding of their husbands as belligerent and delusional and making them active abusers only worsens that. Just literally everything about your post is so wrong and gross and your post about Gohan and Videl burning cigs on his arm is just so fucking utterly asinine that I can't tell if this is some sort of trauma you're coping through with these characters or some weird fetish thing but it's just kind of sad and I think you need to talk to someone.
... Oh dear. What did they drag you through on twitter to make you say things like this?
I know that the best response to messages like this is supposed to be minimal. But I think that that approach is done when it's understood that both parties aren't going to reach the other, or when an interaction is not desired. Since you've sent this off of anon, I don't want to give up right away; and since this is actually the first proper hate that I've received in my 8 years online, this is a special occasion for me!! I have a lot of thoughts about this and I am excited to share.
I will give you my complete response.
I am going to respond to this sentence by sentence, as is dballzposting custom when an ask warrants it.
First, my opening comment: I appreciate that you've written in full sentences, and have not belabored any one particular point. This will make responding easy and efficient. I do think you've interjected more pathos than maybe you intended, but for all of your insensitivity, you've been objective in that.
"It bothers the fuck out of me when ppl take things that are in the text not supposed to be serious and make them serious."
This first sentence is a problem. But I understand where you are coming from. Right off the bat I am going to ask for some patience and grace, because I am going to postulate about your perspective. I don't think that this is what you hate. What you are hating is A.) seeing renditions of an artwork that make no sense to, has no bearing on, and is totally removed from your understanding of the source material; and B.) these concepts specifically, Chichi beating her family and the Gohan & Videl post that you mention later in the ask.
This on its own is not a problem. You are free to dislike, or be bothered by, both. But that's not what you wrote out. I think that what you've done is try to articulate your distaste into a reason that sounds understandable and justifiable, which is a very common pitfall when it comes to understanding and comprehending feelings. Rationalization and I have a long history. I just want to point this out, that your word choice is not the most succinct and pertinent to your feelings. There are two reasons that I find this clarity important:
One: Because what you've described isn't actually hateable. To borrow your word choice from later, it is an asinine reason to hate anything. It goes against the very nature of art. This is literally what you wrote: "It bothers the fuck out of me when ppl take things that are in the text not supposed to be serious and make them serious." What? This is so simply backwards.
Consider: What is art? It's an expression, isn't it? Of passion, of beauty, of fear, confusion, wisdom, worry, admiration - it's the need to create, it's the need to share, it's - YADDA YADDA YADDA! I don't need to write it all out for you. YOU KNOW ART! Don't act like you don't. And you know that such expressions inspire pathways of expression in others. That is all there is to it! It is not anyone's role to preserve an author's intention, and only their explicit intention, when it comes to interacting with their art. It is anyone's prerogative to do so though, if their passion is a formalist perspective. I've been there. It's a wonderful and insightful thing to study art as the impressive work it is, and to only stick to what the author found relevant. Is that the ONLY way to interact with art? I don't need to answer that for you.
Two: Because feeling our feelings in earnest is one of the most important things that we as humans can/must do. When you control them by pinning them to explanations that you think are "justifiable," "valid," "rational," "understandable," or any number of head-prioritizing adjectives, then you are killing your emotional spirit.
I want to reiterate that this rationalizing of feelings into concrete beliefs is a very common pitfall in modern emotionally-stunted man, and I do not blame you at all for it. I just wanted to be clear about how I'm taking your message and how I'm understanding your emotional state, since it does deviate from what you wrote explicitly. I am not going to assume that what you wrote is actually what bothers you, because I will not do you that disservice. I am understanding that what is bothering you is the concepts that you've seen posted on my blog.
"Taking the comedy action shots of chichi getting mad at her family and using it to make her an abuser creates an entirely different story with entirely different stakes."
Yes! Now you are getting it.
"The innate misogyny of portraying Bulma and Chichi as 'bad wives' has plagued the dragon ball fan base for years."
This is where you lose me. Frankly this is a complete red herring fallacy and I am tempted to ignore it. But it is relevant to you, so I will engage.
A.) That has nothing to do with me or my posts. I didn't know about that, I don't see that, and I don't care about that.
