I've had to introduce a moment in the latest novel where Eddie is having a minor crisis, and I wanted Simon to recognize it because he's cooking a specific dish he always cooks when he's dealing with anxiety or stress. But it took me for damn ever to figure out what that dish should be -- I don't cook as a coping mechanism for anxiety so I was no help to me. And I'm all for self care but if you Google "stress cooking" you mostly get "simple meals to cook when you're depressed" which is not what I was going for.
I did finally come up with something (see below) but it occurred to me this could be a fun discussion. If you cook to cope, even if it's coping with something other than stress like anger or sadness, what do you cook?
As an example, you can read about Eddie's stress cooking behind the cut...
(context: Simon is enjoying an evening chat with his brother Hugo and Hugo's wife Gwen when he sees Eddie post to Photogram.)
"What's he up to, anyway?" Gwen asked, as Simon studied the post.
"Process photos for a dish," he said, mildly concerned, because it looked like -- "He's making waffles. American waffles."
"Is that bad?" Gwen asked.
"It's not...good," Simon said.
"It's what he makes when he's stressed, and trying not to think about something," Hugo, who had witnessed the stress waffles before, explained.
"Because you can't see the waffles while they're cooking, and if you check too soon, you'll pull them in half," Simon added.
"How does that relieve stress?"
"It doesn't," Simon and Hugo chorused. Gwen looked amused.
"It just means you have to stand next to the waffle iron the entire time and watch it, and all the anxiety goes into that, instead of whatever you were worrying about," Simon continued. "So he explained it, in any case. His parents taught him that when steam stops rising the waffle is done, so you have to watch for the steam. As a wedding gift they gave him the waffle iron they cooked on when he was a child, so it's..."
"Comforting," Gwen suggested. "That's kind of sweet."
"Yes, but not entirely a good thing," Simon mused. "I do wish he'd let go of the idea he's not a baker. He's entirely adequate at most baked goods I've seen him make, and it would do him a world of good to really get into sourdough," he said to Hugo, who nodded knowingly. "I feel sourdough waffles would be a balm to the soul, and also taste better than the quick-rise kind."
"The heart wants what the heart wants," Gwen said.
"I suppose so," Simon agreed. "I'll speak to him tomorrow. Many confessions happen in a kitchen."

Hi could I request the members reaction to their s/o gives them a gift?
yes of course!! this took me a lot longer than I expected, rip to my exams next week. I'm really terrible at gift giving so I hope my writing is better than my gifts :p
this isn't proof-read I'm way to tired to do that, so if there are some mistakes please ignore them :)

after coming home from a long day, all jiwoong wanted to do was crawl into bed and talk to you, but upon walking through the door, there was two things he noticed. one, that you weren't in the living room like you usually were and two, the large bouquet of flowers that sat so beautifully on the dining table.
"baby?" he called out, wondering where you were, and at that moment, you walk into the room ready to give him a big hug. "what is this?"
"I decided that you've helped me so much over the course of our relationship, and even though it won't be able to repay it all, I wanted to get you some flowers as a thank you!" you exclaim, gesturing your hands towards the table.
he smiles, pulling you into a hug almost immediately, kissing the top of your head repeatedly, too amazed to reply.
you get him flowers much more often after seeing his reaction.

