𝐀𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠.
Could be seen as a continuation to All of It, but the idea came from @tenkomura, bc when am i ever not thinking about something she said
Maybe you hate your younger self for being so naive.
Perhaps its because you cling to the memories of before, when everything was so much simpler and All For One was commanding Shigaraki to act. When he messed up, or when you messed up, All For One simply caressed your heads in such a comforting way that the loss felt like nothing.
Oh, how you loved him. Everything was so much easier when it was him. Yes he was the future, yes you were the symbols of fear, but to you he was just Tomura. Its the silent understanding that you both had, that even though the entire world was against you and the cause it was okay because you were together.
He loved you, it didn't need to be said. Even when the league expanded, it was still just you and him. Not to say he doesnt care for the league, because that would be a lie. But the love he has for them pales in comparison to the love he holds for you in the crevices of his heart. Its heard in the blood pumping in his veins and its sung in the whispers of his calm breathing when he's with you.
But you're villains. Villains don't get an ounce of peace. So when the league has ended Overhaul's short lived reign, and everyone's stopped and caught their breath. You sit with him in silence on the side of a bare highway that you'd been walking.
Maybe its foolish, but you follow him like a dog. You watch as Shigaraki opens the case of quirk erasing bullets. He stares. Almost like he wants to test if it works.
You sit next to him, sat shoulder to shoulder now. He simply says "If I erased my quirk, we could be normal." And you don't need to be a genius to know what he means, he means if he didn't have decay he would have a home. If he didn't have decay he wouldn't be All for One's subject of interest, id he didn't have this damn quirk he could be normal with you.
Would there even be a you though?
"Hm, maybe." you supply "You wouldn't have met me though, and I would trade any chances of being normal if it meant i got to be with you." you say, and Shigaraki stills.
"I... I think I would too." he smiles, its a crackly smile that makes blood speck on his lips that you just want to kiss already.
"When this is all over, lets go on a date. Okay?" you ask, your eyes now gazing up at him with hope.
Shigaraki's eyes widen, and looks to the quirk erasing bullets and quickly shuts them. "You promise?" he asks almost eagerly, and you hold up your pinky "pinky swear!"
Oh you fools.
Which is what's left you to stare at Shigaraki's tube. His body floating in the liquid endlessly for whats felt like years, but you know its only been a month or two. You feel so naive for ever thinking it would just be over, because of course its never over.
He would be the new holder of all for one. Because fate stops for nothing and no one, not even love. You hate yourself for being naive enough to hope that you would ever get to love him peacefully. You hate him for not realizing when you did that All for One was using you both. You hate All for One for taking your lives away from you.
This would never be over, Shigaraki will never give pinky promise kisses again, and he'll never build redstone farms for you when you get too frustrated and rage quit. He's never going to reach out for you again, and you're going to spend the rest of your life reaching for someone who's never going to reach back.
You press your head to the glass and cry. The doctor is used to your sobs though ans has grown to ignoring them, which you suppose is a win. But it still doesn't soothe the ache in your chest as you wish for everything to be different, and you pray every night that this is a bad dream. You pray that this is a nightmare and that night Shigaraki did use that quirk erasing bullet. You pray for this to be a bad dream of his and he never developed decay.
Because you would never trade your life with Shigaraki for normalcy, but you love him too much to watch him do this. You wished he would trade you for normalcy because loving him through this and always is simply too much.

TADC cast crushing on the reader
+ gummigoo and princess loolilalu!! Hooray! i think i might have written something like this a long long long time ago buuuuuuuut with episode 2 out and more info on some characters, i decided to remake it... if i have written this before..!
Notes: reader is GN but post mainly focuses on the canon characters
CWs: none
CAINE
Very obvious, and he's not going to waste too much time flirting with you before he asks you out on a date. He gives you special attention compared to the other circus members and always checks in on you first. He's open to flirting, but he doesn't go overboard with it... he's got to keep it family friendly, you know! Boggles at you if you return the energy, before regaining himself and hitting right back with a line. Doesn't hold back any punches when trying to impress you, it hits its peak when he tries to ask you out. It can get... overwhelming...
POMNI
Poor girl. She's so awkward around you, she doesn't want you to think she's some loser. Even though she kind of is already/j. Tries to make conversation with you to get to know you better and to just spend time with you. She's... clumsy... in the sense that she stumbles over her own words and seems more on edge when you're around. You might even think you did something wrong to make her act so tense around you. Not at all confident when asking you out, actually you might be the one to ask her first just to get the tension done and over with. She tries her best not to seem rude or put off by you, she's just clamming up is all!
RAGATHA
Similar to Pomni she's a little awkward, but she keeps herself composed much easier. Yoinking the fact that she practices her words before talking to someone and using it here. She hypes herself up before knocking on your door to check in on you. Very attentive to you and your needs, she subconsciously puts your wants/needs above her own... call her out on that because there's going to come a point where it's going to come to her detriment. Makes you things every now and then, cannot accept anything in return but she will try. Asks you out when she feels the time is right, and even if you don't feel the same she tries to move on with the friendship as normal unless you want some space.
JAX
When he's crushing someone he's the type to tease them and lightly bully them. "But Admin, he already does that," You might say. And you wouldn't be wrong. I can see him leaning more into it, though. So if you notice him getting onto you more than he did before.. well you might just assume he's being a jerk. He thinks love is gross, as immature as it sounds. Cooties mentality, so he does what he can to try to smother those feelings. On top of that he hates the idea of being vulnerable, giving him all the more incentive to try to destroy those feelings. Oddly enough, he still tosses pickup lines your way if he notices it gets under your skin. Is it mean? Yes, but let's not forget that Jax IS mean...
KINGER
It's hard to tell when he's crushing on someone simply because he's so... Kinger. But some big signs to let you know that you're on his mind is him hovering around you more and more as time passes. He's already lost his wife and deeply scared that something is going to happen to you. Actually, that fear might push him to tell you how he feels fairly quickly. It's nearly suffocating, and he needs that peace of mind that he can at least tell you how he feels before anything hypothetically happens. Strikes up conversations whenever he can, a lot revolving around his own interests because that's what helps keep him grounded and in the present moment... but he wants to hear you talk to! A bit of a flirt, surprisingly, but he's very polite about it.
ZOOBLE
Its hard to read zooble sometimes, but they make it easy by being forward with you. They come forward when they realize they have feelings for you, and that said feelings aren't just a dud and won't pass easily. Very accepting on whatever you answer, but I can see them needing some space from you if you reject them. It doesn't mean the friendship is over, Zooble just needs time to get those feelings out. Similarly to Jax, they don't like being vulnerable like that. Unlike Jax, they want to get it done and over with sooner rather than later. Not a flirt, but they will become more... noticeably relaxed and open around you. At least by Zooble standards.
GANGLE
Shy.. and awkward... I know I keep saying the girls are awkward, but Gangle is going to give Pomni a run for her money with how much of a mess she becomes. Doodles you a lot, becomes more cagey about her sketchbooks and papers because of this. Follows along with whatever you suggest you two do for the day, and doesn't protest all that much because she wants to make you happy and perhaps even impress you. Definitely fantasizes about some fanfiction-esque scene that leads to the two of you ending up together... it's actually a little... pathetic... and it's unlikely to happen like that, and knowing a certain circus member.. cough cough Jax.. she's probably not going to get the chance to tell you herself on her terms...
LOO
Very straight forward and confident when asking you out, and she takes it with grace if you don't feel the same. Similar to Caine, she gives you special attention! She might even give you some special privileges in her kingdom... definitely gives you some pointers that she's developing some feelings for you. A great listener, wants to know just about everything about you and she's going to let you rant and ramble about anything you want. She responds too, by the way. She doesn't just listen, she keeps the conversation going. Leaves you gifts every now and then!
GUMMIGOO
If this is post... everything... and he was allowed to stay, having a crush on someone so soon actually distresses him a little bit. He's just learned that he's an NPC and everything he knew prior to... everything.. was fake.. it all feels too sudden. The stress translates into frustration, so you may fall under the impression that he's upset with you. He is.. but only a little, for making him feel like this. But a bulk of it is towards himself and his circumstances. If this were any other time or if he didn't have the knowledge he has now, he would be more open and even attempt to flirt and tease you. Sad stuff.

Do you really think all of ML's problems would be fixed if Adrien never existed?
Good heavens, no.
Adrien isn't the problem. He's just a symptom of a much larger issue. That issue being laziness and poor writing that comes in the form of "tell, don't show", plot threads that go nowhere, and lack of character development or plot progression that leads to a setup of "Status Quo Is God". Removing Adrien wouldn't fix all of that. Heck, it wouldn't fix any of that.
I can't fault the writers for replacing Felix with Adrien. Even if I and others could write out a plot with Felix, that's not to say everyone could or that the writers could. It could very well be that Felix as he was in the PV simply didn't work for the setup they had in mind.
...the issue here is that the setup they had in mind seems to require stagnancy. Where Hawk Moth attacks without winning and the heroes fight off the akumas without really trying to track him as the source and the two leads chase each other around in circles without anyone making any headway in either of these battles. Marinette wants to date Adrien. Chat wants to date Ladybug. It's why all her plans to ask him out fail while his attempts to express his feelings aren't taken seriously. And there is no forward movement, whether in their arc or in the fight against Hawk Moth. There wasn't even build or lead up to the two falling in love. They just started out episode one with crushes on each other and remained having crushes on each other until arguably season 5.
