Linda writes books, she was a kickass investigative reporter, she went to med school, she knows more about speedster biology and how it works than literally anyone else in her home dimension, she regularly fights aliens with no powers and just whatever weapons she finds laying around. Linda is intelligent, she's cunning and witty and she will cut a bitch.

As for the Titans... well, Donna is already taken care of. Garth... is technically also taken care of I think?? Atlanteans exist in Greek mythology so Garth is just the same I think. For Dick I would want to go with a minor god or goddess, I like the idea of him being a child of Psyche (Goddess of the human soul) because he is very human and he understands people on a level that might be considered supernatural. Lilith would be the oracle. Karen would be a child of Hephaestus and Mal would 100% just be a guy who can see through the mist and has a shield.

Gar is the last son of Pan because that's cool AF. Raven would be the daughter of Tartarus I think. Vic would be a son of Apollo. I know it's really easy to go for Hephaestus for Vic but honestly, the key part of Vic's story to me isn't that he's a cyborg, it's that he's human. He's a survivor, who, against all odds, received bat shit crazy medical treatment from his father and survived a fatal accident. I like the idea that Apollo saw a guy doing crazy stuff to advance medical science and was like 'Hey there 😉😉😉😉'. Also pre accident Vic was a football player which has a lot to do with aim, so idk, I just like it. Starfire would be a demigod child of the sun deity on her home planet.

For Young Justice, Cassie and Bart are already covered. Kon would be a legacy of Nemesis (Lex) and a legacy of a deity from Krypton. Cissie would be a daughter of Ares and a legacy of Apollo. Greta would be a child of Morpheus. Tim would be the son of Lachesis. Slobo is Slobo. Anita.... Tbh I want to say she's a legacy of Aphrodite? Love is a huge part of her backstory and I dislike giving the non powered characters godly parentage that explains away their abilities. They worked hard for those skills!

well first of all those little flamingos are fucking adorable and i love watching little babies do these kinds of dances

second yes - it IS easier to do this kind of linked dance if you're not doing a lot of traveling (they're mostly walking forward in time with each other) the reason the four swans dance is so um. insane? is mostly because you're doing very fast traveling, and also when they kick their legs out they have to do it with a much narrower margin of error or else they'll just knock each other over. (here's a group of four rehearsing, it's easier to see the footwork without the stage lights and the costuming)

so you COULD probably just have an unlinked dance in a line and get a fuckton of dancers in there. i still think it would be cool to get a linked trio to do some cool stuff as a "solo" (not. really a solo if it is three dancers but you get the picture) but for the ensemble mal du pays dance it's absolutely possible to get everyone on stage doing the same thing in a big line (or even in a set of rows, that's common especially with like the dance of the snowflakes in the nutcracker)

Oh baby. Oh man. Not just fic recs, but A/E fic recs? Yesssssssss my time has come.

First, there are a couple of writers whose entire oeuvre you should definitely check out if you haven’t.

Lolahardy, whose Dreamhusbands work is vast and varied, but here are a few of my own favorites (important note: no links because Lola’s fics are currently locked, but they are easily findable if you have an AO3 account, and you should definitely check out all of them, not just the few I mentioned here!):

In Every Universe - the fic that will never die, lol. So many great A/E stories here, but for me, the biggest draw are the other JGL/TH ships contained within. My personal favorite is Forrest/Evelyn, who I almost love even more than A/E at this point. Also, so many tropes and kinks and whatnot. Safe to say, I’m positive you’ll find a lot of different things to enjoy!

Le Mal Du Pays - this one is just lovely. I reread it again for this rec list and boy… still amazing. The chapters set during canon are so good, it’s like watching the movie again, but with the added bonus of actual A/E in the plot, you know?

Love is Strange - A/E by way of Dirty Dancing! I love it when you can enjoy an AU based on a very specific property even without having seen said property. For example, I adore everything about this fic even though I have never watched DD, not even once, lol.

OneWhoSitsWithTurtles, whose A/E work is never anything less than stellar and beautiful, and regularly makes me cry. Also, they have works in other fandoms that are equally worth checking out!

Christmas Without You (Is a Christmas Not Worth Having) - the best. The pinnacle. If ever you (or anyone else, for that matter) were curious about what my favorite A/E fic of all time is? Here’s your answer.

