All Bark and No Bite : Meet the pack

Helloooooo! Welcome to my new series titled All Bark and No Bite. Before the series officially begins I want to give a quick overview of the SKZ pack members and their roles within the pack! This is how I view the pack dynamics working and my own personal thoughts. I have sorted them based on where I think they would fall. I have also included what tendencies I think some of them would have. I am also including a small background for the story. Please let me know your thoughts as well! I’d love to discuss :)

Background info: This story takes place in an alternate universe where people eventually present as one of three presentations: Alpha, beta and omega. Omegas are incredibly rare and many people have never even seen an omega in their lives. The new tradition is if an alpha does get an omega then that Omega does become the packs, though they will mainly ‘belong’ to the main alpha of the pack. Due to the submissive nature of the omegas this has turned many alphas and betas very misogynistic.

Bang Chan aka Chris -Pack Main Alpha 

Chris is the head alpha of the SKZ pack. He is strong willed and carries the weight of the world on his shoulders. Head of the pack and also unofficial head of the neighboring town has taken its toll on Chan mentally and emotionally. He is known as a strong leader who would and has done anything to protect his people. Other packs have heard of him and know better than to challenge him… Mostly anyways. The stupid few usually don’t make it home after coming for Chan. He is used to obedience and expects it in all aspects.

Lee Minho -Beta 

Minho can be hard to read sometimes, he gives off such a serious vibe but once you get to know him and how he interacts with the pack it’s clear he really cares for them. Minho is very blunt and will tell you exactly how he sees it. Even though he’s a beta he is still Chan's second in command in the pack. Minho is often there to remind Chan that he’s allowed to be a human and not a machine. Main cook for the pack. 

Seo Changbin -Alpha 

The main muscle (other than chan) of the pack. He takes pride in his strength and his ability to protect the pack as well as offer a shoulder to cry on. Changbin is often the one the pack goes too when they are down and just need a hug. According to them he gives the best hugs. Also really good for a laugh as he never stops joking around. 

Hwang Hyunjin -Beta 

Hyunjin is a true romantic through and through. When he’s not helping out at home with the pack you could usually find him painting out in a field somewhere or in town helping the townsfolk. He can often be found running errands for the elderly in town. He is a true artist and loves to do portraits of his fellow pack mates. 

Han Jisung -Beta with Omega tendencies

Precious Hannie, always so helpful and supportive. It was a surprise to his family he didn’t present as an omega growing up given how submissive he can be. He just wants to please the people he cares about! He can be a little introverted and shy around new people but once he warms up to you he never stops talking or joking around. Sunshine boy :) 

Lee Felix -Beta Omega tendencies 

Felix is another ray of sunshine for the pack. He is very dainty like a fairy and dances around like one too, despite his deep voice! His bubbly personality is contagious and anyone he meets is enamored by him. He can often be found in the kitchen baking during the day and singing along to whatever song is stuck in his head. Sometimes the pack wonders how he didn’t end up an omega. 

Kim Seungmin -Beta with Alpha tendencies 

This boy is very smart and is one of Chan's right hand men in the pack. He pays attention better than anyone else to small details and is good with strategy. He can come off as aloof and rude when you don’t know him yet, but once his shell is broken through he is actually a very caring person. He always tries to do right by his pack and would stop at nothing to protect them. 

Yang Jeongin -Alpha 

The youngest member of the pack and newest to present as an Alpha. He is very easy going and doesn’t have many responsibilities yet as he’s still trying to find himself as an alpha. He really looks up to the other members, especially Chan as he is a prime example of who Jeongin wants to become. The least experienced of the pack. One thing about him is he is very quick on his feet and even though he is young he knows he would die for the pack’s safety.

maybe you're fighting, maybe he got stressed and said something in the heat of moment, whatever it is, he's immediately forgotten about what he was mad about and he's by your side, floods of apologies coming from his mouth and gloved hands taking yours

he just kinda pulls you into his chest and holds you for a moment and my GOD he wants the world to swallow him up because he loves you more than anything in the world and he normally hates whoever makes you cry but right now it's him

truth is, you know din and you know that he would never do anything to intentionally hurt you so as far as apologies go, it's one you accept pretty quickly

he's gonna apologise for like a week after that

even if it becomes annoying

poe just sort of freezes and has this "oh fuck" look on his face

"oh god, don't cry. please don't cry. did i make you cry? oh my god. i made you cry."

and then he probably starts crying too

because he always wants to cry when you cry but the fact that he's the one responsible for it? woo boy

he swallows it down though and doesn't let you see because he doesn't want to seem like he's taking away from what he's done

his immediate reaction is to want to hug you, but he waits for a moment to see if you'll let him because he doesn't know if you're gonna swing at him tbh

if you let him, he holds you fucking tight. he doesn't apologise then and there, though, not until things have calmed down - normally a few moments later - that he says sorry and you know it's from the bottom of his heart

he goes out his way over the next few days to make it up to you; flowers, dinner, a romantic trip to a distant planet, but above all, he makes an active effort to never let it happen again

and that's what matters most

finn

honestly finn looks like a kicked puppy

because he tries so hard to never argue with you or get mad EXACTLY FOR THIS REASON and he has failed in his attempts and oh lord he wants to die

he doesn't jump immediately to apologising, mostly because he wants you to say what you need to say and he doesn't want to talk over you

and he listens!! he wants to know what he did and what he said so that it never happens again

then he apologises, and it's always straight to the point but still eloquent and meaningful

finn isn't gonna be the kinda guy who apologises for days (oh, din) or goes out his way to shower you in sorry gifts (ah, poe) because mostly he just wants to move on from it and get back to a good place with you but it's like...not in a way that he forgets about it??

it's more of a thing that he hates things being off with you. like it literally kills him inside. so he encourages you to both move forward and get back to the good stuff.

but he also makes it clear that he has learnt from it

han solo

han literally doesn't know what to do. he can barely handle people crying at the best of times but when a) it's you and b) you're crying because of him?

his immediate reaction is to run, because it's han and he always wants to peg it away from every single issue but his chest hurts at the idea and it hurts even more when he knows he's the bastard that made you cry

he just goes silent and is kinda 🧍‍♂️for a second because his brain is computing but then he realises that he does know what to do when you cry and that's attack the thing that upset you

then he realises that he can't do that and goes "well i can't fucking blast myself, so i don't really know what to do right now" and it's stupid and dumb and oh my god han read the fucking room but at least it breaks the ice a little bit and you smile

because, despite everything and despite han being...well, han, you know he's trying his best and the fact he's even still in front of you is actually something of a miracle

that's your cue to rip into him, by the way, because even if you're crying it is canon that the only way to get han solo to listen to you is to tear him a new one (or three) so he will stand there and take the bollocking

after that, he apologises. han isn't good with words so it's a little bit spacey and awkward but the intent is there

but he also makes it abundantly clear that he never means to hurt you and you know, from the bottom of his heart, that he means it

luke skywalker

luke literally stops in his tracks and he's holding you immediately and going "i didn't mean that, i really didn't mean that, please don't hate me"

literally his entire facade his gone - the stubbornness, whatever he's arguing about - just disappears and he realises immediately that none of it is worth making you cry

so the man is literally holding you before your tears even start and he's already apologising over and over

he does want to listen to you though and hear what you have to say, so he's all ears

tbh, it's hard to stay angry at luke for long because you know he's completely pure intentioned and good hearted but you can absolutely opt to give him the silent treatment or take space for as long as you need and he will let you do it

after that, he buys you flowers and will make it up to you in every way he knows how

obi-wan kenobi

out of everyone on the list, obi-wan is the one who is the most shooketh to his core when he realises that he's made you cry

because he's so chivalrous and loving and might as well live to serve you so the idea that he's hurt you is quite possibly his greatest fear come true

his immediate reaction is to give you space. he'll apologise first and let you know that he's ready to talk whenever you are, simply because he doesn't want to overstep or push you to make up until you're ready

but as soon as you are, he's all ears and listening to everything you have to say

again - and i feel like i'm saying this for every character here lol - you know that he'd never hurt you intentionally and although that's the main, the proof is in the pudding when he actively listens to you and makes an effort to avoid it happening again

Can I ask, why do you love BL romance better than het romance? What makes them better? I did not mean anything negative, and I know everyone have their own like and dislike but I want to know your thoughts....

Also what do you think that made Asian MLM (BL manga/manhwa/manhua/tv series/movies) romances better than western MLM romances?

Hello! Yes you are more than welcome to ask :) I truly, truly love getting asks in my inbox and have been having so much fun with the fact I’ve actually been getting some recently! Warning this is long (but i have TL;DRs for everything)

I think the fastest answer for me is that I am queer, and therefore I find I have a lot more enjoyment and interest in watching queer stories compared to heterosexual ones.