But no good story is stagnant. In this setup, characters need to do things and there needs to be a feeling of forward momentum.
Break it down this way: What is Adrien's problem? What is his goal? What is the obstacle to his goal?
Yes, we could say Adrien's dad being a supervillain and a neglectful jerk is Adrien's main problem, but it's not the problem Adrien is actually focused on in the show. Instead, if we could say Adrien has a problem, it would be that he wants to date Ladybug. And his goal is to date Ladybug. And the source of the problem and obstacle to his goal is...Ladybug.
So his problem, his goal, and the obstacle are all the same thing. This ultimately seems to make his problems Ladybug’s fault then because the problem would be solved if she gives in to his wants rather than by any real effort on his part.
Adrien as he is in the show doesn't do anything. And he doesn't need to do anything because he is at his base a character that things are done for. He doesn't have a goal or direction or drive. He just comes out to deal with akumas as needed, flirt with Ladybug when he can, and then be sad because his life is so hard when he doesn't get what he wants. We don't see him doing anything else. We don't see him making friends. We don't see him engaging in school. We don't even really see how he interacts with the classmates he only recently met. Things happen around him, but he is not a driving force in anything in the show.
But Felix in the PV is a very driving character. He had a problem: he's cursed. What does he need to break the curse? A kiss from Ladybug. What are the obstacles to his goal: Ladybug refusing to kiss him and Hawk Moth trying to kill her. How does he get that kiss? By flirting with her and trying to earn her affections while protecting her and making sure she doesn't DIE against an akuma before he gets that special curse-breaking kiss.
It's the start of Felix's journey. His goal and the various obstacles to that goal that make his story interesting and his growth possible. As such, I see him as a character who would progress in his attempts to obtain his goal as well as one who would progress the storyline...which is also accurate of 3D Felix since that's kind of what he's done more in his relatively few appearances than the series has in 5 seasons.
Adrien didn't have to have Felix's personality. He didn't have to have the same goals or level of drive. But he could still have had things where he grows and helps to push the plot forward.
Adrien...
...just started school. He has no friends, knows no one, and is trying to learn the ins and outs of public education. How is he doing in the different setting with teachers instead of tutors? How is he trying to get along with his classmates? Does he experience bullying? Does anyone NOT like him? What is he going through as a new student who had been homeschooled all his life?
...is friends with Chloe. What's it like learning his "only friend" is a bully? How do people respond to this? Does anyone (besides Marinette) fear him or avoid him because if he's friends with Chloe, he must be just like her?
...is a superhero. He could have been spending time learning the history of the ring and trying to develop his powers. Trying to get stronger? Trying to get to know Plagg? What is he experiencing as a highly known model who is also a superhero and having to juggle those dual identities?
...has a dead mom who died of a "mysterious illness". Given that this loss supposedly occurred about a year prior, he could still be mourning her. Maybe trying to learn what happened to her.
...has a neglectful father. How is he trying to interact with his dad? How does he feel about his dad not being around? What is he doing to try to resolve this?
...has a supervillain father. Like, I cannot stress this enough! His dad is a SUPERVILLAIN! His dad is THE SUPERVILLAIN THEY ARE FIGHTING! People were predicting him finding out and joining Gabriel to try and revive his mom! People were living for the eventual heartbreak of when Adrien finds out the truth! Entire AUs, fan arts, and fanfics were born of this very idea! Going into the drama and struggle Adrien would be experiencing being caught between the "right thing" and the girl he loves and his duty vs his father and his mother and his family. HOW CAN THEY JUST IGNORE THIS?!
But we don't get any of that. Instead, we get Adrien...
...just acclimated with no issues in school and automatically friends with everyone. Good for him, I guess. Wish it was that easy for the rest of us.
...doing little besides occasional comments to Chloe as she is completely horrible for five seasons including Chloe stealing from classmates, getting the entire school punished for something she did, stealing a Miraculous, trying to crash a train, and betraying the city to Hawk Moth. But it takes him learning about something she did to Marinette a year ago for him to finally decide enough is enough and drop her as a friend.
...only goes out to deal with akumas as they come but does nothing to try and figure out his powers and history, get stronger, or try to track Hawk Moth.
...just moves on from dead mom. No relevance here aside from wanting to see a movie she was in or making a passing comment about how she got sick. No attempt to find out what happened to her. No questioning what she may have wanted for him.
...is just sad about his neglectful father neglecting him but seems to get over it rather quickly.
...never learns his father is a supervillain. Okay, I take it back. He learns twice and those timelines are erased with no real repercussions other than trauma for Marinette, so it really doesn't feel like they count. The pieces are all there, though! He knows his dad has the grimoire but never questions him about it! Never asks his dad what the deal was with Tibet! No question about how mom died or what is going on with Nathalie or what he's doing with a hidden mechanism in mom's portrait.
Adrien has potential. He has plot threads and aspects that could be used and goals he could have. But the writing does nothing with him, so while he has a number of things he COULD do to move forward and progress as a character or for the plot, nothing comes of it.
And that all boils down to a problem with the writing.
Adrien was chosen over Felix as an "easier" option to keep the story at a standstill so they could drag it out for as long as needed. That doesn't mean it should have been. There were so many paths that could have been taken, but Adrien was given the personality of a wet noodle, so he acts on none of them because that was what the writers wanted out of his character.

a/n: fwb zhongli who catches feelings for you and mopes when it's time for you to part ways bc me and art said so. suggestive obv but nothing blatantly nsfw
You've become sort of a sore topic for Zhongli.
No, not because you've rejected him in any way. Not even because he's trying to avoid catching feelings for you. Quite the opposite, actually.
He doesn't know what you are. He doesn't know if he means anything to you below the surface.
Sure, the flings were fun—distracting, even, when he was stressed from work. You were only meant to be a good time outside of work which Childe so earnestly encouraged him to find. And you were for the most part wonderful company even when he wasn't tangled in bedsheets with you.
The problem is that he was falling hard and fast, and he's almost positive the sentiment isn't shared.
"You're going out again?" Hu Tao asks as she peers into his office. He's packing up his belongings and shoving your favourite snacks into his bag.
"Yes, does that concern you, Director?"
"Yeesh," she hisses. "Cold. Haven't you two made it official yet?"
"No."
"And that's because...?" She trails off, awaiting some sort of explanation. It's been months after all. Months. Frankly, she's tired of watching Zhongli do this back and forth without making any actual advances outside of... well.
She coughs when he doesn't provide any answer. "Are you going to?"
The man only sighs, frustrated with himself or with the Director, he can't tell anymore. And again, he tells her:
"No."
She shakes her head. He's utterly hopeless.
"My, you sure do know a lot about Glaze Lilies."
Zhongli's fingers twitch and he recoils from you. The flower he placed behind your ear shimmers in the glow of lanterns, sparkling like diamond itself is sprouting from your hair. You look so breathtaking, he thinks. Could he tell you that? Probably not.
Ah, he must have been rambling without realizing. A bad habit that he has yet to kick. It must bore you to death.
"An old friend of mine used to love them," he tells you. "My apologies for going off on a tangent."
"No, no," you wave him off, a smile spreading across your face—warm and welcoming. For a moment he believes that you're looking at him with something more. "It's alright. I like listening to you talk."
"You... do?" He questions.
"Why wouldn't I?"
He opens his mouth like he has an answer but it quickly snaps shut. Yes, why wouldn't you? He's surprised that you haven't lost interest in him yet simply because he's a talktative walking history book, yet simultaneously relieved that you haven't left his side.
There's zero dishonesty evident in your expression, nor is there any sign that you genuinely want him to stop blathering. But the time has come to leave you anyway. If only the night could be as lasting as his growing feelings for you.
The winding streets of Liyue have lead you back to your front porch. It must be well into the night—hardly anyone is around. The shops have all packed up and closed down for the day and even the croaking of frogs has quieted down.
You turn slightly, glancing at the welcoming entrace of your home. "So... this is it."
"Home."
"Home," you echo.
"When will I see you next?"
You laugh, seemingly amused by his formality. "Whenever you'd like, Zhongli."
A long silence settles over you as you watch each other. Your eyes bore into his intensely, as if searching for something in them. With the distance between you, he can't make out exactly what it is that you're thinking.
You turn to leave and it's a familiar, gut-wrenching feeling. The sight of you leaving him: sometimes draped in nothing but his bedsheets and others like this. And for some reason, this version bothers him infinitely more.
It's pathetic that he mopes about it, feels like a kicked puppy now that your date (if you could even call it that) has ended. The uncertainty of having you means that it could be the last time he holds your gaze, or it could be just be the beginning of your story.
He wants you. He knows he does. Would it be selfish to ask you to be his? Does he have that right?
Just as he's about to leave you at your door, once he knows you've gotten safely there, your voice calls out to him.
"Actually, do you want to walk around a bit longer?" You freeze, looking surprised at your own suggestion before continuing. "I-I know it's quite late but..."
He holds his breath. But?
"But... I just want to hear your voice a little longer."
It's a silly reason, he knows. It's even worse how giddy he feels inside, acting like a child having a crush on someone. He's certain you can see the melting of his expression, eyes impossibly soft.
The realization strikes him down like lightning. Oh. How could he have not realized? Had he been so busy worrying about how to move on from you while you were still in his bed that he missed the way you purposefully lingered around a little longer? That you were always the one asking him when he was free?
