I was thinking about the stained glass paintings of the Descendants universe (for reasons), and... Cotillion. There is a stained glass picture of Cinderella and Prince Charming... It's not the easiest to spot as its on the lower floor, but its behind Belle and Beast.

So, either racism exits in Descendants at the highest level possible, there are multiple Cinderella's (which tbh would be very entertaining XD Imagine Brandi's Cinderella, the animated Cinderella, and Lily James Cinderella all just sitting down and having tea while talking about their days. no i'm totally not having a fic idea of the three meeting up like a multiverse thing *cough*), OR Rise of Red is on a completely different timeline/universe (multiverse anyone?)

(no but tbh the multiverse theory is my favorite for the absolute chaos it could bring. Have one of the characters, a Wonderland kid probably, be someone who can walk through the universes. Maybe team up with a demigod.)

For what it's worth, I want to read your writing! lack of audience can really get to a writer but I feel sometimes one needs to be reminded of why they write? Are you writing for yourself or to please strangers, which I get is obviously important for motivation and as a professional worker but I guess what I'm trying to say is don't be too down about it. I appreciate your hard work and amazing stories.

For what it's worth, I want to read your writing! Thank you, anon, that means a lot to me!

I agree with "write for yourself", because you'll never please other people/have to select who you want to please, and that's never going to end well. You can't please everyone. I used to be in the Tales series fandom, and I'd have mixed feelings about some of the games that contradicted the way others felt. I liked some of the lesser known/older games for the same reasons people hated them. So as a creator, you have to think about what feels right to yourself. It's good advice, but I have seen it taken out of context. (For the record, I don't see that happening here, because you do clarify that it's harder when you're stepping into the profession. I'll get into that in a minute, if that's okay!)

That said, I think there needs to be a distinction between writing and sharing. Writing is a process for myself, but the career aspect is stressful and straining and honestly feels hopeless most days. I hate the idea that every single part of a story needs to be about the plot, because the formulaic ways of the publishing industry don't work for every story, every writer. I think the existence of fanfic is proof enough of that, actually! So many of us love fics that cover what might have happened behind the scenes or just… we'll read fifteen different stories of the same tropes for a single ship. And tbh, I think a lot of writers - including myself - really prefer to have more canon included than the publishing industry has room for.

I'm trying to find a middle balance, personally. I want to share! I'm an avid reader, and if no one had shared, what would I have read growing up? Plus the want of financial stability, which is pressure I sincerely despise. I'd happily share everything for free if I had $100k-$120k a year for the rest of my life so I could have my house, healthcare, 3-5 cats, garden, video games, and home library. xD

Sharing is actually pretty difficult for me. I barely showed anyone my work until I was in my mid-twenties. I started writing stories down at age seven. I'm now in my thirties. But sharing is something I want to do and it doesn't get easier after all this time of trying to spread my work. Past the perfectionism (I am definitely working on this and have already made improvements) and the history of bullying I've had over my writing (of which there's been a lot). Overcoming all of that is tough. Which means I feel a little extra sensitive to the idea that if something of mine isn't getting traction, it's confirmation of all the times someone mocked my writing or vaguetweeted by a BNF to make fun of fics I'd just posted. And while I'm starting to realize that some of that likely comes from jealousy - not necessarily that I'm a great writer that poses a threat, but just that my writing means that I might take attention from them in the fandom (which is not how that works) - it's still so hard to stop thinking, "What if they were right?" when I don't get any or very few likes/reblogs or kudos/comments, etc.

I have worked very hard to be a better writer, thinking I could escape that. Now I'm beginning to recognize that that hard work has paid off, but I was also never as bad as everyone made me feel (including myself). I want to keep working hard, because my standards for myself are high.

My writing makes me so happy, I can't describe how much. So even through all the pain above? I still do it. I just think that maybe there needs to be more separation between writing and the results of that ever reaching the public eye. (Most of my writing doesn't. I write a lot. XD)

Sorry to get a little real there. And so lengthy, ugh! I never can say things briefly.

Thank you for reading out, though, and thank you for reading my writing. There are more people reading my works than I know, but sometimes I fear that I'm the only one who will want what I'm making.

I've had IRL and health issues bringing me down too, which overlapped with stressing out over the editing of the next chapter of the story I've been posting. That chapter wasn't making me happy, so I'm taking a break, ignoring it a few days, and going back with fresh eyes later. So that all was knocking down my mood, and seeing only one person comment on the latest chapter, I was like, "Oh, maybe I'm just making a big old mess of this story"… perhaps because I see the mess in my head? Every possible path I threw out, every scene I want to write but won't fit in the story, every part I feel is lacking, every bit of character and world info, etc. Is that translating into something coherent on the page, I wonder, and… it's a lot to think about.

Hbj, first of all I hope you have a great day. The theories about Jake using the character, it's making me crack my head, I've always been suspicious of the fact that he has such a quick love interest in MC, I don't see the point in him trusting and liking lovingly so fast in someone he doesn't know, whenever things get tough, he loves to say sweet things to calm down.

I love Jake, but of all the questions he can ask a stranger he decides to ask if MC has a boyfriend? It's like he wants to make sure he can use this method and after episode 8 when we decided to tell how we felt about what happened with Richy, I found him so cold in his responses, trying to treat the situation as unimportant and that bad things happen and when he saw that he was not convinced, he started to say beautiful things, I found it strange that he thought about giving up his sister for a complete stranger, because that's what we are, we don't know Jake and neither does he know us.

Despite all the theories, I know that when I talk to Jake again I'm going to trust him completely, after all they are theories, but the signs are there.

Well, first of all, even though the topic hurts a little, just like with you, but I love talking about it.

And I apologize in advance that the answer has become so long. I didn't expect that myself. xD

I fully understand your thoughts about this, and I’m also afraid that Jake is just taking advantage of us. I try to be as neutral as possible, so as not to be completely biased.

Okay, so I can say for myself, and for many others, that we’re actually the same on that point with Jake. We also trust him incredibly fast although he is anything but trustworthy at the beginning.

You know, I think the relationship between MC and Jake is a little bit based on soul mates. That it’s not a coincidence that we get to know him and that we get along so quickly.

We write more with Jake than with the other characters with whom we can enter into a closer relationship. For example, Richy, even when you flirt with Richy, it goes very fast to the point where you can get closer to him.

I think in some ways this "everything goes fast" is also simply because of the way the game works. I mean, we can’t take so much time to get to know everybody.

We immediately talk to all the characters, and directly a lot. If it would take longer in the game, it would be strange firstly because of Hannah, because she would be kidnapped much longer, and secondly, there would be a lot of tension missing. At least I think so.

You know, I think he’s asking MC if we have a boyfriend, actually, is more of a sign that he’s really interested. I don’t consider Jake to be someone who gets closer to someone when the person is already in a relationship. I think he really wanted to know. Because if he did all this just to make us trust him, he might not care if MC is in a relationship or not.

As we can notice, Jake has a hard time getting social contacts, having a hard time with things like smalltalk, etc. he tells us (we can ask him that, but I think only in the premium version) that he is and always was alone. (I can’t remember his exact wording.) And later he tells us that Hannah and Lilly are the only family he has left.

I think MC has just been the first person to really care about him for a long time, asking him more private questions. Directly during our second conversation with him, we can talk to him about the desert island, and ask him, for example, which programs he uses to hack.

I think, as he says himself, we immediately had a good relationship with each other. And if he’s been alone for a long time, and then someone like MC comes and pays attention to his personality, and not just superficially, he enjoys it.

We have not been deterred by him and his performances, and have treated him as a normal person. Not, for example, like the government that sees him as a criminal, but we know he’s a hacker, but we don’t let that put us off.

In episode 8, when Lilly criticizes us for really trusting him, we can say that we had no choice. We had to trust him, to help Hannah.

And so it was for him with MC. He was just trying to save his sister who was kidnapped in front of him. And all of a sudden, our number comes from Hannah. He had as few options as we had. He’s just trying to find his sister, so he has to trust the person whose number seems to have something to do with it.

Moreover, we are all in a dark time. A kidnapper and murderer who kidnapped one person, murdered one person, and maybe even a second one, Richy.

Everything is always under stress and we are working hard to find and save Hannah. Stress, grief and worry. When two people like MC and Jake meet and have to work so closely together, then a little distraction is really good. Or being drawn closer to someone when you’re desperate.

And then he writes a pretty agitated message, I don’t know if you ever chose this option, I can recommend it to you.

I think we can see how Jake really is when we talk to him about that Hannah might have done something to herself.

Jake says, "But if you think she might have done something to herself, that’s out of the question."

We can then say it’s okay, and we’ll continue to talk to him. However, we can continue to talk about it and tell him, for example, that we should not exclude anything. He’s still stubborn, and we can tell him, "Why are you so stubborn?"

However, he sounds so desperate and worried and it also sounds a bit like a reproach, so that he even apologizes afterwards and says that he did not want us to feel bad about him.

Yes, unfortunately Jake, in episode 8 when we talk about Richy, sounds and is very cold and emotionless. I think it’s just hard for him to understand how it felt. And "unfortunately" he is more focused on finding Hannah that is one of the only things that interest him.

I think Jake is also kind of blaming himself for not being able to help Hannah faster.

As we also know from episode 8, Hannah had sent him an email. However, this address was no longer active, and he only saw it when it was actually too late. He called her right away, but if he’d seen the message sooner, that might never have happened. Of course, it’s not his fault, but that’s how we humans are. And I think it’s the same with him.

If he feels guilty, I can understand that he wants to help so badly. He probably blames himself for breaking off contact with her at the time. That he didn’t dare tell his sister he is her brother.

Maybe then everything would have been different, and Hannah wouldn’t have ended up in this situation.

I think he was thinking of giving up on Hannah and running away with MC because it was stressful for him, too. He also suffers from the situation, but does not admit it to himself.

As he says himself, he tries to look at everything as objectively as possible, so he ignores what happened to Jessy and Richy. Because I think he’s also hiding his own feelings.

And in between, we can see him from the emotional side. Only rarely, but sometimes it happens.

And right now he realizes that for some time it would be easier to disappear with MC and turn your back on everything. Since the situation also burdens him, it is quite normal to think about choosing the easier way, which would also make him feel better.

But, as he also says, this would bring nothing. The responsibility would catch up with us and we would live forever with the guilt of just letting Hannah down.

And last but not least: the topic of manipulation.

And yes, that’s exactly what Jake is doing with us, manipulating us by using our feelings for him, and calming us down by telling us nice things.

Best we see this in episode 7. After his pursuers tried to hack us. Although he used this method before, manipulated us, but in episode 7 it is the most extreme to see.

However, I have to say that we are doing the same thing with him. We’re doing the same thing.

And best we see that, in episode 8.

When we tell him that the others want to see what we have for clues, etc., and the others want him to come into the group.

We know for a fact that Jake isn’t thrilled. But we get him to decide against it by saying, "I can’t do this without you."

And that’s actually also a point that shows me that Jake really likes us, he gives in and accepts the situation after we tell him that.

And that’s exactly what happens when we ask him to write the letter to Ted with Lilly, where we can tell him that we’d like him to be there. And from that moment, Jake says yes.

If he really didn’t want it, or he didn’t care that we told him we couldn’t do it without us, he wouldn’t give in.

He would just keep saying that he doesn’t want to and he doesn’t want to talk to us about it.

We wouldn’t even have time to contradict him, or just tell the others everything, since he could have erased any evidence from our phone.

He lets us manipulate him as much as he manipulate us.

And he writes when he joins the group chat that he wants to change his mind to tell the others everything, because of us.

And even the others realize that Jake likes us.

Lilly, for example, says (when we talk to her in episode 6) that he interrupted the vote, that his reaction wasn’t normal just because he cared about the subject. He’s very biased, not just because we’re important to him to save Hannah. It’s because we were treated unfairly by Lilly and the others.

Jessy says to Phil that there’s someone who likes us, but she doesn’t know if we’re reciprocating his feelings.

I don’t think I need to say anything about Dan, do I?

Jake and MC are not as inconspicuous together as the two think themselves.

I think I’ve addressed the most important things now, so I want to say an end conclusion: I really believe that Jake likes us and not just manipulates us. I really think he wants to get closer to us.

I’m not a psychologist or anything, of course, but I think Jake has some psychological problems that he might even know himself. Many things are difficult for him and I can often identify with him on this point.

His actions and manner are not always the right ways, sometimes he does not know how to behave and what is okay and what is not. We can see it with Jessy and Richy.

With us, he tries to show empathy and support us, which is why he wants us to rest a little afterwards.

Jake doesn’t seem to have had an easy life, and of course that leaves its mark. I don’t think he’s that cold sometimes because he means it badly.

I know we haven’t known him for long, but this whole situation is so special that it’s not surprising that MC and Jake get along so well and get closer.

Of course I can’t say exactly, maybe it’s really all just played by him, that we will only see at the end, but I don’t think that everything is fake.

Malleus + Lilia

Lilia and Malleus are one of the better pairs of yanderes to share a darling. Malleus is so eager to keep his darling locked up, away from everyone, everything. But simultaneously Malleus has a weak spot for Lilia, he looks up to the older fae and desperately wants to gain his approval. He also trusts his judgment, so if Lilia wants to play a little bit "rough" with the darling then Malleus is willing to turn a blind eye. On the other hand, Lilia has a sicker, much more twisted manner of thinking about their situation, the older fae doesn't just see the Darling as his property he also sees Malleus as his now! Yes in Lilia's warped mind both Malleus and the poor darling belong to him and only him. 

Life with the two isn't too bad, it's really all a matter of staying on both their good sides. Don't tick off one and expect the other to side with you. Malleus always takes Lilia's side no matter what, in his eyes, the pink and black-haired fae can do no wrong. On the other hand, Lilia just doesn't care. 'Malleus put you under a sleeping curse?' oh well that just how he is. 'Malleus broke your arm when he mistakenly thought you were attempting to escape?' That's just how things are around here better get used to it. 

Just sit around like a nice pretty doll and let the two powerful fairies do as they want with you and everything will be okay.

Jade + Floyd

It all started when you made the mistake of asking Jade out on a date. One day when you'd swallowed up enough courage you marched up to your senior and all but begged for a date. To your surprise, Jade had agreed, hesitantly but never the less the "yes" was said. Oh, how happy you had been that day. Rushing back to your dorm room to doll yourself up.  Fantasizing about the date as you danced around the room.

But when you actually arrived at the Mostro Lounge somethings off. Jade isn't...well, right. His smile is too big stretching across his cheeks in the most unnatural manner. His eyes have lost their spark, they're dull and dead almost like they're made of silicone. His personality isn't right either, he's too fidgety too hyper. He's all but bouncing off the walls and singing every other word.

When you finally walk over to him, the teal haired teen lounges himself at you, wrapping his arms so tightly around your body that air can't pass through your lungs. It's in that quick-paced breathless moment that you realize your mistake. This isn't Jade, this isn't the sweet charismatic gentleman no..this is his brother Floyd, the one person in NRC that haunts your dreams. The one boy that never goes one day without screaming your name through the hallways and "accidentally" bumping into you.

