So...does anyone else cut out the cool parts of the packaging on Monster High dolls and tape them into a junk journal, or am I just a real specific kind of weird?

Hello., sorry if this is random, I found your blog awhile ago and thought your art was so cool, I love your style a lot 😭 , but I lost it and only recently found it again!
I am a trans man from Australia and I was wondering if you knew any good reads for lgbtq+ history or anything similar, I am white but I would love to see some more by creators of color and experiences around that but I’m not sure which books are best, regardless I hope you’re having a great day ! I feel I need to read more in general.
And I’m loving your posts and hoping you’re doing okay! Your art is so inspirational , things are more than rough atm and even though it’s all right here (kind of) I am hoping that shit starts getting better , the world really needs to be helped right now and there is so much suffering, your posts are very informative , too, and I’m glad to see it , too with all the helpful links, much appreciated -
Thank you again !! And thanks for reading even if you don’t reply, I don’t mind :]! /genuinely i word things awkwardly so I hope you don’t mind -
Hi there! glad you found me again :) This is quite convenient because I actually made a queer theory folder for my classmates/professor after chatting with them about queer theory. You can find it here full of readings and suggested books. A lot are more academic than others. I also realize I forgot to put the download of female masculinity in the drive so I'll try to do that later. I'm adding stuff as I find more downloads and related titles, but if anyone has an recommendations/links I can add them to the additional resources list.
Anyway, I'm glad you like my art and the stuff I post. Things are extremely rough and I cannot deny that it has been affecting me. I can only hope to contribute to any feelings of joy and solidarity with others.
hope that was useful! have an epic day :)

Attention Noticeably Beta 1.8 fans: I have a monumental piece of historic significance news.
Tumblr media
This is not about something new that's coming out, but a discovery I made recently about old stuff in my development files. I found old screenshots I forgot I had that were made very early on while first developing the mod. That is what this post will be about.
That screenshot up there is the first screenshot I took in-game of this entire thing, in December 15th 2022, and that was taken a few hours less than exactly two years ago. It's currently NBODE's 2nd birthday.
This all just happened to coincidentally come together for me recently, when I was looking for things to post, just four days before the two-year anniversary, which I didn't even realize at the time was very quickly approaching. I was scouring my old build and screenshot folders more than usual, from back when I had to "reset" the mod folder to fix infrastructural issues in 2023 - which I did TWICE - and found out that I had more screenshots than I was dimly aware of.
When this happened, I knew that in a few days, it would be time to celebrate.
So here, two years after Noticeably Beta 1.8 officially started, let's look at some pieces of its very early development history in notes and images.
Tumblr media
↑ This screenshot was created on the same day as the previous one, but further grass images in this post are from two days later, and then two plus five days later, and so on.
Tumblr media
It was extremely primitive at the end of 2022, and I hadn't changed the healing system or the title in the top left corner yet. But one of the first things I ever did was work to fix Beta 1.7's terrible model for tall grass. My efforts temporarily made the grass white.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These images have - I think - never been shared on this microblog before this. I was so early into development and so paranoid about idea theft that I stayed private and/or cryptic for a while, and didn't make so much as a cryptic post with unexplained screenshots of the mod until April. It got only one note. This is that post.
So, I continued to mess around with the game's models. This struggle was still all in 2022.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On January 2nd the next year, I had even more trouble. Somehow I was randomly gaining tall grass items that could be placed down again, but would then not be the same thing as the grass that was already there. I still don't understand that one.
Tumblr media
Jumping to the 23rd of January 2023, I discovered the API feature I wanted from ModLoader.AddOverride().
Tumblr media
This proved to me that I could change textures of existing blocks with code in the mod as I wanted, and that I could properly enforce the difference between existing cobblestone and my new block called concrete. Scroll up to the picture with the crafting table again and you'll see what I mean. I was so happy to find this piece of functionality (especially while knowing that web searches and old forum posts just REFUSED to say anything about how to do it) I posted this outdated meme in my development channel.
Tumblr media
Also for some reason while modding new blocks in, you have to set pickaxe speed effectiveness on them quite manually. Even after setting the material to "stone", you have to actually tell the code that pickaxes should actually do something efficiently do it. I had no idea why it was happening at first. This pic came shortly after my first confused pickaxe speed test. ↓
Tumblr media
There's plenty more to see from this turbulent period of modding upheaval and history, and we don't have all day, so I'm going to post a blitz of seemingly random images with random gaps (in chronological order) with little or no description.
Tumblr media
The first time I crafted soilstone.
Tumblr media
A mess of early soilstone and cobblestone blocks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't remember doing this. Evidently it was an item functionality test.
Tumblr media
Early emerald ore generation, from back before I ensured that it didn't suck.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first Sazmit I found in testing probably.
Tumblr media
Even as I picked out images for and wrote for this, I found myself being impressed and amazed by how I was able to overcome challenges - all that time ago, while being such a novice - and how far this mod has come. There are plenty of images still left, so more individual posts on this era will be coming out on the blog as time goes on. And I haven't even gone into the second folder for this yet.
These images are all from the first four months. And I've been working on this mod, trying to craft and redefine most of everything there is in this base version into perfection for two years, with no release yet. It's been a hard journey from the start to all the way into the last month of 2024 as I write this, and I've pulled off some outstanding victories and easy yet smart victories over the code to make basic aspects of Beta 1.8, like fences and bookshelves, much better in that time. I even fixed a glaring oversight in Beta 1.8 or two.
As a quick note, development kind of went on longer than this, because in December of 2022 I studied for the mod ahead of time by playing hours of vanilla Beta 1.8.
I know you guys are patient, but I think it's really about time I finished Alpha 1.0.0 of this treasured Minecraft mod already, so I can try to make a public Modrinth page to host it and more people than just me and one friend can get to play this mod. I really want to watch other people play it. I'm super proud.

Chapter 2 | Reunited through Death
Bucky Barnes x daughter!reader (platonic)
Tumblr media
The wind blew the girl's hair once she reached the helicopter. She graciously climbed inside, detaching the harness from her utility belt. Guerra had reached it shortly before her. She was now standing in an impossibly straight posture, her arms clasped to her sides.
“Rosita Guerra, Hydra operator for the last decade. Became Lieutenant a year and a half ago. Fought in the Kosovo War in ‘99 and served in Afghanistan for two years.” A man stood in the middle of the cabin, two files in hand. He was reading the first one with a weird neutral expression.
The woman he was talking about remained in position, her face serious, internally wondering if she should talk or not. The man closed the file and looked up from it, his eyes landing on Lieutenant Guerra. “How come we’ve never met?”, he asked, his bizarre expression shifting into a different one which was unidentifiable as well.
“I was previously stationed at the Ideal Federal Savings Bank and only recently got transferred to the Sokovian research base.”, the woman answered matter-of-factly. Her gaze flickered slightly tho, a sign of nervousness that the smaller girl next to her picked up from the corner of her eye.
“Well, I hope you haven't found your transfer too difficult, because you’re being transferred, again.”, he announced, faking compassion in a caricatural way. Guerra’s brows furrowed, silently indicating that she was looking for more answers.
“Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce myself.”, he chuckled without any humor. “I’m Director Schatten, we haven't officially met since your arrival in Sokovia.”, he twisted his thin lips in a poor excuse of a smile. His light blue eyes pierced Rosita’s black ones, as if he was reading her very soul. He pointed to the two women in alternance, his smile dropping. “Have you two been introduced yet?”
Rosita shook her head. “Not really no. I know she goes by ‘DeathStalker’ and aside from that, I’ve only heard some rumors back in the U.S.”, she explained.
“And what have you heard?”, he asked, his unsettling eyes questioning her on their own.
The Lieutenant glanced at the girl next to her quickly, gulping in nervousness. The wrinkles on her forehead deepened. “Huh”, she gulped, “one of them was that she's killed five men in a bar once.”, she paused. “With a pencil.”
The Director nodded, averting his gaze. “Well, that is partially true. They were six actually, and they weren't just men, no. They were trained Chinese mercenaries.”, his face slowly turned into a smirk. “And also, she doesn't just ‘go by’ the name DeathStalker. It is her name, her identity. The name of a weapon stronger than any machine gun or bomb you’ve ever seen.”, he bragged as if he was showing off his creation.
Said ‘weapon’ remained immobile, staring straight ahead and not moving an inch. The rise and fall of her chest was only slightly visible if you focused on it. Her black attire dissimulated her body in the dark of the cabin. The Director stepped towards them, circling the DeathStalker to go stand behind the two women. He handed the Lieutenant the second file that had remained unopened the whole time.
Rosita took it and shot him a quick glance before turning her attention to the yellowish folder stamped with the signature red logo. She opened it, her face showing slight confusion upon seeing the first picture on top of the papers.
“You will accompany the asset on a mission overseas. Earlier today, Project Insight failed, Hydra Uprising was compromised and we are no longer in the dark. Captain America and his hero team will most likely try and dissemble Hydra as soon as possible and this entire organization’s survival is threatened. To top it all off”, he slammed a finger on the picture in the file. The photograph showed a red star seemingly painted on metal. “The Winter Soldier disappeared. Ran away like a teenage girl after a fight with her daddy.”, he mocked.
He continued his monologue. “A team will be waiting for you in Ohio’s secondary base. Your mission, Miss Guerra, will simply consist of supervising the operation from afar. You will escort the asset to Ohio, and you and your team will serve as reinforcements if deemed necessary.” He turned to the other girl. “DeathStalker’s mission on the other hand, will be to hunt down and retrieve the Winter Soldier. Too much money was spent on him for him to go to waste and we wanna try and salvage what we can. Bring him in alive. Kill him only if absolutely necessary.”, he ordered.
The atmosphere significantly tensed up, as if it wasn't tense enough as it was. His gaze pierced through DeathStalker’s skull, but the assassin remained focused on looking forward. He finally stepped back and walked back in front of them, going to sit on one of the benches. He made himself comfortable and closed his eyes, leaning his head back. After an awkward minute, he spoke up again.
“You both should take a seat, it’s gonna be a long flight.”
Bucky will be in the next part don't worry!!

all the best angels are bad angels
For @whumptober day 12, using the prompts "insomnia" and the lyric prompt, "I haven’t slept in days but who’s counting?"
Continued from Day 3, wherein Muriel went to Heaven to get access to their old records, from before they can remember things, and discovered some troubling things written in their own handwriting.
They paged through the folder frantically, trying to find some commendation or something to feel good about, but when they got to a hefty court filing ("Petition to Recall Angel From Earth") asserting that they had been neglecting their duties, their heart sank, and they had to look through it. Exhibits Aleph and Beta were just establishing who Muriel was, but Exhibit Gimel was more in their own handwriting.
I have been having nightmares, it started, so I've stopped sleeping. Which did seem pretty straightforward to Muriel -- they had been neglecting their duties after all. They looked up with a start and realized that somehow a customer had got in and panicked, because they were doing it again. "Excuse me! Excuse me, you can't be in here," they said, hurrying after the customer. "We don't sell books." They rounded the corner and found the customer was waiting for them, and was not a customer, but a demon.
Crowley looked mildly ashamed to be there, although the letter Muriel had got from the new Supreme Archangel on how to manage the bookshop had been clear that Crowley did not count as a customer. "Sorry, I left, er, a thing. Here. I left a thing here," he said.
"Oh," said Muriel. "Well. It's your bookshop, really, so --"
"What." They couldn't tell if Crowley was staring at them unblinking, but then, he probably did that a lot anyway, because according to several books on the subject of herpetology, snakes did not have eyelids. (There were a lot of books about herpetology in the bookshop.) "What do you mean it's my bookshop, I wouldn't own a bookshop, I'm not --"
"You've been on the title since 1941," Muriel said, because they had also gone through all of Aziraphale's documentation.
"What?" Crowley demanded, his spectacles slipping down his nose slightly.
"Did you not know?" they asked. Crowley seemed to be cycling rapidly through a number of expressions. He did that. Muriel assumed the best thing to do was just let him, but it was taking an awfully long time. "Anyway, you can come in whenever you like. Aziraphale said --"
"You've spoken to Aziraphale?" Crowley demanded.
"No -- well yes, but that was in the letter. I did talk to him recently," said Muriel, "but just to ask for permission to get my files."
"How was he?"
"Um. He was. He seemed fine, mostly, I think?" No need to go into the not-fine parts.
"Good for him," said Crowley, although he sounded very much like he meant Bad for me. "What files?"
"Oh, um. Well. I didn't used to be a scrivener, apparently," said Muriel. Crowley noticed the folder then, which Muriel had forgot they were holding. They had bookmarked it with one finger. "Um. It's. Apparently I was really bad at my job? I slept," they added, horrified.
"Loads of people sleep," said Crowley. "Almost everyone, really. I sleep. It's nice. You should try it sometime."
"I did try it," said Muriel, "and I only stopped because I was having nightmares, and -- and I have to be better than that. I can't make the same mistakes."
"Well. That sounds...." His brow furrowed. "Hang on, why's it in your file?"
"Um. It was in some evidence against me. I wrote something about it? In a sort of... journal," they said.
Crowley shook his head. "There's your first mistake. Don't document anything that could get you in trouble. Or if you do, lie your ar-- your face off."
"But I don't want to be a bad angel!" said Muriel.
"Look, Muriel, all the best angels are bad angels," said Crowley. "Take it from me. What were the nightmares about?"
"What?"
"The nightmares," said Crowley. "What were they about?"
"I don't actually know. I didn't get that far," they said. They were only familiar with the concept of nightmares because it seemed to come up a lot in books, but.... "I actually thought they weren't real? Do humans actually -- do they just -- have hallucinations about bad things for eight hours every day?"
"Well. Mostly, no," said Crowley. "I mean. I don't think they sleep for eight hours, that seems like an awful lot, humans are terrible at sleeping." He made a face. "Anyway. Sorry to bother your, er. Reading? I'm gonna go get my, my thing, which I forgot, which is why I'm here, and which definitely exists."
"All right," said Muriel. They tried to be happy for Crowley that he was so certain about things, or at least one thing, which definitely existed, but they were feeling less and less certain about anything. They wandered back to where they'd been sitting, feeling uneasy, and went back to the evidence against them.
I have been having nightmares, so I've stopped sleeping. I don't know how to help anyone after something like this, and I don't know what to tell people. Apparently they were wicked in the eyes of the Lord? But you can't tell humans that someone they loved was wicked in the eyes of the Lord so they had to die. As it turns out you especially can't tell them she wasn't wicked in the eyes of the Lord but she looked back at her home, and Sandalphon didn't contain his miracles enough, and now she's salt. Now everyone's worried about becoming salt. Salt is a very nice thing to have, especially if you are someone who eats food, but not something I would want to be, so I can't blame them.
I don't know. I think this family in particular has been through enough, but apparently not in the eyes of the Lord. The last-minute ram substitution was lucky for them, and I thought I'd smoothed it over with Heaven, but they keep bringing it up in my quarterly reviews. It really wouldn't have gone well without the ram, I'm sure of it, but everyone's still mad at me Up There so I don't know if I should say anything about this.
All right, that's a lie. I should say something. It would be the right thing. But I don't know that Heaven would agree. I'm reaching out to some of the other angels down here and asking how they would bring it up (if they would bring it up?) because maybe I'm just getting too involved in these humans' lives. Although nobody really likes Sandalphon --
And after that there was was a great deal of crossing out -- not a simple strike through for editing purposes, but a deliberate and almost violent use of ink. Apparently even Old Bad Angel Muriel had known not to document some things, and now New Better Muriel wasn't wise enough not to wonder what they were.

