fun fact I’m pretty sure all my ocs designs and art are like
meaningless
Like I feel like there should probably have been some meaning to them and the way I make them and their art but I just
dont
have any
I’m super jealous of people who can make their art just have meaning because my art is like me and just
meaningless
I should work on that

Tsukishima Kei
If Tsukishima knew one thing, it was that he was a lucky boy. Somehow he had managed to make a girl who was probably made of sunshine and rainbows, like him back and somehow figured out how to keep you around.
Although he always had an annoyed look on his face when they did, anytime the team asked about you or mentioned you to him, he was always happy to subtly brag about you.
“Our little Tsukishima has grown up hasn’t he?” Sugawara laughed, slapping pats to the back of the tall first year. “You’re not blackmailing her are you?” Tsukishima just rolled his eyes in response.
“It must be nice to have such a pretty girl around!” Noya whined loudly, punching the wall angrily.
“It is,” Tsukishima smirked, enjoying the immediate anger that Noya tried to turn on him. Daichi held the wild libero back with an exasperated smiled, shaking his head.
“She’s really smart too isn’t she?” Hinata gaped, having only really heard of this girl that Tsukishima was dating but Yamaguchi said it was a girl in their class so she had to be smart.
“Anyone’s smart compared to you,” Tsukishima scoffed but shrugged. “She’s the top of our class.”
Everyone made sounds of excitement and surprise, the upperclassmen nodding in approval, “Who knew this salty bean pole could find someone smart and pretty to like him back?” Tanaka snickered and Tsukishima just rolled his eyes.
You hadn’t meant to overhear the conversations happening in the club room but you were just waiting for your boyfriend against the railing. To say you were a bit embarrassed was an understatement. And that embarrassment was probably written all over your face because when Tsukishima finally came out, his cheeks turned pink seeing your expression.
“What?” He asked after a beat, avoiding your eyes as he started to walk towards the stairs.
“You know you don’t have to lie to your teammates right?” You asked him eventually, giving him a small smile. “I’m sure they know you’re just being nice.”
For once, you had actually surprised Tsukishima. Normally he could tell exactly what you were thinking but this time, he actually stopped in his steps and looked at you like you had grown a second head in the last few moments.
“Lie?” He asked, tilting his head up in thought before scoffing a bit, “What part of what I said was a lie? For that matter, how much of that nonsense did you hear?”
The word nonsense rang in your ear repeatedly, echoing all your insecurities further into your subconscious, “I dunno, how much were you saying?” You retorted, glancing at him with a shrug. “Come on, I wanna get home before it gets too dark,” you decided when he didn’t answer right away. The two of you started walking, Tsukishima clearly deep in thought because for once on your way home, he wasn’t complaining about the boys or listening to music. He was just… walking.
“When did I lie?” He finally asked at your doorstep, as if realizing if he didn’t ask now, he never would. He grabbed your wrist before you could turn away and leave without answering him, tugging you closer so he could look right into your eyes (he could always tell when you were lying to him).
“What?” You squirmed a bit. You knew exactly what he was asking but did you really want to admit it?
“You said I lied to my teammates. What did I lie about?” His frown was tight, eyes as serious as ever. “I’ve been thinking about everything I said to them and I can’t think of a lie that I told. Was it about everyone being smarter than Hinata? Because I really was telling the truth.” The little smirk at the end made you feel like he was trying to keep this lighthearted. But the topic weighed so heavily on both your shoulders.
You could feel Tsukishima keeping your gaze right on him, and knew if you looked away, he might just get more upset. So you were forced to just look at him awkwardly, as if he was looking through your very thoughts.
“I asked you out didn’t I?” He continued when you didn’t respond right away. “Doesn’t that make you my girlfriend?”
You let out a little laugh, surprised that that’s what he had come up with after that very silent walk home. “Yeah, I suppose so,” you smiled, finally pulling your eyes away from him and staring at your hands as you fiddled with your fingers.
“So what-”
“They’re just being nice,” you tried to tell him awkwardly, cutting him off from asking one more time. “I’m not… I’m not everything they’re pretending I am. And you don’t have to keep up the charade with them.”
Tsukishima’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion, what charade could you possibly be talking about.
“I know I’m not as pretty as your managers,” you explained quietly. “And I’m sure being surrounded by them all the time has got you having some high expectations and standards for girls. That’s why I was surprised when you asked me out… but I know it’s probably just cause we’re always together and we study together. I know I’m pretty helpful when it comes to schoolwork so-”
Tsukishima started laughing. Like genuinely, throwing his head back, from the bottom of his belly kind of laugh. Your eyes widened as you watched this normally cool and collected idiot snicker himself practically to death.
“T-Tsukishima?” You blinked, poking him a little to make sure he wasn’t just having some sort of weird seizure.
He finally ran out of breath, standing back up straighter than ever and hitting the top of your head (not as gently as he should’ve, how rude), “Listen here, shortie,” he huffed, leaning down slightly so you were forced to look at him. “I have high standards for anyone I even keep around me. The only one who’s exceeded my standards for dating though, is you.”
You watched him, blinking nervously as if he was going to laugh in your face again and tell you it was a joke.
“I didn’t lie to them, idiot,” he shook his head, flicking your forehead. “You’re way too pretty to be as self-conscious as you are.”
Words would never solve your self-consciousness, you knew this. But if there was ever a moment that would ever come close - it would be this one.
“Go inside alright,” he grinned at you, pressing a quick kiss to your forehead and shoving you closer to your door. “And the next time I compliment you, you better accept it.”
You couldn’t even retort anything back before he ushered you inside, gave you a cheeky wink, and started to head home.
You were still very bad at accepting Tsukishima’s compliments and almost felt tortured with how much he could try to get you to understand how much he loved you. So naturally, Tsukishima just did it more and more.
Everything you did became a compliment, just to make you all hot headed and make him chuckle. He would praise you for being one of the smartest people he knew after a test or assignment, he’d say you were the cutest person up on the stands after his volleyball games, would just shower you in aggressive amounts of affection (well aggressive for him).
And then one day…
One day you day you didn’t fight back as much. And Tsukishima just smiled because he would never say anything to you he didn’t mean.
Tumblr media
Akaashi Keiji
Akaashi was literally an embodiment of everything that someone could want. He was calm and wonderfully humble, his voice was like a mellow song that you could fall asleep to and he had the most amazing biceps that just made your heart flutter every time you saw them.
He was everything you could ever dream of which was both incredible… and not at the same time. It almost hurt to know that he was this unobtainable boy standing near you. Sure, you were dating - but how long until he realized you were beneath him? How much longer would it take him to realize that there was better.
You couldn’t hide these thoughts from Akaashi and more often than not, he’d give you a look like I know what you’re thinking, stop that, and then tell you he loves you before you just nod and smile and try to focus on something else. He’d let it go there, but he’d probably spend the rest of the day with you trying to convince you he really meant it.
But today he wasn’t next to you to read your face. Today, he was going to be down on that court, showing off his incredible reflexes and sports ability, and you would be up here. Blending in with the crowd. You were a filler character - something to fill the stands with and not be noticed. Unoriginal. Boring.
“Y/N!” Bokuto ran to you, grinning as wide as ever. “Look what I brought you!” He held up Akaashi’s jacket happily, waving it over his head as he jumped up and down in front of you.
You tried to put on a smile, as if you hadn’t just been spinning in your insecurities a few seconds ago. Your eyes focused on the jacket that Bokuto was trying to put on you, blinking as you came to the realization that he had 100% stolen this from your boyfriend without his knowledge, “Bokuto, won’t he need this?” You offered with a small laugh.
He shook his head with a grin, “He practically discarded it somewhere. I thought I’d come bring it to you! It would probably make him super happy to see you in his jacket! And you look so cute in our colours!” Bokuto declared, patting your head. You tried to start telling him that he should bring it back and that you weren’t really sure Akaashi would want you wearing it, but suddenly you could hear his coach on the court screaming from him to get his ass back down there. “Whoops! Gotta run! Cheer hard for us!” Bokuto gave you a thumbs up before running down.
You stood there for a moment, face feeling hot as you start to smell Akaashi’s scent on the jacket. How did he manage to smell this good all the time?
You could hear whispers from people in the stands, some people wondering who you were or if you were Bokuto or Akaashi’s girlfriend, since it was Bokuto who gave you the jacket.
All the ruckus from his coach made Akaashi actually look over, smirking a bit while Bokuto was getting scolded. He sheepishly made his way over, trying to seem all innocent to his best friend.
“Where the hell even were you?” Akaashi asked, throwing him a toss as the boys warmed up.
“Oh! Just dropping something off to Y/N for you!” Bokuto grinned, nodding in your direction as he received the ball nice and high.
Akaashi shouldn’t have looked over. But he did. His eyes locked onto you and saw you in his jacket and for a moment, he definitely spaced out. His whole brain was just thinking about you and nothing else and he didn’t knock himself out of it until Bokuto’s pass knocked him right in the head.
“Akaashi! Are you okay?” Bokuto laughed, knowing the pass had been pretty soft. Akaashi’s cheeks turn a bit pink as he shook it off, running after the ball.
You were wearing his jacket. And you looked so good in it.
After a complete win for the game, Akaashi was so hyped up to see you. You had worn his jacket the whole game and he had to avoid looking at you because you were just so distracting.
But now that it was over, he wanted nothing more than to swoop you into a hug and admire you. You gave him a huge grin when you caught up with the team, excitedly cheering them for their win and giving Bokuto high fives.
Akaashi watched you with a small smile on his face. You glanced over at him and gave a nervous sort of smile, noting there was a difference in how he was looking at you. “Oh! Here, you’ll get cold soon when your adrenaline stops pumping,” you said, pulling the jacket off.
“It’s alright,” he insisted, smirking a bit down at you. “You look gorgeous, I don’t want you to take it off,” he admitted with a smile, patting your head adoringly.
Your face gets all hot again, avoiding his eyes quickly, “Alright alright, Mr. High Off Of A Win,” you laughed nervously, poking at his chest gently. He raised an eyebrow at your dismissive behaviour.
“What do you mean?”
“Don’t go spreading stuff that isn’t true,” you shrugged, shoving your hands in the jacket pocket. Sure, you liked the jacket but there was no way you were as pretty as he was making you out to be. Gorgeous? No way.
Akaashi’s eyes darkened slightly hearing this, taking your chin into his fingers and tilting your chin up so you were forced to look at him, “You think I’d lie to you?”
The question made you shrink inside, noting his hardened expression. He didn’t like it when you were hard on yourself, always made you notice all the little great things about you. But this wasn’t a private conversation, and people were starting to stare, which just made your face go even warmer. “N-No,” you mumble out shyly, trying to look away but he kept your gaze.
“Good girl,” he smirked at you, tapping your nose gently, “Now take the compliment. And wear my jacket more often, alright?”
You couldn’t help but nod at that point, Akashi smiling in his satisfaction before dragging you off for the team’s celebratory meal. The pit in your stomach that liked to tell you you were a filler character was slightly less intense now, after talking to your boyfriend. Akaashi had such an effect on you and there was no denying it. How could a guy like that be with a girl like you, you would never understand. But there was such an honesty in his eyes, and he was right after all, he wasn’t the type to lie about these things… so maybe. Just maybe. There was some truth to it.

Kageyama Tobio
Kageyama wasn’t the best at noticing hints and subtle things, and honestly, he’d rather if people were just blunt and to the point with him. But with you, he knew that he would have to learn between the lines. It wasn’t because you weren’t great at communication (and let’s be honest, even if you were bad at it, Kageyama was in NO place to call you out on that), but rather, Kageyama understood that at some point in relationships, it was important to see what the other person wanted.
So when he started really trying to read you, he found himself almost discouraged by a reoccurring instance.
It was real subtle at first, and in that moment, Kageyama probably wouldn’t have noticed. But he probably just smile at you and press a kiss to your forehead, thanking you for always thinking of him.
“You’re always so thoughtful, Y/N. I appreciate what you do for me,” he told you, almost like he was thanking a teacher for their help on homework which just made you laugh.
“Don’t be silly, Kageyama, it’s just a milk box,” you insisted, giving a little wave to his teammates before he left.
But it wasn’t just a milk box and even Kageyama could see that. He had forgotten his lunch today and you had shared yours with him. But he always had a milk with his lunch and you didn’t have one, but he didn’t have the chance to actually buy one before he had to head back to classes. He didn’t think he had mentioned anything about the milk, or even hesitated to eat without it. But you had still gone out of your way to buy one for him and bring it to him after classes.
You had even apologized that it was later than he usually had his milk, as if you should’ve known to get it earlier. Kageyama was amazed that you even went and bought him one. He held the box in his hands for a moment before getting called over to start practice, promising himself to have the drink right after practice.
It wasn’t just that you brushed off his appreciation for what you did for him. Kageyama always felt something was wrong when he complimented you. So much so, he had to awkwardly ask his upperclassmen for help.
“Oh our little Kageyama needs help with his girlfriend hmmm?” Tanaka laughed, hands on his hips like he was some sort of relationship expert.
“I dunno why you’d come to us,” Daichi admitted with a smirk, leaning against a nearby wall as he considered the question. “It’s not like any of us are really all that experienced with girls.”
“But you know how to… communicate,” Kageyama explained, playing with his fingers as he shyly stared at the floor. “I’m just worried I’m… doing that thing that Hinata says I do. Where I think I’m complimenting her but I’m actually hurting her.”
Sugawara chuckled and threw his arm around his first year’s neck, fluffing up his hair playfully, “Aw! Little Tobio is growing up!”
“What kinds of things are you saying to her?” Asahi asked, offering Kageyama a smile as the blueberry boy tried to fix his now messed up hair.
Kageyama thought about it for a moment, not having to think that far back to remember an example. “This morning, she was wearing her hair differently,” Kageyama told them, gesturing towards his hair as if to act out how her hair was. “And I told her she looked very pretty.”
The boys just looked at him, as if expecting for there to be more. “Okay and?” Noya piped up, shrugging.
“That’s it,” Kageyama blinked. “Should I have said something else?”
“Why would you say something else, Kageyama?” Daichi raised an eyebrow, noting the distress in the setter’s eyes.
Kageyama huffed, remembering how you awkwardly turned away, as if he had said something brash, “She just said ‘you don’t have to do that, Kageyama’ and changed the subject. But I don’t know what she meant. Was… Was I not supposed to tell her? She did look very pretty but should I have kept that to myself?”
Sugawara gave him a sympathetic smile, “I think you did fine, Kageyama, don’t worry! Maybe she was just embarrassed.”
The others agreed, Tanaka explaining to him that some people were bashful when it came to their appearances.
“But she’s the most perfect being in the whole country!” Kageyama burst out, his forehead creased with concern. “Why shouldn’t I tell her?”
“Just in the country?” Asahi chuckled and Sugawara smacked his arm.
“Don’t tease him, I don’t think Kageyama has ever left the country!”
“Maybe she’s just not used to you complimenting her. Like how you weren’t too used to holding hands with her at the beginning of your relationship,” Daichi offered, remembering how red the boy’s face was you first took his hand at a tournament. He didn’t even know he had to hold your hand back and just had his hand staying there stiff.
Kageyama nodded slowly - he could understand that. It just took some time and then he was okay with it eventually. Now he would grab your hand out of instinct and it wasn’t something foreign to him.
After talking to his upperclassmen, Kageyama felt a little better. Perhaps it wasn’t his words then, maybe he just had to do it more.
But after a week of trial and error, Kageyama still couldn’t understand why you still seemed so uncomfortable. The day after consulting the second and third years, Kageyama had told you he really liked the way you hummed and that you had a really nice voice (he really did like it, it was his favourite thing to listen to).
But you just flickered your eyes away from him, offering a nervous laugh, “It’s nothing,” you mumbled before quickly asking him about his practice schedule.
So Kageyama thought maybe you just didn’t like talking about your singing. So when the two of you were studying, you noticed his laser focus wasn’t on his work but instead on you. His eyes were so trained on you, it was like how he was on the volleyball court.
“Kageyama?” You blinked in surprise, catching him staring at you. “Are you alright?”
“You’re really smart, Y/N!” He blurted out, a firm nod afterwards like confirming what he was saying. “I appreciate you always coming to help me work!”
But you just squirmed in your seat, turning your eyes back to your work, “I really don’t know all that much.”
It had been a week of this back and forth, Kageyama desperately trying to find what was going on. Was it him? Was he just not using the right words? Could he actually be being really rude and didn’t realize it? Was it his face? Was he supposed to smile more?
Finally, Kageyama felt like he was at the end of his rope. He didn’t know what to do now.
“The sunset is really pretty today!” You beamed as the two of you walked home from his practice. He glanced over and noticed the brilliant colours in the sky. It looked nice sure, but how could you understand that that looked pretty and you didn’t?
“I think you’re prettier.” He stated simply. Kageyama didn’t really know what lines were cheesy and what weren’t. But you did and your face just overheated immediately in response.
“K-Kageyama, don’t say things like that!” You insisted, staring to walk ahead.
“Wait!” Kageyama yelped, grabbing onto your wrist and pulling you back to him. “What am I doing wrong?” he asked you desperately, his eyes wide and searching yours for some sort of answers.
You stared at him for a moment, confused by his words, “Wrong?” You repeated softly, noticing how upset he looked.
“I…” Kageyama’s voice faltered as he watched your eyes. “I keep trying to tell you how amazing you are. You do all these things for me, you help me when I’m upset and you always help me train. You throw balls for me and Hinata, even when you’d rather be at home. You call me during my jogs just to keep me company. You bring me milk when I forget mine. And you always compliment me when I’m feeling like I’m not 100%… so what am I doing wrong? Because everything I say to you… it doesn’t seem to work.”
Something in you clicked. Is this why Kageyama had been acting so weird this week?
“Kageyama… I do all that because I like you and I want you to be your best,” you explained softly. “And I compliment you because I mean it! Not because I’m trying to make you feel better. Or try to boost your self-esteem.”
There was something in your tone that Kageyama couldn’t place. What was that in your voice?
“Why are you sad when I try to tell you things?” Kageyama was practically begging you for an answer. He didn’t understand how to read things from your tone, he wanted to desperately to understand but he just couldn’t grasp it. “Sugawara told me that complimenting people on things makes them feel good… am I doing it wrong? Please just tell me, I’ll be better! I’ll be the best boyfriend!”
Your smile was almost sad and Kageyama’s heart tugged a little in his chest, “I don’t want you to say things because you feel like you have to say them,” you sighed softly, now avoiding his eyes. “I know my hair is a mess most of the time, I know that my singing isn’t some professional level shit, and I know I’m not the model kind of girl or those gorgeous girls who come to your games. I don’t need you to try and convince me otherwise…”
Kageyama’s mind felt like it was blowing up. What were you talking about?
“Don’t be so stupid,” Kageyama whined, huffing at you and poking your forehead, “You think I’m lying about these things? You think I say them because I feel like I have to?” Kageyama shook his head, taking your face into his hands. “I’m not the best with words, I know this. But you are…” Kageyama’s face twisted into a funny expression as he tried to find the words he wanted, “the most perfect thing. You’re like when I make a perfect set and the spike goes right past the blockers!”
You couldn’t help but smile as he went on talking about volleyball. You weren’t surprised - he often related things to volleyball to understand better.
“You… are the perfect jump serve. Seeing you is like I’m winning full sets at Nationals!” He expressed, looking at you with wide eyes in hopes you were understanding. “I’m not trying to make you feel better about yourself, Y/N. You are everything I could possibly want. You make me feel like volleyball isn’t the only thing that matters anymore. I want to hear you sing all the time and I love your hair no matter how you think it looks.”
Your eyes were welling up with tears as he spoke dramatically, looking up at the sky as if that would help him figure out his sentences better. When he finally looked back at you, he jumped back almost immediately in fear.
“N-No! Don’t cry! I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have brought up volleyball again! I-”
You laughed and quickly shook your head, grasping his hands in yours, “Happy tears, Kageyama,” you explained softly, almost immediately burying your face in his chest as you drew him closer for a hug. “Thank you,” you whisper.
Kageyama wasn’t really sure what you were thanking him for but he hugged you tightly anyways. He hated seeing you cry and he would squeeze them all out of you until there was none left if he had to. “You are very pretty.” He stated, pressing a kiss to your head.
And this time, you didn’t argue. You just stayed there in his arms, and listened to the genuineness in his voice.

The people you killed, they haunted your dreams. They would say to you, “What you do always comes back to you, there is no escape from this miserable life.” It was true, there was no escape. In your world there was only darkness, sorrow, fear, hate and death, always death.
— A/N: It is I, your idiotic author. Welcome to my blog <3
Ch. 2
Tumblr media
The sound of rain was like a roaring beast. It was almost midnight and the roads were lonely. You stood there in an alley facing a madman, uh, mad-vampire. His eyes were glowing red; he was wearing a dirty grey cloak on his rag like cloth. His brown hair had gotten messy when he’d run away from you but there he was, still as a dead body, waiting for you to attack. There were thick walls on both sides of the alley and behind him was a dead end. He was trapped.
“Lockham, why don’t you come back with me? That way I won’t have to kill you,” you suggested to the psycho killer vampire who stood a mere ten feet away from you. There was no way for him to run so maybe he would attack. You weighed your options - fight? That would’ve been nice; at least your body would’ve gotten some exercise.
He laughed. “You think you can win? Destiny is waiting for you Hunter,” he said in an impressive voice. Another one of those ‘destiny’ believers. Apparently the Goddess had a plan for us all, not that you had much faith in it. Gods don't care about who kills whom or who eats what, they’re more concerned about their own entertainment. You’d never put much faith in any higher power, God or not, nobody gave a shit.
“You’ve killed people Lockham, you’ve been a very naughty vampire and now it’s time for your punishment,”you said as a teacher would say to a naughty kid. He took a step back.
“Who are you to punish me?” he mocked, showing you his blood covered teeth. He was just having a meal when you found him and then you two had a nice chase. You were glad that he ran, you wanted to stretch out your legs anyway.
“Exactly, I’m no one,” you said and took a step forward; he took a step back simultaneously and vanished. What? Vanished? How? You walked forward to investigate and sighed. How careless of you. There was a hole, he fell into the sewer. He must have used cloaking so that it would look like he vanished. The only thing he forgot was to close the hole. You shook your head,  you hated wet places! You jumped down and landed lightly on your feet, without making a sound, perfect.
You were getting bored of chasing him, it was almost dawn and you needed your beauty sleep. You took a deep breath and pulled out your silver dagger. It was your favorite weapon. Silver was deadly to vampires. It was very pretty with a finely carved snake on the handle with emeralds where the eyes should be; a gift from someone you had known a long time ago.  You closed your eyes and let your mind wander through the tunnels. Just like your immunity to silver, your telepathy was stronger than centuries old vampires and you could perform magic. You were a half-witch after all.
You found him running through the tunnels. As soon as your mind touched him, he froze. You were inside his mind now. Reading someone’s mind was nothing like watching a movie or reading a book. It was like waking up from a dream, you don’t remember what you saw or heard but the thing that you remember is the feeling, the essence of the dream. Every being has a certain essence, unique to them. Like walls that you can’t see or touch, but you know they’re there. You could clearly see the tunnel before you, but it was like a distant memory, you were no longer there.
You were in a room, an old room with cobwebs and dust. It smelled of something rotten, like a thousand dead rats. There were worn out clothes hanging from the ceiling - correction, there was no ceiling, just clothes hanging midair and swaying with the wind, except there was no wind. At one corner sat two rusty iron chairs. The window with broken glass showed a full moon.
There was an old cupboard on the wall with the yellow wallpaper. It was white as if someone had carved it from bone. There were noises coming from the cupboard, screeching, screaming, the cry of a baby, the soothing voice of a mother, someone’s last words. A shudder ran through your body. I will never ever do this again, you promised yourself.
You heard a creak from behind and you swiftly turned back. There he was, sitting in a corner, the little boy. He held a tattered grey cloak in his hands. His body was folded at impossible angles. He was white as a sheet, there was no blood in his body. He was thin with brittle bones. Dull brown eyes in a sunken face held unimaginable terror.
He looked up at you. “I’m tired, I want to sleep,” he whispered and quickly stole a glance at the cupboard.
“Then why don’t you sleep?” you whispered back, clearly not wanting to wake anything in there. Yeah, getting into someone’s mind was a nice thing, you could get full control over them... but there was a catch. If something went wrong in that mind or if you failed to escape in time, then you’d be trapped there forever, or die. You were pretty sure that you didn’t want to be trapped in this mind, not here.
“They don’t let me sleep, they keep me awake so that I could bring more and more food for them,” he replied, pointing a finger at the cupboard. Slowly, you understood what he was saying. ‘One without a soul feeds on other’s souls,’ the thought crossed your mind, not a good one.
“What if you don’t bring them food?” You already knew the answer but you asked anyway, maybe just to confirm it.
“I’ll go mad,” he whispered back with horrified eyes.
“Come to me, I’ll help you sleep.” The words left your lips, the real ones which were still attached to your face. Lockham turned back and slowly walked towards you. You could hear his heavy footsteps in the tunnel.  At last he took the last turn and there he stood right in front of you. His eyes were blank. It was like there was no soul in his body, no life. You had him entirely under your control. If you told him to do ballet, he would dance like a professional, but you weren't a sadist. Life had already tortured him enough.
