for charity
for @steddieholidaydrabbles prompt 'formal'
all of my holiday drabbles will be from the bear hugs universe. many of them could probably be read standalone, but will make the most sense and be enjoyed best if you read that first!
rated t | 495 words | cw: a little sexual tension | tags: pre-steddie, banter, flashback
🤵🏻🤵🏻🤵🏻🤵🏻🤵🏻🤵🏻🤵🏻🤵🏻🤵🏻🤵🏻🤵🏻🤵🏻🤵🏻🤵🏻
“It’s literally for charity,” Steve groans. “Just put on the suit!”
“It’s itchy!” Eddie argues. “And the pants are weird.”
“The pants are weird.”
Steve is looking at him like he’s grown an extra head. It’s not the first time and won’t be the last.
“They fit like pj pants but aren’t pj pants material so when I sit and walk, everything chafes,” Eddie explains calmly.
“You don’t have a choice,” Steve holds up the pants. “It’s only for a few hours.”
“A few hours of torture!” Eddie whines as he takes the pants from Steve. He strips his sweatpants off and pouts.
He can feel Steve’s eyes on him as he pulls the slacks on, buttoning them up and hoping he can get away with not wearing a belt. No one said anything about belts being required.
“You didn’t tuck in your shirt,” Steve says as he walks up to him, not quite hiding the fond smile breaking out across his face.
“I refuse.”
Steve rolls his eyes and tugs Eddie closer by the waistband of his pants. He stuffs the shirt into them, sloppy at first, then slowing down so he can make sure it looks right.
He’s too focused to notice Eddie’s face going red, to hear his quiet gasp at the feeling of Steve’s hands against his waist. They’ve always been touchy with each other, but this feels intimate, different.
“There.”
Steve’s hands are still at his hips, gently resting as he finally makes eye contact with Eddie. He looks proud of himself, and Eddie thinks now is the perfect time to kiss him.
Except it isn’t. They have to be at this charity ball for the children’s hospital in less than an hour. If Eddie kisses him now, they won’t make it to the event.
They’ll either be too busy doing other things or Eddie will be going into the witness protection program for ruining his friendship with Steve.
Eddie breathes in, forces a smile, and pulls away.
“Fine. You win. I look great.” Eddie laughs and it almost sounds normal. “I suppose you expect me to wear those god awful shoes too?”
Steve looks down at his feet and crosses his arms. “You can’t wear your sneakers. Or boots.”
“The boots were just cleaned though!”
Steve rolls his eyes, but Eddie knows it’s not real annoyance. If it was, he would have stopped arguing and walked out of the room a while ago.
“The nice shoes.” Steve steps closer and arranges a strand of Eddie’s hair, moving it behind his ear. He steps back. “We leave in ten minutes. Don’t forget your phone.”
Eddie gulps.
He has no idea how he’s gonna make it through this night, especially not when he watches Steve walk away and sees the way his pants fit his ass.
He’ll have to keep his indecent thoughts in the back of his mind yet again.
Maybe someday he’ll be able to say them out loud.

Hiya!! Could I request christmas as parents with Taesan?
day 7 ⋆。˚❆˚ 。⋆ christmas as parents!
han taesan x reader [fluff, fem!mum!reader, dad!taesan]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
10:53 - “baekho-ya!” you exclaimed, “come, quickly!”
baekho’s head snapped in your direction, where you stood crouched beside his little sister. he ran from where he was bothering his dad in the kitchen.
“what, mummy?” the five-year-old said, placing his hand on your shoulder once he arrived at your side.
“look, it’s your favourite christmas decoration!” you gasped, pointing to the winnie the pooh ornament you’d bought when baekho was just a baby, for one of your first christmases at your new house.
you and seulgi were in the midst of decorating a tree (or you were, while your one-year-old daughter hindered under the appearance of help), but you and taesan had many conversations this year about how your little boy was growing up too fast and, if anything, losing the magic of christmas already.
baekho fought a smile, scoffing at your words. you smiled, wrapping an arm around his waist, “don’t you want to hang it on the tree?”
baekho looked back at taesan, who was now coming to join you.
“is that still his favourite? baekho’s a big boy now, remember,” taesan offered, “i like this one.”
he reached down into the box, pulling out a polar bear.
baekho watched with interest taesan organising the decoration on the tree. you smiled up at your husband, who then took your daughter in his arms, showing her the decoration (from a safe distance).
“well i like this one,” you said, digging around until you found the very first ornament you’d bought for baekho’s first christmas: a family of snowmen, with each of your names listed on each one. you nudged your son with a wink, “good job seulgi can’t read yet, hey?”
he giggled as you placed the decoration on the tree, studying it for a moment afterwards. he then reached down, gentle hands picking up the winnie the pooh bauble, “hmm. i think this is still my favourite, actually dad. be– because there’s a tiger here, and i’m tiger.”
you smiled, kissing your son’s head as you stood up, “nice. go on then, put it on the tree.”
taesan smiled down at his son as he rocked back and forth with seulgi in his arms, he didn’t want to push it too much, but he was happy to know his son wasn’t void of christmas spirit just yet, “hey bud, have you ever seen home alone?”
baekho looked at his dad; who, although he would scarcely admit it, was his hero. he shook his head.
taesan gasped, nodding, “it’s one of the bests. but it’s based at christmas, is that alright?”
baekho giggled, before nodding.
“yeah? i thought for a moment you didn’t like christmas,” taesan said, placing seulgi back down on the floor as the boys busied themselves with decorating the tree, baekho doing so absentmindedly.
“no! i like it,” baekho announced, in the way that children do about any matter: serious or not, “particu-lar-ly because of seulgi.”
“yeah?” taesan hummed, looking down at his son with intrigue, “why’s that?”
baekho looked at his little sister who was sat on the floor, staring up at the christmas tree lights. he laughed, “she likes it. and–and i was worried that santa wouldn’t know she existed. b-because it was only her first christmas. but she got loads of presents! but–but i was still worried this year, even so, so i added what i think she wanted when i wrote my list.”
taesan’s mouth dropped open, as he nodded, finally understanding why his sport-loving son asked for baby dolls and various baby sensory toys on his christmas list. he thought it’d been a joke.
“hey bud, you don’t need to worry about that!” taesan laughed, checking to see you were watching what your son was saying as you stood in the kitchen, “you know me and mummy are in close contact with santa, right? it’s a privilege you get when you become a parent.”
baekho giggled, taesan just nodding seriously.
“how about you re-write your list then, bud? cause we gave him some ideas, but we didn’t really know what you wanted for christmas!”
baekho nodded shyly, taesan smiling and patting him on the back, “go on, then. seulgi can help me with the tree, can’t you princess? yes!”

Literally all of this. I know the tumblr therian community says it’s super accepting , etc etc, and that is part of the reason why I came here… but honestly, i’ve seen more hate and discourse here than I ever have on tiktok. Maybe I was lucky, maybe I just blocked the right people from the start!! But considering a majority of the tiktok therian community appears to be children, it’s very… odd to me that a community that seems to have more adults in it is so vitriolic towards them!
Yes, there are a lot of “tiktok therians” who are less educated about therianthropy, or miseducated, but being mean about it won’t help. I think a lot of the tumblr community likes to act as “educators” when they simply aren’t cut out for it. Not in the way where they get definitions wrong, but just not realizing that education is the long game and it won’t go any faster if you’re rude about it. It’s not a bad thing to not be an educator, and I know many of us want to help, but like Paleo said, sometimes you have to just agree to disagree! They will come around eventually. Welcoming them here where they have more exposure to diverse therianthropic experiences is the best thing we can do to heal the community right now.
There is this malicious idea about these young “tiktok therians” and that they’re a group that we need to “drive out” , but I think if you look further than what may be just the jumbled wording of a young therian who is probably being relentlessly bullied and just wants acceptance from *somewhere*, and is still finding their place in the world, I see a group with a lot of potential! I’m so tired of seeing so much unhelpful criticism for what they do , especially if it’s presented in a snarky, know-it-all kind of way. It’s just not helpful in my opinion.
And, if for any reason it becomes too much, I really think people have to utilize the block button more. It’s your blog, and if you don’t want to deal with the potential wave of new accounts… block them? If they’re being disrespectful and you don’t want to deal with it… block them. I don’t understand what’s so scary about them coming here when you can just filter them out and ignore them if you’d really like, but perhaps I haven’t been here long enough. I sincerely doubt any of them would try to “tiktok-ify” tumblr though, because this platform and community isn’t really built for it. I haven’t even seen tumblr mentioned as one of the places to migrate to, so if they do come here it will be far less “catastrophic” than this community is suggesting.
I might be biased in all of this because I was technically a “tiktok therian”, but I’m really starting to dislike how many of us here act as if they’re the devil or something. It’s weird..!!
I don't want to engage in discourse, but I've seen so many posts here lately talking about "Tik Tok Therians" and worries about them migrating to Tumblr.
I'm just imagining what it's like for them. Imagine coming to Tumblr for the first time and discovering all this hate and infighting. Your main way of seeing content of others like you has been taken away from you, so you turn to Tumblr, only to find hundreds of posts making assumptions and generalizations about you. Imagine coming from Tik Tok and the first post you see on here is someone calling you annoying.
Are we really as accepting as we claim to be? Now is the time to prove it.
Yes, I would absolutely be bullied off the face of Tik Tok if I ever ended up there, but that doesn't mean I will treat them the same if they ended up here. If you're scared of Tumblr turning as toxic and hostile as Tik Tok, maybe the answer is to simply avoid being toxic and hostile.
Also, a bit of a tangent, but sometimes the best way to go about things is just agreeing to disagree with those around you. I can't even count how many times I've changed my mind about something because I saw someone with a different opinion and had a civil discussion, or did proper research about something I was misinformed on because I befriended someone new. Of course we are all entitled to opinions, and we can't always see eye to eye, but that's life.
Personally, my blog will welcome these "Tik Tok Therians" with open arms. They will see that I'm weird, but most importantly they will also see that I am one of them, I am kind, and willing to educate without hate.

You Go To See A Christmas Carol Part I
Going to see a Christmas Carol in the Human World with Diavolo and the brothers takes a turn when the brothers forget what’s normal for them is not normal for everyone else.
You shuffled out from the middle seat of the packed car and hopped onto the icy pavement. You blew into your gloves to warm your face and looked around as the brothers climbed out of the cars around you.
Mammon: “So, this is the fancy theatre place, huh?”
Satan: “It’s a performing arts center.”
Mammon: “That’s the same damn thing!”
Lucifer: “Quiet! We’re late enough as it is! I won’t have you all bickering in the parking lot and wasting more time. You should be thankful Diavolo even invited you to this play to begin with.”
Leviathan: “What is this play about again?”
MC: “It’s called A Christmas Carol.”
Belphegor: “Ugh, we don’t have to listen to carolers do we?”
Beelzebub: “It’ll be okay Belphie.”
Belphegor: “No it won’t. Remember what satan did last time?”
Satan: “I was being slandered, those kids had it coming!”
Lucifer: “That’s enough! Let’s go! Start walking!”
MC: “Yes, father.”
Belphegor: “Pft!”
Lucifer: “What was that?”
MC: “I didn’t say anything.”
Lucifer: “That’s what I thought. Now does everyone have their human identities?”
Mammon: “Ugh, not this again.”
Lucifer: “This it’s important. Our names are well known up here, gathered all in one place like this it could scare someone.”
Belphegor: “That sounds like fun.”
Lucifer: “It won’t be when Michael hears about it. Now, tell me your names again.”
Mammon: “Matthew…boring ass name—“
Asmodeus: “Guuuuuys! I can see my breath! Look!”
Asmodeus: “Huuuuuuuh.”
Mammon: “Oh yeah! Neat!”
Lucifer: “Stop that. Honestly, you aren’t children.”
Lucifer ushered you to the growing lines as everyone excitedly waited to get through security and into the grand hall for the long-awaited performance.
Security Officer: “Lines that way.”
Lucifer: “Thank you.”
Satan: “We have tickets already.”
Security Officer: “Still that way.”
Satan: “Fine.”
MC: “Excuse me, we’re looking for a friend.”
Mammon: “Why would he know Diavolo, there’s like a million people here?”
MC: “He’s a real eccentric guy, red hair?”
Security Officer: “You mean that guy waving on the balcony?”
MC: “Yeah, that’s the one.”
Security Officer: “Been there about three hours now.”
Lucifer: “How many?”
Security Officer: “Staff was making a real big fuss about him too. You know him?”
MC: “Yeah, he kidnapped me a while back.”
Security Officer: “Excuse me?”
MC: “So the lines that way, yeah? Thanks.”
Security Officer: “Kidnapped?”
You chose not to answer him and ran to catch up with the brothers who’d quickly followed Lucifer lest they provoke his seasonally intense wrath.
Satan: “Lucifer you don’t need to call him you can see him from here just fine.”
Mammon: “I think he’s shoutin’ somethin’?”
Leviathan: “He’s saying…uh…”
Beelzebub: “I…can… see… my…. Breath.”
Lucifer: “…”
Lucifer: *sigh*
Asmodeus: “Isn’t it cool!!!”
Mammon: “Yikes! My ears Asmo!”
Lucifer: “That’s enough, where’d MC go?”
Leviathan: “Hey that officer guy looks kind of nervous now…he’s really staring at us?”
Lucifer: “He probably heard Mammon refer to Asmo by his name.”
Mammon: “You just referred to me by my name too!”
MC: “Hey guys, what’d I miss?”
Lucifer: “Nothing of significance.”
Beelzebub: “Lord Diavolo says he can see his breath.”
MC: “That’s adorable, I expect nothing less.”
Lucifer: “Please don’t encourage him MC.”
MC: “No promises.”
Lucifer: *sigh* “Does everyone have their tickets?”
Satan: “No.”
Lucifer: “What do you mean, no!?”
Satan: “You took them because you didn’t trust us to hold them!”
Lucifer: “Clearly I was right.”
Satan: “What?”
Lucifer: “Mammon this is yours. Your name is now Matthew Morningstar.”