He chuckles—to you or at himself, he isn't sure. "Of course."
When you close the distance between your bodies, he offers you his hand with a blooming smile. He can't help admiring you under the warm lights of the harbour. You take it without question and don't let go. He doesn't either.
"Where was I?"
"You were telling me about why they only blossom under moonlight," you ponder. You're not very subtle with the way you scoot your body closer into his side and how you try to nimbly interlock your fingers, but he doesn't mind.
He had been blind this long. He would be remiss if he were to let the opportunity slip.
"Ah, yes." Zhongli squeezes your hand as you walk. "I should tell you of this old legend."
There's an uncontrollable joy in his heart when he realizes that, indeed, it is only the beginning of a long tale.

I too ship Zutara and think they should have been canon. Although for me it's important to know how such a rewrite would go down. I tried to think, and I'm lost.
After Mai betrayed Azula for him, will he just go "sorry, not interested"? He isn't obligated to date her because of this, but her redemption hinges on Zuko and I don't see it being satisfying if he ends up rejecting her after this.
I thought the solution would be to rewrite her arc in boiling rock to make her have a moral realization, but then the problem with Maiko is practically solved. Their relationship wasn't salvaged by her redemption because last time they talked, Mai still didn't understand what's wrong with the Fire Nation and only changed because she loved Zuko. So how do you make it both satisfying & logical?
With Kataang the problem is the Chakras. The problem with the original (in my opinion) is that after he opened his chakra, letting go of his attachment to Katara, he's still attached (forcing a kiss on eip). Should TCoD get rewritten so that Azula shoots him before he opens it? Then why wouldn't he just open it later? Maybe the chakra would be locked so he feels as though he doesn't need to overcome his attachment just yet. In that situation, how would his chakra even unlock? The stone thing felt like nonsense, so how would I do it?
So yeah I have no idea how to approach this. How would you? (Thanks)
I've been rotating this ask in the back of my head like a rotisserie chicken for a few days--it's interesting because I don't generally stop to think like, how would I write them out of these relationships, I either ignore the relationships completely (which isn't hard, they were barely footnotes in the cartoon) or play a little bit with jealous exes or something. Thinking about like, In A Perfect World where Bryke wasn't in charge of ATLA post-canon (because if zutara had been canon, you can be sure they would've made us regret it) is interesting, and I do have thoughts on how I'd handle their relationships in a rewrite.
(this got long, so the rest is beneath the cut)
Assuming you mostly want to keep canon intact, I think maiko would be the easiest to work around, given how little relevance their relationship has in canon. The problem with maiko as an endgame ship is that it was not set up that way--if it had been, it would not have begun entirely off-screen and their whole relationship would not have been a study in misery and utter inability to connect emotionally. His relationship with Mai was there to showcase just how much he had changed and how little he fit into the life he had been so sure he wanted more than anything since his banishment. It worked very well to highlight Zuko's growth--how that contrasted to Mai's lack of it and why she could not understand him even at his most open and vulnerable--and did not work nearly so well when she was shoved back with him in the epilogue, after he'd quite literally forgotten her existence (he never mentions her again after Boiling Rock, not even to say a word of mourning, considering he'd have every reason to believe she was killed for defying his sister).
I don't think you can fix this by giving Mai some moral realization, because there simply is no room for it. As @araeph says in the essay I linked:
As a character, Mai is very useful to the story during Zuko’s return, because she represents everything that Zuko gains by sticking by his father. A girl who cares about him; the ability to indulge her; the authority he has over others at the palace; we see it all in his interactions with Mai. But this makes Mai a tether to a life he has long outgrown. Her function is not to advance Zuko’s character development, but to obstruct it, which also unfortunately means that Mai gaining a full understanding of Zuko’s trials would be disadvantageous to the story. If she knew everything about him and still wanted him to stay, it would give Zuko more cause than he should have to remain in the Fire Nation, but if she knew and encouraged him to leave and join the Avatar, it would rob Zuko of the triumph of making this decision on his own. In other words, there are good narrative reasons for keeping Mai in the dark; it just doesn’t make their relationship any stronger.
The seeds of a genuine redemption arc (one that includes some sort of moral realization and change to her moral framework) for Mai would have to have been planted far earlier than five episodes from the end of the series, but doing so would have of necessity detracted from Zuko's own character arc and the realizations that he makes despite his attachment to Mai (or more specifically to their relationship, which I feel like he was clinging to more out of a sense of abject loneliness he couldn't shake rather than genuine feelings and emotional connection).
So, in my mind, since we're tackling this with an eye towards getting rid of maiko with the fewest ripples to the overall story anyway, the easiest way to do this would be make one slight change to the end of the Boiling Rock two-parter--have Ty Lee (who had always been the least gung-ho of the trio about bowing to Azula's whims and had to be textually threatened into joining her in the first place) save Zuko's life, and then have Mai (who showed the most genuine affection for Ty Lee anyway) save Ty Lee. I love Zuko more than I fear you always fell flat for me as some epic declaration of love, anyway, since a) Zuko is not around to hear it, and b) unlike Ty Lee, she never showed much fear of Azula to begin with, so it wasn't a very high bar to clear. It was a cool line that was entirely unearned, and I don't think it would be missed, there would be some cute mailee crumbs this way, and a throwaway line of getting them released from the prison after the war ended could wrap up their presence in the story pretty nicely.
Now, kataang is a little trickier, if only because the last leg of Aang's character arc is almost completely derailed by his refusal to let go of his possessive attachment to Katara, to the point where he never naturally reopens his chakras, he has to have the Rock of Destiny hit him in just the right place, and the deus ex lionturtle there to give him a way out of having to make a hard moral choice. (I've maintained for years that if you work the final act of your main character's overall arc in such a way that it could have been solved by one good session with a chiropractor, something got fucked along the way.)
The thing about Aang's chakras is that, narratively, his whole thing with Guru Pathik and leaving his training early to save his friends was basically his version of Luke running away from his training with Yoda on Degobah because of his Force vision, only to find out that his friends were in the process of rescuing themselves and then losing his hand because he hadn't completed the most crucial part of his training. What's missing, therefore, from the last act of Aang's character arc, is the return.
See, in Star Wars, Luke pretty explicitly makes the wrong choice when he chooses to prioritize saving his friends over attaining enlightenment and fully mastering the Force. It was the only choice he could have made, but it was still the wrong one--because, like Aang, his friends did not actually need him to save them, he actually almost makes it harder for them to get away by requiring them to save him because, like Aang, he loses a battle in a very critical way. This was a lesson he desperately needed to learn, and it is clear he has learned it by the time he makes it back to Degobah and witnesses the end of Yoda's life, his own enlightenment having already been reached.
But Aang never goes back to the Guru.
And the text refuses to allow us to sit with the fact that he made the wrong choice in prioritizing his attachment to Katara over his ability to master the Avatar State. He is actually narratively vindicated about it, because the plot bends itself into a pretzel so that he doesn't have to spend any time during the last book trying to reopen his chakras and regain access to the Avatar State, handed both in the final battle with no excess effort on his part, and handed the girl into the bargain. (The girl who never even wanted him, so far as we can tell from all the lack of cues she gave him that she actually returned his feelings.)
And I think this could have been solved with a few scattered scenes. Let Katara actually have some agency in her own romantic relationship (or lack thereof), insofar as noticing Aang's advances and clueing the audience in to how she actually feels. Let Aang struggle with the fact that he can't reach the Avatar State, that his mastery of the elements is in limbo because he can't access his full power, rather than ignoring all of this until the end of the show. If we're trying to keep the shape of the last season roughly the same, let Katara confront Aang about the invasion kiss.
This would have been the perfect time to establish that Katara actually does feel some type of way about Aang prior to the epilogue, and it could have saved us from the exceedingly cringey EIP kiss that Aang never apologized for. How it comes across now, of course, is that Katara basically pretends it never even happened, to the point where she doesn't even know what Aang is talking about during EIP until he reminds her--the death knell for any shot their relationship had at looking requited, because I can tell you, as someone who's been a teenage girl, if someone I had conflicted but burgeoning romantic feelings for had kissed me, I would not have completely forgotten about it only a few weeks later--and we never get any indication as to what she actually felt about the kiss (which was not mutual, despite what Aang's dialogue in the EIP scene implies) except for the fact that she looked away and frowned afterwards. (A change mandated by Bryke, who wanted to leave her feelings completely ambiguous; the original storyboards had her smiling to herself.)
So, with an eye towards wrapping up Aang's puppy love crush and establishing Katara's distinct lack of romantic feelings for him, have her talk to him about the kiss. A good frame of reference for this would be Meng's conversation with Aang in "The Fortuneteller", where she finally realizes that he doesn't like her in the same way she likes him. Katara and Aang's conversation about the invasion kiss could be a callback to this, with Aang having some important realizations--that just because Katara doesn't share his feelings doesn't mean she loves him any less, and just because he can't have her the way he wanted doesn't mean he has to love her any less, that she doesn't belong to him but that's ok, because she's still his family and they'll always have each other's backs. Which could have functioned well in helping him take another step towards unblocking his chakras. Going back to the Guru directly may not have worked, since by this point in the story we're hurtling towards the final confrontation and Sozin's Comet, but let Aang reflect on what the Guru told him with new understanding granted him by his experiences throughout the first half of the season.
