Just thinking about how Sirius can’t handle not being his baby brother’s only confidant anymore.
He doesn’t talk to him anymore, not like he used to. Is it because of mum and father? He only gets cold looks and the occasional ‘Hello Sirius.’ What happened to ‘hey Siri! How was charms? Did you learn more?’
It hurts even more when he stumbles across Regulus with Crouch, of all people- Sirius had been under the invisibility cloak- he’d borrowed it from James, wanting to go talk to Regulus, to see what was wrong- and he found him with that awful Barty Crouch. They were stood much too close, Sirius thought- why was Reg talking to him so much? He never spoke that much, not to Sirius. Was Sirius no longer who Regulus went to?
How dare Crouch steal his brother. How dare their parents drive them apart, and how dare Regulus let it happen- Crouch, really? Sirius was right there, and Regulus chose Barty Crouch.

less mean Regulus and golden retriever James and more Shy but sweet nerd Regulus and Bully(with a soft side only for what's his) James. I actually like bully James because it means character growth.
I would actually love to see this. Like actually so badly.
James being an asshole. James being condescending and rude. Loud and annoying. I’d love to see James tease and mock Regulus just because he can.
I’d love to see a Regulus who takes it because he thinks that’s how things are. Take a Regulus who eventually finds the courage to stand up to his brothers best friend. The guy that bullies every Slytherin who so much as breathes in this direction.
Give me a James who is taken aback when Regulus doesn’t take his shit anymore. Give me a Regulus who can be just as cruel but only when he thinks it’s deserved.
Give me a James who starts falling in love with Regulus because of how much fun he is having arguing with him.
Give me a James who starts showing up in the library just to see Regulus, just to argue with him. A Regulus who doesn’t take his shit, ignores him, ridicules him, puts him in his place.
I want to see sweet with the sharpest tongue when provocted, nerd Regulus Black and arrogant piece of shit James Potter slowly fall in love through arguments and long debates. (Because James is smart too he just doesn’t look it).
I want to see Regulus have the confidence to stand up for himself, starting with his bully, starting with James Potter because it has very little consequences when he does so.
I want to see them grow together and apart. I want James to realise that he IS a bully. That most of the younger years in Slytherin are scared of him. That the older Slytherins hate him because of how he treats them. I want to see James actually think about his actions for once. Think before he speaks. I want to see a James, who stops Sirius from also bullying Slytherins.
That’s the kind of growth I want to see. James changing because he realises that maybe he isn’t as good of a person as he thinks he is, as his friends and parents and teachers tell him he is.
The growth I want to see in Regulus is from this shy, sweet nerd to someone who stands up for himself and others when something is wrong. I want to see Regulus become confident with himself, grow to be someone who doesn’t take shit from anyone, even the adults in his life.
I want to see Regulus run away and make a life for himself. (And because I love Lucretia and Regulus) I want to see Regulus run to his Aunt. Idk just something about Regulus finally having the confidence to live the life he wants to live. Standing up for those who can’t stand up for themselves.
I want to see a James who is the scary boyfriend. But also, he is kind and loveable and protects what’s his (and those he loves).
Bully James x Nerd Regulus.
Enemies (ACTUAL ENEMIES) to Lovers.
Not just this one sided hatred but mutual. Regulus hates him because he is a bully and stole his brother etc etc. James hates him because he is a Slytherin, because he is Sirius brother, because he doesn’t look out for Sirius how James thinks he should.
I actually have so many ideas that can fit around this trope lol. Never thought I would be this passionate about this haha

Yes Sirius is probably a protective brother and same goes for Regulus because of how they grew up. Sirius would mess/tease James about his little brother but out of EVERYONE ELSE James would be his first pick for a life partner for Regulus - it doesn't mean he wants to watch them make out but I think his protectiveness would be more about 'James you better make him happy or I swear' rather than trying to kill James right away for touching his brother.
For Regulus it's different. It's a bit established, or at least for me, that while he might have gotten a crush on James early on; Regulus would HATE James just because he sees Sirius spending all his time with him. Regulus would be a very jealous shit and this makes things even more difficult because with his crush on James he can't pick what is bad about James when it's simply a matter of "you stole my brother".
With their complicated childhood, even if Sirius and Regulus aren't close, they would probably latch on each other but Sirius grows out of it faster thanks to James and going to Hogwarts before Regulus. They are both very different and don't exactly get along but THEY LOVE EACH OTHER TO DEATH. Whether it comes from their fucked up childhood or not doesn't matter - Regulus relied on Sirius longer than the other way around and he saw Sirius moving away from him and he is probably scared about it. But I could develop on that later because they are complex characters with many developments and reasons.
REMUS THOUGH. I fully believe that Regulus and him would be great friends, share their passions and understanding their thoughts without much troubles BUT Regulus would absolutely not like Remus at first.
Because while James stole Sirius at the beginning of their school years, Remus sort of imposed himself by mistake in Sirius' radar because of Sirius' obvious love for him, requited without a doubt - so yes they also become sort of co-dependent. James and Sirius might need to be around each other like two parasites but they can still do separate things. With Remus though they create their own little world and you are kicked out without having a chance to fight it; they don't notice that but Regulus certainly does and hates it.
Regulus would hate Remus because he /also/ steals his brother and it's even worse than James.
He can deal with a James' addition, partly because of his crush and because Sirius will always be here for him even though they are different. Regulus could get along with Remus yes but he is still jealous (Hogwarts years they are TEENAGERS) and now he has a new enemy to focus on- so yes Regulus might hate James at first but I think we're missing a lot on the fact that Regulus would be a nightmare for Remus at first.
Any excuses, manipulations, to test/get rid of Remus 'for Sirius' sake' and it would torture Regulus who is hit by how much they are truly in love with each other and he can't do anything but sit and watch his brother latch on to someone else.

Do you respond to comments?
mostly! I am very very good at hiding though.
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
i'm a HEA person. I guess the closest would be...
You called me angel for the first time, my heart leapt from me
Regulus is an angel, James falls in love with him when he comes to take James' soul.
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
personally i think all of 'em bahaha. but maybe... Thousands of Good Deeds
Do you write crossovers?
what does this mean?! my friend @emjayeingray and I wrote a wolfstar x downton abbey au once? Starting Fires and Stealing Kisses
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
once but someone in the comments replied to them for me and it was so nice that it made me pick up the story again and keep writing it lmao
Do you write smut?
sigh. not *really*. like, implied?? here's the things, my ears go red at the mere prospect of writing the word c***, or ***e, or like any of 'em. so... perhaps one day I'll give it a go.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
no
Have you ever had a fic translated?
no
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
YES! with @emjayeingray, @januaryfirstreads and @brigid-faye. it is my absolute favourite.

i have a few hidden WIPs cause they give me anxies. I'm pretty sure I'll finish all of them tbf.
What are your writing strengths?
dialogue. i'd say thats the one (1) thing I'm good at. i can slay the shit out of a good conversation. just... don't ask me to have one in real life cause I can barely make eye contact babe
What are your writing weaknesses?
i forget to describe where people are. what something looks like. i also love a comma
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
i think language can be so tied to culture that they are linked beyond imagination. i think if you're gonna do it, do it well, and do it conscientiously.
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
i reallyyyyy wanna write evan/james lmao. im the newest member of the Evan rosier fanclub
What's your favourite fic you've written?
fuck that's so hard? i write so much about grief and addiction and all of these things that mean so much to me that it's all scattered through each of 'em. so I'll say Thousands of Good Deeds because it's the first long boyo I've finished and I can see the improvements in my writing as it goes on. and it was just like such a proud thing to finish it. and my friend jules made it into a book for me and I'll never ever get over that.

"Don't get me started on jegulus" actually please get started I'd like to hear your thoughts on it because your take on wolfstar and the oc-ification of some characters is so refreshing to see (tbh my first reaction to jegulus was just confusion on how it started and how quickly it got popular lmao)
ahh this makes so happy to hear that my post resonated with some people!! Was worried i was in the minority lol.
Anyways, abt jegulus -- i acc had a reaaally long post about how much i hated the dynamic (in canon compliant ish works -- Jegulus in aus is fine ig) but i deleted it lol.
I think the core reason why i dislike the pairing so much is that I feel like it the ship goes against everything James stands for. We don't know a lot about James' character in canon, but what we do know is that he had a strong sense of justice, and fierce loyalty to his friends and his cause, which ultimately led to his doom. I just can't imagine that James would associate with someone even a little bit bigoted. This is not to say i think James is a saint, i think he could be an ass sometimes (snapes worst memory lol) but i think he'd draw the line at someone who was associated with 'evil'. James had a very black and white view of good and bad and i just don't think it would make sense for James to date reg, esp as he is becoming a death eater. James may be a dick but he is also the biggest ally to ever ally !!
The only jegulus fics I have read are 'Just Lovers' and 'Choices'. Just lovers is a non-voldy au so i don't really have a problem with their dynamic there but choices on the other hand,, oh boy.
Spoilers for 'Choices' by MesserMoon btw (TW for talk of SA):
Regulus' friends rape Mary. And instead of feeling disgusted on the victim’s behalf, (who has been his friend for 5 years) James instead feels upset because it tarnishes the ‘good’ image he has of reg in his head. Thing is when a similar situation happened (The Prank ™), James was upset that Sirius would do such a thing but he also felt disgusted on behalf of Remus. Where was that energy here, huh?? I’ve even seen comments villianising Mary (the rape victim).
The thing I also hate about their dynamic is that it is basically an ally of the oppressor and ally of the oppressed. The problem with that is that when you are allied with the oppressor, you become an oppressor yourself (and reg does; he does terrible things) and that subsequently makes the so-called ally of the oppressed in cahoots with the oppressor as well. This brings so many parallels to real life where people say that they are an “ally” but become friends with/date a racist/rapist. “Oh but they’re nice to me”. its just a little ew.
And in other jegulus canon-compliant-ish fics, sometimes instead of James' character being watered down its Regulus' character. Like, he's not as morally grey, not as complex etc so it makes sense that James would agree to date him. I feel like jegulus as a ship ruins the core of what made their characters so interesting in the first place.
That being said,,, i do love me some canon-compliant unrequited jegulus. Regulus goes to hogwarts, gets so mad at Sirius for ditching him or whatever, but falls in love with the very guy that stole sirius away. He also has internalised homophobia because he's a Black brother so imagine the angst. James potter goes against everything he stands for,, sirius betrayed him,, but perhaps they're right abt smth?? Perhaps he needs to do smth. alone.
sorry for rambling but these are my thoughts on jegulus !! Anyways I feel like I should reiterate that this is a personal preference!! I think it ruins core of these characters, i prefer jily and i love me some unrequited gay pining for the boy who you're brother replaced u with. But this is just a personal preference !
oh and just a side note if it ever led to a decision where james had to choose between sirius and regulus -- no matter how much he 'allegedly' loved regulus, he would choose sirius, no questions asked.

Thoughts on Jegulus?
I’m not opposed in general. Regulus is my fandom bicycle, I don’t think there’s any (human) you could ship him with that I’d be like “no, never”. But I’m picky about it. I mean, I’m picky in general, but there’s a lot of characterizations and tropes that are popular in the Jegulus fandom that are not for me. I’m particular about how Regulus is characterized. I’m particular about how Sirius is characterized. I’m particular about the sibling dynamic. I’m less particular about James, but I have preferences.
I think James represents a lot of negative things for Regulus. I think Regulus would see James as the person who stole Sirius away from him, the replacement brother Sirius picked over him, the infiltrator who seduced Sirius to his blood traitor ways. And I think Regulus represents a lot of negative things for James. James is canonically vocally opposed to dark magic and Regulus is canonically pretty keen on dark magic. Regulus represents the family that rejected Sirius. And I don’t think either of them are very good at holding space for shades of grey. I don’t think those are barriers that can’t be overcome, but that's my default view of their dynamic.
Then there’s Sirius’ role in all this. Sirius is going to be protective of James. I do think Sirius cares about Regulus, I do think he is protective of Regulus in his own way, but he’s never going to see James as a threat to Regulus. He would, however, see Regulus as a potential threat to James. And, you know, fair.
Sirius is simply not going to care about Regulus’ “purity” or whatever. Sirius is pretty oppositional to caring about purity. I just cannot see him clutching his pearls over his baby brother having sex, regardless of who with. But especially if it’s James, someone who he loves and trusts more than anyone in the world.
This is less important to me than the rest of the above, but I am fond of Jily. I don’t need them to be end game, I’m not even sure if they’re cut out to be a long-term pairing that lasts, but I am partial to James having a genuine interest in Lily romantically, at least temporarily.
I will also say that if a fic is well-written/engaging, I will overlook almost anything that is not my typical preference. Because it’s fic, you know. It’s for fun. If I’m having fun, then that’s all that matters.
I would also be remiss if I did not take this opportunity to highly recommend Lethe by @narcissa-black-supermacy: it’s an intense fic and it is so good. I love the dynamics. It is very well written and emotionally evocative. I have so many feelings about it. 100/10
Final note: I have a much easier time getting behind toxic enemies and lovers Jegulus, like
Quidditch rivals who have sweaty hate sex in the changing rooms and never speak of it afterwards
Regulus trying to sabotage the relationship Sirius has with James by seducing James. Important to note, ofc: Regulus is going to fail at coming between James and Sirius
Regulus trying to destroy James (murder James?) in order to have Sirius to himself/keep Sirius from leaving the family and getting super obsessed with James in the process
Regulus trying to get information about the Order through James

