"It's in the kitchen" You say, leaning against the door as you close it behind Trevor and Phoebe. Callie and Gary look to the kids, silently asking if they could do it on their own.

The pair nod, letting the adults sit on the stairs in front of the door. You lead the teens into the kitchen, showing them Slimer, eating everything out of your fridge.

"Fourth time this month. It stayed long enough for me to able to call" You inform quietly, watching Trevor beside you nod, Phoebe looking on with a bit of disgust and confusion. "He's a nice little guy, but I can't afford it in this economy"

"Yeah, we can take care of that for you," the boy replies, a quiet tone shaping his words so as not to scare the ghoulish creature raiding your fridge. He looks over at you, clearly a look in his eyes like he wanted to impress you for some reason.

Phoebe rolls her eyes and grabs a trap off the side of her proton pack, handing it to Trevor. "Go on, impress them"

ok so forewarning, i don’t really have a question here, just lots of thoughts.

there’s so many layers to the general *badness* about the mia vallens therapy scene. like to the manipulation (for lack of a better word) that sam rewrites. like it makes such a difference that she thinks jack is their little brother instead of the son of the thing that killed dean’s best friend/loml. not to mention the fact that it’s been what like a week since *everything*

and like yes dean’s being cold towards jack and giving him orders (which, i could argue they weren’t uncalled-for), but tbh he’s only being moderately colder/more direct with him than he’s been with cas at times on hunts (thinking hunteri heroici) and even similar to how *sam* has been with like claire and even dean himself (thinking that episode dean turned into a teenager and all of MOC). like genuinely, how was sam expecting him to act like?

also (half joking) i genuinely think dean would’ve warmed up to jack even quicker than he did (we can already see it in this same episode, like that look he gives jack when he asks mia if buddy hurt her too) if he heard jack say he hates anakin skywalker lol

Okay so I rewatched 13.01-13.04 on a plane this past week so it's all extra fresh on my mind rn. The thing about 13.04 is that Dean wasn't comfortable bringing Jack on the hunt, and Jack didn't want to go, but Sam pushed insistently for all of them to go on the hunt together... primarily because Dean's feelings were thwarting Sam's plans for Jack and his own emotional coping mechanisms in a larger sense.

I think Dean's feelings compared to Sam's here are relatively more simple (and yet somehow still intensely misunderstood to a baffling degree). Dean was grieving. He was grieving Cas who died right in front of him, he was grieving Crowley (he pleads with Chuck to bring "even Crowley" back in 13.01!) and he was grieving Mary.

The thing with Dean's grief over Cas is this: instead of viewing it from Dean's perspective, we tend to analyze it as omniscient viewers who know Cas will come back, refusing see how miraculous Cas’s return truly was. We refuse to see Cas's death was different this time and appeared very permanent. There was no uncertainty like there was in season 7 or 8. His wings burned into the ground and his grace extinguished. Dean pleaded and prayed for Cas and Mary and Crowley's return to the only person who ever brought Cas back from certain death (via explosion in 5.01 and 5.22)—the person who told Dean in 11.23 he was leaving and Dean was on his own. Dean didn't hear back. The ONLY reason Cas comes back in 13.05 is that 1) Jack woke him him up unwittingly using powers no one knew he possessed and 2) Cas then annoyed a creature they didn't even know existed into letting him out of a place they 3) didn't even know existed and 4) Cas somehow came back with a body even though he had been burned to ash. All of this is completely miraculous. It was unforeseeable. It doesn’t even make complete sense as a viewer. In other words, Dean has ZERO reason to hope for Cas's return. There was ZERO reason to refuse to acknowledge that grief… but that's exactly what Sam does. He suggests Dean pray for Chuck to bring Cas back in 13.01. As soon as Sam knew Dean already tried that and Cas was DEAD dead, he treated Cas as something Dean needed to reframe and get over:

SAM: You thinking mom is gone and Cas is gone, and that Jack can’t be saved. Dean, after everything we’ve gone through… We just lost people we love, people who have been in our lives for a long time. Everything’s upside-down. I get it. But we’ve been down before. I mean, rock bottom. And we find a way. We fix it because that’s what we do.

This is the "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps" speech in 13.02—like a day after they burned Cas's body. Sam's wording here is cruel too—saying Dean is "thinking" Cas is gone as if he didn't die right in front of him? He refuses to acknowledge Cas's death as something Dean was actively and rightfully mourning. This becomes a major point of contention between the brothers at the end of 13.03.