“Come forward,” you said softly, the sooner it ended the better. He walked forward and your silver dagger slashed through his throat, severing his spine, killing him in a second. Blood splashed and soaked his body. It was a merciful death, you had seen worse. There are worse things than death in this world. Death was just an easy escape.
You stood there for a moment, looking at him, wishing that the outcome would’ve been different. Were you feeling sorry for him? No, you were feeling sorry for yourself. You were a fifty year old vampire and in all your years as a hunter you’d killed hundreds of criminals, but you had never been able to save one.
People knew and people talked. Some said that you were cursed; you were the representative of death, the spawn of darkness. As a result, the council only gave you high profile cases, criminals that were too far gone to be saved. It was always death. The people you killed, they haunted your dreams. They would say to you, “What you do always comes back to you, there is no escape from this miserable life.” It was true, there was no escape. In your world there was only darkness, sorrow, fear, hate and death, always death.
You pulled out your cell phone and called the police. They would take care of the body. You bent down to leave a tracker near it, so they would find it easily. Lockham’s eyes were wide open, and you closed them. “At least one of us is at peace,” you whispered.
Tumblr media
“You’re home!!” little Lilly exclaimed happily as you walked through the door. Your  family was sitting in the dining room, having supper. You were the firstborn, the eldest of your father’s children. Your father was the Duke of Serafino, the City of Snake; one of the two warrior cities in the Vampire Kingdom. He was a nice man with brown eyes and hair, fair complexion, nicely built but a little short.
Your stepmother was a beauty; she had blue eyes, fair complexion, sharp features and hair spun like gold. Her children took after her, all cream and gold. They all hated you, except for the little one, Lilly.
“Yay, I’m home,” you said sarcastically. It was hard not to be nice to the little girl who looked at you with wonder in her eyes; she was so full of life. To no one’s wonder you had blood on your clothes and your darling step mother eyed it with a look in her eyes that said filthy. For you, it was like an invitation. You were planning to have supper in your room just like any other day, but you sat down at the end of the table. Your father was seated at his normal seat which belonged to the head of the family. The chair right across from him was the place for his wife, but that was your mother’s place and now it belonged to you.
Your mother had died in childbirth, you had her amber eyes and olive skin. Her name was Katina. People told you that she’d been a beauty; you had some of her pictures and sometimes you would feel her close beside you. It was a weird feeling, but not bad, not at all. You weren't a person who put her feelings on display, heck you hadn’t even cried in like twenty years! The only permanent feeling you had left was emptiness. You felt numb, like a shell, nothing inside, no love, no hope, not even sorrow after all these years. It felt like you were dead and it was true, your heart was dead.
“I would like some blood sausages Charles and don’t forget the wine,” you said cheerfully to the butler. He was a nice guy, always talked politely. You suspected that he was in love with the cook, Ms. Glen; it would be nice to have some love in this house which felt like living in a coffin.
“How was your day, Y/N?” Lilly asked, her cheerful eyes trained on you. You wondered for how long this child would be allowed to keep her innocence? When you’d been her age ...you shied away from that thought. Thoughts bring back memories and your memories were like old corpses, one would never want to dig them. Instead you took a bite of your sausage - man, they were delicious.
“It was almost nice, Bunny. I played who-can-catch-me with a friend and I won!!” Bunny was the nickname you had given her because she was never still. Everyone paused for a moment; it was really weird and funny at the same moment. You loved how all the eyes drifted to you and back to Lilly. She was beaming because you had won the game. You gave her a small smile.
“Oh that’s wonderful!! Where is your friend now?” Curious little kid, everyone paused again, including you this time.
“You see, we were playing on a bet. He lost the bet so he had to …go to another city.” You were very good at lying, but her beaming eyes and pure innocence made it hard. It was impossible to lie to that child.
“When would he come back?” she asked, and you sighed. Your plate was half empty and the looks everyone were giving you just killed the hunger inside. You stood up with the wine glass in my hand.
“Chew your food, Bunny,” you replied and left the room.
Your room was a mixture of blue and gold. The wallpapers were straight lines of different shades of blue. The furniture was of mahogany wood with fine carvings. The round rug was golden on the edge and blue in the middle, it looked like a pool of water. All the linen was blue and gold as well. Your bed was round and big with golden bedposts and curtains. You had a balcony of your own with a little fountain with a sculpture of a mother and her child. You had spent a lot of time taking care of the blue roses in your garden.
The front wall was covered with your music collection. You found peace in music, it was the only time when you could just forget everything and float. You quickly changed and crawled under the sheets, picking up the remote from the side table and pressing the play button. It was Mozart’s duo. What an amazing symphony! It helped you drift back to your happy memories.
Unlike your half brothers and sisters, you were raised in Tiria. It was a small town on the edge of Serafino. You were raised by the Countess of Tiria, a very kind woman. She had grace, beauty, and wealth but no children. She showered you with love and pretty gifts. You had excellent teachers for your education. You learned everything from crochet to fencing.
The manor there was old and beautiful. It had a beautiful garden and a whole forest around it. You would often go into the forest, just to explore it. Those were the happiest days of your life. Until your tenth birthday - the day the Countess died.
Just like the symphony, your thoughts turned darker. You’d been happy that day; the maids had told you that you were going to have a big birthday party. The Earl had been there for two weeks now. Your innocent mind had thought that he was there for your birthday. That morning you were out in the gardens, picking up some red roses for the Countess, it was something you did every day. You would just run into her room to put them on her side table, she loved that. You held the bunch of roses in your tiny hands, running through the house to her room. You were wearing a very pretty white dress with laces and pink ribbons. Your bare feet softly met the stone floor as you ran to her room and pushed the door, happily calling to her.
The Countess was there, lying on the floor in a pool of blood. There were bruises on her body and a sword, stabbed right through her heart. The handle of the sword was in the hands of the Earl. He twisted the blade with a cruel smile in his eyes. Then you screamed. The flowers falling from your hands, red roses into red blood - they were the same color. Your pretty white dress was now red. You backed away still screaming, leaving little red footprints on the floor. The maids came running to you and held you tight as you screamed and screamed. You don’t remember for how long you were screaming or what happened later.
You drifted off to sleep.
It was a beautiful forest. The trees were so thick that sunlight barely touched the ground and everything was covered in moss. You were standing there in front of a giant wolf. It wasn’t a werewolf, it smelled like a  regular  one but just giant, like a direwolf. It was growling at you, baring his teeth. You had no weapons with you, you double checked. You looked around for an escape, you could kill him with your teeth but they weren’t as sharp as they’d used to be. You looked at your nails, they were fragile. Heck! You were human!!
“Y/N, wake up!!” the wolf suddenly spoke in a girly voice. It didn’t make sense, really.
“Are you a girl?” you asked the wolf who was ready to kill you. Talking to an animal, guess you had finally lost your sanity.
“Y/N!!” Someone was shaking you, trying to wake you up without much success. Then you realized you were sleeping under a bunch of blankets and pillows. It was three in the morning; you could tell by the smell of the air. You peeked at the person who had dared to disturbed you. It was Lily.
“What is it, Bunny?” you asked sleepily. It was good she had practice understanding you while you sleep talked, if it was anyone else, they would’ve thought you were talking gibberish.
“I had a bad dream,” she said with a puppy face. You knew what she wanted; she wanted to sleep with you.
“Me too,” you replied and ran your tongue over your teeth, yup, still vampire. “Come here you,” you said, grabbing her and stuffing her under the pile of blankets and pillows. You loved a warm cozy place to sleep. You held her like a teddy bear and dozed off again. She was so soft in your arms and she held tight onto you. Protecting someone was a good feeling. You went back to sleep as if  you had never woken up.

My Ranking Of Naruto's Next Gen Characters
1. Shinki - I immediately had a soft spot for Shinki because he's Gaara's son and because I'm a sucker for adopted relationships. But since then I really do like him as his own character. The more I see of him the more interested I am. I really hope they do some kind of arc about his past and where he came from and I hope it lives up to the anticipation I have built waiting for it.
Tumblr media
2. Himawari - A totally cutie, she's just such a sweet and fun character, the exact kind of thing I like most about this series. I also enjoy the fact that she's a natural with her byakugan and she's definitely one of those who I can't wait to see what she'll be like as she grows older. I hope she'll become a strong Shinobi but without losing her sweet soft hearted side.
Tumblr media
3. Wasabi - Honestly I love any character that has some kind of cat-like affinity and Wasabi is no exception. That said, like Shinki, this may have been what drew me in at first but the more I see of her, the more I enjoy in general. Her being an original character also helps and even if she doesn't have a big story of her own, I enjoy the little ones all the same.
Tumblr media
4. Sarada - Proof not all my favourites are bias because of their parents! I do not enjoy Sasuke or Sakura's characters at all, but Sarada is really growing on me! I find her quite entertaining, as someone who works hard to become strong rather than just being a natural, and even if Hokage is a pretty cliché goal at this point, it's still nice to see a female character with a desire that has nothing to do with a cute boy in her class.
Tumblr media
5. Yodo - This ones a bit of a cheat because we really don't know that much about her. But from what we do know, I really adore her. I love her design and there are really nice little moments for her. I like that she seems to be the friendliest of the Team Shinki group, being the only one to really talk to others in a easy going way.
Tumblr media
6. Araya - Again, another slight cheat for similar reasons but I have a soft spot for Suna characters. That and I find it sweet that Araya suffers from anxiety and leans on his friends (like Shinki) in order to stay calm and focus on the fight.
Tumblr media
5. Inojin - And we're back to my usual bias because let's face it, a lot of my love for Inojin is that he's Ino's son, haha! Still, I wouldn't like a character for that reason alone and I do find Inojin to be entertaining. He has some really nice episodes and I don't believe anyone who wasn't at least a little moved by Akkun's death!
Tumblr media
8. Sumire - She started off a pretty typical background character that I had no feelings for. She was the kind that was just there. Then they gave her an interesting backstory and villain arc and she definitely grew on me. I feel like there's room to develop her more but as she is, she's still fun to watch.
Tumblr media
9. Metal - While his design is one of the most unoriginal (it's not even funny how much of an obvious clone he is of his dad), I actually really like that he has an opposite personality to him. I wouldn't mind seeing him build more as his own character but the parts we have seen have been interesting and I feel genuine sympathy for the poor kid a lot of the time.
Tumblr media
10. Shikadai - He's just behind Metal in most unoriginal design. And that wouldn't actually bother me too much but he's got too much of his fathers personality as well. While I don't hate the character, I have no interest in him either since it's clear the show is just copying Shikamaru in most ways. Maybe if the series does something big and different to surprise the audience with him then he could earn a higher place but at the moment my biggest interest in him is that he's related to Gaara and Shinki.
Tumblr media
11. Boruto - While he definitely has a lot of negative traits, I don't dislike him all that much. Even if I don't agree, I can understand why he feels and acts the way he does. Most of my dislike is an entirely personal issue. I just don't enjoy his random devotion to Sasuke (and not just because I dislike Sasuke) and I just generally do not find him to be an eye catching main character. I'd much rather watch the other characters.
12. Chocho - Again, not necessarily a bad character. I like her design and I enjoy some moments of her. But I'm also very much put off by her personality. I just don't like those kind of girls so every time Chocho get's into one of her big headed speeches, I need to skip and move on. That being said, I still like her friendship with Sarada and enjoy watching her fight at the same time.
13. Iwabee - An interesting enough character, but simply not one I'm interested in. This is a funny one because by all means there is nothing at all wrong with him, but I still just don't care for him either way. The only scenes of his I really enjoy also involve characters I'm much more interested in.
13. Namida - I've conflicting feelings about this young girl. I actually liked that episode where she took a seemingly useless and problematic power (her crying/scream) and showed she can turn it into a powerful weapon with training. It was a really good episode and I adore her relationship with Wasabi. However apart from those two particular things, nothing else about her stands out and she's not really interested me any more than that.
14. Denki - Honestly the most boring original character. He's not necessarily that bad, but he's kind of a cliché in my eyes and I just don't find anything about him interesting at all. And it's not like Iwabee who I can live with or without, but rather I skip his scenes altogether.
15. Mitsuki - I just don't like him. Not only does he act just like Sai (without even the excuse of being related to Sai) but I've never liked the character who idolizes another this much. I especially do not like it when I feel the series doesn't even give a good enough reason for them to idolize them. Maybe if they had built the friendship between Mitsuki and Boruto, I might feel different but as it is, I generally roll my eyes whenever he's on screen.

JACOBIN FICTION CONVENTION MEETING 1: La Seine no Hoshi (1975)
Tumblr media
1. Introduction
Well, dear reader, here it is. My first ever official review. And, as promised, this is one of the pieces of Frev media that you have likely never heard of before.
So, without further ado, sit down, relax, grab drinks and snacks and allow me to tell you about an anime called “La Seine no Hoshi” (The Star of the Seine).
“La Seine no Hoshi” is a children’s anime series made by Studio Sunrise. It consists of 39 episodes and was originally broadcast in Japan from April 4th to December 26th of 1975.
Unlike its more famous contemporary, a manga called “Rose of Versailles” that had begun being released in 1972 and is considered a classic to this day, “La Seine no Hoshi” has stayed relatively obscure both in the world of anime and among other Frev pop culture.
Personally, the only reason why I found out about its existence was the fact that I actively seek out everything Frev-related and I just happened to stumble upon the title on an anime forum several years ago.
So far, the anime has been dubbed into Italian, French, German and Korean but there is no English or even Spanish dub so, unfortunately, people who do not speak fluent Japanese or any other aforementioned language are out of luck ( if anyone decides to make a fandub of the series, call me). That being said, the series is readily available in dubs and the original version on YouTube, which is where I ended up watching it. The French dub calls the anime “La Tulipe Noire” (The Black Tulip), which could be an homage to the movie with the same name that takes place in the same time period.
Unfortunately, while I do speak Japanese well enough to maintain a basic conversation and interact with people in casual daily situations, I’m far from fluent in the language so the version I watched was the French dub, seeing as I am majoring in French.
So, with all of this info in mind, let’s find out what the story is about and proceed to the actual review.
2. The Summary
(Note: Names of the characters in the French dub and the original version differ so I will use names from the former since that’s what I watched)
The story of “La Seine no Hoshi” revolves around a 15-year old girl called Mathilde Pasquier - a daughter of two Parisian florists who helps her parents run their flower shop and has a generally happy life.
But things begin to change when Comte de Vaudreuil, an elderly Parisian noble to whom Mathilde delivers flowers in the second episode, takes her under his wing and starts teaching her fencing for an unknown reason and generally seems to know more about her than he lets on.
Little does Mathilde know, those fencing lessons will end up coming in handy sooner than she expected. When her parents are killed by corrupt nobles, the girl teams up with Comte de Vaudreuil’s son, François, to fight against corruption as heroes of the people, all while the revolution keeps drawing near day by day and tensions in the city are at an all time high.
This is the gist of the story, dear readers, so with that out of the way, here’s the actual review:
3. The Story
Honestly, I kind of like the plot. It has a certain charm to it, like an old swashbuckling novel, of which I’ve read a lot as a kid.
The narrative of a “hero of the common folk” has been a staple in literature for centuries so some might consider the premise to be unoriginal, but I personally like this narrative more than “champion of the rich” (Looking at you, Scarlet Pimpernel) because, historically, it really was a difficult time for commoners and when times are hard people tend to need such heroes the most.
People need hope, so it’s no surprise that Mathilde and François (who already moonlights as a folk hero, The Black Tulip) become living legends thanks to their escapades.
Interestingly enough, the series also subverts a common trope of a hero seeking revenge for the death of his family. Mathilde is deeply affected by the death of her parents but she doesn’t actively seek revenge. Instead, this tragedy makes the fight and the upcoming revolution a personal matter to her and motivates her to fight corruption because she is not the only person who ended up on its receiving end.
The pacing is generally pretty good but I do wish there were less filler episodes and more of the overarching story that’s dedicated to the secret that Comte de Vaudreuil and Mathilde’s parents seem to be hiding from her and maybe it would be better if the secret in question was revealed to the audience a bit later than episode 7 or so.
However, revealing the twist early on is still an interesting narrative choice because then the main question is not what the secret itself is but rather when and how Mathilde will find out and how she will react, not to mention how it will affect the story.
That being said, even the filler episodes do drive home the point that a hero like Mathilde is needed, that nobles are generally corrupt and that something needs to change. Plus, those episodes were still enjoyable and entertaining enough for me to keep watching, which is good because usually I don’t like filler episodes much and it’s pretty easy to make them too boring.
Unfortunately, the show is affected by the common trope of the characters not growing up but I don’t usually mind that much. It also has the cliché of heroes being unrecognizable in costumes and masks, but that’s a bit of a staple in the superhero stories even today so it’s not that bothersome.
4. The Characters
It was admittedly pretty rare for a children’s show to have characters who were fleshed out enough to seem realistic and flawed, but I think this series gives its characters more development than most shows for kids did at the time.
I especially like Mathilde as a character. Sure, at first glance she seems like a typical Nice Pretty Ordinary Girl ™️ but that was a part of the appeal for me.
I am a strong believer in that a character does not need to be a blank slate or a troubled jerk to be interesting and Mathilde is neither of the above. She is essentially an ordinary girl with her own life, family, friends, personality and dreams and, unfortunately, all of that is taken away from her when her parents are killed.
Her initial reluctance to participate in the revolution is also pretty realistic as she is still trying to live her own life in peace and she made a promise to her parents to stay safe so there’s that too.
I really like the fact that the show did not give her magic powers and that she was not immediately good at fencing. François does remark that her fencing is not bad for a beginner but in those same episodes she is clearly shown making mistakes and it takes her time to upgrade from essentially François’s assistant in the heroic shenanigans to a teammate he can rely on and sees as an equal. Heck, later there’s a moment when Mathilde saves François, which is a nice tidbit of her development.
Mathilde also doesn’t have any romantic subplots, which is really rare for a female lead.
She has a childhood friend, Florent, but the two are not close romantically and they even begin to drift apart somewhat once Florent becomes invested in the revolution. François de Vaudreuil does not qualify for a love interest either - his father does take Mathilde in and adopts her after her parents are killed so François is more of an older brother than anything else.
Now, I’m not saying that romance is necessarily a bad thing but I do think that not having them is refreshing than shoehorning a romance into a story that’s not even about it. Plus most kids don’t care that much for romance to begin with so I’d say that the show only benefits from the creative decision of not setting Mathilde up with anyone.
Another interesting narrative choice I’d like to point out is the nearly complete absence of historical characters, like the revolutionaries. They do not make an appearance at all, save for Saint-Just’s cameo in one of the last episodes and, fortunately, he doesn’t get demonized. Instead, the revolutionary ideas are represented by Florent, who even joins the Jacobin Club during the story and is the one who tries to get Mathilde to become a revolutionary. Other real people, like young Napoleon and Mozart, do appear but they are also cameo characters, which does not count.
Marie-Antoinette and Louis XVI are exceptions to the rule.
(Spoiler alert!)
Marie-Antoinette is portrayed as kind of spoiled and out of touch. Her spending habits get touched on too but she is not a malicious person at heart. She is simply flawed. She becomes especially important to the story later on when Mathilde finds out the secret that has been hidden from her for her entire life.
As it turns out, Marie- Antoinette, the same queen Mathilde hated so much, is the girl’s older half-sister and Mathilde is an illegitimate daughter of the Austrian king and an opera singer, given to a childless couple of florists to be raised in secret so that her identity can be protected.
The way Marie-Antoinette and Mathilde are related and their further interactions end up providing an interesting inner conflict for Mathilde as now she needs to reconcile this relationship with her sister and her hatred for the corruption filling Versailles.
The characters are not actively glorified or demonized for the most part and each side has a fair share of sympathetic characters but the anime doesn’t shy away from showing the dark sides of the revolution either, unlike some other shows that tackle history (*cough* Liberty’s Kids comes to mind *cough*).
All in all, pretty interesting characters and the way they develop is quite realistic too, even if they could’ve been more fleshed out in my opinion.
5. The Voice Acting
Pretty solid. No real complaints here. I’d say that the dub actors did a good job.
6. The Setting
I really like the pastel and simple color scheme of Paris and its contrast with the brighter palette of Versailles. It really drives home the contrast between these two worlds.
The character designs are pretty realistic, simple and pleasant to watch. No eyesores like neon colors and overly cutesy anime girls with giant tiddies here and that’s a big plus in my book.
7. The Conclusion
Like I said, the show is not available in English and those who are able to watch it might find it a bit cliché but, while it’s definitely not perfect. I actually quite like it for its interesting concept, fairly realistic characters and a complex view of the French Revolution. I can definitely recommend this show, if only to see what it’s all about.
Some people might find this show too childish and idealistic, but I’m not one of them.
I’m almost 21 but I still enjoy cartoons and I’m fairly idealistic because cynicism and nihilism do not equal maturity and, if not for the “silly” idealism, Frev itself wouldn’t happen so I think shows like that are necessary too, even if it’s just for escapism.
If you’re interested and want to check it out, more power to you.
Anyway, thank you for attending the first ever official meeting of the Jacobin Fiction Convention. Second meeting is coming soon so stay tuned for updates.
Have a good day, Citizens! I love you!

Okay. Somebody Asked. @shoujobell and @cryptidaicat, y’all encouraged this. I’m gonna tag this #long post if you wanna filter.
So here. I got the urge to write and so I ranked the Fruits Basket couples from my favorite to least favorite. These aren’t my complete thoughts because I could honestly do multiple full meta posts on each pairing, but I tried to justify and explain all my choices. Standard disclaimer, this is subjective and we can agree to disagree.
Part 1: Just the reasonably popular ones
1. Kyoru: Someone’s gonna call me unoriginal for this but it’s fine. Kyoru is the main romance of Fruits Basket! They bring out the best in each other and build each other up as characters. Kyoru is basically my gold standard take on Sunshine Girl x Grouchy Dude, and I’m not even usually into that trope otherwise. Their romance is one of the few that feels so genuinely necessary to the story. They love each other and like each other. Kyo understands Tohru in a way no one else in the narrative does, and vice versa. They’re in love like soulmates and also like awkward teenagers. Kyoru invented romance. If it’s boring to like healthy romances with realistic development, I’ll be boring.
2. Tohrin: If Tohru didn’t end up with Kyo I would only want her to be with Rin. I guess they have some of the same appeal as Kyoru for me - Rin reads Tohru in a way a lot of people don’t. I also like how honest and raw they are with each other. They yell! They fight! Rin is down to just straight up knock Tohru over to keep her from rushing off. Also, they’re both absolute fashion icons. Goth x Prep rights. I firmly believe Tohru Honda is bisexual.
3. Yukeru: This is my favorite Yuki pairing. I followed @yunsoh way back when the reboot first started and her blog has got me absolutely hooked on Yukeru. I think Yuki’s arc would have just made a ridiculous amount of sense if he was gay. It screams comphet. Kakeru is an excellent complement to Yuki, and their bond feels incredibly natural. Honestly I feel like it’s the most organic romantic development outside of Kyoru. I think realistically they wouldn’t have gotten together until post-canon and frankly Yuki shines in his friendships much more than romances, so I’m not absolutely dying for them to be together, but if Yuki’s going to date anyone Kakeru is my pick.
4. Arisaki: Man... I just like them. They strike me as less of an epic love and more of a comfortable partnership. I also read them both as lesbians anyway lol. Honestly I think they both had feelings for Tohru at one point and bonded over it. The way I picture them happening is honestly just Arisa at 25 frantically googling “is it gay to hold hands with my girl roommate who I spend all my time with and also we never date men“ because Saki bought them rings that look like wedding bands but they could just be super close friendship rings and oh god she’s in too deep. They’re dating for four years before they notice.
5. AyaMine: But Jessie! You literally never post about this pairing! Yeah, you’re right. I never think about them actively. But when ranking the canon ships I realized that I like the two of them together because they’re chill and understated. They’re huge loud personalities on their own but as a couple, they just feel like two people who are happy together and like spending time with one another. No drama, no mess, very understated. No plot contrivances driving their relationship. Good for them.
6. YukiKyo: Okay, so I can be convinced to put on my YukiKyo goggles more often than not. It feels iffy because there’s debate about how closely related all the Sohmas are and these two are called “cousins” a lot in school, but since half of the Sohmas are dating each other anyway, I err on the side of them being more of a clan than a proper blood family. Anyway, YukiKyo is my designated angst fuel. I think it would realistically be pretty one-sided from Yuki’s side, since we see him wanting Kyo’s approval from a very young age, but I like exploring the what-ifs of their lives if they’d been friends instead of rivals. In canon, I like to think that after high school they’re not best friends in the traditional sense, but either one could show up with a dead body and the other would help them bury it, no questions asked.
7. Yuchi: Really? Yuki’s wife is my third favorite pairing for him? Look, I adore Machi, and I still like Yuchi. But as I’ve been watching the reboot and reading others’ metas, I think I agree that their relationship could have been very powerful as a platonic one, sort of running parallel to Yuki and Tohru. I like them together but I think there wasn’t quite time for a complete character arc for Machi and her growth sort of begins and ends with Yuki. I don’t object to them being a couple in canon and I think they’re genuinely very sweet, but once again, I think Yuki stands out in his friendships more than anything. I would have liked to see Machi strike out on her own a little more.