The five times James Potter asked you to marry him
(and the one time he meant it)
Pairing: James Potter x Slytherin!Reader
Warnings: 18+, Sexual content, swearing
Word Count: 3.6K
A/N: I saw this done with Fred somewhere but can’t remember who it was that wrote it, so thought I’d do the same with our boy James. There is also a lil bit of smutty goodness within this so please don’t read if this offends you or if you are underage!
One
The first time James Potter asked you to marry him was when he first met you.
Quidditch season had begun and Gryffindor vs Slytherin was the first game, enticing everyone to the stands to watch the two rival teams battle it out. James was aware of the new team members he was playing against, but blissfully unaware of how one of them was you.
Their Gryffindor keeper had just saved a goal from your teammate, throwing the quaffle to James, only for it to be stolen from his grasp before he could blink.
“What the-”
His eyes caught sight of your green quidditch robes as you zipped away, throwing the quaffle for another goal and succeeding as it soared through. The Slytherin stands erupted into cheers, but James could barely focus on it as he was too focused on you.
Shaking it off, James pushed himself to focus on the game again, more determined to score, yet when you somehow stole the quaffle away from him another time, he couldn’t help but laugh.
Had Slytherin finally recruited a decent quidditch player?!
The sarcastic thought barely slipped through his mind before the quaffle vanished from his hands a third time.
“Prongs!” Sirius flew up beside him, pointing his beater’s bat towards him in an accusing way, “stop giving her the bloody quaffle!”
James just rolled his eyes before flying off towards you with the intent to nick it back.
Whilst you easily avoided a bludger that Sirius had hit towards you, James quickly pinched back the quaffle in the split second you were distracted. With a cheeky grin in your direction, he winked and flew towards the Slytherin goals.
After that, it became more of a game between the two of you rather than the actual match. Stealing the quaffle back and forth had you both snickering at the other when they lost it.
With the commentator suddenly breaking the information that the two seekers were in a battle to catch the snitch, James’ attention shifted for just a moment to watch, which was just long enough for you to steal the quaffle away once more, just as the game ended.
Noticing the quaffle no longer in his grip, his attention shot to you where you held up the ball with a grin, winking back at him.
Despite the two of you messing around with each other the whole game, neither of you had said a word to the other. Breaking the silence between the two of you, James couldn’t help but laugh, despite the fact Gryffindor had just lost after Regulus Black had caught the snitch for Slytherin.
“Marry me.” He grinned widely at you as you smiled back just as big.
“Not today.” You snickered, winking at him once more before flying down to join your team.
Sirius appeared beside his best mate with an odd expression on his face, having just witnessed the exchange.
“Am I missing something?”
James just chuckled, but his gaze stayed on you, watching as you cheered along with you team at the win. He wasn’t aware of who you were before the game, but he was very aware of you now.
Two
Despite the fact you were sorted in Slytherin, you didn’t get along with certain members of your house. The common room always seemed to be the hotspot for wannabe dark wizards who publicly shared their common views on blood status and who wasn’t worthy of studying magic.
It was something you didn’t agree with and so avoided as much as you could. This was why you sought your refuge in one of the alcoves off the third floor corridor. It was quiet and you didn’t get nearly as distracted as you would if you had stayed in the common room, or even the library for that matter.
Hearing a loud swear and then the sound of feet pounding down the corridor, you couldn’t help but be curious. Sticking your head out, you had to admit you weren’t surprised to see a panicked James Potter and Sirius Black running down the corridor towards you.
The loud shout from behind them, which could only have come from Professor McGonagall, followed them as it echoed down the hall.
The corridor came to a dead end and the two friends shared a look of dread. Before you knew what came over you, you stuck your head out and whispered to them.
“Psst,” their attention was immediately on you, “in here.”
Stepping out of your spot, the two boys clambered in as you walked down the corridor to come face to face with a furious Professor McGonagall.
“Miss Y/L/N,” she controlled her anger as she questioned you, “have you seen Mr Potter or Mr Black come down here?”
“The two Gryffindors?” You inquired, your face void of anything that would give you away, “not down here, no, though judging from the noise and smell of chaos, I think they went that way.”
Pointing down the direction of the opposite hall, the professor thanked you before turning and storming down it, turning the corner at the end and disappearing from sight.
With a snicker, you turned and headed back to find both James and Sirius with huge grins on their faces.
“Oh, you’re not just a normal Slytherin are you?!” James gleamed, stepping forward, out of the hiding spot.
“A normal Slytherin?!”
“Conniving, back stabbing, selfish.” Sirius listed off, “my entire family’s full of them, but you are different.”
“Glad I could break the Stereotype.” You shrugged a shoulder, before your attention shifted to James. “What did you two do anyway which set off McGonagall like that?!”
The pair of Gryffindor’s looked slightly sheepish suddenly as if they were reluctant to say.
“Uhhh, maybe because we set up a prank for some Slytherins’ to drop honey and feathers on them as they walked through the Great Hall, but McGonagall ended up walking through it instead.” James grimaced at the memory of how furious the teacher was.
“Well that was stupid,” you snorted whilst grabbing your bag from the floor, “she obviously just vanished it. Next time you should definitely add a sticking charm so they can’t just magic it away. Oh and get the right target. As far as I’m concerned, the Slytherin’s that are the biggest dickheads are fair game, deal?”
“Marry me.” James gazed at you like you just discovered the stars.
With a small laugh and a roll of your eyes, your attention was quickly drawn to a piece of folded parchment on the ground which you were sure wasn’t yours.
“What’s this?” You questioned as you caught sight of the front. “Messers Moony, Wormta- hey!”
“Nothing!” Sirius said quickly, snatching it from your grip and tucking it away.
“Yeah because if it was nothing, you wouldn’t just rip it out of my hands now?!” You snickered, “you know if you really don’t want it to be read, you should put a password phrase on it to at least make it look like it’s nothing.”
“Actually, that’s not a bad idea.” Sirius grinned, “you know, you’re not that bad.”
“So I’ve been told.” You laughed back at him, completely missing how James was grinning at you with utter wonder in his eyes.
Three
After inspiring the Gryffindor duo with both the prank idea and how to further the map, you didn’t expect that James and Sirius would rarely leave you alone.
Because of this, you were introduced to Remus and Peter since both James and Sirius had determined you should be friends, especially when you could give them inside knowledge on which Slytherins to go after.
You weren’t sure how to feel about it at first, but after a while it became natural to sit with the boys for breakfast or dinner.
You also didn’t expect to see Amycus Carrow walk through the common room late one evening, mysteriously covered in honey and feathers after relaying a snide comment to you about your newfound friends.
The satisfaction you got from seeing Carrow try to explain there was obviously a sticking charm, preventing him from vanishing the sticky mess to his friends, was so much better than you could’ve imagined. You told the boys that very thing the next day.
It also wasn’t long before James took the plunge and asked you out to Hogsmeade.
The two of you had grown close despite your different houses, yet you both couldn’t deny there was a major attraction between you. (Something Sirius constantly commented on.)
Which was why you found yourself in the Three Broomsticks with James, laughing over butterbeers with story he told you.
“So then Remus enters the room to find it destroyed with Sirius handcuffed to his bed, naked, with only a pillow covering him. And you know what he said, like any other Tuesday? ‘I heard they’re serving Pie for dinner tonight’.”
“I’m telling you, those Ravenclaw girls are devious! Maybe even more so than us Slytherins!”
“Well if it’s any consolation, I would hate to get on your bad side.” James grinned at you, raising his glass.
“I’ll drink to that.” You snickered, clinking your glass with his.
“Well well, I wouldn’t have expected to see you in here with this riffraff, Y/N.” A cold voice was heard from behind you. “Then again, you did always hang around with the wrong sort, a blood traitor no less.”
Turning around, your eyes met the steely blue ones of Lucius Malfoy.
“Don’t call me by my first name like we’re friends, Malfoy. And for the record, at least I don’t associate myself with wannabe death eaters, like your friends.”
To further your point, your eyes flickered over to the group where Malfoy was originally sat, the group containing the Carrows, Mulciber and Snape.
Lucius’ expression was tight, yet both James and you could see the look of hate in his eyes.
“You should leave.” James stood to match Lucius’ height as he rounded the table, effectively putting himself between the two of you. The two men stared each other down.
“And why should I?” Lucius questioned back, his voice cold.
“Because it would be an absolute shame if anyone found out about your midnight visitor the other night. Right, Malfoy?” You questioned with a innocent look on your face.
Standing up and linking your arm with James’, Lucius’ eyes snapped to you as you held his expression with a stern one of your own.
“A Hufflepuff, wasn’t she? And a muggleborn no less. Which is weird because, aren’t you engaged to Narcissa Black? I wonder what her family would think, them being the ‘Noble House of Black’ and all?”
Lucius looked furious, but you held his glare firmly, only for him to step back a few moments later, allowing a space for you to pass. Pulling James along with you, you headed towards the door with a spring in your step like you hadn’t just blackmailed one of the Slytherin prefects.
“Ooh, can we go to Honeydukes? I need to stock up on chocolate frogs.”
James was stunned, captivated and slightly aroused.
Watching you take on Malfoy like it was nothing more than a brain training activity, made him laugh in wonder as the two of you exited onto the street.
You kept talking about the new limited edition sugar quills before you paused, realising James wasn’t really listening to you anymore.
“Hey, you alright?”
“Marry me.”
With a grin, you just linked arms with him again, the two of you heading in the direction of the sweet shop, a growing list of sugary items to buy.
Four
With a groan of pleasure, James pulled you tighter to him as you moaned out his name, your hands wound in his hair making it appear a lot messier than usual.
The two of you had graduated Hogwarts only a few months ago, and after dating for just over two years, James asked you to move in with him once you finished school.
The small flat the two of you shared was found in Diagon Alley, above the quidditch shop, which you wondered whether he had planned or not when he first suggested you view the place. Sirius and Remus had their own flat which the former had bought for the two with the money he had inherited from uncle, after being disowned from his family.
Your small group of friends supported him the best you could, which included Sirius moving in with James and his parents for a while as they finished Hogwarts. Yet, when they entered the final months of their seventh year at school, Sirius insisted he would look for his own place, not wanting to intrude longer than he already had, not that the Potters’ would call him staying with them an intrusion of any kind.
“Fuck, Y/N.” James gasped out as he quickened his pace, thrusting into you faster as you christened the different rooms.
You had both started in your bedroom before moving to the living room, kitchen and then the bathroom, before ending up back in your room once more.
His lips met your own as you pulled him by his neck closer to you, wrapping you legs around his waist tighter, effectively getting James to hit a spot deep within you, causing you to cry out in pleasure.
Quickening his pace, James used his expert fingers to bring you closer to your brink, before you gasped out loudly, quickly reaching your climax. The feeling of you coming around him had James grunting out, thrusting harder to chase his own release.
Gripping your headboard, he came with a groan, muttering your name over and over as he pulled you close to him, both of you basking in the bliss that came from the several orgasms you’d both experienced over the last few hours.
“Marry me.” James murmured into you hair, pressing a kiss to the top of your head.
“Maybe later.” You chuckled, exhaustion now hitting you hard as you both relaxed back in bed. “Too tired now.”
James snickered as he pulled a blanket over the two of you, finding a comfortable position as you curled up together, both utterly content within that perfect moment.
Five
A lot had changed since you left Hogwarts and being inducted into the Order of the Phoenix was just one of them.
Your closest friends were also recruited which both reassured you and terrified you. As much as you were glad that you were fighting on the right side of the war with the people you could trust with your life, if anything happened to any of them, you don’t know what you’d do.
It was suppose to be a small mission, just quick enough to gain intel for the Order which was why Moody chose only a select few of you to complete it.
James, Remus and you, accompanied by Lily Evans, who you had been properly introduced to in your seventh year, were the four chosen for the task. This of course had annoyed Sirius to no end as he hadn’t been picked and constantly moaned about it the few days prior.
Accidentally setting off the taboo alarm, death eaters apparated before you causing the four of you to split into two’s, fighting back to back.
Quickly hitting the three death eaters before you with a stunning spell, you turned and shot another ‘stupefy’ at one who had their wand aimed at Lily. She successfully took out a couple more as she was back to back with you, sharing a grin at how well both of your training had helped you.
Glancing over at James unconsciously, you spotted one sneak up behind him as he was separated from Remus after one death eater blew up the floor beneath them.
With the first spell that flew to mind, you aimed your wand at the advancing threat, shooting a bat bogey hex at them, just as their killing curse missed James by inches, only for him to be hit by a weak confundus charm.
You were certain your heart skipped several beats due to the stress and anxiety as you dropped to your knees next to him on the ground. His nose was obviously broken from one spell shot at him and a dazed expression was present on his face.
Taking his face in between your hands, you quickly got a good look at him to check for more injuries as Lily and Remus stunned the last of the attackers and started to round them up.
“James, can you hear me?”
“Y/N,” he grinned widely, “what are you doing here?”
“Saving your arse from being killed.” You rolled your eyes but couldn’t help the small smile on your face at how dopey your boyfriend looked.
“You always save my arse, I think you quite like my arse really.” James snickered loudly like he had just told a funny joke. “I think you might want to marry my arse. Ooh, I think you should really marry me though.”
You chuckled at him, quickly fixing his broken nose and helping him up.
“It means you’ll have to actually propose to me then, with a proposal better than that, my love.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
James nodded, deep in thought before his eyes lifted to spot Remus and immediately he waved an arm to try get his attention.
“MOONY! I NEED YOUR HELP TO PROPOSE.”
Six
The truth was, as much as James joked about it, and as much as he said it within the span of meeting you, you did not expect it for one moment when he actually asked you to marry him.
Saturday started off as any normal weekend would.
With the promise from Dumbledore to call only if it was an emergency, your group of friends was given the day off and so a plan was set in motion to have dinner at yours and James’ flat. Despite popular belief, James could actually cook very well and so insisted on whipping up a roast dinner for you all, shooing you out of the kitchen when you tried to help.
Sitting around your dining table with your closest friends, you couldn’t have asked for a better day. It was the first in a while where everyone could relax slightly and take the time to enjoy themselves.
Remus and you were in a discussion about a book he had recommended to you, when James entered the room with the meal, putting it in the centre of the table. Whilst Sirius was avidly denying James could cook, Lily and you snickered between you as you watched the boys interact with each other.
The meal went by quickly, everyone enjoying their time together before Lily and you cleared the plates away as a compromise, after James cooked everything.
You didn’t suspect anything going on until you reentered the room to find the boys in a hushed discussion, giant smiles on their faces, jumping away from each other after noticing you return.
“Everything okay?” You asked slightly suspicious as the four boys shrugged off your concerns.
“Yeah, absolutely perfect, wanna sit down?” Sirius wrapped an arm around your shoulders, guiding you to the living room with the others following.
“You’re acting weird, Siri.”
“I am weird, honey, I was born into the House of Black.”
With a smile and narrowed eyes, you decided to ignore whatever secret it was the boys had, and focused on enjoying the time you had together.
It wasn’t until James stood and grabbed your hands, pulling you up from your seat, that you became slightly suspicious again.
“Y/N, if you don’t mind, I’d like to say something to you and all our friends.”
Wrapping an arm around your waist, he brought you closer to him, pressing a kiss to your head. Wrapping your own arm around his waist in turn, you cuddled close to him, feeling absolutely content.
“As we all know,” James began, catching the attention of the small group, “it had been an absolute shock for most of you hear today, that I can actually cook a meal and not poison anyone.”
A round of snickers passed around the group as James rolled his eyes at your reactions.
“We also all know that me being able to cook, is far from the most shocking thing to happen to us all. The biggest shock, was of course, the Gryffindor quidditch team losing to Slytherin when this little minx showed up and stole the show!”
“Here here!” Sirius agreed, lifting his glass of Firewhiskey in agreement.
“Another shock was also when I asked her on a date and she agreed, yet I think that was more Y/N’s mistake than anything.” James chuckled out, now looking slightly more nervous than he did before. “If we’re talking about biggest shocks throughout our relationship, her agreeing to move in with me was another, along with my shock when I discovered what she could do with her tongue-”
“James!”
“Ow! Okay, fine, no bedroom talk!”
The punch to his arm barely phased James’ smile though as he grinned at you so wholeheartedly, you think you might melt on the spot.
“Anyway, one thing that probably isn’t a shock is the countless times I’ve mentioned my intentions to you. Which is why...”
James unravelled his arm from your waist as he quickly caught something thrown at him by Remus, before dropping to one knee in front of you.
You were sure your heart had stopped.
“I’m now going to ask you again, legitimately this time.”
Opening up the small white box, a gorgeous diamond and ruby ring was readily positioned, shining up at you as your eyes flicked from the ring, to James and back repeatedly.
“Y/N, I know I’ve said this before, but please, marry me?!”
Throwing your arms around his neck, you must’ve repeated the word ‘yes’ over and over again as James proceeded to kiss you, before slipping the ring on your finger.
In that moment, surrounded by your closest friends and the man you loved more than anything, you felt the happiest you ever had and wished for nothing more than to live in that moment forever.