Try as you might to get out of his grasp and run for the exit, it's all futile. The younger just keeps hugging tighter and tighter until pesky black spots start to float around your sight, the bright lights fade into shimmering orbs as your consciences slowly slips away.

It's later when you wake up that you notice just how grave and hopeless your situation is. The grinning faces of both twins are peering down at you, sharp teeth on full display as they get closer and closer...

These two are the most in sync yanderes you will ever meet. Sure they seem like polar opposites but when it comes to their darling they can agree on practically EVERYTHING.

Now friendly reminder that Floyd is the more aggressive one out of the two. His cold fingers are always trickling over your skin, pinching the flesh as he proclaims how "cute" you are. Jade is the last string of sanity for both you and his brother. He makes sure you are both in line and never go overboard...technically Floyd never goes overboard. Jade is also much more hesitant to hurt their precious darling, he does enjoy how much you need him, but he hates seeing his little "goldfish" (the only fish's name I can write without getting a mini heart attack, yes I hate fish that much XD) in any form of pain. Now both marks are a completely different story, both twins adore marking their darling. Jade prefers to leave "love bites" over your neck and shoulders trailing down to your arms, while Floyd prefers to mark your thighs and torso area.

The twins may not be the most intense yanderes but they aren't very subtle either, just when you're starting to go with the flow they change something to throw you off and send you spiraling down a waterfall of confusion.

Riddle + Chenya Riddle and Chenya are the most contradicting yanderes you'll ever meet. These two can't agree on anything! Riddle usually set rules but Chenya always manages to convince their darling to break them under the pretext that "they won't get punished". Technically he's not telling a complete lie, He won't get punished but you sire will. Riddle is slightly more sympathetic when he's punishing his darling for a broken rule that Chenya convinced them to break. He knows that it's all his childhood friend's fault but he still has to discipline you with the hope that next time you won't listen to that idiot.

Now both these boys are possessive and desperate for any form of affection their beloved will give. Doesn't matter if it's kisses or gentle head pats so long as they can feel their s/o's tender fingers over their flesh. This usually leads to a tug of war between childhood friends. One of them is always trying to strangle your attention away from the other. Wither its Chenya sneaking up behind you and Riddle while you cuddle or Riddle yell and screaming until you and Chenya break apart your kiss and make room for him on the couch.

Overall these two are so chaotic together that sometimes their darling wonders why they even teamed up in the first place...

Leona + Ruggie Leona and Ruggie are actually a very underhanded duo. It's obvious from the start that Leona is pulling the strings. He manipulated Ruggie into helping him, briding the younger boy with the promise of the darling's undying love or food, either one works. It's Ruggie that does the physical kidnapping, it's also Ruggie that has to take care of the darling. Making sure they stay fed, clean, having something to wear after both he and Leona got rather aggressive on some nights. He does all the heavy lifting, while Leona just lays around cuddling the darling before falling asleep.

Leona has multiple ways of keeping both Ruggie and the darling in line. He's always being so considerate, so "caring" constantly showing them in pricey gifts or treating them over the top fancy restaurants. Anything at all no matter how expensive as long as it keeps them compliant.

These two do make a good team, but it's all manipulation and mind games. When the dust settles did either of them really love you? Or was it all a sick game for the two wild beasts? 

Divus + Sam

Now Divus and Sam are a rather...odd mix. They don't work very well as a team at first, they're constantly bickering arguing over the smallest things. What their darling will wear, what she'll eat, etc, etc

It gets so bad at one point that Divus and Sam actually start a custody battle over the poor darling. The other teachers are intrigued, playing along for their own amusement. At some point, Lilia - only wanting to see how disastrous it will be- suggests a trial like they do in the movies and because the teachers in NRC are over-glorified children themselves that's exactly what they do!

The jury is made up of the dorm leaders, all reluctant to be there -with the exception of Kalim and a very confused Malleus- Ashton is Divus' lawyer, a horrible one at that. The man has no idea what's going on and is constantly yelling "OBJECTION"!  At some point, Azul and Riddle take their gym teacher aside to explain the basic principles of a courtroom to him.  He's slightly better after that bringing in students to testify for professor Crewel after he promises them a passing mark in his class that is.

Mozus is surprisingly a great lawyer, he has the perfect "witness", asks all the right questions and is constantly throwing shade at how bad Ashton is at anything that requires a bit of wit.

Crowley is obviously the judge, he's just happy to be there honestly. The poor bird-man's throat is slowly going raw from the number of times he's screamed at Ashton to quite down, at Leona to wake up, at Kalim to sit down, at Vil to stop checking his makeup and at Idia to get off his dame phone! An hour into the "Trial" and he already has his verdict.

That leaves you, the reason this whole catastrophe started. You're seated by the headmaster, dressed up in a glittering white dress, your hair and makeup done as if you were the guest of honor at some banquet. Your hands are threaded with silver handcuffs identical to those used on criminals if anyone with no prior knowledge to these events was to enter they surely would think that you were the criminal on trial here.

Finally Crowley proposes a split. Divus gets the darling from Sunday to Tuesday, while Sam gets her on Thursday until Saturday. With Wednesday being a day in which they both get their beloved. The setup works for a few weeks, almost shy of a whole month but...

It gets too much, neither men can standing being apart from their lover for three whole dame days! It's to vexing, too taxing. So they find another way, actually, it's Sam that turns up one day at Divus' room looking like a kicked puppy and all but begging to see their darling. Feel a tingle of pity Divus lets him in. This ends up becoming a normal thing. Every time Sam has you Divus will show up in his room and visa versa. They get better at sharing, agreeing with one another, one may even say they start to enjoy each other's company as much as their darling's.

I look at a lot of stuff on Pinterest and one of people's reasons on why Oumasai is toxic is because Kokichi made Shuichi want to kill himself? Something tells me this is wrong but I'm not sure what proves it wrong. (I mean they also point out that Kokichi mocks Shuichi for mourning Kaede-) I'm asking about this because its been eating at me and trying to prove that it isn't toxic.

Hooo boy this is gonna be long so buckle up! I’m sorry I couldn’t make this shorter I just really go all ace attorney mode when it comes to this type of stuff.

I think what they’re referring to is how Shuichi got really depressed after discovering that the world had ended, but how can it be Kokichi’s fault? He literally wasn’t the mastermind, he didn’t make all that stuff up. Heck, he was the first one to even see that motive and on his own it was way worse to deal with. His behaviour was so out of line that Kaito got fed up with him and punched him for the nonsense he was saying.

The motive was supposed to make everyone fall to despair, it’s purpose was legit what happened to Miu where she NEEDED to go out to help out the world before everyone was gone. The motive was MEANT to be seen to make the game “More interesting” but Kokichi didn’t let the others see it until he finally convinced them that he’s the mastermind. If he didn’t the Mastermind would find a way to show it to them in a different way and there’s no knowing what could happen, and if he showed it to them himself they’re bound to believe what he’s saying considering the fact it’s obvious he already knew about this. He took that motive to basically make everyone give up on trying escape by killing each other, since as the mastermind he said “The game’s over now! There’s no point.” to prevent another murder from happening. AND IT WORKED, for a long while no murder took place but of course the actual mastermind couldn’t just sit idly and let the game be “boring” (Which was Kokichi’s goal) So they made a flashback light that Maki ended up seeing and calling the others to see, and the flashback light made everyone including Maki believe that Kokichi was a remnant of despair. They wanted to get rid of Kokichi for messing with the game and taking over their position, and this was their way to do it.

So, after all that, if others see that KOKICHI was the reason Shuichi wanted to give up for a second there. Then I really don’t know what to say. Shuichi has went through so much already because of the killing game and Kokichi’s attempt to stop the killing game is not the reason he wanted to give up. It was because he lost a lot his friends and because the world was most probably all gone. At that point he had nowhere to go back to and everything he has worked so hard for was for nothing because there’s nothing left. Kokichi didn’t do anything to Shuichi for him to be the sole reason he suddenly wanted to die. His depression got the best of him after being all alone with his thoughts for a couple of days, not eating or moving just sleeping the entire time. If anyone is at fault it’s the mastermind for making up such a cruel lie that even made Gonta commit murder to “save” the others.

And for the mocking him about Kaede’s death part (Which is literally one line after Shuichi removed his hat) Kokichi at that point had witnessed that the killing game was real and it was going to get him eventually. He wasn’t alright either and he had already started to make everyone hate him, acting more hostile and annoying so they all stay away (since anyone who groups up everyone or brings them hope will end up like Kaede did) He didn’t want to be the next Kaede or Rantaro. It started with that line but in the end he cut off all ties he had (if he had any) in chapter 4 so that they have no doubt that he is only full of malice and that he is indeed the mastermind.

“But how do you know that he has been devising that plan since back then?” Remember the “horse a” message? the first letters were added to it right before the next morning after the first trial where Shuichi entered the dining room without his hat. Sometime between the end of the first trial and the morning of the next day, Kokichi would begin to devise of a plan to get everyone to think that he was the mastermind of this killing game, willing to be seen as evil for the sake of ending this madness. To begin this plan, he would leave a subtle message in the courtyard "Horse A", which he would later fill in with more letters as the killing game continued.

If it wasn’t already obvious, Kokichi is a LIAR. And his biggest lie of being the mastermind started after he saw the deaths of Rantaro and Kaede. That first chapter affected Kokichi a lot, he lied and lied to hide it but he was shaken up by the sudden death of Rantaro and was devastated by Kaede’s death. Though all he could say at her last moments is that she wasn’t boring. Because he knew, if he was truthful? Eyes would be on him immediately and he would be in danger.

Kokichi did his best to be the person he would hate the most, he lies so much yet says he hates liars, then says that’s a lie. Making everyone confused as to what the hell is right or wrong in what he’s saying. But he couldn’t keep up his facade forever especially when he was starting to get interested and even attached to Shuichi. In one completely optional scene in chapter 3 he legit says that he doesn’t want Rantaro to be the one who gets resurrected (Though he probably was more interested in him because he obviously knew more than he let on in chapter 1. Asking everyone about the Ultimate Hunt when no one else remembered it until they say the flashback lights, his fight with Hoshi, and how he was so sure that he WILL end the killing game. Kokichi even had his effigy in his room because he saw it as a clue or evidence that can help later, he needed to know what he was hiding and what his talent was.) and despite all that when Shuichi asks why he doesn’t want Rantaro to be the one, he says “Because you’d rather have Kaede back.” Of course he writes it off as a lie, but then right after that he SHOWS Shuichi his interest in Rantaro saying he might be working for the mastermind. The exact lines are:

Kokichi: “What if Rantaro was working for the mastermind? Bringing him to life might be a bad idea.” 

(Trying to make Shuichi believe that he really did lie there about his reason why he didn’t want Rantaro to come back by making him believe that THIS was the real reason. I don’t know exactly if he entertained the idea or not, but he most probably did not believe Rantaro to be the mastermind here. He might have even made up that killing game anime he was talking about. Its’ real for us but might not be for them.)

Shuichi: “N-no that’s idiotic! Rantaro couldn’t have been working for the mastermind...:

“But is it really impossible? We only knew Rantaro for a short time. He did seem as though he was kind of used to the killing game”

The “used to” in that sentence was highlighted. THIS was Kokichi’s intention, to make Shuichi realise that Rantaro knew more than he let on. Which reinforces Kokichi’s interest in him. But Shuichi fell for Kokichi’s trap earlier and didn’t notice at all that he slipped the fact Rantaro would give more information.

It’s confusing I know, Kokichi’s thing is mind games after all. But what I’m trying to say is that for Kokichi’s goal to figure out this killing game and how to end it Rantaro would be most ideal to bring back but he just wanted to tell Shuichi that he’d rather have Kaede instead just so he’s happy. The evidence for that is how even after he says its a lie he lowkey shows Shuichi he’s more interested in Rantaro instead. It reminds me of those scenes where he says “WAAAHH I THOUGHT YOUD KNOW I HATE COFFEE” then right after he’s like “I’m tired of all that crying can I have a cup of coffee please.” Or “I actually can’t taste anything!” then “anyway my faves are spice and sugar!”

Kokichi did say something insensitive when he said “Is it cause Kaede died or whatever?” but it didn’t bother Shuichi at all he just brushed it off since he saw how he acted in the trial earlier. It wasn’t a surprise to him. Kaede’s death affected Kokichi too, and that line doesn’t match up with what he said about bringing Kaede back.

You never know what’s the truth and what’s a lie with Kokichi, everything he says contradicts each other. So how is it that all these people who hate Kokichi and call him toxic take his worst lines or moments as the truth when the context of his entire character and motive says otherwise. When he had to crush Shuichi the most so he believes that he is full of malice without a single doubt. To make him believe he was really the mastermind immediately, so he doesn’t go all detective on him like he usually does.

Kokichi’s actions were terrible yes but they were LIES he did it for a purpose that’s what makes him a grey character when in a KILLING GAME. It’s shown in salmon team that under normal circumstances the two would get along and Shuichi would want to learn more about Kokichi and his true self.

TLDR; Leave these children be, they were in a killing game. No ship is toxic unless it’s shown that person was terrible / messed up from the start and would hurt whoever they’re with. Those users just obviously don’t like Kokichi and hate seeing him with anyone XD and it’s obvious with how they blame him over a motive Monokuma/ the Mastermind has created and straight up ignoring the intentions behind his actions.

I get hating a character or a ship but oh my god can you not spread misinformation for others to feel obligated to agree? Toxic is such a strong word and I hate how people keep associating it with every ship they dislike. Making others feel bad for what comforts them! If Saiouma was so toxic how come it makes so many people happy? How come it makes people literally calm down,  stop crying, and feel warm. Saiouma is one of the most adorable and realistic ships out there... Don’t ruin it for everyone else just because you don’t agree with how we feel. Just say you’re not a fan and move on!

Anyway don’t worry your ship is very valid! You can continue supporting them without feeling any guilt and if anyone calls it toxic they can see me so I break their kneecaps.

“Did you actually tell Tsukauchi that you want me to be your partner for the stakeout?”

The day had now ended and Overhaul’s jacket rested on your shoulders. Your phone leaned on some stacked books as you typed away on your laptop.  As the both of you were chatting, you were typing some reports that you had to pass in a couple of days. On the other end, he was busy scribbling notes and signing papers.

“Is there a problem?” His eyes were focused and glued to the paperwork.

“None that I can think of~” Your fingers stopped typing. Fiddling with your fingers, you chewed on your lower lip. “I just, uhh, wasn’t expecting that request.”

“Tsukauchi was no hindrance and cooperation was present.” He put his pen down and rested his chin on his palm. His focus now on his screen. This would have to be the 6th video call this week, something he lowkey didn’t mind. Though, he kept his voice low knowing the others might overhear. “However, your company is one I prefer more.”

“Or in short, you miss hanging out with me?” Giving him the finger guns, you saw how his face morphed into one with disgust and embarrassment. Watching how he picked up his phone and face palmed, you knew he was about to end the call. Not on your watch. “WAIT! Chill Overhoe, I was just kidding.”

