Rick Prime haunting C-137 is so good...part of me can imagine C-137 disassociating deeply trying to not hear Prime constant nagging

AAAA sorry I'm only responding to this now I've just been busy and thinking of the best way to answer this.

Rick definitely dissociates when Prime is trying to talk to him. It's a big part of the Aus story that Rick doesn't want to even acknowledge Prime's existence in the beginning. It's why so far I haven't drawn him even telling Prime to shut up.

As far as Rick is concerned, Prime is meant to be dead. Rick was meant to have achieved the goal he's been destroying himself over for the past 40 years. Prime is dead. Gone. In his final moments, the man who took everything from him was able to feel just a fraction of the anger and hurt Rick was going through for all those years. Rick can move on.

Acknowledging that Prime is still somewhat alive, living in his own damn head like a ghost, would open a whole new can of worms for Rick. He failed his goal because Prime is still alive. All of the fighting was for nothing. His biggest concern would be the safety of the Smiths. There's also the horrifying question of what Prime might be planning, and if Rick can even stop him at all. Rick is trying his best to stay calm, but Prime seems hellbent on breaking him down whatever way he can.

Rick just wants absolutely nothing to do with Prime at this point in the story. He's trying his best to ignore the truth staring him right in the face when he gets up every morning. Because meeting Prime's eyes properly and acknowledging the situation in front of him, and how powerless he might be to change it, could break him. Despite all his research efforts (which I'd like to make a comic about), he still can't find a way to get rid of Prime, and that frustrates him even more.

I don't want the whole Au to just be Rick torture porn but part of the fun of writing about it IS Ricks suffering lmao. I don't think I can really do justice here to the terrifying idea of the man who killed your family literally living in your head. Having to wake up everyday knowing there's a little part of you now that belongs to the person you hate most, and yet that person is another version of you.

The Ryoko Kui interview's reception is such a disaster over a pretty normal (yet still flawed) interview between a non-Japanese fan and Japanese artistic. This is discourse for discourse's sake, and it's no surprise that almost every Twitter user I've looked at who's using this interview to parade Kui around as a goated mangaka standing strong against Western ideology is anti-trans.

Like, I do think the interview was kinda wonky with its focus on fandom culture, which Kui clearly didn't have much interest in. But sometimes that happens. Sometimes interactions between two people, especially a fan and a creator, two people who view and interact with a piece of media in completely opposite perspectives, don't click. Does this really need to get blown up into a "West vs. East culture war" issue.

Anyways, Kui saying "I don't consider my audience's interpretations when writing. I leave it to their imaginations, but I have my own read on things too" is the healthiest, most normal thing an artist/writer who wants a non-parasocial audience could say. Artists and writers use this line all the time. If Kui didn't enjoy autistic Laius or Farcille headcanons, she would have probably voiced/signalled her discomfort, like she did on the topic of Senshi fanservice. Overall, Kui handled the interview really well. Props to her to sticking to her guns and keeping a healthy disconnect from the fandom. While I think the interviewer could've/should've been more tactful and restrained, the flaws in their questions is not a symptom of the woke mind virus trying to wriggle its way into the pure Japanese psyche. It's the sign of an over-eager fan who sees a piece of fiction differently than its creator.

I think its a rite of passage to make an au at least once, and ive been thinking super hard about how Sonic raised tails lately. So obviously an age swap au had to happen. Aka, the au in which they are both team turbo nerd and Tails needs a Vacation as a dire medical suggestion. (more rambling in tags)

yk when i think about it, especially when im watching the anime with people who havent read the manga, the reason a lot of people who only watch the anime and didnt read the manga misinterpreted saikis character so badly is definitely in part because of how damn fast paced the anime is 😭

like that little smile and eye shine frame is there for not even half a second in the anime, so its easier to miss it and assume that he really did only finish those workbooks to get coffee jelly ☠️ its much more clear if you get a good look at how he reacts here that hes just a silly little tsundere and a fucking liar

One of the biggest things that makes me see Leo as trans is absolutely the size of his carapace in comparison to his brothers’.

And I’m not talking about height! I’m specifically looking at his shell here, because when you compare him to the others, particularly Donnie who is nearly the same height as Leo, it’s very clear that Leo’s carapace is much longer in proportion to the rest of his body.

Like - standing side by side, even though Donnie is shorter his carapace ends noticeably higher up than Leo’s does. And I like this not only because it really helps push the idea that Leo could very likely be trans (or intersex!), but it’s also just a fun design difference between them.

(It also lends way to future scenarios of Donnie eventually getting taller than Leo, but sitting down still has Leo being the taller one haha.)