Midnight kisses
" Oi! James, Moony keeps cheating! "
Remus smirked, looking at the chess board to figure out his next move.
"Now, now, play nicely children." James said, glancing at Regulus, who was quietly observing.
"Don't play mother just because she's not home!"
"A little women quote! Quite the bookworm." Remus laughed, and everyone else exchanged rolls of the eyes.
"I bet he's just way better than you," Sirius taunted, stretching out on one of the couches, " You know how smart our Moony is. "
Remus' heart fluttered a bit at that, and he shook his head, turning his focus back to his and Wormtail's chess match.
The five of them were at the Potters, and had been for the entire holiday break. They had snuck Sirius and Regulus away, and Remus had secretly rejoiced at this. Not just because the Black siblings were away from their toxic family, but because James' infatuation with Reg meant Remus had Sirius to himself more often. But he would never admit that.
It was the afternoon of New years eve, and they were lounging around the sitting room, spread out comfortably in front of the fire.
Regulus, or Reggie, had been very quiet, and kept to himself the entire duration of their stay at the Potters. At least, that's what Remus thought. What he didn't know, was that Reg and James had been meeting in the hallways at night, accidently, of course.
Peter groaned again, as Remus stole another of his pieces, and abandoned the game to get snacks from the kitchen.
Sirius eat up suddenly, a slight twinkle in his eye.
"You know, Prongs," he began, eyeing Remus (who was rubbing his hip unconsciously) "Muggles kiss each other at midnight."
"What-" Remus blurted out anxiously, looking around the room.
"For new years eve, innit." James said, stealing a look at Regulus.
"And of course you love muggles, don't you, Sirius? " Reg said, with raised brows.
Peter returned, with a plate and packets of snacks.
"No....." Sirius watched Remus push away the chess board, and pick up a book.
"Watcher, Padoot." James said, as wriggling gummy worms hit him in the head.
"Sorry!" Peter squeaked, settling into the armchair opposite.
•••
It was sometime after 11, and they were all back in the sitting room. They had had a hearty dinner, and enjoyed time on their brooms outside, Remus watching.
"I want you all straight to bed after midnight," Euphemia tutted, looking around at the disheveled teens, while Fleamont smiled, "James, you keep yawning, and Regulus looks like he hasn't slept in a week! "
"Mum! I'm fine! And you can't say that about Reggie! That's mean! "
"Reggie?" Peter and Sirius said at the same time, confused.
"Leave them alone, darling. Though your mother is right James, you do seem tired. Remus is the one who should get plenty of rest. Stop dragging him to early morning Quidditch practice, son!"
"He doesn't mind, do you?" They all looked at Remus.
"Uh-"
"I thought you liked seeing me play." Sirius said gently.
"Uh-i - Padfoot is the one who hates getting up in the morning!"
This started a rambling conversation about Sirius' sleeping patterns, and Remus felt glad the attention was off him.
•••
It was nearly midnight, and James' parents were amused by the boy's excitement.
"Reggie!" Sirius yelled, looking out the window.
"Oh merlin." Peter said, distraught.
"Calm down, Pete. It's only the new year!"
Regulus entered the room, and caught sight of James' anxious face.
"Moony! Put that book down, and come outside with us!"
They rushed into the hall, shoving on their shoes in their haste. Fleamont and Euphemia stepped into the cold night air with them, ready to set off fireworks to mark the new year.
"One minute to go!" Peter gabbled, and Sirius kept smirking, as if he was planning something.
"It's bloody freezing." Regulus muttered, annoyed.
"You'll soon warm up." James said, meeting Sirius' stare.
Euphemia patted her sons shoulder, and smiled at her husband.
Time seemed to slow, and Remus focused on Sirius. He felt a bit nauseous, like something dreadful was going to happen.
"Ten! Nine! Eight!" It felt like the whole world was yelling, and Remus felt faint.
James laughed, in a nervous manner, unusual for him.
"Five! Four! Three!"
Sirius turned to face Remus, their noses almost touching. Peter looked at them, mouth open in shock.
"Two! One! Happy New year!"
Regulus grabbed James' face, pausing to check that it was alright, then pushed his lips onto his. Fleamont and Euphemia kissed too, then looked up.
Sparks had been set off from wizards wands, and great big explosions of colour filled the sky.
Peter looked between a blushing James and Regulus, eyes wide. Fleamont ruffled James' hair, chuckling.
Sirius kissed Remus on the cheek, then leaned in to whisper in his ear.
"Happy New year, Moony."

i was listening to happiness by t.s. and i've never thought of it as being from regulus' pov about sirius before ???? (ignoring all the romantic/suggestive lines lol) like agh almost made myself cry driving home from the dog park earlier today haha
so now i've spent 30 minutes annotating some of the lyrics - if anyone else wants to have a good cry about this with me, it's below the cut
Past the blood and bruise Past the curses and cries Beyond the terror in the nightfall
their family situation - especially the night that Sirius was disowned because i think we can all agree that wasn't all sunshine and rainbows
Haunted by the look in my eyes That would've loved you for a lifetime
referring to an interaction between them when Sirius was disowned - maybe Sirius didn't want to leave Regulus behind but felt he had no choice and Regulus didn't want his brother to abandon him but didn't want to leave either
Leave it all behind And there is happiness
Sirius finding happiness after being disowned and living with the Potters
Tell me, when did your winning smile Begin to look like a smirk?
I've always headcanoned Sirius as being a bit of an ass to Regulus after he's disowned (tbf depending on your view of Reg he was also probably an ass lol)
When did all our lessons start to look like weapons Pointed at my deepest hurt?
The "lessons" could be the ideas that their parents taught them to uphold (i.e., blood purity) which Sirius now holds against Regulus. I think before Regulus starts to doubt Voldemort and what their parents taught them, he'd be really confused and hurt by Sirius questioning it all
I hope she'll be a beautiful fool Who takes my spot next to you
James? (Remus?) as the "beautiful fool" that stole his brother
No, I didn't mean that Sorry, I can't see facts through all of my fury You haven't met the new me yet
He's angry at Sirius for leaving him behind and betraying their family but at the same time I see this "new me" as Regulus becoming disillusioned with Voldemort and his ideas. There'd be a lot different emotions and ideas tugging him in all different directions, including anger and grief and betrayal and doubt
There'll be happiness after me But there was happiness because of me Both of these things, I believe There is happiness
I saw this chorus as Regulus' perspective once he's decided to destroy the horcrux/kill Voldemort. I think he would know there's a high chance he'd die ("there'll be happiness after me") but he thinks that by doing the right thing and hopefully succeeding, he can stop a lot of suffering from happening and help his brother find happiness and peace
I can't make it go away by making you a villain
He can't make himself hate Sirius even if he is a blood traitor (before Regulus has his own doubts)
After giving you the best I had Tell me what to give after that
What else can he give after sacrificing himself in an attempt to kill Voldemort? What else can he do to make Sirius forgive him? What else can he do to deserve forgiveness (from himself and/or Sirius)?
All you want from me now is the green light of forgiveness You haven't met the new me yet
Sirius doesn't know/never finds out that Regulus decided to betray Voldemort. I think if Sirius ever did learn the truth about how Regulus died, he would feel incredibly guilty for a multitude of reasons (not bringing Regulus to the Potters with him, doubting that Regulus would ever give up blood purity ideas, Regulus not trusting him enough to ask for help in killing Voldemort, the list goes on...)
And I think she'll give you that
at the end of the day, i think Regulus would just want his brother back :(