8. Haru x Yuki: I don’t have any particular feelings towards them but I love their dynamic already and I think as a couple they’d both be really easygoing and comfortable with each other. I think a childhood crush turned close friendship is honestly the narrative that works best for them so I have no need for the two to date canonically, but every time they interact in the anime it gets a laugh out of me. They’re cool. They’d make a very pretty pair.
9. Mayutori: I’m Mayutori-neutral. I think they suffer from Fruits Basket’s pair the spare syndrome, but out of the side pairings that don’t have too much impact, they’re one I enjoy. Mayu’s fun as a character, and painfully relatable, and I like that Hatori’s eventual romance isn’t with someone who reminds him of Kana or something like that. I also want good things for Hatori. Mayutori has serious heterosexual energy though. I’m not saying this as a pro or con, they’re just very straight.
10. Hatsuzu: Okay, Haru and Rin aren’t this far down because I hate them. I’m perfectly fine with them being together in canon. But I think their romance almost... functions better as individual motivation for their character arcs than it does as an actual relationship, if that makes sense? Rin’s backstory episode is heartbreaking and her motivation to protect Haru is compelling and sympathetic, but their actual scenes together just don’t move me that much. Their romance is the least interesting part of either character for me.
11. Hiro x Kisa: Yeah I never got into it that much. It’s cute, it’s a sweet depiction of childhood crushes, but I’m not a fan of the idea of them ending up together. Kisa’s a cutie and Hiro is entertaining but the two of them together don’t actually do much for me. The dynamic between them is almost like if someone did Kyoru with none of the nuance. Ultimately though, they’re kids. I don’t expect them to have a deep and complex romance.
12. Yukiru: I think it would be a disservice to their characters if they were a couple. People far more eloquent than me have already written plenty of meta on why Yuki and Tohru aren’t what the other needs romantically, so I won’t get into it, but basically I just think their canon friendship is so beautiful and meaningful that I wouldn’t want to change it. Yuki and Tohru support my thesis that not all soulmates are romantic.
13. Tohru x Momiji: Welcome to the subjective dislike corner! This pairing is reasonably popular among people theorizing who Tohru would be with if not Kyo, but for some reason it just sits poorly with me. I can’t rank it any lower because there’s nothing evil or morally wrong about it! I just really don’t like it. I’ve quit a few fics because this pairing came up and I just can’t enjoy it.
14. Kakeru x Komaki: Idk, I just think Kakeru latching onto the one girl who was nice to him and put up with his bullshit and then being with her forever isn’t compelling. Komaki’s also probably his beard. She’s likable as an individual though.
15. Akigure: There’s plenty to say about the age gap, Shigure being in love with Akito since she was a fetus because of The Dream, the implications of a 15-18 year old knowing he’d one day want to be with a then-10-year-old... yeah, you get it. But even if I was able to put all that aside because Soulmate Destiny Logic, I still don’t think I’d like Akigure. I think they’re interesting as bitter, codependent exes, but I don’t like the idea of Akito ending up with anyone who she abused or who abused her. I think she has so much growing to do as a character and staying in a relationship within the Sohma family to do it can’t be healthy for her. I can’t see them living happily ever after, nor do I really want to.
16. Kurisa: I think what frustrates me the most here is that I want to like Kureno and everything about this romance is written to dull his most interesting traits. First of all, the age gap. Yeah, it’s gross, I don’t like it. But even past that, the love at first sight, instant fixation with each other, and lack of actual chemistry just kills me. Arisa’s stated reason to like Kureno is that he reminds her of Tohru, basically piggybacking off the chemistry she and Tohru already have, and his total lack of agency means the plot just sort of carries him along. It frustrates me that Takaya could have done something pretty cool by making them simply friends who have a chance encounter and then build a friendship from there that parallels Kureno’s abusive dynamic with Akito. It would be neat if a stranger’s kindness was the push Kureno needed to get himself out of the Sohmas’ grasp, without all the nonsensical drama about them being in love. It would also be less of a disservice to Arisa, who basically just spends the whole series pining for Kureno after they meet and I hate it. I could write a whole post about this. Maybe I will sometime.
17. Kyoko x Katsuya: I don’t think their story is romantic. I think it’s tragic for Kyoko, and if it were framed that way within the narrative, I wouldn’t object so much to its existence. But... Takaya just really likes age gaps with a younger woman and an older man, so the narrative romanticizes this man marrying his student. Katsuya can be depicted as well-meaning as you want, but he’s still got a ridiculous amount of power over Kyoko. She was also still pretty young when she had Tohru, which doesn’t make things any better because it’s clear that the relationship turned physical when Kyoko was a teen, thus dashing the idea of Katsuya legally marrying her to save her but not actually doing anything creepy. I wish Fruits Basket framed this as a story of Kyoko escaping one dangerous situation by entering a relationship with a huge power imbalance, because that happens to girls all the time and it’s tragic and compelling. The events of the story could stay the exact same and if the framing changed I would be fine with it. But this is not that. This is just a really romanticized teacher/student age gap. I’m not into it.
Part 2: Rarepairs, weird shit, and others (oh my!)
1. Yuki x Kakeru x Kimi: OT3. I’m enamored with the idea of this hot mess polycule.
2. Momiji x Kimi: Chaos meets chaos. This couple would say uwu without any irony and also steal your car keys. They’re both perceptive and smart hidden under a layer of cute and I’d wanna watch them play 4D chess with each other.
3. Kazuma x Kunimitsu: Idk how old Kunimitsu is so if he’s like 20, strike this one from the record. But I saw one post once that was like Kyo slowly realizing Kazuma and Kunimitsu were gay and had been dating for years and it was funny as hell.
4. AyaTori: It’s cute. Opposites attract, black and white hair, and Aya only listens to Hatori anyway. It’s just fun to think about.
5. Megumi x Hiro: They don’t interact in canon I just think Goth x Punk-Ass Bitch is a great concept.
6. Motoko x Nao: They’re both loud as hell and Nao having a gf that towers over him is funny. Maybe Yuki would finally get some peace.
7. Machi x Kimi: I don’t see them actually being compatible in canon but I think they could have a really homoerotic college friendship.
8. Hajime x Mutsuki: This is just YukiKyo, the non angst version.
9. Akito x Hanajima: I’m so wary of shipping Akito with anyone but this is kind of fun. The two are friends in canon and Hana isn’t remotely afraid of Akito. Plus Akito never abused Hana. I can sort of see it.
10. Hiroshi x Yusuke: Makes no sense, wouldn’t be relevant, but if those two just never spent any time apart and continued being a pair for life it would be a really good bit.
11. Akitohru: I don’t think it’s healthy to date anyone who’s previously stabbed you.
12. Kazuma x Hanajima: Stop. Go to jail. Hana’s one-sided crush is funny though.

Northshore's couples, written by anonymous, about anonymous.
a crack idea bear and I had that I took seriously
g/t mean girls
November, 12th
Ifykyk.
Hey, Northshore! Welcome to a new section of the school newspaper. I've been fighting for a gossip blog for a hot minute now, and since the paper is dying down, Northshore is finally allowing it.
But this isn't just any gossip blog.
This is the place where I'm gonna -try- to answer your most burning questions about Northshore couples in question.
All through anonymity and observation.
To start, let's meet the students. All names have been changed so identities can stay hidden. In the tinies we've got: J, A, and R. Then in the giants there is: D, C, G, K, and S.
Who's with who? Who hates who? Who's got some secrets under the surface? Come back next week.
"Full offense to Northshore, this sounds stupid as fuck." Janis huffed, tossing down the newspaper, letting it fall to the table.
Karen looked at the small girl of Damian's shoulder.
"Why do you think?"
"Gossip blogs are unoriginal and boring. The school newspaper is grasping at straws."
"They can be fun when done right." Regina points out. "I say we check in next week and find out more about the students it's about."
"Whats-" Cady frowned. "What's a gossip blog?"
"Aww, baby's first gossip blog! We have to keep up with this one. Just for Cady." Damian said.
Karen watched with amusement as her friends discussed gossip blogs and if they were any good.
This will be fun.
November 19th
Love the feedback from last week guys! You're all as hyped as I am. And no. I won't confirm who your suspicions are. Stop slipping notes under the computer lab door.
This week J and D were seen together. (It's not uncommon.)
A was seen kissing C when they thought nobody was looking. But don't be fooled, somebody is always looking.
Not to be creepy or anything.
Just- we saw that, A.
You won't spot R without K or G anywhere near them, don't know if any of them are dating though.
Development into J and D's relationship as D is seen defending J from S. Sources couldn't hear what they were saying but it sounded pretty hostile. Is it just caring friends or something a little more?
This blog is focused around uncovering Northshore's couples once and for all. Have any tips? There's been a box placed by the computer lab door. Got any other people you want to see covered? Let me know!
Until next week, the anon who writes about anons. Xx!
"So," Cady looked down at her newspaper. "A gossip blog, is just talking about people?"
"Hence, the gossip part." Janis folder her own tiny newspaper, tossing it onto the cafeteria table from Damian's pocket. "And it's stupid."
"I wonder who it's about?" Gretchen said. "I know everything about everybody. But all this info? This is news to me."
"It's obviously about-" Karen paused. Was she the only one to figure it out?
Wasn't she the dumb one?
"Never mind. I dunno who it's about either."
"I don't understand why you care so much." Janis huffed.
"Because its fun to be nosey about lives that aren't ours. Duh." Regina said.
November, 26th
Happy Friday, Northshore!
Wow, lots of you sent in info about J and D. Whether you've cracked the code on who they are or maybe you're just observant of two fellow students- there is no denying they're pretty affectionate.
Since we're on the topic, let's start with J and D.
Kisses. Lots of them.
Romantic, or just friends? The duo themselves give pretty mixed answers so we must take matters into our own hands and draw our own conclusions. J was seen skipping class on multiple occasions and hiding with D. I hope J has a good tutor. I could never miss that much info.
R and G are seen together. K seems like they're third-wheeling. Somebody get them out of there. K, if you need a sos, slip a note in the box bby. We've got you.
If you want to talk about PDA, look no further than A and C. Wow! A hello kiss, a kiss kiss, a GOODBYE KISS? They may not say it themselves but those two are definitely a fairytale couple.
No updates to S. #singleforlife.
Sorry, S. If you're reading this.
"Well, A and C just sound gross." Janis frowns.
"Don't be negative, Jan." Damian shakes his head at the girl on the table. "They sound cute."
"Overly cute." Cady says.
"I'm glad somebody agrees." Janis huffed.
"Poor K. Thridwheeling a couple is awful." Gretchen sympathizes.
"We don't know if R and G are dating." Aaron points out. "We don't know if any of these people are dating. I'm kinda hooked."
"Well, third-wheeling best friends is even worse." Cady sighs, glancing at Damian and Janis.
Karen looked at the newspaper in her hands with a soft smile. She had a note to drop off.
December 3rd
Happppppy Friday! I have a big announcement right off the bat!
It is I, the writer, formally known as Anon. But now there's two of us! Me, the writer, and another student- the spy. Between the two of us (and your help from the box!) we're gonna crack these relationships open in no time!
This week's rundown!
R was with G the whole week. There was not one time they were separated.
A, J, and R were seen in the tiny halls together where  A was overheard talking fondly about C.
Is there a fight for J?
D and S seem to never want to leave J alone.
Although, if you asked the writer, I'm totally team JD. Message for S? This isn't middle school anymore. Being mean to somebody isn't a good way to show your emotions. Message for D? You're doing fabulous, I'm rooting for you. Message for J? Pick fucking wisely.
I'm a bit biased but my info is not.
Don't you worry.
Until next week, you know where the box is! Xx.
"Aw, J and D sound like a cute couple." Regina cooes.
"A and C don't." Janis shook her head. "To sappy."
"Is Jan warming up to the gossip blog? And forming opinions?" Damian teased.
Karen shook her head in disbelief. The fact that her friends were yet to catch on-
-they were dense. Not idiots, just dense.
"S sounds like an asshole." Gretchen shook her head. "Bet its a boy. Yknow when a boy would pull your hair in elementary school and you'd get told, oh boys will be boys. He just likes you! Yeah. S is a dude for sure."
"Not every boy was like that. I wasn't." Damian said.
"You're gay." Janis rolled her eyes.
December 10th
Heyo Northshore! It's the writer. Might I say, you look wonderful today?
I don't see you but I'm sure you're just stunning.
A must be p r e t t y stupid because they were seen all this week studying with C. A kiss for every problem right? Hey, it's not a bad deal.
R was seen primarily with K this week, throwing off all previous theories.
Must have been a rough week for J. I'd imagine you've got to be stressed as hell to just break down randomly but guess what- they did. Lack of sleep? Hunger? S? Who knows what the culprit was.
But don't you worry, D was quick to whisk them off to someplace quiet.
Love to see it, I want a significant other like that.
The day they confirm their relationship is the day I expect a wedding invite.
See you next week! Xx.
"Wow! Looks like Jan isn't the only one in Northshore who needs to learn when to take a break before the break takes them." Damian deadpanned, lowing his newspaper.
Karen blinked. Are you kidding me?
"I was just tired." Janis huffed. "I needed a nap."
"I dunno man. A and C sound cheesy as fuck." Gretchen shook her head.
"They do. Now J and D though? That couple goals." Janis said.
Karen's hand shot to her mouth as she covered a laugh with a forced cough. "Couple? You think they're together?"
"For sure. They sound made to be!"
Oh dear.
December 17th
Winter break next week! Who's excited? We get full two weeks off this year and I'm so ready for a break.
I'll miss our resident couples in question though.
Not to throw everyone off but-
J spent the week with G. R spent the week with C. And A was with D?
Now granted by the time you're reading this print, this is two-week-old information- but why?
Did you get bored and just s w a p?
Anyway, I guess S wanted into the mix too? Because they took advantage of no D to try and get to J. It didn't work. G was there to protect our favorite JD ship. I'm not saying they're a cockblocker bc I don't wanna imply anything, but S is d e f i n it l y trying to get something out of J. Motive unclear but hey, we can assume :/
Gross.
Anyway, there were multiple fights that broke out that day so idk what yall were on but jesus christ calm down. Not relationship-related but be fucking nice to tineis.
Ugh.
K had no part in this swap of s/o but hey, they weren't third-wheeling anymore.
Xx!
"Be fucking nice to tinies!" Regina cheers.
"J and G?" Janis frowned at the tiny newspaper in her hands. "Sorry, only know about J and D."
"Janis went from, ew gossip, to I'd die to have JD confirmed, real fast." Aaron pointed out.
"As she should." Gretchen pointed out. "They sound cute as fuck.
"Hands down they're lesbians." Regina said.
Karen shook her head, totally dumbfounded.
January, 7th
Did you miss me! I missed you. Mwah.
Right off the bat-
Uh. The box has been filled with messages from S saying, they do not like J.
So I guess they're just an asshole.
Hey, just means team JD is gonna win.
Speaking of-
When J was asked directly they said that, I quote "D is the love of my life." But when asking D, I was told: "[J is] just a good friend". Sort your story idiots. The school wants to know!
While S may be out of the running, many sources say JC is a rising ship? Between A and C and J and C, I can't help but wonder, is there a behind the scenes JCA?
Fellow tiny students report A and J not being very close in the tiny hallways though. Now J and R tho-
J is just one lucky mate.
Who's your favorite? Let me know in the box! Xx.
"J and D." Janis says from her perch on Damian's shoulder.
Karen just looked at her phone.
"You think there's a threesome going on in school?" Gretchen asked.
"Unlikely. I don't even this A and C sound cute. Why add another." Aaron rolled his eyes.
You don't think-
Karen sighed.
She really should tell them but- it was so much funnier this was.
Janis stood up on Damian's shoulder, pressing a quick kiss to his jaw without motive.
Karen turned back to her phone, unsurprised if that would pop up in next week's article.
January 14th
I love you- signed the writer.
Glad we got that out of the way.
NOW.
This was quite the week for our "couples".
First off, D and J? PDA through the roof.
Idk, maybe it's a special week, or maybe we're paying more attention and they've always been like that.
Those tiny kisses aren't lost on me, J. I see all.
Ugh, so cute.
A and C are-
"Skip this passage," Janis whined. "Nobody cares about them."
Everyone around the lunch table nodded as Karen began to read out loud again.
G kissed R?! R might have given a scowl but bystanders didn't miss the blush. Platonic or something more? That's the big question of this article but hey- this is a big step for all you GR shippers. Sorry to whoever wrote that long letter in the box passionately explaining how JR was peak friends to enemies to lovers.
Shame.
#JD, anyway, you know where the box is! Xx.
"Fuck A and C. All my homies hate A and C." Janis grinned.
Cady nodded. "They're too cliche. It's annoying and I don't even know who they are."
Karen placed her head on the table with a groan.
She may not be smart, but these people were flat out idiots.
She felt a tug on her hair and looked up, resting her chin on the table.
"You okay, Karen?" Janis stood in front of her, Newspaper held at her side.
"Yeah, just dying on the inside a bit. Yknow, leaf emoji."
Janis made a face. "I don't but uh-" She leaned in, pressing a quick kiss to Karen's nose. "Don't leaf emoji. We like you here, alive on the inside."
Karen smiles. "Thanks, Janis."
January 21st
Just when you think it's all figured out- J kisses K.
In front of D.
At this point- they're all together. One big happy family.
I'm still clinging onto my JD dream.
Speaking off-
S is back. Did you miss them? Me neither.
They just grabbed J like nothing? Anyway, D was there to save the day obviously.
Our great big hero got a pretty precious nose kiss from J.
I could make their own newspaper section about how cute they are. There is no way you can be that cute and n o t already engaged.
On another J note, if JD doesn't happen, I'd be pretty content with some CJ. C was seen giving J "a nice-sized smooch" (somebody from the box).
No development in the R and G category, just their usual cuteness.
Leave any tips in the box! You know where it is. Xx.
"Uh uh. JD over CJ." Janis shook her head.
Karen just placed the newspaper in her bag. Janis and Damian were quick to become J and D's biggest shippers. They were so good at confusing the school about their relationship status that they had themselves fooled.
Cady and Aaron, who were dating and just won't confirm it, hated C and A's relationship. Calling it cheesy and artificially sweet.
And Regina though R sounded like a bitch and G deserved somebody better.
The whole thing was just crazy.
"I gotta go talk to a teacher this period. It was fun reading the paper together though." Karen said getting up.
There was a chorus of 'bye Karen's as she walked away.
The newspaper holder in the hallways was empty. Northshore's 'couples' was quick to catch on and save the newspaper program.
Karen pushed the door open to the computer lab, making her way over to the tiny end.
"Hey, Glen."
Glen Coco looked up at her with a grin. "Got anything for me, spy?"

RWBY - Do I Ship It #2? Ruby Rose
Tumblr media
I’ve decided to continue this whole shebang with going over ships for individual characters each time. And for this one, we’re looking at our favorite cooking-deepthroating reaper, Ruby Rose...That may be one of my favorite character descriptions I’ve ever typed.
With introductions outta the way, let’s talk some Ruby ships.
White Rose
kinda leaves me indifferent?
overrated
would read a fic about it
Ideally, White Rose has become one of those ships that half of the FNDM loves to hate. But me, I’m not as triggered by it, let alone nowhere near as angered by it’s presence simply because it’s not Bumbleby.
Unlike BB, in which it’s presence makes me wanna slug my screen every time I see a comment thread screeching high praise about it, I can look at White Rose and just be more like: “Eh. It’s okay.” Simply because I have seen WR content that I enjoy, and that at least many WR shippers know when to shut up when they’re called out unlike Wasps.
Really, a lot of the content has a lot heart put into it to where I really can’t get mad at it. I know it’s a WLW ship. I know that’s become a thing to generally hate among RWBY fans. But I do think that WR is the lesser of two evils between that and BB not because I have a lot of friends who ship it, but because I think folks crap on it way too much compared to the demon that BB has become.
Am I saying there aren’t toxic WR fans still around? Hell no. They need to be called out on it, too. But I’m also generally more relaxed about the ship. Nothing major really.
Ladybug
I SHIP IT
CUTENESS OVERLOAD
underrated
hELL YES
Ladybug has become a recent addition to my ship list a while back. But I’ve fallen head over heels for it in such a short amount of time.
Even many folks I’ve spoken to who tend to gag at the mention of WLW ships in a fandom as egregious as RWBY’s agree that the Bugs are really harmless given soft the content of this ship often is. I’m not saying that Ladybug is all “wee-hee-we’re-a-couple-of-happy-go-lucky-dorks” because that would make it unoriginal and boring to read in many cases.
No, the reason I’ve grown to adore Ladybug so much is because I’m one of those who parrots how much of a missed opportunity (like the show is as a frigging whole) how many interactions there could be between Ruby and Blake.
Why wouldn’t they? They’re both into fantasy stories, both have darkened color schemes, and share some general views on why they fight. Really, Ladybug is just a good way for me to fill the void of just how much Rooster Teeth doesn’t give a fuck about how to organize their characters properly?
Volume 5 gets Freezerburn, and not onwards? Come on, RT.
But before I end up turning this into a rwde post, let’s just move onto the next ship.
Nuts & Dolts
I SHIP IT
CUTENESS OVERLOAD
Soulmates
I WOULD DIE FOR IT OKAY
Yeah this one was pretty obvious. But who cares?! I frigging adore Nuts & Dolts.
Let me just be clear in saying that I can ship it platonically/romantically, simply because I love the bond that Ruby and Penny share. They’re both hyperactive, kindhearted and strong-willed girls with a penchant for bladed weaponry and wanting to make the world a better place for everyone.
This initially made N&D into a guilty pleasure ship for me. But over time, I just couldn’t resist or get mad at it because I love how soft it feels. Same reason as Ladybug for the most part. But overall, I like N&D because of just how much soul there is between two people who were born differently with a set of powers that aren’t what you’d call “ordinary”.
As someone who’s been called “unique” or other labels with the disability I have, I usually find it very pretentious and downright grating to see stories that are supposed to be uplifting about being born in a different manner because that can be really damn annoying after a while.
Yeah, stuff like disability or other stuff is under-represented in pop culture. But often it’s portrayed in a very “Hollywood” fashion even if it’s not a work from that culture and work mindset.
I’m not saying N&D is one of those “unique” portrayals, but as something that shows what happens when two saviors who wanted a normal life have someone in each other that they can trust and even love for their shared experiences of being born differently.
Which is why I’ve grown to accept Ruby and Penny as the popular fan portrayal of being girlfriends or platonic friends. They have so much in common, which makes it that much more endearing for me personally.
Okay. Those are some Ruby/Other girl ships outta the way. Now let’s discuss some Ruby/guy ships...Here’s where it gets a little odd.
Lancaster
BROTP
overrated
no thanks
Oh boy. I’m probably gonna get some flak for this entry...
Let me just be clear that this is a post that is NOT meant to attack any particular shippers. This is me stating what I feel about certain ships and me occasionally talking about how I think they would turn out.
It’s not my headcanon interpretations, per se. But instead it’s more how I picture it based on my experience with viewing relationships in my own life before I started discussing fandom ships.
Now that I have that out of the way, let’s discuss Ruby/Jaune.
When I first started watching RWBY, my first ship, like many others was Arkos (more on that when I cover Jaune). I felt that Pyrrha was just the right fit for a lovable dweeb like him with how it helped kick-start his character development and the framework for how he would improve himself overall.
Granted, I wasn’t really expecting Arkos to be canon since Pyrrha had died in V3. It was a tragic outcome for a ship that had so much buildup. And most of the FNDM agreed that Jaune needed a hug along with his friends to help him through it.
When I started to hear about the fact that Jaune was shipped with other girls in the main cast, I wasn’t really shocked since White Knight was already fairly popular. But when I found out about Lancaster, it was like: “Wait a second, people actually ship him with Ruby?”
Was more confusion than astonishment, to be honest. I didn’t really think that it would’ve been fitting despite how close and similar both team leaders were. But I decided to bite the bullet and give it a try with reading a couple of Lancaster works.
I got bored.
I’m not so much angry whenever I hear about Lancaster as I am just not impressed by how much fanon works recycle many tropes and plot elements.
Ruby is secretly in love with Jaune.
Jaune does something adorkable or manly which attracts Ruby.
Ruby makes/attempts to make a move on him with some crazy or titillating way that, while in-character for her, has been repeated one times too many in this or other ships featuring her.
Jaune is generally being a good boi throughout. I like Jaune, but I feel that he’s put in too many fanfics in which he’s overly good and pure. Again. It’s fitting for him, but sometimes a bit of difference in fan interpretation is nice. Make him angry, have him lash out at his friends at times. Just don’t make him a “perfect” boyfriend.
Both dorks often have to hide their relationship because of the possibility of Pyrrha being jealous, Yang going apeshit, or other characters reacting the way they do which is often buzzwords in a fic like that.
Lancaster shippers, I am not attacking you since this is your thing. If so, fine. But it’s not mine as I am giving an attempt to give constructive criticism about some of the ships listed here while talking about ships I like to make these posts all about even ground.
I prefer to see Ruby and Jaune as besties. Hell. I prefer to see them more like siblings considering how much Jaune acted like a big brother to Ruby on the road to Mistral with how Yang was bedridden with depression in V4. I also think that Jaune needs a friend right now rather than a love interest. The same could be said for a lot of characters right now, but that’s a different topic.
My biggest criticism for LC is that while I understand the similarities that they share, it’s the whole “opposite-gender-leads-fall-in-love” trope. This trope can be done right *coughRENORAcough* but is put in so many works that I’m not one of those fans who’s impressed with it.