“Excuse me?”

“Depends what you want the excuse for.” Gods, you loved teasing this man so much.

“What did you just call me?”

“I called you Overhaul.” You tilted your head and pouted. “Did I not? Are the paper works getting to you, Chisaki?”

“There are days where I wish to use my quirk over the phone.” Thankful his mask was still on, the lingering smirk was covered. His eyes gave it away but he could care less. This was one of the moments where he could feel vuln-whut? “Today is one of them.”

“I’m not into sadistic kinky shit.” By now, you were grinning from ear to ear. Seeing how the corner of his eye indicated the corner of his mouth curled upwards was a win for you. If only he wasn’t wearing that god damn mask. At least it wasn’t the bird beak. “I prefer them sensual and slow. The type who does the opposite when I tell them to go slower~”

“Isn’t that statement contradicting itself?” Not that he’d know. Sexual fantasies were something he couldn’t help but to actually touch a woman’s body? Be so intimate and actually exchange thousands of bacteria through your mouths? The thought made his spine shake with the amount of grossness he couldn’t fathom. But a new question crept in, were you pure in that sense?

“That’s the whole point, Overhoe.”

“I honestly wonder why I tolerate your behavior.” It was more of a mumble but loud enough for the conversation to continue. Absentmindedly fixing the papers, he found himself done for the day and headed back to his room.

“You tolerate me because I’m the only one who has the guts to act like this.” Twirling your index, you pointed at yourself. “But in all seriousness, if you want me to be professional around you, just say so and I’ll take a step back.”

“There is no need for that.” Now in his room, his tensed shoulders relaxed a bit. Sliding his tie off, he placed it on his man-vanity. “Your behavior is unacceptable if it were them but exceptions are made from time to time.”

“You make me sound like a guilty pleasure.” That was meant to be said in silence but your mouth moved faster than your mouth. Activating your quirk, you failed to stop the blood flow heading towards your cheek.

“You are.” Taking his mask off, Overhaul watched as you failed to control the blush on your face. The small hitch your breath took made him want to see just how far was he going to go to get reactions from you. Placing his phone on the dock, he sat down and began to unbutton his dress shirt. His peripheral focus was on you.

‘OH GOD OH GOD.’ Your leg bounced up and down as you tried to look unfazed. Sliding the tie off was hot enough, and now the possible outcome of seeing him shirtless was now coming into the light. Surely he was doing this on purpose, no doubt about it. With what little sense of pride you had, you found the will not to watch his gloved hand slowly revealing more and more of his skin. ‘GEI WHAT THE HELL DO I DO IN THIS SITUATION?!’

‘Ya go with the flow baby girl! Teasing is better when it’s two sided! Live in the sexual tension and see if either of you break!’ You could hear him in your mind. It was so loud it made you think if he were actually telepathically communicating with you.

Tease him back, huh?

Taking in a deep breath, you began to test the waters.

“Didn’t take you to be the stripper type, Chisaki.” Luckily, you paused at the right time for him not to notice how your breathing stopped when his golden eyes met the camera once more. “But, I can’t refuse a little show coming from THE Overhaul.”

“Are you suggesting something, my sweet guilty pleasure?” He stopped unbuttoning his shirt and leaned on the backrest. What he did not expect was for your camera to turn off. Chuckling at the little exchange, he proceeded to undress himself. “Still there?”

You were still there, physically. Other than that, you knew you lost the game. There was no way to recover from him calling you his, HIS, guilty pleasure. Fanning your face, you tried to regain composure before finding the courage to turn the camera on again. Placing your phone screen down, your mind thought about what it’d sound like if he whispered it in person.

‘Fuck. Damn it.’ Your grip on the hem of his jacket was astronomical. Patting your chest, you felt the heat in your face cool down. “Yes. My signal got bad all of a sudden.”

“Don’t start something you can’t finish, (l/n).”

Grabbing your phone, you threw it back onto your bed. The holy sight of a shirtless Overhaul made you shriek in silence. Covering your face, you forgot about your quirk and felt all the blood rush to your cheeks. Peaking at the screen, you quietly observed as he was waiting for you to turn your camera back on. The teasing look on his features made him even more irresistible.

“Put on a shirt, Chisaki.”

“Later.” He stood up and good lord his V-line looked divine. “I have to end the call for now.”

“Whyyy?” Turning the camera on, Overhaul managed to see how your eyes went up and down.

“I’m filthy. I have to bathe.” Taking his belt off, he tossed it to his bed and walked towards his dresser.

“Any chances you can bring your phone with you?” Overhaul is the death of you but as of the moment, you didn’t care. He was shirtless and strutting his stuff. That’s all that matters.

“We haven’t reached that point yet, my guilty pleasure.”

“Stooop calling me that.” You hid your face with your free hand. Still peaking at the screen to find him smirking again.

“You are my guilty pleasure. I’m not going to deny that, (y/n).” Taking the phone from its dock. He stared at how flushed your face was. “You may not be pure but you always manage to plague my mind at the most random times. If I were to speak my mind, I would want to meet up and have dinner with you but those wretched heroes are starting to make a move.”

“We can always rendezvous here…” You offered without thinking. The words that came out of his mouth were intoxicating. “I doubt they’d think you’d actually drop by and watch Betflix in my unit.”

“Are you inviting me over?” He raised a brow.

“N-not necessarily.” Looking away from the screen, your mind began to come up with a plan as to how you could let him enter your apartment without being seen or being too suspicious. “I mean, the offer’s always up…”

“Heroes are trailing me, (l/n).”

“But the heroes don’t have a map of your base. They just have a rough outline of the area and that’s it.”

“Just say it, (l/n).”

“Pick you up in 30 minutes?” Your heart was beating rapidly. Was he actually going to do it?

“Give me 40.”

Ending the call, your jaw dropped and for a moment you were not sure what to do. Covering your mouth, you recalled the conversation and repeated his last words. 40 minutes. He would be arriving in your apartment in the next FORTY MINUTES. Jolting to the living room, you frantically fluffed the pillows and checked for any dust bunnies. Grabbing the vacuum, you found yourself cleaning your house at 9 in the evening.

After a good 10 minutes of rough vacuuming, the unit was now silent and clean. Scurrying to the supply closet, you grabbed a can of Kysol and sprayed the entire room. It wasn’t the best thing to inhale but if it meant sanitation, then so be it.

Heading back to your room, you quickly grabbed a pair of sweats and a shirt. Nothing too conspicuous you reminded yourself. Folding the jacket and placing it on the vacant side of the bed, you took your keys, wallet, and phone on the bedside table.

Now inside the elevators, you made sure to take a quick stop at the 3rd floor before heading to the basement. Closing the doors to your car, you took your phone and dialled Gei.

“A 9pm call.” Gei answered. “Either you’re bored as hell in a case OR somethin else boutta happen, hmm?”

“I’m getting Overhoe and he’s gonna chill in the unit.” You spoke fast but he took it all in.

“AAAHHHH!! QUEEN TODRICK! QUEEN BEYONCE! FINALLY!” Gei could hear you starting the car. Putting his wine glass down, he sat properly and took out his fluffy fan. “Are you gonna get some action, boo?!”

“No. We just…” What were you guys going to do? “It was a spur of the moment decision. I followed your advice and teased him and lived in the sexual tension and now here I am. Driving to pick him up.”

“So me sneezing really was you thinkin’ bout me~ Honey, you made the right decision by teasing that villain.”

“I saw him shirtless too.”

“OH?! Ya’ll be video callin now?!” His fingertips touched the tip of his chests. “Baby girl, you datin or nah? Cause that’s sumthing I can’t see him doin unless you special or some shit.”

Remembering what he called you, you held on tighter to the steering wheel. Seeing the red light, your car slowly stopped and that gave you enough chance to cover your heated up face once again.

“H-he c-called me his guilty pleasure.”

“(L/N) (Y/N)! I SWEAR TO THE QUEENS IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TONIGHT, YOUR LEGS AIN’T GONNA BE WORKIN FOR A WEEK!” Followed by shrieking and squealing, Gei finally cleared his throat and exhaled. “Are you ready?!”

“Gei, nothing is going to happen okay?” You assured him. “Overhaul thinks I’m filthy so there’s no way my legs aren’t safe. Besides, we were just teasing each other. It’s been a while since we last saw each other so I kinda offered my unit to just catch up.”

“My ass.”

Your screen lit up once more and his contact popped up.

“He’s calling. I gotta go.”

“Live for the moment boo. Show him why The Levi Ackerman fell for you!”

Hanging up, you put Overhaul on the line and parked by a dimly lit area.

“A block from the base, turn right and you’ll see a traditional looking house. Meet me there.” He gave instructions to which you followed. Telling him you were on your way, he hung up as well.

Making sure that you weren’t being trailed or followed, you turned to the corner and sure enough saw the mentioned house. Did he walk all the way here or was this some kind of hideout they used. Seeing the gates open, you saw him exiting the building.

Black sweats, jacket, cap, and mask. He looked like a quirkless burglar leaving the house respectfully. Stopping in front of him, you turned the door lights off and watched as he entered the car.

“Good evening.” He greeted.

“We didn’t really think this through now, did we?” Giving him a shy smile, you drove back to the main highway. “Is there anything you wanna eat?”

“It’s fine. I don’t think it is safe to linger.”

“I got that covered. Don’t worry.”

“Will we use the main elevator?”

“I will.” You pointed your finger at him. “You, my dear Chisaki, will be using the stairs.”

“Take me back to the base.”

“I’m joking~” You turned the vehicle to the left and saw the convenience store. “We’ll use the secondary elevator. Now wait here while I buy some snacks, ‘kay?”

“Don’t boss me around.” He raised his brow once more and he watched as you closed the doors and headed inside the building. Just in time, his phone rang with Kurono on the screen. “This better be important.”

“Are you with her?” Kurono asked cautiously. Making sure he knew what to call him in the next minutes to come.

“I won’t take long, Kurono. Keep the others in check.”

“What exactly is your purpose for tonight’s visit, Kai?”

“As you can recall, I’ve taken an interest in her.” He picked up a small lint from his pants and overhauled it. “We’ll just catch up and probably munch on some snacks.”

“Munch on some snacks?” He repeated slowly. “What’s next? Watch a movie?”

“If there’s nothing you need to inform me, Kurono, I’ll be ending the call now.”

For a second, Kurono felt the need to give some advice regarding what women like when things got intimate. Yet, knowing he’d end up dead and alive made him think otherwise. Besides, if you had a thing for Overhaul, what could possibly go wrong with ‘munching on some snacks’ with a yakuza boss?

“No. That’s all.” His voice was uncertain but left no room for questions. “Should I pick you up?”

“No need.” Before his right hand man could say anything, he ended the call. Just in time for you to exit the store with a paper bag full of chips and drinks. Remembering that scenery a few days ago, he had to wonder, was Ackerwacker still in your apartment? Probably not knowing he was invited.

Now that you were buckled up, the drive back to the apartment was surprisingly filled with small talk. Mostly about the Fukuo Kai case and the small behind the scenes activity Overhaul saw fit to share regarding the Shie Hassaikai.

Parking the car in its spot, you handed the paper bag to your companion. Following your lead, the both of you made your way towards the basement elevator. Things were relatively peaceful till the doors stopped closing and slid open once more.

“Evenin, (l/n)-san.” One of your neighbors greeted as he entered with his girlfriend. The stench of alcohol surrounding them. Staring at the man holding the groceries, he eyed him down and shrugged.

“Good evening, Sawada-san.” You nod politely. This was not looking pretty.

Elevator music played as the elevators went up. The elevator was quite cramped with 4 people in it. Observing the germaphobe, you were glad that he didn’t show any signs of breakouts or even just utter disgust at the sight beginning to unfold beside you two.

As if things weren’t awkward enough, the girlfriend began to become all touchy with Sawada. Her hands began to squeeze his butt as he pulled him in closer. Your eyes widened when said girl became bold and peppered kisses all over your neighbor’s neck.

The sound of kissing began to over power the elevator music. Despite Overhaul clearing his throat, the two did not mind. With only 3 floors left to pass, you were more than ecstatic when the doors slid open and provided exit. Quickly grabbing his sleeve, you pulled him out and scurried to your door.

“That was revolting.” He finally spoke up.

“It’s almost 11.” You unlocked your door. “That was bound to happen. I’ve seen worse.”

“Why do people even think such contact is pleasing?” Opening the doors, you let him walk in first. Telling him to place the food on the counter, the yakuza boss did so. Deciding to be a good guest, Overhaul began to unpack the chips and drinks you purchased. “You bought too much food.”

“One can never be too prepared~” Your back was facing him. Turning the TV on, you set it on Betflix and sat on the sofa. Stretching your limbs from the drive. Pointing to the vacant seat two pillows away from you, Overhaul took a seat and made sure that there was not a speck of dust. “So what movie d’you wanna watch?”

He refuses to admit to his feelings in the beginning. Why, you may ask? Simple: It’s embarrassing.

So he does what any normal tsundere would do in that sort of situation. He pushes you away by feigning his disinterest.

Naturally, his behavior comes off as rude and abrupt, but you’re able to see past that cold exterior.

Whenever you send a smile his way or compliment him for his good work, he’s quick to deny it. Though the bright blush on his cheeks always contradicts whatever he might say.

Sometimes he thinks you just enjoy messing with him, if only to see him turn red. It’s quite cute, and you can’t help but giggle when he starts to yell.

“It’s not adorable, so stop laughing! And don’t call me cute either!”

Once you’re together, Sian drops his rude act and becomes very affectionate. He still gets shy over small aspects of your relationship, such as holding hands in public or even mustering the courage to kiss you whenever he feels like it.

Kati will definitely tease Sian whenever he talks about his wonderful, loving manager, and Cyrille will provide him with all sorts of scientific facts about the prospect of being in love, how long it exactly lasts, and why relationships are so important in terms of social interaction.

Sian does his best to ignore them, but he always finds himself getting embarrassed. “Stay out of my personal life! I don’t need your help!” Yes, he’s also blushing while he says this.

Underneath that tsundere behavior is a sweet boy who does his best to give you a perfect relationship.

He’ll take you to his favorite places to eat, claiming that you have to try some of the foods he normally gets. In return, you’ll open his horizons to the things you enjoy eating.

Definitely goes to karaoke with you! The two of you sing to your hearts’ content, sharing a few laughs at the impossible-to-hit high notes. Sian manages to surprise you the first time you hear him sing, and when you make a comment he gets extremely flustered.

On days where the weather isn’t the best, the two of you might stay inside to play card games, making small bets every now and then. Most of these bets are about the number of kisses or hugs the other will receive, and when that’s on the line Sian plays exceptionally better.

He’s written songs before, and now that the two of you are in a relationship some of these are about you. You wouldn’t have known about this had you not found a journal detailing different lyrics and song titles.

When you confronted Sian about it, he became a mess.

Sian’s never let anyone see any of his creative work before, so this was enough to bring him close to tearing up out of pure embarrassment. He feels as though he could just die on the spot.

You understand his reaction, so you’re quick to close the journal, assuring him that you won’t pry further unless he willingly tells you more.