To keep the stakes high and up the suspense, obviously, he shouldn't have fully unlocked his chakras and the AS before the final fight, but the seeds could be planted--little moments like a talk with Katara about the invasion kiss, maybe a little more empathy and understanding from him about why Katara needs closure in TSR, etc--and then, during the final fight, rather than hand him all the answers on a silver platter, have him almost lose. He still can't go full Avatar, he's out of time, he still doesn't know exactly what to do about Ozai given his own pacifism and desire to preserve that part of his culture--he tries to fight but he's pretty quickly overpowered. Idk how I would've animated this, and maybe it wouldn't have looked as cool for the final fight, but the true climax of the finale was the Zuko and Azula agni kai anyway, so it hardly matters--I'm picturing him doing the rock-shield thing and going into a brief meditative state, where he finally achieves the enlightenment necessary to unlock the AS on his own, no rock of chiropracty necessary. And at this point, I'd give Ozai a Disney Death, since leaving him alive causes more problems than it solves and it's not necessary for Aang to kill him for him to die--they're fighting on a mountain ffs--but if you don't want to change that part then him figuring out energy bending as part of becoming a fully realized Avatar would at least feel more earned than the lionturtle just handing it to him. (And that could've been foreshadowed better by seeding the idea for it earlier in the season.)
After all of that, particularly if you up the emotions during the agni kai and have Zuko and Katara kiss there (or something less explicitly romantic but still tender, like a brief forehead touch), it'd feel pretty natural to have a just friends ending for Aang and Katara. Maybe a brief, slightly awkward but ultimately amiable conversation if Zuko and Katara had a ~thing at their final fight, and then the final shot of the series could be the gaang all together, maybe zutara holding hands or Katara resting her head on his shoulder or something, but since they already kissed there wouldn't feel like a need to end the whole show on romance, something which I've always felt missed the point of the series.
And then, y'know, after that, the world's your oyster! This is how I'd do it if I were trying to keep the bulk of the final season intact. Of course, breaking it all down to its component pieces and rebuilding from the ground up is also an option, but that'd probably be a longer post lol.

♡˗ˏ✎*ೃ˚ 𝕀𝕟𝕧𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕠𝕣 ₊˚ˑ༄
*ੈ✩‧₊˚ anon request: Hope requests aren't closed. Could I request Gepard, Argenti, Dan Heng, and Jing Yuan with a s/o who is an excellent inventor? Toys, machines, they can make anything.
*ੈ✩‧₊˚ They weren't when you requested so you're good! Also, I don't write for Argenti so hope you don't mind me changing him for Serval! She just suits here so well and I need more of the girlies so you can say I kinda took the opportunity there~ Anyway, hope it's still up to your liking!
*ੈ✩‧₊˚ fluff
✧ Dan Heng probably knows both a lot and a little about subject of inventing
✧ he read about it and even saw few constructions due to adventuring from planet to planet, but he also never really did it himself
✧ you'll have to introduce him to all the shortcuts while inventing something because he knows just the long and boring way, like instructions said, he'll do the exact steps
✧ he doesn't really mind and find it actually quite interesting to help you around
✧ but if your workshop is loud... he may not be big fan... and if you're trabilazer like him and all the noise is coming from the next room? Yeah, he'd loose it...
"Y/N. How about we go grab some sweets and you finish your work later? I need a break..."
✧ don't get him wrong, he's happy you're working on your skills but he just doesn't like the noise and would much prefer go on a walk while you work
✧ but at least he helps you with cleaning and quieter parts of inventing!
✧ tho if you live on planet and he rarely visits you we it is... he may not mind the noise as much. He's simply more focused on spending some quality time with you than that
﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌
@miya-akane @toyaswif3y - come get your quiet but scary trabilazer!
✧ Gepard is honestly happy for your achievements and you probably met each other through Serval
✧ but... let no one ask him who's better inventor... he's not gonna be able to choose between you and his sister so he'll end up with basic answer, simply saying you're both great which he's not lying about
✧ but if we can avoid that, he knows quite a bit about it so he'll often drop by and see how you're doing
✧ and if you need help, he wouldn't mind doing so we long as he's not busy
✧ if he won't know something... he can always ask you or Serval if you'll need some professional advice too!
✧ this boy is so busy and now he also has 2 inventors to help... he often leaves you or Serval mid day to go to another one, so he won't seem like he's playing favorites because he loves you both equally, just in different ways
"Hey love, I'll go see how Serval's doing, okey? I'll come back later so I can help you more since I know you're busy. I'll be back in 1 of 2 hours."
✧ but... Serval often kicks him out to help his partner, she's like tou cupid if you think about it...
﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌
✧ Serval is too!! You guys either met through work and bonded OR became close and just later realized you're both inventors
✧ when you were far enough into relationship, she definitely wanted to combine your two workshops so instead of "competing against each other", you could work together
✧ and lemme tell you... if you do it, your business is going CRAZY since you're both one of the best inventors in Belebog
✧ if you ever struggle with idea, fixing or making something, she's the one you should go for!
✧ she knows you're a bit better than her and will often mention it, not because she had low self-esteem but because she's proud girlfriend and wants to compliment you
"Hehe~ C'mon, you're the best at it! You need to teach me your trick someday, alright? In exchange... I could take you on a date next week! I'll clear my schedule so we can spend entire day with each other."
✧ expect her to be a little flirty from time to time when you work, sneaking little notes between not important machines so you'll wonder why it's not working just to find love letter there, or send some flying little robot with hear or chocolates on it... many can happen when she's in the playful mood!
﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌
✧ Jing Yuan most likely knows every citizen of Xianzhou Luofu, some worse some better... so he definitely knew you even before you got into relationship
✧ but your relationship either developed by him hiring you one day or him getting w little crush and visiting you often
✧ and when you're together, he'll often drop by to see how you're doing and he'll you around
✧ and when he can't come check up on you because of his work... he'll simply send someone to you! It can be either Cloud Knight on patrol or Yanqing passing by
✧ he loves seeing how much you can do with just the idea and materials. So he'll sometimes sit down next to you and watch you work
✧ his favorite thing is to see the project developed all the way from simple scratch to finished product
✧ he'll also remind you of breaks, taking you out for something sweet or to restaurant whenever you finish project you've been working for days
"It looks great, my dear. Now let's go eat something. My treat. Trust me, you deserve it for all the good work you did there."
﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌
@miya-akane - come get your soft general~

"DATE NIGHT"
P/S: "So how was the date" babydaddy!eren x reader once she makes it home from her night out.
W/C: 1388
A/N: Okay this is so fluffy and emotional, Rennie is such a freaking sweetheart and reader is a roller-coaster of emotions, y'all asked or part two so here we go! if I do a part 3 it may be from Eren's point of view and what happens when he makes it home to his girlfriend after staying all night at his baby mama's house...
today will definitely be a double drop day for all the love because we love sweet Rennie but daddy Rennie is a whole different vibe!
also I usually write from first person POV so if you see and I or ME that's what that is, let me know if y'all care about that and if y'all want to read in that POV.
Previous Fic: Let Me Help
Part One: Its Better This Way
All throughout the night, you try your best to focus on the man sitting in front of you but you mind refuses to think about anything other than the father of your child. You hope that the nice man who invited you to dinner wouldn't notice the way your eyes shifted. The way you lose interest in the fact that his eyes weren’t that emerald green you loved so much. “So yes, what about you?” his voice cut in. Your eyes widened slightly as you registered the question. “Oh, I’m just testing the waters on life.” you responded smoothly. He smiled and continued talking, unaware of your lack of interest.
“Thank you again for tonight. It was very nice.” you muster the strength to say to your date as he walks you to your car. “You’re welcome. Hopefully, we can get together again some time.” He questions hopefully. Not likely you think to yourself but you smile anyway. “One day.” You shrug slightly. He opens the driver side door for you and allows you to step inside. “Goodnight.” you say unable to bring yourself to give him a gentle peck on the cheek of appreciation or even a simple hug. Thankfully he doesn't press the matter, simply providing you a small nod of gratitude as he steps out of your way. You pull out of the parking lot and turn onto the road.
“Hey Siri, call Rennie.” you say as you pull up to a red light. He picks up on the second ring. “Yeah?” His sleepy voice vibrates through the speaker of the phone sending an unnecessary chill down your spine. You clear your throat slightly, hoping to relieve the tension. “I’m headed home. You still there?” you ask. You try your best to mask the hopefulness in your voice as you ask the question. “Yeah, I’m here. Just got little man down and I guess I dozed off with him.” He answered quietly. A small smile tugged at your lips as the image popped into your head. “Okay be there soon.” A little cry sounded in the background. “I think he heard your voice.” Eren said, chuckling softly. You hear him shuffling to standing and the gentle hitch in his breath as he leans down to pick up your child. “It’s okay little man. Daddy’s got you. Mommy will be home soon.” He whispered to him. “I’ll be there in 10.” you say before disconnecting the call. You rush as fast as you can back to your apartment.