Also, I find a lot of heterosexual romances to be steeped in misogyny, and have low-key or high-key abusive dynamics. And again, do not get me wrong, there are plenty of queer shows where there are abusive dynamics in play, but it is much harder for misogyny to be committed between two men than it is for misogyny to be placed on a male/female pairing. (I love GLs cause, you know…women, but there are a lot more complex dynamics going in to stories written about two women and those can get much trickier for me, and unfortunately many narratives love punishing lesbains with death so.... Anyway, I’m trying to stick mostly to BLs since that is primarily what this ask is about.)

Additionally, I love BLs more than heterosexual romances because of how BLs treat men. Men in heterosexual romances, especially in the West are extremely masculine, often unable to be in touch with their emotions, jaded, misogynistic, they have to be extremely muscular, and we almost never see femme boys or men.

BLs have such a vast range of men, they have twinks, they have femmes, they have gym bros. They have the clowns, and the super masculine boys. There are shows that let boys be boys, be stupid, and stinky, and fucking gross (hey Pat from Bad Buddy), they let boys be angry and aggressive and express their emotions that way (Sean and Yok’s fight in Not Me, Han Baram and Im Hantae’s conversation in the boxing ring in Sing My Crush, Lom and Nuea in The Wedding Plan, Patts in La Pluie), they let boys fight and wrestle and play (Bad Buddy, My School President, Moonlight Chicken, Only Friends). I love queer stories that let men be gay and ensure through the story that that never undermines their masculinity. I love that there are shows that focus on the progress older men can make in their relationships (What Did You Eat Yesterday?) THEY ARE ALSO ALLOWED TO CRY!!!!

And though it is still kind of rare, Asian BLs actually do have femme boys, and while I am sure femme boys exist in Western shows, I think Pose and fucking Glee are like…the only two shows with queer people that I have seen in the last decade that have an femme boy representation at all. On the flip side, I love how often GMMTV puts their boys in drag and that doesn’t even have to be in a queer show. I also generally love the fact that most of the male actors in Asian BLs, and again, especially in Thailand embrace their femme sides in photoshoots and whatnot, that they wear earrings, and jewelry, and makeup and they look hot as fuck, because it helps me with my own gender identity. I feel and see myself much more masculine (and have less dysphoria) when I have an earring or a necklace or makeup on, now that I have seen so many boys do the same. 

TL;DR: I am queer, and heterosexual romances are frequently misogynistic, and men are extremely masculine and rarely allowed to be soft. Asian BLs give us a very broad range of masculinity, but often let boys be boys while also kissing boys. And actors embracing their femme sides helps me feel more masculine when I lean in to my femme side.

As for Asian MLM romances compared to Western MLM romances, obviously this is not a cut and dry thing, not all Asian BLs are going to be better than Western BLs but I find I have a tendency to enjoy Asian BLs/queer media more for a few reasons, generally in order of most to least important for me:

Reason One- Family

This may seem somewhat surprising because the first, and honestly biggest reason I tend to like Asian BLs more than Western BLs has much less to do with the queer aspect. It's actually the family dynamics. I think Western media very frequently has a tendency to be very binary in their portrayal of family dynamics, if family is at all included in Western narratives the relationships that characters have to their family is either almost wholly good, or almost wholly bad. You either have a very abusive household that a character is trying to avoid or flee, or you have a traditional, happy, nuclear family, and when characters have a strained relationship to their family, I have noticed a lot more narrative support for leaving that family behind. But for the most part, family does not play a huge role in most Western shows (and, wild concept to me, it’s part of why I think shows like Succession are so successful, because that is all about complex, fucked up, and loving relationships within a family). 

Whereas, in Asian media, far more frequently family and family dynamics play a huge role in the character’s lives, behaviors, and can influence the story. And because filial piety is such an important aspect to many Asian cultures, you get a lot more interesting parent/child relationships out of Asian media than you do with Western content. And I am a white Westerner, but I am fundamentally, culturally a Southerner and despite no longer being a woman, I will never shed the mantle of Eldest Daughter. And that has resulted in a sense of family responsibility and piety that ends up making it very very easy for me to understand the motivations of the characters that remain loyal to their family even when their family is asking for things from them that run counter to their own desires or happiness (I’ve actually had this conversation a lot with @waitmyturtles about the intersections of Southern culture and Asian culture).

And similarly, I find that a lot of Western media with queer characters at least in the time frame that I have been able to find content with queer characters is either wholly homophobic, or wholly accepting. And do not get me wrong, we get family dynamics like that in Asian BLs too, but we also get parents who are upset about their child’s queerness, and will voice that, and yet who still take care of their children. I’m thinking of the film I watched just the other day called Margarita with a Straw where the main character’s mother can barely look or talk to her daughter when she comes out, but because she is disabled, her mother is still there preparing food for her, bathing her, etc. because even if she is upset about her child’s queerness she can’t stop taking care of her. And those aren’t dynamics I often see in Western media. 

I don’t see relationships like Sawismol and Wang in Western media, where a mother can look at her child and say, out loud that she is disappointed, and to be upset, and to still, despite everything, be the person that her son goes to for comfort when he is absolutely devastated, and I don’t see Western parents sitting there and performing that comfort even when they are disappointed in their children’s queerness.

TL;DR: Family dynamics feel a lot more built out, realistic, and complex in many Asian BLs/media that I’ve seen, than they do in many Western shows. Until I started watching Asian media, I had not seen the dynamics I have with my mother or my father played out on screen. 

Reason Two- Casual Trans Inclusion 

And, as a trans person myself, part of what makes Asian BL shows, Thai shows much more specifically, so important, interesting, and influential to me when compared to Western BLs is the casual inclusion of trans people. Like, that is just something Western media is barely ready for. It’s not non-existent. We have and have had shows like The Fosters, Sense8, Pose, The Owl House, and Heartstopper that have some trans rep. But a lot of those shows have a hefty component to them that shows the struggles of being trans.

In The Fosters we have to watch Cole nearly die trying to get his hands on testosterone, in Sense8 we have to watch Nomi be kept as a medical prisoner and stripped of her autonomy and almost lobotomized, in Pose we are constantly exposed to the very real dangers that trans women of color experience including murder, in Heartstopper we are spared from having to witness the transphobia Elle went through, but it is mentioned. I think the only one of these shows that doesn’t have some element of struggle because a character is trans is The Owl House and let us not forget that Raine Whispers goes through fucking hell in that show. And these conversations, and the demonstrations of struggle to just survive and thrive despite that is vitally important in a society that is pushing closer and closer towards genocide against trans people. Stories that show the struggles of trans people exist for the sake of realism but also serve as an attempt to try to garner empathy towards trans people by cisgender viewers. 

Thailand does have stories where a trans character experiences transphobia (3 Will Be Free, The Warp Effect, Secret Crush on You), but they also have so many stories where trans people are literally just vibing. Do you know how revolutionary it was for me when I watched KinnPorsche and saw Yok, and she was happy, and beautiful, and fun, and her entire plot centered around her running that bar, flirting with boys, and playing surrogate mother to Porsche? Or just to see trans women existing, who aren’t even central to the plot, but are just there? (Payu’s secretary at the auto shop is a trans woman, Golf Tanwarin was at the inclusive cafe in The Eclipse, Golf Kittipat had an illustrious career as a music producer in My School President). Like that shit is SO important to me, and I never, never see it in Western media. 

TL;DR: There are many Thai shows especially where trans people just exist, and they have plots that aren’t always centered around them being trans. Which is revolutionary, coming in as a trans Western viewer where the majority of trans rep in Western shows makes me eventually have to watch trans people suffer. 

Reason Three- Passion Projects

The film industry is huge and pervasive in Western culture, and in the US especially, and with that comes big budget projects that stretch out as long as they can squeeze a cent out of a fan base. As a result you get shows that are too long, you get shows that ruin their premise in the last season after five to fifteen years of dragging the shambling corpse of a story along. And again, do not get me wrong, there are plenty plenty of Asian BLs that are cash grabs, that are terrible, where the actors aren’t really in it. But, most BLs in Asia are one season, they get in, they get out, and you forget it if it’s bad, or you hate it forever if it’s objectively bigoted. But the time commitment to terrible pieces is a lot shorter. 

That said, when you have a low budget, and a story you want to tell, it makes my love so much more. Because it means the crew, the writers, the director, and often time the actors are there because they want to be there, because they like the story they are telling, because they have a story they want to tell. It’s part of why I love shows like The Eclipse so much, because that show was made with a budget mainly comprised of pocket lint and hope, because Golf Tanwarin had something they wanted to say.  Most if not all of Aof Nopparnach’s shows give genuinely, inherently queer stories that speak to queer people. Jojo Tichakorn makes pieces that are so full of queer lenses you could never deny the inherent queerness in his shows, even if the story is primarily focused on a straight person/relationship (Mama Gogo). There are so many shows in the Asian BL world where you can just tell that everyone is having fun. LIsten, Fish Upon the Sky is an extremely problematic show, but for me it felt like everyone had a great time goofing off on that set. You can tell EV-ER-Y-BOD-Y in the cast of Mama Gogo  was having the time of their motherfucking lives. 