Infidel | Johan liebert x Reader
Chapter 2
A/n : I literally forgot to post this last night so here it it’s 😭
Tumblr media
"Apologies for my late arrival, sir." You sigh, hurriedly rushing to your seat near the window. "No need for apologies. The professor states, raising his hands in defence. "I understand your father struggling to get cases over and done with so they're practically getting anyone these days to achieve that." He laughs, taking a swig from the old and bitter cup of coffee.
Old and bitter...sounds quite familiar.
You slyly raise a brow at his remark yet nonetheless sat down, placing your folder out on the dainty small coffee table in front of you.
"So down to business. I understand someone you were in contact with recently passed due to suspicious circumstances, correct ?" You ask, flipping through the folder. "Well yes I-
The man suddenly stops, his breath hitched as he stares down at the photographs before him. You slowly raise your head, not understanding what caused his sudden distraction.
There laid a photograph of a man being victim to a acid attack. Fragments of the skull exposed with parts of the flesh starting to rot along with somehow the eye still being intake despite the eye socket lolling to the side of the blood covered skin.
"This isn't too much for you is it ?"
"I've been doing this for a few months now, sir. I'm wise now to know not to have porridge before examining evidence photographs." You shrug, flipping through the photographs.
"Ah ! Here." You stop, pointing to a photograph of the victim associated with this particular case.
"Do you see the little marks here around the eyes ?" You ask, pointing to around the eyes "Those are clearly marks left from finger nails digging into the skin." You sigh, taking an exhausted breath.
"Seeing how deep they are and how short and curved they seem, I would suggest it being someone who looks after themselves well, meaning manicures regularly, assuming it's a woman maybe."
You suggest, staring out the photograph carefully. Despite acknowledging the quiet man sat across from you, you couldn't notice the man sat in shock at just how quickly you could come up with an answer to the questions other detective would struggle to answer. But then again...he didn't even have a chance to ask you about the man as you had already dived in . The man couldn't help but to wonder was it due to your intelligence or rather your interest in finishing the case and leaving as soon as possible.
"It's definitely not his of course." You continue.
"So to that I say he probably attacked said woman and in self defence she tried to scratch his eyes out and failed but she isn't responsible for his death." You state, shaking your head.
"If you look closely you see around the lower collar the skin has marks left of a rope-
"So he was strangled to death ?" The man inquires.
"Ha ! No !" You suddenly exclaim.
Oh how you love the sudden look of confusion on a persons face.
"Do you really believe a young girl with dainty fingernails could take out a man with a fat neck like him ?"
.
When you found yourself returning to your disdained and somewhat falling apart apartment you couldn't help but feel slightly gutted. You understood rather early on in this unwanted job that men long in or out of the career would rather slice a finger off than to admit a woman was right.
Despite having all the evidence to suggest the cause of the cause. You were shot down like a rabid dog and left with "interesting inquiry, y/n. Now let the rightful people deal with this."
Men.
"Ah !" You groan, reaching up to rub your temple. You manage to throw your belongings down onto the lonesome couch before practically climbing over rubbish that laid on the carpet. Clean it later.
You can't help but sigh as you crouch down to the height of the small kitchen fridge. Peeling off the sticky note from the fridge that states "CALL ME ! - FATHER"
Yeah right. Do your dismay and disgust the fridge was almost empty besides the-
"Holy shit that's gone off !" You cry, pinching your nose in horror as you practically run to the sink to throw out the expired milk. "I need a bath." You moan, stretching your tight arms as you head down the minor corridor.
.
They say that baths are suppose to be a calming experience to not only relax the body but also the mind. What bullshit.
Your brows furrow as you stare up at the ceiling. The dull light keeps flickering every few minutes and making a buzzing noise.
Ah the noise. Your tongue clicks in irritation as your head lols to the side, your eyes catching a glimpse of a opened folder. A case.
You couldn't really recall every making a decision so fast. You step out the tub, feet touching the awfully cold tiles, grabbing a towel before heading down to your bedroom. But not before grabbing the file along with you. Your wet fingertips smudging the papers.
.
"Usual ?" The bartender asks as he cleans off a glass. "Yeah." You state, sparing him a quick glance. You don't recognise the man, however you lack care as you already start to flick through the folder.
Your hand reaches up to place your hair behind your ear. You could feel that your hair was slightly damp.
You rub your temples in hope of soothing the aching headache. Yet to no avail.
The lights, aw the lights gleamed as bright full as always. The sound of chitter chatter filled the wholesome pub as those gathered together in harmony.
However that dreadful heavy buzz and the ringing in your ear never went.
But then it stopped. As soon as your ears picked up the daunting sound of the stool beside scratching against the floor as someone sat down. Slowly but surely, raising your tired eyes they momentarily widen at the intimate sight. Unsmiling blue eyes met your bewildered eyes and suddenly you feel the strong urge to look away yet your curious eyes betray you.

Secret’s Out
Father of Mine – Part 1 and Part 2
Tumblr media
Bruce was looking at his emails when Y/N arrived at the table.
She was breathing heavily and her hair was a bit messy, just further proving she had rushed to get there.
“I’m so sorry I’m late,” she huffed embarrassingly. “My shoot ran over and every one was moving so slowly.”
Bruce smiled. “Y/N. Relax.”
Then he stood up to greet her with a kiss on the cheek.
The two of them hadn’t seen each other in over a month. Y/N had been traveling for work constantly. And between the vigilante life and Wayne Enterprises, Bruce was running on 2 hours of sleep on the daily.
“I need a drink,” Y/N finally sighed after she got situated.
As if on cue, their waitress dropped Y/N’s favorite drink in front of her.
Y/N eyed Bruce with surprise.
He just shrugged.
Sometimes Y/N forgot how much her father noticed literally everything.
“Thank you,” she told the waitress.
“You’re overworking yourself,” Bruce said with a disapproving look.
She rolled her eyes. “Really? You’re not one to talk, Bruce.”
“You deserve a vacation. I’ll pay for it. Pick wherever you want. Bring Jason. Or some friends.”
She narrowed her eyes. “Bruce…”
It was a warning.
From the very start of their unconventional father-daughter relationship, Y/N had made it clear that she could not be bought. And Bruce spoiling her made her extremely uncomfortable. Even now, she still tried to at least split restaurant checks with him. Bruce always won those battles though.
“I’ll take a vacation when you do,” she finally countered.
That sure shut him up.
“Hey, I actually brought you something,” Y/N changed the subject as she reached for her bag.
A moment later, she lightly placed a manila folder onto the table.
Bruce’s brow furrowed as he reached for it.
As soon as he opened it, he froze.
“I had to clean out some stuff and put things into storage,” Y/N explained. “I found all my mom’s photos. I figured I could make copies of some childhood photos for you.”
Bruce’s silence made Y/N nervous.
“If you don’t want them, that’s totally fine.” She started to reach for the folder out of Bruce’s grip with awkward embarrassment. “It was stupid–”
But Bruce quickly pulled the folder closer to him and stopped her from taking the photos from him.
“Thank you,” he announced.
It made Y/N quickly sit back in her chair, caught off guard by his sincere reaction and how he’d immediately become protective of the photos.
Bruce awkwardly cleared his throat. “Thank you, Y/N.”
He repeated to make sure she understood how thankful he truly was. And Y/N suspected the throat clearing was to hide his emotions.
Now she watched as Bruce slowly went through every picture. He took in every detail with a soft smile.
These weren’t just photos. These were all of Y/N’s memories that Bruce missed, that he could never get back. And he was savoring all of them.
Then Bruce paused and was fully smiling now.
“What?” Y/N asked.
She didn’t know why all of this made her so nervous.
Bruce didn’t say anything as he lifted a photo and flipped it to show her.
It wasn’t from her childhood.
It was a black and white photo of Jason. A candid from when he had escorted her around the slums of Gotham for her most recent gallery show.
After months of thinking about it, Y/N finally had decided she wanted to frame it and hang it somewhere in her apartment.
Y/N’s jaw dropped with embarrassment and she ripped it from his hands.
“I was developing some photos at the same time as I was making the copies. Must’ve gotten mixed up in those,” Y/N explained too quickly, unable to meet Bruce’s gaze.
It made Bruce happy to know that Y/N didn’t have the same inability to love someone and let people in like he did. It was a relief that she didn’t isolate herself from it like he had. If her mother was still alive, Bruce would thank her for it. But if Y/N’s mother were alive, he would’ve never known about Y/N in the first place.
Their entire dinner was spent with Bruce looking at the old photos. He had at least two questions for each one. Some of them Y/N didn’t remember being taken. But most of them came with stories or a loving memory.
Y/N talked for most of the meal. But that’s exactly what Bruce wanted.
Furthermore, Bruce had nothing of value to update her on. Batman business had consumed his life as of lately, and he had made a promise to never involve Y/N in any of it. And Jason seemed to be on the same page when it came to his other life as Red Hood.
Both men seemed determined to keep her safe and away from it all.
Two hours later, Bruce was paying the check and helping Y/N into her coat.
“I’ll give you a ride home,” he muttered as they started walking out.
Y/N had learned by now to give up on those small battles. Jason was the same way when it came to making sure she got home safely.
As they made their way to the exit, Y/N caught a few stares from other patrons who were still eating.
“Do you ever get used to it?” She asked her father in a low voice.
“Get used to what?” He asked, genuinely unaware of what she was getting at.
“People gawking at you.”
Bruce glanced around and unintentionally glared at anyone who was staring at Y/N.
“It’s good that I’m seen in public…for obvious reason,” he hinted in a quiet voice, obviously talking about needing the cover to continue his life as a masked vigilante.
Once they were outside, Alfred was already waiting at the curb with the Rolls-Royce. He greeted Y/N with a hug and a kiss to her cheek before opening the door for her and Bruce.
When they got to Y/N’s apartment building, she said her goodbyes to Alfred. And Bruce walked Y/N all the way up to her door.
Even though Y/N insisted it was overkill and she could get up the stairs on her own just fine, Bruce had seen too many terrible things in this forsaken city. He could think of thousands of things that could happen to Y/N between the car and her front door.
Once Y/N realized that Bruce’s paranoia came from experience, she stopped trying to stop his chivalry and overprotective ways. She finally understood that Bruce had seen things that would prevent her from ever sleeping again. So if walking Y/N to her door gave him a little peace of mind, she wasn’t going to take that away from him.
Y/N turned to Bruce when they reached her door. “Thanks again for dinner.”
“Of course. I’m glad we could spend some time together. Thank you again for the photos.”
Y/N didn’t realize that Bruce was about to hang every single one around Wayne Manor.
She gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and a hug. “Get home safe.”
——————
Y/N woke up wrapped strong arms, her body overheating slightly.
When she had come home from dinner last night, Jason had already left for patrol.
He hadn’t woken her up when he got back home, just proving how exhausted Y/N had been these past few weeks.
But it was the continuous buzzing vibrations of her phone that woke her up. When she brightened the screen, she saw that she had dozens of text messages and three missed called from Bruce.
“What the fuck,” Y/N whispered as she started opening them.
But they were all about the same thing.
Everyone had sent her similar articles from various gossip websites or news outlets.
BRUCE WAYNE’S NEW GIRLFRIEND IS FAMOUS PHOTOGRAPHER Y/F/N Y/L/N
BRUCE WAYNE’S FLAVOR OF THE WEEK
IS Y/F/N Y/L/N USING THE PRINCE OF GOTHAM TO FURTHER HER CAREER?
All of the headlines were joined with photos of Bruce and Y/N having dinner last night. Apparently other customers at the restaurant had snuck photos of Bruce greeting her with a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
Y/N could see how it would be misinterpreted as romantic and not familial or platonic. But it still made her sick to see the photos twisted in such a way.
Then there were paparazzi photos of them getting in a car together. Of course there were none of Bruce dropping her off and them going their separate ways. That would be just too convenient for the two of them.
Y/N’s stomach dropped with panic.
“Fuck. Fuck. Fuck,” she gasped without realizing it.
Jason immediately woke up. “What is it?”
Y/N ignored him and called Bruce.
“I’m handling it,” was how Bruce answered her call.
“Handling it? How exactly?” She challenged. “We can deny the rumors all we want. But everyone is going to keep tabs on us now, and they’re going to see us together again.”
Jason grabbed his own phone.
One of his brothers must’ve sent him a similar article because he rubbed his face in annoyance, finally understanding the situation.
Nothing like your girlfriend being rumored to have a relationship with her father, who was also your mentor and adoptive father.
“Y/N, it will blow over. It always does,” Bruce tried to calm her down.
“So what happens when I get photographed with Jason? Huh? They’re going to just say I’m cheating on both of you with each other or some fucked up shit like that.”
Bruce was silent, because they both knew she was right.
Y/N glanced at Jason, who was already waiting for her gaze.
She took in a deep breath and pinched the bridge of her nose. “Maybe we should…Maybe we should just tell the truth.”
“You’ve never wanted that, Y/N.” Bruce tried to argue.
And he was right.
Y/N was terrified of being associated with the Wayne family. People would start believing she secretly built her career off of nepotism that no one was aware of. She also didn’t want that type of attention from the media and the upperclass of Gotham.
“I don’t think we have any other choice,” Y/N finally answered.
Jason reached for thigh and gripped it, trying to offer her some sort of comfort.
“Y/N, are you sure about this?” Bruce asked slowly.
“No. Not at all. But I’d rather not have the public think I’m dating my biological father.”
“OK,” Bruce sighed. “I’ll talk to my publicist today.”
“OK.” She bit her lip before adding. “Just…tell them the whole story.”
“Y/N, if you’re worried how it will make me look, don’t.”
“But I am worried about it, Bruce. They’re going to drag you for being an absent father. And none of that is true. They’re not gonna understand.”
“I’ll call you later with an update,” he told her softly before hanging up.
Y/N tossed her phone to the foot of the bed in frustration.
Jason watched as she buried her face in her hands.
“You OK?” He asked as he rubbed her back.
“No,” she answered honestly.
“Come here.” Jason pulled her into his chest.
There was no fight from her as he cuddled her tightly.
“This is a fucking nightmare,” she groaned into his shoulder.
“I know. But maybe it’s for the best,” he tried to reason with her.
“And what happens when they catch wind that I’m dating my father’s adoptive son? Huh?”
“We’re not actually related, Y/N.”
She pulled her face back so she could glare at him. “Yeah! We know that! But you do understand that people are going to see it that way, right? Like we’re gonna look like some fucked up incestual couple to them.”
“I don’t really care,” Jason finally told her.
“You don’t care?” She scoffed.
“No,” his answer and confidence didn’t waver. “I don’t give a fuck what people say about us, Y/N. If exposing the truth means we don’t have to think twice about going to events or even just going out to dinner, then I’m all for it. I’m sick of hiding our relationship.”
Y/N blinked. She never considered that their subtle relationship bothered him in any way. She was always a strangely private person, so it felt normal to her. But clearly Jason had been wanting to be a bit more public with their relationship.
“What if this changes everything?” Y/N whispered, not meeting his eyes.
Jason smirked at that and gripped her chin, lifting it up so she would look at him. “Some paparazzi and trash tabloids aren’t going to change how I feel about you, Y/N.”
Y/N laughed lightly at that.
“Maybe we should leave Gotham for a bit,” she offered. “Bruce won’t shut up about paying for a vacation for us.”
Jason nodded. “I think that sounds like a good idea. You’ve needed a break for awhile now.”
“Well…where do you wanna go?” Y/N asked.
“Doesn’t matter to me. As long as you’re there.”
She rolled her eyes and hit Jason in the face with a pillow. “God, you really are a sap.”
Y/N appreciated Jason always being able to make her feel better and feel supported.
But even he couldn’t stop her from wondering...
What would life be like as a Wayne?