Mammon: “I know, you made me go over it a million times. I don’t think anyone’s gonna even ask right?”
Lucifer: “They will in an interrogation.”
Asmodeus: “What? Are we being interrogated?”
Lucifer: “Hopefully not.”
MC: “The night’s still young.”
Lucifer: “Stop it, MC.”
Lucifer: “Levi, congratulations you get to keep your name.”
Leviathan: “Thank goodness.”
Lucifer: “Satan you’re going as Stanford Morningstar.”
Satan: “That’s a stupid last name.”
Lucifer: “Ignoring that, Belphegor your name is Todd.”
MC: “Why’d you choose Todd?”
Belphegor: “It means death in German.”
MC: “Yup, okay…”
Lucifer: “Beelzebub, you’re name is Benjamin, you can go by Ben if you want to— do not eat this ticket.”
Beelzebub: “…”
Lucifer: “Todd, you’re holding onto his ticket.”
Mammon: “Who the fuck is Todd?”
MC: “Belphegor, pay attention.”
Belphegor: “I am paying attention.”
MC: “I was talking to Matthew.”
Beelzebub: “Matthew?”
Lucifer: “Change of plan, we only call each other by our human names in front of other humans.”
MC: “I’m a human.”
Lucifer: “You don’t count.”
MC: “Shucks.”
Lucifer: *sigh* “Asmodeus you’re name is Amadeus, that’s an easy one, don’t forget it.”
Asmodeus: “Okie!”
Lucifer: “I’m going as Lucious, I believe that’s everyone.”
Asmodeus: “I’ll go first and show you all how it’s done!”
Leviathan: “Why do I have a bad feeling about this?”
Satan: “Because you should.”
Guard: “Ticket.”
Asmodeus: “Right here sweetie!”
Guard: “Amadeus?”
Asmodeus: “That’s right!”
Guard: “That’s a cool name. Seeing the Christmas Carol?”
Asmodeus: “I sure am!”
Guard: “Haven’t seen it in a bit, hope ya have fun. I’ll have to take my wife and kids when I get a chance, maybe next year. Alright, raise your arms for me.”
Asmodeus: “Oh no, did I mess up already?”
Guard: “Already?”
Leviathan: “Asmo, just T-Pose.”
Asmodeus: “Ew, why in the Devildom would I do that? That’s so not tending right now!”
Lucifer: “He has to use the metal detector, lift your arms.”
Asmodeus: “Ooooh, okay!”
Mammon: “Real master if I ever saw one…”
Asmodeus: “Shut up Mammon! I’d like to see you do better!”
Guard: “Any weapons on you, sir?”
Asmodeus: “Oooh, just in my pants!”
Guard: “I’ll need you to take it out for me.”
Asmodeus: “What? How bold! Right here in front of all these people?”
Guard: “…?”
Lucifer: “That’s it. I’m sorry sir, my brother was making a stupid dirty joke, none of us have any weapons. Lift your arms Asmo before I do it for you.”
Asmodeus: “That sounds like fun.”
Lucifer: “It won’t be once we’re home if you don’t hurry it up.”
Asmodeus: “Yikes! Okay, okay!”
Guard: “Okay…just gonna pat you down real quick….”
Asmodeus: “Pat me anywhere you want pal— ow! Lucifer that hurt!”
Lucifer: “Be. Quiet.”
Guard: “Lucifer…u-um…Amadeus, you’re all good.”
Lucifer: “Don’t you dare go anywhere, wait right there until Mam—Matthew goes through.”
Mammon: “Y’know on second thought why don’t I watch Satan first?”
Satan: “Ow! Don’t shove me what’s wrong with you?”
Lucifer: “Someone just go.”
Satan: “Very well”
Guard: “So…that’s you’re umm…brother?”
Satan: “Unfortunately.”
Guard: “Stanford Morningstar?”
Satan: “Stupid surname, I’m aware.”
Guard: “I think it’s quite unique actually, has a nice ring to it.”
Satan: “That’s your opinion.”
Guard: “Uh, lift your arms please…no weapons I presume?”
Satan: “None.”
Guard: “You’re all good, please proceed.”
Leviathan: “Mammon don’t push me what’s up with you!?”
Guard: “Are you next?”
Leviathan: “H-Hello, fellow human! Sir!”
Guard: “Haha! You guys are a pretty fun bunch aren’t ya?”
Leviathan: “We met at a convent.”
Guard: “What?”
Lucifer: “What?”
Leviathan: “I-I, um…it just came out.”
MC: “This is beautiful.”
Lucifer: “MC, you’re next. Please take them up to Lord Diavolo after this.”
Guard: “Alright, no weapons, you’re good.”
Leviathan: “Thank you, goodbye!”
Mammon: “…”
Guard: “So one big family trip today huh?”
MC: “No, I was kidnapped.”
Guard: “What?”
MC: “I forgave them though. Stockholm syndrome is a hell of a drug.”
Guard: “You guys really are pretty funny. You a comedy group or somethin’?”
MC: “We might as well be given my daily life.”
Guard: “Any weapons?”
MC: “Only spiritual.”
Guard: “Good on you. Me too. Catholic, what about you?”
MC: “I don’t even know at this point. I’m just here for Diavolo.”
Guard: “Well I hope you figure it out, have a good time.”
MC: “God willing.”
You looked at Lucifer as you said that and he glared at you while you gave Mammon, who was sweating bullets, a curious look. Something was definitely wrong with him.
Leviathan: “You think they’ll be okay in line without us?”
MC: “It’s just Beel, Belphie, and Mammon, it’ll be fine.”
Satan: “Okay. Let’s go up to see Lord Diavolo and brief him.”
MC: “Someone go buy some popcorn so Beel doesn’t have a breakdown in line.”
Asmodeus: “Leave it to me!”
MC: “No charming anyone, they’ll get fired.”
Asmodeus: “Ugh, fine.”
Mammon: “Hey uh…Belphie you mind going ahead.”
Belphegor: “What, why?”
Mammon: “I uh…may have forgotten somethin’…”
Belphegor: “…what did you do?”
Mammon: “Nothin’.”
Lucifer: “Mammon.”
Mammon: “I uh…forgot that weapons were kinda a big deal in the human world…maybe.”
Lucifer: “…”
Lucifer: “Beelzebub, Belphegor, don’t cause trouble, go right to MC they’re waiting at the door.”
Mammon: “Hey that’s my collar, hey! Where are ya takin’ me? Lucifer!”
Guard: “…”
Belphegor: “Just ignore them, it’s better not to question it.”
Guard: “Right…so umm, Todd, is it?”
Belphegor: “It means death in German.”
Guard: “Okay….arms up, please….You’re good….right along…”
Beelzebub: “Belphie, my ticket.”
Belphegor: “Oh yeah, here.”
Guard: “I’ll take that, thank you. Benjamin?”
Beelzebub: “What? No, it’s Beelzebub.”
Guard: “What?”
Beelzebub: “Who’s Benjamin?”
Guard: “This ticket is assigned to a Benjamin Morningstar.”
Beelzebub: “Oh yeah…that’s me.”
Guard: *mumbling to himself* “He’s the last one…you can do this…”
Beelzebub: “Is something wrong?”
Guard: “Arms up please…quick pat down…go ahead.”

Under the Mistletoe
Tumblr media
bf!Choso x Reader
“I just don't get what the big deal is about this Christmas thing.” He admits, his eyes flicking back to the screen for a brief second. Then it hits you. Sometimes you forget that there are still many things that feel foreign to the half-curse. Things that you grew up with and felt natural to you. Your sweet boyfriend has never experienced this magical winter holiday.
Content: fluff, fluff and more FLUFF, reader has no given gender or description, no use of y/n, established relationship, reader is homesick, reader is implied sorcerer, comfort, christmas and winter activities, pet names (baby, babe, love), found family, a bit cheesy, links to Twitter for visuals :)

December 1st
You and Choso are cuddling together on the couch as your fireplace crackles in the background, filling the house with a comfortable warmth that contrasts from the chilly outdoors. Eyes glued to the TV screen as you watch the first Christmas movie of the year. A large quilt wrapped around both of you, hands locked together beneath the blanket. His calloused thumb caresses the back of your hand, the only sign he was still awake. The warmth from his body acts as your personal heater as you lean your head against his shoulder. You exhale a pleasant sigh, this is exactly what you needed.
This would be your first year spending the holidays away from family. Now that December has come, you can’t stop thinking about how much you miss them. Christmas was always such a big deal back home, but you weren't able to accrue enough time off to fly back home. Last year you moved across the country for a job position at Jujutsu Tech, personally picked by Satoru Gojo himself. So you picked up and moved, essentially starting a whole new life. As scary as it was, you were welcomed into their community, making friends quickly with the other sorcerers and students. Through them, you also met your loving boyfriend Choso. Whose cheek is currently pressed against the top of your head as he stares at the TV screen.
“I just don't get it,” he mutters suddenly, more to himself than you.
“Get what baby?” You ask as he lifts his head, your gaze meeting his conflicted brown eyes.
“This” he waves his free hand wildly toward the movie you put on in hopes of curing your winter blues.
“Oh? You don’t understand the movie?” You ask, cocking your head. You thought it was a pretty straight forward story, it was a children’s movie after all. Before you can open your mouth to break down the plot of the animated film, he interrupts you.
“Oh! Christmas? It’s a holiday Cho. It happens once every year during December. It’s a special celebration where you gather with your loved ones and make lots of memories.”
“And…you're required to bring the trees in the house?” He points to the screen as the characters decorate a Christmas tree, a skeptical look on his face causing you to giggle.
“There is more than just that. It’s baking cookies and giving gifts, parties and hot cocoa!” As you gush about your favorite traditions, you feel a spark set off inside you. Igniting the Christmas spirit that the dreary weather had locked away from you, thawing the excitement you used to feel toward this season. “Most importantly, it's about spending time with family.” You add.
“I still don't think I fully understand.” He sighs, scratching the back of his neck as he processes your words.
That's when you realize, you don’t have to fly all the way back home to celebrate. Choso is your family now, and he’s right here. With the cutest confused look plastered to his face as he waits for you to reply.
“Don’t worry, I’ll show you.” You smile warmly before leaning in to plant a light kiss to his cheek.
After 150 years, Choso would be celebrating his first Christmas.
Tumblr media
December 8th
Both you and Choso were lucky enough to only work a half day today. Warnings of a looming snowstorm caused the school to close early, wanting the students and staff to take necessary precautions. The two of you decide to head back to your place together after leaving Jujutsu Tech, snow already lightly falling. He opens the front door for you, always such a gentleman, and follows you inside.
“Can we watch another Christmas Movie?” He asks slightly excited before he's even finished sliding his boots off. His sudden interest in the holiday catches you by surprise. You have both been so busy with work the past week you haven’t had any time to relax together, let alone indulge in some holiday festivities.
“Sure Choso.” You smile as you lead him over to the couch, throwing a couple blankets over the two of you. You find another holiday classic and press play.
“Yuji told me about Christmas,” he mentions, eyes glued to the screen. “It sounds very fun and I can’t wait to celebrate it with you.” He whispers as he presses his lips to your temple in a soft kiss. His sweet words warm your soul.
“Me too Cho. I’m glad I get to spend my Christmas with you.” You melt into his embrace as the movie plays.
“I've been researching it. Christmas” he explains. “It’s something you love, so I want to know all there is about it.” He admits. How did you end up with such a thoughtful man?
As the movie continues, you notice Choso paying attention less and less, his eyes drawn to the heavy snow falling outside your window. Eventually, he ignored the movie completely, the movie he requested to watch. Mesmerized by the falling specks of white. You reach for the remote to pause the film.
“Baby, you aren’t even watching” you laugh slightly, elbowing him in the side.
“Sorry. It's just…look.” He doesnt turn back to you as he speaks, eyes still watching the window. His index finger pointing. “It’s beautiful.” He exhales dreamily. The way he speaks about the weather, something so common this type of year, makes you smile wide.
“It is isn't it. Do you want to go outside and watch?” You ask.
“Yes! Can we?” He nods furiously, excited with the chance to see his first snowfall up close, to observe it fall from the sky.
The two of you stand and move toward the door. He reaches for the door handle to rush out but you stop him. He looks at you, confused and cocking his head to the side. First you offer to go outside and now you're telling him no.
“Wait, you need to bundle up first. I don't want you to catch a cold.” You grab a knit beanie and slip it over his pigtails, making the hat bulge awkwardly from the amount of hair stuffed underneath. Then wrapping a red scarf around his neck and face, making sure it stays snug against his cheeks. You repeat the same process for yourself before allowing him to exit the house.
Once outside, he stares up at the sky. Snow collects on his dark lashes as he watches it fall from the source. Struck by fascination. He doesn't speak a word, just watches the powder fall to earth, and you can't help but watch him in return. The way he gazes up with child-like wonder.
A light bulb flashes in your head. You walk across the yard, Choso not even noticing your disappearance. Reaching down, you scoop up a handful of snow. An icy chill spreading through your bare fingers. Smashing it together to form a tight ball and tossing it directly into his side. He flinches and turns at you, an almost startled look on his face.
“What the heck was that for?” he tilts his head to the side, almost looking offended by your attack.
“Time for a snowball fight!” you declare as you reach down and grab another handful, packing the ball and launching at his stomach. He lets out a small huff before bending down to mimic your actions, tossing it back. Of course, his aim is perfect. Not once failing to miss his target, you. No matter how much you try and dodge, they all land. While you throw them with all your might, Choso tosses them gently. Like he's afraid one wrong throw would break you. Treating you like you're more fragile than a glass sculpture.
“Ok truce, truce!” you throw your freezing hands up, he drops the snowball he had been preparing in his hands. You jog back to his side, seeing his bangs poke out from under the beanie, caked in the falling snow. Reaching up, your fingers brush against the brown strands, shaking it free of the white powder clinging to it. The scarf loosened, revealing his smiling face, his nose and cheeks tinted a bright red from the winter wind.
“Let's go inside my pretty boy.”

