Xenoblade games are hands down the best I've ever played. I cannot get over the art, characters and how well the story is told. Each game just blows me away and I am so excited to see what's next for the series ❤️🔥

As a fellow castform haver I must ask does your also like wearing hats/clothes?
well see, most hats are a bit big for his little head! but he still doesn't mind too much, and gets this goofy little look and keeps floating around happily whenever I put one on top of his head for a bit
that spike on their head is a big more rigid than it looks! maybe a party hat would have better staying power by using that. goofy little baby man

It sure does! Z-Power is short for Zenith Power.
Zenith is a term that means a few different things, but in this case specifically, it refers to "using all of one's power". Because, well. You get powerful, all-out attacks if they are used in battle!
Zenith also refers to the upper region in the sky, that uppermost point of the visible celestial globe you would be able to see as a viewer-
For example, if you were craning your head towards the stars, that highest point in the center would be called the zenith. It's the highest possible point you can reach with your vision. Interesting name, right? :]
I thought this would be interesting to share...
This is an abnormally large Quagsire that has been exposed to large amounts of Zenith power, or Z-power, after coming to our world from an Ultra Wormhole a few months ago as of posting this. It is 2.5 meters tall, and weighs approximately 201.5 lbs. Big boy!
It has all of the qualities that other totem pokémon possess; it has an increased mass and unnatural size, along with an incredibly powerful energy adding to its power when it is agitated enough to battle- it gains stronger defenses specifically in this Quagsire's case.
I received this photo from the Wooper/Quagsire sanctuary currently caring for it, and it sounds like it's doing much happier being in an environment suited for it- rather than flooding some unfortunate trainer's bedroom!

Fun, admittedly somewhat dubious, fact: a single part of a Stakataka is just called a Taka.

alola.
what is your favorite ultra beast.
thank you.
- @wandering-insect
Personally? My favorite would be Stakataka. I think it's interesting how it is one beast composed of countless individual organisms...
He is like dugtrio. Or magneton. Or maushold. Or exeggcutor. Or barbacle. to me. ❤️
But instead of one or a dozen individuals, Stakataka operates on a much more vast scale! Which I find endearing.