Have you ever seen where they get kids to ask the players tough questions and there all dress up and have fake beards and stuff. Maybe you could do that with Jules and Katie asking the team all these really hard questions?????
Thank you for giving me an excuse to spend an hour and a half watching adorable kids ask questions and melt the hearts of celebrities. You’re my hero. There are no fake beards here, but I hope you enjoy it anyway! Sweater Weather characters belong to the incredible @lumosinlove!
“These chairs are so small,” James said as he scooted closer to the table. He nearly knocked Talker over with his elbow as the four of them squeezed in; the two kids on the other side shared a look.
“Ready, everyone?” Dorcas asked. When she received six thumbs up, she turned to the camera with a cheerful smile. “Hello, Lions fans, and welcome to Lion Pride! We have a couple of very special guests today to do the introductions.”
“Hello! I’m Katie and I’m six!” She held up six fingers and all four hockey players melted a little bit.
“I’m Julian, and I’m ten.” He waved, a little shy.
Dorcas smiled. “And how are you two related to our favorite Lions?”
Katie lit up and pointed behind the camera. “That’s my dad!”
There was a chuckle in the background. “Can you tell them my name, mon chou?”
“Pascal Dumais, but everyone calls you Dumo.” She swung her legs and her tulle skirt fluffed out.
“Remus Lupin is my older brother,” Jules said with a grin. “But Finn thought he was my dad.”
“It was an honest mistake!” Finn protested around a laugh. “Cut me some slack, Little Loops!”
“Do you want to do the intros for the guys, too?” Dorcas asked. Katie tugged on Jules’ sleeve.
“Can I go first?” she whispered. When he nodded, she hopped out of her chair and ran to the other side of the table, tapping each player on the shoulder. “This is Pots, Talker, Harzy, and Sirius.”
“Aw, man, I didn’t get to do any of them,” Jules pouted.
“You can ask the first question,” Dorcas said, hiding her smile behind her clipboard. “A quick reminder for our Lions: if you refuse to answer any of these, it means you hate children. Take it away, Jules!”
“Okay.” He cleared his throat and looked across the table with a solemn expression. “How many sticks have each of you broken?”
“Oh, that’s a tough one,” James mused. “A lot, but not always on purpose.”
“I haven’t broken that many,” Talker said. “I’ve forgotten to return quite a few to the rink after games, though. I think I have about five in my trunk that I keep meaning to put back.”
“Maybe…ten? Fifteen?” Finn rested his chin on his hand. “I should start a tally board.”
“Too many,” Sirius laughed. “I need to be more careful.”
Katie wiggled in her seat as she picked up the question card. “Why do you swear so much?”
Matching expressions of shock painted all four players’ faces. “Have we sworn in front of you?” Finn asked in a small voice.
“Yeah.”
“Mon dieu, I’m the worst person on earth,” Sirius murmured as Talker leaned his forehead on the table.
James opened and closed his mouth a couple times before answering. “Uh. Well. I don’t know, Katie. Instead of answering, I’m going to take this time to personally apologize to you and your dad, who is laughing his a—his rear end off in the back, as well as promising to form better habits.”
“If you could be any superhero, who would it be?” Jules asked, seemingly unfazed by the previous question. Wordlessly, Sirius gestured to his Captain America t-shirt.
“Spiderman,” Finn said without hesitation. “He’s the coolest.”
James unzipped his jacket to reveal a Superman shirt. “We didn’t coordinate this,” he said, tilting his head toward Sirius. “But yeah, Superman’s the best.”
Talker thought for a moment. “I really like Hawkeye. Are we talking Marvel or DC here?”
“Anything.”
“Anything? Hmm. I’m going to go with the Flash, then.”
“Nice.” Jules reached over to give him a high-five.
“I got Jules’ approval, everyone else can go home.”
“What’s your greatest fear?” Katie asked, still swinging her legs.
The table went silent. Sirius turned to Dorcas. “Is this the plan? Get us rolling with fun stuff and then give the hard ones to the five-year-old in a princess dress?”
“Yeah, pretty much.”
“Cool. Well, munchkin, I don’t like bugs and I’m not a huge fan of the dark.”
“Vegetables,” Finn said sagely, which sent both kids into a fit of giggles and made all the adults break into sunny smiles. “God, you guys are cute.”
“Pomeranians freak me out,” Talker answered once they had calmed down a bit. “They have those tiny little eyes and sharp teeth.”
James shrugged. “I’m not a fan of heights.”
“I thought you wanted to be Superman?” Jules frowned. “He flies all the time.”
“I think I’d be less afraid of heights if I knew I could fly.”
“So you’re afraid of falling, not heights.”
James looked to the camera. “And now I’m getting psychoanalyzed by a ten-year-old. Uh, yeah buddy, I guess so.”
“Hmm.” Jules looked back to the question card. “Who would win in a fight, you or our moms?”
“Your moms,” Talker said immediately as the others nodded. “No contest.”
“How would we even get in that situation?” Sirius asked. “What the did we do to make the nicest women in the world that mad?”
“Stole brownies,” Katie said with great gravity for one so young. “Mom says you four are the worst about it.”
“Mom wouldn’t even have to fight you.” Jules cocked his head to the side. “I feel like she could just give you a disappointed look and that would be enough. Katie, your turn.”
“Yay!” She brightened again. “What is your favorite cereal?”
Sirius smiled. “Fruit Loops.”
“Cheerios,” Talker said. “They’re good for you physically and emotionally.”
“I’m with Talkie on this one,” James agreed.
Finn gave them all disappointed looks. “You’re so old. Mine’s Lucky Charms.”
“Okay, Leprechaun Boy,” James snorted. Finn reached over and smacked the back of his head. “Hey!”
“Do you ever play hockey at home?” Jules asked. “I feel like Sirius doesn’t have to answer this one since it’s so obvious.”
Finn laughed. “Does tapping a puck around on the carpet with brooms counts?”
“Yeah, that counts.”
“Then yeah, sometimes.”
“I have no space in my apartment to play hockey,” Talker said. “Though I plan on moving someday and then the answer will be yes.”
“I made a rink in my backyard.” James smiled slightly. “Lily likes to skate sometimes while I run drills.”
“My turn, my turn!” Katie scooted her chair closer. “Okay. Out of everyone on the team, what two people would you take with you on a dessert island?”
“Desert,” Jules corrected quietly.
“Desert island. Are there deserts on islands?”
“I think they mean like super sandy beaches with no people on them.”
“Oooooohhh.”
James mouthed a thank you to Dorcas, who gave him a thumbs-up in return. The other three looked at the kids with unbearable softness. “Well, I’d feel awful if I took your dad with me, so I think I’m going to go with Finn and maybe Kasey. We’d have a blast.”
“Nice, dude.” Finn fist-bumped him. “Unfortunately for you, my choices are going to be Leo and Logan, since I already know we could live together without starting a war on the third day.”
Sirius thought for a second. “I think Nado would actually be able to survive on a desert island, so I’ll bring him along, and for the second one…maybe Kasey? Yeah, Kasey’s cool.”
In the ensuing silence, Jules gave him a significant look. “Aren’t you forgetting someone?”
“You’re not on the t—” The realization hit him like a truck; his eyes went wide and he slumped in his seat as the others burst out laughing. “Oh no. Oh, no, no, no.”
“Your own fiancé.”
“Please don’t tell him.”
“He’s gonna laugh so hard,” Jules cackled, leaning back in his chair. Even the camera crew was losing it in the background. Dorcas had to step out of frame. “You’re never going to live it down.”
“Well, the first person I would bring with me is Remus Lupin, because he’s read a lot of books and definitely knows how to survive on a desert island,” Talker said around his snickering. “And then I’d bring Cap, because God knows that would get entertaining after Loops finds out about this. The sarcasm would be off the charts.”
“Okay, next question.” Dorcas came back into view, still grinning. “Jules, go for it.”
“Can I ask Katie’s question again so Sirius can give a better answer?” he asked gleefully. Dorcas hesitated, then shook her head. “Bummer. What was cool when you were young that isn’t cool now?”
“When?” Finn looked scandalized. “I’m 24!”
“Yeah, and?”
“Ugh. Um, maybe Furbies? People were really into Furbies when I was in high school, though I can’t say I’m sorry to see them go out of style.”
James bit his lip in thought. “Tamagotchis.”
“I loved those things!” Talker said excitedly. “My sisters and I used to go nuts with those things!”
Sirius smiled. “Lite Brites.”
Finn’s eyes went wide. “I forgot about those!”
“Regulus and I each had one and we loved them. That was the only thing we agreed on and we used to sit—” He paused for a second to laugh. “—we used to sit in the middle of the ice rink in the backyard, still in our skates and everything, and do Lite Brites for literal hours.”
“That’s so cute, oh my god.” Talker shook his head. “What a nostalgia trip.”
Katie knelt on her seat and rested her arms on the table. “Who skates faster, you or me?”
“You,” all four answered in unison.
Jules rolled his eyes, but he was clearly hiding a smile. “How many push ups can you do?”
“How many can you do?” James countered. A flash of competition lit on Jules’ face and all the guys grinned. “Uh-oh, there’s the Lupin glare.”
“How about we have a little competition?” Dorcas suggested. “See how many everyone can do in thirty seconds?”
“Absolutely,” Finn said. The four of them had a little bit of trouble getting their knees out from under the kid-sized table, but eventually they succeeded and gathered in the middle of the room. “Katie, are you joining us?”
She smiled innocently. “No, I know I’d win.”
“Get ready.” Dorcas pulled her phone out as they knelt. “On your marks, get set, go!”
The guys went easy on Jules from the outset, but they made it look like those pushups were the hardest exercise they had ever done in their lives. Talker took a second to dramatically wipe his forehead and James’ wheezing was almost comical; Jules, however, was giving it his best shot. When the timer finally went off, Finn collapsed with a groan. “I forfeit.”
“Did I win?” Jules panted, pushing his hair out of his eyes.
“You did, congratulations!” Dorcas put her timer away and winked at the camera as they headed back to the table. “Great job, everyone. Katie, your turn.”
“Do you live in a mansion?”
“I live in an apartment,” Finn said.
“Same.”
Sirius shook his head. “My house might be big, but it’s not a mansion.”
“Does a two-story house count as a mansion?” James asked. “No? Then no, I don’t.”
“Who is your least favorite person on the team and why?” Jules turned to Sirius with raised eyebrows. “Are we going to have another desert island problem?”
Sirius threw his hands in the air, speechless, as the other three cracked up. “Jules, can I adopt you?” James begged around his laughter. “Please?”
“You’ll have to fight my mom for that, I think.”
“My least favorite person on the team is James Potter,” Sirius sighed. “Not the person I’m getting married to.”
“We could get married. Lily might mind, though.”
“Full offense, but I know way too much about you to ever consider that.”
James ruffled his hair and turned back to the kids. “My least favorite person on the team is Remus Lupin, because he ran me over in practice the other day.”
Finn side-eyed him. “Didn’t you trip him after he stole the puck from you?”
“He ran me over.”
“Sure, Pots. Um, my least favorite is Kasey Winter. He threw ice at me while we were in the ice baths.”
“Logan took my Gatorade last week and hid it all over the rink,” Talker said. “I’ll never forgive him for such a crime.”
“Oh, I like this one!” Katie exclaimed as she looked at her card. “What’s the best birthday party you’ve ever had?”
“My tenth birthday was at Red Robin and I got a Power Ranger outfit.” Talker grinned. “I was the coolest kid on the block.”
“My eighteenth birthday was pretty fun,” Finn said. “There was a bouncy house and Alex almost broke it because we were jumping too hard.”
“Does it have to be my birthday?” James asked. “Because my son’s first birthday party was awesome.”
“Why?”
“He threw cake in Sirius’ face and a food fight broke out in the backyard.”
“That was a pretty great day,” Sirius agreed. “My last birthday party was my favorite.”
“You spent the night with us!” Katie said happily.
“I did, yeah,” he laughed. “And I had a really good time.”
Jules perked up when he read the next question. “I love this one! Do you have a lucky pair of underwear?”
“Yes.”
“Yeah, totally.”
“Of course I do.”
“Is there a superstition I don’t have?”
Jules looked especially pleased with those answers as Katie picked up her card. “This is the last one,” she warned. “And it’s super important and super hard. What kind of dog would you be and why? You can take your time, I don’t mind.”
“Thank you, Katie, we’ll need it,” Talker said as he desperately tried to contain his smile. “I’ll go first, if nobody minds. I would be a border collie because one, I love them; two, they have a lot of energy; and three, they love making friends.”
“That’s a good one,” she said seriously. “They’re also very soft.”
“Yes, they are.”
Once Finn managed to suppress his quiet laughter, he raised his hand. “Can I go next?” Katie nodded. “I’d be an Irish setter. They have red hair and they’re really affectionate. Plus, I met one the other day at the park and haven’t stopped thinking about him.”
“This was a tough question, Katie, but I think I’m going to go with a golden retriever,” James said after a moment. “They’re good family dogs and they like to be on the ice with those big ol’ paws.”
“That’s what I was going to say!” She beamed at him. “Sirius, you don’t have to go. I already know what you’d be.”
He raised his eyebrows, looking highly amused. “Do you now? Can everyone else know, too?”
“Well, it’s obvious,” she said. “You’d be Hattie. She looks just like you and she gives the best hugs.”
A small puff of air left Sirius’ lungs and he blinked as James reached over and patted his shoulder. “Oh. Okay.”
“That wraps us up,” Dorcas said, looking between them with a soft smile. “Any closing statements from our guest stars?”
“Ready?” Jules muttered to Katie, who nodded rapidly. “On three. One, two, three!”
“Go Lions!” they shouted in unison with matching grins. The camera crew cheered and the players applauded, all laughing.
“Thank you for tuning in, everyone! Remember to like and subscribe for more content.”