The ship isn’t original, but it’s nothing to make me wanna rage-post like I’m Keemstar on Red Bull or the like. And I know people who are into it, to which I tell them: Good for all of you. It’s simply not my cup of tea.
Rosegarden
would read a fic about it
meh
not really my thing
Oh god, how I wish it wasn’t harvest season!
Kidding. Kidding. Rosegarden is legit, and all my friends in the group who ship it are wonderful people.
Another ship that I can’t really get angry at since compared to other ships that cover things like young love or ships of people who were born differently (see my Nuts & Dolts entry), RG is pretty fucking harmless and I can tolerate it more even though I’m not into it.
While I understand why it seems hypocritical of me to share and repost stuff related to RG on occasion, this is simply because I have reason to share it based on how much I’ve interacted with shippers and how I’ve actually had productive discussions with them outside of their ship.
It’s the community which I like more than the ship because of how much more chill they are. But there’s also a big reason why I know that some people crap on this one.
Ozpin.
Dude, if I had a Dollar for every “RG-is-pedophilia-because-Oscar-is-Ozpin’s-puppet” fallacy that was posted I wouldn’t be needing a stimulus check. Let me explain to y’all why that’s bullshit.
(RWDE mode online)
Is Ozpin eons of years old? Yes. He’s from Humanity 1.0 and was thrown into the bodies of men in the modern world in his war against Salem. It’s a rough situation with a lot of baggage to any relationship he puts up or wishes to even build-up and I don’t think it should be swept under the rug because there’s a lot of stuff that should be brought up about the guy.
Is Ozpin intervening on any potential interaction between Ruby and Oscar? No. Canon or no, Oz has been a neutral party in whatever interactions the two kids have because it’s not really his business. Do you honestly believe that if Ozpin would be the kind to boss his host around that he would attempt to butt in on their friendship?
As an Oz critic, I can say that while I understand both interactions, I draw the line at this ship being considered pedophilia.
I mean, come on! The FNDM ships Ruby with villains like Roman, Cinder and Salem, who are adults when she’s a teenager! And suddenly it’s okay to claim pedophilia just because Ozpin is present?! ARE YOU HIGH?
If we’re going with that logic, fine, just have Ozpin ascend from his brain after Salem is 86′d, THEN we can have a development in RG’s friendship whether it’s romantic or not. But leave the fans of this pairing out of it!
(RWDE mode offline)
The reason I don’t ship Rosegarden is because I’m not a fan of the whole “young love” trope either. I wouldn’t mind it so much if Oscar wasn’t relegated to a support role due to being an Oz host and he had more screen time rather than the old wizard.
Maybe I’m just too cynical about stuff like this to really care. But the point is, I can’t get mad at this ship either and I’m willing to read up on it in small doses.
Strawbana
I ship it
CUTENESS OVERLOAD
the sexiest pair
we need more of it
underrated
Sun Wukong, you magnificent monkey bastard! You always seem to brighten my day whenever I’m looking through critical discussions related to this show.
Much as I love BlackSun, I’m definietly curious to learn more about other ships involving my homeboy here. Solar Flare, I also like. But Sun/Ruby? Thank you sir, may I have another!
Ugh. Can’t believe I just quoted Animal House to describe my love for this painfully underrated ship. Somebody get me some soap...
Other than their VAs being married in real life, I like Strawbana/Red Sun the same reason as Nuts & Dolts with this being a ship that features two extremely upbeat characters finding love in one another with just how much they kick ass for the reasons of just being good people.
Kinda/sorta the only straight Ruby ship I’m into just because of how much they could rub off on one another, and how much I’d love to see them interact more in canon material. Not just the show but any other tie-in stuff.
Next time, we cover Weissu.

A Gay Cause
inspired by this
High School AU where Alya and Mari have been best friends for a while now, but haven’t met Adrien yet
Summary: Alya is but a dumb bi
Warnings: none
Wordcount: 1590
"Look at him," Alya points to the cute boy she'd probably talk up if she didn't already like Marinette.
"Ooh," Marinette nods appreciatively.
"I'm gonna go talk to him," Alya declares, and slides into the seat next to him with a wink. He looks at her, slightly startled.
"Hey, handsome," she purrs, offering a hand. "I'm Alya."
"Adrien." He accepts her hand. Instead of letting go after they shake, Alya uses his hand to lean in next to his ear and whisper, "How'd you like to be a fake love interest so I can make my best friend jealous?"
He leans back, looking at her in confusion. She nods back towards Marinette. "Been in love with her for a few years, but she's an oblivious idiot and won't recognize when I'm trying to flirt with her. Maybe she'll notice if I'm 'interested' someone else, yeah?"
"Well," Adrien drew out the word, considering. "If it's for a gay cause, sure."
"For a gay cause," Alya agreed, and they shook hands again before letting go. Alya pulls her phone out of her pocket and pulls up an empty contact, offering it to him to put in his info. When he hands it back, she see he's nicknamed himself "A Helper to Gays" and snorts.
"Helper to bi's, actually," she tells him. He flushes, and she snorts again, standing up to go. "It's fine. Thanks for agreeing to help."
"Of course!" He waves, endearingly awkward. "Nice to meet you!"
"You too," She winks again and sashays off to Marinette, to whom she promptly acts embarrassed. "I can't believe I did that," she whines, burying her face into Marinette's shoulder.
"There, there," Marinette pats her back, sounding slightly patronizing. "It looked like it went well."
"I winked at him," Alya bemoans. "Twice!"
"How'd he take it?"
"He didn't see it the first time, or if he did then he didn't react, and then the second time was right before I left so I didn't see his reaction. What if he thinks I'm too forward?" She can feel Marinette shifting to look at him.
"He seems fine; he's smiling."
The bell rings and the teacher starts talking before Alya can think of another thing to 'worry' about from their interaction.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The rest of the day passes pretty smoothly and Alya and Marinette wind up at the latter's house, talking together about how they thought their first days went and snacking on pastries that didn't look pretty enough to be sold but still tasted fine.
"Oh!" Marinette exclaims suddenly, and Alya hums questioningly at her through a mouthful of croissant. "That boy you talked to this morning! It looked like you got his number, have you texted him yet?"
"Nope!" Alya sucks air through her teeth and pulls out her phone, showing Marinette the contact he'd made (she'd switched out his nickname for "Pretty Boi" for this exact scenario, so Marinette wouldn't suspect anything). "Marinette what do I sayyyy."
"How about 'hi'?" she deadpans.
"Boring. Unoriginal. Not me enough," Alya pronounces the suggestion. "I need something," she does jazz hands "y'know?"
"Like with me?" Marinette asks. Her perfectly normal, "Hi, it's Marinette!" had been greeted with, "Ah, the new friend. Welcome to insanity. No takebacks." About half an hour later she'd sent "(it's Alya, hi)", but that'd been after she'd left her stunning first text.
"Exactly!" Alya points at her. "Gotta make an impression!"
"Can't you just do the same thing you did with me?" Marinette asks.
"No, this is the first text!" Alya exclaims. "Mine was the second, since you'd texted first. I've got to come up with something suitably impressive that'll embarrass me if it's the wrong person and embarrass me a little anyway even if it is Adrien, and it's got to be recognizable as me."
"Welllll," Marinette tilts her head as she thinks. "Did you say something when you were talking that you could reference?"
"Hmm," Alya thinks back. "Oh! We talked about how bi I am." Pressing the messages button in his contact, she types, "btw bro what's ur orientation"
Marinette, reading over her shoulder, snickers and shoves Alya. "You can't be that forward!"
"Too late." Alya sticks her tongue out, and they play-fight for the next couple minutes until Alya's phone dings and they both rush over to look at the message.
"? What? Is this Alya?"
"yea yea. n i mean who r u into. we've already established i'm bi so i won't judge u if u like guys"
"Oh, no I'm straight, but power to the LGBTQ+ community, right? I don't see why people can't let others be what they are and like who they like without kicking up a fuss."
"oh ur a keeper"
"? What??"
"nothing. marinette says ur a keeper"
"I did not!" Marinette huffs with no real heat behind it and reaches for the phone.
"You were thinking it though!" Alya giggles, pulling it out of her grip. They fight over it, probably sending keysmashes and confusing Adrien horribly. Marinette manages to grab it and dance out of Alya's reach long enough to send off a text before Alya reclaims it. There are a few keysmashes and Marinette's text, "I Did Not, Alya lied"
"sorry, marinette stole my phone"
"Ah," Adrien says, and then there's a few seconds' pause before the bouncing ellipsis shows up as he asks, "DID you lie?"
"yeah, guilty as charged ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ u r a cool dude tho adrien"
"Thanks! :)" Alya shoots off a smiley face back, and the conversation naturally draws to a close.
"There!" Marinette claps her hands on her thighs. "That was easier than expected, hm?"
"And it was a better conversation than if I'd just gone with 'hi', hm?"
"I'll admit it if you do?"
"Never."
"Fair enough."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next few weeks pass and Alya falls into an easy friendship with Adrien, though she plays up the "budding crush" when alone with Marinette.
"You seem fine whenever you're talking to him," Marinette points out.
"It's weird! Like when I'm actually talking to him I'm fine but then we stop and it hits me that I'm talking to him, y'know?"
"Yeah," Marinette sighs. "I know the feeling."
"Oooh," Alya leans forward, hoping she's wrong but shoving her feelings aside. "Has someone got a crush?"
"Oh, like you're any better with Adrien," Marinette shoves her away. "Personal space, Als, gosh."
"Oh, c'mon, you love me," Alya flops her head into Marinette's lap.
"You're lucky I do," Marinette says and starts playing with her hair.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I just realized," Alya says.
"What?" Adrien asks, looking up from his textbook. They'd met up at the library to work on homework together.
"I have no clue what I'm supposed to do about Marinette."
"What about Marinette?"
"Like, the whole plan was I pretend to have a crush on you to make her jealous, right?" Adrien nodded, still looking confused. "Well, I don't know where to go now? I don't even know if she's jealous? How do I go from supposedly crushing on you to confessing to her?"
"Ohh," Adrien stares at her as the situation sinks in for him too. "I have no clue."
Alya starts giggling, feeling slightly hysterical, and faceplants into her open textbook. She asks around it, "We really are dumb, aren't we?"
"Yeah, kind of."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Soon after Alya's realization, Marinette starts acting a little weird. It's not a big difference from her normal self, just. Squeaking in surprise a lot more. Sounding nervous around Alya for no reason she can discern. Going quiet randomly and having to be pulled back to reality.
After about a week of this, she confronts Marinette.
"Okay, girl. What's up."
"What do you mean?" Marinette asks, voice going up like it does when she's trying to play dumb.
"Girl," Alya gives her a look. "You've been acting off all week. What's up."
"Well," Marinette twists her fingers, looking off to the side. "I may have overheard you and Adrien talking in the library?"
"Okay, I couldn't hear the second half of that for squeaking. You may have what?"
"I might've overheard you and Adrien talking in the library?" Marinette says, gazing fixedly at a spot on the wall. "About... not homework?"
"Not homew— oh." Alya grabs the nearest thing—a pillow—and hides her face behind it. "You heard that? All of that?"
"Yeah..."
"Kill me now, before my embarrassment does," Alya tells the pillow. Or Marinette, she's not really sure.
"But..." There's a long pause, and Alya peeks up from behind the pillow to see Marinette looking like she's screwing up her courage.
"But?" she echoes.
"But if I do that, I—I won't be able to tell you I like you too." Marinette squeezes her eyes shut, like she's bracing for rejection. Alya can't do anything but gape at her, and slowly one of Marinette's eyes peeks out at her, then both, looking at her in concern.
"Alya? You okay? Did I break you?"
It takes a second for her to reboot, but once she does Alya smushes Mari in a hug. "Girl! Really?!"
"Really!" Marinette repliess, slipping her arms loose from Alya's grip so that she can hug her back properly.
"You wanna date each other then?" Alya asks excitedly.
"Yeah!" Marinette beams, and Alya beams back.
"Alright, girlfriend," she says, enjoying the way the word sounds.
"Alright, girlfriend," Marinette echoes, looking like she likes the sound of it just as much.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That evening, Alya sends Adrien a selfie of the two of them, captioned, "Thanks for helping the gay cause ;)"
Poptropica Island Ratings
okay I saw a post on here a while ago and someone rated the Poptropica islands. I remember agreeing with a lot of them, but they only went so far so a lot of the newer islands were missed out. I came across it again recently and got hit by a wave of nostalgia so I’m gonna do my own now. Unoriginal content very good. i’ll put a keep reading link to stop it from taking up too much space
Early Poptropica - mega nostalgia but kinda boring. I like the original Poptropicans being pixely and there is a goth gf in the sewers however the giant green spider scared the shit out of me as a kid and the idea of an aircraft graveyard made me sad so 6/10
Shark Tooth Island - also nostalgic but I didn’t complete it for a long time for some reason.. very short. it has a story but its there is nasty shark and people stuck on an island so make a calming potion. the medicine man looks like he is from viva pinata so 6/10
Time Tangled Island - VERY GOOD AND FUN AND HISTORICAL FUCK THAT AZTEC THO DICKHEAD. quite lengthy for an island but this is good because that means more time periods to explore. it’s also educational but i just care about restoring time. very legendary the iconic just jumped out - 10/10
24 Carrot Island - stupid pun point taken off. introduces Dr Hare and people are THIRSTY. you can dye your hair with milkshakes. i thought it was creepy as a kid honestly. i think its mind control or something. but i like it, it still has nostalgia value 8/10
Super Power Island - very legend like. i loooove the antagonists, especially copy cat but i think i had to look up a guide to beat her because i was dumb af. you need a licence to be a superhero but you are a superhero!!! very fun i like this one a lot 10/10
Spy Island - i remember sucking at this one as well as a kid.  i think it fucks with peoples hair and i only remember because my character looks fresh 100% of the time and this island fucked it up i think. i don't really remember it tho. 5/10
Nabooti Island - it’s based on a Choose Your Own Adventure book so good premise. go around the world is also good. you have to get jewels i think. ngl i didn’t finish this one because i sucked at it so i’m just going off the wiki and how far i got into it. fuck the animal puzzle 7/10
Big Nate Island - who the fuck is Big Nate. i only remember the school climbing frame and a stink bomb. fuck you big nate we don’t have your comics in England 1/10
Astro-Knights Island - medieval knights.... IN SPACE?!?! COUNT ME IN. crazy jester bard guy antagonist. people are thirsty for him too. i’m pretty sure you end up in another dimension or something. cyborgs and shit 9/10
Counterfeit Island - bruh i loved this island. pretty sure antagonist is also making people thirsty. you have to go back to Early Poptropica Island to complete it, very cool. investigating crime is cool idea it’s l.a. noire in poptropica. the wiki says there is a glitch called anti-social clown and i have to say relatable 9/10
Reality TV Island - i think i completed this like twice and i remember jackshit. you get to see past characters tho so very good. it’s just doing challenges. 4/10
Mythology Island - VERY GOOD. LEARN ABOUT MYTHOLOGY. you can fight hydra and other creatures, you meet Zeus you meet Hades, Aphrodite is a bitch. 9/10
Skullduggery Island - pirates are always good no matter what. apparently it is one of the hardest islands which explains why i never completed it but you fight other pirates and sea monsters for doubloons or some shit sounds cool to me 8/10
Steamworks Island - steampunk is good. i remember completing this and thinking it was interesting and weird to look at. i think the atmosphere is was lonely tho. there’s a boss battle against a plant i think. otherwise i don’t fuckin remember 7/10
Great Pumpkin Island - it’s Peanuts so it’s nice. very nice and simple. it’s just about the great pumpkin except you’re there. 6/10
Cryptids Island - GOD TIER. CRYPTIDS IS SUCH A GOOD IDEA. some of it is scary tho. the jersey devil just fucking staring at you from the window was a shit the bed moment for a kids game. also before the islands got rebooted, it was one of the only islands to have sound effects, i.e. when the chupacabra bursts out the box. honestly because of the balls on this kids game to scare children and also being good island 10/10
Wild West Island - the only thing better than pirates is cowboys. i don’t really remember it but you do go against an outlaw gang. i like cowboys 10/10
Wimpy Wonderland Island - Jeff I know you made doawk and poptropica but did you have to show it. ngl i liked it because i like doawk. but it’s kinda... creatively bankrupt i guess. 3/10 2 points because Rodrick is there
Red Dragon Island - i think more time travel but just to old Japan. you have to save a girl. that’s all i remember. also i think there is a nasty samurai guy. but also evil dragon. i can’t remember because for the longest time this was a premium account only island so i never got to finish it for the longest time. that was a dick move 7/10 for that alone.
Shrink Ray Island - cool premise but this island expects me to learn morse code 3/10
Mystery Train Island - detectives? on a train? very nice. basically murder on the orient express except no murder and thomas edison is there and also various other 1700/1800 nerds
Game Show Island - basically Reality TV except it’s to save the world from robots. 5/10
Ghost Story Island - wow iconic. this is the only island with voice acting and it’s to fucking jumpscare you i shat myself.  ghost hunting, very cool 10/10
S.O.S Island - it’s basically Titanic mixed with Moby Dick. it’s ok 6/10
Vampire’s Curse Island - i reaaaally like this one. i like vampires. it has a vampire daddy in it so. he kidnaps a teenage girl tho because he thinks its the love of his life who is dead. kinda weird. he does stop being insane at the end tho and says sorry and dies. the girls bf is a dickhead tho. 9/10
Twisted Thicket Island - i think you’re saving a forest from becoming housing. i really like it because it introduces various folkloric creatures like the nokken. i only remember the nokken because i went on akinator to see if he knew what it was and i don’t think he did so i added it and it’s photo to his database. or maybe it was just his photo but i remember uploading something to akinator. 8/10
Poptropolis Games Island - i don’t think i liked this one 3/10
Wimpy Boardwalk Island - Jeff. 2/10 1 point added because Rodrick is also there
Lunar Colony Island - space is good. do i remember this island tho? no. i think theres aliens tho. 5/10 because i like space and aliens.
Super Villain Island - it brings back the most memorable villains like binary bard and black widow. you find out why they are evil. pretty chill 8/10
Charlie and The Chocolate Factory Island - what do you expect 5/10
Zomberry Island - the last of us except i think people are just eating nasty berries really. i like it it’s spooky 7/10
Night Watch Island - Paul Blart Mall Cop 6/10
Back Lot Island - you make a film. i can’t remeber it like at all. 6/10 because it sounds ok
Poptropolis Games Island Part 2 - fuck off 2/10
Virus Hunter Island - i don’t think i completed this one either. however it is one of those inside the human body things which is always cool if cliche. 8/10
Mocktropica Island - very satirical what if about if poptropica was run by assholes. ironic since a bunch of islands were made premium only for a while. pretty sure the bonus missions still are too which is why i’m not mentioning them. funny tho 7/10
Monster Carnival Island - spooky yes. people thirst over the ringmaster raven guy too. theres a spooky clown on the ferris wheel. i don’t remember much other than i liked it because it was about monsters in a theme park. 9/10 i remember it was surprisingly short tho
Survival Island - castaway except it’s you. i don’t remember it either lmao. i got out of touch with old poptropica real bad by this time so my next ratings might be unfair sorry. pretty sure it also becomes the most dangerous game tho and some guy wants to actually fucking kill you. ballsy. 7/10 because it sounds ok i should maybe play it.
Mission Atlantis Island - i like atlantis but i didn’t play this one either. you see deepsea creatures which are spooky so extra points 8/10
PoptropiCon Island - poptropica’s answer to comicon. now i did play this one for some reason but i don’t remember it too well either. i was 14 when it came out so. sounds like yu-gi-oh so good. 7/10
Arabian Nights Island - didn’t play it i think it’s just telling the story. it’s a cool story so 7/10
Galactic Hotdogs Island - what the fuck 1/10
Mystery of The Map Island - vikings are cool. island seems very short tho. 5/10
Timmy Failure Island - who the fuck. this would be more impactful if i read these fucking things but i don’t. who the fuck are you timmy. i guess it’s called failure for a reason. (that was mean sorry) 1/10
Escape from Pelican Rock Island - prison break, nice idea. you have like a twin in this one. seems a bit repetitive sometimes tho. theres like 7 days of doing similar things. 6/10
Monkey Wrench Island - it was created to be the new tutorial, i.e. an actual tutorial rather than Early Poptropica. very fast and boring, especially if you already know everything. 2/10
Crisis Caverns Island - i know nothing about this. even the wiki is incomplete. maybe that means its shit then. 1/10 the wiki doesn’t even care too much about this one.
Greek Sea Odyssey - more ancient greece is always good. you get to beat the shit out of zeus this time 8/10
Snagglemast Island - all you do is collect coins. another tutorial one. 1/10.
bonus: home island. legit just a hub. points added because you can do a lot of customisation here and pick up a pet that doesn’t cost credits. 4/10
DOUBLE BONUS: the little haunted house mini thing. very good because spooky costumes, spooky house fun little monster party. 10/10
Note
☕️ OH YKNOW WHAT AT THAT NOTE? Talk about that dbs broly movie cuz yknow. That’s a hot topic of the ages that folk feel particularly really strongly about
ooooh ive been waiting for this one. We watched this together on discord so you know my general feelings but Im happy i got this ask lol.
putting this under read more cause it gets long
The new movie that everyone seems to love and adore.... that I dont. It was a pretty middle of the ground, meh overrated af movie. Not bad, just nothing special. I enjoyed watching it sure, but not something I have an inkling to return to anytime soon if ever. It was just ‘there’ for me.
First, I’ll say the good stuff. The visuals looked really pretty. Nobody was THAT out of character of the existing cast (save for the ending), which i feel weird to have to even mention it as a positive, but nothing really stood out to me as a defining moment for the little cast we had besides Goku’s “youre not a bad guy, i can tell” or w/e. SUPER SAIYAN 1 IS STILL GOAT. It looked soooo good in this movie i wish we couldve kept it the whole time instead of Blue. But i will say, Blue looked much better in this movie than the series. The darker-blue with the lighter blue eyes was a nice change from instead of the ugly bluish-green the series did. Also the aura looked better. Backgrounds like the ice area and even Planet Vegeta were amazing. Action was great too. little Bulla was cute. The OST i liked (the chanting really grew on me) and Blizzard is a banger i love that song. Oh and the aritisic license they took for the fusion scene with the reds and blues spiraling together was great
Anyway thats all the positives I have lmaoo
This film includes Minus and I already went in depth on why I hate Minus with a passion and why it’s the worst thing to come out of modern Dragon so yeah moving on. But the fact that they devoted screentime to Gokus backstory which ultimately served no purpose to the story of the film and couldve been used more valuably elsewhere.
I said the action was good, and it was, but it almost too good. At times it was so fast to tell that was going on and really lessened the impact for me. Like when they went into the other dimension or whatever, Gogeta went blue and Broly went LSSJ (idc if the name is different name, itll always be legendary SSJ to me lmao) so ast it was a blink and you miss it moment. like what? those moments shouldve been given even a little bit of focus.
Next the cast. Goku and Vegeta. AGAIN. snorefest. no Gohan, Piccolo is just there to show them the fusion, Goten and Trunks are still kids and look like babies (and Pilaf gang is with them which is another can of worms), no Android 17, who the series established as one of the top 4 fighters on Earth.
Do we get any of that? Nope. Just the two Blue and Bluer fucking again and again I. dont. care. anymore. Their dynamic is so boring and played out id rather watch paint dry. It was fun in Buu Saga, hell it was even fun in GT, but DBS constantly forcing this dynamic and Vegeta as the second Main Character needs to fucking STOOOP. Toei and Toriyama has no idea how to further Vegeta’s character because theyre stuck in this infinite loop.
Vegeta doesnt want to help Goku, he mentions Bulma and/or Trunks, Vegeta blushes, and then he decides to help. THAT HAPPENED LIKE SIX TIMES IN DBS ALONE. It happened in Buu saga as well, but it organically worked cause it was the first time but Bulma and Trunks were ALREADY DEAD/ABSORBED. The look on his face wasnt blushy or pouting for a gag, dude was legit shocked. I rag on Vegeta but he had some legit great moments in the early arcs and later parts of Buu Saga. Anyway im off track. They repeat that same exact character moment OVER AND OVER. cant tell you how many times we had “my Bulma, my bulla, my Trunks, my cabba” in the Tournament of Power alone, and this movie is no different.
DO SOMETHING ELSE FFS
Then we have Broly. ohhhhhh boooy Broly. if you can even call this version of him Broly. His backstory is kinda the same as original movie 8/Broly LSSJ, but its more tragic becuase according to most fans, if youre background is a sobstory, that equals better character. NO. sure it could, but that trope was so worn out so long ago I hate it. “waaa his life was bad, hes not a bad guy” bruh i dont care thats not Broly. just make an OC if you wanna do that. but nope. gotta use the marketing! (More on that later)
People like to criticize Z Broly as “he hates Goku cause he cried” or “all he says is Kakarot” which both are false. On the first point, Broly is a psychopath. He was stabbed as an infant and left to die along with Paragus cause he was too powerful. Then that same day Planet Vegeta explodes practically on top of them. The rest of his life hes basically either being controlled or on a rampage. So that one moment of peace is “ruined” by Goku in a sense cause he subconsciously associates that with Goku. On the second point, Broly was already mentally unstable and then nearly dying, getting caught in the explosion of a SECOND PLANET and then being frozen for seven years will fuck anyone up in the head. Z Broly in the original movie was sadistic af and he had a lot of memorable moments and lines that werent just screaming Kakarot, that Second Coming made him infamous for.