Turning into the driveway, you cut the engine and locked your doors. Your mother’s car wasn’t here anymore. You quickly make your way to the front door, unlocking it and stepping inside. Quietly shutting it behind you and making sure it was locked, you clack your way up the steps to your bedroom. The nursery door is open when you get up there. You peek in to see Eren slowly rocking your son, smiling down at him. Your heart lurches slightly in your chest at the sight. You take a slow step back to collect yourself but he looks up and sees you, those eyes you had been dreaming about on your date meeting yours, before you could turn around and go to your room. “Hey.” He smiles. “Hi. Sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt your quality time.” you say. “All good. I was just laying him back down. You need to go get changed and everything? I don't mind waiting on you to finish up.” He offers. He leans over and places your child gently back into his crib. “Yeah, I won't be long.” you say. He follows you into your room, closing the door gently behind him.
“So how was the date?’ He asks leaning against the doorframe, arms crossing over his chest. Two pulses shoot down through your core but you shift your eyes away slowly. You plop down on the bed in a huff. “That good, huh?” He teases, walking over to kneel in front of you. The image of him on his knees before you bringing up long lost memories as you swallow hard. You take a slow breath to focus on the current moment. “You don’t have to do that.” you say softly. “Yeah, I know.” He responds. His warm hands wrap around your ankle as he carefully slips your heels off, placing them down by the foot of the bed. Then he gently holds your foot in his hand, massaging the swollen parts. You sigh quietly at the relief of his fingers working into the aches of your arches. He carefully rubbed the knots from both feet before releasing you. “Thank you.” you whisper. A gentle smile tugs at his lips. “Go, take a bath, get changed. I’ll be here when you get out.” He says standing back up and going back to the nursery.
You grab some clothes and make your way into the bathroom, trying not to think too much about what just happened, the warmth of his hands still lingering against your skin as you turn the water on and step inside. After you have cleaned yourself up and done your nighttime routine, you walk back towards your bedroom. He is sitting on the bed, your child in his arms waiting patiently. “He must be hungry.” you say walking to the bed. Eren stands as you toss the covers aside and scoot onto the mattress. You prop yourself up against the pillows and Eren hands you your nursing pillow. You press it into place and Eren reaches down and lays your child on top. He turns away towards the wall to allow you to unsnap your bra and let c/n latch.
“All good.” You clear your throat, alerting him to turn back and face you. “So, the date?” He asks again, taking that same spot in front of you on the bed. “I don't know. I mean he seemed nice but…” you pause, not able to tell him that the real reason you couldn't enjoy your date was that he was on your mind the entire time. “I just don't think I’m ready. Not now anyway.” you say shifting your gaze down to the bundle you held in your arm. “Understandable.” he reaches over and gives your knee a gentle squeeze. “It will happen in time. Don’t rush yourself. But also, give yourself grace. It’s okay to get back out there.” He encourages you. Your chest tightens with emotions but you mask it with a soft smile. You both sit in each other's company, the soft fan and the suckling of a child the only noises being made.
After c/n is done feeding, you burp and change him and Eren lays him back down in the crib. He places a gentle kiss to his forehead before whispering something slightly to him. You stand at the doorway, waiting to walk him out. You both walk to the living room in silence but he pauses at the door. “Babydoll...” he calls softly. “Yeah?" Eren turns to you, a longing glossy look in his eyes. Your heartbeat speeds up and a lump forms in your throat. “Do you think?” he pauses, trying to figure out if he should ask but he chooses to push through the anxiousness. “Do you think one day this would have worked?” He asks. You are at a loss for words. You hadn’t really discussed how things ended with you since that day you left him standing in the mall with her. “E, I-..” You didn't know how to respond. He drops his head slowly and a sharp pain hits your chest. “I get it.” He responds, voice barely above a whisper. You open your mouth to speak again but he simply pulls you into a hug. You rest your head against his chest, finding solace in his warmth and steadiness in the rhythm of his heartbeat. After what felt like seconds, he reluctantly pulls back and plants a kiss on your forehead. “Ren…” you start. “Goodnight my sweet babydoll.” He whispers before turning and walking out the door. You lock the door behind him before leaning back against it. You don't realize the tears are falling until you feel your butt hitting the floor and drops sliding from your face down to your arms.

i got yet another comment confused about mutagenicity's itatori so i guess i will write. what are these called. a shipping manifesto???
so first i will disclaim that this ship started as a joke and then proceeded to have me waffle around what i thought the dynamic would be, so some posts probably contradict each other. i was also on the fence about producing shippy content of tori with ANYONE for a while (i have very obviously changed my stance on this lmao)
so first, context. tori and itachi have a long, complicated history with each other. in plasticity, tori makes it clear she has no interest in fucking with itachi's goals, but she's also fully and demonstrably capable of doing just that, even by accident. she is also, by the events of mutagenicity, the only person in the entire world who knows his full backstory. he actively recruits her to konoha both because tori Knowing Things means he needs to keep an eye on her (because who the fuck knows what she will do) but also because he sees her as a valuable ally.
tori spends plasticity both with anxiety that itachi might do something horrible to her, resenting him for the power he holds over her, and then also low key enjoying his company. eventually she will realize he'd probably make her best possible ally.
in mutagenicity, they end up close friends. this is both because they're on the same team and also because they are fucked up adults in tweenaged bodies. who else are they supposed to hang out with? actual children? i don't think either would rank the other as their BEST friend, but they are pretty close. itachi respects tori's skills from day 1 and will defer to her on certain topics, which is not something he will do for most people. tori agrees to high treason to kill danzo for itachi with zero questions, conditions, or asking for anything in return, which does absolute wonders for itachi's affection for her. they end up with a deep, mutual trust for each other, and they enjoy each other's company
the part that started as a joke (and i'm leaving in because i think it's 1) funny, and 2) a great way to spotlight itachi's insane personality) is that itachi decides they should date without telling tori.
the reason for this is basically that his clan duty is to marry and have kids, so around age 16 mikoto starts shoving girls at him. the idea here is: the uchiha are progressive enough that his parents would prefer a love marriage for their son, but the marriage does have to happen, and itachi has yet to show romantic interest in literally everyone. itachi's issue with this is that he..... kind of hates other people. he doesn't want to date random teenage girls, but mikoto is a seasoned social manipulator and he keeps ending up in situations like "alone in the park with some girl and they're both eating ice cream HOW DID THIS HAPPEN." also now suddenly women are interested in him because he's a well-known celebrated genius important clan heir. his life? is hell?
and then he realizes all his problems would be solved if he simply got his own girlfriend. so he sits back and reflects on "women my age that i wouldn't hate spending time with" and the only answer is tori. so he starts inviting her places and obviously she says yes because they are friends and she enjoys spending time with him.
eventually tori figures out he's.... dating her? and she gets mad and breaks up with him because THAT'S AN INSANE THING TO DO, ITACHI. but then after she cools off she decides, actually, this is a great arrangement. she DOES like hanging out with itachi, but he does this annoying thing where he'll disappear for months because he's bad at socializing, and if they're dating she can strong arm him into not doing that. a lot of typical date activities are fun and she likes having an excuse to dress up. she likes making him pay for stuff (tori is also horrible). she likes the trickery/deception angle. she likes the social advantage of having someone she can make go with her to events, the fact that having a boyfriend means sexual harassment goes down, the bragging rights, etc.
so tori goes back to him and proposes they "fake date" for mutual benefit. dw, itachi, tori is also a seasoned manipulator, and this will go SO MUCH BETTER for you if you let her be in charge of it. and itachi is like "she is SO right, what was i thinking, tori loves fucking with people's heads--" and they start dating again!
except they aren't like..... romantic. like, both of them, as people, are not super into romance. they don't give off Dating Vibes to most people, unless you're part of their inner circle, in which case you're just witnessing itachi and tori discovering they have a mutually compatible approach to dating and romance. they're both treating it like some sort of long-term mission because they're both morons in the same direction, but if you're like deidara or shisui or someone, you've just had the horrible realization that they're probably going to marry each other.
itachi and tori think they are in cahoots. it is only a bonus that the cahoots are fun. however yes at some point when you've committed hard enough and are having enough fun, the cahoots are simply a committed relationship
tori: hey, are you ever going to go find a wife? wasn't that the plan?
itachi: (imagines dating literally anyone else) (imagines being less close to tori)
itachi: (don'tlikethat.jpeg)
itachi: .......do you want to marry me
tori: hm
tori: (imagines not being with itachi any more) (doubt.jpeg)
tori: yeah that sounds good

Tavtash leaves such a sour taste in my mouth. Like they could have had durgetash but they were too set on playing a manic pixie dream girl who is super sweet and lovely except that oh yeah she's fucking a mass murderer and a slaver
You know what's really funny to me?
I wrote a 5000 word rant about disliking Tavtash, and I think Tavs in general ruined the story of Baldur's Gate, but then I deleted it. Because people here just want me to fuel their Durgetash/Gortash thirst by making the funnies and the angsties.
They don't care to read things that challenge their viewpoints, offer a strong negative opinion, or encourage them to think critically.
And I know people wouldn't agree with it. Ultimately, that's why I delete a lot of rants. I come here so people can stroke my ego. I don't generally come here to start fights, because that simply bores me.
So it's just comedic to me that I get this anon, right as I deleted that post.
Because I'm glad someone understands.
Like oh, I'm sorry, you're too "nice" to pick the Dark Urge?
But you have no problem blowing a slaver?
You're like the stereotypical 90s love interests who are "nice girls" but also inexplicably dating a dude who knocks a kid in a wheelchair down the stairs. How the fuck can you be "nice" and compassionate, while the dude you're fucking is a sociopathic felon?
Durgetash works for TWO reasons.