seeing your boyfriend play the violin was always something you'd love, whether he was playing for fun or not. the way he moved the bow across the strings of the violin made you feel so so proud to have such an artistic and talented boyfriend, so when he came home one day from an impromptu class with a friend from university, all pouty and sad, you wanted to know the reason.
it turned out that the repeated rehearsal of this new piece that has had been trying to learn meant that the strings of his bow had degraded over time, and eventually there weren't enough strings on the bow to play effectively.
so a trip to the nearest instrument store was required, but only, you kept it a secret from your talented boyfriend, wanting it to be a cute surprise before he aimed to practice next.
to say that he was beyond happy is an understatement, he might have even teared up a bit, the thought that you had gone out of your own time, researched what bow he used and then gone and gotten it for him so he didn't have to made him so proud to be your boyfriend, he loved you so much and this was all he needed to love you forever and ever.
𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐛𝐢𝐧
when shopping with your boyfriend, hanbin had noticed cute phone cases in the window of a store, and practically dragged you in. but when seeing the prices of said cute phone cases, he deflated, unsure of how much money he had left after already paying for some clothing items and your lunch.
but never fear, you were there to save the day, grabbing the pair of phone cases when your boyfriend wasn't looking and paying at the counter. finding your boyfriend now at the front of the store, with a cute pout on his face, you couldn't help but reveal the phone cases immediately, not wanting to keep him sad any longer.
"oh! what's this?" he exclaims, grabbing the bag from your hand and peeking inside, "you didn't!" he almost screams, grabbing you into a tight hug, so happy that you had bought them for the both of you, it had definitely made his day for sure, placing the cases on immediately, showing the matching pair to anyone who could see.
𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐰
a cute date a couple of days ago between you and matthew had left you both in a photobooth store, with too many strips of poses to count and not much space to store them on the walls of your room.
so when accidentally finding a style of photoframe that could display many cute strips from photobooths, you bought it quickly, ready to place the photos in and give them as a cute gift to your boyfriend, a nice memory of your day out together.
walking over to matthew's dorm, you held the wrapped photogram close to you, ready to hand it over to him, imagining the wide smile on his face, giggling just thinking about it.
he was beyond ecstatic when unwrapping the gift, so happy in fact he ran to place it on his desk, making sure the angle was perfect so that he could look over at any moment and see your cute face.
𝐭𝐚𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐞
gaining the new nickname amongst fans "fashion taeraerist", your boyfriend had become slightly insecure at his clothing style, asking many of his friends and you yourself whether he did style himself badly when going out.
not wanting to hurt your cute boyfriends feelings - because yes, you did find the joke funny and secretly agreed - you went on a mini shopping spree, buying him a couple of hoodies and t-shirts that were currently in trend, so he could go out and meet fans without worrying about his fashion.
boxing them up and sending them to the planet camp that you unfortunately couldn't enter due to security reasons, you waited for your boyfriend to call you when he received it so you could see what he thought of it.
when taerae was told that. box of clothing had been sent to him, he was confused, how had security let someone random send him clothes? but upon opening the box and reading he cute letter from you, he was no longer worried, flattered that you had gone out of your way to help him with this insecurity, calling you immediately telling you how much he loved you and that he would go and buy you a matching hoodie when he debuted.
𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐲
when your boyfriend is 'young and rich, tall and handsome' buying gifts for him tends to be a bit difficult, considering he has everything he already wants, and if he wanted something new, he would go and buy it himself instead of telling you.
so with your upcoming one year anniversary, you were beginning to panic, knowing that ricky probably had something lavish and expensive up his sleeve, something that you probably couldn't afford in your wildest dreams, which was making you incredibly stressed.
when ricky had overheard you ranting to your best friend about your stresses concerning the upcoming anniversary, your boyfriend was quick to explain that he didn't want anything expensive for the anniversary, your love and presence was enough. but to you, it wasn't enough, not nearly fair.
so you thought really hard and came up with the idea of making a scrapbook filled with memories of you first year of being in a relationship, glueing in cute photos, ticket stubs to movies, pressed flowers from bouquets he had bought you after a big achievement. it was all coming together, now all that was left to do was to give it to him.
I will be so honest with you, he cried when opening it, full on tears, because he gelt so overwhelmed with love and gratitude that you had gone out of your way to not only put the scrapbook together, to write cute messages and annotations of printed photos, but that you had kept everything you had done together.
you mean a lot to ricky and he is so grateful that you care about him just as much.

did I get this from tiktok after seeing that gyuvin had a girlfriend pre boys planet, and they had matching rings?? yes.
gyuvin had always been a fan of matching things, matching clothes, matching hats, matching phone charms and of course, matching jewellery.
to celebrate his upcoming birthday, you had bought this pair of sleek couple rings from a jewllery store, wanting the gift to be something you could both wear everyday, always having a piece of the other with you at all times.
and wear the ring at all times, he did. gunwook swears that he has never seen gyuvin without the ring since receiving it for his 18th birthday, and the likelihood of him keeping it on for the rest of his life was very high. gyuvin looked at the ring often for motivation when he felt down, remembering that you were always in his corner, ready to support him and his crazy ideas for the rest of your time together,
𝐠𝐮𝐧𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐤
gunwook, as a studious and academic man, always felt the need to further his education. reading book after book, researching fun facts to tell his friends at school and always wanting to appear well knowledgable to anyone that met him.
he had mentioned in passing when waiting for the bus with you that he had spotted this new book about the science behind planets and had decided he was going to buy it when he got his allowance from his parents at the end of the month.
but he never ended up using the money to buy the book, instead using it to buy the both you ice creams as a thank you for the book that had ended up on his school desk two days later, a sticky note attached, wishing him well with the book, hoping that he enjoyed it as much as he thought he would.
a kiss was shared when he found you later on the dead, grabbing you into a bear hug, him squeezing you tightly, repeating "thank you" and "I love you" many times, hoping it would express how grateful he was for both the book and you.