Y/N x Todoroki Fanfiction 💖
!!! How you both meet !!!
YN sighed as she slouched into her chair. Aizawa just gave the class a lecture that lasted the whole hour. A lecture about hygiene. Why? Nobody knows. Maybe Mineta did something crazy again!? YN shook the idea away.
"Hey! YN!!" Uraraka called as she ran to YN's desk, slamming her hands on the desk. "What?" YN asked. "Wanna go out to the movies with us later!?" She asked. "Who's all going?" YN asked.
"Let's see...Me, Deku, Kirishima and Bakugo might, Todoroki, Kaminari and Jirou might, and I think thats it." She said. "Ok, sure." YN said. Uraraka smiled brightly as she skipped away.
She didn't really no a lot of people in her class. Poor YN only really knew Uraraka and Deku because the three hung out a lot. The one person she really wanted to meet was Todoroki. He seemed nice and he. Was. Hot. YN blushed at the thought of him.
Later at the movie theater.......
"Kiri, Bakugo, Kaminari, and Jirou couldn't make it. Todoroki is on his way right now." Deku said as he finished looking at his texts.
YN was a bit nervous about being with Todoroki. The two met after school and talked a bit. It was still going to be a bit weird. I mean, it was pretty much a set up double date without the other 'couples' consent.
YN looked out the large window as she saw Todoroki get out of a super nice black car. He wore a leather jacket to keep his skin safe from the crisp cold. He also wore gloves, which were being carefully taken off. He walked in and found YN and the other two. "How much are the tickets?" He asked. "They're $7. Deku and I are good. YN over here forgot her wallet at home like the little klutz she is." Uraraka teased.
"I told you! My house is down the road! I have time to go get it!" She shouted.
"I'll cover you. Don't worry about paying me back." Todoroki said.
"A-Are you sure?" YN asked. "Mhm. But this means we'll have to share our snacks too." He said as she nodded.
What if our hands touch in the popcorn!? What if we forget to get an extra straw!? This is bad! I'm getting all nervous!!! What is this feeling!? She began to think as she got in line with Todoroki.
"Hello, how can I help you today?" The cashier asked. "We want two tickets to (movie)." He said. The cashier got our tickets and Todoroki ordered popcorn, (favorite drink), and (favorite candy) for you two to share.
"Have a nice day, you two lovebirds." The cashier winked.
YN flinched and began to stutter out a 'that's not right' as Todoroki pulled her away by the waist. "Let it go. It's fine." He said.
Strange. Wait. Did he grab my waist!? She panicked.
They began to watch the movie. They both found each other's hands in the popcorn at least twelve times throughout the movie.
After the movie they all talked about how amazing it was. "Alright. Uraraka, we should get you home. YN do you need a ride home?" Deku asked. "I think I'll be ok." She said. "Alright. See you later, YN. Todoroki." He smiled. They said goodbye and YN sat down as Todoroki followed her.
"You ok?" He asked. YN nodded and blushed at the sudden question. "YN, do you need a ride home?" He asked. "I have to run to the store but I left my wallet so it won't work out. I'm working something out though." She sighed. I can take you to the store and then to your place. It's no big deal." He "A-Are you sure? I don't have money...." She said. He nodded. "O-ok...." She stuttered.
She got into his car with him and he turned it on. He made sure she was comfortable and even gave her his coat and gloves because she was cold.
"I gotta stop at work real quick but then we'll be on route." He said as they drove out of the parking lot. YN nuzzled her nose into his coat. It smelled so good.
They got to his work and he got out, coming back after five minutes with a folder of papers. He seemed frustrated though. "Are you ok?" YN asked. "Just frustrated with my boss. He's making me work extra days." He sighed in frustration as we drove off again.
"I'm sorry. I know we just met recently but I'm always here if you need to talk to anyone." She offered. "Thank you." He said. YN nodded in response as the rest of the drive was silent.
She got the things you needed from the store and went home. "Thanks again, Todoroki." YN said as she started to get out. "It's no problem. Don't pay me back." He said.
Dang it. She's so hot. He thought as she got out and shut the door.
Today was probably one of the best days of her life. YN met her crush and hung out with him all day pretty much. YN threw herself onto the couch. "And what's making you so happy?" Her sibling asked. "Nothing." She said.
I'm just in love. He thought.

Manifesto - chapter 10
It's been 84 years...
Last time, Sutherland convinced Belle to join in with a Government consultation. Cue snark and UST
[AO3]
-
Belle stared at Sutherland, her pulse thumping at the base of her throat as she met his eyes. He had that tiny smile on his face, his eyes glinting, and she licked her lips nervously.
“I - I didn’t think you’d be here,” she said lamely, and he pushed upright.
“Well, it is my house,” he said. “After a fashion.”
“No, I didn’t mean…” She closed her eyes, swallowed, and opened them again. “I just meant I didn’t think you’d concern yourself with a consultation, that’s all. I - I thought it might be one of your Ministers.”
“Ordinarily I wouldn’t,” he agreed, reaching for the coffee. “But we’ve decided to give this policy more priority, and given that it’s a cross-government initiative, I thought I’d show face.”
“Right,” she said weakly. “Great.”
“Oh, I won’t be here for the whole thing,” he added. “I suspect I’ll leave after lunch. Coffee?”
“Thank you.”
Belle looked around the table, spying pieces of folded card printed with names marking each place. She read over the names, trying to find her own.
“You’re here,” said Sutherland, placing both hands on the back of one of the chairs and pulling it out. “Please. Take a seat.”
For a moment she was frozen in place, but then she lifted her chin, stalking around the table and sitting down. He pushed her chair in, and she murmured her thanks, squeezing her thighs together as he reached over her shoulder and grasped a cup and saucer between thumb and forefinger, slowly pulling it over until it was in front of her. Belle watched the movement of his hand: long, tanned fingers above a perfectly white shirt cuff, and wanted to sigh. Nope. Still fancy him. Dammit!
“I trust your journey here wasn’t too tiring,” he said, crossing to the chair opposite the door and taking a seat.
“It was fine,” she said automatically.
“And the accommodation?” he went on. “I’m sure Anna arranged something suitable.”
“Yes, it’s - uh - lovely.”
He nodded, reaching for his own coffee, and Belle glanced down at the table. There was a folder of documents in front of her, a close-up picture of a smiling multiracial group of people with their arms around each other in front of a gleaming modern building of steel and glass. Shaping a Stronger Society was written in yellow font on a dark blue background. Belle opened the folder to reveal a sheaf of documents, the day’s agenda lying uppermost.
“I’m afraid it’s going to be a long day,” said Sutherland, making her jump. “We’ll do our best to keep you lubricated. There’s plenty more coffee, if you need it.”
Belle automatically took a sip of her own coffee, and was spared the ordeal of making conversation by the door opening to reveal Anna. She was followed by several men and women in suits, and there was a buzz of conversation as introductions were made and seating places indicated. Belle smiled at the man who was directed to sit next to her. He looked a little out of place in his tweed jacket with elbow patches, glasses perched on his nose and red hair curling back from a high forehead. Belle read his nameplate.
“Dr Archibald Hopper,” she said. “Are you an academic?”
“Oh, Archie, please,” he said, with a warm smile. “And yes, I was a practising psychiatrist for many years. More recently I’ve been teaching at Cambridge, so that and research take up most of my time.”
Belle sat up excitedly.
“Oh! I studied at Cambridge,” she said happily. “So of course I have to say there’s no finer university for you to be teaching at.”
“Well, I certainly won’t argue with that,” he said with a smile. “And everyone knows who you are. A modern day freedom fighter for literacy, which is an excellent cause. Miss French, I believe.”
“Belle’s fine,” said Belle, with a grin. “What’s your interest in this?”
“I’ve been studying the psychological impact of poverty and deprivation and its links to poor health and other life chances,” he said earnestly. “I think your interests and mine probably overlap.”
“I should think they probably do,” said Belle. “Although I imagine your credentials are somewhat more impressive than mine.”
“On the contrary,” said Archie. “You have experience in the field, as it were. I’d certainly be interested in hearing your perspective on the literacy programmes you’ve introduced.”
“You heard about that?” she asked, surprised, and he smiled.
“There were a number of pieces in the press after your - ah - meeting with the Prime Minister,” he said. “I understand you’ve created a useful community resource built around literacy for all ages.”
Belle opened her mouth to explain what she was doing, but was cut off by Sutherland clearing his throat.
“Right, well, good morning everyone,” he said, leaning on the table and glancing around at the occupants. “We have a full schedule, and I’m sure you all want to make the most of it, so I won’t be doing the creeping death of introductions around the table, as you’re no doubt relieved to hear. We can save the obligatory networking for the tea breaks.”
There was an appreciative chuckle from the attendees.
“You all have a pack of documents in front of you,” he went on. “This contains information on everyone here, including interests and expertise. I’m pleased to see such a range of talent around this table, and I’m excited to see what we can achieve together. I know you all take the development of this policy as seriously as I do.”
Belle found herself nodding along with the others. Sutherland certainly knew how to command attention.
“The documents also set out some of the initial research provided by the government departments leading on this policy,” he said. “Of course you all have your own experience, and no doubt your own sources to bring to the table. I fully expect this to be a challenging session with a lot of strong opinions being aired, but I’m confident that we can avoid too much bloodshed.”
There was a ripple of laughter, but Sutherland’s eyes lingered on Belle a little longer than the others. She met his gaze steadily, hoping she wouldn’t blush.
“You might well be wondering why I’m here,” he added, looking around. “The Shaping a Stronger Society policy will fulfil several key campaign pledges and lay the groundwork for lasting change. I thought it right that I give it the high profile it deserves, particularly when it cuts across so many Government departments. We need to be presenting a united front on this.”
“I’m sure the fact that it’s election year is a happy coincidence,” remarked a woman with a white-blonde bob over dark roots. Belle read her nameplate: Ella Deville-Waters. Sutherland grinned.
“Well, you know what they say, Ella,” he said. “Politics is eighty percent timing, ten percent luck—”
“And ten percent knowing how to lie with a straight face,” drawled Ella, making everyone chuckle.
“Thought that was at least sixty percent,” muttered Belle, and Archie laughed and managed to turn it into a cough.
“Let’s get started,” said Sutherland, glancing at Belle again. “I know there are a few of you with presentations to give on your own areas of interest, and I’m assured the technology is working, so I’ll hand things over to each of you. Anna, could you help Miss French set up the first presentation?”
Belle blinked rapidly.
“Me?” she said weakly, and Sutherland smiled.
“Gets it out of the way, hmm?”
She supposed it would.
-
Standing up in front of a sea of expectant faces turned towards her, Belle momentarily wanted to run from the room. Once she started speaking and concentrated on her passion for the subject, however, she forgot that she was presenting to a bunch of politicians and academics in Downing Street. The fifteen minutes she had been allotted went by more quickly than she thought possible, and prompted a number of questions that she was able to answer easily. She sat down with a thump next to Archie afterwards, feeling an odd mixture of exhaustion and exhilaration, and he sent her a reassuring smile before turning his attention to the next speaker, Ella Deville-Waters. It turned out that she was Undersecretary for Education, and she spoke eloquently about the importance of early years learning.
There were other presentations, each followed by an opportunity for questions, the final talk being given by Archie. Belle scribbled notes as he spoke, and made a note of the papers he referenced; they sounded like something she would be interested in reading at a later date. When the questions were finished, Sutherland announced that they would break for coffee, and Belle felt herself sigh in relief. She was surprised to see that it was eleven-thirty already; the morning was almost over.
The rest of the day went reasonably well and the group generated some robust discussion; despite Sutherland having said he would be leaving after lunch, he showed no sign of doing so, and took the lead in steering the conversation. There was general agreement on the merits of expanding opportunities for all, and the desired outcome of the policy. Disagreements arose when it came to discussing how to get there. There was a frank exchange of views between Belle, Ella, and the brusque Sir George King, who worked for the Treasury. He seemed to take any suggestion that money would have to be spent as a personal affront. Anna had to step in and smooth things over more than once, and Belle could feel her patience draining away as the day drew towards evening. The draft call for evidence that was produced was the last straw.
“This doesn’t go nearly far enough,” she said bluntly, lifting the paper and dropping it on the table. “The questions skirt around the real issues, and there’s no meat on the bones of this thing. Whatever responses you get won’t address what we’ve been talking about all day. It’s papering over the cracks at best.”
“This is merely a scoping document,” said Sutherland mildly. “And a first draft at that. You can’t expect the policy to be fully-formed at this stage.”
“No, but if this is the direction we’re being nudged in, the whole thing is pointless,” she said. “How can you expect us to even start to make a difference if you refuse to fund it properly?”
Sutherland took off his glasses, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“We’ve been over this, Miss French,” he said, sounding weary. “Budget constraints—”
“Yes we have been over this, and as I’ve said, budget constraints only ever seem to apply to policies that benefit the many over the few,” she said tartly. “Your Government may have managed to sweep the whole Pennine Consortium debacle under the rug a couple of years ago, but I remember the reports about the amount of public money that was being poured into that project, and it turned out to be going into the back pockets of the Home Secretary’s relatives!”
“Paying out according to contractual agreements is normal practice in business, I believe,” he said, in a bored voice. “The matter was investigated and the Home Secretary was cleared of all wrongdoing, as I’m sure you’re aware. ”
“My point is that billions were paid out for defence contracts with no questions being raised about whether they were affordable.”
“Clearly you didn’t watch the Select Committee hearings,” he remarked. His voice was a flat drawl that was doing nothing to stop her rising irritation.
“They were held after the money had been spent, not before, that’s my point!”
“And of course the purchase of tanks is entirely analogous to the development of literacy programmes.”
“I’d argue that the purchase of tanks is of decidedly lower value, actually,” she said.
“Then it’s a good thing you don’t have to make these decisions, isn’t it?”
Anna cleared her throat.
“Perhaps we can get back to the matter at hand?” she suggested. “Ella, what were you saying about school opening hours?”
“Oh, we can talk about that later,” said Ella cheerfully, waving a hand. “I’d much rather listen to this argument.”
“No one’s arguing,” said Sutherland coolly. “Miss French has a passionate nature, it seems.”
“Thanks, that’s not at all patronising,” said Belle, in a dry tone.
“Passion for public service is to be commended,” he said, matching her tone. “I thought I was giving you a compliment.”
“No you didn’t.”
Sutherland fixed her with a dark-eyed stare, his mouth flat. It was strangely arousing, and she could feel her breathing quicken. She told herself it was irritation.
“Your input here is valued, Miss French,” he said, his jaw a little clenched. “But I’d be grateful if you would allow us to guide you through this process, given that you know nothing about the way Government works.”
“No, I don’t,” she agreed, losing the last of her patience. “I don’t know about policy-making and contract negotiation and tendering and public procurement. And likewise I’d say you and most of the people that work for you don’t know what it’s like to worry about where the next meal is coming from.”
“Which is why we’re seeking the input of a wide range of stakeholders such as yourself.” He was trying for a smooth tone, but his eyes were flashing, and she could sense he was getting as annoyed as she.
“If you’re not prepared to listen to us, then it’s all empty gestures, isn’t it?” she protested.
“Wanting your input and allowing you to set the parameters of this thing are two entirely different things,” he said coldly. “I’m sorry if your expectations are out of step with reality.”
“There’s a lot of that going around.”