B.) I never said that Chichi or Bulma were bad wives. You could not have known that, since you do not read dballzposting typically. I believe you are just pointing out a broader phenomenon to place your response into perspective. OK. It places your response in context, but unfortunately, it is completely out of context in a response to my posts, since my posts do not exist within that context. Because I have never seen that perspective, and because I do not care about it.
C.) It matters to you. So you are responding to it. But this is not a subreddit where you can respond to a community at large. This is dballzposting. You are reaching only me and maybe some users who only care about Yamucha x Vegeta having gay sex, Goten urinal transgressions, and the like.
I understand that you are bothered by, and are responding to, a phenomenon which is evidently widespread. But this is not the place to be responding to that.
"These are both women who spent a good portion of their motherhood as single mothers and toriyama hasn't portrayed the results as anything but a set of happy, healthy children."
I know. I'm here to fix that.
More seriously: Dragon Ball is not a story about family dynamics. That is not the story that Toriyama is trying to tell. He doesn't have time to care about anyone's parenting habits, he does not have the space to imply that they have an effect on anyone when there are space aliens trying to kill everyone. Of course he portrays happy healthy children. He is writing about peace until he isn't. As I wrote previously, this holds no bearing on how people are free to discuss his work, and remember that empty fields are very fertile grounds for discussion.
"There is a constant problem of portraying these women who are really just asking for the presence and understanding of their husbands as belligerent and delusional and making them active abusers only worsens that."
This one is interesting. I really appreciate the strong adjectives chosen here. I do portray Chichi as "belligerent" and "delusional." This is because she is. I am respecting her writing. This is how Toriyama wrote her. He's partial to misogynistic writing himself. But other than that, I think that he also writes really good female characters. He wrote female characters that are strong, unapologetically authentic, fascinating, and weird.
I DO portray Chichi as belligerent and delusional, because she is, and I have always only loved that about her. You would not have known that I have always felt way. You do not read the dr dballz tabloids. But what you did read were those posts that you are responding to, and nowhere in those posts did I imply any dislike or malice toward the character of Ms Chichi. I know this, because I wrote them, and I like her, and would not have written about her in that way.
Still, that is what you saw, because you decided that lumping all unsavory posts that you see online together as a monochromatic monolith is best.
She IS belligerent and delusional, for very complex reasons, same as why anyone in real life is belligerent and delusional. I am very interested in her. I am interested in reading what other people have to say about her. I completely agree that she is just "asking for the presence and understanding of [her] husband." I think that she's never had security. I think that her husband leaves her too frequently. I think that she feels powerless. I think a lot of things, and I am very interested in expressing my thoughts on my personal publicly-accessible blog.
Moreover: What do you mean when you write "active abuser"? What do you think an "active abuser" is? Some inhuman that you can just write off? Do you think that portraying these women as abusers discredits their characters? What about the people they abuse, what if this is about honoring them? Is it more important that we ignore the ugly presence of abuse, and its effect, in order to paint these women as perfectly consumable saints?
Do you see how you cannot win when you play this moralistic game? Ms Chichi is belligerent and delusional and she is one of my favorite characters for it.
This next sentence of yours I will break up and respond to bit by bit.
"Just literally everything about your post is so wrong and gross"
Actually I want to take the opportunity to interject two things here: one, most of what I say on this blog is actually historically technically pretty much bullshit. As in, it does not always come from anything in canon. But Chichi beating her kids actually does come from canon. It actually does have its roots there. We do see her unstable, irascible way and violent outbursts more than once. Like this one actually has some merit. I wouldn't call that "wrong and gross." It's sort of a dballz win actually.
And two: I do not care that deeply about Chichi beating her children. It is not the most fucked up story that I care about. It is funny, it is true, it is piquant when I have something to say - it was not the thing that I thought I would get negative reviews on. There are some deeply disturbing things that I really do care a lot about. I mean, you never even saw the post about Tarble using the DARVO method against Vegeta and turning his soul inside out! I really liked that one.
"and your post about Gohan and Videl burning cigs on his arm"
HEY she smokes CIGARS. Get it right.