as a dedicated dancer, many of yujin's sweatpants had gotten dirty quickly, fraying at the edges as evidence of the hard work that he always put into his favourite form of movement,
so when he had planned to come over to your apartment after school to have dinner with you and your parents, you planned to surprise him with two new pairs of sweatpants to rehearse in, so that he wasn't constantly rotating between the same three pairs.
he smiled gratefully, hugging you in your room, placing his head on your shoulder, pecking your temple lightly, thanking you repeatedly for the thoughtful gift, telling you that he would wear them all the time.
poor gyuvin had to listen to yujin's rants about how amazing you were and how thankful he was to have you as his partner.

With the calendar turning quickly towards Winter I thought I would create one last Autumn pic for the year.   Did it a little differently this time though.   I took advantage of Quixel making their “Megascans” library free for the rest of the year and downloaded some of their photogrammed 3D assets to see if they can work in my VUE scenes.    I hope you enjoy the result.   I may incorporate more…

I knew I was forgetting something in that guide; terminology of marisa's world (this also isn't all of them, just some basic ones, I also took out the places and people bc we already covered that in the guide)
general terminology:
Aeronaut: Balloonist. Obsolete term. From the Greek aer 'air' and nautes 'sailor'.
Alethiometer: "The Golden Compass". Literally meaning 'Truth Measure'. From the Greek alethes 'truth' and meter 'measure'. Compare to the modern English philosophical term alethiology 'study of truth'.
Anbaric: Electric. From the Arabic anbar 'amber' and the Latin electrum 'amber'. Electric was originally adopted to describe objects that develop static electricity when rubbed, a property first observed in amber.
Atomcraft: Research into particle physics, specifically using uranium.
Cauchuc: Rubber. From the Quechua caoutchouc, meaning 'natural rubber or latex'.
Celestial geography: Celestial navigation.
Chapel: Scientific Laboratory.
Chaplain: Head of a Scientific Laboratory.
Chocolatl: Chocolate. From the Nahuatl chocolatl 'chocolate'.
Chthonic Railway Station: Underground Railway Station. From Greek chthonos 'underground'.
Cloud-pine: A type of wood used by Witches for flying.
Coal-silk: Nylon. A synthetic fibre made from coal that was invented as a substitute for natural silk.
Dæmon: The physical manifestation of a human soul in Lyra's world. This distinct spelling is intended to evoke the older sense of an "attendant spirit" and thereby distinguish it from the Judaeo-Christian use to refer to an evil spirit or devil.
Dust: An elementary particle. Known as shadows, shadow-particles or dark matter in Will's world, and sraf in the mulefa world. The name Dust was chosen in Lyra's world based on an interpretation of the end of the Third Chapter of Genesis in the Bible, where God curses Adam and Eve for eating the fruit of the tree.
Fire-mine: A geothermal vent in which the panserbjorn work in metallurgy; supposedly impenetrable to humans and witches.
Gyropter: Helicopter. Obsolete term. From the Greek gyros "spiral" and pteron "wing".
Marchpane: Marzipan.
Naphtha: Oil. A petrochemical like kerosene.
Peaceable Ocean: The Pacific Ocean. Name given in the 16th century in recognition of the calm seas experienced by explorer Ferdinand Magellan. A direct translation of the Latin pacific 'peace-making, tranquil' into English.
Photogram: Photograph. Obsolete term. From the Greek photo 'relating to light' and gram 'something written'.
Experimental Theology: Physics.
Tokay: A rare golden wine. Probably based on the Hungarian wine Tokaji.