I also think the West is very self-congratulatory and tends to hold themselves as the standard of televisions and acting, when I am over here watching Asian BLs with some of the strongest acting from young people I have ever seen, and having it be written off because its a) low budget b) gay and c) in another language. Like, when I try to get people in to BL I start with shows like KinnPorsche (which I know drives @bnegiyo mad) cause it has a much higher production value than many other Asian BLs without being prestige and therefore can’t radically alter the perception of what BL is (hello ITSAY/IPYTM and 180 Degrees), Thai BLs especially. And I figure that is the only way to show someone the level of absurdity and camp that comes from a lot of BLs, while also maintaining their interest because it has a higher production value, so that if they end up enjoying that they are more willing to watch the low budget shows. 

TL;DR: Many Asian BLs are pretty low budget, compared to like any Western show, which I find to mean we have more stories in Asian BL that people actually want to tell. (there are still very many shows that people seem to just kinda show up for, or get bored with partway through [looking at you Tee] but.)

I have watched 81 in roughly the last year, and there are so many more on my Plan to Watch list, and there are more coming out all the time. The West has given me like…two, maybe three. And when we do get good queer shows in the West, they are frequently canceled before completion. Especially if they are on Netflix. 

We lost Sense8, fans had to fight for Out Flag Means Death to get renewed, The Owl House got cancelled by Disney after giving their main character a girlfriend, ND Stevenson had to write two ending to She-Ra and fought tooth and fucking nail to get the gay one, Legend of Korra had to save the gay kiss until the end just like She-Ra had to. If you want to get depressed here is a link to an article ‘50 TV shows with Lesbian, Bisexual, and Queer characters cancelled after one season’. Because most Asian BLs are meant to be only one season, we actually get complete stories, rather than ending with unresolved tension, or cliffhangers. 

TL;DR: there is a metric fuck ton of Asian BLs

Reason Five- Sex

The West, especially the US, tends to have a very puritanical view of sex (which makes sense because the Puritans were some of the first colonizers…I mean colonials…to murder everyone and occupy…uh, I mean settle the United States (I would also like to place blame on the Italians and Spanish [hey Columbus] and their Catholicism AND PROTESTANT CALVINISM that also influenced the pervasive societal views of sex and especially gay sex in the United States).  

With ever increasing homophobia and transphobia, so many shows are trying, in my own personal opinion, to garner empathy, sympathy, and acceptance for queer characters by cisgender and/or heterosexual viewers by making their queer characters flat, two-dimensional, virginal, perfect people. But homophobes and transphobes consider holding hands to be just as grotesque and inappropriate as full on porn. With Western, and especially US based, views of sex, many queer characters are sanitized, sex scenes are rare, and if they do exist at all they are usually in shows that have mature ratings. 

That is not the case with Asian BLs. Like, do not get me wrong, there are plenty of pure, virginal, don’t kiss, barely touch BLs out there, but because there are so many BLs, there are also plenty of shows with lots of physical intimacy and multiple make out scenes that aren’t maturely rated, as well as plenty of maturely rated shows that have multiple sex scenes AND CAN INCLUDE KINK WHICH LIKE!!!!! I rarely see in the Western media I’ve watched. Hell, Sense8 is a sexual liberation show that includes multiple orgies, but there is not even a hint of any other kink (besides whatever Dani, Lito, and Hernando have going on).

Meanwhile, The Warp Effect has fucking puppy play, Bed Friend has pet play, Laws of Attraction which has a couple pretty chaste kisses shows handcuffs to at least imply kink, there’s a ball gag and a fucking leash in Big Dragon, I haven’t seen it but Unforgotten Night has a lot of BDSM themes in it, Rain and Payu have a dom/sub dynamic going on, we have daddy kinks abound, I also haven’t seen this one but I know there is some belt bondage in War of Y. And even if it isn’t shown, kink and bondage specifically are often referenced in passing in shows with sex.

Also, there are very very very few Western shows I have seen that treat sex workers kindly, and Jojo Tichakorn is right there giving us sex workers as main characters multiple times in a row. Taiwan has great physical chemistry, the very few things I have seen from the Phillipines are so fucking queer, Japan even when they aren’t including sex at all have some extremely queer narratives, and when they are including sex? Holy fuck. South Korea is developing, but I have liked what I’ve seen so far, and it’s been fun seeing very rapid progressions in the level of physical intimacy characters are allowed to have, Thailand has been making a name for itself.  

TL;DR: There is a very broad range of physical intimacy in Asian BLs from no sex to lots of sex, but the abundance of content means I am seeing more shows with gay sex in them in like…a month or two, than shows I have seen in the West with gay characters at all in like…the past year. (This is of course, subjective, don’t ask me for real numbers). 

And, you know, in case this response wasn’t long enough, the amount of queer content, the types of stories being told, the rapid and continued development of BL is super interesting to observe in its own right. Sure, it may be driven by marketability and sales, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some truly important, realistic, vital, and beautiful pieces of queer media being created and shared with the world, a lot of which is much more accessible to audiences than Western media. I go heavy on the Thai shows in part because they are available for free on YouTube. 

I also think the West seems to think that having gay marriage is the be all, end all of queer inclusivity, and that they do not realize that countries without gay marriage are creating some of the most realistic queer content out there right now. The West has a lot it can learn from Asian BLs, but in my opinion, we’ve got our heads too far up our asses to be following their lead.

met bruno from encanto who commented on her. we talked about our rodent friends he was very nice. he said he brought "all 200" of his rats with him and wanted to help feed them and knows mickey is a big mouse so maybe we could ask him. i said we could just steal some food. varian got mad

went over to see sid from toy story because he seemed like a mean little bitch. he was a mean little bitch. i may have said that his creations could use a little work but thats no reason for him to say "your mouse needs a little work" and "i hope you kept the receipt".... cunt

laughing about how mother gothel was no longer part of the characters to meet. "they killed her forever this time" etc etc

we went to this thing called villain's grove which was a bunch of light and effects n stuff through their little forest area. it was mostly a cool immersive experience so most of the footage is on the Lights And Effects Themselves but here's a few of us that look cool lol. gay tunnel (maybe not) (that segment was themed after frollo)

met hans from frozen. we absolutely had no clue he was going to be there it was pretty funny. you may guess that my friend @kristoffs-lullaby (varian cosplayer) is a frozen enjoyer. so we hopped in line to see him

hans asked if varian's alchemy balls were some sort of magic or enchantment and you'll Never guess what varian responded with

though explaining its alchemy and science and all that didnt really make him feel better. he even asked if its something that would be in danger of bringing in an "eternal winter". varian did not like that :)

saw dr. doofenshmirtz (?) i didnt watch that show. he was pretty fun to meet though. i know some people dont like his creepy ass design, but i do, its fun and weird to me. he wanted to collaborate with me and varian since we're scientists. really funny to have him say "i'll have my people call your people". a possible strange message that rapunzel will get later /j

also encountered hades. though our friend @iammisswow was with us and so i had him focus on her since shes a big hercules fan. the visual was hugo getting this scary man's attention to be put on someone else by calling her out. it worked obviously. "oh SHE is a HUGE fan of hercules"

madam mim from sword in the stone didnt really have as big of a crowd so we actually talked with her a pretty good amount. shes SO fun. lots of discussion about magic vs science and how she thinks knowledge is stupid. you can imagine how we of all people felt when she said "KNOWLEDGE is not power, MAGIC is power". she also liked olivia (she thought she was a familiar)

meeting judge doom from roger rabbit was kind of scary LOL. very intimidating man. but his area had vats of chemicals and all that so you can imagine we had fun with that. WE can be trusted. obviously.

nervously just nodding our heads as judge doom tells us to come to him if we have any information regarding where "that rabbit is" (we are not doing that)

and also we saw ernesto de la cruz from coco. we were actually able to catch him right as he started performing which is rad but i dont actually have any interactions to tell u about here it was bad ass though

and, unbeknownst to Hugo (as in i also didnt know about this), varian had a surprise for him. he had a whole... horribly genuine and flustery spiel to say about messing around in his lab and all that and made something for hugo. which was a necklace with a piece of colored glass-like material (teal) in the shape of a heart. hugo handled that whole situation really well (lie)

ANYWAYS ! that's it. i've mentioned before but Disneyland Trips will be retired really soon since I'm not too fond of a lot of their wack shit right now, but wanted to share some of the last bit of enjoyable times to be had there before that happens

Imagine Bi-Han’s S/O and Tomas sharing a strong sibling(in law) bond, they became their other half who enjoyed sharing their one braincell. I just thought it would be funny and that Tomas is fun to get along with.