December 10th
You enter Jujutsu Tech in the morning, walking to the break room and making a pot of coffee for you and the other staff members. Once it is brewed you pour yourself a mug and walk down the hall toward the classrooms. You notice Yuji as he enters the building, alone. Him and Choso always arrive together. Seeing him walk in alone is just odd.
“Yuji? Where is your brother?” You ask, sipping from the mug, trying to distract yourself from the concern brewing in your stomach.
“Um…Choso caught a cold.” He says sheepishly. Your instincts were right to worry. Of course he did, and of course he wouldn't tell you. He has a bad habit of hiding his issues from you so you won't worry. He hates to see you worry, especially if it’s about him. Probably even begged his younger brother not to tell you, but Yuji knew better than to keep secrets from you.
“Thanks for telling me” You say softly to Yuji, smiling as you pat his shoulder.
You decide to just work another half day today, dismissing the students early. They have been working hard these last few months, and with Christmas break fast approaching you decided to take it easy on them. They deserved some rest time too. Gathering your things, you leave quickly and make your way to Choso’s place.
You stopped at a convenience store on the way, making sure to pick up some cold fighting essentials. You can’t help but feel partially at fault. Just two days ago you were both outside playing in the snow. While you made sure to layer him in winter clothing beforehand, you may have stayed out a little too long.
You unlace your boots and shed your winter layers when you enter the front door, tossing them onto the bench in the entryway. An earth shattering sneeze coming from the bedroom makes you jump out of your skin, the noise leading to Choso’s bedroom. Walking down the hall to his room, plastic bed crinkling in hand with each movement.
Peering into his room, you see him lying in his bed, bed sheets pulled up to his chin. Noticing your footsteps, he turns on his side to look at you. The poor boy is in a rough state. His hair messy as it lays spread over his pillow and his cheeks slightly flushed. His nose is red and angry, raw from the tissues. A big, dramatic pout on his lips when his eyes fall on your form.
“You got sick?” You ask as you walk forward and sit on the edge of the bed, placing a hand on his back through the blankets. He nods, almost disappointed looking.
“Yuji said I have a cold.” His voice is so rough and raspy it makes you wince. “What if I'm not better in time for Christmas?” he looks up at you, wide eyed and slightly panicked.
“It’s common this time of year Cho, the cold changing weather seems to bring it on for a lot of people.” You speak softly as you continue to rub his back through the blanket. “Don’t worry, it should only last a few days.”
“You shouldn’t be here, you could get sick too,” he frowns. While that is true, you don’t care right now. Not when your poor boyfriend looks as miserable as he does, fighting the first cold of his lifetime. Catching his sickness was a risk you were willing to take.
“I’m here to make you feel better.” You whisper, pressing your lips to his forehead in a feather-light kiss. No fever, that’s good. He opens his mouth to protest again but breaks off in a fit of painful coughs. Your hands firmly rubbing his back as he works through it. Once he stops, he looks at you with glassy eyes. A look of defeat and acceptance as he shifts over in his bed to make room next to him.
“Here, sit up” You ask, and he complies. Adjusting so his back is against the headboard. You rustle around in the bag and pull out some medicine and a cold bottle of water. When you place the pills in his hand, he looks at you with unease. This is all a new and unpleasant experience for him.
“Trust me, it will help.” You murmur, holding out the water bottle for him.
“I do trust you” He rasps, popping the pills in his mouth and washing them down with cool water, easing his throat.
“Try not to talk so much, you're just going to make your throat worse.” He responds with a nod.
After he eats a bowl of warm chicken noodle soup, the two of you lay down in bed as yet another animated Christmas movie plays on the screen. The fatigue must have finally caught up to him. His head resting against your shoulder as the rest of his body leans on you like dead weight. Congested snores leaving his open mouth.
As you look at him, it's hard to believe that a man so big and strong can look so small and vulnerable at this moment. You lay him down to settle comfortably on his bed, tucking him in nice and tight.
“My poor big baby” you whisper to no one but yourself as your fingers brush a strand of hair out of his face. For a slight moment, you catch his lips twitch into a quick smile, reacting to your touch even in his sleep.

Thanks to your care, Choso is back to normal in no time, and luckily you also dodged the bullet of catching his cold. He joins you back at work by the end of the week, sitting in the breakroom together on lunch break. A few of the other teachers and staff are also eating with you.
“I just feel bad.” Shoko’s voice catches your attention. You notice her shoving a tomato in her salad bowl around with her fork.
“What’s wrong?” you ask her, taking a bite of your sandwich.
“A lot of the students here won’t be able to go home for the holidays, and some just don't have family to return to if they wanted.” She lets out a long sigh.
“It’s not just the students.” Satoru continues. “I know neither of you are going home, and I’m staying right here too.” His fingers drum on the table in thought.
“It’s rough. I really miss my family, Christmas was such a big thing for us” You pout, setting your sandwich down. Suddenly you don’t feel hungry anymore, the homesickness striking your stomach. While you were thankful you get to spend the holiday with your boyfriend, you still yearn for the comfort of home. You can feel Choso’s gaze on you without even looking at him.
“Who says we can’t celebrate Christmas with friends?” Choso asks quietly, chewing his food. Everyone turns to look at him. Noticing he has everyone’s attention, he freezes. “Did I say something wrong?” he asks quickly with pink tinted cheeks. Looking from Satoru, Shoko then finally to you.
“No! That's a great idea Cho!” You exclaim, throwing your arms around him in a hug.
“Yeah, I can’t believe I didn’t think of that. Let's throw a party! And do something nice for the students too!” Satoru jumps up from his seat and yells.
“Great idea, we are practically all family here anyway” Shoko gives a small smile.
“I'll host it at my house!” You offer, excited to have everyone over and celebrating with you. This will fill the void of missing home.
At the end of the day, all the staff and students who are staying home this holiday gather in one room. You and Satoru seem to have the most excitement out of anyone here, explaining the plans quickly and watching the smiles grow on the student’s faces.
“And no presents, just show up and have a good time with everyone” You tell them, not wanting the students to have to spend a dime. You and the rest of the staff will have everything covered, you just want everyone to enjoy each other's company. The way the holidays should be spent.
And you will do everything in your power to make sure they have the perfect Christmas.
“But what if we did secret santa?” Nobara questions, hand on her hip as she looks directly at you. Yuji stands next to her shaking his head vigorously in agreement.
“Great idea!” Satoru chimes in before you have a chance to respond. You have to admit it’s not a bad idea. As long as everyone keeps it simple and no one goes overboard, it should be fine.
“Sure, we can do secret santa. But no other gifts! And keep it under 25 dollars” you explain as Shoko passes around a slip of paper for everyone to write their name on and a few ideas of things they want.
“Um…what’s secret santa?” Choso whispers in your ear so only you can hear, likely embarrassed by yet another holiday activity he doesn’t understand.
“It’s kinda like a gift giving game” you start to explain, writing your name on the paper. “You will randomly get assigned a person to bring a gift for, but you have to keep it a surprise. Don’t let them know it’s you though.” He nods his head then starts to scribble his name on this slip of paper. Satoru then collects everyone’s and puts them inside a cowboy hat (why he had that in his office, no one knows). He walks around and holds the hat out for everyone to draw a name.
You reach inside, feeling around and plucking out a paper between two fingers. Opening it, you see the neat letters spelling out NOBARA inside. Along with a lengthy list of items she wants.
Choso reaches in next, dark brows drawn together as he focuses. It’s almost as if picking out the paper slip was more important than any mission he’s ever been sent on. Finally, he picks one. Pulling it out and slowly unfolding the note. You watch as he reads the name, a wide toothy grin spreads across his face.
Wonder who he pulled?

December 16th
With Christmas barely over a week away you have been spending much of your free time preparing your home. Dusting every nook and cranny, polishing the windows until they were shinier than the north star. It was a bit excessive, but it was the first time you would have everyone from the school in your house all at once. You needed it to be perfect.
All that's left to do is decorate. Red and green totes sit in the living room unopened. All filled with Christmas decorations your parent’s sent with you when you moved. You haven't even peeked inside, no clue what sort of things they may have given you. You were waiting on Choso and Yuji to come back, that way the three of you could decorate together.
You forgot that this is also Yuji’s first Christmas with his big brother, you needed to share. The two of them need time to create their own special memories. Which is why today, you sent the pair on a mission. A mission to find and bring home the perfect tree from the Christmas tree farm. Even though Choso still thinks it's a bit ridiculous to bring nature inside.
While today wasn't particularly snowy, it was still chilly. Hopefully they won’t come back as two human popsicles. You stand at the stove stirring a pot of chocolate and milk, watching the ingredients swirl together. Preparing a sweet surprise to warm them up when they return. You also prepared the fireplace for them to thaw their frozen fingers.
As you finish the hot chocolate and pour it into three mugs, the front door opens. The brothers carry the tree in together, then lean it against the wall so they can take their boots and coats off. As Choso peels off his layers, he reveals the purple knitted sweater underneath. The one your mom sent as an early present for him, a little too small as it clings to his sculpted muscles. It makes you smile to see him wearing the handmade gift.
“Hot chocolate!?” Yuji exclaims as he runs over to you, your hands extended out with a mug for each of them. You nod, and Yuji takes it. Eagerly taking the first sip and letting out a relieved sigh. Choso walks up to you, taking the mug from your hands and wrapping his fingers around it.
“Thank you” he whispers, pressing his icy nose to your cheek to nuzzle against your warm skin. Even with his still frozen body, you can feel the warmth of his happy smile radiate on you. He takes the first sip, a low hum as he savors the taste. “Mmmm…this is really good”
Once the boys were thoroughly warmed up, it was time to begin decorating. They set the tree up in the corner, a beautiful blue spruce. Its large triangle shape fits perfectly in the spot you picked out for it.
“What do you think?” Yuji asks you, taking a step back as he admires their tree. Choso still adjusting it so it stands the way he invisions.
“It's perfect, the best Christmas tree I’ve ever seen.” You smile at the pink-haired boy.
“Choso picked it out. He saw this one and said ‘it’’s the one’” Yuji imitates his brother’s deep voice as he copies his words. Choso overhears and quickly looks away, pretending to still be busy with situating the already perfect looking tree. The tips of his ears turning pink.
You leave the boys to decorate the tree, letting them rummage through the boxes of Christmas ornaments and fumble with the tangled string of lights. The two of them smile and laugh amongst themselves as they work. An occasional cuss as they poke their finger on a needle.
A Christmas playlist emanating from the speakers. You sing along as you put up the other decorations. Hanging up garland and strings of dried oranges in the hallways, lights in the window and wreaths on the door. Three stockings hung up on the fireplace, your name along with Choso and Yuji’s printed on the front. Even though you three agreed to no presents, that wouldn’t stop you from filling their stockings to the brim. You already planned to spoil them with their favorite snacks and other things they enjoy.
A surprised gasp from Choso catches your attention, you rush over to him and see him cradling a small ornament in his hands. Looking down at it with a big smile.
“What is it?” You ask, trying to catch a glimpse of what he's holding so delicately, but he moves, holding the ornament out of view as he continues to stare with a big goofy grin.
“Babe…” He trails off, his eyes looking from the ornament then to you. “Is this you?” He finally turns it around to show you. A printed baby picture of you inside a snowman shaped frame, you weren't even a year old yet. Red letters at the bottom have your birth year and ‘First Christmas’ written on it.
“That is so embarrassing” you mumble, honestly you thought your parents would have kept that for their own tree instead of sending it with you. “You don’t have to put it on the tree.” You try to swipe it out of his hand but he holds it up higher.
“Nu uh. This is so cute. It’s definitely going on.” He steps away from your reaching arms and hangs it up high, admiring your baby face with a smile.
Once all the ornaments are hung, you plug in the lights strung around it. The three of you standing back to admire it. Twinkling brightly in the corner of the room. Choso stands in the middle, wrapping an arm around you and Yuji. His two favorite people in the world.
“It’s beautiful” You smile as you gaze on the most perfect Christmas tree you ever set eyes on, the star shining brightly at the top.
“Yeah” Is all Choso manages to say, though his eyes are on you instead of the tree.
After a moment of silence, Yuji speaks up.
“Let's take a picture together!”

December 24th
Christmas eve is here and everything for the party is ready for tomorrow. You felt like a little kid who couldn't wait until morning to see what Santa brought. To make things more exciting, Choso decided to stay the night tonight. He said Christmas morning wouldn’t feel right if he didn't wake up with his family.
Yuji had also planned to stay the night, but decided at the last minute to have a sleepover with Megumi and the other students instead. You could tell Choso wanted to tell him no, but let him anyway. He can never deny his brother anything. Plus, Yuji promised to be here first thing in the morning.
You and the other staff decided to each make a dish for the party, you and Choso getting assigned dessert duty. Tonight, the two of you planned to bake gingerbread cookies together. All the ingredients are laid out on the counter as you reach for two aprons. You tie one around yourself first, then grab the other and turn to Choso who is standing in the kitchen watching you with a way too serious look. You throw the loop around his head then move behind him, reaching your hands around his waist to tie the strings in a neat little bow.
“I look ridiculous” he grumbles, his fingers tugging at the slightly frilly ends.
“No, you look cute” You wrap your arms around him in a hug, chest pressed against his back.
“Are you sure this is necessary?” He asks, looking over his shoulder at you with uncertinty.
“Yup. Don’t want your clothes to get dirty.” The clothes could easily be washed after, you know this. But seeing Choso in the pink and frilly apron just makes your heart flutter.
“Whatever.” He sighs, leaning into your hug and relaxing a bit.
The two of you work away at making the cookies. Holding a hand mixer, you mix the molasses into the batter. The thick and sticky substance dancing around the bow with the other ingredients.
“Next we need the flour mixture, can you add that, Cho?” With the mixer still in hand, you angle your head toward the glass bowl containing the flour and mixed in spices. He nods and reaches for it, tilting the bowl to pour it into the one you're stirring. A little too fast it seems as a puff of powdery smoke hits you right in the face.