“Right!” said Anna briskly, slapping the table and making everyone jump. “That seems like a good place to break until tomorrow. It’s been a long day and I’m sure everyone could do with some fresh air.”
“Could do with a stiff drink, I don’t know about the rest of you,” said Ella, and there were appreciative murmurs from the others.
Belle sat back in her seat, listening with half an ear as chairs scraped back and papers were gathered up. Sutherland had already gone, stalking out of the room, and the others were throwing curious glances at her as they pulled on coats and drained cups.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, Belle,” said Archie, tucking his folder of papers into a battered brown leather bag. “For what it’s worth, I think you’re right about the scope being too narrow.”
She gave him a grateful look, and a smile, and he ducked his head a little and sauntered out. Belle sighed, toying with the cold cup of tea in front of her as the others began to file out. She felt drained, wrung out. Was this what it was like every day for politicians? She wondered how they coped. Maybe it was why so many seemed to go grey so quickly.
“You settling in for the night?”
Anna’s voice made her look up, and Belle realised they were alone.
“Sorry, I was miles away,” she said. “I feel as though my brain’s been scrambled and stuffed back in my head all wrong.”
“Welcome to Whitehall,” said Anna, in a deadpan tone, and Belle giggled.
“Sorry for letting my temper get the better of me at the end,” she said. “I’m not cut out for politics, it seems.”
“Oh, I don’t know,” said Anna. “You have the ability to see to the heart of things. He wasn’t joking when he said your input is valued, you know.”
Belle sighed, running her hands over her face.
“It just - it feels like I’m wasting my time here,” she said. “I know I don’t have much longer before the library has to close, and - and yet I’m down here in London, in what seems like a hopeless uphill battle! Maybe I should just go back to Avonleigh and try to do what little good I can.”
“You may have longer than you think,” said Anna, gathering up some papers. “The Prime Minister approved a scheme for local authorities a few days ago. It offers grants to support providers of breakfast clubs and after-school learning.”
Belle sat up.
“Like the library?” she asked, and Anna shrugged.
“Seems likely, doesn’t it?” she said. “Oh, we’ve made sure that local authorities have to use it for the intended purpose, by the way. The scheme is due to launch next week. I’d keep my eyes peeled to the website, if I were you.”
She put the papers in a leather satchel and took out another folder before slinging the satchel over one shoulder. Belle was smiling, her heart swelling with what felt like hope for the first time in months.
“A reprieve for the library?” she said. “And it was his idea?”
“Like I said.” Anna hitched the satchel on her shoulder. “He does listen. You might not think so, but he does.”
“Listening’s all very well,” said Belle. “It’s the choices that are made that are the issue.”
“There isn’t always a choice,” said Anna firmly. “Or at least, not one a Prime Minister can make.”
“I didn’t mean—”
“Difficult decisions have to be made,” she added. “Sometimes hundreds each day. Everything’s urgent, everything has an impact, and he tries his best to make the right call based on the information given by people he trusts. He doesn’t always get it right. No one could.”
“Maybe not, but—”
“He has to balance fifty competing interests with almost every decision he makes,” she went on. “The papers turn on a dime and whoever’s lauded one week gets pilloried the next. Everyone around him is looking to him to lead and half of them are willing him to fail so that they can step into the spotlight. I won’t let that happen if I can help it.”
She picked up the folder of papers, turning on her heel.
“I’ll show you out,” she said over her shoulder. “I expect you’ll want an early night after today. Or a large drink. Or both.”
“You care about him,” said Belle, and Anna stopped dead before slowly turning back to face her.
“Yes,” she said simply. “He’s a good friend. And whether or not you believe it, Miss French, he’s a good man.”
Belle was silent for a moment.
“I haven’t made up my mind on that score,” she said eventually.
“Oh, I didn’t say he wasn’t a stubborn bloody pain in the arse at times,” added Anna. “He’s definitely that.”
Belle couldn’t help giggling.
“Well, bearing all that in mind, and in the interests of cooperation,” she said. “I suppose I really ought to apologise for snapping at him.”
Something in Anna seemed to relax at her words, and she smiled again.
“He’s used to being snapped at,” she said dismissively. “He gets far worse in the Commons, let’s face it. But an apology would probably make him more inclined to listen to you, so I certainly won’t stand in your way.”
Belle nodded agreement, and Anna jerked her head towards the door.
“I was going to take these reports to him before I head off,” she said, holding up the folder. “If you felt like going there now, I’d be happy to tell him you want to have a word.”
Belle hesitated, but nodded, and Anna smiled briefly and headed for the door. The interior of Downing Street was busier than Belle had expected at that time in the evening, aides hurrying with laptops and drinks and phones clasped to their ears. Anna led her down a wide, thickly-carpeted corridor and paused outside a heavy office door, where two Special Branch officers nodded to Anna and eyed Belle suspiciously before stepping aside. Anna rapped smartly on the door, and Belle heard a muffled bid to enter from behind it. She could feel her heart thumping in trepidation, and when the door opened she could see a room with a high ceiling, dark green carpet and a dresser in dark, polished wood where several cut crystal decanters sat, their contents gleaming in shades of amber and ruby. There were two leather armchairs and a couch around a coffee table in the same dark wood. Bookshelves stretched around two walls of the room, and Sutherland was sitting behind a heavy desk opposite the door, scribbling something. His eyes narrowed as they met Belle’s, but Anna walked forward, cutting off his view.
“Brought you those updates on the infrastructure options,” she said breezily, holding up the files. “If you want to go through them later let me know. I thought I’d go and get something to eat.”
“So I know why you’re in my office,” he said evenly, sitting back and putting down his pen. “Not too clear on the presence of Miss French. Unless she thought of something else she wanted to call me.”
“Actually I’m here to apologise,” said Belle, making his brows lift in surprise. “So I’m not about to insult you unless you start something.”
Sutherland’s mouth worked, as though he was trying not to laugh.
“Uh - thank you, Anna,” he said, glancing away. “Yes, go and get some dinner. I think Miss French and I can have a conversation without it coming to blows.”
“Good,” said Anna. “Behave.”
Belle was unsure who that last comment was directed at, but Anna left the room before she could ask, shutting the door behind her with a click. She turned slowly on her toes to face Sutherland, who was leaning back in his chair and tapping his papers with a pen, staring at her.
“Anna told me about the local authority grants for educational services,” she said. “That should help a lot more libraries stay open.”
“That’s the idea,” he said, with a shrug.
“Providing librarians know it’s available, of course,” she added.
“There’ll be an announcement when it’s launched,” he said. “Of course there’s nothing to stop you contacting your peers and explaining the process.”
“I guess not.” She fiddled with a button on her jacket before smoothing her hand against her skirt. “What made you change the policy on local grants?”
“I didn’t,” he said abruptly. “Just provided - clarification around eligibility.”
Belle took a step forward, until she was almost touching the desk.
“Well, that clarification should mean I won’t be closing the library doors this year,” she said. “Lucky for me, hmm?”
“Surprising as it may seem,” he remarked. “I do actually take into account the views of interested parties when making decisions. Where I can.”
“Hmm.” Belle leaned on the desk, pursing her lips. “Well, I’m sorry for yelling at you. I don’t like losing my temper and I try not to if I can help it.”
There was a tiny, amused grin on his face.
“A pity,” he said. “It was rather refreshing.”
“Yeah, well it wasn’t all that satisfying from my perspective,” she said. “Dealing with politicians is making me more cynical than I’d like to be.”
He gave her a twisted little smile.
“Well, that’s no bad thing,” he said. “The moment you start wanting to be cynical it’s probably time to run screaming for the hills.”
“At nine this morning I almost did run screaming,” she admitted, and he chuckled.
“I’m glad you didn’t,” he said. “I enjoyed your presentation. It was delivered with your usual passion, and I think you may have brought some of the others on board.”
“I think Sir George King would rather I’d stayed at home,” she said, and Sutherland shrugged.
“If it was up to him we wouldn’t spend any money at all,” he said. “On the whole, today went rather well, I thought. No physical blows were exchanged, and there was almost no profanity. One of the more sedate policy meetings I’ve attended, truth be told.”
Belle smiled.
“We’re all here for the common good, I suppose,” she said. “Although in some cases I’m not sure how much common good they’re really interested in doing.”
“First rule of policy-making,” he said. “Try not to kill off half your contributors in a fit of righteous anger. Tempting though it is.”
“Hmm.” She was amused. “I don’t remember reading that one in the welcome pack.”
“Unwritten rule,” he corrected, raising a finger. “I think the pack said some bollocks about understanding motivation and managing expectations.”
Belle bit back a grin.
“I guess I’m not cut out for a career in diplomacy,” she said, and he smiled.
“Gets easier the more you do it.”
“I’ll take your word for it.”
“Well, thank goodness you’ll believe one thing that comes out of my mouth.”
It was said in a dry tone, but he was still grinning, and she returned the smile. There was a moment of silence, and he pushed up from the desk, crossing to the dresser.
“I was going to have a drink,” he said. “May I offer you one? There’s whisky, port, brandy… If that’s not to your taste I could easily have something brought in.”
“Uh - okay.” Belle was beginning to feel as though she had stepped into a strange parallel universe, where small town librarians sat and drank with the leaders of nations as a matter of course. “Thank you. I’ll take a brandy.”
“Excellent choice,” he said vaguely, and opened one of the doors of the dresser, taking out two brandy glasses.
Belle watched as he reached for one of the decanters and poured two small measures. His suit pants fitted him very well, skimming his rear as he moved. She shook her head, telling herself to stop ogling the man. Sutherland turned, glasses in hand, and nodded towards the armchairs.
“Take a seat,” he said.
Still feeling as though she was dreaming, Belle took the glass he held out and sat down, crossing her legs and watching as he put down his glass and lowered himself into the seat opposite. She took a sip of her brandy to take her mind off how good he looked, and how much better he might look if he lost the tie and unfastened the first few buttons of that crisp white shirt. The brandy was very good, far better than she was used to, and she licked her lips, enjoying the taste of caramel and spice and the pleasant heat on her tongue. Sutherland took a drink, sucking in his cheeks and setting down his glass on the coffee table. He looked tired.
“Are your work days usually this long?” she asked, and his eyebrows flicked upwards.
“It’s barely six-thirty,” he said. “I still have a few hours left in me.”
“Doesn’t sound like much of a work-life balance,” she observed. Sutherland pulled a face.
“Gets a little quieter at recess, but no, I don’t suppose it is,” he said.
“Are you married?” she asked, and Sutherland shook his head.
“Divorced.”
“Oh,” said Belle. “I’m sorry.”
“No no, it’s fine,” he said, sitting back. “It was amicable. We’re still friends.”
“Oh.”
“She’s engaged to a High Court judge now,” he added. “I wish her every happiness.”
“Oh.” For God’s sake, Belle, say something intelligent. “You have kids?”
“A daughter,” he said. “Grown up now. Early twenties.”
“Oh.”
Sutherland took a drink, seeming to savour the taste of brandy on his tongue before swallowing. His gaze was steady, his eyes dark, and she could feel faint stirrings of desire in her lower abdomen. She looked down into her brandy glass, watching the ripples in the amber liquid and telling herself to snap out of her crush.
“What about you?” he asked then, making her look up. “You married? Children?”
“You mean you didn’t have me checked out?” she asked dryly, and he shrugged.
“Maybe you’re good at hiding things,” he said. “Or, as is more likely, Anna told me and I forgot about it.”
Belle bit back a smile.
“Well, hiding a husband and children would be beyond me,” she said. “Luckily I have no need. No family. Well, there’s my dad back in Melbourne, but apart from that I’m on my own.”
“No large, intimidating boyfriend?” he asked. “Or maybe a girlfriend, what do I know?”
“Neither,” she said. “Last relationship was pretty crappy, to be honest. Made me want to take a break for a while.”
“Ah.” He nodded. “I understand.”
“I thought you said you were on good terms with your ex.”
“Well…” He waved a hand. “I vaguely remember what it was like to be young. Aeons ago.”
She scoffed.
“Come on, you’re not that old.”
“Bloody feels like it, sometimes,” he grumbled.
“Well, that’s what comes from running the country,” she said pertly. “It’s why I stick to running a library.”
“No doubt that comes with its own stresses.”
“Only when I’m threatened with closure by arrogant, shortsighted politicians,” she quipped, and he snorted in amusement.
“Well, thank fuck there aren’t many of those around.”
Belle giggled before catching herself, and he was grinning as he leaned further back in his chair. His eyes gleamed when he smiled, and she couldn’t decide whether it was more or less arousing than when he was angry. A dangerous path for your thoughts to take, Belle.
“Did you say your daughter was in her twenties?” she said, trying to steer the conversation onto a safe topic. “Is she at university?”
“No no, she’s finished studying,” he said. “She’s started work in the City. Not in politics, thank God.”
“You wouldn’t want her to go into politics?” she asked, and he wrinkled his nose.
“I don’t think she’d be happy,” he said. “It can be a lonely, painful existence, and you make as many enemies as friends. Probably more, if I’m honest. She has a gentle heart, and I wouldn’t want to see her harden it to survive.”
“It seems a shame that people have to,” said Belle. “I think politicians could stand to be more compassionate, not less.”
Sutherland took another sip of his drink, eyeing her as he licked an amber bead of brandy from his lower lip.
“I’m sure you’re right,” he said. “Alas, we have to deal with the world as it is, not as we might want it to be.”
“So why did you decide it was what you wanted to do?” she asked. “Did you always want to end up running the country?”
“No, I can’t say it was a childhood dream,” he admitted. “I started out as a barrister. The politician wasn’t born until I was in my late thirties.”
“So why politics?” she asked. “I’m guessing it wasn’t for the money.”
Sutherland pulled a wry face, taking another drink.
“I was earning more at the bar, certainly,” he said. “Far better work-life balance, as well.”
“Ego, then?” she suggested, and he grinned.
“That was certainly part of it.”
Belle waited, and he sighed, turning the brandy glass between his hands.
“Would you believe me if I said I thought I could make things better?” he asked.
“My new-found cynicism wouldn’t,” she remarked, and he chuckled.
“To the tragic death of innocence.”
He raised his glass in a mock toast, and Belle grinned, raising her own before sipping her brandy. The drink was almost gone, and she found herself regretting having drunk it so quickly. She would have to leave as soon as it was done, and to her great surprise she was enjoying their conversation.
“Do you think you have?” she asked. “Made things better?”
Sutherland hesitated, turning the glass between his fingers.
“I suppose it’s a work in progress,” he said. “But I’m trying. Perhaps not in the ways you would want me to.”
“I don’t suppose what I think matters,” she said, and he shook his head.
“You might be surprised at what matters to me, Miss French.”
He took another sip of his brandy, his eyes fixed on hers, and she could feel herself shiver. She drained her glass, setting it down on the table with a loud clink.
“Well,” she said, a little breathlessly. “I should go. I feel as though I’ve been wrung dry and turned inside out, and I could really use some sleep before I have to do it all again tomorrow.”
He smiled at that, setting his glass beside hers.
“In that case, I’ll show you out. Anna will expect me to have read those papers by the time she gets back.”
“She seems very committed to her job,” observed Belle, and he grinned.
“Couldn’t do my own without her,” he said. “I need someone to keep me in line.”
“I won’t argue with that,” she remarked, and he chuckled, a deep laugh that made her belly clench.
“I can see why she likes you,” he said, and strode to the door, opening it up and nodding to the Special Branch officers outside. “Good evening, Miss French. It’s a pleasure to be working with you.”
Belle nodded, slipping from the room and heading back along the corridor. A smiling woman with a dark ponytail and a brisk manner showed her out, and she stepped into the street with a sigh of relief. The press pack had gone, and she walked down towards the gates, smiling thanks to the police officer that let her out into the street beyond. It had been a long day, there was another to come, and her crush on the Prime Minister was developing into full-blown lust.

