because of r7 being released, I remembered my three Alien Stage OCs, from left to right: ONE, MYEONG, and WYNNE

The three of them are “siblings”, adopted by the eccentric Miss Ictina, a bird-type Seygin who is a well-known artist and fashion designer for both Seygin and Pet Humans. (The name Ictina comes from Ictinia, which is a genus of birds for North American Kites.) ONE and MYEONG were adopted as a pair, despite them never having met prior. She liked the contrasting color and “saw” them as artistic foils to one another-black and white, green and pink. WYNNE isn’t much younger than them (they’re depicted here as ONE and MYEONG being about 21-23, and WYNNE is 18-20 ish), and Miss Ictina adopted him after seeing him at an adoption event for rich Seygin. WYNNE was made in the same genetic lab/breeding program that LUKA was. WYNNE is definitely her favorite of the three (boy mom) and in her eyes, he can do no wrong. WYNNE is so good at singing, WYNNE is a perfect little model. Even when they’re all grown up, WYNNE is still very carefully controlled on a collar and leash. This has led him to be very ignorant of the world around him, similar to MIZI. WYNNE is a model, instead of an idol like his “sisters”, and is often seen in Miss Ictina’s latest designs. While WYNNE did attend ANAKT GARDEN, he is not entered into ALIEN STAGE because Miss Ictina doesn’t want to lose him.

ONE and MYEONG on the other hand, are often pushed to be the best, and it still isn’t enough. While they too act as models for Miss Ictina, they’re never allowed to be in separate concepts. They’re a pair, and often pitted against one another. Miss Ictina thinks this way they’ll both grow beyond what other pet humans are capable of if in direct competition, but instead they come to resent one another deeply. Both feel that as long as both of them live, they won’t be able to be their own person. So when Miss Ictina decides to sign one of them up for ALIEN STAGE, they demand to both be entered, so they can truly finally be rid of one another. It’s the only time they’ve ever agreed.

ONE is more reserved, with a voice best suited for ballads. She was assigned green as a kid by Miss Ictina-to match with her eyes and “sweet” nature. As a child, ONE was very affectionate to Miss Ictina, but slowly pulled back once WYNNE was in the picture. She was a top student during her time at ANAKT GARDEN, beloved by caretakers, but only a handful of other students being her friends or liking her. She focused more on getting better to one day surpass MYEONG.

MYEONG, on the other hand, is the more outgoing of the two, with a powerful voice suited for pop punk. Assigned pink as a kid by Miss Ictina due to her more “aggressive” nature. She has a hard time expressing her emotions now because Miss Ictina has carefully trained her and ONE to become similar to one another in actions for their “double act”, making them perfect, compliant models. Her grades were all over the place in ANAKT GARDEN, but always enough to pass. The caretakers didn’t like her that much, but she was popular with other students because she was good at athletics and games. She had a habit of trying to sabotage ONE, but it didn’t work.

They’re entered in the 27th season of ALIEN STAGE, and ONE and MYEONG only face one another in Round 7-the Finale. It’s one of the highest-rated seasons of ALIEN STAGE, due to the hype around the idea of a ONE VS MYEONG showdown-the two had a very dedicated fan base prior as models, and many in the media had been pitting them against each other for years. It was an EVENT, think like Barbenheimer levels. People were changing social media profiles, betting, and showed up in outfits depending on the girl’s color. Miss Ictina saw a huge increase in sales.

The outfits they’re drawn in in the right picture represent their R7 outfits, and WYNNE is wearing what he did in the crowd.

ONE wins, and as she watches the light leave her sisters eyes, she realizes she’s lost the one person in the world who could possibly understand her. She’s gotten everything she’s ever wanted, but she’s alone. She and MYEONG hated each other, but she was always there. She’s finally surpassed MYEONG, at a terrible cost. The last thing she says to her sister is “I’m so sorry.”

WYNNE takes it hard, he likes both of his sisters, but now one of them is gone. WYNNE has never really understood what happens when one of his classmates in ANAKT GARDEN disappears suddenly-but now he does. He breaks-he can’t look at ONE the same anymore. ONE can’t look at herself the same anymore. She doesn’t know who she is without her other half.

Miss Ictina adopts two young human boys the next year, starting the cycle over again.

Kind of funny when fanfic writers have Tim figure out Dick’s identity by seeing Robin do a quadruple flip in person, because DC writers didn’t even think of that back when they were trying to make it a rule that Robin couldn’t be seen on TV so the Batfam could be urban legends. They just still had Tim see Robin do a flip on TV and never tried to explain how Robin could be an urban legend and still have his exploits broadcasted on TV by professional news media.

I know some of us like to pepper Gaelic endearments into our ghostsoap from time to time and I thought hey! Maybe I should finally share my little headcanon as to how Soap even came about knowing the language in the first place:

I like to think that his granny (who raised him and his siblings) was from the Inner Hebrides and grew up using it. She moved to the lowlands after marrying, became a Gaelic-medium teacher. Thus, Soap attended the school she taught at and had a Gaelic-medium education throughout primary. (Gme students are taught completely in Gaelic from p1-p3 with English being incorporated later.) While not continuing it in secondary, he still had a fluent adult at home keeping the language fresh in his mind. That’s. The bare bones of it anyway.