New Broly is legit a man-baby. People talk about old Broly having no personality and this new version having a deep character, but I dont see it. He acts like a child when hes with Cheelai and Lemo and then once the fighting starts he doesnt say a single word but yell. SOUND FAMILIAR?? But he gets a pass because the canon police says so right??? fuck off. New Broly is boring. Im tired of trying to make the Saiyans into ThEyRe noT aLl BaD sEe The SaIyAns ArE AcTuAlLy GoOd!!!11111 ugh i hate it. keep Broly a psycho and keep Bardock a prick. even that guy that went with Buzz Lightyear I mean Paragus was a sweet guy who couldnt fight because of course he was. At least they kept Paragus being a prick when he killed him. Tho his death was lame.
Cheelai’s overrated af. Shes just green bulma lmao. and the fact that they included the “big soft-spoken man gets mad and saves girl from drunk lowkey-rapey pervert” trope just had me roll my eyes like dude stop. Lemo was fine? Nothing against him but didnt do much for me either.
FUCK. FREEZA. i went over this one before too so ill be quick with this as well. I hate hate hate the fact that they brought him back not once but twice in DBS, but even worse that they left him alive to do whatever tf he wants including going back to mass murdering people and expanding his army again. Goku and Vegeta just LET HIM LIVE. Why tf did they go all out and attack Broly, but not Freeza? when one of them was fighting Broly th other easily could have taken out freeza but nope we need a token villain like Joker or Skeletor cause unoriginality. Even at the end, Gogeta does a full power blast to wipe Broly tf out, but when Freeza tries to kill Cheelai and Lemo (two innocent people, feelings on them aside) Gogeta basically just shakes his finger like nuh-uh! dont do that! and then he flies off. Just let this mfer die already im sick of seeing his ass. FUCK I HATE IT SO MUCH GFGFFGFGFGF
Lastly this movie is legitimately Dragon Ball Fanservice The Movie.
Gogeta vs Broly, which the games have been doing since fucking 2003, is the main point of this film. Theres no originality whatsoever. Minus is discount Father of Goku special, and then its a mashup of Broly LSSJ and Fusion Reborn (both of which are superior movies imo). This creatively banrkupt shell of a franchise cant think of anything new, so they legit remake an old movie, through in fusions because that sells like hotcakes, and make the animation pretty because thats all that matters.
Imo, this movie, like 99% of Super, is all flash and flair but no substance at all. At least this movie looked nice. unlike the show.
ok thats all i got lmao
kick your pretty feet up on my dash
Part 1 | Part 2
 -
Two days after the Instagram account opens, Sidney unofficially gets put on naming duty.
 The strawberry shortcake biscuit is named The Taylor.
 The cream cheese-stuffed banana muffins, crusted with dark chocolate ganache, is The Fleury.
 The slice of warm spiced peach cobbler (available for just two weeks), topped with a generous portion of thick, whipped cream and vanilla ice cream, is The Deidre.
 He shares the account password with her, but she seems more interested in digging up her mom’s old recipes from an ancient box filled with yellowed index cards than photographing.
 “I’ll leave that up to you,” she says, then passes him a card titled, ‘Cherry Layer Chocolate Cake.’ “I think I’ll make this for the holidays. What do you think?”
 Deidre makes just one and a half cakes for a trial run (the other half, which had come out lopsided, is sitting in the back of Sidney’s fridge). It’s another instant hit.
 Sidney watches a couple, two teenagers who are making it pretty painfully obvious that they’re on their first date, split a slice in a corner seat. She’s chasing the cherry around the plate with her fork, and he watching her like she hung the literal moon. He laughs a little too hard at her jokes, his eyes crinkling like Geno’s when he’s chirping Sidney. But with the way she’s beaming, it’s clear that she doesn’t mind at all.
 He’s not jealous—or, at least, he doesn’t think he’s jealous. Having hockey and having a boyfriend have always been mutually exclusive. But now, with no obligations to the NHL, he’s supposedly free to do everything that he’s wanted to. He doesn’t dwell too long on it though, because the last thing he needs is to have an existential spiral in Deidre’s store over whether or not he’s missed his his golden hour to be happy the exact minute the Penguins drafted him all those years ago.
 He finishes lettering the card for the cherry chocolate cake and slides ‘The Jack’ neatly into its proper holder.
-
Geno calls him on Thursday nights now, like clockwork. He’s grateful for the routineness of it, especially when he knows how much Geno lives on spontaneity. It’s always the same—updates on how the team is doing (good, the weather over in Pittsburgh (not so good), another dumb prank the rookies are trying to pull (hilarious, but slightly unoriginal with the shaving cream), even though it’ll never be as good as the ones Flower used to plan.
 “How are you?” Geno asks one night, while Sidney is puttering around the kitchen to figure out what he wants to make for dinner. “Your tomatoes grow?”
 “I think those are a goner,” Sidney grimaces. The entire plant had shriveled up weeks ago, despite Sidney faithfully watering them. “Guess I’ll just have to stick with the storebought ones.”
 Geno is silent for a bit. Then, “Is quiet in locker room without you.”
 Sidney pauses. “I doubt that’s true.” There’s plenty of rookies every year, eager to prove themselves on the ice and to establish themselves as a personality on the team. Besides, Sidney has never been the life of the party—that’s always been Geno himself.
 “No, is quieter.” Geno sounds like he’s swallowing a yawn. “Different without you.”
 Sidney’s heart flounders, and he has to blink a couple of times before his throat unclogs. “Maybe you should get to sleep. It’s pretty late over there.”
 “No, I’m not tired,” Geno mumbles, sounding very drowsy. Sidney can almost picture Geno, hair-mussed and sleepy eyes about to close as he curls up on his mattress. “Want to keep talking.”
 “I know you have practice tomorrow, G,” Sidney says. “You have the C now, you can’t get there two hours late anymore.”
 “I’m never late,” Geno huffs. “You too early.”
 “Get some rest,” Sidney says gently. “I’ll still be here next week, same as usual.”
 “Maybe I call tomorrow.’
 “I won’t go anywhere.”
 “Wish you still here, Sid,” he murmurs. “Miss you so bad, some days.”
 Sidney doesn’t miss a beat. “I miss you, too,” he whispers, because any louder and he knows his voice will crack. “I’ll be here tomorrow. And the day after, if you still want to call.”
 “Okay,” Geno says. “Okay.”
 -
 Sidney’s restocking the brioche rolls when Deidre’s voice casually pipes up from the coffee machine, “You have a secret admirer, you know.”
 “I know. It’s Samantha. PTA President,” Sidney says, trying to not sound exasperated. He only knows her name and title because she must’ve giggled it at him as a greeting every single time she’s marched in. “She asked me what the main ingredient was in the banana muffins and I told her banana like, three times.”
 “She just likes to hear you say banana. And no, it’s not Sam.” Deidre makes a come hither motion with her hands and slides a napkin towards Sidney. “Yesterday afternoon, there was a young man, maybe around his 30s, who stopped by for a latte and he asked where you were.”
 “Oh.” There’s something he can’t name fluttering in his stomach. The words on the napkin scrawled out, Jeremy, and a string of numbers. “What did you say?”
 “I told him, ‘He’s a cute one, isn’t he? He’s the store eye candy, bringing in all the sales.’”
 “Dee, you didn’t.”
 “I did, and he went full red. It was adorable. And I told him that you pop in in the mornings and in the afternoon to help with opening and closing.” She leans forward, grinning. “I’m just saying, think about it.”
 He thinks about it.
 At night, he tells Geno, “I think I have a secret admirer. Or a stalker.”
 Geno’s voice suddenly becomes infinitely more awake. “Have what? Someone stand outside your house? I read about this before, you need call police.”
 “No, it was at the bakery. I got his number on a napkin. Well, the owner gave me his name on a napkin, so I don’t really know what he looks like. He could be 100. People in this town are usually…around that age range.”
 Geno still sounds perplexed. “So say no.”
 “What?”
 “Say sorry, only go on dates with girls. But thank you.”
 Sidney’s brain feels like it’s stuttering to a pause. “Geno, what the fuck?”
 “What?”
 “I don’t ‘only go on dates with girls.’ I—” Well, to be quite fair, he hasn’t gone on any dates at all. “You know this.”
 It takes a full ten seconds for Geno to crackled back to life on the line again. His voice is hesitant. “You only bring girls to events. Like Halloween, or—”
 “They’re my friends, I’ve told you. I’m not going to bring a guy in front of you guys,” he exclaims, then reigns in his voice. His heart is beating like a jackhammer boring straight through. “Hey, listen, I have a pretty early day tomorrow, I’ll talk to you next week, okay?”
 “Sid, wait—”
 He hangs up and puts his phone face down on the nightstand. It’s not his proudest moment.
 -
 I’m sorry(((, the text reads. The timestamp indicates that the message had been sent at 2 AM. You should go on a date with secret guy. Maybe he’s secret Ryan Reynolds.
 Geno’s texts are never longer than five words, usually cryptic versions of a yes or no, accompanied by eyeless smilies. Sidney wonders if he’d been painstakingly worrying over each word since Sidney hastily ended the conversation.
 I don’t think he’s Ryan Reynolds, Sidney sends back. Besides, no one in this town knows hockey. That’s gonna be a problem.
 Geno’s reply is instantaneous, as if he’d been waiting.
 Picky)))))
More messages follow in quick succession, before Sidney can even start typing.
But always best for u. Deserve the best only.
 He laces up his shoes and heads to Dee’s.
 -
 It snows a little mid-December.
 He helps Deidre with the decorations, hanging up tinsel and little snowflake cutouts on the window. She has a box of Christmas lights stored away in a dusty box from the attic, which definitely looks like they haven’t been disturbed since the 80s, but the one of the bulbs dies with a sad fizz the moment Sidney plugs it in. So they have to make do with the other nonflammable options.
 The store looks nice. ‘Well-loved’ is a better word for it, with its mismatched decorations and ancient garlands. He snaps a photo of the mini tree on the counter for Instagram before he goes to help Deidre frost the rest of the ornament-shaped sugar cookies.
 There’s commotion on the streets from all the tourists and families coming back for the holidays. He thinks about flying to Nova Scotia for the holidays, but then he realizes that none of Deidre’s children will be coming to Cardwell Point.
 “They’re busy,” she shrugs indifferently, but she turns her back to Sidney as she busies herself with rearranging the shelfs. “It’s alright. That’s what Skype is for, right? Besides, I have to watch the store.”
 He thinks about Geno, who’s probably headed to Florida soon to escape the onslaught of winter chill that he absolutely abhors, no matter how much he loves the city. He could Skype Geno, or Facetime him. Except Geno would always have the angle wrong, and Sidney’s sure he’d just get an on-brand mugshot of Geno’s nostril from the bottom up for the whole conversation.
He did ask Sidney if he wanted to go to Florida, except the way he had asked had felt like a given tagged with a question mark at the end (Florida w me this year?). Nonetheless, Sidney had been tempted.
 But he also wonders if he’d feel even more homesick when Geno is physically standing in front of him again, all tall and loud and too big, too much, too many years of his unrequited love staring at him and making Sidney think that he has a chance. He doesn’t want to go to Florida to watch Geno pick up strangers at a club.
 “I’m not going anywhere, either,” he tells her.
 She looks over, finally, pursing her lips like she’s trying to hold back her smile.
 @DeesBakeryandCafe
Season’s greetings and a happy New Year to our wonderful customers and families here in Cardwell Point. Hope everyone is spending time with their loved ones this holiday season.
-
 Winter refuses to go. The clouds hang over the streets stubbornly, and each days trudges on like it’s dragging its feet.
 He misses skating.
 He misses Geno. Especially as it gets closer to February and teenagers and adults alike start coming to the shop in twos, their gloved hands clasped together as they squeeze through Dee’s tiny corridor when it’s really much easier to be in a single-file line.
 He’s not jealous. He is not.
 But he is lonely. And really fucking cold.
 He serves up at least thirty slices of The Jack, which is apparently the most popular item these days thanks to Instagram. Deidre switches up the decoration, so the cherry-glazed design in the middle forms a big, gaudy heart. The Internet completely eats up. Sidney doesn’t understand it.
 “It’s like a Titanic reference, right?” a customer asks, as he picks up the cake for his wife. “Like, an ‘I’ll never let you go,’ kind of thing. Jack and Rose?”
 “Sure,” Sidney says. It’s really for his first childhood crush, but he can work with the Titanic.
 The moment Deidre fills her last custom order of The Jack (and there had been plenty of those, for anniversaries to birthdays to just becauses), she tells Sidney that she’s figured out how to make her mother’s cheesecake.
 “Finally worked out how to stop the goddamn filling from clotting,” she says, cutting him a slice. The cake has a brownie bottom, and the inside is perfectly creamy and smooth and dotted with dark chocolate chips. “What do you think?”
 “I’m biased,” Sidney says, trying to not scarf down the whole thing like an animal. “I love cheesecakes. This one is my favorite so far.”
 “Good,” she tells him. “You can name this one, then.”
 His fork stops mid-air. “Weren’t you going to call it ‘The Lily’?”
 She pats his arm affectionately, not unlike the day she did when Sidney told her why he ended up at Cardwell Point. “I figured she wouldn’t mind. This can be our second February special. God, I’m sick of The Jack.”
 The next week, Sidney carefully slides The Geno in its display cabinet.
 (Deidre doesn’t ask about the peculiar name. She never does, and Sidney is grateful.)
 After over a decade in the NHL, he’s well aware of what he can and can’t have. But lately he’s been feeling selfish. He snaps a photo of the cheesecake and sends it to Deidre.
It’s a good photo.
-
 “I got invited to a neighborhood potluck yesterday,” Sidney mumbles into the receiver, when Flower asks him how retirement is treating him. “I don’t know what to bring. Maybe I’ll bring something from the bakery.”
 “Do you officially work at the bakery or are you just there because the owner is blackmailing you? Does she know who you are?”
 “I just help out when I can. And no, I told you, it’s not a hockey town. They do have competitive knitting here. It’s a thing.” Sidney doesn’t have much to do these days, aside from working out and catching up on reading, which means that he does end up doing most of the latter in the café. Maybe he should take up competitive knitting. “I started an Instagram for her shop. We just hit 200 followers.”
 “You know how to do that?” Flower asks, because he’s a little shit. “I’m kidding, I know you’re not actually a senior citizen.”
 Sidney rolls his eyes. “I haven’t checked it in a while though. I let Deidre handle the posting now. It’s her shop, anyways.”
 “What’s the handle?”
 He tells him. Flower is quiet for a bit as he searches through the page. “Pretty cool, eh?”
 “Yeah,” Flower says, his voice slightly off. “Yeah, it’s—it’s good. Looks like the real deal.”
 “What’s that supposed to mean? Of course it’s the real deal.”
 Flower makes a noncommittal noise. “Nothing. Cheesecake looks good. Does Geno know?”
 “No,” Sidney says. “I mentioned the bakery once or twice. He didn’t ask. Not, uh—not after I told him about Jeremy.”
 “Secret napkin man?” Flower remembers. “You didn’t go on that date?”
 “No, I didn’t go on a date with ‘secret napkin man,’” he mimics. “I don’t think he’d care.”
 “I think he’d care.” Flower always sounds so sure when he wants to be serious, and it’s one of the things Sidney missed most when he left for Vegas—there’d been a metaphorical hollow within the team for a good few months following his departure, and that void never quite got replaced no matter what.
 “Maybe.”
 Sidney can only hope. But he’s a little too old for hoping these days.
 -
 Foot traffic is slower when they hit March, but Deidre promises that it’ll pick up when Cardwell Point’s 11th Annual Theater Festival starts in the middle of the month, because that’s apparently the other big thing aside from the 4th of July Carnival Bash. Sidney has just packed up another dozen of red velvet cupcakes for Samantha the PTA Queen when the front bell jingles.
 “Hello? I’m look for—”
 Sidney heart leaps to his throat.
 “Sid,” Geno says softly. He looks like the wind knocked him in (it probably had), mismatched Frakenshirts and all. “Hi, Sid.”
 Samantha may as well not have even walked into the store at all.
 “How are—“ He must be imagining things. But Geno takes another step, until he’s right in front of the counter and Sidney can reach out and touch just how real he is. He hasn’t changed much--still the same eyes, the same nose and lips, and maybe his hair is a bit thinner but he still makes Sidney’s chest feel too small and too big all at once. “Where did you—how are you here?”
 “Fly,” Geno says sheepishly. “Wanted to see you.”
 “What about—”
 “No games until Friday.” He’s staring at Sidney like he’s looking his fill and he can’t get enough. “I—I see your post, and I just—buy ticket.”
 “What post?”
 Geno pulls out his phone and flips through it until he lands at a familiar Instagram account. He passes it over to Sidney, his hands warm as it brushes against Sidney’s fingers.
 @DeesBakeryCafe
‘I love you’ tastes a lot like our chocolate chip cheesecake, The Geno.
 “Oh,” Sidney breathes. “Oh.”
Concepts/Stories of the AUs
About time I did this! (Does anyone even still remember these?) Hello, this are the basic concepts/summaries of my Creepypasta AUs (so far only those I have shown in the comic), to give you a bit more information. However some I might not tell a lot as to not to spoil too much, though I probably will and some don't have a coherent story as of now. I'm not sure if I will add the others soon or make a new journal for it. If you don't know what I'm even talking about: Here's a link to the comic, showing them all so far:
https://drownedsilverislove.tumblr.com/post/177442578039/drownedsilverislove-drownedsilverislove-it
Now to the "important part". I'll go in the same order as the comic:
1. OT Au
This one... honestly already can't say a whole lot Basically the start is that somewhat of a "war" or something is going on... Yeah, weird, I know. Basically the Pokepastas I usually draw, ergo Silver, Steven, Glitchy are all apart of an organization mostly dedicated to help actually and rather not wanting to get involved until they look for "people" that might need help and have made it out. On a "cartridge graveyard" seem to be such signs, which is confusing at first, since... well, usually still "living" people don't stay there. I'm pretty sure you already know who it is and I don't wanna tell more for now.
2. Human/Superhero Au
This one are "two" technically so:
A. Human: It's just they're human or they were both humans at one point, it's more designs than AUs, really. B. As the name says, basically four high school kids become "superheroes", willing to protect the world, except   it's apparently only their city really. Honestly almost feels more like a "Magical Girl" series... except with boys... And not really the cute outifts, maybe.
3. Simulation AU
This AU plays somewhat "far" in the future, more of a Dystopian setting as "Silver"(That's his name in the simulation, real name unkown so far) is one of the rather low class living in dirt and trash and not THAT great while the higher classes are allowed to live in an actual city which is always described as paradise as they all "hail" to their leaders and the higher class and the "Tree of given life" to apreciate their lifes no matter what. However a way to get in the higher classes is by becoming part of a simulation having multiple levels. You also get a handy AI on your way to help you out.
4. God"like" AU
Once there were beliefs in many gods all standing for something, but the beliefs in that mythology died over the years until present day in the story. Turns out they're actually true, just most disapperead from being forgotten or were banished. If a human was deemed worthy and manages to free a god, they're granted one wish without limitations(Except granting more wishes). That kinda happened to Seth(Silver, his human names are usually Seth or Hibiki), except he made the mistake of not thinking all through with his wish and now has a god staying by him and "serving" him until the end of his life. ...Only that god is pretty arrogant.
5. Blind AU
Silver can't really feel anymore thanks to giving his soul. To whom? ...*shrugs*. He just couldn't take it all anymore and was granted freedom for it so he accepted, except he regrets it now and meets a rather helpless blind boy, who also happens to seemingly be homeless at the moment. Lets him stay with him for a while. But does he actually start to care again?
6. Horror/"Edgy" AU
As the title says, this is just to fuel my edgy mind even more than most of the others, basically its all about survival and who to trust, etc. Actually Ben and Silver are NOT the main characters in this as the comic may suggest, they still play a part like most characters though. (Also please note that most or probably all relationships in this AU are indeed not meant to be healthy and are screwed up. Once they all are explained or come to light.) 7. Two Worlds AU
Ben does definitely NOT have a good life in this... In most not, to be honest, I'm a sadistic person to them, but anyways he really can't stand it all anymore, especially being all alone in this. No friends, his family seemingly not caring in the slightest, he can't even rely on himself, giving what he often feels and thinks. Then one day he finds a strange game, not being a lot of fun, but better to get your mind off stuff with it than doing nothing. At night when he goes to bed he starts dreaming of a weird place until one night he finds a barrier, as well as the character of the game behind it. Perplexed, but interested, they start talking, no matter if these are dreams or not. Maybe that was the friend or support Ben has needed for so long...
8. Player/"Sinning cause I'm a horrible human being" AU
It's... uh... Oh jeez, I kinda regret introducing this AU, but at the same time I don't xD
Basically once more, Silver can't stand where he's trapped from the loneliness (Jeez, Silver, stop throwing your soul away and all that), so a spirit is willing to help, posesses him and then he... kinda becomes really open about certain things... And yeah, Ben comes to him one day, first just asking for shelter or whatever, not fully figured out ;<; and then is kinda "forced" to stay, not by Silver mind you, but by the place, however accepts and honestly doesn't mind after a short while anymore, really. He's just a Tsundere in this (especially).
9. Pirate's AU:
Silver is a captain of a ship with a nice crew and has gathered many treasures in the years, but looks for a new challenge. He hears from a storyteller in a pub about an island, being protected by a cursed soul or ghost, but through it you'd find a really nice treasure. Silver then gets ready, thinking the ghost thing is just a hoax, after a storm he and his crew get stranded, though surprisingly still alive. And they find out some of the secrets, while the captain himself meets the "ghost", finding out the whole true story of it.
10. "Hospital" AU
Seth gets brought to a hospital, after a terrible accident, involving his mother and sister as well, caring about illnesses, traumas, mental problems, physical problems, etc. despite it not fully being accepted by the government. They also have an adoption system, since most "children" in there were brough because they're homeless or lost family in accidents or similiar. There he meets a few people, especially his roommate Ben, who has been there for most of his life now, not allowed to leave and soon not even being able to be adopted anymore in just a year.
11. "The AU which was supposed to be a Shojo parody but turned into more for some reason" AU
The title is self-explainitory, really. Basically it takes place in a "university", though not required to go to, you can. But then you stay there for a while. Basically Ben moved there with his "parent", hoping for a new start but that doesn't come as quickly. Until he becomes more interested in a student that often seems to miss or even skip the lessons, but still gets talked about, then he one day comes back to school and they can actually meet soon then.
12. Demon AU
Seth has gotten a book about "summoning demons" from his "friends" as a joke, since his clothing style and interests seem to match up. He didn't think of it as super funny though and just let it dust away in his shelves. One day he got bored, tried it and now he has a demon roommate! ...That actually doesn't really act as a "demon"... nor looks like one.
Yeah, most of them are cheesy and unoriginal, I know... Also I feel like I still spoiled way too much about most of these...I still think about doing a second part, since there still are a lot more, but for now, it will be only these.
Hope you enjoyed this or thought it was interesting! I'll always appreciate support and interest for these ^^
Design Choices
Since people were asking, I’ll just add it on here. Keeps the posts clean and less annoying to scroll through
On the topic of yandere simulator, can we talk about how god awful they are. I’m not even talking about the sailor uniform, those are temporary and will be replaced, but the direction yandere dev is heading with the uniforms is utterly appalling ( Link ). Everytime he puts it on a video, I have to cringe because it looks like the uniform for an anime about the US Postal Service. So I decided to make my own uniform. I’m gonna explain all my design choices and such below.
Part 1 Part 2
Because Akademi is supposed to be a prestigious school, I made two versions of the school uniform: One for summer (right) and one for winter (left). I took inspiration with what Yandere Dev has wanted for his uniforms (a highwaisted skirt with overalls) and applied it to the summer design for the female students. I put the school’s insignia on the front of the skirt and on the tie for the male student. The female uniform also comes with a petticoat underneath partially for warmth and partially cause I think it looks nice and adds more customization . I also made a version of the gym uniform, because the official game should come with a newly designed one and not the booty shorts and T-shirt we have. Plus it would be nice if the sports club constantly wore the gym sweater instead of the school’s blazer since it’s more comfortable and it would be easy to identify from afar (and wouldn’t be the goggles which I don’t understand the purpose of in a sports club aside from swimming, which those goggles are really uncomfortable to have on but nvm).
Another cosmetic thing I distaste about the game, the club accessories. They are... really ugly. Having a game pad or bass clef glued to your head is just awful looking. So I took it upon myself to redesign all of them. At first I was just trying to add accessories to Ayano, but that became really boring and I ended up right where I started, the accessories looking plastered on and unnatural. That’s when I started changing up her hair to better reflect the club she is in. Ayano is supposed to be a cunning killer, someone who blends in as a normal school girl. Hair is one of the places where you can really express yourself. So why not blend the two ideas together, just like with the personas in the Drama Club. In different clubs, Ayano should slightly change her appearance to better fit in with the club’s aesthetic. I mean it’s hard to believe a normal looking person would join the occult club when they all look like this. It’s a stark difference, and it just looks off. So with each club, I made an effort to better integrate Ayano.