"is just so fucking utterly asinine"
I don't believe that this is an astute use of the word "asinine." It was not dumb, nonsensical, or devoid. I felt that it was insightful and bold. I do think that the punchline fell a little flat, only because the act of burning someone with a cigar is not at all comparable with the explosive act of passion that is beating someone with a skillet, so it doesn't actually make much sense in the context of a wounded attachment style. The two don't translate. Additionally, I don't think that Chichi became comfortable with hitting her kids until much later in Gohan's life, when his attachment style was already developed. So I will agree that that post failed to cohere its subtle attempts at legitimacy. Fortunately, that post was tactless and brazen intentionally for the purpose of comedy, so its secondary intentions were less important. That's how we do it around here on dballzposting. Again, I couldn't have expected you to know that, seeing as you essentially just burst in here, so I'm telling you now.
"that I can't tell if this is some sort of trauma you're coping through with these characters"
And so what if it is? Now you've stoked me. I am very passionate about the importance of leniency and forgiveness regarding this.
"or some weird fetish thing"
And so what if it is? Is there a difference between the last point and this one? If there is, does it matter in any practical sense? Does it matter to you?
This point in your message is where you illustrate your lack of working empathy and self-awareness. What if this WAS somebody working through trauma, in an explicit, visible, aware, direct-correlation sort of way? Is this an appropriate way to approach them about it?
What if this was somebody working through trauma in an implicit, subtle, indirect, patient, self-compassionate way? Is this an appropriate way to approach them about it?
What if this was somebody working through trauma in an unaware way, and this accusation would frighten them? What if they were fixated, or what if they found relief in the expression? Is this an appropriate way to approach them about it?
What if this was somebody manifesting symptoms of trauma in a way that resulted in a fetish, what if they did hold an inexorable fixation upon this, and we are viewing a corrupted sexual expression, an organism trying to persevere despite unresolved impacts on its health? Is this an appropriate way to approach them about it?
Would you dare damn art, an expression of something personal and living?
Do you think that art cannot be a way to deliberately or inadvertently process feelings and responses? Have you ever seen art that wasn't that?
"but it's just kind of sad and I think you need to talk to someone."
This last bit is a finalization of your insensitivity and lack of self-awareness. What you are doing at the end here is parroting common phrases and methods that you have seen on the internet. Ending an expression of personal dissent with faux-compassionate words in order to dial back the animosity. Because you don't want to be held accountable for your words, intentions, or feelings. You want to wash your hands of the whole thing, despite making the decision to approach somebody with your feelings.
You hide behind this internet moralism poorly: specifically, you bring up "trauma" as an internet buzz word that we're all meant to care about, but then in the same sentence fall far short of actually showing any real care.
My carping with this is the same as when we started - I don't think that you are being as poignant with your words as you could be. You're not saying what you mean. You do not really care, which is as acceptable as the truth must be, so why pretend to at all?
Here is what I think is happening with this whole message: I think that you think that this is what you really believe in, and you think that you have conviction, because what you really have is a lot of defensive energy stemming from some hurt. So you feel confident in writing this and sending it with your name attached.
I think that it is not standard operating procedure for you to sit in your discomfort when you are upset. I think that you do not know how to feel yourself with grace. I think that you perceive your own reaction as an attack from another.
I think that when you attack, you feel righteous in doing so, like you are attacking against a unified force that has long since been out to get you. But your attack is irrelevant. It is out of context here. I see a lack of ability to understand nuance. I see rigidity and shallowness. I see a lack of vitality.
You will not feel better until you learn how to tolerate yourself.
Healing trauma requires a self-awareness as well as a self-compassion. It requires that you are able to observe your feelings with curiosity and without judgement. This is also the way of leading a fulfilling and engaged life.
Your message to me is moralistic. It is uncreative and uninsightful. It is purely reactionary: it has absolutely nothing to do with what was actually written or what was actually intended. You just felt, let your feelings be thoughts, your thoughts beliefs, and then you acted. But feeling is only step one.
I took my time feeling through this message. It felt good to do so. Feeling through it made me arrive at a place of security and stability. I was very excited to discuss what I was seeing in this ask. I was very excited and grateful to know unequivocally, and to trust in my perception, that I know what I'm about.
Today, I care less about all of this. You probably care less too. This is the nature of feelings.
My final thoughts:
Reactionary criticism is not real criticism! Your opinions are inconsequential to me.
Your message here is all claws and no wit, and it immediately feels like attempting to reason with an irate wildcat: it is self-assured, it is self-oriented, it is self-defensive, and it does not speak my language. Did you intend for this? Are you human enough to come back from this?