Aaron Hotchner x Male Reader
request from anon: Thank you for sharing your writing on here! A blurb idea, because I hardly see any male readers, is that maybe Hotch has figured out he’s attracted to men too and has a boyfriend? Someone Hotch can go home to and be taken care of by them, someone Jack trusts? Because hotch spends all his time caring for the team, his s/o really spoils him with affection and TLC. I’m really soft for that idea, and the team being real pleased he’s found someone who appreciates him again. Hope you’re doing well! a/n: i wanted to give this a little more attention than a blurb, so it turned into a Whole Thing™ words: 2790 warnings: swearing, some drinking, derek being charming, and emily prentiss: patron saint of The Gays™
i don't have a specific male!reader taglist yet, so i added all yall on my gn!reader list, so nobody would miss this! lemme know if you wanna stay on the male!reader list or not - you’ll never hurt my feelings :)

Aaron came home to all the lights off save one, illuminating a little scene before him - dinner (still hot) on the coffee table, a glass of wine, and you, holding the remote ready to start a movie.
He smiled, set his briefcase down, and slipped his shoes off.
“Jack’s at Jess’s,” you said, before he could ask. “I thought it would be a nice surprise to spend the evening, just you and me.”
He crossed to the couch and sat down, pressing a sweet kiss to your lips. “It’s a great surprise, thank you.” You grabbed his tie and tried to pull him down on the couch, but he pried your fingers off and laughed. “Let me change and I’ll come sit with you, alright?”
You picked up your glass of wine and tipped it his direction. “I’ll be here.”
It was true. When he returned and dropped down next to you, you were waiting for him. When he was firmly settled with dinner, you started the movie.
After a while, you asked, “Did the case go okay?”
He nodded. “We got ‘im. I had to stay and make sure the DA had a strong enough case, otherwise I would have been home yesterday.”
You leaned into him, and he wrapped an arm around you. “I don’t mind. Jack and I went out for a bike ride yesterday and didn’t miss you at all, not even a little.”
Aaron laughed. “Good.”
+++
“Damn it.”
Aaron forgot his lunch. He could see it in his mind’s eye, sitting there next to his travel mug of coffee on the kitchen island. Pinching the bridge of his nose between his thumb and forefinger, he had just resigned himself to a takeout lunch when his phone rang.
“Hotchner.”
“Babe, you left your lunch here,” the light amusement in your tone dissolved his sour mood, and he smiled despite himself.
“I noticed.”
He could hear you shuffling around in the background as you spoke. “I’ll swing by and leave it downstairs after I drop Jack at school. No more than an hour, okay?”
Aaron smiled and sat in his chair, leaning back. “What did I do to deserve you?”
You laughed. “Absolutely nothing. I’m just a sucker for charity cases.” There was a shuffle, and you heard Jack laugh. You were probably at the table, poking the kid in the ribs until he almost got sick with laughter. Before Aaron could respond again, you said, “Alright, love you, bye!” and hung up.
Aaron rolled his eyes and got to work.
True to your word, no more than an hour later found you at the front of the Quantico Federal Building, Aaron’s lunch and coffee in your hand. You’d never seen the inside, but you knew you were on the visitors list.
Fuck it.
You checked in, got your visitor’s badge, and made your way to the sixth floor with only a little bit of spatial confusion. You knew which bullpen was theirs immediately - you had yet to meet the team, but you’d seen pictures and heard enough stories to keep track of names and faces.
You quickly stepped through the glass doors, doing everything in your power to avoid directing too much attention to yourself. But alas, Aaron worked with profilers, and they all noticed you despite your best efforts.
JJ’s head shot up. “Is that -”
“Hotch’s travel mug? Yeah.” Derek squinted at you as you took the stairs two at a time up to your boyfriend’s door.
You knocked, and a crisp “Come in” sounded from inside.
Aaron couldn’t hide his surprise when you poked your head through the door, stepping in and closing it behind you. He stood, circling the desk and leaning against it.
Boundaries were important to him at work, you knew, so you refrained from untoward affection, stepping back to a respectable distance after you set his things next to the file on his desk.
“How’d you get past security?” He asked, and you knew it was a joke.
“I guess they’re letting just about anyone in, these days.”
Aaron nodded, in facetious consternation. “Looks like it.” He broke after a moment, offering you a small smile. “Thank you. You didn’t have to come all the way out here.”
You shrugged. “Wasn’t too hard.”
He glanced out the blinds. The entire team averted their eyes, bumping into each other in their haste to look busy.
You followed his gaze. “It’s okay, Aaron. Don’t feel pressured to introduce me to any of them - I didn’t mean to put you on the spot.” There was a little swoop in your stomach.
Did I overstep?
He sighed. “I know. You didn’t. It feels a little...ridiculous to be hiding anything from them after all this time.” He reached out, and you took his hand, still a couple of steps away. His eyes stayed on your linked hands as they swung a little between you. “I don’t mean to hide you from them.”
You squeezed his hand with a warm, small smile. “I know.” And you did. It was big for him - explicitly and obviously coming out to his team was bound to be terrifying, and to add a new person on top of that?
I don’t envy him.
Meanwhile, down in the bullpen, everyone was taking turns reporting back on what was going on behind the blinds.
“They’re holding hands, and not in a handshake way,” Emily said, covering her face with a folder as she looked up.
JJ chanced a look. “He’s been a lot less uptight recently.”
“He’s also not coming in as early. His arrival time is, on average, about thirty-seven minutes later than five months ago.”
Emily looked at Spencer like he’d grown another head. “You keep track of when we come in?”
Spencer didn’t look up from his book. “Of course.”
“I’m glad he has someone,” JJ noted lightly. “It’s good for him.”
Back up in the office, you took a step toward Aaron. “You don’t have to do anything you’re not comfortable with, my love.”
He huffed a laugh and ran his thumbs over your knuckles. “Come to Dave’s the next time we all get together.”
“Really?” Your eyebrows felt like they were going to meet your hairline they shot up so fast.
“Yeah. They’d love to meet you.”
Your brow furrowed, confused. “How do you know?”
He shrugged. “They’re very predictable.”
+++
Needless to say, Aaron was right. They politely, pointedly, and casually posed questions about Hotch’s lunchtime visitor until he wasn’t able to avoid them anymore. Thus, he invited you to Dave’s the next time the team had a night off.
You were excited, but admittedly a little nervous. You were all headed to the car, Jack (very carefully) carrying the brownies you’d made that afternoon.
He was chatting away, telling you stories you’d already heard, about JJ and Emily and Derek and Spencer and Dave and Henry and etc. etc. etc.
You loved that kid.
When Aaron pulled up to the house, Jack jumped out of the car and walked through the front door like he owned the place. It made you laugh.
Aaron looked over, a fond smile on his face. “What?”
“Jack. He just -” you made a vague gesture with your hand - he just goes and goes, and Aaron laughed.
After a moment, you two sobered. He reached for your hand, and you laced your fingers with his.
“They’re going to love you. You know that.”
You snorted. “I certainly don’t.”
Aaron kissed the back of your hand and covered it, so two of his hands were holding one of yours. “Are you ready?”
“Are you?”
He patted your hand twice by way of an answer, releasing you and opening his door. You followed suit, waiting for him on the sidewalk.
When you actually looked, you realized how truly massive Dave’s house was. Aaron had told you he was well-off, with his book royalties and other savings, but the beautiful and tasteful mansion before you spoke to a bank account that had eight figures, rather than six.
Aaron stepped forward and offered you his hand. You took it. He led you up the flagstone path and through the front door, opening it without preamble.
The foyer was beautiful, opening to a staircase, the living room, and some kind of den or parlor off to the side. Aaron led you to the kitchen, where a statuesque woman with dark brown hair was mixing a drink. Emily.
She turned when she heard you enter, and a wide smile broke out across her face. “Hi!”
You dropped Aaron’s hand and offered it to her. She shook it readily, and you found yourself mirroring her smile. “Hi. Emily, right?”
She nodded, and spared a glance at Hotch. “Hotch, you know it’s polite to introduce guests.”
He huffed in good humor and gestured pedantically as he spoke. “Emily, this is my boyfriend, Y/N. Y/N, Agent Emily Prentiss.”
You were very impressed by his lack of hesitation over the word boyfriend, as it had been a topic of discussion in the past.
“It’s so juvenile. I feel like I’m in high school.” Aaron chuckled, staring up at the ceiling with his hands laced behind his head.
You rolled over onto his chest. “I can’t be your partner - you’ve already been a lawyer and I would hate to confuse people. You’re the one with a juris doctorate, not me.” You rested your chin on his pec, giving just a little more weight than was necessary.
He dropped one of his arms, and you scooted up to fit nearly under it. “Is it at all weird to have a boyfriend in one’s forties?”
You shrugged. “I think it’s whimsical.”
“Oh yeah, that’s me.” He laughed. “Whimsical in the extreme.”
Emily’s voice was warm and genuine when she told you, “It’s a pleasure to meet the person who keeps him,” she jabbed her index finger at Hotch, “in line.”
You laughed, the anxiety melting little by little. “Bold of you to assume anyone can keep him in line.”
She snorted. “Don’t I know it.”
Hotch crossed his arms over his chest. “Guys, I’m right here.”
“And?” You and Emily answered simultaneously.
He shook his head with a smile. “C’mon. If you want to continue making fun of me, there’s plenty of ammunition out back.”
You offered your arm to Emily, and she took it daintily. “Such a gentleman.” She looked over her shoulder as she started walking you to the back patio. “How’d you snag this one?”
“Apparently, he has a thing for charity cases,” Aaron deadpanned.
A few pairs of eyes flickered to you when you stepped out, and Emily’s hand squeezed you reassuringly. You already loved her.
Hotch came up to your side and grabbed your hand as Emily stepped away, stopped by two men who had to be Derek and Spencer (who needed a mediator for some inane, hair-splitting dispute they were having).
A couple who you assumed were JJ and Will smiled at you as you approached.
“JJ, Will, this is Y/N.” Hotch said, a little more confidence in his voice than before.
“I’m the boyfriend,” you supplied, and JJ laughed.
“I’m so glad you could make it!” She leaned close to you, and you dipped your head to listen. “We’ve been asking about you since you stopped by a couple of weeks ago.”
You raised your chin in a knowing fashion as you leaned back, once again including Hotch and Will in the conversation. “Ah, I see. So there’s lore?”
“Definitely.” She pursed her lips in mock solemnity.
You matched her facetious tone. “Don’t believe everything you hear.”
JJ broke then, smiling at you once more. “I never make that mistake.” Just then, a little blond boy ran up to her, attaching himself to her leg. She automatically put a hand on his head and gestured to you. “Henry, can you say hello to Mr. Y/N? He’s a really special friend of Hotch’s - like Miss Savannah is to Derek.”
“Hi.”
You crouched to Henry’s level, offering your fist. A look of satisfaction crossed his face as you bumped fists, your hands exploding out of it (with sound effects). “It’s so nice to meet you, man. Were you playing soccer over there?”
He nodded. “Yeah. Jack’s really good but he lets me get goals.”
“Wow.” You raised your eyebrows. “That’s really nice of him, and I bet you learn a lot, too.”
Jack called Henry from across the yard, and he offered you one last adorable grin before sprinting off. You rose, checking in with Hotch as you did so. JJ and Will were distracted watching Henry for the moment, so they missed the awe that crossed Aaron’s face for just a moment.
Your eyebrows pulled. What?
He shook his head. Nothing. But there was something there. Something fond and altogether content.
You heard Emily come up behind you before you saw her, so you turned as she approached with Derek, Dave, and Spencer.
You offered your hand first to Derek, and shot a smile to Spencer. Hotch had warned you before you left the house that Spencer didn’t shake hands.
“Nice to meet you, man. Derek Morgan.” Morgan’s grip was firm and warm. “Emily was just telling me I owe you a thanks for reminding Hotch he has a sense of humor.” Derek’s smile ate up his whole face as he beamed at you. It very nearly stole your breath - he was stunning, and smart. The way he phrased his introduction made it unnecessary to re-introduce yourself, and you were sure that soothed whatever remained of Hotch’s anxiety.
Hotch’s deadpan was decidedly dry. “Funny.”
That’s a good sign.
Spencer was quiet, but there was a little smile playing at his lips. He looked just over your shoulder, and seemed to communicate with someone behind you for a moment. It was only the barest changes in expression, but you’d been around Aaron long enough to know a silent conversation when you saw one, no matter how subtle. The outcome of the conversation looked good, as Spencer stifled another smile and looked over at Hotch.
You then offered your hand to Dave, who took it in both of his. “It is so good to finally meet you.” He shot a sly smile at Hotch. “I was beginning to wonder if you were a figment of my imagination a couple weeks ago.”
“I promise I am very real,” you said with a laugh. “It’s so great to meet all of you. I’ve heard so much about you.”
“All bad I hope,” JJ chirped from over your shoulder as she approached.
You nodded. “The worst.”
Aaron kissed your temple as the rest laughed, and you could feel the small smile resting on his lips. He sure was smiling a lot tonight, and you couldn’t help but feel a little proud that you had a lot to do with it.
A woman you could only assume was Penelope bounced up and swooped under Derek’s arm. “What did I miss?”
Hotch laughed (he laughed!) and introduced you. “Y/N, this is our tech analyst Penelope Garcia. Garcia, this is Y/N.”
Instead of a handshake, she just got out from under Derek’s arm and gave you a hug. You relaxed right into her.
She let you go after a second, but kept her hands on your upper arms. “I am so glad you’re here. I’ve been hoping someone would come along and snag our fearless leader before too long.” She winked, and it warmed you.
The rest of the evening flowed smoothly, eventually moving to the living room, and then to goodnights. Everyone wished you a warm goodbye, and Dave kissed you on both cheeks before letting you go. Jack was apparently spending the night at the Jareau-LaMontagne household, so you and Aaron were alone on the drive back.
You relaxed into the seat as he sped along the highway, his hand locked in yours across the center console. “That was really fun.” You looked over at him, finding less tension in him than you’d ever seen before. “Your team is incredible.”
“I know it. They’re the best at what they do.”
You kissed the back of Aaron’s hand. “I’ve heard it helps to have a great boss, or so Penelope tells me.”
He huffed a little laugh through his nose. “She is the authority on such things, as I understand it.”
The car was quiet for a few minutes.
“I - “ Hotch cleared his throat, but his gaze never wavered from the road. “I can’t tell you how much tonight meant to me.”
You squeezed his hand. “It was nothing.” You were lying, and he knew it, but at the end of the day, you’d do anything for him.
He smiled, broad and genuine, and you decided then that Aaron’s joy was your favorite sight in the whole world.

You’re the Piano Man
Steve/Tony one-shot inspired by that video of CEvans playing the piano. I wanted the fic, so I wrote the fic.
*
Steve didn’t spend a lot of time in Tony’s penthouse.
They spent a lot of time on the common floor, with the rest of the Avengers, in the workshop or on Steve's floor. Tony said that was because it felt more home-y than his own floor. So when it was just the two of them, they would go to Steve’s floor. They slept there and ate there, and Steve almost forgot that the penthouse existed.
So when Steve asked Jarvis where Tony was, and Jarvis said the penthouse, Steve was surprised.
“Sir is just gathering a few items from his bedroom; I am sure that he would not mind if you met him there,” Jarvis told Steve.
“Ok, that works. Thank you, Jarvis.” Steve stepped into the elevator and heard it whir to life.
“Of course, Captain Rogers.”
Steve thought about what Tony could be grabbing. Most of his clothes have migrated into Steve’s bedroom, and most other things were always kept in the workshop. Steve’s pondering was cut short when the doors to the elevator opened.
As Steve wandered into the penthouse, he realized that he had never really looked around before. The few times he had been there, he had been… preoccupied or something of the sort. So he decided to take his time before making his way to Tony.
The first thing he noticed was the modern design. It was all clean lines and metal; it looked like a museum. Steve saw no personal artifacts anywhere in the living room or hallways. It was quite the juxtaposition to Steve’s warm and full living room. He could understand why Tony wanted to spend his time on Steve’s floor.
The second, more surprising, thing Steve saw was a big object shoved in the corner, in front of the floor to ceiling windows. Steve walked over to it and pulled the cover back.
In front of him sat a beautiful grand piano.
Steve ran his hand along the top of the piano, admiring the shine and quality of it. He went to lift the lid off of the keys and was happy to find that it wasn’t locked. He pressed down on middle C, listening to the resonances of the note. It sounded as if the piano had hardly been used, which doesn’t surprise him. Tony doesn’t strike him as the type to have enough time to sit down and break in a piano.
Steve pulled the bench away from the keys and sat down. He sat his hand on top of the keys and hit foot over the pedal, and began to play.
His fingers flowed over the keys like it hadn’t been years since he had played. The muscle memory was taking over and guiding his hands in a way that surprises him. The soft, muted melody flowed out of the piano, and he closed his eyes and let the music wash over him.
Before long, he stopped, realizing he doesn’t remember what comes next. It's been too long to remember it all.
“I didn’t know that you played.” Steve startled at the voice coming from behind him,
Tony must have snuck in when he was playing, and Steve didn’t hear him. He was sitting on the couch in one of Steve’s sweaters, which was even oversized on him, and a pair of sweatpants. He looked so comfy, which stood out against the modern backdrop.
“Yeah, uh, I learned on this beat-up old piano when I was a kid. I couldn’t do a lot because of the asthma, but I could play the piano. This is so much better than the one I had, though. It’s beautiful,” Steve tried to move on from the topic of his childhood. It wasn’t something that he likes to think about often.
“Well, it is a top of the line Steinway piano.” Tony walked over and sat on the bench next to him.
“Do you play?” Steve questioned as Tony ran his hands over the keys.
“Nah, I could never get into it. My mom would always play for me as a kid; wanted me to be cultured and everything. I liked it when she would play for me, but I couldn’t be bothered to learn it myself. I don’t have the ear to really feel the music, as she liked to say.” Tony sounded a little lost in his memory as he spoke.
“Oh yeah? What did she play for you?”
Tony shot up and walked over to a semi-hidden bookcase. He pulled out a folder and walked back over to Steve.
“This was my favourite piece that she played. Rue des Trois Frères by Fabrizio Paterlini. It was something that she played when my brain wouldn’t slow down.” Tony was holding the sheet music to the song.
“Let me see. I’m not the best at sight-reading, but I’ll see if I can get it.”
“Really? You don’t have to.” Tony looked somewhat shy, sharing this part of his past.
“I would love to.”  Steve looked at Tony and smiled; he would do anything to make this man happy.
Tony didn’t say anything and just placed the sheet music down, spreading it out so that Steve was able to see all of it. Steve took a few moments to get himself oriented and looked it over. The music itself wasn’t too complicated, so Steve took a deep breath and began to play.
The melody was sweet and sad at the same time. Steve found himself getting lost in the music as he played. The timbre of the piano and ease of the harmony fit so well together that Steve felt transported.
He could imagine a young Tony sitting at his mother’s side, just as he was sitting at Steve’s, feeling weary from the weight of the world. He could see young Tony taking comfort in this song that his mother played and letting himself forget where he was for a moment. Tony had said that he could never feel the music, but Steve was sure young Tony would feel the music played by his mother’s hands. Steve finds himself lost to that reality as the music continues through him.
The piece is only about two minutes long, and as it draws closer to the end, Steve is brought back to the world.
When he plays the last chord written on the sheet music, Steve looks over at Tony. He finds Tony sitting quite still, eyes closed, with a small smile gracing his face and a single tear rolling down his cheek. They sit in silence for a few moments, neither one wanting to break the magic that has been created. However, after a while, Tony clears his throat.
“Thank you,” is all that Tony says, voice steady but quiet.
“Anytime, sweetheart.” Steve turned so that he was facing Tony.
Steve placed a finger under Tony’s chin and tilted his face up. He caught Tony’s eyes and tried to communicate how much he loved him before leaning in to kiss him. The kiss wasn’t heated or full of fire, just every ounce of unconditional love and support they had for each other.
They drew each other in, twisting together like two polyphonic lines of music that form the most beautiful harmony when joined together.
When Steve pulled away and was able to take a deep breath, he remembered why he had come to the penthouse in the first place.
“So doll, what were you doing up here anyway?” Steve asked while a blush formed on Tony’s face.
“Oh, um, right. Ok, don’t make fun of me, but…” Tony stuttered as he walked over the spot on the couch that he had vacated and grabbed a box that Steve hadn’t noticed.
“I’ll try my very hardest.” Steve chuckled a little as he walked over to meet Tony.
“I’m sure you will,” and when Tony opened the box, Steve understands why tony had come up here to collect things.
Inside the box was a pair of what looked to be old birthday cards and other photos. It looked like some from Tony’s childhood and some more recent of the team. He can see that they all hold sentimental value, and Tony probably likes them close, in his home, and this floor is no longer his home. Home was with Steve.
However, one photo did make him try his very hardest.
What caught Steve’s eye and made him want to laugh was a photo of Young Tony, dressed in a Captain America costume, looking happy as can be. Steve reached into the box and pulled it out and couldn’t contain himself.
“You look so cute, sweetheart.” Steve laughed, looking at the face of his disgruntled boyfriend.
“Yeah, yeah, I know. I always looked cute. Come on, get it all out.”
“No, I’m serious; you look adorable. It’s like you knew we were destined to be together.” Steve watched Tony’s face soften as he spoke.
“Maybe I did. I mean, maybe not the whole, dating-falling in love- mind blowing sex- thing.”
“Tony-”
“But I guess I figured that the most amazing genius and the world's best captain had something in common. The universe couldn’t keep that awesome apart, know could it? That would go against the laws of everything good.” Tony had a joking tone to his voice, but Steve knew that words were sincere.
“A true crime against humanity.” Steve pulled Tony into a hug and felt him melt into it.
He felt, more than heard, Tony’s muffled whisper of I love you into his chest, and Steve kisses the crown of his head.
“I love you too, sweetheart. So much even the universe knows it,” and then it was Tony’s turn to laugh.
They continued just to hold each other for a while until Tony decided he had something else on his mind.
“Alright, enough of this sappy stuff. I want to see what else you can do, piano man.” Tony was pulling Steve back over to the piano, while Steve raised his eye at the nickname. “Right, you don’t know that song yet. We will put it on the list.”
Tony pushed Steve down on the piano bench and sat down next to him once again.
“Any request?” Steve asked.
“Anything. Something that will make me continue to fall wildly in love with you.” Tony batted his eyelashes while Steve rolled his eyes.
“Let me see what I can do.”
And with that, Steve began to play.