Week 2 - Task 1: Read: Photography and Truth - Part 2
In the second part of Photography and Truth, the article starts by talking about how photography became for the people with the release of Kodak No. 1 and then the Kodak Brownie camera. Marketed as easy to use and then with the brownie camera more affordable and accessible to general audiences. An example brought up regarding the accessibility of the camera was Elsie Wright and Frances Griffiths's staged fairy photography. This example of photography trickery, to me, is a harmless example of children's imagination. And I think it is wonderful that these cousins were able to create compelling photos that tricked people of all ages, as they were harmless and a great story to look back on. It's interesting to think that people embraced these photos due to a need to believe in something due to the devastation of WWI. This makes me think about my childhood and the childlike innocence I had towards viewing photography as fact. I'm sure I have vague memories of seeing staged photos of fairies and believing them as real. As for a child, that is a wonderful reality to escape into.
The article moves on to talk about snapshot albums and how they are seen as sincere. However, it ignores the fact that each image is selected, framed, and curated to present a certain idea. I can think of family portraits we had done when I was younger. The staging of what we wore, the lighting, and the poses. Each portrays a superficial reality that wasn't entirely true.
Another key claim is that colour is seen as lurid and unrealistic while black and white are seen as truthful, sincere and serious. In some ways, I associate black and white with the past and the misguided opinion that photography was entirely truthful. However, the existence of hand-colouring portraits was a thing during the nineteenth century, a form of manipulation relating to the use of colour in photography. After this, the colour is manipulated during the processing of images. In a way, even now, the colours a camera takes aren't even going to be exactly as seen in nature. The popularisation of filters and auto filters on phone cameras means that what we put out into the world is never faithful to the true colours of what we took the photo of.
During the twentieth century, documentary photography became a key means of recording world events. The article talks about images that often portray a sense of realism but the actual photo being staged to suit/further the agenda of the photographer. An example provided in this section stuck out to me. Yevgeny Khaldei’s photograph Raising a Flag over the Reichstagtaken in 1945, depicts Soviet victory over the Nazis during the battle of Berlin. This was staged by using the available soldiers to reenact the action. In some ways, it seems this was shown to portray something that happened. So, one could argue this is founded in truth but was still manipulated/staged. Photographers using editing techniques like Photoshop can also allow quick manipulations to "heighten the power of their works", such as editing the Migrant Mother to remove the thumb, which was deemed to detract from the overall image. The article talks about how a small lie is erased by the importance of the photogram in communicating a greater truth. Photographs can also be altered to portray ideas to the public that suit a political agenda and propaganda narratives, such as in Stalin's case, where political opponents removed by murder were removed from photographs, altering the perception of history. Another example of the manipulation of the general public is the photograph of an American Girl in Italy, which was used to talk about the positive experiences of women travelling alone. But it was later adapted to suit the narrative of street harassment and the dangers women face, completely skewing the native to suit a different agenda.
Finally, the article talks about interpretation and manipulation. A key claim is that a photographer’s subjective view should be considered in terms of how a photograph is framed and read, contradicting the idea that a photograph is an objective record. Therefore, we should be vigilant and look at photographs with a critical eye. I think this is true for my generation as we are aware of manipulation, and it is so easy for us to do it ourselves. We choose which images we like the most in terms of flattering angle and framing. Continuing on from this, the article talks about how, in the mid-twentieth century, multiple significant texts talked about the history of photography, but they neglected a large amount of the history, focusing on a Western white, male point of view. Recently, though, there has been a shift to highlight different narratives and create a more inclusive larger picture of the history of photography.
To conclude, it is important for us to look at photography with a critical eye, especially with the emerging popularity of technologies like deep fake, AI, and better editing tools in Photoshop. It is easier than ever for anyone to manipulate photos to suit a personal agenda. That being said, it does not mean that photography portrays the truth. We just need to have a critical eye when viewing it. So therefore, photography has and will always have a complicated relationship with the truth, but awareness of this would allow us to understand it rather than fear it.

Week 1- Cyanotype Photograms
From what I can see at first glance of the image is there are half egg shells in a egg carton that have images inside them. The photograph looks like it was taken close up and with no flash, utilizing natural light. The photographer took this photo probably to show viewers some things that have meaning in his life as for why in the egg shells, it could be that the interest started with what each image shows.