I can definitely see that! I have written a few headcanons about Bi-Han's s/o and Tomas interacting (like finding the ocelot named Jia), as well as ones with Kuai Liang. I go into their relationship more here, but I am happy to go more in depth with Tomas and Bi-Han's s/o. I just wrote for fem. reader because it was a bit easier that way and I got less tongue-tied, but it can be read from any angle.

Bi-Han's S/O and Tomas' Relationship

Bi-Han's s/o usually keeps him in check when it comes to his brothers, especially Tomas.

She knows that Tomas is mostly targeted by Bi-Han's rage, especially for no reason. So, she does her best to keep Bi-Han's comments to a minimum.

Tomas always shrugs Bi-Han's rude comments off, but he is happy to know that someone else cares and wants to change it.

Kuai Liang steps in, but he definitely does not do it as often.

Only when Bi-Han is being extremely cruel.

Tomas is the brother that is absolutely down to go out and anywhere of her choice. He is just happy to be out and get a break from the Arctika.

He knows that it is their home, but it is never wrong to get a break every once in a while, right?

They tend to go out as often as possible, and sometimes Kuai Liang will join! It just depends, he is a bit of a homebody.

Tomas takes her out to Madame Bo's often and they definitely get special treatment.

Liu Kang's champions were not informed that Bi-Han had married, so they assumed she was Tomas' s/o.

Tomas did get a little embarrassed and had to tell them that she was Bi-Han's wife. And Johnny was in complete shock.

How could anyone marry the Ice King? (hehe)

Sometimes they will get mistaken for being a couple when they are out somewhere, but they learned to just ignore it.

They don't tell Bi-Han just in case he does get angry and puts a stop to their outings.

But Bi-Han trusts Tomas and his s/o, and he knows that his wife deserves a break from the Arctika. It can be endearing sometimes, and he understands this.

However, he knows how stupid they can be, and that's what can worry him a bit.

One time, Tomas had accidentally told a lady congratulations on being pregnant when she wasn't, and he was nearly skinned alive.

Y/N thought it was absolutely hilarious as Tomas was berated and they both had to run in the alley way in order to escape the angry woman.

They both still laugh about it to this day.

"I would have made the same mistake! I really thought she was." She had told Tomas, so he felt less bad.

Tomas does like the chisme, so if Bi-Han's s/o has any info about the champions or people they know, he wants to hear about it.

There have been many late-night tea times when Bi-Han was swamped with work, and they have both stayed up late talking about other people.

Kuai Liang is not a big chismoso like Tomas, but sometimes he will join.

Tomas is down for spa days, and they will both do face care and meditate together.

When dealing with Bi-Han, it is definitely needed.

Tomas has painted her toes before, and he slathered them with nail polish.

It was like a bad art project, and it made a horrific mess.

Her and Tomas both have a habit of finding random animals, more so after they found Jia. Some of them they take in, others they can't because Bi-Han won't allow it.

An ocelot you can tame, but a bear?! He thought they were absolutely out of their minds.

They came across a baby cow one time, and Tomas was run over by its mother.

Bi-Han's s/o was worried about him, but she did fall over laughing after he got up and looked like he had seen a ghost.

"Her udders were in my face!"

That did not help her laughter.

One time, a cockroach scurried near them, and they were both sent into a screaming mess.

Tomas was full on screaming like a girl. Bi-Han was pissed at first until he saw what it was.

Because they interrupted his work, he left them there to wail about the cockroach that was nearing them.

Kuai Liang had to set it free outside for them to calm down.

Bi-Han did not get laid that night.

Revealing these questions at D23 is a good signal for Frozen 3 & 4

<Coming out of Frozen 2 we still had questions, a lot of questions actually. That's just page one. Now you see why it will take two films to answer them> - Jennifer Lee

Now, we all are speculating about the direction these two new movies will lead us, but I think the most interesting aspect is how much they anticipated these questions to the audience. I won't disect them because a lot of people already did that and it would be too long for me, but still, I think it's important to consider what all this might mean.

When it came down to Frozen 2, they didn't anticipate that much to the audience until it was the D23 Expo of 2019 and for the most part they were left mostly for the interviews that these questions (here a ScreenRant article for example):

Here they decided instead to go with a 3 years anticipation about what the two movies will mostly be about. This means they have already an idea of where they are headed, at least premises wise.

I think the most important aspect here is that the questions put on stage connect back to both Frozen and Frozen 2.

F2 already did that by answering a couple of important questions connected to the first movie:

Why Agnarr and Iduna chose such an extreme course with their daughters? The trauma of what happened 34 years before in the Enchanted Forest

Where were the parents headed to which led to their deaths? They were trying to sail through the Dark Sea to reach Ahtohallan and have answers about Elsa powers

Why Elsa was born with her icy powers? As a gift because Iduna saved Agnarr's life when they were little despite being on opposite sides

In that case those were all things connected to the sisters and their parents, basically focusing mainly on the prologue part of F1.

As we can see, the Frozen 3/4 questions extend beyond Anna & Elsa, allowing other important characters like Kristoff, Sven, Olaf, Marshmallow & the Snowgies and even Hans to appear in this list. Yeah, maybe some will most likely be for fun and quickly answered (the iconic Oaken expression for example), but it doesn't sound much logical to spent two movies just to maybe make fun of some characters, that sounds pretty stupid.

I think it's clear the intention here is basically the same when they were making Frozen 2: trying to give a sense of complition and clearness to the saga as a whole, not simply introducing a new situation with new characters.

Even questions related to the ruins in Ahtohallan, the idea of a previous Fifth Spirit, getting a better understanding of Elsa's evergrowing powers and see the challenges Anna will face as Queen are all elements that most likely will allow to expand the world of Frozen beyond the Arendelle and Northuldra borders.

After all, even the Frozen 3 concept art only give us an initial idea of what we will see but, just like the F1 concept always showed at D23 shows us almost nothing about the the plot (just Anna and Elsa skating), it's not all.

Who knows, maybe we will see the Duke of Weselton again? Or the Trolls are in fact hiding something, but maybe not what people has theorized for years?

Everyone knew about Leeknow and Y/n. There was no surprise there. The way they both looked at eachother would give it off quite immediately. They were genuinely perfect for eachother but the only problem was that leeknow fed off of how vulnerable Y/n was and he enjoyed to make his life a living hell.

“Yo what’s Leeknow’s deal?” Han had pulled Y/n to the side. He quickly looked over at leeknow to see what he was talking about and there it was. On the other side of the room where Leeknow stood there was a guy, a shorter guy who was touching all over him.

“I don’t know,” Y/n shrugged and straightened his bow tie. “I really don’t know,” he frowned and looked up at Han.

“Hey, look. Don’t let this ruin our night okay? It’s our launch party. We need to have fun,” Han grabbed a glass of champagne and handed it to him. “Drink and let loose, it’s his loss anyway,”

“What would I do without you Hyung,” Y/n groaned and gave him a smile.

“I don’t know, probably be bawling your eyes out. My little baby,” he teased the younger boy by pinching his cheeks before they heard someone clearing their throat.

“Y/n. A word,” leeknow stood there with his hands tucked on both sides of his suit. His eyebrows furrowed and his posture tall and intimidating.

Y/n felt pathetic and humiliated as leeknow walked away from him. His hands wrapped around the other.

That was it. He was sick and tired of Leeknow’s acts. He was done being the used one. He was tired of Leeknow’s games. What else do to than play fire with fire? Or is it water with fire?

He made his way into the ballroom where the first person he met was their leader. Chan.

“Hey Y/nnie!” The smell of alchohol filled his nostrils. “I’m drunk,” he giggled as he spun the younger boy around.

“Oh I can tell!” He teased, “shall we get more drinks?” Y/n asked.

“Yeah totally! Here, hold my hand,” at first he was hesitant but he could sense eyes on him. Burning the back oh his head and without thinking twice he grabbed Chan’s hand.

“Did I tell you how amazing you look tonight?” Chan said. Y/n’s cheeks turned red as he wasn’t so used to compliments from him.

“Thank you Chan, you do too.” He got a wink in response before Chan talked to the waiter.

“Hey, you don’t have a chair!” Chan frowned and looked around. “You can sit on my lap right? Just as friends…Ofcourse! I mean you don’t have to if you don’t want to-“

“Yeah sure,” he giggled in response to Chan’s rumbling. It was obvious he was nervous and now Y/n was actually believing what leeknow had said about his members crushing on him.

The two ended up having a good conversation back and forth and the drinks kept coming. He was for sure 100% drunk now…maybe more than Chan at this point but he couldn’t help it.

With the stress of leeknow constantly teasing him and tabloid ms finding out about his sexuality, everything was becoming too much.