Long Due Replies

Hi everyone! It’s been some crazy few months for me. Real life has taken over completely so I didn’t have a chance to pay attention to my inbox. There are lot of asks on troubleshooting and I apologise for not being able to help on time. I hope everyone who needed help has got it somehow >.< There’s a crazy amount of messages, so I’m going to hide it under the cut.

Hi Criquette, I’m sorry because this is dumb, but I don’t understand how to install your neighbourhood lighting mod on an installation of Ultimate Collection... do I change out every lighting.txt file I can find across all the expansion and stuff packs? :/
Thank you!!!!
Hi @shutupshirley! I’m not a big specialist on windows version of TS2 and UC but I believe there are two folders you have to look at and they are ‘Fun with Pets’ and ‘Open for Business’

What do you imagine residents of Feverfew are called? I keep doing Peruvian but like Ferfewian or some
Oh, yes, I was thinking about this matter at some point! Feverfewian is what I came up with. I even found a wiki article about different names for different town inhabitants to sort of made it up a bit, but I haven’t write down the result I had and now I’ve lost it. I think feverfewians sounds best, it can even have some silly derivatives like ‘fewies’

Hi Criquette, I'm getting into SC4 and have been getting the hang of it while using the sims 2 hood planner. I've been starting to use bridges and have been using yours. When I put in the tile measurement into the hood planner (ex: 15 tile = 8 in SC4), it doesn't exactly line up in game. Does this usually happen for you and you put in a piece of fake road in the middle or am I just doing it wrong and it should line up super nicely? Thank you for all your wonderful creations!
Hi @3sushiroll! Yes, TS2 parses SC4 roads this way. I always put some decorative road in the gap or I make the shores narrower so that the bride would overlap the road. But to make slopes where the road ends equal, you have to use TS2 terraforming tool to make this flat empty piece of terrain right after the road end into slope so that it would look like the opposite.

Hi there, hope you're doing well! I downloaded your simple walkways set and noticed that they float. They don't sit on the ground properly. Is there anything I can do on my end to make them sit closer to the ground? Any help would be appreciated, thank you!
Hey anon! Thank you! Yes, this old set of walkways was made this way. Maxis made neighborhood mode roads float, so I had to do the same with road related decorations. But now you can use these Cobblestone paths or side walks from the Rural Charm, they’re as close to the ground as possible.
Anonymous said:
hey! would it ever be possible for you to create recolors of the cobblestone sidewalks in red brick/cobblestone?
Hi anon! I don’t think so :| I can’t even find the time to fix some Ferverfew related issues >.<

Hi Criquette. I liked Feverfew very much. I would like to make some of the houses multi-unit, keeping your doors in place. Is it possible to add the function of apartments to these doors? :)
Hi nonne! As far as I’m aware, you can only default replace those apartment doors which is quite useless. What you can do, is to put an apartment door right behind the front door. This, obviously, would eat up the space but could work as a solution.
Anonymous said:
Hello! I just downloaded Feverview and it's gorgeous! I can't believe all the little details you added, the effort and love you put into this project is incredible. I just had a small question: a few residential lots are fake apartments, I was wondering if you know how to turn them into functional apartments
Hi anon! I’m glad you liked Feverfew! ^__^ In theory, you can use SimPE or Lot Editor to change lot type from residential to apartment and then implement apartment doors somehow, but since I don’t have AL in my Super Collection, I have zero experience in that.

Hi Criquette! :) I just realized recently that if I delete objects in game, I have to delete first the recolors of it. I've already deleted a bunch of objects without knowing about this, so now my downloads folders has houndreds of recolors without meshes. Do you know about anything I can do to find and delete these orphans? (Delphys download organizer just can't make difference)
Hi anon! I’m definitely not a helper on the matter of keeping Downloads folder organised, sorry ^^’‘ I would thing about finding sets of files with similar names keeping eye on the absence of the word ‘mesh’ in the names, and looking at the file size at the same time. And that would take ages, obviously.

Hello Criquette. I love Feverfew so much. But I have a problem. The grass and NHood objects are flickering together and it looks bad. How can i fix it? Thanks.
Hello Arda! That’s because of the neighborhood camera you’re using. I’d recommend you to install this particular camera just to get rid of flickering.

Hello! First of great content! Always been a fan! I was wondering if you could give a bit of advice with hood deco, I have downloaded an Ocean floor from Gwenke, and in lot view it only shows up at the very far edges, around my lot it is missing (it does show when render is set to small though). And it shows on beach lots too, I was wondering if you know of way to make it so that it is seen no matter what the view distance is etc? (I have the relevant cheats on btw) Thank you in advance!
Hey nonnie! Thanks :) Have you ticked off object hiding in the settings? Other than that, it could be camera issues.
Anonymous said:
is there a way to stop neighborhood decor from fading? I know there is the „boolprop dontmergenhflora“ cheat, but I still get some fading. for excample when I look at the lot from the street the NH decor by the street fades
That’s definitely sounds like object hiding option from the game settings :}

Hey how are you ? I hope all is well. I was wondering how is it that ts2 has no ski deco but in ts1 we had ski slope and skate lake !?? I was wondering can you and the sim community make deco or interactive items such as a ski slope or even snow shoes or just something that goes with seasons n BV pack ?
Hello anon! I hope you’re well too! Ski slope and winter sports related decos is something I wanted to make since 2016, but never had enough time to do so. Sometimes I even think about available TS2 technologies to make an animated ski lift and umm.. may be in the next ten years? ^^’‘

hello!! i'm sorry if u already answered something like this (i searched but found nothing) but the better nightlife isn't working for me :(( i put the better nightlife+voielle water on download fold and the decorations still flashing in pink light, i did something wrong? (i use win10) sorry for the inconveniente
Hey anon! Sometimes you have to do these weird steps in order to make it work:
remove Better Nightlife + water mod from your downloads folder,
load the game, load the neighborhood, make some changes, exit game
put Better Nightlife with water back. Toggle day/night with ‘L’ key to see if it works. If it’s not, than the problem is somewhere else. Pink flashing also could be unrelated to Better Nightlife, so I’d recommend to check TS2 graphics setting for Win10 manuals available.

Hello there, I'm having a problem with the rural charm, on lot view the roads have yellowish boards (idk how to explain exactly). I saw that was because of CuriousB terrain, but I don't have it downloaded anymore so I'm kinda confused. What should it be? Sorry for bothering,,,
Hello, anon! What’s current season you’re having in your game? It can be the season lighting differences that make roadside and terrain grass colors different. If it’s not, I’d check the Downloads folder to see if there’s still some terrain DRs I’ve forgot about.

Hi criquette! I was wondering if you have any idea why some hood deco cc crashes on mac, like palm 1 to 4 from the tropical 4t2 set by leoz94. Leoz94 says the only difference is the high polycount, but I don't think that's it, it looks a bit high to me but not insanely so, I have  other stuff in that range with no problem... Have a nice - evening?
Hey @pinkflamingosims! I hope you’re doing well! Yes, some hood decos are really make the game crash and frankly speaking, I think that’s jsut package related issues like broken references in the resource tree. The best way to fix this type of hood decos is to make a clean and stable new clone and replace mesh/textures again.
Anonymous said:
Hello and thank you for amazing Feverfew map! I have a problem... ground is flashing red and I cannot fix it, do you have solution for this problem? It's been soooo long when I last played Sims 2 so apparently I did something wrong when installed CC. :(
Hello anon! Thank you! Oh, red flashing could be the result of lighting mod not being installed correctly. I’d start with getting rid of any lighting mods to see if it helps.

Hi Criquette. I just downloaded your terrain of Forkshire, it looks great! I know it has been since 2009 that you uploaded the terrain but I was wondering if you have a completed Neighborhood with houses, trees and all for download? I would love to play your version. Thanks.
Hi Patchman! Oh, goodness no! :D That was 12 years ago, those TS2 files are long gone since then.

Hi Criquette, first things first, I love your work thank you so much, you inspire me! Now the question: I have been using the dirt roads from your Rural Lanes set and found that sometimes it is difficult if not impossible to fit them to the slopes of steep terrain. Would it be possible to instead create road pieces as a texture like your Neighborhood Decals? That way they would "stick" onto the terrain regardless of shape. Wondering what you think? Love!
Hello and thank you, anon! The problem with the decals – we can’t see it in lot mode yet. And it must be a DR only so we’d have to ditch one of the Maxis’ decals for dirt road, which isn’t great too.
Anonymous said:
Hi Criquette! Will Betternightlife mod ever be updated to work with lighting mods with dawn and dusk? Is there any that already works with it? I really want to use the light up hood decos!
Hey anon! You can use it with lighting mods that add dusk and dawn to the game. For instance, there’s one here by @dreadpirate.
Anonymous said:
Hey Criquette! I recently used your template to make lit-up hood deco buildings using the Better Nightlife mod. The day text was great! However, the night texture was being clipped by the day texture. That is, some parts of the day texture was showing through the night texture. Is there a fix for this?
Hello nonnie! I’d recommend to check the meshes to see if day/night parts clip through each other and if they aren’t I’d check if all the day/night TXMT data is correct.
@criquette said:
I've installed Fewerfew following all your istructions. Apparently it works but the night lamps are flashing pink even ig I've installed the mod better night light. It seems that this mod does not work properly. Any recommendation?
Being Criquette, you should know the solution to that issue yourself :P Just kidding, sorry, couldn’t resist! If it flashes pink only by night than you have to check your ‘Downloads’ folder for conflicts. If it’s flashing constantly day and night, than I’d better check graphics setting using some windows related guides available across the Internet.

Hello, I love Feverfew and it's amazing. I have a problem where Linden Tree 1A isn't showing up in my game even though it's in my downloads folder. Also the railroad tracks are flashing blue, and those are in my folder too. Thanks in advance!  :)
Hello anon! What type of the trees you’re using? Stand alone or default ones? If you’re using defaults, you can find the trees under Maxi’s oaks accordingly. As for the flashing blue railway tracks, check if you have this set in your ‘Downloads’ folder :)

Hello Criquette, before asking for help, I came to say that the Brazilian community loves your creations. But, to get to the point, anyway, I have been thinking about creating a Hood (inspired by Rio de Janeiro), so I would like to know how to create Deco Hoods for my game (the statue of Christ), I can't find that anywhere, Would you help me?
Hi there! Ah, most kind, thank you ^^ Well, there’s no big deal in creating hood decos. You have to switch your SimPE to advanced mode and after that neighborhood decoration will be visible in the catalogue to be cloned. I assume you already know how to make lot mode objects and know how to create, edit or convert meshes/textures though.
@hideshio said:
Hello! I found your train set (and it's AMAZING) on mts and was wondering if you had a railroad crossing sign? With the lights, X, and the red/white hand that goes down. Or the lights that go across a pole above the railroads. Thank you!  =D
Hello @hideshio! Well, there is a railway crossing sign with lights and red/white hand included in this set :D it’s not animated though. But still!

Hi criquette, I’m a huge admirer of you work and I was wondering if you had any advice regarding road placement. Specifically the difficulty of road pieces that are deco only being able to be placed underneath the actually roads leaving it looking a little off.. if there a way to raise them higher before placing them or some kind of work around?
Hey anon, thank you! Unfortunately, there’s no way to make decorative road pieces work for lot mode and neighborhood mode at the same time. If you lift them so they look okay in hood mode, they will float in the air in lot mode. Since my latest creations are lot mode oriented, I’ve decided to save my efforts on making road pieces even with neigborhood mode roads.

Hey Criquette. I noticed that in my Feverfew none of the buildings across the street of Feverfew Sports Hall show up. I know those are supposed to be hood deco and look like duplex buildings, but I can't figure out what I'm missing. I deleted and redownloaded everything and couldn't fix it. Also the river ends at the first bridge in front of the cathedral, so the boats next to it appear to be flying. What is going on?
Hey anon! There’s definitely some files missing. If you’ve checked and redownloaded all the files, try to replace the Feverfew neighborhood folder with initial one. The game never restores disappeared hood decos by itself. Even if they were placed in the folder after their absence is discovered.
@simping-simmer said:
Hi Criquette, am I remembering correctly that there is a trick you can do with SimPE to change the height of individual pieces of hood deco? I’m struggling with putting ships in my dock because if I change a CC ship’s placeability to be able to be on both land and sea, it just sinks, but if I only keep it on sea, it can’t get close enough to the shore to place it in my docks. Does this make sense at all? Lol
Hello @simping-simmer, you’re absolutely right. You can change the height of placed hood decos via SimPE. Things you need to do are described here and here

Hello! I love all your work.  I was wondering if you had ever thought of making some desert roads along the lines of the Terrain Mod: Dusty Roads for Desert Neighbourhoods by Stev84? I love the way this looks in my desert, but unfortunately, this mod makes the road in live mode a floor, which then makes you unable to place driveways.
Hey anon! Thanks ^^ Frankly, I don’t have any plans on creating any desert related CC at all :|

Hello Criquette. I would like to thank you for all the amazing work you have done creating content for sims 2. Thanks to you all my projects are possible. My question is: Chainlink fences for neighborhood deco... Do they exist? Searching the web these past day only found for build mode. Do you know of someone who already make some for deco hood? Or kindly will you be able to make some if its not much work? My sports fields and Industrial zones will be pleased for sure! Once again, thank you! :)
Hey anon and thank you! I don’t think hood deco chainlink fences were created by someone yet, but they definitely would be a great addition to the game. I was going to create some while working on Feverfew, but never had enough time to do that. May be i’ll make one at some point in the future!

Hello, Criquette. Do you know of any way to place lots without the area around it moving? I downloaded Ousmeo's remake of your Dullsfielde and read his og post using the waytime machine. When viewing that post, Tumblr recommended similar posts, one of which seemed to be a tip to prevent good deco from moving when placing lots nearby, but that post wasn't archived, so I can't visualise it. My guess is that if anyone else knows about this, it must be the best hood decorator that ever was ;-)
Hello anon! Ugh, this TS2 ‘feature’ is driving me mad quite often too! Unfortunately, there’s no easy way to get rid of it. The only way to fix the consequences is to backup initial hood folder and when you finish placing lots, replace spoiled terrain with the initial one with SimPE or HoodReplace.