It takes a bit before he’s confident to actually show you and explain his thought process behind certain lyrics, but he trusts you enough and he knows you won’t laugh at him.

You’re his biggest muse when it comes to songwriting. (You’re also his biggest supporter.)

You’ll catch him humming under his breath to certain songs, and he’ll even start to mumble lyrics he’s made up on the spot. You’ll chime in with your own input, and he’ll be quick to write it down if it strikes a chord in his inspiration.

Unfortunately, his memory isn’t the best, so he often forgets things like anniversaries and special dates. He’ll always apologize with his head bowed whenever this happens, but you never seem too bothered. How can you be upset with someone as affectionate and caring as him?

In times of need, he’ll be there to assist you, as he doesn’t want you to stress yourself out. After all, it isn’t fair for his precious lover to carry overwhelming burdens all on their own.

You’ll always find yourself waking up beside the best boyfriend in the world, who will do absolutely anything for you. At the start of the relationship, he tried to do so many things to impress you. He cooked, cleaned, and made sure to always message you when you’re apart. Eventually, you had to tell him to just be himself and to stop taking advice from relationship blogs.

Please give this boy all the love in the world, and he’ll return it tenfold—albeit with a flustered stutter and pink cheeks.

As the future Lord of the Underworld, Quincy’s quick to let others know of his position as a devil. Bow before him because it’s either his way or the highway.

He has high hopes for you and even higher hopes for himself.

Quincy will be especially impressed if you’re forward and confident in the relationship, but if you’re not that’s fine. It just means he’ll have to take the lead, which is obviously the best course of action, right? His judgement is flawless!

Just know that if anyone messes with his beloved manager, he’ll have no problem putting a curse on the unfortunate soul who decided to bother you. It’s all in good fun, so don’t worry about those silly humans who are now suffering under the weight of a heavy enchantment.

Every now and then, he’ll tease you about anything and everything—no matter how insignificant it is. Maybe you were late to clock in and Nyang Lead Manager scolded you, or perhaps you accidentally forget your lunch. Either way, he’s going to poke fun at those mishaps.

Spicy food is his life. He probably participates in those challenges at restaurants just to prove that he can absolutely own the competition.

If you’re also a fan of spicy things, it’ll be a contest to see who can handle the most spice. He ends up winning most of the time, but that’s mainly just because he’s a devil who’s used to scorching heat.

Quincy doesn’t like wasting his time on anything small, so there will always be a purpose behind what he does.

Your dates are quite the colorful variety, ranging from spending the day mixing up new elixirs to sharing stories about the Underworld. One day he’d like to show you around if you’re up for it, but the scenery might take some getting used to.

He’ll ensure that you’re never bored by dragging you around to do whatever the two of you deem exciting. When you get to relax from purifying vengeful spirits, you might find yourselves in the human world disguised under the deceptive properties of Humanizer to visit amusement parks, food vendors, and even occult shops.

Despite his teasing remarks and overflowing pride, Quincy values you a lot, and when it’s just the two of you he’ll be very endearing. It tends to catch you off guard; one minute he’s laughing about messing with Sian and the next he’s moving in to steal a quick kiss.

You’ll have to deal with any reptiles or insects that happen to cross his path, as he can’t stand them. But if you can’t handle them either, then you’ll seek out Jamie. At least he can keep them safe from Kirr and Aitachi. And from your spooked boyfriend, who wants those critters out of his sight. 

Quincy will remind you to come to him if you’re ever worried over something. His advice may not be the most ground-breaking, but it’s the thought that counts. He’s willing to spend hours giving you a friendly pep-talk, and you’re bound to come out of your gloom with a fresh perspective.

Ell always puts you first, ensuring your happiness and well-being.

Honesty is key in this relationship, and that’s mainly because he can’t lie due to his constant sneezing.

And that’s okay because he has nothing to lie about anyways! He doesn’t want to hide anything from you; he’d rather you know than try to keep it a secret.

Imagine all of the cute dates! The both of you could go to bakeries and and sweet shops to try all sorts of delicious treats. Ell would be fond of anything sugary, insisting on playfully feeding you while you’re out in public. Or the two of you could visit craft stores so he can get more supplies for his needle felting.

He’s very big on PDA. Expect lots of hand-holding, random hugs, and kisses on the cheek—even around others when you least expect it. He’ll always smile at you, commenting on how charming you look when you blush at his sudden displays of affection.

Though he’ll try his best to tone it down if Nyang Lead Manager says something about it during work hours. He’ll quietly whine and protest as he tries to explain that it’s hard to resist. He just loves you so much! His complaints tend to get cut off once he starts to sneeze, though.

Along with gifting you his needle felting creations, he’ll also play the lyre for you. He’d be so excited to show you all of the beautiful music it can make. Sometimes he’ll play a few soothing melodies if you have trouble falling asleep.

Speaking of sleep, he adores cuddling. You’ll probably wake up each morning with him clinging to you, the blanket cast aside.

If you’re fond of taking photos, he’ll let you use the light from his halo to brighten the pictures. It makes for a perfect ring light, and he doesn’t mind others wanting to use it. After all, Licht and Kati like to use it for their SNS, so you should too.

If you’re ever having a bad day, Ell will be there to make it better. He’ll do all sorts of things for you, hearing you out when you vent to him about what’s bothering you and even attempting to make a few tiny miracles happen. Anything for his favorite person in the world!

There are times when he feels down as well, but it’s not for long. You’ll always be there to cheer him up. He’s fortunate that you have the patience to help him put his negative emotions into words, and you’ll even sit through all of the times he sneezes. For that, he’s very grateful.

His heart beats faster and he gets bashful when you praise him, but he’ll always fire back with plenty of genuine compliments so you won’t feel left out. There’s lots of love to go around.

At first, Verine wonders if the reason you chose to be near him is because of the desire to protect such a sickly Soul Reaper. It bothers him to no end, as he does his best to stay strong despite always having to take different medicines and vitamins.

Once he realizes that you’re not there to pester him about his health, he’s pleasantly surprised. He’s used to others giving him looks of pity, so when you offer your support he can’t help but feel warm inside.

It actually takes him quite a while to confess; the stress of it all was like attempting to find the correct medicine for a specific ailment.

Still, he manages to push his self-consciousness aside in favor of his heart’s wishes, and it succeeds! Luckily for him, since Verine believed his chances were very slim.

While Mori considers him to be a paper doll, you think the opposite. Your boyfriend may be physically weak, but he’s got a strong will and is incredibly gentle with you.

Even if he acts like the presences of others disturbs him, he’s actually quite happy to be near the Soul Reapers. He’s always interacting with the Reapers in Diluculo, but he finds that your company is by far the best.

Most of your dates consist of staying indoors, since Verine doesn’t like the overwhelming temperatures of the outside world. (Occasionally, he’ll sacrifice his comfort so that you can enjoy the outdoors every now and then.)

However, the two of you still find plenty of things to do while inside. From watching your favorite films to assisting Verine with his medicinal herb garden, a lot of these cozy dates are quite serene.

He loves it when you cook his favorite foods. Any meal prepared by your loving hands is a gift he treasures—so much so that he thoroughly believes it’ll heal his aches and pains. Sometimes he doesn’t know how to return the gesture, so you’ll have to reassure him that you don’t need anything. Just his love is enough, and that makes him smile a bit.

Verine is touch-starved since most of his living life was spent in a hospital bed and the only contact he ever received was from doctors checking his vitals. So he’s always eager to let you hug and kiss him.

He might not be into cuddling at first only because he’s afraid his constant coughing will disrupt the calm atmosphere, but once you explain that that doesn’t bother you he’s willing to give it a try. He ends up liking it more than he thought he would, which results in lazy days where the two of you just nap in each other’s arms.

He’ll always be there for you no matter what, and he checks to make sure you’re healthy. Your physical and mental health is very important to him.

If the the two of you ever get into a disagreement, he may bottle up his true feelings for the sake of pacifying you. In the end, both of you talk through it, and this allows Verine to slowly but surely open up about how he really feels.

Verine might keep a lot of his emotions to himself when around the others, but with you he doesn’t have to.

So, I tried to calculate Control...

... and its Epic Games deal, with the help of my certified smooth brain™ and probably incorrect sources. I started this last night hella tired and with a headache, I have finished it up today hella tired and with a headache, and this is what I produced: bullshit! :D But hey, at least double checked bullshit that’s open for discussion and contribution and expansion. Also, I probably won’t list the sources because a) I’m lazy and b) I didn’t have to dig thaaat deep down to find all this so if you really wanna know you could probably hit google with it as well. Anyhow here we go lol So, the initial thought which got all of this rolling was the 2020-wrap-up-post Remedy linked on their twitter, and Epic’s linked publishing announcement in it: studios Remedy, Playdead and GenDesign will release their next next-gen games with Epic. Now, we all know Remedy are working on some sort of Alan Wake-ish thing as we speak (right? right?? god I hope so), which meanssss our boy will most likely be an Epic exclusive. Which makes me kinda sad because, well. I’m deep in Steam’s ass. Hell, I waited for Control for a full year before I played it because they can pry the Steam version from my cold dead hands. So I asked myself... was it worth it for them? How much money did they throw at Remedy (and 505 Games) to have them play along? Would they have reached more people from the get-go if they had released it on Steam right away? Did the individual programmer, designer, writer, artist, person behind it profit from this at all? (Also, like, about the rights and copyright thing,,,,, you’d think they could have learned from Alan Wake and its IP belonging to Microsoft and so not really being able to do anything more with it because they don’t ‘own’ it and shit) buuut anyway that’s not the point of this post, now it’s time to do some MATH BABEY

Ok, let’s start with some things we know. Facts. Figures. Data. Turns out my initial question, how much money was involved, could be answered by doing one (1) google search: according to Wikipedia, Epic gave Remedy and 505 Games €9.49mio. The total budget for the game was €26.9mio over the course of 3 years of development. We know that as of December 2020, over 2mio copies of the game were sold, with November 2020 being the best-selling month ever since its initial release in August 2019. This is where question 1) comes into play: how many of those 2 million copies were sold in 2019 and how many in 2020? Stay tuned, I think I found out.

We know that Remedy gets to keep 45% of the revenue, which, I assumed, means that 505 keeps the remaining 55% (probably a lot more going on there but shhh). We know that Control’s sales cooked up €17.84mio in 2019 (so months September – December), €17.7mio of those in the first month alone (O.O). Side note: because it came out at the very end of August, I’ll ignore that month and declare September the first sales month.

We know that 60% of sales in 2019 were digital ones (aka Epic Store, mostly), 40% physical ones (consoles PS4 and XB1), while in 2020, only 10% of sales were physical and a whopping 90% digital; which is people on Epic who wanted to get their hands on the first DLC and – you guessed it – the Steam release of the Ultimate Edition in August 2020.

Which begs question 2): what’s bigger, 60% of 2019 sales because ‘ooh shiny new game’, or 90% of 2020 sales because ‘yay steam release’? The answer may look obvious, but you have to take into account the dropping price, which I also researched for your pleasure and enjoyment.

For this I used a German website called idealo.de, which focuses on looking for the best deals for basically anything you can buy on the internet, and it also gives you diagrams that describe at which point in time the product was at which exact price. This is what it gave me: - release price: €60 - December 2019: €41 (PS4)/€44 (XB1) - mid-2020: €30 - Ultimate Edition release: €30 - December 2020: €14 (PS4)/€18 (XB1)/€30 (Ultimate Editions) At this point I was like “lol hold on i need chocolate for this cuz i’ll be here for some time *sweating*”

To continue this mess™, I see more questions: 3) How many employees does Remedy have, which positions do they work in and what are their salaries? 4) How many employees does 505 have, which positions and salaries do they have? 5) What’s the total revenue that Control has generated so far?

And also some more stuff like, are my numbers accurate, am I even grasping these concepts correctly, are there even more people involved or am I just trying to explain complete crap (yes) but let’s just ignore all of that shall we. At that point I went “oh shit what have i gotten myself into, this screen does not get my point across, i need pen and paper” and you know shit is gonna go DOWN when I do math on paper.

My paper math birthed the following calculation:

Following this up, we can calculate the end-of-2019 sales, if we set the price for September and October to €60, for November and December to approx. €45:

Now, you might notice that one of those numbers is big and the other is HUGE. Why might that be? Well...

- Covid19: everyone stayed at home and needed video games to play - More sale months of the year, naturally - dropping price: why get it for €60 when you can get it for 20 - Ultimate Edition: why buy it in June when you get more content in August aaaand... - it comes out on Steam.

With this in mind, let’s see what questions we can answer: 1) 661,110 copies in 2019; 1,338,889 copies in 2020 2) 60% digital sales in 2019 means 396,666 Epic copies; 90% digital sales in 2020 means 1,205,000 copies – most of it from Steam? Some of it? A good chunk? The bigger chunk? There’s no way of really knowing for sure but... you could read this into it. I definitely am. 3) Google told me Remedy had a little over 250 employees at the end of 2019... 4) ... and 505 has less than 100. I found no good sources for this, I think linkedin said 37, someone else said 50. I’ll just use the 50 figure, idk. No idea man. and for 5) I’ll contradict my point that the Steam release is what knocked the sales out of the park and assume that the number of sold copies stayed the same across all 12 months of 2020, which gives us this:

After Zelena steals Regina’s heart, Regina casts a spell so that she can speak across the realms to her dead mother, Cora, to discover the truth about why she abandoned Zelena, and Belle stumbles across what Zelena’s ultimate end game is. Meanwhile, in the Fairy Tale Land that was, young Cora is duped by a man claiming to be a prince and finds herself alone and pregnant. But a chance meeting with a real prince could lead Cora to the royal life she’s always craved, but she must keep her pregnancy a secret or risk losing everything.

Main Thoughts - Characters/Stories/Themes and Their Effectiveness

Past

The Cora insight in this episode is so great. Like we really see how a woman with ambitions of royalty, but still a level head becomes someone so driven like the Cora who abused Regina so she’d become royalty. ”Revenge is a long-term plan.” I like how even in an episode that is more-or-less leaning towards sympathizing with Cora, there are nuggets of her darker side wedged in there. It really helps balance the story and remind the audience that yeah, this is Cora. There was always that darkness to her, even while she still had her heart.

Everything in this flashback also completely recontextualizes what happened with her and Regina and Daniel’s relationship. Like, of course a love with a commoner would leave Cora just a bit apprehensive. That’s not to excuse her for SHIT, but I do this it’s important to point out nonetheless.

Present

It’s weird that we don’t really reach the meat of this story until the halfway mark. Everything beforehand is more setup than anything and it’s unlike most every other episode in that regard. The closest comparison that I can think of is “Coming Home” which spent its last fifteen minutes as an epilogue.