Reason 1: They are both fucking awful, and we all know it. Them torturing and ruining each other is a tragic romance with broken teeth, and we enjoy the low moan of a dying animal, tearing itself apart in distress. They start evil, they end evil. Evil horny bastard sex. Tavtash could never be so demented.
Don't jump into bed with Enver Gortash if you intend to keep your hands clean either.
Reason 2: The Dark Urge was given a second chance, even though they didn't deserve it, and took it. They were given the opportunity to fix their mistakes in game. Gortash doesn't get that. The romance is in the tragedy of, he could never be saved. And you cannot save him, even as you save the rest of the world. You grow, and he stays behind.
The romance is in the longing and the yearning for something that is no longer there. The camaraderie of two lonely people...who were separated, and never ever came back together again. It's also about how you were born evil, but chose redemption, while he was born innocent, but chose damnation. Durgetash operates well on this level because it's always equality of opposites. It is character development, mirrored. And it's fascinating to consider.
And what does Tavtash have going on?
It's someone Gortash just met who has something he wants, who may or may not want to kill him but he's desperate enough to throw his eggs in that particular basket. And on Tav's side, it's weird because it's like omg.
I just met him, and he ruined my life, he put a fucking tadpole in my head, and I'm close to becoming a mindless monster without any free will, something he DIRECTLY did to me and my loved ones -
But I still think he's hot.
Hm. ok. that might be amusing if there wasn't a better precursor for a relationship sitting right there beneath you. rotting in Orin's dungeon.
I won't deny, Durgetash might be absolutely nuts - but it will never be as nuts as Tavtash.
But anyway. You didn't hear that from me.
If anyone asks, I looooove Tavtash. I loooooove Tavs. Especially YOUR Tav.

Taking what's not yours
Pairing: sanemi, and iguro x reader
Synopsis: after you and your partner break up, you forget some things at their house and they forget things in yours. But you aren't in contact. What do they do with your things?
Sanemi broke up with you, it was a nasty break up. He texted you simply saying "were breaking up, pack your shit and move back into your old house" you couldn't believe him. What did you do? You tried to message him but he wouldn't reply. You were in a rush to pack your things, rushing around the house grabbing anything of yours in sight. You were out of the house by the time sanemi got home. When he got home Sanemi expected you to still be packing but you were gone. Sanemi was shocked he thought you would at least stay and argue with him but you were gone.
Sanemi Lay down in bed thinking if his decision was a smart one, he met a girl in a club who Sanemi deemed prettier than you, so he broke up with you and pursued her. Turns out she wasn't what he thought she was, yes she was pretty but she talked too much and visibly wasn't interested in him. Sanemi turned onto his side facing his bedside table when he noticed the book you always read. It was your favourite, you must have forgotten it. Sanemi picked it up and flicked through the pages, oddly enough the book smelled of your perfume. Sanemi missed it and decided that he was going to text you but you blocked him. He threw his phone muttering curse words under his breath as he walked into the kitchen. He grabbed a drink and walked out onto your balcony where he noticed your lighter sitting at the corner where you always used to sit. Sanemi once again picked it up, he turned it on and off a few times before stuffing it into his pocket.
Iguro and you were a very happy couple, well that was until iguro met mitsuri. You are jealous she was so pretty and had boys falling at her feet, boys like iguro. You tried to brush off their relationship as simply friendly since they were both hashira. But as they hung out more and more you and iguro grew farther apart. You finally snapped when iguro cancelled a trip that you had planned two months ago, simply because kanroji had asked him to hang out and get lunch at a place that he doesn't like but he brushed it off since mitsuri liked it.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU? WE'VE BEEN PLANNING THIS FOR TWO MONTHS AND YOUR CANCELLING BECAUSE SOME TRASHY WHORE WANT TO GO GET LUNCH AT A PLACE YOU DONT FUCKING LIKE?"
You didn't mean what you said about kanroji but you were so blinded by rage that you didn't care what you said
"DON'T YOU DARE SPEAK ABOUT HER THAT WAY"
Iguro felt bad for shouting, he didn't mean for it to come off in that way, he knows you take things hard and he felt bad of course for you, but he just couldn't take how you spoke about kanroji, he fell for you first, but fell harder for her.
"you know what obanai?" You said, almost calmly, obanai tilted his head slightly waiting for you to continue your argument. "I'm done with you, and I'm done hearing about kanroji, I know you love her more than me, so I'll do you a favor and just fucking leave!" Obanai was surprised, you? Leave? He didn't think you would do it. But to his surprise, you packed your bags and walked out the door, he didn't try to run after you, he let you go.
A couple weeks later, obanai and mitsuri are now somewhat "dating", and the news spreads round like a wildfire. One night, mitsuri was staying at obanai's place and she noticed a pack of cigarettes sitting on the nightstand opposite Obanai's. "Obi, I didn't know you smoked!" She said, surprised to say the least. Obanai's heart dropped when he saw a box of the cigarettes you used to smoke, the pack was only half filled, you had smoked the rest. "I don't, they belong to an old friend of mine" he said quietly, and mitsuri let out a small "oh.." before handing obanai the pack and laying down to sleep. Once mitsuri was asleep, obanai put on the music you both used to listen to, and smoked one of the cigarettes, remembering the taste of your mouth. He cried, he missed you, you had moved on.

When we start to romance the ROs Will they start to get jealous of the other ROs? Or how jealous are the ROs in crush and dating stage?
Some of them are more jealous than others. Not every RO is jealous and not all of them show it. Ley (she/her): Ley is usually not a jealous person in her romantic relationships but sometimes she has moments of jealousy. Weirdly enough I think Ley would feel jealous at some point during the crushing stage if she sees the Mc (or Carol) flirting with another person. But she'll never say anything or let it show because she would feel like shit about being jealous since in her head the mc only sees her as a friend. In the dating stage, Ley would never be jealous cause she knows you love her, she loves you, she trusts you and she feels confident in your relationship. If someone tries to flirt with the Mc she'll never take it as a bad thing (unless they're making the MC uncomfortable), she'll just make a subtle comment like "Babe did you like the flowers I sent you?" or if they're together irl she'll just put her hand on the Mc's waist and smile to the person flirting with them. Carol (she/her): Carol is the opposite of Ley, she won't feel jealous during the crushing stage cause Mc is free to do what they like (she might feel a little hurt tho) and they are not together, Carol just likes them and she doesn't know if the MC likes her back so she can't really ask for more. During the relationship stage, she'll feel jealous sometimes. If someone is flirting with the MC and the MC is flirting back (even as a joke) she'll feel jealous. She won't say anything or get mad with MC but she'll try to reclaim their attention by changing the subject or by holding their hand if they're together irl. I don't particularly think that Carol is a jealous person but I do think that she wouldn't like it if someone flirts with her partner since If the MC and Carol get into a monogamous relationship she will stop flirting with Ley immediately.
Lup (he/him): Lup is the most jealous of all of them which isn't a lot but he will have moments of jealousy (nothing toxic). In the crushing stage, he'll have some jealous moments when Carol inevitably flirts with MC as a joke but he'll simply laugh along. He doesn't want to make MC uncomfortable so he will keep it to himself and he might be a bit more silent than usual during the rest of the session. Obviously, he won't say anything to Carol cause he knows she likes to flirt in a friendly way. During the dating stage, he'll communicate with mc, letting them know he was jealous when someone flirted with them or something like that. I think Lup and Ley are the two more experienced ones when it comes to relationships so tried to communicate his feelings without making mc feel guilty or anything. If someone is flirting with the MC, when they leave, he'll hold the MC and give them a cheesy phrase like "You're mine" not in a possessive way, more like in a cutesy way. David (he/him): David won't feel jealous in general. He thinks that Mc deserves someone better than him and he also thinks that is very improbable that mc would go for him in general. He will feel amused during the crushing stage if Carol flirts with the MC since Carol is pretty funny and if he sees the MC taking interest in other ROs he'll accept it graciously but he'll be sad. During the relationship when someone flirts with MC, he'll take the chance to tell them afterward something like "You see? They all think you're hot" to make them feel better about themselves or help them feel comfortable. He's very sweet and once he's in a relationship with someone he feels a lot more confident and has no need to feel jealous about others.
I hope you like it and let me know which one you want to romance.

Hey, I have an angsty headcanon that I would like your reaction to, I keep thinking about something bad happening to Momoi, like say she's aggressed badly, how do you think Aomine would react in this case? and how would Kagami and the GOM help him? I think he would go feral and try to find the person who did this and inflict pain upon them but at the same time he would feel so guilty because if he had walked her home that time and not be lazy, she would be safe and in a way it's his fault she's in this situation even if Momoi tries to reassure him it's not the case, he doesn't believe her. And the others would be at loss as of what to do because they've never seen him express such open rage.