Leeknow watched from a far. He was pissed off. He was so pissed off because Y/n was his. Always his. Was this his fault? Did he chase him away? He was so focused on his every move that he forgot that his whole plan was to make Y/n jealous not the other way around but why was he turned on and frustrated.

He watched the way Y/n was sat on Chan and the way his arms were wrapped around him. It was eating him alive that he didn’t even realize the glass in his hands had shattered.

“Sir are you okay?” A waiter near by gasped in shock and he quickly helped leeknow clean up.

“Yeah yeah I’m fine,” he shrugged her off and continued to watch Y/n from a far. He looked wasted but so happy. Too happy.

“Woah what’s going on here?” Han joined Y/n and Chan’s conversation. He chuckled and looked at the two.

“Hey Hannie!” Y/n slurred and got up to give him a hug but instead tripped over into his arms getting caught.

“You’re too drunk love,” Han told the younger boy. “Should I take you upstairs?”

“Oh? Already?” He winked at Han who was already turning red. “Leeknow won’t be happy with that,” he teased. Hans hands wrapped around his waist to be able to keep him up.

“I’m going to get him a room to sober up, tell leeknow if he’s looking-“

“Oh don’t worry his walking over here right now,” Chan interrupted and pointed at a direction.

Fuck. Y/n looked at the fuming leeknow and the position he was stood next to Han and decided to make a run for it.

“Han save yourself and run, I’ll run that way!” Y/n quickly said but before Han could understand, he had dashed the other way into the crowd trying to avoid Leeknow.

“Hyung what’s going on?” Han asked leeknow who had arrived.

“I’m going to punish that little brat is what’s going on,” leeknow had basically removed the buckle of his belt. He spotted the petit boy heading upstairs. He smirked at this. He really thought his boyfriend was that stupid? He basically had boyfriend senses.

Y/n was huffing and puffing as he closed the door behind him. He sat on the bed praying that Leeknow hadn’t seen him enter that room.

He let out a tiny sigh of relief but that was taken away when the door was broken into. Quite literally.

“What did I tell you princess?” Leeknow growled. His eyes were dark and full of last. He walked over to Y/n before lifting him with one hand and roughly kissing him.

“I don’t want to talk to you right now leeknow,” he frowned because he was still hurt from Leeknow’s little shenanigans from before.

“Yeah but guess what, you still mine and I don’t like the way you were acting out there,”

Mk1 disorder headcanons w my fav characters

(If you see smth you don't like here pls just ignore 😭 I dont want to be involved in discourse) (also please do not demonize any of the disorders that are shown ty)

Johnny Cage: BPD + Audhd

Due to his childhood with his dad and early Hollywood career, he developed bpd. His entire childhood he was petrified of his mom leaving, and leaving him with his dad, as she almost had a few times. His early career as an actor left him becoming erratic due to some experiences and ended up doing a lot of stupid things during episodes. He gets attached really easily but tries not to show it and fails MISERABLY. This also means he mentally and emotionally distances himself from people really really fast. He's really, really scared of people leaving him behind and it's utterly exhausting for him, he'll self-sabotage just so that he isn't the one being 'abandoned'. With the nature of his career and the standards that come with it, being exposed to it young was like his own personal heaven and hell because the rejection was like dying and the praise was like being high. His special interest is history and gets very passionate about it ^_^

Kenshi: CPTSD + Quiet BPD + Autistic

Kenshi growing up in the Yakuza....witnessed a lot of shit since he was a little kid. He only got to be a normal kid for a very short amount of time before he was groomed by his family to become a Yakuza member. His PTSD comes from many events like his parents dying, hurting people and getting hurt, various violent events and loss of identity as his own person....instead of expressing his frustrations, he internalised it as a way to protect himself. When he met Suchin she kinda broke him out of dissociation and helped him understand he is actually a person. He continued to have dissociation issues but now that he had support from someone he trusted, he was finally able to do some normal people stuff with her and he finally started seeing a future where he was free. However years later in the midst of freeing himself he made a few mistakes which caused Suchin to distance herself from him which hit him kinda hard. He doesn't know how to unmask but being around Johnny has gotten him to relax a little bit and enjoy the little things (like movies)

Takeda: DID + BPD + Autistic (same for MkX)

Takeda having DID was actually my first headcanon for a mk character....I don't really have any canon evidence for it (it's mostly just projecting onto a character I see myself in) other than the fact he's been through a lot of very traumatic events canonically as seen in the comic. For BPD in MkX, it would come from Suchin dying then Kenshi leaving. in Mk1 Id assume something like emotional neglect from his "parents" (not Kenshi or Suchin; teen parents au believers hi xd) I haven't gotten too much into it for Mk1 but I'm #1 system Takeda believer ☝️ (just an edit for mk1 Takeda having DID, I think he could have developed it as a way to subconsciously protect himself from all the violence . he distanced himself from the reality of it which is why he ended up "enjoying" his life in the yakuza)

I hope this post reaches you anyway and please excuse the long wait! You'll hopefully understand once you see how lengthy this got dsjhdfjs This is the post referred to, my second-ever post about Thai language in Thai QL, from over a year ago :o

Lemme first page @airenyah though hehe feel free to chime in if I missed or glossed over anything~ I quickly had to realize btw that there was no point in asking you for timestamps since I had completely forgotten they'd moved SIMM over to VIKI 🙃

Disclaimer, as per usual: not a native Thai speaker! I am very much still learning 🙏

In the beginning and all the way into at least ep. 7, they use rude familiar pronouns กู /guu/ & มึง /meung/ (=I & you) and rude informal particles วะ /wa/, เว้ย /woei/ etc. same as all of their friends!

In the Freshy Boy promo vids they both talk about how they'd speak to a partner:

"If you had a partner, how would you refer to yourself?"

They both say they'd call themselves by name, instead of using a 1st pers. pronoun. It can indicate familiarity and sounds cute. Daonuea emphasizes that 'Dao' is reserved for people who are special to him (both being referred to as 'Dao' by others as well as calling himself 'Dao' as a 1st pers. pronoun).

"And what would you call your partner?"

The misunderstanding about Daonuea's brother Fah being his boyfriend stems from how they talk to each other - same as how everyone assumes that Kluen and Gia are dating! Both the brothers and the besties (who are like siblings to each other anyway) call each other and themselves by name, just as both of them said they'd do with a partner.

Every relationship and pair of siblings is different of course. For context, the brothers in Last Twilight for example also have a large age gap but use กู /guu/ & มึง /meung/ with each other, disregarding seniority. Others yet again may call the older one พี่ /phi/ (=lit. older sibling) while the younger one speaks politely, like Ongsa and her older sister in 23.5.

Apart from pronouns, there's also the matter of particles. Earlier I said that KluenDao start out using impolite particles. But with Fah and Gia, who they're close to, they use other particles. Here's an instance of Kluen using polite particle ครับ /khrap/, expressing sweet politeness, and Gia replying using another particle:

- ครับเจีย /khrap Gia?/ - หันหลังหน่อยจ้าา /han lang naawy jaaa/

The particle จ้า /jaa/ (or จ้ะ /ja/ and จ๊ะ /ja/ actually) is a bit difficult to explain but I'm gonna try 🫠 It's mostly used by people more senior/older for younger people/juniors. If the addressee is close to or related to the speaker, you might hear them use it back in response, affectionately. In Thai QL, you'll hear it used this way by parents or grandparents when talking to their kids and their kids' friends, for example:

Kluen's mom to Daonuea: จ้ะ /ja/

Between equals, be it friends, partners etc., it can similarly 1) express closeness and familiarity but it can also be used 2) teasingly or sarcastically:

Sean: ชนะใจเพื่อนกูนี่แหละจ้าาาาา /cha na jai pheuuan guu nee lae jaaaaa/

Emphasizing the vowel length like Gia (and Sean!) does up there, is why the translation choice came out to 'will you?', it gives a bit of?? attitude?? basically. Polite particles like ครับ /khrap/ can be used that way too, in fact, you hear the gang in Star in My Mind do so a lot. You could compare this use of particles to how you can sound teasing or condescending in English when saying something overly polite to someone you're close to like 'And what exactly are you doing there, miss?' or 'Yes, sir!'

Daonuea also uses polite particle ครับ /khrap/ with Fah sometimes, to play up the cute baby bro mostly lol Here for example he's trying to get his brother to come watch the contest by basically doing อ้อน /aawn/:

Tough luck that Kluen's timing is always the absolute worst lmao so he came in right when Daonuea turned up the sweetness compared to earlier in the conversation. And Daonuea, bless his heart, confusingly only tells Kluen that Fah is his พี่ /phi/:

Literally anyone who's older qualifies as พี่ /phi/ so of course Kluen would go How is that special??? lmao It's only after the contest that Daonuea finally properly introduces Fah as his พี่ชาย /phi chaai/ = older brother.

