I’m something of a rebel myself
Came this close to just entering a feral rage and blocking you just from seeing your url in my notifications. But I chose the way of Jesus today
😔 forgive me I haven’t changed my url since 2015 when I thought alliteration was the pinnacle of language arts. You can kill me if you want?

My dream for the election is that it’s definitive. I want a 2012-style Election Day where everyone built it up beforehand to possibly be close but then the results start rolling in and it was like “Oh, nevermind. It’s obviously Obama. Everyone go to bed.”
I just want voters to put a stake right through the heart of Trumpism so that it crumbles to ash before our eyes. That’s the dream.

Friendly reminder that almost half of the states in the U.S. have same day registration! This means you can go to the polling center for your location, register there, and cast your vote same day. So if you are over 18, are a U.S. citizen, and live in one of the states listed below, it is not too late to register and vote! I’m going to put notes for some of the states where voting is extra important due to the political climate of the state.
California
Colorado
Connecticut
D.C.
Hawaii
Idaho
Illinois
Iowa - recent polls indicate state could flip from red to blue
Maine
Maryland
Michigan
Minnesota
Montana
Nevada
New Hampshire
New Mexico
New York
North Carolina - swing state! Could go red or blue
North Dakota - voter registration not required
Utah
Vermont
Virginia
Washington
Wisconsin - swing state! Could go red or blue
Wyoming
You can go here for more info on voter registration
I also have a huge list of voting resources here

Okay, I have caught up on my notifications (except my inbox), and I'm relieved to find I haven't been gone as long as I thought. It's been a crazy month, and I didn't mean to be AWOL so close to the election. I wish I could have been a better political advocate this past month, but I have been keeping up with the election via some trusted sources, including a friend working in politics up in D.C.
In case you haven't had the will to turn your eyes to the news in recent days, I want to impress upon you how hopeful things look for the Harris campaign so long as we don't get complacent. Here's a few highlights:
Young Democrats are breaking records for their age group in early vote returns, including in swing states.
Trump had a comedian at his rally in Madison Square garden who made a joke about Puerto Rico being the island of garbage in the ocean, and it has mobilized the Puetro Rican community (which makes up a significant portion of the Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Arizona voter populations - all swing states), against him with fury.
Four of the swing states are still open for same-day voter registration - Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, and North Carolina. That means you can register and vote in person in the same day. In Michigan, you must do this at your local clerk's office. In Wisconsin, Nevada, and North Carolina, you can do it at your polling place. North Carolina's same-day registration option closes November 2nd. The other three will allow same-day registration through Election Day. See my most recent previous post for a cool graphic on this.
The left-learning folk, especially the youth, are putting the work in, and if we can all pitch in and join them, we WILL win this.
If you've been too depressed to watch the news or register to vote, check the chart below, and if your state is anything but white, there's still time to act:
If you don't know how you're getting to the polls, start asking friends, neighbors, or coworkers if they can give you a ride (if that feels awkward, I get it, but this is important, and it's just one time in four years).
Don't know where your polling place is? Do a quick Google search for "Where is my polling place in [U.S. state]," type in your address, and find out - mine is literally in walking distance of my home!
Going to register same-day? Google "same day registration [U.S. state]" and make sure you have the right documents (spoiler, it's stuff like driver's licenses, paychecks, utility bills - mostly proof of residence documents).
If you're a young person, let's make this the year you get to see young people wield power as a voting block. If you haven't yet, show up and show out at the polling places - build on the work of your early-voting young peers.
The race is close, but there is hope and possibility, and it's in our hands!!! All the campaign ads are full of urgency and fear, and I want you to hear at least one positive voice about the election before November 5th. We. Can. Do. This.

when was strangers last updated ? is it continuing ? i just caught up 0-0 but i’m so sad i need more
it's been a couple of years, anonie :( I've been meaning to update it when i have time bc i really like the ending and i WANT YALL TO READ THE ENDING and i just... haven't had time. inspiration? idk. I miss writing fic. but I promise that when I get back to it, strangers will get the ending it deserves!
On the bright side, I'm grateful for the experience I've had writing fic – I submitted my creative writing thesis this spring and won an award for one of my short stories. Maybe I'm a good writer after all, and with all the true crime I've been listening to.... halloween horror fic?

Things cats were right about all along:
Fuck staying hydrated by drinking enough water - eat! more! wet! food! (watermelon, cucumbers, SOUP!)
Feels great to be really high up in your house where you can see the whole place (loft bed loft bed loft bed loft bed!)
Express yourself as clearly as possible when people are touching you and you don't want them to.
Optional, but you can also express yourself clearly when your people are not touching you and you want them to.
Sometimes it's important to just go "hmm. actually, I don't care" and wander off.
You don't have to be the strongest or toughest to defend yourself, it's enough to just be difficult enough to not be worth the trouble.
Ghosts will eventually leave if you stare at them for long enough.
