Cuphead fell to his knees feeling his blood soaking into his clothes as the devil laughed.

“Did you really think you’d win?” The demon king asked his smile unnaturally wide.

No. No no- NonononononoNO!

This wasn’t supposed to happen! They were ready! They had the advantage! They were supposed to win!

“Mugman I don’t know what to do-” he cut off his sentence as he looked to the side to locate his brother but the sight made him freeze.

His brother His baby brother The only thing that made him have hope Laid on the ground. Dead.

Mug’s eyes were glazed over and the only thing he could hear was devil’s laughter.

“This was all your fault!”

“No!” Cuphead sat up from his bed, eyes filled with tears. He breathed deeply into his hand before running it through his hair, “again?” He asked no one as he was alone in his room. In his house.

This was getting ridiculous! Ever since he accepted that invitation from those angels he’d be getting these stupid nightmares again. It’d been three years since they won against the devil to get their souls back, and at first, these types of nightmares were to be expected. He understands that it’s normal to get nightmares even now, but for some reason, they are now constant.

Guilty conscious? No that wasn’t it- it couldn’t be. Those demons don’t deserve his guilt. They aren’t innocent. They were all debtors. They deserved this punishment. And he deserved to do this.

Mugman wouldn’t agree, his brother was more than happy to leave all the violence and bloodshed behind. He didn’t understand how much Cup needed this, he didn’t understand just how much it all broke him.

He’s not the same little kid that would cry if elder kettle killed a bug instead of throwing it outside. He wasn’t the same little kid that he played baseball with and laughed with no problems or worries. He’s just not the same person he was. But Mugman didn’t seem to understand that.

He finally got out of bed, rubbing his eyes as he walked to the bathroom. He washed his face ignoring his reflection as much as he could, “this is so stupid” he muttered walking to the kitchen.

The house he bought was pretty big with a large backyard. Both he and Mugman saved a lot of money from their previous job as ‘devil’s dogs’ which Cup actually had to force Mugs to keep it.

Mugman decided to travel a bit, see the sights, eat the delicious food and just enjoy himself. All the things he’d wish he could do instead of hunting down whoever devil told them to.

Cuphead on the other hand? He couldn’t leave his old life behind.

He was still an assassin. But he was much more expensive to people, not that surprising. After all, he was the one who managed to not only survive but escape devil’s claws.

That’s why he has this big house.

That’s why he has enough money for that event.

Sure he’ll have to get the leftovers, but as long as he gets something, He’ll be satisfied.

His toast popped just as he got back from taking out the garbage, ha made quick work of washing his hands and getting the jam before sitting down to eat.

In three days he’ll attend the ‘black velvet event’. And get a demon to own like he was owned for so many years.

He’ll need a new suit for it.

“Cuphead! You home!?” Mugman’s voice called out, “I’m in the dining room!” Cup yelled after swallowing. Shortly after his brother came into view.

“How’d it go?” Cup asked smiling softly as his brother grinned wildly “ Everything is done! We just have to brainstorm what pictures we want to put on the walls and that’ll be it!” Mugman excitedly talked vibrating in place. “you really liked the house huh?” Cup couldn’t help but smirk , his brother was very excited when a house near him got out on sale. He was also excited for his brother to live near him and his fiancée of course, Cala was a sweetheart who loved him and he loved his future sister-in-law.

He was a little worried about his future ‘roommate’ would make her feel, lucky she witnessed and done a lot of shady stuff so she’ll probably be a little annoyed but leave it alone quickly.

His brother was the real problem. Ironically.

They talked a bit more as Cuphead had breakfast. He wondered just how much he’d be angry with him when he found out about what he was going to do.

He waved his brother goodbye, wishing him and Cala luck with the new house.

Oh well, he can’t stop. Not now.

Oh look, it seems like there's a Republican-led movement to purge voter rolls in the lead-up to the election! It's almost as if your vote matters and they don't want you to vote! Anyway, I whipped up a quick map (based on this) that shows when the voter registration deadline is in each state. There are a few deadlines coming up in the next week or so.

If you live in a state that regularly purges voter rolls for infrequent voters (the orange ones in the first map), or if you moved recently, it's good to check if you're still registered to vote.

Vote.org makes it super easy to check your registration: https://www.vote.org/am-i-registered-to-vote/

Just put in your address and DOB and they'll tell you whether you're registered. (And they give you a quick link to register online if it turns out that you're not! Only the 9 states in white on my map don't have online registration, and for those they provide instructions on how to do it via mail or in person.) If you want an extra verification, find your state's election website and double-check there.

So yeah, give yourself peace of mind -- do a quick check. :)