OMGGG i love you for asking this i feel like an imagines blog :'))) i wrote a whole lot before i realised that the miragen boys are all together when this happens, so i'm sorry for changing the scene a bit!
setting the scene:
ok. let's say that momoi is walking alone from somewhere, maybe a festival, and she's lost aomine to his fleeting interest. he's supposed to be with her, but isn't, and she's annoyed about it. she's texting, so she doesn't realise that she's on this street alone, save for a few guys. as soon as they can, they pounce. one goes for her dropped purse, another for the phone in her hand, and the last for her. momoi manages to slip out of the jacket one has grabbed, and and makes a run for it. she's now lost her keys and her phone, but she's not far from home. she runs to aomine's house and not her own, because her parents work late and she's often home alone. aomine, however, lives here with his huge cop dad, so if anyone is going to get broken into, she thinks it'd be best if it was their house (sorry naomi/aomine's mum).
aomine, lounging on the sofa with a banana milk, is understandably horrified that his best friend got attacked. she's shaking, she's upset. his mum is there to look after her. aomine would absolutely go back out to try to find the assholes who attacked her. woe unto anyone carrying a familiar pink phone! let's say aomine finds her bag. it's empty of all contents, and everything not immediately interesting is strewn out on the pavement. he'll collect all her things and keep looking for the bad guys. he's seething, and requires the kind of justice to be carried out that the cops simply don't do. he finds her jacket, but nothing else. unfortunately, some guy was carrying a phone that looked just like her's, and he stood in front of him threateningly, with a "oi, where'd you get that?" only to realise that it's not hers. momoi's stuff is gone.
aomine's reaction:
i don't think aomine's guilt would set in immediately. he's contemplative by nature, and surprisingly sensitive given how mean he is. but he'd first be dealing with what he could do NOW to help his friend, and after that initial adrenaline buzz is over, he'll return to try to comfort her. let's make it clear that his mother is going to tell him the fuck off for going out after those guys, he shouldn't do it, he's one guy and they were three, etc. now let's say mama is on the phone to the police or whatever, starting the process. aomine is sitting right next to momoi, arm around her shoulders, silent as the grave.
now, he realises that this wouldn't have happened (yes it could have) if he was there (aomine, yes it could have.) (sorry i cant help it i need to reassure him MYSELF SJDHSJHD). the guilt builds quickly, weighing him down. it's not like those times where guys hit on her and he isn't around to be a stand-in boyfriend. he hates when she does that, it's fucking annoying and weird and she shouldn't tell people they're dating if they aren't. she should just say no and that's that (he's so stupid btw). the fact is, though, he was supposed to be there with her today specifically, and he wasn't because he didn't feel like going. he's not down today, he didn't have anything else, he just didn't want to go somewhere she did. he is resolute in his decision being founded in unfortunate, but concrete grounds, though. he wasn't to know that they'd attack her tonight! he isn't literally complicit. but he walks her places after that. he walks her home, even though she's just across the street.
i do not believe that aomine would voice how guilty he feels initially. he'll be more guarded around her, and suddenly he's telling guys who bug her to fuck off or he'll make them. which he doesn't usually like to do because it's a pain and they're shooting their shot, it's not like they're usually bad guys. (aomine.... seriously....) momoi can tell he's changed, though, and might call him out on his over-protectiveness when they're by themselves. then he might allude to the fact that he doesn't want something bad happening to her again when he isn't there, but i still think he'd struggle to verbalise that he believes he was in the wrong. he wishes he had done more. that's probably not ever going to be said aloud, but she gets it.
the reactions are below the cut!
kagami is more concerned with momoi. he thinks any fallout of her getting hurt that aomine is experiencing, is really minor. it's like when alex gets accosted by bad guys. it doesn't do any good to focus on what he could have done better, when the most important person is momoi (or alex) and how she feels. if he got the impression, based off of vibes alone, that aomine does feel guilty, he will offer a very blank "you weren't there, that's the whole story. no point crying about it, just stick to your plans next time." and aomine responds fairly well to the point-blank approach, but he'll get huffy and tell kagami to mind his own business.
midorima thinks aomine should have been there, and is quietly outraged that he had bailed on her to allow her to walk by herself. midorima has a younger sister whom he worries about when she's out, he doesn't understand not making sure that momoi gets home safe. he wasn't even doing anything. i can imagine momoi confiding in midorima that she thinks aomine feels guilty. he will tell her "you needn't waste time worrying about what aomine thinks. i admit that i wish i had informed you of your lucky item that day, i regret that i didn't. but my guilt is not your burden, just as his isn't." and to aomine he will say "the truth of the matter is that it is your fault that she faced that situation alone, but it is not your fault that it happened. i'm not going to stand here and nurse your hurt feelings. you know what you must do." (can you be less cryptic please? he means to suggest that aomine should simply walk her home more.) aomine will be pissed off by this lecturing.
kise is pissed off that aomine didn't stick to his plans, but does realise that it's not actually aomine's fault. like midorima and kagami, he is pretty unsympathetic to aomine's trouble. he might go so far as to say something like "it wouldn't have happened if you were there like you promised. momoi looks out for you more than anyone else. the least you could do is return the favour sometimes." aomine fights kise, tells him to fuck off, and doesn't talk to him for a few weeks. that's how aomine feels himself, and he doesn't like that kise thought the same.
kuroko is able to see the big picture pretty clearly. he sees momoi's fear and upset over the event and sympathises, as he does for aomine's reaction. like kagami, kuroko would remind aomine that he should be thinking about himself in this, less. though kuroko believes that he and momoi should talk. he says: "it happened. sulking about it won't change anything. i know you feel guilty because you weren't there to help. i think you should tell momoi how you feel. a talk would benefit both of you."
murasakibara is disappointed that it happened, and that aomine wasn't there to help when he said he would be, but he would be first to say "it's not like it's your fault. you need to lighten up." he doesn't think aomine should feel guilty, especially not when he knows that momoi wouldn't want that. he prefers not to get involved in aomine's emotional disposition, or in momoi's personal life though.
akashi is very direct with how he feels. aomine let her down, he had no reason to, but he did. it wouldn't have been difficult to meet her, or at the very least, to tell her not to expect him. he sees her texting as an important feature in the story: the reason she was distracted on the isolated street. his stance is similar to kuroko's, i think, but he doesn't focus on how aomine's feeling about it, he focuses on the actions. "you failed to help momoi in her hour of need. ordinarily, i would say that it is not your fault, as you cannot be in two places at once. what happened is not a direct consequence to your actions, however you should think carefully about your role as her friend in the future. she takes good care of you, aomine. you should return the favour."
the miragen reacting to daiki in a full anger mode meltdown! i felt bad for accidentally changing your scenario HAHAhsdjhsd let's say for fun that instead of going home, momoi comes to the meet spot for wherever aomine and the others are.
kagami is more focused on momoi to deal with aomine's anger. he knows this feeling well, though, and will go with him to hunt down the bastards who tried to hurt her!!!! the only thing he notices about aomine in this rage is a moment of satisfaction because he knew aomine actually cared about momoi! he's so stupid to fight her all the time.
kuroko is absolutely 3000% already out the door, going to get her stuff back for her, by the time aomine catches up. he's seething, and has murder in mind ! they're both furious, so kuroko won't notice aomine's rage as much. unless he starts kicking up a fuss because they can't find momoi's stuff, which he will, and kuroko will tell him to shut the fuck up and go home if you're going to be noisy, he has SHIT to do. kuroko's fierce loyalty and complete disregard for personal safety are a bad combination.
midorima is more pragmatic. he views the items as long gone, and will sit by momoi taking stock of everything he can think of to help her in the immediate future. he is frustrated by aomine's storming around, and tells him that he's making things worse by fussing. midorima sits quietly with her, and notes down any cards she could have had in her wallet, how she'll need a new phone number, maybe gets the process started for having to apply for a new school ID to replace the one that's lost. he knows what charms she had on her bag, so he'll get her replacements. midorima's support is as strong as the others', but he doesn't show it. he looks like he's sitting awkwardly, letting her cry into his shoulder if needs be.
kise is 100% on team Recovery. he's following aomine, and trying to steer aomine's rage to useful purposes. kise is probably as outraged as he is, so they're a mean duo on the streets of tokyo!!!! bad guys beware!!!
murasakibara is impatient with aomine's rage, and not interested in helping him. he might comfort momoi, i dont really know him that well, but his support will look distant too. he's upset more than outraged that his friend got hurt.
akashi has already called his contacts with the police department to put out an apb!!! im kidding he's sixteen years old. anyway akashi is firm with aomine, willing that he either calms down or does something about it. similarly to midorima, he'll look after momoi and tell aomine to piss off if he's going to storm around. his friends love him, but aomine is noisy when he's angry and they want to focus on momoi.

I'm one of those ppl who think the equalist Asami plot for TLOK likely wouldn't have played out that well. I get why peeople want it -- giving Asami simply more to do is always a plus, and plus grey morality is interesting in characters, plus we get to flesh out the equalist movement as it is quite sympathetic.' The problem I have is that committing to a true double agent story takes time and I just don't think TLOK has it, and could easily fumble it. Plus I'm not that bothered about enemies to lovers, and I think Asami's 'redemption' arc would be seen as Zuko-lite.
So my suggestion to develop Asami more, but keep the story relatively uncomplicated for such a busy series with many elements in it:
-- Asami is an equalist sympathiser, not a full blown equalist.
-- She doesn't hit Mako with her moped. Instead, Mako and Bolin put an ad in the paper asking for sponsors. Who drops by, Hiroshi and Asami Sato! Asami accompanies her father as she is a bit suspicious of the probenders, sees probending as a farce. She's angry as benders killed her mother. But Hiroshi wants to sponsor the team, says some spiel about it being good business, gets Mako on side like the show.
-- Hiroshi is an equalist like the show. He decides to sponsor the Fire Ferrets as it gives him in an in on the probending world and the arena that he can report back to Amon.
