I don’t know if I’ll make it an official thing but I like the idea of one of solas’ agents having infiltrated Ellana’s circle and her just. letting it happen.

and the official reason is that it’s better to have the spies where they know they’re there. They can work around them easily enough and feed them information that obscures their true movements enough to keep solas’ people distracted without tipping them off

but of course it’s not really about that.

and at some point she just gets so, so tired. And here’s this agent of the man she has to stop but loves despite it all and gives up the ruse. She just asks how he’s doing. And of course the agent doesn’t know - the denial and confusion aren’t fake; solas wouldn’t have someone with that direct of a line to him anywhere near her the inquisition - but she asks anyway. And asks if they can pass along a message, when they run back to whoever it is they report to.

And the agent is more than a bit terrified because, well, it’s the inquisitor, and while she has a reputation for mercy, they’ve also heard about what happens when that mercy runs dry. And it’s not entirely clear whether, after everything, she has any for someone she knows has been spying on her for months.

and she just hands them a small box with a wax seal. It’s nothing impressive. Barely large enough to fill their palm, but she asks them not to open it and see that it gets to him, if they can.

and neither she nor the agent know what becomes of that box, only that, not long after they pass it to their cell leader, the number of elves in the shattered remains of the inquisition dips ever so slightly, and, once or twice, Ellana feels as though, if she turned around in her dreams, she might feel a wolf’s fur warm against her palm

I'm probably going to post about this on the MW subreddit, but I still find it pretty hilarious that most fans assume the "struggles" Jimbalaya was dealing with back on Earth were related to criminal acts (usually in order to demonize Curly) meanwhile most of the pieces of clues I've gathered from the HFIM dlc and the QnAs we got about the characters' lives have lead me to believe Jimbalaya's struggles were about poverty.

In the HFIM dlc we're pretty clearly playing a fish version of Jimbalaya, and the whole game is about how a capitalistic system ruins people (fish) and those that climb up help perpetuate the system and those that go down just get eaten. So it's pretty interesting to me that Jimbalaya fish even after consuming other fish and items... keeps going down.

But it was the third QnA that sealed it for me. Curly's hobbies are around a lot of friends and family that he could join interesting things. And of course play snow sports in Winter. Winter snow sports... which let's be honest is a pretty expensive hobby to have. Meanwhile, Jimbalaya can't afford any hobbies other than joining one with Curly.

I think this kinda just adds more fuel for Jimbalaya to both envy yet aspire to be like Curly.

I dunno, it's just fascinating to me watching so many fans claim the "struggles" were so obviously to do with crime when most of the current evidence I noticed seems to point towards money related issues.

I think both are valid and valuable interpretations that’s the MW fandom makes but I think the major problem with it is the severity in which they make Jimmy out to be every factor wrong with men in society.

Like I think it’s interesting to use the idea he has some record, misdemeanors/petty stuff, that has complied to make his life more difficult. It’s all his own doing for his entitlement and general behavior but it can also be used to comment on Capitalism banking on desperation and envy. A lot of his actions are desperate because he knows his crimes on the Tulpar will make it virtually to climb any ladder, anywhere anymore due to their weight. Like in the end the problem is undeniably how the proverbial rat race creates environments that fosters Jimmy’s and creates ineffective systems like Curly represents.

Curly on the other hand benefits from the corporate part of it with his financial freedom, stability and prestige but he too is socially stagnant, deeply unhappy in the identities placed on to him and unrecognizable as anything other than a cog in the machine. I think this goes in tandem with the other members too as the identities placed onto them in the scenario all represent stages in capitalism and class discrepancies: Anya represents largely marginalized identities (particularly women in blue collar fields/harassment) and how they ultimately have to fend for themselves. Daisuke a sort of perception of both a class between Curly and the rest, protected no matter the effects of the establishment due to his home life but at the same time he is the metaphorical future gen, things stripped from him as the older generations squabble amongst themselves in private conversations leaving him unequipped. Then there’s Swansea being sort of those who have lived through it, knowing how it ends but ultimately still lack the skills, resources and want to change it, letting it cycle.

The entire thing with Jimmy circles back to the fandom ultimately wanting easy solutions to the events in the games, a face to blame and a weird black and white thinking to issues that are dangerous to view that way.

New year, new OC. Well, to most of you, anyway.