No Club: Yandere Dev has stated that Ayano’s haircut needs to be slightly changed before the game comes out in order to not use storebought assets, so I just have her a higher shorter ponytail with an easy to recognize silhouette. Ayano’s updo will follow into the rest of her club designs to distinguish her.
Cooking Club: The cooking club’s bonus is to help raise reputation. Following with Amai’s sweet nature, I thought Ayano would’s design would be more rounded and friendly so I gave her a bun. and made her hair curved inwards.
Drama Club: Yandere Dev explained in “The Curious Case of Kokona Haruka”, the Drama Club will probably have a hierarchy of curled hair. Because Ayano joins the Drama Club, she should abide by this hierarchy and curl her hair too. Plus roses for the extra effect.
Sports Club: I didn’t have lots of ideas for this one, but I gave Ayano a braid so her hair because less of a hindrance when she participates in activities. But I certainly hate the goggles you get when you join the sports club, so I gave her shades instead. It makes more sense to wear so the sun doesn’t get in your eyes, rather than you might jump in the pool at any second. Plus the sweatbands can relate to Asu Rito when she arrives.
Occult Club: All the occult club members cover one eye in one way or another, and a good portion have messy hair, why not make Ayano do the same thing.
Gardening Club: The random flower sorta bothered me. Not that it’s inherently bad, it just weird looking and contrasts Ayano’s design in my opinion. So I put her hair down to better reflect the calm and relaxed demeanor in the club.
Light Music Club: Since Miyuji has a punk rock aesthetic in her club, why not show that in Ayano. It’s certainly better than glueing a Bass Cleff to your head.
Martial Arts Club: A braid is easier to have when you’re constantly moving and sweating. Plus it can serve as a reference to an anime I’ve never even watched.
Photography Club: I really wanted to make another scooby doo reference and have Ayano’s hair reflect one of the hex girls, but having her hair down didn’t match the rest of the Ayano’s design for the rest of the clubs unfortunately. So I just have her a chill bun and ponytail to make her look fun-loving and cool.
Art club: It’s unfortunate that the art club doesn’t have a set look other than Geiju cause I didn’t really know what to do. But I gave her cat buns in order to show that she is a creative and unique person, who would probably fit right into the art club. Also the beret is sorta a weird addition, cause no artist would ever wear that, so I just put a pencil and brush behind her ear instead cause at least that makes sense. I actually like Geiju with a beret though, don’t take that away from me. If he’s the only one wearing one, it would just be funny because maybe he’s trying to get into the mindset of the old masters by wearing one. I love that boy.
Gaming Club: This one was sorta hard. I hate the game pad, and I’ve heard of others suggesting headphones instead, which is a much better idea. So I gave her headphones. Because the gaming club is sorta a childish club, I gave her pigtails with berets resembling the buttons on a ps4 controller. For the rest of the gaming club though, instead of the blazer, I would give them a hoodie and headphones to better sell the “I spend all my time playing video games” idea in addition to it being more comfortable, which I think they would appreciate.
Science Club: It’s sorta ridiculous that all the science club wears the DBZ eyepiece, but that’s sorta the point and charm of them, so I wouldn’t change that. The idea that either they all love DMZ, or that Kaga loves DBZ so much that he forced the other members to wear an eyepiece too is amazing. I just gave her a neat bun, straight on her head to give her an unsettling, artificial look. (By making it symmetrical you know?)
-
It’s important not only cosmetically, but to the gameplay to have good silhouettes for important people. You need to know who’s around you as quickly as possible. There shouldn’t be idle time trying to figure out if there’s a bully, regular student, delinquent, or student council member down that hallway when Osana is ripe for the killing. Rivals should also have unique silhouettes and clothes to distinguish them from regular students.
For Bullies, I know that they modify their skirts to be shorter than they’re supposed to be. So I turned that idea up to eleven to make a super short skirt with a tutu like petticoat underneath. The bullies put a large amount of frills under their skirts because they want to look unique and flashy. I also know that they are inspired by gyarus so I put some of what I found with the leopard print, and furry legwarmers. Also gave them those large earrings to really sell how much they care about their appearance. For each bully, they could also have either a different undershirt or different color leopard print. They also have a summer and winter version .
For Delinquents: I didn’t have much to comment on with their deigns. My version wouldn’t be much different, just instead giving them my blazer instead of the one present in the game. Maybe for the summer uniform they could have one strap off to show that they are really bad to the bone.
For Student Council: I thought they should have a military themed uniform. What they wear should be very distinguishable from regular students because as yandere dev explained, you shouldn’t be walking around, commit a crime then get mad because a student was around that you didn’t know was part of the student council and you get an instant game over. But their uniform should also not be very modified because they stick to the rules. They should not have a summer and winter version because you shouldn’t have to relearn what the student council looks like. They are a very important group in the game, and as such should be consistent.  The student council uniform in the game isn’t bad (it’s grown on me) but it’s still not very good. It serves it’s purpose, which is all it needs right now, but has no relevance to the rest of the school. I gave them something to put over their school assigned skirt. This gives them a clear silhouette by shear contrast, while also reaffirming the military theme I wanted.
For Rivals: I really wanted to make a summer and winter version of the uniforms, cause that’s how schools function. So by doing this, the first five rivals have summer uniforms, to introduce the game as more lively and “it’s summer, everything is great and nothing can go wrong. The prime time for romance” but as the game progresses it gets colder as the atmosphere drops. The game gets harder, and it’s reflected in the weather. By the time Megami shows up, it’s the dead of winter. It’s good symbolism.
Osana: I know alot of people draw her with an orange sweater, and since I am unoriginal and I like the idea I drew her with it too. It’s cute and offsets her mean outer shell and shows she is really a soft sweet person on the inside. Can you imagine senpai teasing her for wearing a sweater in the middle of summer, and she just responds with “Shut up, I need it for my cold heart”.
Amai: I don’t think Amai is the type to really change her uniform all that much. No one really gets dressed to cook, and I think giving her a sweater would limit her in the kitchen. So instead I just made her design more round because round = nice and friendly in design. She might alter her sleeves just to be cute though.  If I had to, maybe outside of the kitchen I would give her a shawl.
Kizana: I agree with the idea that Kizana should change her hair every day of the week. Her differing silhouette would make her harder to identify and a harder rival to eliminate. I feel like she would change her uniform as much as possible without breaking the dress code, and would even be the type to look out for loopholes in the dress code itself to use it to her advantage (seriously she should be a later rival, at least 5th because I feel like she is way smarter than Oka and Asu). She hitches up the side of her dress and pins it up to reveal her petticoat for a dramatic, stylish look. On top of wearing the cravat assigned to the drama club and a red lace blazer to sell how refined she is and red being a passionate color. Her skirt is also bell shaped to exaggerate her hips, which makes her look more sassy. (Please Yandev don’t cake my queen’s face with makeup in the final game)
Oka: I feel like she would want to cover up as much as possible. Instead of giving her a big jacket though, I wanted to make her more sleek as a bulky oufit does not reflect her personality. Oka is really petite and feels small and shy, so that should be reflected in her outfit. So I made her skirt thinner, longer and narrow towards the bottom. I also gave her gothic elements with the corset, lace and skirt opening at the bottom, as well as a grayer petticoat underneath, because she is into all those sorta things. The sleeves she’s wearing is not just random sleeves, it’s part of a jacket that’s longer in the back.
Asu: I didn’t have much ideas here. I think Asu Rito has a fine design just like all the rivals, and since she is much more casual I doubt she’s wear a jacket over her school clothes. I think the school would allow her to wear a T-shirt with Kyoshi’s insistence. She wouldn’t wear a petticoat because there’s no point, she doesn’t get cold and doesn’t need it for any kind of fashion She’s all utility baby. It would differentiate her more easily though if the rest of the sports club wore their gym uniforms, whereas she tied the jacket around her waist.
(I didn’t bother with Mina and Muja cause it has nothing to do with uniforms and they are a whole can of worms on their own. Muja is the first rival of the winter season though, and starting off the season with an adult is very telling about the difficulty spike)
Osoro: She needed to look grungy and beat up. So I tore up her skirt and petticoat (she needs it for the warmth). She opens up her jacket and undoes her bow. Still always sporting the male rival school uniform. If I wanted to put more thought, now that I think about it I may have changed the rival school’s male uniform to male it look more brash and threatening on Osoro, as well as rolling up her sleeves. It would be kinda cool if her ribbon was replaced with something more durable that the school wouldn’t notice (just reinforced in some way) so that she could use it as a versatile weapon.
Hanako: I didn’t have much to say here, but it’s terrible how the winter and summer uniforms were cemented in my head once I saw this outfit and knew I wanted Hanako to wear it. It doesn’t make any sense for Hanako to wear Akademi’s uniform so even in the final game yandere dev would need a new middle school uniform to give her (unless the player chooses the sailor outfit for everyone). But since dev has already stated Hanako could come to school during a school festival, it would be nice if she wore something cute and festive for winter. Especially if she’s just at school to have fun with her brother. Also I know it’s not official but giving Hanako bunny stockings would be really adorable.
Megami: Megami should wear the student council uniform. But it was hard to alter an alter. So Megami’s skirt is slightly longer than the usual uniform skirt. I’m not sure about the scarf, I just thought she would be more threatening with it on and it reinforces the cold weather motif.
Overall there are small details you can add like rings and stuff but my drawings were really simple so I didn’t add any in, just overall if I was designing their uniforms, this is how I would make them look.
Their love shouldn't have been so intense. Niall shouldn't have been able to bring her to her knees like this. Niall wasn't quite sure what he did to deserve her but there's nothing in the world he wouldn't do for her.
flashback to where it all started, Soren or Ren for short was 26. she was a journalist at The Rolling stone- in fact the youngest yet. she was incredibly proud of where she was and she definitely didn't take it for granted.
Ren prided herself in capturing the real essence of what music should be. She covered the section on Music reviews- Ren's Review. the name alone made her sick but it's what made her money.
Ren, however hated phonies, and that was exactly what Niall was. the music industry grew up without him. it was now 2017 and he was still whining about a girl that so clearly broke his heart. how many times could one person write about it? it worked for the classics but as Niall overused the same four chords and same sad lyrics, Ren thought her head would explode.
It wasn't anything personal- except for the fact that he was a complete douche to his fans and barely gave anyone an ounce of respect- also, he refused an interview with her. refused. Ren was both annoyed and angry and feeling lots of resentment towards the male race when she wrote the article. did she mean everything she said? of bloody course she did. would she take it back? absolutely not.
when Niall’s management called her, Ren was already not in the mood. Niall was washed up, plain and simple. as if her opinion changed the worlds opinion of him? probably not but he was whiny anyways. she'd even sent an early copy before publishing it.
With unbridled ambition and stubbornness, Ren agreed to meet with some people on the behalf of Niall. Ren internally scoffed because if he was so upset why couldn't he meet with her instead.
"hello, i'm Janice," the woman introduced herself. "i'm the media head. this is Dane, Mr. Horan’s image consultant."
"nice to meet you both," she smiled, shaking their hands. they sat down at the table and ordered drinks.
"so i've heard Mr. Horan has an issue with the article i've written?" Ren asked, glazing over the menu.
"yes we were actually hoping you could make a few changes," Janice said. "just so it doesn't totally ruin his career."
"look," Ren closed her menu. "it's the truth. I guess it's not blatantly clear but then again your management team has yet to master what promo really means. Niall’s image, as hard as you've tried to preserve it, has gone to shite. until his music is real and meaningful, my opinion won't be changed and i will still publish the article."
"is there any price?" Dane asked, pulling his check book out. "you name it and-"
"save it Dale," she picked her menu up. "i'm thinking about the steak, what about you?"
"oh-uh it's Dane actually," he replied meekly.
"right," she nodded, looking him up and down.
Niall was livid. he read the article. he reread it, even. everything was a lie. Anger coursed through him the more he read the word.
washed up pop star
the same three chords used over & over again
unoriginal lyrics derived from horrible writers
how long can he use the same worn down archetypes without people noticing?
does he even care about his fans who have done nothing but support him through thick and thin times?
Niall was already on the phone with Janice as he went out the door. He headed straight to the main office ready to tear this Soren Maude a new one.
Janice advised him to keep calm, to let it blow over except he was insulted and pissed off. Soren had absolutely no right to criticize him when he didn't even know the half of it.
Niall marched right into the office of Rolling stone ready to butt heads with someone.
"i need to speak with a Soren Maude, please," he demanded, arms crossed over his face.
"I'm sorry Soren isn't available right now," the receptionist said. he looked right past Niall as if he didn't even exist.
"i need to speak to him now," Niall insisted.
exasperated, he sighed. the bloke picked up the phone. "Ren, Niall Horan is here to see you. he won't go away."
the receptionist hung up the phone and went back to his computer. impatient was what Niall was.
"so?" he asked, getting angrier by the second.
"so you better lose your attitude real quick," he looked up at Niall. "Ren will knock ya head off. first second on the left."
Niall shook his head and grunted. he couldn't wait to meet this Soren. He sauntered down the hall with everything he had to say on the the tip of his tongue.
"I need to speak with a Soren Maude," Noah said as he approached the open door.
"that's me," a small brunette with glasses said. she only came up to niall's nose and well, how could he yell at her? "can i help you with something?"
"i uh- um yes," he faltered. "you- you wrote that article about me?"
"yeah," she nodded. "is there a problem?"
"yeah," he nodded, eyebrows furrowed. "what's wrong is that it's complete slander!"
"it's not slander if it's true," she closed a folder in front of her. "and everything i wrote was true. your lyrics are weak. they're overused and repetitive. four albums with the same thing over and over again. your fans are disappointed, Niall."
"you have no right!" he exclaimed. "you don't know anything about my fans!"
"I did research before publishing it," she stood up. "I talked to your fans. i talked to music majors. do you know what makes song great?"
"relatableness and a good hook- my songs have great hooks!"
"no Niall," she closed her door. "a good song makes you feel, it makes you think- you can see yourself in a good song."
"and what makes you so qualified?" Niall asked, eyebrow raised.
"i went to school for this," she looked him up and down. "are you trying to discredit my credentials to make yourself feel better?"
"well I just don't see how someone like you gets to decide what's good and bad," he crossed his arms over his chest.
"someone like me?" she asked. "like a young woman?" she asked. "like my opinion is invalid- tell me, Niall. if this Soren you came looking for was in fact a dude how would you react? very different i presume."
"no that's- that's not true," he stuttered, taking a step back.
"like hell it isn't," she leaned on her desk. "besides you don't even write your own songs anymore so why is it such a big deal? i know it isn't your fault. your team is sticking you with the same image you've been with since you were eighteen but the least you could do is put a little heart into it. put real feelings, emotions. songs are supposed to be relatable but not so much that every song sounds like a boring top forties."
"it's not as easy as you think," he turned away. "it's not like you know anything about the industry anyways. thanks for the bloody great review, i really appreciate it".
"Niall-"
Niall shook his head, heading for the door, slamming the door behind him. the worst part was that everything she said, Niall knew was true.
As Niall mulled over Ren's so boisterous opinion, he found that accepting it was harder than he originally thought.
Niall came to his conclusion a week later. he cried a bit, got angry, got proper pissed drunk and then his mind was clear and made up. he needed to see her.
This time, Niall waited patiently for Ren to return from her lunch break. she came walking in with a tall brown haired lad. they looked awfully close and somewhere deep within Niall, he felt jealous.
"Niall... hi," she greeted here. "who are you here to see?"
"uh you, actually," he stood up. "i was hoping we could talk."
"yeah sure," she nodded. "i actually have some running to do for my boss. want to come?"
"uh i guess," he nodded, a little confused.
"great," she smiled. "let me get my coat."
Ren returned a few minutes later carrying a box. she handed it to Niall and took a bag from the receptionist, who Niall learned was named Jamie.
"let's go," she told him, already waiting for him in the elevator.
Niall noticed how fast Ren was. she was always moving so fast, Niall almost couldn't keep up. almost. he was taken aback by it. she was like a flurry of brown curls and papers. she was a hurricane, personified.
"where are we going?" Niall asked, getting into the passenger seat. he was mildly impressed by the Mercedes she drove.
"we need to go to the post office to drop that box off- bloody Tomlinson can't meet deadlines to save his arse- there's people to do this you know?" she shook her head. "sorry that's off topic- you wanted to talk?"
"right yeah," he nodded, sitting up. "so i wanted to talk about the article you wrote."
"look Niall i won't unpublished it or change it or make a statement," she sigh exasperated. "i meant it and i just refuse to take it back."
"no i know i don't- i don't want you too," he shook his head. "i wanted to talk to you about how i could write better songs? like tips i guess?"
"my opinion shouldn't change what you think about yourself," she furrowed her eyebrows.
"i know it doesn't but like i've been feeling this way for a while, you know? like i've been in this mental block- my music is nothing i'd ever listen to. it's cringy. i want to write meaningful music."
"you don't have substance," she told him. the car pulled to a stop. "you need feelings, emotions. take a word and run with it. brain storm. really dig deep. your biggest fears. a feeling you've had. something that is real- i cant stress that enough. stop singing about the girl you couldn't get and start singing about the way that girl makes you feel. like gut wrenching heart break or love so deep it'll bring tears to your eyes."
Niall nodded, "i think i know what you mean."
"get with some good writers," she encouraged him. "like Julian. he's sick to work in the studio with. he's a friend. i'll ask him about you. don't be afraid to be vulnerable, yeah?"
"okay," Niall nodded. "i'll try.“
hey it's Niall.. i had some lyrics i wanted to run by you, if you're willing?
Ren bit her lip, setting her phone down on the table. did she really wanna get into this?
come by my office around two Ren wrote back hesitantly. she clicked send and held her breath.
"so what are we going for?" Ren asked, sitting up.
"dunno," he chuckled, scratching his neck nervously. "i just wrote down some things."
'Lips so good i forget my name. i swear i could give you everything.'
'i don't need my love baby you can take it. you can break it...'
"i didn't quite finish that thought though," he pointed at the last one.
"s'good," she nodded.
'if tomorrow won't be mine, baby won't you give it to me one last time?'
'I ain't up for debating, Ain't enough for the taking, you got the whole world shaking'
'I keep on holding tight now, cause your body's telling me don't let go'
"these are all really good," Ren nodded, handing him the crumpled piece of paper back. "i really mean it- they could really be something."
"you think?" he asked nervously.
"for sure," she nodded. "i really mean it," she repeated. "here let me- i'll send these to Julian."
"think he'll help?" Niall asked.
Ren nodded with a smile. "his producer Liam is aces."
to Niall: scheduled a session with Julian & a few writers be there or be square
Niall chuckled, shoving his phone back into his pocket. a square was what he wouldn't be.
Wolves. wolves came the easiest. the more he read the lyrics, the more he fell in love with it. recording in the studio was the best feeling in the world. it was coming so easy to him.
as Niall ran through the melody one more time, Jamie called him in to record it one last time. he was certain this would be the best one.
as niall poured his heart out, he hadn't even noticed Ren walk in. only when he stepped out did he notice her. she wasn't in her usual work clothes. she wore a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt but somehow it made her even more irresistible.
"that was amazing," she smiled. "those lyrics are really good- when'd you guys finish?"
"a little while ago," Julian answered. "niall's killing it in here!"
"i got chills!" Ren laughed. she shook Niall by his shoulders. "you gave me chills!"
"so i made you feel then?" he asked, amused.
"yes!" she laughed.
Niall felt pride wash over him. he made her feel.
Niall couldn't stay away no matter how hard he tried because well... after she saw him record, something changed. something within Niall changed. he didn't see her as the girl that wrecked his career, more as the one that opened his eyes.
it seemed that Ren couldn't stay away either. she showed up more and more often at the studio. she encouraged niall and acted like she really wanted to help him. Harry Styles had also popped in quite frequently, helping Niall out. They met while Niall recorded wolves and he offered his advice. Ren and her were good friends through the business. She considered him to be a good friend.
"harry," Ren whispered as Niall recorded the guitar parts.
"hm?" he hummed, sitting back. "what's wrong?"
"i um," she coughed, nervously adjusting her glasses. "i think... i think i may fancy Niall just like a tiny bit."
"you think?" harry asked, eyeing her cautiously.
"like a little bit," she nodded.
"what are we gonna do about this?" harry asked with a chuckle.
"well like he seeked me out for help, you know?" Ren mumbled. she sighed. "he's like billionaire popstar- shags upteen girls a month. he wouldn't-"
"don't finish that sentence," harry warned.
"he wouldn't want a girl like me," she rushed out.
"ren!" he shouted, shoving her.
Niall emerged from the recording room just as Ren laughed against harry. he set his guitar up and sat down next to harry. "what's so funny?"
"Ren is being intolerable," harry rolled his eyes. "see, she fancies this bloke-"
"h, no," she whined, covering her face with her hands.
"she fancies him and doesn't think the feelings are mutual- isn't that a load?" Harry asked.
"definitely," Niall nodded. he looked Ren up and down.
Ren's face burned red. she shook her head, grabbing her purse off of the table. "right well i've to go- early meeting."
"i'll walk you out," Niall offered, standing up.
the elevator ride down to the first floor was silent Ren felt anxious the whole time. it probably had to do with harry's transparency and her inability to control her embarrassment.
"so i hope you get the whole bloke* thing sorted," Niall told her as they walked towards the doors.
"yeah," she coughed awkwardly. "thanks. me too."
"so big meeting," he commented, nodding.
"right, yeah," she nodded. "you sounded great today."
he smiled, "thanks."
Ren shuffled around her apartment. she balanced a glass of wine in one hand and a bowl of popcorn in the other. she tucked her phone under her chin, heading for the living room. the buzzer rang maker her curse.
she set her things down and pushed the intercom. "yeah?"
muffled, "its Niall."
Ren, furrowed her eyebrows and unlocked the door. "come on up."
Ren paused the television and unlocked her door. when Niall knocked, she took a moment to breath. she opened the door with a smile. "hey."
"oh am i- am i interrupting?" Niall asked, eyes widening like he hadn't even thought of it.
"no no just r and r, come in," Ren opened the door for him to come in.
"want some wine?" she asked, offering him her glass.
"ah no," Niall chuckled. "i drove.. but um i was- have you been online lately?"
"as in..." Ren trailed off.
"as in have you googled either me or you in the last *hm twenty four hours?" he asked, sitting down across from her.
"um no," she raised an eyebrow. "should i?"
"no uh definitely not!" he rushed out. "just- there have been a few reports of things between us as more than just colleagues."
colleagues. ouch.
"oh," she replied quietly.
"i didn't want you to get freaked out or anything my PR. they needed a story i guess," he shrugged. "i just wanted to clear things up and i hope this didn't mess anything up with that bloke of yours."
"oh no..." she trailed off. "it didn't quite work out."
"that's shite," he frowned empathetically.
"yeah..." she sighed, sitting up. "so was there something else or..."
"no that's it," he smiled. "sorry for dropping by so late i was just worried."
"yeah s'fine," she nodded. "i've a show to watch so."
"right yeah," he nodded. "and thanks so much for hooking me up with Julian and Harry. they're brill."
"yeah," she forced out a smile.
and something about it sounded suspiciously like a goodbye which maybe she wasn't exactly ready for. she frowned as he left. how could a person be so oblivious?
it was the American Music Awards. this was important- for The Rolling Stone. they sent Ren on the red carpet to snag some words from a few newer faces. it was fun. it gave Ren an excuse to dress up and drink champagne that was way too expensive.
Ren saw Niall down the other end of the carpet. he looked amazing. Ren frowned, looking away. Louis nudged her and scolded her with a look. she sighed. "sorry."
"look there's Andra Day," he pointed to her. "she'd have a few words to say."
Ren approached her with a warm smile and a hand shake. "I'm Ren and this is Louis. we're from rolling stone mag and i was wondering...."
Niall was making his way through the interviews and photos. he saw Ren when he least expected it. all train of thought was lost. Ren laughed, squeezing Charlie Puth's shoulder. he narrowed his eyes. of all people.
Charlie pulled Ren in for a hug. he rubbed her back in a way that wasn't exactly as platonic as he'd hoped. Niall remembers the charlie puth article well. she raved about his melodies and the riffs- the riffs. she just loved his riffs. if you asked Niall, his music was only alright.
Janice nudged Niall and shook her head disapprovingly. "Niall cut it out."
"just look at them!" he scoffed. Niall shook his head. "disgusting- he's always jumping on the next girl."
"it doesn't matter," Janice, told him, voice stern. "you can't date. especially not her."
"and what's that supposed to mean?" he asked, eyebrows furrowed. the fact that Ren has a higher IQ than most of the girls he's dated said a lot to Niall. she was different.
"she's got virtually no status, babe," Janice shook her head. "you don't need that."
"so all you care about is what makes money?" Niall asked. "really? it's been five years and you can't-can't even throw me this bone."
"money is first- always," she fluffed his hair and sent him down to the next interviewer that was waiting.
Ren was sat two tables to the left of Niall. the table was handpicked because no way would Liam, Harry and Niall have been put together by chance.
Ren shook her head. Louis laughed, handing her his glass of champagne. "y'alright?"
"look at him, Louis. flirting with Selena gomez," she shook her head again.
"it's called being friendly," Louis told her, sitting up. "and don't freak out. nothing's certain."
"except the fact that they're leaving together tonight," Ren scoffed, putting her phone down.