“Too fast Choso!” you cough out the flour as you slow the mixer to a stop. He laughs and grabs your chin gently with his fingers, turning you to look at him. The thumb on his other hand wipes away the flour clinging to your face.
“Sorry” He struggles to stop his laughter as he cleans your face off.
Once the dough is complete, Choso uses the rolling pin to flatten it. His forearm muscles flexing as he rolls it out. The two of you cut out the gingerbread and place them on a cookie sheet, into the oven they go. The fragrant smell of cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg wafting through the air as they bake.
In the meantime, you prepare the icing. Whisking together milk and powdered sugar to create frosting thick enough to pipe. You set the whisk into the sink, only turning your back for a moment but when you look back you caught Choso red handed. His finger in the bowl as he scoops out a glob, then quickly pops the finger in his mouth to taste the sweet icing. He doesn't realize you were watching and his finger darts back in for a second taste.
“Hey!” you smack his hand before it makes contact for the frosting. His face turns red as he gives you a sheepish smile, caught in the act. “Save some for the cookies Cho!” you laugh.
With the cookies now cool, the two of you begin to decorate. Piping eyes and cute little smiles on their gingerbread faces. Adding hearts as buttons. You had to admit, they were looking so cute. Looking over at Choso, who has remained quiet for some time, you notice the intense concentration on his face as he decorates. His eyes narrowed and brows furrowed as his hand delicately squeezed the piping bag. You want to ask what he's creating but you are afraid of breaking his focus and messing him up.
“Look” he finally says, turning the cookie around to reveal his masterpiece. It was a cookie version of Yuji! An almost perfect replica. Complete with his spiky hair and school uniform. Even a crack in the cookie to replicate the scar over his eyebrow.
“Wow! That's so amazing, I had no clue you were an artist Choso.” You exclaim with a smile.
“Thanks” he says shyly, setting cookie Yuji with the rest of your completed cookies. He picks up the next one, his focus returning as he creates more. Probably wanting to make Megumi and Nobara too.
You grab another blank cookie, an idea forming in your brain. Using the icing as glue, you stick together matching spikes crafted from cookie scraps on either side of the gingerbread man’s head. Choso is off in his own world, not even paying attention. Leaving you to work on your creation unquestioned. You carefully piped the icing, occasionally looking up to glance at your muse across the table. Once you finished, you turned it over to show him.
“Choso, look what I made” you say to get his attention, his eyes widen as they scan the details of the cookie. The line across the face, the twin pigtails.
“You made…me?” he says surprised, pointing at himself.
“Yes” You smile, and watch as he unveils his most recent creation to you. Your own cookie mini-me. Every detail was placed with care, and you have to admit, he did a great job replicating you.
Once all the cookies were decorated to the nines and the kitchen cleaned, the two of you started to unwind in bed, yet another Christmas movie playing on the TV. Changed into a pair of matching pajamas. Red fleece with a pattern of tiny snowflakes and snowmen. It was kinda cheesy, but you wanted Choso to experience the full Christmas morning experience. To your surprise, he absolutely loved the idea of wearing matching pjs with you.
Cozy and warm, Choso drifts to sleep under the mountain of blankets before reaching the halfway point of the movie. A peaceful expression on his face, leaving you to wonder if visions of sugar-plums danced in his head.
As quiet as a mouse, you crept out of bed. Grabbing the items hidden away in the closet and walking out to the living room. There by the fireplace, three stockings hung with care. You fill Yuji’s with his favorite snacks and a couple gift cards. Inside of Choso’s you place the same, but with the addition of one extra special wrapped gift.
You can’t wait to see the look on his face when he opens it tomorrow.

December 25th
“Wake up!” Choso’s excited voice jolts you awake, peeling open your sleepy eyelids. He has you caged under him, a giant smile plastered to his face and his bed hair falling messily around him. Like a child waking up their parents on Christmas morning. “Good morning sleepy head” He coos, bending his head down to pepper your cheek in kisses.
“Good morning Cho” you say groggily, stretching your arms out.
“You gotta get up! It’s Christmas!” He pokes your cheek a few times, like it’s a button that will make you move faster. As he looks down on you with his charming smile, you can’t help but smile back. His happiness is infectious. It’s hard to believe that 25 days ago, this man didn’t have a clue what Christmas was. Now look at him.
“Okay okay, get off me so I can get up” You laugh, he immediately steps off the bed and holds a hand out for you. You place your hand in his palm as he hoists you up and out, pulling you into his chest and wrapping you in a tight hug.
“Merry Christmas, love” he murmurs onto the top of your head..
“Merry Christmas” You echo, savouring the warmth of his hug.
“Come on! I have a surprise for you!” He breaks the hug and reaches for your hand, dragging you out of the bedroom. He pulls you past the illuminated tree and into the kitchen. The smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls fills the air. The smell transports you back to your childhood, your mother always would bake a batch of cinnamon rolls with orange glaze every Christmas morning. But that was something you never mentioned, Choso couldn't have possibly known that. Right?
He hands you a plate with a large cinnamon roll, your mouth watering. You don’t even wait to sit down for the first bite, fingers sticky with icing as you lift it to your lips. Teeth sinking into the still warm baked good. The sweet flavors coat your palette, and somehow they tasted exactly like your Mom’s famous treats. Her secret recipe that she refused to pass onto anyone, not even you.
“Choso…” you trail off, setting the cinnamon roll down on the plate and turning your gaze to his. He watches you full of pride and love. “How..” you start to ask, wanting to know how on earth he knew to make these, but he cuts you off.
“Come on” he says, one hand on your shoulder as he leads you over to the dining table. Your laptop propped open in front of two chairs. The second you can view the screen, you see them. Your parents.
“Merry Christmas honey!” they exclaim as you take a seat in front of them. A few tears spilling from your eye you didn't know were forming.
This was Choso’s big surprise. Ever so observant, he saw how much you were missing home and how much you wanted to see your family. He set the whole morning up, with help from your mom of course. He wanted you to be able to eat breakfast with your family just like you used to, no matter how far away they were.
His mom even taught him how to make her cinnamon rolls you loved so much, that way all of you could enjoy the same breakfast at the same time. Separated by a computer screen that felt barely there in the moment. It was like you teleported back home, eating with the family again.
After breakfast, it was Choso’s turn to get emotional.
The two of you sit on the floor in front of the Chtistmas tree, feeling like two little kids digging through your stockings. You were surprised to see he filled yours as well. Candy and your favorite collectable trinkets. He digs through his, making sure to mutter a ‘thank you’ for every little item he finds inside.
He pulls out the last item, the small wrapped box you placed inside last night. He holds it up, tossing a skeptical look your way.
“Thought we agreed to no presents?” he asks.
“I think it’s a bit too late for that.” you point to the contents from both of your stockings. He says nothing in response, knowing you're right. Neither of you ever had any intention of following the ‘no presents’ rule. “Just open it” you urge him.
His fingers slowly pull on the delicate ribbon until it falls away, then ripping away the wrapping paper. A small red box inside. He lifts off the lid and he stops. Momentarily stunned as he stares at the contents inside. Then, the waterworks start. Drops slipping from his eyes as he holds up the small ornament.
“Thank you! I love it.” he sniffles, wiping away the ever falling tears. You found the small snowman ornament online, one that was identical to yours and able to hold a picture inside. Inside the frame was a picture of you and Choso, standing in front of the freshly decorated tree. Your hand writing at the bottom saying ‘our first Christmas’ in red.
Your intention wasn't to make him cry, and you almost felt bad seeing him in this blubbering state. But your worries melt away as he pulls you in close, burying his face into the crook of your neck until the tears slow. He was always such a big softie, even though he pretends not to be.
“Thank you, this means so much to me” he whispers once he's calmed back down. Standing up to place his gift on the tree next to your matching first Christmas ornament.
Later that evening, the party is in full swing. Yuji and Nobara each with an arm linked around a grumpy Megumi, matching sweaters on the three of them. Maki and Yuta watch as Toge and Panda dance wildly to Rockin’ around the Christmas tree. Shoko scolds a tummy-aching Satoru for eating too many sweets after dinner.
Dinner was phenomenal, it was so fun to get everyone together in one place for a feast. A wide variety of food brought by the other staff, enough for everyone to get their fill and then some. You couldn’t believe how full you were, and judging by the look on your boyfriend’s face, he may have overindulged too. Even with the full bellies, everyone was excited to find the cookie versions of themself that Choso created.
Sitting in the living room, everyone starts to find their secret santa gifts. You watch as Nobara opens the one from you. Her eyes lighting up as she pulls out the tube of lipgloss. It’s from a brand she hasn't stopped talking about for the past four weeks. Yes, it may have been a tiny bit over the 25 dollar budget you set, but you wanted to splurge on your students. Nobara says a thousand thank yous as she applies it immediately, the color looking perfect on her.
You open your gift next, a large box with blue snowflake wrapping paper. Inside, it was filled to the brim with all sorts of candy. Many from luxury brands you have never heard of. While it wasn’t exactly what you wanted, you are still thankful. You are also excited to try the fancy chocolate bar with a name you can't pronounce. You know exactly who this is from, you spot the white haired sorcerer who is mouthing ‘you're welcome’ in your direction with a smirk.
Yuji opens his, pulling out a shirt with the letters spelling out ‘#1 LITTLE BROTHER’ across the front. Plastered on the back is a picture of him and Choso together, both making equally silly faces. Yuji breaks out in laughter as he holds the shirt up to show it off.
“Oh! I wonder who my secret santa could be!” He says sarcastically, smiling at his older brother.
It’s ironic really, as Choso pulls out his present. A red mug with the words ‘#1 BIG BROTHER’ across the side. Of course those two would get each other.
As the party starts to wind down, Choso stands up and waves a hand, beckoning you to follow him down the hall. You excuse yourself from the conversation with Shoko and trail after him. He stands in the middle of the hallway, the sounds of laughter getting fainter as you join him.
“I have one more gift for you” He whispers, pulling a small rectangle box behind his back. It’s beautifully wrapped, the paper resembling the bark from a birch tree. A neat green ribbon tying it together.
“You shouldn't have” You murmur, taking the gift from his hands. A small smirk tugs at the corner of his lips.
“Well…I wanted to.” He waits for you to open it. Part of you doesn’t want to disturb the expertly wrapped paper, the other part is dying to know what's inside. You tear it open, revealing a velvet black box. You hinge open the lid, inside is a pretty silver necklace. The charm at the end is a teardrop shaped gem, your birthstone.
“It’s so pretty” You say as you lift it out of the box, dangling the pendent in front of you. Your eyes catching on the way the gem dances in the light. “Put it on me?” you ask, holding it out for him. He takes it from you as you turn around, wrapping the chain around and gently securing the clasp, his breath hot on your neck. You turn back to face him, adjusting how the charm sits against your neck.
“How does it look?” You ask, he eyes you up and down.
“Beautiful, it looks amazing on you. I knew it would.” He smiles softly, taking a step closer, a hand placing itself on the small of your back. You suddenly feel a little guilty. The necklace seemed expensive, and you didn’t get him much in return. Just some treats and the Christmas ornament.
“Choso…I wish I would have gotten you something more in return.” you frown, but he just shakes his head.
“No, I don’t need fancy things. Besides, you already gave me the best present of all. You gave me the gift of Christmas. And I spent the whole day…no, the whole month, making precious memories with you. What more could I ask for?” His words touch your soul, burning hotter than the warmest summer day.
“Look up,” he says suddenly, pointing toward the ceiling with the hand not on your back. A small bundle of green leaves and white berries hang, tied together with a red bow. Mistletoe. You didn’t put this here when you were decorating, it must have been his doing.
“Did you do this?” you laugh looking into his eyes. He nods.
“When I was studying Christmas stuff...” he trails off sheepishly, his cheeks turning pink. “I read that this is a symbol of love. You know what people do under the mistletoe, right?” He asks, his eyes traveling to your lips as they curve in a smile.
“Yes, I know,” You say, wrapping your hands around his neck. One hand cradling the back of his head as you pull him closer. He keeps his hand pressed to your back while the other cups your cheek, his thumb stoking your soft skin as his lips close the distance. His lips moving against yours in a sweet and tender kiss. Pouring all of his burning love into the moment.
He pulls back, hooded eyes roaming your face. Hot breath as he whispers your name.
“I love you” He whispers against your lips before he goes in for another kiss. “I’ll always love you”

synopsis: stumbling in a random field, the gods have granted you the luxury of discovering a rare peach tree and it's all yours for the takings. at least that's what you're mistaken to think before you're confronted by the king of curses himself. coming close to death, you're forbidden to ever return.
it's just a shame you're incapable of listening to rules.
part one | part three | bonus scene
Part 2: Committing the sin
“...And I told him to stick his peaches where the sun doesn’t shine.”
“And then what?!”
“Well, he was so shocked that I spoke to him in that manner and his jaw fell wide open. Then I told him that I wasn’t scared of him and informed him that the tree was public property.”
“What did he say back?” Multiple sets of eyes peer into your face with eagerness and pure excitement.
You pause for a moment –  for dramatic effect. With a deep breath, you speak again.
“He said, ‘do you not care for your life?’
“What did you say back?! What did you tell him?!” A dark haired child rose in front of you, his eyes wide.
“I said I wouldn’t regret dying after tasting those appetizing peaches, so if he killed me right there and  then I would nonetheless be happy and satisfied.”
The children sit in a small circle around you, some expressing their glee aloud as their faces were filled with awe of your encounter with the king of curses.
“I squared up to him, unafraid to fight and he walked away first.” You let out a laugh. “His tail was between his legs like a dog,  I doubt he’ll ever come back to that tree!”
“Does he actually have a tail?” a child asked.
“I thought he had 6 arms.” another child spoke, curiosity filling their tone.
“I thought he had 9?!”
“No, there was no tail. The king of curses only has 4 arms and really ugly eyes.”
“How many?”
“Four!” You reply and you giggle as the children shudder. “All the better to see you with, I think. Very scary.”
One child says, “I don’t ever want to see him!”
“He’s a monster!” Another spoke.
“Well, you won’t ever meet the monster if you all promise to obey your parents and not misbehave?”