No, I did not forget Karma and Gakushuu’s birthdays (though, I wouldn’t blame you if you thought I did). For Karma, I missed it ‘cause… well, I explained it in my last post; it’s there. So then I thought this was a perfect opportunity to make a brothers post, give him a late b-day piece, especially since if I were to pick one of the birthdays, I prefer January 1st (though, twins (and triplets, too, but, er, we’ll get to that very soon) don’t have to be born on the same day, so he could still be born on Christmas… details, details). And then, because I’ve been mulling over introducing her for a while, I decided to make it into a triplets post and introduce you to my OC Mineko.

She’s made a cameo before though; I don’t know if you remember. It was in a Kuniko piece.

I originally meant to introduce her in a fanfic first, but, uh… dunno when that’ll be written ^^; (I’ll get to it one day, but it’s not seeming anytime soon). Made her a few years ago because I really like seeing people give Gakushuu or Karma a sister, and since I’m obsessed with brothers’ AUs, why not hit two birds with one stone? Though, she only came into proper fruition when I got the fic idea. But yeah, decided to introduce her now, since January 1st is definitely her birthday, regardless of Karma’s (she’s the middle triplet. Gakushuu’s still the baby brother, haha). That was the plan, anyway, considering January 1st was yesterday… Oops.

But yeah, a belated happy birthday to Gakushuu (and Mineko), and a very belated happy birthday to Karma (One year, I’ll be on time for both 😤).

I’ll post some old sketches of her in a few days from now (to pad out some time for my next post; dunno when I’ll get something new out), and I’ll talk a bit more about her then, too, so you have some info on her and she’s not just a blank slate until I get her character sheet done (I am working on those, trust me… just, the art rut paused the process). But yeah, kinda wanna talk about the piece for a bit.

Since I’m dealing with 3, Neapolitan flavors were an easy idea to come to. So they’re having a little sibling outing on their birthday, eating little cakes. Obviously don’t have to explain Karma’s choice of flavor, but I kinda wanna explain Shuu’s. See, when I was a kid, I vividly remember seeing vanilla being referred to as the king of ice cream flavors, but when I looked it up years down the line, I couldn’t really find anything justifying my memory :/ But I’m pairing Shuu with vanilla because of that title my little kid brain may or may not have made up. I mean, why wouldn’t he want the (hypothetical) king of all flavors? And then Mineko gets chocolate by process of elimination. She wouldn’t really have a preference between those three flavors.

I’m too autistic for this, I cannot bear hearing let’s players doing their own voice acting when I adore the game’s VAs too much. Everyone always fucks up Santa’s and Lotus’s voices especially.

The in universe explanation is basically just a project name. Demi was one of the many results of an experiment involving the Phantom Ruby shards (as it was shown to be broken in Forces, I know it was shown to be literally just fine in sonic mania plus but shhhhh) they were created with the hopes to naturally be able to replicate its powers through a single being. The Ruby fascinated these scientists to no end, but trying to handle it fully with no filter could bring potential danger. This being would act as that filter, in a way.

It took many tries but eventually, this little jackal was the longest surviving “fusion” of sorts. Why did the Ruby decide to make them a jackal, I wonder…that Infinite guy was a jackal, right? He was the last known user. Could explain the similarities you know…let’s not question how the Ruby summoned Child. I love when gems like the Sol emeralds are the reason for fankids existing.

So Demi is in fact just an Infinite x Phantom Ruby crackship child when you think about it yeah (/j)

The project name was typically just called “Demi,” the Greek prefix for “half.” The “half” part came from the main goal of the project, which I’ve already talked about XD. Demi’s powers are kind of wonky because of that. They’re only “half” of the Phantom Ruby.

When Infy found him and EVENTUALLY asked if this kid had a name, they went with Demi. That was what they usually were called after all! So that had to have been their name! Right? Close enough.

Sure, there might be some parts here that potentially don’t make sense logically, but what does in the sonic universe actually

went to the beach w kp & 4 other indian friends & 3 of us had NEVER surfed before girl WHEW it’s SO fun literally only 20quid to rent a wetsuit & board & i fucking smashed my toes on the sand so much, but also we 1) got the wrong tickets so we got off 1 stop early 2) went to find a bus & the bus that was supposed to be 15 min turned into an HOUR 3) on our way to find a bus back everyone’s phones are dying or dead bc it took us 3hrs longer to get there, cigarettes are out 4) all of the shops in town are closed & the town seems to have ONLY a tesco extra & 1 off license that sells a PACK FOR 15.65 A PACK WHICH IS FUCKING CRIMINAL ITS CHEAPER TO BUY IT FROM TESCO ARE U INSANE 5) the bus back to the other town kept skipping us bc the bus stop wasn’t the ACTUAL bus stop - i had 1 bowl since literally 11a & we got back at fucking 11p 😭😭😭