I compared the Regina/Zelena/Cora conflict to the Snow/Regina/Cora conflict in the past, and I guess now’s as good of a time as any to unpack that. Just like how Snow did something that hurt Regina without meaning to at all, so did Regina to Zelena. Both Snow and Regina in their respective situations were innocents and so were Regina and Zelena victims of Cora. So, is there a point to pointing this out rather than to just say that it exists? Well, I think the latter instance shows the only good way that a complicated issue like this can be resolved: communication and understanding. Snow and Regina grasp this about each other and finally, this is where the bulk of their issues are put to bed. While Snow’s divulgence of her secret comes out, it’s going forward played for laughs in the instance of a corrupted state or as a “what if.”

But ANYWAY, that aside, the Snow/Regina dynamics sits at the heart of the present segment’s story. It’s hinted at early on and blossoms from the end of the failed seance onward. Snow’s apologies to Regina throughout the episode allows for these two women to finally confront the complicated nature of their run-ins with Cora. Cora was a bad person who in the end, got what she deserved, but the mess she left behind wasn’t deserved by those with whom she left it.

All Encompassing

THAT ALL HAVING BEEN SAID, ”She didn’t want to give up Zelena. She was forced to by my mother.” Everything Snow recounts about her possession is utter BULLSHIT and makes me think she has no comprehension skills! To put it bluntly, that aspect of the ending fucking sucks! This would be one thing if this were a few episodes ago, but she’s contradicting things that have and will be in mere minutes literally clarified. Cora DID willingly give up Zelena and all Eva had to do with it was making sure Leopold wasn’t swept up by it. THAT is why “My best chance” is the swerve of a line that it is, because it’s a mother giving up her child to die in the woods with absolutely no remorse! Because of all that, the moment where Snow “exposits” about the present ends up as the weirdest story hole that paints everyone involved in such an unnecessarily weird light. This is either the result of the writers not communicating with each other about the framing or the framing being flat-out wrong. Like, they’re trying to make this a more complicated issue, but are going in the reverse order of things! How did they fuck this moment up so badly?! If they wanted to do that, Eva should’ve been shown in the episode to be a lot more malicious than she was instead of exposing a liar. The actions should’ve been worse, but I’m more on Eva’s side than Cora’s. OR FUCK! LEOPOLD has a giant ass hatedom and he was the one who proposed to someone he was roughly four times older than! Make HIM the baddie! Have him outright reject her for the pregnancy and kick her out, no lie attached. That way, you get to keep the message the same, but give that assholery to someone who deserves it. Just...this element that makes up the moral center of the story is utter GARBAGE here, and it’s so sad given how well set up everything else was. Eva’s move was only douchey if you remove the fact that Cora was keeping such a big secret!

Insights - Stream of Consciousness

-The way Emma says “Boom!” is sooooo cute! She’s so excited and I want that as my fucking text tone! <3

-...I love how Belle for once gets to interrupt someone at Granny’s. This is ending up as the best Belle episode ever and she’s not even the main!

-”You should have a woman dress you more often.” I can’t say that I disagree.

-”Why a heart? Why courage? Why a brain?” Do you think Zelena knows that there’s not only a book series, but a classic movie based around these things?!

-”My son is not lost. He’s dead.” Don’t remind me!

-Haunted house! Why are there so many Halloween episodes that have fuck all to do with Halloween?!

-I love how the possession blends into the next flashback scene! That was COOL storytelling!

-...I know Rumple’s playing her, but damnit, the dude’s dashing as fuck. If I were Zelena, I’d have fallen for him too.

-Damn! Zelena’s touch starved! Have a listen to those gasps!

-”And he said I have a tough placenta, which somehow came out creepy.” Yup, that’s Whale for you.

Arcs - How Are These Storylines Progressing?

The Wicked Witch - So we now have Zelena’s plan and I while I stand by what I said in my “It’s Not Easy Being Green” review in saying that it’s kind of pointless going back in time when Cora only wants a child that will grow up to be royalty, the process of how she time travels is nonetheless a good one and Zelena’s the kind of character who is both cocky and talented enough to make it happen.

Regina’s Redemption - We get so much of Regina’s Redemption in this episode and once again, it’s all just spectacular! “If she wants to kill you, she’s gonna have to go through me.” Like, Regina’s not only defending someone who she used to HATE, BUT is freely standing up to her mother. That’s so impressive!

Killian’s Redemption - I think it’s a big show of how much Killian has grown as a character that while not romantically pursuing Emma, he’s still doing everything he can to help the cause while he comes up with another plan. He’s definitely in a complicated spot here and not telling Emma is definitely a mistake, but for his current situation, he’s doing what he can to ensure everyone’s safety.

Rumple’s Redemption - Rumple made a really impressive stride here. Just as much as Rumple mourns for Bae’s loss, he wants to honor the sacrifice he made and thus refuses to resurrect him at the cost of invalidating that sacrifice. Look, Rumple has a tendency to put his needs above others, but with Bae, he will never do that again.

Favorite Dynamic

Belle and Regina. Let’s talk about that apology scene and how good it is. I like how at the start of it, Regina does what she did with the Lost Boys and points how how them working together could benefit them both, but upon seeing that that won’t work (Or that it will, but Belle deserves better), she gives a real apology. And I like how Belle, while working with her, doesn’t necessarily accept it. It’s also a good moment in that it gives Belle a voice as she gets to react to things and get angry, and as Belle isn’t often granted that by the writing staff, I think it’s something that makes those moments stick out more.

Jane Espenson and Daniel Thomsen finish out their work for the season here, and they were doing such a good job...but then they fucked it up! Like, the mistake was easy to fix. Either make Eva do something FAR more villainous than convince Leo to test Cora or axe the “my mom was evil too” angle. But by not going all in on one or the other, you lose the center of your story, and that’s exactly what happened here.

8/10. Not gonna lie. That 8 comes solely from the ending resolution on Eva and Cora. That lack of understanding of what your own narrative was saying is so shocking and appalling to me that I had to take off more than just one point for it. The rest of the story -- both of them -- are so good. How did they not stick the landing? I feel like they were trying so hard to make Cora more complicated that they neglected Eva in the process.

Flip My Ship - The Home of All Things “Shippy Goodness”

Captain Swan - This is such a weird moment to love as a CS fan, but I still do. Emma’s finally opening up herself more to Killian and Killian can’t do the same, but Emma’s still trying and she’s trying fairly hard! Also, I want to know how that conversation would’ve gone had Belle not stepped in! Would Emma have gotten the truth out of Killian? Would there have been cuddles? It’s anyone’s guess!

Golden Heart - Just gonna point out that when Cora finally showed up, it was in by a spinning wheel of all things!

Outlaw Queen - I like the present buildup to Robin and Regina getting together. Regina’s softness and understanding of them being soulmates on top of their chemistry really helped the expedition of their romance work. Robin’s subdued presence alongside Regina and Snow’s conversation about her resilient heart really helped their kiss come together.

Observations: Contradictions in “Familiar”

I’m not dead!  Life was just kicking my butt hard and kept me from having much in the way of spare time, and it sent me into burnout, anxiety, and depression.  I tried to push through and still work on blog stuff, but it seemed to have a pretty bad impact on the quality of my work.

I’ve had some time to recover now - just in time, too, because I’d hate not to get a theory/observation post out before Diamond Days releases.

(Yes, I know I’m cutting it close.  I’m just trying to get it at all right now.)

Okay, did anyone else notice that Familiar felt a bit off?

(Besides Steven, that is.)

To the point: Part of my main theory has long been that White has been using mind-control powers on everyone, including Blue and Yellow.  Right now, that includes the idea of making everyone think that Rose and Pink are the same person.

I expected to see at least one contradiction in this ep - probably while Steven talked to Blue or something - but really, this ep is littered with them.  Even if you weren’t actively looking for contradictions, I bet a lot of people still noticed something that was strange.

First, the most obvious one:

Yellow says that the sauna/extraction chamber is new, i.e. Pink and Pearl wouldn’t have known about it because it was made while they were away.  And yet...

Pearl somehow knows about it, and even knows how to help Steven prepare for it.

Perhaps the next most noticeable oddity: It’s pretty obvious that Pink is Blue’s favorite, to the point that she would sneak away to think about her, neglecting her duties.

Instead, Blue seems to now be neglecting “Pink” for the sake of her duties - a complete reversal.  In fact, she doesn’t even seem to bother drying off when she leaves the pool, like she’s in a hurry to get out of there.

In fact, you’d expect Blue to be the first Diamond to want to be with Steven, but instead, Yellow beats her to it.

My theory on that particular detail: You know how in LFHTH, Yellow said that Steven should let her do the talking?  And how she was more willing to approach White than Blue was?

I think there’s a good change that Yellow did talk to White shortly after Steven.  And as such, White affected her, before Blue, and Yellow was the first available.

Getting to more subtle notes, you remember this part?

This is the first one that really stood out to me.  Pearl never says “Thank the Stars,” or anything like it.  Instead, she seems to favor Earth expressions when exclaiming things.

I was even under the impression that she had abandoned Gem theology.  And yet, here she is, thanking the s/Stars.

(No, I’m not counting when Sardonyx greeted Steven.  Along with it being hard to tell how exactly personalities affect a Fusion, there haven’t been any non-fused references to the stars like that - from Pearl, Garnet, Ruby or Sapphire - so it’s not a good data point.)

There’s more moments where the Pearls seem to be out of character.  You probably remember this part:

I don’t think that Yellow Pearl would normally have a problem with something like a name.  She’s normally shown a lot of personality - i.e. not limited to a few tasks.

And she’s emoted at Steven’s nonsense before.

But now, not only does she seem to not realize that Steven’s being silly, but he somehow risks breaking her with it?

I’m pretty sure that she’d be able to handle something like a name, especially since Steven didn’t even make it complicated  Heck, part of her job seems to be working with names.

Blue Pearl also has moments.  When Steven heads to see Blue, I noticed this:

This is the first time we’ve seen Blue Pearl with her hands behind her back.  Normally, she keeps them clasped in front.  Having the hands behind the back is more of a Yellow Pearl thing.

I also wonder about her “Welcome back.”  I mean, come on, she was there when Pearl helped Rose make an attack at the Cloud Arena.

I know we don’t know her very well, but I still wonder why she’d welcome Pearl after that.

Also: Have you really listened to her when she says it?  It’s kind of creepy. o.o;

Speaking of which, if I’m not mistaken, Yellow sounds a bit flatter than usual when she talks.  Blue might be a bit off, too.  To me, they both give off a sort of “hypnotized” vibe, as do the Pearls (all three of them).

Regardless of their tone, they both seem too calm for everything that just happened, at least IMO.  Really, they go from “worried about dealing with White” to, as Steven puts it, “spa day,” in what seems like a matter of minutes.

I’m thinking that White basically told them not to worry.  In fact, it might be why Yellow laughs at the idea of failing to get White’s attention, instead of getting angry.

Pearl herself is also oddly calm, or even weirdly happy about a lot of... less fortunate things.

I know she likes Pink/Steven, but liking Pink and Steven is exactly why I’d think she’d be more upset about Yellow conquering planets, slaughtering countless people, and having Gems sucking the life out of the ground after the fact.  Not to mention the idea of Pink helping celebrate such things.

Speaking of, that’s another thing that Pearl probably shouldn’t know about: If the murals are any indication, Yellow probably only had nine colonies when the Earth colony was just started, i.e. the last time Pearl would’ve been in touch with Homeworld.

And now she has hundreds.  And the way Pearl talks, it sounds like she somehow knows about them all.

“Yellow Diamond oversees all aspects of Gem production on every single one of her colonies.”

On the other hand, Pearl talks about Yellow often being off with her army - singular - whereas Peridot said in Hit the Diamond that Yellow has control over “all the armies of Homeworld” - plural, and probably very many.  So it’s like Pearl knows about the newer colonies, but not the new armies.

And unless the Diamonds are normally friends with the Gems in their courts, it also feels like a stretch for thinking of Pink’s court to remind her to get Steven’s friends.

If you ask me, it seems like Pearl’s mind is so filled with active contradictions that she’s the Pearl most likely to break.

Maybe not too unlike a certain other Pearl that I bet White worked her magic on.

Anyway, since I mentioned odd grammatical usage, Blue has a couple moments:

Grammar is one of my strongpoints, and in this context, “you and I” is nonstandard, or even considered incorrect (I checked - it often comes with hypercorrection).  But more strange is how she turns down Steven’s suggestion to play a game.

I’d think that, now that Steven’s here, and White is obviously glad for it, the Blue would think that idea of playing the game again would be wonderful, and that it might be a good way for the Diamonds to get together again.  Instead, she talk about how no one wanted to come when Pink wasn’t there.

Okay, so either of those on its own seems like a stretch, but two odd word choices seem like a pattern to me - like a little hint that something is wrong.

And if you think about it, Blue doesn’t really answer either of Steven’s requests.  Along with turning to the past and not the present, she says nothing about talking to White.

Pearl also seems to have some odd responses to what Steven says, not always answering the real question.  (You could probably count Yellow, too.)  And there are a lot of oddly convenient interruptions.

Also, both Blue and Yellow seem to have a lot of focus on wanting to be with White, especially if they’re afraid of her.  It almost seems like White might want them to, well, want to be with her.

I don’t think I’ve mentioned, but I’ve long theorized that White actually fears loneliness, but is very selective about who she lets in.  This could be evidence of that.

I do suspect that the singing underwater game is actually canon.  It seems a bit too specific when White seems to be missing a lot of details.  It also suggests both intelligence and a degree of creativity on Pink’s part: things that would help if she wanted to lead a rebellion in secret.  I also think there’s a chance that the Pebbles can’t be affected by White’s powers.

Speaking of which: Why would the Pebbles accept “Pink,” but run from her Pearl?  Unless maybe they knew that she’s not actually the Pearl that belongs to Pink. ;3

Anyway, I know I’ve been all over the place with this post (esp. toward the end here), but there were a couple more things that I wanted to mention: You know the new “Love Like You” recording in the credits?  The one that doesn’t quite sound like it’s being sung by Rose?  I noticed that it was heading towards the line “What makes you think I’m so special?” and in Familiar, it got to that part.  Not only that, but it really emphasizes the word “special,” making it sound a bit strange.

I was thinking that it would make sense if they played that line right around the time of a “Rose ISN’T Pink” reveal, and considering that Diamond Days has its own trailer - one that’s on the dramatic side even - it seems like that ep is probably going to be important.

Maybe Steven’s going to find out that something is very wrong, and maybe even question whether Rose was Pink after all.

If so, then it would be sooner than I expected. 83

Connie also seems to be giving the CGs a somewhat-strange look, possibly on the concerned side.

Have they all been affected?  Has Connie noticed that something’s off?

I’m curious to find out.  I suppose that will be soon. =3

Good/Redeemed Male Yandere Examples

So I decided to organize a little and make this post after a long conversation I had with someone on tumblr recently.  In the conversation, I stated both my general definitions of a “good yandere” and a “redeemed yandere,” as well as gave a brief list of examples I’ve seen.

I figure not everyone’s going to want to hunt back through the original post specifically for the list every time, so here’s a shortcut for you.  I’m basically copy pasting what I said before (with maybe some rewording on some parts so they make sense).  It’s a small list and those that have been around the block looking for male yanderes will probably recognize these titles.