Artist Post #2
Kei Ito is an installation artist who works with photographic media and sculpture. Eye Who Witnessed is a body of work that features 108 c-print photograms of eyes. Half of the images are of Japanese victims of the atomic bomb dropped by the United States in 1945. The other half are of American Downwinders. American Downwinders are some of the first victims because they were unaware of the invisible threat of radiation. The original images come from books, interviews and even from his own family album. Ito decided to mix up the images before installing to make it unclear which eyes are Japanese, and which are American. I think this is a really cool idea that highlights the idea that nuclear weapons affect everyone. I wonder what people think who see this installation without knowing the context behind it. I think most people would be drawn into the work intentionally as I was but I’m glad I took the time to learn more about it. It makes me wish that I could come up with ideas like this. I wouldn’t consider this to be a simple idea but I think it is done so well that it comes across like that.

Reading Prompt 2
Starting in 1916, during World War I, DADA was a literary and art movement. DADA was founded in Zürich, Switzerland, by DADA artists such as Hugo Ball, Emmy Hennings, Marcel Janco and Richard Huelsenbeck. Many arts that came out of DADA seemed like nonsensical madness, as it often was photomontages (cut up and pasted images) to gibberish poetry reading. Although DADA, itself, has no meaning, the narrative in the art, poetry, and performance produced often had a deeper political meaning. These political narratives started by shedding light on the horrors of war but then led to other issues like women’s suffrage and social norms at the moment. DADA artists wanted to shock and confuse people with their art, while creating a deeper meaning which challenged standard social norms and issues. DADA artists such as Marcel Duchamp created Fountain, which is one of his readymade sculptures made in 1917. This sculpture challenged the artist to question what art is, challenging traditional art. Though a strange concept, Duchamp and many other DADA artists influenced many of the art styles and changed the meaning of art today. They created meaning in their art in a silly way that challenged the artist of their time.
Another artist that took social issues and created art out of them was German artist Hannah Hoch. Hoch’s most popular DADA artwork is Cut with the Kitchen Knife Dada Through the Last Weimar Beer Belly Cultural Epoch of Germany. It seemed like a type of protest about many issues. In the artwork, it can be cut apart into different sections. We can see a separation between DADA and anti-DADA at the top and bottom. The top section was the anti-DADAist and their expressions against DADAism. While the bottom half was the world of DADAist and to encourage others to join DADA. In this artwork, Hannah Hoch tackled other social issues, such as the women’s suffrage movement. Man Ray was another DADA artist who found his main form of creating art was through black room manipulations. His photograms, which he called Rayographs, The Kiss (1922) and Glass tears (1932) had deeper meanings that connected to him as an artist. As we know, Marcel Duchamp created sculptures, which he called readymade, that challenged artists and what was classified as art. Many of these DADA artists pushed the world of art, breaking the rules by creating sculptures and images that were not classified as beauty and were seen as obscure and nonsensical. Many could not understand the meaning of their artwork and would become rallied up. With that said, this reaction was exactly what these artists' goal was; to challenge the social norms and bring a new point of view. DADA artists like Man Ray help photographers understand that there could be more to their photos with dark room manipulation. In conclusion, DADA artists allowed for new forms of art to be created, with the use of readymade and Rayographs, like Surrealism and a more modern type of art, Pop art and Contemporary art.

These are some edited photos from my most recent photoshoot with my friend Harry. When we took these, my idea was to showcase the body as sculptural in several ways, with expression, movement, and nature. However, my idea has since evolved to focus on the body and photograms of plants, showing that the body and nature are one and the same. Because of this, several of these photos don't really work anymore due to the jewellery and accessories included. The most successful shots are the ones with high contrast because it ties in nicely with photograms, and the ones without accessories because the watch and rings are distracting and irrelevant. I have one more shoot with Harry coming up so that we can reshoot without the accessories, and end with a lot more photos that are relevant to my final concept.