Oh, this is all incredible. Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to tell me!
I guess I could provide a history lesson how things are here to the best of my ability:
Here it is stated that in ancient Alola, the islands were shrouded in darkness (Po), until the emotion of Mesprit saw the beauty of nature, the knowledge of Uxie saw the potential of what it could become, and the resolute willpower of Azelf pulled the Tapu from the darkness. Their role from their creators was to protect the archipelago as guardians.
Now, these guardians are revered as deities here in Alola. When they were first born, however, they would constantly bicker and battle over who was responsible for each island. These overwhelming and hectic 4 on 4 battles are said to be the origin and inspiration of battle royals you might have heard of today!
It's only when a few brave souls chose to fight alongside the Tapus, could their fury be focused. These are what we'd call the first Kahunas of Alola. The old kings of Alola would have their armies fight with the Tapu against other armies and kings. It was all out destruction on all sides, and in modern day Alola, I personally feel lucky that we don't have kings sending out the wrath of the Tapu with the rest of their armies.
Today, the closest people to the Tapu are still the Kahunas that these diety pokémon have chosen for themselves. We aren't sure how exactly their decisions are made, but I hear some people feel that Tapu Bulu and Tapu Lele make the choice based on what they see in the individual's mind and soul, while Tapu Koko and Tapu Fini see what is in the individual's heart and body. These people are responsible for caring for the ruins that were made for the Tapu long ago, and will always step up to protect their home with the deities is necessary.
Then there's our BIG deities, which we have learned. a lot about in recent years, lmao
Solgaleo and Lunala, the Emissaries of the Sun and the Moon, respectively. They were said to be able to light up the sky with incredible light and power, and I believe it, especially so knowing what we do now about them. They were said to have come to ancient Alola, and have done battle with the Tapu. As a reward for putting up a good fight, they rewarded the Tapu with a powerful Z-Crystal, and bestowed them and the Kahunas the responsibility of protecting Cosmog, known in legend as the child of the stars. The people of Alola were to protect Cosmog, until it could evolve and repeat the cycle by creating a new Cosmog, before departing for the stars. We still aren't quite sure how Cosmog is made.
Some point after this first encounter, there were also legends of a Pillager of Light invading Alola, battling with Solgaleo and Lunala in the now deserted Tapu village.
We know now that this invader was Necrozma, which I believe the URS had said was abused for its light by their ancestors, which caused it to go into a desperate search for any light to replace what was lost. Necrozma had beaten Solgaleo and Lunala in battle, absorbing their light and transforming with their absorbed power. It was only through the combined power of the kings of Alola, the Tapu, and a youth (why is it always kids doing this 😭), that Necrozma was beaten, and Solgaleo and Lunala were saved. Now, we don't have very much on this point in history, due to many historical records of this time being burned or otherwise destroyed. Hate to see history being lost, but I can't blame people at the time for being scared of something so dangerous that they would prefer to wipe it from their history entirely.
Now, we also know now that Cosmog is the first evolutionary stage of Solgaleo and Lunala. You can imagine our surprise nearly a decade ago at the lab, when we heard the news that my boss' daughter was apparently just. carrying one around in her bag at the time! Go figure lmao
Now, the thing about Cosmog and its evolutions is that it happens to also be... alllllmost like an Ultra Beast. Almost. Similar, but not quite the same. They come from the stars, but unlike the UBs who simply fall through portals that have randomly been torn open, Solgaleo and Lunala can freely create wormholes at will. While Cosmog can also do this, it is detrimental to the pokemon's health, and unethical to make its prevolution attempt this.
There are also some more minor legends I still find fascinating!
There would be Marshadow, which are said to be the ghosts of warriors who had passed, but still strove to get stronger. They slip into shadows and are said to mimic the fighting styles of martial artists, learning and surpassing them. They are nearly impossible to spot, though sightings have claimed them to be quite the short pokémon.
Ooh, and there's also Zeraora, said to have been blessed by Tapu Koko's lightning itself. It's been said to be so fast, it can sprint across oceans in a zip! Seeing as it was spotted in the Lental region as of late, that theory seems to be true! I couldn't imagine such a mythical pokémon being patient enough to ride on a boat, lol
Ah, and there's also Magearna, who was an artificial created by a scientist around 500 or so years ago as a gift for a king's daughter. How sweet ❤️ It sounds very complex and a marvel at the time, having some kind of "soul-heart" that utilizes life energy? I'd love to learn more about this one personally!
I may have rambled a lot about legends, but I feel there's some thread of truth to them! Though you know how it is when legends are traditionally passed orally, a lot of details can get exaggerated, and if it's from another language like Kantonian or Alolan, it can get mistranslated or simply unable to have an English equivalent.
Still! Interesting stuff I feel. :] It's nice to ramble when I have not much else going on at work, hehe
Good afternoon, my name is Meta Solari,
I am a resident of Ultra Space- or at least an outlier version of it, as so far no other person on this sight knows about the continent of Locasol, of which I speak.
Locasol is the mainland of Ultra Megalopolis, divided into three main sectors, each one named after one of the legendary Pokémon of the Cosmatic Trio: Necrozi (my home), Stello, and Cosmu.
At least in my version of Ultra Space, there are many more Ultra Beast that are undocumented anywhere else. Perhaps I may be of assistance in finally shearing some light on these undiscovered Pokémon and region?
@metaoflocasol
I don't know how useful your data would be to us here in Alola, as that's where most of me and my coworkers research lies, but shouldn't just be focusing on the practical use- I think it's always good to learn more, even if nothing applies to my own home.
I've never heard of this legendary trio before, nor your region! And I doubt a duckducklettgo search is going to help in my case lmao. So go ahead :] I'm all ears!