So! At that point, no one but Fah gets to call Daonuea 'Dao', everyone else calls him 'Nuea' or 'Daonuea', including Kluen of course. He does (at least once) call him 'Dao' though, that night the gang get shit-faced drunk in their dorm and everyone but Kluen is passed out already. He calls out to Daonuea to wake him up:

มึง ดาวเหนือ ดาว ดาว /meung. Daonuea. Dao. Dao/ = [Hey] you/Dude. Daonuea. Dao. Dao.

When everything is finally getting cleared up in ep. 7, Kluen changes his way of speaking to Daonuea. He stops using rude pronouns and particles and starts referring to himself by his own name and to Daonuea by his:

คลื่นขอโทษนะ /Kluen khaaw thoht na/ = I'm sorry. คลื่นรักดาวเหนือนะ /Kluen rak Daonuea na/ = I love you.

But Daonuea doesn't switch along with Kluen, he keeps using rude pronouns and particles. Meanwhile Kluen slowly starts calling him 'Dao':

- ดาวอ่ะ นั่งทำให้คลื่นจนดึกเลย /Dao a nang tham haai Kluen jon deuk loei/ = You sat doing [this] for me until late. - จำไม่ได้วะมึง /jam mai dai wa, meung/

And here I'll just use a clip cause otherwise we'll be here for another 30 screenshots lol Please take note of how Dao still calls Kluen ไอ้คลื่น /ai Kluen/ (= informal, like the entire gang call each other) and uses rude informal particles วะ /wa/ and นะเว้ย /na woei/ as well as rude pronouns but--

He agrees to Kluen asking to be boyfriends by referring to himself as 'Dao' in the line "Thank you, too, for loving me":

In ep. 8, we start hearing Daonuea use their new pronouns more confidently when they're talking at Fah's condo with Kluen lying on Daonuea's lap again. “Sorry… have we met?”

Chan’s smile falters a little, his eyebrows stitching together in confusion before he lets out a chuckle and shakes his head, “Ha-- funny, Y/N,” he says as he rolls his eyes at you, “I even brought out the stupid 90’s bucket hat you told me to never wear.”

What the hell was up with this guy?  

You looked across Chan, shaking your head and closing your eyes, “I’m sorry, what?” Your arms drop from up by the register screen and rest by your waist as you scrape out the underside of your nails anxiously.

Chan takes off the hat and looks at it in his hands, and you watch him look at it before he points at his hair, “Honestly, I’m surprised how easy it was to talk with you yesterday, because I just…” You watch him reach behind his head and rub his neck as he trails off and hisses as he takes in a breath, “I thought you were so pretty and while I was making music I couldn’t help but think about you the whole time--”

“Okay… uhm that’s pervy--” You let out a laugh, stunned and in complete disbelief at what he had just admitted to you, “I think you need to leave.” You crossed your arms over your chest as you looked at Chan with a bit of disgust in your eyes. Okay, actually what the fuck was wrong with him? 

“What? Wait--” Chan’s eyes immediately widened, anxiety prickling through his body as he puts out his hands in defense, “No like literally making music, not-- cause we talked about it yesterday?”

“Yesterday?” You repeat to him, “I’ve never met you.” You say as you take a step back from the register and peer around your coworkers. Your mind is running a million miles an hour as Chan rambles on about paper football, music, and trashy 90’s fashion and your heart feels like it's about to beat out of your chest.

“Binnie!” You shouted over the chatter in the cafe, your eyes flickering between Chan and Changbin, “Can you come tell this guy to leave?” You ask, seeing Changbin step between you and the register, you see Changbin’s eyes flicker with something that looks like realization.

“Yeah I got this. Go ahead and go on your break Y/N,” Changbin smiles at you warmly, resting a hand on your shoulder as he ushers you off. A sense of relief washes over you as you back away from the register and retreat into the backroom.

After you were long gone, Changbin looks over at Chan with a heavy sigh. “Come on,” Changbin waves Chan to follow him to the empty table near the back of the cafe. A heavy sigh exit’s Changbin’s body as he leans against the edge of the table and nods for Chan to sit with him. As they settle into their seats, the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee fills the air.

"Chan," Changbin begins, his tone serious, "I need to talk to you about Y/N. There's something you should know."

Chan raises his hands up in defense as he quickly tries to explain himself, "I swear I wasn’t trying to be sexual or push myself on her, I was just--"

"Y/N is special,” Changbin interrupts Chan’s rambling, “and not just because she's a good person or pretty. Y/N is my best friend, Chan and the best no-detail explanation I can give you is that she went through something…. traumatic… a while back, and it resulted in her mind shutting off her short-term memory."

Chan's expression shifts to one of surprise, absorbing the weight of Changbin's revelation. "Wait, she doesn't remember things?"

Changbin nods solemnly. "That's right. Her past is all there, every memory leading up to that day. She remembers her job, her friends, family, hobbies, passions, dislikes, likes… but any new experiences are lost each time she sleeps. She's not aware of it, and we've all been just playing along so she doesn’t panic every day.”

Chan's mind races, trying to process the information about you, “That seems… fake. Is she just not interested in me?"

Changbin furrows his brows at Chan, “Why the hell would I pull you aside just to lie to you?” Changbin says in annoyance, and his hands fall against the table as he looks up at Chan, “Look dude, I really wish I was making this up. She truly just doesn’t remember meeting you yesterday.”

Chan turns around, pressing his lips together as he looks through the window of the backroom door, then back to Changbin. Chan was at a loss for words at the moment as he chewed on his bottom lip as he absorbed the weight of your story, a sense of empathy and admiration settled within him. Changbin, ever protective of Y/N, watches Chan closely, gauging his response.

"She really doesn’t know that she’s basically living the plot of ‘Groundhog Day’?" Chan asks, a thoughtful expression on his face as he leans back in the chair, "She seemed so carefree and vibrant."

Changbin nods, his protective instincts heightened as he listens to Chan talk about her, "She's been through a lot, but some part of her mind had chosen not to remember new things anymore in order to protect itself."

Chan runs a hand through his hair, a mix of emotions playing on his features. "I can't stop thinking about our conversation. It felt... different, you know? Like there was a connection beyond the usual small talk."

Changbin's gaze intensifies, his concern evident. "Chan, I know you mean well, but you need to understand that Y/N won't remember you. No matter how much you connect or how meaningful the conversation is, it won't stick with her."

A subtle wave of disappointment washes over Chan. "So, every time we talk, it's like starting from scratch?"

Changbin nods, "Exactly. It's the reality she faces every day. She builds connections in the present, but they fade away by the time she wakes up. Why do you think I don't get mad at her for being late everyday?"

Chan sighs, grappling with the complexity of the situation. "It's just... it feels unfair, you know? To have such a meaningful conversation and then realize it's fleeting for her."

Changbin leans forward, a stern yet understanding look in his eyes. "Life isn't always fair. Y/N doesn’t even know it’s happening, so regardless if we think it’s unfair, she has no idea.”

As their conversation continues, Chan grapples with the delicate balance of forming connections in a world that can be both fleeting and unpredictable. Changbin, always the guardian of your well-being, imparts his wisdom, underscoring the importance of being present in the moments no matter how transient they may be.

You stand in the break room, peeking through the slightly ajar door at Chan and Changbin having a seemingly intense conversation. Your spidey-barista senses are tingling, and you can't help but let your imagination run wild.

What are they talking about? Did I mess up someone's coffee order? Did someone complain about my latte art? Your mind races through all the potential coffee-related disasters. But then, Chan mentions something about knowing you from the day before. The day before? Is he mistaking me for someone else? Did I accidentally give him someone else's order?

You start to play detective, trying to recall all the customers from yesterday. Let's see... there was the guy who insisted his coffee had to be exactly 180 degrees. Maybe that's Chan? But no, he doesn't strike me as a temperature fanatic. Your thoughts take a comedic turn as you picture a scenario where Chan is a secret coffee critic, grading your barista skills. Maybe he's here to rate my latte art on a scale of one to ten. Should I be flattered or terrified?

You peek your head back into the window of the breakroom to see both Changbin and CHan looking back at you before Changbin says something with a serious expression, and Chan's face shifts. Oh no, did I break a coffee machine or something? Is this a coffee-related emergency meeting? You can't help but sigh at the absurdity of your own thoughts. 

Jesus Christ-- Shut up. You're being ridiculous. They're probably just talking about, I don't know, the weather or something. 

Trying to look like you weren’t watching the two, you reach behind you and adjust the apron to fit you a better as you come out from your break. You take your break mug to the sink to rinse it out and your mind keeps spinning, trying to figure out what the hell that guy was talking about. 

There was no way you had met this guy yesterday because you didn’t even work yesterday. You took the day off because you had ended things with your ex and things just didn’t go well, thankfully Changbin was your best friend and boss so he understood your position. That guy had to’ve had you confused with someone else, because you didn’t even come out of your room to talk with your roommate yesterday let alone leave your bed.