If you can only tolerate sanitized "safe" art, then you have nothing inside that I find to be of merit. I am not interested in your lack of interest for the macabre or damning.
You can find things stupid if you want. But as of now, I do not trust that you think things through enough to have meaningful judgements.
Did you actually read through all of this? You didn't have to. I'm glad to write, even if I only imagine that it's reaching an audience. This is actually a good method of processing your feelings. I would recommend it next time you want to send an impulsive ask!
Goodbye!

the funny thing is that I can relate to gon on a personal level. the whole feeling guilty, taking the blame, and explode when things are too much. so to me, the way gon react after knowinh kite's death, is totally understandable. but it still makes me sad to see ppl wrongly interpret his actions and ignored his feelings. like he went though hell too during the whole arc. anyway we know that he regretted his action and he apologized to killua but his action had also caused a crack in their friendship. something that is unfortunate and I think that why the separation is needed to repair it.
but still hurt and I hate it.
and I finally get to meet alluka and I have to say that I still haven't warmed up to her. aside from being a factor in killugon separation, something about togashi introducing her in the series and we are heading to the dark continent arc? makes me wary of her. sure she's cute but well it let's just say, she isn't my fave characte.
I hope the movies are as good and I get to see my boys again. need them to heal this broken heart 😭 (2/2)
I'm glad you finished it! Thanks for coming back to give your impressions!
I agree about the way some of the fandom sees Gon and especially Gon's actions in Chimera Ant arc. It's such a shallow way to view the series and it surprises me how many people don't have compassion and understanding for what Gon went through. His feelings of guilt and his issues with self-esteem that lead up to what happened are present throughout the series--it makes a lot of sense when you go back and watch or read it again, there's so much foreshadowing and build up. I have no doubt Togashi was building in this direction all along. It's frustrating seeing people reacting to Gon's trauma without considering his age and all the reasons it makes sense for him to react the way he did. Even though we didn't see much of his perspective during Chimera Ant arc, it's clear how much pain he was in.
I do think the separation is ultimately good for them, though it certainly makes me sad, too--especially because we haven't gotten a reunion yet. 💔 (As I said in my prior meta, I have a lot of hope that we will eventually, though, assuming Togashi is able to keep working on the manga.)
I'm happy you're going to read the manga next! It's the original, after all, and there are some things that were left out or are a bit different than in the 2011 anime. Plus of course there's the next arc, even though Gon and Killua aren't present. The movies are not widely considered "good" LOL, and they're not technically canon because they weren't written by Togashi, but at least they're something you can consume to help with the post-anime heartbreak. The 1999 anime is also worth watching, though it deviates a lot more from the manga than the 2011 anime does (in some ways I like and some ways I don't like, personally). The atmosphere, art, and soundtrack are distinctive and lovely.
I like Alluka myself and I'm curious about the role she and Nanika will play going forward, but to each their own of course! You're entitled to your own opinion on her. She was a factor in the separation, sure, but Gon also wouldn't be healed without her.
My experience is that the broken heart from HxH doesn't go away if it truly resonates with you (and it sounds like it did for you!), but there are a lot of ways to cope with it--consuming the series multiple times in the different formats available, reading/writing meta and fanfics and looking at/drawing fanart, and commiserating with other people in the fandom. Hang in there, I remember how intense that feeling was at first! I'm always happy to discuss more if you have any particular topics you want to talk about!