Can you please write a fic where James is a rich, star footballer and Sirius comes in to work as his super hott personal bodyguard??? And then James starts crushing on him hard but Sirius is hesitant because he could lose his job over this!!!! Please please please write this... I am a biiiig fan of your work... God Bless❤️
"What? I don't need a bodyguard," James said. The very idea was preposterous.
Coach glared at him, but the rest of the team was slightly more reserved in staring him down. The whole administrative team was there, from the head coach to the team's PR representative. "There have been threats."
"So? I also got threatened when I was seventeen and nothing ever came of it."
The team manager jumped in then. "This isn't a schoolyard threat made because you stole someone's girlfriend. Or- whatever," he said, fumbling a little-- as he always did-- when he said something thoughtless and remembered that James was gay afterwards. That being said, James definitely had stolen some girlfriends at school because it was the best approximation he could get for what attraction to women was. "These are extremely conservative people who want you dead and aren't shy about showing they're serious," the team manager continued. "Even if they don't manage to kill you, they could permanently injure you, effectively ending your career. Is that what you want?"
James huffed, knowing that he was being a little petulant and not caring. "No," he admitted. If he'd been just talking to his mates, he never would've admitted it, but they'd all gotten together to sit him down and make sure he listened to them; they wouldn't have bothered if they weren't seriously concerned.
"Then get a goddamn bodyguard," Coach said. "It won't be forever-- just until these people realise they have better things to do with their time than harass a popular footballer."
"Fine." If James had known it would be this much trouble to come out, he wouldn't have done it. He'd just been thinking that he might like to date someone for real. He'd also thought about himself when he was younger and how he could've figured out that he fancied men before he was twenty sodding three if one of his favourite footie players had been gay (and out. He wasn't discounting the idea entirely just because they hadn't said anything.). "I don't know where to find one though."
"We've got a list of possibilities," someone else said, handing James a sheet of paper-- for the life of him, James couldn't remember what she did, but in his defense, he'd only met her once as an introduction and then seen her in passing at the past six years of holiday parties. On the paper was a list of agencies, their websites, and phone numbers to contact them. There wasn't any mention of price, but it's not like James was pressed for cash or anything. Hell, he'd already reached his lifetime savings amount and didn't really know what to do with the salary he was still getting. Might as well use some of it to stay safe and pacify his bosses.
*
James had weighed all his options and looked at all of the information he'd been given, and he still couldn't decide. He'd handed the list to Remus, and he'd picked one at random; James took his choice as a good decision and called the company up. They made everything so easy for him that he was beginning to think Remus had special choosing powers. From now on, James was going to run his decisions by Remus before doing anything.
And then he actually met his bodyguard. He couldn't decide if this was better than before, or worse. Either way, he didn't think asking Remus for advice would really be the way that he wanted for his life to go.
He was told that his bodyguard's name was Sirius, and they had a first meeting at the company to sort out a few details. If James was a smart person, he would've taken one look at Sirius and said, "Thanks but no thanks, can I get someone else?" But James wasn't smart. He was a dumbarse. A dumbarse that let his heart make decisions for him. Sirius was, in a word, gorgeous. He had a face that looked like it belonged on the cover of a magazine, and a smile that stopped James's breath in its tracks. He was sure that Sirius was good at his job, but James rather doubted his decision to accept him as a bodyguard. He wasn't going to be able to focus for shite.
James explained the situation to Sirius-- the boring stuff, about why he needed a bodyguard-- and he didn't blink at him being bent. Either he already knew that because he followed football, he didn't care, or he cared but was a very good actor. James imagined that there was a certain amount of acting as a bodyguard, but he'd also like to think that Sirius wouldn't have accepted if it bothered him.
James had been afraid that Sirius was going to walk slightly to the side and behind him and stay resolutely silent the whole time, but he carried a conversation alright as they walked to James's car. "I'm sure you get this all the time and you're annoyed with it, but why's your name Sirius?"
The look on Sirius's face showed that he was very much used to the question, even though he didn't look annoyed by it. "Named after the star in Canis Major. Being named after stars is sort of a family thing."
"Really?" James asked. He was instantly charmed. Sirius hadn't even put much effort into it, but James was head over heels after exchanging two words with him.
"Mmhmm. My brother's Regulus, my father and great-grandfather were both Orion, and I've got a cousin named Bellatrix."
"Wow. Your family must've been made fun of a lot when they were kids."
Sirius snorted, and James looked at him curiously.
"What?"
"I wouldn't call any of us... well-behaved children. Got in a lot of fights."
"Ah, and it led to you being a bodyguard?"
Sirius shrugged with an easygoing smirk. "Might as well do something you're good at, right?"
*
"It's total rubbish that they're putting McLaggen in before you," Sirius said one day after practice.
"Right?" Then he paused. Sirius hadn't been around long enough to be so certain of that. Which meant, "I knew you were a fan. Why didn't you say anything?"
"I didn't want to freak you out. You're dealing with enough right now that I didn't want for you to worry about your bodyguard fawning over you."
"Aww, you fawn over me?" James asked, unable to help a pleased smile.
"It's called knowing who the best is," Sirius said with a wink.
*
"You don't get along with your brother?" James asked. Personally, he didn't have any siblings, but from what he understood, those relationships were often complicated. Lily, for example, cared about her sister even though-- as far as James could tell-- she was kind of an irredeemable twat that didn't seem to like Lily at all.
Sirius shrugged. "He wants to like our parents, but now that he disagrees with them on everything, it's not easy. I keep telling him that his life would be easier if he stopped talking to them, but he feels all guilty about it." He rolled his eyes expressively. "I think he thinks that he owes them for them not being worse."
"You both should get new parents," James said. "I volunteer my own."
"I think you stop needing new parents when you're an adult."
"Words that can only be spoken by someone with shite parents. Maybe you don't need parents anymore, but if Regulus is still trying to connect with them, it means he needs someone. My parents are great. Mum will probably see him smile once and then demand he come to Saturday night dinners for the next ten years."
Sirius snickered.
"Oh, I'm not joking," James insisted. "Lily and I haven't been together since we were eighteen, and she still comes over for dinner when she can make it."
"Only you would be on such great terms with your ex that your parents would do that."
"Bold of you to assume my parents wouldn't have done it whether we were on good terms or not. They blood adore her, and that didn't stop because we weren't dating anymore. I swear, they love every single friend I let them meet. If I introduced them to your brother? He wouldn't make it out of that house without them knowing his favourite dessert. He wouldn't stand a chance."
"Maybe that's what he needs," Sirius said, sounding amused. "We'll have to set that up when this all blows over."
*
James's first problem with Sirius had been that he was so gorgeous James couldn't think for shite. His second problem with Sirius was that he was an attractive person all around, not just in his face. Honestly, who had decided that someone should get to be that pretty and also be that funny? It wasn't fair to the rest of humanity.
He'd never been shy, so he told Sirius that he fancied him shortly after figuring it out. Thinking a bloke was fit as hell was one thing. Actually fancying him was quite another. People were fit all the time, and James had never lost sleep over it. He knew he'd regret it if he sat around and pined after Sirius uselessly though.
He told Sirius, and Sirius looked at him for a second, then blinked. "Erm. James, I can't- I could get fired for dating a client."
"Right." That made sense. "I hadn't thought of that." He really hadn't thought about it, but who'd want to hire a bodyguard that had a history of hooking up with who they were protecting? Hell, the company could get looked into for solicitation if it happened often enough. If James had thought of that, he would've kept his mouth shut until the end of Sirius's employment with him. "Just... y'know, if you were interested, I'm probably not going to need a bodyguard for much longer." He'd checked back in with the admin team, and they'd said that by next year, he should be good. New information was popping up on people that James's despisers hated more, so they were starting to leave him alone. At least, that's what he'd gotten from the conversation even if it wasn't entirely accurate.
"I know," Sirius said with half a smile. "I was there for that conversation, remember?"
"I'd forgotten," James admitted, a little ashamed. He wasn't the best at paying attention to several things at once when he really cared about one of them more than the others. In that case, he ended up thinking about the one thing and trying desperately to pay attention to the rest. That day, he was pretty sure he'd been so focused on getting his life back to normal that he'd ignored Sirius, and even the talk about their upcoming game.
*
"Bloody hell," Sirius said, one arm around James as he half-carried, half-guided him down the street so they could catch a cab. "I signed up to be your bodyguard, not your designated driver." Despite his complaining, he didn't sound upset, more amused.
"You could be both," James said slowly, having to put more effort into his words than usual since he was sloshed. He preferred speaking Hindi when he was pissed; it was just easier than English. He didn't think Sirius knew Hindi though, and the only thing he wanted right now was to enjoy Sirius's company.
Sirius laughed. "Maybe so, but I preferred just doing one."
"Heeeey, you could do the partner thing soon."
"I don't remember mentioning a partner thing."
James licked his lips as he tried to remember what the phrase he'd first used was. "Designated driver. Only, instead of just dragging me to a car, we'd be getting sloshed together."
"That does sound more fun."
James was always talkative, but now that he was sloshed, he wasn't stopping. He really liked Sirius. He liked him for lots of reasons, but right now he liked that Sirius was encouraging him. He wasn't getting mad at James for continuing to talk all through the cab ride, or as he helped him up the stairs to his flat. "You're so wonderful," James mumbled.
"Thanks," Sirius said with a laugh. He fished around James's pockets for his keys. James turned and rested his head on Sirius's shoulder, which did make it easier, but somehow he thought that wasn't what James had had in mind.
"You're so pretty," he said, turning his face into Sirius's neck.
"Thanks," he said again. "It's nice to be appreciated."
"In all my life, I've never met someone that made me feel like you do," James said.
"I don't know what you just said, but I'm going to assume it was complimentary."
James nodded. He kissed Sirius's neck because it was there. "The prettiest damn thing I've ever seen."
Sirius swallowed thickly. He didn't need to understand the language to know that whatever James said was something he would appreciate. The kiss sent tingles down his spine, and James's mouth was still resting close enough to him that Sirius could feel his breath hot against his skin. "As much as we would enjoy that, I thought we agreed to wait."
"You're right. You're just so pretty," he whined. "It's really not fair. You should try to be less pretty; it would make my life easier."
"You can live with it," Sirius said. He finally found the keys and put it in the door for him. He unlocked it and pushed the door open. James looked pretty comfy where he was, and it made shuffling him inside his flat a bit harder than getting him here had been. "C'mon mate, you've got to get in bed."
"But you're not there," James said, sounding awfully petulant about it.
Sirius chuckled. "No, but you'll get to sleep just fine without it."
"That's what you think."
"Love, you're drunk enough that you'll definitely pass out before the night's through."
"Aww, you called me 'love'. No one's ever done that before."
"Really?"
James nodded again, but since he wasn't leaning on Sirius as heavily this time, he swayed a little. Sirius was still right next to him though, so he was able to keep him from falling over. "My last boyfriend called me 'babe' but I sort of hated it."
"You do seem like you'd prefer the sweeter pet names. Sweetheart, things like that."
"Feel free to call me sweetheart as much as you want."
"I think I will. After I stop working on protecting you, that is. We've still got to wait, remember?"
"What I remember is issuing an invitation that never got an answer."
"I assumed you knew my answer. Or was I not obvious enough about my interest?" Sirius asked quietly.
"I would say that subtlety passes me by," James said. "But I got it now, thanks. You sure I can't convince you to stay?"
"Not while I'm working for you, and definitely not while you're sloshed." Sirius brought him to his room and took off his shoes when he collapsed back on the bed. "If you want to get undressed more, you're going to have to do it yourself, sweetheart," he said, then kissed James's forehead. "I'll see you tomorrow."
*
The day for James to no longer need a bodyguard felt like it took forever, but he could grudgingly admit that it had been a good idea. None of it had been serious, but he was told-- by Sirius-- that that's because having a bodyguard was often a large deterrent. In his time as James's bodyguard, Sirius successfully intimidated several people and got physical with one. James would be lying if he said that it hadn't been hot to watch, but he also wasn't going to say that out loud-- it made him feel like he was the heroine in a teen adventure book.
"So, do I have to take you on a date before I get to kiss you?" James asked.
"I wouldn't want you to think I'm easy," Sirius replied with a wink.
"You like curry? I know a good place."
Sirius made a face. "I only like it from one restaurant, and it's all the way up in Wales."
"Wait," James said slowly, a smile creeping across his face, "are you talking about Andi's?"
"Yes, you know it?"
"Bloody love it. I can't make the trip as much as I want, but if you're willing, we can definitely go up there."
"I can think of worse things than spending time with you on the way to the best curry in the UK," Sirius said.
*
James rented a car because it was easier than taking a cab that far, and it was definitely more private than a train-- which would only be able to take them part of the way anyhow. He wanted for them to be alone anyways, so that they could catch up on all the flirting they'd missed. Not to say that there had been a drought of flirting while Sirius was his bodyguard, but after they agreed to date when his contract was up, they'd tried to tone it down.
They didn't have to worry about that anymore.
The drive was okay, dinner was great, and Sirius snogged him for a bit after they got back in the car but before they drove back to London.
"How the hell do you feel even better than you look?" James whispered, stealing another kiss.
Sirius chuckled. "I was about to ask you the same question, love."

Farewell Revenge - pt. 7
A/N: Now we’re getting somewhere
XX
Sirius Black had a secret.
He had you in his eyesight with a smile on his face when his best friend jogged to you and wrapped his arms around your shoulders, giving you a kiss on the cheek.
In front of everybody, your whole house but it didn’t bother you for a second because you cared more about James than you ever did about your house reputation. Ravenclaw was never much on discrimination anyway. A lot of Ravenclaws have broad perspectives that was why they had never looked upon house discrimination. They didn’t believe in it. They knew better. They knew that they had more important things to do than have pride and ego.
They genuienly did not care.
Sirius Black on the other hand? - Well, Sirius wasn’t pleased with the idea of his best friend being with someone he was curious about.
He was happy for James. He really was because James had never been this happy with anybody. He was never this gentle, so exposed to everything than he was with you.
Sirius noticed the giddy smile on James’ lips when he came back from you. He noticed that his smile couldn’t disappear, only grow whenever he daydreamed about you. He came back without a breath, like an 8 year old boy that seemed to shine light everywhere. Sirius knew James was an open person and he knew James was, especially with him, extremely opened with his emotions but he knew. He didn’t know how he knew, he just had a gut feeling that when James was with you, he was more himself with you than he ever was with Sirius. James showed you his raw emotions, all of his thoughts and Sirius, as happy as he was for James, he was also jealous.
He walked with you to class. You were only two classrooms further away but the time he spent with the two of you, he wanted. James had Quidditch practice, which always excused him from Astronomy class, lucky bastard.
You stepped in front of him, quirking an eyebrow. “Are you mad?”
“Mad?” he asked confused. “Why would I ever be mad? Because of the nose thing?”
“I dunno. You’re quiet.”
“Is that a crime?”
“No but if you ditch class with me, it might.” your lips turned into a grin as your eyes screamed with mischief.
He stood there for a while. Of course, he would do anything to ditch Astronomy class but with you? - He cleared his throat. “Why would I want to ditch class with you?”
“So we can talk this rubbish through, make amends and not make James so uncomfortable when all three of us are together.” you said without a pause.
Sirius narrowed his eyes in suspicion. “For James, huh?” he scoffed, placing hands on his hips and contemplating. “You must really love him if this is all for James?” he turned his gaze on you, burning inside until a blush crept on your cheeks.
“The word ‘love’ is still.....” you tried to think of the correct way to express yourself but stood quiet instead.
Sirius raised his eyebrows, analyzing your facial expression until making a final decision.
---
You threw yourself below the linden tree, furthest from the lake and nearest to the forest so the two of you won’t be seen. Sirius threw his bag on the ground beside the treat next to you and sat down.
Facing him with a cross sitting position, you chuckled. “Afraid I’ll punch you in the nose again?”
“Hilarious, aren’t you.” he mocked and gazed upon the lake. “When James told me you and him started dating, I wanted to throw you to the Squid.” he said calmly and you laughed.
“I feel like you still want to.”
“I do.” he shrugged and looked back at you.
“I appologised for the Regulus throat grab.” you shrugged. “And you know you deserved the punch.”
“Yeah but that’s what I don’t get. Usually, a witch would just use her wand and hex me, yet you just punched me like a Muggle.”
“Sometimes, you don’t need to be a witch or a wizard to stand up for yourself.” you said. “And I couldn’t think of a good hex at the scene.”
“I thought you were a Ravenclaw. Don’t you all have perfect memory or something?”
“We do. I didn’t know which hex to choose, so I used the hand instead.”
He sat quiet, obserivng.
Here was the thing, he didn’t believe you. Not a single line. Not a word.
“You said you had a sister.” he said, plucking the grass with his hand and tearing it apart with his fingers.
“Why do I feel like I’m being interrogated?” you tried to joke around but he kept his face turned away from you, frown on his lips.
“You wouldn’t feel like that if you had nothing to hide.” he said, eyes still upon the lake.
“I don’t.”
He felt the lie through your teeth. He couldn’t know how but it was as if he felt it reaching his bones. “Why isn’t she here?”
“She studied in a different witch school.”
“Which one?”
“Durmstrang Institute.”
“Why didn’t you go there?”
“Not enough money for the both of us.”
Sirius finally looked into your eyes and he could see the secrets behind them. You lied like a petty little thief, who stole but never got caught.
“How come I have never heard of your family?”
“I never heard of yours either.” you replied. “The Black family might be familiar to all Great Britian but surely it isn’t popular and known all over the world.”
“You’re getting defensive.”
“God, Sirius stop trying to get something out of me!” you started to get furious. “Of course, I have secrets! I have a lot of secrets that I don’t want anybody know! We all have secrets that we don’t want anybody to know!” you were standing up, closing your eyes and trying to calm yourself down. “You would get defensive as well if somebody tried to drill inside of you for personal information that are none of their business. You’re not James, Sirius. I won’t tell you these things. You won’t know my personal life until I tell you about it. Just because we both love James does not mean you get to know what he gets to know.”
He didn’t look away this time. He plucked the grass and tore it, finally , for the first time, he smiled. “Yeah.” was what he said.
“Yeah?” you perplexed. “Yeah what?”
“You’re right.” he looked up at you. “I don’t get the right to ask you those questions just because I’m James’ best friend. I guess, it just isn’t fair you knowing so much about me, Regulus and my family and me not knowing anything about yours.”
You continued to look at him, observe, analyze. He smiled but the smile wasn’t really there. It was a wall. A wall he had built all his life.
So as much as you wanted to get out of this situation before, you stayed and sat back down. There was silence, soft and calm. He plucked his grass and tore it up and your hands only played with the ends of it.
“My dad’s a drunk.” you said, looking away from his eyes to which you were aware were not watching you. You knew because you couldn’t hear the grass being torn from the ground anymore. “When you’re a kid, they can convince you that all the wrongs, all the insecurities and unfortune is for you. They say that it’s your doing, your power.” you glanced back up at him, then back at the grass. “Some kids had the opportunity to grow up in a home where they could fall asleep feeling safe.” you wrapped the grass strings around your fingers and pulled it hard from the ground. You gritted your teeth a bit and gazed upon the shimmering lake. “I fell asleep when I was sure that he was home and asleep, not being able to do what he did anymore....after he did it.” you pulled another pack of it and started tearing it with your fingers. “And you’re a kid... you’re just a kid and you know you can’t do anything, so you feel helpless. You’re a coward and worthless and you think that if you weren’t ever born, you wouldn’t go through this but you go through it anyway... and you’re too coward to stop it or end it.” you looked up, your eyes completely dry and tearless.
He was speechless. You didn’t lie. Your eyes were too raw to tell him you lied. “What are you saying?” he asked instead.
You smiled... but not really. It wasn’t a realy smile to him. “I’m saying my dad’s a drunk.”
“Did he hurt you?”
“He never laid a hand on me... but he might as well had. “
“That was what you meant when you said you would never leave your sister. Not like I did.” he lowered his head, tore the grass and turned his sight onto the lake.
“He never laid a hand on me because he had my sister and he never laid a hand on my sister because he had my mother. Mothers were supposed to protect their children, Sirius and my mother did until she left.”
He watched you, simply there in the shadow and he thought everything else that he didn’t before. He thought that you must be the exact opposite he thought of you before.
“When you grabbed me by the throat, I wasn’t intimidated but when you told me that I didn’t love Regulus enough to save him from there, I started to hate you.” he said, plucking the grass again which was getting less dense where he sat. “It’s not because I really did hate you but because you said I didn’t love him enough to save him. The truth was, he obeyed, he did as he was told all the time. I thought he would be taken care of just as he was when I was there but the truth was, I knew. I knew he wouldn’t be okay, I just wanted to believe that so badly. I wanted to believe that because I couldn’t believe that I was a coward. I do love him, more than my own life and if I could, I’d change that day.” he sighed out. “I can’t though.”
“No, you can’t.” you said, looking at him as he locked his eyes with yours. “Let him believe you love him, Sirius.”
“He doesn’t even want to look at me.”
“He doesn’t have to.”
“I don’t know.” he mumbled and this time, you prefered to be quiet.
Your fingers drifted to the ends of the grass, gently brushing against them as you smiled. Sirius seemed to notice that smile, which made him believe he could trust you a bit more that he did before the two of you came together. “So you love him.” he said plainly and you looked up, redness spreading fast up your ears.
“What?” you mumbled.
He let out a soft laugh. “You said we both love James. I think the word ‘love’ isn’t in question anymore for you.”
Yes, Sirius Black had a secret. Many of them. You knew he had them just as much as you did but you were not aware, nor even had the slightest feeling that his secret? That secret changes everything.