DEAN: Look, I know you think that you can use [Jack] as some sort of an interdimensional can-opener and that’s fine, but don’t act like you care about him! Because you only care about what he can do for you! So if you want to pretend, that’s fine! But me? I can hardly look at the kid! Because when I do all I see is everybody we’ve lost! SAM: Mom chose to take that shot at Lucifer. That is not on Jack!

Sam will only name Mary—the one person whose death they can’t 100% confirm (the same thing happens in front of Mia in 13.04). The absence of Cas’s name here is pointed. So Dean says:

DEAN: And what about Cas?

And how does Sam respond?

SAM: What about Cas?

Uh... wow. That's what really sets Dean off to full on shouting:

DEAN: [Jack] manipulated him, he made him promises, said, ‘paradise on earth’ and Cas bought it and you know what that got him? It got him dead! Now you might be able to forget about that, but I can’t!

Sam's denial of what Dean literally SAW (Cas died) and how that hurts—his insistence that Dean also halt grieving to hope for the impossible—it's a major sticking point and very revealing of Sam's own coping mechanisms. Sam's chief response to grief is to disassociate himself from it. We see a textbook case in season 8 (see: 8.08), but in most of the series, what this actually looks like for Sam is to keep moving and hunting (ex: 1.02, 2.02, 2.10, 2.11, 2.18 3.11, 4.09, 9.01) which is also why he insists on bringing Dean and Jack on the hunt in 13.04. Sam tries not to think about what they've lost and focuses on what he CAN do. He focuses on hoping Mary can be saved because she's the one person he didn't SEE die.

The thing about Dean’s grief over Mary is this: he convinces himself Lucifer had to have killed her. She's the one person whose death Dean can't be certain of, but he absolutely cannot bear the thought of hoping she’s alive and it turning out he’s wrong. He knows he wouldn’t psychologically survive hoping in that and his beliefs being crushed. It would be like losing his mom all over again (a THIRD time). So he sticks to what is most likely: Lucifer killed her. He can't contend with the hope Sam is clinging to desperately, and that's what makes them such poor companions in grief. Sam feels off balance when Dean won't keep moving and hoping like him—when Dean can't keep up the pace Sam wants to run at in his own grief—and in doing so, Sam keeps pushing Dean to contend with hopes that open Dean up to a WORLD of pain Sam can psychologically convince himself not to feel. Grieving together just really just doesn't work for them because they're never on the same page and deal in such different ways—and this has been hurting them from as early as 2.02!!!

Now to bring Jack into this more fully: Jack represents Sam and Dean's different perspectives on grief and on Mary. Just like Dean despairs over Mary's demise, Dean despairs over the possibility of Jack being good. He can't bear the idea of hoping in that and being wrong. The psychologically safest option for him is to assume the worst and not hope or believe in anything turning out okay.

Sam, on the other hand, pretty much immediately sees a way to use Jack to get Mary back. This is clear when he and Jack get locked up together in the jail cell in 13.01. After establishing that Jack isn't hearing things and (probably) isn't going to murder him imminently, Sam immediately starts down a line of questioning establishing how well Jack understands his powers, and then asks him outright:

SAM: Jack, look, um... before you were born, you -- you opened up a door to another world. Do you remember that? JACK: Yes. SAM: Okay, um, could you do that again?

Shortly after, when Sam arrives, he tells Dean (who is convinced after everything that happened in 12.23 that 12.19 that Jack is evil or will turn evil):

We need him.

Sam repeats this sentiment multiple times with clear meaning, and later in 13.04, he admits to Jack that he wants to use him to open the portal. This doesn't mean he doesn't also grow to see himself in Jack quickly and genuinely believe in his capacity for good, but he isn't fully honest with Jack about his motives until 13.04 where he finally comes clean, and this poisons the well with Jack a little.