Louis continued to watch Selena and Niall. it looked friendly. if there was some sort of attraction, you could tell. Louis shrugged. he stirred his water, watching the rest of Niall's table. Liam was talking on the phone completely ignoring everything.
“Let’s go say hi,” Louis suggested. He’d worked with each of them two so they were well acquainted.
Harry greeted Ren with a kiss on the cheek and shook Louis’s hand. He immediately dove into a story about who he’d seen with way too much detail.
"ren," a voice interrupted them. ren internally rolled her eyes.
she looked up and smiled. "hi."
"you look amazing," Niall said, standing up. he hugged her and kissed her on the cheek.
"thanks," she replied, stepping back. "anyways harry are we still on for brunch tomorrow?" Ren asked.
"of course," he grinned.
"Harry and i always have brunch after these things. he helps me do best and worst dressed for my blog," Ren smiled. "actually Louis you should come. it's hilarious. We've made bets on who it'd be. I say Taylor momden but Harry says Gaga- but she looks amazing in everything- even the meat dress."
"Right," harry laughed. "who do you say?"
"i gotta say my girl Mariah," Louis shook his head. "she's my queen but no."
"brunch tomorrow?" Niall asked.
"wanna come?" Harry asked him. "it's a lot of fun."
"sounds ace," he smiled. Ren cringed.
Ren dreaded brunch. she purposely invited louis because she knew harry and Louis got on well and he was an absolute riot. now she felt like harry was plotting against her and Ren didn't quite like that feeling.
Ren and Louis were the first ones there. She ordered a coffee, and shifted in her seat. “god i hate harry," Ren shook her head. "Niall just dropped me you know? as soon as i gave him the smallest info he was like great thanks but i don't really need to talk to you anymore- if he even tries it i swear."
"what are you gonna do?" louis asked. "blush and look away- don't fool yourself Ren."
Ren rolled her eyes at Louis. She pulled her ipad out as Harry sat down. Harry sent Ren a bright smile. she rolled her eyes at him.
"cheer up, buttercup," harry grinned.
"i'm angry at you," she muttered.
"why?" he laughed.
"you invited Niall!" she cried. "you know my feelings on that situation."
"he wanted to come," harry defended himself. "would you have told him no?"
"yes," ren huffed. "louis here is special so i invited him. he's got sass and i feel like i need to write something with sass."
"everything you write has sass," Harry snorted. "and that's not an exaggeration."
"figures he'd be late, though." Ren rolled her eyes. "typical snobby pop star."
"heyyy," harry frowned.
"no you're different," Ren promised him. "your a nice genuine human being that didn't lose himself in fame. you're you. it's refreshing."
"what's refreshing?" Niall asked, greeting them. he smiled brightly.
"harry," Ren shrugged. "he's a genuine human being. it's refreshing to meet one of those."
"yeah i know what you mean," Niall agreed. "it is refreshing."
Ren looked away, smiling at louis. she breathed out a sigh feeling the tension settle over them.
"right so best dressed?" Louis asked, setting them all back on to the task at hand.
"right," ren nodded. "so you've all got best dressed people?"
Niall nodded as did harry. "what if they're not celebrities per say?"
"then what are they?" Ren asked, leaning forward.
"well i mean..." he trailed off, setting his phone on the table.
It was a photo of Ren from the back. her head was turned only slightly. her dress flowed down effortlessly much like her brunette curls.
Ren sat back, shock settling in. "me?"
Niall nodded. "yeah."
Louis and harry exchanged a look. Niall stared into Ren's eyes. she looked away too quick for him to read her eyes.
"right well i can't exactly vote meself as best dressed," she chuckled nervously, looking away.
Niall smiled watching as she became flustered. she nervously tapped on the ipad until Louis offered his opinion.
Ren would totally take the piss for this later from louis.
"Niall Horan has had a rough couple of months. Rolling stone magazines, Soren Maude tore him a new one right after his newest album, Take Me home was released. According to a source Soren and Niall continued to work together especially on this song. here's your exclusive first listen to Niall Horan's newest single! here's his newest sound, Wolves."
Ren's eyes widened as the first riff came across the radio. she was shook. Niall's voice was clear and bright and everything she didn't know she needed. Niall's new sound was transforming right before her eyes and the thing was, it was all because of her.
Ren'a phone rang making her jump. she grabbed it off of the table, answering. "hello?"
"Ren!" a voice shouted. "Turn on the radio!"
"i am i am!" she yelled.
"doesn't he sound amazing!" harry exclaimed.
he really does, ren thought and it was the purest thought she's had all day. Ren smiled to herself. she was proud of Niall.
Niall opened his door. the delivery man handed him a large basket filled with fruit, cheese, wine, and a t-shirt. it had a card stuck to it: congratulations!! he furrowed his eyebrows. "who's this from?"
the delivery man looked down at his sheet. "uh it says The Rolling Stone!”
Niall smiled. "thanks a lot."
Ren had just returned back to the office after meeting up with Charlie Puth. they first met a few months ago and he offered to take her out for lunch. how could she resist?
it's like Niall just knew. he knew when Ren was moved on. it was the only reasonable explanation why he was even there. media caught wind and Niall had to be the first one to tell her why it's a bad idea.
"is the boy Charlie?" Niall asked, following Ren into her office.
"no," she replied hesitantly. "why?"
"because you went to lunch with him," Niall stated plainly. "i don't think you should hang out with him."
"and why not?" ren asked, raising an eyebrow.
"because he's... he's got a record, Ren. he talks to like a million girls and he's not quiet about it. you'll end up plastered on his twitter page by the time you wake up."
"you don't even know what you're talking about," Ren huffed. "it was business and i told you the thing with the bloke fizzled out."
"yeah but i know you don't give up that easily," he smiled. "besides i just- Charlie Puth?"
"What i hate more than someone telling me who i can't see is someone that thinks they're entitled to dictate my life," Ren turned around. "Niall don't start with me."
"i'm just looking out for you!" he cried, sitting down, exasperated.
"no," Ren shook her head, crossing her arms over her chest. "if you can parade Selena Gomez around than i can do whatever the hell with whoever the hell i want."
"Ren that's not even- it's not the same," he shook his head. "you don't understand."
"you're right i don't!" she laughed humorlessly. "i don't understand why you think you have a right to tell me who i can or can't date or see or whatever."
"fine but don't say i didn't warn you," Niall stood up.
'spotted! Charlie Puth and writer Soren Maude getting cozy in a sweet NYC cafe. Bye Bye Bella! Could Soren be Charlie's next GF?'
a source close to soren says that the two have been getting pretty close after she wrote an article about him last fall. the source also says that Soren expects this to get really serious really soon! Now nothing's confirmed but if Charlie's tweets are anything to go by, we should expect a confirmation soon! we look forward to seeing more of these two!
Ren clenched her jaw, tossing her phone down onto her bed. this had Niall written all over it.
so niall was called into his managements office early the next morning. he was a bit weary granted he leaked some information to the media- it wasn't exactly true but nonetheless.
Niall hesitantly sat down. Janice and Dane, along with the rest of his team stared at him as he situated himself.
"glad you could join us," Janice raised an eyebrow. "so you've been busy, huh?"
"look it wasn't- i didn't plan on doing it," he mumbled.
"i could care less about that bloody article," she huffed. "the real problem is that we miscalculated- big time."
"erm what?" Niall asked, confused as to what was going on.
"it seems that soren is a very prominent figure in the media world- her social media has nearly sixty thousand followers and she tweets about real stuff like the syrian refugees and- and global news. she's socially aware and as we try to strengthen your image, Soren is the way to go."
"Janice is right," Dane nodded. "you don't have many friends or even people you could say are on your side so an in with Rolling Stone would do wonders for you."
"soren and i aren't really talking right now," Niall told them. he shook his head becoming frustrated with himself all over again.
"make it work, do you hear me?" Janice warned. "your image is vital for your next album coming up. your single was perceived well but it was the one that would make the most money. if Soren writes a good review than we're set."
"but she won't," niall corrected her. "no matter if we're friends or not, she cares about music. if my music sucks she won't tell the world it's good. she isn't like that."
"then we'll just have to make her do it," Janice shrugged.
"you're gonna pay me how much to write a good review on him?" Ren asked, eyes wide.
"Niall's image is important. you write this review and the media will get off your back, simple as that," Janice shrugged.
holy hell, ren thought. desperateness lingered in the air. Ren momentarily thought about abandoning her values for that lump sum. Ren left undecided and distraught. what was more important?
Ren set her tablet down on the table and anxiously clicked her pen. needless to say, Ren's boss all but forced her into it. She threatened to give Louis Ren's job.
Niall sat down across from her. he smiled. "hey."
"i'm still pissed at you," Ren told him. "but i'm being forced to do this so it's whatever. let's just get this over with."
"okay," he nodded, shifting in his seat.
Ren clicked the voice recorder on and propped it on the table. she sighed heavily, rereading the questions that were  prewritten for her.
"so with a new album coming out, you've also decided on a new sound. how do you describe this new sound?" Ren asked.
"Well a good friend of mine pushed me to really challenge myself with the writing. she inspired me to use my real emotions not just the ones i thought people wanted to hear. I really owe it all to her because over the years i'd lost my love for writing almost giving up completely and now i have a lot to be thankful for."
Ren sat up and clicked the recorder off. "seriously cut the crap."
"it's not crap. it's the truth," he replied, tone biting.
"you do talk some shit don't you Horan," she shook her head. ren turned the recorder back on and sighed.
"so fans have been dying to know about the inspiration behind these songs? are they just from feelings or real life experiences or what's going on there?" Ren asked.
"quite a few of them are based on real situations i've been in though i can't reveal any names yet. I think the biggest inspiration behind this album is the concept of home, you know? like as i travel and move from place to place there's no where that really feels like home anymore and thorough these songs i don't know they just- they feel like home."
and wow. Ren wasn't expecting that. she begrudgingly felt herself become more and more captivated by him. Ren mentally cursed himself because this wasn't supposed to happen.
"right," she breathed out. "so how do you think your fans- or really anyone that listens to the album will react?"
"good hopefully," Niall chuckled. "i've poured everything into this album so i'm really nervous to see how people respond."
Ren rolled her eyes as she read the next question to herself. "fans have been going crazy over photos of you and Selena gomez last month. any juicy details you wanna share?"
"no," he chuckled. "Sel and i are good friends. we collabed last year and got to know each other. she's a really great singer- amazing vocals."
Ren sighed again. "so there's been a small leak with a few of your songs how d'you feel?"
"i actually had no idea," he laughed. "but wow first i'd like to know how?"
ren shook her head. "really couldn't tell ya."
Niall reached forward and clicked he voice recorded off. he raised an eyebrow at her. "what's wrong?"
"these questions are shite!" she exclaimed. "this is clearly only a pr stunt. i cant- i'm sorry i cant write this."
"it's not that bad," he shrugged.
"i write for the rolling stone, Niall," she shook her head. "if this gets published like it's a gossip magazine then everyone's in trouble."
"well it is a Pr stunt," he clarified. "and this falls back on both of our managers."
"no," she sat up. ren turned the voice recorder on and opened a new page in her notebook. "in a past interview you mentioned that a lot of your music was inspired by classics like The eagles, Fleetewood mack, sinatra- why do you sing pop which is clearly the opposite of them?"
Niall chuckled wryly. "right so those are really who i grew up listening to and i guess i've always had dreams of becoming someone like them not necessarily being exactly who they are and i guess Pop is where i can succeed."
"okay," Ren smiled. "so do you have any advice for someone just starting out?"
Niall smiled. "the Industry is hard to break into so the most important thing to remember is don't give up. someone believes in you even if it doesn't seem like it. usually it gets harder before it gets better but it's all worth it when you get to do what you love."
"is this what you love?" ren asked. "i mean there have been times where you've felt discouraged? where it almost seemed like you'd give up?"
"yeah, actually," he cleared his throat. he sat up. "this happened about two years ago my mum she lost her battle to leukemia and it was probably the hardest thing i've ever gone through," he shook his head. "when she was gone it seemed like there wasn't a reason. for life. she was my world, you know? but as time went on i found that life got easier."
"you never- songs never came from that?" Ren asked.
Niall gave her a look. "my team said it wouldn't sell."
"so most of your career has been dictated by what would sell?" Ren asked.
Niall sighed, "you know you can't publish any of this right?"
ren shrugged. "just maybe i will. now answer the question."
"then yes. i'd say the sound i have now is mine- like properly mine. i wrote with some really amazing people and i guess basically i've produced this on my own without my team breathing down the neck. from the singles to-to the artwork, it's all really mine."
"so music is obviously your life..." she nodded.
"right," he agreed.
"but will there ever be a day that you just decide this isn't for me anymore? will you ever want to settle down and stay out of the lime light?"
"yeah of course," he nodded. "i probably won't quit altogether because performing is what i really love. i think a quiet life would be nice but only if i've got someone. it'd be nice with someone else but not alone."
"alright," ren breathed out. she turned her recorder off and slipped it into her purse. "thanks- i think i can make a proper article out of this now."
"ren please don't do anything to destroy my career," he gave her a worried look.
"i will consult my boss and he'll let me know what's acceptable. your people didn't blacklist anything so as far i'm concerned, it's their arses i'm burning."
"okay," he laughed. "stay for lunch?"
"i uh can't," she gave him an apologetic smile. "i've prior engagements but by all means let Rolling Stone pick up the tab."
"thats the least of my worries," he chuckled. "but thanks."
Niall's jaw clenched as he saw the photos of Charlie and Soren walking around new york. it wasn't fair. he angrily clicked through the pictures only stopping when he came across one of the two kissing, clearly unaware of the paparazzi snapping photos.
something's gotta give now.
as it turns out the only reason his team set up their interview was to get photos of them together. Niall was almost as mad at Ren.
so now, Ren was caught it this messy love triangle created by the media. Niall's fans boarded her twitter with all sorts of responses. it was then that she decided this wasn't gonna work.
"we have to talk," Ren announced as she walked into the recording studio. Liam, Julian, Harry and Niall all blinked at her like she was crazy.
it wasn't proper recording etiquette to barge in like this. is really messed with the flow which ren could honestly care less about.
"ren we're recording," liam told her. "well about to- you're really disrupting the creative process."
ren set an article from the sun down in front of Niall. "this has got to stop."
"what?" Niall asked.
'Soren Maude has been making waves with all sorts of boys the past month. she's been spotted with both Charlie Puth and Niall Horan in span of two hours. will she be our next Taylor Swift?! We've got our eye on you Soren! Ladies hide you man because she's not stopping now!'
Niall frowned, "well i can see where the problem lies now."
"the fact that i am dating neither of you. the fact that they're using my assumed sexuality as grounds for humiliation?" she cried. "does any of it make sense! no!"
"you're not dating Charlie?" Niall asked.
"no!" she cried. "i've told you over and over. i'm helping him with a song he's working on."
"so let's figure out how to get you out of this then," Niall nodded.
"how about..." Ren pulled her phone out and went straight to twitter.
'just a little disclaimer, i'm not dating. either way it doesn't constitute for scrutiny'
'a female can sleep with as many blokes or women she wants!!! it's not the medias job to scold us!!!!'
ren shoved her phone into her pocket. "there."
"okay well that was very poorly handled," Niall sighed. "my team was using you."
"using me? for what?" Ren asked, affronted.
"they thought that my name circulating with charlie's would be like good for business or something," he shrugged. "and they wanted me to go along with it- i refused but like now they're gonna be pissed."
"this is just unbelievable!" she exclaimed.
"o-okay," Harry stood up. "air?" he asked. "lets go walk it off, yeah?"
Ren shook her head, anger coursing through her. She loathed the industry. it's like being a woman meant being a walking target. being used!! like she's an object!!!
Harry guided Ren out the door. she shook her head, "harry I'm pissed. i'm so pissed. do you understand what's going on? i'm like- i'm * fuming!"
"i know," harry nodded. "i get it. it's frustrating but you can't change it. no one can. you just have to accept it because at the end of the day who you think you are can only be changed by those who affect you."
"okay shut it, harold," Ren huffed, looking away. "what do you know."
"a heck of a lot, actually," he chuckled. "just try to relax."
"i can't relax!" ren shouted.
"why does fake dating Niall hurt so much?" harry asked, confused. "like i don't understand why you're freaking out so much."
"because like- he'd never go for me, Harry," ren shook her head. "and now it just confirms that because i see the way he is. he doesn't want me, Harry. His fans definitely don't either so it being out there is just complete shite."
"you don't know that!" harry cried. "you have to tell him."
"i cant," she pulled away. "no way. ever. Niall can't know i fancy him."
Niall emerged from behind the big black doors of the recording room. He gave Ren a smile. "i talked to janice and things are... what's going on?"
"nothing," ren sighed. "i'm- im going."
"wait no," Niall grabbed Ren's hand. his eyes softened as he looked down at her. "what's wrong?"
"boy troubles," Harry answered for her. he shook his head empathetically.
"anything i can help with?" Niall asked, rubbing his thumb over Ren's knuckles. "you look really upset."
"no it's-it's nothing," Ren breathed out. "i'm fine. i just need some sleep and-and a glass of wine."
Niall nodded, "you'll text me if you need something, yeah?"
"i guess," she nodded, brows furrowed. "why're you being so nice to me? i just ruined your pr stunt and yelled at you."
Niall shrugged, "PR always fixes itself and well... you always yell at me. you don't mean anything by it."
"okay," ren replied quietly. she was still confused because here they were, Niall holding her hand. they were crossing the lines. Ren specifically draws lines and it was completely unfair that he-he just crosses them as if they don't even exist.
"and i think if this bloke, whoever he is doesn't recognize how amazing you are, than he definitely isn't worth it," Niall told her. he dropped her hand and smiled softly.
the irony. ren only hummed in response and muttered a quiet "thanks."
"so text me okay?" Niall asked, taking a couple steps back toward the doors. "i really mean it."
ren nodded, turning away. she let out a heavy sigh, slumping against the wall as Niall disappeared back inside. harry squeezed her hand and frowned empathetically. "text him."
Ren wound up at Louis's tiny apartment in Brooklyn. she was deeply distraught over the weird night she was having. Louis always knew how to cheer her up.
Louis opened the door and greeted her with a big hug. she relaxed against him, breathing out a deep sigh.
"everything okay?" Louis asked, smoothing her hair out. he rubbed her back, letting her hug him.
Ren pulled away only when his cat, Winston rubbed against her leg. she picked him up, kissing him on the head.
"i'm okay," she replied quietly.
"harry texted me," Louis told her, getting two wine glasses out of his cupboard. "says Niall did a number on you today."
"he held my hand, louis," she cried, setting winston down. "what does it mean?"
"like how'd he hold it?" louis asked, pouring her a glass of wine.
"like harry said i had some stuff going on and i said i was fine and then i tried to go but he grabbed my hand he rubbed my knuckles and proceeded to hold my hand for like two whole minutes."
"that's a tough one," louis nodded. "he really did wanna hold your hand, though. i think he was trying to like break the boundaries, you know? like you guys have always been pretty professional so maybe he wanted to show you he was interested without kissing you or something."
"no Louis," she replied quietly. she sipped her wine. "don't give me false hope."
Ren was seated right next to Niall at the showing for Harry's new movie Dunkirk. she was upset about it and somehow she thought it was the workings of Harry himself.
"you look great," Niall told her, looking her up and down.
"thanks," Ren smiled. she looked away. louis squeezed her hand reassuringly.
"okay?" Louis asked.
"perfect," she replied dryly.
Niall leaned forward, looking at ren. "guess what."
"what?" she asked, crossing her legs. she smoothed her dress out and tried not to focus too much on the way Niall looked at her.
"janice talked to your boss. next year when i tour, you're coming with me," he told her.
"um what?" Ren asked.
"it's part of a miniseries where about me and touring and the fans- it'll be so good," Niall smiled. "i'm really excited."
"no one even thought to consult me?" she asked. "like it's my career not hers, not yours. i don't even get a say?"
"i figured you'd be okay with it," Niall replied quietly. "i mean if you don't want to then we can cancel, i guess."
"that's not the point!" she exclaimed. "it's my life you're messing with. don't you have any consideration. i don't want to work with you, alright? it was a mistake to do it in the first place."
Niall winced. "ouch."
"look i don't think you get it," she sat up. "i cant work with you because... because."
the lights went down and the opening credits started. Ren mentally cursed, sitting back in her seat. she lost her chance.
"ren," Niall whispered, tapping her on the shoulder.
"shhhh!"
ren shook her head. "not now."
instead of focusing on the movie, all Ren could do was think about telling Niall. it was a pure moment of weakness because as the lights came back on she felt fear more than anything as Niall looked at her expectantly.
"no i can't tell you," ren took a step back. "i'm sorry i-"
Ren couldn't do it. she was overwhelmed by Niall's big blue eyes. she shook her head stepping back again. "i'm sorry," she repeated before heading for the door.
Ren really didn't know what she got herself into. She didn't know how much longer she could act normal as she fell for Niall more and more with each passing day.
Ren all but blocked Niall from her life only turning towards his music for comfort which she really wasn't proud of.
the fall rolled around and soon enough Niall's album was out on full display. just listening to it, Ren's heart broke. he sang about heart break and love and home and things he wished he had. some songs brought tears to her eyes because she did that. she inspired that and she pushed that away.
Ren felt the self loathing coming on as she rolled out of bed. all of the thoughts were jumbled around in her head. her migraine was excruciating. the rain pounded down on the windows. Ren frowned, pulling a clean cup out of her cupboard. she turned the kettle on and slumped down in a chair.
Ren clicked through her notifications. she found twitter to be annoying these days. her follower count has gone up but the many of them are just dying for her to tweet someone even remotely related to Niall.
Ren shook her head, setting her phone down. she poured herself a cup of tea and started to get ready for her day. she had meetings lined up from nine up until seven when she could finally leave.
Ren flipped through her wardrobe only settling when she found a t-shirt dress that would come across dressy but in reality she could care less. Ren threw on a jean jacket and a pair of boots and deemed herself presentable.
and so it began.
the lot of Ren's meetings focused upon her image which was annoying. Her boss, Louise wouldn't let it go. especially after her blow up with niall- in front of a lot of important people.
Ren drug her feet all day. she sat through HR meetings and tech meetings and lectures about what good interview etiquette was. apparently co-writers were spotted getting friendly with a few of their sources.
Ren all but cried when she got into her car. it was definitely one of the hardest days of her life for some reason. Louis begged her to come out but Harry had already asked to look over some songs with her.
reluctantly, ren agreed. she brought louis along because really, life is hard without her person with her.
Ren nearly collapsed on harry's couch. she whined at harry to take her shoes off of her aching feet. harry with a roll of his eyes agreed.
only then did she realize that harry wasn't alone. Niall emerged from the bathroom, greeting her with a bright smile. "long time no see, eh? how's things?"
"fine," ren sat upright. she cleared her throat awkwardly, smoothing her dress out. "and with you?"
"good," Niall nodded. "will i see you at the album release party tomorrow?"
"dunno i might have plans or something," she shrugged.
"lies," louis shook his head. "we'll be there."
"sick!" he grinned. "i'll mark you two down."
Ren knew one day eventually she'd thank louis and harry for their interjections but right now, she was beyond aggravated with them.
"so here's a few songs i've been working on," harry handed her a couple of papers. "let me know what you think."
Ren read them over trying to forget how intensely niall was staring at her. it was distracting and Ren was sure her face was deceiving her as a hot blush made its way over her.
Ren shifted in her seat. Niall watched her.
"so these are good," ren nodded. "i really like the vibe you've got going on- little bit of heartbreak, little bit of john mayer. it works."
"thanks," harry smiled.
and niall thought it was so interesting how everyone around Ren just seeked her approval. he was a little curious and somehow proud because well... he didn't really know why. Niall got her approval sometimes and that made him proud too. with harry it seemed a bit different because he was much more experienced than Niall and he seemed more put together but as it turns out, Ren keeps people put together.
"what'd you study in uni?" Niall asked before he had time to stop himself.
"i studied journalism with a minor in songwriting. i ended up getting my bachelors in it a few years ago," ren nodded. "so i do know a little bit about music."
"i never knew that," he replied quietly. "so like you could potentially have a career song writing?"
"i guess," ren shrugged. "i would never, though. because writing is really what i love."
Niall nodded. "okay."
"so how about some drinks?" Harry asked, standing up.
"i'll have a red!" Ren replied almost immediately.
"do you have any white?" louis asked, sitting up. "red gives me nightmares."
harry laughed, nodding. He went to the kitchen to start the drinks.
"i'll help harry," Ren stood up. "Niall, a drink?"
"a beer is fine," he smiled, nodding. he watched Ren walk away flustered. she shook her head as she walked into the kitchen.
louis laughed, shaking his head. "i swear some things don't change. Ren was a proper nerd in high school. couldn't talk to blokes to save her life. even now."
"so who's the boy?" Niall asked, raising an eyebrow.
"ah," Louis laughed. "the million dollar question. i won't spill her secrets."
"is it someone I know?" Niall asked. "so i can make sure he stays the hell away from her."
louis let out a strangled groan, rubbing his face. "i can't tell. she'll kill me. i'm sorry."
"well if you tell me than i can promise you that you'll have harry wrapped around your little finger by the end of this month," Niall raised an eyebrow.
Louis was torn. he stood up. "a drink, Niall?"