Dream of Me - This one is just beautiful. A simple little somewhat canon-compliant love story. So sugary sweet at times, it runs the risk of being tooth-rotting. But I’m always willing to take that risk.

39 Days to Fall in Love - the survivor AU you didn’t know you were missing. Seriously, it’s so good it might make you want to watch Survivor if you haven’t already, even if you know there’s no Arthur or Eames in it, lol.

Lullaby - Hands down, the saddest A/E fic I have ever read, and certainly in the running for saddest fic period. Seriously, it’s beautiful and worth reading but don’t go in without some tissues.

The Bumblebee and the Flower who Fell in Love - Also very sad, but so very whimsical and sweet besides. A/E works well in seemingly silly setups like this.

And now, for a few more individual recs. Mind you, a lot of my recs are a bit older - I really need to go back and peruse through the ship tag to find new stuff to bookmark - but hey, something something wine metaphors, lol.

End of the Road - this one is so cool. If you like Mad Max Fury Road and ever wondered what it would be like if you combined it with A/E (sort of) and some A/B/O Dynamics, you can’t do better than this.

Quiet Desperation - a lovely little A/E and 00q crossover story! I would read an entire series of this if it existed.

Next Big Thing - A/E as judges on a HGTV reality show. Classic! The exact kind of fairly low stakes drama I can get behind. No spoilers, but my favorite character is Misty Rainbow. For one scene in particular. If you read it, you’ll know exactly which one. Also I wish this show was real.

The Party - heavy subject matter in this one (heed the tags), but getting through the rough stuff makes the eventual fluffier bits almost extra sweet.

Out of Reach - a recent addition to my ranks, but absolutely beautiful. The emotions are so palpable and heartfelt.

And… would it be completely shameless if I included a couple of mine? I don’t like to toot my own horn too much, but since nobody else ever puts me on their reclists, why not, right?

Darling I’m Killed - my somewhat still ongoing Inception/Bond crossover. There are two sequels, and I have no concrete ideas for more yet, but there’s potential.

(I Would Like To) Paint the Way a Bird Sings - the Paint Shop AU that wouldn’t quit, lol. Still can’t believe I actually finished it. Four ships for the price of one in this fic!

Funnily enough someone else has suggested Grease, I've just seen it in my inbox. That scene at the end is so perfect for simp Max who I am also very partial too!

I'm reluctant to use the name "Dirtbags", simply because it'd overlap with the canonical fake show and that's super confusing, but I was thinking something more along the lines of:

GEN 1: Heather, Duncan, Courtney, Gwen, Alejandro, Eva, Izzy*, Harold**, Sierra, Justin

GEN 2: Scott, Lightning, Jo, B, Anne Maria***, Mike****

There's more Gen 1 characters simply because Gen 1 had the bigger cast of a whopping twenty five contestants, and I wanted to have the customary sixteen cast members here (otherwise I'd probably scrap Harold and Izzy). I'm considering swapping out either Izzy or Sierra for Blaineley, but she doesn't really count as a contestant so much as a host, so she'll probably came a cameo as a co-host at some point instead.

* Izzy's a wildcard character, and generates a lot of minor conflicts in the show, so she's villain-adjacent.

** Harold's whole 'getting Courtney eliminated' thing really showcases his villain potential, so he's in the same category as Eva and B. The 'potential villain' characters are the ones who have the most conceivable revenge-fuelled villain arcs, which Harold definitely does.

*** Anne Maria is, again, a conflict character. A lot of her plot relevance revolves around her vanity impacting her usefulness to the team, or her infatuation with Vito sabotaging Mike and Zoey's relationship.

**** Mal. Also his alters are, again, a conflict generation plot device, making him villain-adjacent despite being a 'protagonist'.

Of course, Mike could be swapped out with either Zoey or Dakota (I haven't finished RotI yet, but Dakota has more villain potential than Zoey from what I've seen) but I kind of want to keep the gender ratio even, since that's what the show itself does.

Now that I'm thinking about it, Anne Maria and Dakota could easily be swapped. They're both about the same level of villain-adjacent, and Dakota has more incentive for villain-potential given the whole mutation fiasco. But I think Anne Maria deserves more screen time, so. 🤷‍♀️

Now, in terms of Gen 3... I don't know Gen 3. So I'll have to trust your judgement there. If I were to add some Gen 3 characters, I'd probably thin the herd here to make more room for them.