@shallowseeker has pointed out before that in 13.03, while trying to figure out how to get Jack's powers to work (and spying on Jack through cameras from another room) Sam is seen reading "The Drama Of The Gifted Child". I wish I could find the post because Shal probably brought it up too, but when I was rewatching this episode, I noticed the chapter Sam had just settled into read before being interrupted was titled,

"Depression and Grandiosity: Two Related Forms of Denial"

Given the accusations flying from Sam toward Dean then from Dean toward Sam about denial in the following episode (13.04), this feels amusingly pointed. Dean is depressed (and about to attempt suicide in 13.05), Sam is depressed and has "grandiose" ideas of using Jack to pop open a portal to another reality while hiding behind the guise of being the most rational person in the room when he... isn't necessarily? And it's easy to argue "Well, Sam turns out to be right even if he didn't ultimately have much of a reason to think he was" but the core problem here is how his beliefs effect how he treats other people's grief. He isn't honest with Jack about his motives (while Dean is somewhat brutally honest) and pushes and watches even while claiming he's giving Jack space (13.03), he refuses to give Dean space to grieve even the family member they know is dead, he inserts a therapist into the situation and criticizes Dean's grief when Dean won't play his game, and in 13.05, after Dean says that he can't believe in anything right now, Sam's clumsy attempts at help involve plying Dean with alcohol he says he doesn't even want and trying to send him off to strip clubs—believing that Dean performing being okay will somehow address his mental state because Sam's idea of coping himself is simply "going through the motions".

As for Jack, I don't think he's scared of Dean. I think he's scared of what Dean believes. He's scared that Dean is right. From 13.01-13.06, Jack is contending with the question of whether he's destined for evil or good, and in his depressed state, Dean believes Jack is destined for evil because hoping in anything is completely beyond him at that moment. Sam tells Jack that he can be good, but he hides ulterior motives as to why he's being nice, and when those ulterior motives are revealed, it leaves Jack thinking Sam is the kind of person who will lie to Jack and tell him he's good just to get what he wants. Meanwhile, Jack knows Dean is being completely honest with him about what he believes. 13.03 and 13.04 clearly demonstrate that Jack understands the difference between beliefs and facts: Dean could be right or he could be wrong. What Jack holds onto like an anchor is that he can trust Dean to tell him the truth about what he believes—even if it hurts.

It's also just so obvious that Jack immediately wants Dean—specifically—to like him (see: Jack mimicking Dean's mannerisms while eating in 13.02, and his clumsy attempts to earn his favor in 13.04). Sam also picks up on this, and encourages Jack to seek Dean's approval in 13.04 to try and change Dean's beliefs. Sam (and to some extent Jack) are thinking in 13.04, that if Jack can prove to Dean that he can be good, and if Dean tells him he did a good job (which Dean does in the end), Jack can believe that. Sam sees that Jack wants Dean's approval and the impression that Dean's beliefs have had on Jack and thinks by pushing them together as soon as possible (when neither of them want to go on the hunt) and treating them as a family and forcing Dean to accept Jack when Dean just isn't ready (including by paralleling Jack with himself in a way that becomes an accusation), he can "fix" Jack so he isn't scared of his powers anymore (13.03) and then he can teach Jack to use his powers and Jack can open a portal to save their mom.

Jack's attempts to earn Dean's favor in 13.04 are clumsy. His first attempt is directly ignoring Dean telling him to wait in the car and sneaking into the crime scene, potentially contaminating it. At Mia's office, Jack's outburst about losing a mother is what allows Sam to set up the whole family therapy trap to begin with, and because Dean knows Sam is going to use that to hurt him, he warns Jack not to make outbursts like that. Dean is not being nice. Point blank. And I do think his tone is a little different than with Cas which in the past felt more like exasperation. I also don’t think it makes him the devil. I think that's understandable when putting in even a tiny amount of effort and it's kind of laughable to me how few people seem to even try because they're so caught up in Sam's happy family narrative and the idea that someone wanting Dean's approval presents an obligation that Dean give it no matter how emotionally impossible—and in a situation where asking him to lie would actually destroy that much more of Jack's trust.

The sickening crunch of bone echoes through the room as Zhongli stands over you, the heel of his shoe digging into the freshly crushed bones in your leg. The makeshift gag, a towel from the kitchen, dug into the sides of your mouth as it muffled your screams and cries. The Geo Archon almost feels bad for using his strength in such a brutal manner, but it would all be worth it, at least that was how he justified it to himself. It wasn’t about the now, but rather what now would soon be bringing him. By breaking you down bit by bit, sending you spiraling back into some of the worst moments of your life, he could slowly rebuild your shattered pieces how he saw fit. What use was a puzzle if the pieces weren’t in the correct order, right?

Yandere!Dottore is sick, sick, twisted, and absolutely disgusting. If he wasn’t the cause of your original trauma, you could surely bet he’d be the driving force behind re-traumatizing you. 