They nod diligently, hanging onto your every word. One by one they disperse, breaking off into their own stories about the king of curses now based on the new information you had told.
Among them, your eyes fell upon Miko. She stood alone, waiting for the others to drift away before speaking. You’ve known her to be the shyest girl in the village, with the other kids she doesn’t seem to speak or interact. You usually find her off on her own in the corner, playing on her own in a corner.
Recently, you’ve taken her under your wing. Whilst her parents work away in the village, you made sure that not all of her hours are spent entirely alone. Interacting with her, you take her along with you on your errands or play along with her games. Even in your company she’s still a quiet kid but you don’t mind as long as she has someone to be with.
She waits until the majority of children have gone, their conversation too loud to overhear her question. It slips out so quietly you almost think you’ve missed it but you manage to read her lips.
“Can you get me one?” Miko looks down at her sandals, shy and timid.
You hum, wanting to know what she’s referring to.
“A peach.” She speaks again, her small lips moving. Again her voice is quiet and her eyes are glued to the ground. “Could you get me one?”
Your heart yearns at the sight. You knew all too well that her family doesn’t have much. They barely manage to get the bare necessities monthly, so the simple act of indulging in the taste of a sweet ripe peach wouldn’t just be a luxury but equate to rich reward for her entire family and their hard work.
Crouching, you meet her eyes.
“If you’re not scared of the king of curses could you do it?” She mumbles. “If you’re sure that he won’t come back.”
A small part of you hesitates, maybe your exaggeration went too far. The truth of the story weighs heavy in your gut and a part of you considers confessing your dishonesty. But just one glimpse into Miko’s warm coffee eyes and you melt again. You couldn’t break her heart and say no. It would kill you.
Your gut churns as you mull over your answer.
There was no part in your body capable of telling her ‘no’ so the corners of your lips flip up into a smile.
“Of course, I can.”
/
The king of curses is away at battle. For the next two weeks to be presumed.
Him and his army traveled past the village, heading down with their carts and horses. Obviously, you weren’t present and chose to  hide away to watch from afar. Even from a large distance you couldn’t help but feel his presence, his overwhelming aura seeping into every crevice of your skin.
But at least now you had your chance.
Just one week after his departure, you gained up the courage to return to the forbidden peach tree. You’d hope no one would be present at the estate, perhaps a few servants here and there, but you doubt they would commit to the long walk to the edge of the estate for a mere peach tree.
With a large basket in hand, you set out as early as you could, the sunrise warming up your cheeks. Rays of orange and red mix in the sky, the sunlight fixing its spot in the blue summer sky.
You retrace your steps you had previously taken a few weeks prior, straying away from the original path. Again, the grass blades tickle at your ankles. Certain that the king of curses has disappeared, you take your time through the field watching as different species of birds fly over your head and how the bees keep obedient to their flowers, collecting their sweet nectar.
Soon the shadow of the tree comes into view.
At first glance it seems to be unchanged, however a new difference you picked up on is the range of new peaches available. With adrenaline running, you don’t hesitate to pluck the peaches, multiple at a time. In a span of five minutes your basket is already half full, emerging from your task. You start with the peaches which are easier to reach before dealing with the dreadful task of resorting to your tippy toes.
Before you know it, your eyes are caught once upon a scarlet red peach, perfectly ripe and round. Of course you have to get it, this one would be especially for Miko you think.
The only problem which rose was that the peach was located on the highest branch, straining, it was only a few inches away from your fingertips.
“Almost—” you strain, your tongue pokes out the side of your mouth.
“Seems like insolent fools never learn.”
A rough voice echoes into the distance at the exact moment that you manage to pluck a peach from the highest branch.  At the sound of a gruff tone,  a shiver runs up your body and the peach falls from your hand, dropping to the grass and rolling away.
Just as you felt previously, a menacing aura came over you, washing over your body like a heavy tide. Your temperature drops and your mind freezes, his ever so familiar aura now hitting you like a slap to the face.
Of course, you turn to find the king of curses standing behind you. Tall and treacherous, you cower away, dropping to your knees.
He’s back. One week earlier than expected.
Bowing your head, your mind runs over the brutal image of his appearance. Blood stains over his body and skin, dry of course and scars litter his chest, shirtless in front of you.
“I thought I warned you to stay away, did I not?”
You clear your throat before speaking, your voice shakes. “You did, my lord.”
“So why did you not heed my warning? Do you wish death upon yourself?”
“No my lord, I-” you cut yourself off, searching for words which fail to leave your lips. Your hesitation and silence only seems to aggravate Sukuna.
“Speak.” He orders.
“I wanted to bring peaches back for the villagers.”
Sukuna doesn’t speak again. Trembling, you keep your eyes down onto the grass. He must be eyeing your basket right now.
You were definitely going to die. This was it. You had gotten away with it before and by the gods he was not going to let you leave alive again.
The king of curses wouldn’t make that same mistake twice.
Suddenly you find your chin in his palm and he forces you to look up at him. His eyes are cold and deadly. No ounce of human empathy or compassion lingers in his pupils.
“You wanted to bring some peaches back for the villagers.”
You nod, a quiet whisper leaving your lips. “Yes.”
“Pathetic.” He spat.
From then on you expected to feel some form of pain. You have heard multiple stories about his brutal killings, simply decapitating limbs of people without a single care. Some people say it’s best to be killed right away by the King of Curses rather than his cruel method of allowing his victims to bleed out and die slowly.
Your body freezes to expect a pinch of pain, a stab, a slice – anything, anything at all yet it doesn’t seem to hit you. Tilting your head upwards ever so slightly you notice a wound on the right side of his torso. . Blood, freshly red, drips down his side, staining his skin and clothes.
“You’re injured.” It comes out as a murmur, pathetic and weak.
Sukuna says nothing more as if he hadn’t heard you in the first place. You bow your head deeper, almost ashamed for pointing it out. Perhaps it would come across that you intercepted the King of curses as weak. A king having a deep wound is something that he wouldn’t want others to know.
But— you could still use it as some sort of excuse.
“It’ll get infected.” You speak again, gaining more confidence in your tone. “If you don’t clean it up soon.”
“I have taken care of it.” Sukuna speaks. “It’s just a scratch.“
You let out a scoff. “Barely, you’re bleeding out heavily.”
“What’s it to you? It has nothing to do with you.” He snaps, his tone rising.
“I have a speciality in helping people with wounds and illnesses. I could help you.” You raise your head slightly at your offer. You outstretch your hand towards his blood drenched clothes.
“I do not like to be touched, I will heal myself.”
You glance up at the king of curses, studying his face. For the first time you sense a feeling of exhaustion within Sukuna’s eyes, heavy lidded and tired. The king of curses was on the verge of passing out.
“I could help you–”
“I don’t need help from a thief.”
“A thief!?”
“The tree is on my property is it not?”
“I–”
“And this is the second time you have been caught stealing, correct?”
“My lord—”
“Correct?” His tone is rough, cutting you off with a sharpness that causes goosebumps to appear on your body.
You say nothing, looking down at your feet. You can feel his eyes bore into you. “Pathetic human.” He mumbles.
You swallow, saying nothing more. Your hands turn into fists by your side. Just from your expression and energy Sukuna  feels your growing anger with every second that passes.
All of a sudden, the band snaps and you can’t hold in your emotions anymore. The next time you speak, you refuse to cover up your venomous tone.
“And you’re just as pathetic as me if you can barely heal your own wound. You call yourself the king of curses for what?”
A silence comes after your words, not even the sound of rustling trees or tall grass can be heard. It takes no longer than a second for you to feel deep regret for your words. Similar to your first ever encounter with the king of curses, the fear of death looms upon you.
If you thought he wouldn’t kill you the first time then he definitely will now.
You await the moment for him to strike you. A pinch of pain, a slice, a beheading or even a stab to your stomach. Anything to disperse you as soon as possible.
Instead of a violent action, he chooses to speak again with a challenging invite.
“So how would you suggest you would heal me?”
Did you hear him right?
You stammer, words failing to leave your mouth. “To heal you?”
He stares at you in contempt, “You said you knew how to take care of wounds, do you not?”
“I do.”
“So…?” Sukuna raises a brow.
Your mind searches for a solution, malfunctioning under his venomous gaze.
There’s a stream nearby, I could guide you to it so you can clean it.”
A pause.
“Where is this stream you think of?”
“Over there.” You point behind him.
“So be it.” He speaks in a gruff tone. “Lead the way”
You manage to get your feet whilst succumbing to a daze.
How have you managed to escape the punishment of death a second time from the King of curses?
Glancing behind you, the basket of peaches tempts you. There would be no point in taking it and running, you knew that he could kill you in an instant. The plump peaches would have to wait, for now you have to focus on surviving Sukuna.
You leave the basket behind.

I’ve been thinking more about this again….
More leader-specific stuff:
Oakstar. Frecklewish and Birchface could have been his children still, but in secret; ThunderClan only saw Oakstar’s grief for Birchface’s death as a leader mourning a friend and deputy, not a father mourning a son. Ravenwing could have known, however, hence why Oakstar trusted him.
Off of that branch (heh): Pinestar. Could also have been sired by Oakstar in secret. (Oakstar isn’t getting into kitty cat heaven, not only because he’s a horrible awful person, but also because he broke his vow as leader at least twice) I truthfully don’t see Pinestar breaking his vows in his youth… But as an older tom, when his faith in StarClan has been tested, when his strength has been sapped, and when his loyalty to the Clans has been strained..? When a bright-eyed young molly comes to her leader asking if he had heard of any toms willing to sire a litter without being involved? Perhaps he saw it as a final “fuck you” to StarClan … and a final service to ThunderClan before he left.
Onestar siring Darktail is even more dramatic. (Also no more WhiteOne romance because it’s ew any way you slice it)
I wonder how SkyClan would see these laws…
Squirrelstar couldn’t happen, point blank. No matter how you finagle the timeline… I wonder who would replace her as leader, then…
Bramblestar also couldn’t happen! Which YIPPEE
I imagine that, rather than Moth Flight invoking this law, it would be Wind Runner. Windstar, who lost a kit too young, Dying Embers, she was named… Who shunned her other children for fear of growing too close and feeling that pain again. Who saw Clear Sky’s treatment of Thunder, his messy affairs with Star Flower. Who saw River Ripple’s love spread across so many, like a spider’s web. Who saw her grandchildren by Moth Flight split amongst the young Clans. Who saw Gray Wing’s death strike them all so hard. Who watched Tall Shadow become a shadow of herself, in turn, after her brother and nephew’s deaths… Family is too hard on the heart, she would decree. Too taxing on the mind and the body of those meant to lead. Cut those ties before they have a chance to grow, and the Clans would be better for it. And in the wake of so much death and personal loss, few other leaders would be included to disagree…
Some world building and additional lore from outside perspectives…
ThunderClan who really did perform raids on Twolegplace, to steal kittens in order to raise them as loyal warriors with no other blood ties. This would offer them more options for leader, as well as to keep their genetics clean.
Kittypets who are viewed in an especially odd light because of how huge their litters are known to be. Six at a time, sometimes! What great damage to be done to a Clan’s delicate bloodline system…
Unfortunately no more “queens have a right to withhold the sire of their litter” law, as interesting as it is and how much I wish it would be utilized more in canon. Not having a litter’s full bloodline available would cast a lot of nervousness and doubt across a Clan. Lots of what ifs floated around.
The Clans being widely viewed as odd for how much stock they put into their familial bonds, when most toms outside of the Clans don’t typically get involved with their litters and/or just get purposefully run off… Yet another angle there for the Clans to be looked upon as weird and intense for how they track their ancestry, as well.
Maybe even a new role being made specifically to keep track of bloodlines and names… Like a geneaologist. Maybe they could call them an “archivist” or “blood-tracer” orrrr something… The role would go to cats with exceptional memory. Maybe even a few new suffixes could crop up to note a cat’s memory! I wonder what they’d be…
Thinking about one of my older WC aus again… I’ve finally got a name for it: the Kinless Leaders au
In which I realized that it makes way more sense for the leaders in Warriors to be put under the “cannot have mates or kits” rule rather than healers…
Leaders are far more ingrained in politics and diplomacy than healers are. They’re the only non-healer, as well, who are known to have steady contact with StarClan, and have recieved a grand gift (nine lives) from their ancestors. Literally touched by the stars. They’d need to be “pure”, and completely unhindered by emotional or physical attachments (that being: immediate family, romantic attachments, and kits) that could cloud their judgement when it comes to the good of the whole Clan.
They’re allowed friends — to a degree. Deputies, and successors, would be chosen only if they have no immediate family to speak of, and can prove throughout their assisting reign to have the fortitude to not become a mate or parent. If a leader does have kits, they are to be immediately deposed, for they have lost their Clan’s trust, their connection to StarClan + their ancestor’s trust, and broken their vows. They are more likely now to jump to defend their kin in the face of political unrest, as well.
It would just make more sense, thematically, if this were the case… And provide way more drama. Like, so much more.
Thistleclaw could still have courted Snowfur and sired Whitestorm, but would have broken her heart and requested she invoke Queen’s Rights and not name a father — which could have led to Bluefur’s distaste for him, because of course her sister would have confided in her.
Bluefur could have been pregnant at the time Goosefeather told her of the prophecy, and warned her of Thistleclaw’s bloodthirsty intentions. By that time, Snowfur would have been dead, and we could just kill off Stormtail a bit earlier. Hence why she had to give up her kits, albeit far earlier, to secure her place as leader.
Tigerclaw wouldn’t have sired Goldenflower or Sasha’s kits. But kittens raised without an obvious father, especially when Sasha was a kittypet and Goldenflower’s first mate for her first litter was rumored to be a loner, would be far more easy to manipulate and guide under one’s wing. He could have offered Tawnypelt a place in ShadowClan under him for the same reasons as canon, and could have coaxed both Brambleclaw and Hawkfrost into the Dark Forest after his death regardless.