Hi ! Just wanted to ask , how do you put your own slugcat skin in game? I know it's works with fancy slugcat mod,,, but i don't know how to use it ;-; , can you teach me
Tumblr media
i can try! although i only learned most of this very recently, so i’m not the most knowledgeable. i also use BepInEx as the modloader.
im going to start with the assumption that you already have fancy slugcats installed and working, after this you’re going to need the custom assets and custom tails mod. both can be found on RainDB.
keep in mind, each of these mods contains a read me with more information, so reference those if you don’t understand something in my explanation. everything is under a read more as this post is very long.
ive also attempted to be as detailed with this tutorial as possible.
and lastly, please read through the entire tutorial before starting work as it’s very likely you’ll end up having to redo things otherwise, mostly because of the way custom tails functions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
part 1: custom tails
we’ll start with adding a custom tail, the custom tails mod requires ConfigMachine, fancy Slugcats and Custom Assets. (publicity stunt is only required if you still use Partiality, not if you use BepInEx) download and apply these mods first. (the .dll files)
once you’ve downloaded custom tails you’ll find an “examples” folder in the .zip file, this contains the files you’ll edit to make your own custom tail.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
each of the example tails is shown on the thumbnail for the custom tails mod, so you can get an idea of how they look in action.
sidenote: the devil tail png is completely white, and thus it can be hard or impossible to see on a default photo viewer, open it on something like paint tool sai and add a colored background. once you’ve selected which base you want to use, extract (or just copy and paste) that tail png along with its txt file somewhere you can work on it, desktop works just fine. now you can make whatever modifications you want to the tail, i’ll use my firecracker tail as an example.
note: if you leave parts of the sprite purely white, it will get colored in with whatever color you choose in the fancy slugcats menu, its essentially transparency.
Tumblr media
once you’re happy with how it looks, it’s time to apply it. firstly, change the tails name into something recognizable, like FRtail.png
now take your txt file and name it the same thing you named your tail, and make sure to be exact or things might break.
then open said txt file and change the default tail name into your tails name.
Tumblr media
once all that is done, you have to navigate into the atlases folder in your rain world install. to get there open up steam, find RW and right click it in the menu to bring up this text box
Tumblr media
choose “properties” at the very bottom to open up this menu
Tumblr media
select “local files” on the side, and when you see this screen press “browse” and it will open up the root folder of RW.
Tumblr media
(i have quite a bit more stuff in my install folder due to mods, so don’t worry about not having all of it) from here you want to open the “Assets” folder near the top, from there you open Futile > Resources > Atlases.
now all you need to do is put both your tail png and txt files into Atlases like so:
Tumblr media
note: capital letters matter, if you used capital letters in your name you have to use those same capital letters in every name, for example if you use frtail.txt and FRtail.png it wont work. it all has to be the same in every case.
once that’s done, go back to your RW root folder (the one where RainWorld.exe is located) and open the “ModConfigs” folder, from there go to Fancy slugcats > custom heads. it will be empty if you haven’t made any modifications yet.
Tumblr media
once youre here, make a new txt file and name it the same name you’ve used for your tail.png and txt files. then open it and type the same name inside it, don’t forget to save.
now you should be ready to open up RW, remember to enable the required mods: fancy slugcats, custom assets, custom tails, config machine and publicity stunt (partiality only)
note: if your game opens up to a black screen and wont start, it usually means something is wrong with the txt files, either you forgot to add a name inside one of them, you forgot to save when you added the name, or you’ve misspelled the name. double check all the names for your png and txt files.
now then, let’s get to adding your tail to your slugcat
Tumblr media
once the game is open, navigate to settings and open mod config, from there you should see custom tails in the menu. once here type your custom tails name into the “sprite” box, remember to be exact with the name.
if the name shows up red, you’ve made a mistake somewhere in the process, if it shows up as white, its been successfully added!
if you touch the sliders it will add a gradient to your tail and undo/cover up any sprite changes, so keep them as black. you can also change your tails size in the fancy slugcats menu as usual.
Tumblr media
now you have a snazzy tail to show off to the world! “.......but wait” i might hear you say “my tail isn’t the same color as the image i made!”
that’s because whatever color you apply to your slugcat in the fancy slugcats menu gets applied on top of the image you made. meaning if your slugcat is a rather more dark color, it will make your tail darker as well. meaning not only will bright aspects of it not be bright anymore, the base of your tail will be darker than your base slugcat color, thus it wont match. this is a problem i ran into as my slugcat is purple with bright accents.
the transparency i mentioned earlier helps with this “if you leave parts of the sprite purely white, it will get colored in with whatever color you choose in the fancy slugcats menu, its essentially transparency.“
you can use this transparency to make the base of your tail match the rest of your slugcats body, now all the white will be filled in with whatever color you’ve chosen in the menu, however it still wont fix all other parts of it having the base color applied to them.
Tumblr media
now if your base slugcat color is white, you don’t have to worry about any of this at all! the tail will stay how you made it!
if your slugcat will be lightly colored but not completely white, or your dark slugcat will have dark markings, this is all stuff you can reasonably account for while making the markings themselves (once you’ve made the txt and png files and put them in the right places, you can edit the png in the atlases folder directly) but if you want to do something more close to my slugcat, we’re going to have to do it by changing the color of slugcat using sprites.
part 2: sprite edits
so, to get around this problem and to get the freedom to edit the sprites however we like we’re going to be editing each sprite separately. this way you can virtually add anything you like to your slugcat, antlers, spikes, fur. although this might require you to change the position of the sprites to get them to line up properly in-game.
i’ll only touch on recoloring sprites as i haven’t edited the shape of any of them yet, i’ll update this tutorial with extra info once i’ve tried it out myself.
some of slugcats sprites have multiple versions that will get bundled in order to make the animations you see in game (head, arms, legs)
others are static sprites and only have one version (tail, body, hips)
Tumblr media
firstly, you’ll need to find the sprites you’re going to edit, all of these sprites are included in the custom assets zip file you downloaded from RainDB.
you’ll find slugcats sprites in Unpacked Atlases > RainWorld, extract this folder to make looking for the correct sprites easier.
note: all of the sprites are white by default, this makes them incredibly difficult to see in a folder without opening them in some external program, thus i’ve changed my windows settings to make the folder background dark (this can be found in Personalization)
Tumblr media
this folder includes the sprites of most of the creatures in RW, so picking out slugcats sprites can be a tad... difficult. thus i'll name every single sprite you’ll need to hopefully make it easier. BodyA, HipsA, PlayerArm0 to 12, FaceA0 to 8, FaceB0 to 8, FaceDead, FaceStunned, HeadA0 to 17
aaand all the leg sprites are in a png because they have so many names
Tumblr media
most of them can be found bunched up together in the RW folder, a tail texture isn’t included as that will still be handled through custom tails as detailed above.
now i suggest you make some way to store all of slugcats sprites neatly, as it will save you a lot of hassle in the long run. i separated all body part sprites into folders.
Tumblr media
now you’re free to make any edits you like to the sprites. however, i’ll go about this tutorial with the expectation the only edits are color edits, not shape edits, as again i don’t have experience with those.
once your sprites are all colored and neatly organized its time to compile them, each body part gets compiled into their own bunch (arms in one, legs in another) for this you’ll need a program called texture packer, i can’t provide a direct link because my post might get thrown into the void by tumblr, there is however a direct link in the custom assets read me.
once you’ve downloaded texture packer, heres an easy to follow short video tutorial made by AndrewFM on how to use it.
once your sprites are bundled you’ll go through the same process as with adding your custom tail. i’ll use arm sprites as an example.
Tumblr media
you’ll get a png file with all of your edited sprites in them, as well as a .json file that contains placement information, turn that json file into a txt by renaming it (yourarmname).txt
now open the txt file and rename every single part to whatever name you decided to give your arm sprites, but keep the numbers at the end of the sprite names, they are important.
note: do not rename the individual sprite png’s before they are packed
Tumblr media
now that your txt and png files are ready, drop them into the same Atlases folder in your RW install as you did with your custom tail, and similarly add another new txt file into ModConfig > FancySlugcats > CustomHeads and rename it to the same name you named your sprite, and add that exact same name inside the txt file itself.
if the game yet again refuses to start, remember to double check the names in the txt files.
now we’re ready to apply the sprites in-game, open up RW and head to setting > mod config,
Tumblr media
depending on which sprites you’ve edited, you’ll need to enter the sprite name into the specific field it belongs to, for me i’ll add the name to the arms section. you’ll get more details about what goes where when you hover over the text field.
for some of them, you’ll need to include A at the end of your sprite name, but only in the mod config menu
Tumblr media
this shows where they are needed.
now you need to repeat this process for each bundle of slugcats body parts and apply them. note: body and hips despite both being part of slugcats main body gets applied separately, and even though they only have one sprite each you still need to pack them with texture packer and go through the same process as for the others.
this all might seem tiresome, and in certain ways it definitely is, but once you’ve gotten the hang of the packing, adding to folders and applying the process gets a lot faster.
once all of your sprites are applied, legs, hips, body, head, arms, tail. you want to make sure in fancy slugcats settings to make your slugcats color pure white so it wont affect your custom sprite coloration in any way. however you can apply color to slugcats face through the menu as usual.
there is a known issue where slugcats fists when climbing poles don’t get colored, this issue currently can’t be fixed easily.
the end result? quite a fancy slugcat indeed!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
if i made any mistakes, or there’s extra info i should add, then message me and i’ll edit the post accordingly!
if there’s anything you can’t figure out no matter what you try, join the RW discord and ask people in the modding support channel, thats where i got most of my information from!
hopefully this is helpful to some of you! i spent quite a while making this tutorial so reblogs would be very much appreciated!

Hey, could you write a HC about Victor finding out that MC is secretly a great cook? Like seeing some great kitchen knives or gadgets in her apartment?
please, please please don’t hate me, I finished this request and then I realised you spoke about gadgets. But I thought the best way to know someone’s a good cook is to taste their cooking, anyway... hope you like it x
Title: a way to a man’s heart... Pairing: Victor x MC Words: 1,437
Tapping your pen against your notepad rhythmically, you couldn’t help but feel that something was wrong with Victor. To a casual observer nothing would be amiss, Victor still maintained his usual stern tone as he delivered the meeting with his taciturn expression and usual precision. But you tilted your head, squinting at his imposing figure, trying to figure out what was causing this strange feeling inside. You only kept half your mind on the meeting at hand, passively writing notes on the handouts and in your notebook, as other speakers chipped in to query certain points and Victor answered them with ease. Silently exhaling your breath from your lungs, you looked up at the clock calculating how long you had left before the meeting finished. ‘Ten minutes’ you groaned internally, before reengaging yourself with the meeting whilst continuing to make frequent glances at Victor to monitor his disposition. The meeting finally wrapped up, and as you stood and gathered your belongings, sorting handouts into your folder, a large hand gently covered the cutely patterned plastic. Raising your head with wide eyes you were startled by your boyfriend’s face being inches from yours.
“Victor!” you exclaimed jumping back slightly and looking around having only now noticed that the meeting room was now vacant.
Victor leaned back, resting lightly on the meeting room’s long table, “You need to be more aware of your surroundings, I called you twice Dummy.”
You huffed, pouting slightly at his comment, but stepped closer towards him, reaching up and lightly passing your hand up through his hair, thumb pressing against the furrow in his brows. “What’s wrong Victor?” you asked gently.
Victor sighed, “Nothing.”
“Victor.”
“...” Victor sighed once again, placing his hands on your hips and pulling you in so you stood between his legs, “If you had been paying attention in the meeting, you would have noticed that it’s been busy at LFG for the last couple of weeks. I’m sorry if it feels like I’ve been neglecting your recently.” His first sentence was teasing but he apologised sincerely.
Smiling fondly, you were quick to reassure him, “No, no, no Victor, I haven’t felt neglected at all. At all. I’m just worried that you’re overworking yourself,” tapping your finger against your chin a couple of times you thought over your plans for the evening, “how about instead of us going out to dinner, we go back to your place and I’ll cook us dinner?”
“You cook?” Victor scoffed smirking at you mercilessly, “Are you sure we won’t get food poisoning?”
“Hey!” you pushed at his chest as he laughed, “I actually can cook quite well, thank you very much.”
“I’ll believe it when I see it.”
“Oh, you will.” you crossed your arms, not backing down.
After Victor had gathered his belongings from his office, he led you into the empty elevator with a hand on the small of your back, you watched as he leaned back against the reflective walls closing his eyes as the elevator crawled its way down when it stopped at a different level. You heart pricked as he sighed heavily, opening one eye stepped forward and then pulled you behind him, as a mass of people filtered into the elevator. As the once empty elevator suddenly became packed, your heart melted as Victor’s protective actions, no-one would dare to push the CEO to create space in the elevator so by placing you behind him it prevented from being jostled in the crowd. Knowing you couldn’t display your thanks for him in public, you simply rested your forehead lightly on his back smiling at the floor to hide your beaming heart.
Reaching the ground floor, each employee politely bid farewell to their CEO, and after everyone had filtered out, you peeped your head around checking if the coast was clear and at Victor’s helpless expression you beamed up at him as he shook his head, leading you towards the garage where he had parked his car. The whole ride back to your place, you periodically checked on Victor’s expression, choosing to reduce your conversation and instead settling into a comfortable silence, only broken by the sounds of passing cars. Unbeknownst to you Victor was also checking up on you regularly, smiling wryly at your worried expression.
‘How far have I fallen, that I made a Dummy like her worry for me?’ he thought.
Holding the door open for you, Victor stood gallantly allowing you to walk past him with his head tilted down. Smiling mischievously, you paused just before you passed him, and stepping up lightly closer towards him, you pressed a light kiss to the underside of his jaw, smiling as you pulled away.
“Alright you sit down and I’ll get started.” You told Victor pushing him towards his couch, then turning and bringing up your hair to tie it up and out of your face.
“Fine, fine.” Victor’s deep laugh as he followed your instructions made your heart rattled loudly in your chest.
You then proceeded to the kitchen, pulling the apron that Victor “just happened to have bought by accident and never gotten rid of it” from a hook, and deftly secured it over your neck and around your waist. Exhaling, you searched through the fridge and pantry pulling out the best ingredients to help make Victor feel better. Determined to make your CEO boyfriend a meal to battle fatigue and give him the same rise of emotion his cooking instills in you, you set to work.
As Victor tapped away on his tablet answering emails, his tie hanging loosely around his neck, he couldn’t help but continue to glance a tad nervously in the direction of his kitchen. It wasn’t that he didn’t believe in you, it just… he didn’t believe in your cooking ability. To Victor, cooking is not much different from being a CEO as it requires a large amount of precision, dedication, and a high attention to detail. Victor had seen you hit your head on various objects, one time you walked into an office plant that “came out of nowhere”, consistently forgot your deadlines and often sent reports riddled with spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. It wasn’t hard for Victor to feel a little uneasy, and finally he felt he could stand it no longer and he carefully padded his way to the kitchen, taking care to muffle his steps to not alert you.
However, what he saw was beyond his imaginations, but caused a smile to tug at his lips, you were dancing around the kitchen, swaying your hips to the song you were singing lightly, a mix between hums and half-finished lyrics. The myriad of smells wafted around him and he breathed in letting them wash over him, before advancing towards you, reaching out to you as you stood before the stove.
“Victor!” you laughed as you felt his arms wrap around your waist, pulling you backwards so your back fit snugly against the hard planes of his chest, lifting a spoon to his lips so he could taste.
Victor’s deep hum reverberated in your ears, causing a shiver to run down your back, much to Victor’s amusement, “I didn’t know you could cook...”
Your swallowed, eyes becoming misty, and cleared your throat before beginning, “Well, as you know it was just me and my Dad...”
“Love, you don’t have to...” Victor’s pet name for you slipped out and he pressed a kiss to your neck in support.
You patted his arms to show him you were okay before continuing, “I’m okay Victor, but my Dad was always travelling and whenever he came back we would try different recipes of food he ate whilst travelling, to varying degrees of success.” you began to laugh remembering the times your Dad and you would laugh as you burnt food, and whenever he cooked it always had a tad too much salt, but you treasured each meal and memory you had.
Victor reached out and turned off the stove before carefully turning you around, where you reached out and wrapped your arms around his neck pressing your face into his neck as your emotions choked you. Victor knowing you weren’t crying due to sadness but more happiness from the memories between you and your father, whispered words of comfort into your ear and promised to cook with you more often in future, as it was something you found synonymous with familial love, and he would do anything to make sure you always remember you will always have a family with him.