Is that REGULUS BLACK we can see entering the Ministry of Magic? Our records tell us that they were born on 19 OCTOBER and are an EIGHTEEN year old, PUREBLOOD who currently works as UNEMPLOYED. Some have said that they can be described as being CALCULATING, POLITE & SCRUPULUS, however, they also see themselves as being ZEALOUS, NAIVE & JEALOUS. Apparently, HE looks a lot like THOMAS DOHERTY, whoever that is, and if they had to pick a side in the war, they would choose to join THE DEATH EATERS.
hi hello, i am notoriously awkward in these but i’m asbury! 26, she/they pronouns (either works, i’m not picky) and est! this is a bit long and i definitely did go overboard but please enjoy this absolutely dumpster fire of a kid! i apologize in advance if he’s an asshole to and/or tries to stab your character.

Can you do 204. “Is there any reason you’re wearing my shirt?.” With jegulus?
I can indeed my dear anon but you will have to forgive me because this fic went WAY out of my control. The majority of this fic is some well deserved Regulus/Sirius brotherly love and bonding, and the Jegulus bit doesn’t come in till the last tiny part. I hope ya’ll don’t mind I got really into it oof. I almost wanted to make it LONGER but this is supposed to be a mini fic. No idea how long it ended up being and frankly I do not intend on finding out any time soon, yeet. Enjoy!
204. “Is there any reason you’re wearing my shirt?”
Mr. and Mrs. Potter were on holiday for the next three weeks, that’s what Sirius had said the night before, but even if they’d been there they would have welcome Regulus inside with open arms.
“Mum probably would have scooped you up and started crying, actually,” Sirius had said with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes, and Regulus stayed silent in the chair he’d taken, deciding not to comment on the way he called Euphemia “mum”.
It was a long time coming, Regulus told himself, keeping his eyes closed as he remembered the events of the previous day and night. It had been one of those rarely seen blistering hot days where the clouds were missing and Regulus was trying to survive summer alone at Grimmauld Place with Kreacher his only companion. His mother and father were busy with their own things as Regulus wandered from room to room, stopping to stare at photographs and ancient paintings, always finding himself standing in front of Sirius’ old bedroom door. A hand lifted as he traced where his full name was set against the wood in elegant lettering, dropping it to tap his fingertips against the doorknob but turning away after some thought.
That happened a few times, stopping at his brother’s old room and contemplating if he should go in or not. Eventually he did, but he didn’t realize it would lead to so much happening all at once. He wanted to step inside the bedroom, flick on the light and stare at the still messy sheets on the four poster bed canopy bed and the Muggle posters pinned on the walls. There was still clothes on the floor, dropped there with books still open, even his desk was still a cluttered mess. Regulus wandered over to it, automatically trying to tidy things up, straightening papers and quills and righting ink wells that had spilled and dried over the wood.
There was an old photograph tucked in the corner of the desk that Regulus narrowed in on, reaching out to trace the edges as he watched a much younger version of Sirius hugging a younger version of Regulus. Back before Hogwarts, back before Gryffindor, back when they were still brothers. Regulus would never admit it, but he missed Sirius. He was nineteen now, if memory served him. Regulus was seventeen and had just graduated from Hogwarts, suddenly feeling the crushing weight of loneliness and wondering what he was supposed to do next.
Death Eaters were coming and going from his house like party guests, there were at least three there every day, and every time they saw Regulus they would smile with menacing intent. Regulus hated it. He didn’t know who half these people were, but they looked at him like he was fresh meat. Especially the Lestrange brothers. Especially Rabastan. It made Regulus physically sick when the older wizard would wrap a slow arm around him, leaning close and grinning.
“You’re growing up so fast, Reggie! About time you join the ranks soon!”
What was he supposed to do about it? Say no? Regulus knew it was coming, knew they were planning to talk him into joining the Death Eaters. He was already a “supporter” like his parents, but he’d yet to go on missions, he’d never spoken to Voldemort or even seen him in person, and his forearm was thus far clean of any mark. The longer he was there, exposed to Death Eaters and pureblood maniacs, the more he started to realize he didn’t want to be part of it. Yet what was he supposed to do? Run away like Sirius? Where was he supposed to go? He had no friends, no one who would take him in. The Potter’s would never. James would never. Sirius certainly wouldn’t.
James. Regulus had to lift his head and stare out the window in front of him, out into the backyard, as his mind inevitably wandered to that infuriating bastard who stole his brother. He’d always had some interest in the Gryffindor, ever since the first time (the only time) Sirius wrote to him from Hogwarts. “His name is James Potter and he’s my best friend!” Who is he?
Regulus’ curiosity and intrigue grew when he was in school and met James, saw him for the first time, and even more when he started playing a Seeker in Quidditch. Every time they were in the air playing Gryffindor their eyes would meet across the Pitch, James would grin that cocky little smile of his, and Regulus would feel a million different things jolt through him that pushed him into wanting nothing more than to do better than James, to win the game just so he could hold the Snitch and give James Potter a smirk of his own.
It seemed after all these years, even though he hadn’t seen James since their graduation, the intrigue was still there. What made James Potter so special? Why did Sirius love him and cherish him so much? Because he was funny? Because he fed Sirius’ need to rebel? Maybe because he could protect Sirius? That’s what he was doing after all, that’s what he’d done the summer Sirius ran away and went to the Potter’s. James had been protecting him ever since. Regulus hated him for it, hated them both.
I want to be protected too.
“Regulus!” his mother’s voice came up the stairs and Regulus shut his eyes before turning towards the door, stepping out into the hall and down the stairs to meet her.
He didn’t remember most of the conversation, perhaps he hit his head too hard, but when Walburga set a hand on his shoulder, manicured nails digging in, saying, “I think it’s time we call the Dark Lord to initiate you as an official Death Eater,” his vision went white in shock.
Everything after that happened in a blur, the conversation of “six month trial to see if you’re worthy to take the mark” and “we’re so proud” before he felt his lips trembling apart with a cracking, “I won’t do it.”
Then yelling, confusion, screaming, a wand at his throat, Walburga cried and Orion grabbed him by his arm and shook him so hard he jarred Regulus’ shoulder. Then the first hit. Regulus didn’t know what he’d said to entice the attack really, but he did remember thinking about Sirius, so he probably brought him up. Regulus didn’t know what damage had been done to him, just remembered curling his hands around his wand, the taste of iron on his tongue as Walburga shrieked.
“You have nowhere to go! Regulus, reconsider! You’d make us so proud, this is the right path!”
Regulus had felt so betrayed with those words, so done, spitting blood and snapping, “I make my own path.”
His mother sobbed. “You sound like-! You sound just like-”
“Sirius,” Regulus breathed the name, lifting his wand. “I know.”
Then a crack and his vision blurred as he disapparated from 12 Grimmauld Place. When he landed he was disoriented, legs giving way and sending him crashing onto the earth as he panted hard, eyes wide and staring off to the side, his cheek against the dusty ground. His arm was burning, his body shaking as pain tingled at the end of every nerve. The Cruciatus curse spat at him by his mother, the fists and flat hands that had beaten bruises into his face and chest by his father, exhausted but in too much pain to sleep.
What had he done? He’d defied his parents, rejected the Death Eaters, rejected Voldemort, rejected the mark. Why? In a spur of the moment feeling of adrenaline and anger? He was an idiot, and now he had no idea where he was or where he was supposed to go, bleeding out on the ground and breathing in dust.
He tried to figure out where he was as he struggled to his knees, wand still in hand and staring dizzily around the area. After a moment he looked down to check his injuries, noting that his left sleeve was soaked through with crimson. His right hand trembled as he reached over to check what had happened, his stomach rolling when the sleeve came away sticky. It hurt too much to pull it down over his arm, so he just peeked down the sleeve to see a chunk of flesh had been taken out of his forearm. Splinched mid-apparation. He coiled forward, clutching his stomach and vomiting as his entire body shook and tears forced their way down his face.
He couldn’t stay there on the ground, someone could find him, so he wiped his right arm over his mouth and staggered to his feet as he cradled his left arm against his stomach and stumbled to the sidewalk just paces away. He seemed to be in a cozy little community of cottages and houses, squares of light shining from windows and the sky pitch black above. If it was already night, he’d probably argued with his parents for a long time.
There was a house across the little street that Regulus squinted at, finding himself drawn closer to read the nameplate in the dark and lighting his wand with a hitching breath. Potter. This was Potter’s place. Sirius was there.
Regulus only doubted that he would be allowed in for a moment, the pain blinding any sort of fear of rejection as he fumbled to open the gate and staggered through, letting it shut as he dragged himself up the walkway and to the front door, vision blurring a bit before he managed to make out the wildly pretentious lion knocker staring him in the face. He used it, banging it a few times before stepping back and nearly falling off the front step, clinging to his left arm and staring at the gold and red Welcome mat at his feet.
For half a moment he was worried no one was home, that he would end up blacking out there on the front porch leaning against the door, but after a moment he heard the distant sound of muffled steps, then the lock disengaging. Regulus silently reprimanded whoever it was for opening the door without checking first to make sure it was safe, they were in a war after all, but he lost the nerve to speak when he lifted his head and his eyes met mirrors of his own.
Sirius looked good, healthy, older than he did last time Regulus had seen him, staring at Regulus with wide, shocked eyes, like he wasn’t so sure what he was staring at. Regulus thought he’d never say anything, he’d frozen in place and would be a statue forever, but finally he opened his mouth.
“What the fuck?”
“Sirius,” Regulus’ voice was rough, for a moment he wondered if he’d been screaming. “I… do you by any chance have bandages in there? Or a healing tonic? Possibly some Dittany?” Sirius just gaped at him, and Regulus squinted when his vision blurred again. “Preferably now before I pass out, if it’s not too much trouble.”
Sirius let go of the door and reached out to steady Regulus, and though he wasn’t exactly gentle, his hands didn’t hurt or bother any of the injuries as he brought Regulus into the house, helping him stumble over the door jamb before shutting and locking the door behind them. He put an arm around Regulus, which was unexpectedly comforting and intimate, leading him down the eerily silent hall and through a door that lead to a washroom.
Sirius kept the bathroom door open as he lead Regulus to sit on the closed toilet, then pulled his wand and cast a silencing spell around them, sticking it behind his ear once he was done and reaching for the cupboard under the sink. He seemed to be moving on autopilot as he started pulling out vials and packages of bandages and gauze rolls.
“Take your shirt off. Where are you bleeding?”
“Where’s Potter?”
“Sleeping. Take your shirt off.”
Regulus had to move slowly as he started undoing the front buttons down his white shirt. Now that he was inside under lighting he could see how much blood was on him, his entire left sleeve was scarlet, and he hissed through his teeth as he shrugged the silky fabric from his shoulders, pulling his right arm free before starting to slowly peel it down his left. Uncontrolled tears spouted from his squinted eyes, his hands shaking as he managed to get the fabric halfway off his arm before his vision blurred again, the edges going black so he had to swing his right arm to the side and cling to the side of the sink to keep from slipping off the seat, panting and dizzy.
“Let me.” Sirius dropped what he was holding and stood in front of Regulus, crouching and taking his left hand, giving a firm squeeze, maybe to keep his arm in place, before pulling his wand from behind his ear and muttering a quick spell that unglued the sleeve from the gaping wound that spilled fresh blood when the covering was gone. “Bloody hell, Reg,” Sirius grit out roughly, squeezing his hand tighter and reaching for one of the vials he’d put on the sink. “What did this?”
“I… splinched, I splinched myself apparating.”
“Aren’t you supposed to be better than that?” Sirius asked, unscrewing the top of the vial and drawing out a long glass dripper.