You’ll notice not a lot of otome game characters make the list here because a) that’s not what the original asker was interested in and b) to be honest a lot of yanderes in otome games come from the “bad endings.”  That’s falling more in the villain category then.

So HOPEFULLY, with the good/redeemed male yanderes, I have remained consistent at the very least with what they are.  Please feel free to let me know if the definitions below don’t appear to have been very evident in my posts, or if this contradicts past posts too much:

-        Good Yandere: Still exhibits behavior and actions of a yandere that are deemed either inappropriate or bad when displaying one’s affection for the love interest, BUT still manages to keep certain behavior in “check” for the sake of their love interest (and possibly others), and shows genuine love as opposed to just obsession towards their S/O

-        Redeemed Yandere:  A yandere who somehow changed to understand that they need to respect/understand the point of view and feelings of those around them (particularly their love interest).  Usually start off over-the-top, crazy, or villainous, but realize they’ve gone too far and end up changing for the better.  Redeemed yandere can then either end up as “good yanderes” or actually fall out of the yandere category if they decide to either love in a more natural manner, or even forfeit their love interest to someone else.

Male Yandere

1)      Nozomu from Hadashi de bara wo fume (Stepping on Roses) – Redeemed Yandere

While not a fan of the artwork for the story, it’s one of the best examples of a prominent male yandere in a story.  Used him as an example for my “good endings” post.  Without spoiling exactly what happens, I will make it clear that he just becomes redeemed, not a good yandere.

2)      Kairak from Abide in the Wind – Redeemed Yandere?

I can’t find the raws to read, and it’s still being translated.  I am 99% sure this has a happy ending though.  I actually really recommend this story in general.  Seeing as Kairak is both literally and figuratively a “different animal,” he’s a good example of making a character that becomes a very clear yandere, but that it makes sense what happened and why he can be forgiven.  It’s all about how the character is set up.  Like I said, I haven’t seen all the raws though, and I don’t want to spoil too much here.

3)      Toma from Amnesia- Redeemed?/Good?

First off, I don’t know if you want to include this guy because while there’s an anime, it’s technically based off an otome game.  So it’s really only just…episode 9 and 10 I’d say you can take a peek at for fun. Since it’s based off an otome game and only a 12 episode anime series, it’s kind of shallow though with the change. That’s why I’d say it’s kind of questionable if you agree with what Toma does and why and if he properly learned his lesson.  So I can’t outright declare him as a “good yandere” or a “redeemed yandere.”  That’s probably more of a personal opinion thing. …It doesn’t help that I find him kind of cute though *sweats*

4)      Jung Yu from Cheese in the Trap- Good?

It’s a Korean webcomic that I really enjoy.  This one would require quite a bit of investment from the reader though to determine what they think of Jung.  I’m going to be blunt…there are many signs in the series that he’s actually a sociopath (or close to one).  No, this isn’t a horror or thriller webcomic.  This would be what I’d say is the best example of a sociopath who is NOT a psychopath.  Sociopaths generally don’t care about others, just themselves.  It’s REALLY hard to explain, and Jung still has some genuine caring moments.  Like I said, this would be a project to get into if you want to properly determine if Jung is a “good yandere,” if you can even call him a yandere at all.  I haven’t read the end yet, so I don’t know if he “redeems” either.  Just know that in this story, Jung does/thinks some things that are “not right.” But he’s in love with Seol I believe. The yandere moments are sadly spread out too, but you’d notice them.

5)      Onyu No from Metronome- Good

At least I think he is. Story is still getting translated. Guy’s definitely a yandere, and I recommend this because other characters than just him appear to have an obsession with the main character.  So far based on the plot…I think you can call him good?  Will kind of have to see what happens.  He’s also the type that would never want to harm his S/O (at least I think so), so that’s a plus.

6)      Darin Kim from Cherry Boy, that Girl- Redeemed

You know what…I actually DON’T consider him a yandere XD  Which is weird, because he has many moments displaying behavior that is EXACTLY like a yandere.  I can only attribute this to how…less threatening I feel he his?  Don’t get me wrong though, he’s pretty darn manipulative. I just wanted to put this on here because I recommend it a lot.  Warning, you will hate ALL the characters though for the first few chapters.  You gotta ride it out a bit to get past the point “I don’t sympathize with anyone here, what the heck?”  You get to the GOOD development later, trust me.  Because Darin portrays at least yandere behavior, I’d say check it out to judge for yourself.  It’s completely translated and finished.  If you call him a yandere, I’d say he’s redeemed at the end.  Up to the reader if they’d ever call him “good.”

7)      Jarte from 100% Perfect Girl- Redeemed/Good?

Actually a manhwa, not a manga.  Like a modern day Cinderella tale.  Jarte’s yandere side starts to come out more as the story progresses and the drama occurs (serious drama at least).  I’d definitely call him redeemed by the end.  DURING the story you can debate if you’d call him a “good yandere.”  I don’t it personally.  He REALLY loves Jay, but yeah the stuff he ends up doing would not be okay in real life :P  Most of the yandere stuff is the last 2 volumes I believe (but there’s minor hints before then).  This is one of those one’s that’s either going to draw people in due to the way that Jarte and Jay talk with each other (or avoid talking with each other) on how their relationship is/was at any current point in time…or it’ll drive you nuts and make you pull your hair out honestly because they seem crazy.  This is actually one of my favorites where I feel I like how it came to the ending it did, but in real life I would have never forgiven Jarte :P

8)      …Some manga I found recently that I CAN’T REMEMBER THE NAME OF!!!- Good

Look the premise is that the male yandere kidnaps a young girl he’s obsessed with, but she’s totally cool with that.  The reason is because she’s glad to be away from her abusive parents.  I haven’t read too much into it yet, but the yandere himself is thinking “she probably needs to put her guard up around me more than she realizes, because I CLEARLY have something wrong with me” (cue room covered with photos of the S/O).  I’ll have to see if I find it again sometime.  This would be a good reference though for a good yandere who has very clear yandere behavior, but due to other circumstances in the story, is not as much of the bad guy as one would think.

…wow where the heck are my yaoi stories?  I know I’ve read a bunch of them, but most were probably short with a Japanese title so I can’t remember right now >_<  That or they stuck with the villain trend I liked so no point in putting them here anyway.  There’s two off the top of my head right now still in the works that are WAY too extreme for me to consider either of the villains “good yanderes” at any point.

Bonus: Female Yandere

1)      Yuno Gasai from Mirai Nikki/Future Diary – Redeemed/Good

People can still debate on her I guess, but I’d say she’s good because of the circumstances of the game they’re thrown into, and a lot of people believe at the end it develops into a genuine loving relationship.

2)      For the love of god, WHY CAN’T I REMEMBER SOME OF THE “GOOD” YANDERE STORIES?! -Good

Look there’s this comedy one I found awhile back.  Not a lot of chapters, but it’s a female yandere whose boyfriend is fully aware she’s a yandere.  It’s a great use of dark comedy, and the boyfriend is actually pretty good at keep her on a leash (and he does love her).  I wish I could remember the name though.  If you find it, it’s not long right now and at least it’s a good reference for comedic yanderes in a relationship with their S/O :P

Aaaaand sorry that’s all I can think of at the moment XD.  I mostly find female yanderes by accident :P  I’m usually just hunting for the males.  Some people can debate if a certain magical girl from Madoka Magica is “good,” but I’ll leave that up to them :P  I’ve pretty sure there’s a bunch of female yanderes not from otome games that are redeemed or “good,” I’m just drawing a blank at the moment.

So what you might have noticed from this list is it may be more common to find a redeemed yandere rather than a “good yandere.”  You more often will see the yandere give up after a long fight or learn to love like a normal person would, rather than maintain their yandere qualities by the end. They can be “good yanderes” during the story if the character is fleshed out enough and it complements the plot, but it’s super rare for them to still be a “good yandere” by the end of the story.

Iroha, like most of the equally elegant men who worked in Yoshiwara, hardly ever felt the need to run. It was not dignified, and more so than that, there was no need for it. Usually...

He also usually wouldn't be seen at the rival shop to his Kikuya, Ohgiya, unless there was some kind of rare and important festival that they ought to attend together.

This morning, however, something most extraordinary and almost unheard of had occurred...

A woman came into his shop that morning. A woman who bore a thousand details all over her body that revealed her to be from the noblest and most wealthy of families, including a kimono that was a royal rainbow of red and purple, laced with gold details and an ornate golden hairpin. That itself would have been hardly anything to blink at, except then...

"Yes, sir. You heard right. I'm requesting to buy the company of every single geisha possibly available at both Kikuya AND Ohgiya. You see, I am part of an entourage that is accompanying an extremely important and distinguished young woman, whom we wish to host here and see if any of your gentlemen suit her liking... I myself am only a messenger. The actual members of the party I represent are of the absolute highest of social standings. I realize it's asking quite a lot, but I assure you it would be very much worth your trouble. If it's something that may interest you, can I please trouble you to ask the manager of Ohgiya to comply as well?"

Of course Iroha still didn't run until well out of eyesight of the supremely classy woman, but he wasn't about to keep her waiting either, so as soon as he was around a corner, he started running at full speed.

Not caring how the manager at Ohgiya looked at him for the big gulps of air he was still taking as he arrived, Iroha gave him a secret signal between managers that let him know -why-. Code Royalty.

Quickly taking leave and finding a private place to speak, Iroha explained everything to the manager. Just as he was finishing up, Ohgiya's Manager started to fret a bit, "Dear oh dear, what a massive undertaking. And what strange circumstances! All of them are rich, but none are from well known families on the island or the nearby mainland. Foreign tourists from abroad then, I suppose...?"

Just as he was supposing, the messenger in the royal red and purple kimono suddenly appeared at the door's frame. But she was not alone. This time, she had several female attendants in tow, all of them dressed every bit as regally as her, who were each carrying a small chest, which they opened to reveal was full of pure gold ingots.

The messenger spoke for the otherwise eerily quiet group, "Sorry to interrupt. We'd like to be more patient, but our distinguished guest only has a few days left to visit before they must be moving on... This is merely a down payment to prepare for the banquet, we'd of course send the rest, which would be over a hundred times this amount, to both Kikuya and Ohgiya tomorrow - But should this suffice to prepare for a grand gala in a matter of, hmm, let's say four days? On the fourth day our esteemed guest will arrive for the banquet. Of course we realize that you gentlemen only give love after a certain time has passed, but that's not what we're seeking. We would simply enjoy your company in celebrating our grand friend and cherished guest. The party should start earlier than usual, and we'd like to start at Ohgiya for a formal dinner and getting to know each other, before heading over to Kikuya for slightly rowdier festivities later in the night. However, we would like the top geisha from Kikuya to be present for the first half of the party at Ohgiya, and for the top geisha at Ohgiya to follow us to Kikuya and continue the party with us there."

It certainly was a lot to ask for. But both managers were well aware that there wasn't much of a choice. True, they had to right to turn down anyone's money, but a sum that great was a lot harder to value less than even your pride and any amount of inconvenience. Plus, even if they were asking for quite a lot in a short amount of time, it wasn't common policy to displease a guest in any way if they hadn't acted especially uncouth, but especially one that was obviously so prestigious, wherever it was they came from...

"...Well, certainly!" Ohgiya's manager finally decided, and he and Iroha both bowed. "We shall start preparing right away! Your esteemed guest will surely not be disappointed! We will make it a night no one will ever forget!"

The messenger smiled. "We very much hope so." And said no more after that. As soon as he had confirmed her wishes, she nodded in understanding, and after leaving the gold with the men, her attendants followed her out.

Great pains were taken to prepare both Ohgiya and Kikuya estates to the absolute height of of their decadent aesthetic potential. An obscene amount of the finest sakes available was bought for the occasion, and all kinds of lavish foods. Games had been prepared, an entire orchestra of instruments laid in wait to be played, and of course, an insane amount of new kimonos and various decorations, from jewelry to hairpins, had been bought. Close to a thousand new robes and pieces in every color of the rainbow, and all kinds of attractive, intricate shapes.

The managers and staff were all very pleased and impressed with themselves at first. And they tried to maintain that confidence when their mysterious guests arrived on the afternoon of the fourth day, but when they saw the procession that they came with... It knocked all their silly little courtesan parades right out of the water. This was a procession held for true nobility...

There were several groups, each led by a woman possessing such phantasmagorical elegance and flawless beauty, as to leave one wondering if she could really be a true flesh and blood woman at all.

The first of these stunning creatures was wearing a gown of pure gold, a kimono shimmering from head to toe in gold, and sun-flower patterns designed into the fabric. Her hair too was mostly gold, but with a touch of red, leaving it looking like a rose gold color. She had it pinned with a red comb, and she had red eye make up and lipstick to accentuate the gold. While the men looked on in awe at her, she proclaimed, "I am called... Amara."

Her beautiful escorts and attendants led her onward, while another otherworldly beauty came forward after her. This one was robed in a silk kimono the color of the clearest blue sky, with golden suns etched into the fabric. A large and very ornate blue hydrangea hair pin made of gold and aquamarine crowned her hair like a tiara, and she carried a wide and mirthful smile. "I am called Suzume."

The third of them stepped forward after her, wearing a black and white kimono, with blue full moon patterns here and there. She wore no hair ornaments, but only because her hair was so long and fine, so perfect, that it didn't need any ornamentation. Her skin was as white as ivory, and her hair and eyes were pure pitch black ebony. She somehow seemed just slightly less ornate than the other women, more down to earth, and yet at the same time, she might as well be as far away as the moon. She smiled to them all, seeming a little more human than the other two ladies so far, even though she clearly belonged to their world... "Well, as it happens, I was to be called Kagura, but since it seems that one of the gentleman here tonight is named that, could I humbly request that you all humor me and call me 'Kaguya' while I am here tonight, to avoid confusion?"

From where they were watching, Kagerou quickly whispered to Kagura, "Kaguya, like the mythical moon princess? I understand it's to avoid confusion, but that's quite grand..."

Kagura only shushed and contradicted him, "I think it seems appropriate in this case..."

Iroha nodded to her and answered for them all. "Then while you are here, Princess Kaguya it is~"

The fourth of the grand ladies to come forth was wearing a mostly white kimono, with beautiful accents of red and wearing red jewelry, a beaded necklace, red lipstick and eye shadow, and a ruby red hairpin with a large white pearl resting in her hair, which almost rivaled Kaguya's in length and luster, and was the same raven black. She did a small bow as she approached and added, "I am called... Inami. And I now have the great pleasure of introducing you all to our most special guest, the guest in who's honor my companions and I are throwing this celebration tonight. Everyone, please extend your warm feelings towards our good friend, the highly revered - Ao Kimi!"

All of the ladies and their attendants began to applaud the last girl, who couldn't yet even be seen, because she was sitting in a grand and very tall palanquin, at the very top of it. It was held by twenty women and was adorned with flowers, and the seat at the top was shielded by a dark screen. When her name was finally announced, the girl peeked her face out just briefly. But when she saw the crowd, she made a squeak and ducked right back in.

That's when the men of Yoshiwara began to applaud too. Takao was especially loud, a fire lit under him at the sight of that cute face, however brief. "Aah, Kimi-sama! Don't be shy, please do come out!"