You shook your head as you put the glass mug into a dishwasher, then standing up to find Changbin leaning against the counter.

"Hey, Y/N, everything okay?" Changbin inquires, feigning casualness.

You nod, though a lingering curiosity tugs at you. "Yeah, just wondering what that was all about. Is everything alright?"

Changbin nods, a reassuring hand on your shoulder. "Oh, it's nothing, really. I just asked that guy to leave since he made you uncomfortable."

You're touched by the gesture, a mix of gratitude and confusion playing on your features. "Thanks, Bin. But seriously who the fuck was that? Is he like-- a critic? Did I mess up something? Did I mess up his order yesterday?"

Changbin lets out a laugh, and shakes his head as he approaches the espresso machine, wiping it down with a white cloth. "No, no, not at all. Your coffee is fine, as always. I just thought you could use a breather, so I told Chan to leave, that's all."

You smile, grateful for the concern, but then your face contorts, “Chan? Is that his name?” a small knot of uncertainty forms in your stomach, "Is there something I don't know?"

Changbin pauses for a moment, choosing his words carefully. "Uh-- yeah…” He said, his eyes not wavering from the coffee machine as he polished it, “He mentioned something about knowing you from yesterday, but I told him he had the wrong person."

You furrow your brow, trying to make sense of the situation. "Knowing me from yesterday? What does that even mean? Bin, I wasn’t even here yesterday."

Changbin offers a reassuring smile, “I know,” he says, tossing the cloth over his shoulder before turning to face you with a soft sigh, hoping to divert your attention, "It's probably nothing. Just a misunderstanding. Don't worry about it, yeah?”

You decide to accept Changbin's explanation, even though it makes about as much sense as a decaf espresso at 6 AM, but you accept it nonetheless.

 Okay so-- he asked Chan to leave so I could relax. Maybe I was looking a bit stressed. Or maybe he thinks I need a coffee break so I don't accidentally start serving lattes with abstract stupid latte art.

The rest of the work day went by pretty quickly, and before you knew it your eight hour shift was up. Meaning you had the rest of your day to yourself, which you were thankful for because work was busy. The bell above the cafe door chimes as you step out, your shift finally over. The day's caffeine-fueled chaos is now behind you, you're eager to enjoy a moment of peace. As you step onto the sidewalk, you can't help but release a contented sigh in the tranquility of busy city streets.

Tranquility, as always, is short-lived.

There, leaning casually against the wall, is that guy Chan. His presence catches you off guard, and annoyance flickers in your eyes. This is not what you wanted to deal with after today.

"Didn't you leave already?" you ask, a touch of irritation in your voice.

Chan grins, seemingly unfazed by your annoyance. "Well, I thought I'd stick around. See if you're up for some company."

You raise an eyebrow, your annoyance intensifying as you stuff your hands into your coat pockets, "You waited for me? Why?"

Chan shrugs, feigning innocence, “I wanted to apologize for earlier. I guess I had you confused with someone else I met yesterday,” He says, you could tell he genuinely meant it by the way his lips pressed together and his eyes met yours. I wanted to see if I could make it up to you, I really do make music and wanted to offer to show you.”

Your irritation deepens, but something in your chest makes you feel pulled into his offer. You chew on your lip in thought,  "Chan, I appreciate the offer, but I don’t even know you."

You roll your head around before casting your gaze back onto Chan, who was smiling softly at you. It was as if he expected you to answer like that. "Then I’ll let you know me,” He says.

You shoot him a skeptical glance but eventually relent with a resigned sigh. As you start walking, you can't shake off how easily this guy just melted your annoyance. It was kind of alarming how disarming he was, but the way he smiled so genuinely made you give in..

Note to self, you think, next time someone says they're leaving, make sure they mean it. As you navigate the city streets with Chan by your side, you brace yourself for the continuation of a conversation you were hoping to leave behind at the cafe.

But it never comes.

Chan instead walks beside you, closer to the street as he guides you to his studio. Chan, ever persistent, seems genuinely interested in getting to know you. 

"So, how long have you been working at the cafe?" he asks, his tone casual.

You glance at him, the city lights reflecting in his eyes as the. "About a year now. It's been... interesting, to say the least."

He chuckles, the puffs of vapor coming out as he laughs, lightening the atmosphere. "I can imagine. I mean, the coffee shop world has its own kind of drama, right?”

You share a laugh, recalling some of the amusing incidents that have unfolded within the cafe's walls. "Oh, you have no idea. It's like a caffeinated soap opera in there sometimes. When it’s slow you get to chat with customers and they tell you all about their personal life."

As you continue walking, Chan steers the conversation toward more personal territory. "And how do you know Changbin? He seems pretty protective of you."

A smile plays on your lips at the mention of Changbin. "Changbin's been a good friend for a while, like a brother. He's the one who convinced me to try working at the cafe. Said it would be an adventure."

Chan raises an eyebrow, intrigued. "An adventure, huh? Changbin seems like he takes his guardian role seriously."

You laugh, nodding in agreement. "Oh, absolutely. He's like the caffeine-fueled big brother I never asked for. Always making sure I'm okay, checking in, and, well, occasionally being overprotective. But it comes from a good place."

Chan smirks, finding the image amusing. "Overbearing big brother, got it. I guess every coffee shop needs one of those."

You continue, painting a picture of Changbin's quirks and idiosyncrasies. "He means well, really. But sometimes, he can be a bit overbearing. Like, if a customer gives me a hard time, he's ready to unleash his wrath."

Chan chuckles, envisioning the protective barista stance. "Unleash his wrath, huh? Sounds serious. Should I be on my best behavior around Changbin?"

You playfully roll your eyes. "Nah, he's just looking out for his friends. It's part of his charm, I guess."

As you and Chan arrive at his recording studio, the atmosphere shifts from the city streets to the creative sanctuary within. The low hum of equipment and the soft glow of studio lights welcome you into Chan's world of music.

As the door swings open, You enter before Chan to see another boy lounging in a chair. He looks up from his spot, a music mixer in front of him. "Chan, god finally, I’ve been working on this all day and I need you to list-- who's this?" Han asks, casting a curious glance your way.

Chan smiles behind you, his eyes fixed on Han as we look at him wide eyed as if pleading him not to say anything stupid. "Y/N, this is Han. Han, this is Y/N, I met her at the coffee shop today."

You turn around to glance at Chan, a confused flicker in your eyes before facing Han once more, “Yes… he stopped by the coffee shop and we had an-- interesting exchange.”

You exchange greetings, and as the three of you settle into the studio space, Chan shoots a subtle glance at Han, silently signaling the need for discretion. Han, however, seems oblivious to the unspoken message. 

Han turns around in his chair from his computer to face you, and you watch his eyes squint. The cogs were turning in his head as he points at you, he takes a breath like he’s about to say something and then presses his lips together, “I thought you met her yest--”

Chan's eyes widen imperceptibly, and you shoot him a questioning look. Han's comment hangs in the air, and Chan, ever quick-witted, smoothly deflects. The awkward dance between Chan and Han unfolds, leaving you on the sidelines, a spectator that remains just out of reach to understand the whole story. The air in the studio holds a subtle tension that leaves you questioning the unspoken truths lingering beneath the surface.

"Oh, you know, I got her confused with someone else," Chan speaks quickly, before feigning nonchalance. 

Han raises an eyebrow, and his lips remain parted as he looks over at you, then back to Chan, "Ohh-kay, sure…"

You catch Chan's apologetic glances in your direction, and a flicker of confusion passes through your mind. Is there something I'm missing here? Why does it feel like they're sharing a secret that I'm not privy to?

Chan chuckles nervously, shooting you an apologetic look. "Some things are better left unspoken, you know?"

What the hell is going on between these two? Is there something specific about me that's making the air in this room so... charged?

“Uhm… Han,” You say, taking a deep inhale to try and shift the awkward tone of the studio as you slip off your coat and drape it over your arm, “You said you had something to show Chan when we got here? Mind if I eavesdrop?” 

Han glances at you, his eyes lighting up with enthusiasm. "Ah, it's a little something I've been tinkering with. Thought Chan might like it."

You nod, grateful for the chance to redirect the energy, and you slip past the coffe table and take a seat on the couch while Chan takes a seat in the other office chair.

As Han cues up the track, the room is enveloped in the beginning notes of his creation. The tension eases, replaced by the shared experience of discovering a new melody. You catch a subtle exchange of relieved glances between Chan and Han, as if they appreciate the change of topic.

The music takes center stage, filling the studio with intricate harmonies and rhythm. You find yourself nodding along, genuinely enjoying the artistry at play. After the track concludes, you turn to Han with an appreciative smile.

"Holy shit, Han," you compliment, “was that you rapping?” You ask, pointing at the computer next to him with a smile.