As for the name, I'm thinking something synonymous with antagonist or villain would work well enough, since the whole concept of this 'fan season' is putting the villainous characters through a series of morality test inspired challenges and hoping they come out of it as better people. Though something referencing the fact that they're, in theory, being rehabilitated into better people would also work.

Total Drama Rehab is out, for obvious reasons. As is Total Drama Baddies, because I guarantee that's already being used for someone's NSFW pinup collection or something, and I don't need that sort of association with any of my AUs.

Total Drama Scoundrels is the name I've been sitting on, but that might just be because I think 'scoundrel' is a funny word. Same as terms like 'fiend', 'rascal', 'scallywag' and my personal favourite, 'rapscallion'.

Piper is the loveable aunt who never got to have babies of her own... but her AU sons Wyatt & Chris visit her occasionally.

Damn, y’all have really asked about every single WIP now 😂 I have to admit that what I’ve written so far of this fic I’m intending on majorly revising, but nevertheless, I’ll share a portion of it!

The first time he meets Carlos Sainz Jr., Charles is twenty years old, new to Formula One and driving for Sauber, getting good results - impressive results. Sainz invites him to dinner to welcome him to the paddock, a gesture that Charles reads as both polite and strategic.

Everything he’s heard about Sainz would support that assumption - that he’s well-mannered, precise, smooth, intelligent. Strategic. Both in his driving and in his personality, always putting in extra hours at the Renault factory that aren’t required or asked of him. Putting up good, consistent race results with a style of driving that’s fast, but in a controlled way. He’s well-liked in the paddock, by the engineers, the mechanics and the other drivers, but Charles has always read this as a tactic to get ahead - he still believes that.

But what he discovers over the course of that dinner, and indeed, over the course of his first season in F1 is that Sainz is a little different than anyone he’s met before, or at least recently. He is all of the things that Charles has heard, but also...odd. It’s something difficult to put into words - something in his eyes and expressions. He jokes around more than Charles is used to, finding something funny or someone to tease constantly.

“Charles or Charles?” Sainz asks when they properly meet, pronouncing it both the French and English way.

“Either is okay,” he says, as they shake hands. Sainz gets this small smirk, like he’s in on a private joke. Charles has the urge to frown.

From then on, Sainz calls him by a combination of the two - the unvoiced fricative of a French word like chef, combined with the English pronunciation of the ‘s’ at the end. And he always has that small smirk, which Charles has learned to ignore.

It’s not just the humor, but also the way he jokes that seems strange. Charles is used to how some of his peers joke around - Lando has always been someone he finds amusing, along with Alex, especially when the two get together. But Sainz almost seems to...come alive in some way when he’s able to get others to crack a smile. He seems to truly thrive off of making friends, rather than it being solely a method of maintaining his position in the sport.

Charles has always been one to keep more to himself, having his small circle of friends that he can always return to. But Sainz seems content - more than content - to make as many friends as possible. He’s almost hyperactive in a way that would make Charles think...well- that would make Charles think his dosage of suppressants is off, or something.

He would never suggest it because he doesn’t want to get Sainz in trouble - he’s been nothing but nice and welcoming to Charles. And no one else seems too concerned about it in the paddock. Anyway, he’s new to Formula One and he doesn’t want to stir the pot. This is the way things work, and who is he to question something that no one seems to be questioning. It’s not his business.

And it continues to not be his business for years. He and Sainz cross paths often enough on race weekends, but their racing is always normal, professional, competitive. They’re on their own paths - Charles to Ferrari in only his second year in Formula One, and Sainz to McLaren with Lando.

The pair of them, Sainz and Norris, are certainly a hyper duo, which does raise some eyebrows amongst the media. But it quickly dies down once everyone gets used to their dynamic and the racing regulations continue to be strictly adhered to. In most cases, drivers can get away with a lot, as long as the racing stays within the rules.

In fact, it’s Charles’ and Max’s racing styles which remain the talk of the media at most races. Charles knows that they both have a forceful style of driving. But the media seem to take it to mean that the two of them are emotional, or something. It couldn’t be further from the truth, at least for himself.