Takigawa quickly joined in, "Yes Kimi-sama, do come out~ It is your party, after all!"

So finally she let herself be coaxed, and the girl known as Ao Kimi shyly emerged, carefully stepping down the steps to the bottom, where she was helped off the palanquin by a few female attendants. The crowd at first hushed itself in amazement of her beauty, before heartily applauding her. She was... Actually surprisingly tall for a girl, as tall as some of the smaller sized men, which made her shyness even more adorable, in some strange way. Her hair was a light shade of brown, and her eyes were a very lovely and alluring shade of blue, with just a hint of green. Likewise, her kimono was also a very similar shade of teal, mostly blue with green mixed in it. It fit her surname perfectly. There was a pattern like waves and sea foam going around the dress in silver thread, and a blue-green jade in the shape of a teardrop adorned the hairpin in her hair.

"My, my..." Gakuto calmly hummed. "We've seen many beautiful women in lots of impressive finery before... But you ladies are really something else, aren't you?"

"...Thank you. We like to think so." Inami answered him rather curtly and with a wry kind of smile, a smile that suggested it knew secrets untold, before bypassing him and going to stand by his little brother Ageha, and Asagiri.

In fact each of the grand ladies quickly found a few favorites, except Kimi. Inami stood close by Asagiri and Ageha. Kaguya went to stand by Kagura and Kagerou. Suzume stood close to Inami and her party, and took the company of Takigawa, Gakuto and Utsusemi. Amara took a shining to Tokiwa, and although she responded kindly to Takao too, it was kind of driving him crazy how much the golden goddess clearly preferred the courtesan he considered to be underneath him...

Kimi, however, simply followed Kaguya around shyly, much in a similar way to how Kagerou followed Kagura.

The men were complimenting the ladies on their clothes and accessories, which the ladies appreciated at first, but when the food arrived, it was as if day had become night. Most women who came to these places might take a nibble here and there, but they were usually too enamored with the men and too worried about how they would look eating. Not this group. They took to the offered meal like hummingbirds to nectar, excitedly going from one dish to another.

"So good~!" Inami proclaimed after trying a bite of inarizushi. She quickly had another.

"Mmm, how long has it been since we had a meal quite like this?" Amara asked idly, treating herself to a stick of mitarashi dango.

"Feels like at least a few hundred years, right?" Kaguya suggested with a smile, biting into a bean-paste filled bun.

The only one among them who seemed to have a regular girl's appetite was Kimi, but even she finally took to the dishes with gusto after Suzume suggested to her, "Go on, Kimi - Eat up! You never know when you'll have the chance to again, after all~" With this encouragement, Kimi nodded and began sampling small amounts of each dish, and taking a few extra bites of what she liked best.

Ageha blinked as he pondered their words. "Oh... Because it takes so long to do your hair and make-up? That must be why you all are so hungry, right? You must have spent all day making yourselves look perfect for the banquet!"

Afraid this might be seen as rude, Asagiri quickly covered for the boy in training. "Well, the effort clearly paid off!"

But finally, after all the ladies had eaten their fill, they returned to being more talkative with the gentlemen. Amara began to explain to them all, "Well then, I suppose we should start by saying that the banquet is held in Ao Kimi's honor. We have been visiting with this special guest for a while, and after tonight she will be leaving the island, so we wanted to send her off accompanied with who we considered to be the single most beautiful man on the island! Each of us will suggest a suitor to Kimi at the end of the night, and Kimi will pick from them who she wants to see her off."

"So for now." Suzume took over for her. "Let's get to know Ao Kimi!"

Kimi now sat shyly surrounded by the eager men, who were all taking great fun in this 'game' that the ladies had set up for their mutual entertainment. Whoever saw Kimi off at the end of the night would obviously be considered by this distinguished group of women to be the most beautiful man at either of their shops. It had the potential to either skyrocket a lower courtesan to the top, or cement a top courtesan there for years...

So of course Takao, Tokigawa and Tokiwa all fought for the honor of getting her attention first. Tokiwa opened his mouth, but Takao quickly covered it. But then while he was distracted with Tokiwa, Tokigawa beat him to it anyways, and asked Kimi first, "Well, well then~ Kimi, tell us - Are you from some distinguished family? To be honored so by such distinguished women, who must all be from very good families indeed?"

Kaguya answered aloud for them while the other women merely nodded mutely, "Indeed, we are..."

But Kimi looked down at her lap. "Not... Not I, though..." She finally admitted with some shame.

The men blinked at her admission. Kagura was the first to speak up. "Well, of course Kimi, it matters not what your family is like. We're simply surprised since you seemed to be of the same status as these other women-"

Kimi gasped, and quickly denied that, "Oh no, NO, not at ALL...!"

But Suzume took over for the poor girl then, "Well, the truth actually is, gentleman... Ao Kimi is kind of a nobody. She doesn't come from a wealthy or distinguished family, in fact she comes from a rather poor family. But they are only poor because they have a lot of medical costs, taking care of a sick relative, They are very good people. In fact, Kimi even came out on a rainy day to help us get our carriage out from where it had been stuck in the mud. She got all muddy helping us out. So of course we had to bring her into town with us and get her cleaned up, and hold a celebration in her honor for her kindness!"

Inari nodded and concluded for them, "And afterwards, Kimi is going to come with us and work for us~"

"To support your relative?" Takao finally got a word in, determined to get it now that he had something to relate to. "That's very noble of you, Kimi-san!"

(( ANYWAYS, long story short, Ao Kimi was the spirit of a dying girl, it was her own medical bills that kept her family so poor so she wished to pass away to spare her family further trouble and pain. The women accompanying her to the other side are all goddesses in disguise. Amara is actually Amaterasu, Suzume is Ame no Uzume, Kaguya is indeed the Moon Princess Kaguya, and Inami is actually Inari. At the end I was going to have Ao Kimi be seen off to the other world by Kagura, who I felt was the most selfless and kind of Yoshiwara’s gentlemen, and the story would have ended with Ao Kimi becoming a minor goddess and protector of the island, granting calm seas and good health. ))

Historical Figure Tag Game

I honestly... don’t have one? I like too many people? But the first that come to mind are Richard Kidder Meade (because that’s who I’m known for and am writing a biography for) and John Paul Jones (because that’s who I last read about and am basing my graduation project on). I mostly think in groups, though. The Aides-de-camp and the Continental Navy are my historical faves in general. My bio on Meade is just a part of my grand project to one day complete a full and fleshed out account of all of Washington’s aides-de-camp (especially the lesser known ones). I suppose I’ll simultaneously talk about Richard Kidder Meade and John Paul Jones cuz I can’t decide between the two. [I’m probably one of the only people on earth that knows Meade well enough to do something like this for him now that I think about it xD]

2. What is it about them that draws you to them like a magnet?

For Meade, it’s his obscurity. He’s a mystery. There isn’t a whole lot about him out there, but a lot more than I was lead to believe there might be. But even despite everything I know about him, It’s hard to know him. I can tell you what he was involved in, but I can’t tell you what he specifically did while involved with it or why he became involved at all. I can’t tell you what he thought about things and what was going on 98% of the time. I can speculate about his beliefs and reasons all day by looking at the people he surrounded himself with, but, in the end, I still know nothing because They’re not Him. I might know his story but it’s impossible to actually know him and that is frustrating as all hell. He’s A puzzle that’s missing 90% of its pieces. John Paul Jones is one of the most mythologized figures of the American Revolution, second only to George Washington himself. He is also a magnet for misfortune. I’m a sucker for tragedies and rags to riches underdog stories and Jones is both of those things at once. He was able to rise above his circumstances to fame and riches but plummeted back down into obscurity - never achieving his life goals. He’s also a walking contradiction, a man always at war with himself, who he was vs his ideal image of himself and who he wants to be and I find that to be fascinating. The misfortunes of his life also draw my attention. So many things went wrong in his life and looking at the whys is simultaneously fascinating and frustrating. To tangibly see how he changed over time because of these failures, wrongs, and slights is an intriguing study. His life, in general, is just interesting and dynamic to me. There are constant highs and lows and you never know just what to expect when first reading about him.

3. Favorite thing about them?

My favorite thing about Meade has to be his kindness, patience, consideration, and genuineness that’s balanced perfectly by a dry/condescending sense of humor that I wish there were more examples of. My favorite thing about John Paul Jones has to be his persistence. In the face of repeated slights and backstabs, he kept pressing forward. He believed so much in his vision and in the cause of the Revolution that he refused to hesitate or back down in the face of his misfortunes. His endless pursuit of a better version of himself and his attempts to correct his flaws sits in the same vein as that. Every time he stumbled and reverted back to his incredibly flawed self, he picked up and tried again. Granted, a part of his persistence lies in the fact that he wanted to be remembered for something. “My desire for fame is infinite” he once wrote. He wanted fame because without it? He was no one. He was a Scottish servant boy living a false life under a false name and trying to be someone the world told him he couldn’t be. So he had to be persistent in order to stay ahead of the looming fear that he would die a forgotten man.

4. Least favorite thing about them?

My least favorite thing about Meade would be the fact that he owned slaves, but that feels like a cop-out answer to me. So another one of my least favorite things about him is that he hardly ever wrote things down. He seems like he never wrote about his opinions on paper if he could avoid it. Too many times have I read what was, in essence, “I’ll talk about it when I see you next.” He was incredibly prudent when it came to the written word, knowing that there was always a chance that a letter could be intercepted or read without his consent. He also, admittedly, wasn’t a fan of writing letters. So, he either kept his opinions to himself or only voiced them in private conversation. This, of course, means that I know next to nothing about his opinions, beliefs, and experiences. Then again, not many of his letters have survived in general. Some of the ones that I have found were lengthy and honest, like his letter to Hamilton in January of 1781. Or his letters to Theodorick Bland and his brother, Everard after the battle of Great Bridge. The latter two, however, were written before he was acquainted with the intrigues and politics of war and the former was written after he’d already left the army and wasn’t sure he’d ever see Hamilton again. So it can be argued that his prudence extended only to his time as an aide-de-camp. Regardless. He rarely wrote things down and I hate it. But the slave thing again. If Meade could fucking afford to give away so much of his money to charity and to help all the poor and needy in his community and lived like he himself was poor and made everything on-site instead of purchasing it, he probably could have fuckin afforded to manumit his slaves and then hire them to work for him if he was so concerned about them finding work in Virginia or getting forced back into slavery by some asshole who decided to claim they were a runaway. I don’t care that he never made them do anything that he himself wasn’t prepared to do alongside them and that he continued to work with them every day until his body started to fail him - he still fuckin owned them. That’s not cool. The least he could have done was tell his wife to manumit them when she died (she wrote in her will that the slaves were to be allowed to choose which of the children they wanted to go to. I have no idea which they chose. Hopefully, it was one of the kids that went on to free slaves and be an abolitionist). He treated his slaves so well that his daughter, Anne, didn’t realize slavery was a disgusting institution until she married a man who owned 400 which is, like, bravo on Meade’s part for being so great to his 19 but also somehow shittier because his kids didn’t think that there was much of anything wrong with the institution and he never taught them otherwise. Meade was an abolitionist(TM) and needed to be an Abolitionist.

My least favorite thing about John Paul Jones is his Brittle Ego and the fact that he got to a point where he stopped making friends and only took lovers because he could no longer trust anyone. He had felt betrayed so many times that he gave up on people ever being genuine with him and that’s just... it’s sad. He got so paranoid and convinced that everyone was out to get him that he pushed everyone away because of it. The only person he ever trusted, the person he considered to be his best and only friend... betrayed him and turned his back on him (and it wasn’t even his only betrayal. Jones never learned that his ‘friend’ was a British Spy feeding the enemy all of Jones’s plans and schemes from the beginning and was probably never his friend at all) and that was one of the last straws for Jones. Even the people who were genuine with him ended up hurting him in some way and he was unable to forgive them for it. Even if what they did was an effort to look out for him, was something outside of their control, or was just them trying to do what was best for him, he saw it as a complete and utter betrayal. Like it was them turning their backs on him just like everyone else. It was that tendency of his that I hate. His fragile ego, large but haphazardly built. He was insecure, constantly in need of validation, and always spinning the story in his favor in an effort to save face. He was constantly complaining about this thing or that thing (he also offered solutions to those things he was complaining about that everyone ignored because they didn’t care) and he was honestly an exhausting human being to be around at times. The thing about him, though, is that he was aware of that. He was aware of his faults and he was sickened by them but, try as he might, he could not overcome them. Benjamin Franklin once wrote him a scathing letter telling him to shape up and get over himself. Jones was hurt by it at first, but he ultimately took it to heart and tried. Tried so fucking hard because Franklin was like a father to him and he trusted his judgment... but he'd always end up back at square one: hurt, tired, miserable, brooding, and alone with all of his inner demons. Jones needed to stop blaming everyone for things that were outside of their control, blaming other people for things that were his fault, give credit where credit was due, and calm the fuck down and learn to let some things go. (And he tried. tried all of those things. made efforts to do all of those things... but people made that pretty difficult when they didn’t return the favor).

5. If you could fix one thing for them?

The one thing that I would fix for Meade would be him getting to see Alexander Hamilton at least one more time before both of them died. Ideally, they’d get to see each other frequently... if not all the time. The Meades and the Hamiltons would get to go on double dates together like they joked about. Anne and Philip would get together and maybe even get married someday like they hoped they would. Betsy and Molly would get to be best friends. I, just, UGH. I think about those letters all the time and I just want a happy Hamilton and Meade post-war friendship just like the one that they dreamed they could have. Gaaaaah. For Jones, I just want him to be happy. John Paul Jones x Happiness is one of my OTPs. So I'd give him a ship - a fast ship, not a crank ship like all the ones Congress gave him, but a fast ship to sail into harm’s way with and that ship would come with his best first lieutenant, John Rathbun. His perfect balance. The man was a skilled First Lieutenant who knew what he was on about, smoothed out all of Jones’ harsh edges, calmed Jones’ temper when it began to rise, and also served as the perfect mediator/buffer between a captain like Jones and his crew without ever putting Jones’ authority into question. I’d make sure that, no matter what, Jones never lost Rathbun again because while Rathbun was there... Jones was happy. So if I can’t give him a ship... I would still give him Rathbun and, through Rathbun, Jones would have a mostly cooperative, loyal, and content crew and that’s all I ask for. Jones reflected that the happiest time of his life was when he was sailing aboard the Providence with Rathbun and their crew, which was the best he’d ever had, and I just want him to have that back. 

6. If you could change their history, would you? If so, what?

This question is pretty in-line with the previous one. Are we talking about childhoods? I’m going to assume childhoods as being like their ‘history’. With Meade, nothing comes immediately to mind. I don’t really know enough about his childhood, really. But with Jones, I would change the fact that his father locked him inside of a glorified shed with no explanation or real reason to do so aside from wanting to make a sarcastic jab at their master about symmetry? Like, what the fuck? Little J.P. Jr. did nothing wrong??? He had no idea why his dad did that to him??? He was so confused????