Niall laughed, "come on!"
louis chuckled, sitting down. "Ren is special especially to me. she- she needs to do this on her own because like this bloke she likes is very special to her and her finally saying who it is would be like her overcoming a fear or obstacle or something. Ren needs this to better herself in a way."
"yeah but... she's so vague about it," Niall shrugged. "and i just don't see why it's a big deal if I know. you know and harry knows and even liam knows. i know we're not like best friends but i don't get why it has to be a big secret- oh." Niall's eyes widened.
Louis's eyes widened too- his in fear for what Ren would do to him. "Niall you can't- i didn't tell you! i did not utter those words to you, do you hear me?"
"she..." Niall trailed off. "i didn't think- i didn't think she fancied me. she's so standoffish sometimes and it really messes with me but fuck, louis. do you know what this means?"
"that i'm absolutely dead," Louis cried. "that i'll never get my person. that Ren will kill me before i even get to fall in love!"
"no!" Niall laughed, sitting up. "everything's gonna work out!"
Ren and Harry came back seconds later. Ren handed Niall his drink and sat back down across from him. Harry handed Louis his with a wink. (louis was melting)
"so what did i miss?" Harry asked, settling back in his seat.
"nothing much," Niall shrugged. "louis and i chatted about the album party."
"yeah?" harry asked. "should i bring a present?"
"for what?" Niall laughed.
"dunno," harry shrugged. "congratulations? i like to give gifts."
"gifts aren't necessary but i appreciate the thought," Niall smiled. "just bring yourself and i'll be thrilled."
"are you excited for the party?" louis asked, sitting up. "heard Beyoncé's gonna be there."
"yeah she is," Niall chuckled. "she's a good friend. i stayed with her and drake a few years ago. they're fuckin wild."
Ren finished her glass of wine and stood up, heading back into the kitchen. she came back with the bottle this time and promptly sat back down.
"rough day," harry explained.
Ren shook her head, "you've no idea."
"everything alright?" Niall asked.
"did you know that ignorant newly hired employees have caused lots and lots of pain for our office," Ren shook her head. "because of the habitual flirting, HR has decided that the sexual relations between interviewers and interviewees has been banned and so we sat through a three hour seminar on why it should be banned."
"so like... anyone you've ever interviewed?" Niall asked. "like you couldn't shag someone you interviewed."
"arse if i know," Ren shrugged, pouring another glass of wine. "i was watching netflix as the stupid bloke went over it."
"and apparently my image is hurting magazine sales," ren shook her head. she paused, chugging the glass of wine. "and so i've been put on temporary leave until things settle down."
"i had no idea..." Niall trailed off. "my team... they... it wasn't supposed to hurt you."
"well it did," she shrugged, pouring the last of the wine into her glass. she frowned, shaking her head. "the hell, harry? it's gone."
"i think that's enough anyways," Harry nodded. "remember what we talked about?"
"oh bugger off!" Ren shouted, leaning back.  "i can drink as much as i very well please."
"yes well i was informed that you didn't want to embarrass yourself tonight," harry raised an eyebrow. "or did you just lie?"
"i don't bloody care!" ren cried. "i'm nearly fired, the boy i fancy barely even looks at me, my mum refuses to talk to me, what have i got to lose?"
Harry sighed, "ren."
ren finished her last glass of wine and grabbed her purse off of the table. "lou grab my shoes. i'll drive you home."
"no way in hell are you driving," louis stood up. he took her keys from her and tossed them to harry. "sit down, we're gonna be here for a long time."
"louis!" she whined stomping her feet. "i just wanna go home."
"i'll-i'll drive you," Niall stood up.
"no!" ren whined, trying to push him away.
Niall sighed. he picked Ren up, throwing her over his shoulder. he grabbed her shoes and her purse and headed for the door.
"let me go!" Ren shouted, kicking her feet. "everyone's gonna see me bum!"
Niall shook his head, opening the front door. "i'm taking you home."
"how do i know you won't kidnap me?" ren asked, voice softer.
"i promise," Niall told her. he set her down next to the passenger side of her car. he unlocked the door with an arm wrapped around her waist partly because he didn't trust her, and party because it was way too much fun to make Ren blush.
Niall buckled Ren in and closed the door. she looked angry but maybe it was just because Niall had taken her liberties away for two seconds.
Niall got in the car and sighed. "where do you live?"
"not telling," ren turned away, lips curling into a smile.
Niall laughed, "Ren, tell me."
"i forget," she shrugged, still smiling.
"you're not even drunk enough to forget," he laughed. "tell me."
"just drive and i'll tell you," Ren told him.
"i don't believe you but fine," he laughed, starting the car.
needless to say, ren was hungry so was it really her fault that she got her house and mcdonald's mixed up?
Niall shook his head, laughing. "ren this is mcdonald's."
she gasped, unbuckling her seatbelt. "what? i was almost positive this was my apartment."
"your hungry?" Niall asked.
Ren nodded, sitting up. she smiled so eagerly that like Niall couldn't possibly say no. Niall chuckled. "very well."
for a brief moment it felt like this was what he was meant to be doing. and then Niall felt a pang of sadness hit him because the chances of this happening were slim.
"you have to put your shoes on," Niall told her, handing her shoes.
ren rolled her eyes, begrudgingly taking them. "don't boss me around, alright?"
"whatever you say," Niall chuckled.
Niall and ren walked into Mcdonalds a few moments later. he thought for sure they'd be recognized. then they were.
"can i have two number ones, uh extra fries," Niall ordered. "ren what do you want?"
Ren laughed, leaning against the counter. "funny."
"no," Niall laughed. "uh also a chocolate milkshake, a large soda and hm... ren anything special you'd like?"
"i want a chocolate milk," she straightened up, smiling.
"how old are you," Niall asked, eyebrow raised.
"i'm twenty six!" she cried. "twenty six year olds and everyone can enjoy chocolate milk!"
"whatever you say," he laughed.
"what's this stigma with chocolate milk?" ren asked. "anyone over the age of seven is ostracized?"
Niall laughed, "for a second i was fooled that you were actually sober but now i'm not so sure."
ren rolled her eyes at him. "i need to call Louis."
"why?" Niall asked.
"to tell him where i'm at. i'm sure he's wondering why in the hell you've kidnapped me," ren shook her head. "he's gonna be pissed."
"the only one pissed is you," he laughed, taking her phone. he shoved it into his pocket. "we're gonna eat and then i'll take you home."
"sir, your order is ready," the cashier said, pointing to the food on the counter. "was there anything else you needed?"
"no i think we're good," Niall smiled. "thanks though."
"no problem," he smiled.
"and hey, i uh i saw you taking some photos just- don't post them for a while, yeah?" Niall asked.
"oh i uh- okay," he nodded.
"thanks," Niall smiled, handing ren the empty cup (as she was begging to hold something)
Niall knew he rags would get their hands on this and somehow he really didn't care. he knew ren would but that was just a problem to worry about tomorrow.
sure enough, when Niall woke up the next morning, their faces were plastered on the sun. Niall couldn't find it in himself to be bothered by it.
Ren looked more drunk than he realized as they walked into the restaurant. there were some good photos, he wouldn't lie. most of them was Ren hanging off of Niall or ren stealing Niall's food or Ren falling as they tried to leave.
ren rolled over, eyebrows furrowed. she smelled like fast food. for a moment she was confused before the events of last night came rushing back to her.
louis sat down next to Ren and chuckled. he leaned over and pulled a french fry out of her hair. "rough night?"
"just tell me how bad it is," Ren mumbled, pulling the sheets up to her chin.
"well," louis pulled her phone out. "i found it to be very endearing- Niall did too however the general public thinks it was hm unclassy? trashy? not cute."
"well i had a bad day," ren grumbled.
"fixed it," louis announced with a smile.
'bad days make for even drunker nights LOL soz.'
"wow you handled that with grace and nonchalance," ren snorted, sitting up. "oh bloody hell. niall's party is tonight isn't it?"
"it is," louis laughed. "and we're going now get up you've a meeting today."
"with who?" ren asked. "i got fired."
"you got fired?" louis asked, confused.
"well after last night i'm pretty sure i've been deemed unfit to represent the magazine," Ren shrugged.
"well it's with niall's producer, Liam and the sales director," Louis shrugged. "dunno. the meetings in a couple hours. shower yourself you smell like fast food."
Ren grunted, getting out of bed. "you're a really great friend, Lou."
"thanks peaches," he kissed her on the head. he frowned, pulling another french fry out of her messy curls. "seriously, ren did you bath in them last night?"
Ren laughed, "i wouldn't be surprised, honestly."
"so you are credited with helping Niall with six songs?" Jim, sales director asked.
"yeah i guess," ren nodded.
"yeah there was Wolves, Where do broke hearts go, erm Olivia, Never enough, Girl Almighty, and Better than words."
"right," Ren nodded. "yeah six."
"so here i have your royalties," Jim said, handing her a very large check. "i just need you to sign this paper stating that you've indeed received them and from here on out we can't be held accountable for the money."
"um okay," ren replied dumbly, she sighed the paper hesitantly.
Liam gave her a smile, "ya alright?"
"uh yeah," she chuckled. "i just- i didn't expect this."
"enjoy," Liam smiled. "go on a vacation. treat yourself."
"i think i just might," Ren chuckled. "thanks so much."
"no problem," Liam smiled. "will i see you tonight?"
"uh maybe," she shrugged. "dunno if Niall wants to be seen with me after last night."
"oh please," liam chuckled. "trust me, it's funny more than anything. don't worry about it. people will forget about it by next week. come. it'd mean a lot to niall."
"yeah i might," ren nodded, sitting back in her chair. and she just might have the time of her life tonight.
Louis and Ren showed up together. She wore a blue dress that louis said fit her in all the right places. she wasn't entirely convinced but that wasn't the point. Ren wanted to have some fun and Louis promised her a good time.
as soon as Harry spotted Louis, he dragged him away to talk to everyone. Ren went to the bar, ordering a martini. she sat down and drank it slowly. she was too sober to properly have fun especially with all of these important people around.
Ren spotted Beyoncé dancing with her husband and even Selena. Ren tried not to be jealous as she talked to Niall. he looked very interested in what she had to say.
Ren rolled her eyes, ordering another drink. Charlie sat down next to her with a grin. "drinking all by yourself?"
"yeah," she chuckled. "my friends went off. I think? not sure. i shouldn't have come."
"Niall horan parties are where it's at," Charlie told her.
"i guess," Ren shrugged. she looked around. "i feel like everyone's staring at me."
"oh," he chuckled. "the article?"
"you saw it too?" ren all but cried.
"yes," he laughed. "i can assure you they're all looking at you because of that dress and not that stupid article."
"right," she chuckled, standing up.
"charlie!" a voice shouted. ren cringed. she thought she was ready but really, she wasnt. "glad you could make it."
"wouldn't miss it for the world," charlie grinned.
"ren," Niall greeted her. "feeling better?"
"uh yeah," she forced out a smile. "i suppose."
"good," Niall smiled. "you look, great by the way. new dress?"
"yes actually," Ren played with the hem of her dress. "i seemed to have received quite a bit of money recently? know anything about it?"
"ah," Niall chuckled. "the royalties. they're treating you well i hope?"
"they are," ren nodded. "to a new dress and a fresh manicure," she held her hand up for proof.
"good i'm glad," Niall nodded.
"so..." charlie cleared his throat. "ren wanna dance?"
Niall watched her intently waiting for her answer. he held his breath. Ren looked torn. she frowned, setting her glass down.
"i uh-"
"come on you love this song!" charlie exclaimed. "remember when we-"
"charlie no," she shook her head. "i'm not really in a dancing mood."
"well come find me later," he told her, kissing her on the cheek.
“so you slept with him," Niall commented quietly.
"months ago before I’d ever met you- before I even wrote the article,” Ren told him. "i didn't sleep with him again it was just stupid i don't know why he'd bring it back up i told him it was..."
Niall wondered why Ren was so desperate to get him to believe her. well he knew. Niall wanted Ren to figure it out herself, as Louis had said.
"i believe you," Niall nodded, eyes softening. "charlie's a great guy and if you wanted to dance with him then i think you should."
"no i don't," she shook her head. "he'd just complicate things more. i'm trying to clean my image up, you know?"
Niall nodded, "yeah i get it."
"yeah," ren nodded. "i actually brought you something."
"no you didn't have to..." he trailed off.
Ren waved him off, reaching over the stool to grab the gift. she handed it to him with a smile. "it's nothing big."
Niall opened it carefully he smiled when he finally got all of the paper off. "ren."
"you left some of your notes behind and i was gonna give them back but i figured this was a bit nicer," she shrugged.
Ren framed a few of the lyrics they wrote together. it wasn't anything big but niall's heart swelled because Ren took the time to make it and she was excited to give it to him.
"thank you," he smiled. he pulled her into a tight hug. "this means a lot."
"no problem," she replied quietly.
"you know this album couldn't have happened without you," Niall told her. he set the picture frame down on the bar.
"that's not true," she shook her head.
"no it is, though. you were always there to push me and help me find these things within me. i've written the most vulnerable music because of you. i don't think i can ever repay you for that."
"Niall all of that was in you... you were just too afraid to go against the brand your team made for you," ren shook her head. "but i'm really proud of what you've become."
"thanks," Niall smiled. "so i was hoping you'd consider touring with me."
"i don't know," ren sighed. "there's some things i really have to do... for myself."
"it'd mean a lot..." Niall told her, voice filled with hope.
"at this point i'm not even sure i have a job anymore," ren shook her head. "and i've been doing a lot of thinking. i got a job offer in london to write for the Daily Mirror."
"but... Ren that's a tabloid," Niall furrowed his eyebrows.
"i know," she nodded. "but it's good money and-"
"but you have money," Niall argued. "the royalties- the money keeps coming from them."
"but the money is coming from you, Niall. i cant live a life knowing that where i'm at is just because of a few songs. it's like i owe you something."
"but working for a tabloid is like-is like a slap in the face don't you think? these magazines that have put you through hell, you're gonna go and work for?"
"i don't know what else to do!" she cried.
"take a break," Niall told her. "i can give you a job. a good one."
"but do you understand that you giving me a job is like- it's not what i want," she shook her head. "every time we end up sort of friends you-you always do stuff like this. why can't you just leave things be?"
"because i'm running out of excuses to see you!" he cried. "i try and i try but it's like- it's like you don't even care. i reach out and it's good for two seconds before you just close in on yourself."
"it's not as easy as you think," ren argued. "you're not exactly the easiest person to talk to."
"what's that supposed to mean?" Niall asked, offended.
"you're like- your mister popstar. you've got girls that follow you around and fans that would kill me if they could! you're not approachable and the signals you've sent me are confusing!"
okay. so Niall needed to send her explicit signals, ones that couldn't be confused for friendliness or platonicness. easy enough.
Ren was staring at niall, eyes wide with frustration. she looked like she was ready to burst. niall smiled.
"what are you smiling at?" she asked angrily.
"you," Niall replied softly.
"we are in the middle of a fight!" she yelled. "wipe that smile off of your face and argue back!"
in one swift motion, Niall stepped forward and cupped her face with one hand, her hip in another. she was nervous. Niall smiled one last time before catching her lips in a hesitant kiss. with her back pressed against the bar, Niall kissed ren the way he's imagined it so many times before. their lips moved together in sync and Niall thought this, this is what kisses are meant to be like.
Niall licked into Ren's mouth, tangling his hands through her hair. Niall was almost frantic as he kissed her. it was like the last four months of self control were coming out in full blast. Ren's soft fingers brushed against his neck and then his chin.
Ren pulled away with a blissed smile on her face. she brushed her thumb over niall's lips and kissed him one more time for good measure.
"let me... let me take care of you," Niall whispered. "write my book."
"what?" ren asked, eyebrows raised in confusion. "a book?"
Niall nodded. "i've read your articles and you've got an amazing writing style and my team has been on me about producing something personal that my fans will appreciate and i've been tossing the idea of a book around and- i want you to help me."
ren crossed her arms over her chest. "is this an excuse to see me?"
"yes," he breathed out, pulling her in by the hips. Niall kissed her again, this time more languidly without much purpose but to kiss her.
Liam pulled Niall away from Ren. "Niall."
Niall frowned. "what? i was in the middle of something."
"speech," Liam told him. he gave Ren an apologetic look. "sorry. the people are getting anxious."
Niall kissed Ren chastely on the lips. "this isn't over, understand?"
Ren raised an eyebrow, looking up at him. "are you telling me what to do?"
"yes," he told her. he kissed her again. "i am."
"you're lucky you're cute, you know that?" Ren shook her head.
"stop flirting!" Liam yelled, laughing. he had to physically drag Niall away from Ren because she was such a distraction to Niall.
a few days later, Ren found herself unabashedly at a cafe in new york city. they were sitting outside as the warm september air kept them cool. anyone could see them.
"so i don't know much about book writing," Ren told Niall. the waiter set a cup of coffee down in front of her. she smiled, "thank you."
"just think of it like a big interview," Niall offered. "it'll be easy."
"no it'll be a lot of headaches and a hell of a lot of coffee," Ren chuckled.
"yeah but like there's no deadline so it's finished when it's finished," Niall told her. he opened the menu with such nonchalance that Ren really wanted to kiss him senseless. "so you can come with me on tour."
"why do you want me to tour with you so bad?" Ren asked, leaning forward.
"because i feel guilty," Niall finally admitted. "because where you're at with your career is partly my fault. i mean, my team literally drove you to drink and i feel like i need to repay you for it."
"you don't need you to repay me for anything," Ren chuckled. "trust me. i've given you a lot of shite the past couple of months."
"i don't mind that," Niall shook his head. "but please think about it."
"i will," ren nodded. "but i'm not making any promises."
"and you'll write the book with me?" Niall asked hopefully.
Ren let out a deep sigh. her lips curled into a smile and she rolled her eyes. "fine."
In order to preserve some holiday spirit, all we need is a handsome man to take us back to that magical time. How about my favorite boys, the gods from the stars? I mean, honestly, you didn’t think I would somehow not give you a review of my beloved Zodiac boys’s Christmas stories? Because there are several. The first reviewed set, Twelve Loves, covers your second or first Christmas with your god, depending on whether you pick one from the first series (Leon, Scorpio, Teorus, Dui, Huedhaut, Ichthys) or the second one (Karno, Zyglavis, Aigonorus, Krioff, Tauxolouve, Partheno). They are three chapters each. The second set, 12 Temptations for short, are tiny and often sweet one-chapter stories, set in what I assume is the year thereafter.
So, on this last day of Christmas, here are your gods.
Twelve Loves Light Up a Holy Night
These stories have a bit of drama. A tiny bit, really. Mostly home-made. As it tends to be. They come in two packs, separated by Wishes and Punishments. Voltage has newly created a slightly discounted bundle that combines both of these.
Wishes
The King calls you and the Wishes gods to the throne room. Dark powers have been sighted on earth, forces that seek to ruin this most beloved holiday. While the Punishment gods have already been sent out to investigate and put a stop to the nefarious deeds, the Wishes gods are tasked with restoring happiness to the people on earth. You, an earthling, are to be their guide. Obviously, you choose to go with your boyfriend – who is grumpy about missing out on time spent with you alone.
Leon gets points again for seeing through the King immediately, because the latter seems far too amused by what is happening on earth. He probably just wants to see everybody in Santa outfits. Of course, Leon is too good for something silly like that. Instead, he casually works some magic to make an entire city happy. Not that he cares about what goldfish think, really, but it amuses him. Later, the two of you go shopping for a unique present. Something to remember…
Teorus is seriously upset about the King’s orders, since his previous Christmas with you had already been ruined by some children. So, when you come across a group of children you know from the planetarium, he spitefully tells them that Santa does not exist, thus not only disregarding the King’s directive, but literally doing the opposite. There’s only one way to fix this.
Huedhaut got the Santa reference, but dismisses the idea of dressing up as Santa and giving presents to children. It’s too unoriginal, and anyway, Ichthys already did that the year before. It suddenly occurs to him, the master alchemist, that grown-ups need some joy, too, so he comes up with a plan that is, essentially, distributing divine space brownies. In liquid form.
Karno completely disregards the King’s instruction, and decides to spend the evening making you happy, since you’re a human, too, after all. Unfortunately, you get called in to work, since two people went home sick, and it’s a busy night. Karno, ever understanding, tells you not to worry, he’ll just be waiting for you. Isn’t he darling?
Aigonorus is annoyed by this decree of the King, because it will result in work, and honestly, who wants that? You tell him all about Christmas, and he decides that reindeer are nice and all, but obviously, a more divine animal should draw his sleigh. A bunch of divine heralds, for example. They can also help deliver the gifts. However, they are also prone to misbehaving.
In what is probably the most heart-warming story, Tauxolouve and you come across a little girl who’s desperate to meet Santa. What the little girl seems unaware of, however, is that she is dead. But then, the King never said that the gods could only bring happiness to the living…
Punishments
On the Punishments side of thing, meanwhile, the King is nowhere to be seen, nor are the gods aware of anything going on on earth. You, on the other hand, have come across some really curious Santas on your way to the mansion. They were handing out candy to passers-by. You took some of that candy at their insistence.
Scorpio takes you out to a multi-course French dinner on a boat. He even has a Christmas present for you. Trouble is, you suddenly start to become invisible. What’s worse (if that’s possible), your senses also grow dull. Could it have something to do with the candy you ate earlier?
Since the candy you’ve been handed earlier smells like cherries, Dui absolutely wants it. Fortunately, nothing bad happens when he eats it. You two go into the city to celebrate Christmas, where you see a surprising number of twins walking around. Are there really so many twins in Tokyo? And why do they seem to be fighting over their dates? And then, suddenly, there are two Duis…
Ichthys, being who he is, swipes your candy before you can even react. You go to see the Christmas display where a lot of couples are about. The atmosphere is jolly and festive, until Ichthys lets you know how bored he is. What’s more, a lot of people around you seem to be feeling rather negative about their dates right now…
Adorable Altair trips and falls into you, making you swallow the candy that you were so closely inspecting. While you sense no immediate effects in you, the gods around you are starting to behave strangely. They begin to accost you, and Zyglavis has to forcibly extract you from the mansion. But then, men in the city are reacting the same way to your presence, leaving their dates behind and crowding you…
When you and Krioff eat the candy, a strange force is generated between you, pushing you back from each other. While the other gods go out to investigate, Krioff decides to still go ahead with the dinner date you had planned. At the restaurant, you have to sit at different tables because proximity is still not possible. But you notice that apparently, you’re not alone with your predicament: several couples are sitting apart from each other. They all took the candy from the two weird Santas.
Before the Christmas party with the Department of Punishments starts, Partheno takes one of your stylish pieces of candy, and feeds the other to you. Ichthys swiped a few bottles of wine from Huedhaut, known to intoxicate even the gods. You partake very liberally and fall asleep. When you wake up, you find yourself in Partheno’s body. (If you’ve met Partheno before, you can guess his reaction to this situation.)
Favorites? Of the Wishes set, I’m gonna go with Lou, because that story is downright magical. On the Punishments side, it’s obviously Zyglavis Ichthys does an amazing job solving the situation. I kinda resent that the Wishes gods got to be all lovey-dovey while the Punishments guys had an actual threat to resolve. And that not all of them did. We never find out what happens to the afflicted humans in Scorpio’s and Krioff’s stories.
Captivated by 12 Temptations on a Holy Night
Quite the title, isn’t it. It’s almost longer than the stories. How do they come up with these? Aaaanyway. Here are twelve one-chapter stories, every one a little vignette with our favorite gods on Christmas Eve. It’s a dream come true.
You’re sleeping peacefully when someone whispers your name. Who could it be?
Tumblr media
Is this how you should be addressing the King?
The King of heaven, himself, is standing by your bed. Since you have been so useful to him the past year, he would like to give you a little gift for Christmas. A dream…
Suddenly, you find yourself in the mansion of the gods, with all of them vying for your attention. Is this really just a dream? It doesn’t feel like it. Leon makes a bold move and whisks you into the night sky with him, but soon, the other gods follow. The only gift they want for Christmas is… you. Who will you give yourself to?
The Magical
Some of the gods are very creative. They are magical creatures, after all, so why not use their powers to truly enchanting purposes? Teo goes all out and does his princely image justice.
Teorus is a fairy-tale prince who presents you with a fairy-tale castle.
Ichthys has been feeling a little abandoned of late, so he sequesters you away into his realm.
For you, Krioff lights up the night in the brightest colors.
Partheno’s love for you is as crimson as a sea of flowers.
The Cute
A bit less bombastic than the first group, their efforts are just wonderfully sweet. Leon really surprised me here. Maybe I should read another one of his stories. Maybe.
Who would have thought that Leon can reach that level of… sweet?
Nobody blushes quite as furiously as Scorpio when he does something nice for you.
Zyglavis feels that sometimes, the world needs some light-hearted miracles.
Tauxolouve could have used his powers to make you a perfect gift, but he wanted to create something with his own hands.
The Nice
Some efforts, I have to say, are a bit pedestrian. But you know they love you, don’t you.
Dui just wants to be alone with you, not matter your, erm, discomfort.
After teasing you more than strictly necessary, Huedhaut drops interesting hints about the future.
Karno pampers you, and your love shines bright.
Aigo wants to find Santa Claus with you.
Was it really just a dream?
My favorites here are Leon (I KNOW, RIGHT??), Teo, and Krioff. They are just really thoughtful, and astonishingly on point for the season.