Yooo fellow Castform haver!! That's so awesome omg
What's it like, researching Ultra Beasts? Are they like .. similar to Pokemon sorta? They sound fascinating but also a little scary at the same time lmao
[@weather-ball]
Castform my beloved ❤️
Anyway, the beasts.
They have a few similarities, but have some fundamental differences, yes! I can simplify the biggest ones for you,
Ultra Beasts and Pokémon have the following in common:
- Are capable of using moves in battle, and often share movepools with pokémon, and often share a known type with them.
- Are capable of understanding commands from a competent trainer (Though if most have the time, space, or resources to care for one is highly debatable).
- Are capable of breathing oxygen here in our world like many pokémon do- in theory. We are still unsure if some of these Ultra Beasts have lungs. We can't ethically harm one to disect it, so our best bet here would to be lucky enough to examine an already deceased beast- though for now it's mostly speculation. They can survive on our planet, but thriving is a different matter.
- We know they can eat pokebeans, pokepuffs, and curry. for. some reason. Whether this has any actual nutritional value is still being looked into. Young trainers keep emailing our lab pictures of them eating these things. its a little disconcerting
Now, the differences! Ultra beasts are also very different from pokémon in the following ways:
- Ultra Beasts are firstly, not of this world. They're adapted for environments and habitats that are far different from our own- likely very harsh ones considering how strong and dangerous they are to encounter.
- Perhaps due to not being of this world, for one reason or another, they are different enough from pokémon to interact with the capturing technology of pokéballs in a strange way; they are significantly harder to capture in a regular pokéball, so a special kind of ball (Beast Ball) had to be developed to make it easier for emergency response teams to capture them.
- Have very different diets, needs, and care requirements from what the average pokémon trainer could ever possibly provide.
I'm personally hoping we can work with the recon squad and Aether foundation to find a method of returning them to their original habitats on other planets one day. A scared wild animal taken from its home is still a scared wild animal, so we have to be responsible in how we handle them- even if they are drop-offs from another point in time and space.
#i went on a big ramble there oopsie :] jk i literally research this for a living lmao#i do hope we can get the beasts home one day though.#asks#pkmn irl

(@wingsofachampion) Hiya! What's your favorite thing about humans? -Tropius
Hmm. I'd have to say the opposable thumbs is the first thing that comes to mind for me! How else will I make waffles in my waffle-maker.
The second would be the vast language and cultural differences that leads to all the artistry and writing humanity's differences create. :]

Greetings! I am Nori Phoris of the Ultra Recon Squad and I am currently working with scientists in Alola to study UBs as well as Ultra Wormholes. I find this especially interesting because not once in my time at the Heahea Dimensional Research Lab have I seen or heard of you. The multiverse is not a field I am particularly well versed in but I am fairly certain that we do not reside in the same universe. I would be curious to learn of other differences in our worlds besides your presence. Perhaps we could arrange an exchange of data to see what each of our worlds has discovered about these phenomena?
for more information please contact Nori Phoris or Ulva Cassius @from-ultra-space or through the Heahea Dimensional Research Lab. Ultra Recon Squad HQ is located in Ultra Megalopolis. Thank you for your time.
Oh? That sounds nice! Exchanging data to learn more and see if each side can come together to make breakthroughs is always good.
I would gladly take the time to send you all the information we have on UBs, UWs, and z-energy to your inbox once I take some time to cobble it all together.

You receive a package, it's a jar about the size of a large pickle jar, inside is a red liquid, in which floats red orbs about the size of a golfball. Tied to the jar is a note.
"Howdy there, hope this finds you well. I figured I would share a taste of the Ohrken region with some of my fellow bloggers. These are a berry native to Ohrken called Cran Berries. These ones have been pickled so they may be a bit tart. Stay safe out there."
-- Ranger Sveppir
Ooh, mahalo. I'm going to have to look up recipes I can use these in! Or maybe I'll just eat them as a crunchy snack lol