If we’re talking about life in general. I would tell Jones that he needed to be nice to John Adams and that John Adams was not, in fact, out to get him like he was convinced he was. And then I would tell John Adams that he needed to be nice to Jones and that Jones was not, in fact, plotting against him like he was convinced he was. And then I would make them be friends so that they could build a navy together because they were pretty much the only two people in the entire god damn country that gave a shit about building a Navy in America and if they would have just, you know, worked together maybe Jones would have achieved his dream of playing a part in America becoming the naval power of the world in the near future and of becoming an admiral. WhICH IS ANOTHER THING? The fucking Jackass!!!! The guy who was #1 on the Navy commission list!! James Nicholson! That Asshat who did nothing to deserve or maintain that position!! I would prevent him from learning that Jones was lobbying to be made Admiral of the Continental Navy (which was a rank still unassigned) so that he wouldn’t be able to walk into congress one day, tell them not to do it because Jones was x.y.z. and causing Congress to nope the fuck out of there because they didn’t want to be caught in the middle of a feud between captains. And then maybe give Jones a commission as Admiral. But, in the end, the way it worked out was probably for the best? Because Jones probably would have made for a shitty Fleet Admiral. He did not have the temperament for it. But it’s what he wanted? So now I’m torn. John Barry was a better option than him, really (which is why Barry became the first Admiral of the U.S. Navy) Regardless, changing history is a no no in any situation because the ripple of those changes may cause some unforeseen changes down the line. So. yeah.

7. First thing you would say to them?

I’d probably say a greeting of some sort. Break the ice. Work my way to becoming a level 4-6 friend so that I can unlock their tragic backstories and gain access to the inner working of their minds. Learn about all of their hopes, dreams, fears, anxieties, desires, etc. from their own mouths and learn why they did the things they did and all of the fun stories. 

8. Bring them to 2017 with you... what does that look like?

With Meade? I honestly have no idea what that would look like. With Jones? He’d be thrilled that the US has the navy of his dreams, the naval academy of his dreams, the everything about the navy of his dreams because someone finally believed in him. Also, I’d tell Jones it’s okay to be Bi in 2017.

9. What WOULDN’T you tell them about the future?

I wouldn’t tell Meade that I’m writing a biography about him, that would be uncomfortable and awkward. I wouldn’t tell Jones that it took almost 200 years for America to appreciate him and that his fear of being forgotten and dying in obscurity came true. All he needs to know is that he’s a naval hero now.

10. Favorite story about them.

Meade was worried that his trusty black mare wouldn’t be able to hold up to the more rigorous riding duties his new station as aide-de-camp required of him. He decided that he would need another horse to rely on for sudden riding missions that required speed just in case because he didn’t want to push her too far. So in September of 1777, he asked his brother to send him one of his younger horses and requested a specific one that he believed should be good for the job, but then it takes almost a year for him to get this horse and he wrote his brother a couple times being like “...horse??????” When he finally got news that a man would be arriving with his requested horse in July of 1778, he got super excited and was anticipating the man and the horse’s arrival every hour. The horse finally arrived but it was injured/lame and sickly. He then spent time nursing this horse back to full health and taking care of it and it’s injuries himself until they were healed. Meade was not impressed with this new horses’ attitude, though. He ended up sticking with his trusty black mare, who had been able to get him out of many dangerous pinches with ease despite his former fears that she wouldn’t be able to handle it while he’d been waiting for the younger one to arrive. After years of war together, his old mare was handling the rigors of his position as aide-de-camp just fine so he continued to stick with her until the end of the war.

One of my favorite stories about Jones is the fact that he was the most wanted man in all of England and he just... walked into London? The guy he was traveling with was like “...I don't think this is a good idea. You know that everyone in England wants to see you hang, right?” And Jones was like “Well I have some secret letters to deliver to John Adams and I think I'll be quite alright.” So the guy reluctantly agreed and dropped Jones off in England.... and no one recognized him. The newspapers had distorted the image of “The Pirate” John Paul Jones so much that when the real man walked into London undisguised not a single person recognized who he was. They didn’t even realize he’d been there until he’d already left and arrived safely in France.

11. Reblog with a picture or painting or depiction of them.

There is nothing depicting Meade that has survived to this day (and potentially nothing ever made depicting him at all. Which is weird because both his older and younger brother had portraits done when they were 8-9 years old), but here’s a portrait of Jones painted in 1904 by Cecilia Beaux. His waist coat was actually White, not red. But I still really like it.

And here’s a copy of the bust of John Paul Jones made in 1780 that was the closest to capturing his likeness of anything else ever made of him during his lifetime and is the only thing that he was 100% satisfied with and wanted to flaunt to everyone. In the early 1900s, we were able to use the copy of the bust that he’d gifted to Jefferson to compare with his mummified corpse in order to confirm that the body they’d dug up from underneath a laundry mat in Paris was, in fact, John Paul Jones.

Parallel World AU : in which baby Mikleo survived thanks to his mother’s sacrifice and baby Sorey was taken by Heldalf. The pain in the ass AU for which I’m currently replaying the game and in which I need to sightly alter canon’s rules. Lot of pain. 

Vouivre AU : My first zesti project, literally created the very moment I learned about seraphim=dragons, because MIKLEO IS THE PERFECT VOUIVRE, LET ME CHANGE MY FAVORITE CHARACTER IN MY FAVORITE CREATURE EVER !! In which Sorey explores the world to learn more about mythical creatures and meet that gorgeous fascinating boy and decides to stalk him. Though Mikleo might be the real stalker here because that human is weird and dumb someone need to keep on eye on his activities who knows what disasters he might bring around It’s not like I’m interested by him or anything. First chapter is settled, I just need to write it..........

Underwater AU : In which seraphim have disappeared and humans survives on floating towns after the world was swallowed by water. Currently trying to define the plot.

Possession AU : Mikleo's body was used to trapped the soul of a tainted dragon when he was a baby. Able to use the dragon's magic, the young man must remain pure until his eighteenth birthday, day when the dragon's soul will be returned to its body and be purified or killed. Unfortunately Michael constant attempts to keep Mikleo pure and the boy's feelings create contradiction in Mikleo's soul, awokening the dragon in him... In which Sorey must deal with an overprotective angry uncle, a dragon using Mikleo's charms to try to make him fall to malevolence, and be sure no one realizes Mikleo is no longer in control or the  boy will be killed.

Witch AU : also called the dragon cockblock AU... based on a dream. In which a cute tiny dragon becomes Sorey’s arch ennemy. There’s also some plot involving Muse and Michael's hatred on witches after losing a baby to them. Or so they think... Lot of pain for Lailah probably...

Elemental AU : In which Mikleo is killed and come back as a water magical boy with no memory and must learn to deal with his unrequired feelings toward that guy who claims to be his best friend and struggle to contains his new power before it consumes him. It started as an AU where Mikleo became a seraph at the beginning of the game story. Then many alternatives to that story came to life and somehow it became an highschool magical boy AU...

Le Portrait de Petite Cosette AU : Sorey is a college art student who works in an antique shop. One day, he sees the image of a boy in an antique glass. Eiri!Sorey, Cosette!Mikleo, Marcello!Michael, Shoko!Alisha.  

Ludwig Revolution AU : Prince Sorey has been kicked out of his kingdom by his father because of his obsession for ancient history and lack of interest in kingdom expansion... He must not return until he finds a wife. Traveling alongside his servant/teacher Lailah, Sorey soon learns about a cursed kingdom and its sleeping princess... In which Mikleo would drowned a whole kingdom for forgetting he’s a prince and not a princess. Okay this one was supposed to be a oneshot about the Sleeping Beauty  chapters but well I need the boys to be happy soooooo... the cast so far : Ludwig!Sorey, Iedike!Mikleo, Wilhelm!Lailah (would have been easier to put Mikleo on this role), Dorothea!Edna, Hansel!Dezel, Gretel!Rose, the King!Heldalf

And many many many more. I kinda want to make a post about all the AUs and in-canon stories...

Your conversation with 50cyg makes me want to ask you something~ What do you think Yamato likes the most about Taichi? What is your favorite scene of them?? Do you think they think about the reasons why they two can form omegamon??!! I'm very curious *^*

You know, at first I thought these questions seemed harmless, but when I got to thinking about them...they took me a while to answer lol

I already know these answers are going to be long. So I’m just going to put them under a cut. 

What do you think Yamato likes the most about Taichi?

I wound up rewriting this answer like six times. 

Yamato is a little on the ambiguous side when it comes to him being direct about his feelings. I think he only ever blatantly said how he was feeling with Gabumon...I think Takeru a little bit too...

But, if it’s personal opinion, I think that Yamato ‘likes’ Taichi for...being Taichi. Lol I know that might contradict what a lot of my fanfics have to say, but in truth I believe that Yamato has an affinity to Taichi’s natural self. (Opposites attract right :P lol jk) 

One of Taichi’s core attributes is his undying conviction in the strength of his friends. The idea that “everything will be okay because I’m with everyone.” Taichi character is built off of his natural state of belief--It’s a major factor behind Taichi’s reasoning and one of the main reasons why he can be so ‘fearless’ in most situations. Especially if you look them starting at the first season and then transgressing through time. 

And Yamato...at first didn’t think like this. Not even in the sense that he was untrustworthy toward others. But more of the idea that Yamato had to be the one doing things. He had to be strong. He had to take matters in his own hands. If it was him doing these things--there’s no god damn point. His whole character arc is Yamato learning about friendship and it’s strength.And most importantly, believing he has others that will stand by his side no matter what--is valid.  And while Yamato does most of this internally...well honestly, a good external factor of him learning this is Taichi. Taichi is both his catalyst and his deterrent--and its because of that is why I think Yamato gains such a strong bond by being with Taichi. 

Cause like, Yamato does eventually come to terms with himself. He admits that his biggest fear is loneliness, and how he’s afraid about being useless because he has no one beside him. Then he also learns how to combat that loneliness. Friendship! By believing in his friends and confiding in them, he can have the strength to not only find a purpose, but to actually believe in himself.

While Yamato finds this through himself. Taichi had little bits and pieces throughout. Starting from idk episode nine when Taichi proclaims “I won’t let go of you! Even if we both end up dying!” To ending it with idk episode 51! Where Yamato is just weeping, holding Taichi in his arms going “you’re my true friend and I won’t let our friendship be in vain!” Yamato comes to term with himself because he had someone like Taichi who always knew that he could. 

Taichi’s natural self is a huge reason why Yamato was able to grow stronger as a person. Why? Cause Taichi believed in him. Even when Yamato didn’t believe in himself. Even if Yamato acted questionable. No matter how many times they wound up fighting. During the first season all of Taichi’s actions were within Yamato’s best interests because deep down Taichi knew that Yamato would do the right thing. Eventually Yamato would get over...whatever he needed to get over--and he’d be back stronger than ever and everything would turn out fine. 

So...I had to pick a trait that Yamato ‘likes’ best about Taichi, it’d be this. The fact that Taichi can believe in others so strongly. I think Taichi’s unwavering faith in others really affected Yamato. Hell, I think that’s why Yamato is so concerned with Taichi’s lack of action in Tri. It’s not so much that ‘oh Taichi you just wanna sit around and be lazy and let bad digimon kill everyone wth is wrong with u bruh’ It’s the idea that, the Taichi that changed Yamato for the better...isn’t there. And he doesn’t know why, and he can’t sit still while his friend suffers like how he used to. So he wants to know what’s going on in Taichi’s head. But Taichi is going through so much turmoil that he can’t even bring himself to say it--thus cue the minutes of screen time with tense glares at each other xD 

Lol, Taichi’s conviction was a pillar Yamato used to build his own strength. He’s hard pressed without it. I think its why Yamato is trying so damn hard to make Taichi get it back. 

What is your favorite scene of them??

...........I can’t pick one. Lol I have several. Like. I’ve tried to shorten the list but I honestly can’t really pick *one*. These TaiYama scenes might as well be horcruxes. A part of my soul dies if I try to get rid of one. 

I mean, when I rewatched the Adv and 02 in Japanese for the first time, that’s when I really started realizing all of the TaiYama moments that made them both so interesting. In the first season there’s episode Nine. 21. 38. 45. 51. Then the whole kaiser kidnapping agumon arc in 02. 

Then there are the movies. Our war game is still my digimon movie.  I wrote a fic based off of diablomon strikes back (i’m actually in the process of rewriting that one too. god i love those movies). Then after years of letting my thoughts drift off one by one. Toei came in and gave me the best TaiYama verse/setting which is Tri. 

With Reunion I was just crossing my fingers hoping for an omage to their hand holding scene, and what I got was sosososo much more. The self reflection bits, the ferris wheel scene, omegamon breaking apart against Alphamon. Then in Determination, there’s the Gintama sauna scene rip off, Hikari confronting Taichi, Yamato’s kabedon. Then in Confession there is that random ice cream date. Then in Loss omg, like that bit where Yamato says ‘i expect too much from him’ like confirmed every hc and plot idea i’ve ever had. And then like everything else in that movie kept my heart pumping lol 

yeah for real I can’t pick *one*. Like every time I try, I just think of four more scenes I like....I’m sorry I’m not the right person to ask about this I am like the greediest fan you’ll ever meet--I just hoard all that is given to me and I refuse to let go >///> 

Do you think they think about the reasons why they two can form omegamon??!!

Oh yeah. I don’t know if there is a correct way of thinking about it though. I’ve seen people write it off as it’s the writer’s will. I’ve also seen people talk about the prophecy and how go into huge amount of details about Taichi and Yamato’s uniqueness. 

On a personal level. I think the strength in Omegamon comes from the strength the two of them in each other. Even if Yamato and Taichi often on opposite sides of the spectrum, they’re two sides of the same coin. And when they work together, things pan out great--and for someone like me, I really do enjoy seeing them work together. 

BUt...it’s also really powerful when Omegamon fails. Like in Diablomon Strikes Back. Omegamon didn’t get destroyed. His arms fell off. The figurative and near symbolic sense of Taichi and Yamato as a fighting force for the digidestined failed.  Or in Tri, when Omegamon broke apart into Wargreymon and MetalGarurumon. His strength started failing when Taichi began to doubt himself. Quite literally shattering away as Taichi’s confidence dissipated away. 

I feel like it’s obvious, but Omegamon is a symbol of Taichi and Yamato’s bond. When their bond is strong, they are invincible. If one of them falters, then they can’t succeed. Again that’s why I think it factors in to how Yamato has been acting the way he has been in Tri. If Omegamon isn’t strong--that’s like the biggest red flag ever. So he knows something is up with Taichi, he just wants to know what. 

Idk, Omegamon is the fusion of Taichi and Yamato’s spirit. Their drive, their will to fight. Their conviction. And it’s a united front. It’s when they both stand together. That’s the whole concept of fusion at least. Taichi and Yamato are the arms fighting for a cause that they believe is just. And if one of them falters...well...so does everything else. 

lol Anyway, this is just me rambling on and off. Thanks for the ask ^^ I just wish I were more articulate so I wouldn’t keep digressing....lol