Whether he chooses to reenact every step, or to simply do something far worse than what had previously done it all dependent on how he feels that day. Some days will be so similar to your past that you’ll truly feel like you were back there, all those years ago. Other days are so awful it almost makes what happened in your past seem insignificant as if that were a stone among boulders resting on the ocean floor. 

Dottore does think it’s funny though, using it as both amusement and research opportunities. It wasn’t often that animals such as yourself came across his table, so of course he’d taken the prime subject as soon as he’d laid eyes on you.

In his lab, you aren’t seen as anything but a thing that exists only for Dottore’s own gain. If you’re lucky one of his more sympathetic clones might take pity on you and actually give you a day to rest when he’s out of the Palace, but they’re expected to keep up the same treatment he inflicts in his absence.

It was almost sickening to the segments as the watched the fox-human endure soul shaking torture day in and day out. Everything from injections to straight up live surgery to see how much pain the body could take whilst awake had occurred on the cold, steel table. They were often left to clean up the mess, expected to stitch you up, administer antidotes to anything too harmful that had been administered today, and even sometimes bathe you due to the mess that had occurred. You’d been fed little since you arrived, given water only when necessary for your survival, and hadn’t seen sunlight in days- or months maybe? With the sickening way time seemed to pass, you couldn’t tell how long you’d been here. Your only reprieve would be when the doctor left for something more pressing, leaving you in the care of his segments that only sometimes took pity on you. Some seemed to hold a little more humanity than others.

Speaking of which,

1- how did Axolotl and Bill get together?? (Who made the first move, if they did, or they just slipped into it)

2- what are their love languages (how they show their love) towards one another??

So, about the questions!:

1. I think the Axolotl is always the initiator of everything. They are not shy about doing something that ordinary people call romantic, since it does not bother them, the Axolotl is actually quite calm to all these kisses, compliments and other things. If the Axolotl likes Bill, then why don't they show it? In general, the Axolotl becomes the initiator of all cute things in principle. In fact, they do not have an official romantic relationship, they just become emotionally attached to each other at one moment.

2. In fact, they don't have many very romantic moments, because I see their relationship on a higher level. They don't really need to do anything to show that they like being around each other. However, the Axolotl is not stingy with compliments, some kisses on the forehead, cheeks, lips. They are quite tactile, but not intrusive, Bill's comfort is quite important to them. Bill will be embarrassed for a very very long time from any manifestation of tenderness on the part of the Axolotl, so his way of showing love is quite simple: he does not get indignant and does not run away if the Axolotl does any of the above.

3. And of course Bill, as completely inexperienced in such matters, can easily experience shame and embarrassment from simple actions on the part of the Axolotl. He can pretend to be cold-blooded and indifferent to such things if he expects it, but sudden actions can quickly and easily embarrass him. Yes, it sounds stupid, Bill would never be embarrassed by such a thing, he would laugh it off and laugh at it, but when his mask of a joking madman slowly falls off with every passing moment next to the Axolotl and when he begins to feel affection for this creature, it seems to me that he may begin to be embarrassed by such things. Since he is no longer so confident in himself, many of his "human" feelings ("human", since the Euclidians essentially have the same level of development as us) have come out and he looks more like a simple Euclidian, rather than an evil demon and chaos in the flesh. In fact, his embarrassment is very funny, he may even be very ridiculously angry at the Axolotl, but the Axolotl does not take it seriously.

It is difficult to make an Axolotl blush. They're a very calm dude. Maybe if Bill makes a dirty joke, although it might be a little annoying rather than embarrassing for them. They doesn't worry about all these things, they just shows love and is ready to accept it in return, for them there is nothing embarrassing about it!

get a snack - it doesn't have to be complicated. a piece of fruit, some cheese and crackers, some chips, popcorn, pretzels, leftovers from last night. don't feel bad. this is productive. you are being productive. this is what you need rn.

turn on some chill music

make a list of the things you have to do - "must do today or there will be severe consequences", "should probably do today", "don't have to do today"

put aside the "don't have to do today". it's okay. there will be other days, better days. dramatically rip off that part of your to-do list, crumble it up, and throw it in the nearest trash can basketball star style.

start with your must dos. work for 15 minutes, then take a 5 minute break. if you can't do 15 minutes straight, do whatever time amount you can do. slow progress is still progress. i'm so proud of you.

take a nice, rewarding break after your must dos. you deserve it. then - reassess. are you up for your "should dos"? if so, repeat the last bullet point with them. if not, that's okay. there will be other days.

you did it. i'm so proud of you. one day you will look back on today and think "wow, i was so strong for getting through that. i can't believe i got through that" and you will be right. because you are so strong. ily <3 you are the best spy ever.