Crookedstar’s life now becomes ever-sadder, as he fell in love with Willowbreeze, who reciprocated, but could only be with her in secret. Then she and most of their kits die, leading him to believe it is a sign, and offer his only surviving kit to his estranged brother to take into his own mysteriously-born litter.
No more “Half of ThunderClan being direct Firestar descendants”, because Firestar now cannot have kits. Perhaps Squirrelflight and Leafpool were still his, however… Perhaps ThunderClan’s bright brand of fire isn’t as perfect as many believe.
Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight were mates and raised a family, however the argument of “they’re not really yours, so is it alright to step into leadership?” could be made in a society that values their leader’s purity…
Idk. Much angst. Many intrigue. It’s a personal favorite au of mine ^^

Summary: You are given the chance to pursue your own happiness with the one you love.
Read it on AO3!
Tumblr media
“It really is unconventional my dear.” Your mother clucked her tongue at you before blowing on her steaming tea and taking a careful sip. You took a deep breath to keep your composure. It took nearly all your courage just to speak the words you had been sitting on for months at this point, and you had been prepared for a far harsher response. You gently swirled your spoon in your own tea cup, watching as the sugar cube melted away. You hated this blend, but it was Mother’s favorite and you needed any help to get her in a good mood.
Your father says nothing, simply watching you with a stoic expression. His tea cup sits full and untouched.
“I am…aware, of how odd it is-” Mother scoffs at your words.
“If you are so aware, why even entertain the idea? Honestly child.” She rolls her eyes at you. You bite your tongue, and take another deep breath.
“I simply think after all he’s done for us, for me, that he would be a good choice,” Another scoff. “And that he would…” make me happy, you want to say but don’t. Mother didn’t care about things like happiness in marriage. Marriage was a tool in a royal’s arsenal, like anything else.
“Oh yes, everything he’s done for us, and every neighboring kingdom from here to the coast! The man has no loyalty! He would sooner give up the crown to an invader than fight them! He has too many ties to too many people.”
“That isn’t true!” Mother narrows her eyes at your raised voice. You stiffen and look to your lap in a show of submission. “I-I am sorry. I just…”
“It is a foolish idea.” Mother takes another sip of her tea, opening her mouth to further admonish you for your proposal, but your father speaks.
“I disagree.” He rumbles. Mother closes her mouth with a sharp ‘click’. Your father may be content to let her rule the castle, the staff, and you as she sees fit, but every once in a small while he steps in. Those few times are almost enough to convince you he may care for you in some way.
“Father?” You prompt.
“He was born here. He trained here under my own father’s best knights. He has helped our neighbors as his warrior spirit demanded, but never to our detriment. Now that he can no longer fight the same way, why not reward him for his servitude?” Father blinks passively at Mother, the wisdom of many years of leadership in his eyes. Mother looks at him in shock, her own protests sounding weak now that she doesn’t have his support.
“Bu-I-! He is-! Why, he is too old now my lord husband! He-”
“He is as old as I am, and that brings wisdom and experience.”
“Wh-what of heirs!? He could never-with our daughter-!”
“Men older than us both have produced children before. It will be fine.”
Mother looks like she wants to protest further still, but you don’t pay her stuttered words any more mind. You stare at your father, a man you have spent most of your life fearing in some capacity. Fear of failure and disappointment, fear of losing him and leaving your home in disarray with no king to lead them.
Fear of being married off to some horrible man that would decide your fate, who would crush and break you under the weight of unwanted motherhood and wifely duties you would have no choice but to complete. Of one day suffering the quiet shame of having a husband who brings strangers to bed, of being an object meant to look pretty and nothing more.
And within this moment you dare hope that your life will not be as sad and grey.
Father looks at you and nods his head. You stand, your fingers twitching with the effort to hold back your excitement. Never before have you so badly wanted to hug Father, but you refrain. It would be improper, Mother has always said. You bow low instead to show your gratitude.
“Th-thank you Father. Mother. I must-...I need to step out for a moment, please excuse me.” And with that you rush out the door to the private study and nearly collapse against the stone wall opposite you. The cool, rough texture against your palms and catching the fabric of your gown helps ground you.
This is real.
You can-you can marry the man you love. Bring him into a life of luxury and happiness you’ve wanted to give him for so long-
The click of the door behind you opening and closing echoes in your pounding head. With hazy eyes you look to see Father standing behind you, proud and tall as ever. He is smiling softly at you, a gentleness you didn’t think he possessed. It's an odd but not unpleasant expression to see on his face.
“I…” He starts, lifting a hand into the air and holding it there, fingers pinched. With a sigh he drops his hand back to his side, looking to the floor.
“With age comes wisdom.” He begins. “I regret many things when it comes to how you were raised.” You blink in shock at his words. You can see in his face…a quiet longing you hadn’t noticed before. It makes something in your heart squeeze.
“I wish…I wish I had been…” He sighs, his shoulders slumping as he looks to you. “I had you trained and molded to take charge of the kingdom after my passing, consort or no. I made sure you knew every battle tactic, every political game, every form of self defense I could cram into you to make sure you could be safe. I just wish I could have taken the time to…let you be you. To be my daughter, not just my heir. I wish I could have gotten to know you.”
The back of your eyes burn. You swallow and blink. You cannot show such clear emotion, not to anyone.
Well…to one person and one person only.
That person is not Father.
“I married your mother because of the things she could teach you, the benefits she brought to our home.” Father steps closer to you. His arms lift, as if to reach for you. He freezes, hands shaking before he forces them down to his sides again. “I wish to give you a chance to be happy. If only in some small way. A way I never got to experience. Go to him, and you will be happy with him, I’m sure.”
Father has taken time out of his day to meet with you, to hear your proposal. He agreed to your proposal and gave you his blessing for the man you chose. He is standing before you and restraining himself from giving you a hug.
You take the final step to close the distance between you both, and your stiff arms wrap around his even stiffer form. You feel his hands slowly and carefully come to your back and rest there.
It is awkward and stiff and slightly uncomfortable.
It is the first hug you’ve ever received from Father.
You will cherish its memory for the rest of your life. He has made you happier on this day than you have ever felt.
Well, perhaps not happier than the day you met your fearsome and brave knight. It is close, however.
“Thank you Father. If it is acceptable, I wish to go see him.” Father’s arms drop from you as you step back, and he nods his head. You turn and rush down the hall.
~~~~~~~
You ignore the whispers that trail after you as you hunt through the castle hallways.
“Ah, her royal highness the cold fish. Wonder what has her in such a hurry.”
“Her highness is moving rather fast, do you think something’s happened? She’s normally so stoic and cold.”
“Just like her father, that one. Unfeeling and scary.”
Their words sting, but you hold your head high. You had thought you had been getting better at interacting with the staff, but apparently not if they still gossip in such ways about you. Your knight had been trying to help you be more approachable and open to others, considering he shined with charm and charisma like a beacon, but apparently you needed more work.
It didn't matter right now, in any case. You have more important news to share with him.
A tall figure, a flash of blonde, catches your eye down the corridor. You race after it and round the corner to see your knight and his young charge walking away.
“Toshinori!” You call, and the two figures freeze, turning to look back at you. You rush closer, breathless and excited. Neither of them are in their full set of armor, only wearing the thickly padded tunic that has your kingdom's blazon proudly on display. You take a moment to admire the way your knight’s cloak drapes over his broad shoulders.
He may not be as strong as he was when younger, but that thin, tall frame holds strength and resilience you can't help but love.
“G-good morning to you both. I apologize for the interruption-” You start, nodding at Izuku who stares up at you with shining eyes. Toshinori straightens up, his smile professional and calm as he addresses you.
“No trouble at all, your highness.” He bows low to you, and for a moment his hand twitches as if to reach for you, but he forces it still. Izuku jolts as if shocked, quickly blowing low as well with a muttered ‘good morning’ of his own. He's still learning proper protocol, Toshinori had told you. The boy shows great promise as a knight and you know Toshinori is more proud of this boy than he is about any other accomplishment he has in his long career.
“If I may, Ser Knight, I would like to speak to you about something…” Your eyes dart to the boy at his side. “Urgent.” Toshinori catches on, his eyebrows raising in surprise and slight concern before he turns to his student.
“Young Midoriya, make your way to the stables and complete your usual duties. I will find you later.” Toshinori smiles at the boy with a tenderness that makes your heart squeeze in your chest. The urge to kiss the laugh lines on his cheeks is nearly overwhelming, and you barely stop yourself from doing so. You need to talk to him first.
Izuku hurries down the hallway with an eager stride, no doubt wanting to impress his teacher when they meet back up. With your own barely restrained enthusiasm you grab Toshinori's hand in your own and drag him to the closest private spot you know of. He stumbles for a moment as you pull him, letting out a choked noise of surprise. You can feel calluses from years of hard labor under the pads of your fingers, rough skin and scars that make your heart flutter with excitement. You've had those hands on you so many times, and now you know for certain you can feel them again for the rest of your life.
If he wants such a thing, that is.
“Y-your highness-! What is-” You ignore his questions, making a beeline for the nearest hidden alcove you can think of. It's a hidden spot right outside the entrance to the gardens, one you and Toshinori are very familiar with. Memories of his fingers, long and thick as they brought you to completion over and over while pressed against his chest flash through your mind as you pull him closer. It seems the same thoughts are on his mind as well, judging by the growing pink blush spreading over the bridge of his nose.
The sunlight bleeds through the leaves of the many trees planted, flowering blooms bright and colorful as fat bees buzz to and fro across them to collect nectar. A slight breeze picks up and you watch, mesmerized, as the golden hair of your knight seems to shine as it’s ruffled.
To think, you’ll be able to see him like this everyday for the rest of your life…if he accepts that is.
His voice startles you despite it being a whisper.
“My love, what is wrong? Did something happen…?” Despite the concern you see in his eyes, his mouth pulls up in a shy smile. “Or were you looking to…” One of his hands cups your cheek, his thumb brushing against your cheekbone in such a tender way it makes your very soul ache. Your eyes flutter shut as you turn into his palm, pressing a kiss against the rough skin. His blush deepens.
“I am flattered darling but is this really what you would consider ‘urgent’? You had me worried for a moment!” He chuckles, a deep soothing sound that sends shivers down your spine. You squeeze your thighs closed at the sudden rush of heat you feel at the sound. You manage to find your voice and speak.
“N-not entirely, beloved…” Your voice comes out as soft as his, a whisper to be carried away on the wind. Toshinori pulls you closer, his free arm wrapping around your waist to settle on the small of your back, his long fingers spreading to grip the meat of your ass. You squeak at the feeling, your hips pushing closer to his where you can feel his cock hardening under his tunic. He hums in interest at your words as he buries his nose into your hair.
“I was speaking with-...with Mother and Father today-” You feel him stiffen against you, and not because of arousal. He pulls back to look you in the eye, but his arms stay wrapped snugly around you. Toshinori’s brow is furrowed with concern as he looks at you.
“Are you alright? I know talks with Her Majesty can be…difficult for you. Is that why you came to me?” His eyes widened in panic. “A-and here I am trying to-! I am sorry love, you must be upset and I’m just-” You can feel his arms loosening from where they hold you tight, pulling away to give you space you most definitely did not want at the moment. You grip his wrists, tugging his hands back into their rightful place on you.
“No! No, I’m not upset please! Please-” You nuzzle into the hollow of his throat, “please hold me. I want to be held.” Your lips brush against his skin as you whisper and you hear him choke. Those strong arms wrap around you once more.
“Ah, a-as you wish…” Toshinori’s voice comes out breathless, and you feel him press a kiss to the crown of your head.
“It was a good talk. I was…” You pause, trying to think of the best way to phrase your question. “I was granted permission to…to court whomever I wish…”
You feel him suck in a sharp breath, his shoulders tensing under where your hands grip him to hold him close. You can hear the sound of his heartbeat where your head rests against his chest, and you know under your cheek is the very spot where his scar resides. You want to spend eternity like this, just being held by your knight like you’re something precious for once.
“...Truly? That's-that's fantastic my love…” You hear Toshinori gulp above you, his arms tightening their hold even further.
“I think so too. I wanted to ask…” You pause and breathe deeply, grounding yourself. He wouldn't say no, there was no reason to say no. “I wanted to ask if you would consider…allowing me to court you, Ser Knight? And to one day be my King Consort.” You press a kiss to his cloth covered chest, right above his heart.
“My love…” You feel his hand, rough with callouses, cup your jaw and angle your head up to look at him. Piercing blue eyes that glow with resilience and determination stare into your own. “There is nothing I would love more, than to be by your side.”
And he seals this promise with a kiss.
also I now have so many questions about the DAUD AU world that I don't know what to do with them. if a DAUD performs really well in the other universe does that do anything for them in their home universe?? What if they do really poorly? is there a system in which they are allowed to stay in the alternate universe?
Has a DAUD for vcarb/rb/alphatauri/whatever ever been part of one of redbulls mid season driver swap/promotion/demotion shenanigans?? is that even allowed?? rb still run three cars as allotted for being the designated team but they run 3 drivers from their normal universe and red bull steals the DAUD for their second car?
thank you for enabling me to talk about The DAUD AU
before we begin i very quickly have to solve the problem of benjamin’s DAUD program being one race only versus matilda’s DAUD program bring a whole season by saying in 2030 the FIA changes the program that drivers have to stay for a whole season and everyone agrees that it’s fine for teams to run three drivers for the season because as callan says, the DAUDs are usually shit!
okay now onto your very good questions. usually DAUDs are reserve/junior drivers and if they do well in the program, usually teams will move them up into the seat but it’s not like a direct correlation. sometimes DAUDs can do really well but they don’t end up with a full time seat 🤷‍♀️ like how winning f2 doesn't always guarantee a f1 seat.
but it helps your case massively if you do well which is why people attempt the DAUD program as a way to get into a f1 seat. that’s probably the main reason why benjamin does the DAUD program, he’s in the RB junior team and needs to make a name for himself.
matilda does the DAUD program because she hates her teammate (devon jackson when i catch you) and ferrari won’t fire him because idk he’s like super rich (pay drivers have hit ferrari in 2048) so he sees it as a way to escape for a season.