Reproduction Assignment
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first image is the original Foto Qualitat by Laszlo Moholy-Nagy and the second image is my recreation. I started this project by trying to gather the media and components necessary for it. I started with taking a picture of my own hand, and then treating it like a photogram made it completely black. I then went to openverse, an online website to look for free, public commons media. I found a photo of a Soviet Camera taken by Yunost that I believe best fit the time period and design for the piece. I also found a textured image called "old paper grunge" by Brandie Minchew to give the background some more grain and "Texture of grainy smoked protective wall" by Horia Varlan to give the hand shadows more texture. I the used the pen tool to select and adjust/ overlay these images together to give the best and closest effect to the original. The lines in the background were made using the line tool. The foto Qualitat lettering was done by ben took and the eye picker to match the colors. The warp tool was used to manipulate the camera to being closer to the original camera, as well as some adjustment layers to get the image closer. Overall, this project was fun to do, and required a lot of playing around with selections and overlays to get a result I was happy with.

I got inspired by an album called Indigo, produced by a beautiful human being. He is a rapper, singer and songwriter - Namjoon Kim... So this is a wildflower, which I happen to take with my film camera during mid summer before my long covid phase. Immediately soon after I suffered from COVID for four long months. Then, I experimented a lot with this one photo of wildflower. It is all in my gallery here anyway. During the month of November, when all the concept film of Indigo came out I was inspired to use Vandyes... But as clumsy as I am, I made a mess of everything... So you will see what I made, and what an ideal vandye print was supposed to look like (check the 3rd image). Later to make it fine, I digitally took a picture of the vandye and corrected all the mistakes in photoshop... I don't think I am allowed to use the garage anymore, but what's the harm in trying😅 🥲 I wanted to post this sooner, but I was waiting for the album to reach to me.. #handprinting #vandyes #darkroompractice #traditionalphotography #phtography #photographylovers #nikonfm10 #photographyeveryday #photogram #experimemtal #intercollective #spicollective #indigo #experimentalart #artinspiration #artexploration #experimentalphotography (at Sahyadri Mountain Range) https://www.instagram.com/p/CofE6uzIbzy/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

More Darkroom Time
I wanted to experiment more with the marbles. I thought the last time that it was successful, maybe more so because I really enjoyed creating the pieces however it was just testing the waters with the spray bottle and I wanted to expand on it a bit.
⬇️ Initially I couldn't find the marbles but I had brought in safety pins and I remember I included images of sharp hospital tools-like photogram in my research. I wanted to try something along those lines as I have been experimenting more with moving objects in photograms compared to still objects. I actually quite like how it turned out, although after experimenting with the spray bottle and marbles in the past to me this just isn't as interesting or exciting to look at. It is just a bit mundane. Further down I did experiment with merging these two ideas though which I found much more unique and enjoyable to make and look at.
Tumblr media
⬇️ I thought this was much more successful that the previous just because it has more going on within the photogram. I think what I am finding with the photograms is how much more I enjoy them when there is more of a concept and more variables within the print. I think that makes them just a bit less boring and X-RAY like. I was actually very impressed with how this one came out though because I find the fading off towards the end quite fascinating. Happy accident!
Tumblr media
⬇️ These two below are where I added in the marbles element. By looking closely you can see some safety pins within the print although they're very hidden. I tried it by rolling the marbles while it was exposing but I don't think I thought it through properly as the safety pins got knocked out of the way and thrown off the paper. These two photograms aren't my favourites just because I don't find the water trails that happened because of the marbles as interesting or eye-catching as the others below. I also am not too much a fan of the size I chose to create these on, I am more invested in the larger size prints but I think that's just because I have more space to cover with the water spray and rolling the marbles. Different patterns every time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⬆️ This print threw me a bit just because I never used the spray bottle, I was more interested in trying to keep the marbles still rather than having them move just because last time I tried this the marbles became translucent and you can see a centre to them which I think is so cool and made a good few of my peers question what it was I had used. This print though I think was one of my favourites just because obviously i couldn't keep the marbles still for long so they moved as the light was on and they shifted and you can see in the print that some of the marbles look as if they're almost overlapping and I think that just creates even more wonder and curiosity within the print which is what I want to achieve.
⬇️ There is a significant difference between how the scanner made this print look compared to the real photogram. The real photogram is a lot lighter and the way the scan came through its darker, which I like a lot more, adds a bit of depth to the print. This print was to combine the water spray and the still marbles which actually froze although it took a bit of time to keep them from rolling. I think there are definitely elements of this photogram such as the corners where the smaller spray has hit the paper rather than the very obvious ‘splash zone’ where I pointed the bottle at the paper. I think the smaller spray marks are more interesting as they look like a petri-dish, something out of a science lab which is makes me feel like a mad scientist.
Tumblr media
⬇️ So with this one I sprayed the bottle in the air and let the water fall onto the paper rather than spraying it onto the paper to try and avoid the ‘splash zone’ aspect that I didn't like as much in the last. This print and the one below are definitely my favourites because although the have the same elements, by executing them differently I think they came out so much better than I could've expected. I also unintentionally included the overlapping effect that I liked in one of my previous prints above which just adds to the curiosity of what's happening. I am already thinking of cropping this print however just because it does drag on from the left to right which I think could be cleaned up a bit.