So, he'd be a perfect balance of earth, fire and water in his big three. Taurus Sun, aka he is grounded enough to have a stable base people he cares about can lean on. Fiercely loyal, once you have his affection, he'd anything for you(cough like fight a demon or go to Hell cough). As a Venus sign, he cares about his apperance, but still keeps it comfortable. Hence why he looks so effortless cool throughout the series. Also Tauruses often love to indulde in little pleasures, such as food, so it's no wonder Charles complains about missing spaghetti. He is a creature of comforts.

His down to earth attitude balances well with Edwin's Capricorn qualities. Both are grounded, but when Edwin focused solely on the goal, Charles is there ti be present in the moment and notice what happens around them and react accordingly. Like with the Night Nurse, where Edwin froze, because he had no idea how to face this kind of threat. Charles was present and his protective instincts kicked in immediately. 

Then we have Sagittarius Rising. I knew he had to be some sort of fire sign, because that boy has so much inner fire to keep him going. And Sagittarius is exactly that. Rising signs are all about how one is perceived, and Sagittariuses are positive and friendly, with boundless energy. One could say that Charles' statement of being "aces with people" fits perfectly here. They are always here for the new adventure and experiences, especially when they are surrounded by people they love to be around.

Last but not least is Cancer Moon. Cancers are known for having many emotions, even having a reputation for crying often, although that's not necessarily true. Having it as his Moon, that represets emotions, especially hidden ones, does mean Charles has lots of feelings. He is sensitive to feelings of others, and in normal circumstances, should be of his own. However, he, similarly to Edwin, isn't a fully realized Cancer Moon at the beginning of the series. He bottles up his feelings, hiding behind his more "desirable" Rising. But eventually, the dam breaks, and he cries and/or lashes out.

Also, interestingly, Cancer Moons are known to be very possessive, which we see when Edwin is spending time with Monty or the Cat King. 

With his full potential realized(which I think, he has more work to do than Edwin does as things stand rn) he'll be a wonderful friend, attentive partner and somehow who freely expresses his emotions, both good and bad.

Marble hornets hurt comfort headcanons ft. Ships (theres some that aren’t specific so put In whoever you want)

(Im sorry- not feeling great rn and this is my way of coping ���- IM SORRY IF THERES MORE HURT THAN COMFORT)

•Brian is like a walking ball of energy, he’s always up for meeting new people, doing things and genuinely being an outgoing guy but some days he just cant. Its not something he likes about himself very much considering he wants and likes to be there for and with people. His energy completely sucked away and he knows truthfully thats okay, it happens but it doesn’t stop him from feeling shitty about it. A way he’s gets comfort is from his partners (the boys)

A way i picture this going down is he roommates with Tim so he’s obviously the first to notice, he wakes up and Brian hasn’t even got out of bed yet when usually by the time Tim wakes up he’s gone on a morning run and made breakfast. He asks about it since well- maybe his boyfriend just wanted a lie in. But no. Tim gets short answers, tired and dull, it makes him frown knowing Brian is struggling, he texts Alex or Jay about whats happening and asks if they can come over.

They arrive to comfort Brian and as expected they’re kinda shouldered off since their bf doesn’t wanna be a bother, obviously they’re happy to reassure him then just be around him, they dont have to anything major, even just holding him in silence is enough.

•Alex is very quick to let his emotions take hold, especially anger so he starts fight a lot sometimes unintentionally and oh the guilt sets in hard afterwards. However he stays a good while being stubborn and doesn’t want to apologise because “why should i!?”, the memory of what transpired eats at him though and he knows deep down he’s gotta say something. When he does come around it’s usually with some form of gift (not that he thinks it’ll win him acceptance) then he apologises and acknowledges it was stupid of him to get so worked up about something small. He’ll do anything possible to keep things right.

•Tims frequent nightmares usually waken people up, he’ll be screaming and jolting in his sleep while he dreams of when he was a kid again in the hospital hallucinating that ugly tall faceless creature. Whoevers in bed with him that night wakes up groggy though they snap awake upon realising whats happening, they know this routine, know how to soothe Tim without waking and startling him. Rubs on his back as he’s completely encased in their arms, soft whispers saying its not real, fingers carding through his hair, even when it works i dont think the other person lets him go for the whole night.