It was another day on the job. It was her dream job, but recently it hasn’t been feeling that way.
Y/N had persevered through years of medical school and practice to get her to become one of the doctors of the Avengers. Though granted, she hasn't really been able to treat someone or something along those lines, but she was still looking forward to doing so.
“Hey Y/N, can you get these files sorted out for me?” Richard placed a stack of folders on her desk, effectively disrupting her from her daydream about getting to save or cure someone. Shifting her eyes from the stack in front of her to the piercing green eyes, she could only bring herself to meekly nod, “I’ll get right to it.”
Standing up from her seat, she grabbed all the files and began to walk away to stack up all the files before casting one glance to him when she noticed Richard — along with the other male doctors — were walking away for their lunch break. “Thanks for the invite,” She sarcastically waved to herself as she began to get to work. Her CV had been so impressive that she was recruited to work for/with the Avengers. What she didn’t expect was that misogyny was still rampant since she was the only female doctor there and yet she hadn't been given the opportunity to practice what she studied for.
Tony had been chewing off Thor’s ears for about a few months now because the demigod constantly forgot about having to head down to the medical wing in order to have his profile filled out with his medical records taken. And with having downtime since he just came back from a mission, the God of Thunder was now on his way to do so.
Upon entering one of the offices, Thor looked around when he noticed the lack of staff in there. “Hello? Is there anyone here?” He inquired and heard a noise coming from his left and smiled upon seeing a beautiful lady. “Hi Mr. Thor, how can I help you?” Y/N brushed off the imaginary dust on her as she felt nervous being around a hero for the first time.
“Just Thor is fine,” He reassured her, “I’m here to have my profile completed; Stark mentioned something about having to need some health information to be taken down?” Knowing what he meant, Y/N nodded, “Oh yeah, I know that. But the other doctors are out for lunch so.”
As she trailed off, Thor pointed to the white lab coat she was wearing, “You’re a doctor, are you not?” Looking down as well, she nodded once again as she felt excited in being able to do what she trained for. “Well we’ll do those tests here,” She led him to the examination room and he followed quietly; as if he was trying to understand why she had hints of nervousness earlier but seemed giddy.
“Please remove your shoes and other objects that may affect your weight,” She requested gently before opening up the hero’s uncompleted profile on the tablet. Once he did so she pointed to the weighing scale and asked for him to stand there. As she looked at what his weight was, she wrote it down. “Okay now your height; please stand next to that portion of the wall,” She pointed to where there was an electronic measurement. Nodding, Thor tried to make conversation, “I don’t think I have seen you here before, Lady?”
“Y/N,” She offered her name as she waited for the tool to finalize the god’s height, “That’s because I’m new here. However, despite being a registered and certified doctor, I’m more of a filing person for them.” She ranted out to which she frowned and apologized, “I’m sorry; I shouldn’t have ranted out my frustrations to you.”
When she told him he could step away from the machine he assured her, “You don’t have to apologize for anything; But I am curious, why are you not practicing what you have studied for?” Y/N was hesitant to recount the horrid experiences she’s had so far. As she ushered him to take a seat to check his reflexes and blood pressure, Thor further coaxed her, “There’s nothing to be afraid of, Lady Y/N. I am merely just interested about your well-being in your workplace.”
As she was wrapping the sleeve of the blood pressure machine on his muscular arm, she didn’t meet his worried eyes as she turned on the machine, “It’s just, I’m the only girl in here. And they all seem to pick on me for it. They don’t allow me to treat agents or heroes; just make me do filing work. Taking your medical profile is probably the closest to medical field work I’ll ever be.”
After taking note of his blood pressure, Thor grabbed her hand and had a gentle look graced his features, “I apologize in behalf of those feeble-minded imbeciles,” Y/N had to hold back a laugh with how her colleagues was referred to, “I can bring this incident to Stark and have informed about the discriminations you have underwent.”
Rapidly shaking her head, she voiced out his objection to his idea, “No please, don’t tell anyone. That’s something I don’t need — drama, or them thinking that I had to go on about and complain to someone about what’s happening. I’m fine, really.” She sighed and though the demigod wasn’t fully convinced he let her explain further, “I’ll get by just fine. I’ll rise through the ranks and I’ll do so without making a big fuss over everything.”
The smile she offered him was full of determination and he could not prevent himself from returning the same. Lifting up the hand that he held up to his lips, he placed a gentle kiss on it, and detaching his lips he muttered, “I am in awe of your steadfastness.”
Hearing a compliment that didn’t highlight her physical appearance made her heart beat fast in appreciation, “That’s flattering coming from you, Thor.” From there the two talked more as they went about filling in the Avenger’s profile.
Tumblr media
The mission went well, most of the agents and Avengers who went on it left with a few scrapes and scratches. As they were heading to the medical bay, Thor entered and searched for the pair of eyes he frequently looked into since he spent more time with the female doctor. “Thor! You’re back!” She beamed at him happily. “I am; Though I have a bit of bruises I need to be tended to, I was hoping you can look after them.”
Her eyes widened at his request but she found herself nodding and guiding him to one of the medical chairs they have. Richard however wasn’t pleased upon overhearing their conversation, “I’m sorry but Y/N still have some files to look over.”
Thor was clearly displeased with this, straightened up his posture and towered over him, “I know things that are different on this realm and on mine, but I do know that no woman should be treated as badly as you all have treated Y/N. She studied and worked hard; she more than deserves to be where she is right now.”
Richard gulped down nervously as all that he could do was nod and turn around to attend to one of the agent’s injuries. Y/N pulled on Thor’s arm, dragging him to where he should sit down so she can treat his bruises. As she was pouring on some ointment on his burns, she thanked him, “Thank you for standing up for me, Thor.”
“It was nothing, Y/N, I just couldn’t stand someone talking down on a fine lady like yourself,” Shrugging her shoulders the female doctor was quick to counter, “I don’t think I’m as fine as you think.”
After cleaning him up, Thor held her back and tried charming her, “Well there’s only one way for me to find that out don’t you think?” Y/N tilted her head in confusion with what he meant and the demigod found it adorable and chuckled as he clarified, “Why don’t we go spend some time together? The one you Midgardians call a date?”
Eyes widening at his proposal Y/N froze up a bit before replying, “I would love to, Thor.” Pecking his cheek before returning back the medical supplies she used, “Pick me up at 8pm tomorrow?”

A Bit Stir Crazy: Pt 1
Tumblr media
Summary: You’re bit of a hot head, so is Bakugou. So what happens when the two of you have to quarantine together for 30 days?
Warnings: cursing, mentions of sex, sexual tension, inevitable smut, slow burn.
Pairing: Katsuki Bakugou x fem!Reader
Spring finally makes it way to the city of Musutafu, which also means spring break is about to commence. There was only two days left of school before the students endure a week break of relaxation and the possibility of illegal drinking. However, the sudden outbreak of a deadly virus isolates you and your best friend of five years , Katsuki Bakugou, to quarantine together. Tensions are high, and so are both of your sex drive.
<<<
It was your second semester here at Hero University, and so far everything was smooth sailing. You’ve been on top of each of your classes, and most of your classmates are pretty much family by now. Of course, no one can replace Kirishima and Katsuki. Those two have been in your life since the second you stepped into Aziwa’s classroom. 5 years of friendship gave them the role of being your protective brothers. Every guy you’ve dated over the past 3 years had to face the wrath of both Kirishima and Katsuki. In most cases, some would find this possessiveness tedious, but you found it quite comforting knowing they are looking out for you. They were also hard on you and your studies, but only because they care for you. Both of them know about your dream of being a combat medic for pro-heroes, considering your energy restoration quirk, so they were extra tough on you.
However, everything came to a halt the day before spring break. You were currently in Advanced Hero History class when the announcement happened. The teacher, mid lecture, put her textbook down and glanced at the speaker above the door.
“Testing...1 2 3... this thing is working right? AHEM, attention students of Hero University, we’ve been told there’s recently been a sudden outbreak of a virus that’s described as deadly as the plaque!” The speakers voice reverberated across the whole academy. He continued,” We want to make sure that everyone is safe and sound and takes precaution of this virus. The board of admissions at HU have decided to cancel classes and all events at the university tomorrow-”
You didn’t get to hear the rest of the announcement. Everyone in the classroom was busy celebrating and screaming at the top of their lungs. Seems like the issue with the deadly virus evaporated immediately. The thought of getting out early for spring break was more important apparently.
Ms.Leech informed the class to still read the assigned chapters and be ready for a test the first day after break.
You quickly shoved everything your messenger bag and made a beeline to the door. The hallways were far from deserted. Usually classes don’t get out at the same time, but today every student occupied the cramped halls in the building.
“Y/N!” Someone yelled amidst the crowd of loud students. You overtly looked around and spotted the all too familiar spiky red hair and angry looking blonde by the exit. You giggled and maneuvered your way over to them.
“Did you hear the announcement! We get an early spring break!” Kirishima giddily said as you guys all walked side by side on the strip to the apartment complex.
“No shit Sherlock, the announcement was broadcasted across the whole school.” Bakugou responded while rolling his eyes.
“I’m so excited though! That means I have more time to study for my exams!” You jumped with excitement.
“Exams? That’s not for awhile you fucking nerd-” Bakugou was cut off when you grabbed a handful of his hair and aggressively pulled it. “YOU SHITTY WOMAN DON’T TOUCH MY HAIR!”
-
Spring break flashed by quickly, leaving only a day left before classes begin again. Thankfully, you seem to have checked everything off your list of things  needed to be accomplished during break. The only thing you had left to do was finish your reading for adv.hero history.
After an endless hour of reading, you decided to make a hot pot of coffee. When you walked into the kitchen of your shared apartment with Kirishima and Katsuki, you noticed a sticky note hanging from the fridge.
It read,
Went to go pick up Kirishima from the airport. Get take out plz. The usual
-B.
You smiled and immediately dialed the noodle shop to go. Kirishima used his spring break wisely and went to visit an exotic island with his family. He would FaceTime you and Bakugo occasionally telling funny stories about his time on the island. Although the thought never occurred at the time, you now felt like you wasted your spring break doing boring mundane things. Yes you had Katsuki to accompany you, but he was gone most of the time hanging out with his other friends. Which hurt, granted, but you understand that he has other friends besides you. Needless to say, you didn’t do that much “relaxation” during spring break.
Suddenly, your phone started going off on the countertop. Katsuki’s name flashing on the screen. Confused, you answered his call anyway, not thinking much of it.
“Y/N turn on the news now,” His said with urgency.
You didn’t argue back, knowing something is off, and raced to the living room. The tv was already on, so you just changed the channels till it reached the local news station. With the volume at its maximum, you sat still and listened to the news anchor.
“This just in, Japan has issued a nationwide lockdown due to the spread of the deadly virus. We’ve been told to report for all citizens to please stay in your homes till further notice. And as for anyone who has left the country, you’ll be permitted to stay within the country you’ve flown to and wait till further instructions...”
Oh shit
-
“Hey hey guys don’t worry I’ll be fine. I mean, isn’t this great news! We don’t have to go to our scheduled classes till further notice! Plus, I think I can score my shot with the maid here at my hotel for the time being,” Kirishima gloated with pure positivity.
“Baka. You do realize there’s a fucking virus going around right? Not to mention there’s a possibility you could die from it.” Bakugou said, trying to throw some common sense at Kiri.
“Right right right. Yes I do know...but that’s not going to stop me from getting laid bro.”
That was one of the few FaceTime calls you got from Kiri. After the third, he stopped calling all together. You grew worrisome for your best friend. Even though he doesn’t show it, Bakugou was worried sick not hearing from Kiri either.
It’s been 5 days since the initial lockdown. So far, you and Bakugou have been doing each of your usual routines at home. First thing in the morning you always prepared breakfast and read a few chapters from your current book. Bakugo did laundry duty and did the dishes after breakfast. Afternoon was just recreational duties. Both you and Bakugou would reside in your rooms doing whatever to ease off the bordem. Evenings were mainly for eating dinner and watching movies.
However, after 10 days, you couldn’t keep up with the routine anymore. You skipped breakfast and didn’t dare to open up another book. Your bedroom became a reminder on how much you’ve spent cooped up in there. Not to mention how easily angered you’ve become.
One day you got angry at how Bakugou was chewing his food. Usually it never irritated you, but now the sight just made your blood boil.
“Who the fuck taught you how to eat?” You spat abruptly.
“Says the person who forgets to clean the tub after they shave their whole entire jungle of a body,” he retored back.
A faint gasp left your mouth, uaware that you completely forgot to clean the tub last night after your feminine duties.
“Don’t know who you’re trying to look presentable for. It’s not like you got a boyfriend, not with all that hair, tch.” he hit you with one last punch to the gut.
You got up from where you were sitting at and begrudgingly walked to your bedroom, locking it in the process. Not daring to leave your room, you open your laptop and started a movie without Bakugou.
-
Out of all days, day 15 by far was the worst. The air conditioner unit stopped working, causing y’all to wake up with drenched bodies. Your room especially was humid, since you had no access to a window. The colored coordinated folders from your book bag had to suffice, using them as makeshift fans. Eventually your arms grew tired of constantly doing the same motion repeatedly, so you finally left your room in hopes for the living room to be much cooler.
You stopped immediately when you caught a glimpse of Bakugou slumped on the L-shaped couch. Not to mention, he was shirtless as well. Heat flushed to your cheeks, making you glow a crimson red. You couldn’t stop staring at the view in front of you. Yes you’ve seen Bakugou shirtless before. Countless of times in fact. The boys would practically walk naked around the apartment, not caring about how you’d react. You were deemed as one of the guys.
But this time it triggered something within you. Something you haven’t quite felt in a long time. Maybe it was the quarantine getting to your head, but you couldn’t help but to wonder how it would feel to be flushed against his naked chest right now. Or if he was the type to snake his hands around your waist and pull you even closer. The thought excited you for a second, but quickly realized this was Katsuki you were thinking about.
Katsuki shifted uncomfortably in his spot, eliciting a whimper during the process. The noise alone made your lower stomach tense with a warm sensation. This was creepy. Watching Bakugou shirtless while sleeping would surly make him go ballistic, but the sight of sweat glistening on his abdomen made his abs more prominent. An image of you being underneath him kept flashing in your head like picture show. A crude and undeniably satisfying picture show. More explicit thoughts kept trying to barge into your brain. So, you ran back into your room and planted yourself headfirst on the floor. Hopefully these thoughts will go away by tomorrow
The thoughts never went away. In fact, they were the reason you didn’t get any sleep last night. A half naked Bakugou Katsuki kept interrupting your innocent dreams, filling them in with dirty scenarios involving the both of you. You knew you were fucked once you heard the faint sound of Katsukis footsteps in the kitchen. You’ve been up all night, with no pure dream in mind. There’s no saving your sleep schedule now. Maybe if you apologize to Katsuki for acting irrational the other day, the thoughts would go away.
Defeated, you got up from your comfortable bed and treaded into unsafe territory. There sat Bakugo, criss cross on the kitchen island eating cereal. It wasn’t an unusual sight, he was the embodiment of a fucking cat.
“Morning shit head,” you playfully teased.
Bakugou raised his head and looked expectingly at you.
Even just looking him dead in the eye raised the temperature throughout your body. This is going to be a nightmare.
“You alright Y/N? Your whole face is flushed...” He paused, eyeing you suspiciously. “You’re not sick are you? If so, I’m kicking you out. I don’t wanna fucking die because of you”.
How charming.
You scratched the back of your neck. “Uh no Katsuki, I just wanted to apologize for the other day. My behavior towards you was unacceptable. This whole quarantine thing has really made me-”
“Shut up. No need to apologize for some stupid quarrel we got into. Besides, we’ve gotten into worse arguments right?”
You nodded your head, agreeing to how truthful his statement was. It was true. 5 years of friendship and not one time have you guys stopped being friends because of a heated argument.
“Exactly, don’t sweat about it. I’m just glad you finally came out of your hole. I missed my movie buddy.” He gave you a lopsided grin, to which on cue, your stomach tied itself into a knot.
“Great, because I found a movie last night on my queue that I think you’d like” You beamed as you started making yourself a bowl cereal. Katsuki grunted as a response and leaped off from the island.
You were too busy focusing on making the cereal that you didn’t hear the faint thump of footsteps behind you. Then, almost as some sort of harsh punishment, Katsuki rested his head between your right shoulder blade. He hummed once he felt your body tense up. His lips were merely inches away from your outer ear. Any other movement from him and you wouldn’t hesitate to throw the gallon of milk at his head. But what he said next caused your whole face to turn pallid.
“Also, its kind of rude to watch someone sleeping don't cha think?” he whispered before throwing his bowl into the sink beside you.
At that moment you knew, you were completely fucked.