-- Asami and Mako and Bolin spend some time together. She's suspicious but at some point prior to Hiroshi's reveal her and Mako have a talk. She vents about bending that she knows not every bender is evil but bending took away her mum. Mako says the same thing, bending took away his mother. But bending helped protect his little brother as they had nothing else to rely on. This helps Asami put somethings into perspective a bit-- as I think the discussion of opression in this universe cannot be solely limited to bending, it has to include class as well.
-- Like the show she is still fairly kind.
-- Mako and Asami do not date in book 1, but there is maybe some attraction between each other, but with Asami's bending reservations there is no chance for an immediate attraction in canon. Korra is still jealous of Asami just because she's beautiful and captures Mako's attention. I'm going to keep this version fairly similar to canon so Mako and Korra still date at the end of the series.
-- Asami still invites Korra and Bolin and Mako to her house when the arena is shut down as she's a nice person. Korra is like OWO at Asami. But then she finds an equalist glove in the house-- who would have that unless you're an equalist? And she and Mako muse that it would make sense if it's Future Industries tech, and since Asami lives in the house and has voiced reservations about bending before, it would make sense if she's the equalist and even making them.
-- Asami is heartbroken that her friends would suspect her like that. She's interviewed and released due to lack of evidence. At some point Mako and Korra and Bolin find the secret passageway, Hiroshi is revealed. LIke in canon, she makes the choice to side with her new friends. They apologise to her for doubting her and she forgives them.
The rest plays like book 1 canon (but with less love triangle stuff) and we could spend more time on the ordinary non-bending citizens being victimised by the police.
The reason I like this is that we get a more developed equalist subplot. Asami is kind, but she's wary of bending, and how it can hurt people. It's complicated. If the rest of the show supports that, then Asami is seen as a bit more complicated and reserved than just kind and perfect. She's a bit short-sighted in terms of her wealth giving her privilidge.
I think for the rest of the series, to give Asami more flaws and depth post book 1 you can a) play up her privilege and wealth and b) play more into her insecurities. Book 2 does show that she's worried about literally running Future Industries as a CEO. Instead of the show where her problems are fixed by a man (Bolin) punching Varrick, instead we can see her POV more and how worried she is, more time is spent on her handing over the company, and she also gets the chance to bring Varrick to justice. She can still date Mako and realise he's not right for her. She dates Mako in book 2 because he's there, comforting her, so that can still happen.
Book 3 and 4 can be similar to canon, just have more time with Asami. In book 3, we mention how she's angry and insecure and just needs a break from beng CEO, that she just doesn't get everything right-- which Korra validates her with and relates with her own struggles and pressures as the Avatar. They touch hands, look into each others eyes, they say they understand each other (the start of korrasami).
Maybe in book 4 she makes sure she's a voice for non-benders and intra-community relations, tying the plots from the start to the end together more. And more time spent on her loss of Korra and her anger at her Dad.
Idk. Maybe I just don't see the solution to Asami being underwritten is to put her into an enemies to lovers plot. There's plenty there in the whole series to build off whilst keeping her 'good' and relatively uncomplicated.

Even when Simon is confused and in the shackles of comphet he still believes Baz is inherently desirable and lovable (because he feels that way about him). I think about how much he tries to deceive himself into accepting a situation he's unhappy with, but when look past all the all the metal gymnastics, you’re left with a boy who desires another boy, who can't understand it, and who is jealous of the one of the only friends he has (which hurts him).
When he thinks "why would Agatha want him/what does she see in him?" ... in other media, we have the typical straight jealousy of a guy who is Going Through It because the girl he likes is interested in Another Guy, and Simon tries to operate within the situations and tropes and whatever expectations that come up in those, he tries to fit in that mold... but here, it feels more sincere to see it as Simon despairing not because he's concerned about The Girl's Love Life (he never is, not even when he's supposed to be in it) but because he's concerned about Baz. Because he doesn't want Baz to date anyone.
Simon never thinks of Agatha as desirable. He thinks of her as aspirational, as someone to be like, as a means to and end (belonging, a fantasy, etc). He thinks he should be attracted to her, like there's no choice, like his actual input doesn’t matter (using inanimate objects, which don’t have thoughts or feelings, and later admitting he didn't have any feelings for her either). It’s never "of course Baz would want my girlfriend, who wouldn't? I mean, look at her, she's so pretty! She’s so [insert good qualities here] [hell, Simon doesn’t even give you enough to fill in this sentence]".... Nope, it's the other way around! “Of course Agatha wants Baz” … even things that would make Baz “annoying” are included in the package of what makes Baz desirable for Simon.
That Agatha line about not wanting to break up only because of ball dances and shit, and literally nothing else, says it all. “The only reason you don’t want to break up is because you need a girl to be with in a very public event where you need to look heterosexually accompanied in order to fit in, but we don’t need to do that, we can just be friends” is essentially what it’s said. And friendship is all Simon actually wants from her: when he should be talking about her as girlfriend, he’s glaringly only saying they have only ever been friends, what type of friend she is, how they became friends, etc.
All of this is to say is… with that line I mentioned, what truly bothers Simon the most is that, in a moment where he can’t contemplate or understand anything outside of heteronormativity… he’s longing for Baz, but he fears his friend, a beautiful girl, will be the one to have him. He’s bothered and hurting because he sees Agatha as competition (snatching Baz’s handkerchief away and keeping it to himself, being bothered by the implication that she knows him better than him) and because can’t stand the idea of her “winning” (doesn’t he literally think “anyone but him” about Agatha pursuing someone romantically? going by memory here). And this is further complicated by Agatha being a close friend, and what if she also has feelings for him? What if she says she wants him because she loves him? What if he loves her back? (He’s bothered and angered when he thinks he’s hearing Baz say “I don’t care about her, I was just playing with her for no reason” which is a genuinely shitty thing to do, as opposed to “I don’t care” = “I don’t have romantic feelings for this person,” and Simon doesn’t truly want confirmation of Baz being actually bad, but at same time, he absolutely doesn’t want to hear Baz say he paid her attention because he wanted her. Even Baz simply holding her hands got him extremely fucked up). All of this are things keeping good ol’ Simon up at night. (Besides the whole “measuring success and fitting in by dating heterosexually in a way that I believe is aspirational” of it all further complicating any realization or contributing to feelings of betrayal. But at the heart of it, I think it’s as simple as “my friend wants the same guy I want”)

Do you have any headcanons for Giovanni and Ariana's relationship?
I do!
Simply put, this is a complicated and unconventional relationship between two bad people who are on essentially the same page about it.
-As the leader of Team Rocket, an organization that's been in the family for a few generations, Giovanni faced a certain amount of pressure to marry for power and produce heirs. He didn't want that. He didn't want to deal with some upper-class housewife who would hassle him about things like "monogamy" and "taking time off work for the family." Ariana similarly faced pressure to marry someone rich and powerful who would want her to settle down and felt like her only other options were either to date way below her station (ew) or to live a loveless life for the sake of her career. One night she and Giovanni got drunk and complained to each other about this, and they were both like, "Wait, idea!"
-They basically made a relationship contract before their first date to make sure they wouldn't tie each other down. It's an open relationship and they both sleep with other people when they're traveling for work. Giovanni promised that Ariana wouldn’t have to take off more time for pregnancy and the like than she wanted and could come right back to work once she'd had a kid and was ready- she could think of it as one more assignment for her role as Team Rocket Executive.
-The actual courtship between them is a lot of fun. Think dates in the Team Rocket blimp or Giovanni's cruise ship, candlelit dinners, dancing, and the like. They love each others' company and are completely on the same page when it comes to the excitement of making Team Rocket a powerful organization, often spending long periods talking about their schemes, whether past, present or future. In a lot of ways, they are incredibly in sync.
-...but moments like these can be far between. Giovanni is married to his work and his other interests, and he travels for work often so they're often physically separated.
-Got married on the Team Rocket blimp with both their families and all the other executives in attendance. Jessie and James were there as servers, and nearly crashed the blimp through their shenanigans but managed to correct things before anyone noticed.
-Some part of Ariana would like more of Giovanni's attention and affection, but, well, that's how all the executives feel. Welcome to the club, Ariana. She doesn't care for the selfishness and lack of commitment he showed when he left Team Rocket for three years and wishes she could give him an earful for it, but once again, welcome to the club. They all wish they could give Giovanni a little more pushback, she's not special (as much as she pretends to be when she has her sassy little arguments with Archer over which of them is more important to him). But hey, she gets to go on dates with a rich and charming man and also be an imposing criminal in her own right. They're both happy, even though they're not a huge part of each others' lives compared to most married couples, nor is it the most egalitarian relationship.
-They are horrendously uninvolved parents. Their kids (Silver and Mars, who was originally named "Copper") were largely raised by nannies and whoever else was around. Giovanni and Ariana sometimes showed up for the fun parts of parenting, Ariana less so because she enjoyed it less, but that was it. On the bright side, Giovanni never pushed Team Rocket on the kids unless they seemed interested. To him, it was more important that Team Rocket be handed off to someone who wanted it rather than just any blood family member. They did, however, instill Giovanni's ideas of power and the world being dog-eat-dog into them.
-When their kids left after Giovanni's disappearance, they reacted less as though loved ones had disappeared and might be in danger and more as though a project of theirs hadn't worked out. They searched for a short while but gave up quickly and moved on even quicker.