•Jay gets stressed a lot to the point where he does actually cry at times and it really makes him feel so pathetic, it hurts and aches so badly, he just wants to be able to function properly without getting so overwhelmed. Its rare but, he reaches for the help he knows is there, opens the door with a red and puffy face while he’s on the verge of tears again and as he’s hugged everything just pours out once more. For a while thats all he does, cry, it fees good after he’s let it out even if it leaves him sleepy, he goes for a nap being cuddled if thats what he needs to do.

Waking up later he’s able to talk about what happened and go through how to prevent it from reoccurring, it can be embarrassing but its fine, he knows he wont be judged by someone who loves him.

•Tbh sometimes, certain duos work best for certain scenarios of hurt

•Tim and Alex are the ones that get into the most arguments because one demands an apology while the other just cant give one in that moment

•Jay got that abandonment and trust issues

•Brian being Hoodie must’ve been a miserable experience, completely consumed by hurt and anger and sadness that eventually went numb. He became a walking shell.

Basically what I was gonna say before...that...was that today REALLY made me realise just how horrible kichis cleaning session was. My cat had a bit of an accident so my mom went to clean it and accidently left a wet piece of paper on the floor. She asked me to pick it up. There were genuine tears in my eyes over a LITERAL PIECE OF PAPER!! It wasnt even pee on it just water but OH MY it like picked up the dust and I was disgousted. Now imagine i had to touch vomit. I think I woukd actually die right there on the spot XD wow now I wanna hug kokichu even more ooohh i am dying for when the comfort part wws but we need more hurt first!! The comfort is EARNED!! anyway yeah. I guess that part really just raises the question of what they did when an area had snow or rain christmas morning before Rudolph?

the elves. a bunch of really short non-human creatures who's whole purpose is to build things for kids, despite never interacting with them? that sounds a it like the brownies from the uk and ireland (I think, dont quote me on the exact locations of any of this folklore) all got kicked off of their land and needed somewhere to live.

(not technically christmas specifically, but deserved a special mention) Jack Frost. a british/american spirit that was commonly blamed for fern frost forming on windows (this doesn't happen to most houses anymore because of a specific coating they put on the newer ones). His name most likely came from a merging and rebranding of two norse spirits, Jokul AND Frosti (ice or icicle and frost, respectfully). given his possible origins, I feel pretty comfortable that we (american eclectic witches) should be working with/worshipping him more often (maybe for global warming?)

hello, hope you're doing well <3 idk if requests are open rn, but- i've been having a hard time with my disability cause of the cold and was wondering if you could write any of your characters (or a new friend!!) giving a disabled reader comfort during a tough time? particularly regarding chronic pain and joint issues?

I specifically want to write this so badly because of my own joint issues (in my early 20's no less) and I love these topics cause there's never enough of them it seemes

As disclaimer I don't have chronic pain so if I portray anything in a way that's not realistic please point it out so I can do better by folks who deal with this. This goes for any time I write about any disability

And you get a new friend entirely, specifically while thinking of the best kind of partner to help with chronic pain I had an idea and I hope you don't mind that I'm using my own monster creation for this, but I really wanted a chance to talk about him regardless

It was already overwhelming by the time you woke up mid-morning to see the sun shining far too brightly into your room.

Your body ached, your joints strained, it was going to be a bitch of a day.

It took time to get up and move, briefly you'd wondered what sort of level you'd be riding on today, and by extension what mobility aid you'd need to use.

For now though, something to drink and something for pain. By the time you made it to the apothecary cabinet, you were ready to sit on the floor and take a few minutes of rest... The cold certainly wasn't helping and today was a really bad day.

"Hearth of my home, are you awake?" Vydon's voice rings out from the back door as he enters the kitchen, no doubt having gone out to the forest for the early morning to hunt. His voice hissing and clicking with bone against bone as the exposed skull of the nightstalker spoke in layered tones.

The nightmarish form of a prey species turned predator rounded the corner, pointed hooves clopping and his skeletal snout peered around the corner of the kitchen, turning to face you. Vydon's white glowing eyes peered at you as he moved on all fours before easily swapping to standing on his hind legs, looming straight down over you as he shifted closer. His antlers had fallen off apparently, shedding season had finally arrived. "My warmth in the cold, why are you seated upon this floor?" His voice was attempting some form of soft tones despite the natural hiss to his words.