(also she’s running away from someone like callan but we don’t need to get into that. matthew doesn’t like her in the beginning and i wonder why …)
if they do really poorly there’s leniency depending how far forward/back they went (eg. drivers who go back 20+ years almost never do well so nothing happens) but if they went to a similar time period and do very badly they will almost always get dropped from their teams. like if you were from 2024 and get sent into 2025 and you DNF in the race you are unfortunately probably gonna get kicked out.
DAUDs aren’t allowed to stay in the alternate universe permanently because of *waves hand around* universe somehow not liking it BUT if you win the race/championship you get a special little universe time travel bracelet that allows you to travel between your home universe and your alternate universe whenever you wish. so matilda is absolutely travelling back and forth for the sole reason to annoy matthew and callan.
there’s a whole thing where callan’s like you don’t want kids after knowing matilda and max just sighs super loudly and is like “you must be really stupid if you don’t think daniel considers you two as his weird adult children. i knew i would be stuck with you two when i started dating daniel. be so serious callan.”
okay so the whole Red Bull/RB/DAUD swap is such a funny and great thought because red bull are absolutely doing crazy shit like that. below is the craziest possible option i could think of.
in 2035 in the old habits/glitter on the floor DAUD verse i think RB/red bull attempt this crazy driver thing, where the RB DAUD does incredibly well for the first race but then does like mediocre for the rest and of course red bull are immediately like well with results like that we gotta get them in the main team!
the race before the summer break, the 2nd red bull driver contracts appendicitis on the friday. red bull call on the RB DAUD to replace them, he beats matthew for that race and red bull are like okay you're staying for the rest of the season. i don't think you can give someone appendicitis but there's obviously going to be news articles on red bull giving appendicitis to the 2nd red bull driver as a way to get the RB DAUD into the seat.
everyone starts petitioning the FIA to stop red bull from doing this, lawsuits are launched, there's a full on civil war between teams, everyone in red bull and RB are walking on eggshells, and to top it off the after the 2nd red bull driver recovers they refuse to drive the RB so they quit midseason and then we go into summer break with five cars between the two teams and only four drivers.
RB didn't run the 3rd car in the race before summer break, so obviously now daniel has to find a driver for the rest of the season. he doesn't want to pull up any of the drivers from the junior team because they are not ready and honestly he's still holding a grudge against red bull for stealing one of his drivers behind his back AGAIN. he is teetering between also quitting mid season and calling andretti up being like hey you wanted a f1 team right??
matteo jokingly says daniel should drive the 3rd car, daniel is like i can't drive because of my hand. he's trying to figure out if he can call matilda again but ferrari won't let her drive. then max is like well i can. everyone turns to the door and max is like well it is not like i am doing anything else.
daniel thinks he's joking but then realises he is very much not joking and he's not going to look a gift horse in the face, shoves max into the factory to do seat fits etc. everyone in RB agrees to keep it hush hush because red bull would throw a fit if they found out max was replacement driver and swap the DAUD for max.
matthew catches wind that max is the replacement, attempts to get himself demoted so he can be teammates with max, callan throws his phone out the window before anything can happen.
summer break is over and RB haven't announced who the replacement driver is so everyone assumes they're abandoning the DAUD program/3rd car. no one suspects that max is the driver when he walks into the paddock, but when FP1 starts and people see the 3rd car with 33 on it everyone promptly loses their shit, daniel and max have the biggest shit eating grin on their face, christian is having a mental breakdown down at red bull, red bull shareholders are pissed, matthew is still trying to get himself demoted and on top of that FIA places a temporary ban on driver swaps mid season to deal with the lawsuits/petitions.
so then it turns out that the DAUD who was once thought to be a generational talent maybe wasn't that good at all because the first race back he hits matthew and causes him to retire. a fluke maybe. nah he hits callan in the next race. red bull come to the startling realisation they are stuck with this guy for the rest of the season. someone googles how to give appendicitis to someone else.
adding salt to the wound, RB finish above red bull in the WCC, callan wins the WDC and matthew quits red bull and the FIA give red bull a massive fine because what they did was illegal and outside of the regulations etc. red bull agree to sell RB to andretti at the end of the season and daniel has never ever been happier. this is what he wanted all along.
max wins the last race, we finally get the daniel, max, matthew, callan podium line up. max retires again, matthew quits red bull and goes to andretti with daniel as TP. matteo also joins andretti, we get the oops all matt team and mostly everyone lives happily ever after.
matilda visits at the end of the season and is like woah. what the fuck happened here and everyone just starts crying because it's been a long year.
is this situation so ridiculous and crazy? yes. but so is this universe.
Uncle Sukuna shows how he cares in less conventional ways.
He’s not usually the one to say “I love you”, and if he does, it’s after Yuuji said it first.
He never even thought of himself as the type to take in a child, let alone guardianship over his little nephew.
Never had he thought Jin would get such a short end of the stick, nor that such a blessing would come out of it.
Adjusting to life as (technically?) a single parent has been hard.
Managing work and toddler care is hard, thank goodness his dad’s stone heart has enough room for a precious grandson. (First grandchild privilege, he supposes.)
Part of caring for a child is making sure they have all the supplies they need.
Diapers, toys, new toys, enrichment time, outside time, food, water- all the stuff he needs for a dog he gets for Yuuji.
- He’s as energetic as a puppy anyhow.
He’s also learned that toddlers in specific need a lot more love than he can give.
He tries to be encouraging, but when he says something to one of Yuuji’s friends from daycare they run away and cry.
Of course, Yuuji gets upset that his friends don’t like his precious uncle, so what better than to lay on the floor and cry?
He’s given up. Not like they’re his brats anyway. He just has one big crybaby on his hands.
“Come on, let’s go get some ice cream. If you keep crying on the floor I’ll give the monster under your bed all your stuffed animals.” He says as threatening as possible, not thinking of the other children watching.
He disregards the gasps around him. His eyes are only on Yuuji, who jumps up and wipes his tears with the back of his hand.
“No!! The monster is too big, no more food for it!”
“Ok. If we don’t go he’s gonna eat you.” Like a member of the army, Yuuji jumps up and goes for his cubby to get his bag.
“Um, sir?” A timid voice says.
Sukuna turns around and sees one of his teachers behind him.
“Yea?” He raises an eyebrow. It’s always entertaining to see how anxious people get around him.
“We’re out of pull-ups for nap time i-if you can bring them in please, Sir!” She’s wringing her hands together like she’s preparing to get chopped in half.
“Ok. Anything else?”
“N-no.”
“Uncle Kuna!!! Let’s go get Superman ice cream!!” Yuuji saves his teachers day, Sukuna supposes. She looks like she’s about to break into pieces.
“Thanks.” Sukuna huffs out. He picks Yuuji up and Yuuji politely says bye to his teacher.
*
After they get ice cream, they head off to the store. He’s still sort of new to this thing, and fortunately has Jin’s stock still, so he grabs how many cases he feels fit.
Apparently, the daycare doesn’t need 10 cases.
“Can’t you just keep the rest in a stock or somethin?” He doesn’t want to whine, but he also doesn’t have room in their house for all these.
“um, do u mean, like using them for the other children too?”
“Yeah, whatever. So long as the b- kid uses em.” He grumbles.
Sure, Sukuna isn’t good at caring, but he’ll be damned if he does a bad job at it.
Alright besties, a new gen has begun so you know what that means. It’s family picture day! If you want an idea of how good Jamilah and Niran were at indoctrination, only 3 of their children have children, their oldest child has only been married for 8 years, but they already have almost 13 grandchildren. Today’s update will be from Jamilah’s pov, with a few interjections from me. Despite how much she thinks she knows everything, she in fact does not. Enjoy!
Tumblr media
Hello to my SISTERS in CHRIST! I have been active on this blog for MANY years so I think it would be a great idea to INTRODUCE my FAMILY to you ONCE MORE!
My name is Jamilah (49) and I have been married to my WONDERFUL HUSBAND Niran (54) for 30 years! We have been working DILIGENTLY together to lead the people of TOMARANG to Christ! We, along with a few of my cousins, established a church here that has nearly 100 MEMBERS! Our work is not finished, however, until EVERY knee in Tomarang bends to the Lord!!!!!!!
God has blessed Niran and I with SEVENTEEN children! Out of them, 10 still live at home with us: Blessing-Belle (21), Angel-Gabriel (17), Andrew-Redeemer (15), Heavenly-Rose (14), twins Disciple-Phillip and Noble-Peter (11), twins Mark-Patriot and Liberty-Sue (10), Kathryn-Praise (7) and Hallelujah-Mae (5). Every day spent with them is a TESTAMENT to God’s GRACE! Also, if you know any ELIGIBLE young men please direct them to my DEAR Blessing-Belle.
Tumblr media
My OLDEST SON Arrow-Michael (30) is married to Kanyawan (31), with whom he shares 6 BEAUTIFUL children: Baifern (7), Pimnara (5), twins Cherprang and Adisorn (4), Navin (1), and Kannika (0). Arrow-Michael works hard as a police officer here in Tomarang, while Kanyawan does her DUTY of homeschooling Baifern and minding after the little ones! I am very TOUCHED to see my son life his live in a way that is PLEASING to Christ and continue to pass these TEACHINGS onto his children!!
Tumblr media
My second son Courage-John (29) is married to Kimber (27) and has 1 daughter, Darcy (3) and just welcomed his NEW BABY BOY Wilder (0)! Courage-John resides in NEWCREST and works as a journalist for a CONSERVATIVE news outlet. The work he does is very IMPORTANT in a world that values the WOKE AGENDA and suppresses the VOICES of us GOD-HONORING Simericans! I have noticed that Courage-John and Kimber have ABANDONED a few values that they were raised with but they are STILL strong in the faith. I hope they do not waver much more!
The “wavering” in question is that Kimber now wears pants sometimes and they pop out kids at a slightly slower rate.
Tumblr media
Honor-Luke (27) is married to Kimber’s IDENTICAL TWIN Lauryn (27)! They have 3 children: Lincoln (4), Hope (2), and Hadley (6m). Lauryn is also currently 3 months along with TWIN BOYS! They also live in Newcrest and Honor-Luke works in the tech industry. Like Arrow-Michael, Honor-Luke takes great PRIDE in training his children up in God’s Word and keeping GOD as the head of his household!
Tumblr media
My FOURTH born and ELDEST DAUGHTER Glory-Jane (25) is STILL missing! I PRAY for her safe return!
Janie lives happily alone in San Myshuno, working as a model and actress. She’s booked and busy and never coming back lol.
Tumblr media
Emmanuel-Paul (23) lives with his wife Desta (23) in Sulani. I did not FULLY approve of their relationship, so I don’t have as much CONTACT with my SON as much as I would like!!! Emmanuel-Paul is a marine biologist and APPARENTLY Desta works OUTSIDE THE HOME as a lifeguard. If a woman MUST have a career, I find GALLAVANTING around the beach in a swimsuit to be a DEGRADING one, but it seems her HEADSHIP has no problem with it. From the FEW conversations I have RECENTLY had with Emmanuel-Paul, he insists that God has laid it on his heart to not have children until he and Desta were more “STABLE”. There were certainly days where Niran and I were short on FUNDS or PATIENCE but that’s why we TRUSTED in God!!!! I hate that my son doesn’t see children as a BLESSING but rather as a BURDEN!!! While they don’t have children, they do raise a CAT together. I’m SORRY I can’t RECALL the little one’s name right now. A cat isn’t a replacement for a SOLDIER in God’s army anyways!
The cat’s name is Piccolo. She’s so insufferable. And I don’t picture these two having kids at all actually, or at least for the next 10 years. They also aren’t religious anymore. Saying that God laid something on his heart was just Manny’s way of getting Jamilah to not question it.
Tumblr media
Blessing-Belle’s TWIN Mercy-Marie (21) just got married to Emery (22) in a GORGEOUS ceremony in San Myshuno. They are heading to their honeymoon in TARTOSA soon! Emery and Mercy-Marie both have their own ONLINE MINISTRIES catering to men and women. I know from EXPERIENCE that it’s a beautiful thing to SPREAD the word of God as a COUPLE.
Tumblr media
Then there’s Sunday-Grace (19). She ACTUALLY still lives with us but that’s not for long as she’s ENGAGED to Cameron (23). Cameron does the online ministry ALONGSIDE Emery. Sunday-Grace is excited for the move to San Myshuno and to be entering the HIGHEST CALLING for a woman: a housewife and mother!
Unexpected Gifts
Tumblr media
Written with @complicitsacrilege here is a little gift for the first day of the Saturnalia event.
Once again the winter solstice came close, like every year, and like every year Marius was caught by surprise. For creatures like them the flowing of time could be meaningless, and yet, sometimes it became the only thing they could focus on.
With winter the memories also came back, of a time long gone, that only a few people at court remembered. Saturnalia, the days of Saturn, the Old Wandering, heritage of a culture that was already old when Rome rose to power.
A fond smile turned the corners of his mouth, and even if it was normal now to see him happy, it still felt strange to Marius himself to show his emotions so openly.
He, the one who had always been the mentor, the teacher and the anchor, was now learning not to keep his emotions bottled. He had promised his beloved that he wouldn’t hide things from him, and even if it was a work in progress that sometimes Marius failed, he was doing his best to keep his word.
Thinking about his beloved, Marius remembered another tradition that was related to Saturn. Small gifts would be exchanged during the festivities, usually sweets for the youngest and worshiping statues for the adults who would take them to the temple.
He remembered his father and his siblings’ happiness when the holiday approached. The whole house would be in ferment the whole time. The children would jump around, too excited to even sleep, and the adults would work tirelessly to make sure that everything would be ready.
Marius never had children, but he doted on his nephews and nieces, spoiling them with gifts that had his siblings roll his eyes.
They will be insufferable, Marius. He could still hear his older brother’s voice, but even when he was scolding him, the fondness in his voice was unmistakable. Only after he had lost them Marius realized that his brother wasn’t only fond of his own children, but also of that brother so different from them and yet accepted in the family like he had always belonged.