Charles has worked hard to find peace and calm in the cockpit, as well as to find the right balance with his medication. A pang of annoyance creeps in every time he’s questioned by the media about his previous temper problems, but he’s getting used to answering them. Max is better than him sometimes, with his blunt, straight-forward answers. But Charles has learned that if he repeats the same thing over and over, eventually reporters will get bored and move on.

No, he doesn’t escape criticism, especially not with the way he wants to beat his teammate, Sebastian. They get far too much attention from the media when they collide with each other, not once but twice, creating a narrative that they are both acting in their own self interest and should be monitored closely for other concerning behavior.

Charles likes Seb - admires him, even. He’s been a part of a championship-winning team four times, not to mention he’s polite and agreeable off track, helping to mentor Charles with his knowledge and experience. But on track, they both have that same will to give their all, no matter who they’re racing, even if it’s each other. He wishes it wouldn’t lead to both of their cars retiring from a race after colliding (which certainly doesn’t help the narrative), but it’s an honest mistake on both of their parts.

They don’t make it easy for the other. And that’s what Charles likes most about him.

But it’s his fourth year in Formula One when suddenly Carlos Sainz Jr.’s business becomes his own. Because Seb is moving to Aston Martin. And Sainz is coming to Ferrari.

OOOO. OH THAT'S A HARD ONE BECAUSE I CAN'T SENSE WHAT THE FANDOM'S OPINION ON SHIT IS SINCE I BARELY STEP OUT OF MY CIRCLE. I'll try my best tho!

TDI: The middle is so boring you guys. Seriously there's a bunch of episodes i barely care about this season and most are around the mid point. Some merge episodes also aren't super great either. Oh and as i've said before, Gwent's boring as hell and im not the biggest fan of Duncney. Ozzy's fine tho

TDA: I honestly prefer it's pacing to Island. It could 100% be better, but having less characters and more time between eliminations allows for alot more character building and i like that :)

TDWT: Guys. Guys please it is not as good as you think. It's a huge mixed bag and no one ever talks about it??? At all??? Outside of the usual suspects (Sierra's thing, the Love Triangle™) people don't tend to talk alot about the season's faults and it sucks because THIS is the season you guys think is the best one? Really?

ROTI: Ok this is where me being mostly active on Tumblr and not anywhere else is detrimental because im not sure??? What would be an unpopular opinion? I guess i don't have much investement in Jo and Brick's rivalry? But otherwise most people seem to have similar opinions as me (the girls deserved better, the cast would benefit from more episodes, the cast is super interesting, ect...) I guess an actual controversial opinion is that i like Dakota's mutation on concept because i love monster designs and she looks super cool but i am. not a fan of the apparent drop in her intelligence. Make her speak full sentences and be herself and i'd give her full props.

TDAS: Haven't watched it yet, so i don't have any real opinions? Yet? Mal could've worked if he wasn't treated seriously ig. Also it would've been fun to see all the campers slowly all turn on Chris over the season since it's the final time we've seen these people and they deserve it honestly

TDPI: That the season is good, or at least funny LMAOOOOO liking Pahkitew, especially outside of Tumblr is the unpopular opinion, let alone liking certain things about it like Sugar and Max's characters

Different anon here but I feel like most lestappen fic is written SO weird, with Charles as this child-like person who was put on earth to submit to max who is always written so… creepy. And then when they add Carlos into that he just turns into a punching bag.

I’m not sure who the other anon was talking about but f1-stuff and i THINK choripan, maybe? Are the only two other authors who, imo, have the right personality/universe for bottom!carlos when it comes to Charlos. If Esti hasn’t written it I think she would write it well.

My friend and I debate whether or not Carlos is vers, they 100000% say no but I think in the right universe, with the right relationship, he is. I don’t think it’s his favorite thing by any means but I think, especially with Charles, he’s willing to give that part of himself to Charles, so once in a blue moon when Charles does want to top, he never says no. I also can’t see max topping, so when it comes to versainz, I think he bottoms.

oh, Mal is hands down THE best at writing bottom carlos in charlos for me. i eat it up. it works, it's nicely done, nothing else to add. also with esti, everything she writes is amazing so i am positive this would be nice too (sliding into her dms to discuss this topic rn actually)

Hmmm very fair. It truly depends on the ship and the background. Also I agree on the charlos take, 'once in a blue moon' is perfect definition of it for me. not often but sometimeeees, so it's not like i'm saying a firm no... oh Max is very bottom tho, so I agree on that one too. OUGHGH thank u very much for the ask...... I'm still kinda embarrassed to talk about him but here he is. His name is Malachy, Mal for short. he's a half-elf Rogue (Arcane Trickster). I went with Dark Urge as his origin, so his story is still shrouded in mystery at this point in the game but he's quite submissive to the Urge.