You see a sheepish grin sneak out to Han’s face, “Ah-- Yeah…” He spins his chair all the way around and faces you.

You, however, aren't willing to let him off the hook that easily. "Seriously, Han! You've got a unique style. It's not just about the words; it's how you deliver them. There's a rhythm and a flow that's all your own." You say excitedly, “Man, if y’all ever have your music debut, you’ll have to let me know so I can be your first official fan.”

The ambient hum of the studio equipment creates a backdrop as the three of you settle into a conversation about music, the universal language that seems to bind you together.

"I've always been fascinated by how music can transport you to a different place," you share, the genuine passion evident in your voice. "Music is really important to me, it has been for a long time."

Chan nods, understanding the sentiment and he looks at you with a knowing glance, “It’s nice to escape with music."

Chan's words echo your own sentiments, and a surprise recognition sparks within you. It's as if he's plucking thoughts directly from your mind, giving voice to the emotions you've held close.

You glance at Chan, a mixture of surprise and connection dawning in your eyes. His words resonate with your inner monologue, articulating the very essence of how music has been your escape during… that time of your life.

His first impression was admittedly awful, but he seems to be so genuine when he talks to you and it's been a long while since you’ve felt so at ease talking with people you had just met.

As the conversation in the studio flows, you find your attention drifting, your gaze unconsciously drawn to Chan. The soft glow of the studio lights plays on his features, highlighting the contours of his face. It's in these unguarded moments that you can't help but admire the subtle details – the way his eyes crinkle when he smiles, the way his expression shifts when he's lost in thought.

You watch with a soft smile, your admiration growing with each word he shares. There's an authenticity in his expression, a genuine enthusiasm that transforms the studio into a sacred space where music isn't just heard; it's felt. He really loves this, a sense of warmth enveloping you as you observe Chan's fervent gestures, his eyes gleaming with a mixture of joy and intensity. It's infectious, and you can't help but smile too as he talks about his love for music, and you can't help but be drawn into the orbit of his passion.

As Chan laughs in response to one of Han's anecdotes, you notice the way his features relax, and a genuine happiness radiates from him. He looks beautiful when he's happy, there was so much genuine happiness etched across his face as he and Han mess around. The lines that form when he smiles, the crinkles near his eyes – it's a portrait of a person in their element, and you can't help but be struck by the magnetic charm of his happiness.

Caught in the act, you suddenly realize that Chan has noticed your lingering gaze. His eyes meet yours, and there's a playful glint in them, as if he's amused by the subtle admiration you thought went unnoticed.

A warm flush creeps up your cheeks, and you quickly avert your gaze, pretending to be engrossed in the conversation. Smooth, Y/N. Real smooth.

Chan, however, doesn't let it slide so easily. A teasing smile tugs at the corners of his lips, and he gently remarks, "Caught you staring, huh?"

You can feel the embarrassment intensifying, but there's also a lightheartedness in Chan's tone that eases the tension. You play along, mustering a sheepish grin. "Well, you know, it's hard not to appreciate good company and, uh, interesting conversation."

Chan chuckles, a knowing glint still in his eyes. "Interesting conversation, huh? Is that what we're calling it now?"

You agree, appreciating the gesture. Together, you exit the studio, the city lights casting a soft glow on the sidewalks. The air is filled with the residual melodies of the night, and as you walk, a comfortable silence settles between you.

Chan takes a moment before breaking the quietude. "You know, I really enjoyed spending time with you tonight."

You turn to him, a genuine warmth in your eyes. "Likewise,” You smile, “I’m uh-- I promise I wasn't staring for the reason you think,” You laugh awkwardly.

As you reach your apartment building, Chan stops, “Oh yeah, I’m sure…” He winks, looking at you with a smirk before continuing, "You know even if we're just getting to know each other, I hope we can do it again. It was really nice to meet you."

His words linger in the air, and you find them unexpectedly touching. "I'd like that, Chan," you reply, a genuine smile forming. "Thanks for the company."

Chan bids you goodnight, watching as you enter your building. As the door closes behind you, he stands there for a moment, a mix of emotions playing on his face.

You let out a sigh and a soft smile as you walk to your apartment door, unlocking it to find your roommate standing in the kitchen as he mixes something in a large bowl.

“Who the hell was that, Y/N?” He pokes at you with a sly grin, “You’re letting guys walk you home now? Where was my invitation?” He says with a playful laugh as he looks down at the bowl. 

“Felix, I met someone.”

Patterns:

For opening lines, I like to drop the reader immediately into the scene. Most of the time I seem to use dialogue to achieve this, but sometimes I'll borrow a line from the original piece of media.

My endings are a little less consistent. I might end on the main character musing on something that happened or central theme to the story. Or I could also be a bit more open and end on some sort of dialogue that's hopeful and hints at what might come afterwards. Other times, I just write the ending that comes the most naturally to me and feels like the appropriate conclusion.

TISSUE BOX LOTTERY - akagis no stranger to cheating but i cant think of a gamble hes had before thats similar to that one so maybe this is when he gets scammed n learns & grows. like when he gets burned in his first mahjong game when the other guy takes advantage of akagis riichi to make him deal into dora 4 cause he messed w the dora indicators or whatever. im saying MAYBE he loses, but also i think 19 akagi is the kind of existence that can only ever lose money and not limbs (well except that one time at cho-han lol) so hyoudo gets his money back n akagi goes home thinking that was a fun evening. in most other game vs hyoudou i dont think akagi would have reason to lose tho. hyoudou would respect akagi as a fellow demon gambler but not the same way washizu does. i think hyoudou projects himself on akagi but its not requited & akagi only views him as a senile old man who hasnt "won" his entire life as much as hes had "things handed to him" his entire life. in the teiai retirement home hyoudous nagging washizu to have his grandson akagi come over more often basically. hyoudou wins

CHINCHIRO - now thats interesting cause theres not really mind games involved in chinchiro its mostly a question of tricking the rolls somehow. not the kind of gamble akagis used to. i think hed pressure the foreman to add some rules that makes it more of a mind warfare, somehow. unsure. the foremans scared of akagi from the minute he walked in tho i think thats the real take away here is that everyone is scared of akagi except hyoudou, who is unstable. i think i wanna say akagi loses but wins the war so to speak cause the foreman does all his bidding now. gambling wins

ok lets have an endou aside i kinda glossed over him in part1. endou can be a yasuoka figure for this he sees the potential in akagi and maybe even sends him on l'espoir in the first place as a kind of.. "take these guys down n give me a % of the earnings" scam. i think endou has 1. no backbone 2. a deep love of scams and making money 3. a good eye for opportunity. so he sees akagi n thinks ok what if i went against teiai a little. as scary as they are. since i said akagi loses the lottery this means that, endou, too, loses.

THE BOG - another one thats outside of akagis usual expertise. im not sure hed spring a kaiji-level scheme here akagis stuff has a lot less setups usually (the only prep hes ever done is inject some extra blood in himself LOL and bring a gun to a middle schoolers fight) hes kind of a guy who just wings it. ichijou would hate akagi cause hes a guy who everyone respects without him having to put in any effort for it and he doesnt even care. akagis deep depressive state is mistaken for huge self-confidence by ichijou and he hates that cause akagi is everything he wants to be basically. he needs to kill akagi, somehow. cause a trash kid from nowhere HAS to be beneath him. im messin w the chronology here btw im picturin 19kagi for these regardless of what year they actually happen. sorrys. akagi plays the bog and has a nice time and hes so lucky he happens to play it on a day where the nails are loose and theres a slight earth quake that takes his ball to the 3rd plate and ichijou starts freaking out and then the ball flops and akagi loses and just goes "thanks for an awesome game, manager." and leaves. this only makes ichijous obsessive need to kill akagi WORSE. he later takes on debt cause of his plan to take him down n ends up underground anyway. ichijou loses

sakazaki would not even be in the picture here except as a nangou figure and we know from nangou that the thing about being a nangou figure is that akagi never sees you ever again. mikoko loses?

ONE-POKER - this is mind games again and since kaiji had to become closer to akagi (a monster) to win, it only makes sense that akagi would win too. this is easier to digest for kazuya tho cause theres not a like "battle for who has the correct view of human nature" going on its just kazuya vs akagi n kazuya projects his own opinions onto akagi, who doesnt disagree. kazuya dies and when akagi leaves the building he gives another inner monologue about how he wished he was the one whod died instead and this pisses off kazuyas ghost enough to start haunting akagi forever. akagi wins.

People don't understand how long 10,000 yrs is. (That is roughly the dawn of civilization and city building. When humans mostly became stationary. Bassen accepted the whole world-hopping-alt!hyung really quick because he just got used to weird shit from krs!Cale and Cale!Roksoo's unique ways of thinking. Something like this was just bond to happen at some point.