Without wasting time, but still aware of how leaving without an explanation would look, Marius rushed back to their rooms and caught his beloved contemplating his new wardrobe, picking item after item, to match the shades and fabrics.
He kissed Armand’s unruly curls with affection and whispered to him a few words; “I need to leave for a bit, but I will be back before the meeting, so please, try not to kill our prince before I come back.”
The devious angel turned in his arms and looked at Marius, puzzled. “Does that mean I can kill him after you come back?”
“No, you horrible minx. We both know you love him, in your very peculiar way.”
Marius stole another kiss before he moved towards the balcony.
“Don’t do anything I wouldn’t, and please, wait for me.” He said before disappearing into the night.
***
Marius wasn’t fond of Ireland, for many reasons. The worst thing that happened to him there was to meet Mael, and he still had to recover from that. Traumatized for life by the barbarian drunk he had learned to stand, just for Lestat’s sake.
So no, he wasn’t fond of the land or the people, but he also knew when he needed them, and now he needed a druid and their magic for the gift he had in mind.
“You are a long way from home, Vampire.”
“I am, and yet I’m not, for my dark life began here.”
The old woman who appeared in front of him was dressed in white and had her long, grey hair in a braid softly laying on her right shoulder. She looked ageless and wise, and the wrinkles on her face only added to her charm.
Marius thought he would have loved to paint her, making her immortal on his canvas so that he could always remember her.
“And what are you looking for in the place that saw your rebirth?” She asked and her voice was now softer, like she saw in his soul that he wasn’t a menace to her and her people, but a man looking for guidance and help.
“I seek your help, for a gift.” Marius answered, a trace of amusement in his voice. Oh they could read each other, even without invading each other’s mind.
“For the celebration of a holiday that means nothing to us?”
“But that meant a lot for me, before I was turned.”
“We have something in common, Vampire. We too have old traditions we still follow. They root us to his land and our history, so that we won’t be forgotten.”
She sounded like Hypatia and Sappho. Like Marie Curie and Florence Nightingale. She sounded like every woman who had things to teach, who had fought against society and was defeated, only to be remembered forever by the future generations.
“What is it that you need our help with?” She asked but when Marius took from his pocket a silver blade, like those used to harvest mistletoe she took a step back, alarmed.
“Fear not, for I won’t hurt you. I just need the blade for something else.” Then he proceeded to cut himself, right where his heart laid, protected by his flesh.
She hissed when the blood didn’t stop flowing as it would be supposed to.
“You are ancient. Why aren’t you healing?”
Instead of answering, Marius gave her a ring he kept on a golden chain around his neck. It was old looking, but when her fingers touched the gold, she knew it was an heirloom that had belonged to him when he was human.
“I need your magic to seal my blood to this ring, for my gift…”
“Is one that comes from the heart, for the one you love above everything else.” She finished for him.
***
In their rooms his beloved was pacing like a caged lion. Marius had promised he would be back before the meeting, and yet, he wasn’t there.
He will come back. He told himself, but it was hard to listen to logic when fear clouded his mind. It was easier to retreat back into old habits that helped him to keep his heart protected for so long.
The taste of ashes awoke in his mouth, and he was ready to listen to the voice that told him to leave and never look back, when he heard a thud coming from the balcony, too loud to be Marius, right?
But when he looked, there he was, unsteady on his feet, like he was hurt, and in that moment he forgot everything about running away to rush to his side.
“What happened?” He asked as he grabbed Marius and dragged him into their room. “Are you hurt?”
However, when Marius didn’t answer but smiled, confusion and rage took charge of his actions.
“Why are you smiling,” Armand demanded, his worry turning to a pout almost immediately. “The meeting is beginning and you said you would be back.”
“And here I am, you cruel monster, but would you mind terribly if we skip the meeting, just this once?”
Just as quickly as it had appeared, Armand’s pout disappeared, and he narrowed his eyes, “You know I never mind an excuse to skip council meetings, but tell me, Master, what has happened to you?”
“Nothing really. I just wish to celebrate with you. It is the first day of Saturnalia, after all, and I want to share it with you.”
The court would still be there in a few nights, but this moment Marius wanted it to be just for them.
“I’m aware of the holiday, yes - but what does that have to do with anything? You’ve never wanted to celebrate before.” Armand’s suspicion was clear, even without the mind gift between them, Marius didn’t need it to hear it in his beloved’s tone, yet there was a brightness in his eyes that hadn’t been there for some time.
“There was never time before, my love. But now, no one is after us, and we are free to show each other love. So I thought we could celebrate this year, the world that goes upside down, where the Masters become slaves and the slaves are suddenly Master. Where gifts are exchanged and the old God would look upon the world with a fondness that nowadays is lost, protecting everyone for another year.”
There was a mischievous glint in Armand’s eye, but it was gone as soon as he wrapped his arms around Marius’ waist, moving in close, “Tell me more,” Armand grinned up at Marius, worry seemingly forgotten, “You never did tell me much about the old gods that you never believed in.”
Marius smiled, indulgent. “He was a God who had lost everything. His family cast him away when he became too much, too old, too expendable. He came to Earth to bring gifts of harvest and life. He was the promise of spring after winter, and yet he wandered into cities in winter, dressed in rugs, looking for a warm place to sleep and some food to consume, in exchange of the stories he had learned in his long life.” Marius said, with a gentle voice, without even realizing he had slipped into speaking Latin.
“I never saw him as a God, but as the whole of humanity itself, too old already, and yet waiting to be renewed.”
Armand hummed, pursing his lips for a moment, “That sounds like someone I might know,” his mischievous smile was back as he went up onto tip toe for a kiss.
“Are you calling me old?” Marius blew on Armand’s lips before stealing another kiss. “Then see if I give you the present I picked for you.”
“Well,” Armand started, dropping back down onto flat feet, “maybe not old - not as old as Seth, anyway. And would it help if I told you that I have something for you too?”
Marius looked at him, surprised and intrigued.
“You have something for me, for Saturnalia?”
No one had given him anything since he last saw his family, and he felt his heart grow bigger with all the tenderness he felt for his beloved.
“I might have a little something,” Armand replied slowly, swaying a little on his feet.
“Well, I guess now we’ll have to decide who will give his gift first.” Marius concluded with mirth shining in his eyes.
“You were the one to say you have a gift first,” Armand hinted, trailing a hand up Marius’ back, “Or are you simply gifting me with your presence during the holiday?”
Marius looked at him, pensive, his head on a side. “And wouldn’t that be a gift on its own? My whole attention, for days, with no one else coming between us?”
Armand huffed, “Perhaps that is my gift to you also, Master. I won’t be hunting down any rogue fledglings anytime soon, so you’ll have me all to yourself.” But after a pause, he added, “Very well. If I’m to be your Master for the holiday, then it’s only right that I give my slave his gift first.”
He pressed a kiss to Marius’ collarbone, hesitating for just a moment as a look of mild concern flashed across his expression, but then he was gone, darting away into their coffin room where he had evidently hidden his gift.
He came back seconds later with a large, rectangular object wrapped in fine cloth held carefully in his hands. Armand didn’t meet Marius’ gaze straight away, nor did he offer the gift immediately, but finally, he looked up. There was a vulnerability in his eyes that Marius hadn’t seen since Armand was a boy, and then he was wordlessly holding out the wrapped object.
Marius didn’t have words to express his emotions now. He would be Armand’s slave for as long as he wanted, was it the holidays or more. In many ways Armand had owned him, or at least his heart, since the first day they met, and Marius had never taken it back.
Slowly, as in fear of ruining the moment and shattering the precious balance between them, Marius lowered his head and took the offered gift like he would have taken the most delicate manuscript ever written by human’s hand. That was how much respect he had for the gift that came from Armand.
With attention he slowly showed what was hidden, revealing to the world a beautifully painted ikon that had Marius himself as subject. From the wooden support Marius stared at himself. God to Man, Immortal to Immortal, Saint to Sinner.
Red tears formed in his blue eyes, for the ikon spoke to his heart and he never saw anything more beautiful than the proof that Armand was taking back one of his passions, taken from him by human cruelty first, and blind fanaticism after.
“This - this is beautiful, my love.” He said as emotions choked him and his voice sounded shaking and weaker than it ever was.
Armand’s expression showed open vulnerability now, and even he had the beginnings of tears staining the whites of his eyes pink. “I painted it while you were gone. I –” he stopped, seemingly unable to continue, but then, “I had hoped it would bring you home.”
“I will always come back to you, wherever I am, my love, I will always come back to you. This is my vow, spoken under Saturn’s all knowing eyes. A promise I will keep until my last day on the Earth.” Marius said, his tears free to fall.
Both vulnerable, both hurt and trusting, it was the first time that they had been this close. Not even before they had crossed this line, and now even more, the choice Marius made felt right.
“As you humble servant, let me give you my gift, my Lord, my Beloved.”
Without hesitation, he took the ring that still felt warm in his hand, for the magic that was used would always maintain the love Marius felt for Armand, burning like the fire that celebrated the Gods all over the world.
His hand shook when he presented the ring to Armand, waiting for his reaction.
When Armand took the ring, his expression was almost unreadable, but as he ran his thumb over the ruby studded gold, his brows drew together and he examined it more closely. “It’s beautiful, Master… but is this,” he paused, bringing the ring to his nose. “Is this your blood,” he asked, turning his attention back to Marius.
“From the heart that was always yours, and that will be yours until you decide otherwise.”
At the risk of the painting, Armand stepped closer, hugging Marius tightly enough to crush any human, and he could feel one of his hands shift at his back as he slipped the ring onto one of his fingers. “Thank you, Master. Thank you for coming back to me.”
Red stains appeared on Marius’ shirt under Armand’s cheek, but he couldn’t bring himself to care. He had Armand back in his arms, where he belonged all along, what more was there to want?
I’m gonna be real with you guys, I kind of dread the idea of trying to raise any future kids in this church
#and it’s not because i don’t believe the faith. obvs i do#but like in practice i’m either going to be going by myself or with my mom & siblings or whoever#i don’t have any friends my age so idk how i’m gonna find good friends for future kids#and obvs i want them to have good friends#i do believe in the virtues of friendship and believe it’s an important thing for people to experience and work at#but also i’ve had a lot of heartbreak in friendship and have a complicated relationship with it#and when i think back on my own childhood in churches it was always so turbulent#both because my family didn’t gel with the cultures/ideals of so many parishes#and because my dad made enemies everywhere we went (for obvious reasons but still)#that wasn’t us kids’ fault#but it didn’t matter#i thought i had adults to look up to in faith#but i have literally none i have a close relationship with#and even the ones i respect that doesn’t mean they’re good around kids#or would like hanging out with me#and i don’t want just any random person thinking because they’ve talked to me a couple times#that they get say in the close intimate decisions or issues i have with my spouse or children#the whole thing is strange tbh#like i don’t even want to have a close relationship with some priests even if i respect them or like them#and too many priests think that just cause they see you once a week they know you and should have a say in things they know nothing about#idk man catholicism in america and maybe the world is just. so hard nowadays.
Bitches be fighting (it’s the head children 😘☺️)
#just pav things#We love it when they start yelling at each other 😌#Though there’s only really a select few that yell in this sort of accusatory way and point fingers and I’m thinking of Idyllia!#I did another take on the end of arc 2. Or maybe it’s a continuation of the existing developments#I don’t think she would take very kindly to the two boys having their mini-argument right in front of her (who would?)#And she would ESPECIALLY not take kindly to Dism calling Inigo a. y’know. murderer ✨🌈#I think she has some inner empathy towards Inigo even if she doesn’t say it yet (they both know they share similar feelings towards Archie)#They both feel like they failed Archie and wear that on their shoulders (albeit in complementary ways)#Of course this is Arc 2 and they’re still offput by each other. it’s uncomfortable to look at someone else and see yourself.#So she would slap Dism for his callousness :))) and then berate them both for their self-absorbed nature#Very in line with how she yells at Archie in Arc 3 for much the same thing :3#She perceives it as cowardice in both situations ✨ Dism being unable to admit he made a mistake and Archie unable to get over himself#and finally reunite with his brother instead of stringing things along#She gets angry because she dislikes that quality in herself :3#Anyways it’s fun to see how the head children react when they’re upset ❤️#Dism loses all tact and will say anything that comes to his mind. Very snide in his wording.#He loses his inhibitions and lets his shadow side come out to say what he ‘really’ thinks about others#Inigo who delicately holds himself together 24/7 struggles under duress and becomes irrational and hysterical#Jumps to conclusions WAY too quickly#Archie who hates himself more than anything is able to bear pain without lashing out#He directs his pain inward. He was never one for fighting.#Cynthia becomes very quiet and teary and unsure of herself. A stark contrast to her normal demeanour ✨#And as for Archie’s kids. Theon becomes very aggressive and physical (violence is the answer >:3)#Luna would just burst into tears if you made her upset :(#And Ewan takes half of Dism’s approach and half of Theon’s#Which honestly explains why he gets into so many scrapes. 0 conflict resolution skills ✨✨✨✨
Idk. Felt cute, might delete later:
—Oi, wolfboy. Sit.
Suiryu watches him with the patience of a river carving itself into rock. The effect on Garou is the same; wearing him down as he wears away.
Garou narrows his eyes. —Why?
Suiryu sighs, shaking his head. —Why, why…You love that word, don’t you?
But Suiryu is already shifting his body, making more space, trusting that Garou will follow as surely as smoke follows beauty, or night follows day.
Above them, the sky flares with the first flames of a firebird sunset. Lurid hues of orange, and red consuming pallid shades of yellow and blue.
Garou is shivering. From the cold, from the scene, and from something else. He digs his fingernails into the bare flesh of his crossed arms. He shouldn’t feel like this.
—Sit with me, Suiryu says. Please.
But Garou’s body is already moving for him, toward him, moving on its own. There’s no question of heart; it doesn’t occur to him. But the answer comes easily enough.
Suiryu watches with a sly smile and eyes you could drown in—how chilling, how dark, how deep.
Garou stares back with eyes like flame; with a gaze as readily kindled as extinguished.