following saga
Zac following V is HUGE for the fandom and locals (cause duh FEELS) but for him as an individual… she’s a part of his life no matter what tbh. I mean whether they are close or not during a particular season of life they go wayyyyy back. like the whole hsm cast is like that. even ashley posting hey buddy to zac on threads like they’re all connected to each other forever. ofc it’s up to them how they keep up that relationship etc but it’s always gonna be there. like with ellen pompeo and patrick dempsey. there was a looong season of life they weren’t talking to each other whatsoever but they are good now like they’re buds. tbh there’s not ONE article van does where they don’t say HSM and mention Zac’s name lol and Zac can do 100 diff things and ppl always say remember hsm hehe. so she’s honestly way more than just an ex bec their relationship isn’t solely based off just their romantic era they literally were best friends and a part of the hugest things of their lives + careers and growing up together and gaining fame together. that’s huge. like this is their version of army brothers for life LMAO haha. so it’s totally understandable. as to why now? we really don’t know but it’s not that surprising as well bec in today’s day and age a follow/DM is the best way to reach out to someone u know esp one who ur not in touch with on the regular and just show ur cool with them/silently supporting them or whatever that means but generally smth positive. that being said everything they do is like national and international news LOOL so it definitely magnifies the action but we can’t really say it’s JUST exes following exes etc and look at those social rules bec it’s not JUST that dynamic. I mean Austin and her yes they ONLY follow the exes dynamic bec they were only ever in a romantic relationship. nothing more. but i DEF also get why it’s extra wild bec Zac chooses to follow her when it’s literally YEARS after and post engagement lol & he’s single. lol. chaos. and 100%, usually i would feel she would follow back/not follow back someone regardless of being in a relationship however….. i feel like with the hate her new boy gets she definitely will think twice.
also i’m dying bec millions of us are spiraling out of our minds based on zaccy boy just going about his day & clicking a follow button on a phone screen on like a random day! hahhaaha.

You probably don’t even care, which is understandable, but do you think Hailey Bieber gives off high school mean girl energy? I personally do think she is pretty and successful, but i also just hate going on social media and see ppl take everything and blow it out of proportion to pit her against Selena Gomez and think whatever she says or does is out of jealousy over Selena and/or shading or bullying her (like what happened with the tiktok she made with Kendall Jenner using a certain tiktok sound, or even what recently happened with her and Kylie Jenner with the eyebrow thing) I do think they both do their own thing and want to move on, but somethings i see online seem either coincidental or non coincidental. Its social media, obvs. God knows what these celebs really do or think. These people don’t even care about us anyway so we shouldn’t play the blame game over this 😂 Overall, ppl shouldn’t encourange this for the sake of Selena’s mental health, the internet just wants Hailey to plummet and find closure that she *is* a mean person, but like I said I see things online that make me second guess that Hailey is just… off at certain times. I have so much to say about this but I cant articulate it all in one message, so Im just gonna leave it here 🥲 I dont blame Selena for taking a social media break, and i should do the same when I really feel like its best
That's so funny, I had actually just finished reading a deep-dive on the Hailey/Selena/Justin situation when you sent this. I do think Hailey gives off kind of "mean girl" energy, but I feel like people really blow it out of proportion. I think a lot of people would react the same way that she has if they were in her situation- she's constantly being compared to Selena and told that Selena was better for Justin or that he still really loves Selena, and Selena doesn't seem be able to let the relationship go even though Hailey and Justin have been married for over five years. I'm not saying Hailey couldn't deal with all of this better or that she's not being kind of mean, but I do think that a lot of the internet's hatred of Hailey comes down to the fact that she's a nepo baby with a famous husband as opposed to her actions. If the internet liked Hailey more as a person, I don't think they would be accusing her of being a mean girl.
And for Selena's part, I think she somehow gets way more hate and way less hate than she deserves? Her PR team is truly excellent- they've patched over a lot of stuff that would have sunk a different artist's career- but almost because of that, it seems like there's a group of people who are obsessed with making her out to be a giant villain? I think in general, Selena comes across as being much more sympathetic than Hailey because Selena has really worked for what she has, did "start from the bottom", and has struggled with her health very publicly, while Hailey has been given every advantage. But I think at this point, Selena should be able to let the whole thing go, and she's kind of keeping it alive while insisting that she's the victim and "being kind" and "sending love". She's also not really discouraging her fans from harassing Hailey, even though she's taking the stance of moral high ground.
Meanwhile, I think the real villain in this situation keeps getting totally ignored- straight up, this entire thing is Justin's fault. If he had been normal about his breakup with Selena and his relationship with Hailey, this wouldn't be happening. But because he very publicly ping-ponged between them from 2014 to when he eventually married Hailey in 2018 (only 7 months after having broken up with Selena, and only 3 months after having gotten back together with Hailey), it makes a lot of sense to me that both of them feel insecure and threatened by the other. Plus, Justin could have handled the media frenzy around his girlfriends differently- to this day, telling his fans, "I'm very much in love with my wife but I have a ton of respect for all the women I've dated in the past. Please don't harass them or act rudely towards them," would probably make a difference.