⬇️ Adding to the idea of being a mad scientist, I love the chaos in this photogram. There is so much going on because I had sprayed the water into the air again and let it fall to kind of create a uniform base layer and just before letting it expose I poured the cup of marbles onto the paper and let them roll about feel. During the exposure I wanted to keep them moving for the whole time so I pushed them around and this is what it created. To me I can understand why it is a lot but I think thinking along the lines of ‘mad-scientist’ I can't see some blown up disease or something. I think the chaos within this is actually quite captivating and will spark curiosity and wonder. Again though I think I will crop to get rid of the bar along the top which was just cropping gone wrong.

⬆️Same situation just without the additional chaos to it, I just played around with rolling them around the wet paper to create the trails which are very patch like with the lines intersecting and crossing over each other which almost helps your eye follow around the print. However contradicting that, it is hard just to follow one line as they're all over the place, they more help you see all what's going on in the print. The marbles were in a glass and I just threw them on the paper and pressed the light and if they stopped moving I moved them myself. I think these three were successful in the lead up to my favourites but as a concept I am really pleased with them and think they definitely look like some strange science experiment.

Believe it or not, but this is probably one of the best photos I have EVER taken! This was back in Utah, I had enough of the heat and saw my first chance to cool off in some crystal clear water! I stripped down to bare bones and took my soap with me and had a nice little bath all to myself. #fatbikeamerica #riverbath #bathing #utahheat #weather #swim #river #riverwater #tanned #tannedskin #brown #stream #bath #refresh #photooftheday #photography #photoshoot #photogram #splishsplash #bathtime (at Utah) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cla6InMu0r8/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

There was at least some relative information between their mothers-- it was better than nothing. Still, Marisa couldn't relate at all to the thought of a mother loving her. She didn't know what that felt or looked like.
"I don't like to speak of her because I don't like to think of her." she admitted. "Thinking of her causes what I told you about. She showed up today, and it was her mere presence that set me off."

"I don't know what that's like at all, what you said. A parent loving me." she told him softly. Her expression and tone were calm, though there was a knot forming in her throat. "She admitted to me once, that she didn't love me. She said in so many words when I had angered her that if I wasn't cooperating, if I wasn't being actually worth something, I was useless to her. While not performing, I was useless to her. Showing affection to me, for example, only rarely served a purpose, and I only received it when it did. I still vividly remember the first time she ever hugged me. I was four, and a family friend was over at the house. The next time she hugged me was for a photogram taken at church, when I was seven." she murmured. "She's very religious as well. Took me to events. Paraded me around, telling others my accomplishments, how beautiful I was. I remember loving those events at first, since it was the only time I ever heard praise from her. But I always stopped existing again once we were home, going into a sort of standby until she needed me to perform again. I was fed, watered, given all the necessary things to care for myself, and other than me being needed, only when I did something that upset her did I exist again. It was never good attention received then, however. "
He frowned. Why was she talking about his mother suddenly? But e answered anyway, wanting to show that she could open up more with him.
"She was... really religious. She made a habit of hers to drag me and my brother in every event the Magisterium organised. In my youth, I allowed to her to do so and tried to behave, but after I turned twelve, I enjoyed making a mess at these events." He chuckled at the memories. "But she loved me. Always treated me well. At least, until my brother passed away." A dark shadow passed on his face, he looked away from Marisa. "I then became the Belacqua heir and she thought I wasn't behaving like one. We were both devastated by my brother's death. But didn't show it the same way. She became stricter and decided to home-school me. I disagreed and ran away. Our relationship broke the exact same day we've buried my brother."
He looked back at Marisa. "What about yours? You never tell me anything about her."