Regulus winced from the pain as he started dripping Dittany directly onto his arm, his stomach roiling again when the missing chunk of flesh started to rapidly regenerate. Regulus turned away, clinging to the sink counter again and hiding his face in the crook of his right elbow, begging himself not to throw up.
“I didn’t think you’d help me…”
“So why’d you come here?” Sirius asked sharply, he seemed completely unaffected by his brother showing up beaten bloody.
Regulus swallowed, tasting bile. “I had nowhere else to go.”
“I highly doubt that,” Sirius scoffed. “I’m certain our precious parents would have seen to your every whim had you come home like this.”
Regulus took a breath. “Where do you think I’ve just come from?”
Sirius paused, as if not expecting the question, giving Regulus’ hand another firm squeeze that he held as he spoke softly. “They chased you out?”
Regulus shook his head. “I left.”
“You left? You actually left?” Regulus bobbed his head in a weak nod. “Why?”
Regulus pressed his lips together. How much could he even tell Sirius? They weren’t close, not like they used to be. Hell, had they ever been close? He felt out of place there, everything made no sense, he was scared. He’d run away from a choice his parents were making for him, one he didn’t want. He ran like a coward instead of facing what he was so afraid of, but he was still afraid.
“They wanted me to join the Death Eaters,” Regulus finally managed to speak, forcing the emotion out of his voice despite how his entire body was still shaking. He blamed it on the extensive blood loss.
“So you ran away?” Sirius sounded skeptical, and Regulus felt suddenly infuriated.
After everything he’d been through in just a few hours, on top of all that his brother was going to sit there and patronize him, not take him for his word, when he could be hunted down by their lunatic cousin with a hard on for Voldemort and slaughtered where he stood simply because he rejected the Dark Mark?
“Yes, I ran away,” Regulus snarled, turning his head to seeth at Sirius. “Cowardly Slytherin Regulus Black ran away, let’s laugh at how fucking pathetic he is!”
“Easy, I’ve finally gotten the bleeding down, don’t break the skin again!” Sirius snapped, moving his hand from his brother’s fingers to instead grab his wrist, pinning it straight so he could get a few more drops of Dittany on Regulus’ arm. “It’s going to be tender and fragile for a while, you hit it too hard you’ll start bleeding again!”
When it seemed like Regulus wouldn’t be jerking away, Sirius released his wrist to return the Dittany onto the sink counter, then wet a rag under the sink faucet to clean the rest of the blood off Regulus’ arm.
“I didn’t want to,” Regulus said in frustration, without prompting. “I didn’t want to join them. I don’t want to torture or kill or rule over Muggles, I want to be left alone!”
“Regulus,” Sirius draped the cold rag over Regulus’ arm, squeezing it and meeting his little brother’s eye. “You did fine.”
Regulus felt speechless for a moment, confused. “Fine?” His head was pounding, and there was a painful tightness behind his eyes and in his nose.
“Yes, fine.” Sirius turned his head back down and continued to clean off the blood. “Tell me what happened, without screaming. I put up a charm but you might still wake James up.”
Regulus was far too tired to argue about James, shoulders sagging as Sirius moved his attention to washing the blood off his face, one hand holding his chin to wipe the rag over his chin and lips, gentle against the already scabbing cut in his lip.
“Mum and dad called me downstairs and said it was high time I join Bellatrix beside the Dark Lord. Something about her pulling strings to get me closer to his inner circle and get the Dark Mark.”
“And you said no?”
“Yeah…”
“Then what happened?”
Regulus stared past Sirius blankly. “I don’t remember,” he admitted. “I remember bits and pieces, but I think I hit my head, or I blocked it out because I just… had to, to protect myself.”
“Mum crucioed you,” Sirius said, checking the red marks left over on Regulus’ chest and down his ribs.
“Don’t tell me you’re surprised.”
“It made sense when she went after me, but you?”
“It was a natural reaction to her son saying no to her will.”
Sirius looked furious at that, grabbing Regulus by the arm again. “Regulus, look at me. That woman is our mother, and a mother does not hurt her children, she does not torture her children like she did to you, to both of us. A mother protects her child.”
Regulus felt immediately uncomfortable, and he wasn’t sure why. “She did protect us-”
“She was happy to ship you off to Voldemort like a present with a red bow, all those two wanted was for you to be perfect so they could get on that monster’s good side,” Sirius interrupted, reaching out to a particularly nasty bruise on Regulus’ side, hovering a hand over it to heal it. “If those two beat you for saying no, that is a problem, and you need to understand that. This is messed, Regulus. This isn’t right. They did this to you.” He leaned back on his heels, looking up at Regulus. “But I’m proud of you. You said no, and even if you said no for your own self interest, you still said no. I didn’t think you had that in you.”
“Because I’m a coward.”
“Because you’re young, you were raised in a prejudice house and didn’t have anyone there to guide you towards the light where you belong.”
“And whose fault is that, really?” Regulus asked, wanting to smack Sirius. “You know there’s only one person who could have influenced me more than our parents. I wonder where they were when it actually mattered?”
Sirius looked angry for all of four seconds before exhaustion and shame took over, reaching forward and leaning up just enough to wrap his arms around Regulus’ shoulders, one hand against the back of his head, completely unexpected. “I’m right here, you little bastard. I’m here when it matters.”
“Only after I’ve spilt blood for my cowardice,” Regulus said after the shock of embrace had worn down.
Sirius just squeezed Regulus tighter, then shook his head as he stood up. “Take a quick shower. I’ll go get you some clothes to sleep in.”
Regulus felt startled. “I’m staying?” He asked, watching Sirius move towards the door before stopping and looking over his shoulder.
“Got nowhere else, right? If you can depend on me for anything, it’s this.”
“This isn’t even your house.”
“Mum and dad are on holiday for the next three weeks, and James won’t mind. Just try and relax, you’re safe here.” He grabbed the doorknob on his way out and slowly closed it, sticking his head in through the crack and waving his hand. “Go, take a shower and get the rest of the blood off. I’ll grab you clothes to sleep in and bandage you up.”
“Fine,” Regulus agreed, his voice shaky, waiting for the door to shut fully before looking down at his arm where the splinched chunk of flesh had been healed for the most part. The bit of skin there was now scarred and noticeably paler than the rest of his skin.
He tried not to think anymore, getting to his feet and shucking off the rest of his clothes before stepping straight into the shower and turning the water on to the hottest it could go. He was rough as he washed his hair, scrubbing soap over his body to get the flaking blood off, flinching every time he hit a bruise or an open cut or scratch. Maybe he cried a bit under the water, maybe he didn’t, and when he stepped out of the shower to dry off, there was already a pile of folded clothes waiting for him.
He found Sirius waiting for him in the living room that was a little too homely. It was notably lived in, books still open on seats, old cups filled with cold tea that hadn’t been taken to the kitchen yet, and clothes draped over couches. Sirius was on the couch with vials of medicine, tins of ointment, and packs of bandages on the coffee table in front of him.
“Take a seat.” Sirius waved beside him, tearing open bandages. “I’ll wrap your arm up and such, then you should eat and drink something and lie down.”
It was long and silent as Sirius spread ointment over the tender scar on Regulus’ arm, then wrapped it carefully before bandaging the rest of Regulus’ cuts, scratches, and deep bruising before bringing him a mug of tea and a hastily made sandwich.
“I brought down a pillow and blanket, unless you want to sleep in my room with me?”
“What for?”
“I just figure after a night of getting your arse kicked,” Sirius quirked an eyebrow instead of finishing, but Regulus just glared at him, turning and grabbing the blanket before yanking it up. Sirius just sighed and set everything down, turning. “Suit yourself, but don’t blame me if James traipses down here and wakes you up at six in the morning.”
“Bitch!” Regulus yelled, throwing the blanket back and standing up. “You’re sleeping on the bloody floor!”
“S’my bed, Reggie, you can have the floor. Bring the tea at least.”
Regulus cursed as he grabbed the blanket, pillow, and tea, stumbling after Sirius and trying to keep his mouth shut as he followed his brother up the stairs and into a bedroom just at the top of the steps. Sirius cast another quick silencing spell, but kept his voice low regardless.
“James’ in the room down the hall to the left, the loo is on the right, don’t get those messed up or it’ll be strange for both of you.”
Regulus just glared at him, walking over to the right side of the bed, not stopping even when Sirius gave a noise of protest.
“I normally sleep on that side.”
Regulus threw his pillow down and set the still untouched tea on the bedside table. “I’ve just been beaten into the dirt by my own parents, you’re really going to whine over what side of the bed I take?”
Sirius grumbled in irritation but said nothing more, shuffling to the left side of the bed and flopping onto his back, leaving the covers off while Regulus dragged the sheets and duvet up over his head. For a while they were both quiet, until Sirius sighed and rolled his head to the side.
“Reg, look… I’m sorry for leaving you there. You know that, right? I’m not trying to make an excuse to make you forgive me or anything, I just need you to understand that when I left you I… I didn’t like it, okay? I don’t hate you, you’re my brother, and if there’s anything in my life I regret it’s the way I just abandoned you, and I am sorry.” There was no response, so Sirius huffed. “You’re already asleep, aren’t you? Sod you, then, sod my apology.”
He rolled onto his side, turning his back to Regulus and punching his pillow into place before flopping into it. Regulus, despite what Sirius thought, was actually awake, peeking out from under the duvet to stare at the wall and urge himself not to cry. It took longer than he wanted, but the anxiety finally faded and the exhaustion had him gratefully passing out curled up under the covers and feeling almost safe.
Sirius was still fast asleep snoring into his pillow the next morning, but Regulus barely spared him a glance as he struggled to sit up. Though it was the morning after getting smacked sideways, it was like he’d just been beaten. His entire body hurt, he felt as if he’d been struck by the Hogwarts Express, and standing up almost had him falling onto his face, but he managed to limp his way to the door, fumbling into the hall and dragging himself towards the loo, freezing when he lifted his head at the same time as James, who was wandering towards him from the other end of the hall, hair sticking up from his pillow and glasses lopsided, eyes bleary with sleep and yawning as he rubbed his shoulder.
Regulus found himself completely stuck to the spot, staring at James, who was shirtless with dark red pajama bottoms hanging low on his hips. Regulus’ cheeks burned as James met his eye, pausing and squinting, not so much angry as confused, like he didn’t recognize Regulus at first. After a moment, though, his eyes seemed more awake, sweeping over the younger wizard curiously.
“Is there any reason you’re wearing my shirt?” He asked, and Regulus gaped at him before lifting a hand to grab the front of the shirt he was wearing, looking down at it and feeling absolutely petrified when he realized it was an old Quidditch jersey with the name Potter printed on it.
“I… Sirius…”
“Gave you my shirt instead of his? Ah, maybe grabbed it from the clean laundry. That’s what I get for not putting my clothes away.” He was acting a little more casual and friendly than Regulus expected, and he nodded at Regulus. “What happened to you, anyway? How do you know where I live? What’s with the excessive bandaging? Get in a fight?”
Regulus still felt speechless and confused, trying to figure out how much he could say despite his anxiety twisting in his stomach. In the end he managed to speak, because this was James’ house after all, and if Regulus was going to be hiding there, at least until he knew what to do next, then he deserved to know what was going on. Regulus was nothing if not polite and respectful when he needed to be.
“I… last night… got kicked out.”
James looked dumbstruck, eyes as wide as saucers. “Are you serious?”
“No I’m Regulus.”
It was an immediate response that Regulus didn’t think would have any effect until James threw his head back laughing loudly. He strode forward once he’d gotten a hold of himself, reaching out to squeeze Regulus’ shoulder, gently and barely touching Regulus as if he was afraid to hurt him.
“Oh yeah, you’re fun. You can keep the shirt by the way, looks good on you.”
He passed Regulus once he was done, and Regulus continued on to the loo as James knocked roughly on Sirius’ door behind him.
“Alright, Pads, wake up, let’s make breakfast! We’ve got three to feed and I’m not eating that Muggle oat pudding crap Remus sent us again!”
Regulus shut the door once he was in the loo, pressing both hands flat against it before backing away, looking down at the shirt again and curling his fingers into the front of it, just under the name. It was odd, but somehow through his pounding headache Regulus got the idea that Sirius absolutely gave him this shirt on purpose.