"Can't get up." Your response has him lowering himself further, taloned hands slowly hovering over your shoulders, ready to lift you up.

"Bad day?" His jaw clicks a few times as he speaks, listening intently.

"Shit day." You reiterate, "Cold doesn't help, I just want something to knock me out for a bit at least so I don't have to deal with my body's revolt." You nod to the cabinet you had opened to rifle through the various medicines inside.

Vydon drops his skeletal snout, swinging is slowly side to side as his tail sways behind him slowly. "On an empty stomach no doubt... May I lift you, my light?" The gray fur and bone covered creature questions, hands hovering closer to you.

"I don't know..." He'd learned the places you ache the worst and how to carry you to avoid disturbing those spots further but today wasn't just a few spots, everything just hurt.

Vydon clicked his jaw lightly, ears flicking slightly as he debated something. "Then rest here momentarily. I will bring you something to drink, and rest upon until you feel you are ready to move."

The nightstalker nodded his head and with a garbled rumble, turned to the main kitchen, yet his ears remained pointed back towards you, listening still.

He returned after a moment, laying a cushion beside you as close as he could and offering a mug of something warm enough to heat your insides but cold enough not to burn so you could take your pain meds. You listened to him ponder as you sipped on what turned out to be apple cider. Having taken your meds and the toasty feeling of a warm drink not erasing your pain, but soothing it somewhat. The cushion was nice too. Without noticing Vydon's tail circling around you, a light wool blanket was deposited onto your shoulders as well while he spoke, trying to rid you of your aching chill.

"-y dear, did you hear me?" Vydon's voice calls out in a soft hiss as he lowered himself to be eye level with your seated form.

His words bring you back to attention and make you shake your head, "spacing out, nothing to worry about." You don't want to bother him right now.

He clicks his jaw at your words. "Funnily enough, I was saying you need not act as though you are fine, that you can manage and handle this alone, that I shouldn't worry." Vydon slowly settled on his haunches as he watches you. "I hold the privilege of worrying for you, as it means you trust me to do right by you when you are in need of any assistance."

"I'm a burden." You respond calmly, it's not entirely upsetting to you, it just is.

"yes, you are." He agreed... That's what catches you off guard. Yet he continues with such affection in his tone. "Everyone is a burden at one point or another, I have been to you a monumental amount of times. You spent so long learning how to cook food that we both could safely eat. As I am a being of raw meat, and you a human who could so easily be harmed by certain types of raw food, it was a challenge for you to learn how to feed a carnivorous creature like myself." His skeletal muzzle lowers to gingerly press against the side of your arm, not risking anything else until he knew you wouldn't be uncomfortable from his actions.

"My antlers fall off in bloody heeps and each spring when they regrow the velvet falls off in fleshy bloody strands that you so often aid me with despite my objections as I know it's a messy bloody burden, but you do so because you love me, you don't love me despite such things. They are a part of me that you love, inconvenience and all." His tail slowly shifts across the floor to circle around you without touching you.

"And as such, I do not love you in spite of your ailments. Why, I wished they did not harm you so, and if I could I'd fight your illnesses one by one, but as they exist it is another part of you I will care for as you are you. I will love you through it all."

You take a moment, listening to his jumbled words. He's trying his best that's for certain, and when his taloned hand carefully holds out a heated water bottle placed into the plush bear it's made for, you take the warm item and hold it in your hands with a nod. "I guess that makes sense. Most folks would say I'm not a burden though if I said I was."

"that would be as if I lied about being a burden to you when hunting season returns and you have to find me covered in blood and hose me down. I will not lie to you, but I will never not love you either."

What is there to do other than to agree? You both sit silently for a few minutes, Vydon seems completely relaxed and at peace waiting for you to feel up to moving back to bed so he can bring you breakfast as well.

Eventually you hold a hand out to him, your body still aches, but the bed will be more comfortable than here, and with how carefully the night stalker takes your hand, you know he'll help as much as he can.

Overall, season 6 was a ROLLERCOASTER and probably my new favorite season. There was so much going on, and it did not disappoint. I can't wait to see the next season, AND for those of you who don't know, there has been a mention of a third arc which means possibily 10 seasons instead of 7!!!!! But in order for that to happen we need to show as much support as possible so yeah! If we do get those 3 extra seasons I will never shut up about this series