Anyway I wanted to share this because I’ve seen the occasional person say it’s ridiculous to suddenly see him speaking Gaelic in fics (which is a very fair point of course. few people are immersed in it, it remains a threatened language) but the thought of someone who wanted to include it in their work who then might not because of this is disheartening. Should they do the proper research beforehand, it is plausible when given the right ingredients.

It’s a language that should be celebrated, not discouraged, especially given the history. Having a character know it just really depends on the different factors you throw into their backstory. Even if the author doesn’t explain it, it should then be up to the reader to assume he’s not just pulling the language out of thin air. Idk, if call of duty fanfic of all things can expose people to Gàidhlig and garner interest in some to learn a bit of the language, I just. That is a good thing

I hope Jorge keeps the streams up until the next live stream like he did with the last Saga.

I had trouble getting into Epic: The Musical without the visual aid of the animatics as visuals help me absorb the material. I kinda wish he would upload each song with the lyrics and animatics in them instead of just the animatics by themselves without the full song, but maybe that’s just me. I’m an audio and visual gal otherwise I have trouble absorbing information. Besides the streams there’s no current way to watch the musical seamlessly with actual visuals and yet it is called a musical. A medium I’ve kinda expected to have visuals by this point, that was my one big criticism going into this series was “so it’s just songs? And I have to watch the script as I listen to know what’s happening? That’s hard to keep up with.”

Though if this is a consistent change going forward of having the full musical with visuals until the next iteration premiers, then great & honestly my only criticisms are a lack of trans voice actors (seemingly but I could be wrong) and a lack of fat characters in the animatics because Aphrodite was fat in her depictions throughout history in the very least. Which I’m not even sure if this counts as a criticism so much as an observation and something that gives me a bit of pause? Again, not series ruining, but just more an observation I guess?

That being said, I’m super excited for the Vengeance Saga tonight! Probably gonna stay up just to watch it! Sleep be damned I wanna see it as it comes out! 💜

Edit: Okay actually not risking tummy issues by napping and can’t stay awake any longer. If I have tummy issues I couldn’t even watch it as it premieres anyway because I’d be fighting for my life in the bathroom. ANYWAY DON’T GO ATTACKING ANYONE INVOLVED WITH THE PROJECT, I WAS JUST MAKING AN OBSERVATION.

It’s been said before and the fact that I’m an Izzy simp aside like having a character who survives the most certain death shit ever (shooting himself in the head at point blank) and literally being nicknamed by another character “indestructible” and then become a symbol of protection for a whole group of people die from a fucking bullet to the side that was established in universe to have no vital organs in order to “atone for his sins” or however you wanna spin it and have him say he wants to go after (see point one) literally trying to kill himself in the show that is literally about growth and betterment of the self in a cruel world that wants you dead and where the main (and mostly queer) characters survive the most batshit insane injuries is like COSMICALLY stupid writing like I don’t even understand how you get there and the fact that it’s supposed to be a kind/ happy/meaningful ending is beyond me

Yayyyyy Mitori my beloved!! Also Takane’s theme has been the sleeper hit of Unconnected Marketeers for me. And also Nitori’s there. Due to there being Three of Them and just personal motivation weirdness this took like a whole week and I didn’t have the energy to do much personal interpretation of their outfits & hair like ppl often do when drawing Touhou characters; followed the reference too closely on that as usual. But fun fact about turtles! I had trouble finding much documentation on this, but [some?] turtles have a dark line across their eyes that helps them see better horizontally and their eyes turn so that the line is always parallel to the horizon

seeing the reactions to this latest chapter I can’t help but to think back to the first post-war arc and remember how little was ever addressed then too.. like dgmw I enjoy all these characters and think horikoshi is insane for trying to juggle so many but in the end he kinda like. Cannot handle it all. maybe he could if he didn’t waste time on silly things.. like I get that he’s trying to uplift the story in the end but it kinda falls incredibly flat with so many anxious questions looming and a rapidly approaching finish line…

one thing i LOVE about lucius is how he always tries to give good advice to ed and stede after the breakup(s) even if that kinda leads into separating them. in s1, after stede leaves ed on his own, lucius tells him that moving on is the best thing to do, and now in s2 he tells stede that sometimes toxic people aren’t really “fixable”.

he’s no trying to get them together at all costs, he’s just helping out and giving some genuine advice that could make them less miserable

not to expose myself as a Hamilton fan but I wonder if the season 2 ending of SAB is leading Alina to the same kind of sentiment as “winning was easy, governing’s harder”. How many times was Alina told that tearing down the fold wouldn’t solve all her problems? So much of her behavior was singularly focused, and now that she’s got these added responsibilities of being expected to help lead (on top of the effects of using merzost), I wonder if she’s going to realize that she doesn’t want this life forever. And that’s how she’ll find her way to an ending that’s more along the lines of the books