Or You Can't Always Get What You Want
Song -
"...at length" count - 18
IS THIS THE BOOK FRANK BUYS? The potions book that Alice needs!? --I'm wondering if it was Luke that stole the Volume 14 Progress in Potions to save Logan or it was it already missing.
"Smart girls, ye be warned," she murmered to no one in particular. "The enemy is multi-lateral."
- so, i don't know what this means but it sounds nice and dramatic
Ira the Cat mention number 4!!! Here Lily doesn't want Ira stuck in the bathroom, which is fair enough.
Alice and Frank talking actually makes me so :)
"Of course there was a reason! The reason was that I was an idiot B-but, Alice, you never were anything except perfect. Really." He met her eye. Her heart skipped a beat, and her stomach flipped nervously. "And even though I got-mixed up... for a bit there... I only ever really wanted y-you."
- AH FRANK!!!--he GOT HER THE BOOK!
OH MY GOD ITS THE PRANK!!
“'Difference is, I'm not a coward and a blood traitor… oh… and I'm not practically broke, either. I'm not relying on charity.”
“I'm the coward, Regulus? At least I'm not afraid to stand up to my Mummy."
"You broke her heart."
Sirius snorted. "She hasn't a heart to break."
"Well, now I know where you get it."
- I can't remember if it's canon or not that Sirius and Regulus were really close when they were younger and then it all went down hill when they were sorted into different houses, but I really like that so yes, that's what happened... But the idea that they both still really care for each other and just put on acts to pretend they don't when they actually talk to each other because they both think the other doesn't care. I hate it but it's so good.
"You're on the losing side, Sirius. It'll get you killed one day."
"Probably," Sirius agreed, sneering. "I just hope it gets you killed first.”
- I hate it. Regulus using Alphard against Sirius was too harsh too, jeez.
"I'm not afraid of you anymore, Sirius."
- I probably laughed a bit too much at Sirius launching Regulus into the wall trying to give him a bruised rib but the image I got in my head was so funny and the way its written just had me laughing.
Sirius smiled weakly. "You two are idiots."
Me crying over James and Peter trying to cheer Sirius up.
FALSE ALARM IT WAS NOT THE PRANK! (I keep getting ahead of myself how embarrassing)
"Is that that dreamy auror who was here at the beginning of the year?"
LATHE IS BAAAAAACK!!!!!!!!!!!! and i cheered!
"Miss Evans-er-hi," the auror said uncomfortably.
- I may have already said that is but I am obsessed with how awkward he is. That could be the root to my love of his character, I don't know. He's just the best.
“How do you have all this information? These death eaters-they wear masks, and they don't leave many witnesses, do they?"
Lathe paused thoughtfully over the question, before replying: "Let's just say there's someone with a very dangerous job-and because of that person, we know things like this.”
- THIS has be intrigued, I feel like there is a purpose to this because otherwise it wouldve been random to throw in... so who is it? Kingsley?--OH MY GOD. I BET ITS JAMES'S MAM or something. I interrupted my own thought there. But either I a forgetting or this plot point wasn't revealed and I am Curious.
Logan said he would 'need an extra wand in a few months' and my mind went straight to the fateful day of November 2nd? Oh my god, imagine if Luke was there though... and then Lily found out... and then that has something to do with the prologue?!
- Why is this me trying to figure out plot points/make up theories for an abandoned fanfic that was last updated almost a decade ago.
“One more thing…" She paused. "That Luke of yours… he told me he had seen his brother, that the two of them had talked about his father's sickness, and that you had met him. That's all he told me." Lily waited to see where this was going. "I showed Luke his brother's file, too.”
- eeeesh. "I'm not saying he's heartless," Lathe continued. "I'm saying be careful." ...is Lathe a muggleborn? I feel like I remember reading Lathe is a muggleborn. And a Ravenclaw. Which is neither here nor there, he is my favourite.
"I don't make apologies, because I don't believe in them. I don't believe in regrets or mistakes. What happens, happens, and I think that other people's inability to handle that is their problem, not mine."
- I am so curious as to where the idea of Carlotta Meloni even came from? She is some character but my god is she annoying.
"I'm sorry-I'm sorry for hurting you, and for trying to ruin your relationship, and for trying to convince a boy who's in love with you that he's not."
- OOP.
I am in Love with Lily Evans.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAMES POTTER!!
"Prongs, mate," slurred Sirius, clapping his hand on Jame's shoulder. "N'joyin' your party?"
"Well you clearly are," replied the other, who held a goblet himself. "Where are you headed?" Sirius pointed at the blond. "Ah... the ironically named Chastity Cristaline."
- 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀bro. Sirius being described as "well on his way to unconsciousness before the fireworks had even started" too. He is really going through it and honestly, it's sad to read... at least he finally told James about Alphard though!
"You're all bloody planks," said James irritably. "I'm sodding rich-ya think I'm-a let ya starve, Moony? Same with ya other two swots. Ya can live in one-o my six millions houses, s'long as I don't have to see ya too much."
"Oh, Prons," sighed Sirius, laying his head on James's shoulder. "Ya care."
"Ergh-gerroff me!"
..."Anyway," James continued eventually; "y'know you won' be poverty... err... in poverty. 'Cos I'm rich. An' as for your 'is-o-lation,' Mr Moony.... we.... are the Mar'ders. An' even though Padfoot's a lairy headcase, an' Wormtail's a soddin' lightweight, an' you get all sen-a-men-al 'bout the moon, Moony, an' I am too good for the o' ya-none-us-us... is-a-ever... goin' to be... isolated. Now gimme that bottle mate."
- awwwww but ouch because he dies.
"Frank Longbottom, you stop right there!"

I am re-reading The Life and Times
And it is getting documented. Purely for my own benefit.
The Life and Times by Jewels5
She was dramatic. He was dynamic. She was precise. He was impulsive. He was James, and she was Lily, and one day they shared a kiss, but before that they shared many arguments, for he was cocky, and she was sweet, and matters of the heart require time.

Book Smart, not Street Smart (Remus Lupin x Sirius Black)
In honor of Pride month, here’s some fluffy Wolfstar goodness.
It was Remus’s third year at Hogwarts and so far everything was going as usual; some of the first years looked absolutely petrified at the possibility of being sorted into the wrong house and some of the seventh year Gryffindors looked ready to snatch some of them up, and make them Gryffindors themselves. Remus idly paid attention, waiting patiently for the actual feast to start. He made small talk with some of his fellow Gryffindors, laughing as his friend Lily tried to hide herself from one James Potter.
“You know Rem, I’ve never been so thankful for your towering height until now… move a little to your left and I’ll be golden.” She whispered.
“Only if you give me your stash of chocolate frogs.” He bargained.
“Deal.”
And so the rest of the feast went without a hitch, Lily was well hidden thanks to Remus and the two of them caught up. Soon enough they were both making their way towards the Gryffindor tower, Lily went ahead spotting her friend Marlene as Remus took his time walking towards the painting of the Fat Lady. He stopped dead in his tracks as he heard shouting, it wasn’t like Remus was trying to eavesdrop but he couldn’t help but hear the small squabble going on by the Gryffindor common room.
“Well at least our parents will finally have a son whom they’re proud of!”
“Sod off, Regulus! Why don’t you go back to your fellow slimy snakes?” A black haired teen said, enunciating the last bit of his sentence, both boys were glaring at each other so fiercely that Remus could’ve sworn that one of them was bound to make the other combust right there and then.
“At least I’m not a blood traitor.” The younger of the two said before turning on his heel and walking away from the older boy before the later could say something back.
“Come on, Sirius, your brother’s not worth it.” A third voice spoke up, patting the tall boy on the shoulder as he sighed, grumbling something that Remus couldn’t make out.
Sirius Black… he thought as he also made his way into the Gryffindor tower and towards the boy’s dorms.
His first day of lessons were uneventful, it wasn’t until the second day that things took an unexpected turn.
“Alright class, this term I’ve decided to switch up your partners, you’ve known each other for what, 2 whole years? It’s time to learn how to work with someone new! So please gather your things and make your way towards the back of the class as I read off the new pairs.” Slughorn announced, as he made his way towards the front to pick up his clipboard.
“Potter and Evans…” Remus stifled his laughter as his friend Lily began complaining to Slughorn about her seating arrangement. Slughorn only had 6 students left to partner up, himself included.
“Let’s see here…ah yes, Lupin and Black, and please Mr. Black, don’t set your partner on fire this time around.” Slughorn warned. Remus’s eyes widened as Sirius chuckled before saying, “I make no promises Sluggy.”
The first lesson with his new one was an odd one, from what Remus could tell, he was going to have to be the brains between the two of them. Sirius was sitting there, doodling, adding the wrong ingredients and stirring too harshly. When he scrunches his nose up in concentration he looks quite adorable…Remus thought before shaking his head and going back to chopping the daisy roots needed for the Shrinking Solution.
They finally finished making the solution, well Remus did, he began bottling it up as Sirius cleaned up their area. Remus handed it to Slughorn just as class was dismissed, he made his way back to his seat to collect his book bag but before he could leave the room a hand stopped him.
“Hey, thanks for doing most of the work, Merlin knows I need all the help I can get.”
“It’s no problem, thanks for not setting me on fire.” Remus said timidly, trying not to blush by the physical contact and close proximity.
“Nah, you’re too cute to be set on fire.” Sirius said with a wink, exiting the room and leaving a blushing Remus behind.
Weeks had gone by and now the two of them were close friends, Remus was even friend with James as well, which earned a glare and the nickname of ‘traitor’ from Lily but Remus would laugh her off knowing that she okay with his new found friends. But as the days went by, his crush on the dark haired lad was getting deeper and deeper. It wasn’t only him that noticed it, James and Lily had two. Both Remus and Sirius would make up excuses just to spend more time with the other, from “I just need help with that potions essay.” To “Sirius just stole a tray full of sweets from the kitchen and I need to try this Belgian chocolate.” Their friends were already making bets on just when they would actually start dating because quite honestly it was exhausting seeing them pine for the other.
“What if we just lock them in the room of requirements? They wouldn’t starve or die in there…”
“No, Remus is too smart to be lead into a trap… although we could probably lure him in there with a chocolate trail…”
“This is not some Hansel and Gretel shit, come on Potter, think.” Lily said, turning down another one of his ideas. They stopped talking as soon as said pair walked into the common room Remus carrying an armful of cookies and other treats.
“Merlin! Did you rob the house elves at wand point?” Lily laughed as he saw Remus struggling to balance everything in his arms.
“Not quite, Sirius baked all of these when he went home this weekend.” Remus said with a smile.
“Yeah, you know as a thank you for doing most of the work during Potions.” Sirius added, blushing slightly.
“But we had a textbook lesson last class… we didn’t make a potio-“ James didn’t finished his sentence since Lily elbowed him to stop him from talking.
“Well, as much as we want to stick around, James here has to help with the Quidditch try-outs. Come on, James.” Lily said, dragging a confused James from his seat and out of the common room.
Remus and Sirius sat in a comfortable silence as Remus ate his sweets. After a couple of minutes, Remus finally broke the silence.
“You know, James is right, we didn’t brew a potion during our last lesson, it was a straight off the book lesson. So what’s the real reason you made these cookies?” Remus asked, raising an eyebrow and looking intently at Sirius.
Sirius gulped, shifting uncomfortable in his seat and clenching his fist, Well here goes nothing…
“For someone so smart you’re actually quite dumb.” Sirius started, making Remus choke on the cookie he was eating.
“I beg your pardon?” he coughed out.
“I’ve been flirting with you for the last month and nothing! So this is my grand gesture, I know you love chocolate, quite honestly I hate chocolate but for you I’m willing to spend an afternoon being glared at by my weird house elf, and make you some chocolate frogs and chocolate chip cookies.” Sirius confessed, leaning back on the couch, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
“You ought to be nicer to old Kreacher…” Remus pointed out, a playful smile on his lips.
“That’s beside the point! What I’m trying to say…REMUSLUPINWILLYOUGOONADATEWITHME?” he said, screaming the last part out so fast that if it wasn’t for Remus being used to decipher Sirius’s and James’s fast and loud rants when they were planning a prank, he would’ve been lost.
“Yes.” Remus answered.
“REALLY?”
“YES! I’ll go on a date with you, now stop shouting, you’re going to scare the first years off.” Remus laughed, grabbing Sirius’s hand with his own as Sirius fist bumped the air with his other hand.
Weeks had passed since their first date and soon enough everyone in Hogwarts knew that they were a couple, the cutest couple if anyone were to ask. They bickered constantly because let’s face it, Sirius was like a toddler on crack, and Remus had to constantly make sure that he wasn’t endangering his life or that of the others around him.
Remus, Sirius, James and Lily were all lounging around the common room, Remus was reading a book, Sirius was sitting next to him, aimlessly twirling his wand between his fingers, James was playing with a snitch and Lily was finishing up her History of Magic assignment.
“So mum invited you to dinner this weekend.” Remus spoke up, glancing at Sirius briefly as he turned a page in his book.
“Hm, really? Alright, I’ll bake her something, what’s her favorite flower?”
“Yellow peonies and orange daisies.” Remus answered with a smile.
“Well I hope she’s ready for a dozen of each.”
“You guys are too cute, how come you don’t try to get on my mum’s good side, huh James?” Lily asked, a playful smirk on her face.
“I’ll bring her flowers next time…” James grumbled as Lily ruffled his hair.
“I need to make a good first impression.” Sirius shrugged.
“Aw, but it’s not the first time you’re meeting my mum.” Remus said.
“Yeah, but it’ll be the first time I’ll be meeting her as your boyfriend.” Sirius replied with a lazy grin as he booped Remus’s nose, causing the lanky boy to roll his eyes playfully at him.
“Are you fucking serious?” James chuckled.
“I am, I thought you knew.” Remus said, nonchalantly as Sirius fell off the couch laughing.
“Oh fuck you Lupin.” James said rolling his eyes.
“Sorry mate, that’s my current job and I don’t want to be unemployed.” Sirius answered back, between laughing fits.
“You guys are the worst.” James grumbled out, as the rest of the gang kept laughing.
Things at Hogwarts will certainly remain interesting with that power couple around.