I would classify him as MAYBE Neutral Evil based on his non-Urge actions in the game so far but this is subject to change, and the needle has moved closer to Lawful at a few points in the game, depending on the person involved and the stakes at hand.

honestly.... he's a pretty terrible person with a disgusting attitude and I would probably hate him if he were real. He will kill without hesitation anyone who wrongs him and anyone he thinks as deserving. if he spares someone or rescues a soul, it's usually because he thinks it will benefit him later

I can't say much else on him bc i've just barely started Act 2, but he's been one of the most enjoyable characters i've played as in my time of RPGs. i really love roleplaying characters who are terrible people and Mal has been one of nastiest yet. he's so awful and he honestly scares me sometimes! I also kinda think he should die but at the same time i care about him..... DELICIOUS THANK YOU!!!! 🧡

I'm gonna put everything else under a cut..... 😭😭 i'm so sorry......

The main companions atm are Gale, Lae'zel and Astarion. Lae'zel admires him and has almost max approval with him (I just finished Act 1). Gale likes him but they've argued a few times already in the game, yet he still maintains good approval with him somehow. better approval than Astarion actually, who approves of nearly all of Mal's heinous deeds in-game but gives a lot of disapproval when Mal is mean to him, which is almost always! So despite sharing a hankering for violence and a lust for blood i don't think Astarion likes him much, which makes him the smartest person in this party

romance is kinda weird. He hooked up with Minthara after the raid, but Minthara's romance in this game is notoriously broken and i think it's going to stay broken on this save file since the "fixes" have been inconsistent for most players. So i sadly decided that would be a one-time thing for him 😭 but towards the end of Act 1 after some story developments featuring Lae'zel i realized that those two were unimaginably compatible together and so I think they're endgame. The gratitude she shows towards him, how much she respects him, how similar they are in a lot of capacities..... just really touches my soul and it feels like love to me, or at least the closest thing to love I can imagine these two characters feeling. So they slept together, at the VERY end of Act 1, and i'm waiting to see what direction that goes in. But i have a really good feeling about it honesty.....

there's also the question of Gale. Gale clashes with Mal a LOT in the game and there was even a scene between them where he quite literally damned him? but then later on after that we got a scene where Gale was clearly interested in him so it turns out Gale also has a crush on him i guess?? Don't really know if it's a bug but i'm kinda happy it developed that way bc honestly it's such a juicy concept HJDFBHKJBGK 😭😭 Mal's a Heterosexual Man though so he doesnt return the feelings and now Gale is stuck with a big fat unrequited crush on Mal that i never anticipated or intended to happen. Gale is my absolute favorite character in the game though so I've never wanted an OC to kill themselves so bad until i had Mal cut off that insanely really romantic moment with Gale DFJHBDKHJG I HATE HIM SO MUCH MAN........ MOST EVIL THING HE'S DONE IN THE GAME SO FAR!! GALE SHOULD KILL HIM.

Admittedly i do really like the idea of Mal, Lae'zel and Gale being in a really weird and twisted situationship where they often can't stand being around one another as a result of their strong personalities and insane moral compasses but are also kinda obsessed with each other and have a lot of unsaid feelings between the three of them. AND MAYBE THEY ALL KISS OR SOMETHING this is all totally in my head and relies exclusively on just. My imagination going wild as i perceive them in the game. they're the worsties ever and uhhh I hate them?/ I actually love them that just seemed like a funny thing to say.......

I don't think this is bonnie's season (sorry everyone) but I really do have my fingers crossed for a max/bonnie friendship, especially as the only normalish people on team friendship. ESPECIALLY if the love triangle forces max to confide in bonnie. that'd be so funny first of all cause bonnie would stand there like this 🧍‍♂️ and second of all may push for some more bonsar development by proxy
